Transcript
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Hello and welcome to Filled with His Love.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: So this is a brief Monday thought again to begin the week.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: I was talking with Chat GPT recently and it made a mistake.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: I corrected it and immediately forgave it.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: Then it made another mistake.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: I forgave it again.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: That made me wonder why are we sometimes so quick to forgive AI and so slow to forgive each other?
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: If you use Gemini, the disclaimer at the bottom of the message says, Gemini is AI and can make mistakes.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: That's the quote.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Maybe we humans ought to come with the same disclaimer.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: I'm human and can make mistakes.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: When AI makes a mistake, we usually attribute it to machine error.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: But when humans make mistakes, we often assume bad motives.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: We say to ourselves, why did he do that?
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Or why did she say that?
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: We take offense because of someone's tone of voice or the look on their face, and then we hold a grudge.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Kind of silly to think about holding a grudge against AI, but we hold grudges against each other.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Of course, some mistakes are serious and we can't just dismiss them, especially if someone is intentionally trying to hurt us.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: But hopefully those cases are rare.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Much more often a person's mistake is not intentional.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: They're not trying to hurt us, but we may think they are.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: We misperceive their intent, their motive.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: We know we're supposed to be quick to observe, but I also want to be quick to forgive.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: I want to forgive people as fast as I forgive AI for making a mistake.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: Forgiveness should be a part of our nature.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: When we forgive, we ourselves will be forgiven.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: That's what Jesus taught.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: I want to be forgiven quickly, and so I want to forgive quickly.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: I want to let another person's mistake evaporate into thin air instantly.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: Put the past behind us and move on.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: So until next time, let's draw a little closer to God and to one another.
