- 0:00Speaker 1: Answer early morning praise party. I am Sherry Mackie. In
- 0:04Speaker 1: it's time before today's word. There's a David ahead. There's
- 0:10Speaker 1: a David ahead. First Samuel sixteen and one says the
- 0:14Speaker 1: Lord said to Samuel, how long will you mourn for Saul?
- 0:19Speaker 1: Since I've rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your
- 0:23Speaker 1: home with oil and be on your way. I'm sending
- 0:26Speaker 1: you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of
- 0:29Speaker 1: his sons to be king. You know, seasons of loss
- 0:34Speaker 1: and disappointment can be difficult to move past. When something
- 0:38Speaker 1: doesn't work out, whether it's a relationship and opportunity or
- 0:41Speaker 1: a dream, we naturally want answers. We replay what happened,
- 0:47Speaker 1: wondering what we could have done differently, questioning why things
- 0:51Speaker 1: ended the way that they did. Well, that's exactly where
- 0:54Speaker 1: the prophet Samuel found himself. He had invested time, energy
- 0:58Speaker 1: and heart into care Saw. He believed in him, he
- 1:02Speaker 1: anointed him. So when God rejected Saw because of his disobedience,
- 1:07Speaker 1: it wasn't just a leadership change, it was personal. Samuel
- 1:12Speaker 1: mourned deeply over what had been lost. But then God
- 1:16Speaker 1: asked a powerful question, how long will you mourn. In
- 1:21Speaker 1: other words, how long are you going to stay stuck
- 1:24Speaker 1: in what used to be? When I have something new ahead.
- 1:28Speaker 1: God wasn't dismissing Samuel's pain, He was redirecting his focus. See.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Sometimes in life God closes doors that we don't understand,
- 1:37Speaker 1: and if we're not careful, we can spend too much
- 1:41Speaker 1: time mourning what's behind us, holding on to what didn't work,
- 1:45Speaker 1: what didn't last, and what we thought would be different.
- 1:48Speaker 1: We keep revisiting the disappointment. We keep asking why we
- 1:53Speaker 1: keep trying to reopen doors that God has already closed.
- 1:57Speaker 1: But here's the truth. You can't step into what's if
- 2:01Speaker 1: you're still holding on to what's over. Ah. See, God
- 2:05Speaker 1: told Samuel to fill his horn with oil and be
- 2:08Speaker 1: on his way. See that oil represented fresh purpose, fresh annointing,
- 2:12Speaker 1: a new assignment. God was saying, I'm not finished with you.
- 2:16Speaker 1: They're still more ahead and waiting. On the other side
- 2:19Speaker 1: of Samuel's obedience was David, a new king, a new
- 2:23Speaker 1: season and a new story. Well, the same is true
- 2:26Speaker 1: for you. There may be a Saul in your life,
- 2:29Speaker 1: a closed door, lost opportunity, a relationship that ended, or
- 2:34Speaker 1: a season that didn't turn out The way you had hoped.
- 2:37Speaker 1: It may have been painful, it may have made sense,
- 2:41Speaker 1: not have made sense to you, But if God closed
- 2:44Speaker 1: that door, it's because he has something better prepared. Don't
- 2:49Speaker 1: put a question mark where God has already placed a period.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Instead of staying stuck in what was, choose to move
- 2:57Speaker 1: forward in faith. Fill your horn with oil, again your hope,
- 3:00Speaker 1: restore your expectation, and prepare your heart for what's next. Because,
- 3:04Speaker 1: just like Samuel, Oh, there's a day that ahead of you,
- 3:08Speaker 1: a new opportunity, a new connection, a new season of
- 3:11Speaker 1: joy and fulfillment that will exceed what you lost. So
- 3:15Speaker 1: don't stay in mourning too long, get on up, move forward,
- 3:19Speaker 1: and trust that what God has ahead of you is
- 3:23Speaker 1: greater than what's behind. Father, thank you that even when
- 3:26Speaker 1: we experience disappointment and loss, you are still working in
- 3:30Speaker 1: our lives. Help us, God, to release what you've closed
- 3:33Speaker 1: and to trust you with what's ahead. Give us the
- 3:36Speaker 1: strength God to move forward in faith and to embrace
- 3:39Speaker 1: the new season you have prepared for us. God, we
- 3:42Speaker 1: believe that greater things are coming in Jesus' name. That's
- 3:46Speaker 1: your word for today. Take an applied to your everyday life,
- 3:49Speaker 1: and you continue to being couraged and inspired. Is your
- 3:52Speaker 1: early morning praise party? I am Sherry Mackie
