- 0:11Hello friends, it's Friday, it's the 20th of June and well done
- 0:17for making it to the end of another week.
- 0:19And here we are, ready to strap on a little bit of old world
- 0:23wisdom through the ages from King Solomon to us, transporting
- 0:29these moments of wisdom from the very wise God so that you and I
- 0:34can live a little bit better, a little bit smarter, a little bit
- 0:37wiser. You're ready?
- 0:39Yes. Let us transform ourselves as we
- 0:41read together Proverbs 14 one to six.
- 0:55A wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman tears it
- 1:00down with her own hands. Those who follow the right path
- 1:05fear the Lord. Those who take the wrong path
- 1:09despise him. A fool's proud talk becomes a
- 1:14rod that beats him. But the words of the wise keep
- 1:18them safe. Without oxen, a stable stays
- 1:23clean, but you need a strong ox for a large harvest.
- 1:29An honest witness does not lie. A false witness breathes lies.
- 1:37A mocha seeks wisdom and he never finds it.
- 1:40But knowledge comes easily to those with understanding.
- 1:46And again a wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman
- 1:52tears it down with her own hands.
- 1:57Those who follow the right path fear the Lord.
- 2:01Those who take the wrong path despise him.
- 2:06A fool's proud talk becomes a rod that beats him.
- 2:10But the words of the wise keep them safe.
- 2:14Without oxen, a stable stays clean, but you need a strong ox
- 2:19for a large harvest. An honest witness does not lie.
- 2:25A false witness breathes lies. A mocha seeks wisdom and never
- 2:33finds it. But knowledge comes easily to
- 2:36those with understanding. Oh Lord, thank you for this
- 2:48lightning bolt of a proverb that you share with us.
- 2:52Oh, how many of us just want a clean stable to stay clean, but
- 2:59we need a strong ox for a large harvest.
- 3:02Lord, so often we want to make things organised and structured
- 3:06and just the way we want it to be.
- 3:09But Lord, you don't call us to live neat and tidy lives.
- 3:13You call us to bring in your harvest, to be a part of your
- 3:17Kingdom's work. And Lord, the author of the
- 3:21Proverbs, tells us that this work can be messy.
- 3:28Lord, you know I like order and structure, as I'm sure many of
- 3:32us do. But Lord, expand our hearts so
- 3:37that we can become more tolerant and even welcoming of the chaos
- 3:43and the mess that comes as we live authentic lives connected
- 3:47with others, living your gospel love in our communities.
- 3:54Lord, bring on your holy and beautiful mess that your love
- 4:00can shine through it. Make a difference in the lives
- 4:03of those that we come in contact with.
- 4:06We love you. We love you so much more than an
- 4:09ordered, structured, safe and tidy life.
- 4:12Use us in whatever way we can. Build Your Kingdom and we commit
- 4:17ourselves and pray all of this in your name, Jesus, Amen.
