- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: This is completely full.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: Why can't we just win a game?
- 0:14[SPEAKER_02]: Can I blame Michael Cassfield for this?
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: Can I blame Bob Connelly for this?
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: Can I put on a zebra shirt and just go out there?
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: Scratch claw.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: Up against the wall.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_06]: Can I explain that one feeling right now, guys?
- 0:24[SPEAKER_04]: I can't believe it.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_06]: Let's open up that raised ball.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_03]: or can't believe USC is undefeated in the SEC.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_03]: Wait, we're in the big tent.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_03]: What the record.

- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: Hello, uh, how exciting is it?
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: that we're like full steam ahead on big 10 play after this this last episode of the season which we're talking about a non common opponent it is it is finally go time it is finally like
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: real games with real rotations and real everything.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: So, yes, I'm super excited about this.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: We've seen a little bit of what USC can be.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: Now we're about to find out actually what USC can be.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: And it's exciting.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was thinking about this.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: Never in our lifetime as USC
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: faced a stretch of nine straight games in a single season, all within the conference.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's always been, Notre Dame's always been there today.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: To, to, to, well, I, okay, hold on.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, yeah, yeah.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_00]: Because the end of the season.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: No, the end of the season.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, okay.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: When Notre Dame's at the end of the season, weren't those the years when USC played like Stanford in week two, and then went back to non-con.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: Sure, but like, I guess my point is, this is the only time when like, the non-con slate is done in September.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: early September at that like and it's over like there's it is week two in college football and S.C. is not going to play a non-conference opponent for the rest of the year like not only is S.C. played in week zero but all the non-concer done.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: It allows us to really focus.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah 100% on the big ten stuff.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: Before we get to anything else I wanted to touch on the news.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: At least so we got a game time for Oregon.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_01]: It is 430 on NBC.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: Hold on hold on there's we have a drop for this that I did not prepare How can you not have prepared it?
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it would be like it was right.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it would be the first thing you prepare Michael I literally told you the game time and the first thing you you looked at me and went like so I was right
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, told you, is it a great how right I am all the time.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's exactly what you said.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I was wrong big time about the other stuff in the big 10.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, right about the CBS game.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_01]: The CBS game.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: No, I thought I would Michigan would be the the big noon kickoff on Fox.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: I thought the CBS game would be Um, Notre Dame Purdue.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: Gotcha, okay.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: So you were wrong about that.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Notre Dame Purdue is going to be on the cock instead.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: So they'll be on streaming.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: SC, Oregon, 430 on NBC, Iowa, Michigan is the CBS game at 1230 and 9 a.m. is Illinois, Ohio State.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: So it's like a almost quadruple header of like good big 10 games.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's at least a triple header.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that Notre Dame Purdue is going to be a good big
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, if you know if you're bouncing around college football, you can usually find some good games in each Yeah, in each You slide?
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, the other thing updated polls
- 5:13[SPEAKER_01]: SC up to number 12 in the AP up two spots.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_01]: We were talking about this in the carcass that SC was probably going to be 13 because Oregon lost.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: I think we totally forgot that Oklahoma exists and that they had lost to Michigan also so that was two spots Yeah, I could could move up and they did but there are they are up to number 11 in the coaches
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think you're right.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like this early in the season, in order to move up, you basically have to beat another ranked team or teams in front of you have to lose.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: And this week, USC had two teams in front of them lose.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: We were forgetting Oklahoma, I think, in our conversation.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: But mostly because I was trying to figure out how far would Oregon fall,
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: figure they would drop a lot.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't think they would drop as much as they did.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: They dropped 15 spots.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: Really, really heavily punished for that loss.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: I just keep going.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: I want to get you off.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they were very heavily punished for that loss and rightfully so because Oklahoma State has been a dumpster fire and lost the week before, and Oregon didn't look good at all.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: Like part of the problem was that didn't feel like a fluke loss.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: That felt like Oregon got out played, which I don't know that we've been able to say a ton outside of Oregon playing teams that would go on to win the national title.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, Oregon's reputation this season has taken a significant blow.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that what we're seeing is the sort of eye test playing a significant role as well in a team like Oregon falling, in a team like Oklahoma falling the way that they did.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: And also Washington, who is 2 and 0, but is now out of the poll they've been steadily dropping again because eye test corrections are proper at this stage in the season.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think it's one of those things where the polls gonna be way more reactionary at the beginning of the season than later on with these kind of things because there's a lot of reshuffling and recalibrating with everybody.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: We talk about this every single time, polls or multi-dimensional.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: You might not need to go up, but if other teams around you are going down then you are up, like that's how it works.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: or vice versa, right?
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: So I had listened to the guys over at the solid verbal after we did the carcass, and they were talking about theory people, I mean, theory people.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: And they talked about the chances of Oregon not even being ranked.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: So like, and then I was thinking of you saying that you didn't think that they were going to fall beyond SC.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: And that was kind of like the light bulb thing
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: know that they're right like they are going to drop and really tumble a lot.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, and and I'm not I'm not arguing how far they fell because you are your resume.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: I also as I said at the time I think.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: I.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: wouldn't take Tennessee or SMU or Utah or Iowa or Michigan or Missouri against Oregon.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: But for me, that's where I wasn't sure.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: But if the polls were truly that, then Ohio State is thoroughly number two and all those kind of things.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: The polls are, I mean, it's a complex thing and different people are using different
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: criteria for how they move things in the poll.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: My thing has always been that I don't like punishing teams that much for losses that could be a fluke or had strange circumstances around them, like organ having, and I'm not making an excuse for organ.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just explaining that like when I'm considering how far to drop a team,
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: Oregon was playing early in Oklahoma that game got delayed by like an hour and a half because of lightning which means it got moved into the heat of the day.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: It was like a hundred degrees.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: It was raining.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: It was humid.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: I actually think this is a case of like domestic Alicia.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: I we don't know how good Oklahoma State is.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: I know they lost a toll so the week before but like I Hear you they're quarterback Michigan fell out the poll in the game that they technically won yeah, you know what I mean like I This is this is what the polls do early on like I think it's a good thing
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: I agree with Stephen in the chat handle your business and the polls typically work themselves out.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's how I feel about where US is like could USC be higher than they are right now?
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: They could be.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: If U.S. defense hadn't given up 20, some odd points in the fourth quarter against center of the state and 30 points to Fresno State, U.S. would be higher.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: Am I stressing that U.S. isn't higher at this point?
- 10:18[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: Because again, if you go out and beat Oregon,
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: you will be in the top 10.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: And if you go out and beat Ohio State, you will be in the top 5.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: And if you go out and beat Indiana, you will be number 1.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: So like, yeah.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, for Oregon, the same thing is true and they're they're perspective, right?
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's true for all these teams.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_01]: Michigan's still in the national championship if they just go out and keep winning ugly, I guess, but other rankings Indiana up one spot to number four, I was state, sorry, Ohio State, down five after blowing a 20.4th quarter lead to Texas, that seems like a cruel drop, but also I'm not sure if it's true, but I'm not sure if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's true, if it's
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's early in the the year it's hard to pick who's who's year number two team any On the one hand I don't believe you should drop five spots for losing on the road to the number four team in the country by one point
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: on the other hand, when you blow a lead like that, you deserve all the punishment you get.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: So, again, it's like with Oregon, like when you lose to a team like that, you deserve all the punishment you get even if I could rationalize different thoughts.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: Same thing with Ohio State, like fundamentally, I wouldn't drop them that far at the same time.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, yeah, what do you do?
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: What can you say?
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Penn State up to spots to number 14.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: They moved just with SC up to spots.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: We mentioned Oregon down 15.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: Washington,
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: Now I'm talking about Washington outside of the top 25 with their ugly showing against Utah state and I see gets them in two weeks Oregon next week, but I see gets Washington in two weeks before we touch on them really quick before I forget this thought.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: I am going to be very upset if the Oregon law so Oklahoma State costs S.C. college game day.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: I would be thoroughly annoyed because I like that was the most college game day is coming back to SC game that we've had on the schedule in a long time and I just pulled up the top 25 the games for next week.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: Number one, Texas at number 15, Tennessee.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's, I think they're going in Oxford, guys.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: You think they're going there?
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're going in Oxford.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_01]: The other option is the other option is A&M at LSU, but they've already been to LSU.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: George Evers is Oklahoma.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: Oklahoma's already got a loss.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_00]: I know, but there's a sort of sort of... That's Oregon.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so, I... My, here's my thinking.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: They might think we have not been to Los Angeles for a while.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know when we're, well, they will have a chance again, theoretically, with Ohio State at USC.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think USC's attendance, like this is where the attendance stuff doesn't matter until it does, because if I'm game day and I'm trying to decide where I'm going to go, where am I going to, where am I going to have the best atmosphere?
- 13:33[SPEAKER_00]: at 6 a.m. Pacific time.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_00]: So it's always a little bit weird in LA.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm them.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_00]: I'm looking at Knoxville and thinking, would I rather go to Knoxville?
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: And my answer might be yes.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_01]: I hear you.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: The cult game that has not been here in 13 years.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_01]: My new, in 13 years might as well be five years given that there's no student on campus, presumably at least, that was here when Game Day was here last.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think that changes thing a little bit.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_00]: And when Game Day was here last, was that the Oregon game?
- 14:15[SPEAKER_01]: No, it was the Stanford game.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_00]: The Stanford game.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so that was fun.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_00]: But like, I don't know that the turnout was good for that game.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that was the initial they did on the quad for Game Day.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but they did that one on the quad, which I'd be interested to see if they go back to the quad, or if they go to the Coliseum, I mean, yeah, an awesome place to be, they could not do this logistically because it is a traffic location.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_01]: but in front of Tommy would be awesome yeah with bovard in the background that would be awesome that would be awesome uh the full of joy do we really want this version of game day and Los Angeles I mean this this is this is true this is this is true um we also have a super chat yeah we got a super chat from uh mb searchin
- 15:03[SPEAKER_01]: uh... always loved the ranch here's thank you we we we love the supports uh... we're always happy to rent when whenever whenever it is and whatever it is uh... get to wash and tenors now undranct uh... week one they were in a one-square game with wash and state with four minutes ago in the fourth week to the lead you taught state by two with two minutes to play
- 15:33[SPEAKER_00]: They were up by two over Utah State.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_00]: They had to give Utah State the ball back because while they, when they got the ball after Utah State scored to bring it within two, they on the first play of the drive where they were trying to run the clock out, ran a pass, and it fell in complete.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_00]: So, instead of running the clock basically all the way down so that Utah State only had like 30 seconds, they stopped the clock for them, and when they had to punt, Utah State had like a minute and 15 to go.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_00]: And Utah State moved down the field, got to the, got across the midfield to the 40-yard line, which would have been a very long kick for their kicker.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_00]: But there were three seconds, there were four seconds on the clock.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_00]: They were lined up to run a play, they theoretically could have completed a very quick pass up to the outside to get just a little bit closer to make a kick.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_00]: They ended up getting in a legal formation penalty and had to heave a Hail Mary that was intercepted.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_00]: So like, Washington won that game, but they're opponent had the ball.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_00]: In the final minute, and we're across midfield, so it was a rough, it was a rough showing.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_00]: And Demand Williams, who obviously had a weird off season with Washington, whole thing, he has one passing touchdown through two games.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_00]: They, their offense looks got awful.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_00]: So now we're like, it was a weird weekend for U.S.C.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_00]: because so many of U.S.E's opponents coming up looks like dog shit.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_01]: So it was, it was a weird week of college football.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think we'll talk more about college football week two later on the show, but it was weird.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: So it makes sense that the polls would reflect a lot of that instability and variation with teams going up and down
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of someone who went up and down, Mark Bowman, you went up, hurtled two dudes, two dudes at once, and he's the big ten freshman of the week.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_00]: They had plenty to choose from, and you'll see to me to help me.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_01]: They could have gone with Trent Mosley super easily, just as well.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: You can argue Trent Mosley might have deserved it even more.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: Either way, they would have made the right choice.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_00]: It was always going to be someone from you, I see.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm curious your thoughts over under five and a half times a Trojan wins big 10 freshman of the week this year.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_00]: I will go under on this just because it starts to get boring if you give it a tread mostly every week.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_00]: But we do still need to see Luke Wafe will get it.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_00]: I'm pretty sure tread mostly it's gotten it.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: How do I've got it at week zero?
- 18:36[SPEAKER_01]: If there even isn't a word at week zero.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so can we before we move on can we address one thing in the chat Sager asks are we going to botra travel schedule for this weekend?
- 18:48[SPEAKER_00]: I hope they figured out by now Randy says I think we're leaving on Thursday Lincoln Riley did confirm on Trojan's live that they are leaving on Thursday They're leaving a day early because the game is early and it's their longest travel day So we'll see if that makes a difference but I
- 19:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_01]: The game is 1230 on CBS, 1230 Pacific, but 330 Eastern.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a night game.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: Might as well be.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's it's it's it's close, but yeah, I.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's a lot of things to discuss with travel.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: That was something, of course, that was discussed a lot in the NFL last week with the Rams going to Australia and not going until the day before.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_01]: and they got absolutely jiggle back by uh the Niners.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_01]: Was that the reason that they they lost?
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, but it's hard to argue against that being the narrative, right?
- 19:48[SPEAKER_01]: And so those things are always things you gotta consider in the big 10.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know that there is a right answer by the way.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is one of those things where the right answer is whatever you whatever you back up with the wind.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_01]: because I think you can make a very solid case that it is better to fly in late and I think you can make a very solid case that it is better to fly in early and I think the reality is flying in late successfully and having everybody prepped and all that kind of stuff or flying in early and having everyone prepped and the mindset good is the thing, right?
- 20:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's like a diet.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_01]: They all work.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's whether or not you stick to them.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: These things, if you stick to your plan and execute your plan,
- 20:36[SPEAKER_01]: like then I don't think that when you go is necessarily the problem.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_00]: And your diet might work for you, but not for somebody else.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_00]: And different diet might work for them.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_00]: Like for me, it's very much a horses for courses kind of thing, different teams, different setups, different.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_00]: Your routine during the week might be different, depending on one coach to another.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, it's hard to say.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: But the ramps did that in the NFL and at least a lot of teams did things in the NFL this week because the NFL had begun last week but week one really got kicked off Sunday the bears went and scored 50 million points with with Caleb Williams having a great game which I
- 21:35[SPEAKER_01]: minus five and a half over with our friends over at my bookie.ag, where you can go, and have your say on what's going to happen in the pro with the college ranks, whatever you feel like is over there over at mybookie.ag.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think I'm taking the bears to cover.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'm at a half.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_00]: I like the bears there.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: I like the bears in general right now.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: Caleb looks incredible.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: So you can join us over at my book.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_01]: He's kind of a mind-bookie with promo code ROT.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's ROT and start your season off with the win.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: Better than anything anytime anywhere.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: It must be 21 plus 18 plus and select jurisdictions.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: Terms and conditions apply gambling problem.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_01]: Call 1-800 gambler visit 1-800 gambler.net for free confidential support.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_01]: twenty four seven uh... at least he'll let's get into uh... looking back at s c's win over louisiana uh... forty nine thirty one of those games where if you would have told me the score if i would told you the score whoever before the game forty nine thirty i think the hares in the back of your neck would have gone but we talked about in the carcass like it
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: This is one of those games with the score looked crazier than the game actually was.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_01]: Or what do your thoughts now that it's been a couple days?
- 23:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I agree that the score, the game, like we said at the time, the game was never close.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_00]: There was never a point at which there was actually a realistic chance for Louisville to Louisville.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_00]: Louis Vienna to head to in the game.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_01]: The same person.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, King Louis.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_00]: Today I learned, okay.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_00]: So like in that sense, it was a fine out of conference win, you know.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think we can skirt over the defense though because that was the most vulnerable that the defense has looked.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_00]: And you have to acknowledge that as a concern, you do not want to give up 30 points in a game.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_00]: you do not.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: It is different for me if it happens like happened with Santa's a state where it's literally a fourth quarter where you have guys playing who are simply not going to be playing this year.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_00]: This was different.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_00]: USC did give up 13 or so points from their first team.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_00]: and then proceed to give up the actual points when the scrubs were in as well.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not, you know, as you said, it's not an alarm bells kind of performance, but it is, I would feel better if USC hadn't given up 30 points to Louisiana, you know, I think that's a fair statement.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_00]: I do want to talk about PFF stuff, which was going through the PFF grades today.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_00]: USC's overall team grade was 91.1, which means it was an overall good performance from USC.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_00]: That was the third straight game with overall, uh, with an overall score of 90 or better.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_00]: And by my, uh, counting, uh, I could not find another season, um, certainly in the Lincoln Riley area where a where USC had 390 score games, uh, in a row.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_00]: Now granted, some of that has to do with USC doesn't tend to play three out of conference games against scrubs.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_00]: three times in a row, but, you know, it was also the best pass blocking, and run blocking performance of the season in terms of grades 95.4 and pass blocking 88.0 in run blocking, which is a surprise to me because I don't remember being that impressed by the offensive line, and I don't remember being impressed by the run blocking.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_01]: I look at it this way, I don't remember having an opinion.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_00]: My other had a lot of time to throw.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_01]: Compared to the week before where Jade and my other early in that Fresno State game had to get out of the pocket.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_01]: He was flushed out, had to make decisions on his feet moving towards the sideline all those things.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_00]: I don't remember those things happening against Louisiana, which is the sign that the blocking was, well, and I think that on further review, I think it does make sense because one of the things that was so irritating about how many passes he missed was that it did not feel like he was throwing, it didn't feel like those passes were because he was rushing or under pressure.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_00]: They just felt like bad misses, like something was wrong, right?
- 26:11[SPEAKER_00]: We had the whole conversation about, is he injured or something like that?
- 26:15[SPEAKER_00]: that was sort of heightened because there wasn't a lot of pressure going on.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_00]: In line with all of that, it should not surprise anybody that six of U.S. these top performers on offense were offensive linemen.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_00]: That means all five starters and Hayden Treader, who technically didn't start, but came in after a couple drives.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_00]: So the top five was a live page, Mark Bowman Hayden Treader,
- 26:43[SPEAKER_00]: device Raymond Aloninoa.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_00]: Those were our top five.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_00]: So Mark Bowman, of course, insane, insane, insane person, human being, player, just everything.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_00]: But also USC's offense line all graded out very well.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_00]: And that has not been the case in the previous games this season where USC said like two or three guys that were really good and then two guys who were like, man,
- 27:07[SPEAKER_00]: So, good showing from those guys.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_00]: The bottom five for U.S.E's offense were going top to bottom.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_00]: Booby Feaster, Corey Sims, Carson Taborachi, Sean Baker, and Teno Kines.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_00]: his 48.0 was the worst grade of his career.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_00]: He was not super involved in the game.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_00]: I think that we need to be patient with him and getting him back up to speed.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_00]: He's not getting a lot of reps, which is fine by me at this point because you don't need him.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_00]: You haven't needed him yet, so slow play him, get him right.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_00]: and don't push him too hard, but that is something to keep an eye on in terms of to look like we saw what he could do last year.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_00]: He has not been able to do that this year except for the touchdown that he scored in against Fresno State, right?
- 28:08[SPEAKER_00]: So something to keep an eye on will be will be monitoring, expect more from him throughout the season, but will be monitoring.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_00]: Do you have anything to say about the offense before moving to defense?
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: Um, no, I think all of that looks about right.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think that, you know, having the receivers in there in the bottom five, Corey Simmons, John Baker to no kind and spooky feaster.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like,
- 28:30[SPEAKER_01]: Those are all of those guys are young dudes or like in Corey Sims case someone who hasn't gotten a lot of, you know, starting run.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_00]: Well, and he had that drop, which is definitely going to thank your grade.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like, those are young dudes who are going to get to make mistakes and not have perfect games every time.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_01]: So, um, how do you learn from it?
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: How do you how do you rebound?
- 28:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's the key.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'd rather, I'd rather those guys have a game that is disappointing rather than someone who you really really need to rely on like an Elijah page.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_00]: If you gave me this sort of great chart in terms of who's at the bottom and who's at the top.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_00]: for the whole season, I can live with it.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_00]: Even if it's no kind, it's just not what he was last season.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think you can survive that better than if it was the inverse.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_01]: You can't survive the offensive line that being successful now.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_00]: So U.S.E's offense continues to be really, really damn good.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_00]: run game leave something to desire at this point, but I'm not stressing that too much.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_01]: I keep going back to S.C. has been an elite run team on a per carry basis for years now.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_01]: I have a heart like we talk about Lincoln Riley in the quarterbacks.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_01]: I think we also need to talk about the run game on at least on a per carry basis.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_01]: And I say that just because S.C.s like per carry numbers are always very, very good.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_01]: The totals are not up there in the upper echelon because they just don't run enough compared to the teams that do.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_01]: But they've been really successful running the ball.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_01]: I have a lot of grace for the run game because of the reputation that they've built up.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_01]: That will change if next week, if they can't do anything and so on.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_04]: Or they can't do anything to speak and so on.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_00]: okay moving on to defense which i think is very interesting let's look at the top five uh... shocker louke waifel shocker gdabasiri uh... camon Crawford i thought he had a really good games arrived fisher has been up there for a few games now i think he's doing really well coming off the bench and then uh... rock hill
- 30:58[SPEAKER_00]: Who I mentioned in the car cast is one of the freshmen that you just have to sort of accept is is going to be struggling He did have that that penalty on special teams.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but he had the best coverage grade for USC.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_00]: Of the night.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_00]: So good at rock good on Rock Hill.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know
- 31:13[SPEAKER_00]: to prove me wrong chasing johnson also had a good game all the corners seem to have okay i mean the starting corners i mean johnson's Williams had were fine so that's those are the guys you'd expect u.s.s defensive line at this point looks like an absolute u.s.s first team defensive line looks like an absolute problem to deal with um
- 31:39[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go to the bottom five, so I'm going to give you the bottom five, the natural bottom five, but then we're going to adjust it a little bit.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_00]: So we've got Braille and Shelby, Catalan, this isn't it first name, Catalanca, Kennedy Urlacker, Madden Reardon, and Floyd Bucard.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_00]: All of those were under 50.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: Floyd Bucard, we talked about it during the game when you and I were watching it.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about it in the carcast, too, like it was very noticeable that the run defense
- 32:09[SPEAKER_01]: changed.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_01]: When they took out Ventimerinner.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: Ventimerinner and Abacirian the middle and they plugged in, Bucard and Tom Tom Lepui.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_01]: And yes, those guys are younger and I don't think you should expect them to be as strong and exactly the same as Ventimerinner and Abacirian.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_01]: But you don't want the drop off to be that
- 32:39[SPEAKER_01]: and especially when I think the card is someone that you would I think a lot like very highly of and so like you hope it's a blip but you don't want to have to go to your number two's or rotate that way and you know.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: Well, the thing is with Tom Tom, he's a freshman.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't expect him to have to.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want him to be a primary guy for USC this year unless he is really really up there and earning it.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he shouldn't have to want to have to be relying on him.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_00]: Floyd is another story though.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_00]: USC does actually need him to be a playable.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_00]: figure on that line.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_00]: And it hasn't been super great for him in the in the start here.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_00]: I wonder how much of that is because he is coming in.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_00]: They're not like they're bringing in Floyd for one of G.A.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_00]: or Vince Sumeran.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_00]: He seems to be always coming in with Tom Tom, and I wonder how much
- 33:37[SPEAKER_00]: that raises the level of difficulty for somebody to shine if next to them they have a freshman who peace drying double teams and so that's certainly something to think of.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_00]: But I wanted to look at the bottom five four players who had 10 or more snaps because Reardon, Erlacker and Katowanga, they were all single digit snaps for the night.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_01]: kind of shocking about or locker.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, but he'd leave injured in the area.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_00]: I I wonder I wonder he had he looked he had a really bad play where he gave up the the long the touchdown.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's possible they pulled him but it's also possible he had something going on.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_00]: So they won't tell us.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll find out on Saturday.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_00]: The bottom five with 10 plus snaps.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_00]: Profit Brown, Tamir Robinson, Marquis Gaigos, Raylan Shelby, Floyd Picard.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_00]: This is more of a worry to me, because we've already talked about Picard as he is somebody that USC does need on their second line, who needs to be part of the rotation.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_00]: Rayland Shelby is somebody who should be part of that rotation behind Cam Crawford.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_00]: Marquise Gallagos, if you don't want Madden Reardon to be in your second line for the safeties, Marquise Gallagos needs to be there, and I think deretic might be injured, so
- 35:06[SPEAKER_00]: could be a guy who's fighting for for snaps at linebacker but based on these three games.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_00]: That does not seem possible.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_00]: I do not think USC wants to be playing him all that much in in real play and profit brown is.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_00]: an extremely important player who hopefully this was more of a fluke he's had a good season he's had a good really good two games and this was just rough I think he missed a couple tackles and just he didn't look as as good as he did in the first two games so if you're looking at like reasons why USC was giving up more points and stuff in this game
- 35:46[SPEAKER_00]: To me it was not suddenly that the first team guys were failing.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_00]: To me it was very much when USC rotated and They rotated early in this game earlier than they had.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was not good You see that with Robinson, Gallagos, Shelby, and Picard.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_00]: And those are guys that USC generally does need to be part of that rotation You can't have them having these this bad of a game against real opposition
- 36:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, Mr. Brook ahead in the chat says Elijah new be just disappeared.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't have I think he's injured.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_00]: Is he injured?
- 36:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think he's injured.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to we will get a Wednesday injury report because it's a big 10 game.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_00]: So hopefully that comes early enough that we can talk about it on the on the previous episode, but that will give us a little bit more clarity than we've ever had as far as USC with the injuries.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think that where where are you more concerned?
- 36:46[SPEAKER_01]: Are you more concerned about the the depth options on the line at linebacker or in the second day?
- 36:54[SPEAKER_00]: I am more concerned about the depth options on the line and I will tell you why with my next bullet point.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_00]: I was curious about snap counts because this is wrapping up the out-of-conference play and you see has been using a lot of guys and rotating a lot and that rotation is always the highest during these kinds of games.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_00]: Will what will we see USC do when conference play begins and they start to tighten that rotation and should that make us feel better about this defense given what we've seen from the first team guys.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_00]: So I went through and looked.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_00]: I looked at three games, the three games this year, and then I looked at three conference games, the first three conference games from last year, to get a look at what snap counts look like for U.S.C.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_00]: starters.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_00]: So I broke it down here, the average snap count for starters in the first three games of this season was 25 for the defensive line, 30 for the linebackers, 25 for the corners, and 38 for the safeties.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_00]: USC in these games used 26, 30, and 32 players overall on defense.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_00]: Now the average snap counts for conference games in 2025 for starters.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_00]: Defense of line 46, so we're talking 25 to 46, linebacker.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_00]: 59, so we're talking 30 to 59.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_00]: Cornerback, we're talking 51, 25 to 51, and then safety 59.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_00]: 38 to 59.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_00]: Total players used in those games 23, 21 and 22.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_00]: So we will see a significant reduction in players that see the field for USC once you hit conference play.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_00]: The reason I am most concerned about the depth on the defense of line is exactly because of these numbers.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_00]: Safety 59 snaps.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_00]: That's most snaps for the defense in a game.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's only you can have your safeties out there.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_00]: The secondary doesn't rotate like the line does corners 51 linebacker 59 you can have the two as long as they're they're helping you can have the two starting linebackers Stevens and Bryant play pretty much every snap defensive line it's 46.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_00]: When you look at the defensive line snap counts from last season in conference games, you had players much more likely to be rotated out because defensive line is a very taxing spot that guys get
- 39:38[SPEAKER_00]: You know, guys, guys get out of juice very quickly and you want to be rotating.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_00]: You want guys fresh, you want to keep your pass rush fresh and everything like that.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_00]: So you typically will where you can have your safety and your linebackers and most of your corners out there for pretty much the whole time.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_00]: You should be wanting to rotate in your rotating and your defense line.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_00]: Now, USC's front line defense line sign me up.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_00]: Five of the four, I feel very good about.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_00]: Wafel, and Fisher, and then Abaciri, Ben Sumeran, and Crawford.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_00]: Behind them,
- 40:16[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know what Joaquin's story is going to look like when he gets back in.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm sort of setting him to the side right now.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_00]: In a perfect world, G-Day is as good as we think he is, and we're talking about the three.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_00]: Joaquin is as good as we think he is, and we're talking about G-Day, Joaquin, and Ben Sumeran as sort of like interchangeable parts to a point and situation becomes much more of a question on the rotation.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_00]: If it shall be, shall be's come back from an injury, did not look good in this game, not sure what he's at.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_00]: Jaden Ramos doesn't look ready for that level yet.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of on good, doesn't look ready for that yet.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_00]: So your sort of short-on options there.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_00]: And on the defense of Lyon, like I want to be able to rely on Floyd Becard.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_00]: But he hasn't given me a lot of reason to believe that he's ready for that.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_00]: I want to rely on John Jarrett.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_00]: But I think John Jarrett was injured because he didn't play in this game.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_01]: And he looked really good in week one.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that USC's depth on the defensive line is, as I've been saying for a long time, like it's great in theory, but in practice,
- 41:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_00]: If Bucard, this is assuming the Joaquim Stewart is good to go, and that is not a guarantee considering the injury that he's coming back from.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_00]: If it behind Joaquim, Ebesirian Vensurian, you have Jajarit, hopefully,
- 42:01[SPEAKER_00]: healthy and capable.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe possibly probably my highest vote of conference right now.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm saying maybe possibly hopefully Floyd Bacard, who I know can play better than he did in these games, but he's got to show it.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_00]: Tom Tom and Jamie Winfield, who I like Jamie Winfield.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_00]: I like him in Winfield a lot, but like he has he's been with the third team for a reason.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_00]: And Tom Tom hasn't shown us enough to say that he's ready for the big time.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_00]: And then you're talking about, like, guys who haven't seen anything of Cache and Jacobson, Jake Johnson.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_00]: Like, there actually isn't a lot there.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and that's like, I
- 42:50[SPEAKER_00]: I'm worried about this.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think there is a universe where Bacard and John Jarrett make me look stupid.
- 42:57[SPEAKER_00]: And those are the guys that you as he can rely on and suddenly you see he's got a rotation of five that looks really good.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_00]: There's also a universe where Jarrett and Bacard are either injured or not very good.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_00]: And then USC is down to
- 43:11[SPEAKER_00]: they better stay healthy with the, with the, with the defensive line.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_01]: So like, I, I think the, the minimum thing here you need is you need Braille and Shelby to be, to be sort of the veteran presence he doesn't have to be Luke Wafel.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_01]: Luke Wafel is a unicorn at this point.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_01]: but you need him to not be the second lowest PFF right right and you need the card to to shore up his place so far if those two guys if you get what you expected before the season from those two guys which is not all American level right
- 43:55[SPEAKER_01]: I think that changes so much of the perspective here because, yes, we talked about in the preseason that like this is the the depth of the defensive line looks the best that has in decade plus, right?
- 44:10[SPEAKER_01]: And it does, especially on paper, but to your point, you have to you have to see that actually, you know,
- 44:17[SPEAKER_01]: work week to week.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_01]: And the good thing is these next three weeks, next four weeks are going to be a great test to see.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_01]: Like, all right, how do you, how does this group fair against Rutgers, Oregon, Washington, Penn State, in order?
- 44:37[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously Rutgers, not on the levels, the other three, but it's a big teniponent when they get a travel cross-to-country force.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to see what the defensive line can sort of put together there.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of opportunity, and I think opportunity should be helpful when you have so much depth in terms of bodies, as you see as a lot of bodies.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_01]: They need to be able to parlay that into more success on a drive-th drive basis.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_01]: At least in it, shall we move on and get to overunder?
- 45:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, indeed.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_00]: Take your going over.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_00]: Have someone bold, give me that over.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_02]: I've got to take it under here, I've got three under to take.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to do an under here.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's start.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_01]: It was 54.5, lunch, windfield completion percentage.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_01]: You took the under, I took the under.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_01]: We were both feeling bullish on this.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_01]: It was over.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_01]: He was at 73%.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he had a great game.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_01]: Lunch, windfield was awesome.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_01]: He was really good.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was a thing where if lunch, windfield
- 46:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think the game could have gotten weird, but he was doing his thing, he was doing his thing.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_01]: So that's an over, next one, 36 and a half lunch rush yards.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_01]: I took the over, you took the over.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_00]: And it was over 91 91 rushing yards and as I suspect it a lot of them he broke off a couple of big runs late and and that was the difference.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, all right.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about the third over under the classic 0.5 loopway full sex.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_01]: I took the under I was I decided I was I was off the bandwagon.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_01]: just to try something different.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_01]: You stuck on the bandwagon with the over, it was under.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_01]: He did not get to the quarterback.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_01]: Had a very, very good game.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_01]: He was very impactful.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's why he was PFF, the highest guy as he had all night.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: So this is not a criticism of his game.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_01]: He just could not get to the quarterback to record a sack.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think he's he's showing some freshman tendencies of just, you know, not not being able to quite wrangle in a quarterback and and To be fair lunch when field was always going to be a guy that was going to be difficult to to wrangle and bring down
- 47:30[SPEAKER_00]: My hope on that sack would be that he, that lunch would get outside and underestimate how fast Wafel can be.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_00]: And there was like one or two plays where it felt like that might be the case, but Wafel got sucked in just a little bit too much and, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_01]: There were a couple of times running him down.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_01]: There's almost like Wafel got into the backfield too quickly.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_01]: Which sounds counterproductive, but like...
- 47:53[SPEAKER_00]: But if the quarterback can see that you are coming in
- 47:57[SPEAKER_00]: from the inside and very quickly make the decision to spin away.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_01]: It gets, it gets a little tough there.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_01]: Next one, of course, was over under.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_01]: 13 and a half carries by a USC backup running back.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_01]: This referring to Sean Alston, Darren Rado, and Riley works.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_01]: The Sean Rado.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_01]: The Sean Rado.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_01]: And Riley, warmly.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I took the, uh, I took the under on this, and he realized it took the under.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_01]: You took the over.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_01]: It was under and like way under, uh, it was nine, uh, to be fair.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_01]: Dishon Rodo was out injured.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_00]: And if he had got if it had been five, four, and four, we would have gotten close.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so Alson had five worm Lee had four, but like those two guys were used early on in the game and split backs.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there was this flip-back formation where there was a drive where they ran like four or five plays in a row with Alson and worm Lee in split backs.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_01]: We're just fun to see.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_01]: But they weren't necessarily getting care.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_00]: I still don't understand why King Miller needs 18 carries.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_00]: I still don't
- 49:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'm happy that he got the yards he got.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_00]: He looked good, but I don't think in a game like this is not the time.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_00]: Like if you go to Rutgers and want to give King 20 carries by all means, let's roll.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_00]: I don't need him to get 18, he should not already have like 60 carries this season.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry in these games, why does he have that any carry?
- 49:48[SPEAKER_00]: He's got 48 carries.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_01]: Where in terror, baby?
- 49:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's the thing.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's the thing.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_01]: Next one was over under 1.5.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_01]: 20 yard rushes by USC's running backs.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_01]: They had needed to get a big long run on the board.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_01]: You and I both took the over.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_01]: They did get a long run on the board.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_01]: King Miller had a 29 yarder.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_01]: But Waymo and Austin ran for 15 yards with their highest run.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_01]: They could not get to the 20.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_01]: So it is under under.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_01]: No, not explosive in the run game yet.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't not.
- 50:33[SPEAKER_00]: explosive though like it was just semi-explosive not not like super explosive yeah um Sean Rubino Austin Texas says King Miller needs the lion share to the carries because he's separating himself as the A-back.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_00]: I am not arguing that King Miller looks like USC's best running back right now.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not arguing that he should get the lion share.
- 50:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_00]: I am asking why either waymo or King Miller
- 50:58[SPEAKER_00]: needs 28 carries between them in a game where USC is up by, like, 20 for most of the game.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_00]: Like, in a game where you are, you are well ahead and don't need your starters in the game anymore.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know why King is in the game.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think he was in the game on that Jonas Williams drive.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I just don't understand it.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_00]: Like,
- 51:24[SPEAKER_00]: That's that's all what I'm talking about is like hey, you went over a hundred.
- 51:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and good for him, but what I'm talking about is like I don't need I would rather see Riley warmly and Sean Austin get 10 carries each and take those away from King so that he is fresh for when you know the actual important games come yeah
- 51:47[SPEAKER_01]: Alright, last one, over $199.5, Trent mostly receiving the arts.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_01]: He had gotten over $100, the first two games of the year.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_01]: I took the under, you took the over, it was under 33.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_01]: Terrible game for Trent mostly, right?
- 52:04[SPEAKER_01]: No, because he only had 33 receiving yards, but one of those catches, one of his two catches was the incredible leaping grab, and then his long touchdown was on special tape, so he had 138 all purpose yards.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_01]: But only 33 receiving it had a great game with two catches for 33 yards probably the best two catch game that he could have had Yeah, he was great.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_01]: He was fantastic As it stands, you went to one in five again have to talk about that and I went for in two It was a week of carnage among the rock bots Like real bad carnage, at least it so I wasn't alone.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_01]: No, there were several zeros
- 52:51[SPEAKER_01]: several zero and which I understand because if you look at the over under if you look at like what is the best case scenario for USC as a team?
- 53:04[SPEAKER_01]: then if like if that's the mindset of all these things then yeah oh and six is what is what the the ones yeah i could see how a lot of people could pick the under under over over over and over yeah yeah and there were a lot of people did it that didn't that so a lot of zeros but uh Steven Sean Trevor V and A.A. Ron from Madison all went five and one
- 53:33[SPEAKER_01]: incredible kind of performance to to to to snuff out the correct answers there biggest spread was thirty and a half FBI projection was thirty two and a half uh... in favor of a sea your score project prediction was fifty to thirteen mine was forty eight ten at least we were spot on with what as he could do an offense for forty nine points
- 53:59[SPEAKER_01]: Smackdad between us, uh, but it was 30, which is three times my score and more than twice yours.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so we weren't close with that.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what you want to see, but um, but this is also like feeling my, my thing about, I'm not a betting person.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_00]: So here's my advice to those of you who do bet.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_00]: If you see USC is favored,
- 54:24[SPEAKER_00]: by 20 or more, just take the under.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_00]: If you took the under on every USC game over the last five years, I'm pretty sure you'd be coming out on top.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_01]: You mean give the points?
- 54:36[SPEAKER_00]: Give the points, yeah.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, give the points.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 54:40[SPEAKER_01]: My book, E.D.A.J.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_01]: or O.T.
- 54:42[SPEAKER_01]: code word.
- 54:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so before we get to the mail bag, I want to talk about week two in college football as a whole.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about this a little bit earlier.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_01]: I just want to touch on a couple more things.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_01]: Where do you stand on how the big 12, big 12, the big 10, the big, the big, the big whatever, the big thing.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_00]: The big 18, yeah.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you're to stand on where the, what the big 18 looks like right now because we talked about it.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like everybody saved for Indiana, lowly they took a step back this week.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_00]: and Indiana played Howard, so I don't know what you're going to get from that.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there was you were never going to get a step back from Indiana as Howard.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 55:29[SPEAKER_00]: This does bring me to an email from Tony.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_00]: Because this is sort of the question he asked me.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_01]: You can't just get straight into the mail bag then?
- 55:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 55:39[SPEAKER_00]: Michael and Lisa, this is Tony from Gen RPA.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_00]: I was watching the big final drive the other day with Kenyan Barner and a couple of the people and at the end of the show they asked the question, who do you think is the top three in the conference after Saturday's games?
- 55:51[SPEAKER_00]: You know, they still said Ohio State in Indiana and Oregon if it gets itself together.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_00]: One guy said Penn State is the third best team.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_00]: No mention of S.E.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_00]: at all.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_00]: There is still bias against USC even in the big conference in its media.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_00]: We just have to go out and make them respect us, fight on.
- 56:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, thanks for the email, Tony, as always.
- 56:11[SPEAKER_01]: I, so I find it very interesting how the national perception of SC right now is all over the board.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_00]: I find it interesting, but not because I think it is in correct necessary.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_01]: No, I agree.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 56:27[SPEAKER_00]: Because here's, here's what I will say.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_00]: I do think that right now, USC looks like the third best team in the big ten.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_00]: Having said that, we, we have been watching U.S. E.C.
- 56:41[SPEAKER_00]: closely for the last five, well, for the last 20 years, but let's say, you know, 30 years from Michael.
- 56:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, 30 years from the first game I remember going to was 1993.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_01]: 33 years, 30, 34 seasons.
- 56:57[SPEAKER_00]: So we have been watching this era of U.S. E.C.
- 57:00[SPEAKER_00]: football very closely.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_00]: And what have we seen from this era of
- 57:07[SPEAKER_00]: Good defense, bad defense, mistakes in key moments, USC potentially being good and then not fulfilling being good.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_00]: So am I going to fault national broadcasters or national observers who look at USC and say, yeah, I'm not falling for that.
- 57:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not fine for that because why would you for like I want I think you as he fans are right to be really optimistic this defense of line does look really good and this offense does look really good and there are a lot of things to like yeah but after three games against cupcakes can I definitively say that you see has a defense that can go out and
- 57:53[SPEAKER_00]: be in the playoff conversation.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_00]: I want to be able to say that, but I too have been watching USC for the last five, 10, 15 years.
- 58:02[SPEAKER_00]: And I have a voice in the back of my head that's saying, like, don't vote for it.
- 58:08[SPEAKER_01]: So what's that saying in wrestling to be the man you have to beat the man?
- 58:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of that here.
- 58:17[SPEAKER_01]: Like Ohio State gets the benefit
- 58:23[SPEAKER_01]: And because they just went to Texas on the road and lost by one, even though they blew a 20-point lead, like, they've won those games.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_01]: They won those, they've won a national championship two years ago.
- 58:35[SPEAKER_01]: Indiana has the track record because they're the Fending National Champ.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_01]: Oregon, even without national championships, famously.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_01]: they've been to the playoff.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_01]: They've gotten way further than SE has in the last nearly 20 years at this point.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that you have to build up the reputation.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_01]: The better for the doubt, I don't think it's biased.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think the like, I think college football,
- 59:08[SPEAKER_01]: would be better served by S.C. truly being the team that everyone falls for and everything.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 59:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think part of it is S.C. has played relatively nobody.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_01]: compared to Ohio State who just played Texas and Oregon played a game on TV that everybody was watching against Oklahoma State and yeah they lost it and I think that like which is why I think I would put S.C ahead of them right now in the big ten you and I agree but like
- 59:40[SPEAKER_00]: But we've also watched USC loose to Maryland recently, like we've watched USC loose games that they shouldn't have lost on the road.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_00]: And we've seen Oregon win way more big games than USC has.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_00]: USC has, Oregon has won Morgan get more big games in a single season than USC has in the last five years.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_00]: So again, like,
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_00]: you have to earn that trust you have to earn that ability for people to look at you and say, yeah, I believe that they will go out and win big games.
- 1:00:10[SPEAKER_00]: USC hasn't proven they can go out and win big games, so why would like even the Oregon game that now looks like a game that USC has like has to win, you cannot drop that game at this point and will still be a tough game mind to even though
- 1:00:23[SPEAKER_00]: Even though Oregon looked terrible against Oklahoma State that will still be a very tough game USC will get a much better game from Oregon than then Oklahoma did.
- 1:00:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Oklahoma state did but You know We haven't seen USC beat Oregon We haven't seen USC beat on Ohio State.
- 1:00:40[SPEAKER_00]: USC didn't even beat a Penn State team that was there for the taking you know like We've seen USC get worked by Notre Dame
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_00]: multiple years.
- 1:00:51[SPEAKER_00]: You can't just, oh, we have these freshmen and now we're really good.
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_00]: You got to go on and show people.
- 1:00:57[SPEAKER_00]: You got to seeing is believing.
- 1:00:59[SPEAKER_00]: And it's fair for fans to say that, but it's even more fair for national guys who might look at the score and say, what the hell, USC gave up 30 points to Louisiana, man.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_00]: They're their defenses in fix.
- 1:01:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think the other thing is like I think people and this is why like there's so many I've watched a bunch of TikToks or videos or whatever people talking about their rankings and every time I watch one of those videos SC is higher than they are in the eight people
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's all verbal.
- 1:01:28[SPEAKER_01]: They have SC at like seven or something like that.
- 1:01:32[SPEAKER_01]: And like that's just, that is like a, I'm not gonna say it consensus because the AP poll exists, right?
- 1:01:38[SPEAKER_01]: But like SC is higher in a lot of different things that I see, which also means that they're lower in other areas, right?
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_01]: But I think it comes down to people want to buy into the fun story.
- 1:01:51[SPEAKER_01]: People will want to buy into the fun freshmen and all of those things.
- 1:01:57[SPEAKER_01]: ASC has not played a marquee game yet, and so even though there's the fun highlights of all the freshmen, they haven't been on prime time.
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_01]: Saturday will be a game in which SC plays at 1230 Pacific on CBS.
- 1:02:14[SPEAKER_01]: Which the last 20 years has been like the most watched time slot most like up there with with the prime time game I don't know that SC Rutgers is going to be watched as much as you know a high-state Texas last week, but
- 1:02:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's a game that will be on in people's rotations.
- 1:02:36[SPEAKER_01]: It will be a game that will be on people's one of the boxes if you put the four game box up there, right?
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_01]: And so you learn, you learn some eyes that way and the other thing is
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I, I, I, I find it annoying how, call, call, call coaches are so craved for, um, motivation that they will use anything as a slight.
- 1:03:05[SPEAKER_01]: Well, this is perfect.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_01]: Have your chip in your elbow where you come out there and you're like, hey, nobody thinks that you're as good as working in Penn State.
- 1:03:18[SPEAKER_01]: use that is more action if the if that's the motivation that you need because you would be milking the hell out of this yeah do you think dabble would be like he'd be going to turn with this kind of thing yeah so use it is you used it as uh... as is motivation yeah also at least in the chat said my first game at the college seems with my dad cal two thousand that was at least here wrote that not me my first game nineteen ninety three
- 1:03:48[SPEAKER_01]: Started, I quarterback for Houston.
- 1:03:52[SPEAKER_01]: Clay, help.
- 1:03:54[SPEAKER_00]: That was also with your dad.
- 1:03:56[SPEAKER_01]: So I was also with my dad stories.
- 1:03:57[SPEAKER_01]: My dude, I had been to a game before that.
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_01]: That's just the first one I remember.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_01]: I had been to a game as a baby.
- 1:04:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:04:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:04:05[SPEAKER_01]: Um, all right.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, let's get to a voice man from Dave.
- 1:04:09[SPEAKER_04]: Ray and Charlie Radio, what's up this is Dave Morris County.
- 1:04:11[SPEAKER_04]: It's been a minute.
- 1:04:12[SPEAKER_04]: It's been a
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_04]: back, rest of the year note, and while there is a lot of things that we can get nitpicky about with our genes, I don't want to get into that.
- 1:04:23[SPEAKER_04]: There's always things that you can look down on and say, hey, this should be there better or that shouldn't be like that.
- 1:04:28[SPEAKER_04]: What I want to get down to is, really, this is that feeling.
- 1:04:30[SPEAKER_04]: The feeling that I have,
- 1:04:32[SPEAKER_04]: The U.S.C.
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_04]: finally has dudes, dudes I can just invest in, dudes that I look at the play right before it starts happening and my eyes go to that guy.
- 1:04:42[SPEAKER_04]: And it's not just the quarterback, last couple of years has been nobody on defense, we had no dudes on defense.
- 1:04:48[SPEAKER_04]: Now we've got dudes, and we don't know we've got a dudes for these dudes or freshmen, and that is just so exciting to hear.
- 1:04:55[SPEAKER_04]: A tight end, we've got a moment that immediately, I'm looking at where's 19.
- 1:04:58[SPEAKER_04]: Where's 19 at?
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_04]: At least he makes you do.
- 1:05:02[SPEAKER_04]: I love a tight end.
- 1:05:03[SPEAKER_04]: It's just, it just makes me happy, it just makes me feel that we always have that safety blanket.
- 1:05:07[SPEAKER_04]: And this number 19 man, he's just a beast.
- 1:05:10[SPEAKER_04]: I love it.
- 1:05:11[SPEAKER_04]: And on defense, you got to love the other, the other freshman, uh, Wafel 94, and again, I had so, where's 94?
- 1:05:18[SPEAKER_04]: He just, he just stands out.
- 1:05:20[SPEAKER_04]: And once we get to see him sort of back, I admit that that difference of Ryan is something that you hang your hat on.
- 1:05:25[SPEAKER_04]: It's, it's just great to see him the trenches.
- 1:05:27[SPEAKER_04]: USC just finally stepping up and showing out.
- 1:05:30[SPEAKER_04]: It's awesome.
- 1:05:30[SPEAKER_04]: And, of course, with freshman, our freshman-wide receiver Trent, mostly is a beast.
- 1:05:36[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, he is, yeah, like you guys said, he's got some of these different shades of this guy, this guy, this guy, this guy, this guy, 510.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, we're maybe some sort of heels on 510, but he plays like he's 6-4.
- 1:05:46[SPEAKER_04]: He's just trucking phones.
- 1:05:47[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, and I'm only gonna do that as a white receiver, that the touchdown catch were in, contributed his body, it was just so amazing to see, but the pump return, like, that come on, man, that's just not fair.
- 1:05:58[SPEAKER_04]: out there and gone like the wind, oh man, just excited to have you back at USC excited to catch up on all the podcasts and enjoy this and we're ready for Big Tenful Ball, let's go side out.
- 1:06:13[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks to Cole Dave, as always, we love Dave, we love hearing from Dave.
- 1:06:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think all of that stuff is there.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like my dad has always talked about even though my dad hates Wayne Gretsky.
- 1:06:30[SPEAKER_01]: He's always talked about like there are some players that the pucks on their stick and you feel like anything could happen at any moment, right?
- 1:06:41[SPEAKER_01]: When Messy has the ball at his foot, particularly for Argentina, you feel like anything could happen, right?
- 1:06:50[SPEAKER_01]: when that when Reggie was back there to feel the punt or a kickoff like you felt like anything could happen.
- 1:06:58[SPEAKER_01]: When he got the ball period, especially that friends are sticking, whenever time he touched the ball, he thought he was going to score and that sort of excitement and the buzz of that is there for Bowman, Wateful, and Mosley, which
- 1:07:16[SPEAKER_01]: Almost feels unfair for Cadendix and Wyatt and who in any other year Cadendix and Wyatt would be like the freshman that everyone would be so pumped for yes But he's like the fourth most exciting freshman and that is crazy that he's the fourth most exciting freshman
- 1:07:35[SPEAKER_00]: But I saw there was like a graphic of like the top freshman in the big ten or whatever and it was it was mostly and and wafel and it was like well you don't got Bowman on there you don't got Katie W like you could just make the whole graphic the the USC freshman class
- 1:07:55[SPEAKER_00]: And it would, and it would, it would be, you know, appropriate.
- 1:07:59[SPEAKER_00]: So I agree, like it, but it's, it's almost like Jacoby Lane to Macay Lemon, where it's like, yeah, Macay was rightfully praised up and down to the point where Jacoby kind of, he was never an afterthought, but he was, he was always like the second guy.
- 1:08:14[SPEAKER_00]: And it looks like that's Katie W's fate.
- 1:08:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if he ends up being just Kobe Lane, then, you know, I think he'll do pretty well for himself.
- 1:08:22[SPEAKER_00]: Speaking of Jacobi, man, it sucks.
- 1:08:24[SPEAKER_00]: He got hurt.
- 1:08:25[SPEAKER_00]: He broke his wrist in the first game for the, for the, for the Ravens.
- 1:08:29[SPEAKER_01]: Broken wrist, absolutely sucks.
- 1:08:32[SPEAKER_01]: I, you ever break a wrist?
- 1:08:33[SPEAKER_00]: I have never had a broken bone, not got what.
- 1:08:35[SPEAKER_01]: I, I played flag football in fourth grade.
- 1:08:42[SPEAKER_01]: Very first game broke my wrist.
- 1:08:45[SPEAKER_01]: Flag football.
- 1:08:47[SPEAKER_01]: You want to know why, I was the center, and it was a punt, so I was, I guess, the long snapper in this instance, and the guy who was lining up across to me, absolutely, like, push me as soon as I took the snap, and I'll be on the play.
- 1:09:08[SPEAKER_01]: That's a freaking, that's roughing the center.
- 1:09:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:09:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's, that's a penalty, that wasn't called, wasn't called.
- 1:09:16[SPEAKER_01]: There was a harm.
- 1:09:18[SPEAKER_01]: There was a harm.
- 1:09:20[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's get our voice mail from Fred.
- 1:09:22[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, Renetura, these LA Fred calling.
- 1:09:25[SPEAKER_05]: Well, you have to see a 3-0 and about to begin big 10 play this week.
- 1:09:28[SPEAKER_05]: Where I think we're going to get the answers to several questions all of us must have after watching these first three games.
- 1:09:34[SPEAKER_05]: First, is the offensive line going to be capable of stepping up a competitive weight class and improving, especially in the run game?
- 1:09:41[SPEAKER_05]: Section is a seemingly lack of quality depth on the defense that ultimately be a killer.
- 1:09:46[SPEAKER_05]: And lastly, can the young freshmen and sophomores with largely been leading the entire team continue to perform as the competition increases?
- 1:09:54[SPEAKER_05]: I think the answers to these questions are going to become more clear over the next four or weeks as the game gets tougher.
- 1:10:00[SPEAKER_05]: And I think they're going to largely help determine what this Trojan team can ultimately accomplish this year.
- 1:10:05[SPEAKER_05]: here's to try to keep a positive attitude looking forward to seeing the improvements that are certainly forthcoming as always the right to change my mind is maintained in reserve have a good week beat the scroll at night fight on everybody yeah thanks for the call for it's always uh it has been a cliche on this podcast that we talk about the next blank weeks will define the season we talked about that twenty thirteen i remember um
- 1:10:33[SPEAKER_01]: The next four weeks, I'm not going to say that the next four weeks will define the season.
- 1:10:38[SPEAKER_01]: I am saying this, the next four weeks will define the narrative of the season.
- 1:10:44[SPEAKER_01]: Because, because if SC beats Oregon and they go on the road to beat Penn State, then they will have gotten everybody on board
- 1:10:56[SPEAKER_01]: nationally to say S.C. is back, S.C. is this year's version of Miami, whatever it is, to get all the benefit of the doubt going into the Ohio State game and the Indiana game to be competitive.
- 1:11:13[SPEAKER_01]: If they lose those two games,
- 1:11:15[SPEAKER_01]: and they don't look good in those two games and they lose to Washington, they stumble on the road against Rutgers, you go into the Ohio State and Indiana game at the end of the year with the complete opposite, right?
- 1:11:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like these next four weeks will define the, how we, will define how we see this season, this season, Ohio State and Indiana will be how we see this season in perpetuity.
- 1:11:45[SPEAKER_00]: Does that make sense?
- 1:11:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 1:11:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:11:47[SPEAKER_00]: That all makes sense.
- 1:11:49[SPEAKER_00]: I, there are two big questions about USC that have lingered over the last few years.
- 1:11:56[SPEAKER_00]: Can they beat an upper echelon team and can they do anything of note on the road?
- 1:12:03[SPEAKER_00]: And so yeah, in the next four weeks we will find out the answers to two of those things for sure.
- 1:12:10[SPEAKER_00]: beating organ is now a must do you can't if you aren't going to be organ under these circumstances.
- 1:12:22[SPEAKER_00]: you're just not going to it was it was it will there that said if not now and when yeah which is the absolute the case yeah yeah if you're not going to be organ now then when and then and then then Penn State is all about that is a tough game on the road even if Penn State isn't very good that still a tough game on the road
- 1:12:44[SPEAKER_00]: So can you show something on the road?
- 1:12:47[SPEAKER_00]: And if you answer that question, and you answer both of those questions correctly, suddenly,
- 1:12:54[SPEAKER_00]: you open up a lot because if you can beat organ at home, you can theoretically beat Ohio State at home.
- 1:13:00[SPEAKER_00]: And if you can beat Penn State on the road, you can not get jiggle bags by Indiana on the road.
- 1:13:06[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like you open the door to so much.
- 1:13:09[SPEAKER_00]: And the flip side of that is if you again falter to organ at home and again falter on the road to a Penn State team that
- 1:13:22[SPEAKER_00]: even if they're good is still in a rebuild.
- 1:13:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:13:25[SPEAKER_00]: Then you go back to, if not now, then when.
- 1:13:29[SPEAKER_00]: Now you could say, then when is next year, when the freshmen are no longer freshmen and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:13:35[SPEAKER_00]: But like you said, the national narrative will be in stone.
- 1:13:41[SPEAKER_00]: And even though I do not think that Lincoln Riley will, I don't think he's actually on the hot seat for real.
- 1:13:48[SPEAKER_00]: Um, your narrative around USC will only get worse around the head coach specifically will only get worse if he can't get up we can't get over these homes.
- 1:13:59[SPEAKER_01]: You beat Oregon, you beat Penn State.
- 1:14:01[SPEAKER_01]: Then you've proven you can win games.
- 1:14:04[SPEAKER_01]: That gives you all the benefit of the doubt going forward.
- 1:14:06[SPEAKER_00]: If you beat Oregon in Penn State, you are basically in the playoff.
- 1:14:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because at that point, let's we we've said that USC learned how to be a chalk team last year, so you go chalk against Wisconsin, Maryland and UCLA.
- 1:14:22[SPEAKER_00]: You can lose to Ohio State, Indiana and make it look like a very easily act.
- 1:14:27[SPEAKER_01]: Then the key is the Washington game, right?
- 1:14:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like, well, you can't lose to Washington, you can't lose the Washington game at that.
- 1:14:32[SPEAKER_00]: But Washington is now a chalk like the Washington is it looks, it looks that way.
- 1:14:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:14:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:14:39[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, I know I can I can play the agree.
- 1:14:41[SPEAKER_01]: I can play the agree.
- 1:14:42[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get to a YouTube comment.
- 1:14:44[SPEAKER_01]: We got from wire lug poet.
- 1:14:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm grateful Lincoln is playing as many young and second and third string players on defense as he is and allowing the game to experience the errors that are part of growth.
- 1:14:57[SPEAKER_01]: The fact is there are guys that need to stay in the game all the time.
- 1:15:08[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, I'm reading too quickly.
- 1:15:10[SPEAKER_01]: Substitution can lead to a worsening, and we cannot afford to risk this on defense in big games.
- 1:15:17[SPEAKER_01]: And there are guys who have proven not to be ready.
- 1:15:21[SPEAKER_01]: This is useful information.
- 1:15:22[SPEAKER_01]: We need better safety than it appears.
- 1:15:24[SPEAKER_01]: We are doing this with the next incoming recruiting class.
- 1:15:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, thanks for the comment.
- 1:15:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is a great comment because it kind of does hit on these are the games where you have the luxury of seeing what you've got with a bunch of players and and you know we've seen guys struggle and it's led to points on the board.
- 1:15:45[SPEAKER_00]: But I think what you learned is that maybe, and that maybe this is the reality for USC, maybe USC learned that they do have to go with a very tight rotation.
- 1:15:55[SPEAKER_00]: And that, you know, what they might have wanted a guy like Maddenereen to be involved early.
- 1:15:59[SPEAKER_00]: But he's not ready, and that's fine.
- 1:16:01[SPEAKER_00]: He's a freshman.
- 1:16:02[SPEAKER_00]: They might have wanted to see guys, you know, be more involved in, in, um,
- 1:16:12[SPEAKER_00]: in position battles and the like, and it, you know, it becomes clear that no, you're, you're not ready to go like Tamir Robinson, I think is sort of proven that he's, he's not part of that rotation.
- 1:16:25[SPEAKER_00]: If he had come out and had a really good three games, then we would have had that conversation.
- 1:16:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:16:30[SPEAKER_00]: If a guy like, like, who, like, I say a Rubin had had a
- 1:16:41[SPEAKER_00]: the fact that USC is out there and seeing who they don't have is almost as valuable as seeing who they do.
- 1:16:52[SPEAKER_00]: And they have seen who they do in a lot of guys.
- 1:16:55[SPEAKER_00]: But also like, you know, even a guy like Booby Feester, who everyone has a lot of hopes for, I have a lot of hopes for him.
- 1:17:01[SPEAKER_00]: He's not ready to be a regular part of this rotation, a wider receiver.
- 1:17:05[SPEAKER_00]: and that's fine kids 17 years old and perfectly fine yeah there wasn't universal maybe he could be absolutely insane but you only get so many absolutely unreal freshman and unfortunately boobies and one of them and that's okay at least as the stands now as it stands now that could change later in the season but you don't get you don't get to find that out until
- 1:17:25[SPEAKER_00]: you have your front line guys build you some leads and then create opportunities for those guys to go back in mid season what are you looking like later season what are you looking like and and work their way up uh so you know in that sense yeah trial and error is very good and it's okay to be rotating in these games uh as much it's fact it's better to be rotating in these games which is why I'm so confused by the running back rotation by the way because we've seen
- 1:17:55[SPEAKER_00]: whatever they want to do with the running back so.
- 1:17:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:17:59[SPEAKER_01]: No, I agree.
- 1:18:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's also like the idea of being able to see who you can't necessarily count on being a benefit is one of those things you still have to pay off.
- 1:18:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:18:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's okay.
- 1:18:13[SPEAKER_01]: If you learn that this guy wasn't ready, yes, it's a valuable lesson to learn, and it's a valuable opportunity for that player to know what he has to work on and develop, going forward, and everyone can win from that opportunity.
- 1:18:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, but it's still a matter of going out and doing it.
- 1:18:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you gotta, you gotta, you gotta go out and do it.
- 1:18:33[SPEAKER_01]: I want to get a couple of comments we got on YouTube the other day.
- 1:18:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's the car cast.
- 1:18:41[SPEAKER_01]: It was more so the juxtaposition of some comments, Hyperview says, Man, Michael has become quite the excuse maker.
- 1:18:52[SPEAKER_01]: This was right next to Ed, who says, using the descriptors such as struggle than worse is irresponsible reporting.
- 1:19:01[SPEAKER_01]: But USC to give up 10 points total in three combined first halves.
- 1:19:06[SPEAKER_01]: 33 points per first half are not to throw for 90% while throwing five CDs is hardly struggling or worse respectively.
- 1:19:15[SPEAKER_01]: And then goes on in another comment to say,
- 1:19:19[SPEAKER_01]: The reporting on USC games here as a depressive undertone, in my opinion, a lot of catastrophe is in, forgetfulness to remember great plays and games, a lack of awareness that the NAL era and many older mature teams are assembled for instance, success like Indiana, especially from Malaysia.
- 1:19:37[SPEAKER_01]: She seems stuck in the expectation set of the PC era.
- 1:19:42[SPEAKER_00]: I want to I mean yes because USC is a blue blood program that should be competing for national titles I well, I don't think it's unfair to say that then the fifth year of a coaching staff that you were paying 11 million dollars a year for the head coach To say that maybe USC should be competing for national titles right now.
- 1:20:02[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 1:20:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah I guess the the reason I bring these up is
- 1:20:10[SPEAKER_01]: We get the juxtaposition, especially after a game like Louisiana where there are a lot of good things to talk about, and there were some negatives to talk about, where we get comments all the time.
- 1:20:23[SPEAKER_01]: We are too negative.
- 1:20:25[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you just make excuses and you're not seeing what's really wrong with this team.
- 1:20:35[SPEAKER_01]: The answer is always in the middle more than anything, but it's one of those things where like I mean this with a lot of love, I think there is a propensity and I do this too with the million things in my life, absolutely.
- 1:20:50[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's a propensity to hear what you want to hear.
- 1:20:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because we spent like a half hour talking about how fun the freshmen were in the car.
- 1:21:03[SPEAKER_01]: like all the good moments, right?
- 1:21:05[SPEAKER_01]: And then the other thing with the, like talking about you hung up on on the peak parallel expectations, like you and I have been talking for years now at this point that like, the peak parallel expectations are the city on a hill that you want to get to.
- 1:21:24[SPEAKER_01]: but also like you're going to work yourself into a frenzy being disappointed if you're expecting the peak carol trogians to come out against rockers on Saturday which is also why like i think it's funny that i get accused of that when i know during that this
- 1:21:43[SPEAKER_00]: I spent the majority of the episode of the negative talk of the episode saying it's not time to hit the panic button.
- 1:21:53[SPEAKER_00]: It's okay.
- 1:21:53[SPEAKER_00]: This was not a great performance defensively, but that doesn't mean that USC has anything wrong with them or that this is a mark of what USC's defense will or won't be this season.
- 1:22:06[SPEAKER_00]: I have also spent most of this offseason saying that
- 1:22:11[SPEAKER_00]: It shouldn't be college will play out for a bus because this team has so many freshmen that will be involved heavily and that you have to prepare yourself for freshman mistakes and that's okay and it doesn't mean that USC isn't doing a better job of building a roster and getting in position to live up to those PC expectations and they're like like I think it's very funny that we get accused of being negative
- 1:22:38[SPEAKER_00]: Well, if we went through the car cast episode or the previous two and did a time stamp for like a time log of any time we were talking positively or negatively, I would wager that we are talking positively 85% of the time.
- 1:22:56[SPEAKER_00]: because we spend a long time in the car cast talking about how good players are how good good good jadev a serious or lukeful or or the the mostly or boman or this that are the other thing but we also do mention if jademy of a has a not good game and we also do mention if the second team defensive line comes in and immediately u.s. he gets gashed on the run like you know these are things that
- 1:23:20[SPEAKER_00]: like we get tagged for being negative if we mention those things and we get tagged for being too positive if we mention the other things.
- 1:23:27[SPEAKER_00]: So it just it kind of exhausting.
- 1:23:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 1:23:30[SPEAKER_00]: I try like I think you and I both need to do a better job of like not internalizing that.
- 1:23:35[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 1:23:36[SPEAKER_00]: But I also wish that people would take a second to think about what negativity actually looks like or what
- 1:23:49[SPEAKER_00]: I could be much more negative than I am.
- 1:23:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think I am I'm not a sunshine pump or anything like that even though I get accused of being that all the time I'm not going to blow smoke up your ass and say that USC is perfect because they're not But that doesn't mean that I'm like I'm negative in the sense of like I don't want USC to lose and I don't rebel in guys being having a rough time or anything like that
- 1:24:14[SPEAKER_00]: I also think a lot of the negative when we get accused of being negative.
- 1:24:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think people need to understand.
- 1:24:20[SPEAKER_00]: We are also responding to what we are seeing in our chat and online and everything like that.
- 1:24:27[SPEAKER_00]: And if you want to see negative, you want to see negative.
- 1:24:30[SPEAKER_00]: then come look at the like comments that are flooding our chat that we are then having to respond to and most of the time rebudding those and saying like calm down guys it's not that like it's not that bad but then somehow when when when us saying it's not that like we never get credit for saying where it's not that bad you know like we only get it for now you're making excuses so I don't know it's just it just is it's a weird dichotomy for us
- 1:24:59[SPEAKER_00]: We should probably wear it as a badge of honor that we get it on both sides because that means we are living in the middle and I think you know I both want to live in the in the it's never as good as it seems or as bad as it seems sort of reality.
- 1:25:13[SPEAKER_00]: And in honest reality where we can say what we think and not sugarcoded or not blow smoke up your ass and like and and be fake, you know, like I just
- 1:25:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think that we have a lot of people who support us, and I very appreciate them, and they tell us way more often than people tell us that we suck, like that they appreciate our honesty and our realness and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:25:44[SPEAKER_00]: So we need to do a better job of internalizing those comments than negative ones.
- 1:25:49[SPEAKER_00]: But I will not lie until you, the negative, the, the, the, the,
- 1:25:56[SPEAKER_00]: conflicting accusations can be just like it creates a a whiplash that can be exhausting.
- 1:26:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and restless badger.
- 1:26:09[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what he's doing, by the way.
- 1:26:11[SPEAKER_01]: Something off of the table.
- 1:26:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:26:13[SPEAKER_01]: And then he's back under your Twitter.
- 1:26:15[SPEAKER_00]: He knocked my water thing off.
- 1:26:18[SPEAKER_00]: I was worried he was grabbing my flip-flops to chew on them.
- 1:26:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and this whole thing isn't to, you know, bring up these things as a way of like criticizing our listeners or watchers, and I'm like, we love and appreciate you guys.
- 1:26:37[SPEAKER_01]: I just want to say, like,
- 1:26:39[SPEAKER_01]: We can't be both sunshine pumpers and gloom and doomers at the same time.
- 1:26:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:26:49[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 1:26:51[SPEAKER_01]: We got a bunch of stuff in the chat.
- 1:26:54[SPEAKER_01]: Randy from Redlands.
- 1:26:56[SPEAKER_01]: I thought RJ sermons played well against Louisiana.
- 1:27:00[SPEAKER_01]: With the depth we have at corner.
- 1:27:02[SPEAKER_01]: Can you see the moving him to Nicola's safety to help out?
- 1:27:07[SPEAKER_00]: I agree.
- 1:27:08[SPEAKER_00]: I thought RJ sermons did a good job.
- 1:27:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's hard.
- 1:27:10[SPEAKER_00]: He does.
- 1:27:11[SPEAKER_00]: He's one of those guys that makes his presence known and you have to like that from your secondary.
- 1:27:17[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very curious about what we're going to see.
- 1:27:20[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about the rotation shrinking, right?
- 1:27:22[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's very obvious and a lot of places where it'll shrink.
- 1:27:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's less obvious to me at corner.
- 1:27:29[SPEAKER_00]: Aside from John Tiss Williams,
- 1:27:33[SPEAKER_00]: the designated number one corner will be between John's number two corner between Jason Johnson, Marcellus Williams, Rockhill, and like I don't know that RJ sermons is up there yet, but I think he could certainly be a member of that rotation that sees playing time.
- 1:27:50[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's probably a good thing that we haven't sat here and really talked about the corners.
- 1:27:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like the safeties, we've, the safeties have been visible both on the good end and the struggle end, right?
- 1:28:06[SPEAKER_01]: Erlachar with the safeties against Fresno State, the two point safeties as a,
- 1:28:14[SPEAKER_01]: safety the position.
- 1:28:16[SPEAKER_01]: But also, you know, get gets he's gotten beat a couple times, Christian beer's just got to beat in a couple times, but profit brown hit interception against Fresno State, right?
- 1:28:25[SPEAKER_00]: And almost to one against Louisiana.
- 1:28:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so like there has been a lot of like moments in which the safety have played a big role in the talking points of games.
- 1:28:37[SPEAKER_00]: we have not talked about the corners like at all and not just John Williams I think the only thing we've talked about with the corners is they still play pretty far off but I also think
- 1:28:49[SPEAKER_00]: There is a schematic design there that we could disagree with, but also it seems it's not that they are playing poorly.
- 1:28:57[SPEAKER_00]: It's that that's just the way that their zone is.
- 1:29:01[SPEAKER_00]: And I think some of those breakdowns were maybe linebackers not getting over to cover and all of that can be kind of difficult to parse out whose fault it was with the corners and how much cushion they're giving or whatever,
- 1:29:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't think the corners have been a massive liability, which is something we've seen in prior years, what like a liability looks like at corner.
- 1:29:26[SPEAKER_00]: And it feels like the yards that U.S. these corners have given up this season have been more just a function of keeping things in front of them.
- 1:29:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:29:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think we're going to see a lot more from these these four games that will define the narrative of the season.
- 1:29:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:29:47[SPEAKER_01]: Um, all right, Vince and San Diego, a Michael, the King of U.S. C. Trivia, what kind of jersey did you win the other day?
- 1:29:57[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, love that it was thanks to your U.S. C. No, of knowledge if I'm remembering right.
- 1:30:02[SPEAKER_01]: Did I mention this on the, I think you mentioned it in discord.
- 1:30:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think I mentioned in discord.
- 1:30:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was, was it Vince who mentioned me, like in U.S.e.
- 1:30:12[SPEAKER_01]: Trivia and I said, that Trivia always, like, Trivia's, like, my think is I'm a giant nerd on these weird things.
- 1:30:20[SPEAKER_01]: I was the door, who was 10 years old and asking for an Almanac for Christmas and an Atlas.
- 1:30:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:30:28[SPEAKER_01]: I had issues.
- 1:30:29[SPEAKER_01]: Anyways, we had a work function last week where we had NFL trivia to kick off the season.
- 1:30:39[SPEAKER_01]: And we're doing this NFL trivia with guys whose jobs it is to cover the NFL.
- 1:30:45[SPEAKER_01]: So I go into this thinking, like, I got no chance.
- 1:30:49[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you won college football trivia, didn't you?
- 1:30:51[SPEAKER_00]: No, I won the World Cup Championship.
- 1:30:52[SPEAKER_01]: World Cup trivia, right?
- 1:30:54[SPEAKER_01]: So I go into this thinking I had no chance.
- 1:30:56[SPEAKER_01]: So there's one question on each, each of the 32 teams.
- 1:31:00[SPEAKER_01]: I went 29 for 32.
- 1:31:03[SPEAKER_01]: One of them I made a stupid overthinking, which was, which of these Washington quarterbacks have not won a national championship as a civil.
- 1:31:21[SPEAKER_01]: I know that Thysman won a Heistman, I'm like, wait a minute, is this like, I was gaming the question of like, is it too obvious that, maybe that's why it's a notable question that he didn't win one and then so I got that one wrong and went 29 of 32 and so I knew my score was 29 of 32 so we get to the end there announcing the winners and I'm like,
- 1:31:48[SPEAKER_01]: 29th or two this is in the sack of someone will have gone 31 for 32 and I've thrown this away and mad about this Number three third place has 26 like Second place has 28
- 1:32:08[SPEAKER_01]: And then I, and then I won with 232 so I, I won a jersey, which I am giving to this one over here.
- 1:32:16[SPEAKER_01]: All right, I guess given the, the year on that side of the screen today, that one over there.
- 1:32:21[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so she picked a, uh, an L.T.
- 1:32:25[SPEAKER_01]: Chargers jersey.
- 1:32:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we were brainstorming what should I get?
- 1:32:30[SPEAKER_00]: I am a chargers fan, but like, a self-hating one.
- 1:32:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:32:34[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so what is the birthday this week?
- 1:32:37[SPEAKER_01]: So that's why.
- 1:32:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's a birthday this week.
- 1:32:38[SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
- 1:32:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's why she getting the jersey.
- 1:32:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:32:41[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and so you were like, well, do you want to Kayla Williams jersey?
- 1:32:44[SPEAKER_00]: And I was tempted for a second, and then I thought, no, I will do that to Kayla.
- 1:32:49[SPEAKER_00]: I have a very long track record of, if I get a jersey with a player's name on it, that player instantly.
- 1:32:59[SPEAKER_01]: Where's your anti-carol jersey, yes?
- 1:33:02[SPEAKER_00]: My Jordan Henderson jersey resulted in a series of injuries for Henderson.
- 1:33:07[SPEAKER_00]: My Stevie G jersey ended in a series of injuries and then a retirement for Stevie G. Yeah.
- 1:33:15[SPEAKER_01]: There's a well-a-partiku jersey.
- 1:33:17[SPEAKER_00]: I've got an Elton brand jersey for the clippers right before you got traded.
- 1:33:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'll just say you was a good clipper.
- 1:33:24[SPEAKER_00]: But I guess you got traded in the trailer.
- 1:33:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:33:27[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, brands.
- 1:33:30[SPEAKER_01]: Hall of Hall of Good.
- 1:33:33[SPEAKER_01]: That's like I'm not saying all of very good.
- 1:33:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's all of that.
- 1:33:37[SPEAKER_01]: He was good players.
- 1:33:37[SPEAKER_01]: Good dude.
- 1:33:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, good player.
- 1:33:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so yeah, so I stopped getting jerseys of Jersey names of current players.
- 1:33:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:33:47[SPEAKER_00]: So I am sparing Caleb that particular curse.
- 1:33:52[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, we're going with my, I was, I was tempted to do the 55 for Sayo, sayo, when I say sayo.
- 1:34:00[SPEAKER_00]: But L.T.
- 1:34:01[SPEAKER_00]: was my favorite player growing up.
- 1:34:03[SPEAKER_00]: He's the reason I'm a charger fan.
- 1:34:05[SPEAKER_00]: So I figured, let's roll with that.
- 1:34:07[SPEAKER_01]: I have the charger stay this weekend.
- 1:34:10[SPEAKER_00]: Remember, on the car cast, say you talked about the charger team and my team, we're nine point favorites.
- 1:34:17[SPEAKER_00]: And what did I tell you, Michael, I told you, I don't like that.
- 1:34:21[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like that.
- 1:34:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very nervous about that and the jags I was nervous about the jags.
- 1:34:27[SPEAKER_00]: I was nervous about the chargers and of course the cardinals won that game.
- 1:34:34[SPEAKER_00]: They did because the chargers are still the chargers.
- 1:34:38[SPEAKER_00]: They still are the chargers.
- 1:34:39[SPEAKER_00]: And there is no
- 1:34:41[SPEAKER_00]: changing that like I am now firmly of the belief that the charges are cursed moving from San Diego to LA basically they were cursed before that they were cursed before that but like any hope of that curse being relieved was God that was the chewing the he's chewing on the leg of your dad's my of the of the is it the leg of my desk or the leg of my light the leg of your desk he's a crazy crazy crazy one yeah
- 1:35:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they're charging the recurs before.
- 1:35:09[SPEAKER_00]: That's true, but it feels different now.
- 1:35:11[SPEAKER_01]: It feels orange.
- 1:35:13[SPEAKER_01]: I've just bombed that they move because they had a great song.
- 1:35:16[SPEAKER_01]: Sandy, there you go.
- 1:35:18[SPEAKER_01]: Supercharters, Sandy, like that's great song.
- 1:35:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:35:23[SPEAKER_01]: Great song.
- 1:35:25[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Randy from Redlands, what is your worst USC football memory?
- 1:35:29[SPEAKER_01]: Mine was losing eight straight games.
- 1:35:31[SPEAKER_01]: Do you see what's what's your worst?
- 1:35:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of the jail, Mary.
- 1:35:36[SPEAKER_00]: I would say Vince Young, like that's the obvious answer.
- 1:35:43[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's the obvious answer, but like, the jail, Mary, I've never been more angry in my life.
- 1:35:50[SPEAKER_01]: I still can't watch the Roth Bull.
- 1:35:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:35:53[SPEAKER_00]: That's the Roth Bull.
- 1:35:54[SPEAKER_00]: I see the, any good.
- 1:35:55[SPEAKER_01]: The first thing I can say is the Roth Bull, we all know what I'm talking about.
- 1:35:58[SPEAKER_00]: I see any clip from that game and I just, my day is ruined.
- 1:36:03[SPEAKER_00]: So, maybe it is just that.
- 1:36:05[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it could just be as simple as that as my worst memory.
- 1:36:10[SPEAKER_00]: That was heartbreaking.
- 1:36:13[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, the jail memory.
- 1:36:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's such a good day, too.
- 1:36:15[SPEAKER_00]: It messed me up.
- 1:36:16[SPEAKER_01]: My dad and I went early.
- 1:36:17[SPEAKER_01]: We were there like 9 a.m.
- 1:36:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's been the whole day, whole day at the Rose Bowl.
- 1:36:24[SPEAKER_00]: You take school off?
- 1:36:25[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you had to have.
- 1:36:26[SPEAKER_00]: It was January 4th.
- 1:36:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think we were back in school.
- 1:36:32[SPEAKER_00]: What?
- 1:36:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:36:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's crazy.
- 1:36:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:36:36[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I know I did the time before.
- 1:36:38[SPEAKER_01]: Is it the year before?
- 1:36:42[SPEAKER_01]: January 4th of 2005.
- 1:36:46[SPEAKER_01]: We went to lunch at the Home Depot Center at the time.
- 1:36:53[SPEAKER_01]: the restaurant that overlook in the, in the, like, sweets that overlooks the, um, the field.
- 1:37:00[SPEAKER_01]: We ate lunch there that day, which I don't know if it's the love, and you and I have talked about this, like, if it's open, it used to be open all the time for lunch, if it's still open, we need to go there.
- 1:37:11[SPEAKER_00]: We should.
- 1:37:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, together.
- 1:37:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's a, it's a good lunch, but I might be talking about something that closed 20 years ago.
- 1:37:17[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 1:37:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's always entirely possible.
- 1:37:20[SPEAKER_00]: No, lose into Maryland was pretty bad.
- 1:37:23[SPEAKER_00]: Says Mr. Puka had.
- 1:37:24[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, yes, yeah, that was not a good night.
- 1:37:28[SPEAKER_01]: Jail Mary is up there.
- 1:37:31[SPEAKER_00]: The 2007 loss to Stanford is a good poll.
- 1:37:35[SPEAKER_00]: But I think that that one's numb for me because I wasn't there that loss has gone numb for me because it's easier like a loss where I have an explanation for why it happened.
- 1:37:46[SPEAKER_00]: It is always just easier in my head and John David booty through foreign receptions and had a broken finger like.
- 1:37:52[SPEAKER_00]: He should not have been playing he shouldn't like that was that was a massive mistake to leave him in the game But a quarterback with a broken finger like it it just is what it is.
- 1:38:02[SPEAKER_00]: I've I've accepted that The other ones hurt because there's just no good like like Trojan death star saying losing to Tulane.
- 1:38:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, yeah that Tulane loss was just What in the world are we doing?
- 1:38:18[SPEAKER_00]: The jailmarry is what in the world are we doing?
- 1:38:22[SPEAKER_00]: Maryland?
- 1:38:23[SPEAKER_00]: What in the world are we doing?
- 1:38:25[SPEAKER_01]: You know, so Yeah, I I think it's the the Roosevelt that other other ones to mention organ to 1000 or
- 1:38:41[SPEAKER_01]: Well, organ 99 was a rough, rough one.
- 1:38:45[SPEAKER_01]: 2000, we got blown out the Coliseum.
- 1:38:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's about 2000.
- 1:38:50[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I mean, 2005, uh, lost to, you said, 2000 wasn't a blow out of the Coliseum.
- 1:38:55[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, 2006, less to UCLA.
- 1:38:58[SPEAKER_00]: Or was it 2007?
- 1:39:00[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 1:39:00[SPEAKER_00]: 2007 was.
- 1:39:01[SPEAKER_01]: 2006 was 13.
- 1:39:02[SPEAKER_01]: 2006 was 13.
- 1:39:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:39:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:39:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think I blocked that game out from, I remember, bits and pieces, but I don't remember.
- 1:39:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think I have protected my brain from however I felt after that game because I don't, I don't remember what I felt after it.
- 1:39:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm pretty sure I was just, yeah.
- 1:39:23[SPEAKER_01]: 2000 SC loses to Joey Harrington and number nine Oregon 28 and 17, but like that was a game where SC played as well as they could, but they just weren't not on the same caliber as that Oregon team.
- 1:39:36[SPEAKER_01]: So it never felt like they were actually going to do anything.
- 1:39:40[SPEAKER_01]: 99 is the game Carson Palmer gets hurt.
- 1:39:43[SPEAKER_01]: SC loses in triple overtime.
- 1:39:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's that one.
- 1:39:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's that one.
- 1:39:47[SPEAKER_01]: That one hurt a lot as a child.
- 1:39:50[SPEAKER_00]: Here's a poll.
- 1:39:50[SPEAKER_00]: Was it Washington State, the bubble screen game?
- 1:39:54[SPEAKER_00]: Or was that Stanford?
- 1:39:55[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's Washington State.
- 1:39:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:39:57[SPEAKER_01]: The 107?
- 1:39:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:40:00[SPEAKER_01]: She's that was some miserable poll.
- 1:40:02[SPEAKER_01]: No, my Washington State game that hurts for me is 2002 and over time.
- 1:40:09[SPEAKER_01]: That was the game that Troy Paul will all look its hurt and then David Leach has to come in for him and start like two games for him because he had a high ankle sprint It's also a game in which we had a power outage Hey!
- 1:40:23[SPEAKER_01]: Is there power outage or cable outage?
- 1:40:26[SPEAKER_01]: Something!
- 1:40:26[SPEAKER_01]: My dad and I listened to overtime on the radio Like we were watching the game and then and we were listening to the game on the radio while playing Samsonite football 2002 against Washington State
- 1:40:39[SPEAKER_00]: 2012 Sun Bowl, Roma Merdy is just a encyclopedia for miserable losses, you know.
- 1:40:47[SPEAKER_00]: Trojan fights as I put less stock in bowl game losses, sure they suck, but all the opt-outs, it's not a reflection on the season.
- 1:40:54[SPEAKER_00]: That's fair.
- 1:40:54[SPEAKER_01]: I've got the point that bowl games are just exhibitions at this point?
- 1:40:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:40:58[SPEAKER_01]: Which kills me because I want a bowl game to mean something, but they're just exhibitions and that sucks.
- 1:41:03[SPEAKER_01]: That sucks.
- 1:41:03[SPEAKER_01]: But like the TCU lost this past year.
- 1:41:07[SPEAKER_01]: Do not care.
- 1:41:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, do not care.
- 1:41:09[SPEAKER_01]: I stopped carrying the second game ended.
- 1:41:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm an ordered the bad tackling, but it was it didn't really matter.
- 1:41:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah Trying to look the 97
- 1:41:26[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, 96 you see a leg game at the at the Rose Bowl.
- 1:41:28[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, 2008, Oregon State will haunt me forever.
- 1:41:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:41:33[SPEAKER_00]: Because that was the difference between a national title and not.
- 1:41:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I couldn't get that day off of work because it was the third day.
- 1:41:40[SPEAKER_01]: It was working at Office Depot.
- 1:41:43[SPEAKER_01]: I had just started at Office Depot and it was spent the entire shift pulling a phone out of my pocket looking at the score.
- 1:41:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, uh, Texas Tech struggled with Oh, the 2006 Oregon State loss.
- 1:41:55[SPEAKER_01]: That's one that should be there.
- 1:41:57[SPEAKER_01]: Especially because it was a very freaking effort in the comeback.
- 1:42:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:42:02[SPEAKER_01]: Great game from Steve Smith, 258 receiving yards.
- 1:42:06[SPEAKER_01]: That should be up there.
- 1:42:08[SPEAKER_00]: There's we can just put all of the Oregon State losses at Corvallis.
- 1:42:11[SPEAKER_01]: The Cal, the Cal lost 2003.
- 1:42:15[SPEAKER_00]: Even though that was the triple over time.
- 1:42:21[SPEAKER_01]: Atchamondu was the runny back, right?
- 1:42:23[SPEAKER_01]: Um, was the triple over time was just, was the triple over time?
- 1:42:28[SPEAKER_01]: It was over time, I know that.
- 1:42:32[SPEAKER_01]: Aaron Rogers was a good in that game, but he was not as good as he was the following year.
- 1:42:35[SPEAKER_01]: The following year, it was like the best quarterback performance I've ever seen in my life.
- 1:42:42[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I think the, I think the jail Mary's definitely up there too.
- 1:42:46[SPEAKER_01]: All right, other things to mention in here.
- 1:42:53[SPEAKER_01]: Christian in the chat says, it's better to be polarizing than boring.
- 1:42:57[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I have two thoughts on this.
- 1:42:59[SPEAKER_01]: I agree, like in the sense of like, it's better to have something like,
- 1:43:06[SPEAKER_01]: Being boring is the worst thing ever because if you're boring, there's no reason to tune in.
- 1:43:12[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 1:43:13[SPEAKER_01]: At the same time, I don't want to be polarizing in the sense of like, I'm a Chelsea fan.
- 1:43:20[SPEAKER_01]: I do not want to be the Rory Jennings of U.S.C.
- 1:43:23[SPEAKER_00]: content.
- 1:43:24[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think Elisha wants to be the Jonathan Morley of Liverpool content.
- 1:43:28[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be, I don't want to be,
- 1:43:52[SPEAKER_01]: phrase it.
- 1:43:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, anyways.
- 1:43:57[SPEAKER_01]: We'll have it up there.
- 1:43:58[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be back Wednesday to preview SC and Rutgers, Strojo's going to Pascada away for the first time ever.
- 1:44:04[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll talk about that.
- 1:44:07[SPEAKER_01]: Until then, we will see you Wednesday night.
- 1:44:10[SPEAKER_01]: See you!
