- 0:15Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Who stood out at Rookie Mini Camp?
- 0:22Speaker 1: No Buddy.
- 0:22Speaker 3: I've always thought the coaches here have had really good energy.
- 0:25Speaker 3: I mean, I thought Bill's practices were always really high
- 0:27Speaker 3: tempo and coaches running to and front drills, and it
- 0:29Speaker 3: just didn't feel like a lot of time, you know,
- 0:31Speaker 3: being wasted. But I definitely took notice of the energy
- 0:35Speaker 3: just overall from all the coaches. I'd also just highlight
- 0:38Speaker 3: Scott Booker was the safety's coach. With one guy that
- 0:40Speaker 3: really just stood out to me, booming voice, knows what
- 0:43Speaker 3: he's looking for, watching the practice from the back end
- 0:45Speaker 3: of the defense, you know. Even Thomas Brown spending a
- 0:48Speaker 3: lot of time with Josh McDaniels on the field during
- 0:51Speaker 3: that practice as well, like someone was actually watching.
- 0:54Speaker 4: I think having a guy like Rabel and Josh McDaniels
- 0:57Speaker 4: on him, I think Bill will limit some of the mistakes.
- 1:01Speaker 1: This is Patriots Unfiltered.

- 1:10Speaker 2: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 1:14Speaker 2: at Gillette Stadium, and the schedule is out. That was
- 1:18Speaker 2: the big breaking news last night at eight o'clock. And
- 1:24Speaker 2: as as expected, the schedule looks good for the new
- 1:27Speaker 2: looks good. It's good, although there's some tough stretches and
- 1:30Speaker 2: we're going to get into that. We're gonna dissect the
- 1:33Speaker 2: what's that?
- 1:34Speaker 4: Do you think that?
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah? I do what I mean?
- 1:37Speaker 3: Your mic is on protected?
- 1:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it's okay, naked Mike, watch your piece.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Dog on the show here anyway?
- 1:45Speaker 2: Yeah, what happened to Paul Sponge? Paula you want the Sponge?
- 1:48Speaker 4: I just want to apologize out.
- 1:51Speaker 3: She's the one who said it's just so thank god cover.
- 1:55Speaker 2: So we'll talk about the schedule. Congratulations Celtics. You're showing
- 1:59Speaker 2: a little Selfltics pride last night. Proud of you. Evan's happy,
- 2:02Speaker 2: he'll be stot and what else? We might have a guest?
- 2:06Speaker 2: I think we're gonna have You're gonna have a guest.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Remember the defense?
- 2:08Speaker 1: I hope?
- 2:09Speaker 2: Okay, well talk some ball, you can only hope. What
- 2:12Speaker 2: else do we want to talk about? We're moving into
- 2:16Speaker 2: the schedule A lot of a lot of the schedule
- 2:18Speaker 2: is very exciting.
- 2:19Speaker 3: We have our slate of games which, uh, we knew
- 2:22Speaker 3: the opponents, and that's why I like what changed. Like,
- 2:25Speaker 3: I don't think there was an order you could have
- 2:27Speaker 3: put the opponents that would really affect the dynamic that much.
- 2:30Speaker 4: To me, Well, you would be in the minority. Everybody
- 2:33Speaker 4: thinks this sets up very well for the Patriots.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Well except for Paul, but anyway, I do think that
- 2:39Speaker 2: you know, it might like I already knew who they
- 2:41Speaker 2: were playing, like you know, like you know who we're
- 2:43Speaker 2: playing home and away for a long time. But I
- 2:45Speaker 2: think once you start putting it out, laying it out,
- 2:49Speaker 2: it does give a completely different dynamic to that slate
- 2:53Speaker 2: of opponents.
- 2:54Speaker 4: I would say it can. I don't think generally it does.
- 2:56Speaker 2: But yeah, well how they you know, you know who
- 3:00Speaker 2: they have to play before you and play after you
- 3:03Speaker 2: where it falls during the season. You know who you
- 3:07Speaker 2: open up against, who are your prime to I think
- 3:09Speaker 2: now it's now it makes it exciting, you know.
- 3:12Speaker 3: I think the two biggest takeaways for me are won
- 3:14Speaker 3: the three game road trip in October tough, just three
- 3:18Speaker 3: road games in a row. I think that's always difficult,
- 3:20Speaker 3: not a lot of travel for the Patriots overall this year.
- 3:22Speaker 3: And lastly, just the setup.
- 3:23Speaker 2: In terms of miles, in terms of the same amount
- 3:26Speaker 2: of travel as last.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Year, right in terms of just not across the country twice,
- 3:30Speaker 3: and but and then just the end of the bye
- 3:32Speaker 3: week is late like it was last year in week fourteen.
- 3:34Speaker 3: So if you if you lump Cincinnati into that in
- 3:36Speaker 3: week twelve, those last I guess it's six games you're
- 3:40Speaker 3: you're looking at, let's say Jets too, So that final
- 3:43Speaker 3: bit of the schedule where you're pushing Bills, Ravens, Jets, Dolphins.
- 3:47Speaker 3: If you're in the playoff mix, I think you can
- 3:49Speaker 3: control your own fate. If you can you can last
- 3:51Speaker 3: that long.
- 3:51Speaker 2: I mean hopefully that those last four games means something.
- 3:55Speaker 2: That's what you're hoping for, and if they do, it's
- 3:58Speaker 2: it's to me that's the big.
- 4:00Speaker 4: So is that why? People? And I'm just wondering because
- 4:03Speaker 4: I came in and I had one question for Mike today,
- 4:06Speaker 4: What am I missing? Why is this set up so well?
- 4:09Speaker 4: Because when I was listening to my shows driving in,
- 4:13Speaker 4: a lot of people were calling in, a lot of
- 4:16Speaker 4: people on the some of the hosts were suggesting this
- 4:20Speaker 4: was really good news, and I kind of looked at
- 4:23Speaker 4: the way you just your facial expression just said exactly
- 4:26Speaker 4: how I thought. I didn't. I don't know if it's
- 4:28Speaker 4: when I look at what the schedule like, not as
- 4:31Speaker 4: many factors as you painted out, but I do I
- 4:33Speaker 4: would say, you know, you're going to play a Thursday
- 4:35Speaker 4: night game. Generally almost almost everybody gets a Thursday night game.
- 4:39Speaker 4: I don't know about I think that.
- 4:41Speaker 3: I don't think. I think I don't.
- 4:41Speaker 4: I think there's some teams that don't have any prime time.
- 4:44Speaker 4: Tennessee it doesn't have any prime I.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Thought the rule now is everybody had to play one Thursday.
- 4:48Speaker 4: So I always look where is the prime where is
- 4:50Speaker 4: the Thursday night game? Because I think it's an enormous
- 4:52Speaker 4: advantage to be at home. So check mark plus Patriots.
- 4:55Speaker 4: The home game is Thursday night against the Jets on
- 4:58Speaker 4: the Thursday night. I think that's a good you know,
- 5:00Speaker 4: beyond that, I'm kind of with Mike. You know, a
- 5:03Speaker 4: three game road trip is not ideal, but you're playing
- 5:07Speaker 4: two teams that are, you know, at least at your
- 5:11Speaker 4: level in Tennessee and New Orleans on paper, So I
- 5:14Speaker 4: don't think it's an overly daunting three game road trip.
- 5:18Speaker 4: Uh and then that I think the end. So I'm wondering,
- 5:21Speaker 4: do you think people think it's set up really well
- 5:23Speaker 4: because it's kind of bottom heavy, the tough games seem
- 5:25Speaker 4: to come, Like Mike said, Cincinnati, Baltimore, Buffalo, Miami down
- 5:29Speaker 4: the stretch might give them a chance to have some
- 5:33Speaker 4: of the winnable quote unquote winnable games on paper earlier,
- 5:37Speaker 4: so you get to the point where you get to
- 5:39Speaker 4: the buy. So maybe maybe that's why people think it's
- 5:43Speaker 4: set up well.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Yeah, six six or seven in the AFC to end
- 5:46Speaker 3: the season, and then talk so much about Miami trying
- 5:49Speaker 3: to beat Tua, having Miami come here and what is
- 5:52Speaker 3: it going to be? January's still tbd. But that first
- 5:55Speaker 3: weekend in January, that's an exciting I hope that's an
- 5:58Speaker 3: exciting game that.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Mark positive calumn for the Patriots. Miami in January in Foxborough.
- 6:04Speaker 3: But you get a shot at Tua in the weather.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Will he be healthy by that point? This is a
- 6:08Speaker 3: team that I think most people, yeah right, they so
- 6:12Speaker 3: is a lot going into that Patriots haven't been able
- 6:14Speaker 3: to beat Tua. Tua hasn't been able to beat the cold,
- 6:18Speaker 3: something's got to give. So I mean, that could set
- 6:21Speaker 3: up to be a really exciting final game maybe if
- 6:24Speaker 3: if the Patriots are you know, in that area of
- 6:26Speaker 3: playoff contention. I like not having to like face the
- 6:30Speaker 3: Bills two times in the last three weeks, where maybe
- 6:33Speaker 3: one of those games you would have gotten the actual Bills.
- 6:35Speaker 3: But the last game, like last year, how much do
- 6:37Speaker 3: they really need that game? It's they're playing for something
- 6:40Speaker 3: else at that point. So the way that it lines
- 6:42Speaker 3: up with that Jets in Miami to and the to
- 6:44Speaker 3: the end of the season, you have again two opponents
- 6:47Speaker 3: in the division, a chance to make some noise and
- 6:49Speaker 3: improve your seating there as the season ends. Even if
- 6:51Speaker 3: you know, even if you had a bad year and
- 6:53Speaker 3: things didn't work out right like you still can finish strong,
- 6:56Speaker 3: you know, maybe with a win at the Jets and
- 6:58Speaker 3: a win against Miami.
- 6:58Speaker 6: What makes me a little nervous is that on paper,
- 7:01Speaker 6: there's a lot of games that maybe they should take
- 7:04Speaker 6: a lot of those in the beginning, and it's such
- 7:06Speaker 6: a new team and you don't know how they're going
- 7:08Speaker 6: to gel together, and are they going to take advantage
- 7:11Speaker 6: of the bad football early on because you want them
- 7:13Speaker 6: to be in a position to be rolling when these
- 7:16Speaker 6: really tough matchups against like the Ravens and Cincinnati comes
- 7:19Speaker 6: in the second half. But again you have to they
- 7:22Speaker 6: have to be ready to go to take advantage of
- 7:24Speaker 6: the first half.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I just I pointed out the example
- 7:28Speaker 3: of Week one where it's like Gino Smith. Gino Smith
- 7:31Speaker 3: was like flawless here last year. Now he's in a
- 7:34Speaker 3: new situation with a new coach and they were together.
- 7:38Speaker 3: But it's just there's so many variables. It's so hard
- 7:40Speaker 3: to look at and be like, who are the Raiders. Well,
- 7:42Speaker 3: I know who Gino Smith was last year. You know,
- 7:44Speaker 3: I saw the Patriots lose to a Raiders team, but
- 7:46Speaker 3: they're completely different. So that's where I'm with Paul. It's like,
- 7:50Speaker 3: we'll see, we'll see how it lays out, but you know,
- 7:52Speaker 3: the opponents that they have, it was never going to
- 7:55Speaker 3: be an absolute murder.
- 7:56Speaker 4: I won't disappoint you completely, Freddie. I will like sort
- 7:59Speaker 4: of off for the other side. And that's one of them.
- 8:02Speaker 4: I heard a lot of people say it's it's really
- 8:04Speaker 4: set up for them to get off to a great start. Well,
- 8:07Speaker 4: I would say, you have Miami. You have three of
- 8:10Speaker 4: the first four game, so I you know, I think
- 8:13Speaker 4: that that isn't an opportunity to get out to a
- 8:14Speaker 4: strong start if you can take care of business.
- 8:16Speaker 7: Now.
- 8:16Speaker 4: They haven't been a good home team the last couple
- 8:18Speaker 4: of years, but I would look at it and say Raiders, Dolphins,
- 8:22Speaker 4: Steelers to me, doesn't line up in my mind, as
- 8:27Speaker 4: you I have to a great start here.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Listen, like we won four games last year, right, I
- 8:32Speaker 2: would the Raiders, Dolphins and Steelers are looking at the
- 8:35Speaker 2: skin and say, oh, we got the Patriots.
- 8:36Speaker 4: I think if they could go two and two in
- 8:38Speaker 4: those first four, I think that would be okay. Yeah,
- 8:41Speaker 4: you know, because when was the last time they weren't
- 8:43Speaker 4: one and three?
- 8:44Speaker 3: Well, I mean, especially at Miami that's a house of horrors,
- 8:46Speaker 3: and week two for.
- 8:47Speaker 4: This team point, I think people are just looking at
- 8:50Speaker 4: the Raiders at home win.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Like, yeah, I'm always gonna look at it optimistically at
- 8:57Speaker 2: the beginning of every year that the moves that they've
- 8:59Speaker 2: made the new head coach Drake May in his second year,
- 9:03Speaker 2: that we're going to be better than we were last year.
- 9:06Speaker 2: You know, Pittsburgh is a team that they about these
- 9:08Speaker 2: other teams, maybe they're better.
- 9:11Speaker 4: That's why I hesitate to say, well, this the spot.
- 9:14Speaker 4: I don't know what the spot is until it gets there.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Right Like see now you learn you can't judge it
- 9:20Speaker 2: until you get this.
- 9:21Speaker 4: But I'm not talking about the I'm not talking about
- 9:24Speaker 4: the teams. I'm talking about the spots. Like this whole
- 9:26Speaker 4: thing of the schedule really sets up well for the Patriots. Well,
- 9:30Speaker 4: so if they if they're playing uh, let's say Atlanta, Okay,
- 9:35Speaker 4: November second, they play Atlanta. You know, did Atlanta start
- 9:39Speaker 4: the season like six and two. I don't think that
- 9:42Speaker 4: sets up well for you. But maybe they're you know,
- 9:44Speaker 4: maybe they're they're struggling. Maybe Pennix isn't you know, picking
- 9:48Speaker 4: it up right away. He's not doing Jayden Daniels last year.
- 9:51Speaker 4: He's doing what typical first time starters do when they struggle.
- 9:55Speaker 4: That sets up well for you. I have no idea
- 9:57Speaker 4: until we get to that stage of the season.
- 10:00Speaker 2: And the other thing you have to remember again, we're
- 10:02Speaker 2: a four in thirteen team, so we're playing a four
- 10:06Speaker 2: and thirteen schedule. Right of course we're playing the other
- 10:09Speaker 2: teams that aren't that good.
- 10:10Speaker 3: But that's so.
- 10:12Speaker 4: But it was the same last year.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Well that's the exactly so like right now, we're not
- 10:19Speaker 2: a good team until we prove otherwise.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Well, I said to Paula, we've been into relegation right
- 10:23Speaker 3: Like it's like the soccer and I've either got to
- 10:25Speaker 3: make a soccer comparison, but like they were in relegation
- 10:27Speaker 3: last year, and this feels again, you're a little bit
- 10:30Speaker 3: in relegation. You're paying the other teams that are kind
- 10:32Speaker 3: of like you, with new coaches and new quarterbacks and
- 10:34Speaker 3: maybe like Atlanta, a lot of people think they're on
- 10:36Speaker 3: the upswing. Maybe not, but it's the proving ground for
- 10:40Speaker 3: this team. Get out of the relegation, get into a
- 10:42Speaker 3: second or first place schedule, start playing the good teams.
- 10:45Speaker 3: But you got to do that by.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Beating out the I can't assume anything. I'm just hopeful that,
- 10:50Speaker 2: like I said, I laid out all those reasons that
- 10:52Speaker 2: we're better than we.
- 10:53Speaker 4: Were, and I do the same thing that everybody else does,
- 10:55Speaker 4: and I like it. I like I have fun doing
- 10:57Speaker 4: the oh, you know Raiders when Miami at Miami loss.
- 11:01Speaker 4: You know, like I do the same thing. Sure, but
- 11:05Speaker 4: I think that people look at some of the games
- 11:07Speaker 4: in a different way than I think you would look
- 11:09Speaker 4: at it if you was taking a step back objectively.
- 11:11Speaker 4: And yes, I think there are a lot of teams
- 11:14Speaker 4: like I would say just Carolina, New Orleans, Tennessee, Cleveland
- 11:19Speaker 4: like those. I in my view, those are a lot
- 11:22Speaker 4: of like teams, you know how you say the like
- 11:24Speaker 4: minded individual Those are like Patriots, teams that have struggled
- 11:28Speaker 4: in recent years and are trying to search for answers.
- 11:32Speaker 4: I think a lot of Patriots fans look at those
- 11:34Speaker 4: and say, win, win, win win. I look at that
- 11:36Speaker 4: and say two and two, and if you can do
- 11:39Speaker 4: better than that, that's gravy. Last year they couldn't do that.
- 11:42Speaker 4: Last year they had four or five of those games.
- 11:44Speaker 4: They won one of them. They beat Chicago, they lost
- 11:47Speaker 4: to Indianapolis, they lost to Jacksonville, they lost to Tennessee.
- 11:51Speaker 4: Those were all like minded teams. Last year they lost
- 11:55Speaker 4: almost all of them. Those were all games that I
- 11:57Speaker 4: think if we all looked at it at this time,
- 11:59Speaker 4: we'd say, that's winnable, that's winnable, that's winnable, And in
- 12:02Speaker 4: my mind, the winnable games you usually split.
- 12:05Speaker 6: Yeah, they won the Q, it's like unwinnable with the
- 12:07Speaker 6: Bengals and right, right, like the rest was just insult.
- 12:10Speaker 4: To injuries and that will happen. You know, There'll be
- 12:13Speaker 4: a game on here that you're not expecting them to win.
- 12:15Speaker 4: It they'll win, yeah, but there's gonna be games that
- 12:17Speaker 4: you are expecting them to win that they're gonna lose.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Now. Yeah, but I'm not gonna hide my enthusiasm that
- 12:23Speaker 2: last year I said ceiling with six. This year, I'm
- 12:27Speaker 2: saying ceiling is ten, you know, And because well they're
- 12:32Speaker 2: that much better. I hope, I hope.
- 12:34Speaker 3: I hope too.
- 12:35Speaker 4: I mean, but be nice to be able to talk
- 12:37Speaker 4: about a winning team again. Absolutely.
- 12:39Speaker 3: I think it's hard to talk about the team within
- 12:40Speaker 3: the context of the league right now.
- 12:42Speaker 4: It's a minute.
- 12:42Speaker 3: We can only talk about what we've seen the Patriots do.
- 12:45Speaker 3: And I just from the coaching decisions, the free agency additions,
- 12:48Speaker 3: the draft, I feel excited about this team. I felt
- 12:51Speaker 3: like this will be a better football team. How much better?
- 12:54Speaker 3: How will they stack up with these other teams? You
- 12:56Speaker 3: gotta wait and see how it how it comes together.
- 12:58Speaker 3: But I'm with you, Fred, like, I don't know how
- 13:00Speaker 3: it's all going to shake out, but I feel really
- 13:02Speaker 3: good about how they're putting this team together and the
- 13:04Speaker 3: position that they're in now, I just want to see
- 13:06Speaker 3: how how does it unfold? You know, how does this
- 13:08Speaker 3: team play under Mike Frable?
- 13:11Speaker 4: What does it look like the other team?
- 13:13Speaker 2: You know?
- 13:14Speaker 4: And that's part of like right out paid to So
- 13:19Speaker 4: you know, there's a game right now. Gun to my head,
- 13:22Speaker 4: if you had to tell me they're going to win
- 13:23Speaker 4: or lose, I have to pick a game that they're
- 13:25Speaker 4: gonna win. Gun to my head. I have a few options.
- 13:29Speaker 4: Tennessee would be one of my strong options, right, Okay,
- 13:33Speaker 4: what if cam Wood's good?
- 13:34Speaker 2: Right? Right?
- 13:35Speaker 4: What if he's Jaydon Daniels.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Like, yeah, exactly, what if he's c J Stroud even yes, first.
- 13:39Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, yeah. It's happened each of the last two years,
- 13:42Speaker 4: a team that was dreadfully bad got a rookie quarterback
- 13:45Speaker 4: who played right away and magically.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Was good, and the team elevated because of that.
- 13:51Speaker 4: So you just never know what if is the Browns quarterback?
- 13:53Speaker 3: But Week eight, what does that mean?
- 13:56Speaker 4: I don't know, but it is so Matt Morrell, make
- 14:00Speaker 4: sure you logged this one. You want to archive this
- 14:02Speaker 4: episode because this was the episode that Mike do so
- 14:06Speaker 4: was excited about the future that almost never happened. Now
- 14:10Speaker 4: I'm never really excited about anything.
- 14:12Speaker 3: So it was this one. I just I saw I'm
- 14:14Speaker 3: ver able to jump into practice, and I'm like, oh,
- 14:16Speaker 3: that's it. Ten wins. You could still play? Is he
- 14:19Speaker 3: gonna play?
- 14:20Speaker 4: Yeah? I agree with everything Fred said that. I'm looking
- 14:24Speaker 4: at all the different things that happened. None of us
- 14:27Speaker 4: knows for sure, but I think they made a lot
- 14:29Speaker 4: of good moves. I think they should be better. Yeah, yeah,
- 14:32Speaker 4: what I've seen and that should be better.
- 14:33Speaker 2: That's why I'm excited because of the moves, not the schedule, right,
- 14:37Speaker 2: I'm excited because of the moves.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Yeah, me too.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Schedule be damned. We'll play them when they come and
- 14:42Speaker 2: we'll play them when we go. It's because of the
- 14:44Speaker 2: moves we made that I'm excited.
- 14:46Speaker 3: But it's a much different perspective now, because I'm sure
- 14:49Speaker 3: when the schedule used to come out, when things were
- 14:51Speaker 3: humming around here, that you'd be like, all right, at
- 14:53Speaker 3: Kansas City, that's a that's a big game, right, Like
- 14:56Speaker 3: you start stacking a wood, Philly's coming here, Like you're
- 14:59Speaker 3: starting to play the first these ones, you know.
- 15:00Speaker 4: Same thing I used to do then, only in reverse.
- 15:03Speaker 4: I would look at the four or five tough games,
- 15:06Speaker 4: like I'd look at the Baltimore and the Buffalo thing,
- 15:09Speaker 4: and I would do the same thing.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Somebody.
- 15:10Speaker 4: You'll probably split those, yeah, do you know what I mean?
- 15:13Speaker 4: Like I never consent. Like people would look at that
- 15:15Speaker 4: and say, well, there's four losses right there. No, man,
- 15:18Speaker 4: they're the Patriots. They're not going to lose all four
- 15:20Speaker 4: of them. I used to be obnoxious, right right right now,
- 15:23Speaker 4: I'm obnoxious the other way.
- 15:24Speaker 3: Well, even as bad as the Patriots have been the
- 15:26Speaker 3: last couple of years in terms of wins, they still
- 15:28Speaker 3: have had those random wins over the Bills, right what you.
- 15:32Speaker 4: Know, it's completely it's bizarro now because to you a point,
- 15:36Speaker 4: like last year they beat Cincinnati. No one expected that,
- 15:38Speaker 4: Alex Well, there always was a loss to a team
- 15:42Speaker 4: that you never expect. This is no way they're going
- 15:44Speaker 4: to lose that game. Oh my god, they lost to Miami.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Ya. So let me ask you a question. Last year,
- 15:50Speaker 2: if Rabel was the head coach and he had his
- 15:53Speaker 2: staff that he has now, But the players are the
- 15:55Speaker 2: same player, No, the roster from twenty twenty four is
- 15:59Speaker 2: the same. The difference is Rable has, it's Vrabel and
- 16:03Speaker 2: Josh mcdaniels's you know, coordinator and all that. What do
- 16:06Speaker 2: you think their record would have been last year?
- 16:08Speaker 3: I think a couple more wins at least.
- 16:11Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, again, it's it's hard to say who
- 16:14Speaker 4: plays quarterback in Week one.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Everything would have.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Would written with Jacoby.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Everything, new games, everything else the same.
- 16:23Speaker 4: I would make an argument that there was probably a
- 16:27Speaker 4: coaching error that led to a loss. So five wins,
- 16:31Speaker 4: I'll say I.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Echoed those lines. I think there's a couple.
- 16:35Speaker 4: I think the dramatically more skilled on the field talent
- 16:39Speaker 4: wise right now than they were alive.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Oh yeah, but I think I think they would have
- 16:42Speaker 2: been able to take advantage of more mistakes than they
- 16:45Speaker 2: were last year, you know, because I mean I think
- 16:47Speaker 2: it was a little bit more prepared.
- 16:48Speaker 4: I mean probably, but it's I mean, I can't really
- 16:51Speaker 4: quantify it, and I don't think those that kind of
- 16:53Speaker 4: stuff generally translates to wins. It's hard.
- 16:56Speaker 3: It's just it goes back to when you were here
- 16:57Speaker 3: on Tuesday.
- 16:58Speaker 4: Fred.
- 16:58Speaker 3: It's like it's hard to give Mike Rabel and this
- 17:00Speaker 3: team of compliment without seeming like you're taking a dump
- 17:03Speaker 3: on last year, and like, I don't want to limit
- 17:05Speaker 3: how many dumps.
- 17:05Speaker 2: I say it would have been two more wins last year,
- 17:08Speaker 2: which means two more wins this year, which means the
- 17:10Speaker 2: floor is eight this year.
- 17:12Speaker 3: And that I think is their mean. Their mean wins
- 17:14Speaker 3: right now, it's like seven point eight. So you're right
- 17:16Speaker 3: around here, you're right, So I like likes the first
- 17:18Speaker 3: part of that.
- 17:19Speaker 4: Okay, so two more wins because I said one, so two.
- 17:21Speaker 4: I'm not gonna split split hairs. I don't have enough
- 17:23Speaker 4: to give up. But how did you jump from They've
- 17:27Speaker 4: won two more than last year, but they're gonna win
- 17:29Speaker 4: two more.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Follow the Rabel's staff. They won six games last year.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Now they make now, they make the moves, they make
- 17:40Speaker 2: all the moves they did. At minimum they get two
- 17:43Speaker 2: more wins. I just think it's floor is eight. The
- 17:47Speaker 2: floor is eight, floor is eight.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Bread is spoken, the ceiling is seven for Paul.
- 17:56Speaker 4: In that area. If but that makes sense, if we're
- 18:00Speaker 4: we're gonna go back and we want to again get
- 18:01Speaker 4: back to the archives. I'm pretty sure that Fred's ceiling
- 18:04Speaker 4: was I mean, Fred's floor was my ceiling last year too. Yeah,
- 18:09Speaker 4: I'm pretty sure.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Well, I I believe the floor you was, you know
- 18:13Speaker 3: in twenty twenty one of those were when we talk
- 18:15Speaker 3: with Bill that it was six. I thought a good
- 18:17Speaker 3: coaching staff, like just a well oiled team, that yeah,
- 18:19Speaker 3: they're gonna have injuries. But maybe that's a bad number,
- 18:22Speaker 3: but six was always that number for me if if
- 18:24Speaker 3: you had the staff in.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Place, so well we got we got somebody coming in
- 18:29Speaker 2: right now. Want a special guest to the Patriot's Unfiltered.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Jack Gibbons, Hey, Gregers.
- 18:36Speaker 4: He talks like he's on a talk show.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like it's ther Griffin show. Have a seat, Jack.
- 18:44Speaker 3: I think Jack, it's gonna be a little high for you.
- 18:47Speaker 2: So it's Mike Dusseau, I'm Fred Kurz, Paul Parrello, Alex Francisco.
- 18:51Speaker 2: This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 18:54Speaker 4: That's producer Matt Matt Morrell.
- 18:57Speaker 2: We were here all the time, twenty four hours a day.
- 18:59Speaker 2: They don't let us out, there's no windows. They just
- 19:01Speaker 2: bring in food. So but welcome to the team, Thank you,
- 19:05Speaker 2: thank you. I think every team needs a linebacker named Jack.
- 19:08Speaker 2: I think it should be a requirement. I agree with that.
- 19:10Speaker 3: That would help with my job security for sure.
- 19:13Speaker 1: There you go.
- 19:14Speaker 2: So, how's it been so far?
- 19:16Speaker 3: Yeah, it's been great.
- 19:17Speaker 7: Definitely loving the guys on the team, the coaching staff,
- 19:19Speaker 7: the culture here. I mean, it's cool to be a
- 19:21Speaker 7: part of a program that has such awesome history. And uh,
- 19:23Speaker 7: really enjoying the area too. I didn't really know much
- 19:26Speaker 7: about the Northeast of being from Texas coming out here.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Uh, it's a really beautiful part of the country.
- 19:30Speaker 4: So I'm enjoying it.
- 19:31Speaker 2: What have you learned so far about the Northeast?
- 19:33Speaker 3: I learned that when it's sunny, it's an awesome it sucks.
- 19:37Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll just stick with it first the weather's coming,
- 19:41Speaker 4: it's a nice nice for sure. Yeah.
- 19:44Speaker 3: So I'm just curious about your coming up with Mike
- 19:46Speaker 3: Frable and you know, breaking in a couple of years
- 19:48Speaker 3: ago and then really you know, in twenty twenty three,
- 19:50Speaker 3: I think you played a bunch under him, and you know,
- 19:52Speaker 3: what was the connection you made with him and how
- 19:54Speaker 3: did he help your development?
- 19:55Speaker 7: Yeah, definitely coming in as an undrafted guy, obviously, the
- 19:59Speaker 7: odds were kind of stacked against me, and I actually
- 20:01Speaker 7: actually cut me out of training camp and then I
- 20:03Speaker 7: got brought back on the practice squad and was kind
- 20:05Speaker 7: of grinding away for there and then finally got an
- 20:06Speaker 7: opportunity late in the year when guys started going down.
- 20:08Speaker 7: But I think a big thing with him, as he
- 20:10Speaker 7: always says, like, it doesn't matter how you got here,
- 20:12Speaker 7: it's what you do when you get here, And you
- 20:15Speaker 7: can earn opportunities by the way that you work, in
- 20:17Speaker 7: the way that you prepare and play. And so that's
- 20:19Speaker 7: something I really appreciated about him that they were willing
- 20:21Speaker 7: to give a guy who was an undrafted rookie, put
- 20:24Speaker 7: him out there and starting a Thursday night football game,
- 20:26Speaker 7: Like I mean, that was that was a great opportunity
- 20:27Speaker 7: for me, and luckily kind of played pretty well there
- 20:31Speaker 7: and earned some more opportunities going forward. Like you said,
- 20:33Speaker 7: but that's something that's really cool about this play, this
- 20:35Speaker 7: program and him and his staff is that they don't
- 20:37Speaker 7: really care how you got there.
- 20:38Speaker 3: It's what you do when you're there.
- 20:40Speaker 2: How would you describe like you're mostly in the middle,
- 20:42Speaker 2: or at least you were in Tennessee. How would you
- 20:44Speaker 2: describe your game as a linebacker? You're like like a
- 20:47Speaker 2: sideline to a sideline guy. How would you describe it?
- 20:50Speaker 7: Yeah, I like to I take a lot of pride
- 20:52Speaker 7: in being versatile player. Like that first game that I
- 20:54Speaker 7: was active as a rookie, actually played all three linebacker positions.
- 20:58Speaker 7: I was on the edge a little bit, both inside
- 21:00Speaker 7: backers spots, and uh. I'd like to say that I'm
- 21:02Speaker 7: a smart guy, pretty instinctive and be able to kind
- 21:05Speaker 7: of handle all that but then also anticipate what the
- 21:08Speaker 7: offense is going to give us and get a kind
- 21:09Speaker 7: of a head step. But I think in this league
- 21:12Speaker 7: you kind of have to be a complete linebacker. You
- 21:13Speaker 7: can't really be like just the old school run stopper
- 21:16Speaker 7: coverage guy. It's so I'm trying to kind of develop
- 21:19Speaker 7: my game and be in all those areas. Be good
- 21:21Speaker 7: and coverage, be good against the run, be good blitzing,
- 21:23Speaker 7: just kind of be a well rounded linebacker.
- 21:26Speaker 4: So is that sort of versatility where doctor Gibbie came from.
- 21:30Speaker 7: Yeah, that was kind of like my rookie year, And
- 21:33Speaker 7: like Ota is like this coach Rabel likes to ask
- 21:35Speaker 7: a lot of questions quiz guys, and I answered a
- 21:38Speaker 7: few of them right, and he started calling me doctor
- 21:40Speaker 7: and it kind of stuck there for a little while,
- 21:42Speaker 7: and then he left. It kind of died down and
- 21:44Speaker 7: now out here. He's kind of the only one called
- 21:46Speaker 7: me that maybe a few of the guys from Tennessee.
- 21:48Speaker 4: Mike's a bit of a smart for sure. He's been
- 21:51Speaker 4: busting my chops since he was playing.
- 21:53Speaker 6: So yeah, speaking of doctor, how are you feeling You
- 21:55Speaker 6: had a season engine injury last year?
- 21:57Speaker 7: Right, Yeah, that was definitely It's been a us as
- 22:00Speaker 7: getting back, But I'm feeling good. I'm out there practicing
- 22:03Speaker 7: with the guys, trying to get better every day, just
- 22:05Speaker 7: kind of continue to build those reps and get more comfortable,
- 22:08Speaker 7: trusting myself, trusting that I'm healed, and working really hard
- 22:11Speaker 7: in the training room with the staff in there, and
- 22:13Speaker 7: so it's going well.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Do you think having a head coach who was the
- 22:18Speaker 2: linebacker helps you? Yeah, definitely.
- 22:21Speaker 7: I mean from the beginning in Tennessee, Like in rookie
- 22:24Speaker 7: Minnie camp, we're sitting in there and he's coming in
- 22:25Speaker 7: and giving us a little nuggets here and there and
- 22:27Speaker 7: helping us see the game from a different perspective. So
- 22:31Speaker 7: definitely try to absorb all the knowledge that you have.
- 22:33Speaker 7: But he's a coach that really could coach all the
- 22:35Speaker 7: positions on the field. That's something I thought was really
- 22:37Speaker 7: cool is we'll always have these meetings where he's up
- 22:40Speaker 7: there coaching detailed technique about the O line, the corners,
- 22:43Speaker 7: the wide receivers, the linebackers and stuff. And so just
- 22:46Speaker 7: learned so much football of those two years in Tennessee
- 22:48Speaker 7: and that I was with him. And that's something I
- 22:50Speaker 7: really appreciate about him, is even on like special teams, everything,
- 22:53Speaker 7: he's he's coaching everything with details.
- 22:55Speaker 1: So that's cool.
- 22:55Speaker 3: I gotta ask you a little about the defense. So
- 22:57Speaker 3: I'm kind of the resident defense guy's I'm like, why,
- 23:02Speaker 3: actual defense guys, and they're all on me, But what
- 23:05Speaker 3: can you tell us about this defense? Because been here
- 23:07Speaker 3: for a while studying the old Patriots three to four,
- 23:10Speaker 3: going way back, where you got a lot of two
- 23:11Speaker 3: gappers and space eaters, and it would seem to me
- 23:14Speaker 3: that this defense with Tourell Williams is about attacking, about
- 23:17Speaker 3: getting up field. I know you can't give away too much,
- 23:19Speaker 3: but what can you tell us about this defense?
- 23:21Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 23:21Speaker 4: I think that.
- 23:22Speaker 7: For one, I think we've got a great group of guys.
- 23:24Speaker 7: I think we've got a lot of competition at every position,
- 23:26Speaker 7: which is going to help make the whole team better,
- 23:28Speaker 7: the defense better, and like you said, I think it's
- 23:30Speaker 7: going to be really aggressive. We're going to be uh.
- 23:33Speaker 7: I think everyone's trying to do things that are simple
- 23:35Speaker 7: for us but difficult for them. To try to marry
- 23:37Speaker 7: up some stuff, make things look like this, and then
- 23:39Speaker 7: we're comeing with something else, and I think that it's
- 23:41Speaker 7: gonna be really exciting.
- 23:41Speaker 3: I think that what it's going to bring it to
- 23:43Speaker 3: life is the guys.
- 23:44Speaker 7: And I think that we have the right guys that
- 23:45Speaker 7: are going to play hard and uh obviously super talented,
- 23:48Speaker 7: but be super connected already. The communication and connection and
- 23:52Speaker 7: out there on the field, off the field, the way
- 23:53Speaker 7: you guys talking to each other is better than I've
- 23:55Speaker 7: seen in my first three years. So I'm really excited
- 23:57Speaker 7: about that.
- 23:58Speaker 4: I'm going to ask you a little bit about what
- 24:00Speaker 4: the team did. Was it yesterday? Yeah, yesterday with the
- 24:03Speaker 4: you know, the community outings and with that experience was
- 24:06Speaker 4: like I know, Alex Jora.
- 24:07Speaker 9: I wasn't with Jack's group. I was with Brabels group.
- 24:09Speaker 9: But which which place?
- 24:11Speaker 10: Yeah, it was super cool.
- 24:12Speaker 7: I don't really know where everyone else went, but I
- 24:14Speaker 7: was at Pine Street, in which Holmo sheltered down in
- 24:17Speaker 7: South Boston and it was super cool. We were able
- 24:18Speaker 7: to make a meal for them and then serve it
- 24:21Speaker 7: to the most men's and women's shelter and interact with
- 24:24Speaker 7: them the people that were staying there, and get a
- 24:26Speaker 7: tour the facilities, kind of see what their life's like
- 24:28Speaker 7: with the mission that they're doing there, and they're doing
- 24:30Speaker 7: some amazing work. So it was super cool, super hombling
- 24:32Speaker 7: to be able to experience it.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Is getting out in the community important to.
- 24:35Speaker 7: You, Yeah, absolutely, that's something that I think is super cool,
- 24:39Speaker 7: and especially for the Patriots and coach for Abe and
- 24:41Speaker 7: them to provide such a cool opportunity like that where
- 24:43Speaker 7: we can go do that as a team. That even
- 24:44Speaker 7: brings us even closer together. And yeah, it's awesome to
- 24:47Speaker 7: be able to give back for y Camp.
- 24:48Speaker 2: We have many causes that are near and dear to you,
- 24:51Speaker 2: anything special.
- 24:52Speaker 7: Yeah, I really like to support anything that has to
- 24:54Speaker 7: do with like children's who especially children who were dealing
- 24:59Speaker 7: with like a terminal illness and things like that, So
- 25:02Speaker 7: like Saint Jude's and stuff like those causes that Ronald
- 25:05Speaker 7: McDonald house, things like that.
- 25:06Speaker 2: There's plenty of opportunity here for.
- 25:09Speaker 9: Great children's hospitals. Get you on some visits.
- 25:11Speaker 10: Absolutely.
- 25:14Speaker 3: I had a question, Oh, I can jump in with
- 25:16Speaker 3: a defense question.
- 25:17Speaker 2: I was going to say this, So schedule release came
- 25:19Speaker 2: out last night. Is that a big deal for players,
- 25:21Speaker 2: Like when the schedule comes out or it's like, what.
- 25:23Speaker 3: You haven't seen this right now?
- 25:24Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean I was definitely waiting for it and
- 25:26Speaker 7: looked at it, But like everything, by the time we
- 25:29Speaker 7: get to the season, it's one at a time, so.
- 25:31Speaker 2: You can't really look at it too big picture.
- 25:33Speaker 7: But it is cool to kind of see, like, I mean,
- 25:35Speaker 7: if we got I know, we got like three in
- 25:36Speaker 7: a row on the road, So thinking about something like
- 25:38Speaker 7: that about we're gonna have to really lock in for
- 25:40Speaker 7: that stretcher, especially if you've got like an international game
- 25:42Speaker 7: or something like that where your bye week is is
- 25:44Speaker 7: kind of what you're looking for.
- 25:45Speaker 1: But at the end of the.
- 25:46Speaker 7: Day, I mean, we kind of knew who we're gonna play,
- 25:47Speaker 7: and it's gonna be week by week kind of head
- 25:50Speaker 7: down focused on what's in front of you. So it's
- 25:53Speaker 7: it's kind of both I guess excited to see it,
- 25:54Speaker 7: but not not reading too much into it.
- 25:56Speaker 4: So that's basically when it comes out, you're looking at
- 25:58Speaker 4: individual things like nikes.
- 26:00Speaker 7: Yeah, I definitely want to see those primetime games, the
- 26:03Speaker 7: night games, any anything where he might have to travel,
- 26:05Speaker 7: just just kind of see it. But I mean, honestly,
- 26:08Speaker 7: like after last night, I kind of forget about it
- 26:10Speaker 7: until the season.
- 26:10Speaker 3: So sure, I got one more for you, Jack, Just
- 26:12Speaker 3: like Jack, you have to be Yeah, yeah, the game.
- 26:16Speaker 3: Just what was your impression of coming here and playing
- 26:18Speaker 3: the Patriots?
- 26:18Speaker 7: Like, oh, we actually were played them in Tennessee. I'm sorry, sorry, Yeah,
- 26:21Speaker 7: Patriots came out there. But yeah, I had a great
- 26:24Speaker 7: impression of the team, just the way that the Patriots
- 26:26Speaker 7: kept fighting and clawed their way back into that game,
- 26:28Speaker 7: and then Drake taking the guys down to tie the
- 26:31Speaker 7: game late and score. I was really impressed with his mobility. Uh,
- 26:34Speaker 7: he ran all over us. I was telling him that
- 26:36Speaker 7: the other day. I was like, I didn't know you
- 26:37Speaker 7: could run like that. But just yeah, I had a
- 26:39Speaker 7: great impression of the team, just kind of the way
- 26:40Speaker 7: they played and excited to get get on those guys
- 26:43Speaker 7: side and gets work.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Well, Jack, we'll let you get back to it. I
- 26:46Speaker 2: know you're busy. Anytime you want to come by you
- 26:49Speaker 2: know where we are now.
- 26:50Speaker 10: Yeah, awesome.
- 26:50Speaker 2: I appreciate you guys. Yeah, thanks, I'm Jack Gibbons.
- 26:53Speaker 4: Welcome aboard.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Thanks Jack, great, all right, Jack Gibbons, Jack good one,
- 27:01Speaker 2: good stuff.
- 27:02Speaker 3: Good stuff to get those defenders in here, paul Y.
- 27:06Speaker 4: Mike gets really excited when still smiling.
- 27:11Speaker 2: I like, I like, you know, undrafted, you know, gut cut.
- 27:15Speaker 3: Yeah, came back.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Reminded me Troy Brown, Yeah, got cut a couple times
- 27:19Speaker 2: by Parcels. Yeah, came back on the team and ended
- 27:21Speaker 2: up being like mister Patriot.
- 27:23Speaker 3: It's interesting how to me how he's going to fit
- 27:25Speaker 3: in with Ellis and Spolaine and like he I really
- 27:28Speaker 3: thought it was interesting hearing him say he played all
- 27:30Speaker 3: three linebacker positions, which you know, I'm not sure exactly
- 27:34Speaker 3: what they're gonna play a lot of nickel, which is
- 27:35Speaker 3: two linebackers, Like, who are those two guys? Thinks Spoleaine's
- 27:38Speaker 3: definitely one of them. But Gibbons is in that similar
- 27:41Speaker 3: mold of being able to run. And you know, that
- 27:44Speaker 3: was kind of one of the questions Nerdy that I
- 27:46Speaker 3: had teed up. But just that position at linebacker. We
- 27:48Speaker 3: talked about it a lot last year of how hard
- 27:50Speaker 3: it is to either get around or get through blocks.
- 27:54Speaker 3: And to recognize things. And you know, him talking about
- 27:57Speaker 3: the experience and the smarts of it all. I think
- 27:59Speaker 3: that must be such a big key for an inside linebacker,
- 28:02Speaker 3: getting experience understanding the blocking teams, because you it's just
- 28:05Speaker 3: so hard having played freshman football of the position that
- 28:08Speaker 3: you're coming on. But it was, you know, you almost
- 28:10Speaker 3: I got two guys coming out at you like I
- 28:11Speaker 3: understand the dynamics of the position, you know, on the
- 28:13Speaker 3: basic level, and from his perspective, it's it's it's nice
- 28:18Speaker 3: to have a guy like that who can run and
- 28:19Speaker 3: I think a lot a lot to the second level.
- 28:21Speaker 4: Yep, absolutely, all right, we'll.
- 28:23Speaker 9: Take a perfect New England name too.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Well, like I said, every team should have a linebacker
- 28:29Speaker 2: named Jack.
- 28:30Speaker 3: Don't you think I think so? Yeah, it's a good
- 28:32Speaker 3: good name yea, because of like Lambert and Ham.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Yeah, Jack Lambert Jack Ham, Yeah.
- 28:37Speaker 4: Jack Campbell Detroit that was Yeah, I can't think of
- 28:40Speaker 4: any others.
- 28:41Speaker 3: There's a lot of Jacks out there now. That was
- 28:42Speaker 3: a very popular name. I feel like the last like
- 28:44Speaker 3: decade or so of.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Everybody's doesn't Ohio State have a Jack Jackson? Yeah?
- 28:50Speaker 9: Jackson is like the new take on the name.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, all right, A five to five, Pats five hundred.
- 28:56Speaker 2: It's the hotline podcast at Patriots dot com. Is the
- 29:00Speaker 2: email address. I know the newsletters going out tomorrow and
- 29:04Speaker 2: a lot of documentary stuff going on in there.
- 29:06Speaker 9: Well why don't you tell us why?
- 29:08Speaker 2: Because tomorrow the Patriots are releasing Forged in Foxborough and
- 29:14Speaker 2: I don't know the exact time that it will drop,
- 29:16Speaker 2: but you'll be able to see it on YouTube. Primarily.
- 29:19Speaker 2: It's a it's a full length thing. It's over an
- 29:21Speaker 2: hour long, and it's uh, it's episode one. There'll be
- 29:25Speaker 2: another episode coming out later closer to training camp. But
- 29:29Speaker 2: I'm really excited about what people have to say about it.
- 29:32Speaker 3: I'm excited too. These are right up my alley. These
- 29:35Speaker 3: are the kind of things so that we produce where
- 29:36Speaker 3: I don't really want to watch it until it's actually out,
- 29:39Speaker 3: like it would kind of ruin it to be part
- 29:41Speaker 3: of Like I'm not part of the process with it,
- 29:42Speaker 3: so it's like kind of nice for me just wait
- 29:44Speaker 3: till it's done and then experience it with the fans.
- 29:46Speaker 3: But I see it looks it looks really really fun.
- 29:49Speaker 3: A lot of behind the scenes stuff you.
- 29:50Speaker 4: Have to experience it with the fans, right, with the people.
- 29:54Speaker 2: He's a fan at heart. I'll always be a fan.
- 29:57Speaker 3: That's right, It's all right. I can't forget my people.
- 29:59Speaker 4: Yeah, so Mike's working on some some nineteen eighty five Patriots.
- 30:05Speaker 3: I got it to write a game day article. But
- 30:07Speaker 3: the way I've been doing it is, I went, I've
- 30:09Speaker 3: been watching the TV broadcast at the game in order.
- 30:11Speaker 4: So it's, uh so that's bringing me back.
- 30:12Speaker 3: It's a rock fight. It's oh my god, it's But
- 30:18Speaker 3: I was telling Paul, it's funny watching the TV broadcast
- 30:21Speaker 3: because you pick up a lot from the announcers. They
- 30:23Speaker 3: have little stories and so you know, it's not just
- 30:25Speaker 3: like looking at the box score telling you how it unfolded.
- 30:28Speaker 3: But one funny thing I told Paul was they were
- 30:30Speaker 3: playing the Bucks, and you know, Steve de Berg is
- 30:34Speaker 3: just incompletion, incompletion, and then they show like Steve Young
- 30:37Speaker 3: on the sideline. Well, they can't play him yet now
- 30:39Speaker 3: it's too soon for him. Maybe next year.
- 30:41Speaker 4: It's like, why are you going to a future fam.
- 30:43Speaker 3: You got a Hall of Famer just sitting watching the
- 30:45Speaker 3: game and they're like, we can't play. I mean, it's
- 30:48Speaker 3: like October, I'm like, what he needs the whole year off.
- 30:50Speaker 3: But you see, uh, you know rookie Bruce Smith was
- 30:53Speaker 3: also that year and just destroying the Patriots. But it's
- 30:56Speaker 3: it's fun to you know, just go back and inform
- 30:59Speaker 3: I'll be interviewing some of those guys.
- 31:00Speaker 4: So it'll be good.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Nice look forward to that. And then again Forge and
- 31:04Speaker 2: Foxborough will drop tomorrow, so good stuff.
- 31:07Speaker 3: It's almost it's long too right for the Forge of I.
- 31:09Speaker 2: Said, well, this episode is over an hour. Yeah, hell yeah, yeah,
- 31:13Speaker 2: And it's it's all like Alex said, all behind the
- 31:18Speaker 2: scenes stuff. The staff, the football staff gave us great
- 31:23Speaker 2: has given us great access, continuing to give us great access.
- 31:27Speaker 9: Have you guys ever had access like this?
- 31:29Speaker 4: Not to we never had access to the team meeting.
- 31:32Speaker 4: That being shot, that's I think the only thing that
- 31:34Speaker 4: we haven't had access to.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Well, I think and also a lot of them, like
- 31:40Speaker 2: we're in the weight room, where like we never were
- 31:42Speaker 2: able to get that.
- 31:43Speaker 3: You know, is there a certain point, Fred, I mean
- 31:46Speaker 3: without get giving anything away, but is there a certain
- 31:47Speaker 3: point that was most interesting to you, Like was it
- 31:50Speaker 3: like the combine behind the scenes or the draft behind
- 31:52Speaker 3: the scenes, or anything like that that that stood out
- 31:55Speaker 3: to you as as as being.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Well, like Paul said, you know, getting having being able
- 32:01Speaker 2: to be there for the first team meeting. We've never
- 32:05Speaker 2: seen that before.
- 32:05Speaker 4: We've never done that, you know, I've never even shot it. Like,
- 32:07Speaker 4: there's a lot of these things that we've been able
- 32:10Speaker 4: to have cameras at in the past. You they're not
- 32:12Speaker 4: always made public, but we've been able to have sort
- 32:16Speaker 4: of eyes and ears to shoot things this like that
- 32:20Speaker 4: team meeting. I don't to my knowledge anyway, I don't
- 32:22Speaker 4: think we've ever had access to that's a first time ever.
- 32:25Speaker 3: Such a big moment for Vrabel too, because first time
- 32:27Speaker 3: speaking to the team, setting the tone. We saw the
- 32:29Speaker 3: clip that he had with Kaden Wallace, which I liked.
- 32:32Speaker 3: I like when coaches do that kind of creative stuff.
- 32:34Speaker 3: So I'm excited.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, we've never been had quite the access
- 32:39Speaker 2: that we had this year at the combine. You know,
- 32:42Speaker 2: being up in the suite, you'll see it. I don't
- 32:46Speaker 2: want like, I don't want to give not I don't
- 32:47Speaker 2: want I want people to be able to see it. Yeah,
- 32:52Speaker 2: but I think if you're a Patriots fan and you
- 32:56Speaker 2: watch this thing, you're ready to go. You're gonna finish
- 32:58Speaker 2: this thing. So let's go. Let's get this season going.
- 33:01Speaker 2: We've got the schedule. Come on, let's skip training camp.
- 33:04Speaker 2: Let's get right out there, put the pads on, let's go.
- 33:06Speaker 4: I love it, so I'm always for that training camp,
- 33:12Speaker 4: all right?
- 33:14Speaker 2: So eight five five pats, five hundred. Let's get into
- 33:16Speaker 2: it a little bit. I forgot to give Matt morell
- 33:18Speaker 2: my one shorder. Oh you got it? What you get
- 33:22Speaker 2: me chicken fingers?
- 33:22Speaker 1: I got your cheese pizza.
- 33:23Speaker 2: I can't hear you. What did you say? Hold on,
- 33:28Speaker 2: he's learning how to run the board. That still doesn't work.
- 33:34Speaker 2: All right, that's all right. I trust that you'll have
- 33:36Speaker 2: food for me. All right, thank you?
- 33:38Speaker 4: Okay, Freddy, Freddy will not waste away.
- 33:41Speaker 2: Let's go to Nate, Connecticut. What's up Nate?
- 33:45Speaker 11: Hey guys, you guys hear We're good.
- 33:48Speaker 8: So I had a quick thoughts and a couple of questions.
- 33:51Speaker 8: You guys, So I I saw the schedule.
- 33:54Speaker 12: Of release last night. I thought it was really well done.
- 33:58Speaker 12: But something to point out that.
- 34:00Speaker 8: We're going against the Raiders weak one, and I think
- 34:02Speaker 8: that's a really good matchup because all the free agency
- 34:06Speaker 8: and the draft to be put into the d line.
- 34:10Speaker 8: Going against Ashton GenZ, I think that will be a
- 34:12Speaker 8: really good matchup because you know Ashton gents. He's saying,
- 34:16Speaker 8: like to NFL dms, like draft the guy you can't tackle,
- 34:21Speaker 8: Just stuff like that. And my second question to you
- 34:24Speaker 8: guys is, since we're going against the Ravens and a
- 34:28Speaker 8: couple other teams this year they have mobiles quarterbacks, do
- 34:32Speaker 8: you think we're gonna have success or even better success
- 34:36Speaker 8: since we have like all the mobile linebackers like Roberts
- 34:39Speaker 8: playing and like Jack Gibbons. That was just in studio and.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, thanks Nate. So a couple of questions thereic
- 34:46Speaker 2: you know, going up against Ashton Genty, Hey, it's gonna
- 34:48Speaker 2: be his first real NFL game. I'm assuming he's gonna
- 34:52Speaker 2: play in the preseason, but this will be the first
- 34:54Speaker 2: time he's probably gonna play maybe against starters from the
- 34:57Speaker 2: other team. So that's gonna be great to watch.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Good.
- 35:00Speaker 3: But it's like it goes back to Paul's point, like
- 35:02Speaker 3: we'll see, we'll see what he is some of us
- 35:04Speaker 3: like Dush and Genty coming out but.
- 35:08Speaker 1: Draft.
- 35:09Speaker 2: But you know, whether it's Genty or his second question
- 35:12Speaker 2: defending mobile quarterbacks. I'll ask our defensive guy here, do
- 35:15Speaker 2: you think the Patriots are more equipped to do that
- 35:18Speaker 2: this year? Are they a faster defense?
- 35:20Speaker 3: I mean a little bit, but I would say I
- 35:22Speaker 3: think you're gonna get with the good. I think there'll
- 35:24Speaker 3: be some bad too. I think you'll be able to,
- 35:27Speaker 3: uh not be as susceptible to early down passing because
- 35:31Speaker 3: you're not going to have the early down two gaping
- 35:33Speaker 3: guys just trying to build the wall, not getting penetration
- 35:36Speaker 3: because on those early downs that's easy for the quarterback.
- 35:38Speaker 3: There's no pressure coming around. I think this defense is
- 35:40Speaker 3: getting off the ball every single time. So on one hand,
- 35:44Speaker 3: you're going to be better against the pass on early downs,
- 35:46Speaker 3: But I also think that that has the opportunity to
- 35:48Speaker 3: open up lanes and gaps and so there you might
- 35:51Speaker 3: get gash from time to time. Yes, having mobile linebackers
- 35:54Speaker 3: should help running down quarterbacks. But again, if you're aggressive
- 35:58Speaker 3: and then you take a false step again Lamar Jackson,
- 36:00Speaker 3: it could be six points. So it's it's a double
- 36:03Speaker 3: edged short A little bit to me. You hope you
- 36:05Speaker 3: win more than you lose.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Yeah, you become a little bit more vulnerable but you
- 36:08Speaker 2: have the ability to make more plays.
- 36:09Speaker 3: But get more speed on the field. And I think
- 36:11Speaker 3: that that's that's something that is apparent to me across
- 36:14Speaker 3: the across the place. I mean, just look, you swap
- 36:16Speaker 3: out Milton Williams for Devon gotcha. I mean, I know
- 36:19Speaker 3: that they kind of played different positions, but at the
- 36:22Speaker 3: same time, between spa lane between Jack Gibbons, between even
- 36:25Speaker 3: Christianelli's like, everybody can run. Now, there isn't that big
- 36:28Speaker 3: middle linebacker that you're like, well, he's not going to
- 36:30Speaker 3: be quite able to get the edge against the faster quarterbacks.
- 36:34Speaker 2: David's in Florida. Hey David, Hey, guys, how's it going good?
- 36:42Speaker 12: So I had a little bit of constructed criticism and
- 36:45Speaker 12: then I had a question afterwards. I'll start with the
- 36:48Speaker 12: constructive criticism. So I watched the schedule leaf video we
- 36:52Speaker 12: put out yesterday, and I feel like it was a
- 36:54Speaker 12: little bit underwhelming, which one I understand the Dave Portnoy one.
- 36:59Speaker 2: Okay, I know it can't.
- 37:02Speaker 12: Be fireworks every year, because the last couple of years
- 37:04Speaker 12: we've had some really great ones. I just felt like
- 37:06Speaker 12: it was a little bit underwhelming and it wasn't as
- 37:09Speaker 12: as creative. That's all obviously not really a huge.
- 37:12Speaker 1: Deal, but not fair enough.
- 37:15Speaker 2: Yep.
- 37:16Speaker 12: And then for my question, it's like a three part
- 37:18Speaker 12: question year. So looking at our schedule, which game are
- 37:23Speaker 12: you most excited for as a fan? Which one are
- 37:26Speaker 12: you most confident in? And then which one are you
- 37:29Speaker 12: most scared of?
- 37:30Speaker 2: Get Okay, most confident, most excited, and most scared of?
- 37:35Speaker 2: Thanks Dave.
- 37:36Speaker 3: I'm gonna go, uh excited at Buffalo Sunday night football.
- 37:40Speaker 3: Maybe Dig's coming back against his old team. It's just
- 37:43Speaker 3: a real chance to make a real win there. Uh
- 37:47Speaker 3: game that I what do you say? Was scary?
- 37:48Speaker 2: Most scared, and most scared?
- 37:50Speaker 3: It's the last game against Miami, having an opportunity to
- 37:53Speaker 3: maybe get in the playoffs or do something and then
- 37:55Speaker 3: losing again to two. Yeah, that scares me again, especially
- 37:58Speaker 3: at home.
- 37:59Speaker 2: Most I have to say right now, I'm most excited
- 38:02Speaker 2: for the home opener. You know, it's the home opener.
- 38:05Speaker 4: That was my nice most excited about home opener. Yeah,
- 38:09Speaker 4: we have.
- 38:09Speaker 3: A bummer being on the road for the opener. I
- 38:11Speaker 3: feel like, you know, yeah, yeah.
- 38:12Speaker 4: And the most that's scared of at Baltimore.
- 38:16Speaker 3: I fear no, man, I don't like that game.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Well, see, I'm not scared of that one because I
- 38:20Speaker 2: know it's going to be no, like like, we're probably
- 38:24Speaker 2: going to lose that game. He grew up on the
- 38:26Speaker 2: game like, well, that's why I'm afraid of that. So
- 38:28Speaker 2: it's not a game like I'm I'm most scared of
- 38:31Speaker 2: at New Orleans because I'm not. We don't do really
- 38:35Speaker 2: well there.
- 38:36Speaker 4: I'm not a baby, so I'm not afraid of teams
- 38:37Speaker 4: that we should be. I think that's the game most That's.
- 38:40Speaker 2: The point you look at and say, oh, we should
- 38:42Speaker 2: beat that. But we do well in New Orleans and
- 38:45Speaker 2: if we lose again, I don't know why.
- 38:47Speaker 4: When was the last time we lost there?
- 38:49Speaker 2: We lose there a lot, Paul, we do.
- 38:51Speaker 4: When was the last time.
- 38:51Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't, I forget, but I just
- 38:54Speaker 2: remember Brees. I just I just remember going there and
- 38:59Speaker 2: not doing well.
- 39:01Speaker 4: You know.
- 39:02Speaker 2: So, but it's a game like I feel we should
- 39:05Speaker 2: win and if we don't win, like.
- 39:07Speaker 4: That's the game I'm most confident.
- 39:08Speaker 2: I'm scared of losing that game. Yeah, that's understanding the
- 39:11Speaker 2: game I'm most confident in at Bengals.
- 39:20Speaker 4: Perfect. That's the fredest answer ever. I love it.
- 39:23Speaker 2: That's an awesome answer At Bengals.
- 39:26Speaker 3: I mean, did you hear Trey hendrickson the other day?
- 39:28Speaker 3: I mean something every year with these guys with contracts,
- 39:31Speaker 3: I mean it's it's like trying together things with silly putty.
- 39:35Speaker 3: Right now, what are we.
- 39:37Speaker 2: Doing over there?
- 39:37Speaker 4: We're looking at the schedule. We play Penn State in
- 39:41Speaker 4: like October. What's that the Cleveland browns helmet looks like
- 39:45Speaker 4: the Penn State House. I have twelve peoples.
- 39:49Speaker 9: It just it's white.
- 39:50Speaker 4: It's a white home.
- 39:51Speaker 3: Maybe they're color blood.
- 39:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:53Speaker 4: I had a lot of people reaching out to me
- 39:55Speaker 4: last night since one is Penn stayed on the schedule.
- 39:58Speaker 4: It's like, I don't know. I don't have people make
- 40:00Speaker 4: fun of me, like I don't control.
- 40:04Speaker 3: Having no logo and just an orange helmet, Like come.
- 40:06Speaker 2: On, maybe that's their color rush helmet.
- 40:08Speaker 9: I don't, No, it's just because our graphic is read.
- 40:12Speaker 4: So what game are you most looking forward to? Alex?
- 40:15Speaker 6: I would say home opener, just because it's it's so exciting,
- 40:19Speaker 6: you know, there's just an energy about being down on pregames.
- 40:23Speaker 2: Hope springs eternal, everybody all.
- 40:25Speaker 6: Right, No one's lost hope yet We saw life in
- 40:27Speaker 6: our eyes. The Panthers game doesn't really frighten me much
- 40:32Speaker 6: at all.
- 40:34Speaker 4: That was an candidate for my most confident What are
- 40:37Speaker 4: you mostly scared of?
- 40:38Speaker 9: I'm most scared of that last Dolphins game.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Yeah, but it is home, but that's why.
- 40:47Speaker 3: But it kind of scares me for reasons like you
- 40:48Speaker 3: said of like there's a little like pressure. Actually if we're.
- 40:52Speaker 6: In a situation where we can make a little win
- 40:55Speaker 6: win and you're in.
- 40:56Speaker 3: Yeah, right, and two is healthy?
- 41:00Speaker 4: But who it never wins when the temperature is below
- 41:02Speaker 4: forty but.
- 41:02Speaker 3: It's gonna be forty degrees at game time?
- 41:05Speaker 4: What does it mean?
- 41:06Speaker 9: Something's gotta give forty degrees that that time of years.
- 41:09Speaker 2: All right, let's let's hit up cam in East Providence.
- 41:13Speaker 2: What's up cam com?
- 41:16Speaker 11: How's it going, can you guys hear me?
- 41:17Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 41:18Speaker 3: Good energy?
- 41:19Speaker 11: How's it going? So I have a question and then
- 41:21Speaker 11: I have an and like, yeah, I have two questions.
- 41:23Speaker 11: So the first one is, so I'm the one at
- 41:26Speaker 11: training camp I make the big posters for the players.
- 41:29Speaker 11: So I was wondering, can one do you guys give
- 41:31Speaker 11: me a player to make That's one of the questions.
- 41:34Speaker 11: Can you guys pick any player on the roster.
- 41:36Speaker 3: So I can make them Roberts Blynn.
- 41:39Speaker 11: Robert Blain, all right, sounds good.
- 41:40Speaker 13: Second question, Moses going into the going into training camp
- 41:45Speaker 13: with the stacked wide receiver women that we have, who
- 41:47Speaker 13: is on their verge of on their way out?
- 41:52Speaker 4: I missed that because Fred was butchering names and they
- 41:55Speaker 4: threw me off. Who was on his way out?
- 41:59Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 42:00Speaker 4: Who?
- 42:00Speaker 13: Like?
- 42:02Speaker 4: Why is someone on their way Like?
- 42:03Speaker 11: Who who's on the chopping block? In the wide block?
- 42:06Speaker 4: Okay, wide receiver?
- 42:08Speaker 2: Wide receiver might be comes to mind, you know, like
- 42:11Speaker 2: there's a they're not They're not going to have the
- 42:13Speaker 2: same amount of receivers in September that they have now,
- 42:16Speaker 2: So there's quite a few.
- 42:18Speaker 4: Yeah. I think born in Booty are probably on that list.
- 42:22Speaker 4: I think Baker was probably on that list.
- 42:24Speaker 3: These Do you think a trade.
- 42:28Speaker 4: I don't, Okay, I mean, I don't really know if
- 42:31Speaker 4: any of those guys has much trade value. But yeah,
- 42:34Speaker 4: I mean i'd take the day three pick for anybody
- 42:36Speaker 4: if I do you take it?
- 42:37Speaker 2: But do you think that's that's how they'll be?
- 42:39Speaker 3: No?
- 42:39Speaker 4: I think that someone will end up getting released, right.
- 42:41Speaker 4: I think they'll probably keep this group largely intact into
- 42:45Speaker 4: the off season into the OTAs, which, by the way,
- 42:47Speaker 4: we'll get a look at what our first look at
- 42:49Speaker 4: the entire team next week at an o T. I
- 42:52Speaker 4: think the twentieth Yeah, I think it.
- 42:54Speaker 3: Might be during this show too, so thanks to adjust.
- 42:58Speaker 4: So maybe I will not be getting a little then
- 43:00Speaker 4: maybe you.
- 43:01Speaker 2: Would maybe time we'll see talk about it.
- 43:04Speaker 4: So yeah, I mean I think that friend's got it.
- 43:08Speaker 4: I think it's like a born Booty Baker but the
- 43:11Speaker 4: killer Bees.
- 43:11Speaker 3: But I like your point about Booty because I to
- 43:14Speaker 3: be honest, Yeah, I mean that's and that's generally how
- 43:16Speaker 3: I feel too. But guy who made a second your leap,
- 43:20Speaker 3: and now he's got Josh McDaniel's coming in, and what
- 43:23Speaker 3: can he do with Kai Shawn Booty. I'm not overly
- 43:26Speaker 3: like optimistic that he's gonna continue to grow, but I
- 43:30Speaker 3: think he's done everything he possibly can to deserve every chance.
- 43:34Speaker 2: May not start. That's part of the that opens up
- 43:39Speaker 2: a spot at least for a few weeks for somebody.
- 43:42Speaker 4: If he's pup to start, which a lot of people
- 43:44Speaker 4: have sort of speculated.
- 43:46Speaker 9: Yeah, you can kind of let it play out into
- 43:48Speaker 9: the season.
- 43:48Speaker 3: To me, I look at Bourne with that situation, because
- 43:51Speaker 3: I think Born is the most suitable second backup behind
- 43:55Speaker 3: Digs of what they're going to ask Digs to do.
- 43:57Speaker 2: You know, you look at all right, who's a lock?
- 43:59Speaker 2: I think I think obviously Digs at some points a
- 44:02Speaker 2: lock with him. I think Polk, believe it or not,
- 44:05Speaker 2: I think he's a lock for now. I do. And
- 44:08Speaker 2: I think obviously Kyle Williams is a lot.
- 44:10Speaker 4: He's a lock. You know, Hollins is a lock, and
- 44:15Speaker 4: Doug four and Douglas is a lock. I do not
- 44:17Speaker 4: think Polk is a lock.
- 44:18Speaker 2: So I'm at five year at four, Yeah, I have.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Four locks, Yeah, yeah, I mean that sounds about it.
- 44:23Speaker 2: And how many are gonna keep seven?
- 44:26Speaker 4: Probably six? Yeah, so you know, but it could I
- 44:30Speaker 4: mean you could keep seven too, especially if Diggs is
- 44:32Speaker 4: one of those seven, and you know, maybe he's not
- 44:35Speaker 4: on pup but maybe not quite ready to go, like
- 44:37Speaker 4: you know, one of those kinds of deals the.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Only thing so people will have to you know, because and.
- 44:41Speaker 4: I did think it was interesting. When Kendrick Bourne talked
- 44:44Speaker 4: last week, he mentioned that he sort of underestimated the
- 44:48Speaker 4: recovery and how much that it still affected him coming
- 44:53Speaker 4: off the Tory acl that he had the previous season
- 44:56Speaker 4: and he didn't feel like he was quite himself. So
- 45:00Speaker 4: even if you're out there playing and you're one hundred
- 45:02Speaker 4: percent quote unquote, maybe you're not quite ready to be
- 45:05Speaker 4: Stefan Diggs yet.
- 45:06Speaker 2: Yep, I haven't.
- 45:12Speaker 3: It's been a busy week since I noticed.
- 45:15Speaker 2: Two days ago you weren't at work and today you are.
- 45:18Speaker 2: Is anything different between two days ago and today?
- 45:20Speaker 10: Well, I took a pre scheduled day off on.
- 45:24Speaker 2: Pre scheduled so you knew the Celtics going.
- 45:27Speaker 14: No I Want concert on Monday night, and uh, I
- 45:32Speaker 14: ripped it up pretty good, feeling the next morning, I
- 45:35Speaker 14: am still body surf, I'm old and I still have
- 45:39Speaker 14: not recovered.
- 45:41Speaker 10: And then I was at the Celtics game.
- 45:42Speaker 2: You got into it with a fan.
- 45:46Speaker 10: No, I did not get into it with anybody at
- 45:49Speaker 10: the Candle Mark concert last night. At the Celtics game.
- 45:52Speaker 10: I can't really say it as much, but no, I'm
- 45:56Speaker 10: just kidding.
- 45:58Speaker 9: I did have an incident at a game this year,
- 46:00Speaker 9: didn't you.
- 46:01Speaker 10: Oh, I look, I I stay out of trouble. My
- 46:06Speaker 10: father keeps me out of trouble. Actually, to be honest,
- 46:08Speaker 10: sometimes when road team fans come gotta have road etiquette
- 46:13Speaker 10: to Celtics games. It drives me nuts. I'm not gonna lie,
- 46:17Speaker 10: It absolutely drives me.
- 46:18Speaker 4: Up a wall, even if they have road fan etiquette
- 46:20Speaker 4: or if.
- 46:22Speaker 10: It's like through the wrong way, regardless.
- 46:25Speaker 2: You feel like I'm at home. I want to be
- 46:27Speaker 2: able to enjoy the game among my fans, among other yeaes.
- 46:31Speaker 10: And like I'll just say, last night, these Knicks fans
- 46:34Speaker 10: came in and they're peacock and already Evan doesn't have
- 46:38Speaker 10: no series, but you know, without without Tatum, so they
- 46:42Speaker 10: think if they're here for a party, right, they're they're
- 46:44Speaker 10: here for Nixon five. And I just like want to
- 46:47Speaker 10: remind them, like you're the New York Knicks, like you
- 46:49Speaker 10: haven't won a championship in fifty years, Like I just
- 46:53Speaker 10: that was never my mindset, Like pre two thousand and
- 46:56Speaker 10: four Red Sox, like you didn't count your chickens before
- 47:00Speaker 10: they hatched, Like you made sure the Red Sox were
- 47:03Speaker 10: gonna win before you started celebrating, like you you know,
- 47:06Speaker 10: the choking, like you know how this goes, like I would.
- 47:09Speaker 4: Just you know, I agree. I think there's a there's
- 47:11Speaker 4: a chance. There's a chance I'm not saying a chance,
- 47:15Speaker 4: saying there's a chance.
- 47:18Speaker 2: Of course there's a chance.
- 47:19Speaker 10: Don't come to Boston and start, you know, going around
- 47:23Speaker 10: chanting Nixon five and things like that and expect not
- 47:27Speaker 10: to get any smoke. That's all I'm saying.
- 47:29Speaker 6: Okay, they piped down in the second half.
- 47:33Speaker 4: It was that.
- 47:34Speaker 10: I mean, it was all therapeutic based off of the
- 47:37Speaker 10: twenty four to forty eight hours all the Spanders have had.
- 47:40Speaker 2: I love the way they play. I think they you know,
- 47:43Speaker 2: they was gritty, they played really good defense at times. Uh,
- 47:48Speaker 2: there was blood everywhere. Well, it was good. It was good.
- 47:52Speaker 2: Where are you coming from?
- 47:54Speaker 10: Christian Barmore's press conference, the first time that we've spoken
- 47:57Speaker 10: to him since unfortunately since the reoccurring of the blood
- 48:02Speaker 10: clots last year, he'd you know, obviously had to get
- 48:05Speaker 10: pulled off the field again. So uh, he's uh, he
- 48:08Speaker 10: says he's a full go. He's a full go right now, really,
- 48:11Speaker 10: he says he's yeah, he said he's a full go
- 48:14Speaker 10: and no no restrictions, no limitations participating fully in the
- 48:19Speaker 10: off season program cleared for football activities. Expectation is that
- 48:23Speaker 10: he will be ready to go for training camp and
- 48:26Speaker 10: be playing his normal his normal self. He said, you know,
- 48:29Speaker 10: he's grown some it's more like a confidence thing that
- 48:32Speaker 10: he has to like, you know, build back up that
- 48:34Speaker 10: he's not gonna have any more setbacks or anything like that,
- 48:37Speaker 10: and say he's starting to feel a lot more like
- 48:39Speaker 10: himself and all optimistic, you know, all all positive things.
- 48:43Speaker 10: I think it's because at this point it was almost
- 48:45Speaker 10: like he wanted to stop talking about it, you know
- 48:47Speaker 10: what I mean, Like it's kind of like in his
- 48:50Speaker 10: past and he wants.
- 48:50Speaker 3: To move on.
- 48:51Speaker 9: Was he asked about going back on IR at all or.
- 48:55Speaker 10: Yeah, he was asked about, you know, just his emotions
- 48:58Speaker 10: and having to go back. Can you know what what happened?
- 49:03Speaker 10: That he didn't really want to get into the medical
- 49:05Speaker 10: stuff of like what really occurred, But yeah, I mean,
- 49:07Speaker 10: as you would expect you, he said, he was. It
- 49:10Speaker 10: was tough, like you know, he was angry, he was
- 49:13Speaker 10: upset because he put in a ton of work to
- 49:16Speaker 10: get back on the field at all and then to
- 49:18Speaker 10: have it, you know, pop back up. I think was
- 49:20Speaker 10: tough for him. But he said now that he doesn't
- 49:23Speaker 10: feel like he has any fear that it's gonna happen again.
- 49:26Speaker 2: Did he like get into like what was done or
- 49:30Speaker 2: what he's doing that gives him confidence that it won't reoccur.
- 49:35Speaker 10: He did say that, you know, there's some maybe some
- 49:38Speaker 10: tweaks you know, to diet and things like that, just
- 49:41Speaker 10: trying to really take care of himself. Not that he
- 49:44Speaker 10: wasn't before, but you know, just maybe even more so,
- 49:48Speaker 10: you know now that this has happened to him. But
- 49:52Speaker 10: he didn't really seem to think that it was you know,
- 49:55Speaker 10: anything that he did. It's kind of just like a
- 49:57Speaker 10: freak thing that happened to him. And like I said, yeah,
- 50:02Speaker 10: he's he's full go right now.
- 50:04Speaker 2: Yeah, in terms of well that's great new how much
- 50:06Speaker 2: the befolio go you could be in May right now?
- 50:09Speaker 2: How did he well, it's hard to know, but like
- 50:11Speaker 2: how did he look like, you know, hefty wise.
- 50:15Speaker 10: I thought he looked a little bit slimmer than the
- 50:17Speaker 10: last time we saw him. Okay, and that's not a
- 50:18Speaker 10: knock on him whatsoever. But when he had the blood clots,
- 50:22Speaker 10: you can't really work out, like it's not like you're
- 50:23Speaker 10: really doing much, you know, you have to really let
- 50:26Speaker 10: your body heel and I thought he looked a little
- 50:28Speaker 10: swelter than the last time that we saw him, because.
- 50:31Speaker 2: He's got time to put that back on.
- 50:33Speaker 10: Well, I think it's a good thing. Like I think
- 50:35Speaker 10: when we saw him last year, he was out of shape. Yeah,
- 50:39Speaker 10: I think he was a little bit heavier than what
- 50:40Speaker 10: he was playing at the year before when he had
- 50:43Speaker 10: the great season. So this looked more. He looked more
- 50:46Speaker 10: like you know, the twenty twenty three body type, and
- 50:50Speaker 10: you know, Christian bar more than he looked last year.
- 50:53Speaker 6: When I saw him yesterday at the community event, I
- 50:56Speaker 6: agree with you. I thought he looked a little slimmer
- 50:58Speaker 6: and then I mean grant he was running around with
- 51:01Speaker 6: eight year olds, but he was running around.
- 51:03Speaker 9: It was a nice warm day yesterday and he was moving.
- 51:06Speaker 3: Any questions have about how he feels like he'll fit
- 51:09Speaker 3: into this new scheme.
- 51:10Speaker 10: No, we didn't get too much into that. You know,
- 51:13Speaker 10: I was thinking of asking that, But you know, there's
- 51:15Speaker 10: a lot of questions about his road back and like
- 51:18Speaker 10: the medical stuff, and I don't think this was the time.
- 51:22Speaker 10: Maybe when we talked to him again in MIDI camp,
- 51:25Speaker 10: like that would.
- 51:25Speaker 2: Be about like lining up next to Bilton Williams.
- 51:28Speaker 10: He did talk about Milton Williams, but more from like
- 51:30Speaker 10: a work.
- 51:30Speaker 4: Ethics standpointtle thing.
- 51:33Speaker 10: Yeah, he's been really impressed what he said with with
- 51:35Speaker 10: Milton Williams his work ethic and they have a competition
- 51:38Speaker 10: of who gets here first at the beginning of the day,
- 51:41Speaker 10: you know, is uh speed, Maybe it's a sandwich.
- 51:45Speaker 4: Might be today, which is a rarity. Okay, usually I'm
- 51:48Speaker 4: first first.
- 51:52Speaker 3: Ride my bicycle.
- 51:53Speaker 4: Let me tell you it was a trek today, Yeah,
- 51:55Speaker 4: in the rain.
- 51:56Speaker 3: You think I could sell my wife on an electric
- 51:58Speaker 3: motorcycle at some point because I was like, I could
- 51:59Speaker 3: just drive to work on it.
- 52:01Speaker 2: Why would be Yeah, imagine little basket.
- 52:09Speaker 3: And I'm not going to tell the story now, but
- 52:10Speaker 3: I've I've driven a little embarrassing scooter like that before
- 52:13Speaker 3: and just was completely oblivious to how embarrassing it was. No, no, no, no, Well,
- 52:18Speaker 3: you can get your you can get your motorcycle permit
- 52:21Speaker 3: and when you're sixteen, and that means you can ride
- 52:23Speaker 3: a motorcycle by yourself. And so my dad had this
- 52:26Speaker 3: stupid as a Honda Helix. It was a red one.
- 52:29Speaker 3: So if you want to google it, you're watching it,
- 52:30Speaker 3: go look at it. It's pretty bad. And so I
- 52:33Speaker 3: just started riding it to school once I got my permit.
- 52:35Speaker 3: But it's like it's an a it's like you know, a
- 52:37Speaker 3: vespa basically, you know, you know, and people like nice bike.
- 52:41Speaker 3: I'm like, hey, I'm not taking the bus.
- 52:43Speaker 4: And he puts that little backpack that rides high on
- 52:45Speaker 4: his back. He puts that in the little basket in.
- 52:48Speaker 3: It didn't have a basketball. I didn't have anywhere to
- 52:50Speaker 3: put my helmet. I can't leave my helmet. Yeah. Sorry.
- 52:53Speaker 3: I had to go back to Barbo though real quick,
- 52:55Speaker 3: just to shift back to Patriots back football, but just
- 52:57Speaker 3: to say, like, I think he could really lossom in
- 53:00Speaker 3: this scheme. Like they're not going to ask him to
- 53:02Speaker 3: like our Christian two gap right, Like it's they're just
- 53:04Speaker 3: going to play to his strengths. Yeah, tell him to
- 53:06Speaker 3: go get the quarterback like him and mill Williams. That
- 53:08Speaker 3: should be an absolute nightmare if he's fully home, right.
- 53:10Speaker 10: Well that and that was what Millon Williams said when
- 53:13Speaker 10: he taught the other day, was it's the two of
- 53:16Speaker 10: them are kind of the ones that are they're trying
- 53:18Speaker 10: to lead the charge here together as a tandem. And
- 53:21Speaker 10: I wonder, you know, typically speaking, you don't play both
- 53:26Speaker 10: with three techniques out over the guards, so like who's
- 53:29Speaker 10: going to play over the nose, Like who's going to
- 53:31Speaker 10: be the guy on the inside, and how do they
- 53:33Speaker 10: You know, it's probably gonna be bar More. He's bigger.
- 53:35Speaker 10: You know, here's three twenty millon. Williams is two ninety five,
- 53:38Speaker 10: you know, so it's probably body type wise, it would
- 53:41Speaker 10: be him, So you know, he might see more double
- 53:44Speaker 10: teams in there, he might have more run responsibilities in there.
- 53:47Speaker 10: So you know, those are little things that I am
- 53:50Speaker 10: just looking for, is how do they put both those
- 53:53Speaker 10: guys together in spots and how do they how do
- 53:56Speaker 10: they cover up the middle of the field because both
- 53:59Speaker 10: those guys, to your point, dude, sort want to get
- 54:02Speaker 10: up the field and want to make plays on the
- 54:03Speaker 10: other side of the line of scrimmage and you know,
- 54:05Speaker 10: defeat blocks and things like that. But you can't have
- 54:08Speaker 10: both guys doing now, like someone's got a home in
- 54:11Speaker 10: the middle, right, So it'll be interesting to see how
- 54:14Speaker 10: they work.
- 54:16Speaker 2: What do you got, Wow, there's your little red thing.
- 54:20Speaker 3: Red thing that was that was? That was my bad motorcycle.
- 54:23Speaker 2: I don't know if the camera can exactly that's exactly
- 54:27Speaker 2: what I expected. It looks like one of those little vespas.
- 54:32Speaker 10: What's with the sound effect?
- 54:33Speaker 2: Sorry? All right, back to the phone.
- 54:36Speaker 4: Go to school like that.
- 54:37Speaker 2: Let's go to Dakota and.
- 54:39Speaker 4: High school kids aren't judgmental at all.
- 54:42Speaker 3: You get it, You get it.
- 54:43Speaker 2: What's up Dakota in Nebraska? Dakota.
- 54:49Speaker 4: No, it's it's actually Nebraska in Dakota.
- 54:52Speaker 2: Right, all right, he's not there. So everyone's favorite caller,
- 54:57Speaker 2: Christian in La. What's up Christian?
- 55:00Speaker 15: Hey you guys, good morning, good afternoon over there. Thank you,
- 55:03Speaker 15: guys are taking my call here to Stundy, LA with
- 55:05Speaker 15: its beautiful outside. So I know everyone's already talked about
- 55:10Speaker 15: the schedule being favorable and how that seems like it's
- 55:13Speaker 15: gonna obviously result and more wins for us. And I
- 55:16Speaker 15: took a look at the schedule, and I believe, like
- 55:19Speaker 15: Coach Brabile believed, that we're in a great position to
- 55:22Speaker 15: take advantage of bad football by other teams, which it
- 55:25Speaker 15: seems like based on the schedule and what the team
- 55:27Speaker 15: did last year, we're going to see a fair amount
- 55:30Speaker 15: up and it should get us at best close to
- 55:33Speaker 15: us into the playoffs. Right, So that's supposed to feel good,
- 55:36Speaker 15: But I'm thinking of the long term health of the team,
- 55:38Speaker 15: and this sounds like I'm poopoo in the potential playoff
- 55:42Speaker 15: run that we could be on. But it seems like
- 55:45Speaker 15: we had the potential to do what the Browns did
- 55:47Speaker 15: several years ago with Baker Mayfield, but they took advantage
- 55:49Speaker 15: of a seemingly soft schedule and it makes the team
- 55:53Speaker 15: look like they were better than they were, and as
- 55:55Speaker 15: a result, they wound up in the the bottom middle
- 55:59Speaker 15: of the draft the next three or four years and
- 56:01Speaker 15: really could not build a team more than they had
- 56:04Speaker 15: already gotten at that point. And I can kind of
- 56:06Speaker 15: see a little bit of that for us, Or do
- 56:08Speaker 15: you guys see that where let's do with eight and nine,
- 56:11Speaker 15: we'd be in a good position to pick up someone
- 56:13Speaker 15: next year to really continue to build the foundation of
- 56:16Speaker 15: the team for the long term. We go twelve and
- 56:18Speaker 15: five and it's two or three years before we can
- 56:20Speaker 15: get a decent position to draft get anybody to really
- 56:24Speaker 15: help conceive the build the teams for that.
- 56:25Speaker 2: Do you want them to get better or not that? Yeah, Like,
- 56:28Speaker 2: I'm not worried about the draft. I'm worried about winning football.
- 56:32Speaker 4: And if the option is want, if I have two
- 56:35Speaker 4: choices to go twelve and five or eight nine. I'll
- 56:37Speaker 4: take twelve and.
- 56:38Speaker 10: Five right, Well, twelve and five is pretty intact.
- 56:41Speaker 2: That's a good but that's a good football if you
- 56:43Speaker 2: would if you're twelve and five were bad.
- 56:45Speaker 4: My urgency to get another good player in the draft
- 56:47Speaker 4: is not that high. If I can go twelve and five,
- 56:49Speaker 4: the schedule is not that bad that you're just beating
- 56:51Speaker 4: twelve bad teams.
- 56:52Speaker 2: And by the way, if we end up eight and nine,
- 56:54Speaker 2: we're getting there.
- 56:55Speaker 10: So like I'll tank anybody in Washington right now saying
- 56:58Speaker 10: we had a top Oh.
- 56:59Speaker 4: My god, you know we just we cut the line.
- 57:02Speaker 4: We went to the NBERC Championship game before we got
- 57:04Speaker 4: another good draft pick.
- 57:06Speaker 15: Like, I know what you guys are saying, if I'm
- 57:08Speaker 15: with you, but what that resultant for the long term
- 57:11Speaker 15: health of the team. I don't want a two year
- 57:13Speaker 15: run when we win a couple of you know, he
- 57:15Speaker 15: won this year, Oh boy won this next year?
- 57:18Speaker 4: Five years?
- 57:18Speaker 1: The problem? Do you think the commander?
- 57:20Speaker 4: I just pushed back on the entire premise. Cleveland is
- 57:23Speaker 4: a is a pretty talented football team that had no quarterback.
- 57:27Speaker 4: Baker Mayfield crapped out if he continued to pay if
- 57:30Speaker 4: he didn't get hurt the next year, and he continued
- 57:32Speaker 4: to play the way he did the previous year, he'd
- 57:34Speaker 4: probably still be in Cleveland and that team wouldn't be
- 57:37Speaker 4: that bad. I mean, Miles Barrett's a pretty good player.
- 57:41Speaker 4: Nick Chubb was a pretty good player. They had talent
- 57:44Speaker 4: like that. They didn't like fall apart because they finished
- 57:48Speaker 4: too well the previous year and didn't get a high
- 57:50Speaker 4: enough draft pick. Baker Mayfield crapped out.
- 57:52Speaker 2: And the other thing. You know, if you're twelve and five,
- 57:56Speaker 2: you know you're going to attract better free agents, right,
- 57:59Speaker 2: I don't know. I guess the football game.
- 58:02Speaker 4: That's That's how I would look at it.
- 58:04Speaker 2: But Drake Mayce on our team. Hopefully the future is now.
- 58:08Speaker 4: And I would just correct. Mike Ramble said it as
- 58:10Speaker 4: introductory press conference that he hopes to be in a
- 58:13Speaker 4: position to take advantage of bad football. I don't think
- 58:15Speaker 4: he said, I'm confident we can take advantage of bad.
- 58:17Speaker 3: Foot, he said.
- 58:18Speaker 10: I think he's at the opposite Yeah.
- 58:20Speaker 4: I don't know, is what he said. If I recall,
- 58:23Speaker 4: I use that.
- 58:24Speaker 10: I'm not trying to rain on anybody's parade, but I
- 58:26Speaker 10: just did some of the predictions off the schedule that
- 58:30Speaker 10: they're going to win twelve thirteen games. I just like,
- 58:33Speaker 10: let's calm down a little bit, like, let's write, can
- 58:35Speaker 10: we at least see the team in training camp and
- 58:37Speaker 10: see what it looks like?
- 58:37Speaker 4: At the same time, can I at least see what
- 58:39Speaker 4: the other teams look like too?
- 58:41Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 58:41Speaker 4: It just like I have a lot of games in
- 58:44Speaker 4: my head that I think are very winnable. And if
- 58:46Speaker 4: Mike ends up being right and they're in a position
- 58:48Speaker 4: to take advantage of bad football, I'm expecting them to
- 58:50Speaker 4: beat the Carolinas, the New Orleans, the Tennessee's. That's not
- 58:55Speaker 4: taken into account whatsoever what those teams are going to be.
- 59:00Speaker 4: And I used it just the example. What if Tennessee
- 59:04Speaker 4: terrible team number one overall pick. What if cam Wood's
- 59:07Speaker 4: really good?
- 59:07Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 59:08Speaker 4: What if he's as as Fred said C J. Stroud
- 59:12Speaker 4: and as I mentioned Jayden Daniels. What if this is
- 59:14Speaker 4: the third year in a row that one of these
- 59:16Speaker 4: top pick quarterbacks really hits the ground running, Like you're
- 59:21Speaker 4: gonna look at that. What if Tennessee goes twelve and
- 59:23Speaker 4: five this year and then the Patriots lose to Tennessee,
- 59:27Speaker 4: You're gonna look at it as like a terrible loss.
- 59:30Speaker 10: I mean, I hope, No, I don't think that's going
- 59:32Speaker 10: to happen.
- 59:33Speaker 4: In full disclosure, I think Tennessee's a long way away.
- 59:35Speaker 10: But yeah, I mean, I hope they win as many games.
- 59:37Speaker 10: It's as optimistic as some people seem to be, but
- 59:40Speaker 10: I just I can't have to see it first, Like
- 59:42Speaker 10: it's been three years since they've won. I don't know
- 59:44Speaker 10: how you make that.
- 59:45Speaker 3: Mental leap where you're just like.
- 59:48Speaker 4: These five or six games that I think are very winnable,
- 59:50Speaker 4: and my feeling is you're generally going to go three
- 59:54Speaker 4: and three in those games. It's hard to win ten
- 59:56Speaker 4: games and not have win all those games against the Carolinas,
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: Tennessee's New Orleans.
- 1:00:02Speaker 10: I would just say that on the positive side, there
- 1:00:07Speaker 10: was always going to be an easy schedule on paper
- 1:00:09Speaker 10: because of the opponents.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: Like it you're a four one team, right, four is.
- 1:00:14Speaker 10: Going to be an easier schedule regardless of the order
- 1:00:16Speaker 10: of the games, but the base off the order of
- 1:00:19Speaker 10: the games, like they do have a nice September, Like
- 1:00:22Speaker 10: the September sets them up that they could get hot early,
- 1:00:26Speaker 10: like they could be a three and one team.
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: Right, Yeah, I mean I looked at it as maybe
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: they won't be one in three to start the year
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: the way they've been what four years in a row,
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: five years in a row, whatever it is, really.
- 1:00:39Speaker 10: And if you get off to a good start, then
- 1:00:41Speaker 10: then then you're rolling and you see what happens. But
- 1:00:44Speaker 10: I'm not ready to predict double digit wins. I mean
- 1:00:47Speaker 10: I can.
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: Predict double digit wins and not be disappointed by the season. Like,
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: how how is someone who's predicting twelve or thirteen wins
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: right now going to look at us when they're if
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: they're like middling team and they're about round five hundred,
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: and what's the explanation for you told us back? And
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: are you not disappointed? Like it's just it gets so
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: ahead of it that, like I want to see them
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: do it before I give them credit for doing it.
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: Like you can't just be like it's great, it's gonna
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: be awesome. It just takes away some of the joy
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: of the character Red Sox.
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: You know, Red Sox made a lot of good moves
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: in the offseason, and most of the moves they made
- 1:01:16Speaker 4: have worked. Bregman's been great, Crochet's been great, and yet
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: here we are you know, toward the end of May
- 1:01:22Speaker 4: and they're under five hundred yeah, right, all right, Now.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: I'm gonna take a break foods here, and when we
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: come back more calls and emails, we'll continue to talk
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: about the schedule that came out last night here on

- 1:03:19Speaker 1: What's up, everybody? Welcome to the PU Extras, where we
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: read your leftover emails. Guys. If they don't get read
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: on the show, send them the podcast at Patriots dot
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: com and we'll read them here. So, guys, what's up.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: Let's happy, dude, Let's get into it again. Sure, all right,
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: here we go. Good day, PU crew and last week's
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: PU Newsletter Alex Question. Alex's question of the week was
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: will Eric find love? Eric has already found love. He's
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: in love with himself. You might have also found love
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: in or with Africa, but we won't know for sure
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: until he writes his book. So I guess we'll never know.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: I seen Nick Casero getting some kudos for recent drafts
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: by the Houston Texans. Has his time with the Texans
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: made you reevaluate his time with the Patriots? Was Joe
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: Cardona cup more because of the performance concerns or more
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: out of desire by the new staff to clear the
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: decks of anything that might have the players looking back
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: to former glory years instead of focusing on the future.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: Cheers Dan in Virginia in Michigan. I think Va in Michigan, Alex.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: Let's get to the news.
- 1:04:13Speaker 19: I guess okay, yeah, the news. Other thing?
- 1:04:15Speaker 20: I wish I got to spend more time with Eric, truly, did.
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: You learn a lot of wild I love scal He
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: gives a bit of Brian Griffin sometimes from family guys. Yeah,
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: but he's the man. He's uh. I think he's traveling though.
- 1:04:30Speaker 19: Oh yeah, I good times.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: I'm pretty sertain. I always joke about this du duce.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: I don't think he's watched papers games since he left.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Did you overlap with him at all?
- 1:04:39Speaker 20: For like maybe a week and a half If that,
- 1:04:42Speaker 20: he was very nice met it was great, But like,
- 1:04:44Speaker 20: I don't blame him if he hasn't watched a game
- 1:04:46Speaker 20: like I've been.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: He's been doing it for I was doing it to
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: quit a job.
- 1:04:50Speaker 20: And never step foot in there again. For ye, Like
- 1:04:53Speaker 20: when I quit Marshalls, which was my first job, I
- 1:04:55Speaker 20: didn't shop again out of Marshall's TJ max until like
- 1:04:59Speaker 20: I was twenty to targeting TJ Max.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: That was it TJ al Right. So to Nick Cassario,
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: kudos for his recent drafts. Obviously he was here, but
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: he was working with Bill who I think Bill had
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: the override with a lot of stuff. But he made
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: that crazy trade for Will Anderson with CJ. Stroud, He's
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: done the big splash moves.
- 1:05:18Speaker 21: So yeah, I mean, I think Casario obviously being kind
- 1:05:22Speaker 21: of like the lead guy over there, helps him be
- 1:05:24Speaker 21: a little.
- 1:05:24Speaker 10: More loose with how we want to handle things.
- 1:05:26Speaker 21: And I think he's done a pretty good job over there.
- 1:05:28Speaker 10: The Texans.
- 1:05:28Speaker 21: I mean the Texans are going to be a really
- 1:05:29Speaker 21: good team the next few years.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: I'm just wondering about their O line though.
- 1:05:32Speaker 21: Yeah, they're definitely skeptical there. But I I five confidence
- 1:05:35Speaker 21: of CJ. Stroud to be able to be a gamer.
- 1:05:37Speaker 21: And I mean I don't put him in the same
- 1:05:40Speaker 21: field as Joe Burrow, but like Joe Burrow and his
- 1:05:42Speaker 21: own line hasn't been great for that long.
- 1:05:44Speaker 10: And I mean Joe Burrow can make things happen.
- 1:05:46Speaker 21: It's dangles can compete.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: It's interesting because as a GM, you really make waves
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: when you do the sexy trades, and that's what he's
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: been doing. So didn't do a lot of that here,
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: but he had some good, good years here.
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: Yeah, all right.
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: Third part is the question and Joe Cardona, I think
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: we've we've talked about this on PU before. I think
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: it's kind of let's let's move on to the future.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: Like it's a long.
- 1:06:08Speaker 19: Snapper, Like I agree with a little bit of both.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: Like he hit some some questionable snaps. Yeah, I'm surprised
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: it happened when it did. I thought he'd make it
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: to training camp.
- 1:06:17Speaker 20: Me too, And I just think he was kind of
- 1:06:20Speaker 20: It's not like he was like a huge male guy
- 1:06:22Speaker 20: or a huge Oh he was kind of a big
- 1:06:25Speaker 20: bill guy.
- 1:06:25Speaker 19: But I don't know.
- 1:06:27Speaker 20: I just I thought he was good for like the culture,
- 1:06:29Speaker 20: but I don't know.
- 1:06:30Speaker 22: But you're trying to establish It's like, once you kind
- 1:06:33Speaker 22: of make that change with da who's been like your
- 1:06:36Speaker 22: stage blue guy for years now, like once that switch happens,
- 1:06:41Speaker 22: Cardona justfently too.
- 1:06:43Speaker 21: But once Cardona kind of as just a long snapper,
- 1:06:46Speaker 21: it's hard to just like, you know, you could just
- 1:06:48Speaker 21: go a different direction at any point realistically with that position.
- 1:06:51Speaker 21: So I mean, I think it just kind of falls
- 1:06:54Speaker 21: to like, you know, new new time, a new day
- 1:06:56Speaker 21: in New England.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: So well, we'll see how Ashby does. Yeh Julian passing
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: the torch new Julian and Bosba Julian as all right.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: Email from Bobby and Squantum. Just want to give a
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: shout out to Paul for looking so slim these days.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: But somebody's got to give the guy a number for
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: a good tailor. I saw him wearing a suit on
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: All Access and he looked like David Byrne something.
- 1:07:16Speaker 19: Anymore. You lost too much.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: That's a good thing. That is a good thing. Yeah,
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: maybe a little, Alex, you should take the Pu crew shopping.
- 1:07:23Speaker 19: Okay, So you just took the words out of my mouse.
- 1:07:27Speaker 20: I have a very close family friend who for years
- 1:07:30Speaker 20: was like a really high profile tailor down in Palm
- 1:07:32Speaker 20: Beach on Worth Avenue. So those are of you who
- 1:07:35Speaker 20: are familiar with that. It's big money at a place
- 1:07:38Speaker 20: called Trillium. And I'm just like picturing Paul in a
- 1:07:41Speaker 20: place like that where everything is like custom made, imported
- 1:07:45Speaker 20: Kashmir from Europe. Like, can you imagine Paul going in
- 1:07:48Speaker 20: there to.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: Get a I should do it before next year's draft.
- 1:07:51Speaker 20: Also, send me to Palm Beach with Paul and we'll
- 1:07:55Speaker 20: play some golf.
- 1:07:56Speaker 19: We'll get him a new suit. I think it'd be great.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: Content had that place too. For Evan, we'll get a
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: custom cues.
- 1:08:02Speaker 21: It needs new cuss yea rot.
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: A little, just a little all right? Subject subject? Do
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: you read emails? That's what I'm doing right now, uh
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: from Matt and Devin UK. I love you guys, but
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: do you ever read emails from anyone other than the
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: same few people. I've emailed a lot and never get read.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: Here you go, Devin, anyway, I know there will be
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: some player comparisons going forward, such as Henderson and Luther Burden,
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: Williams and Jalen Nowell, et cetera. The one I'm more
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: fascinated by is us and the Bears over the next
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: few years. I love our free agency and draft, but
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: I also love what the Bears have done in free
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: agency and the draft. It'll be interesting to see how
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: both teams compare with the young quarterbacks that we could
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: have had, and that we could have had Ben Johnson
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: but chose. Brabelin said.
- 1:08:48Speaker 19: Comparison is the thief of joy.
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: Dyke was not Fred's back of the envelope guy, but mine.
- 1:08:53Speaker 23: It's not DK, all right, Jesus dKH Anyway, I emailed
- 1:09:00Speaker 23: it and them and haven't laughed at me and said
- 1:09:03Speaker 23: that DK may not even get drafted, haven't you?
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: And I will come back to the subject. Oh my god,
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: if you're right, I'll buy you lunch of them. Right,
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: I'll get a formal apology in a PU T shirt.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: So let's get to the T shirt that's coming now,
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: because I've been working on yes, tirelessly. It'll have to
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: it's the it'll be. It'll be there by twenty twenty six.
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: But the Bears and Patriots. Interesting because I.
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: Love that conversation.
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: Huh. I love that the Bears Patriots comparison time. Yeah yeah,
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: I mean Williams.
- 1:09:31Speaker 21: They've upgraded different or pretty much all the same positions,
- 1:09:34Speaker 21: just different guys. So it's like, honestly, just who's which
- 1:09:38Speaker 21: guys are going to be the ones they are going
- 1:09:40Speaker 21: to perform, you know, like they have they won with
- 1:09:43Speaker 21: the Dunes. They they have upgraded their whole line. They
- 1:09:45Speaker 21: believes their guards. Yes that's fair enough, they do have
- 1:09:49Speaker 21: the upside there, but you know, they have focused a
- 1:09:53Speaker 21: lot on their offensive side of the wall, and I
- 1:09:55Speaker 21: think the Pats uh a little bit more of the
- 1:09:57Speaker 21: defensive side, but have upgraded their off too.
- 1:10:00Speaker 10: So I mean, I'm excited to kind of see what happens.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: We'll see when they play again the two revamped teams.
- 1:10:06Speaker 20: There one thing real quick on just how to get
- 1:10:08Speaker 20: your emails read.
- 1:10:09Speaker 19: Fred has touched on this a little bit on the show.
- 1:10:11Speaker 20: But the subject of the email is important, but sometimes
- 1:10:14Speaker 20: people bait him with like a really creative or like
- 1:10:17Speaker 20: a clickbait headline. Right, So he said that the first
- 1:10:20Speaker 20: few lines of your email are really important because it
- 1:10:23Speaker 20: shows up in the preview so got creative.
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: There, there we go, all right. Kamel from Georgia one
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: talking about Adam Vinitary had me thinking, how do you
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: guys feel about Stephen Gostkowski. I mean it's a great kicker. Yeah,
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: all the time you go from military to gostkalk spoilt
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: And honestly, the only complaint I have was Gostkowski is
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: when they push the Pats back. He missed in the
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: AFC Championship against the Broncos. That I'd meant, think.
- 1:10:50Speaker 19: Of another negative memory.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's a good thing.
- 1:10:53Speaker 21: Yeah, you don't like betweenskouscheme kick Folk, Nick Folk.
- 1:10:59Speaker 4: Yeah that was a our trio.
- 1:11:01Speaker 20: Yeah, but I think Goskowski invent Terry were in a different.
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: Oh yeah, no, I'm not if you're talking transition, yeah,
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: for sure. Kickers here, yeah, talking consistency are good. But
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: now I'll see what Bory got is little.
- 1:11:16Speaker 19: I did my draft profile on him. Fired up?
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: Okay, all right for a kicker, fired up, feeling missed.
- 1:11:23Speaker 21: I think eight total kicksal case.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: A little game here, good afternoon. Knowing how much Paul
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: enjoys these games, don't worry, we enjoy them too, and
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: Fred despises them. And and emails in general. I've made
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: a way too early over undergame for the Patriots for
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: the upcoming season. All right, first one win, seven point
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: five over. I'm optimistically going over.
- 1:11:43Speaker 19: I'm going speaking into existence over.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, okay, May passing touchdowns thirty and a half,
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: thirty point five under. I'm going going under on that.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: Ma interceptions ten under.
- 1:11:58Speaker 10: He had eleven last year.
- 1:12:00Speaker 19: Under.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: It's gonna improve, I'll say under. Actually i'll say over,
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: but I think some will be like the booty one
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: in Arizona where I'm gonna slips off the hand. No,
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: I'm saying I'll say over, but like eleven, like not
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: by a lot so negative Digs receiving yards eight hundred
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: over over, yeah over. Patriots haven't had a thousand receiver
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: in a very long time. Yeah, all right, over, I
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: like that Williams receiving yards over four hundred.
- 1:12:31Speaker 17: Let it go.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna say I'll say over for that too. I
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: know I'll be optimistic and say I'm.
- 1:12:38Speaker 10: Gonna say over for that.
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: I don't think it's crazy market.
- 1:12:42Speaker 19: There's so much competition position.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: In Washington, all right. In college Gonzo interceptions three going over,
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna push over, give it to me, all right.
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: I'm gonna say he gets three white SAT five No,
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: no under under? Yeah under? All right, games scoring thirty
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: plus two and a half, I'm going over. I'm gonna
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: go under because we took the wins is over? Yeah,
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: all right, I'm go going I think all right, game
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: scoring lessons wins games, game scoring lessons twenty two under,
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: game game scoring less than twenty five ten.
- 1:13:29Speaker 21: Well, if I went under on the other one, I
- 1:13:31Speaker 21: feel like, yeah, going on there, I have to go under.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: Yet, Okay, you over?
- 1:13:36Speaker 19: Sorry, twenty seven points is such a sweet spot.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: Yeah, twenty five, I know, but that's always.
- 1:13:44Speaker 19: Under thirty. I'm gonna say over.
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: Okay, hope you enjoyed guys. Kyle from Pemberg.
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: I like that.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: I think Paul would have enjoyed it too. But you know,
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: we got to enjoy it, all right. Last one evan
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: Star Wars George Lucas added number added episode numbers of
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: the Star Wars film in nineteen eighty one. Or do
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: you when you realized he'd likely have the money to
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: make an entire story he envisioned. I could be wrong,
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: but I think that means the titles are older than Evan. Regardless,
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: Evans take about how some people say they're one, two
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: and three feels as hilarious as how he hates watermelon
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: because it's wet and can't stand Pam Beasley because she
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: wanted to paint Robin in Alaska.
- 1:14:19Speaker 10: I mean, I agree with the Pam take.
- 1:14:21Speaker 19: I don't know Canas from the Office too.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: I don't like the Office. You're a fake, it's overrated. Whatever, Okay,
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: I think that's you can take. I mean, yeah, Alex
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: star Wars, I.
- 1:14:35Speaker 19: Have nothing to say.
- 1:14:36Speaker 21: I'm gonna say I like Star Wars, but I the
- 1:14:39Speaker 21: people that say that. So he say, Evan says it's one,
- 1:14:42Speaker 21: two three, thanks, like the first three or the first three? Yeah,
- 1:14:45Speaker 21: I disagree with that because the order of operations doesn't
- 1:14:48Speaker 21: make sense.
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: No, Phantom Menace is the first one. Yeah, okay, okay,
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: all right, so we're all clear. Perfect Evan bad take.
- 1:14:53Speaker 19: Yes for planning that up for me.
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: All right, guys, thank you for listening to p U extras.
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: If your emails don't get read, Patriots from Filter to
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: send them here and we'll read them after.
- 1:15:05Speaker 4: And now great moments in.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: History, come on, I don't.
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: Felger still to this day.
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: Felger is not the end all be all of conversation.
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: There's other people saying.
- 1:15:20Speaker 4: Stuff and a lot of people. The only one guy
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: was all Brady. It's only when he said that while
- 1:15:23Speaker 4: Brady was here with Bill who said that.
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: Tons of people who on this show. I mean, do
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: I have to go back to the eat.
- 1:15:31Speaker 4: I've never said that, So you better not be insinuated.
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: You're talking about emailers, callers.
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: There's only one guy on whose voice matters in the town,
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: and it's Michael. I mean the guy. He's the only
- 1:15:42Speaker 4: guy even.
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: Moves to need.
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: Whip.
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: That's a lot of hero worship you think. I think
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: he's insane.
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: I didn't know you had such a love it.
- 1:15:51Speaker 24: I couldn't possibly disagree with him more. It's got nothing
- 1:15:54Speaker 24: to do with hero what he thinks. He thinks that
- 1:15:56Speaker 24: they could win the division with Brian Oyer. I couldn't
- 1:15:59Speaker 24: possibly disagree with There's nothing to do with hero worship.
- 1:16:02Speaker 24: But don't tell me that Glenn wood Way. He has
- 1:16:04Speaker 24: a pulse on anything that's going on. Yes, Bill, Yes, Bill,
- 1:16:07Speaker 24: don't see what Bill?
- 1:16:08Speaker 10: Oh?
- 1:16:08Speaker 4: Should wives get together? Are we going to do this
- 1:16:10Speaker 4: this weekend?
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: Oh?
- 1:16:11Speaker 4: Okay? Bill?
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: That's another great moment.
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: All right back here on Patriot's Unfiltered A five five
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: past five hundred is the Hotline podcast at Patriots dot
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: com as the email address. We had Jack Gibbons earlier.
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: Like I said, every team should have a linebacker named Jack.
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: Now we do. So that's good. Check that box. Do
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: you like that?
- 1:16:34Speaker 10: Evan?
- 1:16:34Speaker 4: See they're not reruns if you've never heard them, But
- 1:16:37Speaker 4: that's right. That forever and then gave me the pop
- 1:16:39Speaker 4: that you wanted.
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: I did that forever. All right, let's get to some
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: of these emails. Jake in Melbourne, uh says, maybe it's
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: just different expectations or maybe not getting caught up in
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: the current state of mind of some fans, where teams
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: with similar records as the Patriots last year are suddenly
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: bookmarked as wins for this year. I feel like this
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: year will or should be a year of exploration. I'm
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: not sure about everyone else, but I have the vast
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: majority of the roster where I don't know what they'll produce,
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: good or bad. While excited and optimistic about the new regime,
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: I feel like a lot of fans are seeing this
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: upcoming season as a guaranteed major improvement on the last
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: few seasons record wise, But I think expectations should be tempered.
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: I agree with that email very much.
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: But is there a difference between expectations being tempered and
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: enthusiasm shouldn't be in.
- 1:17:29Speaker 4: A good Yeah, And I would also say not to
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: bog it into semantics like I often do. Is you
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: know what would you consider great improvement? Because I am
- 1:17:40Speaker 4: very confident that this team is going to be improved. Yeah,
- 1:17:42Speaker 4: me too, I'm extremely confident of that. I don't know
- 1:17:45Speaker 4: what that translates to number of wins. Evan and I
- 1:17:47Speaker 4: were talking off air a little bit. You know, if
- 1:17:49Speaker 4: they were to win, say eight games, I think based
- 1:17:53Speaker 4: on the tenor of some fans, I think there'd be
- 1:17:54Speaker 4: some disappointment. I'd be out of my mind excited, Like
- 1:17:57Speaker 4: you doubled your win total in year one. I think
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: that would be cause for a lot of celebration.
- 1:18:03Speaker 10: They're gonna win more than four games, yes, but that's
- 1:18:05Speaker 10: how I feel. How many you know, we'll see, but
- 1:18:08Speaker 10: they're gonna win more than four games, and I think
- 1:18:10Speaker 10: eight and nine. Like, you just want it to be
- 1:18:12Speaker 10: headed in the right direction, you know, you want to
- 1:18:14Speaker 10: see that arrow pointed upward and win some games that
- 1:18:17Speaker 10: you wouldn't have won the last couple of years, maybe
- 1:18:20Speaker 10: in styles that you wouldn't have won them in. Like
- 1:18:22Speaker 10: can you score into the thirties and win a game?
- 1:18:25Speaker 4: That's a good point too. How the wins come about,
- 1:18:27Speaker 4: that's a good.
- 1:18:27Speaker 10: Point, Like you know, going back to you know, obviously
- 1:18:31Speaker 10: twenty one, twenty two, the twenty two season, Really they
- 1:18:35Speaker 10: were eight and nine, weren't they? And but that team
- 1:18:38Speaker 10: wasn't good, Like you could tell that that team couldn't score.
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: I mean, they only had one way to win, right, But.
- 1:18:44Speaker 10: Is can this team win thirty five thirty one against Miami?
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: Like?
- 1:18:48Speaker 4: Can they or come from behind?
- 1:18:50Speaker 10: Right? Can they come from behind? Can Drake may orchestrate
- 1:18:53Speaker 10: a fourth quarter comeback or a game winning driver or two?
- 1:18:56Speaker 10: Like if they start doing those types of things, even
- 1:18:59Speaker 10: if the win total isn't crazy, like that's what you want,
- 1:19:01Speaker 10: it's start to see.
- 1:19:03Speaker 3: I feel a little bit broken by the last couple
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: of years and just not trusting myself. I've seen some
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: stuff the.
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: Shelter when he kept getting because I felt.
- 1:19:15Speaker 3: Enthus I'm an enthusiastic guy. Anyway, It's not a high
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: bar like and I think all NFL fans at this
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: time year should have some enthusiasm for their for their team.
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: But you know, was I too enthusiastic about terrible teams
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: a couple of the last couple of years?
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: You know?
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: Am I am? I walking myself into the same kind
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: of false belief. I really, really, really, truly in my
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: heart believe that this team is going to be better,
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: that they will be a solid football team. I don't
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: know exactly what it'll mean, but I'm still questioning myself
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: based on the last couple of years.
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: And listen, even even if I didn't see them, I
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: have to admit that last year the signs were there
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: of maybe they're.
- 1:19:50Speaker 9: Not brought back same team.
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: Maybe maybe I was, you know, refusing to see them.
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: And it's stupid always coming through of like Paul mentioned this,
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: damn man, it's been right way too much since I
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: started working here.
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: So someone who you know, maybe did see some signs
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: last year. Fishers in the damn or whatever you want
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: to call them, What do you think this year? Do
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: you think? Do you know?
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: Well, I'm not talking about abstract things that I don't know,
- 1:20:19Speaker 4: Like last year when everyone told me the offensive line
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: coach was going to be great because he had a
- 1:20:23Speaker 4: different system. I don't know any of that, right, I
- 1:20:25Speaker 4: can't control. I don't see just in terms of like
- 1:20:27Speaker 4: I'm just talking about the players. Do I think it's
- 1:20:30Speaker 4: better this year than last year? Yes, because I think
- 1:20:33Speaker 4: they went out, as Alex just said, and replaced guys
- 1:20:36Speaker 4: on the roster with players that I think at least
- 1:20:39Speaker 4: are better. And this is why I never got on
- 1:20:41Speaker 4: board with the over the top enthusiasm last year. At
- 1:20:44Speaker 4: this time, you ran it back. You brought in a
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: rookie quarterback and otherwise ran it back. And I was
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: excited about the rookie quarterback, but I didn't think it
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: was going to translate to a lot of success because
- 1:20:55Speaker 4: generally it doesn't work like Jayden Daniels and c J. Stroud.
- 1:21:00Speaker 4: Generally it works like Drake May last year. You have
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: struggles even when the guy exhibits a level a level
- 1:21:06Speaker 4: of competence. And I would say that's what Drake May
- 1:21:08Speaker 4: did last year. He looks like he knows what he's doing.
- 1:21:11Speaker 4: But generally that doesn't translate to a dramatic spike in victory.
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:21:14Speaker 10: I mean, I was probably more optimistic about bringing some
- 1:21:17Speaker 10: of the guys they brought back. But as soon as
- 1:21:19Speaker 10: we got into training camp, I mean, they couldn't block anybody.
- 1:21:23Speaker 10: So the practices were pretty obvious right away that that
- 1:21:26Speaker 10: Eagles practice.
- 1:21:28Speaker 4: The Eagles practice was ground zero for that. That was
- 1:21:30Speaker 4: it for me, right. I knew I was right when
- 1:21:32Speaker 4: I saw that practice and they can't block.
- 1:21:35Speaker 10: And he also just put it on top, you know,
- 1:21:37Speaker 10: some of the coaching stuff that was going on too,
- 1:21:39Speaker 10: and it just it didn't look right.
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:21:42Speaker 4: So I can sit there and I can convince myself
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: that all of these coaches that are coming in are
- 1:21:47Speaker 4: better than that. But I might go out of training
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: camp and watch them have a joint practice against either
- 1:21:52Speaker 4: Washington or Minnesota, you know, those are the first two
- 1:21:54Speaker 4: preseason games, and say, you know what, this coaching staff
- 1:21:58Speaker 4: looks a lot like last year's coach staff.
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: I think it's better. I think Doug Moron and Josh
- 1:22:04Speaker 4: McDaniels will make the offense better, but you don't know
- 1:22:07Speaker 4: until you see it.
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: Kyle and Pembroke. I have three hot takes and predictions
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: in response to the schedule release that I want you
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: guys to react to. I know it's too early for
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: any of these, but why not One the Patriots will
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: be four to zero in prime time games this year.
- 1:22:21Speaker 10: They only have three, right, so that's false.
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: Two Week eighteen versus Miami will be a win and
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: get a get in game for both teams. In regards
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: to the wild card making it a prime time game. Oh,
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: he says a win and get in It won't be
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: a win. It'll be a win and get in game.
- 1:22:40Speaker 4: That's going to be flexed into and that's where he's
- 1:22:42Speaker 4: getting the fourth prime time got Okay, Okay, I see
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: it's not not far fetched, not far fetching that could happen.
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: Okay, Three, This easy schedule and he has easy in quotes,
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: just so you know, will be harder than people think.
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: The Panthers, Titans, and Giants all have the potential of
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: being better this year and could be more difficult than expected.
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: What do you think I agree with that?
- 1:23:05Speaker 10: Sure, I would not pick those teams, but I think
- 1:23:08Speaker 10: there's always a chance that teams are better.
- 1:23:11Speaker 4: Than what you team that people just think is a
- 1:23:14Speaker 4: layup in. I think if Kenny Pickett, as an example,
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: just was what do you what do you? And Alex
- 1:23:20Speaker 4: call it net neutral? If Kenny Pickett was just net neutral.
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: I think that team could be decent, like a seven
- 1:23:27Speaker 4: to eight nine win team as opposed to a three
- 1:23:29Speaker 4: or four win team, and that could be a tougher
- 1:23:32Speaker 4: game than you think. I'm kind of with Evan on
- 1:23:34Speaker 4: the others. I don't really see it. With Carolina or
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: Tennis New Orleans I think is dreadfully bad.
- 1:23:40Speaker 10: Zero. The league thinks they're dreadfully YEA.
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: Kamel from Georgia writes in one what are your thoughts
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: about people wanting an NFL draft.
- 1:23:48Speaker 4: Lottery seeing that a lot lately that's a thing.
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: Well, my thing is other than the first round. You
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: keep it the same, but the first round is a
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: complete lottery, all teams involved, thirty two teams.
- 1:24:01Speaker 4: Let's let's Christmas Fret's theory of how the Patriots could
- 1:24:04Speaker 4: get the first overall pick after winning.
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: And then and then the rest of the rounds go
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: back to record.
- 1:24:09Speaker 10: So the reason why people are pushing for this is
- 1:24:14Speaker 10: because of the of the television stuff like it's a
- 1:24:17Speaker 10: The NBA draft lottery does decent numbers, so an NFL
- 1:24:20Speaker 10: draft lottery will do.
- 1:24:21Speaker 4: The NHL lottery got a little tracksh not like the
- 1:24:24Speaker 4: na will do huge numbers.
- 1:24:25Speaker 10: So like people like Adam Scheff are going on ESPN
- 1:24:28Speaker 10: and vouching for an NFL draft lottery. He's looking at
- 1:24:32Speaker 10: his his wallet and saying, this would be a great
- 1:24:34Speaker 10: television event for us to do this. The NFL doesn't
- 1:24:37Speaker 10: need a lottery, Like the NFL doesn't have a tanking issue.
- 1:24:40Speaker 10: There's just teams that aren't very good. That doesn't mean
- 1:24:43Speaker 10: they're tanking. Like the Patriots last year had all the
- 1:24:45Speaker 10: reason in the world to tank. In the last week
- 1:24:47Speaker 10: of the season, they won the damn game. So like,
- 1:24:50Speaker 10: how is that that's not tanking?
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: They don't play enough games to really tank, right.
- 1:24:54Speaker 10: Like the NBA has a tanking problem. They have teams
- 1:24:57Speaker 10: like Utah who have for three years now, I've purposely
- 1:25:00Speaker 10: tried to lose games like that.
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: That's but what about the purgatory issue, Like if you
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: are a middling team year after year, it's easy to
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: stay middling because you never really get a shot at
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: that that great player.
- 1:25:14Speaker 9: I don't think it's happened this year.
- 1:25:16Speaker 6: I mean, Dallas is gonna get Cooper Flag after trading Luka,
- 1:25:22Speaker 6: but you know, and.
- 1:25:22Speaker 10: They had a one eleventh best chance to get it.
- 1:25:26Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think purgatory is a problem in the NFL.
- 1:25:29Speaker 4: It can be a problem in the winter leagues. Yes,
- 1:25:33Speaker 4: I think taking it.
- 1:25:34Speaker 10: As a problem in the NBA, which is what the
- 1:25:36Speaker 10: lottery is for. But like the thing with the tanking
- 1:25:39Speaker 10: is is like, if you're Utah, how else are you
- 1:25:42Speaker 10: going to get better? Besides getting a top draft pick.
- 1:25:45Speaker 10: You're not drawing any free agents, You're not pulling off
- 1:25:48Speaker 10: any trades. Like, so the only way that a team
- 1:25:50Speaker 10: like Utah gets better is by getting Cooper Flag, Like
- 1:25:53Speaker 10: that's the only way they can do it. That's not
- 1:25:55Speaker 10: the case in the NFL. At the end of you
- 1:25:57Speaker 10: can build a roster in different ways in the n
- 1:26:00Speaker 10: the field than you can in the NBA. And I
- 1:26:02Speaker 10: just I don't think it's a big issue.
- 1:26:04Speaker 4: I agree, I don't think. I think there's a lot
- 1:26:07Speaker 4: of middling teams that have plenty of ways to get talent,
- 1:26:12Speaker 4: like you, I mean, everybody can get free agents, and
- 1:26:15Speaker 4: everybody can draft good players. In the first round. In
- 1:26:17Speaker 4: the NBA, there's like three good players, so the idea
- 1:26:20Speaker 4: is drafted.
- 1:26:21Speaker 6: And aside from the quarterback and position in football like
- 1:26:25Speaker 6: basketball is so different, where one player really can the
- 1:26:29Speaker 6: entire dynamic of a team football.
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: There's just so many quarters.
- 1:26:33Speaker 9: That's why, that's why I preface it.
- 1:26:35Speaker 3: I like it, Fred I, I'm maybe on the opposite side.
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: I'm with you, I don't. I mean, I agree with
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: everything Evan saying. I just think it takes that whole
- 1:26:42Speaker 3: element out of it. And how many teams are always
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: picking in the top ten, like they're always up there.
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: And I'm sick of the team in the top ten
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: and then they don't get better, but.
- 1:26:50Speaker 10: They're only going to be They're not going to do
- 1:26:52Speaker 10: a thirty two teams.
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: No, just because no one does. It doesn't NBA does
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: top ten.
- 1:27:03Speaker 4: Teams that don't make the NHL. I believe it's not
- 1:27:07Speaker 4: everybody that doesn't.
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: Make the PA.
- 1:27:08Speaker 3: I'd be on board with that. I don't know if
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: I could get on board with the I don't hate.
- 1:27:11Speaker 4: The idea of a lottery. I wouldn't say no, But
- 1:27:14Speaker 4: I agree with Evan if that if they do it,
- 1:27:16Speaker 4: it's only because of it's not it's not to solve
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: a problem because they want more money problem, and that's
- 1:27:22Speaker 4: what And I would argue that it hasn't really worked,
- 1:27:25Speaker 4: to be honest, But I do agree with you. It
- 1:27:27Speaker 4: was all about I think there was a year that Houston.
- 1:27:31Speaker 4: I think there was like a tanking to miss the playoffs.
- 1:27:36Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean teams really bad like Dallas, like probably
- 1:27:40Speaker 10: could have pushed at the end of the season to
- 1:27:42Speaker 10: be in the play in and they purposely didn't.
- 1:27:45Speaker 4: They weren't in the plan.
- 1:27:46Speaker 10: No, I mean no, I don't think so well they
- 1:27:49Speaker 10: they might have been, but they they got into this
- 1:27:52Speaker 10: position on purpose, like they obviously they trade Luca, but
- 1:27:56Speaker 10: like they got.
- 1:27:56Speaker 4: Into the position after that trade too, and.
- 1:28:00Speaker 10: They they pulled the plug on the season to get
- 1:28:02Speaker 10: into the lottery, and they got lucky. They the ping
- 1:28:04Speaker 10: pong balls fell their way.
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: Ultimately lucky too. Does Cam Williams going to the Broncos
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: mean anything for the Patriots?
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: They're gonna have to hire a new guy, But I
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: think that's a loss.
- 1:28:14Speaker 4: I think that he's a guy that was uh well
- 1:28:17Speaker 4: thought of, and I think he did a good job.
- 1:28:19Speaker 4: I think people considered him very competent at his job,
- 1:28:22Speaker 4: got a promotion. Now, we liked him obviously because we
- 1:28:25Speaker 4: had him on the you know, like the draft shows.
- 1:28:26Speaker 4: We had some good interaction with him. But I think
- 1:28:28Speaker 4: he's well and I think I.
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: Think, you know, everybody's looking like where am I going
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: to be in two three years? And I think here,
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: you know now that with Rabel in, but Elliott's not
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: going anywhere. He brought rabel brought with him, you know.
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: So plus it's a promotion for him, like yeah, so
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: he he wants to go to rise up there.
- 1:28:50Speaker 4: They had two guys just leave higher ups under is
- 1:28:54Speaker 4: it Patent or Peyton? How do you pronounce Patton? George Patten?
- 1:28:58Speaker 10: Yeah, but they I mean, no disrespect to camp Williams,
- 1:29:02Speaker 10: so I liked and got to know a little bit
- 1:29:04Speaker 10: is a great guy. I mean he was not making
- 1:29:08Speaker 10: any real decisions here.
- 1:29:10Speaker 4: No, right, you know that wasn't That's what I'm saying.
- 1:29:12Speaker 4: It's a promotion, Yeah, because he's going to be in
- 1:29:14Speaker 4: a decision. Well he's going to have input more I
- 1:29:16Speaker 4: think with Denver than he did. Yeah.
- 1:29:18Speaker 10: Yeah, I just remember talking to you know, Elliott at
- 1:29:20Speaker 10: the combine and like when they had like a will
- 1:29:24Speaker 10: Campbell Travis Hunter level prospect that Macro was the one
- 1:29:27Speaker 10: that was actually writing the scouting reports for those players
- 1:29:30Speaker 10: for the Patriots, not not cam So like they like
- 1:29:33Speaker 10: that those types of high level decisions were were out
- 1:29:36Speaker 10: of his hands.
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: And finally, with the schedule coming out, what games times
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: do you like more? The one four, twenty five or
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: prime time one o'clock.
- 1:29:45Speaker 4: We're all, yeah, that's my favorite part of the schedule.
- 1:29:51Speaker 4: It was all these one o'clock games.
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: Yeah, Sam and Saint Catharine's am I crazy for thinking
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: that we could upset the Ravens. Maybe I'm re I'm
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: ring things incorrectly, but I believe Rabels Titans were a
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: constant pain in the behind for the Ravens. And no
- 1:30:06Speaker 2: one knows Derek Henry's strengths and weakness is better than him.
- 1:30:09Speaker 2: I'm sure we'll have some surprises losses too, and ultimately
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: I think will be somewhere in the hunt, whether that's
- 1:30:15Speaker 2: wild Carter just missing the cut.
- 1:30:17Speaker 4: So they beat them in the playoffs right when they
- 1:30:19Speaker 4: went to the AFC Championship game. Lamar's rookie year, right,
- 1:30:22Speaker 4: not his rookie year, but that first year that he
- 1:30:24Speaker 4: was an MVP, his first MVP BEF the Titans.
- 1:30:28Speaker 10: I thought it was that rookie season, but maybe that
- 1:30:30Speaker 10: was the Chargers that beat him.
- 1:30:31Speaker 4: Yeah, the Chargers beat him in the playoffs. Yeah, but again,
- 1:30:36Speaker 4: an AFC Championship caliber roster gave Lamar Jackson trouble not
- 1:30:42Speaker 4: a four and thirteen team. But yeah, I mean again,
- 1:30:48Speaker 4: I don't tell you that upsets don't happen. Last year,
- 1:30:51Speaker 4: I believe that the Ravens lost like four or five games.
- 1:30:53Speaker 4: They lost to the Raiders, they lost to someone else
- 1:30:57Speaker 4: that was really bad and I can't remember now remember,
- 1:31:01Speaker 4: but good teams lose to bad teams. Cincinnati lost to
- 1:31:04Speaker 4: the Patriots last year ultimately knocked them out of the playoffs.
- 1:31:09Speaker 4: They would have been in the playoffs with ten wins
- 1:31:11Speaker 4: they had they won that opening game. So upsets happened.
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I five Pats five hundred is the hotline. Let's
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: go to Randy in Providence. What's up, Randy?
- 1:31:23Speaker 25: Hey, guys, how's it growing at a good So I'm
- 1:31:27Speaker 25: one of the more optimistic guys I guess about the
- 1:31:30Speaker 25: Patriots there. I think eight to ten wins is perfectly
- 1:31:33Speaker 25: reasonable to built for anyway.
- 1:31:36Speaker 11: It may do not expect, but I do.
- 1:31:39Speaker 26: Think like two of the big takeaways that I had
- 1:31:42Speaker 26: from the schedule coming out.
- 1:31:43Speaker 25: Last night is that Game one is the Raiders, right,
- 1:31:46Speaker 25: They're coming here.
- 1:31:48Speaker 26: And we expect that offense to kind of be built.
- 1:31:51Speaker 25: Around the Rush a lot, and particularly around a rookie
- 1:31:54Speaker 25: running back who I looked up in his game log.
- 1:31:58Speaker 25: He's only played once in the Eastern time. That was
- 1:32:01Speaker 25: last year with a four PM.
- 1:32:04Speaker 4: Can we please retire that?
- 1:32:06Speaker 10: No, No, it's a thing, not a thing. Ten a
- 1:32:13Speaker 10: m body clock.
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: The whole West coast coming east is not a thing anymore.
- 1:32:16Speaker 4: It's a thing like Seattle last last year and week.
- 1:32:19Speaker 10: You stick to your take.
- 1:32:20Speaker 4: Oh, I've heard this this take about twelve times today.
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: I'm done with.
- 1:32:26Speaker 25: But I think a rookie running back making his first
- 1:32:28Speaker 25: trip to the East coast.
- 1:32:30Speaker 4: For early year not going to Mars.
- 1:32:32Speaker 25: Be a little grown up.
- 1:32:35Speaker 26: But then the second game that I took a look
- 1:32:37Speaker 26: at and I liked was that Cincinnati Bengals game. I
- 1:32:40Speaker 26: think that's a game that they could potentially see. And
- 1:32:44Speaker 26: I think that's because you're coming off ten days Rush.
- 1:32:48Speaker 4: I think I heard that guy this morning.
- 1:32:50Speaker 25: Fingers crossed a Jets home win. But the Bengals have
- 1:32:56Speaker 25: is why was before us and the Ravens four days
- 1:33:00Speaker 25: after us? And I think they could be looking through us.
- 1:33:05Speaker 4: Okay, could could be so if all the other teams
- 1:33:09Speaker 4: stink and roll over. The Patriots will have a great
- 1:33:11Speaker 4: year print out on a slogan.
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: Randy, I like it. I'm with you. Eight to ten
- 1:33:16Speaker 2: is completely rare.
- 1:33:17Speaker 4: I don't know if you know, but Ashton genty will
- 1:33:19Speaker 4: not know how to run in the Eastern time zone.
- 1:33:23Speaker 4: It's a ten a m.
- 1:33:23Speaker 10: Bodyclock game, Paul.
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: Correct, He's never been in the East coast, so he's
- 1:33:28Speaker 4: gonna be like, that's not what I'm saying. It's not
- 1:33:31Speaker 4: like the turf, and I hope the blue. I hope
- 1:33:34Speaker 4: that just a green turf.
- 1:33:36Speaker 10: And then I hope that they pulled the fire alarm
- 1:33:37Speaker 10: at the hotel at like three o'clock in the morning.
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: It's gonna happen.
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: We're gonna win.
- 1:33:43Speaker 10: No, you take out all the things you need and
- 1:33:46Speaker 10: they pull that fire alarm.
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: If you were playing at Mars, Paul, you would want
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: Askton gent.
- 1:33:50Speaker 4: Cleveland's Baltimore also lost in Cleveland last.
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: Year, loss to the Patriots.
- 1:33:56Speaker 10: That's a division game.
- 1:33:57Speaker 4: They're gonna lose again this year because they're going to
- 1:33:59Speaker 4: be looking ahead to the next game.
- 1:34:01Speaker 2: That's right, right.
- 1:34:02Speaker 4: I got a question.
- 1:34:03Speaker 3: Is there a difference between like an upset and a
- 1:34:06Speaker 3: game that and a win that actually means something like
- 1:34:08Speaker 3: sometimes you're like, you catch a team at the right time. No,
- 1:34:11Speaker 3: it doesn't prove an you think that.
- 1:34:12Speaker 4: Can be the same thing last year the low But
- 1:34:15Speaker 4: that's not really and that was situational, right, Like, but Cincinnati,
- 1:34:19Speaker 4: they upset Cincinnati, Why didn't that mean anything?
- 1:34:21Speaker 3: Because well, for them, ultimately, they weren't a team that
- 1:34:25Speaker 3: could be They weren't a team on that level of Cincinnati.
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: They were a tier and it turns out wasn't that great.
- 1:34:31Speaker 4: But an upset, that's true. But an upset is an upset.
- 1:34:34Speaker 4: But that means the better team talent wise lost to
- 1:34:37Speaker 4: the inferior team. Whether that means that the inferior team
- 1:34:40Speaker 4: is better than we thought, it's still meant something. They
- 1:34:43Speaker 4: still beat a team that was better than them.
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, all right, but fair enough.
- 1:34:46Speaker 2: No, but I hear what you're saying to Mike, Like,
- 1:34:49Speaker 2: in hindsight, you look back and go, you know, at
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: the time, we thought it was a big upset, but
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: it really wasn't.
- 1:34:55Speaker 4: Wasn't that good or you were a lot better?
- 1:34:57Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:34:57Speaker 10: Yeah, it was marketably better than the Patriots.
- 1:35:01Speaker 4: Of course, that was as big en upset as you
- 1:35:04Speaker 4: can get.
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, but That's why when like people took it
- 1:35:06Speaker 3: looking like Baltimore and like we could upset them. Well, yeah,
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: like you're saying that maybe Lamar has a terrible game
- 1:35:12Speaker 3: and it's in the wind, or you know, there's a monsoon,
- 1:35:14Speaker 3: or the Patriots are just a better football team than
- 1:35:17Speaker 3: the Ravens. Like there's a big difference between that at No.
- 1:35:19Speaker 4: I got your question.
- 1:35:21Speaker 3: A lot of times when people call in and say it,
- 1:35:23Speaker 3: they're saying more like they're gonna be the better team
- 1:35:25Speaker 3: than the Ravens that night, rather than I think everything's
- 1:35:28Speaker 3: gonna line up for them in week seventeen and they're
- 1:35:30Speaker 3: gonna be able to be the race.
- 1:35:32Speaker 4: So when the pink upsets happened, I think sometimes the
- 1:35:35Speaker 4: better team doesn't win the game. Now, does it always
- 1:35:38Speaker 4: mean something in the long term, nor, to answer your question,
- 1:35:43Speaker 4: sometimes it does. But like Fred said, what if the
- 1:35:46Speaker 4: Patriots are like ten and four going into that game,
- 1:35:49Speaker 4: I still would think Baltimore is better than them and
- 1:35:52Speaker 4: they could upset them, and it would mean plenty. It
- 1:35:55Speaker 4: would mean that you're really good too.
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: And no.
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: One when the Patriots were fourteen point underdogs to the Rams,
- 1:36:00Speaker 2: huge upset, but in hindsight, were the Patriots that were
- 1:36:04Speaker 2: they underrated?
- 1:36:07Speaker 3: I think maybe a little day we knew it was real.
- 1:36:11Speaker 2: You know, were they better than we? You know, people
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: were giving them credit for it. Should it have been fourteen?
- 1:36:16Speaker 2: Should have been more like six?
- 1:36:18Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:36:18Speaker 3: I mean maybe this is a bibie question, but like
- 1:36:20Speaker 3: to have the Patriots had a meaningful win over the
- 1:36:22Speaker 3: last two years, like legitimately.
- 1:36:25Speaker 10: I think the game that they beat Buffalo here in
- 1:36:27Speaker 10: twenty I don't know, I know, I know, I.
- 1:36:29Speaker 2: Know, I think I think there can't be any meaningful
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: wins unless you end up in the playoffs.
- 1:36:33Speaker 10: Right at the time, that game, I think felt like
- 1:36:37Speaker 10: a meaningful game. They hadn't beaten Josh Allen and really
- 1:36:40Speaker 10: solved that problem. Beat it beat a good team. It
- 1:36:42Speaker 10: was a come from behind, like fourth quarter.
- 1:36:44Speaker 4: It wasn't because you couldn't throw the ball because of
- 1:36:46Speaker 4: the weather.
- 1:36:49Speaker 10: Now granted it was like one screen that he took
- 1:36:52Speaker 10: like forty yards to drive.
- 1:36:54Speaker 2: But I mean, if you say it a game, what meaning.
- 1:37:03Speaker 10: I mean like just throwing that out.
- 1:37:04Speaker 2: But if you say game has a meaning, it was
- 1:37:07Speaker 2: a meaningful win.
- 1:37:08Speaker 4: Pop, what is the meaning? What was what?
- 1:37:10Speaker 10: It turned out not to be anything?
- 1:37:12Speaker 2: But in the moment, it wasn't meaningful.
- 1:37:14Speaker 4: Well, in hindsight it.
- 1:37:15Speaker 10: Was, but in the moment, it felt like that was
- 1:37:17Speaker 10: the one thing they had.
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: Everyone is great in the moment, but like, no, this
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: you had to take the question in the spirit.
- 1:37:25Speaker 10: That it was me that that the game last year
- 1:37:28Speaker 10: in Cincinnati was not great in the moment. Even Gerard
- 1:37:30Speaker 10: knew that it.
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: Wasn't great in the moment.
- 1:37:33Speaker 10: Are you kidding, room, Yeah, it felt like they won
- 1:37:38Speaker 10: the Super Bowl one game.
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: It was great in the moments.
- 1:37:42Speaker 4: Okay, but even the coach that the way they played
- 1:37:45Speaker 4: was so obviously but no, but it was the way
- 1:37:48Speaker 4: they had to play to win, and they did it.
- 1:37:51Speaker 4: But it required the other team pooping all over it.
- 1:37:54Speaker 2: They took advantage of bad football.
- 1:37:58Speaker 10: When when the when I the next day that was
- 1:38:01Speaker 10: even sat himself that that game was of course, I
- 1:38:06Speaker 10: would say that the Buffalo game from two years ago
- 1:38:08Speaker 10: that Evan's talking about was a lot more.
- 1:38:10Speaker 4: Sure. It wasn't just because Buffalo didn't bring it that day.
- 1:38:13Speaker 4: The Patriots played well. They did, and they stuck around,
- 1:38:15Speaker 4: and they hung around, they hung around, and they stole.
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: It wasn't the game from which the Patriots then got better.
- 1:38:22Speaker 10: But you know it WASNTI game.
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: Right, so at the end of the day, but there
- 1:38:26Speaker 2: was two things he was talking about in the moment.
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: It was a great win, it didn't turn out to
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: be a meaningful win. It did both to be true.
- 1:38:33Speaker 4: Can you give me an example of a meaningful win?
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: I have one.
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: I have one.
- 1:38:38Speaker 3: You know, the season finale last year it was a
- 1:38:43Speaker 3: meaningful win because it.
- 1:38:48Speaker 4: Mean that's a semantic argument that I be prue. But
- 1:38:52Speaker 4: can you honestly, because I think Fred the only thing
- 1:38:55Speaker 4: the way you can have a meaningful win is if
- 1:38:56Speaker 4: it ends up in the Super Bowl winning season or
- 1:38:58Speaker 4: like you get.
- 1:38:59Speaker 10: Maybe when they got in Cincinnati last year Week one,
- 1:39:03Speaker 10: it was it was a nice win for drawd and
- 1:39:05Speaker 10: for the regime and all that kind of stuff to
- 1:39:06Speaker 10: get the win week one. But everybody came out of
- 1:39:09Speaker 10: that game and said, they're never winning a football game
- 1:39:11Speaker 10: like that ever again. Even the coach said it that
- 1:39:13Speaker 10: they weren't gonna win it. When they beat Buffalo a
- 1:39:15Speaker 10: couple of years ago, the conversation around that game was
- 1:39:19Speaker 10: it could go one of two ways. This could either
- 1:39:20Speaker 10: be a jumping off point or it was, you know,
- 1:39:23Speaker 10: a blip.
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: It was right, And if it was a jumping off,
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: then it would have become a meaningful game. But it wasn't.
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: It wasn't a meaningful game, but the time, in the moment,
- 1:39:32Speaker 2: it was a great win.
- 1:39:33Speaker 4: I think you can win games that don't ultimately lead
- 1:39:35Speaker 4: to tremendous success that are meaningful. Sure, you know, I
- 1:39:41Speaker 4: can't even think of one off the top of my
- 1:39:43Speaker 4: head now, but I think.
- 1:39:43Speaker 3: Forrest two years, it's hard to have eight.
- 1:39:45Speaker 4: Because I don't think they've had I don't think they've
- 1:39:47Speaker 4: had any meaningful I think the closest to a meaningful
- 1:39:50Speaker 4: win is that Buffalo again, right, It has to mean something,
- 1:39:53Speaker 4: But that meant something that was a good win.
- 1:39:55Speaker 3: But a meaningful game in twenty twenty three would have
- 1:39:57Speaker 3: been faith restored in Belichick and the system and that
- 1:39:59Speaker 3: the guys are on board, because it felt like that was.
- 1:40:02Speaker 2: They had a lot of meaningful losses.
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: It's hard to find it last year. I mean, then,
- 1:40:07Speaker 3: I think you're right to point to that, since when
- 1:40:09Speaker 3: it was just a proof that they could win a game,
- 1:40:11Speaker 3: regardless of how it looked. But ultimately, in the grand
- 1:40:13Speaker 3: scheme of things, it wasn't mean. It wasn't, you know,
- 1:40:15Speaker 3: I think it goes back to what Fred said, like,
- 1:40:17Speaker 3: I'm just happy I've gotten us onto a weird puse sman.
- 1:40:19Speaker 4: No, I like it. I like it, but I like
- 1:40:22Speaker 4: sort of looking at things from different levels.
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: Yeah, but that's what I mean. The root of it, though,
- 1:40:27Speaker 3: is when people call in and they say, like, I
- 1:40:29Speaker 3: think the Patriots could beat the Ravens, Like, of course
- 1:40:31Speaker 3: they could win any single one of these games.
- 1:40:33Speaker 4: Everybody tells you they can't.
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: The meaningful win right after the Patriots aren't good anymore.
- 1:40:40Speaker 2: They came and they beat the Bengals. That was a
- 1:40:43Speaker 2: meaningful win.
- 1:40:44Speaker 4: So but that was only because they went on to
- 1:40:45Speaker 4: win the Super Bowl. According to you, Yeah, it meant
- 1:40:47Speaker 4: that they To me, you get backed into a court.
- 1:40:51Speaker 4: I think I think the Celtics winning last night was
- 1:40:53Speaker 4: a meaningful win even if they lose tomorrow night, okay,
- 1:40:56Speaker 4: because I think that they sort of had two choices.
- 1:40:59Speaker 4: You can tucktail and home and feel sorry for yourself. Well,
- 1:41:02Speaker 4: you can stand up and be a championship caliber team
- 1:41:04Speaker 4: and do what you're supposed to do to an inferior
- 1:41:06Speaker 4: opponent at home.
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:41:08Speaker 4: I think this meaning in that whether it leads to
- 1:41:11Speaker 4: a comeback from three to one happen to agree with you, like,
- 1:41:14Speaker 4: I don't think what happens after a should impact whether
- 1:41:17Speaker 4: or not you're thinking.
- 1:41:18Speaker 10: For Celtics fans, and I needed that game.
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: I needed it.
- 1:41:23Speaker 2: Meaning to you.
- 1:41:23Speaker 10: I was sitting there like first quarter second for me,
- 1:41:27Speaker 10: I couldn't get myself.
- 1:41:28Speaker 4: If they tomorrow night, I'll feel better than I would
- 1:41:30Speaker 4: have if they lost last night. Sure, and I know
- 1:41:33Speaker 4: that sounds silly.
- 1:41:34Speaker 3: It's the same thing. At least I'll feel better.
- 1:41:37Speaker 2: Yeah, No, I feel better that meaning it had meaning.
- 1:41:40Speaker 4: I'll continue to cross sports. Mike, you don't remember this.
- 1:41:44Speaker 4: Probably no one else will because no one else cares.
- 1:41:46Speaker 4: The very beginning of the sort of rebirth of the Bruins, like, oh,
- 1:41:50Speaker 4: eight ish, they had a seven game first round series
- 1:41:54Speaker 4: with Montreal. They won a game at home in game six,
- 1:41:58Speaker 4: and then they ended up losing a game seven. I
- 1:42:00Speaker 4: think that was sort of the rebirth of Bruins hockey.
- 1:42:03Speaker 4: That game had I think a lot of meaning. Even
- 1:42:06Speaker 4: though they lost the next game, we're out of the playoffs.
- 1:42:10Speaker 4: And then it took them what three or four more
- 1:42:12Speaker 4: years to get the cup. But I want to say
- 1:42:15Speaker 4: eight seven eight, maybe a little bit it was like
- 1:42:19Speaker 4: early Chara bergeron that kind of crew.
- 1:42:22Speaker 3: Yeah, it was. How close were the moral victory conversation
- 1:42:27Speaker 3: right now? Like we're like the like the diagram of
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: like moral victories or.
- 1:42:34Speaker 4: When you lose, right, that's a luxury. Is a loss
- 1:42:37Speaker 4: the only moral victory that I'm willing to even contemplate.
- 1:42:40Speaker 4: Fred note will notice when they lost to the Rams
- 1:42:44Speaker 4: in the two thousand and one season, they could compete
- 1:42:46Speaker 4: regular season. I think they learned a lot about themselves.
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: Well, I want to throw more one game out there.
- 1:42:50Speaker 3: Would you say when the Patriots Tom Brady went down
- 1:42:53Speaker 3: in Week one of two thousand and eight and then
- 1:42:54Speaker 3: they beat the Jets the next week, that was a
- 1:42:56Speaker 3: comp I used for last night.
- 1:42:57Speaker 4: So I will called that a meaningful win. I mean
- 1:42:59Speaker 4: a game that they did make the playoffs. Yeah, series
- 1:43:02Speaker 4: a season they didn't make the playoffs, But I do
- 1:43:03Speaker 4: think that was a meaningful showed everybody, It showed everybody
- 1:43:06Speaker 4: would not the.
- 1:43:07Speaker 3: Jets Tom Brady.
- 1:43:08Speaker 4: We still won the Jets. We can win games.
- 1:43:11Speaker 10: Really, we can't go ahead because that's just like sort
- 1:43:14Speaker 10: of how I feel right now about the Celtics is like,
- 1:43:17Speaker 10: if they keep this team together just minus Jason Tatum,
- 1:43:20Speaker 10: like they won't stink. They're not they're not They're not
- 1:43:23Speaker 10: the favorites to win the title anymore, but like they'll
- 1:43:25Speaker 10: have a season next year, Whereas like Tuesday, I was
- 1:43:29Speaker 10: like the world is ending and I'm gonna jump off
- 1:43:31Speaker 10: a bridge. Like no, but I feel like Facilitation maybe
- 1:43:34Speaker 10: win fifty games next year.
- 1:43:35Speaker 19: You pull them off the ledge.
- 1:43:36Speaker 4: Right. This is the most aligned I've ever been with Evan.
- 1:43:39Speaker 4: In the show I Did It Buffalo two years ago,
- 1:43:43Speaker 4: Celtics talks were like aligned completely.
- 1:43:46Speaker 2: Boston Cream's on the hotline. What's up, Boston?
- 1:43:49Speaker 4: I ran Iraq coming together, Boston Cream?
- 1:43:53Speaker 26: Hey, what's up?
- 1:43:53Speaker 4: Play?
- 1:43:54Speaker 11: I got a quick game. It's called two or none.
- 1:43:58Speaker 27: For the twenty twenty fives, two or none, So you
- 1:44:02Speaker 27: have to pick either two or none. Seven hundred yard receivers, two.
- 1:44:14Speaker 11: Six hundred yard rosters.
- 1:44:16Speaker 4: One one zero.
- 1:44:18Speaker 3: It's two or non. Guys, come on zero.
- 1:44:22Speaker 2: Two or zero makes it tougher.
- 1:44:25Speaker 4: Two, Yeah, I gotta say two.
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: Oh two.
- 1:44:32Speaker 4: Yeah, That'll go none on that one. For interception guys,
- 1:44:38Speaker 4: I'm gonna go none on that one.
- 1:44:40Speaker 2: None, yeah, two no.
- 1:44:42Speaker 10: Faith in Carlton Davis.
- 1:44:45Speaker 25: Venerian Low starts oh.
- 1:44:49Speaker 10: Low starts, no disrespect, but hopefully zero none.
- 1:44:53Speaker 4: I'm gonna say none.
- 1:44:56Speaker 15: Overtime games.
- 1:44:59Speaker 4: Two none none.
- 1:45:03Speaker 11: Wins against twenty twenty four playoff teams.
- 1:45:06Speaker 27: They play five games.
- 1:45:08Speaker 28: Two, so that would be Buffalo, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Man, Tampa,
- 1:45:16Speaker 28: Tampa Bay two none.
- 1:45:21Speaker 27: Eric Scalabino girlfriend none seven all right, guys, oiler.
- 1:45:28Speaker 2: All right, thanks Boston Cream.
- 1:45:30Speaker 28: Scal still catching straight, not bart Scale, still scal bart
- 1:45:35Speaker 28: on the market?
- 1:45:36Speaker 2: Does he care?
- 1:45:38Speaker 10: We're working on it. So we're working on it, you know,
- 1:45:41Speaker 10: like some people.
- 1:45:42Speaker 2: Just don't care. Like he's married to the game, whatever dating.
- 1:45:45Speaker 9: Show for him.
- 1:45:47Speaker 3: That that could be the schedule I get.
- 1:45:51Speaker 9: I'm sure Bacherette interested in Alex Bart right into the show.
- 1:45:55Speaker 10: It's a long list, right, It's gonna be a.
- 1:45:57Speaker 3: Girl who loves college.
- 1:45:58Speaker 4: I don't liking this fixing up Alex. Can we fix
- 1:46:02Speaker 4: up Alex?
- 1:46:02Speaker 10: I've been trying for five years to know.
- 1:46:04Speaker 4: But you don't have the tools our Alex probably have more.
- 1:46:08Speaker 10: That's fair.
- 1:46:09Speaker 3: There's I don't want to speak for Alex. I only
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: speak for my wife. But there's nothing girls like better
- 1:46:15Speaker 3: than setting people up like it is like they got
- 1:46:17Speaker 3: a friend. Oh my god, I know, just the hate.
- 1:46:20Speaker 3: They love it. They love it, and I'm like, wage
- 1:46:23Speaker 3: over there, did you get really you had a set up?
- 1:46:27Speaker 3: Well sometimes it works for sure, but they loved his
- 1:46:29Speaker 3: sister A lot of tries, a lot of tries.
- 1:46:31Speaker 4: I know, I had to imagine that this was off
- 1:46:33Speaker 4: the market.
- 1:46:34Speaker 3: For well, I know, I saw your problem, pot, I
- 1:46:38Speaker 3: like blue suit powder that Yeah, that was that your
- 1:46:43Speaker 3: like junior promise.
- 1:46:44Speaker 4: Oh I didn't have I've lost I've lost powder, blue
- 1:46:47Speaker 4: suit in my trou point Miami vice all white. That
- 1:46:52Speaker 4: was my senior problem. I roue with a regular black.
- 1:46:56Speaker 4: I had the regular black dynasty Junior.
- 1:46:59Speaker 3: Did you get the hat with the chain?
- 1:47:00Speaker 4: No hat? No one?
- 1:47:02Speaker 10: Prom one, prom one, you have no junior problems. It's
- 1:47:08Speaker 10: a harbor cruise, Everett, pimp Perila junior Harbor cruise.
- 1:47:13Speaker 3: Of the year.
- 1:47:18Speaker 2: All right, Michael writes in forgive me, Father Fred, for
- 1:47:22Speaker 2: I have sinned. But Evan is a hypocrite. The second
- 1:47:26Speaker 2: Paul and Duce start talking about Jaws or you talk
- 1:47:29Speaker 2: about speed, Queen, Evan shimes in, can we get back
- 1:47:32Speaker 2: to football? But if the Celtics come up, He's more
- 1:47:35Speaker 2: than happy to spend an hour on not football. You
- 1:47:39Speaker 2: may want to consider a Celtics jar where Evan will
- 1:47:41Speaker 2: have to put a dollar in each time he talks
- 1:47:43Speaker 2: about Celtics on a football show, or maybe you deduct
- 1:47:47Speaker 2: a minute each time from his all twenty two allowance,
- 1:47:50Speaker 2: just an idea.
- 1:47:51Speaker 10: Well, I think an hour is a little bit of
- 1:47:53Speaker 10: an exaggeration, maybe, like you know, five to ten minutes
- 1:47:58Speaker 10: a show, and I think that's the reasonable hour.
- 1:48:00Speaker 2: Yeah, but you would you would continue to talk if
- 1:48:04Speaker 2: we you know, right?
- 1:48:05Speaker 10: I mean, I'm sorry, but on May fifteenth, I think
- 1:48:09Speaker 10: doing more on the Celtics, he's far more interesting than.
- 1:48:13Speaker 2: If this was January. You do it. Speaking of hypocrits, No,
- 1:48:16Speaker 2: do you think Bill is on a path of tarnishing
- 1:48:19Speaker 2: his patriots legacy where while he'll get in, he won't
- 1:48:22Speaker 2: have the same pomp and circumstance as Brady.
- 1:48:26Speaker 4: I don't think he was ever going to have the
- 1:48:27Speaker 4: same pomp and circumstances Brady.
- 1:48:30Speaker 3: I don't think he'd want it.
- 1:48:30Speaker 4: But yes, the short answer to that question, I would say, yes,
- 1:48:33Speaker 4: he's I think really sort of walking that line of tarnishing.
- 1:48:39Speaker 2: His I mean, we've had a lot of callers or
- 1:48:41Speaker 2: email or say, hell, come, you guys don't talk about
- 1:48:43Speaker 2: what's going on with him? Like looking at the end
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: of the day, you know who loses out on all
- 1:48:47Speaker 2: this we do? Like why can't we have anything nice?
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: You know?
- 1:48:52Speaker 19: Like also, how are people just sick of that?
- 1:48:55Speaker 10: I just don't know, like to the Patriots and like
- 1:49:00Speaker 10: he's doing this on somebody else's dime, Like this has
- 1:49:02Speaker 10: nothing to do with the Patriots. Like the Falcons like
- 1:49:05Speaker 10: put it in like their schedule release video as like
- 1:49:07Speaker 10: a jab at the Patriots. That really yeah, And I
- 1:49:11Speaker 10: just didn't get that. I was, like, he's employed by
- 1:49:13Speaker 10: North Carolina Football. He hasn't been the Patriots coaching three years.
- 1:49:16Speaker 4: Like I don't really I think I might know you
- 1:49:18Speaker 4: an apology? You know how you have all these feuds
- 1:49:21Speaker 4: with all the teams? Is this where they like sort
- 1:49:24Speaker 4: of originate? Is these scheduled videos? And that's why I
- 1:49:27Speaker 4: don't ever know.
- 1:49:28Speaker 2: What they're talking.
- 1:49:30Speaker 4: He explained his gripes. It is it just because this
- 1:49:34Speaker 4: like I would have never known that the Falcons took
- 1:49:36Speaker 4: a shot at Belichick in the Patriots in that video.
- 1:49:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't care what these what people saying this schedule.
- 1:49:43Speaker 10: V I don't care. I just want the joke to
- 1:49:45Speaker 10: be funny, like that has nothing like Jordan Hudson has
- 1:49:48Speaker 10: nothing to do with the New England Patriots.
- 1:49:50Speaker 4: Like she's.
- 1:49:53Speaker 3: She's been rattling the Falcon's cage with some.
- 1:49:55Speaker 4: Has she really she did them?
- 1:49:57Speaker 10: Yeah, so that might be what it's about than anything.
- 1:50:01Speaker 2: They've They've taken plenty of shots at the Falcons, you know,
- 1:50:04Speaker 2: turn about his fair play? Yeah, David, and d C
- 1:50:08Speaker 2: writes in I have learned so much from you all
- 1:50:11Speaker 2: this offseason. One Fred goes over the top rather than
- 1:50:15Speaker 2: through the door. I don't know.
- 1:50:19Speaker 4: No, don't you go through the door? I go over
- 1:50:21Speaker 4: the top.
- 1:50:21Speaker 2: Yeah. Two Paul has a hot sister. Three Mike likes
- 1:50:27Speaker 2: the Celtics as much as he likes Tom Brady. That's
- 1:50:30Speaker 2: not much. Four Alex likes dudes and backwards caps. Evan.
- 1:50:35Speaker 2: He still thinks he knows everything about football, and probably does,
- 1:50:38Speaker 2: but very little about anything else. Six I miss Andy's
- 1:50:42Speaker 2: advice about swamp ass. Seven it took a year, but
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: the silos finally came down and there appears to be
- 1:50:48Speaker 2: some collaboration. What does that mean?
- 1:50:52Speaker 4: Football?
- 1:50:52Speaker 2: Football? Okay? And eight The Pope has a degree in mathematics.
- 1:50:58Speaker 2: He not only knows sin, he knows cozy O coast sign.
- 1:51:02Speaker 2: What does that mean?
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: That's a master? Is he like?
- 1:51:06Speaker 4: It's like trigonometry sign?
- 1:51:08Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:51:09Speaker 2: Okays that that's that wasn't funny?
- 1:51:14Speaker 3: Wow, especially the part about me?
- 1:51:16Speaker 25: How dare you.
- 1:51:18Speaker 2: By all this West Coast East coast? Paul spiing Frezo says,
- 1:51:21Speaker 2: Paul doesn't seem to understand that the grass grows and
- 1:51:24Speaker 2: reverse on the East Coast. This creates an inseparable obstacle
- 1:51:30Speaker 2: and superabol I don't know if that's the way he
- 1:51:32Speaker 2: did play West Coast.
- 1:51:34Speaker 4: That's a big transition. He's gonna have to learn how
- 1:51:35Speaker 4: to play on green Well.
- 1:51:37Speaker 10: To be fair, though, he used to wear the blue
- 1:51:38Speaker 10: jersey on the blue grass and it was hard to
- 1:51:40Speaker 10: see him. So maybe now I'll be easier to see
- 1:51:43Speaker 10: him and it makes easier to tackle. We gotta think
- 1:51:46Speaker 10: of that.
- 1:51:46Speaker 3: We've got a hybrid here. It's a California sense of mea.
- 1:51:49Speaker 3: The great thing about.
- 1:51:49Speaker 10: Eastern Washington did the same thing.
- 1:51:51Speaker 4: You can smoke it right and what happens Jesus, Jesus,
- 1:52:00Speaker 4: Jared and Newburyport.
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: No one cares about pu degenerate callers in their poopy
- 1:52:05Speaker 2: ass phone lines, never mind what they look like. I
- 1:52:09Speaker 2: heard you guys are gonna resurrect this idea.
- 1:52:12Speaker 6: Now, yeah, I was waiting for like a lull. We
- 1:52:14Speaker 6: had the draft, we had the schedule, so it's gonna
- 1:52:16Speaker 6: come soon.
- 1:52:17Speaker 2: So I got But are you getting the emails that
- 1:52:19Speaker 2: have coming in?
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:52:20Speaker 9: OK, unless you've gotten any reason that you haven't.
- 1:52:23Speaker 2: Well, I noticed some came in after the last show.
- 1:52:30Speaker 2: So did you get those? How were you going to
- 1:52:33Speaker 2: get those?
- 1:52:34Speaker 4: Going to ask you forward them to me?
- 1:52:37Speaker 9: Unprompted?
- 1:52:39Speaker 2: Instead of some bs guessing game, I vote for a
- 1:52:41Speaker 2: conversation between Dan Shaughnessy played by Fred, Pete Carroll played
- 1:52:46Speaker 2: by Paul, and Jackie Mason played by Fred again regarding
- 1:52:49Speaker 2: which current NFL players could excel in the NBA.
- 1:52:52Speaker 10: Not okay, but.
- 1:52:56Speaker 4: They all think they could. They all think they could.
- 1:53:00Speaker 10: The answer is zero.
- 1:53:02Speaker 2: Let's see. Castillo writes in longtime listener, first time emailer.
- 1:53:07Speaker 2: Oh it's Edwin in Texas. Oh Hey, Edwin, how you doing?
- 1:53:10Speaker 2: I just wanted to say hello and thank everyone for
- 1:53:13Speaker 2: the great work you guys put in. But the call
- 1:53:16Speaker 2: from Christian in La, Oh my god, I really can't
- 1:53:18Speaker 2: believe fans want to lose for draft positions we are
- 1:53:21Speaker 2: Oh and O geezer man, I hate to lose. Please
- 1:53:25Speaker 2: be more positive. We're going to become the Jets at
- 1:53:27Speaker 2: this rate we're going through right now. I think Christian
- 1:53:31Speaker 2: was trolling us. I actually do no.
- 1:53:32Speaker 3: I think he's embracing his No.
- 1:53:34Speaker 2: I think he was just doing it to get it.
- 1:53:35Speaker 10: I think there's genuinely people that believe like there's no
- 1:53:39Speaker 10: point in being like, you know, the third wildcard of
- 1:53:42Speaker 10: being the seventh seed and losing in the first round
- 1:53:44Speaker 10: in the playoffs when you could be picking in the
- 1:53:46Speaker 10: top ten and get the draft pick.
- 1:53:48Speaker 4: I would say I would not want to be in
- 1:53:50Speaker 4: that spot, like three four years in a row, the
- 1:53:52Speaker 4: way Pittsburgh is right now, and they're kind of on
- 1:53:55Speaker 4: that treadmill. And I don't like that treadmill. But if
- 1:53:58Speaker 4: you're asking me right now, I would I'd rather be
- 1:54:00Speaker 4: four and thirteen or the seventh seed in the playoffs. Like,
- 1:54:04Speaker 4: I don't understand how that's even a thought.
- 1:54:06Speaker 3: Well maybe I'm wrong, but I felt like Christian was
- 1:54:08Speaker 3: implying like he's trying to get back to dynasty status,
- 1:54:10Speaker 3: Like he's trying to get a dynasty in place instead
- 1:54:12Speaker 3: of like you're back in the wilderness, but just trying
- 1:54:15Speaker 3: to find a championship.
- 1:54:16Speaker 4: I'm okay with that sort of grandiose thought, like that's
- 1:54:20Speaker 4: that's what I want. I want to get back to dynasty.
- 1:54:22Speaker 4: But why do you have to go from bottom to
- 1:54:25Speaker 4: dynasty without any steps along the way. Why can't you
- 1:54:28Speaker 4: go seven and ten, eight and nine, then go say
- 1:54:32Speaker 4: ten and seven or eleven and six and then be
- 1:54:34Speaker 4: the dynasty caliber team. Why why is the only way
- 1:54:37Speaker 4: to make that progression in the top five? Why is
- 1:54:40Speaker 4: that the only way to do it?
- 1:54:41Speaker 10: Well, Like, look at Detroit, like they're not a dynasty,
- 1:54:43Speaker 10: but like Detroit had that one season in between where
- 1:54:47Speaker 10: they went like three thirteen and one in Dan Campbell's
- 1:54:50Speaker 10: first year, then they wanted where like one game out
- 1:54:53Speaker 10: of the playoffs his second year eight right, and then
- 1:54:55Speaker 10: the third year there they were the best team in
- 1:54:58Speaker 10: the NFC during the regular season. Like that that happens?
- 1:55:01Speaker 10: Or like, yeah, you go eight and nine, next year
- 1:55:03Speaker 10: you're twelve thirteen wins.
- 1:55:05Speaker 2: James in Atlanta by way of Maine. I would venture
- 1:55:07Speaker 2: to say that if the Patriots are twelve and five,
- 1:55:09Speaker 2: the draft class has become a nucleus that has probably
- 1:55:12Speaker 2: set up for future success.
- 1:55:13Speaker 4: Is so a good point.
- 1:55:14Speaker 2: Yeah, good point, Like why are you twelve and five?
- 1:55:17Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:55:17Speaker 2: Right, probably because you've got some good players in your team, now,
- 1:55:21Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:55:22Speaker 4: And I think his premise was they got some wins
- 1:55:25Speaker 4: that didn't necessarily mean they were that good. Their record
- 1:55:28Speaker 4: was better than the team because of the schedule, I
- 1:55:31Speaker 4: think was his point. But I think I think you
- 1:55:34Speaker 4: could go, you know, nine and eight, ten and seven
- 1:55:36Speaker 4: and maybe not be quite as good as the record
- 1:55:38Speaker 4: because of the schedule. You win twelve at thirteen games,
- 1:55:41Speaker 4: the way people are talking, you're probably pretty good. That's
- 1:55:43Speaker 4: a lot of wins, don't you think.
- 1:55:45Speaker 3: I mean, it's a little too too many for me.
- 1:55:48Speaker 10: But I don't think like anybody's saying that about Washington.
- 1:55:50Speaker 10: I keep going back to them, like no one's saying like, oh,
- 1:55:52Speaker 10: it was a cupcake schedule.
- 1:55:53Speaker 4: And there's a chance that that that's true. You know,
- 1:55:56Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:55:56Speaker 10: I have a second year.
- 1:55:57Speaker 4: I don't know that schedule. I think that's often thing
- 1:56:00Speaker 4: where you sort of take two steps forward to one
- 1:56:02Speaker 4: step back.
- 1:56:02Speaker 10: I mean, like Houston still made the playoffs.
- 1:56:05Speaker 4: They did, but they did they absolutely were not as
- 1:56:08Speaker 4: cohesive on the field in year two of the Stroud era.
- 1:56:12Speaker 2: Let's see Eric and Maryland. I'm usually amazed at the
- 1:56:15Speaker 2: way Paul can pull facts and figures out of the
- 1:56:17Speaker 2: air concerning Patriots games from the past, and I doubt
- 1:56:19Speaker 2: I could stump he who knows all, But with the
- 1:56:22Speaker 2: schedule coming out, I decided to take a shot. Just
- 1:56:25Speaker 2: this morning, I got my tickets to see the Patriots
- 1:56:27Speaker 2: take on the Ravens on my birthday in December. I've
- 1:56:30Speaker 2: chalked this game up as a win. Knock on wood,
- 1:56:33Speaker 2: since the Patriots have won every game I've ever attended.
- 1:56:36Speaker 2: Granted I've only been to five games, but still I
- 1:56:38Speaker 2: take full credit for those wins as my aura spurs
- 1:56:42Speaker 2: the Patriots the victor. My test for Paul is who
- 1:56:45Speaker 2: were the opposing quarterbacks in those five wins? So the
- 1:56:49Speaker 2: first one was the Bengals in twenty twenty four.
- 1:56:53Speaker 4: Joe that was last year. Yep, Joe Burrow and Kobe Wessett.
- 1:56:57Speaker 2: Who's the posing quarter Just oh yeah, Burrow, Joe Burrow.
- 1:57:00Speaker 2: Two the Steelers in twenty three.
- 1:57:04Speaker 10: Kenny Pickett.
- 1:57:05Speaker 4: Wasn't it No? It was Trubisky?
- 1:57:08Speaker 2: Correct. Three the Steelers in twenty two.
- 1:57:13Speaker 10: That was Kenny Pickett. One of those games is Kenny Pickett.
- 1:57:17Speaker 4: No, I've played this game before, and the answered to
- 1:57:19Speaker 4: one of these questions is Kenny Pickett?
- 1:57:21Speaker 2: Correct? Again again the Panthers in twenty.
- 1:57:25Speaker 29: One, Panthers in twenty one, so Sam Darnold's correct. And
- 1:57:34Speaker 29: finally the Seahawks and.
- 1:57:36Speaker 4: Eight Seahawks and oaight was Mann Hasselbeck No incorrect?
- 1:57:40Speaker 3: No wait, oh shoot, don't say this one. I know it.
- 1:57:42Speaker 3: Oh God, like Seneca Wallace.
- 1:57:44Speaker 2: Correct, Seneca correct game. Now I see why he wins
- 1:57:48Speaker 2: all the games that he goes.
- 1:57:49Speaker 4: Ye a common theme. So I would anticipate seeing someone
- 1:57:55Speaker 4: other than Lamar Jackson when you go.
- 1:57:58Speaker 3: Maybe they'll be Cunningham.
- 1:58:00Speaker 2: All right. Final final email Cam Camrion Cam Yuron from Inglewood, California.
- 1:58:07Speaker 2: You know where Inglewood. In terms of the schedule release,
- 1:58:11Speaker 2: I'm most excited for a week five prime time on
- 1:58:13Speaker 2: the road. I personally think that has to be Drake
- 1:58:16Speaker 2: May's coming out game. Hope he can plan his flag
- 1:58:19Speaker 2: and put the league unnoticed that he's here to stay.
- 1:58:21Speaker 2: The Patriots are back to being relevant again. What better
- 1:58:25Speaker 2: tests for the team than against the division champs.
- 1:58:28Speaker 3: It's a good game. Nice to avoid Buffalo and January.
- 1:58:30Speaker 3: They've been late there the last couple of years.
- 1:58:32Speaker 4: Chances of that game getting flexed out.
- 1:58:35Speaker 10: By week five, I don't think.
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: Not early in the season.
- 1:58:37Speaker 3: I'd say better chance for the can they fox the
- 1:58:40Speaker 3: Monday night game? Yeah, the Giants game later in the season.
- 1:58:43Speaker 3: That would be where my money would be talking flexing,
- 1:58:46Speaker 3: I would agree.
- 1:58:47Speaker 2: All right, Well, listen, it's been fun, but it's over.
- 1:58:51Speaker 2: H So that's it for this edition of Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:58:55Speaker 4: It'll be our last show life life in general.
- 1:58:59Speaker 2: What's going on this weekend? Anything big? Celtics Tomorrow night.
- 1:59:03Speaker 10: I'm not allowed to talk about the Celtics anymore.
- 1:59:06Speaker 4: You can you just have forty seconds?
- 1:59:09Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:59:09Speaker 10: I wouldn't want to go in the Celtics.
- 1:59:13Speaker 2: Tomorrow.
- 1:59:14Speaker 10: Look for that.
- 1:59:16Speaker 2: We'll make sure that if you're on social media, you
- 1:59:19Speaker 2: know that it's dropped.
- 1:59:21Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:59:21Speaker 2: So that'll be coming out tomorrow. Very excited you. Other
- 1:59:23Speaker 2: than that, have see you next Tuesday.
