- 0:16Speaker 1: Well, thank you, big dog, Thank you man. N it's chilling.
- 0:18Speaker 1: What's going on, man, Just working on some new music.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Man got a new album coming out November, third Man
- 0:23Speaker 1: at the Winter, So it just started to come out
- 0:26Speaker 1: here and hang out with you man and talk about it. Man.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Yes, it's crazy because, like you we were just talking
- 0:31Speaker 2: a little bit, you guys, Like you know, I talked
- 0:34Speaker 2: to Bash a lot, and He's like, I'm busier now
- 0:37Speaker 2: than I've been my whole career.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Like you guys.
- 0:40Speaker 2: I feel like every weekend I see you guys doing
- 0:43Speaker 2: like three or four shows together.
- 0:45Speaker 1: And I feel that too, Man, even me, I'm more
- 0:47Speaker 1: busy this time than I ever was before too. And
- 0:50Speaker 1: it's just different this time, and I appreciate it more so,
- 0:53Speaker 1: like going out there and making the people happy and everything.
- 0:55Speaker 1: So it's been a really good giant. Man. So you
- 0:57Speaker 1: have me, Bash and Magic been doing these shows for
- 0:59Speaker 1: the past that's like four years and uh and just
- 1:02Speaker 1: rocking them, man, you know what I mean?
- 1:03Speaker 3: Do you what do you attribute to that? Do you
- 1:05Speaker 3: think it's like people?
- 1:05Speaker 2: Because I think like music is kind of in a
- 1:08Speaker 2: weird place where, like, you know, we don't have a
- 1:11Speaker 2: perfect example, Like a lot of tours this past summer
- 1:13Speaker 2: got canceled, but the ones that didn't get canceled were
- 1:16Speaker 2: like fifty Cents Tour and with Khalifa and Snoops Tour.
- 1:19Speaker 2: I feel like, for whatever reason, like if you're coming
- 1:23Speaker 2: from a certain era, like the fans, I kind of
- 1:26Speaker 2: missed that ship because the current music is it's.
- 1:28Speaker 3: A little it's a little microwavable if you will.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I mean, I like a little bit of everything.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Man.
- 1:32Speaker 1: But I know who would have thought that back in
- 1:34Speaker 1: the days we would write that kind of music that
- 1:36Speaker 1: would last, you know, as long as it has man,
- 1:38Speaker 1: and hopefully it lasts forever, you know what I mean.
- 1:41Speaker 1: But to be a part of that is really really dope.
- 1:43Speaker 1: And and the fact that me and Fingers wrote a
- 1:46Speaker 1: song called Summer Nice to kind of blew the hell
- 1:47Speaker 1: up and and uh, yeah, that's what I've been surviving
- 1:51Speaker 1: off for a long time. Dog's been that's crazy.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Yeah, Yo, when you wrote the line right next to
- 1:57Speaker 2: the Pacific to be specific, one of the hardest lines ever.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like a quick, essential little robine.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, you know I've heard people make fun of
- 2:06Speaker 1: it sometimes, man, like, oh, you put those rhymes together
- 2:09Speaker 1: out of each all the time. But hey, man, you
- 2:11Speaker 1: know I used to live right there by the by
- 2:13Speaker 1: the specific to be specific. So that's why, man, everything
- 2:17Speaker 1: was written and not not s kitchen right there in
- 2:19Speaker 1: my town, so you know, it's off on the beach.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I was gonna say you kind of like when I
- 2:24Speaker 2: think of San Diego. I mean, obviously recently there's been
- 2:26Speaker 2: some dope dudes out of San Diego, but I think
- 2:28Speaker 2: of you.
- 2:28Speaker 3: I think jail felt me.
- 2:29Speaker 2: I kind of think you guys are kind of like
- 2:31Speaker 2: the yeah, the San Diego guys for you, Like you've
- 2:34Speaker 2: been carrying that San Diego flag for so long, Like
- 2:37Speaker 2: why do you think like San Diego still hasn't really
- 2:40Speaker 2: popped yet in terms of like mainstream hip hop.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I mean I don't really I don't really pay attention
- 2:45Speaker 1: to like what's really going on or why why I
- 2:47Speaker 1: don't hit? I mean, I guess if you just have
- 2:49Speaker 1: a hit record, then it's just gonna It's just gonna happen,
- 2:52Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Like even me, like Summer Nights,
- 2:53Speaker 1: I couldn't even stop it. I didn't try to write
- 2:55Speaker 1: a hit record, but it just kind of happened that way.
- 2:58Speaker 1: And I think that, you know, whatever the people are
- 3:00Speaker 1: digging at the time, I guess you know a lot
- 3:02Speaker 1: of luck, I guess too, you know everything.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a lot of luck involved.
- 3:06Speaker 1: With shine right place, right people and all that. You know.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, I was gonna ask you for you
- 3:13Speaker 2: like seeing kind of when you guys first came out,
- 3:17Speaker 2: I feel like there was like the low rider circuit.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Obviously radio supported you guys. There was kind of like
- 3:24Speaker 2: this like very small collective of like Latin art or
- 3:28Speaker 2: Mexican artists doing hip hop. Now I feel like it's
- 3:32Speaker 2: gotten so big to where, like, you know, I never
- 3:36Speaker 2: ever thought that I would like see like a guy
- 3:38Speaker 2: like Paesel Pluma doing like the VMA's right, or a
- 3:42Speaker 2: guy like are you a hip to that Mexican ot.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Super dope? Like like I feel.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Like too many of the jams or nothing like that, right,
- 3:51Speaker 1: But when I have come across from him, way dope.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Yeah, it just feels like the the like Mexican space
- 3:58Speaker 2: and hip hop. And obviously I don't want to call
- 3:59Speaker 2: pac hip hop because you're not. But the Mexican space
- 4:02Speaker 2: and hip hop has grown to be like so so big,
- 4:04Speaker 2: Like there's so many like independent artists, artist getting signed
- 4:07Speaker 2: the major labels like and you guys are kind of
- 4:10Speaker 2: like the forefathers of a lot of that.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Ship, you know what I'm saying.
- 4:12Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure people were rapping everywhere, you know what
- 4:14Speaker 1: I mean, like in San Diego, in La and you know, I.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Just be like in terms of like there being like
- 4:19Speaker 2: a real like recognition of like what guys.
- 4:21Speaker 1: I was able to see it with the social media
- 4:23Speaker 1: and everything, you know, because back when I came up,
- 4:25Speaker 1: it was uh, you know, proper those Yeah, you know
- 4:27Speaker 1: what I mean. There was empower leship brown as the
- 4:30Speaker 1: tribe uh Spanish fly from the Harbor area that I
- 4:34Speaker 1: would bomb.
- 4:35Speaker 3: And then there was like shows like Pocos Pedals locals
- 4:37Speaker 3: who would like.
- 4:37Speaker 1: You know a little bit later.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Yeah, right, you would have to like listen like Sunday
- 4:40Speaker 2: Nights in Phoenix and be able to kind of discover
- 4:42Speaker 2: all these artists. But I just feel like now it's
- 4:44Speaker 2: like it's like so big, like you know what I'm saying,
- 4:47Speaker 2: Like in terms of just the it feels like there's
- 4:49Speaker 2: a real movement like for you, do you like, are
- 4:51Speaker 2: you somebody who's gotten to the point in your career
- 4:53Speaker 2: where you're looking to like sign any artists?
- 4:54Speaker 3: Are you just kind of working on.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Your own ship traveling kind of know who I was
- 4:58Speaker 1: when I signed with the label, you know, and what
- 5:00Speaker 1: kind of a headache I was to them, you know,
- 5:02Speaker 1: but not showing up the shows and doing you know,
- 5:04Speaker 1: they would set up shows and everything and I would
- 5:06Speaker 1: have to, you know, go, but sometimes I wouldn't even
- 5:08Speaker 1: show up for just one go or call them that
- 5:10Speaker 1: same morning and say I'm not gonna make it after
- 5:12Speaker 1: there's been promotion going on for that show and everything,
- 5:15Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Too much partying, Uh nah,
- 5:18Speaker 1: just not really wanted to get get on the road. Man.
- 5:21Speaker 1: It wasn't really like a thing to me, you know
- 5:22Speaker 1: what I mean? Right, A lot of bullshit have to
- 5:24Speaker 1: pad too and stuff like that, you know what I mean.
- 5:26Speaker 1: So I just wouldn't end up going and really enjoying everything. Man.
- 5:29Speaker 1: So but nowadays it's very different.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Is that why you said you appreciate it more this time.
- 5:33Speaker 1: I appreciate it a lot more now, you know what
- 5:35Speaker 1: I mean. And it's not for the money, it's not
- 5:36Speaker 1: for the likes, it's not for anything like that. Like
- 5:39Speaker 1: this new album. Man, it's coming back for the fuck over,
- 5:41Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Because I've been doing shows
- 5:42Speaker 1: for a long time with Magic and Bash, and we've
- 5:44Speaker 1: been selling them out, man, so that they're to check
- 5:46Speaker 1: us out. Man, And they'd be asking me when it's
- 5:48Speaker 1: a new music coming, and I never have an answer
- 5:50Speaker 1: for him.
- 5:51Speaker 3: So but now no, I do any features on the
- 5:53Speaker 3: new album.
- 5:54Speaker 1: No, I just saw me.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Man, that's dope. I'm working with Fingers again.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Because yeah, yeah, you haven't songs with Fingers. We have
- 5:59Speaker 1: one jam on there might not make it, man, it's
- 6:02Speaker 1: fun partly my favorite one on the jam, but on
- 6:04Speaker 1: the thing. But trying to clear the sample, man and
- 6:06Speaker 1: getting back at us. So we've got to clear that sample.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Man. Yeah, that's tough. Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Yeah, so your favorite song on the album might not
- 6:14Speaker 2: make it because of a sample.
- 6:15Speaker 1: One of my favorites. It's really like, you know, like
- 6:18Speaker 1: repping and you know what.
- 6:19Speaker 3: You know what can you tell tell us what sample
- 6:21Speaker 3: it is?
- 6:22Speaker 1: Uh? You know what, man, I can't even think off
- 6:23Speaker 1: hand with it. It's hard to fight and oldie.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Yeah, oh, they're hitting you for sure, they get in
- 6:28Speaker 3: your pocket.
- 6:28Speaker 1: It's a hard to find one. I am getting back
- 6:30Speaker 1: at us.
- 6:31Speaker 3: I said, oh, they're not even getting back at you.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Now. We're waiting. We're waiting for I.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Said, you just let a flo you know what I mean.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Sometimes you got to just let the sample fly.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Yeah, let's see what happened.
- 6:40Speaker 2: You know, there's a guy name There's a dude I
- 6:42Speaker 2: know named Static Selector who's a big hip hop producer
- 6:44Speaker 2: and he puts out albums and I always ask him
- 6:47Speaker 2: because he's independent and.
- 6:48Speaker 3: All his beats are sampled.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Oh yeah yeah, And.
- 6:51Speaker 3: I'm like, dude, you must have a hard time and
- 6:53Speaker 3: he's like.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Well, that's like that's like me too. With everyone's saying
- 6:56Speaker 1: their favorite album is Crazy Life, and we were sampling
- 6:58Speaker 1: everything that get my hand with breakbeats.
- 7:01Speaker 2: And right now, that's why he's like, dude, we just
- 7:02Speaker 2: drop it and like if we hear about it, it
- 7:05Speaker 2: means music's doing well.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah for sure.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Yeah, so you clear it later? Yeah, yeah, you know
- 7:10Speaker 3: what I mean, yeah, talk about for you, man, how
- 7:15Speaker 3: dope has it kind of been to? Like when?
- 7:18Speaker 2: Because I feel like when you and I got into
- 7:21Speaker 2: radio in two thousand and five, and I think the
- 7:24Speaker 2: first time I might have saw you live is maybe
- 7:26Speaker 2: like six or seven.
- 7:27Speaker 3: But I was like.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Working at a radio station in Phoenix when Neighborhood Music
- 7:31Speaker 2: like popped off, like that ship was like a real wave.
- 7:33Speaker 2: It was like that you had the song Neighborhood Music. Yea, yeah, yeah,
- 7:38Speaker 2: you had to bring out the freaking you. Trying to
- 7:42Speaker 2: think of all your radio singles that we played, those
- 7:45Speaker 2: are the ones that come to my mind.
- 7:47Speaker 1: We're better to getting by the god on the radio.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Barely getting by. It was dope for sure, for sure.
- 7:52Speaker 2: And then obviously summer nights is summer nights. But at
- 7:55Speaker 2: that same time Magic had sexy Lady and obviously and
- 7:58Speaker 2: be righters head.
- 8:00Speaker 3: What they were doing. Is it dope to kind of
- 8:02Speaker 3: be able to.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Like like be side by side with a guy like
- 8:05Speaker 2: Magic and be like, look how far we've come, Like
- 8:08Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, we go way back too, man, We've
- 8:10Speaker 1: been in San Diego. Because I believe he wanted to
- 8:12Speaker 1: sign me at one point or something like that.
- 8:15Speaker 3: He wanted to sign you.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so, yeah, yeah, I think so, I
- 8:17Speaker 1: didn't work together and stuff, and I end up working
- 8:19Speaker 1: with the same label and we ended up Upstairs things
- 8:22Speaker 1: out yea Upstairs Records.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean Upstairs Records had everybody.
- 8:27Speaker 1: So then we uh, you know, I would go out
- 8:29Speaker 1: to uh. I went to Phoenix to work with with
- 8:31Speaker 1: Magic and we did California and City everyone knows. So yeah,
- 8:36Speaker 1: we worked together from the get go.
- 8:38Speaker 2: And then obviously even like a guy like baby Bash
- 8:40Speaker 2: who's kind of turned into everyone's favorite, like high uncle.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:45Speaker 1: I was just saying, man, I was on the way here,
- 8:46Speaker 1: I was running a little bit late, and I was
- 8:47Speaker 1: dressing not a little bit. So I started puffing on
- 8:49Speaker 1: the joint that the Bash's team gave me, so that
- 8:53Speaker 1: cherry waves. So yeah, I shout out to you Weed.
- 8:56Speaker 3: You gotta you just gotta make sure, you know, oh yeah, yeah,
- 8:59Speaker 3: I don't know that you got a few. You got
- 9:01Speaker 3: a few hours to yourself, you know.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, for sure, for sure.
- 9:04Speaker 3: So you're high right now.
- 9:05Speaker 1: That's a little a little bit good. A couple of
- 9:07Speaker 1: buffs and that's it.
- 9:08Speaker 2: What's your biggest market these days? Like, what do you
- 9:10Speaker 2: know is like that one market? Like no matter what
- 9:12Speaker 2: they're showing out for you?
- 9:13Speaker 1: Well, I say, I would say Los Angeles man, And
- 9:15Speaker 1: it's so big too where you guys you could do
- 9:16Speaker 1: a show over here and over here and over there,
- 9:18Speaker 1: and yeah you can do like you still rock.
- 9:19Speaker 3: There's so many little areas in l A.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, sure, rocket for me, man. So even that
- 9:23Speaker 1: with you know, hooking up with the step On for
- 9:25Speaker 1: this video and everything almost like showing love to to
- 9:28Speaker 1: La too, you.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Know, yeah, of course he's a legend.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, for sure, man. And uh, you know talking
- 9:33Speaker 1: about getting stuck like like like it's a Friday, you
- 9:37Speaker 1: know in traffic in l A. You know what I mean?
- 9:39Speaker 1: And you don't want to get stuck in life?
- 9:41Speaker 3: Did he directed did a new video?
- 9:43Speaker 1: Oh? Yeah, he directed the new video? Yeah?
- 9:44Speaker 3: Did you watch his Netflix documentary that? Yeah? A cartoon
- 9:48Speaker 3: that was sick?
- 9:48Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah that cartoon? Did these for me? Man?
- 9:52Speaker 3: Did the twelve eighteen? Yeah? That's how much was that?
- 9:55Speaker 3: What did he did? He hit you? Like? Peak? Mister?
- 9:58Speaker 3: Cartoon prices for those U?
- 10:00Speaker 1: I don't remember? Man? I think we were just chilling
- 10:02Speaker 1: and listening to some oldies and having a couple of beers.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Like back then, mister Cartoon could charged anything for attaching rappers.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Would have been like, yeah, no, I think I think
- 10:10Speaker 1: he hooked me up pretty nicely. Man. It was dope.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Thank you for shout out to cartoon.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Shout out to mister Cartoon.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I been a minute, been a minute for sure.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Step I shot the cover for Neighborhood Music.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Damn, that's crazy.
- 10:22Speaker 1: I shot that. So that's back in two thousand and four. Man. Wow,
- 10:25Speaker 1: so we go way back to you know, way back.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Are you aware that like people kind of look at
- 10:30Speaker 2: you as like kind of like the the j Z
- 10:32Speaker 2: of Chicano rap. Do you like understand that like that's
- 10:35Speaker 2: because whenever we think about Chicano rap, like you were
- 10:38Speaker 2: the god of it.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Man.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I mean I hear it, man, But you
- 10:41Speaker 1: know it's just always just like going to the studio
- 10:44Speaker 1: and doing my thing. Man. So that part doesn't really doesn't.
- 10:48Speaker 3: The noise and all the like extra shit doesn't really
- 10:50Speaker 3: come across.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Your radar, not really, man. I mean it does, it
- 10:52Speaker 1: comes across my radar, but I don't really like it's
- 10:55Speaker 1: kind of like deflected, kind of like a little bit
- 10:57Speaker 1: because it doesn't make it doesn't do me. Oh no,
- 11:00Speaker 1: I got no opinion on it. You know. Yeah, that's
- 11:03Speaker 1: a trip though, But I don't look at myself like that,
- 11:05Speaker 1: and I just kind of like and I think maybe
- 11:07Speaker 1: that's why the people dig what I'm doing. I don't know,
- 11:10Speaker 1: It's kind.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Of works, right, I always wonder coming from San Diego,
- 11:13Speaker 2: there's kind of like a weird like rivalry.
- 11:15Speaker 3: Between San Diego and La.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 11:17Speaker 2: But and same thing with Phoenix, Like Phoenix in La
- 11:19Speaker 2: has this big rivalry, especially when it comes to sports,
- 11:21Speaker 2: but like La is like always embraced you, always embraced
- 11:26Speaker 2: magic in such a crazy way for you, Like was
- 11:29Speaker 2: it a little harder for you to be a guy
- 11:31Speaker 2: from San Diego and break like up top in La
- 11:34Speaker 2: or was it like pretty easy just because of what
- 11:36Speaker 2: you were doing?
- 11:37Speaker 1: Yeah? I think it was pretty easy just because of
- 11:38Speaker 1: what I was doing, you know.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:40Speaker 1: But a big part of me when I first started
- 11:42Speaker 1: was a big shout out to Spanish Flight from the
- 11:44Speaker 1: Harbor area. I would listen to them man and always
- 11:48Speaker 1: doug what they were doing with the oldie samples and everything. So,
- 11:52Speaker 1: I mean that's kind of like where I started as so,
- 11:54Speaker 1: you know, big shout out to I was just in
- 11:56Speaker 1: La music all ready too, you know. Yeah, but this
- 11:59Speaker 1: is way back in them like ninety ninety that like
- 12:02Speaker 1: ninety or something.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Like that when the Chargers moved to La. Are you
- 12:06Speaker 2: still like a Charger fan?
- 12:07Speaker 1: Now? I pretty much stop watching football, man. You were
- 12:10Speaker 1: just like when it was over, when it was San
- 12:11Speaker 1: Diego Chargers, that was one thing, you know, Chargers, then
- 12:15Speaker 1: you got you know, you got other teams lit the
- 12:16Speaker 1: Los Angeles.
- 12:17Speaker 3: I don't I just be so heartbroken.
- 12:18Speaker 2: I couldn't imagine like my football team leaving to like
- 12:21Speaker 2: a different city.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Yeah. Well luckily I wasn't into it that much to
- 12:24Speaker 1: be like heartbroken, right right right, okay, Farista whatever. So
- 12:27Speaker 1: now now I just yeah, I don't.
- 12:28Speaker 3: Have Padres much.
- 12:29Speaker 1: It's there the padres man who.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Has the best Mexican food San Diego or La.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Yo.
- 12:35Speaker 2: We got to stop the interview again and tell you
- 12:36Speaker 2: about our folks at odd Socks, Baby, that's right, shot
- 12:39Speaker 2: to odd Socks Man, the most comfortable socks in the world.

- 15:09Speaker 1: I don't know, but I'm like a taco shop type
- 15:10Speaker 1: of dude, like the San Diego taco shops, you know.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I always tell everybody the best Mexican food. I
- 15:17Speaker 2: always look at proximity to the border. San Diego has
- 15:19Speaker 2: got the best Mexican food in my opinion. I don't
- 15:22Speaker 2: think it's close. And then it's La and other place.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Yeah that was I always say San Diego's number one.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Though I would say that too, But like I said,
- 15:31Speaker 1: I never I never ate it everywhere, you know what
- 15:33Speaker 1: I mean. So I don't know, you know, if I
- 15:35Speaker 1: didn't hit the right place in that later or something
- 15:36Speaker 1: like that, you know, yeah, I just like blame all
- 15:39Speaker 1: that later or something, you know, and.
- 15:40Speaker 3: The best food I've ever eaten is in Tijuana.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Tijuana has the best fucking seafood I've ever had in
- 15:46Speaker 2: my life yet, Man, do you ever like, do you
- 15:48Speaker 2: make it over there to get like that?
- 15:49Speaker 1: I haven't been over there for a long time.
- 15:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:51Speaker 1: I used to go to TJ when I was like sixteen.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I go, I don't have health insurance, IALK go
- 15:56Speaker 2: over there and get like you know, oh yeah, see
- 15:57Speaker 2: the dentists.
- 15:58Speaker 1: I used to go down there. Man, when of my
- 15:59Speaker 1: first record came out over the nine and sixty or
- 16:01Speaker 1: nine and in Mexican Gangsters. That was in ninety two,
- 16:04Speaker 1: and I was out there outside of and you know,
- 16:08Speaker 1: passing on my my records back then.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Sixteen years old in TJ. Passed your CD.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Yeah, my brother and then went up. I went up
- 16:15Speaker 1: into the show because there was I don't know, I
- 16:18Speaker 1: feel I was performing that night. It was good fro
- 16:20Speaker 1: Us and I don't know, I don't know who it was,
- 16:23Speaker 1: but they all went in and I was too young
- 16:24Speaker 1: to wanted to let me him all my albums.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Man, damn. So your first album was ninety two.
- 16:30Speaker 1: My first it's a single, but just first songs.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Yeah, so first time you actually released any musically anything
- 16:37Speaker 2: ninety two Man, that's crazy casette tape in the record longevity.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Man.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I'm saying, man, And you can't I mean,
- 16:45Speaker 1: I couldn't plan for it. It's kind of happened that way,
- 16:47Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, but I appreciate it and everything.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Man, So what would be like and everything you said
- 16:52Speaker 2: earlier that you know, you kind of went through your
- 16:53Speaker 2: spouts with the not showing up the shows and maybe
- 16:56Speaker 2: taking advantage of.
- 16:57Speaker 3: The ship a little bit.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 16:58Speaker 3: For any young up and coming artists.
- 17:01Speaker 2: For you know, you've obviously kind of made mistakes that
- 17:04Speaker 2: you know, maybe they can learn from. What would be
- 17:06Speaker 2: some things you would you would advise them?
- 17:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I made mistakes that I could learn from or
- 17:10Speaker 1: that I learned from, and other people's made mistakes towards
- 17:13Speaker 1: me that that I've learned from, you know what I mean.
- 17:15Speaker 1: So it's you know, never step on nobody's toes. Don't
- 17:18Speaker 1: burn no bridges because you never know. Man, be humble,
- 17:22Speaker 1: but either you are humble that you're not, you know
- 17:24Speaker 1: what I mean. So you can't act like you're humble.
- 17:26Speaker 1: You know, it's either you are or not. So and
- 17:30Speaker 1: just never never burned nobody. Man. You just never know, man, you.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Know, yeah, yeah, never burn a bridge.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Very keep the word and everything, man, I always keep
- 17:38Speaker 1: the word, you know.
- 17:40Speaker 2: And you're you were You came early today and I
- 17:42Speaker 2: was late, so you know, you know, and we're doing
- 17:45Speaker 2: this in the morning.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, no, offic sure it.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Was not very farm last night till two in the morning.
- 17:49Speaker 1: So yeah, just doing from Vegas last night. Yeah, and
- 17:52Speaker 1: then went to go eat over here mama.
- 17:53Speaker 3: But how Vegas is always a movie?
- 17:57Speaker 1: Yeah, that was Dope at the House of Blues.
- 17:59Speaker 2: No, no, they was it you Magic Bash with someone
- 18:03Speaker 2: else on Magic Bash, Jay Rocks.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Tried to Jay Rock. She's got a beautiful voice.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I forget a couple of others. But yeah, with
- 18:12Speaker 1: the film, Marie.
- 18:13Speaker 3: You guys are doing so many shows together.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Have you ever considered doing like a best of both
- 18:17Speaker 2: worlds or like a West Side Connection type of album
- 18:22Speaker 2: where it's like you Bash and Magic and maybe it's
- 18:24Speaker 2: like ten songs.
- 18:25Speaker 1: I was talking about doing some jazz, you know, that
- 18:27Speaker 1: would be coral. We did a couple of games already,
- 18:29Speaker 1: me and Me and Magic and uh, we have one
- 18:31Speaker 1: that's coming out on a Magic's album.
- 18:33Speaker 2: I guess, well, you guys that did a record like
- 18:35Speaker 2: three or four years ago with that what's that his name?
- 18:38Speaker 3: Cucko? I was gonna say Koku ship, but that song
- 18:41Speaker 3: was fucking raw.
- 18:42Speaker 1: That went pretty big, man.
- 18:43Speaker 3: So that song was that was a beautiful song. Yeah, man,
- 18:46Speaker 3: that dude's sick.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Yeah, he's got a beautiful voice.
- 18:49Speaker 1: And that's the thing too, man. I was doing this
- 18:51Speaker 1: one for Jay Rocks, did something for Spanish Fly I
- 18:54Speaker 1: stick Tribe a little leaf from San Diego. Else uh
- 19:00Speaker 1: uh I throw Prestigio did one for them to check
- 19:05Speaker 1: it out. That's a good one, man to a banda
- 19:06Speaker 1: you know, So shout out to you guys too, man.
- 19:10Speaker 3: But uh, I just got hip to a new dude
- 19:12Speaker 3: from San Diego. Have you heard of him? I think
- 19:13Speaker 3: his name is Little Weirdo. Have you heard of him?
- 19:16Speaker 1: I heard of him.
- 19:17Speaker 3: Yeah, he's pretty dope.
- 19:17Speaker 1: That's good. He's good.
- 19:19Speaker 2: And then there's a god damn it, I can't think
- 19:22Speaker 2: of the kid's name. What's the kid's name from Ocean
- 19:24Speaker 2: Side that's doing the old.
- 19:25Speaker 1: School hollow hollow great guy, yeah, very cool man. So
- 19:30Speaker 1: I liked what he was doing, so hit the mouth.
- 19:31Speaker 1: But I've done so many features lately where I thought
- 19:34Speaker 1: maybe it was just time to do my own, you
- 19:35Speaker 1: know what I mean.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Yeah, he's dope, man. I like how he's kind of
- 19:38Speaker 2: bringing back that like g funk and he's younger, like
- 19:42Speaker 2: he's like he's just like paying homage and he's doing
- 19:44Speaker 2: it in like a great way and super dope for sure.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Shot to ocean Side, man, for sure, seven six zero
- 19:50Speaker 1: in the house.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Ocean Side is like a place you drive through on
- 19:52Speaker 2: your way to San Diego, but you don't realize if
- 19:54Speaker 2: you just get off the freeway, it's fucking gorgeous.
- 19:55Speaker 1: I'll be driving through tomorrow.
- 19:57Speaker 2: What is your chemistry like these days with a guy
- 19:59Speaker 2: like Fingers because finger for people who don't know he
- 20:01Speaker 2: had a run like Fingers.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Really everyone that goes the Fingers man got to good
- 20:05Speaker 1: get some good jams man. So I already knew that
- 20:06Speaker 1: he was a person that I needed to go see.
- 20:09Speaker 3: So he's mainly handling. Is it all the production or
- 20:11Speaker 3: a lot of the production on this?
- 20:13Speaker 1: All of it?
- 20:13Speaker 3: All of it, all of it. Man, that's dope.
- 20:15Speaker 2: That's I like that too, Like in hip hop or
- 20:17Speaker 2: people like lock in with One producer because I feel
- 20:20Speaker 2: like it always makes the albums better.
- 20:22Speaker 1: It needs clean and he helps we write the hooks
- 20:24Speaker 1: and everything. Man, and I go whenever we knot get
- 20:26Speaker 1: out real quick, and then it will add his favorite
- 20:28Speaker 1: to it, and it's it's all to the good, you know.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Yeah, are you guys gonna are you gonna put it
- 20:33Speaker 2: out and just see how the fans react?
- 20:35Speaker 3: Are you going to go to radio with this? Or
- 20:36Speaker 3: like what's what's kind of the.
- 20:37Speaker 1: We got a plan going on, man, which you know,
- 20:39Speaker 1: I wasn't really ready for either, man, because at first
- 20:41Speaker 1: I was gonna throw it out just for the people,
- 20:43Speaker 1: you know. So now we're here doing you know, the
- 20:45Speaker 1: podcast thing and just doing little interviews here and there
- 20:47Speaker 1: and just doing it because this is what we do,
- 20:50Speaker 1: you know what I mean. And so yeah, we're gonna
- 20:53Speaker 1: put it out hopefully that the people love it. Man, spumping,
- 20:55Speaker 1: that's some of my favorite favorite things I put together
- 20:58Speaker 1: in a long time.
- 20:59Speaker 3: How long did it's get to record?
- 21:01Speaker 1: Uh? Just three sessions? We did three sessions and eleven
- 21:04Speaker 1: songs real quick, man, you know, ship y'all work quick? Yeah, Well,
- 21:07Speaker 1: I get my stuff already ready in my head and everything.
- 21:09Speaker 1: So when I go to the studio, don't.
- 21:10Speaker 2: We already have to be You know, it's crazy because
- 21:12Speaker 2: the new rappers don't do that no more. They just
- 21:13Speaker 2: show to the studio. They play like ten beats and
- 21:15Speaker 2: then they start humming. Yeah, and I could do that too,
- 21:19Speaker 2: but so you like to get the beats, have everything
- 21:22Speaker 2: ready so when you get in, we're on business. I'm
- 21:24Speaker 2: ready to record. I already got.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Going and everything's ready to go. And I put thought
- 21:27Speaker 1: into my rhymes and you know, make sure they put
- 21:29Speaker 1: together when I'm spin them right and all that have you.
- 21:33Speaker 3: How many people have little rob tattoos in the world.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Right now, I don't know, but I've seen a couple.
- 21:37Speaker 3: But yeah, I've seen some. Yeah, yeah, that's got to be.
- 21:41Speaker 1: My autograph on on their skin or whatever, or just
- 21:44Speaker 1: portraits to im.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Say, if someone has a portrait of your face on
- 21:47Speaker 2: them and they come up to you, that's got to
- 21:48Speaker 2: be cool but also a little startling.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's cool. Well, one chick wanted me to
- 21:55Speaker 1: right on their face, you know what I mean. But
- 21:57Speaker 1: I don't want to do that.
- 21:58Speaker 3: I would have been like listening, listen.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Thank you, yeah, yeah, thank you, But nah, you don't
- 22:04Speaker 2: you don't want to ruin your life.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's crazy.
- 22:08Speaker 2: It's crazy just walking around with a little rock tattoo
- 22:11Speaker 2: on your face going to job interviews and Ship explained it.
- 22:14Speaker 1: I don't understand, but that's cool, you know.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Yeah, like you guys don't know a little rob this
- 22:18Speaker 2: is yeah what what where's the like?
- 22:21Speaker 3: Like the portrait.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Ship's got to be pretty gnarly though, Like do you
- 22:23Speaker 2: like take their information and say, hey, I'm going to
- 22:26Speaker 2: like get you into the show, or or you just
- 22:29Speaker 2: like hey, thank you.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Uh that kind of reposted on my story and yeah,
- 22:33Speaker 1: so I never really thought about if I do a show,
- 22:35Speaker 1: but maybe that's a good idea. You know.
- 22:37Speaker 2: I feel like if someone gets there your face tattooed
- 22:39Speaker 2: on them, they should get into the show.

- 30:57Speaker 1: out having fun, you know what I mean, and just
- 30:59Speaker 1: probably or even wanting to see me still, you know
- 31:01Speaker 1: what I mean.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Yeah, making timeless music is important because you can you
- 31:05Speaker 2: can turn that into like long real longevity.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, for sure, because a.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Lot of people can't do how many however many shows
- 31:11Speaker 2: a year you guys are doing.

- 31:32Speaker 2: to any EMC Magic show even uh, I want to say,
- 31:37Speaker 2: even when you were performing, he's standing on the side
- 31:40Speaker 2: of the stage running the show with his son.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Oh yeah yeah.
- 31:43Speaker 2: Yeah, Like Magic's just standing there. There's the graphics and
- 31:47Speaker 2: like him and his kid are like handling everything.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Yeah, it's crazy. Yeah, for sure. I got the whole family.
- 31:52Speaker 1: That's a family affair thing going on, man. And you know,

- 32:26Speaker 1: carrying them out. I did summer nights and everything. And
- 32:28Speaker 1: then I put him down. He started rocking the mic
- 32:30Speaker 1: by himself and okay, so that's that's way cool.
