- 0:25Speaker 1: All right, you're listening to Opposition Territory here at the
- 0:27Speaker 1: Philadelphia Sports Table podcast show, the longest running weekly Philly
- 0:31Speaker 1: sports podcast show in the world, over twelve and a
- 0:34Speaker 1: half years strong. We've got a great, great Eagles Commander's
- 0:38Speaker 1: preview pod coming your way this week. We've got our
- 0:41Speaker 1: good friend joining us who covers the Commanders over on
- 0:44Speaker 1: his podcast, The Trap or Dive Podcast. We've got the
- 0:48Speaker 1: one and only Jamal Forrest, good friend of the show,
- 0:50Speaker 1: my friend, Thank you so much for joining us this
- 0:52Speaker 1: week here.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Appreciate you, Jeff, Appreciate your patience. You know, it took
- 0:56Speaker 2: us a little a few days to get this gone.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Well good as long as we can talk some about absolutely.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Look this, it's been such a bizarre season for both
- 1:05Speaker 1: the teams that you know are near and dear to us,
- 1:08Speaker 1: you know, you being a Commander's fan, you you know,
- 1:10Speaker 1: talking about the Commanders talking about their season and trying
- 1:15Speaker 1: to dissect what has happened to this team and frankly
- 1:18Speaker 1: US Eagles fans trying to figure out what the hell
- 1:20Speaker 1: has happened with this offense. It's just such an up
- 1:23Speaker 1: and down season for both for both teams, really, especially
- 1:26Speaker 1: for the Eagles in terms of the up part, up
- 1:28Speaker 1: and down all over the place. And the last time
- 1:30Speaker 1: the Eagles and the Commanders met, both teams are in
- 1:33Speaker 1: the NFC Championship Game. Last year, things were very different
- 1:36Speaker 1: with both teams in a number of ways. And yes,
- 1:39Speaker 1: I know this Eagles team is poised to win the
- 1:42Speaker 1: NFC East potentially, and they could seal it with this
- 1:45Speaker 1: win against the Commanders this weekend. But I can see
- 1:48Speaker 1: the Commanders, perhaps Jamal trying to play spoiler against the Eagles,
- 1:53Speaker 1: or perhaps at this point in the season, maybe the
- 1:55Speaker 1: Commanders coaches in front officer really wanting to figure out
- 1:58Speaker 1: what they have on offense and d fence as they
- 2:00Speaker 1: look towards next year and the future. What are your
- 2:04Speaker 1: thoughts on how the Commanders are really going to approach
- 2:07Speaker 1: this game from an overall perspective.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Well, they've been trying. They've been trying for months to
- 2:15Speaker 2: to win, like like they've never mailed it in. They
- 2:19Speaker 2: just they just can't win. Yeah, And I think nothing's
- 2:22Speaker 2: nothing's changed. I think the last three games of the season,
- 2:26Speaker 2: it's it's all about like the keeping the standard. And
- 2:34Speaker 2: I say that from from the standpoint of the coaches
- 2:36Speaker 2: like they have this standard that they want every player
- 2:39Speaker 2: in that building, every staff member in that building to meet,
- 2:42Speaker 2: and it's all about high level competition and competing and
- 2:45Speaker 2: if you don't, if you don't fit the mode, then
- 2:47Speaker 2: you're not going to see the field anyway. And I
- 2:50Speaker 2: think for any player that is on that field, they're
- 2:57Speaker 2: gonna give their all. Uh. I know. Like there's also
- 3:00Speaker 2: half the team is about to be free agents next year,
- 3:03Speaker 2: like literally half of them.
- 3:04Speaker 1: So that's why I asked about like whether or not
- 3:06Speaker 1: the coaches might actually be evaluating and looking at who
- 3:09Speaker 1: they might want to keep around for the future. And
- 3:11Speaker 1: I wonder if these next few games, like that's really
- 3:13Speaker 1: going to be the m O of the team.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, well it's and that's that's kind of
- 3:19Speaker 2: where I'm getting, Like the last couple of weeks, and
- 3:21Speaker 2: even before that, it's all it's been that like since
- 3:24Speaker 2: it's since things have gone downhill, like they they've been
- 3:27Speaker 2: trying to find answers, and you know, I think injury
- 3:31Speaker 2: sometimes influenced their decision making because like without an injury,
- 3:35Speaker 2: you don't find somebody. For example, Marshon Lattimore getting hurt
- 3:40Speaker 2: and then Trey Amill's getting hurt. Without those two getting hurt,
- 3:44Speaker 2: you know, you may not see Mike Sandmers still on
- 3:46Speaker 2: the outside. Yeah, they've been plugging him, forcing him to
- 3:49Speaker 2: play at slot the entire season. Uh, and it's clear
- 3:52Speaker 2: that it just didn't work out for him. Yep, and
- 3:56Speaker 2: and other things of that nature. When you think about offensively,
- 4:02Speaker 2: zach Ertz just got hurt. So Ben Sinnen's getting somewhat
- 4:05Speaker 2: of a little bit more time, all right. So like,
- 4:08Speaker 2: and it's not to say that because these injuries happen,
- 4:12Speaker 2: thankfully somebody else is playing where they should be or
- 4:15Speaker 2: getting more time. It's more so like happenstance, unfortunate circumstances
- 4:19Speaker 2: have puts these people in positions where they can probably
- 4:22Speaker 2: get more light. And and so I think these last
- 4:26Speaker 2: three games, it's not gonna be no different than the
- 4:29Speaker 2: last couple last few weeks. They're gonna come out there
- 4:32Speaker 2: and and try to get the win. It doesn't matter
- 4:35Speaker 2: what their record is at this point. And it's the
- 4:38Speaker 2: same reason why they haven't shut Terry down or they
- 4:41Speaker 2: haven't shut Debo down. Laramie's gonna be He's gonna miss
- 4:44Speaker 2: this game this week because he's hurt, but he hasn't
- 4:46Speaker 2: been ruled out for the season. Going to try to
- 4:48Speaker 2: swing back next week if he's healthy.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Look, at the end of the day, these are all
- 4:52Speaker 1: professional football players and they want to make their mark
- 4:55Speaker 1: in some way, shape or form. And it's it's a
- 4:58Speaker 1: good segue into next topic because on our opposition territory
- 5:01Speaker 1: shows we'd love to get in the strengths and weaknesses
- 5:04Speaker 1: of each team. Again, end of the day, these are
- 5:06Speaker 1: professional football players and each team, each team in the
- 5:09Speaker 1: NFL has strengths and they have weaknesses. So let's go
- 5:13Speaker 1: through this first. What do you think the biggest strength
- 5:15Speaker 1: of this commander's team is going to be? As we're
- 5:17Speaker 1: heading into week sixteen of the season here.
- 5:22Speaker 2: For those who are listening to the audio, I scoffed
- 5:25Speaker 2: at the question.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Great, like, oh man, I just don't know what to say.
- 5:35Speaker 2: It's so much that is that has gone down. There
- 5:38Speaker 2: is an answer, but I mean, and it's a real answer,
- 5:42Speaker 2: but you know it could have been so much more
- 5:44Speaker 2: if you know, things turned out differently this season. The
- 5:48Speaker 2: offensive line has been the strength of this team or
- 5:52Speaker 2: I mean, honestly, the entire season, and it's not a
- 5:55Speaker 2: de fact those strength. I mean technically, obviously quarterback would
- 5:58Speaker 2: be one it Jayden was healthy, but still like a
- 6:01Speaker 2: unit in the offensive line has dramatically improved since Laramie
- 6:05Speaker 2: Tunsel has come on board. Even Brandon Coleman, who was
- 6:09Speaker 2: a starter at left guard to start the season, got
- 6:11Speaker 2: benched after two games when he had spot duty for
- 6:15Speaker 2: Laramie Tunsels. He's got nicked and bruised a couple of
- 6:18Speaker 2: times this season throughout some games. Brandon Coleman comes at
- 6:21Speaker 2: a left tackle, he holds the four. He does a
- 6:23Speaker 2: good job at left tackle, and he's going to get
- 6:25Speaker 2: a full start this week at left tackle since Laramie's out.
- 6:29Speaker 2: But that offensive line, man, it's been it's been real solid.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Pass protection has been on point. I mean, the rookie
- 6:36Speaker 2: has been one of the major concerns throughout this season.
- 6:39Speaker 2: And I think the way I the way I looked
- 6:42Speaker 2: at it, Jeff is like personally, I don't I don't
- 6:50Speaker 2: appreciate where he's at in terms of like his technique
- 6:53Speaker 2: and all those things, like it's the reason why he
- 6:55Speaker 2: continues to get beat But like stats will tell you
- 7:00Speaker 2: you and it's true, but stats will tell you like
- 7:01Speaker 2: he's not giving up pressures or sacks and it hasn't
- 7:05Speaker 2: happened in some time or it's like infrequent now right
- 7:08Speaker 2: as opposed to win it was super frequent early on
- 7:10Speaker 2: in the season.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Seems like he's developing. He seems like he's actually developing.
- 7:16Speaker 2: He's really good. He's impressive in the run. In the
- 7:19Speaker 2: run game. That's always been the case. Is more so
- 7:21Speaker 2: past protection. So like run game, I give that to him.
- 7:25Speaker 2: He's a solid run blocker. But he's just gonna win ugly.
- 7:29Speaker 2: And that's what that's what it came down to for
- 7:31Speaker 2: in terms of me rational like trying to rationalize him
- 7:34Speaker 2: in the past game. Until he gets his technique right,
- 7:37Speaker 2: it's just gonna look ugly. And you just got to
- 7:40Speaker 2: hope when he's winning ugly like that, he doesn't get
- 7:45Speaker 2: the quarterback killed. That's that's all.
- 7:46Speaker 4: That's that's literally it. I don't have much to say
- 7:50Speaker 4: for work is it's kind of the biggest thing. He
- 7:52Speaker 4: stops his feet sometimes when he's in his slide protection,
- 7:54Speaker 4: trying to be the set points to match these guys
- 7:57Speaker 4: sometimes quickness. He's having a hard time game gin where
- 8:01Speaker 4: to cut that defender off, like meeting that half man
- 8:03Speaker 4: establishing that half man relationship, like things of that nature
- 8:07Speaker 4: is what really getting in troubles that lower half. And
- 8:11Speaker 4: obviously like his anchoring when he has to go up
- 8:13Speaker 4: against like speed to power rushers, people who want to
- 8:15Speaker 4: like really just run through them. Yeah, so's But.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Yeah, it's funny we're talking about him when we're talking
- 8:22Speaker 1: about the biggest strengths of this team. But yes, it
- 8:24Speaker 1: is the offensive line. I completely agree with you, flip
- 8:27Speaker 1: side of the coin. What's the biggest weakness on this team?
- 8:30Speaker 1: There's there's definitely a few, for sure, but you know,
- 8:33Speaker 1: you you really hone in on you know what this
- 8:35Speaker 1: team has, you know, in terms of its talent and
- 8:38Speaker 1: what we've seen this season. What's that weakness on this
- 8:40Speaker 1: commander's team biggest weakness?
- 8:46Speaker 3: I love it, folks.
- 8:47Speaker 1: If you're watching on YouTube, Paul's just thinking, He's like,
- 8:50Speaker 1: I just don't know which one to go.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like it's it's three layers. It's like three level,
- 8:57Speaker 2: all three levels of the defensive line. Man, they all
- 8:59Speaker 2: have their they all bear their their weaknesses. You don't
- 9:02Speaker 2: we don't have a pass rusher since the pass now
- 9:05Speaker 2: Von Miller has seven sacks in the season, he's playing
- 9:07Speaker 2: like thirty percent of the steps, right, He's not like
- 9:09Speaker 2: actively out there every single down or majority of the steps. Right.
- 9:12Speaker 2: He comes in when he has too. He gets his
- 9:14Speaker 2: he gets his pressures, he goes, he goes back to
- 9:16Speaker 2: the bench, and he talked, he talks is he talks
- 9:19Speaker 2: his ish. I don't know if I can crush, So yeah,
- 9:22Speaker 2: he comes. That's how he's just like the mercenary in
- 9:25Speaker 2: a sense, right. But outside of that, Jake Martin is
- 9:30Speaker 2: good too, like individually, but like they aren't guys that
- 9:33Speaker 2: you are playing majority of the downs, so they just
- 9:37Speaker 2: come in and out occasionally. You don't have a pass
- 9:39Speaker 2: rusher right now. And dron Payin, ironically enough has been
- 9:41Speaker 2: the healthiest. Like where's the interior pass rush? Don't really
- 9:44Speaker 2: got it. Javon keinlong has been he's he was good
- 9:47Speaker 2: early on and now it's like it's been super quiet
- 9:51Speaker 2: on his end. Right. And I think from a second
- 9:55Speaker 2: level standpoint, you got linebackers who are solid against the run,
- 9:59Speaker 2: but you ain't got a lick of you got a
- 10:01Speaker 2: single linebacker who you can trust in past coverage. The
- 10:05Speaker 2: only turnover that you're really forcing the in the as
- 10:08Speaker 2: a pack in past coverage both Knicks had to throw
- 10:11Speaker 2: it right to Bobby Wagner and luckily he caught. The
- 10:14Speaker 2: past secondary just miscommunication issues like communica or communication issues
- 10:21Speaker 2: like you don't have people and that's in that secondary
- 10:24Speaker 2: who is really on the same page all the time,
- 10:27Speaker 2: and that leads to the bus to coverages. Uh, it's
- 10:30Speaker 2: been cleaned up a little bit now since Will Harris,
- 10:33Speaker 2: the state the safety, the original starting safety, has come back.
- 10:37Speaker 2: He came back I think against what do we play
- 10:41Speaker 2: after Miami? Yeah, forget we played after Miami. That's when
- 10:49Speaker 2: that's when Little Harris came back. So like things that
- 10:52Speaker 2: have kind of dipped in terms of like coverage bus
- 10:55Speaker 2: and that standpoint, there's a difference between talent and coverage bus. Right,
- 10:58Speaker 2: So like talent wise, you've been you know, sometimes you
- 11:01Speaker 2: just don't got the horses, and they haven't essentially had
- 11:04Speaker 2: the horses for a long time. Yeah, but from a
- 11:07Speaker 2: communication standpoint, they're they're there, but you know, you ain't
- 11:12Speaker 2: got your tilent from these injuries.
- 11:13Speaker 3: You know exactly exactly.
- 11:17Speaker 1: When the depth is not there, The depth is not there,
- 11:20Speaker 1: and it's like that for every NFL team, I mean
- 11:21Speaker 1: not every NFL team has a tremendous amount of depth
- 11:24Speaker 1: when injuries are really plaguing a team, whether it's offensively
- 11:27Speaker 1: or defensively. So I mean, as as I look at
- 11:30Speaker 1: what this matchup actually might be this week too, you know,
- 11:34Speaker 1: you're talking about the Commander's defense and all the struggles there.
- 11:39Speaker 1: On the flip side of things with the Eagles, the
- 11:41Speaker 1: Eagles defense is running on all cylinders at this point. Yes,
- 11:44Speaker 1: they played a very lowly weak Raiders team this past week,
- 11:49Speaker 1: but again, you know, I, like I said on our
- 11:51Speaker 1: post game show, the Raiders, these guys there are professional
- 11:55Speaker 1: football players, just like guys and the Commanders. They're professional
- 11:58Speaker 1: football players, and this Eagles defense held them to seventy
- 12:03Speaker 1: two net yards in that game, which is pretty astonishing
- 12:07Speaker 1: zero points as well. I'm just like, I'm just wondering, Jabal,
- 12:10Speaker 1: how might the Commander's offense actually try to go into
- 12:14Speaker 1: battle and really try to maybe dissect this Eagles defense.
- 12:17Speaker 1: I'm not sure if it's possible, to be perfectly honest
- 12:20Speaker 1: with you, but do you see any scenario in which
- 12:23Speaker 1: that case may actually happen?
- 12:26Speaker 2: Well, I mean I don't. I think comparatively speaking, we're
- 12:30Speaker 2: just drastically better than the Raiders.
- 12:33Speaker 3: Absolutely, I agree. Yeah, I think.
- 12:35Speaker 2: When you look at that from that standpoint, they don't
- 12:38Speaker 2: have offensive line Washington does. Ashton jen Z is a
- 12:42Speaker 2: solid running back, and if he was on Washington's offense,
- 12:45Speaker 2: I'm sure like he would look drastically better. But I
- 12:49Speaker 2: mean Washington. I say that to say Washington has solid
- 12:52Speaker 2: running backs in that backfield, and I think establishing that
- 12:58Speaker 2: run game is going to be most important for Washington.
- 13:00Speaker 2: I think there's been time straut the season where that's
- 13:03Speaker 2: where Washington, That's where Philadelphia has really like lost control defensively.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Is like if you if you can get a ground
- 13:12Speaker 2: game established against these guys, and and so that's probably
- 13:16Speaker 2: gonna be Washington's focal point. It should be Washington's focal point.
- 13:20Speaker 2: But then you think about, uh, Terry and and Deebo.
- 13:26Speaker 2: You know that connection or that duo. Uh you know,
- 13:30Speaker 2: it's it leads you once it more. It's not super explosive.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Uh they had or or They had their most explosive
- 13:39Speaker 2: day ironically against one of the league's top three defenses
- 13:43Speaker 2: in the NFL against the Denver Broncos, and Terry had
- 13:48Speaker 2: himself a good day again against then against New York. Uh.
- 13:51Speaker 2: And I think from Washington standpoint, even leading the offense, uh,
- 14:00Speaker 2: right now, Mariota has the better chance, has to give
- 14:03Speaker 2: Washington a better chance to win the Jaydens just just
- 14:05Speaker 2: because of the inconsistency with Jayden's ability to stay on
- 14:08Speaker 2: the field, right it hurts him, hurts the offensive chemistry
- 14:12Speaker 2: Mariota has seen way more time than him so far
- 14:15Speaker 2: this season. I think it messes well with the group
- 14:18Speaker 2: of guys that they have now. And I think for Washington,
- 14:22Speaker 2: establishing the run is gonna be the most important getting
- 14:24Speaker 2: c Rod and Bill h Crosskey Merrit involved and obviously
- 14:28Speaker 2: McNichols in the past game. But like there's a lot
- 14:32Speaker 2: to say about what Mariota can do with Terry and
- 14:36Speaker 2: Debo and maybe like a surprise performance from or surprise
- 14:40Speaker 2: appearance from Treylon Berts, who knows, Yeah, yeah, it's it's
- 14:43Speaker 2: it's I'm actually not too concerned about the offensive side
- 14:47Speaker 2: of the ball. I think they'll be able to compete.
- 14:49Speaker 2: It's that other side of the ball who just looks
- 14:52Speaker 2: like they're just ready to give up thirty points.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Well, we're gonna We're definitely gonna get into that other
- 14:58Speaker 1: side of the ball. We're gonna get into this commander's
- 15:00Speaker 1: defense what we may see from them, but we do
- 15:02Speaker 1: have to take a quick break again. Folks talking to
- 15:04Speaker 1: Jamal Forest from the Trap or Dive Podcast, Great podcast,
- 15:08Speaker 1: and follow Jamal on the Twitter slash x. He's over

- 15:44Speaker 1: back more of our preview Philadelphia Eagles Washington Commanders.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Stick with us.
- 15:52Speaker 1: All right, We are back again with our good friend
- 15:54Speaker 1: Jamal Forest from the Trap or Dive Podcast, Great podcast.
- 15:59Speaker 1: As they're analyze a lot of what goes on with
- 16:01Speaker 1: this Washington Commander's team. And as we're continuing the discussion
- 16:06Speaker 1: here Jamal about what we're gonna see this coming Saturday
- 16:09Speaker 1: in this matchup here the Commander's offense, I mean, they're
- 16:13Speaker 1: gonna be of course shorthanded, not having Jaden Daniels zach
- 16:16Speaker 1: Ertz like you mentioned earlier, They're not gonna be on
- 16:19Speaker 1: the field. So I'm wondering, who do you think needs
- 16:21Speaker 1: to really step up for the Commanders if they're really
- 16:24Speaker 1: gonna have a chance to win this game?
- 16:27Speaker 2: Yeah, urge Nemesis Debo, yep. I think Deebo is gonna
- 16:33Speaker 2: be somebody who you know, he frustrates me, and it's
- 16:37Speaker 2: not his faults. It's just like on my podcast. I
- 16:44Speaker 2: didn't do it at the start of the season. It's
- 16:46Speaker 2: just a trend that I noticed maybe like three or
- 16:48Speaker 2: four weeks into the season. You know, all he did
- 16:52Speaker 2: is coming to the week one with like eighty ish.
- 16:59Speaker 2: I'm going off the top of my head feels it's
- 17:01Speaker 2: listening and watching. I don't have the numbers in front
- 17:03Speaker 2: of me, but like around eighty ish all purpose yards
- 17:05Speaker 2: right or yards from scrimmage, and all it did was
- 17:08Speaker 2: decline every week after that, Like it wasn't like he
- 17:11Speaker 2: was consistently hitting those marks super impactful offensively, that wasn't
- 17:16Speaker 2: the case for Debo. He's had some spot performances here
- 17:22Speaker 2: and there lately, and that's good for him, but in
- 17:26Speaker 2: terms of impact for an offense, it just hasn't really
- 17:30Speaker 2: been there. You see his value as a player, like
- 17:32Speaker 2: he's forgot the catch, he's a physical runner and things
- 17:36Speaker 2: of that nature, but like how valuable is that for
- 17:40Speaker 2: any offense? Like moving forward? Do you need that next
- 17:43Speaker 2: year if you're Washington? And for answering the question about
- 17:47Speaker 2: who needs to step up, I mean Cliff needs to
- 17:49Speaker 2: find a way to get him super involved early and often. Terry.
- 17:53Speaker 2: I trust Terry just from a vertical threat and three
- 17:56Speaker 2: level threat like he can he can find his way.
- 18:00Speaker 2: I know Quyon and him had their battles over the
- 18:03Speaker 2: last three games, and that's a big deal. It's a
- 18:06Speaker 2: lot of respect for Quon, but I think he's gonna
- 18:10Speaker 2: need some help.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Uh.
- 18:11Speaker 2: And and I think it's been for Debo just from
- 18:13Speaker 2: a contract standpoint. You know he's going into free agency
- 18:15Speaker 2: next point. Uh, it's it's a season where we gave
- 18:20Speaker 2: we converted his money into like a signing bonus where
- 18:22Speaker 2: he got all his money that was like I think
- 18:29Speaker 2: old to him later up front. Yeah. Yeah, So so
- 18:35Speaker 2: for for him, I think these last three games are important.
- 18:38Speaker 2: But this game against a good defense to prove that
- 18:43Speaker 2: you ain't old and slow and like a team can
- 18:47Speaker 2: use you moving forward. That's this is one of those
- 18:49Speaker 2: games where you know this offense can use your help.
- 18:52Speaker 2: So so Deebo is gonna be one, uh and I
- 18:56Speaker 2: mean there's several others, but he's going to be definitely
- 18:58Speaker 2: a guy that you that you're gonna needs.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Game.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Yeah, we got to keep our eyes on him. Eagles Nation,
- 19:03Speaker 1: Deebo Samuel for sure. And in terms of this Commander's
- 19:08Speaker 1: in terms of the Commander's defense, you know, which I
- 19:11Speaker 1: kind of teased a little bit before we went to break.
- 19:13Speaker 1: You know, I do see two players and you mentioned
- 19:15Speaker 1: them earlier, Dron Payne and Javon kin Law as the
- 19:19Speaker 1: key players who I think are gonna need to really
- 19:22Speaker 1: have some exceptional play on the field to slow down
- 19:25Speaker 1: the Eagles offense. Of course von Miller as well in
- 19:28Speaker 1: terms of the role that he plays. Is that what
- 19:31Speaker 1: you're thinking as well here, Jamal or do you have
- 19:34Speaker 1: any other thoughts who our thoughts on who really needs
- 19:38Speaker 1: to play kind of lights out for the Commander's defense
- 19:40Speaker 1: in order to stall the Eagles offense.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Them. Two. As you mentioned, Johnny Newton doesn't get that
- 19:47Speaker 2: much time times of the rotation, but you know he's
- 19:52Speaker 2: not that start against the Ryan game. But when he
- 19:53Speaker 2: gets in, you know you're gonna need somebody that can
- 19:57Speaker 2: help alleviate the time that Vaughn and darn are off
- 20:02Speaker 2: the field, and that that'll be the time that Johnny
- 20:03Speaker 2: Newton spends on the field. You gotta find he's gonna
- 20:06Speaker 2: have to step up. And I think, uh, while he's
- 20:11Speaker 2: like hasn't been terrible or even bad in games, he
- 20:20Speaker 2: hasn't like stood out, He hasn't taken over. He hasn't
- 20:24Speaker 2: really caused enough chaos. You know, he wins with quickness,
- 20:29Speaker 2: and I think that's kind of apparent with his even
- 20:31Speaker 2: with his frame right. But sometimes when you get engaged,
- 20:35Speaker 2: you can't just like have that uh five getting driven
- 20:39Speaker 2: five yards five yards off the ball, film like show
- 20:43Speaker 2: your dominance in some aspects and then uh, that's that's
- 20:48Speaker 2: another person that I thought to mention. And in the secondary,
- 20:52Speaker 2: Antonio Hamilton had Ton dang. I always say his name.
- 20:59Speaker 1: I know you're I do that on this show all
- 21:01Speaker 1: the time. My co host bust my balls constantly.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm look, I do this, I do this all
- 21:06Speaker 2: the time. But the quarterback who had a great, great
- 21:09Speaker 2: game last year last week, I don't know if Jonathan
- 21:11Speaker 2: Jones is going to be healthy enough to play this week.
- 21:15Speaker 2: I'm not too sure. I guess we'll get an injury
- 21:17Speaker 2: report soon. If not, I think maybe today or maybe
- 21:21Speaker 2: yesterday was the last injury report. I'll have to double check.
- 21:23Speaker 2: But Jonathan Jones, if he's inactive, Hamilton is actually going
- 21:27Speaker 2: to end up playing in this place again. Uh. And
- 21:30Speaker 2: I think that cornerback spot going up against Davonte and
- 21:34Speaker 2: AJ and even uh John Johon Dawson, I think there's
- 21:41Speaker 2: gonna be that's a big spot for these guys.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Ye.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Safety help is gonna be good. I mean it's gonna
- 21:47Speaker 2: be important, but like those initial matchups with the cornerbacks
- 21:51Speaker 2: is going to be most important. And if Hamilton wants
- 21:54Speaker 2: to make some money next next year, I had to
- 21:57Speaker 2: say that you're gonna get super paid. You thirty two,
- 21:59Speaker 2: You already has your ten years in the league. Yeah,
- 22:02Speaker 2: but at the same time, if like this is like
- 22:04Speaker 2: a big opportunity for him, so like what can you do?
- 22:07Speaker 2: Sam were still of course is like that's a given,
- 22:09Speaker 2: but like Hamilton is just the person that has been
- 22:15Speaker 2: elevated from practice squad and he has the most important opportunities.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, well buddy, before I let you go
- 22:22Speaker 1: every week on our opposition territory pods on our pregame
- 22:26Speaker 1: preview shows, here, we'd like to end with these two questions,
- 22:30Speaker 1: and it's what both teams are gonna need to hit
- 22:32Speaker 1: on for a win this week. So let's start with
- 22:35Speaker 1: the Commanders here. What's the one thing that Commanders are
- 22:37Speaker 1: going to need to hit on for a win against
- 22:39Speaker 1: the Philadelphia Eagles this week.
- 22:42Speaker 2: If it's one thing, I'll just say mistake free that
- 22:45Speaker 2: involve no turnovers and limiture penalties. That has killed them
- 22:51Speaker 2: every single week. And surprisingly we got to win last
- 22:55Speaker 2: week because the Giants are terrible just as much as
- 22:57Speaker 2: we are. But yeah, you gotta be you gotta be
- 23:01Speaker 2: mistake free if you want to get a win.
- 23:03Speaker 1: I think the Commanders are one of the highest penalized
- 23:06Speaker 1: teams in the league at this point, right, I think
- 23:08Speaker 1: I think that.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Are I don't.
- 23:09Speaker 2: I don't even have to look it up to know
- 23:11Speaker 2: that it's terrible.
- 23:13Speaker 3: I love it all right.
- 23:14Speaker 1: On the flip side, what's the one thing the Eagles
- 23:17Speaker 1: are going to to need to hit on for a
- 23:18Speaker 1: win this week? In your opinion?
- 23:20Speaker 2: Run the ball.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Just run the ball and make sure getting it.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Yeah, make sure gets enough touches this week. Don't abandon it.
- 23:28Speaker 2: I think Squon is in a like I've been thinking,
- 23:32Speaker 2: like the last couple of weeks, Philly has been trying
- 23:35Speaker 2: to get him established more and and and they have
- 23:40Speaker 2: and and I think it shouldn't stop against uh the
- 23:43Speaker 2: Washtak commanders, especially a team who just cannot stop the
- 23:46Speaker 2: run in any facet. So uh that if you if
- 23:50Speaker 2: you establish the ground game, you control the clock. If
- 23:52Speaker 2: you control the clock and stay on the field, you
- 23:54Speaker 2: have opportunities getting the red zone and score touchdowns or
- 23:57Speaker 2: score field goals. So run the ball keeps Saquon active
- 24:00Speaker 2: in early and often.
- 24:02Speaker 1: That's what I'm hoping happens with this Eagles team. But
- 24:05Speaker 1: we're gonna end things here, Jamal Forrest again. Folks from
- 24:08Speaker 1: the Trap or Dive podcast, you could search them out

- 24:51Speaker 1: State fan here, right, and all I ever want is
- 24:54Speaker 1: them for them to beat Ohio State and Michigan. I
- 24:57Speaker 1: tell my friends all the time, like if they just
- 25:00Speaker 1: go like two and ten, but those two wins are
- 25:03Speaker 1: against Ohio State Michigan, like I'm all for I'm all
- 25:07Speaker 1: for Ittel.
- 25:08Speaker 3: I'll take the other losses on this season.
- 25:10Speaker 2: But look, look, I'm still I still got some energy
