- 0:21Speaker 2: The only thing that could be greater, of course, would

- 0:54Speaker 1: and good old regular life. It's Kevin McCullough Monday through
- 0:59Speaker 1: Friday on That Kevin's Show and Now from the Connors
- 1:09Speaker 1: in Sullivan Broadcast Studios. A man who is not what
- 1:13Speaker 1: he wants to be, but is way grateful that he's
- 1:17Speaker 1: not who he used to be.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Here, thank you, David, David says at the beginning of
- 1:29Speaker 2: the show. Every day he's not who he wants to be,
- 1:32Speaker 2: but he's way grateful he's not who he used to be.
- 1:35Speaker 2: There's never been a more a more true thing said
- 1:38Speaker 2: about yours. Truly, I am so humbled friend. Every single
- 1:42Speaker 2: day I get to come to this microphone and get
- 1:44Speaker 2: to be with you, and increasingly in more and more places.
- 1:47Speaker 2: I was just looking at some new information today in Bismarck,
- 1:53Speaker 2: North Dakota, you're hearing us for the first time. Thank
- 1:55Speaker 2: you Bismarck for being there. I was just looking at Lakeview, Arkansas,
- 2:00Speaker 2: which is not far from Fayetteville. Thank you Lakeview for
- 2:03Speaker 2: being there, so grateful. And also in Springfield, Missouri, a
- 2:08Speaker 2: little town that's kind of kind of close to my
- 2:11Speaker 2: heart because I was born there. If Springfield, Missouri wasn't there,
- 2:16Speaker 2: who knows, maybe I wouldn't be here. But thank you Springfield,
- 2:19Speaker 2: Missouri for welcoming home your long lost son. I appreciate
- 2:23Speaker 2: you welcoming us in there as well. And of course
- 2:26Speaker 2: this week we are we've named w PEO in Peoria,
- 2:31Speaker 2: and they have four frequencies. They've got the AM station
- 2:34Speaker 2: and then they've got three FM, smaller power but still
- 2:39Speaker 2: very powerful, and they just blanket everything in the middle
- 2:42Speaker 2: in the south part of Illinois. And I just I
- 2:45Speaker 2: when I see these reports and I didn't know that
- 2:48Speaker 2: they were going to be sending them to me, but
- 2:50Speaker 2: when I see them, it just fills my heart with gratitude,
- 2:53Speaker 2: and I feel so humbled by it. And it's not
- 2:57Speaker 2: like when I was a kid and thought about someday, hopefully,
- 3:01Speaker 2: you know, getting my voice on the air, and having
- 3:03Speaker 2: a whole different host of reasons for being wanting to
- 3:06Speaker 2: be that this is something that I really do see
- 3:09Speaker 2: as a gift from God. I want to be faithful
- 3:12Speaker 2: to Him in the distribution of it and the use
- 3:16Speaker 2: of it. And I want to say thank you again
- 3:18Speaker 2: to Dave Sentrella and Phil Boyce and and Mike Read
- 3:21Speaker 2: and all the people at Salem that believed enough in
- 3:24Speaker 2: us to let this, let this go forward. And I
- 3:27Speaker 2: just we want to be we want to be about
- 3:29Speaker 2: the mission, which is what what's the mission? keV? You
- 3:32Speaker 2: say you want to be about the what is the mission?
- 3:34Speaker 2: The mission is this to take truth to every corner
- 3:38Speaker 2: of the world, to let truth be the kind of
- 3:41Speaker 2: over writing, overarching act of goodness that we give to
- 3:48Speaker 2: the universe around us. Because if we give people truth,
- 3:51Speaker 2: and if we do it in a loving manner, there's
- 3:54Speaker 2: nothing higher that we could do with the time that
- 3:57Speaker 2: we have, and so that's what I want to do
- 4:00Speaker 2: for two hours every day in your life, Monday through Saturday,
- 4:04Speaker 2: and sometimes repeated on Sunday. We want to be bringing
- 4:08Speaker 2: the truth to your to your heart, to your home,
- 4:11Speaker 2: to your heart, to your family, to your life, and
- 4:15Speaker 2: just grateful for all of that. All right. If you've
- 4:18Speaker 2: been listening since we launched on November the twenty fourth
- 4:21Speaker 2: of last year, you know that every month we have
- 4:25Speaker 2: we have mixed it up a little bit, but we
- 4:28Speaker 2: have attempted to use a portion of what we do
- 4:30Speaker 2: here on the air to change the literal world around us.
- 4:34Speaker 2: There are so many people in media and this this
- 4:37Speaker 2: this thing that I'm seeing, you know, play out with
- 4:40Speaker 2: Savannah Gunthri's mom and just the sad the real sadness
- 4:44Speaker 2: that is it play there is exhibited, There is is
- 4:48Speaker 2: just it. It just punches me in the gut. But
- 4:53Speaker 2: the idea that we live in a world where media
- 4:57Speaker 2: is used for a lot of different things, I want
- 4:59Speaker 2: to use. I want to use what God gives us
- 5:02Speaker 2: here to make a difference and to make it tangibly.
- 5:06Speaker 2: And so we've helped liberate slaves, We've helped save the
- 5:09Speaker 2: life of unborn children, we've helped unwed moms, We've done
- 5:12Speaker 2: it in a lot of things in the last sixty days.
- 5:15Speaker 2: But for the next ninety days, we're going to do
- 5:18Speaker 2: something that may be as exciting as I ever get
- 5:20Speaker 2: to be part of anything, because the group that we're
- 5:23Speaker 2: going to be working with is going to be new
- 5:25Speaker 2: to a lot of you. Some of you that listen
- 5:26Speaker 2: to me in New York, you've heard me for years.
- 5:28Speaker 2: You're familiar with the words Food for the Poor. But
- 5:32Speaker 2: there are a lot of other people that are listening
- 5:34Speaker 2: to us that have no clue what Food for the
- 5:36Speaker 2: Poor does or why they exist. And I will just
- 5:39Speaker 2: tell you in my own experience with them. This goes
- 5:41Speaker 2: back I don't know, twenty years. Maybe I mean, I
- 5:45Speaker 2: don't feel that old, but I'm starting to save phrases
- 5:49Speaker 2: like that out of my mouth now on a regular basis.
- 5:51Speaker 2: And I'm like, no, he can't mean. Then I see
- 5:53Speaker 2: my fifteen year old who's taller than me by an
- 5:55Speaker 2: inch and a half. Now I'm like, Okay, maybe it's true.
- 5:58Speaker 2: But here's the thing. Since I met Food for the
- 6:01Speaker 2: Poor twenty something years ago, I have I have just
- 6:07Speaker 2: been continued continually thankful for all the good that they do.
- 6:11Speaker 2: I've been with them in at least two different countries,
- 6:15Speaker 2: maybe more than that. I've seen different aspects of work
- 6:20Speaker 2: that they do, from building homes, to feeding kids, to
- 6:25Speaker 2: installing water purification systems, to operating in some places forms
- 6:31Speaker 2: of schools, to operating churches and in some places widows' homes.
- 6:38Speaker 2: It has just been a miraculous and marvelous thing to
- 6:42Speaker 2: get to know this group called Food for the Poor,
- 6:44Speaker 2: establishing fishing, micro businesses, micro commerce efforts for people that
- 6:50Speaker 2: are trying to support themselves. They they are in essence
- 6:54Speaker 2: to the Latin American and Central America, South America portion
- 6:58Speaker 2: of this country or of this world. World kind of
- 7:00Speaker 2: the equivalent of what people think about when you say
- 7:02Speaker 2: the Red Cross. Here in America, you say Red Cross,
- 7:04Speaker 2: and people immediately think, oh, they do good. They go
- 7:07Speaker 2: to wherever the disaster is, they help out big time.
- 7:10Speaker 2: It's that way with Food for the Poor. In the
- 7:12Speaker 2: areas that we're talking about, and in Jamaica, for example,
- 7:15Speaker 2: when they had the devastating, you know, a storm that
- 7:20Speaker 2: came across this last year, Food for the Poor was
- 7:23Speaker 2: actually the group that were tapped to kind of be
- 7:26Speaker 2: the clearing house for all of the help and the
- 7:29Speaker 2: relief that they did. So it was it was really
- 7:32Speaker 2: rather remarkable to see. And they do that in the
- 7:36Speaker 2: name of Jesus, like, they don't shrink back from being
- 7:40Speaker 2: about Jesus. When governments like the Jamaica government come to
- 7:44Speaker 2: them and say, can you help us with this? No,
- 7:47Speaker 2: they step up. That's that's the moment where they step
- 7:49Speaker 2: up and they are into their calling at that moment,
- 7:53Speaker 2: maybe more so than any other time. But unlike the
- 7:57Speaker 2: Red Cross, which we primarily think of in terms of
- 8:00Speaker 2: emergencies and situations here, that are, you know, spur of
- 8:04Speaker 2: the moment. With Food for the Poor, it is an
- 8:06Speaker 2: ongoing effort in many of the projects that they have
- 8:11Speaker 2: currently operating because the need is so big. And what
- 8:14Speaker 2: we're going to talk about over the next ninety days
- 8:17Speaker 2: is how seven hundred and let's call it twenty maybe
- 8:21Speaker 2: seven hundred and nineteen somewhere in there children have that
- 8:27Speaker 2: we are aware of that Food for the Poor knows
- 8:29Speaker 2: the name of that, they have a pastor in that
- 8:31Speaker 2: child's life who has identified them as being someone who
- 8:36Speaker 2: is so significantly under the poverty line, who is someone
- 8:39Speaker 2: who's so under the significantly under the cutoff line for
- 8:46Speaker 2: what poverty looks like, what hunger looks like, what starvation
- 8:50Speaker 2: looks like. That there are literally seven hundred and twenty
- 8:54Speaker 2: children that we cannot just give them a bowl of
- 8:58Speaker 2: food in the next cup weeks, but we can actually
- 9:01Speaker 2: feed them for an entire year with one gift that
- 9:06Speaker 2: will provide more than seven hundred meals for them, and
- 9:09Speaker 2: it's going to save their life. I cannot wait to
- 9:12Speaker 2: introduce you to my friends Paul Jacob and Danny Patino,
- 9:15Speaker 2: who are going to join us for much of the
- 9:16Speaker 2: rest of the show today. But if you would like
- 9:19Speaker 2: to join us on this journey, find out more by
- 9:22Speaker 2: going to that kevinshow dot com and clicking the Food
- 9:24Speaker 2: for the Poor band at the top of the page,
- 9:26Speaker 2: or text the word hunger to five to one five
- 9:29Speaker 2: five five and let us send you a little response text.
- 9:33Speaker 2: They'll give you a link to show you everything that
- 9:34Speaker 2: we're doing. But it's going to be an amazing journey
- 9:38Speaker 2: that we're on and I want you to be with it,
- 9:41Speaker 2: with us on it from the very beginning. Eight five
- 9:44Speaker 2: five nine oh seven four six seven three is the number.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Kevin mccallaugh. It's that Kevin show.
- 10:08Speaker 6: Here he is from New York. That Kevin McCulla.
- 10:15Speaker 2: All right, welcome back. It's Kevin McCulla, that Kevin Show,
- 10:18Speaker 2: that kevinshow dot com. And if you want a copy
- 10:21Speaker 2: of the podcast, Salem Podcast Network is where we have
- 10:24Speaker 2: those at and you can actually you can get all
- 10:27Speaker 2: of the how do we Live conversations for every week
- 10:30Speaker 2: that we do it if you go over there. The
- 10:33Speaker 2: interesting thing about this portion of the show is that
- 10:36Speaker 2: it is probably the most timeless part of the show
- 10:39Speaker 2: because it is the most important part of the show.
- 10:42Speaker 2: We ask the big question. We don't ask the big
- 10:44Speaker 2: questions enough. We asked the big questions here. How do
- 10:47Speaker 2: we live? How do we live in a culture that
- 10:48Speaker 2: despises God, that has no use for his word, that
- 10:52Speaker 2: thinks those of us that he need his word and
- 10:56Speaker 2: depend on him and lean into him. There's something wrong
- 11:01Speaker 2: with us? So does that change our mission? Does it
- 11:03Speaker 2: change what we're about? Does it change anything that we
- 11:06Speaker 2: should be thinking or doing in our lives. That's why
- 11:09Speaker 2: we want to ask this question every single day. Doctor
- 11:11Speaker 2: Richard Caldwell, it's back with us. He is the lead
- 11:14Speaker 2: pastor at Founder's Baptist Church in Houston and Richard. Yesterday
- 11:18Speaker 2: we started a discussion in First John chapter three and
- 11:21Speaker 2: just the first three verses there. But there's a lot
- 11:24Speaker 2: in these three short verses.
- 11:26Speaker 5: There certainly is.
- 11:27Speaker 7: And as you'll be with you again today, Kevin, you
- 11:30Speaker 7: know you mentioned a moment ago why question.
- 11:33Speaker 5: I love what you're doing here. I love the segment because.
- 11:37Speaker 7: The Bible provides us for us over and over again,
- 11:42Speaker 7: not just telling us how to live, but telling us why,
- 11:44Speaker 7: giving us explanations for the very things that we're facing.
- 11:47Speaker 7: And you mentioned the hostility that we all face as
- 11:50Speaker 7: believers from the culture.
- 11:52Speaker 5: It doesn't matter where you're living in the world. This
- 11:54Speaker 5: is true.
- 11:54Speaker 7: And if you ask why why is there such hostility,
- 11:59Speaker 7: the Bible provides the answer, and it has to do
- 12:02Speaker 7: with the difference between what we were by nature when
- 12:08Speaker 7: we were born into the world in sin Ephesian chapter two,
- 12:11Speaker 7: and what we are now because of the new nature,
- 12:15Speaker 7: because God has saved us.
- 12:17Speaker 5: There's such a change that has occurred.
- 12:19Speaker 7: It actually makes us aliens and strangers and pilgrims in
- 12:23Speaker 7: this world on our way to our heavenly city, to
- 12:28Speaker 7: everlasting life. In the presence of our Savior, and John
- 12:32Speaker 7: in verses one three three sort of walks us through
- 12:34Speaker 7: the logic of that. And so if you don't mind,
- 12:37Speaker 7: that's what I'd like to do here for just a
- 12:39Speaker 7: second and just walk us through verse one, in the
- 12:42Speaker 7: first part of verse two, and just note eight different
- 12:45Speaker 7: ways that John describes who we are now in Christ.
- 12:50Speaker 7: And the very first thing that's amazing to me is
- 12:53Speaker 7: he verse one. It begins with an imperative. The verse
- 12:56Speaker 7: is this, see how great a love the Father has
- 13:00Speaker 7: stowed on us, that we would be called children of God?
- 13:03Speaker 5: And such we are for.
- 13:05Speaker 7: This reason the world does not know us, because it
- 13:09Speaker 7: did not know him. Then verse two begins, beloved, now
- 13:13Speaker 7: we are children of God, and it has not yet
- 13:15Speaker 7: appeared as yet what we will be. We know that
- 13:17Speaker 7: when he appears, we will be like him, because we
- 13:19Speaker 7: will see him just as he is.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Well.
- 13:21Speaker 7: The very first word of verse one is see, and
- 13:24Speaker 7: that's an imperative.
- 13:25Speaker 5: And so we're commanded.
- 13:26Speaker 7: By our God to take note of what he has
- 13:29Speaker 7: done in our case. I mean, it's important that we
- 13:33Speaker 7: keep our minds eye on who we are now in Christ, Jesus,
- 13:38Speaker 7: and specifically we're commanded to take note of the love
- 13:41Speaker 7: that God has bestowed upon us by making us his
- 13:44Speaker 7: spiritual children. We are commanded to remember how God has
- 13:48Speaker 7: loved us. And the second thing he points out is
- 13:52Speaker 7: that this is astounding. We're to marvel at it. He says,
- 13:56Speaker 7: see how great a love the Father has bestowed on it?
- 14:00Speaker 5: How great a love? The ESV translates that.
- 14:05Speaker 7: What kind of see what kind of love the Father
- 14:09Speaker 7: has bestowed upon us? And it actually translates a Greek
- 14:11Speaker 7: word that literally means from what country? James Montgomery, boys,
- 14:17Speaker 7: who are my favorite expositors, He said this, He said,
- 14:20Speaker 7: hear the phrase how great literally behold of what country?
- 14:24Speaker 7: Implies great astonishment, as if the love of God is
- 14:28Speaker 7: so unparalleled in human experience that John cannot even tell
- 14:33Speaker 7: from what country it comes.
- 14:34Speaker 2: It's otherworldly.
- 14:35Speaker 5: Literally, it's otherworldly. It's beyond explanation.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Well, and that's one of the reasons why there's another
- 14:42Speaker 2: word in that same phrase. And I know that King
- 14:44Speaker 2: James and the NASB use the word bestow, but the
- 14:48Speaker 2: nivy it's translated lavish, And we don't use that kind
- 14:55Speaker 2: of effervescent descriptor of love very often in our culture,
- 15:00Speaker 2: her in our lives. But that is that is literally
- 15:03Speaker 2: like I just it's it's so it's it's so engulfing,
- 15:07Speaker 2: it's so enormous, it's so that, and it's he can't
- 15:11Speaker 2: just give us a little bit of it. He lavishes
- 15:13Speaker 2: it on us.
- 15:14Speaker 7: I love that, Kevin. That's a great that's a great insight.
- 15:18Speaker 7: And in fact, that word you're mentioning, they're bestowed or lavished.
- 15:23Speaker 7: It is the third thing about this love we've been given,
- 15:26Speaker 7: it's undeserved. God has has lavished it or given it,
- 15:30Speaker 7: bestowed it upon us, not explained by us, explained by
- 15:35Speaker 7: his grace, explained by mercy. Salvation is a free gift,
- 15:40Speaker 7: not earned, deserved, merited. It's a matter of of the
- 15:43Speaker 7: the all sufficient, finished work of Jesus Christ, received by
- 15:46Speaker 7: faith alone. And so it's an undeserved position that we have,
- 15:50Speaker 7: and it's infinitely high. It says that we would be
- 15:53Speaker 7: called children of God. Look behold, take note of how
- 15:58Speaker 7: great a love the Father bestowed on us. That we
- 16:01Speaker 7: would be called children of God. And there's no higher title.
- 16:06Speaker 7: I mean, imagine being the child of a king, an
- 16:08Speaker 7: earthly king. Well, God's people, we're children of the Everlasting King,
- 16:13Speaker 7: the King of kings, and so there's no higher title,
- 16:17Speaker 7: there's no higher privileges. But what really dawn on me
- 16:20Speaker 7: is I study this is there's also no higher contrast
- 16:23Speaker 7: to what we were by nature. Ephesians two says we
- 16:27Speaker 7: were by nature children of wrath, that is, by virtue
- 16:31Speaker 7: of who we are from birth, we deserve the wrath
- 16:34Speaker 7: of God. We deserve hell. And now we are God's children.
- 16:41Speaker 7: What a contrast from a child of the devil belonging
- 16:46Speaker 7: to the domain of darkness.
- 16:48Speaker 5: Using the language of calautions.
- 16:50Speaker 7: Now I've been transferred into the kingdom of God's son,
- 16:52Speaker 7: and I'm actually a child of God, a joint heir
- 16:56Speaker 7: with Jesus Christ.
- 16:57Speaker 5: And John is saying, take note of this, don't don't don't,
- 17:01Speaker 5: don't forget this.
- 17:03Speaker 7: But the best part of all are the next words,
- 17:06Speaker 7: he says, and such we are our position is real.
- 17:10Speaker 7: So what's most wonderful and astounding about all of this
- 17:13Speaker 7: is it's not imagination. It's not just some sort of
- 17:17Speaker 7: positive thinking that believers put ourselves into.
- 17:19Speaker 5: It's not pretend. It's not a way to cope.
- 17:23Speaker 7: It is absolute reality for everyone who knows Jesus. In fact,
- 17:28Speaker 7: he says in the first part of verse two beloved.
- 17:30Speaker 7: Now we are children of God. So our position is real.
- 17:35Speaker 7: Now the next part, Kevin gets to the the issue
- 17:38Speaker 7: that you point out every time you come to this segment,
- 17:42Speaker 7: and that is why.
- 17:43Speaker 5: The hostility, why the difficulty.
- 17:45Speaker 7: Well, the next thing John tells us is our position
- 17:48Speaker 7: is alienating. What God has done in us has now
- 17:54Speaker 7: alienated us from the lost and dying world in which
- 17:58Speaker 7: we were saved out of it, and we live, he says,
- 18:01Speaker 7: for this reason into birth one. For this reason, the
- 18:05Speaker 7: world does not know us because it did not know him.
- 18:11Speaker 7: And so, just as our Lord came from another realm,
- 18:14Speaker 7: from Heaven, born of a virgin, taken to himself an
- 18:17Speaker 7: additional nature, a real but sinless human nature, to save
- 18:21Speaker 7: his people from their sins, just as Christ came from
- 18:23Speaker 7: another realm, now we belong to another realm. Our citizenship
- 18:27Speaker 7: is in heaven. And so our thinking has changed, Our
- 18:31Speaker 7: affections have changed, our ambitions have changed, our behaviors have changed,
- 18:35Speaker 7: our standards have changed. Everything about what God has done
- 18:39Speaker 7: in his people now makes us.
- 18:41Speaker 5: Different from the world around us.
- 18:43Speaker 7: And as you pointed out yesterday, this doesn't mean we're
- 18:45Speaker 7: divorced from the present age.
- 18:47Speaker 5: We don't check out of it.
- 18:48Speaker 7: We fully engage it, but now as an all together
- 18:52Speaker 7: different people.
- 18:53Speaker 5: I love what John MacArthur said about this. He said,
- 18:55Speaker 5: the real aliens in the.
- 18:56Speaker 7: World are not extraterrestrials at Christians.
- 19:01Speaker 5: I love that.
- 19:02Speaker 7: I mean, you hear a lot of talk these days
- 19:04Speaker 7: about aliens. Right, We're the aliens. We're the ones who
- 19:09Speaker 7: don't really belong in a very real sense. He goes honestly,
- 19:13Speaker 7: having been born again, given a new nature of heavenly origin,
- 19:17Speaker 7: Christians display a nature and lifestyle like their Savior and
- 19:21Speaker 7: heavenly Father, a nature totally foreign otherworldly to the unsaved.
- 19:26Speaker 5: So that explains the hostility.
- 19:28Speaker 7: Why doesn't the world understands, Well, it didn't understand our savior.
- 19:32Speaker 5: And it's actually a great mercy.
- 19:34Speaker 7: This is all we're able to rejoice, the Bible teaches
- 19:37Speaker 7: us when we suffer persecution.
- 19:39Speaker 5: I mean, there's no greater evidence.
- 19:40Speaker 7: That the Lord has has radically transformed your life than
- 19:45Speaker 7: that you no longer are understood by a lost and
- 19:49Speaker 7: dying world.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Well, but also a great on that note, we're going
- 19:53Speaker 2: to need to kind of draw these thoughts today to
- 19:56Speaker 2: a close. But friends, so much good stuff in here,
- 19:59Speaker 2: and I hope that you will be reading through first
- 20:02Speaker 2: John three one through three as we have a few
- 20:05Speaker 2: more days with doctor Richard Caldwell. Richard real quickly, just
- 20:08Speaker 2: twenty seconds or so. If people are in the Houston
- 20:12Speaker 2: area and would like to worship with you this weekend,
- 20:14Speaker 2: where they go, how they find you. Let people know,
- 20:18Speaker 2: thank you.
- 20:18Speaker 7: We're in northwest Houston Spring Woodlands area, so you can
- 20:23Speaker 7: find us at Founders Baptist dot Org. The address will
- 20:26Speaker 7: be there, okay, and so just visit the church website
- 20:29Speaker 7: and all the informations there for.
- 20:30Speaker 2: You Founders Baptist dot Org if you would like more info.
- 20:34Speaker 2: All right, very very the convicting study that we're looking
- 20:38Speaker 2: at this week, Doctor Caldwell, thank you for being with us.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Thank you. Kevin, Kevin McCullough. Coming back. We've got a
- 20:43Speaker 2: lot to get to today.
- 20:44Speaker 8: Don't go anyway, let's stick around for more of bat
- 20:50Speaker 8: Kevin next.
- 21:08Speaker 6: Here he is from New York. That Kevin Kevin McCullough.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Welcome, Kevin mccallaugh. Glad to have you with us. It
- 21:18Speaker 2: is it's still a little cold in New York. I
- 21:21Speaker 2: don't know about where you are, but we're ready for
- 21:24Speaker 2: something to happen soon. Please chage this dynamic. But I
- 21:29Speaker 2: am very excited about this time of year because what
- 21:32Speaker 2: we have the chance to do over the next few
- 21:34Speaker 2: days is just going to bless and bless and bless.
- 21:37Speaker 2: And I'm very, very touched already those of you hearing
- 21:40Speaker 2: what we're doing, several of you have stepped up. We've
- 21:43Speaker 2: already it's seven hundred and twenty children. There have already
- 21:47Speaker 2: been ten of those children spoken for for the rest
- 21:50Speaker 2: of for the rest of the year. So thank you
- 21:53Speaker 2: to those of you who have done that. Thank you
- 21:55Speaker 2: for stepping up, Thank you for being part of the solution.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Now what are you talking about, keV, Well, bring in
- 22:00Speaker 2: my friend Danny Patino, who was joining us live via
- 22:03Speaker 2: the Magic of Technology from the world headquarters of Food
- 22:09Speaker 2: for the Poor in in Florida. And Danny, it's it's
- 22:13Speaker 2: it's it's encouraging to me to know that we barely
- 22:15Speaker 2: even started talking about this and and ten kids are
- 22:18Speaker 2: gonna they're gonna eat every day for the next year,
- 22:21Speaker 2: two meals a day, and have clean drinking water right
- 22:25Speaker 2: out of the shoot. We've already solved that problem for
- 22:27Speaker 2: ten of those seven hundred and twenty kids. Uh, and
- 22:30Speaker 2: that means there's seven hundred and ten to seven hundred
- 22:33Speaker 2: and ten to go. Let's get that number under seven
- 22:35Speaker 2: hundred this hour as quickly as we can. Let's have
- 22:39Speaker 2: another ten kids taking care of seventy five dollars per child,
- 22:43Speaker 2: will feed them two meals a day and then give
- 22:46Speaker 2: them clean drinking water for the foreseeable future. But Danny,
- 22:49Speaker 2: for people that don't know anything about Food for the Poor,
- 22:53Speaker 2: introduce yourself and your organization to a brand new audience.
- 22:57Speaker 9: Well, first of all, thank you for having us, Kevin,
- 22:59Speaker 9: And definitely I want to give a quick shout out
- 23:01Speaker 9: before I get into that to Sherry that's listening on
- 23:04Speaker 9: the app there in California, and Mary that's listened to
- 23:06Speaker 9: us in Washington as well. She jumped in and said,
- 23:09Speaker 9: I'm going to take care of two children for an
- 23:11Speaker 9: entire year. And that's what we're doing on this day
- 23:13Speaker 9: of Hope with here on the on that Kevin show,
- 23:15Speaker 9: which is we're providing a prayer being answered to mothers
- 23:19Speaker 9: right now in Latin America and the Caribbean. Fifteen of
- 23:22Speaker 9: those countries, to be exact, the Food for the Poor
- 23:24Speaker 9: serves in we're answering those prayers of one more meal,
- 23:28Speaker 9: just one more meal for my children, where that meal
- 23:31Speaker 9: doesn't come from a garbage dump, Where that meal doesn't
- 23:34Speaker 9: come from just a handful of rice, or just one
- 23:38Speaker 9: egg to be distributed through four members of a family.
- 23:41Speaker 9: That's the life that these folks say, one rag, one
- 23:45Speaker 9: egg between a family. We've heard stories, how.
- 23:47Speaker 2: How do you even cut that up? Like so like
- 23:50Speaker 2: my kids, my science son would be like Dad, how
- 23:53Speaker 2: does that even? Do? They hard boil it and then
- 23:55Speaker 2: literally like forth it in fourths? I mean, and to
- 23:58Speaker 2: think what would one little strip of a boiled egg
- 24:01Speaker 2: mean to your day? Like if that's all the food
- 24:03Speaker 2: that you got.
- 24:03Speaker 9: That day, well that's the only thing you've had in
- 24:06Speaker 9: a couple of days.
- 24:07Speaker 3: That meal is the best meal you're gonna have.
- 24:09Speaker 9: And to you and I, that's probably not enough because
- 24:13Speaker 9: we've had bigger meals. We've had a lunch, we've had
- 24:14Speaker 9: a breakfast, we've had meals all throughout the week, and.
- 24:17Speaker 3: We know that there's more coming next week.
- 24:20Speaker 9: Well, the families that we're helping out today, those don't
- 24:23Speaker 9: have that kind of luxury. And I keep saying luxury
- 24:25Speaker 9: because that's a luxury for us. That's a necessity. That's
- 24:28Speaker 9: a basic necessity for these families. And to not know
- 24:31Speaker 9: where your next meal is coming from, that's a that's
- 24:34Speaker 9: not a day dream, that's a nightmare that these families
- 24:38Speaker 9: are going through. And again, a handful of rice and
- 24:41Speaker 9: one egg is where it is right now for these families.
- 24:45Speaker 9: So to distribute one egg, Yeah, these mothers out of
- 24:49Speaker 9: necessity become the best inventors because they know how to
- 24:52Speaker 9: how to get that egg and distribute it through a
- 24:54Speaker 9: two or three or four children at that And then also,
- 24:57Speaker 9: of course I'm a parent myself. Sometimes you got to
- 24:59Speaker 9: ea yourself right, you can't go without eating.
- 25:03Speaker 3: And then provide for your children.
- 25:04Speaker 9: Well, that's where we are right now, and that's why
- 25:07Speaker 9: Food for the Poor has been around for forty three years.
- 25:10Speaker 9: We started out in Jamaica, then gravitated over to Haiti,
- 25:14Speaker 9: and then now we're at fifteen countries throughout Latin America
- 25:17Speaker 9: and the Caribbean, trying to break that cycle of poverty,
- 25:21Speaker 9: break that cycle of poverty that seems to be in
- 25:23Speaker 9: every generation that these folks are living in and at
- 25:26Speaker 9: the same time transform these folks out of that cycle
- 25:30Speaker 9: into a reality that you and I know, which is
- 25:33Speaker 9: going back to work, going to schooling for children, having
- 25:37Speaker 9: a childhood that looks like a childhood, children playing, children laughing,
- 25:42Speaker 9: not having to be in and out of clinics because
- 25:45Speaker 9: of water that's making them sick, or because of malnutrition,
- 25:48Speaker 9: or because of not enough adequate both. So the fact
- 25:53Speaker 9: that right now you can step into those lives and
- 25:56Speaker 9: tell these moms, tell these dads, tell these tell these children.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Got you covered. Don't worry about it.
- 26:01Speaker 9: You're gonna get to eat two meals a day, at
- 26:03Speaker 9: least two meals a day for three hundred and sixty
- 26:05Speaker 9: five days. And that water that's making you sick, well,
- 26:08Speaker 9: don't worry about that. We're going to take care of
- 26:10Speaker 9: that for you as well, with safe water that you
- 26:13Speaker 9: can use to drink, to eat, to bathe. So you
- 26:16Speaker 9: go to the bathroom, the dignity of having a bathroom
- 26:19Speaker 9: in your home versus having to go to what used
- 26:22Speaker 9: to be an outhouse for you and I way back when.
- 26:24Speaker 9: Now now technology has helped us get to a way
- 26:27Speaker 9: better place, a toilet that we can flush, and we
- 26:30Speaker 9: know where that's going to be. Well for these families, folks,
- 26:32Speaker 9: that's not the option. It's either going you know, doing
- 26:36Speaker 9: your stuff somewhere outside and having to use a bucket,
- 26:40Speaker 9: things like that, and that's that's where we are right now.
- 26:43Speaker 9: We want to break that cycle of poverty what we
- 26:45Speaker 9: call it, and get them back into our future, which
- 26:49Speaker 9: is a very near future for them, which you.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Still wage their lives.
- 26:52Speaker 2: For the families that we're talking about and friends, I
- 26:55Speaker 2: want you to I want you to think picture this,
- 26:58Speaker 2: if you will. A child that's not going to eat
- 27:02Speaker 2: anything for the next day or two, if they don't
- 27:05Speaker 2: find it rummaging through a trash pile or find it
- 27:08Speaker 2: in some other way of scrounging. But instead of replacing
- 27:11Speaker 2: that kind of fruitless search with a literal hot bowl
- 27:15Speaker 2: of food, rice beans, other things that can be prepared.
- 27:19Speaker 2: I've actually prepared some of the food with food for
- 27:21Speaker 2: the poor. They trusted me enough to sit in the
- 27:23Speaker 2: serving line one day on one of my visits to
- 27:25Speaker 2: the countries and to see the hearts of these kids
- 27:28Speaker 2: just express such gratitude for something simple that you and
- 27:31Speaker 2: I anyway, we're gonna help seven hundred and ten more
- 27:36Speaker 2: kids eight five, five, nine oh seven, four six seven three,
- 27:39Speaker 2: eight five five nine zero seven four six seven three
- 27:42Speaker 2: and some very exciting news when we come back. Don't
- 27:44Speaker 2: go anywhere. It's Kevin mccallaugh, that Kevin Show.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Here, he is from New York, that Kevin Kevin mcomough
- 28:15Speaker 1: that Kevin Show.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Eight five five nine zero seven four six seven three
- 28:19Speaker 2: eight five five nine zero seven four six seven three.
- 28:22Speaker 2: We're asking you to help us feed some children that
- 28:24Speaker 2: are gonna die if they don't get some healthy food.
- 28:27Speaker 2: But imagine being the parent that has to decide who
- 28:30Speaker 2: gets to eat.
- 28:31Speaker 10: That day walked into this wretched little shack. Inside we
- 28:36Speaker 10: saw mother totally with her face showed every line of
- 28:40Speaker 10: suffering possible of a mother who feels frustrated because she
- 28:44Speaker 10: can't feed her children. She had two children in the
- 28:47Speaker 10: shack with her. There was a four year old who
- 28:50Speaker 10: was actually eating a handful of rice, and the seven
- 28:53Speaker 10: year old who was standing there looking very woefully at
- 28:56Speaker 10: his little brother who was eating. And we said to
- 28:59Speaker 10: the seven year old old, how come you're not eating also?
- 29:03Speaker 10: And he said to us today, it's not my turn
- 29:07Speaker 10: to eat. Can you imagine the pain and a mother
- 29:13Speaker 10: to have to tell one of her children today it's
- 29:17Speaker 10: not your turn to eat. Perhaps tomorrow to have that
- 29:22Speaker 10: complete food and security where you cannot plan even one
- 29:27Speaker 10: day in advance for a meal for your children.
- 29:32Speaker 2: That has to break a mother's heart. Friends, I don't
- 29:35Speaker 2: know about you, and I certainly don't know what it
- 29:37Speaker 2: is like to be a parent in the poor countries
- 29:41Speaker 2: of Central and South America. But I will tell you
- 29:44Speaker 2: there's nothing about that story that does not give me
- 29:48Speaker 2: anything but complete overwhelming gratitude to my heavenly father for
- 29:54Speaker 2: the way. I've never had to make that decision for
- 29:56Speaker 2: my own child. I've never had to wonder am I
- 29:59Speaker 2: going to be able to feed him but not her?
- 30:02Speaker 2: Or those two, but not that one. That's not something
- 30:05Speaker 2: I've ever had to wrestle with. But Danny Patino a
- 30:09Speaker 2: Food for the Poor, the story that on hell Aaloma,
- 30:12Speaker 2: the former director of Food with the Poor, who's utest
- 30:15Speaker 2: since retired, was telling us right there, that's that's a
- 30:19Speaker 2: common choice that parents in in the countries that Food
- 30:24Speaker 2: for the Poor works in have to make on a
- 30:26Speaker 2: regular basis. Is it not?
- 30:28Speaker 3: It is?
- 30:28Speaker 9: And and I want you to focus again on that
- 30:31Speaker 9: audio piece there, that that's silence after his turn. That's
- 30:36Speaker 9: that's not patients, folks, that's just resignation. That that's a
- 30:39Speaker 9: seven year old that shouldn't understand food rationing. Okay, he
- 30:44Speaker 9: should understand sharing, he should understand enough. Or right now,
- 30:48Speaker 9: he's just understanding scarcity. And he understands that love doesn't
- 30:51Speaker 9: always translate to full bellies, and and that a mother's
- 30:55Speaker 9: hug that's not going to replace some meal, folks. And
- 30:58Speaker 9: and here's what happens in that waiting, Hunger becomes normal,
- 31:01Speaker 9: emptiness becomes expected, and the child grows up thinking this
- 31:06Speaker 9: is how life is.
- 31:07Speaker 3: This is the truth. And folks, it doesn't have to
- 31:10Speaker 3: be that way.
- 31:10Speaker 9: And right now in Guatemala and Honduras, in Haiti, that's
- 31:14Speaker 9: three out of the fifteen countries that we serve. In children,
- 31:16Speaker 9: they're watching their simpling's eat a handful of rice, but
- 31:20Speaker 9: they're learning to be grateful for their turn, not necessarily
- 31:23Speaker 9: the meal. And they're building their childhoods around absence instead
- 31:27Speaker 9: of abundance. And the parents too, I'm a parent of
- 31:30Speaker 9: to myself and that reality. I don't think I've ever
- 31:33Speaker 9: had I get a chance to grabs. They're having to watch,
- 31:36Speaker 9: to calculate, they're having to make that impossible choice. If
- 31:39Speaker 9: I eat less today, well they can eat more tomorrow,
- 31:43Speaker 9: and some of these folks have told us, some of
- 31:45Speaker 9: these parents have told us, we cry in a private
- 31:47Speaker 9: room so our children.
- 31:48Speaker 3: Don't see us cry.
- 31:51Speaker 9: And here's what changes everything, folks saying normal waiting someone
- 31:56Speaker 9: deciding that that childhood should not include hunger. And this
- 32:00Speaker 9: is where you come in, folks. This is where a
- 32:01Speaker 9: simple choice does become that profound change. And again, like
- 32:06Speaker 9: you mentioned, our goal is seven hundred and twenty kids.
- 32:09Speaker 9: Well imagine the parents of those children right now being
- 32:12Speaker 9: able to breathe because they're going.
- 32:14Speaker 3: To get a meal today, tomorrow, and the next day.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Yeah. And I want to just report some really good news.
- 32:20Speaker 2: So in the first part of the show, I got
- 32:22Speaker 2: word that because we've been doing this on the air
- 32:26Speaker 2: in New York for a long long time, and those
- 32:28Speaker 2: of you that are listening to the rest of the country,
- 32:30Speaker 2: you're joining us this year for the first time, but
- 32:33Speaker 2: we got word that every single child we can feed
- 32:38Speaker 2: for the rest of today's show is going to be
- 32:41Speaker 2: matched child for child, play to food, for play to food.
- 32:45Speaker 2: So let me tell you what that means. If it
- 32:50Speaker 2: costs seventy five dollars to feed a child for the
- 32:53Speaker 2: entire year and give them clean drinking water and friends.
- 32:55Speaker 2: I don't know if you've thought about this, how much
- 32:57Speaker 2: do you pay for a bottle of poland spring at
- 33:00Speaker 2: the grocery store or at the drug store? Like it's
- 33:02Speaker 2: like two bucks something now like the cheapest ones, at
- 33:05Speaker 2: least it is here in the Northeast. There may be
- 33:07Speaker 2: other places where it's less, but still that's a couple
- 33:10Speaker 2: of bucks for every eight ounces or sixteen ounces of water.
- 33:13Speaker 2: That's a lot of money. So to give them unlimited
- 33:16Speaker 2: drinking water that is pure and free of germs and
- 33:19Speaker 2: not going to harm them. But then on top of that,
- 33:21Speaker 2: to add not one like a lot of relief agencies
- 33:25Speaker 2: they pull up and they go, Okay, we're the big
- 33:27Speaker 2: guys here. We're going to feed everybody. And then they
- 33:29Speaker 2: give them one meal for the day and that's it.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Food for the Poor knows that if you're going to
- 33:34Speaker 2: really help kids, you've got to give them more nutritious food,
- 33:38Speaker 2: and you've got to give it to them a little
- 33:39Speaker 2: more often. So with the Food for the Poor program,
- 33:42Speaker 2: it's two meals a day, and in some places it's
- 33:45Speaker 2: actual delivery of those groceries to a mom's home that's
- 33:49Speaker 2: in a very remote region and hard to get to,
- 33:52Speaker 2: but done by a pastor, I might add. Or it's
- 33:55Speaker 2: kids coming to a feeding center where they twice a
- 33:58Speaker 2: day fire up the ovens and the and the stoves.
- 34:00Speaker 2: And I got to serve in one of these big,
- 34:03Speaker 2: big big pots of rice and beans, and you fill
- 34:06Speaker 2: up the plates and you just keep going until you
- 34:08Speaker 2: run out. And boy, these some of these kids. I mean,
- 34:13Speaker 2: you talk about the seven year old who said, and
- 34:15Speaker 2: it's not my turn to eat today, his four year
- 34:17Speaker 2: old brother got to eat. I would see the older sibling,
- 34:20Speaker 2: usually of three or four, that would come up, and
- 34:24Speaker 2: he would get the first plate, he'd give it to
- 34:26Speaker 2: the littlest one and send them on their way. Then
- 34:28Speaker 2: he'd get the next one, he give it to the
- 34:30Speaker 2: next littlest one, and then and then he would take
- 34:32Speaker 2: the last one for his family, but only if the
- 34:34Speaker 2: other three, you know, got theirs first. That's these kids
- 34:37Speaker 2: are so grateful. They have such immense gratitude for what's
- 34:42Speaker 2: happening here, and it just they wouldn't be able to
- 34:44Speaker 2: eat any other way. So here's what I want you
- 34:46Speaker 2: to do. I want you to ask yourself, can I
- 34:48Speaker 2: do the maximum good for what we need? Done right now.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Not just can I do something good and give a gift,
- 34:55Speaker 2: but if you give it now, it's going to be matched.
- 34:58Speaker 2: If you give it now, twis the number of children
- 35:01Speaker 2: will eat because you gave it now, and through the
- 35:04Speaker 2: rest of today's show, that match is in effect. So
- 35:08Speaker 2: can you do the maximum good now? Here's the phone
- 35:11Speaker 2: number eight five five nine oh seven four six seven three.
- 35:15Speaker 2: How quickly can we get all seven hundred and ten
- 35:18Speaker 2: children that remain fed. I'm on a mission. I want
- 35:22Speaker 2: to feed all seven hundred and ten of these kids
- 35:24Speaker 2: as fast as we can because we'll be feeding them
- 35:27Speaker 2: for the next year. But how quickly can we get
- 35:29Speaker 2: each name off the list? A five five nine oh
- 35:31Speaker 2: seven four six seven three or text hunger to five
- 35:35Speaker 2: to one five five five and we'll send you a
- 35:36Speaker 2: link back. You can give on your phone A five
- 35:39Speaker 2: five nine oh seven four six seven three or text
- 35:42Speaker 2: hunger to five one five five five eight five five
- 35:45Speaker 2: nine oh seven four six seven three.
- 35:46Speaker 8: Stick around for more of that, Kevin the next.
- 36:00Speaker 6: Serving it up with a no drink mittal. It's that
- 36:05Speaker 6: cabin show.
- 36:06Speaker 2: All right, friends. That number is eight five five nine
- 36:09Speaker 2: zero seven for six seven three. How many children can
- 36:12Speaker 2: we rescue this hour. We we've got a matching challenge
- 36:16Speaker 2: in play. Someone's gonna come up and match everything we do,
- 36:18Speaker 2: and I want to maximize that opportunity to do the
- 36:21Speaker 2: most good possible eight five five nine oh seven for
- 36:24Speaker 2: six seven three eight five five nine zero seven for
- 36:27Speaker 2: six seven three. All right. For whatever reason, the audio
- 36:34Speaker 2: that I anticipated playing there is not playing so well.
- 36:37Speaker 2: We'll come back to that. But what we were going
- 36:40Speaker 2: to do right there, Danny Patino was tell the story
- 36:44Speaker 2: of chauvelin uh. And this is one of those moms
- 36:47Speaker 2: that you guys, and I want to say to your
- 36:49Speaker 2: credit and to let kind of brag on you guys
- 36:52Speaker 2: to my audience. Food for the Poor is not one
- 36:54Speaker 2: of these groups that just sits in the US and
- 36:56Speaker 2: you know, stays in its building and twiddles its fingers
- 36:59Speaker 2: or anything like. You guys go to the field constantly,
- 37:03Speaker 2: quality controlling the process, making sure that the pastors that
- 37:06Speaker 2: you're working with have all the resources that they need.
- 37:10Speaker 2: You set up your entire delivery system not through in
- 37:13Speaker 2: goos or through government programs, but through networks of pastors
- 37:18Speaker 2: because they are the reliable, trusted leaders in their communities.
- 37:22Speaker 2: And this is how this is one of the ways
- 37:24Speaker 2: that food for the poor ensures that what we give
- 37:27Speaker 2: to actually happens.
- 37:28Speaker 9: Yeah, we're stepping up our our forty fourth year trying
- 37:32Speaker 9: to break this cycle of poverty, transforming lives in Latin
- 37:35Speaker 9: America and the Caribbean in fifteen countries, to be exact,
- 37:38Speaker 9: and we can only do that by vetting our partners,
- 37:41Speaker 9: trusting people with this idea of or this mission of
- 37:45Speaker 9: relieving poverty and getting the folks the help they need
- 37:49Speaker 9: right away.
- 37:50Speaker 3: And I wanted to talk about Chauvelein. Chauvelin was a twelve.
- 37:53Speaker 9: Year old girl we met in Haiti and her morning
- 37:55Speaker 9: routine is in breakfast and homework. Like most of our children,
- 37:59Speaker 9: it's a law walk to a muddy river. And we
- 38:03Speaker 9: asked her what does it taste like? What does that
- 38:05Speaker 9: water taste like? Well, she says it tastes like mud.
- 38:07Speaker 9: I mean, it was a simple answer. But we don't
- 38:10Speaker 9: drink that kind of water. We don't know what that's like.
- 38:12Speaker 9: And she is living in that that's to her reality.
- 38:15Speaker 9: And she she mentioned to us it gives her a
- 38:17Speaker 9: stomach ache and she knows it isn't safe. And at
- 38:20Speaker 9: twelve years old, folks, she's already choosing between dehydration and illness,
- 38:25Speaker 9: and she chooses illness because I'm not gonna die of dehydration,
- 38:30Speaker 9: but because it means, it leads, it means to survival,
- 38:34Speaker 9: and that walk is more than carrying water, and it's
- 38:37Speaker 9: carrying loss of hours, hours that she should be spent
- 38:40Speaker 9: learning being a beautiful little girl, and those hours should
- 38:42Speaker 9: be spent playing, and those are slowly, slowly getting subtracted
- 38:47Speaker 9: from her future.
- 38:49Speaker 2: We don't have no no.
- 38:52Speaker 3: I wanted to talk, I wanted to put you there.
- 38:54Speaker 2: But yeah, and that is exactly friends. The mindset. It's
- 38:58Speaker 2: so foreign, by the way, to what we wake up to.
- 39:01Speaker 2: I mean, Daniel, you're in Florida, so he didn't have
- 39:04Speaker 2: this this weekend, but everybody here in the Tri state
- 39:07Speaker 2: area we complained about how frozen we were and how cold,
- 39:11Speaker 2: and I was thinking about just on my lawn alone,
- 39:14Speaker 2: twenty eight inches of snow that hasn't moved in three
- 39:17Speaker 2: weeks that could be melted down into a lot of
- 39:20Speaker 2: really clean drinking water, but we don't need it. And
- 39:23Speaker 2: we complain about the stuff that we have that we
- 39:26Speaker 2: probably should be more grateful for. And so as you
- 39:30Speaker 2: hear the story of Chauvelin, as you hear the story
- 39:32Speaker 2: of the seven year old boy who can't eat because
- 39:36Speaker 2: it's not his turn, it's not his day. He doesn't
- 39:38Speaker 2: get to eat that day. Friends, this is why Food
- 39:41Speaker 2: for the Poor and I've never worked with a group
- 39:43Speaker 2: that I've loved doing this with more than them. They
- 39:46Speaker 2: are the very best as far as I'm concerned. But
- 39:49Speaker 2: you can absolutely trust every dollar that's going and you
- 39:52Speaker 2: can trust that it's going to go to what we
- 39:54Speaker 2: are talking about. We are feeding children every day two
- 39:58Speaker 2: meals a day. That's seven one hundred plus meals in
- 40:01Speaker 2: twenty twenty six, and as much clean drinking water as
- 40:04Speaker 2: they can consume. Friends, that for seventy five dollars for
- 40:08Speaker 2: one child. For that you can't you can't match that.
- 40:11Speaker 2: That's a value beyond value. And now, right now, through
- 40:13Speaker 2: the end of today's show, every single child we care
- 40:17Speaker 2: for is going to be matched by a private friend
- 40:19Speaker 2: of Food for the Poor. Just wanting to challenge you
- 40:22Speaker 2: to do better? Can we do? Can we do an
- 40:25Speaker 2: amazing thing in the rest of this show today and
- 40:28Speaker 2: get as many of these children cared for as possible?
- 40:30Speaker 2: Eight five, five, nine oh seven four six seven, three
- 40:33Speaker 2: hour two on the way.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Somewhere in the bowels of the City that Never sleeps.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Kevin mccollo, radio host with Salem Media, is a man
- 40:55Speaker 2: also not sleeping.
- 40:56Speaker 5: Okay, radio chop show.
- 40:57Speaker 4: That's Kevin and the Color and done God, I would
- 41:00Speaker 4: like a word with you.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Many of you know him whom as votes for Damas.
- 41:04Speaker 5: Of course, that Kevin Show is going to be great.
- 41:06Speaker 2: The only thing that could be greater, of course, would
- 41:08Speaker 2: be that Donald Show. But we don't have that.
- 41:09Speaker 4: So we have That Kevin Show featuring the music of
- 41:13Speaker 4: Dick Tunney and the Dream in Color Orchestraw, straight.
- 41:26Speaker 1: Ahead, everything you need to know about the top headlines
- 41:30Speaker 1: of the day and a perspective that will give you
- 41:33Speaker 1: some eternity to it. Plus practical tips for family life,
- 41:38Speaker 1: spiritual life.
- 41:39Speaker 2: And good old regular life.
- 41:42Speaker 1: It's Kevin McCullough Monday through Friday on That Kevin Show
- 41:53Speaker 1: and now from the Connors in Sullivan Broadcast Studios.
- 41:57Speaker 2: The man who is.
- 41:58Speaker 1: Not what he wants to be, but is way grateful
- 42:01Speaker 1: that is not who he used to be.
- 42:04Speaker 2: Here. Thank you David Pipes, thank you Lonnie Perkins, Tanika Gentry,
- 42:12Speaker 2: Alex Garrett, Matthew, Sam Bullen, everybody that has anything to
- 42:16Speaker 2: do with putting this show together on a daily basis,
- 42:18Speaker 2: I am so grateful for each of you. And that
- 42:20Speaker 2: last line is true. I am very grateful that you know.
- 42:26Speaker 2: I'm not where I used to be in terms of
- 42:28Speaker 2: who I am as a person and what I do
- 42:30Speaker 2: as a dad and all those types of things. But
- 42:33Speaker 2: I am so so much more grateful that I am
- 42:36Speaker 2: not who I once was. I'm not where I want
- 42:39Speaker 2: to be, but I'm so grateful I'm not where I
- 42:41Speaker 2: used to be. And that's the beauty of grace. In
- 42:43Speaker 2: the life of a follower of Jesus. You can look
- 42:47Speaker 2: at every single day that you walk through when you
- 42:51Speaker 2: can say to yourself, thank you, thank you Lord for
- 42:55Speaker 2: not letting me still be who I was then. And
- 42:59Speaker 2: we're not. We're not going to be in this life
- 43:02Speaker 2: on this planet in this time. We're not going to
- 43:06Speaker 2: be the fully sanctified person that we will be when
- 43:09Speaker 2: we are in the presence of Jesus forever. That complete
- 43:14Speaker 2: and full and total sanctification doesn't happen until the other
- 43:18Speaker 2: side of leaving this world and joining that one. But
- 43:23Speaker 2: by knowing His son, you can begin to see tangible
- 43:26Speaker 2: sanctification happen, sometimes even to your own mystery, sometimes even
- 43:32Speaker 2: to your own surprise. And I have that happen all
- 43:35Speaker 2: the time. I have things come into my mind that
- 43:37Speaker 2: I would have never thought about previously, and then all
- 43:40Speaker 2: of a sudden, it's where did that come from? That
- 43:43Speaker 2: came from the Holy Spirit at work in my heart,
- 43:47Speaker 2: in my mind at a time when I was open
- 43:50Speaker 2: to it. And before we know Jesus, before we walk
- 43:54Speaker 2: with Jesus, before we are redeemed by Jesus, before we
- 43:58Speaker 2: give our life to him, we have no clue what
- 44:01Speaker 2: that's like. We can't we can't conjure it up in
- 44:05Speaker 2: our own efforts. There's no way that we can create
- 44:07Speaker 2: it apart from Him. So to say, uh, he's he's
- 44:13Speaker 2: not what he wants to be, but he's so grateful.
- 44:16Speaker 2: He's not who he used to be. That is such
- 44:18Speaker 2: an understatement of what God has done in my life
- 44:21Speaker 2: and I and I want to live every day now
- 44:24Speaker 2: with you here. Just got to call last hour for
- 44:27Speaker 2: somebody from California that called the show and just said, Hey,
- 44:29Speaker 2: I just love the show, keV. Thanks, I'm humbled by that.
- 44:33Speaker 2: I want to I want to I want to meet
- 44:35Speaker 2: you where you are. I want to be a friend
- 44:37Speaker 2: in your life. I want to walk through this next
- 44:39Speaker 2: stage of life together, and I want to do so
- 44:43Speaker 2: earning every bit of your trust along the way. It's
- 44:46Speaker 2: we're still early in the journey, and there's lots of
- 44:48Speaker 2: new stations coming on board constantly. That I'm just I'm
- 44:51Speaker 2: surprised by my hometown where I was. Well, it's not
- 44:54Speaker 2: my hometown. I never really lived there. My mom lived
- 44:56Speaker 2: there for a while in college. Uh, but spring Missouri.
- 45:01Speaker 2: My mom was a student at the Baptist Bible College there,
- 45:06Speaker 2: and that's as fundamentalist as it sounds like. They didn't
- 45:09Speaker 2: the women couldn't wear pants. I mean it was. It
- 45:11Speaker 2: was one of those places. But I was. She had
- 45:14Speaker 2: me when she was in Springfield, and then I grew
- 45:17Speaker 2: up in Texas. But Springfield, Missouri, you're online now, so
- 45:19Speaker 2: thank you, thank you for coming on board. And our
- 45:22Speaker 2: station of the week is WPEO in Peoria, Illinois. It's
- 45:26Speaker 2: the whole center and southern section of the state. And
- 45:31Speaker 2: they didn't put me on where Eric's show used to be.
- 45:36Speaker 2: It's not that I would have minded. I mean twelve
- 45:38Speaker 2: to midnight, I mean twelve midnight to two am. I'm
- 45:41Speaker 2: sure Eric was killing it, but they put me on
- 45:43Speaker 2: where Charlie was and so when I got news of that,
- 45:47Speaker 2: I'm like, thank you, Lord, But that's an even bigger
- 45:50Speaker 2: set of shoes to try to step into. So if
- 45:52Speaker 2: you're in Peori and you're listening, if you're in Springfield,
- 45:54Speaker 2: if you're in Bismarck, North Dakota, just some of the
- 45:57Speaker 2: new places we're in this week, I'm so grateful for
- 46:00Speaker 2: every single one of you, wherever you are. And New York,
- 46:03Speaker 2: I see you too. I didn't forget about you. Tanika
- 46:06Speaker 2: was telling me stories about this weekend at the Enough conference,
- 46:09Speaker 2: and I heard and heard all about how some of
- 46:11Speaker 2: you ladies were asking about the k Meister. Yeah. I
- 46:15Speaker 2: wasn't there, sorry, but I heard that Pastor Jamal and
- 46:18Speaker 2: first Lady Rita did a great job. So and Laura
- 46:21Speaker 2: and the whole game were there, so and Lady t
- 46:23Speaker 2: was there, so you know, it was all good. This week,
- 46:27Speaker 2: I'm introducing you to some new friends, and today I'm
- 46:29Speaker 2: so excited to have them joining me from the international
- 46:33Speaker 2: world headquarters of a group called Food for the Poor.
- 46:36Speaker 2: And it's as impressive as it sounds because they have
- 46:38Speaker 2: their own broadcast facility. It's like their state of the
- 46:41Speaker 2: art there. But Paul Jacobs and Danny Patino were back
- 46:44Speaker 2: with us, and Danny got to talk all first hour Paul,
- 46:47Speaker 2: So I'm kind of thinking you're gonna get like ninety
- 46:49Speaker 2: percent of this hour. But thanks, thanks for jumping in
- 46:53Speaker 2: with us, and thanks for being here.
- 46:55Speaker 11: I'm just surprised at I'm surprised that Lady T gets
- 47:00Speaker 11: a nickname, but mister P doesn't get a nickname.
- 47:02Speaker 3: I want to be mister J.
- 47:03Speaker 2: I'm never gonna call anybody. I'm not gonna call anybody
- 47:05Speaker 2: mister P. You you actually want to be called mister P.
- 47:09Speaker 2: That's not you probably want to be called doctor J.
- 47:13Speaker 2: But no, we're not gonna do that either. I don't
- 47:16Speaker 2: think you can jump as high.
- 47:18Speaker 11: Let me tell you, we've known each other long enough
- 47:20Speaker 11: that you can call me anything, because the minute we
- 47:22Speaker 11: get back together, God moves. Because, uh, you know, it's interesting.
- 47:26Speaker 11: I was reminiscing with an old colleague of ours last
- 47:28Speaker 11: night talking about our days.
- 47:29Speaker 3: When we were in Haiti.
- 47:31Speaker 11: One of the things that is really striking to me
- 47:33Speaker 11: is and and a lot of people ask the question
- 47:35Speaker 11: what's going on in Haiti with Food for the Poor,
- 47:38Speaker 11: Because I see everything in the news. You see devastation,
- 47:41Speaker 11: you see civil unrest. Food for the Poor has never
- 47:44Speaker 11: been stronger. Hey, Danny, we hear you tapping on the microphone.
- 47:47Speaker 11: You can get your set, your turn and second.
- 47:49Speaker 3: Here just just in case I'm still here.
- 47:52Speaker 2: Go ahead, Paul.
- 47:53Speaker 11: Yeah, No, it's interesting because Food for the Poor is
- 47:56Speaker 11: has had to adapt. God has given us the grace, pastors,
- 48:00Speaker 11: ministry partners on the ground to adapt to what we're
- 48:03Speaker 11: doing because regardless of what you see in the news,
- 48:06Speaker 11: there are still families, there are still children, There are
- 48:09Speaker 11: still schools where those children in those schools must eat,
- 48:13Speaker 11: and you're.
- 48:14Speaker 3: An answer to that right now.
- 48:15Speaker 11: And that's where why we're back, biz Mark, That's why
- 48:17Speaker 11: we're back Peoria and Springfield because you may be hearing
- 48:20Speaker 11: us for the very first time, but there are many
- 48:22Speaker 11: audiences that know that there are tens of thousands of
- 48:25Speaker 11: children that has been helped through this broadcast, and there
- 48:28Speaker 11: are still just over seven hundred children left on our list.
- 48:32Speaker 3: We need your help to make sure that they get
- 48:34Speaker 3: access to that food and water.
- 48:35Speaker 2: That phone number is eight five five nine oh seven
- 48:38Speaker 2: four six seven three, and you guys can stop fighting
- 48:41Speaker 2: over your microphones now. I think we got everybody on
- 48:43Speaker 2: the right ones. But anyway, Paul, it's good to have
- 48:46Speaker 2: you back. And for those of you, yeah, that are
- 48:48Speaker 2: in places where you've not heard Kevin McColl in the past.
- 48:51Speaker 2: I've been working with Food for the Poor. I think
- 48:53Speaker 2: it's going on close to twenty years, maybe even no
- 48:56Speaker 2: longer than that, because I've been in the New York
- 48:58Speaker 2: market for nearly twenty four and we were together in
- 49:00Speaker 2: Chicago before that, so it's been it's been a long
- 49:03Speaker 2: and fruitful relationship. But here's the thing. I've traveled with
- 49:06Speaker 2: these guys. I've been to the places where the homes
- 49:09Speaker 2: have been built. I've been to these places where the
- 49:11Speaker 2: food is dispersed. I've been to the places where the
- 49:15Speaker 2: clean water systems have gone into place. And there is
- 49:18Speaker 2: nothing as brighter happy in my memory of all of
- 49:22Speaker 2: my Food for the Poor memories. And I've got stacks
- 49:24Speaker 2: of photos of where we've been. But I'll never forget
- 49:27Speaker 2: the time that we went to this brand new kids
- 49:31Speaker 2: school where all the kids were in their cute little
- 49:33Speaker 2: it was a girls' school, and they were all in
- 49:35Speaker 2: their little cute, little pink dresses, and they were, you know,
- 49:37Speaker 2: they lined up and they did songs for us. They
- 49:39Speaker 2: did all this stuff. And when they were done that,
- 49:41Speaker 2: one of them took me over to the to the
- 49:43Speaker 2: water system that they had we'd installed there, some of
- 49:46Speaker 2: our listeners had helped contribute to it. And she got
- 49:49Speaker 2: a little glass and she said, mister, and she took
- 49:53Speaker 2: some big drink and then she wipes her mouth with
- 49:55Speaker 2: the same hand that she had just drank her drink with,
- 49:58Speaker 2: and she goes, that's still is s water. And I thought,
- 50:03Speaker 2: how ungrateful a pig am I if I'm not grateful
- 50:06Speaker 2: for the delicious water I have to drink every day.
- 50:09Speaker 2: And she had to wait her whole life to get that,
- 50:11Speaker 2: you know, that one little beautiful sip of water. And friends,
- 50:14Speaker 2: we can provide that in so much more for all
- 50:17Speaker 2: the people that are in these seven hundred children's lives
- 50:21Speaker 2: that we want to we want to try to help
- 50:23Speaker 2: this year. So we're gonna talk more about it and
- 50:25Speaker 2: every gift given this hour, continuing that challenge I announced
- 50:28Speaker 2: last hour. It will continue through the end of the
- 50:30Speaker 2: hour eight five, five, nine oh seven, four six seven three.
- 50:54Speaker 6: Here he is from New York Fact Kevin, Kevin mccollor.
- 51:00Speaker 2: So glad to have you with us eight five five
- 51:02Speaker 2: nine oh seven four six seven three.
- 51:05Speaker 5: Al Miki, our coleris at school.
- 51:09Speaker 12: I didn't go to lunch.
- 51:10Speaker 2: I didn't have anything to take, so I stayed in
- 51:12Speaker 2: the classroom with my books and I didn't go out.
- 51:16Speaker 6: I avoided seeing other children eating.
- 51:18Speaker 5: Come on your home, so Lasima, customer, I've.
- 51:21Speaker 6: Gone accustomed to me, so yeah, and I've learned to
- 51:25Speaker 6: cope with it.
- 51:31Speaker 2: Learning to cope with being hungry seems like a very,
- 51:35Speaker 2: I don't know, very hard thing to come to understand.
- 51:39Speaker 2: Paul Jacobs and Danny Patino with Kevin McCullough here on
- 51:43Speaker 2: that Kevin Show for Today, and guys, I don't think
- 51:45Speaker 2: that there's anybody that I've never even heard that expression
- 51:49Speaker 2: be said before in American culture, to say that we're
- 51:53Speaker 2: going to build a tolerance against hunger in our own existence,
- 51:58Speaker 2: Like that's just it's so foreign to to the mind.
- 52:01Speaker 11: That's what happens when you were a little girl in Honduras,
- 52:04Speaker 11: where your life is day in and day out, going
- 52:06Speaker 11: with your father to the local garbage dump, a local
- 52:09Speaker 11: garbage dump where you forge through piles of trash with
- 52:12Speaker 11: other people have thrown away, hopefully to find a bottle.
- 52:14Speaker 11: It can something that you could sell to the recycler,
- 52:17Speaker 11: and the reality is that there are days that they
- 52:20Speaker 11: cannot and they will have to forage for their next meal.
- 52:24Speaker 3: That's Daniella's situation.
- 52:25Speaker 11: And when we were there visiting her, and before we
- 52:28Speaker 11: had this conversation, I remember one of the first things
- 52:30Speaker 11: that she told the team was that when I first
- 52:33Speaker 11: wake up in the morning, I first thought is food.
- 52:36Speaker 11: And of course, you know, you almost take it for granted.
- 52:39Speaker 11: You're like, of course, and we look at each other
- 52:41Speaker 11: and you're almost saying, we all, yes, we're all our
- 52:43Speaker 11: first thing is food. But when you peek into the
- 52:47Speaker 11: daily life of a girl in Honduras like Daniella, where
- 52:50Speaker 11: a garbage dump is your only respite to get food,
- 52:54Speaker 11: to get finances to buy food, it is a tragic nightmare.
- 52:58Speaker 11: But it can change right now with your generosity. A
- 53:02Speaker 11: committed gift of one hundred and fifty dollars will take
- 53:05Speaker 11: two children like Danielle and deliver them water in their
- 53:09Speaker 11: community and food for an entire year. And because there
- 53:12Speaker 11: is a match this hour, right now, your one hundred
- 53:16Speaker 11: and fifty dollars gift has twice the impact.
- 53:18Speaker 3: That's four children.
- 53:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it's really incredible, and I want to say thank you,
- 53:23Speaker 2: by the way to that friend of Food for the
- 53:25Speaker 2: Poor who stepped up and said, hey, during Kevin Show today,
- 53:29Speaker 2: every single gift being matched, we're going to feed twice
- 53:32Speaker 2: as many people today. Friends. This is where you've heard
- 53:35Speaker 2: me discuss this concept in the past, but it's important
- 53:38Speaker 2: to reiterate it because we've always got new people coming
- 53:40Speaker 2: to the show. Is doing something good better than not
- 53:44Speaker 2: doing anything? Well, it's doing something good better than doing
- 53:47Speaker 2: something bad. Yes, is doing something good better than doing nothing? Yes?
- 53:52Speaker 2: Is doing good better than doing something small that's good? Yes,
- 53:57Speaker 2: doing good is good on all of those levels. But
- 54:00Speaker 2: is doing good something that's good when you could do
- 54:03Speaker 2: the maximum good? Well? See now, it's just if you're
- 54:06Speaker 2: just doing what's good, you're missing out on the opportunity
- 54:09Speaker 2: to have the biggest impact. And what I want is
- 54:12Speaker 2: maximum good. And so when someone steps up and says, hey,
- 54:16Speaker 2: we're going to match every single bite of food that
- 54:19Speaker 2: you can put onto the plate this hour, every child
- 54:23Speaker 2: that gets fed, every name that gets taken off the list,
- 54:26Speaker 2: We're going to take another one off the list. I
- 54:29Speaker 2: want to do the maximum good. So here's what I
- 54:31Speaker 2: want to do, and I don't really care what your
- 54:35Speaker 2: means are. If you can give seventy five dollars and
- 54:38Speaker 2: feed one child, give that gift now, because it's going
- 54:41Speaker 2: to turn into two kids that are going to be helped.
- 54:43Speaker 2: But if you can give a gift of fifteen hundred
- 54:46Speaker 2: dollars and help many many children in the process, do
- 54:51Speaker 2: that now, because that turns into twice as many of
- 54:55Speaker 2: so in essence, three thousand dollars worth of help. If
- 54:57Speaker 2: you can do one hundred and fifty thousand dollars of
- 55:00Speaker 2: good right now, do that right now, because this is
- 55:05Speaker 2: the time, This is the moment. This is the place
- 55:07Speaker 2: where you can take what you can do. God compare
- 55:09Speaker 2: it with a generous heart that he is prepared somewhere else,
- 55:13Speaker 2: and together bringing them together, that does the maximum good,
- 55:17Speaker 2: the most good. And when you think about good in
- 55:20Speaker 2: the in the context of scripture, think about think about
- 55:23Speaker 2: the Book of James, think about the New Testament, think
- 55:25Speaker 2: about all the places where Paul and Jesus encourage us
- 55:29Speaker 2: to don't just go with your neighbor one, but extend it,
- 55:32Speaker 2: keep doing the good thing, keep reaching out, keep doing
- 55:36Speaker 2: what you can. And right now, the maximum good that
- 55:39Speaker 2: you can do is to give a gift of whatever
- 55:41Speaker 2: size the Lord puts on your heart, because at the
- 55:44Speaker 2: end of the day that's going to be doubled in
- 55:46Speaker 2: its impact. And eight five five nine oh seven four
- 55:49Speaker 2: six seven three is where you do that. Eight five
- 55:50Speaker 2: five nine zero seven four six seven three. Now, if
- 55:53Speaker 2: you if you don't want to talk to someone, if
- 55:55Speaker 2: you're a real hermit crab Mike, if you're an antisocial
- 55:58Speaker 2: person like Paul, he's very anti social. Paul doesn't lie.
- 56:01Speaker 3: I resemble that remark.
- 56:04Speaker 2: He's not friendly. It never goes to Starbucks and ask
- 56:07Speaker 2: for like the gingerbread take and get to know the
- 56:09Speaker 2: people while he's eating at That never happens. But if
- 56:13Speaker 2: you're if you're if you're not like Paul, if I mean,
- 56:15Speaker 2: if you are like Paul and you're antisocial and you
- 56:17Speaker 2: don't want to talk to someone on the phone, then
- 56:19Speaker 2: do it in private. A text hunger to five to
- 56:21Speaker 2: one five five five will send you a link back,
- 56:24Speaker 2: and at that link you can just click it. You
- 56:26Speaker 2: can make your gift. And if you give it this
- 56:28Speaker 2: hour it's going to count towards the big goal, the
- 56:31Speaker 2: goal of seven hundred and twenty kids, which, by the way,
- 56:34Speaker 2: when we started in the in the first few minutes,
- 56:36Speaker 2: we had ten that we're taking care of like right away.
- 56:38Speaker 2: So now we're we're just a little over seven hundred
- 56:41Speaker 2: children that that still need to be spoken for. But
- 56:44Speaker 2: will you speak for some right now? Eight five five
- 56:47Speaker 2: nine oh seven four six seven three or hunger to
- 56:49Speaker 2: five to one five five five And if you if
- 56:51Speaker 2: you just want to go online and check out even more,
- 56:53Speaker 2: go to that kevinshow dot com. Click the Food for
- 56:55Speaker 2: the Poor banner should be at the top of the
- 56:57Speaker 2: page and find out more of what you're doing there.
- 56:59Speaker 2: But paul I was talking with Danny about this in
- 57:01Speaker 2: the last hour, and that is food for the poor
- 57:05Speaker 2: is not It's Christ's centered. It doesn't it doesn't shy
- 57:09Speaker 2: away from representing Jesus in the marketplace. And you do
- 57:13Speaker 2: that in a couple of ways. One, you do it
- 57:15Speaker 2: with such integrity that even nash nations like Jamaica, when
- 57:20Speaker 2: they had the hurricane this last year, the government came
- 57:24Speaker 2: to you guys and said, can you help us get
- 57:28Speaker 2: the supplies out to the people that need it because
- 57:30Speaker 2: we don't have the distribution center. You guys do. You
- 57:33Speaker 2: have this network of pastors in all the countries that
- 57:36Speaker 2: you work in, and that's the best way to know
- 57:38Speaker 2: that every one of these children that are on this
- 57:40Speaker 2: list are actually going to receive what we're saying they're
- 57:43Speaker 2: going to receive today, that's exactly right.
- 57:46Speaker 11: This Friday, we celebrate Food for the Poors forty fourth
- 57:49Speaker 11: anniversary of our Founder's Day. And it began forty four
- 57:54Speaker 11: years ago in a local church a promise, a commitment
- 57:57Speaker 11: to God that we would serve the lawd every single
- 58:01Speaker 11: day through the work of helping those who are the
- 58:04Speaker 11: least of these Matthew twenty five, forty and it is
- 58:07Speaker 11: now forty four years later translated into being a trusted
- 58:10Speaker 11: partner to pastors on the ground in the fifteen countries
- 58:14Speaker 11: where we serve, but also to the Governor of Jamaic,
- 58:16Speaker 11: Government of Jamaica, where more than half of the nation
- 58:19Speaker 11: of Jamaica was completely wiped out after Hurricane Melissa. I
- 58:22Speaker 11: was there on the ground for six days with our
- 58:24Speaker 11: disaster response team. And now three months later, you're talking
- 58:28Speaker 11: about the fruit of that relationship with God and the
- 58:31Speaker 11: fruit that has been benefiting those families one hundred and
- 58:35Speaker 11: eight thousand, over one hundred and eight thousand relief kits.
- 58:38Speaker 11: You're talking about more than sixty eight thousand food kits,
- 58:41Speaker 11: and that's sixty eight thousand families, not people.
- 58:44Speaker 3: Sixty eight thousand families.
- 58:45Speaker 11: You're talking about several thousand homes and more than sixty
- 58:50Speaker 11: eight thousand families and one hundred and eighty one containers
- 58:53Speaker 11: and shipments, all delivered through with the help of the
- 58:56Speaker 11: US government and the Jamaica Defense Force. But now Food
- 58:59Speaker 11: for the Poor or has become the backbone of the
- 59:01Speaker 11: distribution for all other NGOs coming in to rebuild the
- 59:04Speaker 11: nation of Jamaica. That doesn't happen overnight. Then it doesn't
- 59:07Speaker 11: happen without a commitment to God. And that's why your
- 59:09Speaker 11: gift can be trusted to an organization like Food for
- 59:15Speaker 11: the Poor and pastors on the ground who are going
- 59:18Speaker 11: to stewart that gift and save lives. I never ask
- 59:21Speaker 11: my listeners to do anything that I'm not willing to do,
- 59:24Speaker 11: and so I don't tell you this those of you
- 59:26Speaker 11: listening now to in any way brag or bring attention
- 59:30Speaker 11: to myself. But I just want you to know transparently,
- 59:33Speaker 11: my family and I have given to Food for the
- 59:37Speaker 11: Poor consistently over the years for various projects, from building
- 59:40Speaker 11: homes to feeding programs to all kinds of things, because
- 59:44Speaker 11: because of the integrity, because of what we see when
- 59:48Speaker 11: I've been in theater with Paul, with Danny's team, with
- 59:51Speaker 11: other people that have been there, when I've been in
- 59:54Speaker 11: nation with them and have seen with my own eyes.
- 59:56Speaker 11: And I'll tell you one quick story. A few years ago,
- 1:00:02Speaker 11: we were in Haiti and we got on to the
- 1:00:06Speaker 11: van and we started driving, and we went out of
- 1:00:09Speaker 11: the town that we were staying in and we went
- 1:00:11Speaker 11: up into the countryside and we went we drove for
- 1:00:13Speaker 11: a while. I don't think we got very far, but
- 1:00:15Speaker 11: we went a long ways. And when we got to
- 1:00:18Speaker 11: where kind of the road ended, we got out of
- 1:00:21Speaker 11: the van and then walked for like another two miles.
- 1:00:24Speaker 11: And when we got to the end of where we
- 1:00:25Speaker 11: were walking to, there was a town and it was
- 1:00:27Speaker 11: kind of like it was like an abandoned area of
- 1:00:30Speaker 11: the island because there used to be more produce production
- 1:00:34Speaker 11: in that region and so forth. And we get to
- 1:00:36Speaker 11: this little school, well, it's like a church slash school
- 1:00:39Speaker 11: structure kind of like cinderblock construction, and inside was an
- 1:00:45Speaker 11: elderly man who was kind of teaching young people, and
- 1:00:48Speaker 11: I could sense that it was a school class that
- 1:00:50Speaker 11: was going on. I don't know six seven eight kids
- 1:00:52Speaker 11: in there. And when we come back, I want to
- 1:00:55Speaker 11: tell you about my own personal experience with food for
- 1:00:58Speaker 11: the poor in that region and why I know that
- 1:01:01Speaker 11: your gift can be trusted today eight five five nine
- 1:01:03Speaker 11: oh seven four six seven three. Paul Jacobs, Danny Patino
- 1:01:07Speaker 11: and Kevin McCullough are so grateful to be.
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: With you, but we're asking you to help us rescue
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: as many of these children as we can. Seven hundred
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: of them need food for a year and water for
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: the foreseeable future. You can give that all to a
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: child for seventy five dollars. And if you call this hour,
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: every child that you pledge for, someone else is gonna
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: step up and match it. Eight five five nine zero
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: seven four six seven three. Stay right here, let's stick
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: around for more of that.
- 1:01:36Speaker 12: Kevin next.
- 1:01:53Speaker 6: Here, he is from New York.
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: Is that Kevin. Kevin McCullough, grateful to have you with us.
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: Eight five five nine zero seven four six seven three
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: that's the number by which you can help save a
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: starving child's life literally, and not just with the kind
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: of because a lot of these organizations pull up and that, oh,
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: we're going to give you a meal a day. Wow,
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: aren't you grateful? Haha? No, no, No, Food for the
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: Poor knows that a couple of meals a day is
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: what it needs to really be to help children. And
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: so every one of these kids that we're talking about,
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: your seventy five dollars gift for that child is going
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: to deliver two meals per day for the next year
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: and all the clean drinking water that they can consume,
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: which is which they need that as well. I mean,
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: think about what you spend for a bottle of Poland
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: spring or you know, the Walmart brand, Like if you
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: were me, like you know, Wegmans. Okay, whatever the cheapest is,
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: that's what I buy. But it's still like a couple
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: of bucks per you know, every eight or sixteen ounces,
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: and that wouldn't satisfy in this circumstance at all. So
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: you're getting a lot of value physical value for the money.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: But rejoining us our Danny Patino and okay, he asked
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: for it, mister p Yes, you can live with that
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: one friend. Anyway, I was telling people about our trip
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: to Codwa. Before we left Codwa, was this little town
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: that we drove. After we drove one hundred and fifty
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: days into the wilderness, we then got out of the
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: truck and walked another three days in the wilderness. And
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: when we got to the other side, it was really
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: just a couple miles. But when we got to the
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: other side there was this little schoolhouse and the pastor
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: of the town, whose name is slipping me, but I'm
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: sure mister p remembers Pastor Joseph. Pastor Joseph, and he
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: says he welcomes us, and we're talking and we're asking
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: how hard it is to teach school to kids, particularly
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: in this remote region. And I forget what the crop was.
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: Maybe you remember, Paul Kane. Sugarcane had been there was
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: a processing plant in the region, and they had grown
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: massive amounts of sugar cane. But because of the storms,
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: the hurricanes and some other things, that had all been
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: wiped out, and so this town that had mostly relied
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: on that for its existence was just shriveling up. And
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: these kids, one of them was trying to get a
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: drink of water out of this putrid and I don't
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: use that word lightly, but this putrid watering hole behind
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: the school where I had seen a dog just walk
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: through it and do its business and then move on.
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: And this kid was going to drink some water out
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: of it, and I just it was so heart wrenching
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: to watch this. And so I came back to my
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: New York audience. We were just on in New York
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: at the time, and I told them all about Codway,
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: I told them about these kids. I told them about
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: this mom that was trying to cook stuff inside of
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: this hut that she had was not really a house,
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: it was more like a hut, but she was like
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: using manure as fuel to cook the food. And it
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: was like it was so everything about it was it
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: just wrenched my heart from one end to the other.
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: And we told the listeners in New York about it,
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: and they and they caught fire. They caught the vision.
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: They said, this is how we can help. And one
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: year later, we go back, Paul, you go back and
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: fill Boyce's with me at that time, and we and
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: we go together and we see a water purification system operating,
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: and we see moms that have kids that have put
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: a little weight on now because they've been getting feeding
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: for the last year, and we see a cleaned up
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: village that has a lot more like activity going, like
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: it just come back to life simply because they had
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: clean water and a little bit of food for their kids.
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: And it wasn't that the adults were They were still
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: out trying to work and do gardens and do all
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: the stuff they could do. But the difference was day
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: and night in just one year. In just one year,
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: and when I think Paul about there had to be
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: what maybe thirty or four kids in that village, Imagine
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: now that time's seventy and eighty and one hundred, which
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: is the number of kids we're trying to feed this
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: year and get clean water for, and the difference it's
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: going to make in their life. That's my tangible remembrance
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: of how Food for the Poor works at its best
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: with the people that we're talking to today, the listeners
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: who make it happen, and I want to multiply that
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: for all seven hundred and twenty kids that we're trying
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: to reach this year.
- 1:06:25Speaker 11: The three hour journey to Kadua Haiti was nothing compared
- 1:06:28Speaker 11: to the thirty year journey that Pastor Joseph prayed for
- 1:06:32Speaker 11: his community to receive resources. And then what was really
- 1:06:36Speaker 11: striking to me was the prayer and the scripture he
- 1:06:40Speaker 11: prayed Isaiah fifty five, verse five, Behold, a nation shall
- 1:06:45Speaker 11: call you, shall call a nation that you do not know,
- 1:06:48Speaker 11: A nation that does not know you, shall run to you,
- 1:06:51Speaker 11: because the Lord, your God, of the Holy One of
- 1:06:53Speaker 11: Israel has glorified you. There are more kadwa eighties. There
- 1:06:58Speaker 11: are more communities that have pastors that are on their
- 1:07:01Speaker 11: knees for their families and for the families that they serve.
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: In the communities.
- 1:07:06Speaker 11: There are more mothers that are with their children boiling
- 1:07:10Speaker 11: rocks in hope that their children will fall asleep out
- 1:07:14Speaker 11: of sheer desperation because they don't have food that they
- 1:07:18Speaker 11: can put in their bellies, but they can at least
- 1:07:21Speaker 11: give them some sense that there's hope for tomorrow. Your
- 1:07:24Speaker 11: gift answers that prayer of hope.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: Eight five five nine zero seven four six seven three
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: eight fiy five nine zero seven four six seven three.
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: And Danny Patino, this is this is all throughout Central
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: and South America. I mean Guatemala, Honduras, Al Salvador. They
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: all have similar challenges to Haiti.
- 1:07:45Speaker 9: They do, and especially the folks that we visit in
- 1:07:48Speaker 9: Latin America and the Caribbean. Like you said, they all
- 1:07:51Speaker 9: kind of have the same story, but they speak a
- 1:07:53Speaker 9: different language, different cultures, but it's the same idea.
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: At the end of the day.
- 1:07:57Speaker 9: As a parent, you want to feed your children, you
- 1:07:59Speaker 9: want them to have a future better than what's going
- 1:08:01Speaker 9: on right now. And that's that one little push that
- 1:08:04Speaker 9: these families get to have. When folks like you that
- 1:08:07Speaker 9: you're listening right now, step into their lives and answer
- 1:08:10Speaker 9: their prayers and you have that little push to finally
- 1:08:13Speaker 9: get them out of that cycle of poverty that we
- 1:08:15Speaker 9: want to just break.
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: It makes us much differences, such a.
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: Difference just that just that little knowledge that that meal
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: and that clean water is coming, and I saw it
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: from myself in Coadua, and I know that that that
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: same thing can happen all over Central and South America
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: this year. Eight five five nine oh seven four six
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: seven three.
- 1:08:53Speaker 6: Here he is from New York, That Kevin, Kevin McCullough.
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: All right. The phone number is eight five to five
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: nine zero seven four six seven three eight, five, five,
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: nine zero seven four six seven three. What we are
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: doing is very simple. We are feeding children who will
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: likely die without the food that we get for them,
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: and we are providing clean drinking water. And Paul, we
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: were talking about the situation in Codwa, but it's really
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: kind of universally true for all the countries that food
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: for the poor works in. The necessity for clean water
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: is paramount, if not more important than the necessity of
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: abundant food. And the reason that's the case is because
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: the water supplies are just so polluted where many of
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: these children live.
- 1:09:43Speaker 11: That's exactly right. Not only the fact that there is
- 1:09:46Speaker 11: are these are communities that are in far reaching areas.
- 1:09:49Speaker 11: I was meet in the area just outside of Sound
- 1:09:52Speaker 11: Petro School of Honduras on my last trip to Honduras,
- 1:09:54Speaker 11: and we were in took about thirty minutes to drive
- 1:09:58Speaker 11: up to this remote community in the and we met Erlinda.
- 1:10:02Speaker 11: She's a mother, she has small children, she takes care
- 1:10:07Speaker 11: of her own elderly mother who cannot care for herself,
- 1:10:09Speaker 11: and she works seven days a week. And when I
- 1:10:12Speaker 11: asked her where does she get her water from? She
- 1:10:15Speaker 11: brought me to a basically this little area of this
- 1:10:18Speaker 11: dirt floor, and it was a bunch of empty buckets.
- 1:10:21Speaker 11: And then she took me to the edge of her
- 1:10:23Speaker 11: property and down this hill almost equidistant to where we
- 1:10:28Speaker 11: just drove up in a vehicle. She says, that's where
- 1:10:31Speaker 11: I walk and I fill this up, and I carry
- 1:10:34Speaker 11: it back sometimes several times a day, not only for me,
- 1:10:37Speaker 11: but for my children, excuse me, for my mother. And
- 1:10:40Speaker 11: I asked her, what is your greatest prayer? And I
- 1:10:41Speaker 11: thought she wanted a standing pipe. I thought she wanted
- 1:10:44Speaker 11: some more food, She maybe wanted a better job. And
- 1:10:48Speaker 11: she says, no, I just want the strength that I
- 1:10:50Speaker 11: can care for my family. That's her greatest prayer. But
- 1:10:54Speaker 11: you can aid that prayer right now by making sure
- 1:10:57Speaker 11: that she can feed her children and get safe water
- 1:11:00Speaker 11: right there where she lives.
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: It's really incredible eight five five nine zero seven four
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: six seventy three. How opposite that mindset is of those
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: of us here in the States, isn't it. I mean,
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: such conviction we would we would ask for, you know,
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: a garbage disposal. We would ask for cruise control on
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: our car. We would ask for all kinds of things
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: that people that live in those circumstances can't even begin
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: to fathom because they've never known a moment's rest, much
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: less luxury. And friends. Take that for the criticism that
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: it might be of our culture. It's not that it's
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: bad for us to have nice things or things that
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: make our life more convenient. But when it comes to
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: the measure of our heart, and we know about these needs,
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: and we say, well what about them? Well what about them?
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: What are we doing for Erlinda to help her get
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: that clean drinking water so that she and her mother
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: and her kids can have a little bit of a
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: little bit of hope in their life, a little bit
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: of a different outlook and it can happen. I mean,
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: if we can get clean drinking water everywhere in North America,
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: we can get it everywhere in South America and Central America.
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: And food for the poor. There's no group of people
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: that do a better job, in my opinion, in terms
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: of the integrity of the work delivering what needs to
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: be delivered, helping the families that need help, and how
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: many times over again, Danny, as you've gone from country
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: to country, have you noticed that the dirt inside the
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: doorway is the dirt the same dirt that's outside the doorway.
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: And these families have so very little compared to what
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: we have, and yet the gratitude that they show when
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: given even a small amount of help is just overwhelming.
- 1:12:49Speaker 9: Well, imagine a parent having just a struggle through every day,
- 1:12:55Speaker 9: from finding your next meal, to don't drink that water
- 1:12:57Speaker 9: because that's going to make you sick, to when it rains,
- 1:13:00Speaker 9: mean the bed that you sleep in is getting wet
- 1:13:03Speaker 9: because there's holes in the roof and the tin roof
- 1:13:05Speaker 9: and the zinc roofs that these homes put together, any
- 1:13:09Speaker 9: scraps that they can find, they put it on the house,
- 1:13:12Speaker 9: just to protect them from the elements, from the bugs,
- 1:13:14Speaker 9: from the water, from things that they're trying to keep
- 1:13:16Speaker 9: out even though they're still going to come in through some.
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: Holes some way.
- 1:13:21Speaker 9: Is just a devastating reality that these folks are having
- 1:13:24Speaker 9: to endure on a daily basis. And that's why we
- 1:13:28Speaker 9: come here to talk to your audience and let them
- 1:13:31Speaker 9: know that they can step into those lives by providing
- 1:13:33Speaker 9: a meal, by providing clean water source. And we call
- 1:13:38Speaker 9: it the basics of life. These aren't basis of life
- 1:13:40Speaker 9: for you and I. There's just they're part of our day.
- 1:13:43Speaker 9: We go on in our kitchens, we go on our bathrooms,
- 1:13:45Speaker 9: we turn on the water and sometimes we probably.
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: Leave them on and we just don't care.
- 1:13:49Speaker 9: But for the families that we're helping in the fifteen
- 1:13:51Speaker 9: countries of Latin America and the Caribbean here at Food
- 1:13:54Speaker 9: for the Poor, their reality is having that one more meal.
- 1:13:58Speaker 9: And when you talk about having to worry about your
- 1:14:01Speaker 9: bed now being soaked by the rain, and that the
- 1:14:04Speaker 9: bed is not a complete bed that you and I have, again,
- 1:14:07Speaker 9: these are folks that are putting together a bed from scraps,
- 1:14:11Speaker 9: sheets that of course are not going to be washed.
- 1:14:14Speaker 9: Elements like boxes, any trash that can be saved, are
- 1:14:18Speaker 9: put in that bed to resemble some type of bed,
- 1:14:21Speaker 9: someplace that they don't have to sleep other than the floor.
- 1:14:24Speaker 9: And sometimes the floor is actually more comfortable than the
- 1:14:27Speaker 9: beds because they don't they don't have anything else other
- 1:14:30Speaker 9: than what they have in front of them, which is
- 1:14:32Speaker 9: not a lot. And we step into these homes and
- 1:14:35Speaker 9: these families, even though they don't have anything, they still
- 1:14:38Speaker 9: offer something. Hey, here, I have this this little fruit
- 1:14:43Speaker 9: that I just got is if you, if you want
- 1:14:46Speaker 9: to eat it, we can share it. We know, and
- 1:14:48Speaker 9: they played it for you, and I sometimes I can't
- 1:14:50Speaker 9: say no because this, for us, it's one banana. For
- 1:14:53Speaker 9: a family that can't get anything other than that, it's
- 1:14:57Speaker 9: a precious item. It's something that for them is sharing
- 1:15:02Speaker 9: their life with us. And that's where we that's where
- 1:15:07Speaker 9: we step in and we say no more. This is
- 1:15:10Speaker 9: this is not a reality you should be living in.
- 1:15:12Speaker 9: This is not something that you should be on a daily.
- 1:15:15Speaker 9: This is not something you should be struggling on a daily.
- 1:15:17Speaker 9: And when I speak to the parents, it hurts even more.
- 1:15:20Speaker 9: I'm a parent myself of two, so having to understand
- 1:15:22Speaker 9: a dad's.
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: Reality, a mom's reality, having to.
- 1:15:25Speaker 9: Step away and cry because they can't provide anything else
- 1:15:28Speaker 9: of what they have there.
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: That's not that's not how we, anybody sho to live.
- 1:15:34Speaker 9: And the fact that these folks are right now currently
- 1:15:37Speaker 9: living in that situation is unbearable. And that's why we
- 1:15:40Speaker 9: ask you right now to step into the lives of
- 1:15:41Speaker 9: these families and be that prayer, answer to that prayer
- 1:15:45Speaker 9: of one more meal, one more night. Where water is
- 1:15:49Speaker 9: not getting into our home, where it doesn't rain and
- 1:15:52Speaker 9: it floods our beds or our kitchens or anything that
- 1:15:55Speaker 9: is just remotely ours, because we can't have anything else
- 1:16:00Speaker 9: than what we have here in front.
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: Of us, and starting with the clean drinking water, and
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: starting with the food for the children in particular, is
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: hugely helpful. Friends, eight five five nine zero seven for
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: six seven three. Every child we take care of this
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: hour is going to be matched by a single friend
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: of food for the poor. Take advantage of that test,
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: that generosity. Put them to the test. Eight five five
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: nine zero seven four six seven three or type hunger
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: text hunger to five to one five five five. Kevin
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: McCullough coming back with some final thoughts. Don't go away,
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: stick around for more of that. Kevin the next serving
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: it up with a no drink mitt. It's that Kevin show,
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: all right. I want to say thanks to Paul and
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: Danny for your guys is being on the show today
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: and on board and tell us some stories. We'll talk
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: again tomorrow. But friends, I want to close today where
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: we started. We've gone full circle. First John, Chapter three,
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: first verse. See what kind of love the Father has
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: given to us? In the NIV, it's has lavished upon us.
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: See how much love he has lavished upon us that
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: we should be called the children of God, and so
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: we are. Let's settle that for a second. We're not tolerated,
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: we're not barely accepted, We're not reluctantly forgiven. We're called children.
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: We're loved, chosen, named, claimed by the creator of the universe.
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: And John goes on to say, beloved, we are God's
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: children now, and when he appears, we will be like him.
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: Everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: is pure. In other words, if you know who you
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: belong to, if you know whose child you are, it
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: changes how you live, It changes how you love, It
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: changes how you notice what you're willing to do, not
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: just walking past suffering, not just scrolling past pain, not
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: just shrugging at hunger, because children of God start looking
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: like their father, and our father feeds the hungry, Our
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: father heals the broken, He runs, not walks toward the hurting.
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: Which brings us to what we talked about the rest
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: of the show today. Food for the poor, not a charity,
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: a mission, a ministry, a lifeline. And together, right now, friends,
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: we have the chance to help seven hundred children for
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: an entire year, not a meal, not a week, not
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: a moment, a year, two meals a day, consistently giving dignity,
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: giving hope, and on top of that, clean drinking water
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: that's going to last for years, water that doesn't make
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: kids sick, it doesn't steal their future, it doesn't cut
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: them off in the prime of life. Friends, that's all
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: wrapped in the Gospel. Not just bread for the body,
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: but bread for life, for the soul. Not just water
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: for the thirsty, but living water for eternity. This is
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: what it looks like when faith gets shoes on. This
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: is what it looks like when Scripture moves off the
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: page and into our lives. Somewhere tonight in these countries,
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: that food for the poor works in. Children will go
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: to bed hungry. But if we step in, we can
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: end that. For Tomorrow night, somewhere tonight, a mother's going
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: to pray for clean water, and we can answer that prayer.
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: Somewhere tonight, a family's going to wonder if God even
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: sees who they are. But through you, through us, through
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: Paul and Danny and all of us together, through us,
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: he says, yes, I do see you. And friends, we
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: are blessed way more than we understand. We live in
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: warm homes, we turn on taps, we open refrigerators, We
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: choose between choices. Most of the world doesn't. And God
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: didn't bless us so we can be comfortable. He blessed
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: us so we could be conduits, you know, that thing
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: that connects electrical joints, so we can pass on the currency,
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: so that his currency, the currency of His love, to
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: the people who need it most. That's what we're supposed
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: to be conducting. So when John says, see what kind
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: of love the Father's given, he's inviting us to reflect it,
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: to live it, to show it, to give it, not
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: out of guilt, out of gratitude, not out of pressure,
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: out of purpose. That's what we're born for. And when
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: you give to food for the poor, you're feeding Christ,
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: you're serving Christ, you're honoring Christ. Jesus said it himself.
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: When you did it for the least of these, you
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: did it for me. So as we close today, if
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: God has stirred your heart, don't ignore it. If he's
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: nudging you, don't delay. If he's calling, you answer the call,
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: and together we can change lives. We can say futures,
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: We can show this world what sons and daughters of
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: God look like. Loved people that are loving people, fed
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: by grace, others children of God acting like God. Thank
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: you for walking on this journey with me today, thank
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: you for praying, Thank you for those of you who
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: are giving, thank you for caring. God bless you as
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: you bless others. And we'll be back tomorrow to tell
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: you a little bit more about how all of it goes.
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: Kevin McCullough, thankful to have you here. We'll see you
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: next time.
