Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: I have a question for you, my friend.
- 0:01SPEAKER_00: How many marketing strategies are you trying to keep up with right now?
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Social media, email, networking, lead magnets, podcasting, maybe a little SEO thrown in there for good measure.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: And somehow you're supposed to do all of this while actually running your business?
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Here's the thing: you don't need to do all the marketing.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: You need to know which strategies make sense for your business, which ones deserve your time right now, and which ones you should stop worrying about.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Because if you're doing all that and still not getting the clients you want, we don't have an information problem.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: We have a focus problem.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: Ready to grow your online business without losing your mind?
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: You're in the right spot, my friend.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Welcome to Create Your Online Business Success.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Tracy Beavers.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: And this show is all about practical strategies, creative ideas, and sanity saving solutions that you can use right now.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Let's crank up the dial on your business growth and make it fun.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: Let's create your online business success.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: So last week we talked about the path people take from discovering you to eventually becoming a client.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: And if you listen to that episode and you thought, okay, Tracy, I see where I'm getting stuck.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Wonderful.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: And if you miss that episode, pause this one, go back and listen to that one, and then click play on this one.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Come back to be here.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: But here's what I see happen next.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Once you realize something isn't working, what's your first instinct?
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Is it to add something?
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: I think it's to add something, right?
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: You think, ah, maybe I need Instagram.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: Maybe I need LinkedIn, maybe a podcast, maybe a webinar, maybe I need to go to networking three times a week.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: Maybe I need to be on threads.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Are we still doing threads?
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: I don't even know.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: But suddenly the answer to why aren't I getting enough clients has become, apparently I need five more jobs.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, no.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: The answer isn't automatically another marketing strategy.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: I mean, maybe there is a new strategy that would be perfect for you, but there are a lot of great ways to market a business.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: So before you add something else, I want you to figure out which strategies make sense for your business, your audience, your goals, and your capacity.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: Your capacity.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: That's important.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: Because you don't need to do all the marketing.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: You just need to do the right marketing for you.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: Most of you listening to this podcast know a lot about marketing because I've been in your ears for over a hundred episodes.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: You've listened to this podcast, other marketing podcasts.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: You've attended the summits, you've downloaded the freebies, the courses.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: Every expert's telling you something different.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: They're saying post every day, don't post every day.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: Email more, don't email so much.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Start a podcast.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: No, go to YouTube, build a funnel, network, send a newsletter.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Huh.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: So you try to do all of it, then you can't consistently do any of it.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: And then you decide, I'm inconsistent.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: But maybe you're not.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Maybe your plan is just ridiculous.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: Maybe no human being running an actual business could consistently execute the marketing plan you've accidentally created for yourself.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: And to be clear, I'm not saying you already know everything you'll ever need to know.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: There may be strategies you haven't tried yet that would be perfect for you.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: The problem isn't learning something new, it's piling it on top of everything else without a plan.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Every strategy you add costs something.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: I want you to hear me say that again.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: Every strategy you add costs you something, whether it's time, attention, energy, money.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: And that doesn't mean we never add anything new.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: But what it means is we need to be intentional about what we add and why we're adding it.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: The question isn't simply, could this strategy work?
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: Well, of course it probably could.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: The better question is, is this one of the best strategies for me to focus on right now?
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Meaning you and your business, not Tracy Beaver's and Tracy Beaver's business, not Susie Smith's business, you and your business.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: And this is where I'll hear, oh, Tracy, I don't have enough time for marketing.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: Well, okay.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Sometimes there's a little truth to that, because you have clients, you have a business to run, maybe you have a family, you have a life, some of you have full-time jobs, but sometimes when I hear I don't have enough time for marketing, it actually means I've created a marketing plan that requires way more time than I have.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: And the good news, my friend, that is fixable.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: The answer isn't necessarily finding another six hours.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: The answer might be taking some things off the plan.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: I don't want your business growth dependent on you being online 24-7.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: That is a recipe for absolute disaster.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: I don't want you creating another truckload of free lead magnets because somebody told you that's the only way to grow your email list.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: And I don't want you paying for ads to compensate for an organic client path that just isn't working yet.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: I want you doing the things that actually matter.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: So what actually matters, Tracy?
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Great, great question.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: I would love to tell you.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: At the simplest level, we need new people finding you.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: We need new people finding you.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: We need the right people moving closer to you.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: We need you having conversations with those people.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: We need opportunities being created.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: And eventually, we need some of those opportunities becoming clients.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: Your marketing strategies are simply vehicles for making those things happen.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: Social media, it's a vehicle.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Networking, a vehicle, podcast guesting, vehicle, your email list, and it's another vehicle, your free Facebook group, your school community, circle community, heartbeat community, vehicles, all of them.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: But here's the thing: you don't have to drive all the vehicles.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: The clients are the goal, right?
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: But we don't have to drive all the vehicles to get there.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: And I don't care how many marketing strategies you're doing.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: What I care about is whether they're actually doing anything for you.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: Because nobody is handing out trophies for having the longest marketing to-do list.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: Ask me how I know.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: And if your organic marketing isn't helping you grow your email list, generate leads, can create conversations or get clients, then I want to know why before we automatically pile on another strategy.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: I want you to look at what's already working.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: Let's take a look at that.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: Where are your best people finding you?
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: Where are your clients coming from?
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: What puts you into conversations with potential clients, referral partners, or collaborators?
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: What's actually growing that email list of yours?
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: And what do you actually enjoy?
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Yes, I said enjoy, enough that you're willing to keep doing it, being patient and being consistent.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: And what are you doing every week because somebody told you that you should, even though you can't point to a meaningful result it's creating?
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: That last one, that's tough.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: I know it's tough love.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: Because sometimes we're spending hours maintaining a strategy that we don't like, we're not consistent with, and we can't really connect it to a result.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: It's like, why am I doing this?
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: I don't even know.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: But you might also discover a real gap.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: Maybe there is a strategy you're not using that would make perfect sense for your business.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: Well, great.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: Now we're not random, randomly adding something.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: We're making an intentional decision based on what your business actually needs.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: And here's the other piece of this.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: Sometimes you already know what to do.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: You're smart people.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: You know you should follow up, right?
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: You know you should email your list.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: You know you should make the invitation, but you're not doing it.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: And that's not an information problem either.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: Sometimes what you actually need is clarity on what matters most, feedback on whether you're doing it right, accountability to actually follow through, and support from somebody who can see what you can't see because you're standing too close to your own business.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: So I want to give you a three-question test.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: Here's your homework.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: I want you to look at the marketing activities you're currently trying to maintain and ask yourself three questions.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: Question number one, is this putting me in front of the right people?
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: Not just any old people, not just any warm bodies, the right people, either your ideal clients or your ideal fit collaboration partners.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: Question number two, does this create a way for those people to move closer to me?
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: Does this create a way for those people to move closer to me?
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: Joining your email list where they can reply to you, DMing you, having a conversation, taking a next step.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: All right, question number three, can I consistently maintain this without resenting my business?
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: Oh, I know it's not funny, but it is.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: Because if your marketing plan only works when you're operating at 100% capacity every week, forever for the rest of your life, that's not a great plan.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: So your answers may tell you to do something more consistently.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: They may tell you to stop something.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: They may show you a gap where adding the right new strategy makes sense.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: That's the point.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: We're not automatically adding, we're not automatically cutting.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: We're making decisions based on what your business actually needs.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: And remember, a brilliant strategy that you don't have the capacity to consistently execute, it's not the right strategy for you right now.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: It doesn't mean you can't ever use it.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: It just means put it in your parking lot because if you're if you're low on capacity and you're not be able to consistent with be consistent with it, then it's a waste of time.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: This is a huge part of why I created my business visibility made easy eight-week group coaching accelerator, the way that I did.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: Inside BVME, I'm gonna teach you new organic visibility and list growth strategies, but I'm not gonna hand you a pile of strategies, a big old scroll of strategies, and tell you that you have to do all of them.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: You have to do all of them or you will not be successful.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: Heck no, that is not how I coach.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: We're gonna look at your business, your audience, your offers, your visibility.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: Not my business, not Suzy Q's business, not Jane Doe's business, yours.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: And we're gonna find out where people are finding you and where they're getting stuck in your business.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: And then we're gonna figure out what actually deserves your attention.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: Maybe you need to stop doing something.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: Maybe you need to become more consistent with something that's already working.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: Maybe I'm gonna teach you a strategy you've never tried before that makes perfect sense for your business.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: I don't want you leaving with a bigger to-do list.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: I want you leaving with a clearer one.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: And if you've been thinking, I do not have time for another program, well, I want you to consider whether what you actually don't have time for is another six months of throwing random strategies at the wall and trying to figure it out all by yourself.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: You probably don't need to work harder.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: You probably just need to do less in a better way.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: And if this is hitting home for you, I want you to come join me for one of my remaining free live masterclasses.
