Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: Hi, it's Amy with Intuitive Coaching with Amy Radio, and
- 0:05Speaker 1: this is your sacred space for spirituality, intuition, manifestation and
- 0:12Speaker 1: metaphysical wisdom. How to follow your passion in middle age? Well, first,
- 0:20Speaker 1: if your intention is to monetize your passion, make that
- 0:25Speaker 1: the goal from the very beginning. Do not wait for
- 0:29Speaker 1: someone to give you permission. Do not wait for a
- 0:32Speaker 1: sign that says now you're allowed to make money doing
- 0:36Speaker 1: what you love. That is still asking for permission. And
- 0:42Speaker 1: the truth is this, The only person who can give
- 0:45Speaker 1: you permission in this lifetime is you. So if the
- 0:48Speaker 1: goal is to make money from your passion, be honest
- 0:52Speaker 1: about that and set the intention clearly in the beginning.
- 0:58Speaker 1: How much do you want to make? What is the
- 1:00Speaker 1: purpose for that money? Is it extra income? Is it
- 1:05Speaker 1: replacing your current job? Is it going to be patting
- 1:09Speaker 1: your retirement? Get specific, and if your goal is to
- 1:14Speaker 1: replace your income, then the number needs to match what
- 1:17Speaker 1: you are making now or exceed it. Do not settle
- 1:23Speaker 1: for I'll just be happy if I make anything. No,
- 1:27Speaker 1: if the goal is to monetize it, set the intention
- 1:30Speaker 1: to make real money and see it like a paycheck
- 1:34Speaker 1: that already belongs to you. And you're simply waiting to
- 1:37Speaker 1: cash it. You won't know when and how it's all
- 1:42Speaker 1: going to come together financially, but just know that it
- 1:45Speaker 1: will and put your whole heart into it. And I
- 1:50Speaker 1: can give you this wisdom as a woman who has
- 1:52Speaker 1: been pursuing her passions for a very long time. So
- 1:56Speaker 1: the second thing I would recommend is your always going
- 2:00Speaker 1: to be learning, but learn as you go. I think
- 2:03Speaker 1: a lot of people get stuck on taking course after course,
- 2:06Speaker 1: workshop after workshop, class after class, preparing for forever and
- 2:12Speaker 1: never actually producing anything. At some point, you have to
- 2:18Speaker 1: stop preparing and start creating. Learn while you move forward,
- 2:25Speaker 1: Learn while you move forward, learn while you're in motion.
- 2:31Speaker 1: And third, you probably have a job, and maybe you're
- 2:36Speaker 1: married and got some kids, yet responsibilities pulling at you
- 2:40Speaker 1: all day, every day, and that means you're going to
- 2:43Speaker 1: have to carve out little pieces of time ten minutes,
- 2:47Speaker 1: fifteen minutes, thirty minutes in the parking lot while you're
- 2:50Speaker 1: waiting for something. Use every bit of time. Do not
- 2:55Speaker 1: wait for some perfect, magical block of free time, because
- 3:00Speaker 1: it's probably not going to come. Small. Focus time adds up,
- 3:07Speaker 1: it adds up. And then fourth, focus focus focus because
- 3:16Speaker 1: Once you start, do not stop until you have finished something.
- 3:22Speaker 1: So if you start writing a book, don't stop until
- 3:24Speaker 1: you finish that manuscript. Don't you dare stop until you
- 3:28Speaker 1: finish that manuscript. Don't you dare stop until you finish.
- 3:32Speaker 1: That is one of the reasons when it comes to
- 3:34Speaker 1: like books. I set really small word count goals for
- 3:37Speaker 1: a manuscript to get me through that first manuscript. So
- 3:41Speaker 1: even if I'm sick, I know I can write two
- 3:43Speaker 1: hundred and fifty words in that day, and so then
- 3:46Speaker 1: I feel accomplished and I keep coming back to it.
- 3:49Speaker 1: All of that adds up. But make it your priority.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Once you start, do not stop until you are finished,
- 3:58Speaker 1: and you will have high production dose and you'll have
- 4:00Speaker 1: low production days. And that's okay. Do not keep starting
- 4:06Speaker 1: and stopping. It wears on you. It drains your confidence
- 4:10Speaker 1: and energetically, it sits in your energy field. Is something incomplete,
- 4:15Speaker 1: and it drains your energy. You got to teach your
- 4:20Speaker 1: mind how to finish. And one of the ways you
- 4:24Speaker 1: do that is you just keep coming back. You keep
- 4:27Speaker 1: coming back. You keep coming back, whether it's a book,
- 4:29Speaker 1: a screenplay, a business, a program, whatever it is, finish it.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Set deadlines for yourself, hold yourself accountable to those deadlines.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Completion matters. And I'll say this, stop questioning it. If
- 4:46Speaker 1: it's your best idea, there will always be another idea.
- 4:49Speaker 1: There will always be something shinier for you to chase.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Work with the idea in front of you, pursue that,
- 4:58Speaker 1: pursue that, pursue what makes you feel alive, what makes
- 5:03Speaker 1: you feel like love, what feels like a passion? And
- 5:09Speaker 1: I'll say this, that will have its peaks and valleys,
- 5:14Speaker 1: but as long as there's a deep desire there, you'll finish.
- 5:23Speaker 1: So stay with it because a part of the process
- 5:28Speaker 1: of pursuing a passion in middle age is trusting yourself,
- 5:33Speaker 1: completion and following through one more time. Life is always
- 5:39Speaker 1: going to make excuses. The kid will get sick, the
- 5:41Speaker 1: boss will quit, work will get busy, marriage will get hard.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Life is always going to life. That does not mean
- 5:52Speaker 1: you have to stop pursuing your passion. You flow with it,
- 5:58Speaker 1: you go with it, and you stay committed, and then
- 6:02Speaker 1: stop talking everybody about it. Just do it. Sometimes we
- 6:07Speaker 1: talk so much about a dream that our mind starts
- 6:10Speaker 1: to feel like we've already done it. But we have it,
- 6:14Speaker 1: and why because it takes so much energy to talk
- 6:17Speaker 1: about shit, so just stop talking about it. You can
- 6:19Speaker 1: mention it to people from time to time, but I
- 6:22Speaker 1: find that people that are jip jip jabbing about every
- 6:24Speaker 1: idea that they have aren't doing a whole lot at doing.
- 6:28Speaker 1: And so spend the energy that you would be in
- 6:31Speaker 1: conversation about pursuing your passion actually pursuing the passion. Stop
- 6:37Speaker 1: the announcement, stop the explaining, Protect what you're doing, protect
- 6:44Speaker 1: your energy, your love, your desire for it, and work
- 6:47Speaker 1: at it, and then your results will speak for themselves.
- 6:54Speaker 1: And then I'll say this, make the process as comfortable
- 6:57Speaker 1: as possible. Figure out the best way for you to work.
- 7:02Speaker 1: So if you need a little space, carve out a
- 7:04Speaker 1: space that's just a place where you work. If you
- 7:07Speaker 1: need to go to the coffee shop every other day,
- 7:09Speaker 1: go to the coffee shop every other day. If you
- 7:12Speaker 1: need quiet, have quiet. If you need music of music,
- 7:15Speaker 1: you need to do a ritual beforehand. Do it, whatever
- 7:18Speaker 1: it is. Figure out what you need so that you
- 7:22Speaker 1: can do your work in the most comfortable way possible.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Being uncomfortable doesn't work, and it definitely doesn't work in
- 7:29Speaker 1: middle age. Like make sure, make sure you have the
- 7:33Speaker 1: right equipment to do what you need to do because
- 7:36Speaker 1: comfort helps you create consistency, and your consistency is what
- 7:42Speaker 1: leads to the results you most desire. And then I
- 7:47Speaker 1: talked about this briefly, but I think it's worth circling
- 7:50Speaker 1: back to. Before you even begin any type of passion,
- 7:54Speaker 1: ask yourself, do I love this enough to see it through?
- 8:00Speaker 1: Enough to see it through? And you'll know. You know,
- 8:05Speaker 1: if it keeps following you around right and it's not
- 8:10Speaker 1: letting you go, it's you probably love it a lot
- 8:13Speaker 1: and now it's time to get started. But if it's
- 8:16Speaker 1: kind of fleeting here and there lip to do, maybe
- 8:20Speaker 1: not maybe, but only you will know. So just sit
- 8:23Speaker 1: down with yourself and ask do I love this enough
- 8:27Speaker 1: to stick with it until it's done? Because I would
- 8:33Speaker 1: recommend that, given how busy life is, the way you're
- 8:36Speaker 1: going to stay in something and to see it to completion,
- 8:42Speaker 1: to see that manifest into whatever it is that you
- 8:45Speaker 1: desire it to manifest into, you're going to have to
- 8:49Speaker 1: love it. That's how you're going to be able to
- 8:52Speaker 1: do the hardship, especially when life is coming at you
- 8:56Speaker 1: from all directions. So choose something you truly love, not
- 9:00Speaker 1: something that sounds good, something you truly love, something you
- 9:04Speaker 1: are willing to stay devoted to. And because this is
- 9:10Speaker 1: a show about pursuing your passions in middle age, I
- 9:13Speaker 1: want to say this clearly. Use your time right now.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Be all in now. Do not keep saying I'll do
- 9:23Speaker 1: it when, I'll do it, when I'll do it, when
- 9:26Speaker 1: I'll do it when the kids are older, I'll do
- 9:27Speaker 1: it when work slows down, I'll do it when life
- 9:29Speaker 1: gets easier. You do not know where life is going
- 9:35Speaker 1: to take you, and now is all you have, so
- 9:40Speaker 1: use it. And if need be get support. If you
- 9:45Speaker 1: need a therapist, get one. If you need a coach,
- 9:47Speaker 1: get one. If you need a spiritual if you need
- 9:50Speaker 1: spiritual support, get it. If you need mindset support, get it.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Do not think struggling means that you're weak and you're
- 9:58Speaker 1: not meant to do this. It just means you're human.
- 10:02Speaker 1: I had a lot of support in my life that
- 10:06Speaker 1: led to me getting my first novel done. Not because
- 10:09Speaker 1: I sat there talking about writing a novel, but because
- 10:13Speaker 1: the support helped me clear my mind enough so I
- 10:16Speaker 1: could actually sit down and write it. The novel had
- 10:20Speaker 1: been coming to me for over a year, and if
- 10:24Speaker 1: you're a writer, you know what I'm talking about, especially fiction.
- 10:28Speaker 1: These I had two characters that would not leave me alone.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Every time I went into meditation, there they would be.
- 10:35Speaker 1: It was like, as soon as that was always snared
- 10:38Speaker 1: at the time, as soon as my ex husband would
- 10:41Speaker 1: go somewhere, all of a sudden, this brush of characters
- 10:44Speaker 1: wanted to show up and start talking to me. And
- 10:46Speaker 1: I knew it was a novel. I knew they were characters,
- 10:50Speaker 1: and so trust that and get all the support you
- 10:56Speaker 1: need so that you can execute. Sometimes work is getting
- 11:01Speaker 1: yourself mentally, emotionally, and spiritually available to do the work,
- 11:05Speaker 1: and so get support. Do what helps you move forward,
- 11:11Speaker 1: Do what helps you complete the project. Do what helps
- 11:16Speaker 1: you pursue your passion so that you have something to
- 11:20Speaker 1: show for all your time, energy, and effort. Because I
- 11:23Speaker 1: truly believe one of the greatest gifts you can give
- 11:26Speaker 1: yourself and the people around you is being willing to
- 11:29Speaker 1: pursue your passion with your whole heart. When you do that,
- 11:34Speaker 1: you raise the vibration of your own life and you
- 11:38Speaker 1: raise the vibration of the planet. So these are my
- 11:42Speaker 1: thoughts on following your passion and middle age, it's not
- 11:45Speaker 1: too late. Do it, do it, do it. It will
- 11:47Speaker 1: be crazy, fun and challenging, and you'll learn a lot.
- 11:53Speaker 1: But there's never a day that you will regret pursuing
- 11:58Speaker 1: that passion and follow the wisdom I've given you. I'm
- 12:02Speaker 1: a woman who has done it right and wrong in
- 12:06Speaker 1: all different directions, and so this is solid the wisdom
