- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Almost Famous podcast with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Welcome back to Almost Famous The Pickleball Tourney, Part two.
- 0:09Speaker 2: We are back for year two where I will be
- 0:10Speaker 2: your champion.
- 0:11Speaker 3: I'm very excited.
- 0:12Speaker 2: We are back with Katie, Mercedes, Gabby and Annalise. So,
- 0:16Speaker 2: holidays are coming up, right, you have all the we're
- 0:18Speaker 2: getting around on the precipice of the new holiday season
- 0:20Speaker 2: ahead of us, right, kicking off very soon. Of course
- 0:23Speaker 2: we'll have Labor Day. He's got to pass for fourth
- 0:26Speaker 2: of July. But then we get into the real holiday
- 0:28Speaker 2: season Halloween. Right, some people just decorate for fall. You
- 0:32Speaker 2: guys a lot of new homeowners, right, how are you
- 0:34Speaker 2: guys feeling about?
- 0:35Speaker 3: Like are you getting your stuff together?
- 0:36Speaker 2: You're running the home Goods and just packing that thing
- 0:38Speaker 2: full of all your fall fashions.
- 0:40Speaker 1: God, I think I go to home Goods like every day,
- 0:42Speaker 1: if not every other day, I would I would.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Go every time you do a KFC commercial exactly that
- 0:48Speaker 2: kind of payday.
- 0:48Speaker 3: I'd go get some rugs, some plates.
- 0:51Speaker 4: I'd be like buying a new house every day.
- 0:56Speaker 2: So I mean, obviously, like with new homes, I mean
- 0:58Speaker 2: you got to you gotta get it kind of up
- 0:59Speaker 2: to right, and for you, I mean you just.
- 1:03Speaker 5: Doing the opposite. I'm like, I got stuff in storage.
- 1:06Speaker 5: But I do love the holidays. I'm like a I
- 1:09Speaker 5: had an event planning company for a while. Yeah, that's
- 1:12Speaker 5: what I did before going on the Bachelor. I did
- 1:14Speaker 5: like weddings and things like that, and so I have
- 1:17Speaker 5: so much good stuff and crops and whatnot, and I
- 1:21Speaker 5: I am I just love like bringing people together and
- 1:23Speaker 5: having people over. So Halloween is like my super Bowl.
- 1:28Speaker 5: I love Thanksgiving. We usually host it, and so I
- 1:31Speaker 5: just and I'm one of those people now that like
- 1:33Speaker 5: I get the tree up and I like make it
- 1:36Speaker 5: around Thanksgiving so that we can do because we don't
- 1:38Speaker 5: do Christmas as a big family anymore. Yeah, and so
- 1:41Speaker 5: that way we can do like family photos in front
- 1:42Speaker 5: of the Christmas tree, you know, and sort of have that.
- 1:46Speaker 4: But but I do.
- 1:47Speaker 5: I just love having everyone together under one roof, eating
- 1:50Speaker 5: a meal together.
- 1:51Speaker 4: And I love decorating.
- 1:53Speaker 5: So yeah, I bring out all the festive things to
- 1:55Speaker 5: do all the arranging, and yeah, I just love it.
- 1:59Speaker 4: I usual up in October.
- 2:01Speaker 3: So I have a friend who does that.
- 2:03Speaker 2: I was going to say, I.
- 2:04Speaker 4: Love it so much. If I could keep it up
- 2:05Speaker 4: year round. I would. Yeah, tree is very random to
- 2:08Speaker 4: do a theme.
- 2:09Speaker 5: No, you do random.
- 2:10Speaker 4: I'm not theme. I like, I mean, I have like
- 2:12Speaker 4: hot dog ornaments. It's like it's like the weirdest tree
- 2:15Speaker 4: you've ever seen in your life. But I love it. Yeah,
- 2:18Speaker 4: it's just like so it's you.
- 2:20Speaker 5: That's why.
- 2:21Speaker 2: So my buddy does his tree around around Halloween and
- 2:23Speaker 2: he makes his tree a Halloween tree. He then because
- 2:27Speaker 2: he's got little kids and so they make it like
- 2:29Speaker 2: a fun thing. He takes down all that stuff and
- 2:31Speaker 2: he puts up the Christmas stuff. That's fun, you know.
- 2:33Speaker 3: I think it's pretty interesting.
- 2:35Speaker 1: It's also like such a hassle to get your Christmas trio.
- 2:38Speaker 2: It is.
- 2:39Speaker 4: It's like it is a whole process. It's a project,
- 2:42Speaker 4: the most wonderful time. Yes, keep it up. All that working.
- 2:48Speaker 5: So then there's the flip side of that. Are you
- 2:50Speaker 5: somebody who takes it down like the day so me either,
- 2:53Speaker 5: I'm like.
- 2:53Speaker 4: A keep run up for eighteen months?
- 2:55Speaker 6: Whoa wow?
- 2:57Speaker 4: Okay, but why I take it down then? Because you're
- 2:59Speaker 4: just like you and I.
- 3:00Speaker 7: Know we have like so I have two roommates and
- 3:03Speaker 7: there's not a lot of space for storage. We're all girls,
- 3:06Speaker 7: so like we have a bunch of everywhere, and I'm like,
- 3:09Speaker 7: where are we going to put this tree? You guys
- 3:11Speaker 7: were just like in the corners. It was so funny,
- 3:16Speaker 7: Like every time I like I would we had a
- 3:19Speaker 7: mirror and it was like behind the mirror so you
- 3:20Speaker 7: could see it and like if I took his selfie
- 3:22Speaker 7: or something, yes, and it would be like I never
- 3:26Speaker 7: heard of them, right exactly.
- 3:29Speaker 3: That's funny. Yeah. Well, I like, I love the friendship
- 3:31Speaker 3: that you guys have. I think that's so great.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Yeah, you can tell I'm going to join in on
- 3:36Speaker 4: this ship. I'm like, I'll just pretend.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Was the Zach of that of that era, you know,
- 3:45Speaker 3: of that era of Bachelor's. Maybe do you still follow?
- 3:50Speaker 3: Like do you keep in touch with you? I actually so.
- 3:52Speaker 5: I lived in Maui for a bit and so I
- 3:54Speaker 5: would see Ari and Lauren and Maui.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Lauren is so sweet, man.
- 3:57Speaker 5: I love her. She was my roommate in the house. Yeah,
- 4:00Speaker 5: like she's I always feel like people say, oh, you know,
- 4:03Speaker 5: what was she like because she just like doesn't she
- 4:05Speaker 5: seems very boring and whatever. I'm like, she she does
- 4:08Speaker 5: them on TV. But she was the funniest person in
- 4:11Speaker 5: the house. Yeah, she is hilarious.
- 4:13Speaker 3: You know, I got something for you, Gabby.
- 4:14Speaker 2: So, like one of the things I noticed when I
- 4:16Speaker 2: was the Bachelor and we had our fantasy not fantasy sweep,
- 4:20Speaker 2: but we had like our secret rendezvous meetings and stuff
- 4:22Speaker 2: like that as the season was still you know, fresh,
- 4:26Speaker 2: sometimes those were hard to reconnect, did you guys ever?
- 4:28Speaker 2: I mean, obviously you ended up in a wonderful spot,
- 4:30Speaker 2: but yeah, sometimes it's hard to reconnect than you've been
- 4:32Speaker 2: away from somebody that you kind of hardly know, right,
- 4:35Speaker 2: I mean you know them and you love them, and
- 4:36Speaker 2: you think it's there, but you're now you're getting to
- 4:39Speaker 2: know each other better when the cameras aren't around. Yeah,
- 4:41Speaker 2: Was it always puppy dogs and ice cream? Or did
- 4:43Speaker 2: you guys ever have a moment where you were like, well,
- 4:45Speaker 2: hell am I doing?
- 4:46Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 4:46Speaker 1: I mean it is tough because like on The Bachelor,
- 4:50Speaker 1: I technically hung out with Zach twice.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Yeah, And you know, when you think about the time
- 4:54Speaker 2: you actually spent with people, you're like, oh my god.
- 4:56Speaker 1: I literally like we just did like a funny little
- 4:59Speaker 1: real with that THEO Vonne voiceover, and like, and my
- 5:06Speaker 1: my caption was like, oh, how long did you guys
- 5:08Speaker 1: know each other before you got engaged in?
- 5:09Speaker 3: It says four minutes?
- 5:10Speaker 4: Like literally we I think was.
- 5:13Speaker 3: That just a time in the fantasy sweet?
- 5:14Speaker 2: Just kidding, just kidding everybody.
- 5:19Speaker 1: It was just it was It was very But I
- 5:21Speaker 1: think when I first met Zak, it was you just
- 5:24Speaker 1: like you just know he's a good yes, yeah, he
- 5:27Speaker 1: just like he's just so sweet, so kind, so comfortable
- 5:30Speaker 1: to be with, and you can tell his morals and
- 5:32Speaker 1: values are aligned and he has a great head on
- 5:35Speaker 1: his shoulder. So that's why initially I was like, this
- 5:39Speaker 1: guy has is a catch, but I just, uh, yeah,
- 5:43Speaker 1: it was hard because everything was kind of manipulated through
- 5:45Speaker 1: our hangouts or our chats. And it's like, I remember
- 5:48Speaker 1: Zach and I were like bonding over Nickelback because we
- 5:50Speaker 1: both love Nickelback, and we were talking about how much
- 5:53Speaker 1: we love Nickelback, and the producer was like, Okay, now
- 5:56Speaker 1: talk about the rows, and I'm like, how am I
- 5:57Speaker 1: supposed to get to know this guy?
- 5:59Speaker 4: Really went an engagement is around the corner.
- 6:01Speaker 3: I'm like, this is crazy.
- 6:03Speaker 1: So I definitely got to know Zach way more off camera.
- 6:08Speaker 3: But did you guys have a lot of meetings, like
- 6:10Speaker 3: did you have a lot of the secret.
- 6:11Speaker 1: So when I was nursing, I was doing night shifts.
- 6:13Speaker 1: So even when we were getting flown up to California.
- 6:16Speaker 3: I was like dead.
- 6:17Speaker 4: I was so tired.
- 6:18Speaker 1: I was like basically my whole routine was staying up
- 6:24Speaker 1: till seven am, right, So I was alive through the night,
- 6:27Speaker 1: but dead through the day with him, And so that
- 6:29Speaker 1: was really tough on our relationship. And he's like, he's like,
- 6:32Speaker 1: maybe you do day shifts, maybe kind of like switch
- 6:36Speaker 1: that up. And yeah, I think we learned a lot
- 6:38Speaker 1: about each other. Were still learning about each other. But
- 6:41Speaker 1: I think for me, like I didn't know how he's
- 6:45Speaker 1: a sensitive guy, sure, And for me my past relationship,
- 6:49Speaker 1: I was never vulnerable.
- 6:51Speaker 3: I was never really sensitive.
- 6:53Speaker 1: I like rased my my ex at the time, like
- 6:57Speaker 1: we do jokes and stuff, Zach.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Yeah, it was just it was different to.
- 7:04Speaker 3: His love language. Yeah, where's loser?
- 7:07Speaker 4: And He's like, what a loser?
- 7:11Speaker 3: Like that why I was?
- 7:14Speaker 1: But you know, it was a learning curve and I
- 7:19Speaker 1: had to mature and he's taught me so much about
- 7:21Speaker 1: being vulnerable and all that stuff.
- 7:23Speaker 3: I hope I answered the question.
- 7:26Speaker 2: I just remember being tough because you know, as the
- 7:30Speaker 2: Bacheler guy at that time, they had me flying all
- 7:32Speaker 2: over the country doing all this stuff, and then like
- 7:34Speaker 2: we wedge it in between other things and it'd be like,
- 7:37Speaker 2: you know, it felt like five minutes, right, and I
- 7:39Speaker 2: was like, I'm not getting to know her at all,
- 7:42Speaker 2: you know, which is probably why we didn't work out.
- 7:44Speaker 6: Right.
- 7:44Speaker 3: It was like one of those things.
- 7:45Speaker 2: But you know, I like the idea of her, but
- 7:48Speaker 2: we never got to connect and so then you know,
- 7:50Speaker 2: jealousy and weird things happened and whatever. You know, I
- 7:53Speaker 2: was one of the you know, one of the what
- 7:54Speaker 2: do you call it? The the not success stories?
- 7:58Speaker 3: What do you call that?
- 7:58Speaker 2: One of the failures? All right, So my last question
- 8:13Speaker 2: for you guys, Taylor Frankie Paul TFP. By the way,
- 8:19Speaker 2: when I first talked to her, I called her Taylor
- 8:21Speaker 2: Paul Frankie didn't I Yeah, I knew his street names.
- 8:25Speaker 2: So Taylor Frankie Paul, what's your guys thoughts on this?
- 8:29Speaker 2: Are you still into it? If the season does air?
- 8:32Speaker 2: Will you watch it? Does anyone care? Where's your head?
- 8:35Speaker 4: Not into it?
- 8:36Speaker 5: I was never into it.
- 8:37Speaker 6: I wasn't really into it because I think Bachelor fan
- 8:40Speaker 6: base is very different from the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Yeah,
- 8:45Speaker 6: and I understand like why, like you would want to
- 8:50Speaker 6: like add more viewers and all of that, but I
- 8:52Speaker 6: feel like it wasn't necessarily authentic to the franchise.
- 8:57Speaker 4: And that's fine, but and like it's good to take risks.
- 9:02Speaker 6: I mean, like Matt James wasn't in the franchise that
- 9:04Speaker 6: worked out, but like I just felt it didn't work out.
- 9:08Speaker 4: Actually, apparently it's not.
- 9:14Speaker 6: I don't know, well, I mean breaking up with someone
- 9:16Speaker 6: before they get on a flight from Japan.
- 9:18Speaker 4: Yeah, that was weird doing it via Instagram. Like it's
- 9:22Speaker 4: pretty crazy.
- 9:23Speaker 6: Like that is criminal's stating for like, and she is
- 9:28Speaker 6: literally so beautiful.
- 9:30Speaker 4: I'm really oh, oh you let that go.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Did you ever watch Secret Wise and Mormon like in
- 9:40Speaker 3: it whatever it is.
- 9:40Speaker 1: I tried to watch it, Zach, and I tried to
- 9:43Speaker 1: I put it on for maybe ten minutes.
- 9:46Speaker 4: They said, turn this off at a headache, No, I
- 9:48Speaker 4: can't watch it. I watched it.
- 9:51Speaker 7: Yeah, I didn't watch the newest season, but I watched,
- 9:54Speaker 7: like I think there's three now. I think I watched
- 9:55Speaker 7: the first.
- 9:56Speaker 2: So were you kind of excited the Mercedes when they
- 9:58Speaker 2: named her as because you knew who she was.
- 10:00Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean I thought it was kind of out
- 10:03Speaker 7: of left field, Like I was like, oh, interesting, But
- 10:06Speaker 7: I agree with her. I feel like it's not really
- 10:07Speaker 7: like if I were to think of like who the
- 10:10Speaker 7: Bachelor would have, it wouldn't be her. But yeah, I
- 10:12Speaker 7: mean again, you like take risks in that, and you
- 10:15Speaker 7: know Bachelor has had its struggles, so.
- 10:18Speaker 4: They have to like you know, you have to.
- 10:19Speaker 7: And also I think it's huge, like they're competing with
- 10:22Speaker 7: so many shows now, like like there's all these shows
- 10:24Speaker 7: that are like just doing insane numbers, so they do
- 10:27Speaker 7: have to do something that's different. So like I understand
- 10:29Speaker 7: why they brought.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Her a little bit. Yeah, just unfortunately, I just think.
- 10:33Speaker 7: Like the situation is obviously very unfortunate, like that she
- 10:37Speaker 7: and her ex and her kids are going through and
- 10:39Speaker 7: then to be on such a public like everyone in
- 10:43Speaker 7: your business and everyone, and I don't know, it's just
- 10:45Speaker 7: like it makes me kind of.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Sad for her.
- 10:47Speaker 4: Yeah, me too, you know the whole situation.
- 10:50Speaker 6: Yeah, Like also a lot of people like took so
- 10:52Speaker 6: much time off your like life, Yeah, just go.
- 10:55Speaker 4: On a show and it's like never airs, well not
- 10:58Speaker 4: even that, but like then you learn all these things
- 11:01Speaker 4: and it's like.
- 11:02Speaker 6: Your whole point of view as jaded, and it like
- 11:04Speaker 6: almost like makes your experience like not as valid like
- 11:09Speaker 6: the person you thought you were going to me and know.
- 11:11Speaker 6: And it's sad that it's on such a public platform,
- 11:15Speaker 6: but yeah, taking like all that time away from work,
- 11:18Speaker 6: like I had to leave my job unpaid, and I
- 11:20Speaker 6: mean I didn't really come back from that, and I'm
- 11:26Speaker 6: not in sales anymore. So I don't know any of
- 11:29Speaker 6: these people, so I feel like it's kind of unfair
- 11:30Speaker 6: for me to say, like I think they're opportunistic, like
- 11:33Speaker 6: when I don't know them. Honestly, if I went on
- 11:37Speaker 6: a show and it didn't get air and I spent
- 11:38Speaker 6: two months of my life there, I'd be pretty pissed off.
- 11:41Speaker 4: I probably would be posting about it.
- 11:43Speaker 6: But I just think Bachelor needs to go a different
- 11:46Speaker 6: direction because like obviously things are maybe like a little
- 11:50Speaker 6: stale and someone needs to freshen it up.
- 11:53Speaker 4: I personally think what.
- 11:54Speaker 6: Would be awesome is if they like went into like
- 11:57Speaker 6: different cities and followed like what Bachelor people are doing
- 12:01Speaker 6: in our lives and like made it like reality TV
- 12:05Speaker 6: that way, like maybe you go to World La and
- 12:10Speaker 6: you put them in a house and like it's almost
- 12:12Speaker 6: like summer house vibe. But like Bachelor, I also think
- 12:17Speaker 6: that they could do they could go back to like
- 12:19Speaker 6: its original roots, Like I feel like when the show
- 12:21Speaker 6: was on, when you were on, even a little bit
- 12:23Speaker 6: when I was on, but definitely more when you like
- 12:25Speaker 6: it was it.
- 12:26Speaker 4: Was just like wholesome.
- 12:27Speaker 5: You really rooted for the lead, like they were good
- 12:30Speaker 5: people that were just like you felt like you could
- 12:32Speaker 5: relate to them. They were regular people that had regular jobs,
- 12:36Speaker 5: and they they really made it seem like we got
- 12:39Speaker 5: the best of the best. And then I feel like
- 12:41Speaker 5: right now, the way that the show's going, they're trying
- 12:43Speaker 5: so hard to compete with these shows and they're trying
- 12:45Speaker 5: to be those shows, but they're never gonna be those shows,
- 12:47Speaker 5: Like We're never gonna be Land Love Island, And so
- 12:52Speaker 5: I think like there's an audience for Love Island, but
- 12:54Speaker 5: then there's also an audience for like a little bit
- 12:56Speaker 5: more wholesome dating shows where like the people hopefully really
- 13:00Speaker 5: fine love and yeah, you know, and and it's not celebrities.
- 13:03Speaker 5: And to go back to the guys that we're on
- 13:05Speaker 5: the show, Like I feel for them. I feel like
- 13:08Speaker 5: they're doing the right thing by putting themselves out there.
- 13:11Speaker 4: But it is a little it does feel.
- 13:13Speaker 5: Like, Okay, well obviously that's like what is your intention than?
- 13:17Speaker 5: Were you just trying to become insta famous? Whatever?
- 13:20Speaker 3: Isn't it weird?
- 13:20Speaker 5: Though?
- 13:20Speaker 2: Like a show now, like honestly, like back when I
- 13:23Speaker 2: was The Bachelor, I mean we got twenty some million
- 13:26Speaker 2: viewers a week. It was enormous, right, and that era,
- 13:29Speaker 2: I mean, not just my season, but nowadays, like you're saying,
- 13:33Speaker 2: like it's but it's still thought to be more. I
- 13:35Speaker 2: think more of a big deal if it's on ABC
- 13:38Speaker 2: in my mind, right, but it's more of a popular
- 13:42Speaker 2: show if it's streaming.
- 13:43Speaker 5: And I feel like for me because I follow so
- 13:46Speaker 5: many like Bachelor accounts and stuff on Instagram that I'll
- 13:49Speaker 5: have an all intentions to watch a season and I
- 13:51Speaker 5: get so many spoilers or whatever the following days of
- 13:56Speaker 5: when it's aired that I'm like, why do I need
- 13:58Speaker 5: to watch the episode?
- 13:59Speaker 4: So I am not watching because.
- 14:00Speaker 5: I feel like I know everything that happened just from
- 14:03Speaker 5: social media.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it should almost be like a one day blackout
- 14:05Speaker 2: or something, so you can actually watch it.
- 14:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:08Speaker 7: I do agree, though, I think if they dropped more
- 14:10Speaker 7: episodes at once, because like she said, like I feel
- 14:13Speaker 7: like I don't have the patients or like yeah, the
- 14:16Speaker 7: I don't know because I like think back like ten
- 14:18Speaker 7: years right, if I was watching a show and me
- 14:21Speaker 7: and all my friends would be like, oh my gosh,
- 14:22Speaker 7: I can't wait till next week. Oh my god, just
- 14:24Speaker 7: be crazy anymore.
- 14:27Speaker 4: So.
- 14:28Speaker 2: I even get pissed now when they do like three
- 14:29Speaker 2: episodes and they'll you have to wait like two weeks.
- 14:32Speaker 6: I'm like, come on, I just feel like that it
- 14:36Speaker 6: looks you because it seems three and you're like, I'm
- 14:38Speaker 6: kind of locked in here.
- 14:39Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 14:39Speaker 4: I also think the episodes.
- 14:41Speaker 6: Need to be longer, like like the streaming episodes.
- 14:45Speaker 4: Yes, because people put things on in the background.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Ye. I don't.
- 14:50Speaker 6: Like I get really irritated when it's like like an
- 14:55Speaker 6: hour long episode.
- 14:56Speaker 4: I'm like, well I didn't get anything.
- 14:59Speaker 6: Well I want to another hour please, Because Katie to
- 15:03Speaker 6: know everything.
- 15:03Speaker 3: What are you doing if you're not doing sales? You
- 15:05Speaker 3: are born to be in sales? Like what do you
- 15:07Speaker 3: I'm Katie, this is I'm sorry.
- 15:09Speaker 4: Yeah, when you were asking me a question earlier.
- 15:15Speaker 3: You were looking at me, but I was I was like,
- 15:17Speaker 3: is this forgat? So why are you not sales? Like
- 15:21Speaker 3: what are you doing?
- 15:22Speaker 4: Oh? I that's a good question. You do a lot
- 15:28Speaker 4: of things. All right, I'm pretty domesticated.
- 15:32Speaker 3: Are you very nice?
- 15:33Speaker 4: Yeah? Right now I'm choosing dreats.
- 15:35Speaker 3: Oh well yeah, I mean you got a new house,
- 15:38Speaker 3: so you're doing design.
- 15:40Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what you're doing totally.

- 16:07Speaker 6: so funny hearing about these guys, maybe all these tiktoks,
- 16:09Speaker 6: because when I left the show, I was like, I'm
- 16:12Speaker 6: so scared to post.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Yeah that's what I felt.
- 16:15Speaker 6: I had just gone through this crazy experience and like,
- 16:19Speaker 6: in some respects, like you like talking about how it
- 16:22Speaker 6: was getting to know Zach, it was very easy to
- 16:24Speaker 6: go back into my life because he never existed in
- 16:27Speaker 6: my life. But I was so scared of posting that
- 16:31Speaker 6: wasn't me, that wasn't my life. I was never an
- 16:34Speaker 6: Instagram girl, Lee, I wasn't on I wasn't making tiktoks like.
- 16:38Speaker 6: So it was like a learning curve that I haven't
- 16:41Speaker 6: gone over the hump up.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I understand. I'm terrible at it too. I don't
- 16:45Speaker 3: do any of it.
- 16:45Speaker 2: And back to day when I was a bachelor, I
