Latest / The Reverse Aging Club with Meredith Oke / 131: From ER to Energy Healing: Dr. Tina Hills on Trauma, Fascia & Quantum Medicine
Transcript
- 5:01Meredith Oke: Tina. Tina Hills, welcome to the QVC podcast.
- 5:05Dr. Tina Hills: So happy to be here with you today. I've been
- 5:08waiting for this.
- 5:09Meredith Oke: Oh, I'm so excited. It's going to be really fun.
- 5:13You know, when you went through the program over
- 5:16at iaqb, you brought so much energy and
- 5:20experience and amazing stuff to the table. So I'm
- 5:23glad. I'm excited to dig into it.
- 5:25Dr. Tina Hills: Well, you filled a very large gap. You brought
- 5:28everything together with the information that you
- 5:30provide when you start looking at the full
- 5:33spectrum of health. And so, man, I was glad to
- 5:37find you.
- 5:38Meredith Oke: Oh, I'm so glad because. And that was. That's
- 5:41exactly it. Right? It's just like, it's just that
- 5:44program is just meant to be like a bridge for
- 5:47people like you who have so many pieces. And then
- 5:50it's like, okay, there's just this, like, there's
- 5:54some fundamentals that some brilliant people have
- 5:57figured out that, I mean, I don't teach it above
- 6:00my pay grade, but I want all of you to learn it.
- 6:04And yeah, people come in and if that's their gap
- 6:07that they're missing, it's like, oh, and they're
- 6:09supercharged with like all the stuff that they've
- 6:12been studying for years.
- 6:13Dr. Tina Hills: Yes, yes.
- 6:15Meredith Oke: Amazing. So, okay, so you are an md, ER doc.
- 6:20Dr. Tina Hills: I'm a do do.
- 6:22Meredith Oke: Okay.
- 6:23Dr. Tina Hills: Plus. But yeah, I'm a do.
- 6:25Meredith Oke: Explain. Explain how that all works.
- 6:27Dr. Tina Hills: Your traditional background, osteopathy, broke
- 6:30off of the allopathic back in the 1800s because
- 6:34the gentleman who started it said, you guys are
- 6:36killing my family with your poisons. I got to
- 6:38figure out how to heal the body. And so when you
- 6:41go through osteopathic school, you go through the
- 6:43standard medical training, but it's a more of a.
- 6:45You're open to a little more holistic and hands
- 6:49on. So you learn about 40 different techniques in
- 6:53how to work with the body manually. You still
- 6:56learn all the pharmacology, all the
- 6:58pathophysiology exactly the same. And then you,
- 7:01when you get out of residency, you can either
- 7:03attend an allopathic residency or an osteopathic
- 7:06residency. So you just have more options, more
- 7:08training.
- 7:09Meredith Oke: Oh, that is so cool. Because. So I just assumed
- 7:11because you worked in an ER that you had an md. I
- 7:15did not know that you could be a do and be
- 7:19working in er. That is cool.
- 7:21Dr. Tina Hills: We have full rights in the US and most of the
- 7:24world. We do. There's a couple places where you
- 7:25don't, but yeah, it's full rights.
- 7:28Meredith Oke: Amazing. Okay, so how so. So you chose to do the
- 7:34osteopathic residency route. And then. And then
- 7:38what happened? And how did you even end up there?
- 7:41And why were you even like, yes, osteopathy?
- 7:43Dr. Tina Hills: Because I didn't go to medical school until I was
- 7:4532. I was, you know, I was in exercise
- 7:49physiology. I was a semi professional athlete in
- 7:52powerlifting. And as my career started to come to
- 7:55an end in the powerlifting, I had to say, man.
- 7:58And then I got a master's degree in computer
- 7:59sciences while I was doing that. So I was working
- 8:02in the real world.
- 8:03Meredith Oke: We've got a polymath on our hands, people. Okay?
- 8:07Dr. Tina Hills: My brother said, you're not too old to go back.
- 8:09So I went back to school. And then because of my
- 8:12age, I'm like, I got to get a job where I go to
- 8:14work and go home. I don't want to be in a clinic.
- 8:16I don't want to be tied to a pager. So I said,
- 8:17oh, let me do er. And so ER is super amazing
- 8:21because our specialty is trauma and
- 8:24resuscitation. That's our true specialty. But by
- 8:28training, we have to be a jack of all trades,
- 8:30because you have to be able to take care of
- 8:32anything that walks in the er, and you have to
- 8:34know enough to speak to your consultants and the
- 8:37admitting physicians. And so you have to have
- 8:40this real wide breadth of information. When I.
- 8:45When I started all this, I was, you know, you're
- 8:47really gung ho. You're all into the drama and
- 8:50trauma, and as you get to this side of it, you're
- 8:53like, I'm done with that part. How do we actually
- 8:56help ourselves now? And so that's what drove me.
- 9:00And I had a. In 2019, I just hit the point where
- 9:04I had the perfect job, I had the perfect house, I
- 9:08had the perfect partner. And everything came
- 9:11crashing down because our nice little hospital
- 9:13was bought out by a conglomerate. And I had. I
- 9:18came home from work every day questioning, why am
- 9:24I having to use childhood survival skills to go
- 9:28through work? And that put me on this big, long
- 9:33path now it's been five years now of who am I and
- 9:37why am I here? And those are the two fundamental
- 9:40questions that you have to get to if you start a
- 9:43healing journey. Because you are not your job.
- 9:46You are not the person that. You're your parent.
- 9:49You are a parent, but that's not who you are.
- 9:51It's just a. A role you play. And it really put
- 9:54me down onto this. Like, how? Why am I doing
- 9:57this? I have to back up one second, though,
- 10:01because the Very first lesson I learned was from
- 10:04my spouse when I learned it was okay to be happy.
- 10:07Oh, anything started, it's such a big one, happy
- 10:13for no reason. And I learned that lesson just
- 10:17before these other very harsh ones came along
- 10:19because I had to know the contrast. If I had not
- 10:22learned that it's okay, I would have stayed in
- 10:24the oh, wo is me. I'm just fighting the fight.
- 10:27But it made me know that no, things are
- 10:30different. We can treat people differently, we
- 10:33can feel differently about ourselves. And it was
- 10:36about that time that ayahuasca first came around
- 10:38my on my email and came in calling, knocking on
- 10:41my door. And it took me about two years to go do
- 10:44that. In the meantime, I was dealing with my own
- 10:48traumas and how, learning how to get it out of my
- 10:51body, how to start healing my body with what I
- 10:55ate and things like that. And so it just kind of
- 10:57moved down this nice spectrum of I'm either going
- 11:00to manage my decline, because when I started
- 11:03this, I was almost 50 pounds overweight, blood
- 11:06pressure pushing, blood pressure pushing,
- 11:07diabetes, incredibly unhealthy. So I said, I'm
- 11:12either going to manage my decline or I have got
- 11:14to change what I'm looking at and say, how do I
- 11:17create health? Because it's two completely
- 11:19different ends of the spectrum, completely
- 11:21different thought pattern. When we came onto the
- 11:25to the quantum biology, I had been looking at it
- 11:29for a little bit before I found you guys, and it
- 11:31just started making logical sense. When you look
- 11:34at the pharmacology and things like, it makes
- 11:36sense to make you feel better in short term, but
- 11:40when you're sitting in the ER after 20 years
- 11:44almost, we figured out probably about a hundred
- 11:48thousand patients, probably two to three times
- 11:51that in family members. 10,000 deaths that I've
- 11:56had the honor of being with, and I've had my own
- 12:01near death. And so when you start to move from
- 12:05this perspective of I know all these things are
- 12:08going on, and then you find something in the
- 12:09plant medicine world that shows you the rest of
- 12:11the energy and the importance of the energy. Then
- 12:15you want to come back and put it all together and
- 12:17say, here, this is how you can do this in
- 12:19something called integration. Integration is
- 12:22where you simply take all your lessons and start
- 12:24applying it to your life. So what the. When I
- 12:28went, we started our program, we said, we sat
- 12:30down because my spouse is an ER nurse. We sat
- 12:34down and we said, okay, how do we combine these
- 12:37two things? These have to merge because the
- 12:40knowledge is here. They're just not taking it far
- 12:42enough. To heal anyone. And so we started out
- 12:45with, well, when somebody comes in with a code,
- 12:48how do we get them to be alive if they're dead?
- 12:52When they get to us, how do we make them come
- 12:54alive? You know, because everything's on a
- 12:56spectrum. They're not dead dead yet. They're just
- 12:58dead. We can still get them back if that makes
- 13:01dead.
- 13:02Meredith Oke: Ish. Not fully dead. Okay.
- 13:05Dr. Tina Hills: And so what we did. Excuse me, what we did is we
- 13:11said, okay, the very first thing that we have to
- 13:14do when someone comes into the error is create
- 13:18coherence. Very first thing. Because when someone
- 13:23goes into a cardiac arrest, their heart is not
- 13:25beating in a proper rhythm. We have to get that
- 13:28rhythm back. Nothing can happen in the body
- 13:30without a heartbeat. You can have a heartbeat
- 13:33with no breath, but you cannot have it the other
- 13:35way around. And so we said, okay, how do we
- 13:37create coherence? And so we went through all
- 13:40these, this deep dive into what creates coherence
- 13:43in the body and put it in our program. And then
- 13:47we looked at, you know, the quantum biology,
- 13:50circadian rhythm. And so we just got, we were
- 13:52just able to meld them together to, and help
- 13:55people shift their perspective from that decline
- 13:59to the incline. Both of them are hard, they're
- 14:03both work. But the, the work of becoming healthy
- 14:06is so much more fun and so much more benefit to
- 14:10the outcome of your life that you forget about
- 14:13this other stuff and you won't, you just won't.
- 14:17You won't do it anymore. And as simple as that,
- 14:22I, I.
- 14:23Meredith Oke: Really like this framing of it, managing the
- 14:27decline versus investing in your health, because
- 14:32I think it does a lot of things. One of the
- 14:36things is like, we're so often told like, oh, oh,
- 14:39you're having that happen. Yeah, you're in your
- 14:4030s. Oh, you're having that happen. Yeah, you're
- 14:42in your 40s. Oh, you're having that happen. Yeah,
- 14:44you're getting old. Oh, you're. And it's like,
- 14:46yeah, like all of these symptoms we're told are
- 14:49just quote, unquote, normal. And it's like, just
- 14:51because. What's the phrase? Just because it's
- 14:53common doesn't mean it's normal.
- 14:55Dr. Tina Hills: Yes.
- 14:55Meredith Oke: And so that would be the managing of the decline.
- 14:58Right. It's like nothing we can do. This stuff's
- 15:01just all going to happen. Want, want, want. But.
- 15:04And then sometimes the bridge out of that into
- 15:07the other one you're talking about, where we were
- 15:09creating our health is through trying to manage
- 15:13symptoms. But you're right, it's a huge Mind
- 15:17shift. It's not just like, oh, I'm going to get
- 15:19to the root cause to fix this symptom. Then it's
- 15:21like once you're down at the root, you got to
- 15:22move over to that other side. And then you stop
- 15:26doing things like expecting every practitioner
- 15:29you meet to be the last one you'll ever need in
- 15:30your life. And start to realize that this is like
- 15:33an ongoing non linear lifetime journey.
- 15:38Dr. Tina Hills: Just like we do not age linearly. We cut, we're
- 15:40coming around, we start our slow decline around
- 15:4344 is what they say, you have a clunk, I drop and
- 15:47you have another rose around 60. But if you look
- 15:50at that, that's right at the time when most
- 15:51people really start having symptoms, in that
- 15:53early 40s to mid-40s, you start having symptoms,
- 15:55you start to realize, oh my gosh, I can't do what
- 15:58I used to do. But let me tell you now, that heart
- 16:01attack, that stroke, all of those things that
- 16:03you're having in your 50s and 60s started when
- 16:06you were 20. They did not start when you were 50.
- 16:08It was, it's not a shock. It's not a shock to
- 16:11anyone except for who it happened to because it's
- 16:13been going on. We could have told you back at 20
- 16:15you were going to have this heart attack, but you
- 16:16wouldn't listen, you know, and so it's just
- 16:18funny, it's how you start to bring things
- 16:20together with that. But, you know, and we figured
- 16:22out that nobody is going to heal you. You are
- 16:28fully responsible for your state of being. And
- 16:32it's not just your physical state of being, it's
- 16:34your emotional, it's your spiritual, which I
- 16:37don't mean religious in that, I mean like your,
- 16:38your connection with yourself and the divine and
- 16:41your energetic. You have to take care of those
- 16:44things. Not just your mental and your physical,
- 16:46but we also need to learn that our mind is simply
- 16:49a computer processor and that our body is driving
- 16:51the show. Because your body holds trauma, your
- 16:55fascia. We are a fascia being. We are made of
- 16:57fascia. That's all we are. With a bunch of, with
- 17:00some organs, it suspends some organs. It's water
- 17:02fashion that makes water, makes fascia mixed up
- 17:06with a little sand, you know, that's all we are.
- 17:08And so you have to consider, I'm an energetic
- 17:11being. How do I feed my energetic being? How do I
- 17:13clear that? And that's where that plant medicine
- 17:16has really brought in the tools and how to clear.
- 17:20Because when you go, when you start to heal
- 17:22yourself, we really want to focus on if you
- 17:24really back up. Global view, hydration,
- 17:28remineralization, detoxification on those five
- 17:32levels. And then you. We give stem cells to give
- 17:36somebody a really big boost and turn around in
- 17:38that health. It really pops you over that little
- 17:39hole, that heel that you get to. But integration
- 17:42and support, you're the one that has to do it
- 17:45all. It is a solo journey. You cannot take it by
- 17:49yourself. You can't. You need help, you need
- 17:53support. You need guidance for someone who's been
- 17:55there. You need somebody on your side that's
- 17:57saying, man, are you sure you want to eat that
- 17:59hamburger today? Because that may not be the best
- 18:01for you. People that call you out on your junk,
- 18:04you got triggered. The trigger tells you where
- 18:08you need to heal. It's not the fact that you got
- 18:09triggered. That's no problem. Turn it around on
- 18:12yourself and say, okay, why was I triggered? How
- 18:15did that make me feel? Where was it in my body?
- 18:18When's the first time I felt that? Take it all
- 18:21the way back and then put your hands on your body
- 18:23and say, man, I'm sorry you had to go through
- 18:24that. I'm sorry you had to go through that. And
- 18:28be kind to yourself. This. You know, I really.
- 18:31Biohacking is a big thing right now. I don't
- 18:33particularly care for the term because I think
- 18:35we're really moving out of the state of fear and
- 18:37pushing and driving and into this state of love
- 18:40and kindness and support. So we try to push
- 18:44people back over to this, just like we do for
- 18:45that health. Because when you're in that bubble
- 18:48of health, that's what you feel and that's what
- 18:50you have.
- 18:53Meredith Oke: So you've mentioned plant medicine and
- 18:56specifically ayahuasca. So tell me a little bit
- 18:59more. Like, what was your impression of it before
- 19:01you did your deep dive? How did you change your
- 19:06mind about it when? What happened when you tried
- 19:09it? Because it sounds like some things.
- 19:12Dr. Tina Hills: It is. It is an experience. So, like I said, we
- 19:16had. It was introduced to me. It just came across
- 19:18on Instagram or email. I can't even remember what
- 19:20it came, but I just saw it. And I was like, oh,
- 19:21that's really interesting. I wonder what that is.
- 19:24And I looked it up and I said, okay, well, that
- 19:26sounds interesting. Put it away. Didn't think
- 19:28about it again. Two years later, it was over and
- 19:31over. And so we say that it's calling you. It was
- 19:33calling me to come visit. We went down to Costa
- 19:36Rica to a resort there and participated in the
- 19:40ceremonies with Taido Juanito he's out of
- 19:43Colombia. He's one of the main. He's like a
- 19:45seventh or eighth generation shaman out of
- 19:47Colombia. And when you go into ceremony, it's
- 19:50actually really, really kind of like being in the
- 19:52er. It's dark rather than light, but it's dark,
- 19:55it's loud. There's people crying and screaming
- 19:58and laughing and running around and dancing.
- 20:00Meredith Oke: This all makes sense to me.
- 20:03Dr. Tina Hills: Smoke and light, it was just fun stuff. But when
- 20:07you go in, you have to do ayahuasca, especially
- 20:11with people who know what they're doing, because
- 20:13this is a traditional medicine that's about 5,000
- 20:16to 10,000 years old. And these people have been
- 20:18working with this medicine since they were
- 20:20children. And so they really know the intricacies
- 20:23and how to deal with the medicine. But you go in
- 20:26and you have, you go in, you have a cup of
- 20:29medicine. It's in a little shot, you know, a
- 20:32little shot glass, just one cup at a time. And
- 20:35then you go and lay down on your mat. And it's
- 20:37just a, like a twin mattress that you have set
- 20:39up. There's. There was about 80 people in our
- 20:41group. After you drink the medicine, you go lay
- 20:43down in it and you sit there for about an hour,
- 20:45quiet. It's called the noble silence. Everyone's
- 20:48quiet. And then the action starts, the music
- 20:51starts, the vomiting, the singing and dancing.
- 20:54You're getting blessings from people. But when
- 20:57you do plant medicine, what it does is it's. It's
- 20:59kind of like ketamine in the error. It
- 21:01dissociates you from your ego and turns off your
- 21:03thinking mind. It takes off all your filters so
- 21:06you can see a different reality. It's almost,
- 21:09it's the closest thing that to a near death that
- 21:10I've had because you, all of your filters are
- 21:12gone and you can see what's actually happening
- 21:15around you. And it shows you what's in your body.
- 21:19To get the trauma out of your body. Your sig3
- 21:23gene determines where you store trauma. Ayahuasca
- 21:27is, it goes in, it actually maps out your DNA.
- 21:29There's been studies, there's been tons of
- 21:31studies. This, especially in Europe, it goes in,
- 21:33it maps out your DNA, finds that trauma, and it's
- 21:37sitting in your water, your fascia, and it kind
- 21:39of brings it into your bowels or into your tears
- 21:42or wherever it needs to go so that you can purge
- 21:44it out. And so it's literally you're purging
- 21:46energetic waste out of your body. It's just that
- 21:49stagnant water, you know, It's. It's stagnant. So
- 21:52it grows things in there. You hold things in
- 21:53there. It's bound up with the fascia, you know,
- 21:57so you have. If you can imagine, you have all
- 21:58your easy water, you have your fascia bound up
- 22:01around from an injury. So I. I spray. Just say
- 22:04somebody spraying their ankle, it twists the
- 22:05fascia up because that's your shock absorber.
- 22:08That fascia holds £2,000 per square inch. And so
- 22:11as that binds, it kind of gets stuck, then it
- 22:14gets adhered, then it gets dehydrated and
- 22:15crackly. So as you go into that fashion, you
- 22:18start to release it. You release that energetic
- 22:21trauma. The water let the flow come in, Blood
- 22:24vessels start to flow, nerves start to FL. Flow.
- 22:27Because we. The majority of our nerves are in our
- 22:28fascia. It's not in our brain. You know, it's
- 22:30like 100 times more in our fascia. And so when
- 22:34you work with ayahuasca, then you start to deal
- 22:37with those energies on a different level. Because
- 22:39now I'm familiar with my body. If I go on a
- 22:42journey, I know where I'm going, I know how to
- 22:45get there, and I'm comfortable getting there
- 22:47because I'm. I'm not distracted by all the
- 22:49visuals. I take the visuals in, I say, okay, how
- 22:51do I learn from this? And. And then you just
- 22:53start to apply those through integration, because
- 22:55you learn. And it may not be that night, it may
- 22:59be a year later, where you go, oh, my gosh. I had
- 23:01that ceremony that told me this was going to
- 23:02happen. And so then you go through, and it just
- 23:05stays with you. And the medicine's always with
- 23:07you once you have it. But we do the same thing
- 23:10with ketamine. We've used it in the ER to do
- 23:12things like this. I had a guy who came in for
- 23:13shoulder dislocation. Ketamine. You give it in,
- 23:16the IV shuts off the ego, separates you from your
- 23:19mind. You're still awake. I can talk to you, you
- 23:21can hold a conversation, but you have no clue
- 23:23what's going on. Had a guy came in for shoulder
- 23:25dislocation, gave him some ketamine while he was
- 23:29there. He said, I'm suicidal. I'm incredibly sad.
- 23:33So I said, all right, man, let's help you out.
- 23:35While I was reducing his shoulder, and Troy
- 23:37happened to meet my spouse, happened to be
- 23:38working with me. We said, all right, let's get
- 23:40this guy turned around. So we started telling him
- 23:43all these things about, you are loved, you are
- 23:45worthy, and just going down this list of you love
- 23:48your body. You love yourself. You're worthy of
- 23:50that love. When he. And then I kept him overnight
- 23:53to monitor him when he woke up the next day. And
- 23:56as we're starting to talk to him, he's like, man,
- 23:57I feel fantastic. I feel great. I've never felt
- 24:00this good in my life. You know, it just because
- 24:02he had the opportunity to somebody tell him, man,
- 24:04you're okay. And I want to tell everybody that
- 24:07you are okay. You're perfect just the way you
- 24:09are. You're just in your process.
- 24:13Meredith Oke: Yeah, we all are. And so do you think that. That
- 24:17those messages of love sort of penetrated his
- 24:23consciousness differently because you'd given him
- 24:25the ketamine for his shoulder and his ego was out
- 24:27of the way? Is that what you're saying?
- 24:29Dr. Tina Hills: Absolutely. Because then doesn't have any defense
- 24:32against that. He doesn't have that thought
- 24:34because that's the ego telling you that, right?
- 24:36And so it does. He doesn't have that thought of,
- 24:38man, I want to kill myself now. He has that
- 24:40thought of, wait a minute. I don't want that
- 24:42anymore. Now, hey, I want to go have a good day
- 24:45today. I don't want to do that anymore. And it's
- 24:48where you get that you can. You short circuit the
- 24:50neurals, and it's that neuroplasticity, right?
- 24:53And so you can short circuit those. Those little
- 24:56loops. And that's what the medicine does. It
- 24:58helps you short circuit the loops. So instead of
- 25:00staying on that little roller coaster of up and
- 25:02down, I'm suicidal, it says, nope, I'm done with
- 25:04that now. Now I get to make this new loop. And
- 25:07you only have to stop for something once to start
- 25:09neuroplasticity. And so it makes it a very easy
- 25:11process once you know how to do it, you know. So
- 25:15even one of the best examples of that are your
- 25:17spinal reflexes. And spinal reflex. You touch the
- 25:20stove, you pull your hand away so you don't get
- 25:23burned. That message never makes it to your
- 25:25brain. It goes from your hand to your spinal cord
- 25:27and back out for you to respond. You have reef
- 25:31emotional reflexes that are just the same. So,
- 25:34you know, somebody triggers you. You lash out and
- 25:36say something, and then in your mind, you're
- 25:37going, holy crap. Why'd they say that? I didn't
- 25:39want to say that to them. I didn't mean to say
- 25:40that you feel badly. But it's a loop that comes
- 25:44from your spinal reflex to protect you. And so
- 25:47when you. What we want you to do is kind of take
- 25:49a step back, push Things off of you. This is what
- 25:52we do in the er. Like, if I got caught up in the
- 25:55drama of everything, I could not keep track of
- 25:57anyone. Because if I'm saying, oh, their blood
- 26:00pressure is low, everybody agrees their blood
- 26:01pressure is low, but we're stuck in that. We
- 26:03can't get anything accomplished. And so for me,
- 26:06and what I teach my. My clients to do is take
- 26:09that issue, push it off, set it over here where
- 26:12you can look at it with some. Some distance, and
- 26:16then you say, okay, what are my solutions? And
- 26:19you focus on the solution, because then you have
- 26:21action, then things are changing. You're not just
- 26:23stuck in this endless loop of, oh, my gosh, this
- 26:25is happening, and ruminating. You have to stop
- 26:28ruminating and move through it, Emote emotion,
- 26:31move it through your body. It's a lot, isn't it?
- 26:37Meredith Oke: Yeah. So you've. You've talked a lot about trauma
- 26:42being stored in the fascia. Could you explain
- 26:45sort of your understanding of how that works, how
- 26:49the structured water in our body holds trauma and
- 26:51how we can unfold it?
- 26:54Dr. Tina Hills: You think about the body. The body's like a
- 26:56quantum computer. And you have data that's stored
- 26:59in water molecules, your DNA molecules, your
- 27:01fascia, which is water. And then you have
- 27:03microtubules. So if you think your. Your brain is
- 27:06your computer, your. Your network system, your
- 27:10Ethernet hardwire is your nervous system, and
- 27:12your fiber optics are your fascia. And so things
- 27:16travel in a quantum with quantum speed. It's
- 27:19biophotons, bioacoustics. It is. It's everywhere
- 27:24in your body because it's what you are. And what
- 27:27happens is that fascia gets bound up and it keeps
- 27:30that trauma in there, because when you have. And
- 27:32it doesn't have to be big, it can be small. My
- 27:35mom yelled at me, and they didn't yell at my
- 27:37sister, and we were doing the same thing. It
- 27:38doesn't have to be anything big, but it's a shock
- 27:41to the body. And so it walls it off. And that
- 27:44data is stored in there. And then we. If it
- 27:47doesn't, if it's not dealt with, we. We apply
- 27:49layers of protection. Layers, layers, layers. And
- 27:53it's just data that's stored in that water.
- 27:55Literally in quanta.
- 27:59Meredith Oke: Yeah, I mean, that. That makes so much sense, you
- 28:03know, and it's. Yeah.
- 28:04Dr. Tina Hills: Onto DNA. They've shown they can download video
- 28:06onto DNA and replay it. It's just data. It's just
- 28:10information.
- 28:11Meredith Oke: Right.
- 28:11Dr. Tina Hills: Energy. It's just light information. We're light
- 28:14information. Our bodies are light bodies. And so
- 28:17when you put that, you're just. It's like a
- 28:19quantum computer. Quantum computer, yeah.
- 28:23Meredith Oke: And I love this way of talking about it because
- 28:24it's very. Not emotional. I mean, I'm. I think,
- 28:31you know, being able to experience our emotions
- 28:33as key to being a healthy person. However,
- 28:37sometimes we can attach too much to a certain
- 28:40concept. So we're just talking about trauma as
- 28:43information encoded in the body that's having a
- 28:45certain kind of outcome that makes it much more.
- 28:51It's got a more objective feel to it. And it's
- 28:54like, okay, so what are some things I can do to
- 28:56release it? That's it. That's all. And we have
- 28:59this idea that, like, oh, no. Like, I've been
- 29:01traumatized or my kids can't get traumatized or
- 29:03no one. The trauma's there forever, and it's
- 29:05going to impact me for the right. And it's like,
- 29:07no, correct. You can heal it.
- 29:10Dr. Tina Hills: You can get rid of it. Because if you are put
- 29:14here to go through this process when you are a
- 29:18child, you have all of your story. Everyone has a
- 29:21story. The beginning of the story is all the
- 29:24drama. The back half of the story is your hero
- 29:28journey. My good friend Kevin Call talks all
- 29:30about it. It's your hero journey. You come out
- 29:32and you say, okay, I've learned all these things.
- 29:35All of the tools that you learned as a child, you
- 29:37turn around and say, okay, I don't have to rely
- 29:39on them to survive, but I have them in my back
- 29:41pocket if I need them. And all you're doing is
- 29:44gaining wisdom and tools and learning what your
- 29:46boundaries are. And, you know, so I like to look
- 29:51at it objectively. There are emotional. There are
- 29:55very emotional moments. I mean, I've had people
- 29:58where I'm doing myofascial release or fascial
- 30:00maneuvers on them and shoulder. Like out here,
- 30:04just in the fascia wasn't even on a muscle, not a
- 30:06joint. I had a hold of something very not fun for
- 30:10the patient. And as that lets go, there's
- 30:14actually a loud pop almost so you would hear if
- 30:16you popped your neck. But it's out in the fascia
- 30:18that pots. There is a flood of emotion and
- 30:21instant relief because it's now gone. The
- 30:25restriction, the containment has been let go. So
- 30:30now there is more flow, sound, light, water and
- 30:34movement. That's what the body wants, and it
- 30:37wants that flow. We are water beings. We don't
- 30:40want stagnation. So the primary thing in letting
- 30:43go of trauma is going to be fascial maneuvers,
- 30:46because you have to Manipulate it out of the
- 30:47body. Internal trauma has to be healed from the
- 30:50inside out. That's our mental speak. All that
- 30:53junk we've done to ourselves, the physical. All
- 30:56the junk. I mean, just everything you do to the
- 30:58internal body, sometimes that external trauma has
- 31:01to be healed from the outside in. So let's say if
- 31:04I had my trauma, sexual abuse, that was just the
- 31:07backdrop to my story. And so now, as I'm working
- 31:10with. I have Troy work on me. She's doing work on
- 31:13my abdominal area. And it's almost like you took
- 31:16a black dagger out of my lower abdomen. And it's
- 31:20that relief of, oh, my gosh, there's the energy
- 31:22that is gone. I don't have to carry that anymore.
- 31:26It becomes more of a memory than an experience
- 31:29that you're still experiencing 30 years later or
- 31:33however old you are, you know, so it makes it a
- 31:36very interesting and much more beneficial
- 31:39treatment when you can go through all of those
- 31:41areas, because we talk about root disease, root
- 31:44causes all the time, but it's not. It's the
- 31:46seeds, the little seeds of trauma that start to
- 31:50develop those roots and give rise to roots. And
- 31:53so when you get to that little seed down there,
- 31:56you can have healing on all these different
- 31:59levels.
- 32:01Meredith Oke: Right. The seeds of trauma.
- 32:04Dr. Tina Hills: Yeah. Body keeps the score, right? There's a
- 32:06whole book about it.
- 32:07Meredith Oke: Yes. Yeah, there is. And it's. It's interesting
- 32:11to watch. Just sort of in the popular
- 32:14consciousness, the idea of trauma was just
- 32:16something that was never just discussed. Then it
- 32:18was discussed, and now it's sort of like front
- 32:22and center, but in a way where it's like, oh,
- 32:24you. You have trauma and you were triggered. We
- 32:27have to reconfigure society to never trigger
- 32:30anybody ever. And it's like. I don't know that
- 32:34that's necessarily, like, what you're saying.
- 32:36It's like, no, we need to heal ourselves so we're
- 32:39not so easily triggered.
- 32:40Dr. Tina Hills: Well, yeah, it's your trigger. Your trigger is
- 32:42just simply showing you where you need to heal.
- 32:45Yeah. That's all it is. It doesn't have to be
- 32:48some big dramatic event. I mean, sometimes it is.
- 32:50I still have. I still break down and cry. You
- 32:52know, if I have, it comes in, you feel it, you
- 32:56experience and let it go. Because what's coming
- 32:58is going. But also true. What's yours is yours,
- 33:01what's mine is mine. No passingada. And when
- 33:04you're triggered, you start to lash out at
- 33:05people, and that's not okay, because that's not
- 33:08their fault. It's what you hold inside that you
- 33:12need to handle. And when you handle your stuff,
- 33:14then you can turn around and look at everybody
- 33:16else with compassion and say, let me help you
- 33:18through yours. And that's the difference. And
- 33:21that's the integration is because you have to
- 33:24start to spread it out and create that butterfly
- 33:26effect and the overall shift in the consciousness.
- 33:30Meredith Oke: Yes. And that integration piece is so important.
- 33:33I'm glad, I'm glad that you've brought it up so
- 33:35many times, because I do find, and I think so, I
- 33:39think there's a part of the journey where we are
- 33:41just in information collecting mode. We're in
- 33:46knowledge expanding mode. But then at some point
- 33:50that needs to translate into something real. So I
- 33:55can read. You know, I remember I was like reading
- 33:59about why you would wear blue blocking glasses if
- 34:02you were on a screen at night for like months
- 34:05before I actually went on the Internet and
- 34:07ordered some and put them on my face. So there
- 34:10was the integration. So, like going outside in
- 34:14the morning, blocking light, like that's an
- 34:16integration. But I think it's also. And the one
- 34:21where we get a little more tripped up is some of
- 34:23this other stuff that you're talking about. The
- 34:26internal monologues, the way we see the world,
- 34:28the belief systems. Like, it's, it's, you know, I
- 34:31know people who can talk about that stuff, they
- 34:33can write about that stuff, but they're not. But
- 34:37it's not being applied.
- 34:40Dr. Tina Hills: Yeah.
- 34:40Meredith Oke: And we're not being integrated.
- 34:42Dr. Tina Hills: Our practice, our daily practice is integration
- 34:46because we've taken. We. We've put ourselves in a
- 34:49constant ceremony because it's made such a
- 34:52difference in our lives across the board. And so
- 34:55every day we are, you know, and it's a practice,
- 34:57and it's what you develop. It's what you develop.
- 35:00You know, you. The coherence thing, meditation,
- 35:04you have to meditate, you have to have that quiet
- 35:06time, talk to your body, bring it back into
- 35:09communication. The breath work. If you control
- 35:11your breath, you can control everything because
- 35:13it's that you take a little inspiration, hold it
- 35:16for a second, give yourself a long exhale.
- 35:19Stimulates your parasympathetic, pulls you out of
- 35:22Fight or Flight, gives a little bit of space and
- 35:25lets you actually make a decision instead of a
- 35:27reaction. And so, you know, number one, we're
- 35:30gonna. We gotta pull you out of Fight or Flight.
- 35:34That's that meditation, breath work. Learn how to
- 35:36get your body out of that. And the, the easiest
- 35:39way to do it is take an inhale and then a longer
- 35:41exhale because it stimulates that vagal nerve
- 35:44that comes right here and turns it into
- 35:46parasympathetic fight or flight is down, chills
- 35:50out the body. It says, everything's okay. Let's
- 35:53see what we're doing now. You know, and I think
- 35:55that's one of the greatest things about the ER
- 35:57too, is because it's made me. It. It teaches you
- 36:00how to speak, how to think with logic in
- 36:03incredibly emotional situations. Yes. Come and
- 36:06see me, Ari. It's not a good day. If they see
- 36:08work, it is not a good day. It is not. And so,
- 36:12you know, it's. It's been an experience and it's
- 36:18one that we. We're so excited to share because it
- 36:21has changed everyone that we talk to about this.
- 36:24With sunlight, the water, just the things that
- 36:28we've been mentioning, it changes their lives
- 36:31instantly. But people need to know, again, it is
- 36:34not a quick fix. You can have immediate results,
- 36:37but it takes about a year, it really takes a good
- 36:41year to have your body make that turn all the way
- 36:45to this direction. And walking down the health
- 36:47route, you know, it just takes a little bit of
- 36:49time. And so be patient with yourself.
- 36:52Meredith Oke: Yeah, yeah. And remember, it's a journey. I
- 36:55think, you know, we all want to find the smoking
- 36:58gun, the root cause, the one thing that is
- 37:01responsible for all the bad stuff that's
- 37:03happening to our health. But it's. Yeah, it's
- 37:06multifactorial, it's ongoing, it's nonlinear.
- 37:09I've been hearing from a lot of people lately who
- 37:11are. Who started doing all of the circadian
- 37:14things and then just had incredible insomnia
- 37:18descend upon them.
- 37:22Dr. Tina Hills: Interesting.
- 37:23Meredith Oke: And it turns out they had some emotional. There
- 37:27was an emotional trauma layer.
- 37:30Dr. Tina Hills: Sure.
- 37:30Meredith Oke: And it was, like, sitting underneath. So when
- 37:33they got every. You know, their body was in
- 37:36rhythm and everything was working. It was almost
- 37:37like, oh, okay, it does.
- 37:41Dr. Tina Hills: It will do that.
- 37:41Meredith Oke: Here comes a few more things for you to deal
- 37:44with. And you are going to be awake all night
- 37:46until you do you deal.
- 37:48Dr. Tina Hills: With it because it's going to come knocking on
- 37:49your door. But fasting does that to you. If you
- 37:52go on any kind of food cleanse or fasting, it
- 37:54brings all of that to the. To the surface because
- 37:56it's getting all that junk out. And fast can be
- 37:59incredibly emotional because you're releasing and
- 38:02you're letting go of all that. All the toxins.
- 38:05Meredith Oke: Yeah, right. Yeah. This is a really important
- 38:09thing to bring up now that we're. Now that we're
- 38:11talking about it. So I was thinking about it a.
- 38:13The insomnia but now you're talking about the
- 38:14fasting. It's like. And that's why we talk about
- 38:16it non linearly. So we could do all of these
- 38:20things to get our body back in balance and to
- 38:26have our, our rhythms functioning properly. And
- 38:29it's like, because our body's experiencing that
- 38:33safety and that coherence, there may be all kinds
- 38:37of surprises. And it's like, why am I worse? I'm
- 38:41doing all the things.
- 38:43Dr. Tina Hills: But you're not worse.
- 38:44Meredith Oke: You're not worse.
- 38:45Dr. Tina Hills: You're not worse.
- 38:46Meredith Oke: You're releasing better.
- 38:47Dr. Tina Hills: Because now your body says, I'm safe enough to
- 38:49handle this.
- 38:50Meredith Oke: Yes.
- 38:51Dr. Tina Hills: And that's, you know, have a friend. Phone a
- 38:54friend. Yeah, someone that you can trust. Someone
- 38:58that you. That has been through it already.
- 39:01Someone who can guide you to the next step.
- 39:03Because, you know, with Troy and I, what we
- 39:05really focus on, we had this, this great
- 39:07relationship because we worked before we were
- 39:09together. And so it really let us have this trust
- 39:12and this completely different perspective of what
- 39:14a relationship is going to be. And so what we.
- 39:17When we've got, while we've gone down this path,
- 39:19it'll be like one of us gets a little bit ahead
- 39:22and then we say, okay, come on, catch up. So it's
- 39:24kind of this stepwise pattern and we've done that
- 39:26with each other the whole time. Okay, I found
- 39:28this. This is really working. This isn't working.
- 39:29Let's try this. And we kind of pull each other
- 39:31along. And so I liken it to rolling a ball
- 39:34appeal. She's in her bubble, I'm in my bubble.
- 39:37We're pushing the ball together, and we have to
- 39:40keep it even going up the hill. And so everything
- 39:43we do is focusing on that. We don't look behind
- 39:46us. If something comes up from behind, we say,
- 39:49man, that really, that was kind of sucked. We got
- 39:51to get over that. Let's. How do we get over this?
- 39:53And we work through it and then we just keep
- 39:55pushing that ball because it's a lot more fun to
- 39:58play games with that ball than it is to think
- 39:59about what happened in the past. But we've
- 40:02already dealt with it, so we're not ignoring it.
- 40:05We've already moved through it and let it process
- 40:08through our bodies and, and, and our emotional
- 40:11state. And like, okay, if I had this happen when
- 40:14I was a child, here's the tool I learned that I
- 40:17had. How can I make that a beneficial tool? Get
- 40:20rid of the ones that no longer serve. Don't use
- 40:23them anymore. Tools being all of the things we've
- 40:29talked about your emotional sport. Just different
- 40:31tools that you gain.
- 40:34Meredith Oke: Yeah. And I think people are drawn to different
- 40:38things. And you know, like, I was very drawn to
- 40:42tools that were very cerebral and word oriented
- 40:47because that's how I, you know, that's how I'm
- 40:49cognitively oriented. So things where I would,
- 40:53would do a lot of writing, a lot of journaling, a
- 40:56lot of like writing down my thoughts and
- 40:58questioning them on paper and other people, I was
- 41:01like, this is amazing, Try it. And they were
- 41:03like, I, I hate this. I'm. It's. What are you
- 41:05talking about? Like, this is useless. But I found
- 41:07it, like completely change, transformed my life,
- 41:11like in a profound way. But that's what I was
- 41:13drawn to. So.
- 41:15Dr. Tina Hills: But that was your patient, right? So it's your
- 41:18quiet time, it's your time with yourself. It's
- 41:20reflection and, and so it works for you. That
- 41:24does not work for me.
- 41:27Meredith Oke: That's what I learned. So other people, you know,
- 41:31like. Yeah, like my brother, for example, he, he
- 41:34started like running marathons. Just being in
- 41:39constant, like being, being in physical movement
- 41:42all of the time. And that's, that's his play,
- 41:44that's his meditation practice, I would say.
- 41:47Okay, you mentioned something earlier that I want
- 41:49to circle back to and then I'm going to open it
- 41:53up because this is a podcast interview and also a
- 41:57QVC Pro member event. So we have a few people on
- 42:02Liselle Violeta. If anyone has questions, put
- 42:05them in the chat or you're welcome to jump on if
- 42:09you want to unmute yourself to do that. So I'll
- 42:13circle back to you in a second. But Tina, you
- 42:16mentioned earlier that you worked for a small
- 42:19local independent hospital that got bought by a
- 42:22conglomerate and a lot of things changed. Tell
- 42:27us, like, what changed? How is it different? What
- 42:29did you learn about the healthcare system in that
- 42:31experience?
- 42:33Dr. Tina Hills: I was, well, I was, you know, I was, I was safely
- 42:35protected in the military for a long time, so I
- 42:38didn't have to deal with the reality of what was
- 42:41going on in the hospital system. And so we had
- 42:43the last physician owned hospital in Texas and it
- 42:46was a private group and it was a democratic
- 42:49group. And when the conglomerate came in first,
- 42:52they took that group, they bought the group
- 42:54first. And they totally dictate how you can
- 43:00practice medicine. You don't have free thought
- 43:04anymore on how you practice. There's very certain
- 43:06things that you have to do. Everything is on a
- 43:09time. You have two minutes to see a patient, you
- 43:11have five minutes to start a chart, you have one
- 43:13hour to get them to just, just everything was
- 43:15like timed and if you didn't make those, that
- 43:17you're getting in trouble for not making those
- 43:19time. It was just a completely different
- 43:21environment.
- 43:22Meredith Oke: And you're used to. I'm used to giving self love
- 43:26messages to the depressed guy with a dislocated
- 43:28shoulder. And they're like, no, you have two and
- 43:30a half minutes.
- 43:32Dr. Tina Hills: Yes.
- 43:33Meredith Oke: Wow.
- 43:34Dr. Tina Hills: Yeah.
- 43:34Meredith Oke: Okay.
- 43:35Dr. Tina Hills: So it was, it's just corporate medicine versus a
- 43:38private practice almost, you know, just very,
- 43:40very different. And a lot of rules, a lot of
- 43:43rushing around, a lot of not fun, not fun for the
- 43:49patient. You know, it wasn't fun for us, but the
- 43:52patients were suffering.
- 43:54Meredith Oke: Right.
- 43:56Dr. Tina Hills: So I had to get out of there.
- 43:58Meredith Oke: Yeah, no, that's crazy because you are someone
- 44:03with your body of work who's bringing a lot more
- 44:06than just the very specific acute required
- 44:11response. You're bringing so much more to the
- 44:13table. And that model basically erases any chance
- 44:17of that happening.
- 44:19Dr. Tina Hills: We made it happen.
- 44:22Meredith Oke: You found a way. Yeah.
- 44:25Dr. Tina Hills: I Talked to probably seven out of 10 patients
- 44:27about some sort of quantum health. And they're
- 44:30very open people. People are, are just craving
- 44:34something different.
- 44:35Meredith Oke: So you are talking to them about this in the AR
- 44:39while they're in there?
- 44:40Dr. Tina Hills: Oh, yeah, all the time. I would have some
- 44:44discharge instructions because I have to meet a
- 44:45standard of care. So somebody comes in for a
- 44:48urinary tract infection, here's your antibiotic
- 44:51and here's your discharge instructions for uti.
- 44:53And here's how you get your gut back in shape
- 44:55after you take this antibiotic. Because it's
- 44:57going to make you have these emotional things
- 44:59that's going to make you have these physical
- 45:00things. And you need to get your body back in
- 45:01gear. It's going to take six months. And so it
- 45:04would have that conversation. And so that leads
- 45:07you all the way into see the sunrise, get in the
- 45:09uva, put your feet on the dirt. You know, it just
- 45:11leads you down that path. And so you get to talk
- 45:14to a lot of people about it. And everyone, even
- 45:17the especially nursing staff, had a friend of
- 45:19mine who was a nurse for a long time and ended up
- 45:21getting colon cancer at a very young age. And I
- 45:24said, man, get out there and start doing this
- 45:25circadian stuff. He text me at the two days into
- 45:29it, he text me, said, tina, I haven't felt this
- 45:30good in 10 years. Wow, two days. It's an
- 45:34immediate. That's what say you can have immediate
- 45:36results, but the, the actual change of
- 45:40symptomology and the disease process takes a
- 45:42little Bit longer.
- 45:43Meredith Oke: Right.
- 45:43Dr. Tina Hills: That takes about that year.
- 45:45Meredith Oke: Yeah, but. Yes, but. But your body getting back
- 45:49into rhythm can happen right away in the.
- 45:52Dr. Tina Hills: Yeah.
- 45:52Meredith Oke: So I'm. So I'm. I'm really excited that
- 45:55everyone's into it.
- 45:57Dr. Tina Hills: Yeah, everyone's. There was very few. And, you
- 45:59know, right when you start to talk to someone,
- 46:00whether they're going to listen to any kind of
- 46:02information outside of Western medicine, but it
- 46:04was a good 7 to 8 out of 10 people who were
- 46:07hungry for something different.
- 46:09Meredith Oke: Amazing. So for anyone listening who does work in
- 46:13a traditional healthcare model, tell us again how
- 46:16you slide in. You just put it in their
- 46:20instructions.
- 46:21Dr. Tina Hills: We're going to handle your illness at this time
- 46:24with these medicines. But when these medicines
- 46:26are done, you need to get your body back into a
- 46:28homeostatic place. You have to move it back
- 46:30because these medicines are going to do some
- 46:32damage while you're taking them. And we got to
- 46:33get you back over here where you started. And if
- 46:37you continue doing these practices, they'll
- 46:38actually heal your body.
- 46:42Meredith Oke: And. And people are receptive, Incredibly
- 46:45receptive. See, I love hearing that because so
- 46:50many people are like, yeah, no, but, you know,
- 46:51especially doctors, they're like, nobody cares.
- 46:53Nobody wants it. They just want the pill. They're
- 46:55not interested. And I'm like, are you sure? I
- 46:59feel like they are.
- 47:00Dr. Tina Hills: You're interested, especially when you get into
- 47:03people who are into any kind of. Of plant
- 47:06medicine and kind of know a little bit more
- 47:10information about how the system works and the
- 47:11game of life works. And people. People don't want
- 47:15it anymore. People know it's. It's just a band
- 47:18aid. You know, it's really good at controlling
- 47:21symptoms, but it's not doing anything else. And
- 47:24if you block something that the body's supposed
- 47:26to do naturally, it's always a disaster. And
- 47:29that's what most medications do in the long run,
- 47:31you know, so.
- 47:34Meredith Oke: Right.
- 47:35Dr. Tina Hills: Have a different perspective, though. Yeah,
- 47:37because I've experienced it and I live it every
- 47:39day. And now I'm, you know, all of us, all of our
- 47:43friend, everybody that we. We get on the same
- 47:45pattern. Our business partners, we make sure
- 47:47everybody's doing the same thing. We just got
- 47:49back from Las Vegas. We were going out there to
- 47:50do stem cells, and our business partner sat down.
- 47:55She'd been here all week having all the fruits
- 47:56and vegetables that we eat. Sat down to have one
- 47:59meal. She's like, I can't eat that anymore. She
- 48:00was almost sick. And from that point, that was
- 48:02her last regular, like, meal with gluten. And,
- 48:05you know, all the different things on her
- 48:07sandwich, she's like, nope, I can't do it
- 48:09anymore. I feel, it made me feel too badly. And
- 48:11so people get that shock after they've been
- 48:13exposed. And then it's, it's. Then it's a
- 48:15complete change.
- 48:16Meredith Oke: Right. And so just because people always like to
- 48:22know what do you recommend people to eat? And
- 48:25then questions. Throw them in the chat or put in
- 48:28the chat if you want to come on camera. Okay.
- 48:32Food.
- 48:33Dr. Tina Hills: We're vegan by choice.
- 48:35Meredith Oke: Okay.
- 48:36Dr. Tina Hills: And as the vibration of the body increases, as
- 48:39the health of the body increases, it really kind
- 48:41of chooses for you. I, every once in a while I
- 48:46get a really strong craving for some sort of
- 48:48meat. And if I don't sat, if I can't satisfy that
- 48:51with like mushrooms, beans, something like that,
- 48:54that has a little bit higher protein in it, then
- 48:56I'll have a little piece. But I make sure I have
- 48:57the best of the worst. I typically go with bison
- 49:00because I know that's going to be probably the
- 49:02cleanest. We don't really eat poultry anymore. I
- 49:06don't eat any eggs or dairy at all. Every once in
- 49:10a while, Troy will have an egg, they'll throw one
- 49:12in there. Just because she loves eggs, but she
- 49:14usually regrets it when she's done.
- 49:16Meredith Oke: Interesting.
- 49:17Dr. Tina Hills: But I tell people you have to figure out what
- 49:19your body likes because it depends on where
- 49:20you're starting. And so if you eat something, I
- 49:24want people to go very clean on their eating. Get
- 49:26out of processed foods. If you cannot read the
- 49:27label, put it back, you don't need it. Go to
- 49:31simple, whole natural foods and then start
- 49:34introducing things back. So get really super
- 49:36clean for about two weeks. Have an egg, see how
- 49:39you feel. Have a piece of cheese, see how you
- 49:42feel. And if it makes you feel anything but
- 49:44energized and feeling good, put it back and don't
- 49:46eat it anymore. Makes it really easy because it's
- 49:49you. That's the place where it becomes an
- 49:51individual program is the food. Because with like
- 49:54cold plunge, thermal therapies, circadian, that
- 49:57is across the board, good for everyone. Food is
- 50:00where it becomes a little bit more specialized to
- 50:02your body. And you have to make that decision,
- 50:04but you have to be honest with yourself about how
- 50:05you feel. You can't go down and sit, sit and have
- 50:09a big meal and then realize. And you just need to
- 50:11realize, okay, I'm not going to feel my energy
- 50:13core. I'm not going to feel as light. And then
- 50:16you kind of weave your way through it and work
- 50:18your way through what makes you feel good, you
- 50:21don't want to feel bloated, you don't want to
- 50:22feel heavy, you don't want to feel sleepy. Those
- 50:25are all things that the food is taking your
- 50:27energy instead of giving you energy.
- 50:31Meredith Oke: That's a really helpful way to look at it because
- 50:36I don't, I don't really, I don't bring food up
- 50:38much on this podcast as people probably notice,
- 50:40for the exact reason you just said. I'm like, you
- 50:43know what? I don't know, I don't know what you
- 50:45should eat.
- 50:47Dr. Tina Hills: All natural foods. You're not going to go wrong.
- 50:50Meredith Oke: Yes, I agreed. Yeah, within, yeah, like nobody
- 50:54should be eating hyper processed foods or foods
- 50:57that aren't real food. But beyond that, I'm like,
- 51:00I don't know.
- 51:01Dr. Tina Hills: You really want to stay away from seed oils. So
- 51:05if you're so again, the best of the worst. So we
- 51:07use a brand. I'm going to throw a shout out to
- 51:09cfe. They just got bought out so you have to
- 51:11watch them now. I got to make sure they don't
- 51:12change. They're made with avocado oil, you know,
- 51:16so it's like, so you start with, start with
- 51:18something that you know and you can start making
- 51:20substitutions that you. So instead of a regular
- 51:23chip, you get a chip that's made with avocado oil
- 51:25and cassava flour. So you're getting gluten free,
- 51:28grain free and so you can have that as a snack so
- 51:31you don't feel so deprived and you have your
- 51:34taste buds change. And so as, as you start to
- 51:36clean out your diet, your taste buds change. So
- 51:39just you be kind to yourself. Do not beat
- 51:43yourself up. I just read a study by Eric Topol
- 51:47out of California on Pro and it re just
- 51:51reintroduced the, the dosage of protein because
- 51:54everybody's still caught up on protein and you
- 51:56really want about 0.8 grams per kilogram in a
- 52:00day. If you're over 60. Out of his studies, he
- 52:03recommended 1.2 grams per kilograms of protein
- 52:06because when you get too much protein, then
- 52:08you're talking about kidney damage,
- 52:09cardiovascular disease, it's too much. Your body
- 52:12doesn't need that much. Plus your gut biome makes
- 52:15protein. If you clear off all those receptors and
- 52:19allow it to use the building blocks, the amino
- 52:21acids from fruits and vegetables, you're going to
- 52:25have enough protein because your body's going to
- 52:26make it. We calculated out our meal one day. We
- 52:29had 80 grams of protein and hadn't had dinner yet
- 52:32on fruit and a salad and, and healthy and so it's
- 52:38like you just need to just kind of change what
- 52:41you know and open yourself up to options.
- 52:45Meredith Oke: Right. So tell me, tell me, like, how you got
- 52:49protein from fruit and salad.
- 52:51Dr. Tina Hills: So protein is simply amino acids. The most
- 52:55bioavailable protein is beans, legumes and seeds.
- 53:00Nuts.
- 53:01Meredith Oke: Right.
- 53:02Dr. Tina Hills: About 20, 20, 25 of the protein and meat is
- 53:05bioavailable. The rest of it gets digested and
- 53:08pooped out.
- 53:09Meredith Oke: Yeah.
- 53:09Dr. Tina Hills: And your body. So your body takes that full
- 53:11protein, breaks it down into the amino acids it
- 53:14needs, and creates the proteins that it needs.
- 53:16Because your body's a protein factory. And so
- 53:18it's, It's. If you just eat the parts your body
- 53:21can make the protein that it needs, either one is
- 53:25fine.
- 53:26Meredith Oke: Right.
- 53:27Dr. Tina Hills: It's not wrong. Your body's intelligent.
- 53:32Meredith Oke: Yeah. And I think that's the, the important thing
- 53:34is we, we get a little dogmatic, especially about
- 53:38food. We people get dogmatic about everything.
- 53:43Dr. Tina Hills: And we really just try to make it as simple as
- 53:45possible and still have fun. And that's what it's
- 53:48about. You're here to have fun.
- 53:50Meredith Oke: You know, you know what? Yes. And that's circling
- 53:55back to where we started before. And I, I also
- 53:58just want to say, like, I do some of this, like,
- 54:01super esoteric people that I have followed or
- 54:05read over the years. They do say, they did say
- 54:09that as our frequency rises, our need to eat food
- 54:14will be reduced and our need to eat animal
- 54:17protein will be reduced. I'm not there yet, but I
- 54:20do see what you're saying. And so what we want to
- 54:24look for is not, is this on the good list or the
- 54:26bad list? But how do I feel after I eat it?
- 54:29Dr. Tina Hills: Right.
- 54:30Meredith Oke: How is my energy? How is this resonating with my
- 54:32frequency? Okay.
- 54:35Dr. Tina Hills: Changes day by day.
- 54:37Meredith Oke: Right? Yeah. And yes, in life moments, I've
- 54:42noticed things I used to enjoy and can no longer
- 54:45eat. But I do want to talk about. Yeah. The
- 54:48having fun. We're here to have fun. And at the
- 54:51beginning you said, oh, that moment where. Or not
- 54:55that moment, but reaching the point where you
- 54:56realized, like, it's okay to be happy.
- 54:58Dr. Tina Hills: Yes.
- 55:00Meredith Oke: And it's okay to have fun and to make things fun.
- 55:03Unless it's impossible. Sometimes is impossible.
- 55:06But bounce back to the fun.
- 55:08Dr. Tina Hills: Yes. Really, when you, if you give yourself that
- 55:11little pause and you can step back and really not
- 55:15get involved in the chaos and just really look at
- 55:18what's going on, most of it's just hilarious
- 55:22because we create our own drama. We do it all.
- 55:25It's like we're Creating our story as we go and
- 55:28wow, let's make it more fun. And I think that
- 55:31together it'll shift a lot faster.
- 55:34Meredith Oke: Yeah, I know. And we do. We make up these
- 55:37stories. I've had, like, a really busy couple
- 55:39weeks and like, I feel these moments where I'm
- 55:41like, I've only sanctioned your. And then I'm
- 55:43like, what are those things, Meredith? What are
- 55:45they? I'm like, oh, I get to interview Tina on a
- 55:49podcast. Oh, I get to help fundraise for my
- 55:51children's school district. Oh, I get to like,
- 55:54write a blog post. Like, these are great things.
- 55:56But my mind. My mind likes to take everything and
- 56:00just turn it into a storm cloud.
- 56:02Dr. Tina Hills: That's what we've been trying to do, you know,
- 56:05that's what. That's what everybody has taught you
- 56:06what to do. And so it's just change of
- 56:08perspective. The first thing that happens, change
- 56:10in perspective. And just saying, I'm really okay.
- 56:14I don't want to do this anymore because it hurts
- 56:16too much. What else can I do differently? And
- 56:19people will not change until the pain becomes too
- 56:21great, you know, and so don't wait that long.
- 56:26Meredith Oke: Yes.
- 56:27Dr. Tina Hills: Have fun before it gets too late.
- 56:28Meredith Oke: A good marker of growth. It's like, how little
- 56:31pain do I have to be in before I make a required
- 56:33change?
- 56:36Dr. Tina Hills: Perfect. Perfect.
- 56:37Meredith Oke: A little bit less each time. Hopefully a lot less
- 56:40each time. Quantum leaps. Let's think in quantum
- 56:42leaps.
- 56:42Dr. Tina Hills: There you go.
- 56:44Meredith Oke: Violeta wanted to jump in. Do you want to unmute
- 56:48yourself, Violeta? Hi.
- 56:52Dr. Tina Hills: Hi there.
- 56:53Meredith Oke: Nice to meet you, Violeta. I am. I'm a
- 56:57psychiatrist and I have various different roles.
- 57:01One is the emergency department. I'm actually.
- 57:03The reason I'm not on video is because I'm
- 57:05getting ready for my shift soon. And the other is
- 57:12neurotherapeutics. So amongst the. The procedures
- 57:16is ketamine administration, too.
- 57:20Dr. Tina Hills: What about. I'm sorry, what about it?
- 57:25Meredith Oke: That I administer ketamine as one of my other
- 57:30therapeutic tools.
- 57:34Dr. Tina Hills: Oh, sorry, tool. Yeah.
- 57:38Meredith Oke: Yeah, it is. But the more. And right now I'm. I'm
- 57:43actually going to transition somewhat into a mod.
- 57:49A model where I can incorporate quantum concepts
- 57:53freely, which will be great. But one thing I have
- 57:58noticed, even in the current allopathic model
- 58:02where I'm administering ketamine, is how its
- 58:07limitations and it really doesn't suit everybody.
- 58:14And I'm wondering, given your experience or
- 58:22exposure, what do. What do people usually think
- 58:25about it? When I. When patients come to me, they
- 58:30have. They have, you know, thoughts that this is
- 58:32going to Address everything or that. It's. It's
- 58:35a. It's really like a harmless, harmless agent.
- 58:43What's. What has your experience been?
- 58:45Dr. Tina Hills: So typically, what will happen is you have that
- 58:48breakdown of the consciousness and the. And the
- 58:51ego just long enough to get you. Get you in the
- 58:55door. That is where the integration comes in.
- 58:59Plant medicine is simply a door that opens to a
- 59:03different perspective. That's all it's doing.
- 59:06Things like ayahuasca can actually get the trauma
- 59:09out, but when you have something like ketamine,
- 59:11you're overriding those. Those systems that are
- 59:13in place so that you can reprogram them. And that
- 59:17is why integration is the most important part of
- 59:20all of this. Because now I have somebody who is
- 59:22vulnerable, and we can say, okay, this is. This
- 59:26happens before you ever even give ketamine. You
- 59:28have this plan in place, in. Okay, what are we
- 59:31addressing? I do body work when I have people on
- 59:35it, and so I help get some of that trauma out.
- 59:37And as they're coming out, we are talking. We're
- 59:40talking about their trauma, what they experienced
- 59:43during the journey, how do we apply those things?
- 59:47And we really talk a lot about the experiences
- 59:50that we've had in both the ER and in our own
- 59:52lives. And that's telling. That story of how you
- 59:55integrate is going to be one of the most
- 59:56important things. You need to experience ketamine
- 59:59yourself. So you know what it feels like. Yeah.
- 1:00:05Meredith Oke: Opportunities like that for professionals are few
- 1:00:08and far between.
- 1:00:09Dr. Tina Hills: They are. But, you know, you have somebody with.
- 1:00:12There's tons of ketamine clinics that are
- 1:00:14starting to pop up. But that may be something
- 1:00:16that I would really consider because I wouldn't
- 1:00:18do anything that I would ask somebody to do. I
- 1:00:19would never send someone to Ayahuasca. I would
- 1:00:21never have anybody use psilocybin if I hadn't
- 1:00:24done it myself and knew what it felt like.
- 1:00:27Meredith Oke: Yeah. And I think perhaps a different. A
- 1:00:31different setting maybe, because I think it as
- 1:00:33you. Oh, I don't know. But in my current setting
- 1:00:36in allopathic medicine, where I practice, it's
- 1:00:39definitely not something. I think there would be
- 1:00:43some scrutiny.
- 1:00:45Dr. Tina Hills: Oh, yeah, absolutely. This is going to be
- 1:00:47something that's in a private practice where you
- 1:00:49have someone who's really cold, set and set is
- 1:00:51really isolated out. It's set and setting is
- 1:00:55everything. You have to set the intention. You
- 1:00:57have to set the space so that it's calm, it's.
- 1:00:59It's inviting, it is safe for that person. And as
- 1:01:03they start to go down, they have to be able to
- 1:01:05really let go, because people can still kind of
- 1:01:07hold on, and it becomes a little bit of a fight
- 1:01:10as they go down. But if you have them set, we're
- 1:01:14going to have fun today. We're going to do this
- 1:01:16work, but we're going to have fun. And the energy
- 1:01:18that you bring into that room is going to make
- 1:01:20the difference. When I was working on that guy
- 1:01:22with the shoulder, I was in a freestanding. I was
- 1:01:24called a freestanding er. He was the only one
- 1:01:26there, and so I had all the time in the world to
- 1:01:28spend with him. And then I had a few patients
- 1:01:31trickle in, but my attention was. I had had the
- 1:01:33ability to give my patient that. That attention.
- 1:01:37And so if I do it now, it's not typically in the
- 1:01:39er. It's typically done in right over there on
- 1:01:43that couch, actually. Or people can come over
- 1:01:46here and they lay down right there and have a
- 1:01:49great experience. And it, like I said, just when
- 1:01:51you guide them, it depends on how you hold that
- 1:01:53space and how you control that space. That. Yeah.
- 1:01:59Meredith Oke: Oh, yeah, definitely.
- 1:02:01Dr. Tina Hills: Yeah.
- 1:02:01Meredith Oke: Thank you.
- 1:02:02Dr. Tina Hills: You're so welcome.
- 1:02:04Meredith Oke: Thanks, Violeta. Good to see you. All right,
- 1:02:10Tina, this was amazing. We'll have to do it again
- 1:02:13sometime.
- 1:02:14Dr. Tina Hills: All right.
- 1:02:15Meredith Oke: And any. Are there any last thoughts coming to
- 1:02:18you that you want to share? I think. Feel like
- 1:02:20there might be.
- 1:02:24Dr. Tina Hills: I think we got it out okay. I think got a. I
- 1:02:27think we have a good one for the day. That's a
- 1:02:29lot to think about for people.
- 1:02:32Meredith Oke: Yeah, it is. We. We covered. We covered a lot of
- 1:02:34bases there.
- 1:02:35Dr. Tina Hills: We did cover a lot of bases.
- 1:02:38Meredith Oke: And so, yeah, just maybe after you listen to
- 1:02:42this, go for a little walk, or maybe you're
- 1:02:44already out for a walk and let it process.
- 1:02:48Dr. Tina Hills: And I'm happy to have people reach out to me and
- 1:02:51ask me questions. I'm easy. Really, really super
- 1:02:54easy to find me online. And so just reach out.
- 1:02:58Meredith Oke: So, yes, let's tell people how to find you. So
- 1:03:00you have a private practice. Is that in Florida?
- 1:03:04Dr. Tina Hills: It's a concierge, actually. So we kind of go. But
- 1:03:07I have heal me backslash. Dr. Tina Hills is
- 1:03:11probably the easiest. Our website is being redone
- 1:03:13right now, and so it's taken. It's under
- 1:03:14construction. That's probably the easiest. Other
- 1:03:17than Instagram. It's Progressive Health
- 1:03:20Management. PHMX or Dr. Tina Hillsdio.
- 1:03:23Meredith Oke: Either one on Instagram. Okay. And yeah, look up
- 1:03:28Tina. Connect with her. And yeah, thanks for
- 1:03:32being an amazing. An amazing light in the world.
- 1:03:36Dr. Tina Hills: You brought this. This knowledge into the world
- 1:03:39and exactly when it was needed. Man, and it's
- 1:03:41just. Thank you. Thank you. Because you
- 1:03:44participated in my healing journey to a point
- 1:03:46that I cannot even express my gratitude. You and
- 1:03:49Carrie and everybody. And I truly appreciate it
- 1:03:51because I wouldn't be here without you. So thank
- 1:03:53you.
- 1:03:55Meredith Oke: Thank you, Tina. Thank you so much. I look
- 1:03:58forward to chatting with you again and covering
- 1:04:01even more.
- 1:04:02Dr. Tina Hills: Yeah. Talk about something more specific next
- 1:04:04time so we can.
- 1:04:05Meredith Oke: Yeah, I love to do that. Yeah, do, like, a big,
- 1:04:07broad overview, and then next time we can go
- 1:04:10deep. Deep. Maybe ayahuasca or something. I
- 1:04:12haven't gone deep on that yet.
- 1:04:15Dr. Tina Hills: All right, girl.
- 1:04:16Meredith Oke: All right. Thank you.
- 1:04:17Dr. Tina Hills: Bye. Bye.
