- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Why fake going to roll right? Dumps it off into
- 0:07Speaker 2: the right flasf to Michael Pumpers, who bounces off a
- 0:09Speaker 2: one tackler cats inside the forty down of the thirty
- 0:12Speaker 2: five yard line.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:15Speaker 4: Matt Pumpfake's looking at the gold line. He throws it
- 0:17Speaker 4: into the m zone.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Touchdown, Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching
- 0:22Speaker 2: the end zone. A ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpers,
- 0:26Speaker 2: and the kid out of Washington State has found himself
- 0:29Speaker 2: a place.
- 0:30Speaker 4: On this team.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Now, here's your host, Nasa Chovie. Welcome in, Welcome into
- 0:36Speaker 1: another edition of Hawk Talk. The Seahawks took down the
- 0:39Speaker 1: Tennessee Titans twenty to seventeen on Christmas Eve, Mary, Christmas.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Everyone out there, Happy holidays. It's been good for Seahawks fans.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Bump the last two weeks, thrilling wins game winning drives,
- 0:50Speaker 1: two twenty to seventeen victories.
- 0:52Speaker 4: The Seahawks hopes are not only.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Live, Bump, they're live and well because the Seahawks control
- 0:58Speaker 1: of their own destiny moving forward, you win two, you're in.
- 1:01Speaker 1: You still have an opportunity to get the sixth seed
- 1:03Speaker 1: in the NFC playoffs. So right now, as of today,
- 1:06Speaker 1: on December twenty seventh, things are pretty good, Bump. So Bump,
- 1:10Speaker 1: tell me about the Titans game? Man, where are your
- 1:11Speaker 1: main takeaways? Would you leave that day feel like.
- 1:15Speaker 5: I left feeling like Gino is still the guy and
- 1:19Speaker 5: will be the guy in reminding folks like, look now,
- 1:22Speaker 5: there's no competition between him and Drew, right, it's a
- 1:24Speaker 5: little friendly rivalry, all right. Drew ninety two yard drive
- 1:27Speaker 5: to win the game. That's what sub appreciate you, dog,
- 1:30Speaker 5: held you down. Gino put together ninety six yard drive
- 1:33Speaker 5: won the game winner, but it's set up the next drive,
- 1:35Speaker 5: the longest drive of the season. Gino had two touchdowns,
- 1:38Speaker 5: was in complete control of the game. The first half
- 1:40Speaker 5: didn't look too great for Geno, but then the second
- 1:42Speaker 5: half they settled down.
- 1:43Speaker 3: The velocity and the football look good.
- 1:45Speaker 5: You got clutch receptions from Tyle Lockett from dk JSN
- 1:50Speaker 5: is doing this thing. He's getting comfortable out there and
- 1:52Speaker 5: our guy boy yay. It's been with four, five, six
- 1:55Speaker 5: weeks since we saw him get after the quarterback he
- 1:57Speaker 5: has two sacks. So I saw a team that once
- 1:59Speaker 5: again enough to win the ball game twenty to seventeen,
- 2:02Speaker 5: the exact same score as the week before, but did
- 2:05Speaker 5: it in a different way to end the game. Sacks
- 2:07Speaker 5: won the game this year, this week, where last week
- 2:09Speaker 5: it was interceptions that won the game. So I'd like
- 2:12Speaker 5: to see a complete game. The run game wasn't where
- 2:14Speaker 5: we wanted it to be. But you take a win.
- 2:16Speaker 5: As Big Race says, a win isn't ugly enough to
- 2:20Speaker 5: ever give it back, so you will take a win
- 2:22Speaker 5: wherever you can. And this was who this team is.
- 2:25Speaker 5: It's no surprise that they're winning close ones like this, No.
- 2:28Speaker 4: And I love it.
- 2:29Speaker 1: You're right, you know, at this point in the league,
- 2:31Speaker 1: it's not the BCS, it's not the colleor football playoffs.
- 2:33Speaker 1: There's no committee. You just need to win ball games.
- 2:35Speaker 1: And that's where this team is at right now. And
- 2:38Speaker 1: it's really cool to see the resilience of this team.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Two weeks in a row. We got a lot of
- 2:41Speaker 1: young guys on the team, but backs against the wall,
- 2:43Speaker 1: we got to have it right now and they did.
- 2:46Speaker 4: And even on the defensive side, right they gave.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Up the touchdown the drive before, but when the game
- 2:49Speaker 1: was on the line, Tanneh had plenty of time to
- 2:52Speaker 1: get down the field and get three points. They weren't
- 2:54Speaker 1: able to do that because of the plays made by
- 2:56Speaker 1: you mentioned it, Draymond Jones, Boy Mafe and Treequallen Arical
- 3:00Speaker 1: one excuse me had a really good game too, which
- 3:01Speaker 1: you love to see and I love to see the
- 3:03Speaker 1: second aar they were hitting Boy, Julian Lovequandre Diggs. All
- 3:08Speaker 1: these guys are being physical and breaking up passes and
- 3:10Speaker 1: they've been eliminating the big play, which I love.
- 3:12Speaker 4: To see recently. So another big win for the Hawks.
- 3:16Speaker 1: But we got to turn the page because to keep
- 3:18Speaker 1: on going, the Pittsburgh Steelers are coming to town.
- 3:21Speaker 4: What's on tap? What's on tap?
- 3:27Speaker 1: These Steelers are eight and seven, third place in the
- 3:29Speaker 1: AFC North. They've had an interesting year. They get blown
- 3:32Speaker 1: out by the forty nine Ers to start the season,
- 3:34Speaker 1: but they have impressive wins now over the Browns, the Raiders,
- 3:38Speaker 1: the Baltimore Ravens, which I still scratch my head about,
- 3:41Speaker 1: but they got it done, the LA Rams, the Titans,
- 3:44Speaker 1: the Packers, and the Bengals twice. They have losses to
- 3:47Speaker 1: the Texans, Jags, Browns, Cardinals, Patriots, and Colts as of late.
- 3:52Speaker 4: So they're an interesting team.
- 3:54Speaker 1: They're they're kind of all over the place at quarterback
- 3:56Speaker 1: right now, but they're not gonna down.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Mike Tomlins a great coach.
- 4:01Speaker 1: They're a team that showed some resilience last week against
- 4:04Speaker 1: the Bengals.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Bump.
- 4:05Speaker 4: So what have you seen from these Steelers?
- 4:07Speaker 3: Man?
- 4:08Speaker 5: The Steelers, Let's focus on what they did last week
- 4:10Speaker 5: against Cincy. Now, we all heard about Jake brown especially
- 4:14Speaker 5: around these parts right the fairy tale. It came to
- 4:18Speaker 5: an end this week for Jake Brownie. He was playing
- 4:20Speaker 5: some good football man. The Steelers beat the Bengals thirty
- 4:23Speaker 5: four to eleven last week. Brownie still threw for three
- 4:26Speaker 5: and thirty five yards, but he had a career high
- 4:28Speaker 5: in interceptions. He had three of them. Things on the
- 4:30Speaker 5: other side, Mason Rudolph got his first start in two
- 4:32Speaker 5: years and he played well. Seventeen and twenty seven to
- 4:35Speaker 5: ninety and two touchdowns. Start of the day has to
- 4:37Speaker 5: be George Pickens. He was criticized all week about him
- 4:39Speaker 5: not blocking for his running back. He says, I'm not
- 4:41Speaker 5: here to block, I'm here to catch the football. Score touchdowns.
- 4:44Speaker 5: That's what he did. Four receptions for one hundred and
- 4:47Speaker 5: ninety five yards and two touchdowns and eighty six yard
- 4:50Speaker 5: touchdown and a sixty six yard touchdown. Man, my man
- 4:54Speaker 5: was everywhere. If you're not gonna block, I guess you
- 4:56Speaker 5: put up numbers like that, then all is well, we'll
- 4:59Speaker 5: forgive you.
- 5:00Speaker 1: No, he bought out. I mean good on him, man.
- 5:03Speaker 1: A lot of people talking. He's a headline on every
- 5:05Speaker 1: on Sports Center, ESPN, all the things. He comes out
- 5:08Speaker 1: and absolutely balls out, and Mason Rudolph gives them a
- 5:11Speaker 1: spark that they didn't have when.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Trubisky Sorry I forgot his name.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Mitchell Tubisky was starting those two games after Pikett went down,
- 5:19Speaker 1: and they got some good running backs Bump. We're gonna
- 5:21Speaker 1: get into those in the key matchups with Naje Harris
- 5:23Speaker 1: Jalen Warrens.
- 5:24Speaker 4: So they're doing well.
- 5:25Speaker 1: This game was something that they dominated against the Bengals
- 5:28Speaker 1: who are fighting for a playoff berth at the same time.
- 5:30Speaker 1: So it's definitely a big win as both teams are
- 5:33Speaker 1: on the outside looking in, but Pittsburgh is still trying
- 5:35Speaker 1: to get in the playoffs. They're currently the ninth seed
- 5:38Speaker 1: in the AFC. But now let's take a look at
- 5:41Speaker 1: the head to head comparison between these two teams, Seahawks
- 5:43Speaker 1: and Steelers.
- 5:44Speaker 4: We'll starting the offensive side of the ball.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Things are decently close, with the Seahawks having an edge
- 5:49Speaker 1: in a couple categories. Seahawks are twenty second in the NFL,
- 5:52Speaker 1: averaging three hundred and nineteen yards per game. They're twenty
- 5:56Speaker 1: ninth in the NFL in rush offense was definitely something
- 5:58Speaker 1: they would love to improve on, middle of the pack
- 6:01Speaker 1: when it comes to pass offense fifteenth in the NFL
- 6:03Speaker 1: averaging two hundred twenty nine yards per game, and then
- 6:05Speaker 1: points per game they are nineteenth averaging twenty one point three.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Flipping me over to the other side, the Steelers. They
- 6:11Speaker 1: are twenty sixth in the NFL in total offense, averaging
- 6:14Speaker 1: two hundred and ninety four yards per game, sixteenth running
- 6:17Speaker 1: the ball one hundred and ten yards per game. Struggle
- 6:20Speaker 1: in the past, only averaging one hundred and eighty four
- 6:22Speaker 1: yards per game, that was good for twenty seventh in
- 6:24Speaker 1: the league. And look at the points per game they're
- 6:26Speaker 1: averaging seventeen that is twenty eighth in the league. So
- 6:29Speaker 1: the Seahawks have a slight advantage. I think this you
- 6:31Speaker 1: would take you know, some of the Seahawks players over them. Granted,
- 6:35Speaker 1: they have some good guys on offense from a matchup standpoint,
- 6:37Speaker 1: but the Seahawks have had a better work of you know,
- 6:40Speaker 1: body of work this season and I hope to see
- 6:43Speaker 1: that again carry over to Sunday. But the Steelers do
- 6:46Speaker 1: have some explosive players in offense, so it will be
- 6:47Speaker 1: a fun matchup to look at.
- 6:49Speaker 5: Yeah, they do got to be on point man. We
- 6:50Speaker 5: talk about George Pickings. Naji Harris got warn over there
- 6:53Speaker 5: as well. But defensively is on on paper where the
- 6:56Speaker 5: Steelers have to as the twenty first overall, the Huks
- 6:59Speaker 5: twenty sixth twentieth against the run, the Hawks are twenty seven,
- 7:02Speaker 5: twenty first. Against the past, the Hawks are nineteenth. This
- 7:05Speaker 5: is the stat that kind of baffled me a little bit.
- 7:07Speaker 5: I had to dig a little deeper. Right, the Steelers
- 7:10Speaker 5: are seventh when it comes to points allowed per game nineteen,
- 7:14Speaker 5: the Hawks are twenty third. You look at their stats
- 7:16Speaker 5: above this right past defense, rush, defense, total offense, and
- 7:19Speaker 5: they're hovering around twenty. So what makes them be able
- 7:22Speaker 5: to shut things down? They're just get in the red zone.
- 7:24Speaker 5: They're getting the resuds their top five when it comes
- 7:26Speaker 5: to red zone defense, so they're allowed to get a
- 7:28Speaker 5: whole bunch of yards in between the twenties. Once it
- 7:31Speaker 5: gets in the red zone, they buckle down just a
- 7:33Speaker 5: little bit. So the Hawks have struggled at times in
- 7:35Speaker 5: the red zone, so this is gonna be another good challenge.
- 7:37Speaker 5: But last week they played with the number two defense
- 7:39Speaker 5: in the red zone and they were able to get
- 7:41Speaker 5: points there. So it's gonna be a battle either way
- 7:43Speaker 5: you put it. The Pittsburgh Steelers have thirty two sacks,
- 7:47Speaker 5: the Hawks have thirty seven. When it comes to interceptions,
- 7:51Speaker 5: the Hawks have eleven the Steelers has sixteen. So again
- 7:54Speaker 5: an evenly match team on paper. This is the one
- 7:57Speaker 5: game in a while. I guess I'll give a week
- 8:00Speaker 5: too to why I say, hey, we got him at quarterback.
- 8:03Speaker 3: At the quarterback spy.
- 8:04Speaker 5: Gino's always a guy who's gonna hang in air and
- 8:06Speaker 5: throw hands or whatnot. But with this matchup right here,
- 8:09Speaker 5: I'm thinking, all right, Gino's going to be the guy.
- 8:12Speaker 5: He has to be the guy to win this ballgame
- 8:14Speaker 5: for this team. He did last week. Drew did it
- 8:16Speaker 5: the week before, sprinkle on the run. But get Gino going,
- 8:19Speaker 5: especially in the red zone, Yeah, no question about it.
- 8:21Speaker 1: And I think the cool thing about Gino last week
- 8:23Speaker 1: is not only did you get it done in the
- 8:24Speaker 1: red zone, he did not turn the ball over. He's
- 8:27Speaker 1: only turned the ball over twice in his last five starts,
- 8:29Speaker 1: so he's playing better football at that. From that standpoint,
- 8:32Speaker 1: and as long as the Seahawks protect the ball, I
- 8:34Speaker 1: think this is a game they should win. The Steelers
- 8:36Speaker 1: do a great job of taking the ball away. They're
- 8:38Speaker 1: tied for first and turnover differential at plus ten, So
- 8:42Speaker 1: definitely got to take care of the rock against this team. Now,
- 8:46Speaker 1: for Seahawks fans, we've been out there a long time.
- 8:48Speaker 1: The Seahawks and the Steelers do have a deep rooted history.
- 8:52Speaker 4: We'll jump into that now.
- 8:54Speaker 3: No your history.
- 8:57Speaker 1: I'm still one of those people who is not over
- 8:59Speaker 1: two thousand and five, and I don't care what anyone
- 9:01Speaker 1: tells me.
- 9:01Speaker 4: Doesn't matter.
- 9:02Speaker 1: That's just who I am as a person, and I
- 9:04Speaker 1: haven't let it go anyway. The all time series between
- 9:08Speaker 1: these two teams is tied at ten. Including the playoffs.
- 9:10Speaker 1: The Seahawks are ten and nine in the regular season.
- 9:13Speaker 1: The last meeting, though, the Seahawks took on the Steelers
- 9:16Speaker 1: on Sunday Night Football twenty twenty one. It was Gino's
- 9:19Speaker 1: second start I believe, maybe first start in a Seahawks uniform.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Excuse me, first start after Russell got hurt this in
- 9:25Speaker 1: twenty twenty one, Russell breaks his finger. Seahawks go down
- 9:28Speaker 1: to Pittsburgh and then plan on Sunday Night. The Hawks
- 9:31Speaker 1: were down fourteen to zero in the first half, a
- 9:34Speaker 1: battle back behind some great runs by Alex Collins resting
- 9:37Speaker 1: Pce young Man. He had one hundred yards that day
- 9:40Speaker 1: on twenty carries in one touchdown. But when the game
- 9:43Speaker 1: got really interesting at the end, trailing twenty seventeen hut
- 9:45Speaker 1: or two minutes left in the game, Gino led the
- 9:47Speaker 1: Seahawks in a nine play fifty yard drive, ending with
- 9:49Speaker 1: the Jason Myers field goal that forced overtime. In overtimes,
- 9:54Speaker 1: both teams traded punts on the first possessions. Then on
- 9:57Speaker 1: the seahawks second possession of overtime, Gino Smith was hit
- 9:59Speaker 1: from behind.
- 10:00Speaker 4: T J.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Watt sack fumble gave the Steelers a good field position.
- 10:04Speaker 1: They would kick a field goal two plays later and
- 10:06Speaker 1: win the game that day. Gino was twenty three to
- 10:09Speaker 1: thirty two for two hundred nine yards in one touchdown,
- 10:12Speaker 1: but with sack five times. Dk metcalf l of the
- 10:14Speaker 1: Seahawks receivers with six receptions for fifty eight yards, and
- 10:18Speaker 1: Bobby Wagner and Jordan Brooks each had fourteen tackles. That
- 10:21Speaker 1: game was frustrating, Bump. I remember the Seahawks lost a
- 10:24Speaker 1: lot of close games during that stretch. It was a
- 10:26Speaker 1: really in between time. Obviously, it was cool to see
- 10:29Speaker 1: Geno Smith kind of give you a precursor of what
- 10:31Speaker 1: he could do at the end of games, leading that
- 10:34Speaker 1: game tying field goal drive and that one. But hopefully
- 10:37Speaker 1: the Seahawks can do a little bit more in this
- 10:38Speaker 1: one and get after the Steelers. But it was an
- 10:42Speaker 1: active week in the NFC West, headlined by a showdown
- 10:45Speaker 1: between the Niners and the Ravens. What's the word the
- 10:53Speaker 1: Seahawks or the NFC West champs?
- 10:55Speaker 4: Again, what's the word in the West? On HOWK talk.
- 11:02Speaker 5: Man, the NFC West is heating up. You have the
- 11:04Speaker 5: San Francisco forty nine ers at eleven and four at
- 11:07Speaker 5: the top of the division, the Rams in the Hawks
- 11:10Speaker 5: log jam in the middle, there are both eight and seven,
- 11:12Speaker 5: and then the Cardinals are three and Twelve's man, if
- 11:15Speaker 5: the playoffs started today, the nc West would have three
- 11:18Speaker 5: playoff teams. The Niners are holding down the number one spot.
- 11:22Speaker 5: The Rams and the Seahawks had the final two wildcard
- 11:24Speaker 5: spots at eight. With the records at eight and seven,
- 11:27Speaker 5: the Seahawks control their own playoff destiny.
- 11:29Speaker 3: They win the next two games, they are good to go.
- 11:32Speaker 5: But let's talk about the game of the week, the
- 11:34Speaker 5: forty nine Ers against the Baltimore Ravens. Man, I was
- 11:38Speaker 5: excited for this one. It was Christmas Day, late night game.
- 11:43Speaker 5: Let's see how this thing was gonna go down. And
- 11:46Speaker 5: it didn't go down the way I thought it was.
- 11:48Speaker 5: It was close for a while, ended up being thirty
- 11:50Speaker 5: three to nineteen, but a lot because it's a rock party.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Man, it's hard to overcome foreignterceptions.
- 11:55Speaker 5: It was eighteen to thirty two for two fifty five,
- 11:58Speaker 5: no touchdowns in four interceptions.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Man.
- 12:01Speaker 5: In the four losses this year, Rock perty is completing
- 12:03Speaker 5: seventy percent of his passes passes one thousand and seventeen yards,
- 12:07Speaker 5: three touchdowns to nine interceptions in one fumble. Now I'm
- 12:11Speaker 5: going to give him a little bit of love. Two
- 12:13Speaker 5: of those were on him, the other two aren't get
- 12:15Speaker 5: his head short of gets hit. Maybe he can get
- 12:17Speaker 5: the full ball out of his hands earlier, but I'm
- 12:19Speaker 5: not put all four on party.
- 12:22Speaker 3: But he does get the stat four interceptions.
- 12:25Speaker 5: The game was competitive into the second half, man trailing
- 12:27Speaker 5: sixteen to twelve and the forty Niners putting on the
- 12:29Speaker 5: first possession and the Ravens march down the field. Lamar
- 12:32Speaker 5: Jackson fans Nelson Agalore, still in the league, still making plays.
- 12:36Speaker 5: Six Shard touchdown that made the score twenty three to twelve.
- 12:39Speaker 5: So now the pressures back on the Niners. What is
- 12:41Speaker 5: rock Perty going to do? He throws a picked to
- 12:44Speaker 5: Patrick Queen on the next offensive play. Then Lamar he
- 12:47Speaker 5: threw a second touchdown in the span of eighteen seconds,
- 12:49Speaker 5: finding Zay Flowers, who I think is probably the best
- 12:52Speaker 5: rookie wide received in the league this year, and that's
- 12:55Speaker 5: stilled the game he made. Lamar made his case for
- 12:58Speaker 5: the league MVP, who was twenty three thirty five to
- 13:00Speaker 5: fifty two, two touchdowns and the zero interceptions. He also
- 13:03Speaker 5: had forty five yards on seven Harry's for the Niners.
- 13:07Speaker 5: Kittle and I each had over one hundre yards for
- 13:08Speaker 5: Stephen McCaffrey started a game one hundred three yeards rushing
- 13:11Speaker 5: on fourteen carres and one touchdown. Both teams remain in
- 13:14Speaker 5: first place and still control their destiny to lock down
- 13:17Speaker 5: the number one seed. But to me, this was the
- 13:20Speaker 5: matchup but the two best teams in the NFL, and
- 13:23Speaker 5: Purple got the gold.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Yeah, the fact that they came in there and they
- 13:27Speaker 1: did that in Santa Clara and the Niners have been
- 13:30Speaker 1: the bullies, right. Everyone talked about how you know, essentially
- 13:34Speaker 1: they're the best seaming the league. The Ravens had to
- 13:36Speaker 1: hear it all week. You had Pro football talk, everyone
- 13:38Speaker 1: talking about them. And they went in there and they
- 13:40Speaker 1: punched the bully in the face. I mean, that's what
- 13:43Speaker 1: happened the one. The crazy thing is like, they're an
- 13:46Speaker 1: amazing football team. The Niners still are. They're still probably
- 13:49Speaker 1: the best team in the NFC has right now, right,
- 13:51Speaker 1: but it's it's very interesting to see when someone of
- 13:53Speaker 1: us punches in back. There was less talking. I didn't
- 13:57Speaker 1: see any laughter on the sideline. I didn't se people
- 13:59Speaker 1: getting pea faces. It's just a it's very interesting there,
- 14:03Speaker 1: but no big ups with the Ravens. Those are two
- 14:05Speaker 1: really good football teams and now the hell of a
- 14:06Speaker 1: football game. So we'll see what happens moving forward the
- 14:09Speaker 1: nine er Silk and control their destiny. Like Bump said,
- 14:11Speaker 1: to win the number one seed elsewhere in the division.
- 14:14Speaker 1: We'll just get through these real quick. Saints at Rams.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Rams took down the Saints last Thursday, winning thirty to
- 14:20Speaker 1: twenty two. They are blowing them out thirty seven. Saints
- 14:23Speaker 1: make it interesting late but can't get enough at the end.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Rams hold on Stafford was twenty four to thirty four,
- 14:29Speaker 1: three twenty eight, two touchdowns. Kyron Williams who continues to
- 14:33Speaker 1: just ball out another one hundred yard game for him
- 14:35Speaker 1: and Pooka Nakua continues his dominance one hundred and sixty
- 14:38Speaker 1: four yards, nine receptions, one touchdown. I would say if
- 14:44Speaker 1: you're probably the Rams, He's like, yeah, we knew he'd
- 14:46Speaker 1: be this good.
- 14:46Speaker 4: No, you didn't. Good for you?
- 14:48Speaker 3: Right?
- 14:49Speaker 4: Good?
- 14:49Speaker 3: You're holding for six hundred yards and four touchdowns.
- 14:53Speaker 1: If that man man, I I good for him. Who
- 14:56Speaker 1: go's killing the game. The other matchup Cardinals at Bears.
- 15:01Speaker 1: I mean this was a rough one for two teams
- 15:03Speaker 1: that are struggling. Bears were beating the Cardinals pretty good.
- 15:07Speaker 1: They end up winning twenty seven to sixteen. And you
- 15:11Speaker 1: know you said it a couple of weeks ago, Bump.
- 15:12Speaker 1: I think you said, you know, big ups to Calamary
- 15:15Speaker 1: because he came back when he didn't need to hustle
- 15:18Speaker 1: back for a team that is not very good. Right
- 15:20Speaker 1: he Ne's won three games last nine in a row,
- 15:23Speaker 1: one point, and believe so big ups to him. And
- 15:25Speaker 1: the crazy thing is, but I won't even say too much.
- 15:28Speaker 1: I don run jinx anything. Because Jessica's are three and
- 15:31Speaker 1: twelve does not mean they're not going to give the
- 15:33Speaker 1: Seahawks everything they have In Week eighteen. The Seahawks will
- 15:36Speaker 1: needed to get into the playoffs all this stuff. So
- 15:39Speaker 1: as bad as the Cardinals are right now, I will
- 15:41Speaker 1: not be surprised if that's the close.
- 15:42Speaker 5: Kamp, No, not at all. This is the NFC West
- 15:46Speaker 5: and you never know what's going to go down. You
- 15:48Speaker 5: got four competent quarterbacks, got some good coaches out here.
- 15:52Speaker 5: Don't sleep on no body. But let's focus on the Steelers.
- 15:56Speaker 5: So let's get back to Let's go to man up
- 15:58Speaker 5: and see what these.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Matchups look like.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Man up on Hawk Talk.
- 16:12Speaker 5: All Right, you know you gotta start with the quarterback,
- 16:14Speaker 5: but the Steelers have had several guys play that position.
- 16:18Speaker 5: Man for the third week in a row, there's a
- 16:19Speaker 5: little uncertainty about who the Seahawks will face at quarterback.
- 16:23Speaker 5: Man Mike Tomlin provided some clarity this week. He said, look,
- 16:25Speaker 5: they prepare as if Mason Rudolph will be the quarterback.
- 16:28Speaker 5: We've seen We've seen Kenny Pickett, we've seen Mitch Trubisky.
- 16:32Speaker 5: Now we've seen Mason Rudolph. Man, but let's talk about
- 16:35Speaker 5: Picket for a little bit. Okay, Picket, he's having some
- 16:39Speaker 5: surgery on his ankle. On the year, Picket completed sixty
- 16:42Speaker 5: two percent of his passes for two thousand yards, six
- 16:44Speaker 5: touchdowns and four interceptions.
- 16:46Speaker 3: He was sacked twenty three times.
- 16:48Speaker 2: All Right.
- 16:48Speaker 5: The other quarterback, Mitch Trubisky, the former number two pick
- 16:52Speaker 5: of the Chicago Bears. You talk about finessing the NFL.
- 16:55Speaker 5: This guy might be the captain of the finest game.
- 17:00Speaker 5: He played in a few games. In the games he
- 17:02Speaker 5: did play, he was thirty eight fifty eight three fifty
- 17:04Speaker 5: nine and two touchdowns, three interceptions, and he was sacked
- 17:08Speaker 5: five times after two bad losses, Tomlin again it made
- 17:11Speaker 5: a change, and it says, all right, we went from
- 17:13Speaker 5: Kenny to Trubisky. Now we're going to Mason Rudolph. When
- 17:18Speaker 5: I think of Mason Rudolph, I just think of him
- 17:19Speaker 5: being concussed with a helmet on, with our face masks
- 17:21Speaker 5: walk into the sideline.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Every time, I just get that image out of my head.
- 17:26Speaker 5: I feel bad for associating him with only that, but
- 17:31Speaker 5: that's all I got from my man.
- 17:33Speaker 3: He's had. He's played in nineteen games, eleven starts.
- 17:36Speaker 5: In those games, he's completed sixty one percent of his
- 17:38Speaker 5: passes twenty six hundred and fifty nine yards, eighteen touchdowns,
- 17:42Speaker 5: and eleven interceptions. He started eight games in twenty nineteen.
- 17:45Speaker 5: In one game in twenty twenty twenty one and twenty three, defensively,
- 17:51Speaker 5: the Seahawks hell an opponent to under twenty points for
- 17:53Speaker 5: the second consecutive week.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Let's keep this scene going.
- 17:56Speaker 5: The Hawks were twenty six in the NFL in total
- 17:58Speaker 5: defensive line three hundred and fifty yards per game, and
- 18:01Speaker 5: their nineteen that gets to pass allowing to twenty nine.
- 18:04Speaker 5: I'm just gonna go out and hope that Mason had
- 18:06Speaker 5: his moments last week. You beat the Cincinnati Bengals, you
- 18:11Speaker 5: throw for a bunch of yards, George Pickens bounce back.
- 18:14Speaker 5: Now it's back to reality. You gotta play a defense
- 18:17Speaker 5: that's playing some good football. As a black you hah,
- 18:19Speaker 5: no question. And you're going on the road. You're not
- 18:21Speaker 5: gonna be at home.
- 18:22Speaker 1: You're playing a team that is fighting for their playoff
- 18:24Speaker 1: lives and they've been in this fight mode for the
- 18:27Speaker 1: last two weeks. So yeah, I'm hoping, like you said that,
- 18:30Speaker 1: we get after him. We get after the quarterback, we
- 18:32Speaker 1: sack him, and we make things hard for him. He
- 18:34Speaker 1: comes into the lum and it's gonna be loud. It's
- 18:35Speaker 1: going to me New Year's Eve, so people be rearing
- 18:38Speaker 1: ready to go. Jack Dell fired up. So yeah, I'm
- 18:41Speaker 1: hoping Mason Rudolph had his best game of his career
- 18:43Speaker 1: last week. Now, flipping over to our quarterbacks, you know Smith,
- 18:47Speaker 1: our guy. He made his return to the starting lineup
- 18:49Speaker 1: after missing two games with that groin injury. His stat
- 18:53Speaker 1: line didn't necessarily light the world on fire against the
- 18:55Speaker 1: Titans if you're looking at it, but he is efficient.
- 18:57Speaker 1: He's twenty five thirty six two hundred and twenty seven
- 19:00Speaker 1: yards with two touchdowns. He also led his fourth game
- 19:03Speaker 1: winning drive of the season, recording his fourteenth in his
- 19:06Speaker 1: career in just sixty four starts. I don't think this
- 19:09Speaker 1: gets enough love because people keep saying it. But you
- 19:11Speaker 1: gotta think about that. He's leading game winning drives in
- 19:14Speaker 1: twenty one percent of his starts. It's essentially one of
- 19:16Speaker 1: very five games he's leading a game winning drive.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Crazy.
- 19:19Speaker 1: That's insane to me. You want to talk about clutch
- 19:21Speaker 1: like he is clutch on that game winning drive in Tennessee.
- 19:25Speaker 4: He was three for three on third down. That sounds
- 19:28Speaker 4: pretty damn clutch to me.
- 19:29Speaker 1: I know, Bump, you've been outlining all week how good
- 19:32Speaker 1: the Seahawks have been on these game winning drives and
- 19:34Speaker 1: on third down.
- 19:35Speaker 4: So it's good as see, Geno. Keep that up you.
- 19:38Speaker 1: You know, just nineteen attempts away from passing John Kidnap
- 19:40Speaker 1: for sixth place on the Seahawks all times attempts list
- 19:43Speaker 1: at one thy one hundred and twenty nine. On the year,
- 19:46Speaker 1: he's completing sixty four percent of his passes, three one
- 19:49Speaker 1: hundred and forty five yards, seventeen touchdowns, and ninety interceptions
- 19:52Speaker 1: with a ninety quarter back rating.
- 19:55Speaker 4: Now he's taking on the Steeler team.
- 19:56Speaker 1: We mentioned it earlier and had to head this twenty
- 19:58Speaker 1: one in total defense, twenty first against the pass, twentyeighth
- 20:01Speaker 1: against the run, seventh in points allowed, and thirteenth in sacks. So,
- 20:05Speaker 1: Gino Smith, you know I said earlier, I love that
- 20:08Speaker 1: he's not turning the ball over. I love how he
- 20:10Speaker 1: made three throws bump in that second half, which are
- 20:14Speaker 1: unbelievable because first of all, Seahawks had to score in
- 20:16Speaker 1: every one of those drive to win the game against
- 20:18Speaker 1: the Titans. But he had the one ball the JS
- 20:20Speaker 1: and the one ball the DK and then the one
- 20:22Speaker 1: ball to Kolby. I mean he Gino does not get
- 20:25Speaker 1: enough love for sometimes his precision and his accurate passing
- 20:28Speaker 1: that I think he should.
- 20:30Speaker 4: So I'm all for. I love where Gino's at.
- 20:32Speaker 1: It's good to see him healthy because he gives this
- 20:34Speaker 1: team the best opportunity to win, and I'm looking forward
- 20:36Speaker 1: to seeing what he can do against the Steelers.
- 20:39Speaker 3: I'm on, Gino, keep the good times of rolling.
- 20:41Speaker 5: Man talking about rolling, you got two good running backs
- 20:45Speaker 5: over there for the Pittsburgh Steels.
- 20:47Speaker 3: I'm talking about Naji Harris and Jalen Warren.
- 20:50Speaker 5: Najie Harris man looking for another one thousand yard seasons.
- 20:54Speaker 5: He's this is his third year. He's got back to
- 20:56Speaker 5: back seasons. He's looking for a back to back thousand
- 20:59Speaker 5: yard seasons. He's looking for one more. His three three
- 21:03Speaker 5: hundred and thirty five rush yards or fourth in the
- 21:05Speaker 5: NFL since the start of the twenty twenty one season.
- 21:09Speaker 5: In twenty twenty one, he was voted to the Pro
- 21:11Speaker 5: Bowl and the NFL's All Rookie Team. Back year, he
- 21:13Speaker 5: had twel hundred yards and seven touchdowns, also seventy four
- 21:16Speaker 5: receptions and forward to sixty seven yards and three touchdowns.
- 21:20Speaker 5: Last season, he had one thousand and thirty four with
- 21:21Speaker 5: seven touchdowns. He also had forty one receptions for two
- 21:24Speaker 5: hundred and twenty nine yards and three touchdowns. This year,
- 21:28Speaker 5: he's got eight hundred yards and five touchdowns. He also
- 21:30Speaker 5: has twenty four receptions four one hundred and forty nine
- 21:33Speaker 5: yards in zero touchdowns. While his rushing numbers are solid,
- 21:36Speaker 5: his impact on the past as a pass catcher is
- 21:39Speaker 5: way down. He's fifty receptions short of where he was
- 21:42Speaker 5: his rookie season, So that's just what do you attribute
- 21:46Speaker 5: to that? Is it is it George Pickens? Is it
- 21:48Speaker 5: the offense? Is it the quarterbacks? What do you think
- 21:50Speaker 5: is going on with that stat? I think it's because
- 21:53Speaker 5: of Warren.
- 21:54Speaker 1: I think it's because of Jalen Warren because first of all,
- 21:56Speaker 1: this guy a great story coming at a JUCO player.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Then he goes to Utah State, doesn't get a ton
- 22:02Speaker 1: of love. I think he was there for cheers. And
- 22:03Speaker 1: then he goes to Oklahoma State. This dude rushes for
- 22:06Speaker 1: one thousand yards eleven touchdowns, doesn't get drafted, and he
- 22:10Speaker 1: just he makes the team coming out and plays really well.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Kind of average stats his rookie year.
- 22:14Speaker 1: With this last year, he's got one hundred twenty seven carries,
- 22:16Speaker 1: six hundred and seventy six yards, three touchdowns, But he's
- 22:19Speaker 1: the one now has fifty two receptions for three hundred
- 22:21Speaker 1: and thirty yards. So I think that's where the receptions
- 22:23Speaker 1: have kind of gone. But bump, they're fun to watch
- 22:27Speaker 1: and if you if you if you need to see
- 22:29Speaker 1: anything or know anything about Jalen Warren in the Steeler
- 22:32Speaker 1: running game, watch the Cincinnati game, watch him smack Oh
- 22:37Speaker 1: my goodness of Bengals linebacker fifty seven. I'm blanking on
- 22:39Speaker 1: his name, but Mike Goodness, bump. He hit this man
- 22:42Speaker 1: into next week. It's one of those you know those
- 22:44Speaker 1: memes right where you get crossed up, make sure you're
- 22:46Speaker 1: flying into space or something like that.
- 22:48Speaker 4: That's what he did. Totally smoke. So these guys bring
- 22:52Speaker 4: the lunch pail. They can run it.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I saw that. I appreciate that, But none of
- 22:56Speaker 3: that this weekend.
- 22:57Speaker 5: Now, let's talk about the receivers for this still is
- 23:00Speaker 5: George Pickens of the Goon who wore a ski masks
- 23:03Speaker 5: when he got drafted, and Deontay Johnson versus the Seahawks secondary.
- 23:08Speaker 5: George Pickens was all over the headlines leading into last
- 23:12Speaker 5: week's game for the wrong Reeves is not blocking, saying,
- 23:15Speaker 5: look I don't want to get hurt and all that.
- 23:17Speaker 5: Look I'm a receiver. I understand where you're coming from,
- 23:19Speaker 5: but you got a block. A right receivers create the
- 23:22Speaker 5: big plays, man. But last week he just went off.
- 23:25Speaker 5: He fought all the negativity in the press.
- 23:27Speaker 3: He does his thing.
- 23:28Speaker 5: One hundred and ninety five yards on four targets in
- 23:30Speaker 5: an eighty six yard touchdown, in a sixty six yard
- 23:33Speaker 5: touchdown Pickings is a sixth receiver in the NFL to
- 23:36Speaker 5: register multiple sixty plus yard TV receptions in the same
- 23:41Speaker 5: game since two thousand and six.
- 23:43Speaker 3: It does not happen often. That eighty six yard.
- 23:45Speaker 5: TD reception was the longest reception, TD reception and offensive
- 23:49Speaker 5: play from scrimmage in the NFL this season. On the year,
- 23:53Speaker 5: fifty six receptions of one thousand and nine yards and
- 23:55Speaker 5: five touchdowns. Let's talk about Deonte He's got forty three
- 23:59Speaker 5: receptions for five hundred and fifty two yards and four touchdowns.
- 24:03Speaker 5: After giving up tons of exposed to play to the
- 24:05Speaker 5: forty nine ers the Seahawks, they started to lock it down.
- 24:08Speaker 5: And you go from the Niners and then you got
- 24:10Speaker 5: the Eagles. What are you gonna do against a J.
- 24:11Speaker 5: Brown and Devonte Smith? You lock him down?
- 24:14Speaker 1: Man.
- 24:14Speaker 5: Neither of those guys have more than fifty six yards.
- 24:17Speaker 5: Got a credit reg Willam, Trey browwn and Mike Jackson.
- 24:20Speaker 5: Devin Witherspoon wasn't available, so those guys have to step up.
- 24:23Speaker 5: The seatofs are nineteenth in the NFL, allowing two hundred
- 24:26Speaker 5: and twenty nine yards per game.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Devin Witherspoon missed last week.
- 24:30Speaker 5: Yeah, He's missed three games this year, but he is
- 24:32Speaker 5: still fourth in the NFL with sixteen passes defended on
- 24:35Speaker 5: the season. He only has one game this season where
- 24:38Speaker 5: he does not have a pass defenditant they keep going
- 24:40Speaker 5: at him.
- 24:40Speaker 3: He keeps coming big. Hopefully he'll be back this week.
- 24:43Speaker 3: We shall see.
- 24:44Speaker 5: Man. The Hawks is the team. They have seventy one
- 24:46Speaker 5: passes defendant. That's eleventh in the NFL. So I look
- 24:50Speaker 5: at his defense and I go, what's the strength. It
- 24:52Speaker 5: has to be in the secondary, right, think about Reek
- 24:55Speaker 5: and Devin Witherspoon in the safeties. But you know, I
- 25:01Speaker 5: think the defense is working on an identity, and I
- 25:05Speaker 5: think it starts with the back end.
- 25:06Speaker 3: I like what the d linemen are doing.
- 25:08Speaker 5: I think we'll talk about them in a bit, but
- 25:10Speaker 5: look at that secondary and go, no matter who you
- 25:11Speaker 5: plug in there, they're making plays.
- 25:13Speaker 1: So you get spoom back. You feel good about this week.
- 25:16Speaker 1: You had no question about it. I think d line
- 25:18Speaker 1: obviously in the defensive backs were candid hand. But if
- 25:20Speaker 1: you're taking the ball away and you're locking guys up,
- 25:22Speaker 1: that just helps him. If the quarterback has to pump
- 25:24Speaker 1: one more time, got a hold on out a half
- 25:26Speaker 1: second longer that helps the guys like Boy and those
- 25:28Speaker 1: guys get home. So definitely love what the Seahawks are doing.
- 25:31Speaker 1: From a secondary standpoint. As of now, the last matchup
- 25:34Speaker 1: I want to look at it is t J.
- 25:35Speaker 4: Watt Man. First of our body.
- 25:37Speaker 1: TJ is you know, no one would have thought, or
- 25:40Speaker 1: at least I didn't think coming back to you know,
- 25:42Speaker 1: twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen, that he would be a better
- 25:45Speaker 1: player than his brother when it's all said and done,
- 25:47Speaker 1: and he's going to be just from the numbers he's
- 25:50Speaker 1: putting up right, JJ Watt's going to be a first
- 25:53Speaker 1: ballot Hall of Famer and his brother should be right
- 25:55Speaker 1: behind him. Because right now this year, for example, he
- 25:58Speaker 1: leaves the NFL sacks with seventeen, fifth in the NFL,
- 26:01Speaker 1: and TFLs were sixteen. He's closing in on his third
- 26:03Speaker 1: career season in the NFL, leading the NFL sacks third time.
- 26:08Speaker 1: He's the first player since nineteen eighty two, when the
- 26:11Speaker 1: individual sack became an official statistic, to lead the league
- 26:14Speaker 1: three times. Watt is one of five players in NFL
- 26:17Speaker 1: history with ninety four sacks one hundred four tackles for loss,
- 26:20Speaker 1: one hundred and ninety five quarterback hits, twenty seven forts fALS,
- 26:23Speaker 1: ten recoveries, twenty strip sacks leads the NFL sacks twenty seventeen,
- 26:27Speaker 1: twenty twenty one, Defensive Player of the Year, five time
- 26:29Speaker 1: Pro Bowler.
- 26:30Speaker 4: Three time All Pro. I could go on and on
- 26:32Speaker 4: and on and on and on. Do can play some ball.
- 26:35Speaker 1: That's really all you need to know this year on
- 26:37Speaker 1: the season, fifty eight tackles, seventeen sacks, sixteen TFLs, eight
- 26:42Speaker 1: passes defended, one interception. They're saving greats for me. In
- 26:47Speaker 1: the Seahawks offensive line, Charles Cross ab Lucas rust of them.
- 26:50Speaker 1: They're battle tested. They've had to go against Nick Bosa,
- 26:53Speaker 1: Miles Garrett, Aiden Hutchinson, MIKEAEH Parsons to name a few,
- 26:58Speaker 1: and there's the other dude from Cincinnati. They of his
- 27:00Speaker 1: name right now. But they've played all the best guys
- 27:03Speaker 1: in the league upfront. Rushing the passer. Seahawks have allowed
- 27:07Speaker 1: thirty seven sacks on the year, which they've kind of
- 27:09Speaker 1: fell back in the middle of the pack. They're eighteenth now,
- 27:11Speaker 1: so just below the middle there. But I'm confident those
- 27:14Speaker 1: guys you're gonna find ways to slow him down. You know,
- 27:17Speaker 1: as long as he didn't have he might get one
- 27:19Speaker 1: or two month.
- 27:19Speaker 4: That's is what it is. He's that good of a player.
- 27:21Speaker 1: As long as he doesn't take over the game, I
- 27:24Speaker 1: feel good about it. So anyway, he's that dude. You're
- 27:27Speaker 1: gonna see him making plays. But lock him down, contain him,
- 27:31Speaker 1: and the Seahawks will have a really good chance of
- 27:34Speaker 1: getting this victory. But we'll tell you how they get
- 27:36Speaker 1: that done. Path to victory.
- 27:40Speaker 2: After forty five waits for the staff, Michael Dixon puts
- 27:43Speaker 2: it down.
- 27:43Speaker 4: That kick is away. If that kick is gone, to
- 27:47Speaker 4: stay off.
- 27:48Speaker 1: When it's gone.
- 27:49Speaker 5: It's a path to victory. On Hawk Talk, I this
- 27:54Speaker 5: is how they're going to get it. Don Okay, the
- 27:57Speaker 5: playoffs are now. You control your own destiny. You need
- 28:00Speaker 5: to win the next two weeks and you are in
- 28:03Speaker 5: the playoffs, and you got to take care of the football.
- 28:06Speaker 5: You are five and one when not committing a turnover.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Let's do that.
- 28:10Speaker 5: You are five and zero when they win the turnover battle. Simple,
- 28:13Speaker 5: take care of the football, win the turnover battle. You
- 28:15Speaker 5: should be good to go, Gino, continue to be you.
- 28:17Speaker 5: You are good enough to push this team to the
- 28:19Speaker 5: playoffs and possibly win a game. I'm gonna go ahead
- 28:22Speaker 5: and throw it out there, all right. Continue to get
- 28:23Speaker 5: the running backs involved, as we've been saying all week.
- 28:26Speaker 5: The last couple of weeks, they're six and oh when
- 28:29Speaker 5: they rush for one hundred yards. So ken Walker needs
- 28:32Speaker 5: to be in the game plan early and often feed
- 28:35Speaker 5: the young man.
- 28:36Speaker 4: Oh yeah, no question about it.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Last week the se yaw still only got fifty eight
- 28:39Speaker 1: yards rushing and believe on twenty carries.
- 28:41Speaker 4: So definitely want to see more of that.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Want to see the carriers go up there and keep
- 28:44Speaker 1: finding a way to get the ball in the hands
- 28:45Speaker 1: of your young guys. Right, DK Maykalfe making plays. JSN
- 28:49Speaker 1: has really come along strong. I feel like I'm third down.
- 28:52Speaker 1: He's really emerging, you know, as that third threat, as
- 28:54Speaker 1: that guy can really help this offense. I want to
- 28:56Speaker 1: see him spread the love and let's get tired of
- 28:58Speaker 1: back invalld Man. Tyler's always good for a couple of
- 29:00Speaker 1: key clutch catches, So let's keep slinging that thing defensively.
- 29:04Speaker 4: I just talked about it for a long time.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Block DJ watt Man, don't let them take over the game,
- 29:08Speaker 1: and you'll have a chance and then get after Mason Rudolph. Please,
- 29:13Speaker 1: he hasn't been a starter for a reason. He hasn't
- 29:16Speaker 1: been to start us in twenty twenty one, and he's
- 29:19Speaker 1: a guy who's coming off a really good game, but
- 29:21Speaker 1: now he's got to go into a hostile environment.
- 29:23Speaker 4: Get after the quarterback.
- 29:25Speaker 1: You know, the Seahawks had a lot of pressure last
