- 1:08SPEAKER_04: Hi guys, welcome back to Sweet Your Anarchy.
- 1:11SPEAKER_04: I have a lovely brand with me today, and I'm so excited to dive into this topic.
- 1:16SPEAKER_04: I'm a huge believer um in, you know, the use of CBD or any cannabinoid um products, actually, when it comes to health.
- 1:24SPEAKER_04: I I really love the research around it.
- 1:26SPEAKER_04: I love everything we have out there right now, but I definitely think there's a lot of room for improvement.
- 1:31SPEAKER_04: So with that said, I want to introduce you guys to the co-founders of Green Bee Botanicals, which is a wonderful line, and it's actually utilizing all of the components um that really can trigger the cannabinoid pathway.
- 1:45SPEAKER_04: So I'm excited, but welcome to the show, um, Bridget May and Kim Howard.
- 1:49SPEAKER_04: Welcome guys.
- 1:50SPEAKER_04: I'm so excited to be hosting you.
- 1:52SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 1:52SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 1:53SPEAKER_02: We're excited.
- 1:54SPEAKER_04: Thank you.
- 1:55SPEAKER_04: No, I'm excited to really host you because I I want to learn about this.
- 1:59SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 2:00SPEAKER_04: And I don't get to interview a lot of brands that are ready to deviate away from only CBD and their products, you know.
- 2:07SPEAKER_04: And so um, I'm very, very thrilled that you wanted to come on the show.
- 2:11SPEAKER_04: And um everyone listening, we were chatting a little bit before the interview started.
- 2:15SPEAKER_04: And, you know, I was telling Bridget and Kim about how it's it's really there's a lot of health benefits here, you know.
- 2:21SPEAKER_04: So I I want to start off.
- 2:23SPEAKER_04: Um, maybe Bridget, you could get us started um with a little bit of a you know background on how the whole brand really began for you.
- 2:30SPEAKER_04: I know you mentioned you were the one who originally began and then Kim joined you uh in the journey.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so um uh I started in 2015 while I was working full-time as an analytical chemist in the biopharmaceutical industry.
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: Um that's you know, my actually my career is kind of weird.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: I have an art degree and then I went back to school and got a science degree.
- 2:55SPEAKER_02: And then, you know, the jobs were all in the biotech industry.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: So um I, you know, my career kind of just happened because that's where the jobs were, lots of um opportunities there.
- 3:06SPEAKER_02: Um so I learned a lot working there.
- 3:09SPEAKER_02: Um, but my heart was really with plant medicine, not so much pharmaceuticals.
- 3:14SPEAKER_02: Um, and I when I started reading about the endocannabinoid system, um, you know, back when CBD was starting to get, you know, more popular, I started reading about how all the other health benefits, you know, beyond just um, you know, getting you high or relaxing you, um, I really it just kind of sealed the deal and I was like just obsessed because I could and at that time I couldn't believe that there was such a thing as an endocannabinoid system.
- 3:43SPEAKER_02: You know, when I was reading the paper the science, I was like, what?
- 3:46SPEAKER_02: That is crazy, you know, because how come no one ever told us about it?
- 3:51SPEAKER_02: But um that's kind of how I got so inspired.
- 3:54SPEAKER_02: Um and uh Kim and I have known each other for many, many years.
- 3:59SPEAKER_03: Um 41 and counting.
- 4:02SPEAKER_03: 41 and counting.
- 4:04SPEAKER_02: We met each other in in high school, um, and she'd been doing marketing, and I got her to join me um around 2018.
- 4:12SPEAKER_02: So that's kind of the beginning of it.
- 4:16SPEAKER_04: But I love that.
- 4:17SPEAKER_04: No, I love that, and I love how you what you said and everything you said.
- 4:20SPEAKER_04: I I um, you know, for me as well, like I was very um similarly, you know, exposed to just I guess the endocannabinoid pathways um like you were, you know.
- 4:32SPEAKER_04: Uh so I I really understand what you mean because it was kind of something that we just started learning about out of nowhere, you know, it was like all of a sudden here it was in our face, and then people just started talking about it, and then we had a bunch of states legalize marijuana, and then you know, it was like this like roller coaster, but when nobody ever sat down and said, let's really talk about the science, you know what I mean, and and talk about what is going on here and why it's beneficial.
- 4:56SPEAKER_04: So I love everything that you said, Bridget.
- 4:58SPEAKER_03: So awesome, thank you.
- 4:59SPEAKER_03: Well, and actually, the before Bridget and I became partners, she um asked me to do some marketing, you know, projects on the site, and one of them was editing one of her blog pieces.
- 5:13SPEAKER_03: And when I read it, she mentioned the endocannabinoid system, and I too had never heard of that.
- 5:18SPEAKER_03: So she sent me a bunch of the research papers to read and you know, to edit something, you really have to understand it.
- 5:25SPEAKER_03: So I I went down that rabbit hole too, and my mind was just so blown.
- 5:32SPEAKER_03: I thought, oh, this has to be fake news, or I would have learned about this in high school or college, you know, at some point.
- 5:39SPEAKER_03: Um, but it really was only discovered pretty relatively recently in the 1990s, you know.
- 5:45SPEAKER_03: This in the 1960s, the THC uh molecule was isolated in Israel.
- 5:52SPEAKER_03: Um, and then that actually led to the discovery of the endocannabinoid system in the human body.
- 5:59SPEAKER_03: And so it wasn't in our textbooks yet, understandably, but wow, once you once you delve into the research on what the endocannabinoid system does for our bodies, like regulates pretty much every single system in the body, every organ, your brain, your reproductive system, your gut, your mood, your so many things, and of course your skin.
- 6:24SPEAKER_03: And so it makes it if once you understand that about the endocannabinoid system and that cannabis creates phytocannabinoids, you understand why cannabis is so good for your skin.
- 6:38SPEAKER_03: It's like a natural um skin healer.
- 6:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no, absolutely, absolutely.
- 6:46SPEAKER_04: I I think that's that's amazing, Karen.
- 6:47SPEAKER_04: I'm glad that you got us started on that note because honestly, I couldn't agree more.
- 6:52SPEAKER_04: And I for me as somebody who went into medicine, I always loved, you know, like doing the research and diving into these kind of topics.
- 7:00SPEAKER_04: I remember very similarly, you know, when I started reading the literature around it, it kind of like I said, it popped out of nowhere.
- 7:08SPEAKER_04: You know, it's like how you were describing it.
- 7:09SPEAKER_04: Like, you know, it's like once you saw it on PubMed and started digging and then going down that rabbit hole and really learning about you know the molecular uh mechanisms that are you know happening, it starts to blow your mind.
- 7:24SPEAKER_04: Absolutely, you know.
- 7:25SPEAKER_04: I for me, I think it was it was huge.
- 7:27SPEAKER_04: Like I just want to share with you guys, like when I learned that it acts on your uterus, I was like blown.
- 7:34SPEAKER_04: Like when I like people were like, you know, talking about like uterine health, and you know, they were talking about how there are a lot of brands that are up and coming about female health overall, right?
- 7:44SPEAKER_04: And at that time, I remember thinking, like, well, why isn't anybody talking about cannabis?
- 7:48SPEAKER_04: Because it's really helpful with any part of your body that has smooth muscle, has these receptors, any part of your body, you know.
- 7:57SPEAKER_04: So it was like it for me, it was I don't know why it hit me so hard when I heard about it in the uterus, but I when I heard it's like the receptors are there, I was like, Well, that means they're everywhere on in smooth muscle, and smooth muscle for everyone listening is literally everywhere in your body, in every organ, yeah, every you know, vessel, like it's everywhere.
- 8:14SPEAKER_04: So, yeah, that's huge.
- 8:15SPEAKER_03: Well, speaking of women and sexual health and cannabis, I have to mention two brands, Quim, Q-U-I-M, led by two women, and also Hello Again.
- 8:27SPEAKER_03: Um cannabis, they're both cannabis and hemp brands.
- 8:30SPEAKER_03: They do both so that they the good, the really extra good stuff with THC is only available in California as far just like our products.
- 8:39SPEAKER_03: But the but they also make a hemp version that's available nationwide, and both are led by two women just like us, and they're great brands.
- 8:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 8:48SPEAKER_04: Well, I'm gonna have to reach out to them because I would love to have them come on the show.
- 8:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I want to talk about, I want to talk about you guys, you know, uh Green B, you know, let's talk about Green B and how the I mean, so we we know that you know, you guys did your homework and then you learned this, and then you know, looking at CBD, CBG, and THC, how was that combining all three of those molecules together in terms of like formulation?
- 9:11SPEAKER_04: Maybe, you know, Bridget, this is a good question for you about just the formulation aspect.
- 9:15SPEAKER_04: You know, what were some of the things you you know you had to go through, whether that's you know, through the manufacturing or you know, sustainability or whatever you want to talk about?
- 9:24SPEAKER_04: Just kind of walk us through that.
- 9:26SPEAKER_02: Well, I think um, you know, I really I wanted to, a lot of the products on the market were were kind of like a basic lotion um with you know THC or you know, CBD added to it.
- 9:38SPEAKER_02: Um and so and like sometimes with like you know, fragrance that was very uh a costing or you know, just too strong.
- 9:46SPEAKER_02: Uh, I wanted to make a product that was actually, you know, feels good and smells good and like has is is like a really good experience and also is also is effective.
- 9:57SPEAKER_02: Um and so I really needed needed to combine, you know, the the cannabinoids with the other ingredients, and I chose every ingredient for, you know, it's its activity, not just and or and it's you know, its feel or how it smells, or you know, so it's a lot that goes into it.
- 10:14SPEAKER_02: Um but I really like so as far as like cannabinoids, I I love um so THC is really great for pain.
- 10:23SPEAKER_02: Um it's also an anti-inflammatory, um, as is CBD.
- 10:27SPEAKER_02: Um and I think the blend of them together is even more effective.
- 10:31SPEAKER_02: Um actually there is science to show that um like CBD isolate, you know, which is just an isolated molecule by itself, does not work as well as the you know, full spectrum can you know cannabino cannabinoid mixtures, so blends of like CBD with THC and other minor cannabinoids.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: Um there's actually literature that shows that um that much more effective that way.
- 10:57SPEAKER_02: And then in addition to the um the this the endoc the cannabinoids is adding you know terpenes or other you know essential oils that actually help um make them more effective as well, because there's like synergy between those molecules.
- 11:14SPEAKER_04: Interesting.
- 11:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's that's that's what I was gonna say.
- 11:16SPEAKER_04: It's like it's the synergistic effect.
- 11:18SPEAKER_04: That's interesting.
- 11:20SPEAKER_04: That's very that's pretty cool.
- 11:21SPEAKER_04: Now, how did you I'm curious about like when you were formulating, I mean, do you have to extract the whatever like all the good stuff?
- 11:28SPEAKER_04: Like when you're extracting something from marijuana or your cannabis, like do you have to extract as an oil extraction or how does that work?
- 11:36SPEAKER_04: Like in a lab set?
- 11:37SPEAKER_02: So it is it's um it's an oil, basically.
- 11:40SPEAKER_02: The the cannabinoids are oil, oil-based um um components.
- 11:45SPEAKER_02: And you do you can there's lots of different ways of extracting.
- 11:48SPEAKER_02: I've done some extractions myself, just you know, with olive oil, you know, just putting the whole flour in olive oil and let it and letting it sit there, you know, for or with heat for you know some time.
- 12:00SPEAKER_02: Um, and then but I've also done ethanol extractions myself at home.
- 12:04SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, the hard part is like, you know, getting the ethanol out of there when you're done.
- 12:11SPEAKER_02: Um, but right now we're working with uh a company called Chemistry and they are doing our extractions for us and basically you know making blends for us um using our farm partners inputs, Sonoma Hills Farm.
- 12:26SPEAKER_02: Um and so we're we're able to fine-tune that and it's not like I'm not doing it all myself anymore, but I started out doing those extractions myself.
- 12:36SPEAKER_02: Um but yeah, there's lots of different ways of doing it.
- 12:40SPEAKER_02: Um, but we we really want to focus on the whole plant.
- 12:43SPEAKER_02: So like there's different ways of extracting that that where you keep you know as much of the plant as possible.
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: So some of the some of the chlorophyll, some of the flavonoids, some of the, you know, um terpenes and obviously the the the cannabinoids themselves, THC and C B D and so on.
- 13:03SPEAKER_04: Um, that makes sense.
- 13:06SPEAKER_04: That makes sense.
- 13:07SPEAKER_04: And I'm actually curious about dosing, actually.
- 13:09SPEAKER_04: How does that work?
- 13:10SPEAKER_04: Like how much how do you know what like how much to put in each of the products?
- 13:13SPEAKER_02: So that's a really great question because there's actually no little to no research about the concentration, um, especially for topicals, what is required for effect effectif effectiveness.
- 13:28SPEAKER_02: Um and so, but we've done like, you know, our own little experiments on you know, on ourselves, on our friends and and our customers basically.
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: Um, and we find that uh especially if you're using full spectrum, you know, um extracts and you're combining them with other essential oils or terpenes, um, it doesn't take as much as you think, you know, like more isn't always better.
- 13:52SPEAKER_02: Um, and you do like on the market, you'll see some brands are you know putting like a thousand milligrams of CBD in in their, you know, their formula, um, but you really don't know what the quality of that is.
- 14:06SPEAKER_02: It could be isolate, probably is isolate because that's the only like um um cost-effective way you you're gonna be able to get that much um CBD into something.
- 14:17SPEAKER_02: Um but I don't but if you look at our testimonials from and we only put like 200 milligrams in our like one ounce um massage oil, yeah.
- 14:28SPEAKER_02: And that like we're getting amazing testimonials for people.
- 14:31SPEAKER_03: It's like kill it's helping them with pain, it's helping them with psoriasis, it's helping them with eczema, you know, all these things rosacea, rosacea, acne, yeah, like really intractable skin diseases that Bridget didn't even formulate our products for in the beginning.
- 14:48SPEAKER_03: Um we learned, but it maybe it makes sense though, because it's smooth muscle.
- 14:53SPEAKER_04: Like, you know what I mean?
- 14:53SPEAKER_04: I'm not I'm not gonna interrupt you, but like you mentioned rosacea, and rosacea, a lot of people don't understand is a vessel disease.
- 14:59SPEAKER_04: So our vessels, what I mean by that, our arteries and our capillaries are by smooth muscle.
- 15:04SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 15:05SPEAKER_04: So the pathways make sense to me.
- 15:07SPEAKER_04: It's just it's crazy because we you and I, and all you know, the three of us sitting here, we've done our homework.
- 15:12SPEAKER_04: We don't stop right as the people who just you know they spread the bullshit about it, right?
- 15:18SPEAKER_04: Like it's like nobody wants to nobody wants to sit down and have this like candid open conversation.
- 15:24SPEAKER_04: You know, it's like at the end of the day, weed is not just to get high.
- 15:27SPEAKER_04: I mean, all of us smoke weed nice.
- 15:29SPEAKER_04: Well, let's be honest.
- 15:30SPEAKER_04: I mean, you did it, right?
- 15:32SPEAKER_04: If you're a millennial, you smoke hot at some point in your life.
- 15:36SPEAKER_04: I mean, but that's fine.
- 15:37SPEAKER_04: That's not the point.
- 15:38SPEAKER_04: The point is that you know, you it's a very interesting topic for me because I feel like when I look at the category of skincare, right?
- 15:47SPEAKER_04: And I look at these C BD products, I'm like, why don't you keep hyping up C BD?
- 15:51SPEAKER_04: Like it's getting you hot.
- 15:52SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 15:53SPEAKER_04: Like you're like breaking down the you're breaking down an a plant that exists the way it does, and then taking one thing from it and expecting it to work more like wonders, which I'm not saying C BD doesn't.
- 16:06SPEAKER_04: It does.
- 16:06SPEAKER_04: It works for a lot of people.
- 16:08SPEAKER_04: People have great results, but a lot of those products, going back to what you said, Bridget, about the dosing, that's why I asked you that because I was like, that's interesting that you use 200 milligrams because I know there are products out there that are using 500,000 milligrams of CBD and they're not doing much, you know why?
- 16:26SPEAKER_04: Because of that energy that we're talking about, you know, right?
- 16:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, and that's why we use um, we actually have a um a farm partner that's an hour north of us.
- 16:36SPEAKER_03: We're in San Francisco, and our farm partner, Sonoma Hills Farm, is um based in Sonoma County, and we go up there frequently, and um Aaron Kiefer is the cultivator, and he has an amazing um pedigree from working as the culinary gardener for the French laundry and Thomas Keller.
- 16:58SPEAKER_03: And um, so he and he's been growing cannabis since he was a teenager, so he's got you know decades of experience, and he really cares about the soil, about um their farming is all regenerative, it's um organic.
- 17:13SPEAKER_03: They were the very first um cannabis farm in in the country to be named um Oak Cal Certified, which is um the organic certification that is allowed.
- 17:25SPEAKER_03: I mean, you know, in Cal.
- 17:27SPEAKER_03: Because cannabis, yeah, because cannabis is still a Schedule I drug at the federal level, we are not allowed to say the words organic um uh or or get the USDA seal, which is crazy, um, because it is organic and it's um amazing, the quality is amazing.
- 17:46SPEAKER_03: But OCAL certified is the California equivalent of that.
- 17:50SPEAKER_03: And they were the very first farms to do that.
- 17:53SPEAKER_03: And because we use their, we even know what we're we're using their pink Jesus strain, which is very popular and really good.
- 18:03SPEAKER_03: Um, we we combined that, um, Bridget combined that with Moonmaids, um, Moonmaid Farms Um Serpentine.
- 18:11SPEAKER_03: Um, and chemistry again made the extract for us, but because we used, we know where it came from, it came from two organic farms, um, sun-grown, outdoor, beautiful under the California sun cannabis.
- 18:25SPEAKER_03: And then chemistry, which is an amazing extractor, um, they're very sustainably focused.
- 18:31SPEAKER_03: They extracted it in a way that gave us all as much of the plant as you can keep in a in an oil.
- 18:38SPEAKER_03: And so that's that's partly why we don't need to put thousands of milligrams in there.
- 18:43SPEAKER_03: It's because it's way more effective when you start with a really high quality cannabis and you use all of it.
- 18:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:51SPEAKER_04: I I love that.
- 18:53SPEAKER_04: I love that you said that and clarified that, Kim, because honestly, people have this like misconception about um what you're really getting when you're investing in, you know, products that are really utilizing the whole plant.
- 19:06SPEAKER_04: I mean, I I think that, you know, it's really interesting to me that we have a plant here that is so easily grown, right?
- 19:13SPEAKER_04: And it's also can be it's like I remember, you know, being well, what were what was I like 15 or something when hydroponic, you know, was a word that came out and it was describing how you know marijuana is grown, and they were talking about how you literally hydroponic means you're growing it in water, you know, and it's the sustainability aspect of it is so so like easy to understand.
- 19:36SPEAKER_04: It's so common sense, I feel like, that it may it really blows my mind when I see people harvesting and um you know cultivating these like extremely rare species of plants, you know what I mean?
- 19:47SPEAKER_04: And saying that, well, I based an entire skincare system off of these like very rare species of plants.
- 19:53SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, why?
- 19:54SPEAKER_04: You know, you have you you don't have to do that.
- 19:57SPEAKER_04: And that and the reason I'm saying this is because sustainability has many layers, right?
- 20:01SPEAKER_04: It has sustainability can be talked about in many ways.
- 20:04SPEAKER_04: And I think one of the ways that nobody wants to talk about it is what kind of plants are you using and what where are those species available and how fast does it take for them to regenerate?
- 20:13SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 20:14SPEAKER_04: And yeah, and can we play around with how fast they regenerate?
- 20:17SPEAKER_04: Because with with marijuana, yes, absolutely we can.
- 20:20SPEAKER_04: We can definitely control that.
- 20:22SPEAKER_04: And so I mean, you know, it's huge for me as a consumer when I think on that level, you know.
- 20:27SPEAKER_02: Or are you cutting down the rainforest to get this like special, you know, ingredient?
- 20:33SPEAKER_03: You know, yeah, we just visited Sunel My House farm um two Fridays ago, and we um walked through the harvest is pretty much over up there, um, but there was still a little bit left that was blooming um that that Aaron walked us through.
- 20:52SPEAKER_03: And he uh basically Bridget and Aaron were looking at what strains that we'll use for our next batch.
- 21:01SPEAKER_03: And he was describing how what he does to the soil in between harvest.
- 21:07SPEAKER_03: Um, because they get, I think, what is it, Bridget, two or three harvests a year.
- 21:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:13SPEAKER_03: Um, growing outdoors.
- 21:15SPEAKER_03: But in between that, he feeds the soil um, you know, to to nourish it, to give it nutrients so that it's even better um for the n each new harvest.
- 21:27SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 21:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:29SPEAKER_04: So these are that's cool.
- 21:32SPEAKER_04: Go ahead.
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: Oh, I was just gonna say, like, you know, he uses cover crops in between the crops that um, you know, nitrify the soil.
- 21:39SPEAKER_02: So using like clover and vetch and things that um, you know, have the symbiotic relationship with the mycorrhiza and bring nitrogen into the soil so that it'll like will feed.
- 21:49SPEAKER_02: It's basically like, you know, improving the soil in between the your crops that you are growing for for money.
- 21:56SPEAKER_02: But um they also grow There's a bitty sorry go ahead.
- 22:01SPEAKER_02: No, go ahead.
- 22:02SPEAKER_02: I was just gonna say they grow flowers, lettuce, and stuff too.
- 22:05SPEAKER_03: So you know, oh yeah, they're a farm.
- 22:09SPEAKER_03: They they they in fact during the the beginning of the pandemic, they were donating boxes and boxes of lettuces and other vegetables to local restaurants who were suffering really badly.
- 22:22SPEAKER_03: So they're they're very community-minded um foodies, good people.
- 22:26SPEAKER_03: I was just gonna say there's a clip, uh video clip of our um being out in the in the cannabis crop with Aaron on our um Instagram um account uh at Green Bee Botanicals.
- 22:40SPEAKER_03: You can see what a dork I am.
- 22:43SPEAKER_04: Oh, no.
- 22:46SPEAKER_04: I would love, you know, I I really love it.
- 22:48SPEAKER_04: I I love it.
- 22:49SPEAKER_04: I love being a dork, and you know what?
- 22:51SPEAKER_04: Like dork's are the coolest people in the world.
- 22:54SPEAKER_04: I am one myself.
- 22:56SPEAKER_04: Thank you.
- 22:56SPEAKER_04: No, I am I'm a fellow dork.
- 22:58SPEAKER_04: I get it.
- 23:00SPEAKER_04: You know, I mean, we're I mean the dorks from the world.
- 23:03SPEAKER_04: I mean, let's be real.
- 23:04SPEAKER_04: I mean, if it weren't for us being interested and just curious and like, you know, what we would never come up with more options, you guys.
- 23:12SPEAKER_04: Like, I mean, I try to literally day in and day out.
- 23:15SPEAKER_04: I can't tell you how many times I sit down and I'm reviewing a brand because I don't bring everybody on Skinker Anarchy.
- 23:21SPEAKER_04: You know, there's a lot of brands I've reviewed, I've looked at them, and I'm like, no, dude, like, no, no, you know, you're not, you're not coming on my show.
- 23:28SPEAKER_04: You know, I'm not gonna sit for an hour and listen to your special.
- 23:32SPEAKER_04: Well, you are special, but no, I mean, my point is that it's it's it's really about the research, it's about digging deeper, it's about making the connections.
- 23:40SPEAKER_04: And, you know, I love what you said about nitrogen because I remember um a while ago I was talking to someone who was a very avid gardener and really, really into it, you know.
- 23:49SPEAKER_04: Again, like another dork, you know, and um we were just talking about growing plants in general, you know, it doesn't have to be a specific type.
- 23:56SPEAKER_04: And he was explaining to me, he was like, you know, it's so easy.
- 23:58SPEAKER_04: People think gardening is so difficult and farming is so difficult, but really it's about the balance of nitrogen, carbon, and oxygen, just like every other living thing, you know, in the world.
- 24:08SPEAKER_04: And you know, I I we really sat down and and we were having this great discussion, and he showed me, you know, so many different plants and and flowers or whatever that he's grown in his indoor garden.
- 24:19SPEAKER_04: And it's like, you know, and I it looked like he'd grown it outdoors, you know, it looked like you had a full farm, but but he was really talking about this idea of the chemistry, you know, he was like, There's there's a specific formula behind every plant, you know, you've got to figure out how much of nitrogen they need, how much of this, and when you do that, he said it's really easy to just you know, to not take too much from nature and not be depleting, you know, all resources that are available out there.
- 24:45SPEAKER_04: Like if I step outside of my house, I don't want to be growing and using that soil out there, you know what I mean?
- 24:51SPEAKER_04: Like I want to preserve as much as I can.
- 24:53SPEAKER_04: So if there's other options, and if there's ways we can figure that out, then why why not do that rather than go out and source from a random geographical site that is very, you know, it's like one of the five places you can find a specific plant.
- 25:08SPEAKER_04: You know, that I never understood that.
- 25:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's that was my point.
- 25:11SPEAKER_03: But so I think of our front yards, one of our um our big campaigns is um getting people, including ourselves, to plant native plants in our yards, in our on our decks, on our if we only have a windowsill, do it in your windowsill, whatever amount of um space you have for plants.
- 25:34SPEAKER_03: The important thing right now to help literally save the planet is is to bring back biodiversity in each of our communities.
- 25:46SPEAKER_03: And and to do that, it it's not hard.
- 25:48SPEAKER_03: It's just you got to figure out what what the native plants are, but um that really is gonna bring back the bees, the butterflies, the moths, the the birds, um, all the insects that will draw the birds, and then the birds will help pollinate, and so will all the you know the bees and other pollinators, and it's it really grass lawns are what's killing the biodiversity in in at least America.
- 26:16SPEAKER_03: I don't I don't know the lawn situation and all the other countries, but um here it's it they call it um Bridget, what does um Doug Ptolemy call it?
- 26:27SPEAKER_03: A dead zone?
- 26:28SPEAKER_02: A dead zone, yeah, because there's no yeah, because you're it's not supporting any like yeah, it's doesn't support any insect life, it doesn't support any other, you know, animal life.
- 26:40SPEAKER_04: It's like like nuclear wasteland is dead zone.
- 26:42SPEAKER_03: You know, it's like yeah, yeah.
- 26:43SPEAKER_03: Like I mean when we're at um events and shows or demos, we Bridget hands out native California poppy seeds too, just to help like, hey, you have a garden?
- 26:56SPEAKER_03: Here's here's some they're easy to grow, you know.
- 26:59SPEAKER_02: So it's we're we're so that's our latest place too, yeah, marketing campaign.
- 27:05SPEAKER_02: Because we want our brand to not just to be about you know products that people have to buy, you know, we love that too, but um, we want to give back and we want to try to be part of the solution.
- 27:16SPEAKER_02: And um our our big goal when we, you know, when we make it is to start a foundation to to really you know help environmental issues and uh human social issues and so on.
- 27:29SPEAKER_03: Um so that we're not we want to be the Patagonia of cannabis, exactly.
- 27:34SPEAKER_03: Oh, I love that.
- 27:36SPEAKER_03: I love that.
- 27:37SPEAKER_04: And you know, you know why, why not?
- 27:40SPEAKER_04: Because honestly, I I'm a huge supporter.
- 27:42SPEAKER_04: I think that what you guys are doing is very much needed in the skincare space because let's be honest, okay, we're finally starting to figure out there are many, many, many layers that play a role in things like aging, things like diseases that you mentioned, you know, um, things that have to do with skin health overall.
- 28:00SPEAKER_04: And I think the more we learn as a scientific community, the more we're realizing that there is no one pathway, there is no one special molecule that's gonna heal everything.
- 28:10SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 28:11SPEAKER_04: And so when I look at something like when I look at the actual plant itself, any plant, I try to think about how many times we've derived amazing medical innovations and cures from plants.
- 28:26SPEAKER_04: And you know why we were able to do that?
- 28:28SPEAKER_04: Because those those cures and those innovations, they always happened.
- 28:32SPEAKER_04: There was always one thing that was in common, and no one talks about this, but it's true.
- 28:36SPEAKER_04: They always use the full plant.
- 28:38SPEAKER_04: So when you look at penicillin and you look at moss, right?
- 28:42SPEAKER_04: They didn't take a part of a moss, you know what I mean?
- 28:44SPEAKER_04: Like a part of the plant.
- 28:46SPEAKER_04: No, it was grown in the whole moss, you know what I mean?
- 28:50SPEAKER_04: So, like penicillin is a great example because that shows you that when you disrupt nature, you're disrupting the potential that nature holds.
- 28:58SPEAKER_04: And so, you know, great quote.
- 29:01SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 29:02SPEAKER_04: But it's true.
- 29:03SPEAKER_04: It's like it's you're disrupting a potential of something that we're trying to mimic because nature is our greatest, you know, I guess you could say, example of how things should go.
- 29:14SPEAKER_04: It's you know, naturally, I always say the human body, if as doctors and scientists and whoever, entrepreneurs, you know what, if we just studied the human body a little cl more closely and just watched it a little bit, we would have the perfect system right in front of us.
- 29:28SPEAKER_04: It shows you exactly how to run, it shows you exactly what to do.
- 29:32SPEAKER_04: Everything that we have, bio, you know, technology, biomedical engineering, all of that is a freaking copy of what's already happening in the human body.
- 29:42SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 29:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 29:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 29:44SPEAKER_02: Well, and yeah, and like you said, medicine, all the the medicines that we've created are they all have come, most of them come from plants or ideas that we got from plants or fungus for that matter, penicillin.
- 29:57SPEAKER_02: Um but and which reminds me of like not only my my excitement about cannabis, but I'm also super excited about mushrooms, um, which is a whole nother topic.
- 30:07SPEAKER_02: But um I plan to start incorporating mushrooms into my um formulas too in the future.
- 30:15SPEAKER_02: Um But I I really want to I really want to um talk about the the customers that we've helped with some of our products because they are so mind blowing.
- 30:26SPEAKER_02: I wish we could show you some before and afters because we have some amazing ones.
- 30:30SPEAKER_02: One of them is on our website.
- 30:32SPEAKER_02: Um, it's the woman Jen Bean from Santa Barbara who um was suffering from psoriasis for like seven years.
- 30:40SPEAKER_02: Seven years.
- 30:41SPEAKER_02: She's quite young, she's in her early her twenties.
- 30:44SPEAKER_02: Um she's a a child when you see her photo.
- 30:48SPEAKER_03: But she's 20 27.
- 30:50SPEAKER_02: Terrible like inflammation around her eyes, and she just looked miserable.
- 30:55SPEAKER_02: Even her eye, her eye, the whites of her eyes were red because it was her eyes were so irritated.
- 31:00SPEAKER_02: Um she'd be using like pharmaceutical, like you know, steroidal creams and not getting much benefit, but getting lots of side effects.
- 31:11SPEAKER_02: And um, her mom finally gave her our our eye cream, which is in a THC and C B D product that you can get in California.
- 31:21SPEAKER_02: Um and it cleared up her her face.
- 31:24SPEAKER_02: Her skin looks amazing, her eyes look amazing.
- 31:26SPEAKER_02: She's just like bright and like you know, we we were like she just like wrote to us out of the blue.
- 31:32SPEAKER_02: We had no idea we didn't know who she was, and she and through our website, yeah.
- 31:36SPEAKER_02: And she's like, Thank you so much, like this is amazing.
- 31:39SPEAKER_02: And we asked her for before and afters, and when we saw the pictures, we were just like, Oh my god, like can we please use these?
- 31:46SPEAKER_03: And she said, Yes, please, I want you to scream it from the yell it from the um rooftops.
- 31:54SPEAKER_03: I want everyone to know, yeah, especially anyone with with psoriasis that that cannabis really works on it.
- 32:01SPEAKER_03: And you know, we're not allowed to say that publicly and like um written like on our website, or um we're not even really allowed to have customers say it in their in their reviews of our products, yeah, or the FDA will will come after us um for making drug claims, but the truth is it really is helping with those things, and it's amazing, like um sun damage, um cystic acne, uh again, rosacea.
- 32:33SPEAKER_03: Um, oh, there was a there's a guy who used our massage oil.
- 32:38SPEAKER_03: Our massage oil is like a body oil.
- 32:40SPEAKER_03: Um it's it's kind of a many, does many things, but for sure is dual purpose.
- 32:46SPEAKER_03: It it works on the skin and under the skin, depending on what your issue is.
- 32:50SPEAKER_03: So um, like if you have really dry, super dry, itchy skin, it's great for that, or bites, anything itchy, because it's working with the endocannabinoid uh receptors and your pain and itch receptors, and it calms them down.
- 33:07SPEAKER_03: It's really great for inflammation, but also like muscle aches and and um and we're learning so when Bridget formulated that every single ingredient in there is a plant that has amazing anti-inflammatory properties, so it's not just the cannabis, but we consider the cannabis to be like the star.
- 33:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, the superpower.
- 33:31SPEAKER_03: But um a um a guy who's a physical therapist and massage therapist had um double knee surgery.
- 33:39SPEAKER_03: He's also like a super athlete, and he used our massage oil as he recovered.
- 33:46SPEAKER_03: He had these gnarly scars, I mean like Frankenstein-looking scars on his knees.
- 33:52SPEAKER_03: And he used our massage oil multiple times a day, and it to be to be honest, he has really amazing skin.
- 34:00SPEAKER_03: He's in his early 50s, but he has just beautiful, healthy, firm skin.
- 34:05SPEAKER_03: Um, and he's a physical therapist, so he knew how to manipulate and work on his scars as they were healing.
- 34:14SPEAKER_03: So, like that combination with our massage oil.
- 34:17SPEAKER_03: When I saw him, um, we both swim in the ocean here in San Francisco, and I saw him, I could not believe his scars were almost invisible.
- 34:30SPEAKER_03: And I said, Oh my god, Naina, I gotta take a picture.
- 34:34SPEAKER_03: Can I take a picture?
- 34:35SPEAKER_03: He's like, Of course.
- 34:36SPEAKER_03: So that's one one way um that it works.
- 34:41SPEAKER_04: That to me, I love that, Cam.
- 34:43SPEAKER_04: I love that, you know, I'm like over here geeking out over this because I really feel like people okay, so let me let me tell you, I'm like all into like burn wound healing and stuff.
- 34:53SPEAKER_04: I did a lot of research on that, you know, in my my thesis and stuff.
- 34:56SPEAKER_04: And what's so interesting to me is when I look at skincare, um, I look at it from this perspective of like micro trauma, which is honestly the best way I think to look at skin health issues is because there are micro traumas.
- 35:10SPEAKER_04: So when I look at um what is needed in really healing the skin in a way where you're not forming scars anymore, I'm already thinking about you know pathways I've studied in like, for example, burn wound healing.
- 35:22SPEAKER_04: You know, so it's like when I consider that perspective, it makes sense to me why certain skincare works and certain doesn't, you know, because here's the thing like I said earlier, you know, you have receptor sites, right, on your skin.
- 35:35SPEAKER_04: This for everyone listening.
- 35:36SPEAKER_04: I know you guys know this, but I'm just saying, like, for everyone listening, like we all know that we have receptor sites.
- 35:41SPEAKER_04: We all know that you know, some of them have been, you know, figured out, some of them haven't.
- 35:46SPEAKER_04: There's a lot of stuff on your topically on your skin that we don't know what is the ligand to that receptor, what is it that's gonna turn it on?
- 35:54SPEAKER_04: So until we experiment, we're not gonna know.
- 35:57SPEAKER_04: And here's the thing about a plant like you know, cannabis.
- 36:01SPEAKER_04: There's a lot we don't know about that plant, right?
- 36:03SPEAKER_04: So, like, yeah, you know what I mean?
- 36:05SPEAKER_04: It's like you just it's like common sense.
- 36:08SPEAKER_04: Put two and two together, like even if you don't know, but you do know that there is a safety um, you know, the aspect of safety with the use of this plant, which we've seen over decades and centuries of use, right?
- 36:21SPEAKER_04: Why not try to apply that topically?
- 36:23SPEAKER_04: Why not try to figure out something that we know nothing about yet through this plant that is safe?
- 36:29SPEAKER_04: You know, that's where I'm I'm a huge supporter because you're you're just the whole idea of healing the body is turning on and off pathways.
- 36:36SPEAKER_04: And that's something I wish people would start to understand is like if you want to heal yourself, whether that's your skin health, whether that's your gut health or your brain health and your you know, CNS, whatever it is, you have to have the right formula for turning on and off certain receptors.
- 36:54SPEAKER_04: And once we get that down as a consumer base and as a as just a society and population, it's going to really open the door for new discoveries.
- 37:03SPEAKER_04: Like right now, I feel like the skincare industry is stuck.
- 37:05SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna be honest with both of you, you know.
- 37:07SPEAKER_04: I I feel it's stuck because like brands like yours, we can't even ship them to different states, we can't even let enough people try them, you know, and and so it's well we really can we can ship the ones that have that are made with hemp.
- 37:21SPEAKER_03: But speaking of new um revelations, there were there was just this year um clinical trials um of CBD and CBG in a bigger role.
- 37:35SPEAKER_03: I was just gonna say um and um it's the and it showed um it again in clinical trials that it was um more more effective and stronger, had better um antioxidant properties than than vitamin C.
- 37:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, although that's a huge and that's the report last year showed that it was stronger than vitamin C, vitamin A, and vitamin E.
- 38:02SPEAKER_03: So these are some now that the prohibition of research on cannabis has been lifted for the most part, we're gonna start seeing more and more of these um research reports coming out.
- 38:13SPEAKER_03: So it's not we're not just claiming that there's research behind it, proving it.
- 38:19SPEAKER_02: And CBG is the the star of our quench um moisturizer, the that's the one we sent you to try.
- 38:25SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, I love it.
- 38:27SPEAKER_02: So that's like it's really like you know, obviously, people put vitamin C on their face for for their antioxidant benefits, for their anti-aging benefits, and um, you know, CBG is even more stronger than vitamin C.
- 38:39SPEAKER_02: So um it seemed like a no-brainer to me to put it in our our skincare products, you know.
- 38:45SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 38:47SPEAKER_03: My brother just told me that he doesn't he uses our eye cream, face serum, and the CBG um quench moisturizer that we were just talking about.
- 38:58SPEAKER_03: And he just told me that he used to once a year get his um his hyperpigmentation like lasered off because he's always outdoors, he's a real outdoorsman sports guy.
- 39:09SPEAKER_03: Um, and he said this year using Green Bee religiously, he he doesn't need to go get him lasered off.
- 39:16SPEAKER_04: Wow, that's huge.
- 39:18SPEAKER_04: Whoa, right?
- 39:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's huge.
- 39:20SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 39:22SPEAKER_04: No, I I love that.
- 39:23SPEAKER_04: See, here's the thing, you know, I I've really, really love that we're having this conversation because, you know, when I when I looked at like, you know, your product for the first time, I remember thinking to myself, I'm like, finally, you know, I'm gonna get to interview a line where I can actually talk about this this wonderful, wonderful, you know, just I guess you could even say niche of this industry that's been on top, you know, like we've been so focused, like, you know, what we were talking about, we've been so hyper focused on um, you know, CBD as an industry, which is great.
- 39:56SPEAKER_04: Don't get me wrong, that was a great first step.
- 39:58SPEAKER_04: You know, we needed that first step.
- 39:59SPEAKER_04: You know, the beauty industry needed to get its hands, you know, dirty with the idea of let's really use cannabis for its like thousands of beneficial, you know, properties.
- 40:10SPEAKER_04: And if C B D was the, you know what I mean, like the little pacifier for a while, that's fine with me, you know, if that leads to better things.
- 40:17SPEAKER_04: But now I think we're at the point where, like you said, you know, Bridget, like, you know, we have to start looking at what is an antioxidant and how much of it can I actually use before I cause irritation?
- 40:30SPEAKER_04: Things like that.
- 40:31SPEAKER_04: And with vitamin C, that's one of the biggest, uh, one of the biggest hurdles with vitamin C is that a lot of people say I get irritated when I'm using these products that have 25% vitamin C in them.
- 40:42SPEAKER_04: Because it's like you know, but it's true, like that's where that's where the industry now, like you're you're starting to see people starting to complain that wait a minute, you sensitize my skin because you I put so much vitamin C on it, you know?
- 40:57SPEAKER_04: Right, yeah, it like burns.
- 40:59SPEAKER_03: But but speaking of like safety and C B D, like not all CBD is created equal for sure.
- 41:07SPEAKER_03: I know you know that, but for your listeners, um, I love Bridget told me once a few years ago, if you have a crappy product and you put CBD in it, it's still a crappy product.
- 41:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's very true.
- 41:22SPEAKER_03: All of the ingredients count, but but because hemp and cannabis actually they're you know scientifically the same plant, just one has THC and one doesn't.
- 41:32SPEAKER_03: Um, but they are both bioaccumulator plants.
- 41:36SPEAKER_03: Um, and what that means is under the soil when they're growing, they will accumulate anything that's in the soil.
- 41:44SPEAKER_03: So if the soil has a bunch of lead in it or a bunch of really nasty, the bad pesticides in it, it's going to absorb it and it's going to get into it.
- 41:54SPEAKER_03: So CBD uh and all cannabinoid-based um ingredients, it's really extra important that they're grown in really good, clean organic soil.
- 42:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 42:08SPEAKER_03: Um, and it's also equally important that you can see the test results.
- 42:14SPEAKER_03: Um, and I don't think anyone else, well, sorry, there is another company that is doing hemp stuff that um is testing on their own, which we do.
- 42:23SPEAKER_03: Green bee, we have to test our cannabis products in California by law.
- 42:29SPEAKER_03: Um, and we're happy to because we use the products, our family and our friends use the products too, not just our um customers.
- 42:36SPEAKER_03: And we want to make sure that it's clean and safe and good and all that stuff.
- 42:42SPEAKER_03: But we also decided to spend the money um to test our hemp products for the same reason.
- 42:49SPEAKER_03: We we we predict that the government is eventually going to um require to regulate the the hemp market.
- 42:58SPEAKER_03: I mean, it really should because it does again, it's a bioaccumulator, there's a lot of crap on the market.
- 43:04SPEAKER_03: There really is, like at 7-Eleven or the gas station, or you know, even in pretty good supermarkets or or markets, if it's not tested, you're not gonna know if it's clean and safe.
- 43:17SPEAKER_03: And every small batch that we make, there's a certificate of analysis from an independent lab at C of A.
- 43:24SPEAKER_03: And it's um you can you can scan the bar code or the QR code and go to our website and and read the results and see that everything is clean and passed.
- 43:35SPEAKER_04: So I love that customers to know.
- 43:39SPEAKER_04: And well, you're ahead of the game, you know, that you're you guys are really ahead of the game because I mean this is gonna be inevitable, right?
- 43:45SPEAKER_04: Like it's gonna be inevitable that we we go in this direction.
- 43:48SPEAKER_04: It just makes scientific sense.
- 43:50SPEAKER_04: And also, I was also gonna mention that, you know, this reminds me of a lot of the products because you know, I suffered from clinical anxiety, you know, uh, for a long time.
- 44:00SPEAKER_04: Without really letting anyone diagnose me or like you know getting help.
- 44:04SPEAKER_02: Raising my hand.
- 44:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:06SPEAKER_04: And so you get it then, yeah.
- 44:08SPEAKER_04: And I and I did that for a long time.
- 44:09SPEAKER_04: But but during that time, I was always reading and trying like quote natural, you know, remedies or whatever.
- 44:15SPEAKER_04: And you know, I remember there were so many things, you know, like Valerian Roots, uh, St.
- 44:20SPEAKER_04: John's Wart, you know, all these uh things out on the market.
- 44:23SPEAKER_04: But then, you know, where I would get upset is that, you know, you don't know what's in this formula.
- 44:30SPEAKER_04: Like that's why I remember GNC had got a bad rep for a while because they were selling like supplements that people were having reactions to, or you know, some some you know drugstore was doing that, but it wasn't the drugstore's fault, it was that there was no regulation around these supplements, you know, and it's like I think we're in that same similar um geo like geographical area with this, you know.
- 44:53SPEAKER_04: Like hypothetically speaking, is that you really have to like lay down some law, you know, even though there isn't any right now, you have to take the first step and and be trailblazers in that way, you know, where you're taking the leap but and you're saying, no, we did this systematically, you know, we didn't just come up with this out of nowhere.
- 45:13SPEAKER_04: Because eventually, what I want to say is eventually the beauty industry and I think the wellness industry overall is going to say, okay, we're cool with it.
- 45:21SPEAKER_04: We can have the whole plant now, you know what I mean?
- 45:23SPEAKER_04: Like we're gonna eventually we're cool with that.
- 45:26SPEAKER_04: CBD was nice, but we want it to be nicer.
- 45:29SPEAKER_04: So, you know, it's like we're gonna go there, and when we get there, we're gonna have the same conversation all over again.
- 45:35SPEAKER_04: Because now, like you had mentioned, Kim, you know, the whole USDA or and organic certified and clean beauty certified and leaping bunny certified, and you know, all these certifications, they only came up after a huge amount of people started saying, wait a minute, clean is a thing, I'm gonna, you know, create a brand around it.
- 45:54SPEAKER_04: So same thing's gonna happen with this, you know, and so I'm really glad that you do that.
- 45:59SPEAKER_04: It makes me feel better because I've definitely been down that road of trying things and you know, being scared of a bad reaction, you know, because I didn't know if the company had tested the plants, even if it isn't an organic treatment or a natural treatment, right?
- 46:14SPEAKER_04: So that's very cool.
- 46:15SPEAKER_04: I like that.
- 46:16SPEAKER_02: And I want to give a shout out.
- 46:18SPEAKER_02: Oh, I want to give a shout out to um the Clean Label Project because that's they they're doing some really good work.
- 46:24SPEAKER_02: Um, and they've actually done a lot, they do independent testing of all kinds of products for all kinds of contamination.
- 46:30SPEAKER_02: And they did a uh last year they did a you know, they bought a bunch of like C BD off-the-shelf products, um, pet products and baby products, not baby products, but you know, health products and skincare.
- 46:42SPEAKER_02: And skincare.
- 46:44SPEAKER_02: They tested them all and found tons of lead in a lot of them.
- 46:48SPEAKER_02: They found um zero CBD in a lot of them, but they found THC in them.
- 46:54SPEAKER_02: They found, you know, just a lot of like, whoa, this these products are not what they claim to be, you know.
- 47:00SPEAKER_02: And I think plasticizers.
- 47:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, buyer beware.
- 47:04SPEAKER_03: Well, and you won't know your product has plasticizers in it again, or or really um harmful pesticides or lead unless you have an independent lab test it and give you the results and share the results with the public, which we do.
- 47:20SPEAKER_02: And you know, we we also like, you know, we're part of the clean beauty movement, so we know we don't use phthalates and parabens and so on.
- 47:27SPEAKER_02: Um, but we go the step further, you know, by really showing, you know, what's results.
- 47:34SPEAKER_04: Results, yeah.
- 47:35SPEAKER_04: I mean, the results and and and and real testing.
- 47:37SPEAKER_04: I mean, I think that's that's something that I think should become an industry standard, honestly, Bridget, at this point.
- 47:42SPEAKER_04: Like, I don't care if you have a clean brand, an organic brand, a non-clean brand, anyone out there that's an entrepreneur and you're creating something that's going on a person's organ, which is what skin is, you need to have this.
- 47:55SPEAKER_04: Somebody needs to create an agency that says, we're basically the closest you're gonna get to the FDA.
- 48:01SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 48:02SPEAKER_04: This is as close as it's gonna get to the FDA till the FDA itself starts regulating.
- 48:06SPEAKER_04: Because at the end of the day, like I worry about these things.
- 48:10SPEAKER_04: Like people, you know, I get emails all the time.
- 48:12SPEAKER_04: You know, you guys like I I hear all sorts of things like, oh, I need your recommendation because I tried such and such line that I bought at a reputable retailer, but then I had this terrible reaction and I didn't even realize this was happening till, you know, like people have emailed me like that and they're getting these products from like reputable stores.
- 48:29SPEAKER_04: And then I end up, you know, I'll recommend something that works for me or something like that.
- 48:33SPEAKER_04: But you know, what concerns me is that it's uh it's an issue that doesn't just affect brands, it affects a lot of people, consumers, retailers, yeah, manufacturers, you know.
- 48:44SPEAKER_04: So we do have to get to that point.
- 48:45SPEAKER_04: And the fact that you're already doing that, I mean, I just really applaud that.
- 48:48SPEAKER_04: And I think that it's really, really important for other brands listening in or other entrepreneurs listening in that if you are creating products and there's not an already set like company or some sort of um guideline, yeah, then you need to create your own in some ethical way and lay it out.
- 49:06SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 49:07SPEAKER_04: And because we sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands, is my point, you know, in a good way.
- 49:12SPEAKER_04: In a good way.
- 49:13SPEAKER_03: You know how um you know how there's all these arguments and backlash against the quote clean beauty revolution and all that, and all these, you know, there have been articles even in NPR about how clean, quote, clean beauty is a marketing ploy only.
- 49:31SPEAKER_03: Um we've been trying so hard to say, what do you mean?
- 49:35SPEAKER_03: All you have to do is prove it.
- 49:37SPEAKER_03: All you have to do is get a lab to test the products and and share the results with the public like we do.
- 49:43SPEAKER_03: Like it's that simple of an answer, but you know why people don't do it.
- 49:47SPEAKER_03: It does cost money, and a lot of a lot of products would fail.
- 49:52SPEAKER_03: They would fail the test.
- 49:53SPEAKER_03: That's that's why it's not, you know, we're still the weird um what what would you call it?
- 49:59SPEAKER_03: Like the out the outlier.
- 50:00SPEAKER_03: Um Element Apothic is another brand that uses CBD.
- 50:04SPEAKER_03: They're a great brand, by the way.
- 50:06SPEAKER_03: Um and they test as well, but it's super rare at this point.
- 50:12SPEAKER_03: We we really are um at the beginning of a new age for for skincare, but um, we really hope others will follow the lead.
- 50:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no, I hope so too.
- 50:23SPEAKER_04: And I think that this is extremely, you know, it's a cutting edge area.
- 50:26SPEAKER_04: It's a very cutting edge area.
- 50:28SPEAKER_04: And for everyone listening in, you know, I really want you guys to check out the brand.
- 50:31SPEAKER_04: I you really need to see it yourself.
- 50:33SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 50:34SPEAKER_04: You need to see things yourself.
- 50:35SPEAKER_04: And I really encourage all of our listeners, like as we're interviewing, like check out the you know, the brands as we're as we're showing them to you, because this is a way for you to learn what your skin could possibly heal from.
- 50:46SPEAKER_04: You know, it's not like not I don't believe that there's one answer to everyone's problem.
- 50:51SPEAKER_04: I don't that's just goes against biology, in my opinion.
- 50:54SPEAKER_04: But um, yeah, what I do believe in is that there the options that you have should be curated, and that's exactly what we're trying to do here, you know, on Skin Care Anarchy.
- 51:02SPEAKER_04: So if everyone's listening in, you know, you guys go to green be botanicals, all one word.com, you can see the beautiful range of products.
- 51:09SPEAKER_04: I mean, there's uh you know, a serum on there, there's a body oil, the beautiful eye cream that Bridget was telling us about, you know, there's a you know, a wonderful range of products, but it's not like too heavy.
- 51:19SPEAKER_04: So it's not like you're gonna have to figure out, you know, oh my gosh, what do I pick?
- 51:24SPEAKER_04: But I really suggest, you know, if if you're able to, you know, test these brands that I bring on the show, do it.
- 51:31SPEAKER_04: Because at the end of the day, people are buying crap, you know, like like we were talking about guys, like those drugstore days and the the gas station days, they're still there, you know, people are still falling trap to this.
- 51:44SPEAKER_04: And so I really encourage my our listeners and everyone tuning in to just, you know, yeah, go with your gut, trust the brightness, you know.
- 51:53SPEAKER_03: We do there is one confusing thing we would like to clarify, and that is that our four the four original products that that Bridget created, um, the two-faced serums, the eye cream, and the massage body oil, those are currently only available in California.
- 52:11SPEAKER_03: And we we do do we do offer um next day home delivery from our website for for about a thousand zip codes in California now.
- 52:21SPEAKER_03: And we also sell at about 30 cannabis dispensaries.
- 52:26SPEAKER_03: So hopefully there's one near near you if you're listening and you want to try it.
- 52:30SPEAKER_03: But the other two products, the toner, which is um people are obsessed with, and the and the moisturizer, those can be shipped anywhere in the country.
- 52:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 52:40SPEAKER_04: And I love the quench moisturizer a lot.
- 52:43SPEAKER_04: Like I just I want to say that officially.
- 52:45SPEAKER_04: Like I'm really obsessed with it.
- 52:47SPEAKER_04: I think it's a wonderful moisturizer for both night, I find it to be.
- 52:52SPEAKER_04: So I think it's it's good enough for especially with winter coming up.
- 52:56SPEAKER_04: If anybody out there's looking for a new moisturizer, you guys, this is a really great option.
- 53:01SPEAKER_04: And so, you know, I want you guys to just keep exploring.
- 53:04SPEAKER_04: And Bridget and Kim, this was so awesome hosting both of you.
