- 0:09>> Welcome back. I'm Luke. This is Matt. I did the homework this week.
- 0:14>> I didn't really. Uh I Oh, okay. So, let's explain. What's the homework?
- 0:21>> We were going to watch Neighbors vs. Zombies the Halloween special.
- 0:25>> Yes. So, if you're not familiar, Neighbors, the Australian television show that
- 0:31was canceled is coming back though apparently. >> It keeps getting canceled, keeps coming
- 0:35back. It's weird. >> Yeah. It's like a television show from Australia.
- 0:39>> It's a soapy. It's a soapy opera, but >> uh apparently they did a Halloween zombie
- 0:45special that I didn't know about. >> They did it in 2014, so 12 years ago. >> Mhm.
- 0:51>> But it was sort of weird cuz so I watched I when I say I watched it, there was five
- 0:58episodes, I skimmed them all. >> I I skimmed the first one and then was
- 1:02like, "Man, this is going to be rough." And then just didn't watch the rest.
- 1:07>> The problem was is I'd stopped watching Neighbors by 2014.
- 1:12There were all these characters I had no idea who they are. >> Except Toadie.
- 1:17>> Except Toadie. >> Yeah. >> But and but they I It was actually I could see
- 1:23why it would have been quite fun at the time cuz a lot of the jokes were referring back to
- 1:28before. >> It seemed like for what I skimmed people characters who had died were
- 1:34back. >> Yeah, like some character who died like 10 years ago had come back. And they all
- 1:39started off fine and then they started murdering people and yeah. >> Okay. >> Uh spoiler,
- 1:45everyone dies. >> Oh, all right. Everyone >> Everyone. But it was quite funny like
- 1:50>> Is it actually violent or no? >> No, not at all. >> think so. Okay.
- 1:54>> But there was like one thing like they go, "Could it be like a Harold thing?
- 1:58What, you mean where I got lost at sea, washed up in Tasmania of Indonesia and
- 2:02came back 10 years later? No, I don't think that's it. >> Yeah. [laughter]
- 2:06I remember when that happened. >> I I remember when that happened as well
- 2:10cuz that was weird. >> Yeah. Oh, Madge.
- 2:16>> Well, that's what soap operas do. They just >> I know but I know Yeah, I remember
- 2:23cuz Neighbors was just always when I was a kid and I find like
- 2:28it seemed like a serious television show to me as a kid. Yeah, cuz I guess I
- 2:32didn't know any better and then as as I got older I was watching I was going,
- 2:34this is [ __ ] stupid. What? >> Like and then every year it would end on
- 2:39some weird cliffhanger like an explosion or a gunshot or something would happen and
- 2:45then you got to wait till next year to find out and then yeah, when you got
- 2:49older yeah, it just this is stupid. >> Yeah. >> And you you either were a Neighbors
- 2:55household or a Home and Away household. >> Yeah, I feel like
- 3:00possibly we were a Home and Away household. >> Oh, really? I was a Neighbors household.
- 3:05Home and Away no, not for me. >> And not that I watched all of them like
- 3:10that I watched either of them but I should say very much but I feel when they were on
- 3:14I was more aware of Home and Away. >> Yeah. I remember once when they the two cuz
- 3:19what Neighbors was Channel 10 and Home and Away Channel 7 but one time they put
- 3:22them on the same time. >> Oh, god. >> There was a lot of people writing in
- 3:27complaining about that. >> Yeah, I bet. I've told I'm sure I've told this story
- 3:31before but I was at uh I went to a sandwich shop in North Sydney for lunch
- 3:36when I was work at work one day with my co-workers and we walk into this
- 3:40sandwich shop we're standing there waiting for our turn to order. Oh,
- 3:43actually waiting for I think we'd ordered we were waiting for our sandwiches. >> Yeah.
- 3:46>> And uh there was this girl there and I I was like
- 3:51actually looks familiar. Uh and I guess I must have been you know, doing this or whatever.
- 3:58Cuz she looked at me and she said, "Hi, how are you?" And I said, "Oh, I'm good.
- 4:02How are you? How you been?" And she said, "Oh, pretty good, you know, we've been up to
- 4:06like just super super light. Yeah. Nonsense chat. And then they like she
- 4:12grabbed her sandwich and left. And then and I was like, "Okay."
- 4:16And then the two guys I work with were like, "How do you know her?" And I said, "Oh,
- 4:21I don't know. I think maybe I went to school with her or something like that."
- 4:23And they're like, "Huh, she's on Home and Away." >> [laughter]
- 4:27>> Oh, that's where I know her from. I don't know her. >> [laughter]
- 4:33>> I'm just some creepy guy to sandwich shop staring at a girl.
- 4:36>> She just looked familiar. So, I yeah. >> I could see that though. Someone you cuz
- 4:42it's not like you watched Home and Away religiously especially at that time. >> No. >> So,
- 4:47it would have just been that someone familiar. >> I actually the other thing is what I do
- 4:53When we were neighbors actually, I'm pretty sure these guys were from Neighbors. When
- 4:59Jenna and I went to the You remember that movie The Nice Guys
- 5:04with Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe? >> Oh, yes. Yeah.
- 5:07>> We got went to got to go to screen a press screening for that in Sydney and
- 5:11there we were getting drinks at the bar and there was a like a bunch of I think
- 5:14it's kids. They were younger than us there. And so, we would they started
- 5:18chatting to us or whatever and then um then they started saying, "Oh, you can
- 5:22go in now." And then but they got called over to take photos over on the
- 5:27photo thing and it turned out they were from Neighbors. And I wonder if they're
- 5:31some of the people in this [ __ ] zombie thing. >> [laughter] >> It's
- 5:36It could They could be. >> And well, cuz I'm looking at this and
- 5:39I'm like, "Oh, there's a bunch of young people here." >> Yes. >> I wonder if that's them.
- 5:44Like yeah. Very well could be these like all these
- 5:48kids that are in this. So, there you go. No idea. >> No idea. No.
- 5:53But no, I skimmed it. It was I found it a bit funny. But
- 5:58I think it would have hit more if I had been watching the show and it was 12 years ago.
- 6:02>> And you knew yeah, this character's [ __ ] dead. Yeah.
- 6:06>> Yeah, cuz a lot of characters came back and I was like, I don't remember who you are.
- 6:11>> Yeah. >> [snorts] >> Oh, well. >> Yeah.
- 6:19>> Did you go to the movies? >> Um did I go to the movies since we spoke last?
- 6:25>> You were supposed to go see a movie. >> Oh. Have I not spoken about on here yet? I
- 6:31did go and see Star Wars. I did go see The Mandalorian Grogu
- 6:34>> You have not spoken about it. >> I took myself out. I went to gold class. >> Oh.
- 6:39>> I got my Martinis. >> Main event. >> Main event took myself out. Yes, I did put out.
- 6:46>> Okay, for yourself. >> Yes. Um I kind of liked it. >> Interesting.
- 6:53>> All right. It was just three episodes mashed together. >> Okay.
- 6:58>> And they were three distinct episodes. >> Really?
- 7:03Like did it come up and say last five minutes ago on The Mandalorian or
- 7:08the Grogu and the Mandalorian >> It didn't quite do that, but there's all
- 7:10the opening scene where he sort of which a lot of the the trailer is from the opening
- 7:15>> I've heard that but beating up a bunch of Imperials.
- 7:18>> Yeah, that's the opening of the movie. >> Mhm.
- 7:22>> And then yeah, he goes off to Nevarro to try and do some negotiating. I'm going to try
- 7:28and keep it spoiler free as possible. >> Mhm. >> But goes off to Nevarro to do some
- 7:33negotiating for the New Republic. Does all this and then there's that's the
- 7:37first episode. The second episode it's a Grogu episode. >> Okay.
- 7:42>> Where Grogu is just looking after the Mandalorian and >> Okay.
- 7:47>> And then there's the third episode where the New Republic come in and save the day.
- 7:53Like very separate episodes. It's really weird. Like they could have
- 7:58just been the new season of Mandalorian. >> Okay. But you enjoyed it anyway.
- 8:04>> I enjoyed it. >> Is it >> Um I did see Dave Filoni and I nearly got
- 8:09upset with him when I saw he made himself an X-wing pilot. >> I heard I heard you.
- 8:14>> about it and gone I do exactly the same thing. >> Yeah, you would, yeah, absolutely you
- 8:19would. >> Like Anyone who says they wouldn't is a complete liar. >> Yeah.
- 8:25I might make myself something else just to be different cuz I don't want to do
- 8:28the same thing as you, but I would definitely put myself in Star Wars if I could. >> Yeah.
- 8:32>> Yeah. >> Like it wasn't like he had a big role or anything. He was >> No.
- 8:36I would just make sure I was there and that you could see me. >> Yep.
- 8:40>> And then that would be it. >> Yeah. So yeah, don't blame me for it. >> Mhm.
- 8:45>> Sigourney Weaver >> Oh yeah, she's in this. Is she? >> She's in it and I
- 8:50don't quite know why. >> Can I do something? >> Yeah.
- 8:56Like I'm not saying her character was bad or anything, but I just
- 9:01probably could have saved money on the budget. >> So I've seen this in the trailer and I
- 9:06thought it looked [ __ ] stupid. >> Mhm. >> There's a Hutt with axes.
- 9:12Is it stupid? >> Um that's Rotta the Hutt.
- 9:18>> You didn't answer my question. >> [laughter] >> No, it make it make sense in
- 9:25in the movie. >> That's not really what I'm asking.
- 9:28>> That Hutt is a main character in the movie. >> That's not what I'm asking.
- 9:33>> [laughter] >> I'll ask you the question again. >> Does it look [ __ ] stupid? >> No.
- 9:38>> Really? >> It does. He's a Hutt with muscles. >> Exactly. I mean, yeah, okay.
- 9:45>> [snorts] >> But, he's It makes sense because >> All right. All right.
- 9:51>> Cuz I think he's running a Hutt's army. Come I think he's from one of the cartoons.
- 9:56>> Okay. >> So, he's already sort of canon in the universe. >> Oh.
- 10:00>> Jabba the Hutt's son. >> [ __ ] Filoni universe.
- 10:03>> Yeah. And his whole thesis he doesn't want to be like his father. >> Okay.
- 10:08>> And so, he's trying to make a name for himself that's not >> Jabba.
- 10:14>> Jabba. And so, that's why I think he's worked out. >> [laughter]
- 10:19>> Okay. All right. >> But, I you should see it.
- 10:24>> I'll watch it at some point. Um I maybe I'll go.
- 10:30Maybe I The The thing is though, I haven't seen a lot of the stuff that leads up to this.
- 10:37At this point. >> Um you don't really need to. >> All right.
- 10:41>> Like it is just another season in The Mandalorian. >> Okay. All right. >> Like
- 10:47>> So, Gina Carano's there? >> No, no, she's she's not back.
- 10:51>> Oh. Well, what happened to her? >> Um >> I wonder if she beat the [ __ ] out of her.
- 10:56>> [laughter] >> Well, that's how that fight was always going to happen. And then the two
- 11:01laughing thinking about it. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, yeah. I know, right? They both
- 11:05made a fortune. Yeah. >> Yeah. And that The outcome of that fight was
- 11:10well known beforehand. >> Yeah. I was It reminded me of I know I
- 11:15probably talked about this before is there's one of the Fast and the Furious movies where
- 11:20um Ronda Rousey's in it and she fights Michelle Rodriguez.
- 11:23And I was like, well, that's ridiculous. >> [laughter] >> Yeah.
- 11:26>> As you would [ __ ] destroy Michelle Rodriguez, but in the movie obviously not. >> It's
- 11:30>> Yeah. But, if they would actually go on the ring yet, of course, instantly as as
- 11:36in with Ginny Craig was like 4 seconds or something or some absurdly low figure. Anyway,
- 11:43looking at the articles in here, it's sort of weird because there's two
- 11:45articles sort of back-to-back in here. One's going that hey
- 11:50the Mandalorian did not do well the first weekend, correct? And then one
- 11:55directly under is Sorry, mate, it's budget back. Yeah, so I think there's a
- 11:59I thought this was interesting. There's a couple of things here. Yes, The
- 12:02Mandalorian and Grogu needs a box office miracle after an underwhelming opening,
- 12:06right? It's not doing well as far as Star Wars movies go. However,
- 12:11it didn't cost that much to make. >> No. >> So, that's why the two articles seem at
- 12:16odds, but they're not because they can do this cheaply now with the with the
- 12:20way they shoot these, so >> already got the screen set up. They've
- 12:23already got That's already there. >> Compared to the stuff that compared I
- 12:27believe to the way they were doing the um you know, like The Rise of Skywalker and
- 12:33what's his face and all these kind of movies. Uh this
- 12:36didn't just didn't cost that as much. And so yes, it did perform badly, but it
- 12:40has already made its budget back, which I think um I don't know if that includes
- 12:45marketing budget cuz marketing budget is pretty big, but
- 12:48also I don't think they marketed this as as heavily as they did the others
- 12:52either. They didn't do any of the tie-ins with like um Oh, that's not
- 12:55true. I was at the movies yesterday. We'll talk about that if you want. Um >> I
- 12:59only played So, I saw the store was like a few I saw trailers at the movies
- 13:03>> How much at the movies I just realized yesterday I saw. So, they did do some stuff. I
- 13:08just feel like it wasn't everywhere like Star Wars usually is, you know? Um
- 13:13>> I do find it funny though cuz there was a report a little while ago that um like
- 13:17cuz there's another Star Wars movie coming out this huge July Star Fighter. >> Yes,
- 13:21which I'm actually excited about. >> Yeah, with Ryan Gosling and they're all
- 13:24saying like that's the one that's going to keep something got tradition going
- 13:27that there's going to be a there's a lightsaber and all the Star Wars movies
- 13:30have lightsabers. This one didn't. >> No. No, okay. No darksaber either?
- 13:35>> No darksaber, no nothing. >> I don't know what happened to the
- 13:37darksaber cuz I didn't watch after season 2, but >> Starbuck's got it.
- 13:42>> Oh, actually? That's right. >> She took it back home to Battlestar Galactica.
- 13:47>> Nice. All right. Well, it's a shame cuz she turns out to
- 13:51have been a hallucination or an angel or something. Spoilers. >> Yes. >> Mhm.
- 13:57>> But no, there's um no other Mandalorians in this. It's just Mandalorian.
- 14:01>> The Mandalorian. Yep. >> He just flying around the galaxy.
- 14:05>> To Din Djarin or whatever his [ __ ] name is. Din Djarin.
- 14:08>> They explain how he got his ship back very quickly.
- 14:11>> Oh, is he back in the Razor Crest? >> Yes. >> What happened to that other one?
- 14:15Oh, you know what? I should probably watch the show.
- 14:17>> Just watch it. I don't want to give away too many spoilers cuz people may want to
- 14:20watch it and it has only just come out and it would break my rule.
- 14:25I'll give you more spoilers by next week. >> You said I think you said, I've seen
- 14:28some people say it's more like season 1 of The Mandalorian than >> Yes.
- 14:33>> See, I like I did like season 1. So, maybe yeah, all right. I'll check it out.
- 14:36>> Yeah, and you see a bit more of Grogu becoming himself and doing stuff a
- 14:41little bit more on his own. >> I want to see Grogu leave like he was supposed to.
- 14:46He He like they chickened out of that [ __ ] plot. >> He's He's here to stay. >> Yeah.
- 14:52>> Until Luke Skywalker has a bad dream. >> What does he mean?
- 14:56No, okay. That'll Yeah, yeah, that's true. Mhm. I guess I can take heart in the fact
- 15:01that he will die. >> Yes. >> Thanks to Rian Johnson. >> [laughter] >> Um
- 15:07This The third article down is more balanced. Mandalorian and Grogu won't
- 15:10lose money, but it may not rescue Star Wars either. So, um it's not been
- 15:16you know, made the budget back. Yeah, but it will be financially fine, but
- 15:20it's certainly not blowing up >> I honestly think they would have been better to
- 15:26have made another season of The Mandalorian. >> Yeah, well, to the the last article on
- 15:31on that topic though says it has broken a major Disney record. It is the highest-rated
- 15:38by by fans, by viewers, uh on like Rotten Tomatoes uh of any of
- 15:44the Disney movies. In like including Force Awakens, I believe. Uh this was
- 15:48this was the other day anyway. Um it is the highest-rated Star Wars movie
- 15:53of the modern era by the Rotten Tomatoes audience score. So,
- 15:58>> Critics thought it beat The Force Awakens. >> on it. Yeah, it's critics were pretty
- 16:01lukewarm on it, um but fans apparently like it a lot.
- 16:05>> The the look, the one thing that's absolutely destroying me with Star Wars
- 16:08movies these days is the hyperspace means nothing. There's no time to travel anymore.
- 16:15>> Yeah, JJ did that in uh >> Yeah. Cuz remember like
- 16:20they had to go and it was going to be a hard thing for Luke and Obi-Wan to get a
- 16:24spaceship to take him to Alderaan. No, it's 15-minute trip. They're like, what
- 16:28are they talking about? Yeah, that's right. >> I mean, the prequels did that a bit too
- 16:33though. They jumped around a lot. Oh, they did,
- 16:39Like there's episode three where Is it three where Obi-Wan's in the Jedi
- 16:44starfighter? He's jumping around. Might even be episode two. One of them he
- 16:47jumps around and it just feels very like >> That was but there still feels like
- 16:51there's time. >> Yeah, you're right. >> It's not
- 16:54>> I guess I haven't seen the way it's done in this, but
- 16:56>> Yeah, it's definitely Well, I'm just saying in a modern era like especially
- 17:00like The Last Jedi where they could go off and have another adventure while
- 17:05they're being chased. >> While there's a yeah, chase going on.
- 17:07And then the beginning of Rise of Skywalker, they're literally jumping during a
- 17:12battle to escape and stuff like >> Yeah. >> Yeah. [snorts] >> Yeah. >> Mhm.
- 17:17>> Didn't like that. >> Uh the last article about this
- 17:22uh I said I haven't seen it, but this article indicates maybe the New Republic
- 17:26committed some war crimes in this movie. I don't know if there's spoilers that need to be
- 17:32>> They they they're really isn't. That's why I won't talk about that one this
- 17:34week. I'll talk about this one next week and let you know what I think. But I
- 17:38guarantee you Luke's done more war crimes than anyone else.
- 17:42>> With the Blood of the Destined? >> No. >> When he blew up Jabba's palace? >> That's um
- 17:46>> Oh, sail barge. >> Sail barge. The how many slaves and
- 17:51workers would have been in there that he just murdered? They weren't all criminals.
- 17:57>> That's a good point. All right. >> So I think that's the biggest war crime
- 18:02that's ever happened in Star Wars that I've ever seen. I know there's a whole
- 18:05thing about the Death Star and stuff like that, but no, that one is he
- 18:10would have known for >> You think you'd say no no no? The only
- 18:14good Imperial is a dead Imperial, but when it comes to crime lords >> The person that was
- 18:21>> say actually, you know what? The Death Star was a military target. >> Yes.
- 18:25>> I might be with you on this. The sail barge was not quite like that. It's a
- 18:29different kind of different kind of thing. >> everyone working there was working because
- 18:34>> Yeah. >> Like this guy was a slave. He had other
- 18:37slaves. Uh it wouldn't you wouldn't have a normal criminal serving at the bar. >> True.
- 18:43Yeah, the Death Star was literally just a military installation. >> All right.
- 18:47>> You might you might have to convince me on that one. >> I know I'm right.
- 18:53>> Dark. Uh a little bit of follow-up on Project
- 18:58Hail Mary, which is a [ __ ] fantastic movie that I've >> You've seen it again?
- 19:02>> I've seen it again. I mean it was the same movie and I still loved it, but
- 19:05this is actually uh it's trailers uh
- 19:12it's one um Golden Trailer Awards, the Golden Trailer Awards with uh what, five
- 19:18prizes. Uh >> know there were actual trailer awards.
- 19:22>> either, actually. I just thought this is really interesting. Um But but best of
- 19:25show they've won uh for the Project Hail Mary trailer. >> Okay. >> that's pretty neat.
- 19:31I Yeah, I just learned about this this week. >> Yeah, I'm going down here. Best Drama,
- 19:37Project Hail Mary. Best Fantasy Adventure, Project Hail Mary. I don't
- 19:41think you can get both of them. I think that's a bit wrong.
- 19:48Oh, Best Video Game Trailer. >> Wait, uh Project Hail Mary got Best Video Game Trailer?
- 19:54>> No, no, no. I'm just reading some of the >> What was the Best Video Game Trailer?
- 19:58>> Best Video Game Trailer was Silent Hill. >> Oh, yeah. Okay. Um yeah, fair enough.
- 20:05I see that uh >> Best Thriller was Weapons. I still need to see that. That looks creepy.
- 20:10>> Weapons is great. >> Yeah, I need to see it. >> Yeah. Yeah, it's good.
- 20:14>> with those kids running down the street? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I might watch that tonight.
- 20:18>> Do it. Yeah, yeah, it's good. Best Music is Project Hail Mary Chance
- 20:24Trailer. Best Score is uh Dune Part Three, which I'm pretty
- 20:28sure is Hans. So, congratulations, buddy.
- 20:33>> I wonder if he's going to be eligible for the Oscars this year.
- 20:40>> Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. >> Cuz you know, you remember he wasn't
- 20:44allowed for Part Two because it didn't meet the percentage of English dialogue. >> guess.
- 20:48Based on what I know about him, probably not because you can't He's going to use
- 20:52the same themes. Like, he's not >> Well, no, no, no. Isn't Three meant to be like
- 20:56>> enough Oscars. >> But Three's meant to be in the future a
- 20:59bit more, so the movie's tone's going to be a bit different, isn't it?
- 21:01>> Yeah, but it's got all It's got a lot of the same characters in it. Like, so
- 21:06>> Okay. would >> he's going to do the same thing which is continue the themes
- 21:11through like Yeah, I don't know. We'll see.
- 21:18>> He's already been paid. He's happy. >> Yeah, and he's got enough Academy
- 21:21Awards. He's fine. I I don't I'm not I'm not I don't think he would bother be
- 21:27bothered that much about that kind of thing at this at this point, right? >> Yeah.
- 21:32It's not the like I think the most important one is your first one.
- 21:36>> Yes, right. And he's had that since the '90s. So, he's he's fine. [laughter]
- 21:40He's he's fine.
- 21:45>> Oh, what about some YouTube news? >> Sure.
- 21:50YouTube is now going to I think this is pretty interesting
- 21:55for false positives anyway. YouTube is going to
- 22:00start labeling AI videos. But it's going to use AI to find them.
- 22:06>> Yeah. >> [laughter] >> Which I mean sounds funny, but yeah, that's fine. Whatever.
- 22:11>> But labeling's not really going to do anything cuz no one reads those labels.
- 22:16>> No, and I wonder like how good is it going to be at this cuz this always like
- 22:22gets things wrong. Um and they haven't really explained I
- 22:27don't know how they would explain you know, in a way that would fit the
- 22:31general public how it's going to do it, but >> Well, I have watching some of this some
- 22:36a bit of this coming up and some users channels are getting pinged and canceled
- 22:40for being AI and there's all like we're not AI. We're making cartoons and
- 22:44>> Yeah, I mean I wonder about this. Like they've said to the blog they apparently
- 22:48the blog post about this mentions stuff like metadata and
- 22:52watermarks in the video. I'm like, well, yeah, that's obvious. Like what about
- 22:57when it's not obvious? >> Yes. >> Like >> And it is the more we go forward with it
- 23:03like the harder it's getting. >> Yes, cuz people will remove the
- 23:05watermarks in the metadata. That's not that hard to do. >> Yeah. >> So,
- 23:10um yeah, they get a little tag at the bottom that says AI if it's an AI video.
- 23:14And then also I just wanted to like what qualifies as AI? Um
- 23:19Like the whole Does the whole thing have to be like AI video and audio or cuz there's a
- 23:24lot of them There's a lot of content now I've noticed that is
- 23:30video or like say like uh Use an example. There's a like say you
- 23:35you record yourself playing a game and it's game game play footage, but you
- 23:39don't like your voice. So, you use an AI >> Yeah.
- 23:43>> 11 Labs or whatever to generate the the audio for the video. Does that count as AI?
- 23:48I just I wonder how they're going to do it. >> See, well I think I don't think they
- 23:53actually care for tell the truth, honestly. >> You think it's marketing?
- 23:57>> I think it's them saying, "Look look, here's what we're doing." But at the end
- 24:00of the day, they don't care if there's AI slop out there that's getting views cuz
- 24:05>> Yeah, I suppose. >> They're getting They're making money off
- 24:07it with the ads they put on it. >> Mhm. >> So, they don't really care. So, this I
- 24:11think it's more lip service more than anything cuz they're not removing the AI.
- 24:15>> No, they're just telling you that it is AI. >> Yeah. So, it's not really helping the
- 24:19issue at all. >> Yeah. We got I asked in the I think it was in
- 24:25the afterparty I asked about uh AI thumbnails. >> Mhm. >> And I got >> Yep.
- 24:30>> I'll double check, but I think largely everyone was like said they liked them. >> Okay.
- 24:34>> So, I was like, "Okay, that's interesting." But I wonder if um that would
- 24:40set them off. >> I don't From what I've seen, no. >> Yeah, okay.
- 24:46>> Because it's just the thumbnail. If you look at it and then it looks at the rest
- 24:50of it, it's just our two talking heads. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Mhm.
- 24:55>> Your beautiful face and me. Aw. >> So humble. >> Take the compliment.
- 25:02>> Aw. Um it say okay it says apparently apply to videos that show significant photo
- 25:08realistic AI use. Okay, so that implies not audio. >> No.
- 25:11>> And not this unless they somehow think they might think you're AI because you
- 25:16do kind of phase in and out of existence sometimes.
- 25:19>> I'll fix I need to fix my lighting in here and I will get to that one day.
- 25:23>> I think it's charming. >> No, I'll leave it at that. >> Yeah. I'll fix it please.
- 25:27>> Maybe I am AI and Matt's just talking to himself.
- 25:29>> Did you see the thumbnail last week? >> Yes. >> [laughter]
- 25:33>> Not not not the after party one the actual show. >> No, the life is normal? >> Yeah.
- 25:38Man did a great job with that. >> That was great. I loved that [laughter] one.
- 25:41>> That's what I mean. I like I know people that like the AI thumbnails but like
- 25:44come on there's no way I could have done that without >> No. >> Yeah.
- 25:50>> No, you wouldn't have been able to and not and it wasn't but still
- 25:54>> I mean not that this matters but it wasn't just like I like I said make a
- 25:58thing and it did it. Like there was some back and forth you know I put in some
- 26:01effort to try and make it look cool and nice and
- 26:04>> You never ever go with the first prompt. >> No. No, we made some changes together.
- 26:08>> But although I have noticed that AI is getting better with words.
- 26:12>> Oh [ __ ] yeah. Yeah yeah yeah. >> Yeah really when AI first came out it
- 26:15just could not spell. >> Yeah if there were words in the picture
- 26:18it was a dead giveaway cuz it was just nonsense. >> Yeah. >> Mhm. Now it's like yeah.
- 26:24Yeah. All right cool. Yeah I doubt we'll get flagged but we
- 26:29shall see and I think yeah I think it's interesting but yeah I do think like you said it's
- 26:35I don't know there's going to be >> Yeah cuz the people who are watching the
- 26:39AI stuff cuz sometimes it's very obvious there's
- 26:44a AI shorts channel that I was watching Jack films talk about.
- 26:49And it's just it's fruit that's being sexy and getting
- 26:54into dramas and all this stuff and it's just reels and reels and reels of it. No
- 26:58one cares. It's AI. Everyone knows it's AI. >> It's fruit.
- 27:03>> They can just churn this content out. >> Right.
- 27:07>> YouTube's going to come along and go, "Oh yeah, this is AI." And the people
- 27:11watching it aren't going to care, but YouTube's done their part. >> it's AI. I don't care.
- 27:15>> Yep. >> It's like all those uh I see this a lot on threads.
- 27:21People will post, I think it's on threads cuz it got posted to X and
- 27:24someone moved it over, but people will have AI generate like there was one that
- 27:27was um Spider-Man fighting Carnage. And it was like uh you know, it costs
- 27:33Hollywood millions and millions of dollars to make stuff like this and AI
- 27:36did this in like 10 seconds and it's like a thing of Spider-Man fighting Carnage.
- 27:43>> Yeah. >> But it's not good. Like [laughter] I don't know. Like maybe
- 27:48this might be my you know, I've often complained about I think my brain rejects >> Yes.
- 27:54>> computer generated fights in in movies. I I just I can't I don't like them. And so
- 27:59I look at this and I go, "That's garbage." And a lot of other people were
- 28:02saying like, "This is really bad." But then also a lot of other people were
- 28:05like, "Oh, wow. Yeah. This is amazing." And I'm like, man, it's just
- 28:10[clears throat] really a range of >> But then again, are those people real?
- 28:15>> Oh god, don't get me started on that. Yeah. Good point. I don't know.
- 28:21>> Cuz yeah, there's a lot of you know, just fake accounts on there and they all
- 28:24just you pay AI to >> Yeah. >> to go and comment on stuff and the
- 28:29comments are normally not related to what's on being seen or done. It's just
- 28:36Wow, so good. Love insert channel name here. >> Do you think that guy was making fun of
- 28:41you the other week was AI? >> Yep. No, I don't I don't want that. I don't
- 28:46want to piss off AI. >> [laughter] >> They can make as I said people can make
- 28:51fun of me all they like. Doesn't bother me. >> Yeah, same.
- 28:55I think it's funny. There's only very rare occasions that I've um
- 28:59not that I've flagged a comment and removed it from YouTube but it's usually
- 29:03cuz they say something racist and I'm like [laughter] I don't want that on a
- 29:05[ __ ] channel. >> No, no we do not want racist. That doesn't help.
- 29:10>> It was in relation to I think it's it was it was when the
- 29:15Acolyte. We got a lot of a lot of feedback, let's say, when I
- 29:20said that I liked the Acolyte and I think there was one comment in
- 29:23particular that I don't even I'm not even really what it was but I remember
- 29:26going Jesus Christ, no, I'm not leaving that on there.
- 29:30>> I feel that I saw an article recently and it was about saying like in the new
- 29:34you know how Prime speaking the new Harry Potter TV show? >> Yes.
- 29:39>> And they're going to have like all deaf or something. They're not even the
- 29:43character that plays Ginny the first episode in the first season's going to
- 29:47be changed for the second season. And a few of the comments like oh yeah, that's
- 29:51happened like it's I think it's more of the parents or they just want to continue on.
- 29:55>> Okay. >> And in the first season you see Ginny for what 5 seconds at the
- 30:00train station it doesn't matter. It's not like a huge
- 30:02People oh yeah it's okay and then the rest was just they replaced her own
- 30:05character they need to do this they need to get rid of Snape like what are they
- 30:08doing they're going to regret doing this it's all like oh my god. Like
- 30:14just hundreds of comments just complaining about Snape being black.
- 30:19>> It's so weird to me. Who [ __ ] cares? Like I don't know how do you care that
- 30:24much about a thing that's like I I don't get it but then again I'm not
- 30:30I guess I I take heart in it because I guess I'm not racist because I don't
- 30:35understand why you care so much about that. Like
- 30:39>> makes zero sense in my head why this is a thing like even article
- 30:44someone talked about in 007 the new game people complaining that there's a black
- 30:49character in it and I it didn't even cross my mind
- 30:52>> I don't know who the black character is and I did see that. I didn't look into it.
- 30:57Is it a prominent character? Is it a >> Greenway Greenway is the guy who's teaching me to
- 31:02become an agent. >> So it's not even a character that's in the [ __ ] books or movies.
- 31:07>> No. Cuz this is set modern day. >> I don't understand. I don't understand.
- 31:13I could I could cuz I was thinking they already did this. They made money
- 31:16Pennyworth black in in like the >> What are people complaining about? It's not real.
- 31:23>> Who [ __ ] cares, man? I don't care. I wonder if
- 31:29A, it's not I think that a lot of that is not real. It's got to be AI or I feel like it's
- 31:36just like a gimmick that people get to go into too hard. It's got to be. Or I
- 31:40guess I just don't understand that people really are that [ __ ] stupid. >> I hope it is
- 31:45something like that because there were just hundreds and hundreds of comments
- 31:48just complaining about it and I just >> [laughter]
- 31:52>> Stupid. How embarrassing. You you if you You're embarrassing humans. You're
- 31:58embarrassing. It's so stupid. Just shut up.
- 32:04>> But let's not talk about it. Just that's just depressing. >> I do want to ask about
- 32:09about First Light though. You've been playing >> I've been playing it. Um I need to
- 32:16be careful how I play it cuz um it's >> Is this one of those ones where if you
- 32:20make a noise and now you have to murder everybody?
- 32:23>> Uh pretty much, yeah. But it's not it's a lot harder to do that cuz it is very
- 32:30Hitman-esque. >> Okay, so you're not supposed to It doesn't allow for you really to just
- 32:34murder everyone. >> Yeah. Like cuz you know in Hitman, like
- 32:38Yeah, it's actually hard if you set If you have you got to It's not just
- 32:42with like Watch Dogs or Yeah, GTA where you just down you just murder everyone
- 32:47and you move >> Murdering everybody is a is a recognized mechanic in some games. >> Yes.
- 32:50>> In this game and yeah, in Hitman, it's not. >> not. So, I'm not I struggled at a bit,
- 32:54but it's not as bad as Hitman. Okay.
- 33:00But I'm only a little bit into it. >> Yeah. All right.
- 33:03>> So, I'm going on my first mission now. >> Mhm. Where you going?
- 33:08>> I wasn't paying attention. >> That doesn't surprise me.
- 33:11>> I'll work out the details when I'm there. >> Yeah. In case you don't know, watchers
- 33:15and listeners, Luke is not a big story guy in games. He's a gameplay guy. He's
- 33:21an achievements guy. >> I'm an achievements guy.
- 33:24>> And gameplay is more important than the story. And the story is just a thing that
- 33:27happens while he's doing that. >> I used to really like story in games. >> Yeah.
- 33:32>> And then achievements came along. >> And ruined it. >> Ruined it.
- 33:36>> I'm thinking of getting First Light. I was interested in getting
- 33:39it on the Switch, too, but it's got delayed on Switch, too. So, um
- 33:44I don't know. I guess I'll I'll probably get it on the Xbox. I
- 33:48mean, it's probably the best place to get it anyway, but >> Yeah.
- 33:52I went to play They just released um The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice
- 33:58Edition on Game Pass. >> Oh. >> And I went to play it on my little Ally Rogue.
- 34:03>> Yeah. >> The screen is far too small for that. >> Oh. >> It just
- 34:09was unplayable for me. >> Okay. Speaking of that, uh well, I'll just
- 34:15I'll just one last thing on James Bond then I'll then I'll tell this. The uh
- 34:19The reviews have said that this is the best James Bond outing in since Skyfall. Uh which
- 34:26has enticed me to want to play it even more. So. >> Okay.
- 34:30>> Cuz I like Skyfall. I liked No Time to Die as well the second time.
- 34:33>> But it's sort of weird that it's comparing a game to a book movie but
- 34:38>> Yeah, I know. I know. But it was I think yeah. People
- 34:43would I think people understand that comparison. >> Yeah. But no, I'm I'm enjoying it cuz
- 34:48yeah, you're basically playing a It's not set in the past. It's set in
- 34:51modern day and it's about how you get recruited into MI6. >> Right. Okay.
- 34:57Um On the topic of small screens, I have still been trying to play Stardew
- 35:02Valley. I know Did I mention this last week? Right? >> Yes.
- 35:05>> I just really wanted something I just wanted something
- 35:08on my Switch Lite. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. I got my Switch Lite. I
- 35:11wanted something I can potter around in. The UI is too [ __ ] small. >> Yes.
- 35:17>> It was driving me nuts cuz I'm I know we already We got old man gizzum out of the
- 35:21way before the show started. Right? >> So we're back again.
- 35:23>> This is brief, right? We've talked about our health problems before we started
- 35:27recording this week. So you don't have to But I will say my eyes aren't what
- 35:30they used to be. >> Mhm. >> Uh but then I realized in the menu, you can increase the UI
- 35:37slider and it felt horrible and gross and disgusting to do it because I've
- 35:41never had to do that before. >> [laughter] >> But I did [snorts] increase the UI scale
- 35:47and it's perfectly playable and >> Well, I I think it's okay to do it on a
- 35:52on a small screen. I think you have to on a small screen. If you're doing it on
- 35:56a large screen, you got more problems. >> Yes. And the other thing is I know I said I
- 36:02couldn't get into Stardew Valley. I just decided stop cuz one of the things I do is you
- 36:08know, you can find these like beginners guides to and it's got all this stuff
- 36:11you got to do and and you know, you've got to got a certain amount of things
- 36:14you can do every day and it can become very stressful if you're me because you
- 36:18keep thinking I've got to progress that kind of I'm like no, no.
- 36:21[ __ ] it. I'm just going to do things >> Do what you want.
- 36:25>> and I'm not going to worry about it and I have been enjoying it more doing that,
- 36:29which I think is how you're supposed to do it. It's just that people on the
- 36:31internet are [ __ ] weird. >> So yeah, you you you So what have you
- 36:36decided on? Are you a farmer, a minor, a monster hunter?
- 36:39>> at the moment I've just a bit of bit of everything. I'm finding my place. I've
- 36:45done gone down to the mines and I've I've built myself uh a furnace to smelt
- 36:50some metal. And then I was like, let's try some fishing. I did some fishing.
- 36:54I've gotten better at the fishing mini-game, which is [ __ ] infuriating
- 36:57at first, but actually does get a lot easier. So [laughter]
- 37:01uh and then uh and then just I'm just pottering around.
- 37:05>> Okay. And that's what that game's really for. It's just uh
- 37:08>> It's I'm using it instead of scrolling on social media. >> Yeah.
- 37:14>> I'm just going to potter around in that, so. And it's been fine.
- 37:16>> That's good. It's good to get away from social media. >> Yes.
- 37:21Uh and I mentioned I went and saw a movie. I went and saw Repo! The Genetic Opera.
- 37:27>> Oh, yes, you did. How was that? >> It's great. I mean [laughter] it's a
- 37:30movie from 2008, which it it ended and the credits came up and it said 2008 and
- 37:36I was like, that's not possible. 2008
- 37:40cannot be as long ago as it feels like this movie came out. Does that Do you
- 37:45understand what I'm saying? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. That's almost 20 years ago.
- 37:49>> And this is what was actually Anthony Stewart head, isn't it? >> Yes. >> Yeah.
- 37:53>> But when you say when I see 2008, I'm like, oh, that's recent. It's not. It's
- 37:58not. And that hurts my brain. >> We're getting close to it being the 30s.
- 38:03We're doing that old man orgasm thing again. >> Yes. [laughter]
- 38:05>> The point is it's a great movie. It Well, it's not a great movie, but you
- 38:09should see it. But that's why it's great is because it's it's an attempt to do
- 38:13something co- like different. It's like uh it's a musical
- 38:19um about a future where there's massive organ failure and this company called
- 38:24GeneCo rises to prominence because they can give you new organs except they
- 38:31charge a fortune so you have to do a payment plan and if you don't make your
- 38:35payments they send the repo men to get the organs. >> [laughter]
- 38:39>> And it's about a story that happens in that world. >> Yeah.
- 38:43>> Yeah. And it's great. And it's in theaters in the US at the moment for a
- 38:48bit of a revival. So if you can get a chance to go see it you should. Or just
- 38:51watch it at home. >> I think the movies we've got this
- 38:54weekend here, I think they're doing the Spider-Man trilogy. >> Ah, interesting.
- 39:01>> So like the What's his name? >> Toby Maguire.
- 39:06>> The Yeah, Toby Maguire. >> Yeah. >> They've got that going on this weekend here.
- 39:10>> those ones. >> What shall we Oh, I get to go see You see what I'm
- 39:17going to go see next week. >> What are you going to see?
- 39:20>> I'm going to go see Scary Movie. >> [laughter] >> Yeah.
- 39:24>> I like those movies. I don't know why. >> I know why. They're funny.
- 39:28>> And Masters of the Universe. >> Oh, yeah. We've got some Masters of the Universe news.
- 39:33>> We do. We should talk about that cuz I >> Yeah. >> found this a bit strange.
- 39:38>> Yeah, apparently Jared Leto has not been showing up to
- 39:44to Masters of the Universe press or the premiere or any of that stuff. He's just
- 39:47not been there and first people were like, well, that's cuz no one likes him.
- 39:51But apparently that's not true. It's cuz he doesn't like the movie. >> Which
- 39:56>> Allegedly, allegedly. >> I find this weird because [clears throat]
- 40:01he's also famous for saying he doesn't watch his own movies. >> Right. So
- 40:06would he be at the premieres? >> Yeah. >> I don't know. He's uh
- 40:12It's odd because right, he's been in some [ __ ] >> Yes. >> And he's gotten flak
- 40:17for being [ __ ] in some movies. Oh, well, I mean, Tron Legacy he was fine in. Um
- 40:24Morbius was a a laughing stock, but kind of a >> [laughter]
- 40:27>> I I still laugh at that. It was a laughing stock twice. >> Yes.
- 40:32Um and then you know, he's in Appropriate Behavior and his weird [ __ ] with uh
- 40:37>> Suicide Squad. >> and all that. But But for this,
- 40:40apparently people are saying he's pretty good in this. >> Mhm. >> So, it's weird that he's
- 40:47If this is true, it's weird that that this is the one that he's
- 40:51not happy about. It's the one that he's actually good in.
- 40:53>> We also discussed last week that he's not really in it.
- 40:58>> Yeah, that's true. He's just doing a >> his voice.
- 41:00>> Skeletor's voice. I assume that's how he talks in this.
- 41:02>> Yeah, cuz it's It's not going to be It's not him in the suit there. It's
- 41:07going to be computer-generated face. So, it's just his voice. >> Yeah.
- 41:12Yeah, weird. >> But yeah, uh so, is this known that he's not
- 41:18thrilled with it or is it just conjecture? >> So, let's see.
- 41:25A report from Puck News >> Mhm. >> as that he wasn't thrilled with the
- 41:30film, but not for the reasons you might expect. Indicate Leto was reportedly paid
- 41:365 million for the role and at Amazon's request is complying with remaining
- 41:39silent about his involvement. >> What? >> This isn't Hang on. Let me click through
- 41:46this article. This isn't making sense. >> No. >> Oh, see, I can't read this article
- 41:52because you've got to [ __ ] pay for it. All right, I have to go back to this
- 41:55summary that doesn't tell me anything. He's report He was reportedly paid 5
- 41:58million for the role and at Amazon's request is complying with remaining
- 42:02silent about his involvement with the film. So, what does that have to do with him
- 42:07not being thrilled? >> Is it >> I'm confused. >> the same thing that maybe happened with
- 42:13Suicide Squad where he went on and filmed all this extra stuff?
- 42:18>> And so he did what he wanted to do and they were like, "Thanks, mate." >> [laughter]
- 42:20>> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Maybe. >> [gasps] >> Cuz I could see him doing that again, just
- 42:27>> Not for the reasons you might expect. And then it just doesn't explain what that means.
- 42:33>> Yeah. So, is it Unless >> Unless Unless my reading comprehension is suffering today.
- 42:39>> No, I I've I've read that sentence about three times. It doesn't make sense.
- 42:43>> There's a bit There's a part of the story missing. It says he wasn't killed
- 42:46but not for the reason you might expect and then it moves on. Okay, so we don't
- 42:49know why. We don't know why. >> I'll maybe look try and let you know why next week.
- 42:55>> Yeah, when you see it, right? >> Yeah. >> I might I
- 42:58It's hard for me to get to the movies. It's really hard. So, like I don't know.
- 43:01I I'd like to see it. I'm interested. I've heard it's very good.
- 43:05>> Yeah, [snorts] as I said, like I know last week a few weeks ago where I said
- 43:09like I started to grow on me. >> Yeah. Yeah, I know. I just thought it
- 43:13looked silly but then everyone's like, "You know, it's fun." I'm like, "Oh,
- 43:16that could be good then." >> Yeah. >> I guess if it's not It looked to me I
- 43:20was worried it's going to be silly but it's not doesn't mean to be silly. But
- 43:24apparently it's just like leans right into that. So, okay, maybe that works. >> Yeah.
- 43:30I'll let you know. Oh, I'm I'm going to go We'll do a serious segue
- 43:36cuz I'm just having things pop into my head. >> Go on. >> Um
- 43:41Spider-Noir I haven't started watching it yet but I just saw it.
- 43:45I just saw it advertised just before we started recording and I'm Oh, I want to
- 43:49watch this but I don't know how to watch it. >> It's on Prime.
- 43:53>> I I don't know how to watch it. How's it work in Australia?
- 43:56>> Oh. Oh, oh, oh. Yeah, good point. Um I feel like >> Cuz I think both could be good.
- 44:03>> I feel like black and white I might do first. >> But even the color's not color. color
- 44:07>> know. I know. Yeah, you're right. You're right. Yeah, that's annoying.
- 44:13Not annoying. It's cool that they did that, but it doesn't mean I'm probably
- 44:15going to watch it. Maybe not watch it twice, but skim it. >> Just skim just to see.
- 44:19>> [laughter] >> Yeah. I think I might do color. >> All right. You want to see Nick in
- 44:26color? >> Or maybe I might go episode to episode and just switch it up.
- 44:30>> Yeah, I'm very interested. I'll try and >> I've got so many my queue is just
- 44:34growing, man. >> I've got fun stuff to watch. What about
- 44:36season 2 yet I haven't watched. We started watching This actually some news about
- 44:40Jury Duty season 3 here. We started watching the second season. It's very funny.
- 44:45>> season of that. >> It's good so far. I've only watched like
- 44:48I think maybe the first episode. And I'm like, "Okay, this is good."
- 44:52It's been renewed for season 3, but um they're it it's hard because everybody knows
- 44:58about it now. >> Yeah, you got to give it time between.
- 45:01>> Yeah, so they've got to apparently they've got to the new challenge is
- 45:04like, "The [ __ ] do you do now?" Like cuz the the the first season they did Jury Duty.
- 45:10>> Yep. >> Second season is like company retreat. >> Um >> Like what do you do after that?
- 45:16>> Yeah. >> And like it's so absurd. I feel like it's going to be hard to
- 45:22find people who aren't like, "Hang on a minute." >> Yeah. >> It's just so silly.
- 45:27>> No, and I think that's why they while it's been renewed, I think you got to
- 45:30give it a couple of years in between just for >> Let people forget about it. >> Yeah.
- 45:35>> Yeah. I saw two We talked about the rehearsal. >> Mhm. >> Right?
- 45:40>> Cuz I need to watch the season 2 of Rehearsed the Rehearsal.
- 45:43>> So, I won't spoil anything for season 2, but you know it's about planes, right? About
- 45:47flight safety? >> No. >> Oh, okay. Well, this is not a spoiler
- 45:51cuz it's it's the premise of the season. Nathan Fielder thinks he's discovered that
- 45:57and this appears to be the case based on the show. Mhm. A lot of crashes,
- 46:02airplane crashes, could have been prevented if the co-pilot had spoken up
- 46:07because the pilot did something silly or or made a mistake and the co-pilot was
- 46:13too like afraid or like socially >> Yeah, no.
- 46:18That can That kind of seems to make sense. >> goes through transcripts of flight logs
- 46:24from just before a crash and often he he he says like right here at this moment
- 46:30if the co-pilot had just said no, my controls, you're out of your you're out
- 46:33of your [ __ ] mind or something. >> Yeah. >> It could have been prevented. And so the
- 46:37whole season is about how does he as a [ __ ] comedian with a show on HBO how
- 46:44does he try to fix this? And it's really funny and also quite
- 46:50clever. But it's got >> That's crazy cuz that would be a thing
- 46:53like you got your senior pilot there who's not going to listen to his junior. >> Yeah.
- 46:57>> And >> goes on the show like they do all of it they follow them around and they get
- 47:00them to reenact how they do things like they they don't talk to each other
- 47:03before and they don't know each other. You get assigned a co-pilot and a
- 47:06co-pilot. They don't talk before the flight. They just sit in a room
- 47:10silently. And so yeah, it's it's really interesting. Um
- 47:16but as part of it they did a fake um you know like like The Voice or
- 47:23America's Got Talent or one of those like there's a show it's called Wings of
- 47:26Voice and they did it as a as an as a experiment for the pilots
- 47:32so they would have these co-pilots come in and then the the contestants would come
- 47:36in and sing and then you have to tell them no, sorry. You're not getting through the next
- 47:41round. And it was to see how they react in a stressful situation like that which
- 47:45I think is really cool idea except >> [snorts] >> except So I I won't I won't spoil that
- 47:51too much. But what I want to talk about is just that they didn't tell anybody it
- 47:55was fake obviously because it wouldn't work. And so now there's this whole
- 47:59group of people that apparently they got the contact details for these
- 48:02contestants from people who auditioned for America's Got Talent.
- 48:06And then they sent them out and said there's a new one. Do you want to come
- 48:09on and audition for the new one? And a lot of people spent money to travel
- 48:14to come and be on this thing and then found out oh, it was a joke.
- 48:19Like like not a joke but yeah, it wasn't it is a joke. >> It is because there's no
- 48:25>> It's not real. >> progress their careers. You're not going to be able to
- 48:29>> It's not what they thought it was. And so yeah, I read an article about there's a
- 48:33a particular a lady who's a singer and she was on America's Got Talent and I
- 48:38forget her name but she's she's somewhat got a musical career and she was furious
- 48:42cuz she spent she spent like like 10 grand going to this thing.
- 48:47>> thinking that hey, this is an actual >> Because her agent said this is an opportunity
- 48:51and then she said it wasn't an opportunity. It wasn't a it was just a
- 48:55social experiment. But I yeah, I'm like okay. So anyway, I just thought that was
- 49:00interesting. >> Mhm. I could I could see that being sort of annoying. >> Yeah, totally.
- 49:06>> Like it like it's yeah, you think this is an actual chance but I could also see
- 49:10why they did it. >> too. It's a bit embarrassing to be like
- 49:14tell cuz they told all their friends and family they're going to this thing and
- 49:17they progressed to the next round and they got all excited. And then cuz they
- 49:20they they played out the whole thing. They played out the whole thing.
- 49:24>> You're getting a call back like it's actually this might be happening this
- 49:27time. I've progressed. It's >> And there was a winner. But
- 49:32if it doesn't it doesn't go anywhere. >> There's no contract. There's no nothing.
- 49:35>> I think they won a cash prize but like it's still it's like
- 49:38>> But that's not what they were there for. They weren't there to >> Yeah.
- 49:42>> They were there to become a star. >> I think yeah, it's very interesting. The
- 49:47it made me think oh wow, yeah. Like I love Nathan for you and
- 49:52and the rehearsal and I think Nathan Fielder's really really funny. But I was
- 49:55like, "Oh yeah, that is that's tough." >> Yeah. I could see why they did it though cuz
- 50:00you can't really just hire actors for for that and
- 50:04>> No, and I again I'm like the whole the premise of the season is just so
- 50:08interesting that I was like, "Oh I get it." But I do feel like that's yeah, I
- 50:13would I'd feel uncomfortable doing that to people. >> I just but he can just do it with a
- 50:17straight face and not break. >> He's [ __ ] >> I don't know how.
- 50:22>> You got to There's stuff in this season that you got to watch it. It's it's pretty
- 50:26>> Cuz you think like with Cunk she can do the whole thing with straight face. No,
- 50:29she breaks all the time. >> Yeah, did you watch Last One Laughing season 2? >> Yes.
- 50:33>> Yeah. Yeah, she was good in it but she does laugh. >> Yeah, but Nathan Fielder he's
- 50:39he plays the entire thing like he doesn't break. >> into it. When something gets funny he
- 50:45he's like "Let's go." And he makes it makes it worse and worse. It's like, "How are you
- 50:50>> He's doing He's doing it with people cuz if he breaks the whole thing's over. >> Yeah.
- 50:55Yeah, exactly because they'll know it's a joke. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> So I
- 51:01You would not want to see him on Last One Laughing. >> No. No. That actually that guy um
- 51:07I know uh spoilers. I don't want to say who won just in case people want to watch but uh
- 51:14I It's leave it. I've I've ruined it now. I can't say anything. I can't say anything.
- 51:18Watch Last One Laughing season 2. It's very good. >> Watch it. It's great. The UK version.
- 51:21>> Yeah, yeah, the UK version. I've seen it. >> like 20 different versions. >> Yeah.
- 51:26Um just quickly speaking of we're talking about Spider-Noir. Um Nicholas Cage this week
- 51:31uh So this is just quick thing said um Nicholas Cage said Christopher Nolan
- 51:38won't call him back because he uh he turned down
- 51:44a role in a good movie No, no, hang on. What It was a specific one.
- 51:49Come on. What you [ __ ] movie was he supposed to be in? Insomnia. >> Insomnia.
- 51:53>> Very early on, Christopher Nolan's first film? I think Insomnia.
- 51:59Nicolas Cage turned it down. And now, when he calls Christopher Nolan says,
- 52:02"Hey, you got anything for me?" He doesn't call him back. >> [laughter] >> So.
- 52:08>> Which is weird cuz that would have been at Nicolas Cage's time of doing anything.
- 52:14>> Mhm. Yeah. Maybe that's why Christopher Nolan's like, "You know what? [ __ ] you,
- 52:17mate." >> Yeah. You You missed your chance to get on this.
- 52:20>> He said yes to this [ __ ] and not my movie. All right. Yeah, cuz I feel like
- 52:27if you're an actor working currently, you want to be in a Christopher Nolan movie.
- 52:31>> You do now. But back then, it was different.
- 52:35>> Yeah. Yeah, I think after Memento, you'd be like, yeah, I'll say yes to this guy.
- 52:40>> Yeah. But yeah. >> I just thought that was funny.
- 52:44>> But yeah Yeah, it would have been I wonder what he would have signed up for
- 52:47instead of this. Maybe that's the the actual [clears throat] reason, just that like
- 52:51>> Christopher Nolan knows what he did instead. Yeah, exactly. [laughter] The
- 52:58the [ __ ] Wicker Man remake or something. >> [laughter] >> Yeah, terrible.
- 53:03>> Oh, there's a Madden movie coming out. >> Madden? >> Yeah.
- 53:07>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I knew that. Yeah. Yeah, with Nick the Cage.
- 53:11>> Yeah, I just saw it's on the trailer on here. I didn't know that. >> Mhm.
- 53:15>> I'm not going to watch that. >> Um have you played Subnautica 2? >> I haven't.
- 53:22>> It's out. >> want to though, but cuz I played it through the first one.
- 53:27All right, I cheated my way through the first one to get the achievements.
- 53:30>> Okay, I've played the first one. I didn't play through it.
- 53:33Uh but I did play it and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Um so, I'm interested
- 53:38uh I guess in this. I don't know. I I say I'll leave it to time. So, we'll see
- 53:41if I get around to it. But, uh it does look good. The first one was good. >> Yeah.
- 53:46>> There's a There's a bit of controversy about the game because the publisher
- 53:51um delayed the launch and um
- 53:57basically there's this whole thing where it was seemed like they were trying to
- 54:00get out of play paying them a $250 million bonus. Um
- 54:04>> Oh, yes. I remember hearing something about that.
- 54:06>> Yeah, cuz they like delayed the the game. But, and then they said, "Oh,
- 54:10well, you didn't deliver." or whatever. >> Yeah. >> And then um and then famously um
- 54:16uh the asked Chat GPT how to get out of paying the
- 54:22the bonus. And then it came up in court that they had asked Chat GPT
- 54:26specifically, "How do we get out of paying the bonus?" And it was like,
- 54:29"Okay, [ __ ] you." >> Yeah. >> So, um
- 54:33they the studio A judge has said they get the bonus.
- 54:38But, the court has not decided how much they get. >> Okay.
- 54:42>> So, it may not be the full $250 million. >> See, here's the crazy thing. Like
- 54:47as a $250 million bonus, I don't think it's while I love the game, I can't see it
- 54:53making that much and >> Yeah, I don't know. >> warrants a bonus of that. >> Yeah.
- 55:00>> Just seems like a lot. >> I guess I don't know how much games
- 55:04make. At $30 Oh, here we go. At $30 a copy subtracting Valve's 30% platform
- 55:09fee, that's around 85 million in potential revenue for the month.
- 55:14Yeah, so that's like Does that seem like a pretty stupid >> Yeah.
- 55:20>> bonus to offer them? Like >> Yeah, I think that I think they've
- 55:24worked that out that hold on we've agreed to this bonus, but it's
- 55:30>> Like 85 million in the first month. 85 million in the first month.
- 55:33>> Like that's not even what it would be. >> "Oh, yeah, I mean months you'll make it
- 55:36back." but the sales drop off after the first month. >> Yeah. >> Like
- 55:40They're not going to make They're not going to make Well, >> They'll they'll make it
- 55:44>> I assume they're not going to make 85 million any other month. It's going to go down.
- 55:48>> they will get the 250 million, but that's the bonus on top of what they've
- 55:52already been paid. >> Exactly. Exactly. Mhm.
- 55:59>> So, yeah, that was a Yeah, I think they just someone made a terrible decision because
- 56:04>> I can see why they asked Chat GPT how to get out of it, but still
- 56:07too late. You made the [ __ ] deal. Pay them. >> Yeah. Cuz yeah, I'm not saying
- 56:12Something like this is not going to be a great game.
- 56:14It is. It's just not a mainstream game that >> No. No, right.
- 56:21>> Trigger quarter of a billion-dollar payout. >> The evidence is there. It sold 85
- 56:27million dollars worth in the first month. That's I feel like
- 56:32250 million-dollar bonus doesn't make any sense financially, basically. >> No. >> They
- 56:37they should have foreseen that. And apparently they did foresee it after
- 56:41they agreed to it. >> After they agreed to it and then were
- 56:43Chat GPT, I've screwed up. How do I fix this? >> Yeah.
- 56:49>> Cuz yeah, it's not like they're going to lose money on this deal even if they
- 56:52have to pay it out. They're just Their profit margin is going to be lower. >> They might.
- 56:57>> Uh >> [sighs] >> It depends how much money they'll paid up front.
- 57:01Doesn't say on here. Oh, they're paid up
- 57:06an upfront price of 50 million dollars. >> Right, with the 250 million-dollar
- 57:10bonus. Okay, so what about 300 million total? >> Yeah, 300 No, no, they'll get their
- 57:14money, but >> might be right. >> They're not going to There's no profit there, really.
- 57:19>> Yeah, it's not a cash cow. By any means. >> it's not what they thought it was going
- 57:23to be. >> Mhm. >> I don't want to play it. I think it is on
- 57:29Xbox now. >> Yeah, I'm pretty it's out. >> in
- 57:35>> Mhm. >> I will find out. Subnautica 2
- 57:42No, it's early access came on the 14th of May,
- 57:47but there's no achievements yet. >> Ah, so you're not interested. >> Dead.
- 57:51>> Yeah, sorry. That should say it's in early access. But but like that these
- 57:54days that's that's the launch like game hits. >> Yeah.
- 57:59>> But also that they could be also trying to claim hey you you went early access.
- 58:03You didn't actually >> Maybe. Yeah, maybe that's another tactic, too. Yeah.
- 58:08>> And if they hadn't got to chat GPT, that might have been an actual
- 58:12>> Might have been a good >> argument. >> Mhm. Um did you want to have a rant? I saw
- 58:18something about Yeah, I would love for you to have a rant. I'm excited about it.
- 58:21>> I So on my phone, you know how you get news articles that pop up? >> Yes.
- 58:26>> There's this one that pops up all time from screenrant.com.
- 58:29>> Mhm. I used to like Screen Rant. >> They are all a week time ago.
- 58:34>> They bait titles and >> bad. >> They're getting me so many times. Like
- 58:40there was cuz there'll be stuff I'm sort of interested in and it's sort of like oh,
- 58:45the next season of Buffy. We've got some news on it after Buffy been canceled. Oh
- 58:50great, what is it? They're releasing a comic book. No, you said the next
- 58:54season. You were talking You knew what you were talking about.
- 58:57>> Yeah. Yeah, yeah. It's intentional. >> time. >> It's intentional.
- 59:02>> So I have to block them cuz >> [laughter] >> They've done this to themselves.
- 59:07>> They're just hurting my heart all the time cuz I get excited.
- 59:12>> Yeah, it's intentional. >> this time it's not going to be. It's
- 59:14going to be something about the screen. No, there's a comic book coming out and
- 59:19no, that's not what you said in the title. >> Yeah, Screen Rant had got so bad at this
- 59:25that I just ignore it now. Like >> I I have to now. It's just a
- 59:29>> They post so much [ __ ] and then they'll Not only that, it's like
- 59:33I understand why, right? They're trying to It's a business, right? And it's
- 59:36tough It's tough out there. People are blocking ads, you know, getting money or
- 59:39whatever, but just like there'll be an article or there'll be a
- 59:43headline and then you read the article The article is just like two lines and
- 59:46it's nothing. Like Like this whole like [ __ ] like, you know, the James Gunn comments on
- 59:51[ __ ] 9/11 or whatever. It's like, [laughter] "Oh." And you click on it and
- 59:55it's like you said, "Oh yeah, I was alive for that." Like >> Yep. >> [laughter]
- 59:59>> Yeah. Like they do [ __ ] like that. Not exactly like that.
- 1:00:02>> But it's just constant. There's just so much stuff, but
- 1:00:06>> Just non- nothing burgers all day with really, really stupid headlines.
- 1:00:12>> But they're The headlines are just good enough to There might actually be some news I'm
- 1:00:17interested in. >> I mean, honestly, it just goes to show
- 1:00:21that whoever's writing them is good at their job and I hate them. >> Yes. >> Yeah.
- 1:00:25>> So, because of you, I'm blocking them completely cuz I I just It was the last
- 1:00:29straw this week. >> No, I used to ScreenRant used to be one of my So So
- 1:00:34the way that I get news to talk about with you guys and in general
- 1:00:40>> old spreadsheet and look at all the stuff in there.
- 1:00:43>> depends on ScreenRant because they used to be good. Like >> Yes. And we
- 1:00:47>> I I subscribe to RSS feeds. I have an RSS feed reader and I That's how I get
- 1:00:51my news. I read websites that I like. I add them in there. Some that I don't
- 1:00:56like I don't really like Kotaku, but Kotaku has a good range of things. So,
- 1:01:01that's why Kotaku's in there. But I actually Like Sorry, Kotaku, if you're listening.
- 1:01:05I don't actually like your website because they do the same thing, just not as bad.
- 1:01:10>> Not as bad. There's still something there. And the thing is, we're not just
- 1:01:12going and reading the articles. We do put them in the show notes and put the
- 1:01:15links there. Like we're not just >> Yeah, exactly. Like if I get it from
- 1:01:19Like there's a ton of them in here from Kotaku. Like I'll link to them. You know. >> Yeah.
- 1:01:24>> I Yeah, I have got no qualms about doing that. But, um >> nothing in here from Screen
- 1:01:28>> Screen got the Screen got the boot because they Yeah, pissed me off.
- 1:01:32>> Yeah. No, it just It's so tight like it was Buffy Buffy
- 1:01:37was the one that got me again because it'd been just long enough that
- 1:01:43the show had been canceled. We all knew it. It just been just been long enough
- 1:01:46that hold on, maybe someone else has picked it up or something like that.
- 1:01:49>> And I know what you mean they were hinting at. It's the Angel
- 1:01:52comic series, too. So, it's not even Buffy. It's just pissing me off.
- 1:01:58>> That's right. It wasn't the Angel comic books as well.
- 1:02:00>> No, I saw cuz I saw I saw the news. But, but when I saw it, it didn't it didn't lie
- 1:02:06in the headline about it. It just said >> Yeah. >> Okay, yeah. I saw that news.
- 1:02:10>> Yeah. Yeah. Bastards. >> Yeah. >> Just getting my hopes up.
- 1:02:16>> Speaking of bastards, before we go Destiny 2 they've killed it and they've fired
- 1:02:23everybody apparently. Which is how video games work. >> Which is how video games work,
- 1:02:28especially a live service video game. They get >> I do think
- 1:02:31Yeah, I think the the weird thing about this is just that um they didn't
- 1:02:38I mean, I don't know how you would. You would I mean, you would tell the staff
- 1:02:41beforehand presumably. I don't know how far ahead of time, but but a lot of
- 1:02:45a lot of Bungie staff working on Destiny 2 found out Destiny 2 had been canceled
- 1:02:50and that they were probably going to be laid off when the press release went out. And I
- 1:02:54was like, that's a bit [ __ ] >> They could have let them
- 1:02:58They do tend to do that cuz it's a >> Because if you don't, someone will leak it.
- 1:03:03>> Leak it. And we also We haven't actually canceled It's not dead yet. And we still
- 1:03:08want you all to keep working on the stuff we've got in the pipeline.
- 1:03:11>> Yeah, that's true, too. Yeah. And and also just just to to
- 1:03:16killing it is an exaggeration. The game will [clears throat] still be there and
- 1:03:19still work. It's just not going to have any new content. Like what it is now or
- 1:03:23at the end of uh June. There's a content update in June and then that's it. >> Yeah.
- 1:03:30>> That's Destiny 2. >> And that's the thing. Like they want
- 1:03:33everyone to keep working to have that final release cuz the second they
- 1:03:36announce it and people find out, people are going to start well
- 1:03:40good thing I cut my resume up today and they're going to be >> Yeah.
- 1:03:43>> jumping ship and half-assing it again. >> Yeah, exactly. Yeah, that's fair.
- 1:03:47So there's some funny stuff that's happened as a as a result. There's a petition
- 1:03:51>> [laughter] >> demanding that Sony greenlight Destiny 3.
- 1:03:56Um which as far as I'm aware isn't a game that anybody's like pitched or anything. >> No.
- 1:04:03>> I'm not sure that's going to be you can't greenlight a game that doesn't exist. Like
- 1:04:08>> No. And I think the problem is is what and what we'll talk about last week as well is
- 1:04:14this type of game is not what's hot at the moment. >> No.
- 1:04:20That's true. >> Extraction shooter is and even Bungie's
- 1:04:23attempt at the extraction shooter didn't go well.
- 1:04:26>> And not only that, the other funny news is that Destiny players are now review
- 1:04:31bombing Marathon >> [laughter] >> to murder that game so that Bungie will
- 1:04:37make Destiny 3 instead. >> Yeah, that's not how that works.
