- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Swedish with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 40! Can you believe it? Lucas: I know, right? We've come a long way. Today we're going to talk about something that affects all of us. Luna: Ooh, what is it? Lucas: The weather! Specifically, how to describe it in Swedish. Luna: Perfect. I've been wanting to complain about the weather in Swedish for ages. Lucas: Well, today you'll learn exactly how. Let's start with the most common phrase: Det är kallt. Luna: Det är kallt. What does that mean? Lucas: It means 'It is cold'. Simple, right? Let's say it together: Det är kallt. Luna: Det är kallt. Lucas: Good! Now try saying it like you're really feeling the cold. Luna: Det är kallt! Brr. Lucas: Perfect. So if you step outside and it's chilly, you say: Det är kallt. Luna: Det är kallt. I can already use this. What about when it's nice and warm? Lucas: Then you say: Det är varmt. Luna: Det är varmt. That sounds almost like 'warm' in English. Lucas: Exactly! 'Varmt' is similar. Let's practice both: Det är kallt, Det är varmt. Luna: Det är kallt, Det är varmt. Lucas: Now let's add one more: when it's raining. In Swedish, you say: Det regnar. Luna: Det regnar. That means 'It's raining'? Lucas: Right. 'Regnar' is the verb 'rains'. So, Det regnar. Luna: Det regnar. I like how it sounds. Lucas: Let's put them all together. Repeat after me: Det är kallt. Luna: Det är kallt. Lucas: Det är varmt. Luna: Det är varmt. Lucas: Det regnar. Luna: Det regnar. Lucas: Great! Now let's imagine a scenario. You look out the window. What do you say if it's cold? Luna: Det är kallt. Lucas: And if it's warm? Luna: Det är varmt. Lucas: And if it's raining? Luna: Det regnar. Lucas: You're a natural. Let's make it a little more fun. I'll say a situation, and you respond with the right phrase. Luna: Okay, I'm ready. Lucas: You step outside and it's freezing. Luna: Det är kallt. Lucas: The sun is shining and it's pleasant. Luna: Det är varmt. Lucas: You forgot your umbrella and it's pouring. Luna: Det regnar. Lucas: Perfect. Now let's switch. You say the English, I'll say the Swedish. Luna: It's cold. Lucas: Det är kallt. Luna: It's warm. Lucas: Det är varmt. Luna: It's raining. Lucas: Det regnar. Luna: I think I've got it. Let me say all three in a row. Lucas: Go for it. Luna: Det är kallt. Det är varmt. Det regnar. Lucas: Excellent! You sound like a Swede already. Luna: Tack! Oh, that reminds me, we learned 'tack' in an earlier episode. Lucas: Yes, in Episode 6, I believe. Nice callback. So now you can describe the weather and say thank you. That's a win. Luna: Definitely. I'll be using Det regnar a lot today. It's supposed to rain. Lucas: Well, now you can tell everyone. Before we go, let's review one more time. Luna: Okay. Lucas: Det är kallt. Luna: Det är kallt. Lucas: Det är varmt. Luna: Det är varmt. Lucas: Det regnar. Luna: Det regnar. Lucas: Perfect. That's all for today's episode. Keep practicing, and next time we'll learn something new. Luna: Thanks for listening to Learn Swedish with Fexingo. Vi ses! Lucas: Vi ses! Hej då!
