- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one piece episodes six h one through six h three,
- 0:15Speaker 1: Shaking up the New World, Caesar's horrendous experiment, the deadliest
- 0:20Speaker 1: weapon of mass destruction in history, Shinokuni, and launching the
- 0:26Speaker 1: counter attack Loofy, and Law's great escape. In these episodes,
- 0:33Speaker 1: the kids are beginning to have some wild hallucinations. This
- 0:38Speaker 1: was something I didn't foresee. This is going to throw
- 0:40Speaker 1: a wrench in things. Law. It appears anticipated that he
- 0:45Speaker 1: was going to be betrayed, so that works out well,
- 0:49Speaker 1: and everybody outside is beginning to realize even if they
- 0:54Speaker 1: worked for the man in charge, that is not going
- 0:56Speaker 1: to save them. Welcome to spoil Me, Well, Welcome to
- 1:19Speaker 1: the show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you very much
- 1:22Speaker 1: to Florian for commissioning this episode. These are really actually
- 1:30Speaker 1: quite fun episodes. I'm feeling really good about this arc overall,
- 1:34Speaker 1: because there, you know, have been plenty of times where
- 1:37Speaker 1: something has started off really strong and then it just
- 1:39Speaker 1: hasn't gone in the direction that I was hoping. What
- 1:45Speaker 1: we are getting here is like a little bit There
- 1:52Speaker 1: were some parts of it that I kind of was
- 1:54Speaker 1: like about I'm gonna kind of be jumping around here
- 1:58Speaker 1: a little bit, so forgive me, everybody, but one of
- 2:02Speaker 1: the major things for me and I had a lot
- 2:07Speaker 1: to say in the last episode, the last podcast episode
- 2:12Speaker 1: about my feelings regarding whether or not it's necessary to
- 2:17Speaker 1: make people die for there to be steaks, and I
- 2:22Speaker 1: stand by everything I said, but there's really no point
- 2:27Speaker 1: just like harping on that continuously. We know how I feel,
- 2:32Speaker 1: I know how Oda feels. He isn't going to be
- 2:35Speaker 1: changing the way he does things because I feel a
- 2:37Speaker 1: way about it, and I just have to like reconcile
- 2:42Speaker 1: myself to to a degree. Some things are going to
- 2:46Speaker 1: feel a little bit less satisfying to me just because
- 2:50Speaker 1: I am not feeling the stakes the same way. And
- 2:54Speaker 1: I am going to try and keep my like common
- 3:00Speaker 1: harry on that to a minimum, just because I've said
- 3:03Speaker 1: it already. There's no need, you know, but I will
- 3:08Speaker 1: mention that just the fact that the uh, the gas alteration,
- 3:15Speaker 1: because like Caesar Clown, basically what he has done is
- 3:21Speaker 1: added an element a giant candy as it turns out,
- 3:26Speaker 1: to this gas smiley to make it so that it
- 3:33Speaker 1: turns people into stone. A part of me can't help
- 3:41Speaker 1: but like laugh a little bit because it feels like
- 3:48Speaker 1: we're running out of ideas a bit on how to
- 3:52Speaker 1: make people suffer consequences to a thing without killing them.
- 3:58Speaker 1: And we have done the turning people to stone with
- 4:03Speaker 1: the wax wax fruit, we have done it with the
- 4:08Speaker 1: I think love Love fruit is the one that Boa
- 4:10Speaker 1: ate and I really there is just a sense for
- 4:15Speaker 1: me of like Oda having to brainstorm what are ways
- 4:20Speaker 1: to kill people that I can easily undo, and turning
- 4:24Speaker 1: to stone is really just the most reliable one that
- 4:28Speaker 1: he keeps reaching for. And I'm not even like really
- 4:33Speaker 1: mad at it. It just is a little repetitive after
- 4:37Speaker 1: a point, because you do you know, we've done this before,
- 4:42Speaker 1: so I'm going to obviously treat this as the characters
- 4:51Speaker 1: do in terms of like, oh, what a horrible thing
- 4:54Speaker 1: he's doing. But I can't help but be like, yeah, well,
- 4:56Speaker 1: those guys are gonna be fine. We're gonna undo all
- 4:59Speaker 1: of this. They're just made into stone. I'm sure there's
- 5:02Speaker 1: something we can do to undo the stone and they
- 5:05Speaker 1: will be back to normal and we will have lost nothing.
- 5:09Speaker 1: So you know, I again, that's just the nature of writing,
- 5:16Speaker 1: the way that he wants to write. That said, though,
- 5:20Speaker 1: the fact that it's like, let's give this giant jelly
- 5:25Speaker 1: creature fucking like a big piece of candy to make
- 5:30Speaker 1: it turn into an even more weird, deadly gas, I
- 5:35Speaker 1: can't deny that shit is very funny. Like that is
- 5:39Speaker 1: such a the candy theme with this guy. There's something
- 5:44Speaker 1: about it that, coupled with how creepy I already find
- 5:50Speaker 1: medical experimentation, the sort of innocence allegedly of candy, you know,
- 6:00Speaker 1: like the association of it, it makes it all the
- 6:04Speaker 1: more unnerving and unpleasant, and I think it works quite well.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Caesar Clown is, despite his name, I think just pretty
- 6:17Speaker 1: solid so far in my book, Like as a villain,
- 6:21Speaker 1: I am pretty into him, So I hope that he
- 6:25Speaker 1: doesn't like fully lose me anywhere along the way. We're
- 6:28Speaker 1: doing really well so far. So let's all right, let's
- 6:32Speaker 1: start off with with six ' oho one shaking up
- 6:36Speaker 1: the New World. So I had said in the last
- 6:38Speaker 1: episode that the kids reach the lab, but I had
- 6:43Speaker 1: completely forgotten that they don't get off this like airship
- 6:46Speaker 1: right away. So the first of these three episodes is
- 6:51Speaker 1: the kids being brought back to the lab off of
- 6:54Speaker 1: the ship. And it's sort of an interesting thing here
- 6:57Speaker 1: because the kids are are the way that we're shorthanding
- 7:02Speaker 1: that they are still in the throes of their addiction.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Is these whited out eyes, right? And I had kind
- 7:13Speaker 1: of thought that once their eyes were back to normal
- 7:18Speaker 1: that it would indicate they had broken through to the
- 7:22Speaker 1: other side and they were no longer under this like
- 7:28Speaker 1: detox pressure. But the little girl who winds up like
- 7:35Speaker 1: starting shit because she's seeing things, her eyes do look normal.
- 7:42Speaker 1: And so when I first saw her eyes, I was like, oh,
- 7:46Speaker 1: here it is. Because you may remember that in the
- 7:48Speaker 1: last episode, I was sort of like, is it possible
- 7:52Speaker 1: that they'll break through to the other side and kind
- 7:54Speaker 1: of come back to themselves, or is it possible that,
- 7:57Speaker 1: like they get given the drug and they, because it
- 8:00Speaker 1: restores them to their right mind, realize that they made
- 8:02Speaker 1: a mistake coming back here. And so when I saw
- 8:06Speaker 1: that her eyes had gone back to normal, I thought,
- 8:10Speaker 1: here it is. This is a kid that has gone
- 8:14Speaker 1: through all the way to the other side is no
- 8:16Speaker 1: longer in the DTS, and so she is beginning to
- 8:20Speaker 1: see the reality of where they are and the fact
- 8:24Speaker 1: that they're being put back into a cage basically, and
- 8:30Speaker 1: it's like a weird The way that this happens is
- 8:33Speaker 1: she's looking at all of the kids walking back into
- 8:38Speaker 1: the lab in front of her, and when she's watching
- 8:43Speaker 1: them and acting scared of the guy who comes up
- 8:46Speaker 1: to her, her eyes in that moment are all white,
- 8:52Speaker 1: and so she's seeing this dude as a lizard. Like.
- 8:58Speaker 1: It's actually really really fun because the suggestion they're making,
- 9:02Speaker 1: based on the flashbacks they give us of her time
- 9:06Speaker 1: in the cave and what it was that USAP was
- 9:09Speaker 1: saying about how these are bad guys, it's basically sort
- 9:13Speaker 1: of the what USAP said penetrated subliminally, and so even
- 9:17Speaker 1: though she isn't fully in control of her thoughts, something
- 9:23Speaker 1: about what he said has felt true and she isn't
- 9:29Speaker 1: able to fully articulate it. So it's sort of manifesting
- 9:33Speaker 1: in this vision that she's seeing. And so that's how
- 9:38Speaker 1: I was taking that then. And then when they close
- 9:42Speaker 1: the door behind her and there's like multiple locks and whatnot,
- 9:48Speaker 1: she immediately her eyes turned back to normal and she says, no,
- 9:55Speaker 1: please save me, noa me. I don't want to be here.
- 9:57Speaker 1: I want to get out of here. And I thought
- 10:03Speaker 1: like I said that that was the end of it.
- 10:05Speaker 1: But we go back into this vision and one of
- 10:09Speaker 1: the guards he's still a lizard, and then the other
- 10:11Speaker 1: guy is a frog, I think. And then she starts saying,
- 10:18Speaker 1: you're scary your monsters, stay back, let me go. I
- 10:21Speaker 1: want to be with my nice friends like before. Is
- 10:24Speaker 1: this some kind of punishment for being bad? I see now,
- 10:28Speaker 1: I should have listened to what they told me. I'm
- 10:30Speaker 1: so sorry. Please help me. I promise I'll be good.
- 10:35Speaker 1: And she starts pounding on the door and remind her
- 10:37Speaker 1: like she's a giant kid. She's one of the big ones.
- 10:40Speaker 1: So her pounding on the door, actually, you know, it's
- 10:43Speaker 1: not going to really do anything. She's not gonna get out,
- 10:46Speaker 1: but it's more significant than one of the littler kids,
- 10:48Speaker 1: and the guards can't just like grip her up and
- 10:50Speaker 1: drag her. But the fact that she it was a
- 10:55Speaker 1: little bit confusing to me. So curious what you guys think,
- 10:58Speaker 1: because the fact that she her eyes become sort of
- 11:02Speaker 1: normal made me feel as if we're getting her back
- 11:07Speaker 1: to her right mind. But then she's still seeing them
- 11:11Speaker 1: like she's in this state and she's calling for Nami
- 11:18Speaker 1: and is like my nice friends. So that feels like
- 11:20Speaker 1: her judgment is back on track again. But I think
- 11:25Speaker 1: maybe she's just not. I think that maybe what we're
- 11:29Speaker 1: getting with like her eyes returning to normal is just
- 11:34Speaker 1: a shorthand for she is not fully and completely absorbed
- 11:41Speaker 1: in the fugue state that everyone is. It may not
- 11:44Speaker 1: be that she is back to normal, but she is
- 11:49Speaker 1: the first to see through what's happening around her in
- 11:53Speaker 1: a way that the others haven't. But yeah, I just
- 11:57Speaker 1: wanted to mention that because like it just kind of
- 11:59Speaker 1: went back in fourth for a second in a way
- 12:01Speaker 1: that I was like, hold on, hold on, I thought
- 12:02Speaker 1: I knew what this men, and I guess not. But yeah,
- 12:05Speaker 1: I'm really interested to see how things go down with
- 12:08Speaker 1: this because the fact that like she has turned a corner.
- 12:12Speaker 1: At first, all the other kids are yelling at her,
- 12:16Speaker 1: basically saying because like when they arrive, of course, what
- 12:20Speaker 1: Caesar clown says is I have enough candy to stuff
- 12:24Speaker 1: yourselves in the biscuit room. Go in there and have
- 12:28Speaker 1: as much as you want. And then he tells his
- 12:30Speaker 1: guards like and don't fucking let them out again. And
- 12:35Speaker 1: I really am wondering, like the kids at first, as
- 12:40Speaker 1: she's starting to throw this tantrum, I feel like saying
- 12:44Speaker 1: that it's a tantrum is kind of shitty because that
- 12:47Speaker 1: tantrum really often implies that somebody is completely overreacting, and
- 12:52Speaker 1: that is not the case here at all. But I'm
- 12:55Speaker 1: just gonna call it that for the shorthand the fact
- 12:56Speaker 1: that she is doing this. The other kids at first
- 12:59Speaker 1: all seem to really really resent and I can't help
- 13:04Speaker 1: but feel like either they are all going to get
- 13:10Speaker 1: on the same page with her, or She's going to
- 13:14Speaker 1: like kind of infect their brains with this imagery this
- 13:18Speaker 1: by suggesting, Hey, I think that you know where there
- 13:22Speaker 1: are these guys are actually monsters. If she's only being
- 13:27Speaker 1: told that, like, these guys are bad guys was enough
- 13:29Speaker 1: to make her suddenly see them as literal monsters, I
- 13:32Speaker 1: would have to assume her saying something similar is enough
- 13:38Speaker 1: to get the rest of the kids seeing this way
- 13:42Speaker 1: as well. I would think maybe I'm wrong about that.
- 13:45Speaker 1: I don't know, but I am hopeful because, like, really,
- 13:52Speaker 1: when we get to the bottom of things, guys, I
- 13:57Speaker 1: don't like these kids being taken advantage of in any way.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I don't like the fact that they may get given
- 14:07Speaker 1: drugs again that gets them rehooked, Like, so we have
- 14:11Speaker 1: to maybe go through all of this detox yet again,
- 14:16Speaker 1: all of this stuff is it just makes me really
- 14:21Speaker 1: sad and uncomfortable to think about. And I would love
- 14:26Speaker 1: it if we were able to have all of these
- 14:30Speaker 1: kids start to kind of come to their senses and
- 14:34Speaker 1: just be a real pain in the dick for Caesar clown,
- 14:41Speaker 1: Like they don't even need to fully come back to
- 14:43Speaker 1: themselves and be like the Master is evil and he's
- 14:47Speaker 1: the one doing this to us and we've been fooled,
- 14:50Speaker 1: Like they don't need to fully get it, but they are.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Some of them are huge, like this girl in particular,
- 14:58Speaker 1: I think she's one of I think there's maybe three
- 15:00Speaker 1: or four that are really big. And so if she
- 15:06Speaker 1: and some of the other big ones decided that they
- 15:09Speaker 1: wanted to really dig their heels in and ruin these
- 15:12Speaker 1: guys' day, they could. And I for one fully support
- 15:18Speaker 1: this and love this idea. So I'm really looking forward
- 15:23Speaker 1: to Hopefully it would almost be more fun in a
- 15:26Speaker 1: way if the kids lashed out because they thought everybody
- 15:30Speaker 1: was a monster, Like I could see if you're writing
- 15:35Speaker 1: this and you do need the kids to eventually lash
- 15:39Speaker 1: out against their captors. That's a really tricky line that
- 15:45Speaker 1: you have to walk because they're children, so you don't
- 15:49Speaker 1: want them to be in like a bloodthirsty little monsters,
- 15:52Speaker 1: but also they need to be aggressive enough to get
- 15:56Speaker 1: themselves out of the situation they're in. So I think
- 16:00Speaker 1: I think this is probably a pretty good approach of
- 16:03Speaker 1: being like, all right, the kids are going to get
- 16:05Speaker 1: very agro, but they're going to think that these men
- 16:09Speaker 1: aren't really people, and so that kind of puts it
- 16:12Speaker 1: into a place where even if they start to get
- 16:16Speaker 1: a little out of hand, you can forgive it because well,
- 16:19Speaker 1: these are monsters they think they're fighting, so it's not
- 16:22Speaker 1: as horrifying, you know. So anyway, that's just my thought
- 16:26Speaker 1: on that. But the kids are just unexpectedly becoming more
- 16:30Speaker 1: interesting to me throughout all of this. So let's see,
- 16:35Speaker 1: Oh right, we have Nami in Soanji's body coming to
- 16:40Speaker 1: rescue usap and this is a thing that happens more
- 16:45Speaker 1: than once, but usup keeps calling Nami Sanji and then
- 16:51Speaker 1: when Nami is reminding him that she is in fact
- 16:54Speaker 1: like Nami in his body, he keeps looking really disappointed.
- 16:59Speaker 1: And I was so bummed about this, you guys, because
- 17:02Speaker 1: like I stand by my need for Nami to become
- 17:08Speaker 1: a slightly better fighter. I just need, I need something
- 17:15Speaker 1: because I don't like the fact that he can have
- 17:18Speaker 1: this reaction to her, and that I get why, you
- 17:22Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, because usup is a scared cat,
- 17:26Speaker 1: and he of course is like going to feel less
- 17:31Speaker 1: excited about the fact that he is with somebody who
- 17:36Speaker 1: isn't going to be able to absolutely kick ass the
- 17:38Speaker 1: way that Sonji can. Now the question is a little
- 17:42Speaker 1: bit here, how do their abilities work? Because I feel
- 17:47Speaker 1: like even though Sonji is in Nami's body, that he
- 17:50Speaker 1: was able in the last episodes to do some of
- 17:54Speaker 1: that like skywalk thing that he you know, when he's
- 17:58Speaker 1: getting out of the lake and the gas is closing
- 18:01Speaker 1: in on him, he basically like shoots upward through the
- 18:06Speaker 1: one gap in the water where the gas hasn't penetrated yet,
- 18:11Speaker 1: And it's because he's using that ability. So, like my
- 18:17Speaker 1: thought had been, your ability goes with the body, but
- 18:24Speaker 1: if we're looking at the way things went with him,
- 18:27Speaker 1: maybe that's not actually correct. I don't know anyway, So
- 18:34Speaker 1: she's like, all right, we really have to go oos up,
- 18:36Speaker 1: and eventually they get the help of Brown Beard, who
- 18:41Speaker 1: agrees to carry them even though he is injured and
- 18:45Speaker 1: really like the dude says, are you kidding you? Guys
- 18:49Speaker 1: are nothing like carrying you is not a big deal
- 18:53Speaker 1: at all. They're very much like, hey, man, I know
- 18:56Speaker 1: this is this is a big pain, and he's like, no,
- 18:59Speaker 1: it's fine. They're also feeling indebted to him, understandably because
- 19:03Speaker 1: he swooped in and saved their lives at the last
- 19:06Speaker 1: second when they were about to get beat to death
- 19:08Speaker 1: by a bunch of fucking infants. So yeah, just real quick, guys,
- 19:13Speaker 1: if you can hear some odd sounds, that's that's good
- 19:16Speaker 1: old Pippin over here chewing on one of his favorite shoes.
- 19:21Speaker 1: So apologies if that sound comes through on the recording.
- 19:25Speaker 1: So we've got this moment here with Virgo and Monette.
- 19:33Speaker 1: I keep forgetting her name now, Virgo, it's sort of weird.
- 19:40Speaker 1: So first of all, let's talk about the fact that
- 19:42Speaker 1: somehow this man has basically magnetic skin and he gets
- 19:49Speaker 1: a cup of coffee or tea or something, and she
- 19:55Speaker 1: like it, gives him milk and a spoon to stir
- 19:59Speaker 1: into it, and he takes a sip out of the
- 20:02Speaker 1: cup while the spoon is resting on the side, and
- 20:06Speaker 1: then it just sticks to his face. Friends, I don't
- 20:12Speaker 1: know what this means. Why is this happening? Does? Why
- 20:16Speaker 1: do things keep sticking to his face? Is this anything? Like?
- 20:21Speaker 1: It's just such a bizarre little thing to have happen
- 20:25Speaker 1: over and over again, and I guess this is just
- 20:30Speaker 1: gonna be something going on with this character. Like I
- 20:34Speaker 1: would just love to ask Oda, what is the sort
- 20:42Speaker 1: of like mechanism by which you determine quirks of a character,
- 20:49Speaker 1: Because some things feel really like understandable and like that's
- 20:57Speaker 1: based in reality, And then there are things like this
- 20:59Speaker 1: where I'm like, look, I understand always maybe having food
- 21:03Speaker 1: on your face. I am somebody who personally struggles a
- 21:05Speaker 1: lot with always staining my clothes. I get food on
- 21:09Speaker 1: my clothes constantly, and it's really really annoying. But I
- 21:16Speaker 1: don't get a whole steak or a whole spoon stuck
- 21:20Speaker 1: to my face. So I just, uh, this is just
- 21:26Speaker 1: such a strange thing. So he's like in the midst
- 21:30Speaker 1: I noticed here Monette doesn't look very happy with him,
- 21:33Speaker 1: because she asks if he would like more milk or
- 21:36Speaker 1: sugar or something, and he says, no, he's fine, and
- 21:39Speaker 1: the camera zooms in on her face in such a way,
- 21:42Speaker 1: and I wasn't sure if it's supposed to be that
- 21:43Speaker 1: she's upset that he declined the offer because she had
- 21:47Speaker 1: some sort of plan to give him something else, or
- 21:51Speaker 1: if it was like I'm going to uh. I was
- 21:57Speaker 1: looking at you as the spoon stuck to your face,
- 22:00Speaker 1: and so I felt a way about that, But it
- 22:05Speaker 1: just the expression. There was almost a sense of like
- 22:08Speaker 1: her being annoyed with him, and I can't decide if
- 22:14Speaker 1: I'm imagining that or not. So anyway, this I'm sort
- 22:23Speaker 1: of jumping around here. But this is when Caesar Clown
- 22:25Speaker 1: comes in, and I had sort of expected Caesar Clown
- 22:31Speaker 1: to be like, what are you doing here? I really you, guys.
- 22:35Speaker 1: I was really behind on the uptake on this. I had.
- 22:40Speaker 1: The way I was thinking this was going was that
- 22:44Speaker 1: Money is working with Virgo and not with Caesar Clown,
- 22:53Speaker 1: the way she has been pretending that Caesar Clown is
- 22:57Speaker 1: her assignment, but Vigo is the one really in charge,
- 23:02Speaker 1: and he doesn't know Vigo is here. That Vigo's arrival
- 23:07Speaker 1: is like kind of throwing a wrench into things, and
- 23:10Speaker 1: maybe that's why she is looking like a little bit
- 23:14Speaker 1: weirded out here because he's an actual superior. I don't know.
- 23:19Speaker 1: And then Caesar clown comes in and like Vigo had
- 23:24Speaker 1: just said to her, maybe you could tell me why
- 23:26Speaker 1: Caesar is taking so long, And I was thinking it
- 23:31Speaker 1: was gonna be Caesar walks in and is just like you,
- 23:36Speaker 1: you know, not at all, not even a little bit.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Caesar fully is aware, and this dude is part of
- 23:45Speaker 1: the whole thing, And I really should have seen this coming.
- 23:50Speaker 1: I was also like, really confused in the last episode,
- 23:52Speaker 1: but I didn't get a chance to talk about it.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Why Vigo even has Law's heart because that's Law's power, right,
- 24:03Speaker 1: So part of me was like, does this man have
- 24:06Speaker 1: a power by which he can co opt other people's
- 24:09Speaker 1: power temporarily? Like you know, that would probably be is
- 24:15Speaker 1: there a devil fruit that's just like the fruit fruit fruit,
- 24:20Speaker 1: where you just like are able to absorb other people's
- 24:24Speaker 1: powers just temporarily. But I can't believe that it didn't
- 24:33Speaker 1: occur to me that these two were fully working together.
- 24:36Speaker 1: They just both don't seem like they are the type
- 24:39Speaker 1: to have partners of equal power, you know what I'm saying,
- 24:46Speaker 1: And I know that kind of should have tipped me
- 24:49Speaker 1: off about how there was the setup for Law, but
- 24:53Speaker 1: I just didn't see Law as being more powerful than
- 24:58Speaker 1: Caesar Clown. And like Caesar Clown's reasoning later on when
- 25:03Speaker 1: we see the flashback to where he convinces Law to
- 25:06Speaker 1: give him his heart, his reasoning is like, you are
- 25:10Speaker 1: more powerful than me, So I think you probably understand
- 25:13Speaker 1: why I feel like uncomfortable with this. And I was
- 25:16Speaker 1: genuinely surprised because, like, don't get me wrong, Law is
- 25:20Speaker 1: super powerful. But what Caesar is able to do with
- 25:27Speaker 1: like completely taking somebody's oxygen a way, I don't know.
- 25:31Speaker 1: I guess if he can do that, it depends on
- 25:35Speaker 1: having access to the space right around a person. So
- 25:39Speaker 1: Law would be able to create a room, and like
- 25:43Speaker 1: nothing that Caesar Clown does to the air would be
- 25:47Speaker 1: able to get in amongst that. Right, I think this
- 25:52Speaker 1: is just a like, you know, me trying to work
- 25:54Speaker 1: things out in real time. But yeah, anyway, I hadn't
- 25:57Speaker 1: considered Law as more powerful Caesar Clown. Considering the fact
- 26:01Speaker 1: that Caesar Clown had managed to take Loofy down and
- 26:05Speaker 1: Lufy is so strong that the fact that he gets
- 26:09Speaker 1: bested the way he does really did make me kind
- 26:13Speaker 1: of go, oh, yikes, you know, but as it turns out,
- 26:18Speaker 1: Law is a step ahead of everything. But yeah, So
- 26:23Speaker 1: what he had said was, I'm going to do to
- 26:27Speaker 1: make a deal with you and when you like if
- 26:33Speaker 1: you're going to be higher power than me, but you're
- 26:35Speaker 1: going to be trapesing around this island and you know,
- 26:38Speaker 1: right up under my nose all the time. I am
- 26:42Speaker 1: going to need something to ensure that you can't just
- 26:48Speaker 1: turn on me at any moment, some sort of insurance.
- 26:51Speaker 1: So he offers Monet's heart for Law. Monee seems genuinely startled.
- 27:03Speaker 1: She goes along with it, but it really didn't seem
- 27:06Speaker 1: like she appreciated it or was excited about it. The
- 27:10Speaker 1: thing that shocked me, though, was more how Law goes
- 27:16Speaker 1: along with it, because I definitely had a moment of
- 27:19Speaker 1: like Monet's heart, No, like Monee's nobody, she's just an underling.
- 27:28Speaker 1: That's not actually insurance for you, because it's meant to
- 27:32Speaker 1: be like, I'll keep your heart, but I won't have
- 27:35Speaker 1: total leverage over you because you'll have Monet's heart. But
- 27:38Speaker 1: like I guess. I guess the thought might have been
- 27:44Speaker 1: that I can like pressure Monette into getting my heart
- 27:49Speaker 1: for me, and it just it didn't feel like an
- 27:54Speaker 1: even trade, you know, and it isn't. I guess that's
- 27:57Speaker 1: like really the point. But what it turns out is
- 28:02Speaker 1: really going on is that he is handing that heart
- 28:05Speaker 1: over to Law, and so this fucking dude can just
- 28:08Speaker 1: stand over him and squeeze the hell out of it
- 28:11Speaker 1: and just fuck up his entire day. And that is
- 28:16Speaker 1: really scary, actually, and it's remarkable that Law isn't more
- 28:21Speaker 1: freaked out by this to me. But I'm jumping around
- 28:26Speaker 1: yet again. Sorry about this, everybody, So I'm trying to
- 28:32Speaker 1: jump ahead. Okay, So the candy that just comes like
- 28:35Speaker 1: popping out of nowhere and lands. All the men are
- 28:39Speaker 1: just like, what the hell is this thing? It's candy.
- 28:41Speaker 1: It's a giant piece of candy. Now, what I find
- 28:46Speaker 1: really funny is the fact that evidently Caesar Clown thought
- 28:50Speaker 1: he knew how this was going to work out. I don't.
- 28:57Speaker 1: I so Caesar Clown, he He's chosen to do this
- 29:03Speaker 1: in a way that kind of showcases his ineptitude. If
- 29:08Speaker 1: we're being real, he has on camera, this whole thing
- 29:14Speaker 1: that he is doing for everybody to see, because in
- 29:18Speaker 1: his mind, he is about to show him how it's done.
- 29:22Speaker 1: He is about to like really show off his creation,
- 29:26Speaker 1: devastate the entire island, and get a bunch of like
- 29:30Speaker 1: people calling in with their orders. But the Smiley, I'm
- 29:38Speaker 1: gonna call it the because just saying Smiley, it doesn't
- 29:40Speaker 1: feel alive enough for me to like call it by
- 29:44Speaker 1: its name as if it's a person. The Smiley feels
- 29:48Speaker 1: like a little bit more accurate to me. But I
- 29:52Speaker 1: don't know, maybe that's just me. But he because he
- 29:59Speaker 1: is so proud and has decided that he's gonna handle
- 30:03Speaker 1: it this way. When Smiley doesn't do what he says,
- 30:09Speaker 1: it makes him look like a damned fool. And I
- 30:14Speaker 1: couldn't help but wonder, like, did you just shoot yourself
- 30:17Speaker 1: in the foot with this thing? I feel like he
- 30:18Speaker 1: must have done. This is a classic Frankenstein situation where
- 30:24Speaker 1: you create something that is meant to be something you
- 30:28Speaker 1: can use against other people, and then it turns on you.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Not to say that originally doctor Frankenstein wanted to use
- 30:36Speaker 1: the monster against other people exactly. He was just doing
- 30:39Speaker 1: it to see if he could do it, but in
- 30:43Speaker 1: this case, I am sort of hoping that like the
- 30:47Speaker 1: smiley will turn on Caesar and eat him up or
- 30:52Speaker 1: take him down or something. I don't really know why
- 30:55Speaker 1: it would or yeah, I'm not even try and guess,
- 31:02Speaker 1: but I just felt like, if you hadn't decided you
- 31:05Speaker 1: were going to send this this footage out to everybody
- 31:11Speaker 1: in real time, you wouldn't have been able to be
- 31:15Speaker 1: humiliated like this. And the way that he attempts to
- 31:18Speaker 1: stop smiling is by saying, like, it's been a long time,
- 31:23Speaker 1: we have so much catching up to do again. This
- 31:28Speaker 1: thing does not strike me as alive enough to have
- 31:33Speaker 1: this sort of conversation and have it mean anything. He's
- 31:38Speaker 1: talking to it like it's a person that he's telling, Oh, well,
- 31:43Speaker 1: give us a second to just, you know, see where
- 31:47Speaker 1: how's your mother doing, you know, and then we'll drink
- 31:51Speaker 1: our beers. But you aren't out there actually holding the
- 31:56Speaker 1: candy away from him, you know, Like if I put
- 31:58Speaker 1: down a steak in front of Pippin and I wasn't
- 32:02Speaker 1: there to tell him don't eat it. If I was
- 32:05Speaker 1: like behind a door, of course he's gonna go for
- 32:08Speaker 1: it anyway. He's not gonna listen to me if I'm
- 32:11Speaker 1: in the room. I believe he would. Maybe he wouldn't,
- 32:14Speaker 1: but I think he would. But Caesar, you can't just
- 32:21Speaker 1: like put the thing out there and then expect it
- 32:23Speaker 1: to exercise self control. Why did you think it was
- 32:27Speaker 1: going to want to? Can it even talk? What does
- 32:30Speaker 1: the catching up to do even look like? How would
- 32:35Speaker 1: it respond to you? I genuinely don't know what it
- 32:39Speaker 1: is that he is expecting here, And you know all
- 32:45Speaker 1: this said, when it really like comes down to it,
- 32:48Speaker 1: it doesn't seem like this went as poorly as it
- 32:54Speaker 1: could have gone. Like it all kicks off a little
- 32:58Speaker 1: earlier than Caesar really wanted, but it doesn't seem like
- 33:02Speaker 1: it's ruined anything. So I'm not sure exactly what it
- 33:06Speaker 1: was that if he was trying to do the like,
- 33:09Speaker 1: let's catch up for the benefit of the cameras because
- 33:11Speaker 1: he wanted some other thing to shake out a certain way,
- 33:16Speaker 1: I guess that's the only thing that we missed out on.
- 33:20Speaker 1: I'm sorry, guys, Pippin is over here like trying to
- 33:22Speaker 1: get my attention, and I'm sorry, Bud, but I can't
- 33:25Speaker 1: let you out right now. Let me just text Owen
- 33:30Speaker 1: but anyway, so this the transformation of all of these
- 33:38Speaker 1: dudes who are outside into stone. It's honestly what takes
- 33:43Speaker 1: up a lot of the next episode because most of
- 33:48Speaker 1: what's going on is people running and the the smoke,
- 33:54Speaker 1: the gas chasing them. It's a because this whole thing
- 34:00Speaker 1: as well with the candy. There are all of these
- 34:04Speaker 1: guys that are outside, like in the area where Smiley
- 34:10Speaker 1: is with the candy, and Caesar is saying, like, give
- 34:16Speaker 1: him the candy and then the dragon sledge should get
- 34:21Speaker 1: you out of there. That should do the trick. You
- 34:23Speaker 1: want to get out quick because it's dangerous. And as
- 34:29Speaker 1: he's saying this, there's this gas that's sort of like
- 34:33Speaker 1: melting the sled. The sled is made of wood, I think,
- 34:36Speaker 1: and it's just burning through the sled itself and the rope.
- 34:43Speaker 1: I have to give a shout out to the design
- 34:45Speaker 1: of this dragon. First of all, it's only the second
- 34:48Speaker 1: dragon we've ever seen, so it's very funny to me
- 34:52Speaker 1: how like casual this is the dragon sled. But secondly,
- 34:57Speaker 1: if anybody out there has ever seen Santa Claus Is
- 35:01Speaker 1: Coming to Town, which is a classic Christmas claymation movie,
- 35:07Speaker 1: there is a character named the Burgermeister, and he at
- 35:12Speaker 1: one point is like riding in a wagon or something
- 35:15Speaker 1: being pulled by a horse, and the Burgermeister says something
- 35:19Speaker 1: about how like he loves singing sad children and laughs,
- 35:24Speaker 1: and then the horse pulling the wagon like laugh naze
- 35:30Speaker 1: in a really evil, villainous way. And that's always been
- 35:35Speaker 1: one of my favorite little bits in the movie is
- 35:37Speaker 1: the fact that even the horse is evil. So you
- 35:42Speaker 1: can imagine my delight when the dragon is like glancing
- 35:50Speaker 1: over his shoulder as the ropes begin to like fizzle
- 35:54Speaker 1: and get eaten up by the gas. This dragon is
- 35:59Speaker 1: so to at the way this is all going down.
- 36:02Speaker 1: I am assuming because of the way the dragon is
- 36:05Speaker 1: acting it's not being harmed by this gas now. I
- 36:10Speaker 1: think it will be once things go further, but I'm
- 36:14Speaker 1: not sure the dragon has the capacity to really understand
- 36:18Speaker 1: that part. But I just wanted to give a shout
- 36:24Speaker 1: out honorable mention because this dragon's reaction it's so great
- 36:30Speaker 1: in the moment when he runs away. And then later
- 36:34Speaker 1: I was watching this and Owen was getting ready to
- 36:37Speaker 1: leave for work, and so he was in the kitchen
- 36:41Speaker 1: as like I'm watching this just cackling to myself, and
- 36:45Speaker 1: then he walks in at a later moment when you
- 36:49Speaker 1: see the dragon running again, because the camera goes back
- 36:52Speaker 1: to him, and he started laughing so hard because the
- 36:59Speaker 1: anime of this dragon running again, he just looks so mischievous.
- 37:04Speaker 1: He looks like somebody who is getting away with something,
- 37:08Speaker 1: and that shit is just delightful. I really don't want
- 37:13Speaker 1: this dragon to die. I want this dragon to be
- 37:16Speaker 1: around and to live through the gas. I would like
- 37:22Speaker 1: it best if he doesn't turn to stone, but if
- 37:24Speaker 1: he does turn to stone and then you know, eventually
- 37:29Speaker 1: is brought back, that's fine too. I just don't want
- 37:33Speaker 1: the dragon to actually die because he is a very fun,
- 37:37Speaker 1: very adorable animation. Considering usually when in this show, when
- 37:42Speaker 1: a creature isn't meant to be kind of like an antagonist,
- 37:47Speaker 1: they are drawn to be really ugly in a particular way,
- 37:51Speaker 1: and that isn't done here. The dragon is just like
- 37:57Speaker 1: very adorable. You know, it looks like something that you
- 38:00Speaker 1: could buy as like a plush, and he's just gonna
- 38:02Speaker 1: kind of as he's running along. Shit is so good, y'all.
- 38:08Speaker 1: I loved it so much. I wouldn't mind a plush
- 38:10Speaker 1: of that dragon at all. So anyway, all of this
- 38:16Speaker 1: is happening. These dudes like eventually Caesar tells them, oh,
- 38:20Speaker 1: those suits aren't going to help you anymore, so there
- 38:25Speaker 1: and they're gonna slow you down as you try to
- 38:27Speaker 1: run away, so probably best if you just take them off,
- 38:33Speaker 1: and they're like really. One of the guys is like,
- 38:36Speaker 1: I don't know about that, and another dude replies with like,
- 38:39Speaker 1: has he ever been wrong before? Come on to just
- 38:42Speaker 1: do what he says. And to be fair, I expected
- 38:46Speaker 1: that as soon as they took them off, it would
- 38:48Speaker 1: start to all go downhill, and it doesn't. Actually, they
- 38:53Speaker 1: are able to run and things seem to be okay
- 38:56Speaker 1: for a few moments, but as like as they are running,
- 39:02Speaker 1: we cut over to our friends and smiley reminder is
- 39:07Speaker 1: big enough that it seems to be menacing, like more
- 39:09Speaker 1: than one group of people at a time. So they're
- 39:11Speaker 1: running and they're sort of look behind themselves that like, wait,
- 39:14Speaker 1: why does it stop chasing us? Because it's focused on
- 39:17Speaker 1: eating this candy, And then we see as the change
- 39:25Speaker 1: takes place with the effect of this gas, one of
- 39:29Speaker 1: the marines is like, because you know this is all
- 39:32Speaker 1: on billboards, I don't know what's how to call this,
- 39:35Speaker 1: like giant screens, I guess. So everybody who's outside, even
- 39:40Speaker 1: if they're not in the area where Smiley is, and
- 39:43Speaker 1: even if they don't see the candy and all that,
- 39:46Speaker 1: they are still getting kind of front row seats to
- 39:50Speaker 1: what's happening. So one of the dudes rightfully is just like,
- 39:55Speaker 1: why are we actually getting to see this anyway? And
- 40:02Speaker 1: Smiley's like acid. I guess that he's made out of
- 40:06Speaker 1: eats away at the wrapper of the candy. So eventually
- 40:10Speaker 1: it's just the candy inside there that is creating this
- 40:13Speaker 1: like chemical reaction. So going back to our friends who
- 40:18Speaker 1: are running, this was very funny to me. Even though
- 40:22Speaker 1: I have, as you all know, had very mixed reactions
- 40:25Speaker 1: to Sanji taking Nami's body, I couldn't help but giggle
- 40:30Speaker 1: at the fact that, like, they're running and they're having
- 40:34Speaker 1: to go as fast as they can for quite a
- 40:36Speaker 1: while here, they're having to keep up a punishing pace,
- 40:40Speaker 1: and eventually they see the dragon up ahead and they're like, well,
- 40:45Speaker 1: if we could just grab that thing, it could help us,
- 40:48Speaker 1: and they aren't able to catch up with it, and
- 40:50Speaker 1: eventually Sanji is like, oh, this is so terrible. I
- 40:56Speaker 1: don't know what to like. I can't keep putting NAMMY's
- 41:00Speaker 1: body through this. I am having trouble breathing. It's in
- 41:06Speaker 1: my chest, well her chest. And then all of a sudden,
- 41:10Speaker 1: he looks down and he just goes boobs and shoots
- 41:14Speaker 1: forward at top speed and manages to catch the dragon.
- 41:19Speaker 1: After all, I actually thought that was a pretty good
- 41:23Speaker 1: joke that like he thought he was going all out,
- 41:25Speaker 1: but actually once he noticed the boobs, that gave him
- 41:29Speaker 1: an additional burst of energy that tracks for me. Meanwhile,
- 41:36Speaker 1: I have to acknowledge this weird thing that happens because
- 41:39Speaker 1: like the sled that the men had been supposed to
- 41:42Speaker 1: take back, the dragon sled, They've left the sled behind
- 41:46Speaker 1: and it's empty except for there's one bag in the
- 41:50Speaker 1: back that has three apples in it. And the camera
- 41:55Speaker 1: kept going back to this bag of apples, and I
- 41:58Speaker 1: kept being like, what is this mean? You know what
- 42:00Speaker 1: I mean? Like I was sort of expecting the apples
- 42:06Speaker 1: are gonna vaporize at some point, and so that is
- 42:09Speaker 1: when we will like realize that the chemical reaction has
- 42:13Speaker 1: fully crossed over taken place, that we are in serious
- 42:17Speaker 1: danger now. And instead we get what I think is
- 42:24Speaker 1: the transformation of at least one of the apples into
- 42:30Speaker 1: a devil fruit. It gets the swirls on it, and
- 42:33Speaker 1: it goes from red to bright blue. And it's the
- 42:40Speaker 1: only one. The other apples don't change. They don't seem
- 42:43Speaker 1: to go to do anything or be really affected. And
- 42:51Speaker 1: then Smiley comes forward. Smiley turns purple. At this point,
- 42:55Speaker 1: this whole time, he has been red with like a
- 42:59Speaker 1: purple sheen sort of. But he finally, as this candy
- 43:05Speaker 1: dissolves inside him, turns fully purple. As you see the
- 43:10Speaker 1: devil fruit become blue. The camera cuts back to Caesar,
- 43:16Speaker 1: who's saying, and now be reborn or rise something like that.
- 43:22Speaker 1: And I couldn't tell if that was related to the
- 43:26Speaker 1: devil fruit change or not. Like, those apples can't have
- 43:30Speaker 1: been there by accident, right, He had to know that
- 43:34Speaker 1: whatever was going on with the chemicals here was going
- 43:37Speaker 1: to create a devil fruit. I'm assuming like that this
- 43:40Speaker 1: was part of his overall experiment, was trying to see
- 43:43Speaker 1: if he could artificially create a devil fruit or else that. Like,
- 43:47Speaker 1: I don't know if I'm supposed to believe that this
- 43:49Speaker 1: sled accidentally had a bag of apples on it, and
- 43:53Speaker 1: that doesn't don't I don't buy it. You know, maybe
- 43:56Speaker 1: that is the thing, But if so, I'm gonna kind
- 43:58Speaker 1: of side eye it a little bit. But a part
- 44:00Speaker 1: of me was like, as Smiley comes forward and begins
- 44:06Speaker 1: to drip over and turn more into an actual gas,
- 44:12Speaker 1: Smiley sort of covers this sled, and I was wondering
- 44:17Speaker 1: if it's meant to be that, like Smiley eats quote
- 44:22Speaker 1: unquote the devil fruit, if this is supposed to be
- 44:28Speaker 1: that this creature is like living enough that it can
- 44:33Speaker 1: make use of a devil fruit power somehow, because we
- 44:38Speaker 1: know that there was like a gun that ate a
- 44:40Speaker 1: devil fruit or something, right like, there was something really
- 44:43Speaker 1: ridiculous in one of the previous seasons arcs, So I
- 44:49Speaker 1: guess it wouldn't be out of the question for Smiley
- 44:51Speaker 1: to be able to utilize a devil fruit. But I
- 44:56Speaker 1: couldn't quite tell if that was what we were doing
- 44:59Speaker 1: here because we don't really go back to that sled.
- 45:02Speaker 1: The fog of this gas is not moving as a
- 45:07Speaker 1: unit the way that Smiley did, where it was like
- 45:09Speaker 1: a single being. It just sort of spreads and is
- 45:13Speaker 1: remaining covering everything that was behind it, so I don't
- 45:17Speaker 1: get to see the sled sitting there by itself, and
- 45:20Speaker 1: whether or not that devil fruit is still in there.
- 45:26Speaker 1: So yeah, this whole thing is I am. Oh, guys,
- 45:31Speaker 1: you know I'm thinking about this devil fruit too, and
- 45:33Speaker 1: like if it isn't on purpose, and if Caesar Clown
- 45:39Speaker 1: doesn't know that the fruit is there, what is gonna
- 45:43Speaker 1: happen to it? Because somebody is gonna want it for sure,
- 45:49Speaker 1: and it's all gonna depend on who sees it first,
- 45:53Speaker 1: if it's still there, if Caesar knows about it, and
- 45:58Speaker 1: also like if I'm asking who would I want to
- 46:02Speaker 1: eat it, it's like a really tough call because the
- 46:07Speaker 1: devil fruit powers aren't necessarily always awesome for combat. So
- 46:12Speaker 1: after having just said that I would love it if
- 46:14Speaker 1: Namy would get to be a badass fighter, my instinct
- 46:18Speaker 1: is to say I would love for nam to eat it.
- 46:21Speaker 1: But then if she wound up with something really lame,
- 46:25Speaker 1: I would be quite irritated about it, because like, obviously
- 46:29Speaker 1: I am going to want her to end up with
- 46:32Speaker 1: something dope and powerful, but you know that's not always
- 46:37Speaker 1: the way it goes, or something that like you could
- 46:39Speaker 1: Finagel as being allegedly powerful, but that was still kind
- 46:42Speaker 1: of a joke. I don't know, I don't know, but anyway,
- 46:45Speaker 1: I'm just real I got my eye on that fruit,
- 46:47Speaker 1: That's all I'm saying. So oh right, we go back
- 46:53Speaker 1: to Oosup and Namy inside Sanji's body, and this is
- 46:58Speaker 1: when they see the uh gas pouring towards them, and
- 47:02Speaker 1: brown Beard picks them up and starts running. I'm just
- 47:06Speaker 1: trying to jump a little bit ahead. Here. We have
- 47:08Speaker 1: all the guys that are turning into stone, and of
- 47:12Speaker 1: course Caesar is so delighted because everything is really going
- 47:16Speaker 1: to plan, and he talks about how the original attack
- 47:19Speaker 1: with the gas, too many people lived through it, like
- 47:22Speaker 1: folks were injured, but they were able to still drag
- 47:25Speaker 1: themselves to find a doctor and eventually get over it.
- 47:29Speaker 1: So he has tried to ensure this time that folks
- 47:32Speaker 1: aren't able to do that, that it's guaranteed death. Meanwhile,
- 47:37Speaker 1: inside we have Chopper, who I had totally forgotten about,
- 47:44Speaker 1: and he is trying to decide what the fuck to
- 47:47Speaker 1: do in this situation. He's like, got this uh sort
- 47:53Speaker 1: of what's the word? I want a little arsenal of
- 47:58Speaker 1: chemicals that he could put together to make some cures. Apparently,
- 48:03Speaker 1: I'm trying to find the spot where he says this,
- 48:06Speaker 1: What do I do? I've got to do something or
- 48:08Speaker 1: he's gonna kill all my friends. But how can I
- 48:11Speaker 1: help with these injuries? I'll only get myself captured, and
- 48:15Speaker 1: if that happens, the drug formula and the sedatives I
- 48:18Speaker 1: found it'll all be for nothing. So he's standing there
- 48:21Speaker 1: trying to decide, and then this like clump of paper.
- 48:28Speaker 1: It almost, at first to me looked like a spitball,
- 48:30Speaker 1: but it's too big for that. It hits him in
- 48:32Speaker 1: the face, and he like ducks and runs off, thinking
- 48:35Speaker 1: somebody saw him. But then he picks it up and
- 48:39Speaker 1: it actually says don't do anything, and he doesn't know
- 48:44Speaker 1: who said sent it, who threw it at him. I
- 48:47Speaker 1: am really really curious about this because it could be
- 48:51Speaker 1: it has to be somebody outside the cage, right who
- 48:54Speaker 1: else is going to have been able to do this?
- 48:57Speaker 1: And the person that I immediately think of is Mom.
- 49:02Speaker 1: I can't help but keep feeling like Monete just doesn't
- 49:05Speaker 1: quite fit in this whole outfit, you know, I just
- 49:10Speaker 1: don't know what to make of her. So I I'm
- 49:12Speaker 1: trying to give her a little bit of grace here,
- 49:17Speaker 1: I don't know. Plus at this point, it's like the
- 49:23Speaker 1: cage with everybody is starting to be lifted up outside,
- 49:26Speaker 1: so I'm not even totally sure if the other straw
- 49:29Speaker 1: Hats are still completely in the room by the time
- 49:32Speaker 1: this hits Chopper. But not just the straw hats either,
- 49:37Speaker 1: also Ta Shigi and Smoker and Law, but the whole
- 49:42Speaker 1: cage gets lifted wholesale outside and that way they can
- 49:49Speaker 1: be in the line of attack with this gas. So
- 49:53Speaker 1: this is the point where Tashigi is looking at the
- 49:57Speaker 1: straw Hats who seem not worth at all, and is
- 50:02Speaker 1: just like, what is going on with you guys? Why
- 50:04Speaker 1: are you so chill? You should be a lot more
- 50:08Speaker 1: worried about this than you seem to be. And we
- 50:12Speaker 1: find out about some of the ways that they are
- 50:15Speaker 1: going to be getting out of this really quickly. The
- 50:17Speaker 1: start of the third of these three episodes, six o
- 50:20Speaker 1: three is when Scratchman a Poo appears again because we
- 50:26Speaker 1: go over to some of the other pirate captains and
- 50:31Speaker 1: check in with Kid and apparently he has called a
- 50:36Speaker 1: summit for some of the others because he wants to
- 50:39Speaker 1: team up, and so we have a few of our
- 50:43Speaker 1: different guys. But Scratchman a Pooh is particularly funny to
- 50:48Speaker 1: me because I don't remember the voice actor being like
- 50:51Speaker 1: this before, and he may have been, and I just forgot,
- 50:54Speaker 1: but he is really giving like two thousand and four
- 50:59Speaker 1: middle school for me, it is hilarious. Like this voice actor,
- 51:05Speaker 1: this character is very, very strange, but you could have
- 51:10Speaker 1: done something sort of more. I don't know, it's just
- 51:15Speaker 1: not it's unexpected, and it actually goes really well with
- 51:19Speaker 1: his overall strangeness. And then yeah, we have Basil Hawkins
- 51:24Speaker 1: over here as well, and this this whole thing like
- 51:29Speaker 1: they seem to believe that they're here for a trap,
- 51:33Speaker 1: but Kid has to explain to them, I'm trying to
- 51:37Speaker 1: team up with you guys. This isn't you know. I'm
- 51:39Speaker 1: not interested in fighting you all. So back to the
- 51:46Speaker 1: straw hats, Law is like, can you set fire to
- 51:52Speaker 1: that Navy ship down there? And Frankie is like, yeah, absolutely,
- 51:56Speaker 1: can just sit back and watch me work. And I
- 52:01Speaker 1: was watching this kind of like thinking, well, how can
- 52:03Speaker 1: he do this with the chains? But then I realized, Frankie,
- 52:06Speaker 1: it's not devil fruit with him so he can still
- 52:09Speaker 1: use his abilities. So he spits a flame out of
- 52:13Speaker 1: his mouth and it just hits that remaining half of
- 52:16Speaker 1: the ship like a fucking falling star, sets it all
- 52:21Speaker 1: on fire, and then there's a bunch of smoke that
- 52:24Speaker 1: covers their cage so that inside Caesar can't see what's
- 52:29Speaker 1: going on with them, and he thinks that it's just
- 52:33Speaker 1: them throwing a tantrum, that they're doing something because they're angry,
- 52:37Speaker 1: but not actually effective, and he says something about like,
- 52:42Speaker 1: I'll put your body to good use in my lab.
- 52:45Speaker 1: So then we have the reveal of how law actually
- 52:52Speaker 1: isn't in seastone chains. He saw the chains in the
- 52:57Speaker 1: lab and recognized that there was some danger because he
- 53:00Speaker 1: didn't trust Caesar to begin with, and so he is
- 53:03Speaker 1: able to get himself out of the ordinary chains that
- 53:06Speaker 1: he replaced the sea stone ones with, and then he
- 53:10Speaker 1: uses room on their little cage. He is able to
- 53:15Speaker 1: summon his weapon back to him and bust all of
- 53:19Speaker 1: their chains open. Plus he moves Smoker and ta Shigi
- 53:25Speaker 1: back into their correct bodies, and of course Tashigi when
- 53:30Speaker 1: she comes back to herself and sees that her like
- 53:33Speaker 1: legs are open and her shirt is open, is like
- 53:36Speaker 1: super embarrassed, and basically she this moment was very annoying
- 53:44Speaker 1: for me. But also I liked the fact that she
- 53:47Speaker 1: yells Smoker because she's asking the pirates for help, and
- 53:51Speaker 1: he's like, where's your pride? And she's like, who the
- 53:53Speaker 1: fuck gives a shit about pride? There are people dying.
- 53:57Speaker 1: If we get killed for our pride, all of our
- 54:01Speaker 1: men are as good as dead. And then she starts
- 54:04Speaker 1: to call Virgo vice admiral, and she stops herself and
- 54:08Speaker 1: she's like, and he'll keep covering up what happens here.
- 54:12Speaker 1: What about the children? We can't leave them, we can't die.
- 54:16Speaker 1: And I really like that she just stands up to
- 54:19Speaker 1: him because Smoker is such a pain in the ass
- 54:23Speaker 1: about so many things and he needed a reality check.
- 54:27Speaker 1: She is correct, and most of what I have seen
- 54:32Speaker 1: from her, she has been a pretty good fighter, but
- 54:35Speaker 1: has seemed kind of ridiculous a lot of the time,
- 54:38Speaker 1: just the way she's being portrayed, And so I appreciated
- 54:41Speaker 1: her getting a moment to be heartfelt and be taken
- 54:46Speaker 1: seriously and be making a good point. Oh also I
- 54:51Speaker 1: should mention that law calls Smoker white hunter, I don't
- 54:55Speaker 1: remember that name. Is that some name somebody else has
- 54:58Speaker 1: used as well? But yeah, let's see. Uh oh right,
- 55:04Speaker 1: and Law is like, yeah, I really need you guys
- 55:06Speaker 1: to ruin Vergo's reputation. Actually that would be great. But
- 55:11Speaker 1: the deal is that I will help you all get
- 55:13Speaker 1: out of here as long as you don't tell anybody
- 55:16Speaker 1: about my connection with Joker and who Joker is. I'm
- 55:21Speaker 1: not just saying like, hey, be cool and don't do that.
- 55:24Speaker 1: I'm saying you agree not to do that, or you
- 55:27Speaker 1: stay fucking here. And finally Smoker agrees, but he is
- 55:32Speaker 1: obviously very very salty about it. So this is the
- 55:38Speaker 1: point where they break the cage open and Loofy just
- 55:42Speaker 1: literally jumps out without asking anybody what the plan is.
- 55:46Speaker 1: And I love when Law is like, hey, he doesn't
- 55:50Speaker 1: know what we're supposed to be doing. Frankie says, well,
- 55:53Speaker 1: then you should have kept him chained up, and I
- 55:55Speaker 1: couldn't help but laugh because it's exactly correct. If you
- 55:58Speaker 1: want him to know what the plan is, keep him
- 56:01Speaker 1: in place. And honestly, that's no guarantee he's going to
- 56:05Speaker 1: do the plan. It's just that he's gonna know about it.
- 56:08Speaker 1: But he'll probably just do what he was gonna do
- 56:10Speaker 1: anyway and completely ignore you. So law buddy, you are
- 56:15Speaker 1: going to need to get used to the fact that
- 56:17Speaker 1: this guy does whatever he fucking wants. So anyway, Frankie
- 56:21Speaker 1: takes off because he wants to check out the Sonny,
- 56:24Speaker 1: which I thought was sort of weird, but okay, sure.
- 56:31Speaker 1: I love to Shigi like fixing her hair and then
- 56:33Speaker 1: looking over at Smoker with this glare and she's got
- 56:37Speaker 1: her like little pink cheeks and her glasses and everything
- 56:39Speaker 1: that was. She almost looked like kind of cheeby. It
- 56:41Speaker 1: was very, very cute. So I'm sorry. I'm running out
- 56:45Speaker 1: of time, so I'm just trying to make sure that
- 56:47Speaker 1: I haven't missed anything. Oh right, we have eventually all
- 56:53Speaker 1: of our friends that are on dragon back and uh,
- 56:56Speaker 1: Brooke gets like flipped off the back of the drag
- 57:00Speaker 1: and is like flying through the air toward the gas
- 57:04Speaker 1: and he gets grabbed I think by brown Beard if
- 57:08Speaker 1: I'm not mistaken. No, he gets grabbed by Oosop right right, right,
- 57:15Speaker 1: So yeah, they all wind up sort of in a
- 57:18Speaker 1: similar place. This dragon is so amazing. I really am
- 57:23Speaker 1: so delighted with this being more of a thing. So
- 57:29Speaker 1: let's see, where's brown Beard. Poor Kui. He's got his
- 57:33Speaker 1: like tail that I think. Does he get bitten? Is
- 57:37Speaker 1: that what it is? He's like running in front of
- 57:40Speaker 1: the dragon. Yeah, the dragon bites him, that's right. And
- 57:43Speaker 1: so brown Beard is just like basically pulling all of
- 57:48Speaker 1: them like a tow truck. And I love that When
- 57:53Speaker 1: I think it's Ousop who says something like, you're useful
- 57:55Speaker 1: after all, maybe it's not as up, I feel like
- 57:57Speaker 1: you wouldn't say that, but brown Beard just says, you
- 58:01Speaker 1: people are the worst. I just love that line. It
- 58:05Speaker 1: is so funny to me, you people are the worst.
- 58:07Speaker 1: It feels like such a like regular, real person thing
- 58:10Speaker 1: to say. We go to a bunch of the dudes
- 58:14Speaker 1: who were trying to cut their way into the lab,
- 58:18Speaker 1: and eventually one of the doors begins to open the
- 58:22Speaker 1: shutter and they're all like, yeah, this is amazing where
- 58:27Speaker 1: they finally managed to get it open, and the subordinates
- 58:31Speaker 1: are like running out trying to find out who the
- 58:33Speaker 1: hell ruined everything and opened this door, and one of
- 58:39Speaker 1: them is like up there and we see our friends
- 58:42Speaker 1: and they are the ones fucking the world up. We
- 58:46Speaker 1: also have brown Beard who like cuts his way in
- 58:49Speaker 1: on another side and everybody is like, that is so cool.
- 58:53Speaker 1: But also now there's just a hole in the side
- 58:56Speaker 1: and that gas is still out there, so that's not awesome.
- 59:00Speaker 1: You know, that's going to be a problem for us, right,
- 59:03Speaker 1: but you know we'll deal with that later. First, get inside. Secondly,
- 59:09Speaker 1: deal with poison gas. Yeah, I get it. So that
- 59:13Speaker 1: is the end of the episode. But yeah, these three
- 59:15Speaker 1: were fun. I really enjoyed these a lot. So okay, guys,
- 59:19Speaker 1: I am going to wrap this one up. Thank you
- 59:20Speaker 1: again so much for listening. For commissioning Florian Hope, y'all
- 59:26Speaker 1: are enjoying, and until next time to the lou Motherfuckers,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: an Unspoiled Network podcast.
