- 0:00Speaker 1: Then now the Guardian Angel of talk radio is here.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Curtis Leewah guest host the Mark Simone Show on seven
- 0:09Speaker 1: tenor oh god, it's crucinating music hit you know, since
- 0:20Speaker 1: this is my final hour substitution for Mark Simon. By
- 0:24Speaker 1: the way, smooth operator, Mark Simone, based on what I
- 0:28Speaker 1: last said as we went out on the top of
- 0:30Speaker 1: the hour, when you go and talk radio from doing
- 0:34Speaker 1: talk TV to talk radio, you're always a disaster. But
- 0:38Speaker 1: if you go from talk radio to do TV, your success.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Look at Mark Simone. He made the transition and the
- 0:45Speaker 1: rock rabbed all American Conservative voice sub region from Franklin Square,
- 0:48Speaker 1: Long Island, Sean Hannity Radio first and TV. It's different.
- 0:54Speaker 1: It's totally different. And you don't hear many talk show hostesses.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Now if in this season of You, you must refer
- 1:05Speaker 1: to me as I identify myself today, he is he?
- 1:09Speaker 1: So I could be a he she? They right, Let's
- 1:12Speaker 1: just say I felt like a woman today and I
- 1:14Speaker 1: was a female hostess talk show. Why would I want
- 1:17Speaker 1: to sound like all the guys? Why would I want
- 1:21Speaker 1: to sound like an echo chamber of all the guys
- 1:23Speaker 1: reading from the same talking points? You would need to
- 1:26Speaker 1: break out a tribute to one of the greatest of
- 1:30Speaker 1: all time, Lynn Samuels, Oh eclectic as she was WABC
- 1:36Speaker 1: WBAI also the producer and phone screener for Matt Drudge,
- 1:41Speaker 1: another great talk show host who was driven out of
- 1:44Speaker 1: the business at WABC because he just wanted to do
- 1:46Speaker 1: Sunday nights. Did a great job. Oh no, you gotta
- 1:49Speaker 1: do five days a week. Guess what he didn't want
- 1:53Speaker 1: to do that They try to make him do it wrong.
- 1:58Speaker 1: They lost a great talk show hosts ship. Who has
- 2:01Speaker 1: h it come a bit of an enigma of late,
- 2:04Speaker 1: But I don't even put that aside. Great talk to
- 2:06Speaker 1: your hosts. And that's how Mark Levin got his break
- 2:10Speaker 1: to be on five days a week because that was
- 2:12Speaker 1: gonna be the five days for Matt Drudge. But Lynn
- 2:16Speaker 1: Samuels was eclectic. Remember a theme song too, beg you
- 2:20Speaker 1: didn't come in with that fat bottom girls by Queen
- 2:24Speaker 1: I remember that. I mean she lived there off the
- 2:27Speaker 1: number seven training I think was which side of Sunnyside
- 2:30Speaker 1: she'd come in. She'd be commenting on everything. She leaned left,
- 2:35Speaker 1: but wasn't predictable. You see, that was the interesting thing
- 2:40Speaker 1: about listening to Lynn Samuels that you couldn't predict where
- 2:44Speaker 1: she would be on any issue. It made you wanna
- 2:47Speaker 1: listen every day and listen more and more as opposed
- 2:52Speaker 1: to again, if I listened to a show, I look,
- 2:56Speaker 1: I know what they're all gonna say, right, you know
- 2:58Speaker 1: what they're gonna say. What they say today, they're gonna
- 3:00Speaker 1: say next week, the following week. So whatever's on the
- 3:03Speaker 1: talking parts they watched our TV, they repeat what they
- 3:07Speaker 1: on Fox News Channel mon on. But anyway, I had
- 3:10Speaker 1: to do that tribute. I don't take for granted this
- 3:14Speaker 1: thing of ours. A lot of people have come before
- 3:16Speaker 1: all of us in order to pave the way for
- 3:20Speaker 1: talk radio, and our job should be with everything out
- 3:24Speaker 1: there that competes with talk radio now is to keep
- 3:27Speaker 1: this thing of ours alive. And I've been charged with
- 3:29Speaker 1: that mission by my wife. So you gotta stay tuned
- 3:31Speaker 1: and see what's gonna be happening. Also going to be
- 3:35Speaker 1: talking about how this Valentine's Day for the first time ever,
- 3:39Speaker 1: Yes he is. He Guys and gals preferred to go
- 3:43Speaker 1: to AI dating cafes and celebrate Valentine's Day with their
- 3:49Speaker 1: favorite their computer with artificial intelligence. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it
- 3:54Speaker 1: even dominated that holiday. And of course we now must
- 3:59Speaker 1: talk about the man who beat me Farren Square to
- 4:02Speaker 1: become mayor, and beat Eric Adams, who wasn't man enough
- 4:05Speaker 1: to run in a Democratic primary or as an independent.
- 4:10Speaker 1: He decided to take the money and run and drop out.
- 4:13Speaker 1: And of course Andrew eviliesquormack zorn my Dami And you know,
- 4:20Speaker 1: it's hard to paint him down on a lot of things,
- 4:23Speaker 1: but the hardest is what his theme song is now.
- 4:26Speaker 1: I remember during the campaign he enjoyed singing waving through
- 4:30Speaker 1: the window from dear Evan Hansen, you know that song. Izzy.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Of course you don't hey later for that. And then
- 4:39Speaker 1: he said, oh to Donna, you know I listened to
- 4:44Speaker 1: Jennifer Lopez, you know, typical politician. He wanted to pay
- 4:48Speaker 1: props to everybody for me. It was straight up chain smokers.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Don't let me down because a lot of people did.
- 4:55Speaker 1: They didn't vote for me. And then bunt a German
- 4:59Speaker 1: edm band And today is the greatest day in my life.
- 5:03Speaker 1: It is every day that I wake up. It should
- 5:05Speaker 1: be for all of you, even though it's facing You
- 5:07Speaker 1: could be a curmudgeon, it could be great clouds over
- 5:09Speaker 1: your head. Everything is not going right. Just to be alive.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I have so much to be grateful for, so much
- 5:16Speaker 1: as you know, any of you who know my history,
- 5:18Speaker 1: And if you don't, all you gotta do is go
- 5:20Speaker 1: on all the social networking at Facebook and Instagram, at Twitter,
- 5:27Speaker 1: x your TikTok. I love that every time I hear
- 5:31Speaker 1: Andrew Evilize cools your run one because the TikTok. No,
- 5:35Speaker 1: he didn't you jerk, It's because he out hustled you.
- 5:40Speaker 1: But anyway, when it comes to musical selection, he's like
- 5:43Speaker 1: a typical politician. He wants to satisfy everybody. Later on,
- 5:47Speaker 1: we're gonna talk about Kurt Cobaine's death. You know, the
- 5:51Speaker 1: age of grunge rock now, how they're reinvestigating that. They
- 5:56Speaker 1: never thought it was suicide. Never did think Fortney Love.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Oh well, hold on, you don't want to go anywhere.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Think puddle of mud? Huh puddle? Did you ever listen
- 6:07Speaker 1: to puddle of mud? My wife actually introduced that to
- 6:10Speaker 1: me just the other day. Great ben never had heard
- 6:13Speaker 1: of them. You see, every day you learn things. Your
- 6:17Speaker 1: curiosity should be there. Lincoln Park, the suicide at Chester Bennington,
- 6:24Speaker 1: he was absolutely spectacular. Three Doors down the death of
- 6:28Speaker 1: Brad Arnold from cancer, kidney cancer at forty seven. That's
- 6:33Speaker 1: why today is the best day of your life. Look
- 6:37Speaker 1: how many of them are no longer with us, with
- 6:39Speaker 1: all the fame, with all the fortune, with everything breaking
- 6:42Speaker 1: their way, and things happen in life. Let's be happy
- 6:48Speaker 1: you're alive. I know for some of you you said
- 6:51Speaker 1: I'd rather be dead. Well for some of you, that's
- 6:55Speaker 1: because zarn Mandami is the mayor of the City of
- 6:58Speaker 1: New York. What is he yet? Like forty six forty
- 7:00Speaker 1: seven days since he was sworn in. There's a number
- 7:04Speaker 1: one problem with Zoramandami because nobody knows the streets and
- 7:07Speaker 1: the subways better than me. Collectively. You could have put
- 7:10Speaker 1: Eric Adams Andrew Cormo's Armandami up on any stage, and
- 7:15Speaker 1: if we did New York City Jeopardy, you know who
- 7:18Speaker 1: would have won that game? That would have been me overwhelming.
- 7:20Speaker 1: They don't really know the city. Joran is on a
- 7:24Speaker 1: learning curve. He got hit with this super spectacular cold
- 7:29Speaker 1: snap where the snow turned into ice. It's been three
- 7:32Speaker 1: weeks and the snow and the ice is still out there.
- 7:35Speaker 1: How do we know because it's turned yellow because all
- 7:38Speaker 1: the canines in the world have decided to mark their
- 7:42Speaker 1: spots on the snow and the ice that still exists.
- 7:46Speaker 1: But what I want to talk about, specifically with Zarahmandami
- 7:50Speaker 1: is the horror of what I've experienced, and that is
- 7:56Speaker 1: the homeless and the emotionally disturbed who in many instances
- 8:02Speaker 1: were not cared for in this Code blue situation where
- 8:06Speaker 1: they should have been involuntarily hospitalized, taken off the streets,
- 8:09Speaker 1: brought to a hospital, or brought to a shelter. And
- 8:12Speaker 1: by the way, nobody knows more about the shelters than me.
- 8:15Speaker 1: I've been in about two thirds in them, especially imagine
- 8:18Speaker 1: dizzy is is he? There are shelters that are called
- 8:21Speaker 1: MICA shelters for the mentally ill and chemically addicted. Now,
- 8:25Speaker 1: if you're mentally ill, you think a shelter is the
- 8:28Speaker 1: place you should be, or maybe a mental health care hospital.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Hunt because that's like one flew over the cuckoo's nest.
- 8:36Speaker 1: That's Darwinian. It's survival of the fittest. If you've ever
- 8:39Speaker 1: been in the shelters, the worst for the single males,
- 8:42Speaker 1: the single females. Family run shelters generally much better run
- 8:47Speaker 1: and there are a few shelters where you're allowed to
- 8:49Speaker 1: bring your pet in. That's good, But the vast majority
- 8:53Speaker 1: of them, it's chaos. So when I deal with homeless
- 8:57Speaker 1: people and emotionally disturb people who I've known fear and
- 9:00Speaker 1: by the way, they didn't just all emerge now because
- 9:02Speaker 1: of this cold and ice snap and the Arctic weather.
- 9:06Speaker 1: They've been out there all along. Doblasio did nothing about him.
- 9:09Speaker 1: It was heightened during the lockdown and pandemic. Eric Adams
- 9:13Speaker 1: did nothing about the enemy. You spent seven billion dollars
- 9:15Speaker 1: of all money on migrants, people we didn't even know.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Put them in hotels, right, three squares a day. Write
- 9:22Speaker 1: your ticket for the homeless and emotionally disturbed, who are
- 9:26Speaker 1: for the most part are Americans, fellow Americans, and yes, Dizzy,
- 9:30Speaker 1: the predominant number of them are African Americans. So you
- 9:33Speaker 1: would have thought somebody like Eric Adams would have said, hey,
- 9:35Speaker 1: you got to take care of my brothers. Insists not I. Also,
- 9:39Speaker 1: all these elected officials, they are all into hey, you know, equity, equity, Well,
- 9:44Speaker 1: how come you don't take how come you don't take
- 9:46Speaker 1: care of the predominantly black population of homeless and emotionally disturbed,
- 9:53Speaker 1: many of whom I know on a first name basis.
- 9:57Speaker 1: It is bad out there. Ron Stubborn just refused to
- 10:05Speaker 1: remove them involuntarily, which was the right thing to do,
- 10:08Speaker 1: the right thing to do. You were saying, well, they
- 10:11Speaker 1: got drop in centers, they finally put out warming buses.
- 10:15Speaker 1: But he doesn't understand the nature of the population. A
- 10:18Speaker 1: lot of them are wanderers. They don't want to go
- 10:20Speaker 1: to shelter. They certainly don't want to go to a
- 10:23Speaker 1: mental health care hospital. That's why they have to be
- 10:26Speaker 1: involuntarily committed. People who were deemed to be a danger
- 10:31Speaker 1: to themselves and everyone else. So I was out there
- 10:34Speaker 1: with the Guardian Angels still am every day, every night,
- 10:37Speaker 1: and giving them badly needed supplies. You know those sort
- 10:41Speaker 1: of like aluminum foil blankets that you get when you
- 10:45Speaker 1: finish the New York City Marathon, giving that to them
- 10:47Speaker 1: to sort of water off the cold protein bars. Water.
- 10:51Speaker 1: They need water because they dehydrate, and when they dehydrate,
- 10:55Speaker 1: if they have any kind of psychosis or their bipolar disorder,
- 11:01Speaker 1: or if they're off their medication, whatever it is that
- 11:05Speaker 1: is mentally ailing them has just enhanced all that more gloves,
- 11:10Speaker 1: socks hats, sock hats we distribute them and the handwarmers
- 11:17Speaker 1: very important. Now we're just a volunteer organization. You can
- 11:21Speaker 1: see what we do. You just go to Guardian Angels.
- 11:23Speaker 1: You can see all the social networking what we've done.
- 11:27Speaker 1: When it got most extreme, I would say about seven
- 11:33Speaker 1: days ago, I now began to run into homeless people
- 11:37Speaker 1: who were without shoes, both in the streets, the parks,
- 11:41Speaker 1: in the subways and sub zero freezing weather. I thought, well,
- 11:45Speaker 1: maybe one person, quite a few of them, and I'd
- 11:49Speaker 1: have a conversation with them, because I know quite a
- 11:51Speaker 1: few of them by first name. They've been They've been
- 11:53Speaker 1: out in the streets and the subways for years. Nobody's
- 11:55Speaker 1: done anything for them. Hey, Charlie, what happened into your shoes? Well,
- 12:02Speaker 1: you know Curtis here on the subway. I kept the
- 12:04Speaker 1: shoes close to me and the stugs came up to me.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Are the homeless people, and they stole my shoes. Hmm,
- 12:12Speaker 1: stole your shoes sounds like jail. Sounds like what goes
- 12:16Speaker 1: on in the shelter Darwinian Survival of the Fitters. Another guy,
- 12:21Speaker 1: he was missing half a foot. It was exposed that
- 12:24Speaker 1: came from diabetes many years ago. They had to remove
- 12:27Speaker 1: half his foot. He had a special shoe made, and
- 12:31Speaker 1: then for his other foot, the regular shoe. They stole
- 12:34Speaker 1: both those shoes and I posted all of this, and
- 12:37Speaker 1: then they did it to a woman too. It was
- 12:41Speaker 1: survival of the fittish Darwinian. The mayor his staff had
- 12:45Speaker 1: no idea what was going on. Part of the problem
- 12:47Speaker 1: was he inherited a lot of Eric Adams holdovers who
- 12:50Speaker 1: did nothing but sabotage his efforts. I mean, that's been
- 12:53Speaker 1: Eric adams whole goal, sabotage the incoming mayor in terms
- 12:59Speaker 1: of his learning curve. But he's not a street guy.
- 13:02Speaker 1: He's not a subway guy, and that was obvious. So
- 13:06Speaker 1: we will continue to help those who cannot help themselves,
- 13:11Speaker 1: the forgotten people of New York City. Remember, the mass
- 13:15Speaker 1: majority of them are American citizens. The mass majority of
- 13:19Speaker 1: them are African Americans, and many of them are women.
- 13:24Speaker 1: And they live in the subways, they live in the parks,
- 13:27Speaker 1: and they live in the streets. That's their home. And
- 13:32Speaker 1: it's been that way with the Blasio Eric Adams and
- 13:36Speaker 1: now at the start of Zaran Mandami's run, as Mayor.
- 13:41Speaker 1: And by the way, I love this so well. You
- 13:42Speaker 1: know the buses in the Free York Zoe run said
- 13:45Speaker 1: the buses would be free. Hey, idiots, any of you
- 13:48Speaker 1: who are gone to line up for a bus like
- 13:50Speaker 1: I did the other day at the junction So I
- 13:53Speaker 1: was going down to the El Caribe, so I had
- 13:55Speaker 1: to take the Flatbush Avenue bus. You know when No
- 13:57Speaker 1: Straight Avenue meets flat Bush. First off, the lines go
- 14:00Speaker 1: forever as you get out of the number three train
- 14:04Speaker 1: and nobody pays the fair nobody. They're all just bum
- 14:07Speaker 1: rush on the bus. And that's to a main street Flushing.
- 14:10Speaker 1: I posted that busses back to bed Nobody pays Webster
- 14:14Speaker 1: Avenue of the bux nobody pays Highland Boulevard and set
- 14:17Speaker 1: nobody pays. Nobody's paying the bus fare. They say that
- 14:22Speaker 1: half the bus fares are paid. That's a lie. Just
- 14:26Speaker 1: ask the bus drivers, Hey, when's the last time anybody
- 14:30Speaker 1: paid the fare? And they have to stop and think
- 14:35Speaker 1: our numbers because it is your time to be heard
- 14:37Speaker 1: here at WABC one eight hundred three two one zero WR.
- 14:44Speaker 1: That's one eight hundred three two one zero seven ten.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Me make sure I get that straight. One eight hundred
- 14:51Speaker 1: three two one zero seven ten, because my goal is
- 14:55Speaker 1: to save to our radio and get it back to
- 14:58Speaker 1: it's an original form, which is taking callers, new callers,
- 15:03Speaker 1: not the same old fuddy duddy callers that you hear
- 15:06Speaker 1: every day, and it's predictable what they're gonna say. I
- 15:10Speaker 1: love you, you love me. It's like an episode of
- 15:12Speaker 1: Barney and make it stimulating again. It all started right here.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Wr Barry Gray nineteen forty five took a call from
- 15:21Speaker 1: Woody Herman after playing stacks of wax of Woody Herman's
- 15:24Speaker 1: great band Classics, and then the suit said you should
- 15:27Speaker 1: take calls from listeners. That's how this thing of art started.
- 15:34Speaker 1: And honor of Barry Gray, who began what we now
- 15:37Speaker 1: call talk radio, which for some has become many podcasts
- 15:41Speaker 1: because they never take callers. Never do one eight hundred
- 15:45Speaker 1: three two one zero seven to ten. By the way,
- 15:48Speaker 1: up next, Valentine's Day with AI has become increasingly more popular.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Why do it with someone you know when you can
- 15:58Speaker 1: do it with artificial intelligens who will stroke you to
- 16:01Speaker 1: the ends of time.
