It's still emited. We welcome everybody. Welcome to this week's edition The Star
0:21
Realta Show. Episomber seven forty one for April twenty fifth, twenty twenty four.
0:27
Welcome to your aw Dynasty recap and review edition of ass rt You.
0:35
I am one alf of the show. I am Jeff Peck joined. Typically
0:39
every single week my cost you want to lead, Doctor Troy Franklin, Doctor
0:43
Trey is unfortunately not here this week. My friends, doctor Trey getting tied
0:49
up with his nine to five or the thing that pays the bills. Unfortunately
0:53
that is not SRTU. We all wish it was. If you'd like to
0:58
help make that happen us know at sort to you podcast on Twitter. So
1:02
this is one of the rare occurrences of the year where it's a solo show.
1:06
I always kind of make fun of this one because it's like what I
1:11
grew up on in the Northeast WFAN sports radio, where Mike Francesa would just
1:15
talk into the microphone by himself for four to five hours of the day after
1:21
Matt dog Russo left him, shared his thoughts, took some calls. The
1:25
only difference here is I'm not taking calls. Unfortunately, it's just strictly my
1:30
thoughts, which is, you know, I'm gonna miss my man, doctor
1:34
Trey Franklin. I wish he was here talking to me W Dynasty, talking
1:38
to we draft. But we will move forward here without the very own doctor
1:44
Trey Franklin here. So we will recap review AW Dynasty. We will take
1:48
a look at W's draft that is beginning Friday night and carrying over to Monday.
1:53
What we would like to see or what I would like to see I
1:56
should say coming up here with the twenty twenty four we draft and more,
2:00
we'll try to make the best of it here. When it's the solo shows,
2:04
they're not the easiest ones to do in the world, but for everybody
2:07
that downloads this podcast each and every week, I will certainly do my best
2:12
to make sure my voice isn't give out and at some point, uh,
2:15
you know, I just keep it moving, I guess as best I can
2:19
without like losing my voice here and wanting to take a breath while getting really
2:23
excited talking about professional wrestling. So, beginning with AW Dynasty recap interview,
2:30
we started when it was the restum A forty recap where kind of just ran
2:36
through the card the results and just gave some thoughts about the entire card.
2:42
So I will start here with the pre show matches, that being Trent Bretta
2:50
defeating Matt Siddell, Orange Casside defeating katzi Ori Shabata excuse me, Orange Casting,
2:57
and catsi Ori Shabada defeating Shane Taylor and Lee Morio already a Bullet Club
3:00
Gold defeating the Acclaim to win the AW Trios titles and retaining their ROH Trios
3:09
six Man titles to unify the Trios Championships. Those all took place on the
3:16
pre show. The main card, you Kaziko Okada defeating Pak to retain the
3:21
AW Continental Championship. You had the House of Black defeating Adam Copeland, Eddie
3:27
Kingson, and Mark Prisco in a trios match. Will A Knightingale defeats Julia
3:31
Hart and a House Rules match to win the AWTBS Championship. Roger Strong defeats
3:36
Kyle O'Reilly to retain an AW International Championship. Chris Jericho defeats Hook in an
3:39
FTW rules match to win the FTW Championship. Timeless Tony Storm defeats Thunder Rosa
3:46
retaining AW Women's World Championship, Will Osprey defeats Brian Danielson, The Young Bucks
3:52
defeat FTR in a ladder match to win the vacant AW World Tag Team Championship,
3:55
and Swerve Strickland defeats Samojo to win the A World Championship. Doctor Trey
4:02
and I both went ten and zero at this pay per view, which,
4:06
well, it was an easy, predictable pay per view, but still really
4:13
fun night. Overall, myvent rating in my match the night, I gave
4:16
AW Dynasty a four point zero out of five and my match to night was
4:21
Will Osprey and Brian Danielson. We have to get Doctor Trey's thoughts on AW
4:29
Dynasty on next week's edition of SRTU. So some matches and moments that I
4:33
wanted to discuss here. So I watched AW Dynasty the next day, and
4:42
by the time I sat down and watched it, all the results had been
4:45
spoiled. At that point. To me, I mean, you can't go
4:47
on like social media now and not see the results. So one of the
4:53
things that I saw was people absolutely shitting all over the hook Christierico match,
5:00
and I was really intrigued to check this out. The build for the feud
5:04
itself wasn't the best. The match, you know, the build for the
5:09
match wasn't the best. The feud has been kind of okay. And I
5:12
said on the last week's edition the podcast without t Trim, like, I
5:15
think Jericho is doing this purposely, and we got confirmation obviously in this past
5:19
week's edition done to that is the case. The Learning Tree edition of Chris
5:23
Jericho is so corny and so bad that it may really be good playing out
5:30
on our television. So I watched this match. Everybody's crapping on it,
5:34
and I thought it was fine for what it was. It told a story
5:38
and it helped elevate Hook na Loss. I was completely dumbfounded that people were
5:45
like losing their mind online that this match was awful, terrible, it was
5:48
time for Jericho to retire. I think they were chanting that during the match.
5:53
I was pleasantly surprised. People aren't gonna like to hear me say this,
5:58
But it was like a WWE styled match taking place on the aw card,
6:01
and the purpose of that was a little bit of character development involved with
6:04
Hook and Chris Jericho and putting over a guy in a losing effort, and
6:10
that's what they accomplished with Hook. I think hooks build and rise to superstardom
6:16
in aw is very important and especially viable for his growth as a character as
6:21
a wrestler as he moves forward. And I think this was really the first
6:25
time that we saw that actually take place with Hook, So I was totally
6:29
fine with what it was. If there was anything I would want to change
6:31
with Hook, it's a presentation of that bat signal that takes place every single
6:34
time he comes out of the ring, comes down to the ring. You
6:38
got Tony Sivanni going it's Hook, you know it's It's like, that's really
6:44
corny, and I don't think that's a joke. Chris Jericho during the Learning
6:46
Tree. Stuff is corny purposely and it's damn good. Number two Will Ospray
6:55
Brian Danielson. It was amazing, right, I mean that's what we all
7:00
kind of expected. Dare I say two things that I wish were different here?
7:08
A right? Well, one of them is of all the match,
7:10
and then the other one is is kind of like a bold take here probably
7:15
not popular. I thought the match with Kenoski Tekeushka was from Revolution the month
7:19
prior was better than the one with Brian Danielson. And that's like picking one
7:25
A and one B between one another, because the Ospbury matches in AW since
7:30
becoming a full fledged member of the roster have been phenomenal. I thought that
7:33
Takesha one was really good and I thought it was a step below Danielson,
7:39
and I think the reason for that is because I expected Well Lost Bray and
7:44
Brian Danielson to put on a hell of a show on Sunday Night at AW
7:47
Dynasty. So I don't know what else could exceed my expectations from that one.
7:54
While the match with Kenoski Takeushka I was excited for, but it didn't
7:57
obviously have the same like excitement level that I had for Ospray and Danielson taking
8:03
place, being that it was a dream match. In regards to the match
8:05
itself, I loved everything about the match. I think it's a match that
8:09
we all talk about in regards to match of the year conversations at the year
8:13
end. But I did not like the injury angle at the end. I
8:20
thought that negatively affected the match. I didn't think it was necessary. I
8:24
get and I'm the guy that's always like character development, storyline development, blah
8:28
blah blah blah. I wish there was a little bit more entertainment value with
8:31
aw They focus so much on in rings blah blah blah blah blah. But
8:35
I feel like in a match that we all expected would be an amazing performance,
8:41
I don't think that they should have executed an injury angle to take place
8:43
at the end of the match while the match was still ongoing. What I
8:48
think would have been really good. And I hate to say this because I
8:50
never truly like when wrestling does this, especially with the wrestlers that you're as
8:56
a wrestling fan, actually concerned about their well being and health nearly every time
9:00
they step in the ring, which is you know, Daniel Brian, Brian
9:03
Danielson checks all those boxes right now. So what I would have done?
9:07
Hit the Tiger Driver ninety one, hit in blade, he's showing a little
9:11
bit affects Brian Danielson one two, three, They celebrate Danielson, you know,
9:16
goes to lift up oss Bray's hand and has that Sean Michaels owen Hart
9:20
nineteen ninety five in Siguri moment where maybe he grabs his head, goes down
9:24
to a knee a little bit, doesn't have to be a dramatic like Sean
9:28
Michaels, does not necessarily need to be does not need to be taken out,
9:31
not necessarily, not at all, does not need to be taken out
9:35
on a structure like we've seen with Sean Michaels, and share the injury angle
9:41
postmatch that way, I think when you put the injury angle in the midst
9:45
of the match itself, especially for the finis, it does take away a
9:48
little bit from it. Let's have the match front to back, be amazing
9:52
and then afterwards execute your injury angle. So I felt like it negatively affected
9:58
it, you know, like maybe five percent of the match, but enough
10:01
where when I thought about it, compared with the Kenoski to Kashka one,
10:05
I felt like the one with Kenoski was better from Revolution. And I don't
10:09
think that is going to be opinion that a lot of people are going to
10:11
say third thing from the show, and this is going to bleed into some
10:18
of the stuff that we saw from Dynamite on Wednesday night. So Jack Perry
10:20
is back in aw helps the Young Bucks win the tag team Championship, and
10:26
I talked about this angle on a podcast, the Bragman Breakdown, that we'll
10:31
put up on all of our social media channels. Earlier today with Jackson Bragman.
10:37
I've been on his show before, a great kid. Really enjoyed the
10:39
interview and you know, all encompassing. Now, we talked about from the
10:46
all out footage segment of the air on Dynamite two weeks ago, what took
10:50
place on at Dynasty. Then obviously what took place on on Dynamite. I
10:56
would have just ran an angle where Jack Perry makes a surprise appearance and costs
11:03
FTR of the match and helps the Young Bucks leave a little bit of question
11:07
marks in there. Don't don't tease the scapegoat, don't tease Jack Perry,
11:11
any of this stuff leading into the pay per view, because we all expected
11:13
that this was going to take place, that Jack Perry was going to show
11:16
up cost them the match. The reports were out there that he was wrapping
11:18
up with New Japan Pro Wrestling, and I wanted done it that way.
11:22
People love a good surprise angle. I think that would have been This was
11:26
an angle we all expected, you know, that way, he interferes and
11:30
then you tease on Dynamite like, is Jack Perry aligned with the elite?
11:35
What is the elite tied up with Jack Perry? And maybe you start the
11:39
show up with Nicholas and Matthew Jackson going into Tony Khan's office talking with Tony
11:45
Kahan, telling them that they had nothing to do with this entire situation.
11:50
Maybe Tony Khan says something where, well, I've got some correspondence from Jack
11:54
He texted me and said he wants to meet in the ring tonight. Should
11:56
I let him in the arena? Should I take this? And the young
11:58
Bucks are like, yeah, you know, I think it's worth talking to
12:01
him. I think there's some stuff that needs to be aired, some grievances,
12:05
and we need to mend some fences and move forward. And I think
12:09
that would have been a really creative way to execute the Angle on Dynamite.
12:13
The Angle on Dynamite this past Wednesday, where they take out Tony Kahan,
12:16
I think was long overdue for AW. I think it's something that fans wanted
12:18
to see happen. I know Tony Kahan did not want to be involved physically
12:22
in any type of wrestling angles, because he's come out and said that in
12:26
interviews. But I think this is what fans expected at some point, and
12:30
I think it's really too short ordered right now to sit there and say,
12:33
what's the longevity of this angle. I saw people saying that it was like
12:37
the nWo angle for AW and this could, you know, recharge the brand
12:41
and everything like that, and I want to get away from the nWo part.
12:46
But what I will say on the second part of that is I do
12:48
believe an angle like this can recharge the brand and get people excited and wanting
12:52
to tune in each and every week. Because me as a fan, I
12:56
want to tune into Collision. I want to tune into Rampage. I want
12:58
to tune into next week's Ynamite when Kenny Omega returns. I want to see
13:01
more about this angle. As an NFL fan, I want to see Tony
13:07
Khan wearing the neck brace, and by the time this podcast has dropped,
13:09
it probably he probably is wearing the neck brace on the NFL Draft Special.
13:13
People are going to be talking about that, and that's going to put new
13:16
eyes and a buzz around the AW product. That probably showcase the angle either
13:20
on ESPN or NFL Network on Thursday or Friday or Saturday during the NFL Draft
13:24
when a lot of people are watching, people who aren't necessarily wresting fans,
13:28
and they want to check out AW and see what this aw is all about.
13:31
They've heard about the Jaguars ownership being involved, but like, what exactly
13:33
is this all about? So that's how I kind of would have gone about
13:39
things. I think the angle was executed very well. We saw it play
13:43
out. I think a couple of negatives on the entire thing is why would
13:46
the roster come out after the fact that Tony Khan got laid out and the
13:50
elite you know, exited through the main entrance way that everybody you know,
13:56
came out thirty seconds later of to check on Tony Khan? Like where everybody
14:00
in the locker room when that was going on? Because I was like a
14:01
good five minutes, you know, I would have had the roster come out
14:07
as the injury the angle was taking place, and then let the elite run
14:11
through the crowd and people are like flipping out or explaining a little bit more
14:16
maybe on the commentary side, like the reason why the roster didn't come out
14:20
right away is because they don't know what to do. Because the young bucks
14:22
are just as equally their bosses, as Tony Kahan is as the owner and
14:26
founder of All Lade Wrestling. So you can't knock AW, will you,
14:33
everybody? You can't just knock AW for being boring or lacking creative, and
14:37
then when they try something creative completely knock it. There's always going to be
14:41
tweaks as a wrestling phantom, and how I would like to see it executed.
14:46
Overall, the angle from Dynasty that was then carried over to Dynamite I
14:50
thought was well done, and more importantly, it's showing that AW was trying
14:54
to be entertaining, get a little bit outside of their comfort zone, outside
14:58
of their box, and have an angle that has people talking, because I
15:01
think that is something we have desperately wanted to see out of AW for quite
15:05
some time. In all honesty, again, how we get there is left
15:11
up to the viewer and the beholder, because obviously I'm poking some holes into
15:15
it, but I don't want to lose sight of the fact that I think
15:18
what AW has executed over the last couple of days was the right course of
15:22
action for some entertainment, get some eyeballs on the brand and make fans like
15:26
me want to tune into Collision and Rampage and see how the rest of this
15:28
plays out, or tune into Dynamite next week or this week when Kenny Omega
15:31
returns to see how he responds to everything going on with the Elite. Also
15:37
from aw Dynasty, I'm very happy and it's long overdue for Strickling. We
15:41
crown the aw World Champion, doing so in dominating fashion over Samoa Joe.
15:46
I mean, go back and watch that match. I don't know if there
15:48
was a time crunch. I always feel like at the end of their AWO
15:50
pay per views that there is because the maiden Event matches typically unless they go
15:54
out of their way like they did with the Revolution to make sure staying Darby
15:58
and the Young Bucks out a lot of time feels at times to be a
16:00
little bit rushed. Go back to World's End with samo Joe and MJF and
16:03
I felt the same thing. And I thought this match was a little bit
16:06
similar to that where the challenger who later became the Champion dominated the champion in
16:11
a fashion that I did not see coming, where it was not as a
16:14
competitive match as you would have thought. With that being said, we talked
16:18
about on last week's show, Like if they didn't execute with Short Strickland becoming
16:22
the world champion, when exactly would AW have done it? I mean,
16:26
they really backed themselves into a corner. If they left Dynasty and Simojo was
16:30
sold champion Strickland loss unless they ran some sort of angle, I think you're
16:33
taking a lot of win out of the sales. This move should have happened
16:37
months ago. I think you could have made a case that Swert Strickland should
16:40
have been the champion following MJF even but at that point I think they were
16:45
too far invested into the other stuff with Samojo and MGF to really do that
16:48
sort. Strickland has been one of their hottest stars. I do think he
16:52
has cooled off some, but this opportunity putting the championship on him can definitely
16:56
help raise that meter a little bit more in the popularity of Swarp Strickland now
17:02
as AW World Champion. With that said, I'm thinking, you know,
17:07
short term here a little bit long term. I think all in Wembley this
17:11
year, I always have felt like would be an opportunity for will Ospray to
17:14
win the AW World Championship. Now that they've done the title switch with Swerve
17:18
Strickland. I don't know if that's gonna happen anymore. Saw a little bit
17:22
more of what they're doing with will Ospray after Dynamite this past week where he
17:26
won the Casino Battle World, which was a really fun and different match concept
17:30
then we've seen play out in professional wrestling, and he will now vye for
17:34
the AW International Championship against rogerck Strong at AW Double or Nothing. I would
17:38
envision will Ospray winning that match and become the AW International Champion. Obviously a
17:44
lot can change, but maybe that's the direction that they go right now,
17:48
and that would be the safe bet to keep will Ospray away from the AW
17:52
World title and not necessarily vie for it at AW All in Wembley this August
17:59
and take on Swarp Strickland because I think the hometown crowd. To me,
18:02
I feel like Osprey would win the championship that night, and then that would
18:06
be a very short title reign for Swart Strickland, which then hurts his star
18:11
as the world champion, and I don't want to see Swerve be a transitional
18:15
champion like Somemojoe kind of was. More so Somemojo was a veryt is a
18:21
very established professional wrestler. Swart Strickland is on the ascend upwards, and I
18:26
don't think he should be, especially in his first world title reign as a
18:29
transition champion, to just get the title of will Ospray in his home country
18:32
at all. In so we'll see how that all plays out. I think
18:36
the direction of swart Strickland right now and the direction of will Osprey are two
18:40
things I am watching specifically coming out of AW Dynasty, and then the last
18:44
thing from this is AW is proving that their TV can be a tough watch,
18:49
but their monthly pay per views always seemed to deliver. I mean,
18:53
Revolution was a great show Dynasty. I gave it four point zero out of
18:56
five. Very good, solid show. I think it's a step below AW
19:00
Revolution, but a great product, great show front to back. How we
19:07
get there? The build for these matches on Dynamite, Collision and Rampage still
19:11
needs a lot of tweaking, still needs a lot of looking over, a
19:17
lot of organization, a little bit more care on the creative side of things,
19:21
and I think if they're able to improve that build and then go to
19:26
the pay per view and execute as well as they have for the last two
19:29
shows. With Revolution and now Dynasty, you will have a product that is
19:33
going back upwards and not on a downtrend, which is kind of feeling they've
19:37
been over the last couple of years. We know the attendance woes, the
19:41
viewership woes, and the stop start the certainly the stuff that we all complain
19:48
about when it comes to the creative. AW can right that ship. They
19:52
can right that wrong by making sure Dynamite, Collision and Rampage always deliver.
19:59
And they have a purpose. They have a build, there's a vision,
20:02
there's an organization, there's a structure, there's a foundation around it that gets
20:07
the fans excited to then go and buy the pay per view and then watch
20:10
the match itself take place, because we got to know why person A is
20:14
wanting to fight person B and why person B wants to fight person A,
20:18
whether there's a title involved or not. So very basic fundamentals professional wrestling.
20:25
But we know that AW can deliver on these pay per views. It's just
20:27
a matter of improving the television. And what we saw in this past week's
20:30
edition of Dynamite, I thought it was a very strong edition of the show,
20:34
and I think it has an opportunity to if they continue forward with that,
20:37
have a really good build towards double or nothing, because aw really needs
20:41
it right now. They're getting hitting the teeth a lot. W is running
20:45
circles around them as a company, as a promotion, with the revenue,
20:49
with viewership, with creative, I think the only thing where there's a level
20:55
playing field for AWWE right now is the in ring product. And the ring
21:00
with WWE means more because there is a better fundamental creative direction behind it rather
21:06
than the stuff that you're seeing AW Whorich just like these are really good performers.
21:08
I got to put on a great match for you for the next ten
21:11
to twenty minutes on a show that has you know, nine to ten matches
21:17
on it, and we'll run for four hours. So interesting stuff here coming
21:22
out of aw Dynasty. Once again. I gave it a four point zero
21:25
as my event rating match of the night was will Ostpray and Brian Danielson.
21:32
So I have to get some of that stuff there from Doctor Trey. The
21:34
pay per view prediction, and we'll have to get that on next week's show.
21:37
The pay perview prediction records coming out of this one. I'm sitting at
21:40
forty five and eight. Doctor Trey is sitting at forty and thirteen, so
21:45
that is still pretty tight between he and I. And that's everything with all
21:49
Elite Wrestling aw Dynasty in the books here. Feel free to chime in on
21:55
anything that I just discussed there in that recap over at Facebook dot com.
21:59
Slash is still Realth show or on Twitter at SRTU podcasts. The other big
22:06
news here in the world professional wrestling is obviously starting on Friday night, is
22:10
the w WEE Draft, the twenty twenty four edition of w Draft. We'll
22:14
give some previeum predictions for that on the outset here. There are some rules
22:18
already that were announced by WWE, and this is what I'm talking about when
22:21
it comes to the stuff that I respect as a viewer, as a professional
22:23
wrestling fan, that they have rules for the draft. There's a way to
22:29
understand it before going into it, and sometimes they did that with a draft,
22:32
and most of the times they did not during the vincik Man era of
22:36
the creative process of worldwrest Entertainment. The rules are as follows. There are
22:41
going to be four rounds sixteen total picks on this Friday's edition of SmackDown.
22:45
On Monday's Raw, there will be six rounds twenty four total picks. I
22:49
love this part right here. Champions on each brand are protected. So it's
22:55
not like Damian Praise and Cody Rhoads can switch, or the women's champions can
22:59
switch. They are staying on SmackDown. They are staying on Raw. The
23:03
women's tag team champions are eligible. SmackDown picks first on Friday, Raw picks
23:08
first on Monday, and then I like this right, a roster's lock on
23:11
Monday five six. So there are rules, there are guidelines. These are
23:17
things that we as a fan already going into Friday's edition of SmackDown when the
23:21
draft begins, can get our heads around and understand. Okay, so is
23:26
a town down under eligible to go to Raw? Now? I mean,
23:29
like, what are we doing here? Sidebar? All of this being that
23:33
the champions are on each brand are protected, and I saw this recently play
23:37
out, especially with the tag team titles being reintroduced, like one is the
23:41
WA Tag Team Championship, the other is the World Tag Team Championship. I
23:45
would love to see where they name Raw and SmackDown differently, right. I
23:53
don't want the brands anymore. And I understand it's been like this for twenty
23:56
two years since they did the brand axtension in twenty twenty two. I have
24:03
always wanted to see them go and name one brand. Let's say WWA E
24:08
Raw I was called the WF W E Raw and like WCW SmackDown, right,
24:14
Like that's the old nostalgia fan of me. Bring back one of your
24:18
three letter promotions that you have in your under your hat or your your guys,
24:22
is your umbrella of WW, and that way it's WW Champion and WCW
24:27
Champion. I think that would be really cool. I would love to see
24:30
that play out someday. But I think the farther and farther we get away
24:34
from this during the Triple H creative reign, the more likely that never happens.
24:38
And I think in w's mind that they look at as Raw as the
24:41
brand and SmackDown as a brand, and I think I would just and it
24:45
all is under the W umbrella. I just would like to see if they're
24:48
going to do that, then you name the titles the Raw World Champion,
24:53
the Raw Intercontinental Champion, like make it important, make it. If you're
25:00
going to call it a brand, then make it the brand. Like WWEE
25:06
and the World Championships. It's just it can be a little bit confusing sometimes
25:11
as to why they named the championships like that, But I digress overall.
25:18
So with that said, who could use a change of scenery and a benefit
25:22
from the draft? Well, looking back at this past weeks WW programming,
25:30
dating back from SmackDown to Raw to NXT, I think there were some tea
25:34
leaves that were showcased as to where the change of scenery or the benefiting from
25:41
the draft will be taking place following Friday and Monday's edition of SmackDown and Raw,
25:48
where the draft is completing. I think the first one being Ludwig Kaiser,
25:52
So imperium is done, it's it's over. He took out gian Avanni
25:56
Vinci on Monday's edition of Raw, gave a little bit of a to Gunther
26:00
and they appear to move on from their friendship. Dare I say so?
26:11
Ludwig Kaiser could use a change of scenery to SmackDown, get him farther away
26:17
from Giovanni Vinci, or if you're going to keep him on Raw, make
26:21
sure he is showcased prominently, which I feel like WWE will now do moving
26:27
forward. What do you do with Giovanni Vinci? I don't know. He's
26:32
extremely talented. I think he's somebody that I could see going back to NXT
26:37
and getting a run, and they like restart that run that they were trying
26:41
with him when they brought him back to Imperium two years ago at Clash of
26:44
the Castle. So Louwig Kaiser's definitely one. I'd like to see Chad Gable
26:51
go to SmackDown. There's been some talk that he would be paired up with
26:55
the Creed Brothers, but if you watch Raw this past week, you saw
26:56
that Alpha Academy is still a thing, and I think if the eventual plan
27:02
is for the Creed Brothers to align with him, I like this direction of
27:06
him belittling in Alpha Academy and trying to be like more ruling with an iron
27:11
fist and the positive reinforcements that he's been doing for the last year plus with
27:15
the Alpha Academy angle. I'd also just like to see Santos Escobar and the
27:21
Gado del Phantasma completely move from SmackDown to Raw. The entire group get them
27:26
away from the LWO and that angle, because I just think it's played out
27:30
as far as it could go, and let's see where the Santo stuff goes
27:33
with the Judgment Day moving forward. I will say that I think Judgment Day
27:37
needs to remain altogether by the way as well, keep them together. It's
27:41
not time to break them up, especially with the rear Ripley being injured.
27:44
But I think they were kind of teasing that a little bit, where Damian
27:48
Priest was kind of turning on the Judgment Day a little bit and telling Jad
27:51
McDonald, Donal mcmasterio and Monday's Raw that they need him more than he needs
27:56
them. So maybe the championship has changed. Damian Prason, you see a
28:00
split take place later on. I would move Gunther to SmackDown and I would
28:07
eventually lead to him feuding with Cody as the w champion on disputed WWEE Champion.
28:12
I think the Gunther Cody feud is one that we see play out later
28:15
this year. I would not be shocked if it takes place at SummerSlam.
28:18
I think gets followed up at Bash of Berlin, where the Austrian is a
28:22
little bit closer to the hometown area. That he grew up in damage control
28:27
to Raw, similar to Santa Sisco on Lake outa del Fantasma. Let's move
28:30
damage Control away from Bailey, move on from that feud, and let Bailey
28:34
focus on some new stuff. We're seeing this already. I think the Final
28:40
Testament carrying cross aop, all of them are going to be going from SmackDown
28:47
to NXT and maybe they'll be the latest main roster group to take place there
28:53
and we'll see where things go with the Final Testament going forward. I think
28:57
that's a step back for them, but it does add a little bit of
29:00
star power to NXC that I think is going to be completely depleted coming out
29:06
of this draft, which, by the way, I love if you look
29:07
at the graphics that Tibodywe's doing for the draft, it was the rule where
29:14
they had the rules and then they showed like which roster pool would be eligible
29:18
each night, and then at the bottom, I think left corner it says
29:19
like plus NXC stars are certain NXC stars are eligible for the draft, or
29:26
something along those lines. So I've got a couple of people from NXC that
29:29
I think are going to be going out there. I think Blair Davenport is
29:32
on her way to the main roster. I think her taking the EL to
29:33
soul Ruka in that Beach Brawl match at Spring Break in this past week was
29:38
pointing to her being called up to the main roster. Same with Baron Corban.
29:41
He took the ELF from the Lexis King. I think he's going back
29:45
to Raw and SmackDown at some point at this draft. I think fight Full
29:48
Select also reported that Elia dragonoff drops the NX Championship to Trick Williams. He
29:53
is a main roster talent in NXC that should be on Raw or SmackDown.
29:57
Roxane Perez she retained. I think this is one of those cases where she
30:02
gets drafted but holds onto the title and then drops into the next pl while
30:06
kind of still being involved with NXC here and there, like bron Breaker just
30:10
did with the tag team titles, and we've seen several times previously. Carmelo
30:15
Hayes. Time for him to get up there. His feud with Trick Williams
30:18
is buying him. He took the l in the cage match, took the
30:22
elt that standon liver. It's time for him to be up by the main
30:23
roster and then these two groups I'm very iffy on, but I think the
30:29
way that it was played out, I could see them being called up,
30:30
one being the DiAngelo family all four members, and then all four members of
30:34
Metaphor from NXT. I just feel like both those groups, both those acts
30:41
have run their course in NXT and it's time for them to be showcased on
30:45
the main roster. So I could see Blair Davenport, Baron KORbin Ely,
30:48
Dragon Off Rox, Dan Perez, Carmelo Hayes, the d'angela family, and
30:52
Metaphor all being called up from NXT and going to the main roster following the
30:57
draft on Friday and Monday. Some folks that could get you can be used
31:03
a little bit better and go to NXC. How about Omas and MVP give
31:07
me an Omas Obafemi match in NXC, or maybe Obama being managed by MVP.
31:15
Maybe Oba and Omas pair up with one another. But I'm probably one
31:21
of the rare wrestling fans that actually likes Omas. We know what he is.
31:25
He's not this like grandiose, all world in ring worker, but he's
31:30
a great character. He's a throwback character. He's got the height, he's
31:33
got the power, and it's just something that you tend to see in professional
31:37
wrestling every now and again, whether it be Andre the Giant, the Big
31:40
Show Great Colleague, or now the next incarnation of Omas So. I could
31:44
see them being utilized better in NXT. I'd like to see Bronson Reid go
31:48
to SmackDown, d I Y go to SmackDown, feud with a town Down
31:52
Hunder. Jimmy Usso I had down as going to Raw, but I just
31:56
read earlier on tonight that he is injured and will not be all for the
32:00
show be eligible for the draft. I think if Naomi ends up on Raw,
32:05
then obviously we will see Jimmy USO there go there and be eventually reunited
32:09
what I would believe to be with Jay us. I think Jay should remain
32:13
on Raw, keep the bloodline on SmackDown, keep those apart from one another
32:17
for right now. So wherever Jimmy, wherever Naomi goes, is where Jimmy
32:22
USA will end up being that that's her husband, aj Styles and La Knight
32:28
to Raw. I'd like to see them go over there be showcased a little
32:30
bit more on the three hour show than rather than the two hour show on
32:32
SmackDown. I think that they are top level talent and can use that extra
32:38
time that they get on Raw to continue forward their current character development that has
32:45
taken place on SmackDown car that over to Raw. I think Ellae Knight needs
32:49
to get away from Cody as well, because Cody's a big babyface. If
32:52
they want la and Night to be a big babyface, you gotta put him
32:53
on the opposite brand. So I could see him going to Raw and then
32:57
finally Pretty Deadly from SmackDown to Raw. I think they are great talent.
33:01
I think there are a talent that would be probably tag team champions. Under
33:06
Vince mcmann's reign of Creative, they've fallen behind a little bit, but I
33:10
still think that Creative doesn't like them. They were involved in a couple of
33:14
vignettes like where they previewed the rust Man forty tag team match, and then
33:19
I saw some like internet exclusives where they were like talking about the matches that
33:23
were taking place that evening on SmackDown, and I thought that was good and
33:27
it made me think, Okay, so there's still something there that Creative sees
33:30
that they enjoy from Pretty Deadly finds them entertaining, and I could see that
33:35
being played out better on Raw and SmackDown because I think they've they've fallen through
33:38
the cracks a little bit. And that's how I always look at these drafts,
33:43
and that's all the changes I'd like to see change scenery and those who
33:46
can benefit from the draft. I always feel like people send wrestlers from SmackDown
33:53
to Raw to expand their character a little bit because of the time that Raw
34:00
has versus then what's on SmackDown. And I think when you see people move
34:05
from Raw to SmackDown, it's because they're a little bit more established and doesn't
34:09
necessarily have to be featured each week. They don't need two or three segments.
34:14
They could get into a segment and go and they're over with the fan
34:15
base already, and I think that's where you see why I want to shift
34:22
some people around a little bit. I think that could be a little bit
34:27
conducive to like my ideas of moving Bronson, Reid and DIY to SmackDown,
34:31
because they could get lost in the shuffle. But I think there's big things
34:36
ahead for those those three wrestlers, and I like to see that play out.
34:39
I think with DIY, there was a little bit of a tease,
34:42
maybe of a split with Demuscle CHAMPI walking out in the match after they lost.
34:45
Awesome truth, I would not like to see that, but it would
34:50
not shock me if under Triple H's creative rain that he feels its time for
34:53
Tomuscle Champion Johnny Amganda to be more successful as single stars rather than showcased as
35:01
a tag team right now. So it'll be a very interesting night. I'm
35:06
really excited for its draft season in the world of the NFL, so perfect
35:12
time by WWEE to capitalize on that and having their WEE Draft taking place during
35:16
the NFL Draft weekend on Friday Night, starting on SmackDown and then carry itself
35:22
over to Monday's Raw. People who I think should stay on the brands,
35:27
I think Drewmacturrency and Punk should remain on Raw. It would not shock me
35:30
if their few somehow ended up over on SmackDown. I think Seth Rollins and
35:37
should remain un Raw, and I think Becky Lynch winning the championship basically cemented
35:42
that. I think I was in the camp that I could see Seth Rollins
35:45
being called over to SmackDown, but as we know, they don't like to
35:49
split up real life couples and rightfully so, so I could see that happening
35:58
where Seth just stays now where originally it was looking like maybe he ends up
36:01
on SmackDown, And that's where I kind of changed around a little bit with
36:06
Ludwig Kaiser going to SmackDown. You know, reportedly or unreportedly, it's well
36:12
known that he's dating Tiffany Stratton. Stratton, so major hat tip to him
36:15
there, and they'd like to see them get back together as a couple.
36:21
So it can't be easy where one's on Raw and ones on SmackDown and they're
36:23
not seeing each other all that much. Putting together on the same brand could
36:28
be that way that they do that. So you could see either Tiffany Stratton
36:30
going to Raw if Ludwig Kaiser stays, or Little lug Kaiser being moved from
36:35
Raw to SmackDown if Tiffany Stratton stays on SmackDown. I would typically say someone
36:39
like Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargo could also benefit a move to Raw, but
36:44
I think it makes sense that they stay on SmackDown being that Nick Aldus just
36:47
signed them in the last six months, and that's something that I always kind
36:52
of like scratched my head a little bit, and we talked a little bit
36:53
on last week's tition of the podcast. Is SmackDown just made like this big
36:58
run of signing Nick bron Breaker, Jade car Gill, Tiffany Stratton rawed the
37:04
big signing to see him punk. It's like, why are you doing these
37:07
big signings with like three months later they could be drafted to the opposite brand,
37:12
Like that doesn't make much sense to me. I'd like to see Kevin
37:15
Owens, Randy Orton stown SmackDown. I think you need that. And I
37:20
think this is kind of one of the few times going into a W draft
37:23
where I don't think that there needs to be as many tweaks as we've seen
37:28
in the past. I don't think there's like this huge abundant point of the
37:35
roster that needs to move around. Like I think it's kind of good where
37:37
it is right now, especially even more so with a champion staying like keep
37:42
Orton and Owens feuding with Logan Paul keep that going. Maybe that carries over
37:46
to them feuding with Atown down under. They don't need to move so I
37:51
would not be shocked if when we sit here for next week's dition to the
37:52
podcast. If there's not as many moves in this year's W Draft, then
37:58
there would be in years past. There'll be enough where the so the fans
38:01
don't complain online. But again, I would not be shocked if there's not
38:07
as many as we're accustomed to. I think my only other bugaboo about the
38:12
W Draft is I would like to see NXC beyond equal footing with Ron SmackDown
38:17
at the draft, and there were reports out there that that was the plan
38:21
or the belief that that's the direction they were gonna be going, and unfortunately
38:23
that did not play out as it stands right now prior to even watching the
38:29
draft the way that it's at least being promoted with the W Draft, I
38:31
think if they were promoting that would be Ross SmackDown and NXT all drafting.
38:36
Maybe it's a different story. I would like to see NXC get back to
38:39
that twenty nineteen Survivor series run where it was a formable third brand and being
38:45
viewed as a third brand, and make them on equal footing when it comes
38:49
to Ron SmackDown. Funny enough, they did do to that at one time
38:53
with Ross SmackDown and then wwwe's version of ECW, and I could see that,
39:01
you know, I think they should go back to that. Make NXT
39:05
look as the third brand and not the little brother or little sister that they
39:09
tend to make it look like, or just the quote developmental brand in it
39:14
all. I mean, that should be a goal and a focus in twenty
39:16
twenty four they got a new contract with the CW coming up later this year.
39:22
Make them look like they're on equal footing as Ron's and SmackDown, and
39:27
I think that would be a very exciting time for professional wrestling fans. Of
39:30
course, that would also mean taking them out the WEPC, which is something
39:32
I can't see them doing right now, but I do would not be surprised
39:36
if they do take NXC on the road at some point in the near future
39:39
here over the next three years and actually make it a touring brand, because
39:43
I think that should be the goal for WE is is in fact making it
39:46
a touring brand at some point. So with that said, the WE Draft
39:52
starts Friday night, depending on when you're listening to this podcast. Hopefully it's
39:58
before the WA Draft, if it's after one of the draft, hopefully the
40:00
predictions I just share there are right, and I look like a genius if
40:05
not the opposite side of that is I look like a damn fool and people
40:08
are laughing at me and like, I can't believe he said that DIY would
40:12
break up and go to or potentially break up and then go to SmackDown,
40:15
Like what is he thinking? Like final Testament to NXC, Roxane Perez going
40:21
to Raw or smack then, what's he thinking about here? Damnage Control should
40:23
continue to feud with Raw? What's he thinking gun through the feud with Cody?
40:27
That's ludicrous. So we'll obviously cover everything from the w draft on next
40:31
week's edition of SRTU, and of course we'll also be preview and predicting WWE
40:37
backlash in France on next week's edition of The Story Real To Show. And
40:42
of course, the very only, our one and only doctor Tref Franklin will
40:45
be hopefully back on next week's edition of SRTU, barring any other work emergencies
40:52
that will be taking place. So with that said, before I close up
40:54
shop on this week's edition of srt a little bit shorter edition in the podcast,
40:58
being than it's just a solo edition the show let's get a couple of
