- 2:48controversy, Governor Maura Healey Lieutenant
- 2:52Governor Kim Driscoll and other Massachusetts
- 2:55leaders have criticized the Trump administration
- 2:57for withholding over $100 million in public school
- 3:01funding. This funding, already allocated by Congress,
- 3:06supports essential programs such as summer and
- 3:09after -school initiatives, mental health services,
- 3:12and supplies. Healy emphasized that the delay
- 3:15harms children and educators, stating, Every
- 3:19day that goes by without this education funding
- 3:21hurts children, educators, communities and our
- 3:25economy. School districts, like New Bedford Public
- 3:29Schools, fear program shutdowns without this
- 3:32crucial financial support. Now on to sports.
- 3:41In a tough matchup, the Seattle Mariners fell
- 3:44to the New York Yankees with a score of 10 -3
- 3:47on July 8th, but Cal Raleigh made history by
- 3:51hitting his 36th home run of the season. This
- 3:55impressive feat allowed Raleigh to surpass the
- 3:57legendary Ken Griffey Jr., who had hit 35 home
- 4:01runs before the All -Star break in 1998. Rayleigh
- 4:06is now closing in on Barry Bond's record of 39
- 4:09home runs before the 2001 All -Star break. The
- 4:14record for most home runs by a catcher in a full
- 4:17season is 48, accomplished by Salvador Perez
- 4:20in 2021. In local sports. In top news. Passengers
- 4:30departing from select U .S. airports may soon
- 4:33be able to leave their shoes on during security
- 4:35checks, regardless of whether they have TSA PreCheck
- 4:39access. The Transportation Security Administration
- 4:43is reportedly phasing out its long -standing
- 4:46requirement for most travelers to remove their
- 4:49shoes, although the agency has not officially
- 4:52confirmed this change. Since August 2006, shoes
- 4:56have been removed to enhance security against
- 4:59explosive threats, a policy stemming from a failed
- 5:02terror plot involving the shoe bomber. Travelers
- 5:06should await official guidance regarding this
- 5:08significant potential shift in security procedures.
- 5:13In business news, in a significant shift, United
- 5:17States imports of antimony oxides from Thailand
- 5:21and Mexico have surged following China's export
- 5:24ban. Since December, at least one Chinese -owned
- 5:28company has played a key role in this transhipment
- 5:31of minerals, which includes antimony, a critical
- 5:34material used in batteries and electronics. U
- 5:38.S. customs data reveal that imports reached
- 5:403 ,834 metric tons in just five months. surpassing
- 5:46totals from the previous three years combined.
- 5:49Experts indicate that while these workarounds
- 5:52are profitable, they come with risks as China
- 5:54intensifies its crackdown on such practices,
- 5:57citing national security concerns. In crypto
- 6:02movement, Bitcoin is up 0 .5 % to about $108
- 6:07,000. Ethereum is up 0 .5 % to just under $2
- 6:12,600. And XRP is up 2 % to $2 .30. Moving on

- 7:56$5 trillion, with over 1 billion robots in use.
- 8:04And in entertainment news, it's a bird, it's
- 8:08a plane, it's a new Superman movie. and the first
- 8:11reviews are in. James Gunn launches the new DC
- 8:15Universe with his blockbuster, featuring David
- 8:19Cornswet as the iconic superhero. Critics are
- 8:23praising Cornswet's performance and his chemistry
- 8:26with co -star Rachel Brostenhan, who portrays
- 8:30Lois Lane. The film boasts a vibrant, comic -book
- 8:34-inspired plot, but some worry it may feel overcrowded
- 8:38with characters and ideas. Questions abound,
- 8:42such as whether it does justice to the character
- 8:44and if it successfully kicks off the new cinematic
- 8:47universe. Superman flies into theaters on July
- 8:5111th, 2025. Well, alrighty folks, it's time for
