- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back into the show. Today, we're going to be
- 0:01Speaker 1: diving in to light coin, a project overview. We're going
- 0:04Speaker 1: to have a special guest for you, so you don't
- 0:06Speaker 1: want to miss it. Let's get started. I do want
- 0:08Speaker 1: to thank our sponsor and that is Tangum. This is
- 0:10Speaker 1: where you guys can get into self custy. There's a
- 0:12Speaker 1: few things you can do with Tangum. One of the
- 0:14Speaker 1: coolest things is actually set it up with your phone.
- 0:17Speaker 1: It works like a credit card, an Android device and
- 0:20Speaker 1: Apple device, very simple to get going. If you're brand
- 0:22Speaker 1: new to self custody, this is the one for you.
- 0:25Speaker 1: It's a hardware device, so it is one of the
- 0:28Speaker 1: most secure out there. And another thing that is really
- 0:30Speaker 1: cool about tangem it takes no time to get it
- 0:33Speaker 1: set up. It's like three minutes to get it going.
- 0:35Speaker 1: All you have to do is visit tangum dot com
- 0:37Speaker 1: use our link down below. It's going to give you
- 0:39Speaker 1: a little bit of a break and get you going
- 0:41Speaker 1: on self cussing.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Let's get over to it today.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I do want to bring in David Schwartz coming in
- 0:45Speaker 1: from Like Coins Foundation into the show. How are you, hey, Paul,
- 0:49Speaker 1: how are you doing Yeah, thanks for coming in today.
- 0:51Speaker 1: So I want to first kick off a little bit
- 0:54Speaker 1: with like coin in terms of any kind of updates
- 0:57Speaker 1: that you can share with us. We're going to be
- 0:59Speaker 1: talking about ETFs and treasuries, but anything that is brewing
- 1:05Speaker 1: right now within the foundation that you can share.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Yeah. Sure.
- 1:08Speaker 3: I think one of the coolest parts is we just
- 1:12Speaker 3: had a new native wallet launch in May end of
- 1:15Speaker 3: May called Nexus Wallet Okay, and I think the great
- 1:19Speaker 3: feature about that is it has the regular light Cooin
- 1:22Speaker 3: addresses that everybody is used to, but it also has
- 1:26Speaker 3: an optional privacy address as well, so you're able to
- 1:30Speaker 3: either keep it in the regular addresses or put it
- 1:33Speaker 3: in one of the optional private Okay addresses, which means
- 1:36Speaker 3: the totals covered and when you interact with other addresses,
- 1:40Speaker 3: the amount that goes back and forth is shielded.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Too.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Interesting, all right, So that's good news.
- 1:46Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:46Speaker 1: I've been following like cooin for quite a while. The
- 1:49Speaker 1: marketing I think is brilliant. I was looking at your
- 1:51Speaker 1: Twitter account, which is significant in terms of size, but
- 1:54Speaker 1: you guys have some really good fun times with it.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I think it's first of all, it's good to see
- 1:59Speaker 1: project like this that kind of don't take themselves too seriously,
- 2:03Speaker 1: have a little bit of fun with it. I love
- 2:05Speaker 1: that one on the but you also get into some
- 2:08Speaker 1: details there. You got set a little big ken Griffin
- 2:11Speaker 1: which is very involved into what you guys are doing.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Let's talk a little bit about the treasury side of
- 2:17Speaker 1: things and also ETF will get into that in a second.
- 2:20Speaker 1: When you look at the market right now, David, and
- 2:23Speaker 1: you kind of see what has been happening with eth
- 2:26Speaker 1: Bitcoin now other potential projects starting to look at treasury companies.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Do you think this is a short time market bubble
- 2:35Speaker 1: or do you think this is a long term strategy
- 2:37Speaker 1: that might be developing.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it all depends on the strategy that
- 2:42Speaker 3: the Treasury is taking. If it's one where they basically
- 2:45Speaker 3: purchase the crypto and then sit on it, there could
- 2:50Speaker 3: be a shorter shelf life to it. If it's one
- 2:52Speaker 3: where the Treasury as what we're recommending myself and Charlie
- 2:57Speaker 3: and the Foundation, any company that's looking to do a
- 3:00Speaker 3: treasury play with like coin is not just to invest
- 3:05Speaker 3: in the in the coin and hold it, but also
- 3:08Speaker 3: allocate some of those funds that they're receiving through equity
- 3:12Speaker 3: or otherwise and actually investing it into the ecosystem to
- 3:16Speaker 3: support the infrastructure and the companies that are building on top.
- 3:20Speaker 3: And in that way they you know, they're able to
- 3:22Speaker 3: gain some yield off of being VCS within the space,
- 3:26Speaker 3: or they take some of that like coin and they're
- 3:28Speaker 3: putting it into something that creates a yield and they're
- 3:30Speaker 3: getting that back. Then that helps the stockholders want to
- 3:33Speaker 3: retain that stock beyond just the promise of like coin
- 3:37Speaker 3: number go up.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Well, I think that has been maybe the killer app
- 3:41Speaker 1: to develop. I think the smarter investors probably are looking
- 3:44Speaker 1: for that now we've already seen it in the e ecosystem.
- 3:48Speaker 1: BTCS is one that kind of comes to mind they
- 3:50Speaker 1: do that right now, We'll probably see more even with
- 3:54Speaker 1: Tom Lee's company BM and R of being able to
- 3:57Speaker 1: enrich the company through you know some of the active
- 4:00Speaker 1: you're talking about, you guys zero down time for twelve years.
- 4:03Speaker 1: So this has become kind of I like this statement, right,
- 4:07Speaker 1: institution's value the kind of reliability kind of like digital silver,
- 4:10Speaker 1: which is cool when you look at investors now, guys
- 4:14Speaker 1: like Ken Griffith and others that are starting to get
- 4:17Speaker 1: behind this. Do you feel that traditional investors are ready
- 4:22Speaker 1: for this kind of asset. I would like they are bigcin, yeah,
- 4:26Speaker 1: like they are big.
- 4:27Speaker 3: One, Yeah, I would I would say yes. And the
- 4:30Speaker 3: reality is, as human beings, we normally just don't settle
- 4:34Speaker 3: for something even if it's treating us very well, and
- 4:37Speaker 3: so wandering eyes come, and so they want to look
- 4:40Speaker 3: at what other asset classes within cryptocurrencies are something that
- 4:44Speaker 3: they could potentially invest in, and like Coin's probably if
- 4:49Speaker 3: not the most underrated and underpriced according.
- 4:53Speaker 2: To their actual metrics.
- 4:55Speaker 3: I can't think of another one, but it would be
- 4:57Speaker 3: something where I would think, you know, being someone who
- 5:00Speaker 3: buys shares of stock, dividend stocks and whatever else, I'm
- 5:04Speaker 3: always looking for where all the fundamentals are screaming by,
- 5:08Speaker 3: but at that moment, it looks like it's just been oversold, right,
- 5:12Speaker 3: And so like coin falls conveniently right into that type
- 5:15Speaker 3: of an asset for somebody to invest in.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Well, when people don't want direct exposure, they typically go
- 5:22Speaker 1: through the route of ETFs. Here's Eric Balschunez talking about
- 5:25Speaker 1: that very thing like coin ETF. Now all the boxes
- 5:28Speaker 1: are checked, likelihood is we could get an SEC approval
- 5:31Speaker 1: of these kinds of programs, the one that we're watching
- 5:35Speaker 1: right now, like coin and also XRP, and you of
- 5:39Speaker 1: course have Solana also kind of in the running right now.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Do you think like coin and.
- 5:43Speaker 1: XRP will be the first that actually get a new
- 5:46Speaker 1: spot etf You.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Know, it's interesting if you would have asked me this
- 5:50Speaker 3: probably five or six months ago, when this was still
- 5:53Speaker 3: fairly fresh, I would have told you that absolutely like
- 5:57Speaker 3: coin would be the first because of the manner which
- 6:00Speaker 3: things are filed, the question marks that were lingering around
- 6:03Speaker 3: XRP and Solona at the time, it just seemed like
- 6:06Speaker 3: cooin literally was a clear cut copy and paste of
- 6:10Speaker 3: all the requirements that were expected of bitcoin when it
- 6:13Speaker 3: was you know, approved, And yet here we are today,
- 6:17Speaker 3: none of them have been approved yet, and it almost
- 6:19Speaker 3: feels like it's going to be some sort of mass approval.
- 6:24Speaker 2: All at one time.
- 6:25Speaker 3: I'm not saying that's what all happened, but it just
- 6:27Speaker 3: sort of I just sort of get that vibe from it, Okay,
- 6:30Speaker 3: is that you know?
- 6:31Speaker 2: Is that fair or not? I mean, it all depends
- 6:34Speaker 2: on which one you're rooting for.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I guess, right, well, yeah, and I think you know
- 6:38Speaker 1: the market itself, it's usually the first mover always wins.
- 6:41Speaker 1: You look at ibid with with bitcoin, it has been
- 6:44Speaker 1: a big one to a certain extent. I feel like
- 6:47Speaker 1: eth maybe got a little bit more of a leveled
- 6:49Speaker 1: playing field because you have a lot of treasury companies
- 6:52Speaker 1: playing for top dog. Whether it's S better, BM and R,
- 6:54Speaker 1: et cetera, but definitely a lot.
- 6:56Speaker 2: I want to play a clip for you.
- 6:58Speaker 1: This is talking Charlie talking about like coin versus stable coins.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I want to get your opinion to take a look.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Stable coins are good for payments also, but we see
- 7:08Speaker 4: people using like cooin more because like coin is a
- 7:11Speaker 4: better store value. People like to use store their money
- 7:14Speaker 4: in crypto and bitcoin in like cooin, similar to how
- 7:17Speaker 4: people store money in gold and silver being better of
- 7:20Speaker 4: store value than FIA currencies.
- 7:22Speaker 1: So do you guys feel that that is maybe the
- 7:25Speaker 1: destiny for like coin is more of a stable asset
- 7:29Speaker 1: that we could see traditional investors moving into like a
- 7:32Speaker 1: stable coin or do you think it's still a speculative play.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Well, I think everything's a specuative play still at this
- 7:38Speaker 3: point to some degree. But I feel like like coin
- 7:42Speaker 3: is in this very unique position to where it can
- 7:46Speaker 3: play as a store value and for merchants as well.
- 7:49Speaker 2: So like if you look at bit pay, coin.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Gate a few of the others that do crypto payment processing,
- 7:56Speaker 3: like coin is either number one or number two for
- 7:59Speaker 3: total payments a month, right above all stable coins. So
- 8:04Speaker 3: like coin led for two years actually on bit pay,
- 8:07Speaker 3: blowing away all the stable coins that were on.
- 8:09Speaker 2: There, and they just surpassed.
- 8:12Speaker 3: I think it's USDT on coin gate and is now
- 8:15Speaker 3: in the number two position behind Bitcoin and coin gates
- 8:18Speaker 3: to one of the most popular ones in Europe. So
- 8:20Speaker 3: I think there's something to be said for people who
- 8:22Speaker 3: are holding on to their light coin or bitcoin or
- 8:25Speaker 3: something that is considered a store of value and then
- 8:28Speaker 3: using it as a payment method later, versus holding it
- 8:31Speaker 3: in stable coins and then losing purchasing power over time,
- 8:35Speaker 3: just like with FIAT, since that's what it's mostly backed by.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I want to hit on a few points within this
- 8:41Speaker 1: because I want to kind of shift over to the
- 8:43Speaker 1: potential of securities and especially tokenized I should say tokenized treasuries,
- 8:49Speaker 1: but more on the side of how some of these
- 8:50Speaker 1: companies are starting to move. This is emmy I Pharma.
- 8:53Speaker 1: They're the one that is going to be potentially a
- 8:54Speaker 1: like coin treasury a couple of points within it. One
- 8:57Speaker 1: hundred million to launch, that's a big deal. And you
- 9:01Speaker 1: also have Citadel that is behind this as well. So
- 9:05Speaker 1: with all of that occurring right now, along with Citadel,
- 9:09Speaker 1: along with the fact that you guys are launching, when
- 9:11Speaker 1: other treasuries are starting to move into the market, do
- 9:14Speaker 1: you think there's going to be too many in the
- 9:16Speaker 1: market to where you can actually get the attention to
- 9:20Speaker 1: draw an investment.
- 9:21Speaker 2: What's your thought? Yeah, you have to be careful with that.
- 9:23Speaker 3: You definitely don't want to oversaturate a play like this,
- 9:27Speaker 3: And Charlie has even mentioned that, and I agree that.
- 9:32Speaker 3: You know, if you have one in the United States,
- 9:34Speaker 3: really solely concentrate on that one and build it up
- 9:37Speaker 3: as best you can.
- 9:38Speaker 2: We have one in.
- 9:39Speaker 3: Canada called lux Folio that has it as a treasury
- 9:42Speaker 3: as well. That would be the only one that we
- 9:44Speaker 3: would really try and necessarily give a lot of support
- 9:48Speaker 3: to or advise. And then you know, if it's sprinkled globally,
- 9:52Speaker 3: like like coins, a global payment system, anybody can use it.
- 9:56Speaker 3: There's no boundaries, and so why not have some treasure
- 9:59Speaker 3: plays in other countries. So I would recommend maybe looking
- 10:03Speaker 3: at getting you know, getting it entered into some other
- 10:07Speaker 3: exchanges around the world in those geographic areas versus I see, Okay.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Having them all piled within the United States in the.
- 10:14Speaker 1: United States, Well, listen, the United States, that's where you know,
- 10:17Speaker 1: that's where the most of the investment is occurring in
- 10:19Speaker 1: these ets. They're by far the number one country out there.
- 10:23Speaker 1: But back to your point earlier in the interview, you
- 10:25Speaker 1: mentioned that treasury companies should be investing back into the ecosystem,
- 10:30Speaker 1: et cetera. Do you know of any plans from em
- 10:34Speaker 1: i p's launch if they're planning on something other than
- 10:38Speaker 1: just holding the token.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Yes, we've had these conversations with them, and their intention
- 10:44Speaker 3: is to look very intently at adding mining into the
- 10:51Speaker 3: into the treasury playing okay, you know, hopefully like supporting
- 10:56Speaker 3: things like our annual Likecoin summit, which we just had
- 10:59Speaker 3: this last May rely next to the Bitcoin conference, yep,
- 11:03Speaker 3: and then investing potentially in some companies that will end
- 11:07Speaker 3: up building out the eco or the ecosystem or the
- 11:10Speaker 3: infrastructure on like coin for DeFi and smart contracts and
- 11:15Speaker 3: things like that.
- 11:15Speaker 1: All Right, So, David, let me play this clip for
- 11:18Speaker 1: you to kind of break down the way the community
- 11:21Speaker 1: is taking a look at this as well.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Take a look at hitcoin.
- 11:24Speaker 5: Just got bought by a holding company. And guess who
- 11:26Speaker 5: bought into the holding company.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Charlie Lee.
- 11:29Speaker 5: Charlie Lee, if you remember, he's the guy that started
- 11:31Speaker 5: like cooin when he was working at coinbase, and then.
- 11:34Speaker 2: He sold out.
- 11:34Speaker 5: He betrayed all his community and all his followers by
- 11:37Speaker 5: selling all of his light cooin at the top, was
- 11:39Speaker 5: it like twenty seventeen or twenty nineteen or something like that. Ridiculous.
- 11:44Speaker 5: He made tons of money. And then you know what
- 11:45Speaker 5: he did with his tons of money, He made tons
- 11:47Speaker 5: more by just buying bitcoin. So now he's super super rich.
- 11:50Speaker 5: And then guess what he does. He buys the company
- 11:52Speaker 5: that just bought all of light coin. Why because they're
- 11:56Speaker 5: going to drive to push light coin through to Wall
- 12:00Speaker 5: Street using an ETL and all the corporations are going
- 12:02Speaker 5: to buy like coin now.
- 12:03Speaker 1: All right, So you get the pushback there from the
- 12:06Speaker 1: audience from the community, My question is how do you
- 12:09Speaker 1: respond to that.
- 12:11Speaker 2: I've never even heard of this guy.
- 12:12Speaker 3: And I can tell you the community, the ones that
- 12:14Speaker 3: have been loyal through this whole thing, understand that actually
- 12:17Speaker 3: Charlie did it out of avoiding conflict of interest. I mean,
- 12:20Speaker 3: if you're going to have a decentralized crypto currency, and
- 12:23Speaker 3: every time the man posted a tweet it was going
- 12:26Speaker 3: up and down.
- 12:27Speaker 2: That's a lot of that's a lot of.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Undue hardship on him and on the community or anybody
- 12:32Speaker 3: that's investing in it. So it was just logical, Like
- 12:35Speaker 3: he divested at an average of two hundred and five dollars,
- 12:40Speaker 3: which is half of the all time high, so that's
- 12:44Speaker 3: not even close to the peak, right, and then he
- 12:46Speaker 3: takes it money and he reinvests it. He's our top
- 12:49Speaker 3: donor for a cooin foundation is probably ninety eight percent
- 12:53Speaker 3: of everything that we run off within a year, right,
- 12:56Speaker 3: So he was putting it back into the ecosystem. And
- 12:58Speaker 3: then now he buys into this this treasury through i P.
- 13:03Speaker 3: You know, now he's I suppose indirectly in the game
- 13:06Speaker 3: again by investing in it.
- 13:08Speaker 2: But he did it.
- 13:09Speaker 3: He did it to signify his faith and his ability
- 13:12Speaker 3: to understand what i P was doing and that he
- 13:15Speaker 3: agreed with it, right, and then he gets put on
- 13:17Speaker 3: the board in order to make sure that everything runs
- 13:21Speaker 3: the right, the right way, the light coin way. So
- 13:24Speaker 3: I think all of it is very very positive.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Okay, all right, well listen, we're going to be doing more.
- 13:30Speaker 1: We're going to cover light coin a little bit more
- 13:31Speaker 1: because we're getting more people out there asking about it.
- 13:34Speaker 1: So we'd love to have you back on. But thanks
- 13:35Speaker 1: so much for coming in today. We appreciate it.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Thank you, Paul, I appreciate it.
- 13:39Speaker 1: You bet, are you guys? If you are not in
- 13:41Speaker 1: the Diamond Circle, make sure and get in that right now.
- 13:43Speaker 1: It's our own private group that you can be part
- 13:45Speaker 1: of it absolutely free. Will leave a link down below.
