- 2:35Speaker 1: one calls for you today. So let's get started. On
- 2:40Speaker 1: November twenty third, twenty nineteen, authorities in Schomberg, Illinois, received
- 2:45Speaker 1: a nine to one one call from fifty five year
- 2:48Speaker 1: old optometrist Anthony Pratt to report a so called fight
- 2:53Speaker 1: he'd had with his girlfriend, forty eight year old Margaret Daniel.
- 3:00Speaker 3: A girlfriend and I had a fight.
- 3:02Speaker 4: She stabbed me with a knife and I stabbed her back,
- 3:05Speaker 4: and I think she's greatly wounded.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Okay, and I'm going to get you. I'm going to
- 3:10Speaker 3: get our police and paramedics on the way. Is she
- 3:13Speaker 3: still inside right now? Yes?
- 3:15Speaker 4: Yes, yes, we're both inside.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Okay, hang on just a second place. Do you still
- 3:21Speaker 3: have the knife in your hand?
- 3:22Speaker 5: Sir? It's on the floor.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Okay.
- 3:29Speaker 4: I don't know what I suggest.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Okay, Sarah, I want you to just stay on the
- 3:33Speaker 3: phone with me. I'm letting my officers know where is
- 3:36Speaker 3: the knife at that she had.
- 3:38Speaker 4: It's on the floor.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Okay.
- 3:40Speaker 5: Do you feel both parting with the same knife?
- 3:43Speaker 3: Okay? Do you feel safe enough to go back inside
- 3:47Speaker 3: to check on her at this point?
- 3:50Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 3:51Speaker 3: Okay? Is there anybody else inside the house? Is it
- 3:53Speaker 3: just you and her and that's it?
- 3:56Speaker 6: It?
- 3:56Speaker 5: Is that?
- 3:57Speaker 3: Correct?
- 3:58Speaker 4: Yes?
- 4:00Speaker 3: Okay, I'm back inside. Okay, I want you to tell
- 4:04Speaker 3: me if she's awake.
- 4:07Speaker 5: She's not.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Okay, stay on the phone with me here, sir. Look good,
- 4:11Speaker 3: she doesn't look good. I don't know what I should
- 4:13Speaker 3: do for Okay, we're gonna walk. We're gonna walk through
- 4:15Speaker 3: this and try to help her until the police and
- 4:18Speaker 3: paramedics get there. Okay, just stay on the phone with
- 4:21Speaker 3: me here. How old is she served? Forty eight? Okay,
- 4:30Speaker 3: hang on just a second here, but I try CPS. Okay,
- 4:33Speaker 3: so we're gonna walk through this. Hang on just a
- 4:35Speaker 3: moment here with me. Is she breathing?
- 4:38Speaker 6: I don't.
- 4:39Speaker 5: I do not think so.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Okay, there's a lot of bloody. Okay, is she breathing?
- 4:50Speaker 4: I don't think.
- 4:53Speaker 5: Could I do?
- 4:54Speaker 3: Okay, Okay, hang on, just okay. I want you to
- 4:57Speaker 3: stay on the phone here, so we're good. I've got
- 4:59Speaker 3: I've got injury live.
- 5:02Speaker 5: In my arms. But I could say.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Okay, sir, I want you okay, sir, listen to me.
- 5:09Speaker 3: We have the police from paramedics, like I said on
- 5:11Speaker 3: the way, to help you. I want you to stay
- 5:13Speaker 3: on the phone with me. Hang on just a moment here.
- 5:15Speaker 3: We're going to start CPR, but I'm letting my police
- 5:18Speaker 3: in paramedics know. Just stay on the phone here with me, okay.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Emergency responders rushed to Margaret's home, where they found her
- 5:27Speaker 1: lifeless body. The Cook County Medical Examiner determined she'd been
- 5:31Speaker 1: stabbed twenty to thirty times with numerous wounds to her
- 5:36Speaker 1: chest and back. Margaret, a beloved nurse, anesthetist, and mother
- 5:42Speaker 1: of two adult daughters, was pronounced dead at the scene.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Investigators learned that the couple had hosted a small dinner
- 5:50Speaker 1: party earlier that evening. Witnesses said the atmosphere turned tense
- 5:55Speaker 1: when the topic of death came up, perturbing Anthony. As
- 6:00Speaker 1: the guests were leaving, Margaret apologised for Anthony's behavior. This
- 6:04Speaker 1: sparked an argument between the couple that escalated to violence.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Anthony stabbed Margaret repeatedly before calling three family members to
- 6:13Speaker 1: confess what he'd done. He'd waited at least twenty minutes
- 6:18Speaker 1: before calling nine one one. This murder raised questions among
- 6:24Speaker 1: authorities about Anthony's history. In twenty eleven, his wife, Bridget,
- 6:30Speaker 1: had died in what was at the time reported as
- 6:33Speaker 1: a car accident, though no charges were filed. Her family
- 6:37Speaker 1: had long suspected foul play. Anthony was driving at the
- 6:41Speaker 1: time of the accident, and according to him, Bridget just
- 6:45Speaker 1: happened to unbuckle her seat belt right before the crash.
- 6:50Speaker 1: The pathologist who examined Bridget's corpse believed she had died
- 6:54Speaker 1: before the car crashed, and it was noted that the
- 6:57Speaker 1: accident didn't seem serious innenough enough to kill her. The
- 7:01Speaker 1: airbags didn't even deploy. The car accident was investigated for
- 7:06Speaker 1: almost a year, but eventually the case was dropped and
- 7:10Speaker 1: charges were never filed. Bridget's family hired a private investigator
- 7:14Speaker 1: and continued pressing law enforcement to look into the case.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Margaret's murder finally prompted authorities to take another look at
- 7:23Speaker 1: Bridget's death. Anthony Prt was charged with first degree murder
- 7:28Speaker 1: for killing Margaret Daniel. While he was awaiting trial, he
- 7:33Speaker 1: was released on a three hundred thousand dollars cash bond
- 7:36Speaker 1: and placed under house arrest with an ankle monitor. However,
- 7:41Speaker 1: he contracted COVID nineteen and died in December of twenty
- 7:45Speaker 1: twenty before the case could go to trial. Margaret's daughter, Dominica,
- 7:51Speaker 1: later filed a civil lawsuit against Prate's estate, receiving a
- 7:55Speaker 1: four million dollar judgment in her and her sister, Tricia's favor.
- 8:11Speaker 1: My parents can't believe how fast my kids are growing up,
- 8:14Speaker 1: and neither can I. It's hard to stay involved and
- 8:18Speaker 1: updated as a grandparent, which is why we love Aura frames.

- 10:37Speaker 1: On May tenth, twenty twenty, police were called to the
- 10:40Speaker 1: home of seventy three year old William Miller in Oakwood, Ohio.
- 10:45Speaker 1: A heated argument between William and his nineteen year old
- 10:48Speaker 1: grandson Evan Holcombe escalated into fatal violence. William called nine
- 10:54Speaker 1: one one shortly after the incident, confessing to what he'd done.
- 11:03Speaker 3: I just shot a little in my house.
- 11:07Speaker 5: You did what I did?
- 11:09Speaker 3: Shot somebody?
- 11:10Speaker 5: You shot someone?

- 18:41Speaker 5: You can leave the cell phone in your hand. Just
- 18:43Speaker 5: just put your hands up so they can see, okay.
- 18:50Speaker 1: William's granddaughter Crystal told investigators she heard the two arguing
- 18:54Speaker 1: before two gunshots rang out. William had fired a warning
- 18:59Speaker 1: shot to the ceiling before shooting Evan in the chest.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Emergency responders arrived to find Evan dead inside the home.
- 19:10Speaker 1: William Miller was arrested and charged with aggravated murder, but

- 22:43Speaker 1: year old Brian Kohe the Second accidentally submerged his car
- 22:47Speaker 1: in the Colorado River near a boat launch. He called
- 22:50Speaker 1: his parents, who came to his aid. Along with the police.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Brian said that he just wanted to watch the river
- 22:57Speaker 1: at night under the full moon, and the the car
- 23:00Speaker 1: accidentally rolled down the boat launch. The police and Brian's
- 23:05Speaker 1: parents were laughing at the situation and saw it as
- 23:08Speaker 1: a foolish mistake by a teenager. Little did they know
- 23:12Speaker 1: there was so much more to this accident than they
- 23:15Speaker 1: could imagine. Three days later, on March first, both of
- 23:21Speaker 1: Brian's parents independently made upsetting discoveries. Brian's father, Brian Cohey,
- 23:29Speaker 1: was cleaning out Brian's car to get it fixed up
- 23:32Speaker 1: after the river accident, when he discovered a knife in
- 23:36Speaker 1: the glove compartment, as well as a wallet belonging to
- 23:40Speaker 1: Warren Barnes. Warren was a sixty nine year old homeless
- 23:45Speaker 1: man who was well known and loved in the community.
- 23:49Speaker 1: He was known to be a gentle soul who loved
- 23:52Speaker 1: to read and worked for the Temp Agency. Unbeknown to
- 23:57Speaker 1: Brian's Warren had recently been reported missing by the Temp Agency. Meanwhile,
- 24:05Speaker 1: Brian Junior's mother, Terry Cohe, made a far worse discovery
- 24:10Speaker 1: in her son's closet, a decomposing human head and hands. Horrified,
- 24:18Speaker 1: Terry called the police.
- 24:22Speaker 8: Fine, there is an it's around Okay, what's the Why
- 24:37Speaker 8: do you think it's because it looks like it's on ear.
- 24:43Speaker 5: Like anything like that?
- 24:44Speaker 8: To drummer Trump, he just pulled up on the line
- 24:53Speaker 8: to make sure he was here before we called. It's
- 24:58Speaker 8: a fascination with the more I did. But he was
- 25:01Speaker 8: channeling it, I thought. And she's becoming a prime chat investigator,
- 25:05Speaker 8: but not too much. He's gonna be cooportive with those.
- 25:08Speaker 8: I don't know. I don't think he'll be violent. He
- 25:12Speaker 8: came back from his son's house.
- 25:14Speaker 4: Did you have any weapons in his room?
- 25:16Speaker 8: I don't know. I think that she has a shotgun.
- 25:19Speaker 8: But we can the immediate before he gets he stop
- 25:24Speaker 8: by the car.
- 25:25Speaker 5: Now though there's a barage still in the closet.
- 25:27Speaker 8: Now it's in my chicken seat. And there's a second
- 25:30Speaker 8: day back that I have not opened her.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Police arrived at the Kohe home to find Terry sobbing.
- 25:38Speaker 1: The police asked Brian what his mother had found, and
- 25:41Speaker 1: Brian calmly, almost smugly, confessed, Okay.
- 25:47Speaker 3: So parents have some concerns of some stuff they.
- 25:50Speaker 5: May have found in your room.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I believe so, And what would it be.
- 25:59Speaker 1: A human head hands like for.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Real human head and hands? Yes, from.
- 26:05Speaker 1: That fellow who I'm missing recently?
- 26:07Speaker 7: Which fellow was up?
- 26:08Speaker 4: Warren Brown?
- 26:10Speaker 3: Warren Brown? When did he go missing? Good night of
- 26:14Speaker 3: the twenty seventh, the night of the twenty cents? Okay,
- 26:17Speaker 3: then how did you end up with him?
- 26:19Speaker 4: I murdered him with what a knife?
- 26:23Speaker 3: Why would you have done that?
- 26:25Speaker 4: I've always wondered what murder felt like.
- 26:28Speaker 1: After talking with the family, an officer went into the
- 26:32Speaker 1: house and confirmed that there was indeed a human head
- 26:35Speaker 1: and hands inside the bag Terry had found. Brian was
- 26:39Speaker 1: taken to the police station and questioned, and his parents
- 26:43Speaker 1: followed and also were interviewed by detectives.
- 26:48Speaker 3: Tell me about Brian.
- 26:49Speaker 7: Did he have any kind of minimal issues or disability?
- 26:54Speaker 8: Night wive.
- 27:00Speaker 7: And I did think that It started in.
- 27:02Speaker 8: The summer a weekend only went to Kay.
- 27:09Speaker 5: Go to school.
- 27:11Speaker 7: He started in sibiting and antich social behavior, Kay.
- 27:16Speaker 8: Kids saying things. Kid kids dropped up.
- 27:19Speaker 7: And think it was that. And the doctor and said, yes,
- 27:27Speaker 7: he's any ac, Yes he's autistic.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Yes he's this.
- 27:32Speaker 8: Oh and.
- 27:35Speaker 7: There's some indications that, uh, he should get further testing
- 27:40Speaker 7: because of potential psychosis. When you talked about the school
- 27:44Speaker 7: stuff and having lots of issues, what were the issues that.
- 27:48Speaker 8: They were having that made that our kid who is
- 27:50Speaker 8: not feeling safe.
- 27:52Speaker 7: He would make a joke that we're not appropriate. He
- 27:59Speaker 7: got suspended a few times, like for behavior that wasn't acceptable, like.
- 28:08Speaker 8: This one girl, and.
- 28:09Speaker 5: He knows very well.
- 28:10Speaker 7: He knows that she has a lot of issues and
- 28:14Speaker 7: that loud's noises frighten her.
- 28:17Speaker 8: And so, you know, one of.
- 28:19Speaker 7: His school suspensions was when he you know, came up
- 28:22Speaker 7: to her in the hallway and closed really out next door,
- 28:26Speaker 7: you know, knowing that he would put her in a panic,
- 28:28Speaker 7: and she cried and they were like, yep, nope, you
- 28:32Speaker 7: know that's not how Nope, you knew that would upset
- 28:35Speaker 7: her and you did it a right. You know, he
- 28:38Speaker 7: had the mortgage.
- 28:38Speaker 4: He had a mortgage.
- 28:39Speaker 5: That's the humor.
- 28:40Speaker 7: And we made jokes and I said, pain that it's
- 28:42Speaker 7: not funny, and he said, yeah it is, mom.
- 28:44Speaker 8: You don't get like such a humor, you know.
- 28:49Speaker 7: So, but some of his behaviors that we attributed to autisms,
- 28:56Speaker 7: like the black face, maybe isn't the visible autism.
- 29:03Speaker 8: Obviously it's something else.
- 29:04Speaker 7: Okay, what about any.
- 29:09Speaker 8: Fascinations or things.
- 29:11Speaker 7: He's six eighth on a lot of personal perfect preparation
- 29:15Speaker 7: on crime and crime scene and so he's talking about.
- 29:25Speaker 8: Going into the military in the.
- 29:27Speaker 7: Fall and when he gets out, having your job.
- 29:31Speaker 5: And so I had.
- 29:33Speaker 7: Purchased online a crime scene investigation book for him. So
- 29:37Speaker 7: I gave that to him, and I was like, so
- 29:39Speaker 7: you're buying you know, let's channel that curiosity into something
- 29:42Speaker 7: positive and you can affected a change in the world, right,
- 29:46Speaker 7: And he's like, yeah, that's my planned.
- 29:47Speaker 8: Mom.
- 29:49Speaker 1: He's obviously sick.
- 29:51Speaker 5: He's obviously very sick.
- 29:52Speaker 4: He was noticed weird things about it. Some days gets cold,
- 29:56Speaker 4: just just he looked for me and he has his
- 29:58Speaker 4: cold look in his face.
- 30:00Speaker 7: I just don't know what happened. I don't know why,
- 30:02Speaker 7: what made him though, you know, and I.
- 30:05Speaker 8: Don't never know that question.
- 30:07Speaker 5: How many times you're.
- 30:07Speaker 3: Gonna ask me.
- 30:08Speaker 8: I don't know why he would win where And I
- 30:10Speaker 8: don't know anything.
- 30:10Speaker 4: I'm just as dark about this as you. Never been
- 30:13Speaker 4: disled at all with any family members, Mom, Dad, Brian, dogs.
- 30:17Speaker 5: Never any any that could in his body.
- 30:20Speaker 4: Never ever.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Nothing. Brian was very open in his interrogation and waved
- 30:27Speaker 1: his right to a lawyer, as some murderers are, he
- 30:31Speaker 1: seemed eager to give the detectives all the details of
- 30:35Speaker 1: his vile deeds.
- 30:38Speaker 2: I was driving one night.
- 30:40Speaker 4: I was in a that was a bad stated night.
- 30:43Speaker 5: Okay.
- 30:43Speaker 4: I saw a strange state by the railway tracks. So
- 30:45Speaker 4: I vestigated and agree would be a homeless person sleeping.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Okay.
- 30:50Speaker 4: So I stabbed in the go okay, then decalculated his
- 30:54Speaker 4: head and hands and arms okay. I then took the
- 30:59Speaker 4: head and put in my car trunk, along with the
- 31:01Speaker 4: hands and the bags, plastics and walk backs. I took
- 31:07Speaker 4: it back to my house, cleaned off the knife, tried
- 31:11Speaker 4: to hide the head and hands, removed the trash in
- 31:14Speaker 4: my car that was staining in blood, and then I
- 31:17Speaker 4: went and then I tried sleeping. However, I was quite serious,
- 31:22Speaker 4: how he say, because I decided that's much evidence. The
- 31:26Speaker 4: body needs to be dumped in the river. So I
- 31:29Speaker 4: took the body in the trunk, drive it to the
- 31:30Speaker 4: blue hairm Jaw off point and had unsuccessfully dumped the
- 31:35Speaker 4: body as I part two, low down the ramp. The
- 31:38Speaker 4: ramp is un dirt. So once here four well driving
- 31:41Speaker 4: back Vietnam, and I was able to look it out
- 31:44Speaker 4: and my car flooded. It was that was let's see,
- 31:48Speaker 4: I killed him just after eleven February twenty seventh, twenty
- 31:56Speaker 4: twenty one. Then I dumped the boy.
- 32:01Speaker 8: I tried to dump the body.
- 32:06Speaker 4: I would try to remember the time exactly.
- 32:08Speaker 5: It was one an.
- 32:12Speaker 4: Yeah, so that sounds lasting.
- 32:14Speaker 5: So what do you want to know?
- 32:16Speaker 4: To start back at the beginning and go slow and
- 32:17Speaker 4: tell me as many details as you can remember. So,
- 32:22Speaker 4: because I mean, Murray going to jail for fifteen years probably,
- 32:26Speaker 4: I have no idea because at the beginning its mark.
- 32:31Speaker 4: I mean I'm going to jail for twenty probably, But
- 32:36Speaker 4: so to hear why fight had okay, So what's important
- 32:40Speaker 4: to me is to learn as much about you and
- 32:43Speaker 4: what you did and as I can, well, as many
- 32:45Speaker 4: details as you can get a little better. Yeah, it
- 32:48Speaker 4: was the night of February twenty seven. It was a
- 32:52Speaker 4: full dude, and I figured I didn't see so well, why.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Not try it out? And I am an a bad I.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Didn't mind at that time.
- 33:01Speaker 4: I am I have major depressive disorder, so I am
- 33:05Speaker 4: not thinking, I shall say poppatively, okay.
- 33:11Speaker 8: And I crewed around for.
- 33:15Speaker 5: An hour an hour and a half and I'm.
- 33:19Speaker 4: Eventually driving underneath the bridge near the Sheriff's office. And
- 33:24Speaker 4: I was driving along and I see the shape here
- 33:27Speaker 4: on the railway truck.
- 33:28Speaker 8: So I'm like, oh, it's interesting. He's like, ohh and.
- 33:32Speaker 7: I've been looking.
- 33:33Speaker 4: I feel large thing wrapping a handass okay, and I'm like, that's.
- 33:39Speaker 1: An homeless person.
- 33:41Speaker 4: So I grabbed my knife. I put on three layers
- 33:45Speaker 4: of cups and I took the knife. I pulled back
- 33:48Speaker 4: the canvas and I stabbed his neck. He was panicking
- 33:52Speaker 4: at first in his old hand and voice.
- 33:55Speaker 8: He was saying, what are you doing? What are you doing?
- 33:57Speaker 1: Why?
- 33:58Speaker 2: And I just kept on saving his neck.
- 34:01Speaker 4: It was actually surprisingly easy. I was really breaking the sweat.
- 34:04Speaker 4: I thought, homes God, he's going to be tough, but no,
- 34:07Speaker 4: it was actually surprisingly easy. And during the time, I
- 34:12Speaker 4: was growling and made me animalistic noises.
- 34:17Speaker 5: What we are going?
- 34:19Speaker 4: I suppose it was a friend of me. I was
- 34:23Speaker 4: so excited, so rest up on adrenaline, I pau said.
- 34:26Speaker 4: He said why are you doing this? And I said,
- 34:28Speaker 4: I've been wanting to do this for a long time,
- 34:31Speaker 4: part of summer. And then I continued the whole argy.
- 34:35Speaker 4: Lasked about a minute man and a half and when
- 34:39Speaker 4: I was finished stabbing him, he took out his last
- 34:43Speaker 4: breath a grunt, and his head was halfway off.
- 34:47Speaker 3: And you you talked about you were just kind of
- 34:50Speaker 3: in a bad state that night.
- 34:52Speaker 1: It was yes, okay, why.
- 34:54Speaker 4: Were you in a bad state? I didn't take my
- 34:58Speaker 4: medicine head plus For years I was wondering what murder
- 35:03Speaker 4: would be like because hit bunding the zodiacally, I would
- 35:07Speaker 4: say murders the best in the oral soun like I'm
- 35:11Speaker 4: going to try that. I was figuring the police don't
- 35:16Speaker 4: this is not be taking offense, but the least they
- 35:20Speaker 4: don't seem to care as much about higher risk individuals.
- 35:25Speaker 4: Howless people prostitutes et there. So I was delivered. Was
- 35:30Speaker 4: looking for someone who lived that type of play. So
- 35:33Speaker 4: how long have you been planning or looking for someone
- 35:36Speaker 4: to do this with before you come this guy? So
- 35:39Speaker 4: it's a month, So you come close or seen somebody
- 35:42Speaker 4: or checking them out or anything in the past. You
- 35:47Speaker 4: so before this guy, how close have.
- 35:49Speaker 1: You come in the past.
- 35:52Speaker 4: We just drive around, you know, just try and find
- 35:54Speaker 4: just anybody interesting, and.
- 35:57Speaker 3: You know, in your minds on the plan.
- 35:59Speaker 4: Well, occasionally when you see girls walking down the street.
- 36:04Speaker 4: I take a glance to him because it really is
- 36:07Speaker 4: like a camber ware. Half of me says, well, I'm
- 36:11Speaker 4: quite in that to aplain I'm being honest.
- 36:14Speaker 8: I'm no Capanola.
- 36:16Speaker 4: But asked me says I want to take that girl
- 36:18Speaker 4: home and her feel nice. And in the other half
- 36:22Speaker 4: of me, just like what Ed said is I want
- 36:25Speaker 4: to see what her head.
- 36:26Speaker 5: Looks like on a stick.
- 36:29Speaker 1: At Brian's trial, he pleaded not guilty due to insanity,
- 36:34Speaker 1: citing his diagnosis of ADHD, autism, and depression. The defense
- 36:39Speaker 1: fell flat as all three of those diagnoses are very
- 36:43Speaker 1: common and are not generally known to provoke murder. Additionally,
- 36:48Speaker 1: Brian had confessed to planning to murder someone for months,
- 36:53Speaker 1: specifically a homeless person, as he believed they would not
- 36:56Speaker 1: be missed. Brian Kohe the Second was found guilty of
- 37:02Speaker 1: first degree murder, tampering with evidence, and tampering with the
- 37:05Speaker 1: deceased human body. He was sentenced to life in prison
- 37:09Speaker 1: without the possibility of parole. It's fortunate that this young
- 37:14Speaker 1: man was swiftly found after committing his first murder, and
- 37:17Speaker 1: that there is no chance he'll ever be released Otherwise,
- 37:22Speaker 1: he has all the potential of becoming a serial killer.
