- 0:01Hello and welcome to another episode of Christian Reef
- 0:05podcast. Today's episode is actually very
- 0:07special because it marks the 30th installment of the
- 0:12Christian Reef podcast. And for those video viewers, you
- 0:15can see that we have Dutch deals on the podcast again for I
- 0:18believe the third time, now returning, guess the toys.
- 0:23Always welcome back on the show. So thanks, thanks for coming
- 0:26back on the show and we're going to do something a little bit
- 0:29different today. Obviously, normally, you guys
- 0:32know that I interview my guests and obviously, if they're
- 0:35returning guests, we have a bit of a chat that's still going to
- 0:38happen. But this past week, I did
- 0:41actually put out a very unsuccessful little campaign
- 0:45asking if there was any questions that people wanted to
- 0:48ask me. We thought we would flip it up
- 0:51and have someone interview me for a change instead of me,
- 0:55interviewing someone else. So Dutch deals has actually Like
- 1:01written a bunch of questions to ask me and yeah you can see the
- 1:05list though. I was not expecting, that would
- 1:08be honest but yeah, it really sucks whenever this isn't a
- 1:12complaint. I'm just saying how it is right?
- 1:14Whenever I put these little social media things out and I'm
- 1:17like hey guys what do you think of the podcast or hey guys like
- 1:21ask me some questions for this upcoming thing?
- 1:24Literally no one responds and how is that?
- 1:28Not even one question. There's nothing anyone wants to
- 1:32know, like, if I think the worst thing is, if you look at your
- 1:36your insights to see how many people's actually come across it
- 1:38on Twitter, it's like 600 or something, but not a single
- 1:41person, as even like looked at it, what is it?
- 1:44That I don't mind so much. I mean, you know, if it's just
- 1:47because obviously with the hashtags it means it's open to a
- 1:50little wider audience. So I don't expect strangers to
- 1:52care, but I do expect like, I don't know, family, friends,
- 1:56maybe other online people. I know because there's people,
- 2:00That that I'm good friends with. I'm like, why didn't you ask me
- 2:03a question? Like you know that this is
- 2:05important right? Well I was even and I was kind
- 2:09of sad by the fact that nobody replied so I was gonna leave but
- 2:12then again, I just decided to write up a full case of
- 2:14questions. Before we get into talking about
- 2:23me because I don't like really doing that, to be honest.
- 2:26How are you doing, ma'am? I'm not too bad.
- 2:30I've fully started school now. All right, I started three weeks
- 2:37ago on Wednesday to watch two or three weeks on Wednesday, and
- 2:44it's like 30 minutes away by car.
- 2:47All Bus 30 30. Well okay it's not too bad far
- 2:54away. 30 minutes is nothing. Man, I've gone way longer to
- 2:58places but what do you think minutes is chill?
- 3:01But school? So if you're late, you are late.
- 3:06If you're if I missed the bus I have to wait 15 minutes for the
- 3:09next one, which turns a normal half an hour journey into a
- 3:1345-minute Journey, right, CEO? I mean, you're in the
- 3:16Netherlands, Us and obviously things are different country by
- 3:20country. So what do the classrooms kind
- 3:24of look like at this point? And what I mean by that question
- 3:27is, you know, is it compact compact or, you know, have you
- 3:31got a lot of people in a classroom or is there like
- 3:33social distancing, think there's about 19, it like 18 or 19
- 3:39people in my class? No, no 16.
- 3:43The 16 people are remember. The students don't have to
- 3:47socially distance from each other, but if they want to they
- 3:50can just sort of keep a wide berth from people.
- 3:54But students and teachers have to stay 1.5 meters away from
- 4:01Someone but like the standard classroom.
- 4:04Like are you going in there? And there's like a big bunch of
- 4:07people or he's there like you know, like one seat free, one
- 4:11seat, freak like that. Although stickers like a normal
- 4:14classroom, a lot of the classrooms have the same layout
- 4:16in the sense that it's like a big, you like of the tables, and
- 4:22then a block of like four seats in the middle.
- 4:26Interesting. Okay.
- 4:27Alright, teacher wants to help them to put on like a fish
- 4:31Shield. Hmm.
- 4:34So like do you does everyone carry like hand sanitizer or is
- 4:37that actively available everywhere and stuff?
- 4:40Yeah. You when you come in the
- 4:41collapse, your tent put you have to put a hand sanitizer on
- 4:45before you go and sit down. So eventually the Hat, the room
- 4:48just smells of hand sanitizer when you're walking into school.
- 4:55Well, I suppose it's College. It's not school because you
- 4:57finish school. So, was his college.
- 4:59Now, isn't it? This is, this isn't like my
- 5:02college were actually go and learn things.
- 5:04This is just a school to go and learn the Dutch language.
- 5:09Sorry. Yeah, you did say I remember.
- 5:10Yeah. How is that going?
- 5:11By the way shot is good. Okay.
- 5:16Pronunciation is good. I must say benefit many Lawns ma
- 5:21shaver and most of her. And okay, laser laser is Nick,
- 5:29so cuuuute must play Sega display, okay?
- 5:32This would your pronunciation is very good.
- 5:35I think I think. Because I remember last time we
- 5:37were talking about this and you kind of said like, you know,
- 5:39you've been visiting the Netherlands for many years.
- 5:42So you've basically been learning a language for many
- 5:44years so I think like that factors in very highly about you
- 5:47said last time, you know, like you probably not going to be in
- 5:50this class for very long because you've got a ticket.
- 5:52I think it's just reading and writing, I need because I'm
- 5:55pretty. don't listen to people but I have to sort of they have
- 5:58to speak slower and after showed up and I have to sort of give
- 6:01them this look Yeah. I okay, I had the, I had the
- 6:08same problem in Estonia, like if people spoke at a reasonable
- 6:12Pace, sometimes I can understand every single word, it was really
- 6:15weird. Like because it do you have this
- 6:19thing where like you won't necessarily like translate in
- 6:23your head but you just know what they're saying.
- 6:25You know what they mean? Yeah sometimes when my dad's
- 6:29boss speaks German I can sort of use some of the Dutch words to
- 6:34sort of just go And flip it into German and then I'm like, okay,
- 6:37but I can't say anything because I don't know German.
- 6:41Hey, there are similarities. I must say when you speak the
- 6:44language was, I learnt German at school and stuff.
- 6:46So like when I hear Dutch, it sounds like a mixture of German
- 6:51in English and then something I can't quite put my finger on.
- 6:55But there's other there's other languages that like I think
- 6:58Danish is kind of like that as well.
- 7:00Like very like the Belgian Flemish because that's the
- 7:03mission of induction French. Yep.
- 7:08When I said that my child can actually do cool.
- 7:12Well, her family as she was born in the Netherlands, but a
- 7:15family. Yeah, her name is mcclarty,
- 7:17lemons. Until a man's is typical Belgian
- 7:21name. Cool.
- 7:23What are some? Make me a waffle.
- 7:26What our standards wasn't. What a standard.
- 7:29Like Dutch names. Like everyday names for duck.
- 7:34You get a lot of And I'm trying to think of the boss boss boss
- 7:45boss, boss Army, but suck me. No but I mean, in terms of I
- 7:53don't know about first names because actually you get a lot
- 7:58of Brigitte, Brigitte stricter. Oh, isn't that French name
- 8:03Brigitte? But again, But like Bridget,
- 8:08it's like Bridget, you get a lot of Brushy toothbrush, L where
- 8:12heat? There's a lot of Raji like Roger
- 8:18Reggie was yeah. Okay.
- 8:21Interesting. Like art.
- 8:22But one of my friends is called Rush our or SJ rush.
- 8:28But in terms of last names, I've said the most popular one that
- 8:31I've seen about is the answer. Yeah.
- 8:37All right, let's bring it back to coffee'd for a second.
- 8:40I just want to ask what it's like in the Netherlands, because
- 8:42I don't know if you've been keeping up in the UK but it's a
- 8:45bit fucking stupid at the moment.
- 8:48We think bringing back that no more than six people thing.
- 8:52Yeah, they've brought it back but here's the issue for that.
- 8:55Right. Is that a I mean schools?
- 8:59First of all, it's schools are open.
- 9:01You have classes full of like 30 or more kids.
- 9:06That immediately Trump's over your rule of not having more
- 9:09than six people, in one particular area.
- 9:11So, mmm, secondly, they've got this thing where they call it.
- 9:17Eat out to help out which just an aside, I think it's hilarious
- 9:21as a tagline. That's that's it.
- 9:23That's it. That's not really peachy.
- 9:26Maybe it's, maybe it's my dirty mind, but the first time I heard
- 9:29that I was like that hilarious. But no, but in all seriousness,
- 9:31though, it seemed like a cool concept, like, you know, get
- 9:34out. Yeah.
- 9:35Okay. Money for my girlfriend over
- 9:36now. Hey, listen the government
- 9:40recommends. It helping, we're hoping the
- 9:44economy guys were helping Society, okay?
- 9:48Mean, it is a, it is just another reason to stay at home.
- 9:51I mean, you know better, it also isn't as though it does, it
- 9:54helps local businesses and it's designed as a concept to help
- 10:00Society, right? I get it right, but instead of
- 10:04blaming it on, you know, I did this in a video basically.
- 10:08Recently, I said, instead of looking at things like you know,
- 10:11the fact that, you know, we've got this scheme, which basically
- 10:16encourages people to actively, spend time in closed areas where
- 10:21lots of people are being, you know, potentially catching the
- 10:27virus or being surrounded by it, right?
- 10:31That's number one. Number two, you're actively
- 10:33encouraging people to do that. You're urging people to instead
- 10:37of isolate or stay away from people who are encouraging
- 10:40people to go out there and, you know, mingle with other people.
- 10:44So you're strengthening the chances of catching the virus or
- 10:48spreading it and then there's all these other things like
- 10:52movie, theaters, opening and stuff.
- 10:53And don't get me wrong, where I sit on this, is that I think all
- 10:56of these things can be done and done in a sensible way.
- 11:01But I don't think it's fair. Like the government is basically
- 11:05I said, oh, it's the full of all young people that we've had to
- 11:08go back into, you know, regress, back into this sort of secondary
- 11:12lockdown situation. It's because they're going out
- 11:14and, and, and fraternizing in big groups, and that's the
- 11:18reason. And it's like, I'm not
- 11:21completely disagreeing. I've seen some of that in
- 11:23Manchester. I've seen that in London, I've
- 11:25seen that in all sorts of places, so, it does happen, but
- 11:28to completely pin it on young, people is just be us.
- 11:31Like, it's not. Do you know what I mean?
- 11:33Especially like. Schools opening is a government
- 11:37initiative. They pushed that they said we
- 11:39want schools to be open again. We won't, you know, kids to be
- 11:43in his classroom. Generates this stupid other day.
- 11:46I just think it's a logical person, but you're blaming kids
- 11:50for being kids. You mean, obviously, obviously
- 11:53kids want to go out and want to have fun?
- 11:55And I want to, you know, go down to the town and mmm, hang around
- 12:00with each other, but the fact that we can't do it, that's
- 12:03weird where the Only generation that this has happened to, I
- 12:08don't think there's been any other.
- 12:09I mean, not unless we're talking about the black plague, but This
- 12:14is the first time a global pandemic has ruined part of our
- 12:20childhoods. See the thing is as well.
- 12:22I think people because I said this to my mom actually on the
- 12:25phone. Just before we started, the
- 12:29podcast that, you know, more people would take this lockdown
- 12:33seriously, if the rules didn't contradict each other, you're
- 12:37not a bit like. So if you say one thing, and
- 12:39then you're doing another and people look at that, even young
- 12:42people, young people are They're not idiots.
- 12:44They're gonna look at that like well I can do whatever the fuck
- 12:47I want them. Because, you know, your rules
- 12:48are bullshit and they don't make any sense.
- 12:50Doing if you have like a blanket rule, where it's like, okay, you
- 12:54just can't go anywhere. Just, I know it's extreme but
- 12:56like, you know, you just can't leave right then everyone
- 12:59understands that. And if everyone's following it,
- 13:01then it's probably going to be okay.
- 13:03And you're going to have minor problems, but the fact that
- 13:07they've had all these different contradictory rules, like, okay,
- 13:12you know, they said, like, oh, you have to Wear masks when you
- 13:15ever you go into stores now. But then they were talking about
- 13:18people, traveling on public transport, don't have to wear
- 13:20masks and it's like well what's the point of wearing a mask in
- 13:24one medium or area? But they're not wearing it in
- 13:26another, where people mix. It's ludicrous.
- 13:29And that's I feel the story at least in the UK of the
- 13:34government's response and failure.
- 13:36It's not so much necessarily about them acting too late or
- 13:40putting measures in place. It's the fact that they put
- 13:42contradictory measures in place. All the time that this leaves
- 13:45the whole public thinking. Well, what the fuck?
- 13:48Like I guess I just got to look out for myself and use my brain
- 13:51and be sensible with this, but ultimately, I don't know what
- 13:55the situation is. But the tricky part of it is
- 13:57that, you know, now they're introducing things like fines
- 14:00and stuff. So if you're in a group of more
- 14:02than six people, you apparently get fined like 100 pounds or
- 14:05something. And I know this in the beginning
- 14:07was a thing that happened or that least, they touch.
- 14:10They spoke about. I don't think it was actually, I
- 14:12didn't hear about any This is Rose.
- 14:14Yeah. Actually you know and acted on
- 14:16but it's something that is obviously designed to scare
- 14:21people and stop people from doing that.
- 14:23But the reality what you see is very different, from what the
- 14:27government says gentleman. Like if I go into Manchester
- 14:30City Centre, not many people are wearing a mask.
- 14:34It just feels like any other day of the year.
- 14:36Like is though, there's not even a pandemic going on and I'm not
- 14:39trying to shit on people here. I'm just saying that like That's
- 14:42that's how people are reacting to it and I think that you would
- 14:46see everyone wearing a mask in places like Manchester and
- 14:49London, if the rules were actually logical and didn't
- 14:53contradict each other and just were watertight so to speak.
- 14:58Yeah, my biggest problem with it is is I mean, okay.
- 15:04Fair enough, you have to wear a mask on public transport over
- 15:08here at least over here in Germany.
- 15:11You have to wear a mask on public transport.
- 15:13You have to wear a mask in a store.
- 15:16You have to wear a mask If you're sort of at risk.
- 15:20Well, I think that you just don't go out, but the thing is,
- 15:24is I saw on the bus had, you know, they have those screens
- 15:28that sort of tell you the stops that are coming up.
- 15:30And yeah, it will give you some sort of news, it said.
- 15:34Let up, which is like, yeah, watch out, not wearing your mask
- 15:41in Germany. Can give you a fine of like 150
- 15:44Euros or something, because the, because the limbach liner the
- 15:49bus that I get, it goes from Maastricht.
- 15:53Which is the city that I go to school in.
- 15:56Yeah, into to Arkin, which goes into Germany.
- 16:00Oh wow. So if the bus cuts into Germany,
- 16:03they have to tell you yet, you can't get a find in the
- 16:06Netherlands, for not wearing a mask.
- 16:07But if you're in Germany and you're not wearing a mask, you
- 16:10could get a fine. I think that actually, I think
- 16:12you have to wear a mask on public transport regardless, but
- 16:16I think it's more strict in Germany than it is in the
- 16:18Netherlands. They're strict about everything.
- 16:20I was having a chat with some guys.
- 16:23Except except speeding tickets except speeding tickets?
- 16:28Yeah. I mean, they have to fucking off
- 16:29the bone. We can go up to like 200 miles
- 16:31an hour. So that doesn't surprise me if
- 16:34you like driving Germany likes you.
- 16:38Yeah. But that's strict about
- 16:39everything except because it Dad that there's a country that I
- 16:44know with the least expensive. Speeding tickets.
- 16:48So, if, if we get a speeding ticket, we have to pray it in
- 16:53Germany. Recently, England, Belgium,
- 16:57we're screwed German German. He's like this with everything
- 16:59that one of my fat Meats. Who's from Romania told me that
- 17:02apparently, for things like torrenting, you can get a fine
- 17:07even to this day of up to like 20,000 Euros, believe that
- 17:13Because I thought a couple of hundred.
- 17:15Okay, that's kind of annoying, but it's not that bad but 20,000
- 17:19that's insane. What?
- 17:22Whoa, what would you even have to be doing to not be too like
- 17:26to not get arrested and be doing something?
- 17:28So serious that you get 20,000 pounds or he was saying that it
- 17:32was to do with distribution. So what happened was this person
- 17:36that he knew that got this, right?
- 17:39He actually got like something from like Warner Media or that
- 17:43the Homeowners. And then he had to basically
- 17:47contest it appear that and he won obviously because he wasn't
- 17:51trying to distribute her and then it got a lesson.
- 17:55But I think it was still something like 5K, which is
- 17:58ridiculous. But I mean, I don't know, man.
- 18:02I mean these days, you know, I know certain countries and it
- 18:06gives a shit like in Estonia. I remembered asking people like
- 18:09is it bad to torrent and people just laugh at me like no one
- 18:12cares. Piracy is shit everybody,
- 18:16everybody Pirates stuff. Yeah, but he's pirated something
- 18:21in the past. I remember my grandpa used to
- 18:23burn CDs to get movies for me and I'd what, and I'd watch a
- 18:29cinema recorded copy of friggin Over the Hedge or something, I
- 18:32never realized this actually. But yeah, I must have broken.
- 18:35What? Broken, the law, quite a lot
- 18:37when I was a teen because burning CDs was very common back
- 18:40and back when I was at, when I was your age, when I was
- 18:42teenager. So like, We didn't have
- 18:44streaming websites, we only had like, I think iTunes and apple
- 18:50music, that kind of shit, but basically, like if we wanted,
- 18:55okay? So this was like, I think either
- 18:57just before the iPod or around that time but they were really
- 19:00expensive. So not everyone had them.
- 19:01So you had like your choice was carry around a CD player or we
- 19:05got a Walkman or have a shit. Those.
- 19:08Yeah. Or named it with the read the
- 19:10trip. Yeah.
- 19:12And you do you have an MP3 Well, where you'd basically have a
- 19:18very limited. Maybe you could have 100 songs
- 19:20on there. So you have to choose very
- 19:21carefully. What you'd want on there, and
- 19:22you'd always like, constantly change the songs that you have
- 19:25on there, right? So there's a lot of Hassle and
- 19:27effort, but it was kind of cool because it meant that, you know,
- 19:29you had this small thing you carry around like eventually I
- 19:31got iPod Classic and that was I still to this day.
- 19:34It's the only Apple product that I'll say is I had one of those?
- 19:38No, I had one of those. I had a I'm not sure if it was
- 19:41like an iPod classic but it He's like a very small like iPod and
- 19:47you had to spin the thing and it was green.
- 19:51It was a green iPod and you had the like yep.
- 19:53Like if you wanted to go down your list of songs.
- 19:55You have to like go clockwise on this.
- 19:58Like sounds like an iPod Nano. I think that rings.
- 20:03A bell polygraph that you went. It's like if I want to go down a
- 20:07list, you had to like do this sort of motion, a clockwise
- 20:10motion, it's going back like before Rule of that stuff.
- 20:15When it was just the CDs situation, I would like burn
- 20:20stuff to see these. Just like, you know, Generations
- 20:22before headline, burnt stuff to tapes, you know, it was the same
- 20:25thing, it took forever, but I did it and I was terrible at
- 20:31this as well as I'm better. Now, like, if you ask me, like
- 20:33I'll make me a CD or a playlist. A lot of dance tracks.
- 20:36I could easily do that and it will flow nicely right.
- 20:38But back then. I had no idea that I just put my
- 20:41favorite songs on there. So be like, Bring Me The
- 20:43Horizon. Horizon and then it'd be like, I
- 20:45don't know, Linkin Park and then Metallica and then a Slipknot
- 20:48song and then like Cannibal Corpse and then a bunch of
- 20:52metalcore bands. And then maybe like some pop
- 20:54song, it was like all over the shop but it was like my only way
- 20:58of having like, some resemblance of what we have now where you
- 21:02can just Shuffle. Like I wish we'd had back then
- 21:05what we have now because it was that stuff like that.
- 21:08I don't miss it. So it was been one of my pet
- 21:11peeves. So one of my pet peeves is spot.
- 21:13Phi, y. Okay, fair enough.
- 21:16You have adverts on the free version, but why can you only
- 21:21skip six times? I never listened to a playlist
- 21:24straight through. I always skip a couple of times
- 21:27to find a song, I wanna listen to it.
- 21:29That precise moment. And then fair enough, people
- 21:32could just say yeah, but you should just make a playlist that
- 21:35you have, you you like all of the songs in?
- 21:37Yeah, I do. But this is a song for every
- 21:40kind of time. I agree with you.
- 21:43And this is why I have like, so many playlists for like,
- 21:47different genres, different Vibes, moods decades, like you
- 21:52name it, right? But I just have premium and I
- 21:56often do the thickest part. If I say this much, they're very
- 22:00good. In terms of you just want to
- 22:01deactivate and reactivate your account.
- 22:03Like, you people do it all the time and they accommodate that.
- 22:05So, it's quite useful in that sense.
- 22:08It's only like, I think even 999 a month, sometimes it's Us, but
- 22:14it's like, it's okay. And I think that, you know, you
- 22:18don't, you get the skippable thing, no adverse that's useful
- 22:21and not annoying but also you've got this option of like how
- 22:24getting to download the music so you can download the music say
- 22:29like a playlist to your phone and then listen to it offline
- 22:33without fucking our Sonica. Advert for the shit.
- 22:37Yeah, but the thing is, is I have enough data so that I'm
- 22:40never really offline unless I need to catch up Flight is some
- 22:44well, go on the ship and then that there that is useful.
- 22:47But no, I wish you could like I wish there was like a like a
- 22:52selector of the premium features that you want, for example, the
- 22:57the default bundle 999, you get unlimited skips.
- 23:01You can listen offline and I think I said that's it.
- 23:06Yeah, that's it. So that's all I wanted.
- 23:09To be honest, I don't really care if you wanted to take away.
- 23:13The offline ability that, that will go from 999 2499 and then I
- 23:19would go great because then I could because then I can just
- 23:22listen up. I think Skip as much as I want.
- 23:25But I don't really need to be offline.
- 23:27So I'll just have one feature and it's cheaper.
- 23:30I agree with you. Tiered systems are good, like,
- 23:34on a side note, I WWE the wrestling company is talking
- 23:38about doing that because at the moment, they have like a blanket
- 23:40like 999 deal, but they're talking about having a tiered
- 23:43system. System where you would have like
- 23:45yeah 299 gives gets you a certain access to certain things
- 23:48599 has this. You know, it's the sensible
- 23:52thing because not everyone can afford, you know, the top top
- 23:55thing and not everyone wants to have the top top thing.
- 23:57Sometimes I know it's pretty long.
- 23:59It's like yeah, precisely are perks and shit.
- 24:03Yeah, because for example, I think like four, five months
- 24:10ago, I chose to donate too, modest to Pelican, he's a gamer,
- 24:18mix gaming videos, but I got the one way he would follow me on
- 24:22Twitter and we could have conversations from one above.
- 24:26That was to get a free mug, but I was like, no, really, I don't
- 24:30really need a mug but tip. Yeah.
- 24:34Tiered systems Aren't really flawed at all because you can
- 24:38choose exactly what you want. What?
- 24:41How long you want to and how much you want to pay?
- 24:45Hmm, I don't really see any flaws in them.
- 24:48It's a good idea. I agree.
- 24:53I mean, obviously everything needs adverts.
- 24:56So I mean, I know why they have adverts on the free version
- 24:59because they need to make money. But I mean, if you, if you, if
- 25:03you pay, then you kind of given them the money.
- 25:06So they're like, okay if I know I gotta say though, like I, I
- 25:09can't stand that fucking that advert shit, that drives me
- 25:13nuts. Like I'd rather pay pay the
- 25:16money and just Skip and do whatever the hell I want.
- 25:20Spotify person. I think it's great.
- 25:22Sometimes I run out of sometimes when I'm going out of Skips and
- 25:25there's like nothing in the playlists that are plain
- 25:27anything good. I just go on Soundcloud and just
- 25:29listen to whatever on there. There is one way to get around
- 25:32it or if with Spotify if that happens I think you can like go
- 25:40to a new playlist and it will let you skip a little bit before
- 25:43it starts doing that band thing again.
- 25:45Where I think, I don't know I used to be able to do that
- 25:49sometimes Because I put a foot one playlist on.
- 25:51I'm like, no, I don't really like that.
- 25:54And then I don't have any skip, so I go to a different playlist.
- 25:57That's not good either. No, no.
- 25:59All right. I'm just going to go with some
- 26:01fellow YouTuber. Something, what do you think
- 26:04about YouTube music? So obviously or YouTube premium
- 26:09because I don't know much about it but what I know is it gets
- 26:11you access to those like premium premium content that's only
- 26:15available on certain platforms. And also the big I suppose the
- 26:19biggest English that you can listen to you to any video,
- 26:23Whatever, without the app closing, which is kind of a
- 26:28deal-breaker obviously. Yes, you can.
- 26:30You can sort of lock your phone. And yeah, yeah.
- 26:34Yeah. Because I thought about it and
- 26:35then I saw how much it was and I was like, that is not fucking
- 26:38worth it, but but they've been trying to justify supposedly
- 26:43been trying to do the whole Netflix originals concept of
- 26:46making their own content, but everything I've seen, right?
- 26:49They'll Lise like, you know, a series for free.
- 26:55So you can see like one series. I think that the seidman did it
- 26:58for instance, they have that the seidman show.
- 27:00And you can see, you can see, I think you still can can see like
- 27:02the first episode of the first season and then you've got to
- 27:05pay premium to see the rest, right?
- 27:08But like, even the sidemen kind of said, like, yeah, you know,
- 27:11it's all right, but it's not really like us.
- 27:13And like I looked at the way it was filmed and what they were
- 27:16doing and like it looks like fun.
- 27:18But it, I agree like I think that Inside men Sundays in like
- 27:21miles per hour and there's way less production, quality going
- 27:25into it. You know, you don't have all of
- 27:26that celebrities and shit, but like the concept is good and the
- 27:30content is good, and I think that's the key.
- 27:34Like, for instance, David blame right now is has some series on
- 27:37premium. And yeah, I saw that when I was
- 27:40opening YouTuber for, like, I don't want to show it because I
- 27:42haven't seen it, but at the same time, like nothing about it.
- 27:45Draws me in, I don't see anything groundbreaking by see
- 27:49it plastered everywhere. We're over my YouTube, right?
- 27:51Because I'm going to see it's being advertised but I just
- 27:55haven't seen or heard anyone talk about anything positive
- 27:59about premium. It's not to say that.
- 28:01Like I've heard people shitting when it either but I haven't
- 28:03really heard anyone going to call?
- 28:05Yeah, you got to get premium like it's so good.
- 28:07You know where as you hear that with Netflix you hear people
- 28:09saying like oh yeah stranger things were so good or are you
- 28:13did you did you see that episode of poor Jack?
- 28:16Oh yeah. That was a good one.
- 28:17Yeah. But Yeah get your premium.
- 28:22No no thanks. I mean if by chance like YouTube
- 28:28works out for me than five years or something.
- 28:30I have two million subscribers and money that I can swim in
- 28:34like mr. Scrooge, then sure, why not.
- 28:37But I'd like to discover it, I'd like to just find out what's
- 28:40available but mean I don't see why not.
- 28:46But the same time like you said not really worth the money.
- 28:49You don't get that many perks. It mean.
- 28:51Okay. You can close your phone when
- 28:52watching a video. But what's the point in watching
- 28:54the video and YouTube and anims far as YouTube music goes have
- 28:58Spotify SoundCloud and mixer so again, no.
- 29:06Not for me. Not only should we start with
- 29:10the questions? Yeah, go, unless let's get the
- 29:13questions out of the way. Let's do this.
- 29:15All right, so I'm being interviewed for once on my own
- 29:19podcast. How well-being, and how about
- 29:23them apples? Alright, so the very first
- 29:26question, of course, how are you?
- 29:27How are you today? Oh, my I'll be, I'll be honest
- 29:31with you. I'm nursing a bit of a hangover,
- 29:35but I feel good. I feel very good right now,
- 29:39because I actually smoked weed for the first time, in many,
- 29:42many years. And basically, we were having
- 29:46like a welcoming for two new housemates that we have for,
- 29:50like a month. And, you know, we just wanted to
- 29:54greet them have beards chat, you know, just Say hello, right?
- 29:58And then you ended up smoking some hooker.
- 30:00Well, they had some stuff and I was like, ooh, and I like,
- 30:03normally I just bought now, but I was in a good mood, you know,
- 30:07not too drunk, I something new. Well, that's not new.
- 30:10I mean, I did drugs a lot back in the day Zoe.
- 30:14It's like it's more like, get out.
- 30:16Get out of the 90s. Chris.
- 30:17It's a bit, right? I was a kid in the nineties.
- 30:21I'll just fucking loud. I bet.
- 30:26Remember the 90s I remember. Little sit like I can remember
- 30:32going to school in the 90s. I remember television watching
- 30:39certain programs like the all of this weird stuff.
- 30:42I remember like I can remember coming home from school when I
- 30:45was like 6 or 7 years old turning on the TV and it would
- 30:49be like there's this crappy Australian program called
- 30:52neighbors, right? And I don't know why it's
- 30:56popular. It's like a soap in Australia,
- 30:58but it would had a huge appeal in the UK for Years.
- 31:02And so that would be on and basically it would come on about
- 31:043:00 4:00 p.m. and I would normally just have it on in the
- 31:08background waiting for like the good programs that coming up
- 31:11because the lineup on bbc2 in the 90s and the early 2000s was
- 31:17fucking the lip be no seriously. It was The Fresh Prince of
- 31:21Bel-Air always and then I think it was like heard that's good
- 31:25it's excellent. It stands out even especially
- 31:28today actually The Simpsons did always be a Simpsons episode.
- 31:32There was occasionally robot wars, if you remember, that was
- 31:36good shit. I ever heard of Robert was where
- 31:39is that the remote control robots that fight?
- 31:43Yeah, I know it. Oh, so good.
- 31:46Oh, so good. And he was even great, it was
- 31:48really good in the beginning, because Jerry Jeremy Clarkson,
- 31:50used to present it and he was already a huge, he would so
- 31:56picture this, right? He's walking around being him,
- 31:59you know, taking the piss. Right.
- 32:01But like, you got so many of these people, like, they would
- 32:04do this pre-match. I guess you could call it like
- 32:06interview thing where they would walk around the warehouse where
- 32:10everyone's like, working on their Bots and shit and they're
- 32:13like, you know, I guess hyping up before the fight that.
- 32:15Yeah, you know, we've got this extra piercer that we're going
- 32:18to destroy razor with because they had names for the body.
- 32:22Yeah. Razor versus Scorpion or some
- 32:26shit like that but it was it was get like thunder flower versus
- 32:30sausage. Language.
- 32:31Sometimes it was like that. Some of them were really out
- 32:33there in like had weird, but it was fun.
- 32:36It. I don't know.
- 32:37It was it was a lot of fun, and he would be a, this is, this is
- 32:39my robot biscuit tin called out because he's made out of a
- 32:43biscuit tin. My grandma is not very happy
- 32:46with me. So I need to win this fight so I
- 32:47can give her a biscuit tin Buck. It was really cool.
- 32:50Have to tell her to watch your fingers when she's going in for
- 32:52a, get a biscuit because you know, it was really good with
- 32:54Jeremy Clarkson. When he when he would interview
- 32:56these guys and it would often be like some 50 year old bloke.
- 33:00His son, Let's have it, which is kind of sweet.
- 33:02They like he would, he would just rip them out.
- 33:04He'd be like, you know, so it's always going to win any better,
- 33:09they just rip the rip apart, the guy and sort of be like, what
- 33:12are you doing? That way, we play that it was
- 33:15almost like he wanted to say, like, why are you wasting your
- 33:19time on this shit? But he didn't mean it was that
- 33:23kind of like, but he did it in an entertaining way and he, you
- 33:26know, it was fun and like the sort of classic Jeremy And what
- 33:31are you doing? No, yeah, yeah, no.
- 33:33No, no. Don't be stupid James.
- 33:35Yeah, precisely. I remember also, they had these
- 33:40house robots that were quite interesting.
- 33:42They were like, oh yeah, the ones that would come out if the
- 33:45fight was gone on for too long. Yeah.
- 33:47They were like supposed to be like, I don't know.
- 33:51Okay, so if I remember correctly, some of them would
- 33:54just be in certain Corners. If you got too close to a
- 33:56particular Corner, they would just like, destroy you, but then
- 33:59they also had this thing. Where I think if you like, like
- 34:03one of them was like if you fell in if you went into a particular
- 34:06area like one of them had like a flame for on the top so it like
- 34:09push you in there and set your bottom fire.
- 34:12And there were other ones I think it was to do with that
- 34:15traps or other things and I can't really remember exactly.
- 34:19But they would be pulled out for specific reasons.
- 34:21And it was cool because all the different robots had different
- 34:23gonna. He's gonna clearly look this up
- 34:25because this is this is actually really interesting.
- 34:29I want to I want to know No. Oh yeah.
- 34:31Robot wars house robots. I never thought I would be
- 34:34talking about robot wars on my podcast.
- 34:36The phone book. Yeah.
- 34:39Well that's what you get for inviting a sixteen-year-old.
- 34:42I'm surprised. I'm surprised you saw.
- 34:44You saw it though. I suppose that the program has
- 34:47got a lot of lingam longevity because I mean, it started.
- 34:52Late 90's, early 2000's and I believe it's still going on in
- 34:55other countries. I don't think it's going on in
- 34:57the UK anymore, but the house robot was set of robots on robot
- 35:01was doable. Go figure the acted as
- 35:05additional hazards for competitive robots in the arena.
- 35:08They were do usually occupy one or more cook Corner, patrol
- 35:12zones and either attack competitors, if they entered the
- 35:14cpc's or became immobilize after which they were free to roam the
- 35:18arena. So if one competitor went into
- 35:21the corner and then the house robot killed it.
- 35:24He could then go back and go for the other one if you want.
- 35:28Yeah. For house robots debuted in
- 35:31season one. Dead metal.
- 35:34Solitude. Yes, I remember Matilda Matilda
- 35:38was a tiny one that looked really silly and like
- 35:40unassuming. And if you had a really big bot,
- 35:42you could actually take on. Like I sometimes saw the house
- 35:45box would get destroyed by bigger Bots, but rarely did that
- 35:48happen. Like it was only when you had
- 35:50like box like Matilda would actually there would be some
- 35:54sort of a chance whereas there was was that one sir killer?
- 35:58Is that one? Yeah, these with more joining
- 36:03them. As The original series
- 36:04progressed, these are just a circle a lot, Mister cycle,
- 36:07Growler and Cassius Chrome. Don't remember that.
- 36:10But I remember Circle a lot because it was huge and it had
- 36:13like some ways other than season to the cycle season six Growler
- 36:17season series 6 and Cassius Chrome was Series 7 Circle.
- 36:21A lot was the best one. So it was huge.
- 36:23And it had like a very, it was weird.
- 36:26Like, full the most of these robots were really tiny.
- 36:29I'm not sure if you can see that at all.
- 36:30Yeah, I can see it. It's good but it's like it has a
- 36:35whole body and like it's huge whereas a lot of the Bots were
- 36:40really tiny they'd off he's got he's got like tank wheels and
- 36:44like a knight armor sort of base and Aspire and loads of armor
- 36:48all over them but like your typical bot.
- 36:51Would generally be small like a square shape or a circle at very
- 36:56small. Like and like Bots like soaked
- 36:58in a lot could literally just ride over them, but their work.
- 37:02Huge trucks. Then they were a few that would
- 37:05like, really I remember there was just one bought that for
- 37:07many years was like the champion.
- 37:09I think it was called razor and it was literally just a small
- 37:13kind of box with like a big massive metal piercing tool and
- 37:21it would literally as it would basically clamp you and then
- 37:25like force the yeah. There you go.
- 37:27You can see it. Yeah, it would clamp you and put
- 37:29the pincer into your into your body when I was sick.
- 37:32Searching this talk chassis. When I was putting this up, one
- 37:35of the recommendations was raised up versus Soquel a lot.
- 37:39So I take it. You went against Circle a lot.
- 37:41Wow, I got a son. That's that that's gotta take
- 37:46some balls to go up against one of the house.
- 37:48Robots. That literally looks like a
- 37:50tank. Well, like I said sometimes they
- 37:52would do that sometimes like you you would have people do it for
- 37:55a laugh and see what happens and sometimes they would beat the
- 37:57house, Paula Sims got funny. I think if so kill a lot was to
- 38:02get destroyed. I think what would you even do
- 38:06from that point? You'd have to have a pretty
- 38:09powerful but to make that happen that's what would that with the
- 38:13game. Just start with the like, did
- 38:15you just kill Circle a lot? I mean, yeah, yeah, it was easy
- 38:21kill there. Never was always was good.
- 38:23There was also. What else was there?
- 38:29There was a bunch of Star Trek. That was how I got into Star
- 38:31Trek Star Trek, the Next Generation, they would do
- 38:34replays of that. Obviously I got I became a much
- 38:37bigger fan as I got older, but it was fun to watch as a kid as
- 38:41well because it's just kind of weird and out there.
- 38:43But I sweat that BBC to line up for many years.
- 38:47I mean, you've had, at least 4 hours, 4 hours of good program
- 38:51in there, every week. I think it's switched.
- 38:54I think it's switched to Nickelodeon because I think I
- 38:56remember, that's what I wash robot was on.
- 38:59Oh really? Wow.
- 39:00Okay, that's weird. But I mean it's like if if
- 39:05there's a good day of Television because the problem is with now
- 39:09is most people just watch Netflix or YouTube because
- 39:12there's never anything good on TV.
- 39:14Yeah, it's true. And that's true.
- 39:16Now, I mean, occasion of this Top Gear, and on Comedy Central,
- 39:19the South Park Family Guy Bob's Burgers, things like that.
- 39:23But other than that, I mean, they don't even play in the same
- 39:26order. So if you're on season 2, they
- 39:28Shona episode from season 3 or something like well.
- 39:32No well no I mean that's a bit unfair because normally they
- 39:35just start like okay, let's say like friends for instance if
- 39:38they're doing a friend's re one they'll always start from the
- 39:40beginning and you but though the problem with that is that they
- 39:45will be played same episode like five times a day before they get
- 39:48to the next one but they normally go through it.
- 39:52I just to make sure you don't miss it.
- 39:54Yeah if you're where you are today and then come home I mean
- 39:58you You watch on Netflix. Just stop messing about.
- 40:01I think my it there is this weird kind of thing with TV
- 40:04though that I've never been able to explain.
- 40:06It's like a movie almost feels like more special and more fun
- 40:11if it's on TV versus if you've just chosen it, Janome for some
- 40:15reasons because it doesn't, it doesn't, it doesn't take into
- 40:18account. Like, if I want to watch a James
- 40:21Bond movie because I remember one, I don't think it was
- 40:25Christmas, but I think I remember one summer, then what
- 40:28they played. The James Bond movies, every
- 40:32Friday, every Friday night from 10:00 till whatever, time the
- 40:36movie finished. Mmm.
- 40:38And they just went through and went through and watching them
- 40:42on TV with the ads. It was better than if I put it
- 40:46on on Netflix. Because okay, there's a break,
- 40:48I'm going to go to the toilet, get a drink, get some peanut
- 40:51M&Ms, and I'll be back and then I'll sit back down and then the
- 40:55closing part of the other Pokemon movie would start ago.
- 40:59Chris. Yeah.
- 41:01What why is that? Why is that interesting or so
- 41:04not interested. Why is that more preferable?
- 41:06Because when you really think about it it's not it's much more
- 41:10convenient to like yeah pause it and you can you still can't you
- 41:13can pause TV and shit but but not having not having that like
- 41:18exact pause inability. I mean because I don't like
- 41:20pause and live television because that is not live
- 41:22television anymore. Because there's a fair firfer.
- 41:26I don't like pausing actual TV. It's weird.
- 41:30I like it. I like it on just like climbing.
- 41:32I don't like it on live, like, like a live sports event or so,
- 41:35I think that's defeats the point, but maybe it's useful.
- 41:39I mean, if you genuinely needed to like and you didn't want to
- 41:42miss anything, then you've got that option now.
- 41:44Whereas you, yeah, we we set the MotoGP to record if we have to
- 41:49go out. So like, if well, we'll watch up
- 41:51to a certain point and then if I have to go out Set to record
- 41:55from when we stopped watching it.
- 41:57No, I'll just record the entire get race.
- 42:03Yeah, anyway, you mind, if I scoot into please sub, s the
- 42:08SEC. We're in the second category.
- 42:10See, I like it because I don't have to do the research for
- 42:12once. I didn't either, but you did 25
- 42:17minutes. That's that's, I wasn't
- 42:18expecting it. I thought we just have like a
- 42:20couple of questions and that would be it.
- 42:21I wasn't expecting a whole segment.
- 42:23No, no. I I did my homework, okay?
- 42:26So this is the backstory section to I'm worried, okay?
- 42:34Not not. Not too deep, okay?
- 42:38Phil Collins would be impressed, it's not in too deep.
- 42:41So in terms of city, where are you from London?
- 42:48See, you are from London and Manchester.
- 42:51Yeah. Okay.
- 42:53And what was it? Like, growing up that What's it
- 42:56like growing up in London? When I was a teenager, it was.
- 43:01It was some of the best times in my life.
- 43:04I've said this many times before, but yeah I loved I loved
- 43:07growing up in London because you know, I didn't live exactly.
- 43:11In London, I lived in a suburb in West, London or Northwest
- 43:14London. I should say an area called
- 43:17Hillingdon. Very beloved to me, even to this
- 43:20day, like there are certain areas shoutout to ruislip, not
- 43:24Foothills. Those areas like Nero my school,
- 43:27where and stuff. There's really no about
- 43:30beautiful nature around it. I just loved it, loved it.
- 43:35Anyway, I would often go to London, you know, places like
- 43:40Camden Trafalgar Square, Leicester, Square, Camden lock.
- 43:47A bunch of places and this was a time in the 2000s, mid-2000s or
- 43:53whatever, where there was a big divide kind of between people
- 43:59that were into like mainstream stuff and then people that were
- 44:01into like rock and metal because these days everyone's kind of
- 44:04into everything. So I mean you do get people that
- 44:07are like you know I'm a goth or I'm this I'm that but like most
- 44:12people just don't care. Whereas back then there was more
- 44:14of a divided like if you went to Camden Town back then.
- 44:17It was like, there wasn't any mainstream stuff there, or very
- 44:20little, it was very, you know, you'd have like loads of Market
- 44:23stalls with goth jeans or like grunge stuff or I don't know, it
- 44:28was just a different time, different vibe and I loved it.
- 44:32I had a lot of fun. I was into like, you know,
- 44:36skateboarding, so I'd often go skateboarding around various
- 44:39places in London. Like, there's this place called
- 44:41Basics T6, which is like a skate park underneath a bridge.
- 44:47In lab book Grove and it's one of the best skate parts of urban
- 44:52to. It's like all wooden like really
- 44:55nice. It's got a massive vert ramp at
- 44:57the back which is a lot of fun to go into like a professional
- 45:00one as well. And yeah, you know I was just I
- 45:04was happy kind of go. Lucky teenager.
- 45:06You know I would I was into music, I wrote music all the
- 45:10time you know, with my bands that I was in and stuff and I
- 45:14made the most of my teenage years so growing up in Then was
- 45:17kind of an odd, an ideal place for that because it has a bit of
- 45:20everything and I know a shit on London because like, you know,
- 45:23I'm not a fan of living there. But that's because as I became
- 45:26an adult, it changed. So obviously when you're a
- 45:30teenager you don't have responsibilities, you know,
- 45:33London as expensive. Yeah.
- 45:35And this is the thing, it got more and more and more
- 45:38expensive. So, like, even when I was a
- 45:40teen, it was okay, it wasn't like super cheap but it was like
- 45:45reasonable whereas These days I mean it's astronomical and when
- 45:51were talking about things like house prices or even just
- 45:54renting, their travel is a big one.
- 45:59These things just put me off and I worked there as an adult for
- 46:02many years and I was just put off by it.
- 46:05I just there was nothing there that really allowed me to it.
- 46:09There are beautiful parts of London and interesting
- 46:12architecture and there's lots to do but I feel like I don't have
- 46:15a lot of people that agree with me on this that London is a
- 46:17great place to visit but it's not a great place to live
- 46:21necessarily. And like if you if you want to
- 46:23have a good quality of life, there you need to be earning
- 46:26like a really highly paid salary to cover the costs of
- 46:30everything. Like, you could have a good life
- 46:31in London but you need to like work your ass off to get if you
- 46:35know what I mean and that's the trickier part like for me it's
- 46:39not that. I don't want to work hard
- 46:40because I work hard with everything that I do.
- 46:43But I don't want to like You know, pay my full salary and
- 46:47have nothing left and not be able to eat or whatever or did
- 46:52enemy like have very little every month and because I just,
- 46:56I want to have fun. I want to go out and do things.
- 46:58Explore, have holidays, whatever, like I want to live
- 47:03life, have fun, you know? I mean, I don't want to just
- 47:07watch the expression work to live in and I mean, like, I
- 47:10wanna yeah, like, Yeah, and I don't think that work
- 47:13necessarily has to be that Like that either.
- 47:15You know it does depend on the position career that you go for
- 47:20or whatever you know because people.
- 47:23How dare you join yawn when I'm speaking.
- 47:30It's it's me. I don't get it.
- 47:34Oh no. I was schooled grew up in but I
- 47:43think I think it has its I think It suffers from Big C syndrome.
- 47:49If that makes sense because everyone I speak to that talks
- 47:52about like living in Moscow or living in say New York, when
- 47:57they talk about it, it sounds exactly the same to my
- 48:00experiences in London and I think that's just the nature of
- 48:03living in a big city for some people.
- 48:06It's the greatest thing ever and I get it.
- 48:08Like, if you grew up in a small town somewhere and you know,
- 48:11there wasn't much going on, it can be very frustrating.
- 48:14So I first and why it's like really fun to live in a big city
- 48:17for me. I like to have a thing.
- 48:20This is the people who live in the center of like a place.
- 48:24Like, man had. Yeah, most of those people are
- 48:26like, either judges, what is or high-ranking government.
- 48:31People. For example, a lawyer can go
- 48:35from one place in Manhattan where they work to their home.
- 48:40Like, three, four, five blocks away, go up into their massive,
- 48:45Freaking 50th floor, Penthouse and just be chill because they
- 48:50know that, however, much they make their living space is only
- 48:54like, what the 24th of what they are.
- 48:57Yeah, I mean, II think that like generally when it when it comes
- 49:02to where you want to live a particular time, I think it
- 49:06depends where you are at your point at that point in life, you
- 49:09know, like I grew up in London. Anyone that grows up anywhere,
- 49:13you know, you kind of get sick of the place that You were
- 49:15boning because you want to see something different?
- 49:17Jen. I mean, so that's that's a big
- 49:19thing and I always had this bug. Travel bug wanted to explore see
- 49:23other cultures or that stuff. And then, you know, I lived in
- 49:26places like Estonia where it was very small by comparison.
- 49:32Like I was able to see like the whole country within a couple of
- 49:36years and talyn the city, the, the main city, the capital is
- 49:41very small so it's not to say that it gets boring, but it's
- 49:46like, There's a lot less going on, right?
- 49:50I agree because where I live in balls.
- 49:53Hmm, don't get me wrong. I love it.
- 49:56I love the people. I love the architecture.
- 49:59I love literally everything about.
- 50:02It is a big supermarket in the middle.
- 50:05The smaller shop sort of around the outside and along the main
- 50:09road. Hundreds of shops.
- 50:12I mean the hundreds, but you know what?
- 50:13I mean, there's it's a big Main Street.
- 50:16There's Market Days on Tuesday, where all of the Germans,
- 50:19everybody from the town's closed and the on the Dutch side come
- 50:25in the vows to do their shopping.
- 50:27Buying brilliant. Lovely, wonderful.
- 50:30But I mean this this barely any police here.
- 50:35The closest police station is halfway down the friggin Road.
- 50:39There's nothing. There's nothing.
- 50:42I mean, bowels is home to the trail and the punt, which is the
- 50:45highest point in vowels? Oh, so it's a very touristy
- 50:50Place. Mmm, which means you get a lot
- 50:52of belgians. You get a lot of Germans, and
- 50:54obviously you've got a lot of Dutch people, but I want to
- 50:58travel as well. Yeah.
- 51:00Like, but it's not, it's not hard to do that because of the
- 51:04Netherlands is a pretty small place.
- 51:06My advice to you because this is what I've done is to just
- 51:09experience as many different Places and live in them as
- 51:15possible because like, I've lived on like farms for
- 51:18instance, I've lived in the back ass fucking nowhere, where
- 51:22nothing's going on. I've lived in places where, like
- 51:25shits going on all the time, you know, good places, bad places
- 51:28everywhere. And what I would say is it,
- 51:31doing that helps you to understand what you need and
- 51:37when you need it kind of thing, right?
- 51:39So here's a quick example, right?
- 51:41When I was When I went on a holiday with an ex-girlfriend,
- 51:43or I think I was 19, actually, whatever it was, like a holiday.
- 51:48Getaway kind of thing is really sweet.
- 51:50And we went to a place called Devon, right?
- 51:54And if you haven't been to Devon, it's fantastic greatest
- 51:59of custard. Of course.
- 52:01Yeah. No.
- 52:03But they had to have really good quality things that are made
- 52:07fresh lie. There like things like ice cream
- 52:08and stuff and it's by the Sea. It's got all this amazing.
- 52:11Using like history and culture and stuff, but if you're a young
- 52:17person, it's not good. It's just, you know, it's for
- 52:22old people people retiring for people that want to get away
- 52:25from City Life or something. And I genuinely remember
- 52:29thinking this is brilliant, but it's like wrong time.
- 52:32If I came back here when I was like 50 or 60, perfect right
- 52:36now? No, I want to do shit with my
- 52:38life. I want to go places, see the
- 52:40world and I kind of I remember thinking like it's cool that I
- 52:43can think that way at that age, that appreciate it for what it
- 52:47is. But know that it's just
- 52:49something to return to as opposed to like being like oh
- 52:53this sucks, you know, because I think everyone in life, you go
- 52:57through waves you like okay I want to live in a big city for a
- 53:00while. Okay.
- 53:00Now I want to travel for a while.
- 53:02Okay? Now I want to focus on my career
- 53:04so you know I'm going to live in the city, you do this or
- 53:06whatever. Like for me I'm in a position
- 53:09where I just wanted to go back to the UK, I missed the UK, but
- 53:14I didn't want to go to London for the reasons I explained
- 53:17before. And I also kind of thought about
- 53:20the fact that like, I want to live somewhere where stuff is
- 53:24going on, but I have access to like travel around and see
- 53:29culture and like rural stuff as well Countryside, stuff like
- 53:33that. I just kind of want to have a
- 53:36bit of both, you know? And I don't want it to be like,
- 53:40too, insane. Like Manchester is kind of Ideal
- 53:42in that sense because it's a big city.
- 53:44It's it Rivals London in many ways but it's not, it's not like
- 53:50it doesn't have the capacity that London has And that's kind
- 53:53of a big draw for me. It's like, I want to be
- 53:55somewhere where stuff is going on, but I can also escape from
- 53:58things as well and I think the other there's a lot of
- 54:00Industries in Manchester as well because right, there's there's
- 54:04the Salford Keys. We do is actually now I think
- 54:08there's a BBC Center there. I'm like BBC ITV, all that stuff
- 54:12is based there. They film Coronation Street
- 54:14there as well. Yeah, there's that.
- 54:16And then there's Manchester where there's all of these,
- 54:19these offices and shops and things like that.
- 54:22A lot of history behind Manchester and the sense that
- 54:25the Salford Keys used to be where a lot of stuff came in
- 54:28from other countries. And that's the one thing I did
- 54:32listen to in geography because in Manchester is very
- 54:35interesting. I'm just as I live actually, I
- 54:39could probably shake hands with the UK in the sense that I've
- 54:42been to enough places. Mmm.
- 54:44But they were have say, I've had my fill of England and Scotland
- 54:48and things like that. I've been there.
- 54:50I've been reading bourbon at your cabin, the Scarborough up
- 54:52in a try. I've been to places that I
- 54:55didn't even know existed. Yeah, I forgot the name of it.
- 54:59Begins with an A and it's like a Up a lot of like hell's.
- 55:04So it's a very it's very high in the air.
- 55:08It's very high above sea level and it's like just to just a
- 55:13small town it's just got like a hotel in it and some actually
- 55:17don't even think there's many shops.
- 55:20And then that's just sort of it. And then it just goes back down
- 55:23the hill to more pills. But yeah, I mean, where I live
- 55:29is very rural. Looking at my window, I can see
- 55:33a crap ton of trees, and I can see sheep and cows and along
- 55:38Country Road and a farm. And More stuff.
- 55:42And if I look out over that way, there's the sort of town city
- 55:45things like that. And then cool going that way
- 55:49would lead you towards in the Netherlands more and a lot of
- 55:53mirrors and must raked over that way.
- 55:56I'll lead you with the Germany that's about it.
- 55:59There's no oil cities really close by here.
- 56:03Closest would probably be my strict or healer or lunch craft
- 56:08which is a 20 minutes away from me.
- 56:11I think it's everything has a time limit for in terms of like
- 56:15how long a person should be in a place, but everyone is
- 56:17different. You know I've met some people in
- 56:19life who are so perfectly content just staying in like you
- 56:22know, their Hometown for instance and I don't understand
- 56:25it personally but I can appreciate it.
- 56:28You know me I think that you love what you love and if you
- 56:31are happy then just just roll with it and it but like I think
- 56:35it is good roll with it and yeah, but like I think it is
- 56:39important to experience. Other things because if nothing
- 56:42else, even if you don't discover that, you know there's something
- 56:46out there that's different for you.
- 56:48That's better by comparison it at least makes you appreciate
- 56:51like what you do have back home, kind of thing, you know, like me
- 56:54when I lived abroad, there was a lot that I missed about the UK.
- 56:58And so when I did return I kind of it was a good feeling, you
- 57:04know, I mean, after all that time to kind of have that stuff
- 57:07again and I count myself very grateful that I've had that
- 57:12experience in another country and you know that can never be
- 57:15taken away and it's a really cool feeling but one thing I
- 57:20will never work involves never it why what's wrong?
- 57:24I will never work in my hometown because it's so small that
- 57:29there's nothing really here. Work at mean, for example, I
- 57:33want to be an engineer or something to do with all the
- 57:36mechanics. So I'm going to try and find a
- 57:38job in master Exile. Hello, where it's 20 30 minutes
- 57:42away. So I actually travel to work
- 57:46rather than just getting in the car driving five minutes down in
- 57:50a town and then just talk in the car and going to work and then
- 57:54driving all the way back up the hill again and coming to a good
- 57:57point. Actually I do think it's
- 57:59important that a person's work is Because this is one of the
- 58:02things I want to do with my life as well.
- 58:04I want to travel, like, I want to be based in the UK and have a
- 58:08home. That's kind of.
- 58:09My dream is to have a home, a base somewhere that I can be,
- 58:12like, this is home kind of thing, but then I spend all my
- 58:15time, exploring the world, you know, I don't know, acting
- 58:19music, whatever, wherever life takes me kind of thing, and I
- 58:24want that contrast. I think it's very important
- 58:27because that makes you appreciate home more like, if
- 58:29you do everything in your hometown, You can get sick of it
- 58:33and like, home shouldn't be, that home.
- 58:35Should be like, a sanctuary. Something that you and her knee.
- 58:38I'm happy that. I mean, I feel sorry for the
- 58:41people in my school who live in Maastricht, as well as go to
- 58:45school. There.
- 58:46For me when I get into Maastricht, I'm like right
- 58:50school. But when I got on the bus and I
- 58:53come back here and avaaz, I'm like, She made the Vols the real
- 58:58and apparent human I'm home. Yeah I just sort of went into
- 59:03English that I just I just bring this is a thing.
- 59:08Yeah it is but I get I get into the bus station.
- 59:12I would side of the yeah it's called the 50 booty tooch.
- 59:15The do what? Sorry the three kyboot today
- 59:19because over here fries or chips off leeches leeches.
- 59:25Okay. Yeah.
- 59:26So it's called 50 put the fries shop.
- 59:29So, I got off the bus across the road.
- 59:31I got my bicycle, and I sort of just rides what?
- 59:35Well, depends on. If I want to get home fast
- 59:37enough, if I want to go home fast, I'll just go straight up,
- 59:41but I like to ride through the town a little bit, and then
- 59:44turn, right? And then go up this nice sort of
- 59:46Stony Street, and then course, we're done it.
- 59:49It's kind of weird. How everyone is different in
- 59:52that way, because when I was your age, I was the same and I
- 59:54always have been. I love to Plural of rural stuff,
- 59:58I think it's really important, right?
- 59:59But I remember when I was at school, basically to get to
- 1:00:04school I could walk to school and I often did right.
- 1:00:07But in the beginning I would take the bus and the bus took
- 1:00:12about half an hour give or take pre-chilled, you know?
- 1:00:16I mean, but the actual walk from where I lived all the way up to
- 1:00:21the school was probably about an hour, maybe a bit more and it
- 1:00:26was, Is it involved literally walking from one town to another
- 1:00:29then walking all the way up a hill?
- 1:00:31And then going down the hill. And then basically walking into
- 1:00:35a forest, which is kind of crazy because sometimes it would be
- 1:00:37like, at like, you know, winter be like really dark.
- 1:00:41Can't see anything right? Walk through the fire.
- 1:00:45Yeah. Well, you know, I was a idiot
- 1:00:48teenager and it was fun and I was great.
- 1:00:53It was good for exercise and I liked it, it was so much better
- 1:00:55than having To wait around for the bus in the freezing cold or
- 1:00:59like, but what about, but what about those times where you like
- 1:01:02you you were at school and you could not be asked to go home.
- 1:01:06What are you doing that situation?
- 1:01:08I never had that oh you kidding me.
- 1:01:10It can't be asked to go home kissing because sometimes
- 1:01:13because sometimes I'm standing outside of school when I leave
- 1:01:15I'm like I can't be arsed to go home but I can't be.
- 1:01:19I mean here either I had to spit.
- 1:01:22I had times when I wanted to like hang out and maybe like You
- 1:01:27know, I knew I had like loads of work to do or something reason
- 1:01:31that I couldn't go, but like most most days I would either
- 1:01:34hang out with friends after school or I will go
- 1:01:36skateboarding, I'll go skateboarding, pretty much every
- 1:01:40single day after school plus weekends, you know, skateboard
- 1:01:44to, and from school. No, Asian me.
- 1:01:46We weren't really allowed to, but I would just do it anyway
- 1:01:49and get in trouble for it. Well, I think the thing is the
- 1:01:54thing is, is though, that's not it.
- 1:01:56English. Hmm, the problem, you can't take
- 1:02:01your bike on a bus over here because of Corona.
- 1:02:04Hmm. I think.
- 1:02:05Normally at I wish the, but I wish buses of that's why I love
- 1:02:09American buses. Because you walk up to a bus,
- 1:02:12you put your bike on the front of the rack, you strap it in,
- 1:02:14you get on the bus, you pay for your ticket, you go get off,
- 1:02:17take your bike bike, go. But what I'm thinking of doing
- 1:02:22depending on how long I got the school because obviously there's
- 1:02:25the school. To go through after this one
- 1:02:27which is actual College. I'm going to save up and get a
- 1:02:31scooter license and Scoot to school.
- 1:02:37Sound sensible because I mean the bus is cool and all.
- 1:02:41But if I can take myself to school, right?
- 1:02:47You know, I remember when I was at school, there was this, like
- 1:02:51gang, right? That would hang out.
- 1:02:54One more guy. Knows the German lie.
- 1:02:57It was a moped gang. It was a bunch of like, guys,
- 1:03:01that were Eva 1617 like out school age, but weren't doing
- 1:03:07anything with their lives. Right there were, you know,
- 1:03:10literally their life consisted of just driving around, on a
- 1:03:13moped hanging around outside the school.
- 1:03:16They don't go to the school. And they're too old for school
- 1:03:19but they're like the cool kids. I don't know edgy kids or some
- 1:03:22shit but they were literally just sit there trying to look
- 1:03:24hard and as I'm sorry, you can't look hard on a moped.
- 1:03:29I mean, if you rocked up, if you rocked up on a Harley-Davidson
- 1:03:33your and then you just stopped in your psyche so glad that I
- 1:03:39can see that but you got no yeah, no this does not strike
- 1:03:43fear, you don't go. What's up, man?
- 1:03:50No, that's not happening. You know, ones, make the only
- 1:03:52time a moped is cool. Is like classic, you know,
- 1:03:56Quadrophenia back in the day like that.
- 1:04:00That was cool. That's but yeah, a Vespa.
- 1:04:02Sorry. Yeah.
- 1:04:03That's because those a variant of the mopeds that, right?
- 1:04:07Or yeah. It was a make but it was like
- 1:04:11the cut like they like a classic red Vespa.
- 1:04:13Yeah. Like those are cool.
- 1:04:15And they were cool but like, Mopeds.
- 1:04:18I'm sorry. Like just in general they just
- 1:04:20look ugly. I don't understand the appeal.
- 1:04:23I mean, I get that there is this good as a handy and there's a
- 1:04:26lot of bicycles in the Netherlands.
- 1:04:28So if there's a lot of school, there's a lot of schools as well
- 1:04:31because scooters that are limited to 50 kilometers an
- 1:04:35hour, hmm, which is good as that 16 year, olds can get.
- 1:04:39Yeah, they have to ride on a bike paths.
- 1:04:43Interesting. Okay.
- 1:04:45On they and they have to ride on the side of the car.
- 1:04:47Was on the roads here. There's obviously the two lanes
- 1:04:49and then there's a little red section of on each side of the
- 1:04:54road for bicycles. It's called the feet spot like a
- 1:05:00bike path. So confusing, a to defeat Puff,
- 1:05:04the feet apart, a bicycle, is a fix, a bicycle, as a feet.
- 1:05:09And a motorbike is a motor fits. So fix his bike and then
- 1:05:16motorbike so, yeah. And then if I can go over 50
- 1:05:22miles an hour, like if it's a scooter with gears, then it can
- 1:05:25go on the Wood. But people normally don't that
- 1:05:31just stick to the bike paths because they can go on the bike
- 1:05:33paths, but they're supposed to go on the road on the side of
- 1:05:36the road. I don't know.
- 1:05:38It's weird. But yeah, I'd love to get a look
- 1:05:41at the script to school. They would be cool because I can
- 1:05:43just listen to my music. Just really look to scoot the
- 1:05:47school. Me scoop, as I'm just showing a
- 1:05:49schoolmate, I do better. Betty, Betty, Betty Davis.
- 1:05:59No, no coffee anyone that out of UK to have no idea what the fuck
- 1:06:04you're talking about. I can't even remember the name
- 1:06:08of that program, but I remember Frank Spencer.
- 1:06:12I think his name was, wasn't it Brett.
- 1:06:14Hey, some that snot Factory, you know, but I can't call my
- 1:06:19scooter Betty because I've already named my car Bessie and
- 1:06:23your car Bessie. Yeah, it's an old Toyota
- 1:06:26Corolla. It's called Bessie.
- 1:06:29What's the Netherlands done? T, I don't know now, but I don't
- 1:06:36know. It's just it's an old 1998 car.
- 1:06:39It needs a classic name. It's green Bessie.
- 1:06:44I do. I just can't ever let, you know
- 1:06:46people normally name this their car.
- 1:06:47Something cool. Like jaguar Mercedes Bessie.
- 1:06:54It doesn't have the same Bessie, the new 02 Reliant Ford car of
- 1:07:04the year. Best M, the Toyota Corolla
- 1:07:11otherwise known as Bessie coming this month in cinemas near you.
- 1:07:17Coming this October just fall from timing.
- 1:07:23That this is my favorite one from the makers are but that is
- 1:07:28when he says that from the makers of the Avengers and
- 1:07:32others other films, JD Salinger presents catcher on the Rye and
- 1:07:44other books start presenting stuff.
- 1:07:52But I imagine if they was like honest so like the talking about
- 1:07:55Tori scented directed by someone might imagine if it was just the
- 1:08:00guy saying his opinions, like he's the best Twilight and he's
- 1:08:03like Presenting badly written fanfiction Twilight imagine.
- 1:08:14Imagine, imagine him with a Top gay movie though.
- 1:08:16Coming from the creators of Top Gear.
- 1:08:20Obviously coming Top Gear, the movie featuring Jeremy annoying.
- 1:08:29Clarkson Hammond, the short person And James me the old
- 1:08:36bloke who people keep around, because he sarcastically funny,
- 1:08:40but son of a bit like you did it, Batman impatiently.
- 1:08:43And then with that, man, I'm Batman.
- 1:08:45I'm Batman Robin. What are you doing?
- 1:08:48Robert, it's so fun though, you can the parent you kill my
- 1:08:54family. I bet man.
- 1:08:59This would be 40 40 just just just, just this.
- 1:09:02Just I'm Batman for like a minute, I'm Batman.
- 1:09:08Yeah, it's nice to anyone missing on my Spotify or apple
- 1:09:11or whatever. You just here in us, just go
- 1:09:13back for two minutes Batman. I'm late, normally, I'm good
- 1:09:18with character Impressions. If I know they, I'm good with,
- 1:09:22I'm good with accents. I know that much, I'm really
- 1:09:26good with that. Adds up an experiment a lot with
- 1:09:29them recently, Ike, i quite enjoy them.
- 1:09:31I like them on. Someone asked me yesterday to do
- 1:09:34with Indian and personal said, no, because I'll end up being
- 1:09:35racist or something like Ireland.
- 1:09:38I can do England, Scotland, I can do potatoes, bottom has
- 1:09:45become an assumed you made potato farmer.
- 1:09:48Dan farmer did fire. Hey, here's your racist now,
- 1:09:52father. That's what I want.
- 1:09:57The loud one. Whatwhat's.
- 1:10:00The church's opinion on. This is the man.
- 1:10:03Then why did you know about this?
- 1:10:07I didn't know about this. This is something you're talking
- 1:10:10about. You just do what you're talking
- 1:10:12about. I don't know what you're talking
- 1:10:14about, no idea, Scotland, Scottish Scottish man.
- 1:10:20Hey Amos and I do fucking right lad.
- 1:10:26Pretty much and when people talk like his Germans, they talk like
- 1:10:30this every single time. Mmm.
- 1:10:34And then the Netherlands, people talk like this, you know, you we
- 1:10:37going to do this and we go to do that.
- 1:10:39We don't ask you questions. I just say we go.
- 1:10:43We go to the far as far as that but it's.
- 1:10:45Yes, think it's. I love this Ronnie Flex milk
- 1:10:52line thing even though it's like five years old, I just love
- 1:10:56their music. It's really good.
- 1:10:58I was that that is that that song that you asked me to?
- 1:11:03Got some other good ones. They did a song called 123 as
- 1:11:06well, which is like the same song, kind of.
- 1:11:09But like a different variant. It's cool.
- 1:11:11It's yeah. Do you remember anything about
- 1:11:14the song that you practiced or did you forget it all?
- 1:11:22I can barely remember it. No, I think you sent me.
- 1:11:25I think you sent me a video and I said, yeah, I send you a kiss.
- 1:11:30I've got it. I've got it here.
- 1:11:31If you want to be embarrassed, go on then.
- 1:11:35Okay, we're actually going to do this.
- 1:11:37I don't know how we're gonna do this because it's going to sound
- 1:11:42awful. I just want to say I want to see
- 1:11:45if I can do it again. Let me see if I can hear it.
- 1:11:49It's gonna gonna like like Inception and then a little bit
- 1:11:54of that song that we need to learn that it gets way harder.
- 1:12:16as it is. German time in the weekend and
- 1:12:22Roots. I remember it as a big honkin
- 1:12:29drinks as a base for your chin in Via cheering Richard that
- 1:12:35just means as a bitch will chill.
- 1:12:37Will though as a pitch feel chilly.
- 1:12:39Need to worry about by problem down here keep him.
- 1:12:43He calmly down him down. He can't dunk it looks he waits
- 1:12:47a second set up slower. I'm To try and translate that as
- 1:12:50a bitch field chilling. It rape problem.
- 1:12:55Don honking hair needs. Call me, darling, Don he get
- 1:13:05drunk. It looks he get that out and it
- 1:13:09looks something like that. Is it if a bitch wants to show,
- 1:13:14that's no problem, something like about not coming alone and
- 1:13:20then having and then having alcohol and drugs and the so
- 1:13:24basically. So basically every rapper ever
- 1:13:27every rap song ever, I've got weed.
- 1:13:31Weed. Weed cocaine?
- 1:13:32Yes. Yes, drugs.
- 1:13:34Yeah, every do I should, I should, I should change that
- 1:13:36every rap song, sort of Circa, 2000 onwards, because before it
- 1:13:44was not know. I like rap music.
- 1:13:45I like it. But it's you have to really dig
- 1:13:48deep to find like, you know, meaningful wrap these days.
- 1:13:52So a lot of it is just people rapping about, I don't know why,
- 1:13:55but I can listen to be rich the Box a lot I got no idea who
- 1:14:01you're talking about. Well, not the group that the lat
- 1:14:04selling fucked up Fox, what buzzing that, the bells of the
- 1:14:06box? I mean, it's like, you're
- 1:14:08speaking Japanese to me, I'd no idea Japanese.
- 1:14:14I think I'm turning Japanese. Thank you, kokoro.
- 1:14:33I like that. We're in the same mood today.
- 1:14:34This, this makes this even more fun, but with that kind of like,
- 1:14:38light playful mood. So it's like it works, nicely
- 1:14:41just I'm doing the test on the sofa.
- 1:14:46So what so, what more do you have for me in the questions?
- 1:14:50Mainly enough. That was only.
- 1:14:52Yeah, that's only three of about what 1012.
- 1:14:59Oh, damn. Okay, let's keep going.
- 1:15:02We've been doing this for like two hours now.
- 1:15:05No, we have no Ari. Yeah, it's it's, it's 2:40 over
- 1:15:11here. What does he go?
- 1:15:13Let's see what you got. Okay, but what made you want to
- 1:15:17become a content creator and why, and when did you make your
- 1:15:21first YouTube video? Oh, I'll start with the second
- 1:15:26question first. YouTube video.
- 1:15:32Actually was like 2007/2008 like really back in the day because
- 1:15:38when, when I started doing YouTube properly was like 2013
- 1:15:44but before then, you know, everyone had a YouTube account
- 1:15:47and would just like, mess around with it because like you
- 1:15:50couldn't earn money back. Then it was just the weirdest
- 1:15:52novelty thing, right? And I would post like skating
- 1:15:56videos on there and there's me at the local park that I went to
- 1:16:00and stuff. And I just didn't really think
- 1:16:03anything of it. The only thing I was got it
- 1:16:04about is that I never got those clips.
- 1:16:06I would have liked to have kept those clips because there's
- 1:16:08loads and loads of videos of me skiing.
- 1:16:11But if you could have made it like a montage.
- 1:16:13Yeah, exactly. I have photos of me skating.
- 1:16:16So that's something. But yeah, I would have liked to
- 1:16:19have had that. But yeah, anyway, fast forward
- 1:16:21to 2013, I saw the situation with what's going on line, I
- 1:16:26thought. Oh, that be cool.
- 1:16:27Maybe I'll try that. So I started an account.
- 1:16:30It was December. 13 and I started doing a mixture of music
- 1:16:37and those videos are still there.
- 1:16:39I stand by the music was still good.
- 1:16:41Like, you know, it might not have been the best ever, but I
- 1:16:44still proud of it. But I had videos on there that
- 1:16:47were not music that were like I suppose listicles or like trying
- 1:16:54to kind of copy what was everyone else was doing and it
- 1:16:58was really cringe. Like, I think I had one like
- 1:17:02something to do with like hair, start, bad hairstyles, or some
- 1:17:05shit. And it was so cringe.
- 1:17:06Like I basically faked my presentation start had to be
- 1:17:11like whatever YouTuber was doing and still does in some cases,
- 1:17:16and it's cringe. And I know it was and I deleted
- 1:17:19it and I kept the Videos. But I didn't really pursue it
- 1:17:22because back then I didn't have confidence in myself in my
- 1:17:26abilities and I just felt like I had no good ideas and I thought
- 1:17:30like, well if I ever do YouTube, I want to come back to it when I
- 1:17:34have some good quality ideas. And so I kind of, you know I
- 1:17:39would upload a video here and there but I just didn't really
- 1:17:42ever take it seriously. And then when I got to
- 1:17:43University, I started to like Get sort of experimental music.
- 1:17:50What? Because I have like these shifts
- 1:17:52it with music, it's always been like, I'll be in a band for a
- 1:17:54couple of years. I'll do some solo stuff, then I
- 1:17:56won't do anything for a while, then I'll come back to it, you
- 1:17:58know. It's that's what it's like for
- 1:18:00me and music. I've always been doing stuff in
- 1:18:02my life, that music has always been there.
- 1:18:04And so when I was at Uni, I had a point where, you know, I was
- 1:18:08in a couple of bands, I was experimenting playing a lot.
- 1:18:11So I recorded a bunch of videos and I thought, oh, maybe this
- 1:18:14would be my chance to, you know, make a YouTube.
- 1:18:17Black, make it proper. And again, same thing happened.
- 1:18:20But it was different this time because I actually genuinely had
- 1:18:23no time. I the further I got into my
- 1:18:25degree, the less act time, I had, and I was just working, an
- 1:18:30insane amount both in my job and the degree itself.
- 1:18:36So I just didn't have time for music.
- 1:18:37And then when I've graduated and moved to Estonia, Same thing.
- 1:18:43I just had a lot going on in my life and when it came to 2019, I
- 1:18:49suddenly had a lot more time. I started doing acting.
- 1:18:52So was the beginning of 2019 and I uploaded those videos on there
- 1:18:56thinking like and they got a couple of used.
- 1:18:58They did well and I was like, hmm.
- 1:19:00Okay, maybe I'm going to do YouTube properly.
- 1:19:04Now I'm going to start vlogging and go to start trying different
- 1:19:06things. So I just started testing the
- 1:19:08waters and seeing what was what? And I just discovered that I
- 1:19:11really You to creating content and I kind of always get a buzz
- 1:19:16every time I particularly now, if I have like an idea for a
- 1:19:21video or a topic for the podcast or whatever, like I get really
- 1:19:25excited, I film it and then I prepare it and I just love that
- 1:19:28feeling, you know? I mean it's exciting.
- 1:19:31Yeah. I mean I think the I did a prank
- 1:19:36video on my dad. And I think that recently
- 1:19:41surpassed 100 views. Oh, congrats.
- 1:19:44So, I kinda want to make another one, but I don't know what to
- 1:19:50do. Look at all cuz I mean, I did.
- 1:19:53I ignored my dad for the best in the entire ride back from the
- 1:19:58doctors to home, but nothing really I would say don't ever
- 1:20:06force it. Like if you don't have any ready
- 1:20:09ideas like nothing's coming to you naturally, then I think it's
- 1:20:13worth kind of just looking at the community seeing what's
- 1:20:15popular and not necessarily copying just thinking like is
- 1:20:19this something that would work for my channel?
- 1:20:21If I Replicate this, you know, get pregnant obvious hole.
- 1:20:25Yeah, I give credit to whoever you're taking the idea from, but
- 1:20:28like ultimately give it a go. Like, for example, I did a
- 1:20:31video, you know, there was a YouTuber British YouTuber called
- 1:20:36Charlie is so cool like many years ago and he recently in the
- 1:20:40last couple of years. He decided to move away from
- 1:20:42YouTube and focus on his film career.
- 1:20:46And he did a really good videos back in the day that Vlog videos
- 1:20:51and some of Them were just like really cool ideas like you did
- 1:20:5310 years ago, like, 26 things I've learned at the age of 26 so
- 1:20:58I did the same video but 27 things, I've learned at 27 and I
- 1:21:02gave homage to him. I said, hey yeah, you know thank
- 1:21:05you for this idea but then it turned into my own thing because
- 1:21:09his was a short video of like six or seven minutes fun little
- 1:21:13quips mine was like an hour-long thing where I'm talking in depth
- 1:21:17about all these things, I've learned.
- 1:21:19So it kind of that was my Akon. That it was different.
- 1:21:23It was my style because I talked at length and that's how I kind
- 1:21:26of do my stuff. And there's a lot of people that
- 1:21:28say, oh, you know, I don't like watching longer videos, but
- 1:21:31there's an audience of people that liked it.
- 1:21:32So I always just create what I like, and if I'm happy with it,
- 1:21:37I'll put it out there. And I always recommend that to
- 1:21:40anyone who's like, struggling for ideas.
- 1:21:42It's like, don't worry. Like just try and replicate
- 1:21:45other things and like, eventually ideas are going to
- 1:21:47come. Anyway, like that's just the
- 1:21:49nature of it. You know.
- 1:21:50I got have weeks where I have No ideas and I don't do anything
- 1:21:53and then I'll have a week like this week where I have loads and
- 1:21:56loads of ideas and I'm struggling to write them down
- 1:21:59and like shit I have to do all of this.
- 1:22:00I have to find time to get through all of these ideas but I
- 1:22:04think it's like everyone's creative process works
- 1:22:08differently but I think the worst thing you can ever do is
- 1:22:11like panic and go, oh shit. I haven't come up with anything.
- 1:22:14I need to just put some stuff out because that's when like
- 1:22:16shit stuff is created because it's like, you're just
- 1:22:19panicking, you're not focusing on the content.
- 1:22:21Quality. You're focusing on like I need
- 1:22:23to get something out there but yeah, I don't know.
- 1:22:27I mean sometimes is good as well like if you're pushed to produce
- 1:22:30something as well, sometimes you can discover something that's
- 1:22:34left field that you never thought you would do.
- 1:22:37And then, you know, that's something different, you know,
- 1:22:39like I did for me, for example, I kind of discovered that with
- 1:22:45maybe with herb Xing, you know, I never thought I would do a
- 1:22:47Beck's, I always thought abandoned, buildings were cool
- 1:22:51but But the concept of exploring them and then filming that
- 1:22:54experience was new to me and then I saw YouTubers doing it.
- 1:22:57And I are cool. Maybe I'll do that.
- 1:22:59If I ever get the opportunity and then the opportunity came
- 1:23:02when I was in Estonia and I wasn't actually actively looking
- 1:23:05to do that. I just happen to know a guy who
- 1:23:07does it. I was like, well fuck it, I'll
- 1:23:08film this, and put it on my YouTube then.
- 1:23:10So sometimes these things like they don't happen necessarily
- 1:23:13because you've like plan them out.
- 1:23:15They just happen because of circumstances in life and
- 1:23:18obviously like you could appreciate this being a content
- 1:23:20creator, like You're looking at your own life.
- 1:23:22You're always thinking like what's interesting what would my
- 1:23:25audience want to know about? And sometimes you've just gotta
- 1:23:28take a risk, put something out there, see what people think,
- 1:23:32other times, you kind of just know what to put out.
- 1:23:35You just have a feeling so I don't know.
- 1:23:37Like, for me, it's taken some time.
- 1:23:39I think when I first started YouTube, it's like everyone
- 1:23:41else. I kind of sat there thinking
- 1:23:43like this is all trash. This is cringe, this is
- 1:23:46terrible. Whereas now like I have zero
- 1:23:49fear in front of the camera, I'll see.
- 1:23:51It and talk forever and I'll know what I'm going to say.
- 1:23:55I'll know if I'm talking too long going on a tangent, I know
- 1:23:58when to bring it back that's something I had to learn
- 1:24:01recently actually, as well as you know, if I'm going off topic
- 1:24:04and it's particularly important if I'm doing an interview or
- 1:24:07something like this, you know you have to bring it back to the
- 1:24:10point and you can't go too far off base because that leads to
- 1:24:13the thing where you forget things, all at you, leave things
- 1:24:16on answered or whatever. So I try to move we need to make
- 1:24:20this a part two. Because I have a lot of
- 1:24:23questions and obviously when we get talking for example it's
- 1:24:28basically been two hours right now.
- 1:24:30Damn I think maybe even a bit longer and we're not even past
- 1:24:34the first goddamn section. So that's my fault.
- 1:24:38I know that know we that was the end of the last section so maybe
- 1:24:42we need to do this again with the other two sections.
- 1:24:47Three sections because I feel like we could turn like, our
- 1:24:56podcasts like, we're we're together.
- 1:25:00Yeah, and it was small miniseries.
- 1:25:04I said, ha same, passions, part, two of the questions.
- 1:25:06Part, 3 of the question, I'll say this, I was thinking about
- 1:25:10this before we headed into this podcast, like, because I was
- 1:25:13looking at hashtags, right? I love hashtags when it's like
- 1:25:17ask It's asked that and I thought it would be cool to
- 1:25:19start up a thing where it's like, ask Christian and like,
- 1:25:23that could be as you said like that.
- 1:25:25It's still part of the podcast series but it's an episode of
- 1:25:28ask Christian with Christian a Dutch, a Dutch still special.
- 1:25:33Well yeah, maybe I mean that's kind of the idea I have as its
- 1:25:38the working title for this episode because obviously it's
- 1:25:41not a standard one where I'm interviewing new we're not
- 1:25:44going. We I mean we have discussed like
- 1:25:46we normally do but But it's been a lot about me obviously, and we
- 1:25:50knew that going in. It wasn't like a, you know, I
- 1:25:52just turned into this. But you know, as a concept, I
- 1:25:55think if people like it, if we put it out and people like it
- 1:25:58will do more. If people are interested, we
- 1:26:02won't do more simple as that. Just just to put this into
- 1:26:05perspective, this is all the questions.
- 1:26:09All right, this is the Fault. This is a full eight ball.
- 1:26:12We're up to here. Damn, work to there.
- 1:26:17Makes me feel so bad. I feel like I talk too much.
- 1:26:20No, no, it's just us. We we click so, if you want to
- 1:26:24see more of this, if you want to see me asking more of the
- 1:26:27questions, just drop a like and let us know that we that you
- 1:26:31want to see it because it's start hashtag with it because I
- 1:26:33think that's important. So what should we Clash hug?
- 1:26:35Ask Christian, Okay, cool. So that will that will be what
- 1:26:39we post after this when this is released.
- 1:26:42And for few all future episodes where we do it, ask Christian
- 1:26:46I'll be me and done. Touch and we'll have the
- 1:26:48questions and hopefully we'll actually get stuff sent in and
- 1:26:52you can ask me the question still.
- 1:26:54I think I think I am and the person who's returned the most I
- 1:27:00think This is my third time, you're tired.
- 1:27:05So you're tied with my friend, Calamity Hatcher, three apiece,
- 1:27:11so someone else who's had three times Steals.
- 1:27:15He's been on twice. However, this is the Dutch still
- 1:27:19special. So we have we have an actual
- 1:27:22segment. So there's a segment, is the
- 1:27:25podcast and then there's the podcast specials where I ask
- 1:27:30Christian. I am the I only ask Christian
- 1:27:33host so I am buying. I dig that.
- 1:27:36I think that I'm caught I'm co-host of this.
- 1:27:39The City Podcast just eject. You're jumping ahead.
- 1:27:42Man, you're getting, you're getting A confident that you
- 1:27:48didn't present this once I did. He did.
- 1:27:50Thank you so much. By the way, for that, I really
- 1:27:52appreciate. I know, it's fine.
- 1:27:54I'm always happy to appear on the CPR, CPR, the icrp.
- 1:28:00See CPR. I'm dying CRP.
- 1:28:04See, on crew, I wrote something on my son.
- 1:28:07Stop trying to make CRP a thing still trying to get co-op.
- 1:28:10He's not gonna be a thing. Still trying to make it a thing.
- 1:28:14I wrote something on a little black ball that we haven't
- 1:28:17Hannah. Why should I go and take a photo
- 1:28:21of it and then come back. Come back, nice, fun.
- 1:28:23You can send it to a softer. I don't know how to do this.
- 1:28:28It's because my original plan was to sit at the dining table
- 1:28:33in there, okay? But we had a messy dinner last
- 1:28:36night. So yeah, so I did.
- 1:28:40So I'm sort of steering. Clear, the kitchen.
- 1:28:42Okay. and I wrote something on the Blackboard, I think it was
- 1:28:51You want to have a quick look go on then.
- 1:28:55I'm gonna, he's gonna keep this ocupada.
- 1:28:58All right, so yeah. Alright, so well, that was
- 1:29:01quick. Okay, as expected, it says,
- 1:29:06welcome to the Christian re podcast number 30 and then I 30
- 1:29:10with an exclamation mark and that was supposed to be behind
- 1:29:13me, that's really sweet. Now, you have the the naughty
- 1:29:18shelf so called because it's very dangerous to walk into or
- 1:29:22hit your head off, doesn't it kind of dangerous actually.
- 1:29:25Particularly that mirror with the jagged edges that it's okay.
- 1:29:29If it would forward a particular angle, just slice you to fuck
- 1:29:32up. Remember when the, when the, how
- 1:29:39careful? Careful, I remember when the
- 1:29:44sofa was a bit more back, which is why we moved it Forward.
- 1:29:47Yeah. I went, I went to sit back and I
- 1:29:50just smashed my head off the corner.
- 1:29:53That's a glass Shelf. Oh yeah, I had to go to bed.
- 1:30:00I killed myself. You should have heard the barn.
- 1:30:07It was like a hmm. Wow, but when bong it was it was
- 1:30:15it wasn't fun and have another injury.
- 1:30:17I was messing about with the dog and she head-butted me in the
- 1:30:20lip. And I I can I can feel the cook.
- 1:30:27Hmm. What's really dangerous is the
- 1:30:29fact this is a glass of orange juice on the table drinking.
- 1:30:32That would be pretty much suicide.
- 1:30:34So was a you allergic? No, no, orange juice on a cut.
- 1:30:39Oh, right, yeah, yeah. Of course, of course, that would
- 1:30:43be mouth suicide, rather. All right, man.
- 1:30:49Well, listen, I want to say a big massive, massive.
- 1:30:52Thank you to dodge deals for appearing on podcast, for
- 1:30:56interviewing me. And making this extra special
- 1:30:59ask Christian episode number 30 number 30.
- 1:31:03Yeah, yeah, pisode really quickly.
- 1:31:05I just want to reflect on that. I was not even expecting.
- 1:31:10This to last. If I'm honest, I thought I would
- 1:31:12get bored or, you know, I wouldn't make it work, it would
- 1:31:17be rubbish, whatever, but it seems to be that the podcast is
- 1:31:20being received really well. And I've had a lot of
- 1:31:23interesting guests on the show. By the way, I'm always looking
- 1:31:26for new guests so it wherever you're listening to this if you
- 1:31:31know someone that would like to appear on the podcast or you
- 1:31:34would like to appear yourself just get in touch with me.
- 1:31:36I would love to have you on the show and Yeah, I know.
- 1:31:40I mean I've had I think the biggest thing for me has been
- 1:31:45learning how to interview people and, you know, like just kind of
- 1:31:52tweaking things here and there. So like as I spoke to you before
- 1:31:56Dutch about, you know being able to make sure that the
- 1:31:59conversation is consistent and flows and is logical like little
- 1:32:03things like that. I think you have to learn by
- 1:32:05just doing like doing podcasting and it just takes practice and I
- 1:32:10will say that the show is is growing and changing developing
- 1:32:13and that's true and it will continue to change in the
- 1:32:16future. I have no doubt of it but I
- 1:32:19think if you do look at the pasta episodes you'll see that,
- 1:32:22you know there is development, there is a kind of a style,
- 1:32:27maybe I suppose, but it kind of takes time.
- 1:32:32And, you know, I think the key is, is like everyone wanting to
- 1:32:36be there and having a good time and I think we definitely have
- 1:32:39had a good time. Throughout all 30 episodes and
- 1:32:42you know, I'm always looking at ways I can change and develop it
- 1:32:46for the future. And like I said, I'm always open
- 1:32:48to ideas and topics and guests and everything.
- 1:32:51You know, I'm very open. So if you do have suggestions,
- 1:32:55if you do enjoy the show, let me know.
- 1:32:57I would love to know what you think and if you want a special
- 1:33:00segment. Yeah, I think what I think we'll
- 1:33:04call this ourselves podcast, we'll call this will call this
- 1:33:07ask ask hashtag, ask Christian with Dutch deals.
- 1:33:10I think that's a logical title. But, ya know, a big thank you to
- 1:33:16yourself for appearing again. A big.
- 1:33:17Thank you to everyone listening to the podcast wherever you
- 1:33:21subscribe to the podcast. We're always growing and going
- 1:33:23on to new platforms. So if I'm not already on a
- 1:33:27platform that you use, I probably will be soon.
- 1:33:31But yeah, I hope you're enjoying the show as much as I am making
- 1:33:34it. Thank you so much for listening
- 1:33:37and until next time. Peace.
- 1:33:40That one loves you in the next one.
- 1:33:41Sure.
