- 0:40Speaker 1: over there. Our name may Bee, Megan and Wendy, but
- 0:43Speaker 1: it's Meghan.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean you could post stuff to me. I
- 0:46Speaker 2: just don't. I still want to.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Well, I'm having a grand old time over there, so
- 0:50Speaker 1: you should come follow us. It is not Hallmark at all.
- 0:53Speaker 1: It's Needle Point and outfits and books.
- 0:57Speaker 2: It's just a good time. It's a good time, but
- 1:01Speaker 2: it's a good time on TikTok. I love TikTok, love it.

- 1:08Speaker 2: we would love your emails. You can send them to
- 1:11Speaker 2: Hello at Girlsgonehollmark dot com. I'm dying to know are
- 1:16Speaker 2: people watching Hope Valley eighteen seventy four? Side note, we
- 1:22Speaker 2: are really in the like eighteen hundreds watching a lot
- 1:26Speaker 2: of content right now. Think about The Way Home that
- 1:33Speaker 2: was in the eighteen hundreds, right, I couldn't tell you.
- 1:35Speaker 2: You're right, Yeah, what year was it? Do you remember
- 1:39Speaker 2: eighteen seventy four? Or is this No, this is eighteen
- 1:43Speaker 2: seventy four? Like I have to look at the title
- 1:45Speaker 2: every single time because it's the eighteen seventy four on here.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I'm like, where are we at? And then, of course
- 1:51Speaker 2: Megan and I are also reviewing in The Girl's Gone
- 1:54Speaker 2: Hallmark podcast feed the Count of Monte Cristo and The Foresights,
- 1:58Speaker 2: which are PB masterpiece shows. The KNA Madney Cristo doesn't
- 2:04Speaker 2: take place in the eighteen hunds, but the Foresights do it?
- 2:07Speaker 2: Does it? I don't even know when it's set. I
- 2:09Speaker 2: haven't even started. Yes, anyway, lots of period pieces. I
- 2:13Speaker 2: want to know, are you watching it? Are you watching
- 2:16Speaker 2: Home Valley? Like I'm curious because you know, Hallmark Plus
- 2:20Speaker 2: has been a struggle for Hallmark to get off the ground,
- 2:23Speaker 2: and was this the series that's bringing over all the
- 2:27Speaker 2: wind calls to hurt people. Excuse me, That's what I
- 2:30Speaker 2: was thinking, because we've had exclusive releases on Hallmark Plus before,
- 2:36Speaker 2: but for the most part they've been new like Chicken Sisters,
- 2:39Speaker 2: and you're trying to like build a new audience and
- 2:42Speaker 2: get people over there. Well, they don't have any attachment
- 2:45Speaker 2: to that show.
- 2:46Speaker 1: And then they tried like we're gonna put the Way
- 2:48Speaker 1: Home over there, and people went into an uproar because
- 2:50Speaker 1: they were like, you can't take it away from us,
- 2:51Speaker 1: which I understand, And so I think this was a
- 2:54Speaker 1: good idea. Take that audience, but give them something new
- 2:57Speaker 1: and try and drive them over there. I wonder if
- 2:59Speaker 1: it's working. I'm dying to now let us know. Let's
- 3:03Speaker 1: hear a synopsis for this episode.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Sure, when Tom refuses to provide lumber for the boarding house,
- 3:08Speaker 2: Rebecca gets creative. That's it, folks.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Mike Roll does return as director of this episode. His
- 3:14Speaker 1: directing credits include of Course, One Calls the Heart and
- 3:17Speaker 1: both installments of the Cases of Mystery Lane. For what
- 3:20Speaker 1: it's worth, it does seem like this series will follow
- 3:23Speaker 1: the one director per each pair of episodes.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Oh nice. Elizabeth Stewart wrote the episode of Hope Vally
- 3:33Speaker 2: eighteen Elizabeth Elizabeth Stewart wrote this episode of Hope Valley

- 4:12Speaker 1: Disney project, right, Oh yeah, I just remember my kid
- 4:17Speaker 1: dressed up for Halloween as a one of.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Those mind two characters. He was also in both f
- 4:25Speaker 2: Mary Kill and Mary f Kill. I don't know if
- 4:28Speaker 2: those are both related, but he was in both of them.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Was is one a sequel? I don't know. Are those
- 4:35Speaker 2: horror movies? I don't know? Okay.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Chelsea Hobbs plays Peggy McCabe. Chelsea's Hallmark resume includes Dream Moms,
- 4:42Speaker 1: The Holiday Sitter and Navigating Christmas. She also appears in Unreal,
- 4:46Speaker 1: Get Out Your Girls Gone, Hallmark Bingo Cards.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I like Chelsea Hobbs me too. I remember her from
- 4:52Speaker 2: Dream Moms. I don't remember her from The Holidaysitter or
- 4:55Speaker 2: this Navigating Christmas, but I like her. I'm glad that
- 4:58Speaker 2: she's in this series. Brad Abray Minko plays Nash McCabe.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Among Brad's acting credits is the aforementioned f Mary Kill,
- 5:08Speaker 2: as well as a Lifetime movie amish Stead The Eli
- 5:11Speaker 2: Weaver Story starring Luke McFarlane. Luke McFarlane Grayson Maxwell Guernsey

- 5:24Speaker 2: don't know you're gonna have to read this.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Matrea Scarwiner plays new mom Rachel Yos. Matreya has been
- 5:29Speaker 1: in Hollmark hits like One Bad Apple, A Hannah Swinson Mystery,
- 5:32Speaker 1: as well as Mid Love Crisis. While we're talking Bingo cards,
- 5:36Speaker 1: you can mark the space for Once upon a Time
- 5:37Speaker 1: since Matreya appeared as Dorothy Gale. Ryan Robbins plays Archie Doyle,
- 5:42Speaker 1: the prospector Bumping Heads with Tom Moore. Ryan has one
- 5:45Speaker 1: hundred and fifty nine acting credits. He'll appear in the
- 5:47Speaker 1: reboot of Little House on the Prairie soon and was
- 5:50Speaker 1: recently in accused the Karen Reid story as well as
- 5:53Speaker 1: the CW series Riverdale.
- 5:55Speaker 2: I gotta tell you, I'm really interested in the Me
- 5:58Speaker 2: Too Little House reboot coming soon to a Girl's Gone Home? There?
- 6:03Speaker 2: How many period pieces? Girls gone? Period pieces? Here? Because
- 6:06Speaker 2: my goodness, let's take a quick break and we'll come
- 6:09Speaker 2: right back with our first impressions.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Hey, Wendy, what's your first impression of episode two of
- 6:22Speaker 1: Hope Valley eighteen seventy four.
- 6:24Speaker 2: I see the plan here. We're gonna watch Tom and
- 6:27Speaker 2: rear back. I disagree their way into love over the
- 6:30Speaker 2: course of this series, aren't we? Maybe my first impression is.
- 6:34Speaker 1: I'm gonna need someone to nit me one of those
- 6:36Speaker 1: sweater vests, the hattie weears.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Don't they look like like you would put your six
- 6:44Speaker 2: shooter in it? Oh? Like a holster. Yeah, it's like
- 6:48Speaker 2: a Holster sweater. First of all, I couldn't stop looking
- 6:52Speaker 2: at them. They are one piece, I know, and they
- 6:54Speaker 2: button in the bag. I don't even think they don't
- 6:57Speaker 2: button in the back. They're solid in the back. I
- 6:59Speaker 2: don't think I saw latons. Maybe well she has multiple
- 7:02Speaker 2: maybe one had buttons. But I was watching, I was
- 7:04Speaker 2: looking at it. I'm like, I think that's like a
- 7:06Speaker 2: like an infinity piece, Like there's no starting to do it.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I'm into it. And I was like, it's pretty ingenious.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Like they're not gonna put her in a patagony a
- 7:15Speaker 2: vest out here and it's cold. It's called you know,
- 7:17Speaker 2: who's got to wear a dress. I wonder if the
- 7:20Speaker 2: costumer like made those or if they found, you know,
- 7:23Speaker 2: like commissioned somebody to make them. Very interesting. I knew it.
- 7:28Speaker 2: I noticed too. I notice too, especially hear me out.
- 7:33Speaker 2: If it's cold today in twenty twenty six and you
- 7:36Speaker 2: want to be layered, you can wear that under a jacket.
- 7:39Speaker 2: But then still it's not bulky in the arms. I know. Right,
- 7:45Speaker 2: let's bring it back. Maybe. What did you like about
- 7:49Speaker 2: this episode? Okay, even though I'm complaining about it, I
- 7:53Speaker 2: do like the Rebecca versus Tom a little bit. You know,
- 7:57Speaker 2: we have Tom was a little rough around the way,
- 8:00Speaker 2: but we also have Rebecca who's super guarded and like
- 8:05Speaker 2: I think ultimately they're gonna want the same thing. But
- 8:08Speaker 2: I do like the Tom not being He's kind of like,
- 8:13Speaker 2: get off my lawn sort of behavior. He's not happy
- 8:18Speaker 2: about the changes that are coming to the area, and
- 8:21Speaker 2: she's like, Yo, I'm trying to make a living out here,
- 8:25Speaker 2: and this is how I'm gonna do it with all
- 8:27Speaker 2: these prospectors who are coming here, even though I don't
- 8:31Speaker 2: really love the like I want to make a warm
- 8:32Speaker 2: and cozy place. Girl, you're trying to make a dollar.
- 8:35Speaker 2: That's what's happening. Sure, So if I'm ay in the
- 8:39Speaker 2: last episode, one of your wishes was I'm going to
- 8:41Speaker 2: need a little warmth from these people because it's a
- 8:43Speaker 2: lot of like running up against a brick wall. Yeah,
- 8:45Speaker 2: a lot of like what are we doing?
- 8:47Speaker 1: What have we done? I think we get that here now.
- 8:51Speaker 1: The tension between Tom and Rebecca was almost starting to
- 8:54Speaker 1: wear on me because I was like, I don't want
- 8:55Speaker 1: a whole season of this, Like, yeah, I won't take
- 8:58Speaker 1: your money, I won't give you one more. But then,
- 9:03Speaker 1: first of all, when he eats the pie and he's
- 9:06Speaker 1: like obviously doesn't say anything, but then he goes in
- 9:09Speaker 1: it takes a second giant bite, I'm like, he likes
- 9:11Speaker 1: her pie, he's accepting her. I saw hewa about the
- 9:14Speaker 1: way he's holding his fork.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Yes, it was give me a little Michael Rappaport. I
- 9:19Speaker 2: think it's intentional. Okay, I think I noticed it too.
- 9:22Speaker 2: I think it's intentional because to me it speaks like
- 9:25Speaker 2: you've seen Benjamin Ayers on a zoom call man, draink's
- 9:28Speaker 2: out of a blender bottle, love you, Ben.
- 9:32Speaker 1: My point is I think he's more refined than this. Yes,
- 9:36Speaker 1: because this was not a refined place.
- 9:39Speaker 2: He's a rancher. Yeah, there's no school within two hours.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Sure, I noticed it too, but I thought that like grudging,
- 9:47Speaker 1: like all right, this woman has something to offer, like
- 9:50Speaker 1: silly as it may be.
- 9:51Speaker 2: In the form of a pie.
- 9:52Speaker 1: But then he shows up for her at the end
- 9:54Speaker 1: and it's like, let me lend you a hand. There's
- 9:56Speaker 1: that hint of acceptance and softening. We get that softening
- 10:01Speaker 1: in a couple of other ways. Also, at the end
- 10:04Speaker 1: of the episode, people start being on team Rebecca. Lars
- 10:08Speaker 1: shows up with the lumber that was stolen, yes, and
- 10:10Speaker 1: he's like, I'll be back with more. There's a lot
- 10:13Speaker 1: of hardship and hope Valley, but we all needed this
- 10:15Speaker 1: little bit of light and warmth.
- 10:17Speaker 2: If you will.
- 10:19Speaker 1: And finally, in the first episode, I said the relationship
- 10:22Speaker 1: that I enjoyed the most was Hattie and Rebecca.
- 10:24Speaker 2: That remains the.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Relationship I'm enjoying the most, and it grows in this episode.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Hattie gives Rebecca space to open up about how she's
- 10:32Speaker 1: really feeling. She has to put on a real brave
- 10:34Speaker 1: face and kind of be hard and tough with Tom
- 10:37Speaker 1: and the prospectors, but Hattie lets her tell it like
- 10:40Speaker 1: it is, and there's actual warmth when she shows up
- 10:44Speaker 1: and they have tea and she's gotten the stove to work.
- 10:46Speaker 1: I think we needed those elements.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Of warmth in this episode where she get those teacups
- 10:51Speaker 2: in that kettle. She brought them with her in the
- 10:54Speaker 2: covered wagon. Yeah, because even her daughter was like, oh,
- 10:57Speaker 2: we're going to use our fine china. She brought it
- 10:58Speaker 2: with her. That's right, right, that is right. But that
- 11:03Speaker 2: just seems like bringing covered wagon. What else is in there?
- 11:06Speaker 2: You need to clothes? Nah, It just seems like a
- 11:10Speaker 2: lot of stuff to their whole life is in that line.
- 11:12Speaker 2: I guess. I guess I'm not ragging on Rebecca as
- 11:16Speaker 2: the visionary. I actually really I like a woman who's
- 11:20Speaker 2: doing the damn thing and her and Hattie are Yeah,
- 11:24Speaker 2: I really like that a lot. You know, the boarding
- 11:28Speaker 2: house isn't just like a roof for them, like it
- 11:30Speaker 2: is a plan for their future what she was running
- 11:33Speaker 2: away from, and like creating something new for her and
- 11:36Speaker 2: her daughter. I really like that. And then moving on
- 11:39Speaker 2: to Hattie and Rebecca, I really enjoyed that tea conversation too,
- 11:43Speaker 2: because they're talking about dreamers versus, you know, being practical.
- 11:49Speaker 2: That's my takeaway from it. And you know, Hattie's perspective
- 11:53Speaker 2: was like, oh I had a husband who was a dreamer,
- 11:55Speaker 2: and then she has to be the flow, right, like
- 11:58Speaker 2: she's you know whatever. I thought. Rebecca's perspective was touching,
- 12:07Speaker 2: where she's like, that's what we want from our children
- 12:09Speaker 2: is to dream. We want them to go out and
- 12:10Speaker 2: chase those things. And like, I don't think Hattie had
- 12:12Speaker 2: gotten that perspective yet. And so when she's looking at
- 12:14Speaker 2: her own daughter Olivia, and they have that great scene
- 12:17Speaker 2: at the moment at the end, sorry, she's like, if
- 12:21Speaker 2: something presents itself, go after it. And I just love
- 12:25Speaker 2: arc loved it, loved it, loved it. Speaking of Actually
- 12:32Speaker 2: we're not speaking of it, but I'm into this love
- 12:34Speaker 2: triangle that is blossoming here between Olivia Clayton and I
- 12:40Speaker 2: just might not say the Mounte Constable Vaughan. Yeah, I
- 12:44Speaker 2: I'm into it.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Heart breaks for poor little Clayton because the fact that
- 12:48Speaker 1: he is from here and works here and this is
- 12:52Speaker 1: likely his future works against him in Olivia's eyes. Totally
- 12:55Speaker 1: fair for no reason other than she does not want
- 12:59Speaker 1: to be from here.
- 13:00Speaker 2: When she's like.
- 13:01Speaker 1: You're from Toronto, yeah, like stars in her eyes. And
- 13:05Speaker 1: the Constable doesn't need to do anything else but be
- 13:08Speaker 1: exotic as far as Olivia's Yeah.
- 13:11Speaker 2: The best part of the episode was the end when
- 13:15Speaker 2: Constable Vaughan is writing his notes or letter back to whomever,
- 13:20Speaker 2: and he's like, everything is fine here, like even all
- 13:24Speaker 2: the like you know, the little I'm not gonna say
- 13:28Speaker 2: riff raff, but like the skirmishes they're having here, Like
- 13:31Speaker 2: this is all like normal everyday stuff, but it is
- 13:34Speaker 2: Rebecca Clerk who has pequed my interest. And I was like, oh,
- 13:38Speaker 2: now we're onto something. Yeah.
- 13:40Speaker 1: When he's like what would cause her to move so
- 13:43Speaker 1: far away? In that same vein, I like that we're
- 13:48Speaker 1: building some tension between Rebecca and the law. This is
- 13:51Speaker 1: the second episode in a row that Tom has hinted
- 13:55Speaker 1: that he knows that she must be on the run,
- 13:57Speaker 1: and he says, don't worry about the Mounty. If he
- 13:59Speaker 1: were here for you, you would know it already. Yeah,
- 14:01Speaker 1: And neither of them says anything else. She doesn't say
- 14:04Speaker 1: what do you know? Or she just leaves it yeah,
- 14:07Speaker 1: and he doesn't push. But he said something similar in
- 14:10Speaker 1: the first episode, and it's very interesting that he sees
- 14:15Speaker 1: that in her but isn't working against her in that way.
- 14:21Speaker 1: You know, last week you asked me if there was
- 14:22Speaker 1: a character that I was really into, and while I
- 14:26Speaker 1: don't think there's a one single character that I'm into.
- 14:29Speaker 1: After last week's introduction, what I thought would happen did happen,
- 14:32Speaker 1: and is said, we get a lot of new storyline openings,
- 14:36Speaker 1: like you said the love triangle. We also have this
- 14:41Speaker 1: very focused battle that Tom is having with Archie over
- 14:44Speaker 1: who owns the land? Yeah, and then we have the
- 14:48Speaker 1: women who are perhaps going to get a chance to
- 14:51Speaker 1: learn to read, among other things. I think it's really
- 14:56Speaker 1: interesting that the constable goes to Tom and Tom's like
- 15:01Speaker 1: I own the land?
- 15:01Speaker 2: I can tell him to get off, and he's like.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Under the law, you don't, like you need to apply
- 15:06Speaker 1: for a patent showing that you own this land. Yeah,
- 15:09Speaker 1: And Tom's like, yeah, I'm not gonna do that. And
- 15:11Speaker 1: I want to be like, yo, unless you have something
- 15:14Speaker 1: to hide, you want.
- 15:16Speaker 2: All these guys to follow the rules. You need to
- 15:18Speaker 2: follow the rules. What this story there, do you? Yeah,
- 15:20Speaker 2: like you're not above the law. Yeah, don't be so difficult. Yeah, totally, totally.
- 15:26Speaker 2: What do you think about the storyline of the mccabes
- 15:32Speaker 2: not knowing how to read? And then Tom goes to
- 15:36Speaker 2: Rebecca and is like, hey, yeah, this would be awesome
- 15:40Speaker 2: if you could teach them how to read and write.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I mean, I liked it. I have some thoughts on
- 15:47Speaker 1: we'll talk about it, but I liked it. I thought
- 15:48Speaker 1: it was really interesting how husband McCabe, whose name I
- 15:51Speaker 1: can't think of at the moment, Nash maybe Sam, I
- 15:53Speaker 1: think Samy's Sun. Oh, you're right, I don't remember, really
- 15:58Speaker 1: pushes back against Peggy when she like, our kids could
- 16:01Speaker 1: have more than we had, and I don't know what's
- 16:05Speaker 1: going on there, which just a quick flash of an
- 16:08Speaker 1: argument that we see and I don't know if he's
- 16:10Speaker 1: embarrassed or if what's the alternative because there isn't a
- 16:16Speaker 1: school for two hours, so.
- 16:17Speaker 2: How what are they going to do?
- 16:19Speaker 1: I don't know, but I honestly do like Tom stepping
- 16:23Speaker 1: in and saying like there's an easy solution here.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, I liked it too, but like I saw
- 16:29Speaker 2: that coming. Yeah, well, it took me maybe a little
- 16:33Speaker 2: bit longer to get there because I was like, Oh,
- 16:35Speaker 2: the daughter can't read because there's no school, but why
- 16:37Speaker 2: didn't the mom teacher read? Oh? Because the mom doesn't
- 16:39Speaker 2: know how to read either, Like you know, it took
- 16:41Speaker 2: me a minute.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I was surprised at the mom, the mom not
- 16:44Speaker 1: knowing that when she says like, oh, we'll leave the
- 16:48Speaker 1: book with you, and she's like, oh no again, I
- 16:50Speaker 1: was like, oh, mom, I can't read.
- 16:51Speaker 2: An though I did notice and like the background, they
- 16:56Speaker 2: had like some letters on the wall. I was like,
- 16:59Speaker 2: who's reading. I don't think it'd be in a jerk
- 17:01Speaker 2: about it. It's just like one of those things I noticed. Yeah,
- 17:05Speaker 2: it's all Maybe they were bills, but I don't know
- 17:07Speaker 2: if bills cut. I don't know, Okay, bills, they're electric
- 17:14Speaker 2: bill in the mail for them to light their wood stove.
- 17:18Speaker 2: I have to tell you that when she was idiots
- 17:21Speaker 2: when no, when she would no, no, no, no, Because when
- 17:24Speaker 2: she was like we got a the daughter's like, how
- 17:26Speaker 2: are gonna get that stove to work? And she's like, oh,
- 17:28Speaker 2: elbow grease. And I was like, but is there a
- 17:30Speaker 2: gas line? Like good, no, there is not. Don't try
- 17:35Speaker 2: to make me feel better. No. I genuinely thought that.
- 17:39Speaker 2: And I was like, they're gonna put wood in there
- 17:41Speaker 2: because I would not survive in eighteen seventy four, okay
- 17:44Speaker 2: me either barely survive in twenty twenty six. No. No.
- 17:50Speaker 1: When they were sleeping in last week and when they
- 17:52Speaker 1: were sleeping in that tent and the water starts dripping,
- 17:54Speaker 1: I was like, I'm out. I'm so out, get me
- 17:57Speaker 1: out of here. I would have never been the woman
- 18:00Speaker 1: he's like, yeah, we're going to sleep in our tent
- 18:02Speaker 1: and not. When they go to the prospector's camp and
- 18:05Speaker 1: that woman is raising her baby in the tent, I'm.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Like I can't. This is not I was not man
- 18:11Speaker 2: to live an uncomfortable line. And it was cold too,
- 18:14Speaker 2: I know. She's like, when can we move in? I
- 18:16Speaker 2: was like, oh, God, just let her move in and
- 18:17Speaker 2: sleep in the corner, please. She needs to get her
- 18:20Speaker 2: baby out of this camp. Oka, I have a question
- 18:23Speaker 2: for you. So, like when Rebecca goes to the Prospector's camp, right,
- 18:28Speaker 2: and she's like those are my shutters and that's the
- 18:31Speaker 2: wood from my like whatever. It was kind of like
- 18:35Speaker 2: the moment in high school when like you have the
- 18:38Speaker 2: big monologue and then like the kids start like slow clapping,
- 18:41Speaker 2: Like that's what I thought was going to happen there.
- 18:44Speaker 2: I was a little bit surprised at everybody's like GTFO, yes,
- 18:49Speaker 2: I can just showed me middle fingers. I was kind
- 18:52Speaker 2: of surprised that, like I thought, she gave it a
- 18:55Speaker 2: very impassioned speech, like she's like this, I'm trying to
- 18:59Speaker 2: make something for you guys here. Yeah, these men were
- 19:01Speaker 2: not going to bow down to this little lady. There's
- 19:03Speaker 2: no way say impassion. That's not an Actually that's the
- 19:05Speaker 2: word is a job. Okay, wanna talk wishes? I do
- 19:11Speaker 2: I need more clarity on Rebecca's past. Look, I know
- 19:14Speaker 2: I keep saying like, yeah, don't hand me over the
- 19:17Speaker 2: head with it begin with something. Yeah, I don't want
- 19:19Speaker 2: to wait all season. I don't want to wait all
- 19:20Speaker 2: season here, we we know she has a husband or
- 19:24Speaker 2: had a husband named Jim, and that their life was
- 19:27Speaker 2: not terrible. No, and he still loves her, right, like
- 19:31Speaker 2: their relationship didn't end badly other than that he died,
- 19:33Speaker 2: because he's like, I'm proud of you. You're doing it
- 19:35Speaker 2: in her dream sequence, right, she wasn't scared of him
- 19:38Speaker 2: when she's find right in the first episode, because remember
- 19:40Speaker 2: I talked about I thought it was a bruise on
- 19:42Speaker 2: her face, but it was probably just dirt. I thought
- 19:45Speaker 2: she was like scared of the husband, was running from him,
- 19:48Speaker 2: But that does not seem to be. That's not tracking here,
- 19:51Speaker 2: So that's okay, but it's leading into a bigger mystery,
- 19:54Speaker 2: like does he have like a very wealthy family that
- 19:58Speaker 2: wants control of her child? Don't know, Like what's the story?
- 20:01Speaker 2: Would give me something? What is she running from? Why
- 20:04Speaker 2: she scared of the police because the police wouldn't make
- 20:06Speaker 2: her go back to a place that she left unless
- 20:12Speaker 2: like she did something. I mean, I don't mean, I
- 20:16Speaker 2: don't know, I don't would they I don't know. I mean,
- 20:20Speaker 2: did women in eighteen seventy four have like free will
- 20:22Speaker 2: to do whatever they're a agency. Yeah.
- 20:25Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know, like we're seeing strong women here,
- 20:27Speaker 1: but I don't know how much agency these women was there.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. My next wish is he gets there
- 20:35Speaker 2: a little bit like you said at the end, but
- 20:37Speaker 2: Tom needs to smooth out his resistance a little bit.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Like I just I get the perspective that he wants
- 20:44Speaker 2: to protect his land, right, like he doesn't want these
- 20:49Speaker 2: people coming in and trying to like find gold on
- 20:54Speaker 2: his land or ruin his land or steal from him
- 20:58Speaker 2: or whatever. She's just so rigid. Sometimes he is rigid
- 21:03Speaker 2: for sure. It's okay, Like I don't hate it. I
- 21:07Speaker 2: just I need him to be a little more likable
- 21:10Speaker 2: for me to fall in love with Tom Moore. That's all.
- 21:15Speaker 2: I feel like.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Rebecca is being pulled in perhaps too many different directions
- 21:20Speaker 1: at this point. She has medical knowledge and will likely
- 21:24Speaker 1: be called upon again in the future. I'm actually surprised
- 21:27Speaker 1: she hasn't yet she delivered that baby. She's teaching Jenny
- 21:31Speaker 1: and Peggy to read. Which is that's going to turn
- 21:33Speaker 1: into more of a school situation or is this going
- 21:36Speaker 1: to be.
- 21:36Speaker 2: A one off?
- 21:37Speaker 1: I mean, maybe she'll teach Jenny and Peggy to read
- 21:40Speaker 1: and then Peggy will be able to carry that on,
- 21:42Speaker 1: because this woman cannot run a school and then also
- 21:45Speaker 1: renovate and run a boarding house.
- 21:47Speaker 2: That's a full time job.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Because she I assume plans on offering meals and she's
- 21:52Speaker 1: going to need to be in charge over there as
- 21:54Speaker 1: well as being a single mother and raising a child
- 21:57Speaker 1: on the frontier. Life is not easy, so she's there's
- 22:02Speaker 1: a lot that she's being asked to do.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Am I I'm kind of into watching Rebecca like DIY
- 22:11Speaker 2: this boarding house me too. I don't know why, but
- 22:14Speaker 2: I can't wait to see like the big reveal that
- 22:17Speaker 2: it's like, I like before and after, so the fireplace
- 22:21Speaker 2: in the corner and the comfy chairs and where she
- 22:24Speaker 2: gonna get all that stuff? Though I don't know people
- 22:26Speaker 2: vince I guess, but she's like, ah, I got to
- 22:28Speaker 2: fix the roof. I was like, are you gonna be
- 22:30Speaker 2: up there on that roof with the hammer and the
- 22:32Speaker 2: nails doing on? Don't know? She was outside split logs
- 22:34Speaker 2: of trying into lumber forfore true. I don't know. Maybe
- 22:39Speaker 2: maybe the prospectors are going to help. Oh that would
- 22:42Speaker 2: be interesting. Do you have any more wishes? That's it?
- 22:45Speaker 2: I just have one sticking point. It is the dialogue. Again.
- 22:48Speaker 2: I'm noticing it in this episode too, Like Rebecca's dialogue
- 22:53Speaker 2: is just different from everybody else's. I'm gonna have to
- 22:56Speaker 2: pay closer attention to that in future episodes. Maybe it's
- 22:59Speaker 2: an me thing perhaps, or maybe it's intentional to make
- 23:02Speaker 2: her stand out as a city girl that too, who
- 23:05Speaker 2: has more education than the majority of these people. Yeah,
- 23:09Speaker 2: let's talk to you to see that. I have two things,
- 23:13Speaker 2: let's hear it. The first thing is and I noticed
- 23:16Speaker 2: it in the costume, mean in this episode, I need
- 23:20Speaker 2: to know what is happening in the skirt situation with
- 23:23Speaker 2: like the volume and the structure, like it cinches in
- 23:27Speaker 2: at the waist and then it goes real voluminous and
- 23:30Speaker 2: they're wearing something underneath there. I don't know, it's like
- 23:33Speaker 2: a bump thing that they wear underneath. But I noticed,
- 23:35Speaker 2: like Rebecca's thing is like over her butt. Yes, but
- 23:38Speaker 2: what was the purpose of that? Oh? I think it's
- 23:42Speaker 2: just fashion of the eighteen seventy fours. I mean, I'm like,
- 23:48Speaker 2: what's under there? A metal like dress form. The bump
- 23:53Speaker 2: or structural fullness under a skirt is called a bustle.
- 23:57Speaker 2: A padded undergarment or wire frame used to create this
- 24:00Speaker 2: and support the drapery at the back of the skirt
- 24:03Speaker 2: just below the waist, popular in the nineteenth century, designed
- 24:07Speaker 2: to prevent heavy fabrics from dragging and to make the
- 24:10Speaker 2: waist appear smaller. Man women can't catch a freaking break,
- 24:14Speaker 2: creating a dramatic s curved silhouette as I'm splitting logs
- 24:20Speaker 2: in the back and my metal dress. Let her wear pants.
- 24:23Speaker 2: My gosh, look at me in my pants. Look at
- 24:25Speaker 2: me and my pants. Great.
- 24:27Speaker 1: My mom used to tell me that, you know, they
- 24:30Speaker 1: weren't allowed to wear pants to school, and when it
- 24:33Speaker 1: would rain, she and her friends would all call each
- 24:35Speaker 1: other and be like, are you gonna wear jeans?
- 24:37Speaker 2: Are you gonna wear jeans? Because it was raining and
- 24:38Speaker 2: that was the only reason they Oh wow, yeah. She's like,
- 24:42Speaker 2: they can't give all of us attention. My other did
- 24:44Speaker 2: you see? That was a funny one. I loved when
- 24:48Speaker 2: they're in the trading post and Olivia is talking with
- 24:52Speaker 2: Clayton and Constable Vaughn and Hattie's just in the back
- 24:57Speaker 2: watching Dustine. I was like so much mom energy there.
- 25:01Speaker 2: I loved it, Like why I like, what's happening here?
- 25:04Speaker 2: Like she knows what's happening. I loved it. It's like
- 25:08Speaker 2: just a little little something that made me laugh. I
- 25:10Speaker 2: have just wanted to see that. And that is.
- 25:12Speaker 1: As I was watching the show, my husband walked through
- 25:14Speaker 1: the room and saw Benjamin Airs on screen. He goes,
- 25:16Speaker 1: looks like Carl By, which he means Radkey from Summerhouse.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Does not look like Carl Radkey. No, it was the scruff.
- 25:28Speaker 2: But I'm telling you, if there is a movie version
- 25:30Speaker 2: of Summerhouse, maybe Airs could play Radkey. That's the Can
- 25:35Speaker 2: you see Airs as like the reform drug addict mid
- 25:38Speaker 2: two thousand? Boy? Yeah, guys, I'm in the mix. Yeah yeah.
- 25:45Speaker 1: This was episode two of eight. We'll be back next
- 25:48Speaker 1: time with more views. Thanks for listening, goodbye, bye. All
- 26:03Speaker 1: right friends, before we go, just a quick heads up,
