[SPEAKER_02]: Hello friend, thank you so very much for listening to the broadcast today.
0:04
[SPEAKER_02]: This week, we're taking a pause from our normally scheduled programming because I'd like to reintroduce to you, our founder, Dr. Paul Levine.
0:14
[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to preach for us all this week, Monday through Friday, a powerful message entitled The Demand of Discipleship.
0:23
[SPEAKER_02]: You see Jesus Christ, those of us that have taken His name, those of us that claim to be Christians that saved the people of the book, the Bible.
0:32
[SPEAKER_02]: We have a demand of discipleship.
0:35
[SPEAKER_02]: We are supposed to be disciples of Jesus Christ.
0:39
[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to begin the message in just a few moments, and I'll come back with a few closing statements at the conclusion of the broadcast today.
0:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Let me ask you, two New Year's, just like the hundreds of young people at the Bill Rice Range that listen to this message, some decades ago, listen now with all your heart.
0:59
[SPEAKER_02]: This is Dr. Paul Levine preaching, the demand of discipleship.
1:04
[SPEAKER_00]: Open your bribes, please, to mark chapter 10.
1:07
[SPEAKER_00]: While you're doing that, I got in on an explosion this afternoon.
1:11
[SPEAKER_00]: I hung around that last girl's ball game, which was such a close game, and I wanted to see who was going to win, and I was going to see how I wanted to see what was going to happen when the game was over.
1:23
[SPEAKER_00]: No matter which side one I knew this, it'd been to pick up.
1:27
[SPEAKER_00]: And so that girl was on third base, and then this
1:33
[SPEAKER_00]: which brought the girl in from third and won the game.
1:35
[SPEAKER_00]: I was right in the middle of an atomic explosion.
1:40
[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, there's a bunch of girls around me.
1:42
[SPEAKER_00]: You never saw it just jumping in the squealing and the horn and yelling.
1:47
[SPEAKER_00]: It was beautiful.
1:48
[SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
1:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
1:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Mark chapter 10, and in verse 33, we read well, let's begin.
2:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Last part of verse 32.
2:02
[SPEAKER_00]: took again the twelve thesis.
2:05
[SPEAKER_00]: It means he took again the twelve and began to tell them what things should happen unto him, saying, behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and the son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles, and they shall mock him, and shall scourge him,
2:32
[SPEAKER_00]: and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him, and the third day, he shall rise again.
2:40
[SPEAKER_00]: These are the words of the Lord Jesus.
2:42
[SPEAKER_00]: Whenever he spoke of his death, he always also spoke of his resurrection.
2:47
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, that's all staying while we read another verse.
2:58
[SPEAKER_00]: The Lord Jesus says the Son of Man referring to Himself must suffer many things and be rejected of the elders and the chief priests who scribes and be slain and be raised the third day.
3:16
[SPEAKER_00]: And He said to them all, if any man will come after me.
3:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, if we come after him, then it means that we like to share what he's going to suffer.
3:29
[SPEAKER_00]: So, if we come after him, it means that we'll have to suffer many things, first twenty-two, and be rejected, and learn something about death and the resurrection.
3:39
[SPEAKER_00]: If any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me, for whoever will save his life, shall lose it.
3:49
[SPEAKER_00]: But whoever will lose his life for my sake, the same or that person shall save it.
3:55
[SPEAKER_00]: For what is a man at Bennett, if he gained the whole world and lose himself or be cast away, or whoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the son of man be ashamed, when his young man is on glory and in his father's end of the holy angels.
4:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Dear Lord, we come to thee tonight as needy creatures,
4:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Knowing that without type blessing upon their service, it will all be in vain.
4:24
[SPEAKER_00]: Without, they, we know we can do nothing.
4:27
[SPEAKER_00]: We come asking, is earnestly as we know how.
4:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Die blessing upon die words, it's preach.
4:34
[SPEAKER_00]: It will order make it easy to preach again tonight.
4:37
[SPEAKER_00]: Help me to know what to say.
4:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Carter said, say the right thing.
4:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Say it in the right way.
4:42
[SPEAKER_00]: Lord, many young people listen to thy voice tonight.
4:46
[SPEAKER_00]: Be we hear from thee tonight.
4:48
[SPEAKER_00]: Be these young folks here, thy voice, and respond to thy call.
4:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for all who have already made decisions.
4:54
[SPEAKER_00]: but may there be many more who be wise enough to say this is my night this is a night I'm not going to let go by well that makes any decision I should make you give us some real victories for that glory we pray for thy sake your Lord and for the sake of these young folks who in Christ's name amen
5:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Now what we're reading about here, young people is discipleship being a disciple or a follower of the Lord.
5:19
[SPEAKER_00]: A disciple is somebody who listens to the leader, listens to somebody else, and they learn from that person, and then it is side to follow that person, and give that person early and they have, and give their undying and undivided loyalty to that person.
5:42
[SPEAKER_00]: Jim Jones, remember Jim Jones, just a few of you know, a few of you do.
5:46
[SPEAKER_00]: Jim Jones started out some folks thought he was a preacher of the gospel, but he fooled people, but he got some disciples, and some folks began to listen to Jim Jones, then they began to learn from Jim Jones.
5:58
[SPEAKER_00]: Then they began to follow Jim Jones.
6:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Then they gave Jim Jones everything ahead.
6:02
[SPEAKER_00]: They gave me his money, their money, left their friends, left their relatives, left their jobs, left everything.
6:09
[SPEAKER_00]: And for socaversing and following Jim Jones, and eventually they followed him all the way to South America and died a horrible death.
6:19
[SPEAKER_00]: just by following Jim Jones.
6:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, when they listen to Jim Jones, and believe what he told him, engage in Jones everything they had, and follow him all the way to South America, and follow him in the desk.
6:32
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what they were practicing?
6:33
[SPEAKER_00]: Discipleship.
6:35
[SPEAKER_00]: Say, that's discipleship.
6:36
[SPEAKER_00]: That's right, you're seeing discipleship with a long leader, of course.
6:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Now the Lord has said in these two passages, I'm going up the Jerusalem, and they're going to spit my face, but they're going to discourage my back, and they're going to persecute me, and they're going to kill me.
6:52
[SPEAKER_00]: And he says, that's what I'm going to say.
6:54
[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to follow me.
6:56
[SPEAKER_00]: And in the notice, in verse 22, this last passage.
7:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Luke 9, look at verse 22 again, underline these words.
7:04
[SPEAKER_00]: This unimensional suffer.
7:05
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the first word.
7:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Suffer of many things and be rejected.
7:09
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the second word.
7:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes and be slain.
7:14
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the third word underline.
7:16
[SPEAKER_00]: And be raised.
7:17
[SPEAKER_00]: The raise is the fourth word.
7:19
[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to suffer.
7:20
[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to be rejected.
7:21
[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to be slain and he is going to be raised the third day.
7:28
[SPEAKER_00]: What the Lord wants you to do now is to be a real follower of his, not just get saved and forget it.
7:34
[SPEAKER_00]: But decide that you're going to follow the Lord and be a real disciple of his.
7:39
[SPEAKER_00]: And we are told to make disciples.
7:41
[SPEAKER_00]: That's what we're trying to do here this week in the camp.
7:44
[SPEAKER_00]: When the Lord Jesus said go and make this go and teach all nations, what do you want to really mean?
7:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Just go and make disciples of all nations.
7:51
[SPEAKER_00]: and he won't be a foul of it, not just get saved, but then the foul.
7:56
[SPEAKER_00]: And when you get saved, you become a disciple of the Lord, and not what he wants is a real good discipleship.
8:01
[SPEAKER_00]: Don't know what's the first thing.
8:03
[SPEAKER_00]: He says, in verse 22, with Son of Man, most suffer may He save.
8:07
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what that means?
8:08
[SPEAKER_00]: That not only means that when He went toward Jerusalem, where He knew He was going to suffer, not only means that, but it also means that if you follow Him, you're going to have to suffer.
8:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Now he lays it right on the line.
8:20
[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't fool around about this.
8:22
[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't tell you it's going to be all John bells and peaches and cream and you're going to get a new Cadillac every year and you're going to get Miss America for a wife and you're going to get a new Cadillac every six months, no sir.
8:34
[SPEAKER_00]: He says, I'm going out this summer.
8:36
[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to follow me, and that means that maybe you would have suffered too.
8:40
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what they said about the Lord, you know, He was most lied about, misunderstood, and persecuted, and how did men never live?
8:47
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what they said about Him in Matthew 1119, they said He was a glutton and a wine beverage.
8:52
[SPEAKER_00]: Men's eat, he would drink wine.
8:54
[SPEAKER_00]: In proper chapter 23 and verse 20, the Bible says, don't be with wine bibbers.
8:59
[SPEAKER_00]: If you see a guy who drink wine over here, you get drunk all alone, stay away from him.
9:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Now they said, he was the wine babber, and what you know what that means?
9:07
[SPEAKER_00]: That means stay away from him.
9:08
[SPEAKER_00]: He's the wine babber, and I can imagine the mother saying to their little kids, and they whisper, then he just would be coming walking by and their mothers would call her little kids off, see that man over there?
9:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's a glutton.
9:19
[SPEAKER_00]: They had men over there.
9:20
[SPEAKER_00]: He's a wine bearer.
9:21
[SPEAKER_00]: You stay away from him.
9:22
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the way they talk about him.
9:24
[SPEAKER_00]: All he ever did was good.
9:25
[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't say anybody any harm, but they lied about him.
9:29
[SPEAKER_00]: And you know what they said about him?
9:30
[SPEAKER_00]: And in the search chapter of Mark, they said that he had an unclean spirit.
9:35
[SPEAKER_00]: That means they said, he had a demon.
9:38
[SPEAKER_00]: And imagine the teenagers.
9:39
[SPEAKER_00]: They'd see the Lord Jesus walked by.
9:41
[SPEAKER_00]: One teenager said the other, you know what I took, but that felt right over there.
9:44
[SPEAKER_00]: What?
9:44
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, he's got a devil in him.
9:46
[SPEAKER_00]: He's got a demon in him.
9:47
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's a glutton.
9:48
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's a wine member.
9:49
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the way they talk to about him.
9:52
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, in John chapter 15, the Lord Jesus said, if the world hate you, you just remember something the world hated me before he hated you.
10:00
[SPEAKER_00]: And he didn't said, if you're up the world, the world will love his own.
10:04
[SPEAKER_00]: But you're not up the world, because I've chosen you out of the world, and therefore the world hates you.
10:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the Lord Jesus suffered the hatred of this world, and if you follow him like you should follow him, you may also suffer some of the hatred of this world.
10:19
[SPEAKER_00]: That's what he's saying.
10:20
[SPEAKER_00]: So let me ask you this question.
10:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Would you say tonight, I'll be willing to follow the Lord Jesus, even if this whole world hates me.
10:27
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, that's what the world looks pretty nice to the people, and that will be getting back home.
10:31
[SPEAKER_00]: And that crowd back home that you have to go back and earn face, that are of this world.
10:35
[SPEAKER_00]: And you are, are you going to take a stand for Jesus Christ for the thing?
10:39
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they'll think you're crazy.
10:41
[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe they'll start to hate you.
10:43
[SPEAKER_00]: Would you follow the Lord if you knew it meant that?
10:45
[SPEAKER_00]: In second Timothy chapter 3 and verse 12, Paul said that, If any man will, that means he, that's an act of his will, he will decide that he's going to do this.
10:57
[SPEAKER_00]: live Godly and Christ Jesus.
10:59
[SPEAKER_00]: He shall suffer a persecution.
11:01
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, a lot of you kids go to the state schools, and if you'd carry out Bible and New Testament at the school, and if you'd buy your head and pray when you eat your lunch, what would us as kids?
11:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Say, what would they do?
11:14
[SPEAKER_00]: Someone wanted to hate you for it.
11:16
[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't laugh at you.
11:16
[SPEAKER_00]: They'd ridicule you.
11:17
[SPEAKER_00]: They'd make fun of you.
11:18
[SPEAKER_00]: That's what the Lord said's going to happen.
11:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Said, I'm going to suffer.
11:21
[SPEAKER_00]: And he suffered the hate to this world.
11:23
[SPEAKER_00]: And he said the world, hey, you hated me before it hated you.
11:25
[SPEAKER_00]: Flip his chapter 119, Paul said, we not only have the privilege to believe on Jesus Christ, but the suffer for he say.
11:32
[SPEAKER_00]: So just remember something.
11:34
[SPEAKER_00]: Look.
11:35
[SPEAKER_00]: If you have to suffer the hatred of this world, in order to do the will of God and in order to follow the Lord Jesus, just remember that they hated Him too.
11:44
[SPEAKER_00]: Then He not only suffered the hatred of this world, but sometimes He suffered loneliness.
11:49
[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, He left glory and He came down to this world and no home of His own.
11:54
[SPEAKER_00]: And in John 7, 53, that's the last verse of John 7.
12:00
[SPEAKER_00]: The Bible says every man went to his own house.
12:03
[SPEAKER_00]: And the very next verse, the first chapter of the next verse, says, but Jesus went to the Mount of Ireland.
12:09
[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't have any homework and go.
12:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, if you do the world of God and you follow the Lord like He wants you to follow Him, you may not know something about loneliness and suffer the suffering of loneliness in the homes.
12:21
[SPEAKER_02]: What a powerful thought we've heard today.
12:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Let me ask you, friend, is your relationship with God worth?
12:28
[SPEAKER_02]: loneliness with men.
12:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we're going to continue this talk tomorrow.
12:33
[SPEAKER_02]: Dr. Paul is he's going to give a personal anecdote and illustration as we begin the broadcast tomorrow.
12:39
[SPEAKER_02]: I hope you will join us.
12:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you so much for listening to the broadcast today.
12:44
[SPEAKER_02]: Have a great day for his glory.
12:46
[SPEAKER_02]: God bless.
