- Craig: Breaking up is never easy, but sometimes you have to do it for you, for the other person, for those around you. Today we're taking a look at five guys that I think it's time to break up with in fantasy football. So let's get into it. Well, welcome back to Fat Daddy Sports. My name is Craig. If you're new here, drop a like, hit that subscribe button, and let's get into the five guys that I think it's time to cut ties with in fantasy football. Some of these are gonna make sense, some of them maybe don't make sense to you, but let's jump right into it. Starting at the quarterback position, this is a guy who I was very, very high on coming into this season. If you've been here all along through the offseason, you know who it is. It is none other Then Justin Herbert. We take a look here at Justin Herbert's numbers. ⁓ you can see that he is currently quarterback number 23 on the season. ⁓ 72% rostered still, 24% started still. That's gotta be in two quarterback leagues, maybe even 14 team leagues. ⁓ if you're in one of those leagues, maybe you could you could make a case for keeping him. But here as a low-end quarterback, too, there's just really no reason to keep him in a a one quarterback league in a 10 or a 12 team league. I just don't see the upside in it. He is playing terrible right now. This Chargers offense looks absolutely lost. ⁓ head coach Jim Harbaugh has said that Mike McDaniel is not in any jeopardy of losing his job, but he may be the only person in America that thinks that. Herbert has finished just poorly over these first four weeks. 14 points, nine points, 13 points, and 11 points. ⁓ he's also got at least one interception in every game so far this year, two of them in two of the games. ⁓ it's just been a disaster for this Chargers offense. If you're still rolling Justin Herbert out there as your quarterback one or even burning a bench spot on him, I think it's definitely time to move on, ⁓ especially if you have shorter benches. You know, there's a lot of leagues now that only use up about about five bench spots. If that's your league and you're using one of your bench spots on Justin Herbert. There's far better options out there on the waiver wire. I can almost guarantee it. ⁓ weekly streams, guys that maybe ⁓ you weren't expecting to go off this year, and they have showed out a lot this year. I think you can pick those guys up pretty easily. And I just don't think Justin Herbert's worth holding on to right now. Ladd McConkey is banged up. ⁓ in this passing offense, just this offense in general looks very lost. They're using three different running backs. The wide receivers are a mess. I just want no part of this Chargers offense. I'm completely out, and I want nothing to do with Justin Herbert. The next guy that we're going to talk about is in Los Angeles as well, over to the Rams side of things, and it's Blake Corum, running back two there for the Rams. ⁓ I was very high on Corum. ⁓ down the stretch last year, him and Kyron Williams really kind of split snaps or split drives. They would rotate one drive on, one drive off, and it looked like it was going to be a fifty-fifty split coming into this year. And it Even at the start of this year, I mean, you can see right here 23% snapshare in week one, went up to forty-five, then back down to ⁓ twenty-nine, down to fifteen now. And Kyron Williams has looked very, very good in his opportunities. ⁓ Sean McVay has basically come out and said this is Kyron's job. But Corum is just not getting the opportunities. ⁓ 10 carries, 12 carries, six carries, and five carries. He's not really utilized in the past game, hardly at all, outside of this game against Denver. He's just not a guy that I'm I'm looking to roster anymore. I think as a handcuff, he's definitely a high priority handcuff, maybe the highest priority of handcuffs out there. ⁓ but I'm not looking, if I don't own Kyron Williams, I'm not really looking to keep Blake Coram unless I have a deeper bench or I'm in, you a 12 or 14 team league. If that's the case, then I definitely would still use a bench spot on Quorum, but definitely a stash at this point in the year. I mean, we're a month in, and ⁓ right around this time is where you start to really see true numbers on backfield splits and how things are actually going across the NFL. And this Rams offense is definitely run through Puka and Devontae Adams and Kyron Williams, which isn't really a surprise to anybody. But I did think that Blake Corum was going to have more of a factor this year. It's just not happening, and I'm okay saying We need to see other people right now. Another guy that I am out on right now is running back for the commanders, Jakori Kraski Merritt. ⁓ I wasn't necessarily super high on him coming into the year, but just the way that that whole backfield kind of s shook out, I was a little bit more high on. I thought after week one, maybe he could take this backfield over. ⁓ saw 49% of the snaps in that first week, saw 16 carries, only one target, one reception. ⁓ and then it's kind of been downhill from there. 12 carries, 19 carries in week three, but still was only able to turn that into 36 yards, 5.3 PPR points. And then this past week only nine carries. They just ⁓ re-signed Austin Eckler to their squad. Rashad White is banged up, but he'll be back at some point here. ⁓ they just have a lot of mouths that they're trying to feed in that backfield. They've also got a couple wide receivers that need to get the ball. And they've got two quarterbacks that are hurt right now in Jaden Daniels and Marcus Mariota. We'll see if Daniels comes back this week or in the next couple of weeks. But this commander's offense is really just not very ⁓ appealing to me at all right now. And I I really, you know, Jacori Kraski Merritt, you would think, ⁓ should have the workload to be a solidified RB two for you going forward in the year. And I just don't get that feeling at all. ⁓ he's kind of the same thing as Quorum. If I've got a deep bench or I'm in a big league, I have no problem stashing him on my bench, I guess. But certainly if I'm in a ten team league, I'm cutting him loose for sure. Probably even in a twelve team league. I I don't really feel like he's going to turn things around. ⁓ he's currently the running back thirty four rostered in eighty four percent of leagues. I guess maybe if you're in a twelve team league, you hold him for another couple of weeks and see how it turns out. But This commander's offense just does not look very good right now. So I wouldn't have real high hopes. If you needed to to drop him to make a different move, I understand it. ⁓ but if you can hold him on your bench, I guess maybe you hold him. All right, this next guy, I am good to cut in any format, any league, any size league, whatever it is. Get Michael Pittman off of my teams. I want nothing to do with him. I wasn't really high on him coming into this year. I've been very vocal about my feelings on this Steelers offense. But Aaron Rodgers visibly does not enjoy having Michael Pittman on his offense. He does not like to throw to him. He does not look to throw to him. in week one, 88% of the snaps, three targets. Missed week two, ⁓ comes back, plays 73%, five targets, 72%, four targets. ⁓ he is still battling through ⁓ that planner fasciitis issue, and that's probably gonna take him some time to get back to fully healthy, maybe even this entire year. But it's just not going well right now for him on the Steelers offense. ⁓ Rodgers is looking other places for the passes. And I just I don't want anything to do with Michael Pittman. He's currently ranked as wide receiver number 94, rostered in 67% of leagues. I'm in multiple 12 team leagues, and he's sitting out there on the waiver wire just for free for anybody to pick up, and nobody is touching him. I think if he's still on your bench, it's definitely time to cut ties with him. All right, this next guy, Ameka Abuka or Amika Abigbu, as Gronk once called him. this one might surprise some people, but I think if you're in a 10 team league, I I'm okay getting rid of Ameka Abuka. If you can get anything out of him on the trade market, I would definitely start there first ⁓ before just cutting him. If you're in a 10 team league, especially if you're in a 10 team with short benches, ⁓ ⁓ I think you're okay to cut loose a Mekka Abuka. He has just not looked good this year. This Buccaneers offense has not looked good. I don't think it's as much of an Abuka problem as it is the Buccaneers and just Baker Mayfield, ⁓ and now Jalen Daniels. But I just I I don't think that you need to keep him on your roster. If certainly if you're in a bigger league or, you know, have a lot of bench spots, don't get rid of him. But in those smaller leagues, shorter benches, I think it's definitely time to move on. Like I said, if you can get anything on the trade market, definitely start there first. But this is an 0-4 Buccaneers team. There's reports out there that Baker could miss the next six to eight weeks. So we're talking week twelve before he's back, maybe. ⁓ the Buccaneers are 0-4. We're talking about maybe ⁓ you know, a three and nine team at that point. Who knows? Who knows what's gonna happen? I mean, Jalen Daniels did not look good this past weekend. Maybe they end up signing somebody. I don't know who that would be, but I don't think that this is a Buccaneers team that's gonna win many games while Baker Mayfield is out. And really, even the way he looked before the injury, I don't know how many games they would win, even if he was there. I really am concerned about this Buccaneers offense and Omeka Abuka. They've obviously got Chris Godwin there. They've got Ted Hirsch there. Kate Otten has eaten up some targets. And then the backfield's kind of a mess right now as well with Kenny Gainwell and Bucky Irving. ⁓ I d I just don't think that there's enough snaps to go around for all of these guys to eat. I don't think a mecha Obuka is going to return on his value at this point in the year. And this is the point of the year where depending on what your record is, this is the type of move that you've got to make. If you're one of those teams that's sitting there at 0 and 4, 1 and 3, you cannot continue to keep rolling a mecha buka out there as your wide receiver too. If you're maybe three and one or four and ⁓ maybe you can afford to hold him on your bench, but ⁓ if you have a below 500 record, you cannot continue to roll him out there. Just depends on where you're at on the season and what you do with him going forward. All right. Well, that's all I've got for you today. These are five guys that I am okay getting rid of.
