- 2:48Gentlemen, we have finally made it.
- 2:52Week 1, man, Week 1, it's been a long time coming.
- 2:57It has been a long time coming and I mean it looks like so much
- 3:02going on in the chat tonight I believe.
- 3:04Oh man, we already jumping in the chat right?
- 3:07Everybody jumping in the chat free Caleb we going to talk
- 3:10about that? Oh man, people feeling good
- 3:14vibes hey. I got a question right quick
- 3:17before we get started on on some serious stuff.
- 3:20Yeah. Was that was the intro song
- 3:22longer today than normal? Because I feel like I was
- 3:27sitting here for like 10 minutes waiting to come in.
- 3:30Maybe it was anticipation. Tally is ready for Week 1.
- 3:35Tally you're. Ready on that one.
- 3:37Use that word ready loosely like that.
- 3:39I don't know about ready. We going to see after the night
- 3:42how ready I am. So we got a question here
- 3:46because my child had baseball practice till 9:00 tonight.
- 3:50Yeah, didn't leave the child at the baseball field.
- 3:52I not good parenting so. I mean, you can, it's, it's just
- 3:58not advised. I mean, CPS might be showing up
- 4:01or something at some point, but. They may be, but you know, all
- 4:05good Shelton. How?
- 4:06How's life, man? It's been good, man.
- 4:09We're going to be pretty busy this week.
- 4:11Students are back at least. I wouldn't marry tomorrow.
- 4:14I know obviously they're coming back all over the country.
- 4:16So this is kind of time where, you know, campuses become lively
- 4:20again, unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how
- 4:22you look at it. But but yeah, it's gonna get,
- 4:25we're gonna get going here. Right, Right, right.
- 4:27In a few days. Hopefully you don't have a
- 4:30Saturday night at Sharky situation.
- 4:34Not go there. It's too soon, too soon, right?
- 4:38All right, well, real quick, we do.
- 4:40We do have a special guest to kick off the show doing things a
- 4:43little different than we normally do.
- 4:45We're going to start with Know the Enemy because we got a
- 4:47special guest. But real quick before we get
- 4:50into that some I'm sure some fun back and forth.
- 4:53We get in to tell the truth Tuesday as we tell the truth
- 4:56about the death chart because it looks like a full of a lot of
- 4:59lies in my opinion in stealing that from you Tally and some
- 5:03other people that use it. This is like really heartfelt
- 5:07because you don't want to see anything bad happen to anybody.
- 5:10And if y'all were not aware, have not seen it.
- 5:14Gamecocks defensive line coach Trevian Robertson was involved
- 5:18in a pretty bad car accident last week.
- 5:21I I think he is in stable condition, still in ICU.
- 5:25Got a long way to go. But you know, it's a game.
- 5:29Something like this happens. It it, it does, the game's still
- 5:33going to be played. They going to hit each other,
- 5:35they going to try to win it, But you see something like this, you
- 5:39know, prayers up for him and his family, entire Gamecocks
- 5:42community concerning that because it's a life changing
- 5:48event. So again, shout out on that.
- 5:51And well, Brian, let's go ahead and bring on our guest this week
- 5:57is from the podcast Cox Talking Gamecocks is Tim Cox.
- 6:06Tim, Hey, how you doing this evening?
- 6:07What's going on fellas? Thanks for having me.
- 6:10Anytime, Tim, thanks for joining us.
- 6:13So you know, we were chit chatting beforehand and we did
- 6:17not get to ask you, you asked us, but now we'll ask you.
- 6:20Give us a little bit. How did this start?
- 6:22How did your podcast start? Where you from, what you doing?
- 6:25And are you going to the game Sunday?
- 6:28Yeah, appreciate it. Well, First off, that's a
- 6:29beautiful shout out. You had to coach Robertson,
- 6:31obviously very tough situation for not just him, but the other
- 6:35family that was involved. So yeah, anyone who's out there
- 6:37sees Gofundmes definitely support that.
- 6:40But yeah, so Cox talking Gamecocks.
- 6:43I mean, obviously my name kind of works with the mascot of our
- 6:48of our team. So once South Carolina graduated
- 6:51in 2015 and you know, that was really my first exposure to like
- 6:56big time college athletics and just absolutely fell in love
- 7:00with it. I was a sports management major,
- 7:02so just like really dove into every aspect of it there.
- 7:05And afterwards, after you graduate, it's kind of that one
- 7:09tangible thing that you and your buddies can still talk about and
- 7:13you can go to the games and just kind of stay connected through.
- 7:15So any chance I had, I would talk Gamecock sports to whoever
- 7:20would listen. And I think the passion only
- 7:23grew the farther I got away from graduation.
- 7:26And then, you know, we had our Will Muschamp era, or error, if
- 7:31you will, and then brought on Shane Beamer as a head coach.
- 7:34It was just on the heels of COVID where, you know, I was
- 7:37like, you know what, if we're going to try and shake things up
- 7:39here and chase a passion, there's a new chapter in
- 7:42Gamecock football, so let's go for it now.
- 7:44So I've been doing it for going on Year 5 now, which is crazy,
- 7:48but it's been a blast. I'm on Twitter as Cox Gamecocks
- 7:53and Instagram Cox talking Gamecocks.
- 7:55I do shows twice a week, Mondays and Fridays, and try to keep
- 8:00them nice and brief and fun. So yeah, that's, that's me in a
- 8:03nutshell. But I've been, I've been looking
- 8:05forward to this. When you all reached out, I was
- 8:07like, not only am I raring to go for Week 1, but I'm raring to go
- 8:10to talk some smack about the Beamer Bowl and I'm ready for
- 8:13this one. Man, you brought up the Beamer
- 8:16Bowl that that's got me, that's got me having some, some feels.
- 8:19All right, First thing we got to talk about what what, what
- 8:23colors, what logo is Frank going to have on at this game?
- 8:27Y'all are not going to want to hear this.
- 8:28He's going to be wearing Gamecocks.
- 8:30I, I'm, I'm calling it now. I mean he's been down in
- 8:33Columbia multiple times wearing the garnet in black.
- 8:36I'm sure you're vomiting in your mouth right now, but I foresee
- 8:41him in garnet in black. Maybe he'll put on a a Virginia
- 8:44Tech cap, but who knows. It's.
- 8:47Going to be like like one of those like parents of players
- 8:50that are on both teams. They got like the split.
- 8:53Jersey, I could see it. I can see the split or maybe
- 8:56just like a nice neutral color like blue or something that's
- 9:00just completely unaffiliated with anything.
- 9:04How you feel about that? Yeah, Frank gonna have to have a
- 9:06team on. I don't know which one is going
- 9:08to be, but Frank gonna have to have a team on.
- 9:10We're going to find out a lot Sunday.
- 9:12It's going to be great. About about what Frank going to
- 9:15do. But I kind of feel like he going
- 9:18to have Gamecock stuff on. That's just how I feel.
- 9:21That's blood, man. I mean, represent representing
- 9:24his son. You know, I feel like that's
- 9:27what it's going to be. If it was in Blacksburg, I think
- 9:30he might have put on Southern Virginia Tech for the people,
- 9:33but being neutral site, he's going to be in the box with
- 9:36other Gamecock fans and family. So that's just that's my
- 9:39prediction right there. Frank, if you listening to this,
- 9:42you better show it with some damn hokey stuff on.
- 9:44You got a statue sitting in front of that stadium?
- 9:46You better get down the road he's in.
- 9:49I took a picture with that statue.
- 9:50We did take a picture with that statue.
- 9:52It looked like it looked like Hank Hill daddy, but it's still
- 9:55a statue. It's.
- 9:58Close enough. It's close enough.
- 9:59Yeah. It's in the ballpark.
- 10:00You know who it is? Yeah, we know who it is.
- 10:03It's. It's better than some statues
- 10:05and things I've seen in the past.
- 10:07Some of them are just God awful. But but let's let's get into it
- 10:12because obviously this is your team.
- 10:16This is the team you focus on. So we've got quite a few
- 10:20questions we want to ask and I'm going to lead it off and I won't
- 10:25talk. We're going to start on offense
- 10:26and I won't talk about Mike Schuler because yeah, you, you
- 10:29look at it, you got Mike Schuler coming in, former Alabama head
- 10:33coach, you know, former NFL coordinator, you know, worked
- 10:37there with Cam for a few years up in up in Carolina.
- 10:41And last year he was brought in as a special assistant to the
- 10:45offense. Now my question is, was this
- 10:49effectively Lamoris is built similar to Cam similar game?
- 10:54Was this strictly for that? And was the always move to OC
- 10:58going to happen regardless whatever?
- 11:01Was it Dow all right? Yeah, Dow Loggins.
- 11:05Dow Loggins, who went up to at State.
- 11:08Was that the plan from the beginning you think?
- 11:11I don't know if it was necessarily the beginning.
- 11:13I mean, I think Shane would have loved to have kept dabble on,
- 11:17you know, things started to really click with with them and
- 11:19especially that last six game stretch of the season last year.
- 11:22I think it was a natural transition for a few reasons.
- 11:25Like, yes, Shula has experience with athletic quarterbacks like
- 11:30Cam, but he also has experience with a guy like Josh Allen
- 11:32briefly. He like he will name drop Daniel
- 11:35Jones. I'm not putting him anywhere
- 11:37near my quarterback. It's, you know, a guy.
- 11:40Subject. That's the sore subject.
- 11:42So yeah. So I think when you had, he was
- 11:47the on field assistant for Dabble Loggins.
- 11:50So the guy who was talking and sitting down with Lenoris on the
- 11:54field when the bullets are flying was Shula.
- 11:58And so I think you're able to keep some synergy between maybe
- 12:01some of the terminology, knowing some of Lenoris's tendencies.
- 12:05And I'm pretty sure Lenoris gave it a glowing review and a green
- 12:09light when the decision was, you know, more or less finalized,
- 12:14like, hey, we're going to do this.
- 12:15But I just felt like it was a natural transition where you
- 12:17didn't have to overhaul the entire system.
- 12:19And, you know, I think we're all cautiously optimistic to see how
- 12:23it goes. Well, I'm hoping that it goes
- 12:25bad because I'm from Alabama. Sure.
- 12:28And I'm used to Mike Shula being Alabama's coach, and that is not
- 12:32something you want to talk about in the state of Alabama.
- 12:35Did not go well. So if I can see something like
- 12:38that happen, You seem cool, Tim, but I want him to do bad.
- 12:42But anyway, we going to go to the next.
- 12:44We going to go to the next thing.
- 12:45Talking about your quarterback, which everybody kind of knows
- 12:48him. If you haven't heard about him,
- 12:50probably haven't been paying attention to college football.
- 12:53Lenore Sellers getting a ton of hype this offseason, which is
- 12:58warranted kind of. Could you tell us a little bit
- 13:01about him and what you know of him and what you know kind of
- 13:04what we expect for him from him in this game?
- 13:06Yeah, I mean Lenoris is we're calling him la savior.
- 13:11If you he he was a guy that when he came in, you know, was
- 13:17recruited a little bit under the radar, was actually at one point
- 13:20committed to your in state rivals Virginia and we were all
- 13:24excited about him. We knew he had all the ability
- 13:27in the world and what you saw last year was really his
- 13:30maturation and realizing some of that potential where those first
- 13:34four or five games he was actually banged up a lot.
- 13:37It was battling through some injuries, but once he was able
- 13:40to stay on the field and develop and get those game reps, you saw
- 13:43it all come together. He's big, he's fast, he's
- 13:46physical. Everyone loves to talk about his
- 13:48ability to escape the pocket and run, which is incredible.
- 13:52And there's a play from our game against A&M where he just truck
- 13:56stick to dude to get the first down so he can do all that.
- 14:00But I think what's underrated about him is his passing
- 14:03ability. Like last year he had some
- 14:06fantastic throws, but you could tell he wasn't quite as polished
- 14:09as maybe you'd want your SEC quarterback to be.
- 14:13So that's where I think Mike Shula is going to really help
- 14:15him. And what they've really preached
- 14:17this year is working on the footwork, knowing when to tuck
- 14:20and run instead of having to rely on it.
- 14:21So I think you have a real possibility that Lenora Sellers
- 14:25can be a top two or three quarterback in all of college
- 14:29football this year. And, you know, we're all kind of
- 14:31holding our breath. You know, we haven't really had
- 14:34something like that in Colombia. Like, you know, we had Spencer
- 14:37Rattler recently. He had his good moments and his
- 14:41last year in Carolina was really good, although the winds didn't
- 14:44really stack up. You got to go back to Connor
- 14:47Shaw as a guy who really was that warrior for the Gamecocks,
- 14:51but more of a college quarterback scramble, like
- 14:54didn't really have that necessarily pro ability, but a
- 14:57guy that just won a ton of games, bled Garnet and black.
- 15:01But Lenoris is kind of that first time that we're looking at
- 15:05this like, holy crap, we might have a top overall quarterback
- 15:09pick in our locker room right now and a guy who's going to
- 15:12give us a chance in every game. So I know I just went on for a
- 15:16little bit, but if you can't tell, we're we're we're pretty
- 15:18excited about Lenora sellers around these parts.
- 15:21Well, you, well, you should be. I mean, last year, what, 65%
- 15:24completions, 18 to 7 ratio. You know, rusher over 500 yards
- 15:31and he's A and he's and he's a big guy.
- 15:33It's not like you're going out there.
- 15:35I mean, was HE63240? He's a.
- 15:37Big guy like that, what about I'll?
- 15:41I'll ask this because he played every game last year.
- 15:45All but one game last year. Yeah, he sat out one game due to
- 15:49injury, but he got knocked out of the LSU game, which was a
- 15:54heartbreaker for South Carolina. And you could just tell he
- 15:58wasn't 100%. And, and some of these other
- 16:01ones earlier in the year, I believe it was the Ole Miss game
- 16:05where he came back. And that was his first like game
- 16:09where he was like fully healthy back from recovering from the
- 16:11injuries. And so those last six games that
- 16:13Carolina won all in a row was really when he was fully healthy
- 16:18and acclimated. What was the injury last year?
- 16:21I mean, you know, it's like us, you can tell us.
- 16:24Well, Kyle Drum was hurt like it was his foot, then it was
- 16:26shoulder and his knee is everything.
- 16:28What was that particular injury early in the season last year?
- 16:31It was a high ankle sprain. Yeah.
- 16:34So it, it lingered. And especially for a young
- 16:38quarterback who was relying on his legs a little bit earlier in
- 16:41the season, you know it it, it was tough, but, you know,
- 16:46managed through it and, you know, came out on the other side
- 16:49better for it. Well, let's talk about the
- 16:52biggest news for the the Gamecocks this week.
- 16:54Rasul Faison. Let me know if I'm pronouncing
- 16:56that correctly. Got got approved by the NCAA for
- 17:00a new another year of eligibility it seems.
- 17:04He's like 46, get a job. Yes, it it seems that a lot of
- 17:08this is contingent upon, you know, what judge you get, but
- 17:11all these guys train for, you know, four or five teams in
- 17:13their career. But that's just the way things
- 17:15are today. So well, I was looking at his
- 17:18PFF stats. Obviously he was very well rated
- 17:21in the running game specifically seemed like he struggled a
- 17:23little bit with run blocking last year.
- 17:27But you know, for the most part a pretty good runner has some
- 17:29good after contact numbers. Tell us about his game, what
- 17:33what him being eligible will provide for the offense that
- 17:36maybe they wouldn't have otherwise if he was off the
- 17:38field. Yeah, yeah.
- 17:39I mean, that was a that was a hell of a countdown we had with
- 17:42the NCAA, like, you know, and brief history, like I don't
- 17:46think many people have glowing reviews of the NCAA, but it just
- 17:49feels like for South Carolina, like you always get the short
- 17:52end to stick with these rulings where I was convinced he was
- 17:55going to get cleared, but only after the game with y'all.
- 17:58So we're all very excited about that.
- 18:01I mean, the running backroom as it sits without him, I had faith
- 18:05in, you know, even without him, it's three or four guys deep,
- 18:08guys with experience. Name you're going to hear a lot
- 18:10is Oscar Attaway. He's now going to be that really
- 18:13RB2 more likely. But Faison was a guy that the
- 18:16coaching staff were really high on kind of penciled him is an as
- 18:21an RB one. I think he's a violent runner He
- 18:24can make a guy miss can run between the tackles just as well
- 18:27as going outside. But I think when you're really
- 18:29going to see his value is catching and in those short
- 18:33intermediate passes, those those screens and things like that.
- 18:36So his run after the catch ability as a running back I
- 18:40think is really exciting. And just now it's that much more
- 18:44deeper of a running backroom. So he's been practicing under
- 18:48the assumption that he's going to be cleared.
- 18:51So I don't see necessarily this drop off in usage, but there
- 18:55might be a little bit where maybe a guy like Addaway or a
- 18:59Fuller goes a little bit more than maybe normal.
- 19:03But yeah, we're all really excited for Sewell and what he
- 19:05brings to the table. Let let let me ask this because
- 19:10I think the one thing that I had for for Mike Shula's offense is
- 19:16Mike Shula's pro guy. Usually most pro guys are 5050.
- 19:21They're going to try to balance it out.
- 19:22You you look at the data from last year, you know y'all were a
- 19:276364% run team versus a 30% pass team.
- 19:35Do you have a pause for a second that could they, and we know how
- 19:40this goes because this was us last year, Could they try to
- 19:44push too much pass early? Because we're trying to get
- 19:48Lenore's to go to the next level to get ready and effectively go
- 19:52away from the bread and butter, go away from what works early in
- 19:56the season because we're trying to make him an NFL player.
- 20:00Is does that fear? Because you know?
- 20:03Effectively, we saw it happen with Carmen Jones last year.
- 20:06They tried to make him a pocket pass for what he wasn't and you
- 20:10saw some of the results we had until finally they decided to
- 20:14switch it back. Yeah, you guys are great.
- 20:16First off, you guys are coming out with stats that like I
- 20:18haven't even looked at like we got, we got ratings and things
- 20:21like that. So kudos to y'all, but it's a
- 20:24good question. Now, I think some of that 65
- 20:29split that you had was you do have a young quarterback and you
- 20:34have to lean on, you had a guy in Rocket Sanders last year who
- 20:38was one of the better backs in the SEC.
- 20:39So you're going to work what's what's cooking for you.
- 20:42And the wide receiver corps last year was pretty thin and rather
- 20:48inexperienced. This year, the wide receiver
- 20:50corps returns basically all the the main guys from last year in
- 20:54the 2 deep. So you have that.
- 20:55You have experienced tight ends as well, brought in a good tight
- 20:58end transfer from Kentucky, and you have a bunch of exciting
- 21:01freshmen wide receivers as well. But the offensive line has a lot
- 21:07of continuity and is set to be improved.
- 21:09So all that to say, I think you probably see a more even split
- 21:15of run pass. Something that South Carolina
- 21:18always has wanted to do under Shane Beamer is control the line
- 21:22of scrimmage. So they're going to be stubborn
- 21:24with the run regardless. And with Lenoris, like yes,
- 21:28they're trying to get him to be a more complete passer, but
- 21:31you're not going to get away from his strength and his X
- 21:34Factor, which is his legs, right?
- 21:36So I guess to answer your question, like I'm not too
- 21:40worried about them forcing the issue with having Lenoris air it
- 21:43out a lot because of the depth in the running backroom.
- 21:46If they have to turn to that, they will.
- 21:48Got it. And, and, and you mentioned
- 21:51about the, the receivers and stuff because you know, your
- 21:55leading guy last year was a tight end, Josh Simmons.
- 21:58I mean, 40 receptions, just over 500 yards.
- 22:02And you know, looking through it, I'm gonna throw some names
- 22:06out here. You tell me who you're most
- 22:08excited about. So you've got second receipt.
- 22:12Lead receiver last year was Mazzio Bennett, Junior.
- 22:16And then some of the other guys you've got Ventrilus,
- 22:20Ventrilvius, Jacob or Have Mercy, somebody.
- 22:23We're very familiar with Nick Harbor because he's up from the
- 22:26DC area, so the DMV. But out of all those, Jared
- 22:31Brown is the only guy that you guys are potentially in your two
- 22:373D because we got to consider the slot now part of it.
- 22:40So we used to talk about two D4D wide receiver.
- 22:43Wide receiver is 6 or 7 deep. Now you got Jared Brown who
- 22:46transferred from Coastal has the most career yards out of all
- 22:49those guys. He he's the only guy that has
- 22:511000 yards career that you're bringing back.
- 22:54So they played some last year, but it's not like they exploded.
- 22:58Who are you excited about? I mean, it has to be Nick
- 23:01Harbor. It has to be he was getting
- 23:03better and better as the game went on.
- 23:05Now the thing with Harbor is, or as the season went on, excuse
- 23:09me, but the thing with Harbor was he was A2 sport athlete.
- 23:13He was splitting his time between track and football, and
- 23:17when he was in high school he wasn't really a wide receiver
- 23:19full time, right? Like I could be mistaken here,
- 23:22but I think he played some defense, maybe even tight end as
- 23:24well. So he's still pretty raw as a
- 23:27wide receiver. This offseason he made the
- 23:30decision to not pursue track anymore.
- 23:33So he has a full spring under his belt.
- 23:36The reports out of campers that he looks great.
- 23:39You have to be the most excited about him just because of his
- 23:42physical abilities. Now, I really like Mazie O
- 23:45Bennett. He was a big recruiting win that
- 23:47the Carolina Gamecocks got, was pretty consistent for them as a
- 23:52true freshman. And if he can take up his game
- 23:54to the next level, I think that's someone who could be a
- 23:56difference maker for you as well.
- 23:58But those those four guys that you listed off like, yes, that's
- 24:01the core that we're hoping to collectively take a next step
- 24:06because behind them it is a bunch of freshmen, albeit, you
- 24:10know, talented, but still freshmen.
- 24:12So I like, I like Harbor and Bennett to take big steps
- 24:16forward this year. And in order for them to have
- 24:19big years, you are going to rely on that offensive line.
- 24:22And you're looking, looking at the offensive line, it looks
- 24:25like 11 starter returning from last year, Josiah Thompson.
- 24:29You had a tree bobble lady returning that played some in
- 24:342023 but then redshirted last year.
- 24:36In 2024. You had a couple other guys mix
- 24:39in from the from the transfer portal.
- 24:43What what is the biggest concern for this offensive line given
- 24:47that there's not a ton of returning talent from last
- 24:49year's team? So I'm going to Fact Check you a
- 24:51little bit on that case. And Henry was the starting right
- 24:54tackle. He is also returning as well.
- 24:57And you also have a guy Trovon Bo, who played a lot his
- 25:01freshman year, maybe quite you know was in and out of the
- 25:05rotation, but he played a lot as well.
- 25:07Then you're bringing in Boaz Stanley from thinking
- 25:12transferred in from Troy. Yes, thank you.
- 25:15Yes, so there's a this is the most size and athleticism that
- 25:21Shane Beamer has had on that offensive line in his tenure.
- 25:26And the offensive line has been an issue for South Carolina.
- 25:30I mean, I you could probably go to the majority of college
- 25:34football fan bases and they'll say this has been an issue, but
- 25:37it kind of feels like put up or shut up time for this line.
- 25:40So looking at guys like Josiah Thompson, Tro Tree Case and
- 25:46Henry Staley, then you got Nick Sharp.
- 25:49There's a couple of guys here who could be plugged and played
- 25:54in. They cross train and it's a,
- 25:58it's a pause because it's been a not exactly a strength for South
- 26:03Carolina. But this year the hope is that
- 26:06they're they're a little bit more experienced collectively
- 26:09and they can go and at least get out of the gate a little bit
- 26:12faster than they did. Hope that answers the question.
- 26:16Good. Where's the battle?
- 26:18Because we've named 6 or 7. But where's the battle?
- 26:21Where's where you mentioned Tree?
- 26:24Because I think Tree played right tackle along with Haston
- 26:27some last year. Is that the battle right now?
- 26:30Is that the one that if as hokey fans start seeing it, that you
- 26:35might see both of those guys play off and on?
- 26:38From everything I've seen, yes, it's those two guys and I I
- 26:42think Kayson might have the inside track for it.
- 26:45Tree is he's a he's an interesting case.
- 26:47He's really good. Like he played his freshman year
- 26:51and I thought he would have been a shoe in to play last year, his
- 26:55sophomore year, but he can play tackle, he can play guard.
- 26:59So that's a guy that you can look out for as just he can go
- 27:02anywhere and he's a massive human being.
- 27:05On one of the interior guard positions, you have a freshman
- 27:10who's trying to battle his way there, Shed Sarat and he's
- 27:14battling. I believe it's with Nick Sharp,
- 27:16who is a transfer guard as well. So there's a couple, but I think
- 27:21for the most part you're looking at Kason Trovon, Josiah Staley
- 27:25and Sharp. But it's going to be interesting
- 27:29to see what's that depth chart is officially released, which
- 27:31I'm hoping we get in a day or two.
- 27:33Y'all aren't getting one by the way they said it today.
- 27:37Yep. I can't remember who it was now
- 27:40it was I'm assuming y'all did media day-to-day down there and
- 27:44someone said with the media notes no depth chart was.
- 27:48So he is that scared of Virginia Tech coming off the 6th?
- 27:51And so, no, so that's the, that's the media notes.
- 27:55Shane Beamer had pushed everything back a day this week
- 27:58because the game's on Sunday. So normally he does the normally
- 28:02he does the he does the press conference on a Tuesday, which
- 28:06would have been today. And I think he's doing it
- 28:08tomorrow. So I'm thinking tomorrow or
- 28:10Thursday we'll have a depth chart.
- 28:11But I predict there's going to be a lot of ores on it.
- 28:14He doesn't. He doesn't keep it like too too,
- 28:17you know, strict. Yeah, yeah, ours came out with a
- 28:21bunch of ores as well, so we're going to shake that out a little
- 28:24bit later in this episode. We're going to talk about.
- 28:26Our depth card I'm. Sure, a little later, a lot of
- 28:30ores I've heard it's. I've heard it's thin.
- 28:32That's all I've heard Thin. Necessarily thin.
- 28:36Just a lot of ore, all right. Less.
- 28:39Certainty positions we thought were maybe more certain than
- 28:42they are. We'll see.
- 28:44It's all gamesmanship. Like especially Week 1, it's
- 28:47it's all just gamesmanship. Well, hold on, y'all got to go
- 28:50look this up because if you're a college football fan, go look at
- 28:53what New Mexico Lobos. Have y'all seen that yet?
- 28:56I just saw that, yeah. Did you see that?
- 28:57Shelton? Go look it up if you get a
- 29:00chance to him tonight. Yeah, It's it's hilarious what
- 29:03they did. Is it they're it's I don't want
- 29:07to spoil it for you. You're going to laugh.
- 29:09You're going to laugh your ass off.
- 29:11Let's get over we we, we we talked about the offense hit all
- 29:15the burning point. Shelton Moss kick us off on
- 29:17defense, man. Yeah.
- 29:20So first of on defense, let's talk Dylan's talk talk.
- 29:24Dylan Stewart obviously had a great year last year, 51 keeping
- 29:28pressures total, which is 4th best NSC and we'll talk about
- 29:31him later on the podcast as well.
- 29:33So my question to you is, you know, on a scale of 1 to Nedama
- 29:38can sue, how concerned should Hokies fans be about this case?
- 29:41He looks at me like he's got elite physical tools, maybe a
- 29:44little bit undersized, but obviously you can't deny the
- 29:46results there. How, how dangerous is he and how
- 29:49do you think he will, you know, maintain his effectiveness
- 29:53without a guy like Kyle Kennard on his opposite side?
- 29:57I mean, you, you guys worry about the Sandman every game.
- 30:01This Dylan super might as well be the Sandman for you guys.
- 30:04I would I would be I would put him on the scale of 1 to
- 30:06Jadavian Clowney. That's where I got him this
- 30:09year. He is everything you want to be
- 30:12in your all American all SEC potential D end.
- 30:17You know, you say maybe a little undersized, maybe he looked a
- 30:20little skinny, but he's now another year or you know, really
- 30:24two off seasons now, but a now another year bigger, faster and
- 30:27stronger. He's going to get a lot of
- 30:29attention like naturally. And yes, we can talk about the
- 30:33loss of Kyle Kennard, who Nagurski award winner like that
- 30:37helps anyone who's opposite to him, but Dylan Stewart has that
- 30:40game breaking ability. Speaking of Clowny, he was
- 30:44mentored by him a little bit in this offseason.
- 30:47Just what to expect going from year one to year 2.
- 30:50He has his sights on all of those accolades that Clowny had,
- 30:54and while I do expect him to get some extra attention from
- 30:58offensive lines, I think he is good enough to take over and
- 31:02have his moments. But at that same time, does it
- 31:05open up things on the other side of him where a guy like Brian
- 31:09Thomas or JT Gear who can go in there opposite of him and create
- 31:14some plays? So I'm so excited for Dylan
- 31:17Stewart. Like as much excitement as we
- 31:19have for Lenora Sellers in the offense, like I'm just as
- 31:23excited to watch Dylan Stewart this year.
- 31:24And it's a lot to put on one guy, but he has all the ability
- 31:28in the world. Yeah, absolutely.
- 31:31And I love what you said about the Canard thing because that's
- 31:34always my big question. When you guys have when they're
- 31:38younger and they have good seasons and you look at the
- 31:40opposite side and it's Canard drafted high.
- 31:44He was an elite edge guy last year.
- 31:46How does that take away now when he goes in and now it's like,
- 31:50listen, you're not getting one-on-one against the lesser of
- 31:53the tackles. You're going to get chipped.
- 31:56You're going to get a Brian Siegel here was a guard in
- 31:58college. That guard is going to throw
- 32:00this fucking elbow right into your ribs, get you set to get
- 32:03him back into set to stop you. Are you ready for that Now?
- 32:07I'm going to go here and Sheldon wanted to jump in with Dylan
- 32:10Stewart, which we completely understand he is.
- 32:13He's the face right now for y'all's defense.
- 32:15But let's talk about the DC, let's talk about Clayton White.
- 32:19Y'all run a 425 y'all, y'all run that.
- 32:22And he's been to South Carolina for I think since Shane got
- 32:26there, right since Shane got there.
- 32:30What's the just the feel on him as a coordinator is, again, we
- 32:34don't watch a lot of games, North Carolina games, but is he
- 32:38heavy blitz? Is it zone?
- 32:39Is it a mix? What do you see from him Sunday?
- 32:43Potentially setting up against the Hokies?
- 32:48Yeah, it's, it's a great question.
- 32:49It is funny to see if it almost feels rare nowadays.
- 32:53I mean, I, I, you guys can probably understand like just in
- 32:56general college football like to have a coordinator stay for five
- 33:00years now, it feels rare and it feels like guys either get fired
- 33:03or they take the first head coaching job that gets offered
- 33:06to them. And Clayton White has had a
- 33:08couple of, you know, bites. It seems like a potential head
- 33:11coaching gigs at smaller schools, but has decided to stay
- 33:14in South Carolina. Had one rough year, but came out
- 33:17through the other side of it. But yeah, you said 425.
- 33:20He's he's going to play a lot of man.
- 33:21He lets his guys man up, go on islands and he's going to let
- 33:24that front four that, you know, front six with the 425 go to
- 33:28work. So in an ideal state, he's
- 33:31rushing 4, maybe 5. Not a ton of exotic blitzes and
- 33:36things like that from him. But that's why the defense last
- 33:39year felt so successful because you had such a strong defensive
- 33:43line that they could go to work and disrupt the passing, you
- 33:47know, just on themselves. This year the experience is
- 33:51mainly in the back end of the defense where you have a really
- 33:54strong, you know, core group of defensive backs.
- 33:58So I'm expecting him to do more of the same man coverage, let
- 34:02those guys do their jobs on Highlands.
- 34:04And it's funny, I think it could be a deal where without a guy
- 34:09like a Kyle Canard or ATJ Sanders in the defensive tackle
- 34:14position, at least in this first game, it could be a lot of like
- 34:18coverage sacks that you're trying to get where the D backs
- 34:21are, you know, playing, playing well, doing their job.
- 34:23And you're gaining that extra second or two for a guy like
- 34:26Dylan Stewart to get off that double team and then get home.
- 34:29But all told, yeah, that's that's that's Clayton White.
- 34:32They're pretty good at making halftime adjustments.
- 34:35All told. I am a fan.
- 34:37What's that like halftime adjustments?
- 34:39Dude, it's weird sometimes. Sometimes we'll say he waits a
- 34:43little too long though, you know, like that's that sometimes
- 34:45could be the knock on him. But it is going to be
- 34:48interesting to see there. There's no denying that there's
- 34:51talent that needs to be replaced in that front group of guys,
- 34:55linebackers especially, defensive tackles especially,
- 34:59and it's going to be interesting to see how this coaching staff
- 35:02works with that. I like the talent there.
- 35:04It's just a matter of can they produce on the field, you know?
- 35:08Yeah. And before we pivot back to that
- 35:10more experience back and let's let's pivot back over to the
- 35:14defensive line a little bit. Kind of look on the interior, we
- 35:17we, we kind of circled Nick Barrett as a name to watch on
- 35:20the inside of that defensive line.
- 35:22But if there are there some other guys that we should be
- 35:24looking out for and what do they bring to the table from a skill
- 35:27set perspective? Yeah, great, great name.
- 35:29Drop Nick Barrett, a guy that we're all really excited for.
- 35:32He is experienced. He's going to he's set to fill
- 35:36the shoes of that leader in the defensive tackle group.
- 35:39Two more names for you all to watch here.
- 35:40Monkell Goodwine has been with the program for a couple of
- 35:44years now transferred in from I believe Alabama two years ago.
- 35:47But a guy who has played some, you know, little bit by little
- 35:51bit and really that story of development and now it's his
- 35:54time to start and he's going to start opposite of Nick Barrett.
- 35:58I I expect, and that's the name I would keep out for another 1
- 36:02is Gabriel or Gabe Brownlow Dindy, a former five star
- 36:06recruit who transferred in this past year from Texas A&M.
- 36:09Never quite lived up to that five star potential, but that's
- 36:13a guy who's experienced. I like to spin it for these
- 36:16transfers. It's like, well, at least they
- 36:17got SEC caliber coaching, right? Like this isn't new to them.
- 36:21So like he's a guy that if he can put it together, he has the
- 36:25size and the physicality that you look for.
- 36:27There's a couple other guys, you know, who you're hoping can
- 36:30develop and, you know, show up on the field, a guy like Pikes
- 36:34who transferred in. But I'd say good wine, Barrett,
- 36:37Brownlow, Dindy, those are your big three there in the defensive
- 36:40tackle spot. Yeah, moving up from the, I
- 36:44guess the defensive line going to the next level talking.
- 36:47I know you talked a little bit about kind of linebackers and
- 36:51hoping those guys take a next step, talking about, you know,
- 36:53the next guy who is, you know, taking over for a beast that you
- 36:57guys had in night of, yeah, Fred Johnson, which most, you know,
- 37:03Virginia people know. Thieves, Thieves Virginia.
- 37:09Has been very good to the Gamecocks lately.
- 37:11Yeah, yeah, we it's been lovely. We've been.
- 37:14We've been good to Y'all. We've been good to Penn State.
- 37:17We've been good to Rutgers even. I mean, we've been good to
- 37:20everybody, man. Sorry, Tally.
- 37:22Sorry, Tally get hit a nerve. What are you talking about,
- 37:24Fred? All good.
- 37:26Yeah, just just talking about Fred and kind of, you know, I
- 37:30know a sophomore this year, great, great player from high
- 37:35school that again, a lot of Virginia fans know, Virginia
- 37:39Tech fans know. So kind of speak on him and what
- 37:42you know of him and will he be starting for you guys.
- 37:45Yeah, I do expect him to start. I'm excited for him.
- 37:48You know, he played meaningful snaps last year as a freshman
- 37:51and was a guy who you would just hear about every now and again
- 37:55in these press conferences as a guy that's impressing the
- 37:57coaches as a young player. You know, he did a lot on
- 38:00special teams as well. But I expect him to take that
- 38:03next level and be that leader on the defense.
- 38:06You know, I he, it's funny, you mentioned Demetrius Knight.
- 38:10There was also Debo Williams, though.
- 38:12He was, you know, in their shadow a little bit.
- 38:14So the plays he made, these other guys were right around
- 38:17with them. And you're kind of, you got your
- 38:18eye kind of on them a little bit.
- 38:20But alongside him, there's a few other guys that, again, you're
- 38:23hoping can take that next step. A guy like Sean Murphy, who just
- 38:27transferred in, and then Jaron Willis.
- 38:30Yeah, we know. That name too.
- 38:31We know that name too. Is he another Virginia guy?
- 38:35I know he transferred from like Bama Florida State but.
- 38:39Virginia guy that committed to Virginia Tech for about four
- 38:43months so. Wow.
- 38:45Alright, well, hey, you guys. You guys have a good eye for
- 38:49talent at least, yeah. You know what?
- 38:52There's that. It seems like if they don't come
- 38:54back around to us, they're they're heading down there to
- 38:56Columbia, so. Yeah, it's, it's very
- 38:59interesting. I mean, like side note, like,
- 39:00you know, part of the argument is like for the Mid-Atlantic,
- 39:03like the, you know, the DMV guys, like South Carolina is the
- 39:06closest SEC school. But it's going to be interesting
- 39:09to see with college worth of conference expansion if how long
- 39:13that holds true, whether it is a Virginia Tech or an NC State,
- 39:17potential SEC expansion. It's very interesting.
- 39:19I actually, for what it's worth, I actually think Virginia Tech
- 39:21would be a pretty cool addition to the SEC, but that's, you
- 39:24know, a different conversation. We we hope so too.
- 39:28It should've it actually technically.
- 39:30We've had that conversation a bunch of different ways and
- 39:34obviously at this point, anything that's not SEC or Big
- 39:3710 is really kind of going to get left out in the cold one in
- 39:39the long run. So it's interesting.
- 39:40One of those two, I mean, and but with I will say with the the
- 39:44new SEC mandate, if you will, that these schools have to play
- 39:48a Power 4 opponent once a year outside of the SEC moving
- 39:52forward. It's going to be interesting to
- 39:53see how that works. So get ready to learn, SEC
- 39:57Buddies. Oh, we've been OSDC for a long
- 40:00time. Well, a couple things.
- 40:01First of all, we've already got Alabama and on this on schedule
- 40:03and South Carolina future dates too.
- 40:05So that's already been playing. But college football and future
- 40:09dates don't matter. Worth a shit.
- 40:11Let me ask real quick on the linebacker room because you
- 40:14mentioned, you know, night, like Tally mentioned he was a stud.
- 40:18He was an absolute beast last year.
- 40:20You mentioned Debo Williams, but y'all also lost Dan Martin
- 40:24Scott. Dan Martin Scott, you just made
- 40:26the Panthers roster. So so y'all are replacing a trio
- 40:31of starting linebackers? Yeah, yeah.
- 40:34Just just making sure that when I was researching, I was like, I
- 40:38know Knight. I mocked Knight to the 49ers
- 40:41like 14 times during the pre drafts, all that fun stuff.
- 40:45But Brian, he's mentioned the back end.
- 40:48Where are we going next? Yeah.
- 40:51I mean, you know, back in, you know, you talked about that
- 40:54being a little bit more experienced, but you did have,
- 40:56you know, one big departure there with what Nick Emma Moore
- 41:02looks like maybe. Yeah.
- 41:04Yeah, looks like Peyton Williams is going to be, you know,
- 41:07sliding into that spot. What can you tell me about
- 41:11Peyton Williams? What does he bring to the table
- 41:13at that position? Yeah, it's funny.
- 41:16Peyton Williams is a guy that's really waited his turn and kind
- 41:19of that old school guy who's developed and waited his turn
- 41:23and has done well with any opportunity that he's gotten.
- 41:27When Nick opted out, if for lack of a better term, of the
- 41:32second-half of our bowl game, he slid in and performed really
- 41:36well. Whenever Nick was, you know, had
- 41:39to be rotated out for whatever reason the last year or two, he
- 41:43was the guy that went in there and performed very well.
- 41:46It's it's a huge hole to fill. I mean, there's there's no way
- 41:49to dodge that, right? Like, Nick did everything
- 41:53borderline first rounder, but Peyton Williams is a guy that
- 41:56understands this defense and he's going to understand his
- 41:59role. And when he's been asked to step
- 42:02onto the field, he's tended to perform well.
- 42:05But really what it is is you're asking Nicky Manori's, you know,
- 42:09counterpart DQ Smith, a guy that's played alongside of him
- 42:13since they were both true freshmen, to now really be that
- 42:16leader in the in the safety position where, you know, there
- 42:19were a couple times in the past he's been caught out of
- 42:21position. And Nick really never really
- 42:24was. So you're kind of asking him now
- 42:26to OK, like you're a senior now it's time to take that next
- 42:28step. But answer the question.
- 42:30I have full faith in Peyton Williams for sure.
- 42:32And also, you know, there's a guy, David Busey in the mix for
- 42:35that, for that position battle as well.
- 42:36Don't be surprised if you're his name called Sunday as well.
- 42:41Very nice and you're fluffing information.
- 42:44I love it. I love it.
- 42:45So I'm going to talk about. This is this is hilarious.
- 42:48Like I thought, I thought we were going to be talking like
- 42:49game lines and Lenoris and how we're we're talking David Busey.
- 42:53Like you guys are awesome. You guys are like, well, first
- 42:58of all, we need to let you know something about.
- 42:59I'm gonna let you know something about my three partners.
- 43:02Shelton is an Sid. Shelton knows his stats.
- 43:05He knows his data. He's going to fire away.
- 43:08Tally played tight end at Jacksonville State back in the
- 43:11day. Football gamer Brian played
- 43:14offensive line at Ham and Sydney at D3 school.
- 43:17But these we and I just love football.
- 43:20So although I have to say this, in the last few years of having
- 43:23Shelton here, he has turned me on some some wonderful stat
- 43:27sites and got me into that deeper and deeper.
- 43:30So we bring the heat because we want to know the players.
- 43:33We want to know what to expect. Game line right now, seven and a
- 43:37half, eight points. That's probably it might go down
- 43:40a hair. It might go up yeah, but I want
- 43:43to hit before I wrap up with you, I want to hit one last
- 43:46player because this is the guy that I I'm I'm going to say it
- 43:51later when we do a few things about the Hokies.
- 43:54This is the guy that scares the Jesus out of me for your team.
- 43:57OK. And it is Jalen Kilgore because
- 44:01once. I.
- 44:02Look at Jalen Kilgore and you know, but he was a stud coming
- 44:07out of high school. He was a top 247 player.
- 44:11That's. Without last year he picked the
- 44:14ball off 5 times but only 40 tackles.
- 44:17But then I did more research and it was the year before he had 80
- 44:21tackles. So the guy can clearly tackle.
- 44:25So give me some background here because usually you don't see
- 44:28that big of a gap. Usually if a guy has 80 tackles,
- 44:32they're in the 60 to 70 range. Was there a change in what he
- 44:35did last year or was it just a change in what happened?
- 44:41Because he went from being a tackling machine, which is
- 44:44great, to be in a damn ball hawk, which usually you put them
- 44:47together, you're going to go in the first 3 rounds of the NFL
- 44:49draft. Yeah, I mean, he's a beast.
- 44:51You know, he he's he's been a beast pretty much since he
- 44:54stepped on campus. He's a guy that's been asked to
- 44:57do a lot of different things. So that might account for some
- 44:59of that. Just where they had him playing.
- 45:02We're going to go deep in the in the in the in the bag here.
- 45:05So last year, so two years ago when he had all more of the
- 45:11tackles, Clayton White had to make a little bit of a change in
- 45:16the defensive scheme to go to a 335 because the the the defense
- 45:20was just really thin, banged up, couldn't generate enough
- 45:24pressure. So you had more guys sitting
- 45:26back. So you're going to have more
- 45:27tackles that maybe it was like the running back getting to the
- 45:30second level and things of that nature.
- 45:32And the Gamecocks were giving up a lot more quick passes two
- 45:35years ago. Last year, you're able to get
- 45:38more pressures on the quarterbacks.
- 45:40And I think you had that front 7, if you will, doing a lot more
- 45:44damage. And then you would have normally
- 45:47had or doing a lot more damage, period, right?
- 45:50So then you look at a guy like Kilgore was able to just be in
- 45:52coverage and do his thing and stay on his man.
- 45:54So sometimes maybe not as close to the action as he would have
- 45:57been two years ago, but he's a guy that can do it all for sure.
- 46:01Let me ask this to like showing his ball hawk skills.
- 46:05Were there times last year where people just kind of went away
- 46:08from him? He didn't get targeted at all in
- 46:12in the defense? Or was it more of that kind of
- 46:13shift in philosophy? I mean, I, I don't think guys, I
- 46:19don't think teams went away from him.
- 46:21You know, there's a guy who got drafted, O'Donnell Fortune from
- 46:26South Carolina, who that was a team that was a guy that guy's
- 46:30tried to stay away from. Wherever Nick was shaded guy
- 46:33stayed away from. But I think with Kilgore, he
- 46:36just has those natural instincts and he knows where to be, you
- 46:39know, right place, right time. And just in general, that back
- 46:43half of the defense is really well coached by Tory and Gray
- 46:47and they understand their jobs. And there tends to be more than
- 46:49one guy around the ball. So if it gets batted in the air,
- 46:52someone's going to be there. And I think he benefited from
- 46:54that. Got it.
- 46:57Well, before we we let you off for the night we got to get to,
- 47:00we want to hear your prediction of what you think this this
- 47:04final score is going to be in this game.
- 47:06Oh, final score. Wow.
- 47:08Well, weak ones are crazy, aren't they?
- 47:11Like they are, you just don't know what to expect.
- 47:15I think like a lot of South Carolina fans were like very
- 47:19aware that like this is a powerful matchup.
- 47:21And I think when I personally look at tech, like you guys got
- 47:27screwed against Miami and there was one or two other games that
- 47:30like you very well could have been on the other side of.
- 47:33So maybe you underperformed a little bit, but it's a team that
- 47:36could have had seven or eight wins.
- 47:38So. And, you know, on top of that,
- 47:40the two new coordinators like that scares me because you just
- 47:44don't know what the heck you're going to get.
- 47:46Like, what kind of film is there to study really, especially your
- 47:49defensive coordinator, Like, what's this guy's deal?
- 47:51Like he was just a linebacker's coach.
- 47:54Like like he really just like hired A linebackers.
- 47:57Like he never was ADC, right? Like I, I.
- 47:59No, he was. He was a.
- 48:00DC at Wofford LO Mighty Wofford, of course, yeah.
- 48:04But like. Nonetheless, no we disrespect
- 48:07to. Wofford so, but if you look at
- 48:08actually his what probably would have happened the COVID year he
- 48:12had taken Wofford, they won the Southern championship basically
- 48:16we're top 15 in defense in FCS three straight years.
- 48:19And the crazier part, when we were looking at that tape,
- 48:22y'all, it was with a three man front.
- 48:24It was with the four man front. It was what one of them was like
- 48:27a like a three, three stack. So it wasn't the same defense
- 48:32those three years when everything broke with COVID.
- 48:36I think where he was probably in his career, I think he was
- 48:39probably about to make the step up, but COVID completely screwed
- 48:43up FCS season. He got a call from the Minnesota
- 48:46Vikings. Do you want to be an assistant
- 48:48linebacker's coach in the league?
- 48:51He's from he's from Wisconsin area.
- 48:54He if you want to know a little bit more background about him,
- 48:57he GA for Dave Aranda, you know Baylor's head coach, LSU
- 49:02defensive coordinator when they were he was an absolute stud
- 49:05there. And then when you go to
- 49:08Minnesota, he was with Mike Zimmer for a couple years.
- 49:12There is a story that they were going to basically him
- 49:15linebacker month, linebacker coach, money to be an assistant,
- 49:18linebacker coach. He didn't want to do that.
- 49:20He went to he went to Arizona to be the linebackers coach.
- 49:24So that is his background. So good to know.
- 49:27Good to know. So, yeah, I mean, that like kind
- 49:30of scares me. Like that's just there's just
- 49:32not a lot, a lot of tape for South Carolina to go after.
- 49:35So I think this game is going to be kind of a slog in that first
- 49:39half. Definitely that first quarter.
- 49:40I think it's going to be tight. I don't think any, I think it's
- 49:44going to take a while for these teams to to feel each other out.
- 49:48I do think South Carolina finds its groove.
- 49:51I do think depth wins out. I think some of the continuity
- 49:54on defense or excuse me, on offense for South Carolina wins
- 49:58out. But I do have it right around in
- 50:00that spread 38 to 30 Carolina. But I think it's going to be a
- 50:05good one. And I mean, I hope it's greater
- 50:08for South Carolina, but that's that's what I had it as a while
- 50:12ago. So yeah, it should be a good
- 50:14one. That's awesome, Tim.
- 50:17Well, we, we really appreciate you joining us tonight.
- 50:20It's been a blast. I'll let you guys if you guys
- 50:22want to say anything before we we let Tim kick out of here.
- 50:26Cox on Cox baby. Y'all know the name?
- 50:31I appreciate you guys. Thank you, Tim.
- 50:33Fine. It's been.
- 50:34Yeah, thanks. For bringing the heat, bringing
- 50:35the info, man, Yeah. Appreciate you too.
- 50:38Y'all be good. Yeah, so take care.
- 50:41All righty, so that was Tim Cox from Cox talking game, Cox
- 50:46podcast. Kimber up the heat, man, I know
- 50:49a little bit more about them. I know and that now I know what
- 50:53to be. Go ahead Tal, you about to say
- 50:54something? I was just going to say I pray
- 50:56that I can be as excited as Tim is about my team in the coming
- 51:00years. That man is excited.
- 51:03That's how, that's how that's how I want to feel going into
- 51:07the college football season. I don't feel that way right now,
- 51:10guys. We had a taste of that last
- 51:13year. Then it got.
- 51:13Taste of that last. Year right out of our.
- 51:16Hands I don't want I don't want to think about it.
- 51:18I don't want to think about last year.
- 51:21Well, we. We also are a lot, well,
- 51:23Shelton's not as old, but Shelton's been a college fan for
- 51:26a long time, like. We got we got to play the game,
- 51:28man. We got to play the game.
- 51:29We have to play the game. Yeah, that's how we should have
- 51:33felt. Put that up there.
- 51:35I think this and what I like when he made that point of those
- 51:38close games, you want to fly into those close games.
- 51:41If you win a few of those close games, a few people don't
- 51:43probably get fired. Right.
- 51:47And so. Maybe a few people that should
- 51:49have got fired wouldn't have got fired.
- 51:52OK. So either way, appreciate them
- 51:55bringing the heat. You got a lot more names and
- 51:58stuff. Again, the one big thing that
- 52:00like for them did I think, I think it's in the back of Tim's
- 52:07head somewhere. He's just not trying to hide it
- 52:09is that is a lot of talent lost on defense that played, that
- 52:15played majority of the snaps. And it's not, it's not saying
- 52:19there's 6th and 7th rounders, TJ Sanders 4th rounders, Immunori
- 52:24second rounder, damn near 1st rounder, 9th, 3rd rounder,
- 52:29Kinnar third rounder and those guys.
- 52:32And we've seen an attack, right? We've seen a bunch of guys get
- 52:35drafted all the the next guy's going to be OK and they ain't as
- 52:38they're not bad, they're just not as good.
- 52:40And we just know how that feels. Let's talk about, I mean, you,
- 52:44you, you look at a 2017 to 2018 transition and yeah, yeah,
- 52:49that's, that's basically what happened on that defense.
- 52:52Now they're covered was a whole lot more full behind those guys
- 52:55than what we had. But from a talent standpoint, it
- 52:58was a very similar degree of loss.
- 53:01There you go. That's a good way to put it.
- 53:02All right, so we got a lot more to unload.
- 53:05We 50 minutes in. And again, I wouldn't take that
- 53:08away from nothing because I think Tim gave us an educational
- 53:10South Carolina. It's going to help me know
- 53:13names, numbers and all that fun stuff.
- 53:14But if y'all were not aware, over the last few weeks we have
- 53:19been running little ads saying you can win a ticket to a
- 53:22concert the night before the game.
- 53:25Well, we earlier today, I shouldn't say we Brian earlier
- 53:29today got all the emails, all the names, put them into a
- 53:33randomizer, click the button and we have a winner and it is Jay
- 53:41Largon is the winner of the concert.
- 53:43Tickets to the AOAR concert this Saturday.
- 53:47Brian actually got to connect with Jay real quick at coach Jay
- 53:50Largon on Twitter. He is going to the game.
- 53:53So the tickets are going to be used.
- 53:57We appreciate all of y'all for just putting your just put it in
- 54:03the tweets out there, following it, clicking on the links.
- 54:07It was a great opportunity for us to get that from the Hokie
- 54:11way. Yeah.
- 54:12And while we're at it, you know there there's still tickets out
- 54:15there for sale. Be sure I I know we got it down
- 54:17there in the bottom, but go to thehokeyway.org/concert and if
- 54:22you use boundary corner one word at at check out there, you'll
- 54:25get 10% off that ticket order. So if you're still looking for
- 54:28tickets, you're heading to Atlanta, you want to go to this
- 54:31concert that's. What you got to do do it All
- 54:34right. Couple real quick hitters.
- 54:35Y'all probably saw this. Divine Diablo is going to be the
- 54:38honorary captain. Love seeing that tally.
- 54:43You had to love the Instagram drop with the jersey reveal the
- 54:48other day. Oh man, I like Waffle House even
- 54:52more than orange. And that's, you know, that's
- 54:55hard to do so. Are you a Waffle House
- 54:57connoisseur, though? Are you?
- 54:59Man, listen, I used to the old I've got.
- 55:02I can't eat everything that I used to eat.
- 55:04Like I get sick, but I still will go to Waffle House and get
- 55:07me a chicken and cheese omelet with a waffle on the side.
- 55:12You know, I'll get my hash Browns, throw a little onions in
- 55:16there. You know what I'm saying?
- 55:18Like Waffle House is just, I don't think I've ever been.
- 55:23Let me tell you about Waffle House and then I'm going to be
- 55:24done. I know we got to go on.
- 55:26You got to see some crackheads at Waffle House.
- 55:29Like you can't go to Waffle House and people be, you know,
- 55:32have a, they can't, they need to live in a trailer.
- 55:36You know, they need to not have all their teeth.
- 55:39I went to Waffle House one time and the dude cooking my food had
- 55:42a Waffle House arm band on. I knew the food was going to be
- 55:45good. I knew it was.
- 55:48He had a shooting sleeve on like Carmelo Anthony and he only had
- 55:53three teeth. And I said, that's the one that
- 55:57I want cooking my food because I know it's going to be greasy.
- 56:02I know it's going to be clogging my heart up a little bit, but I
- 56:04know it's going to be the best food I've had.
- 56:07And I wasn't drunk. I was sober as can be.
- 56:10I heard you either have to have a black belt or be a meth head
- 56:14to work at Waffle House. You got to be, you got to have a
- 56:18little bit of drug use to work in Waffle House.
- 56:21You know, that's just what you got to do.
- 56:24Somebody's got to, it's got to be a fight close.
- 56:27It ain't got to be inside, but it's got to be a fight close
- 56:31outside. Somebody in the back on the
- 56:33phone, We need to see a little bit of crackhead activity for
- 56:39that Waffle House to be buzzing. So if y'all ain't been to Waffle
- 56:43House, if y'all don't know about Waffle House, Waffle House.
- 56:46Hey, man, lose, lose a little bit of money.
- 56:48I know, I know some of these people got money, man.
- 56:50They probably, and I'm an IHOP guy too, but you know, Waffle
- 56:53House, that's what it said. Waffle House, is it all righty?
- 56:56So we're going to get into telling some truths here about
- 57:00the depth chart. But before we do anything about
- 57:03the depth chart, we got to tell the truth with all the news.
- 57:08It's people are it's been up here 3 or 4 times about Caleb
- 57:12Woodson. If you have not been under a
- 57:15rock or if you have been under a rock today, excuse me and you
- 57:18have not seen the news what happened?
- 57:21And you just you just oblivious to everything.
- 57:24Caleb Woodson on Saturday night did get Adu or excuse me, a DWI
- 57:31charge so. You know, everybody's like Ricky
- 57:41Leblu's comments. You didn't see Tally's comments.
- 57:44Tally's comments was better. But just what are y'all,
- 57:49Shelton? I'm going to throw it to you
- 57:51first because a, you, you worked as an Sid.
- 57:53You know, there's those rules. First of all, what is going to
- 57:58happen this weekend? Just your prediction.
- 58:01Tell the truth. What's going to happen this
- 58:03weekend? Yeah, with them.
- 58:05With Caleb Woodson. Yeah, I mean, I don't have any
- 58:08doubt that it'll play. I mean, with these things,
- 58:10normally what you do is you sort of, you know, you, you pass it
- 58:14off to the university, university handles it because if
- 58:16they're you've got their own policies, the athletic
- 58:18department has their policies. So you guys wait and see.
- 58:22And then, you know, they they do the they do the thing in court
- 58:25and whenever they adjudicate that, then they'll, you know,
- 58:28dish out some punishment. So I don't expect much will come
- 58:31of it from a, from a, you know, a, not a disciplinary
- 58:35standpoint, More so like, you know, this is not going to be a,
- 58:39you know, lengthy suspension. Obviously it's not, it's not
- 58:42even a felony. It's a, it's a misdemeanor.
- 58:45So, but they'll probably, you know, handle it internally.
- 58:49He's already been removed of his captaincy and Price said that he
- 58:53has the opportunity to earn it back, which I would imagine
- 58:56would take a while. But I think they're probably
- 58:59just going to be pretty lean about this.
- 59:00If they do a suspension, it'll probably be against Wofford
- 59:04maybe for half, I don't know. But I would not expect any sort
- 59:07of, you know, harsh handed disciplinary measures outside
- 59:12of, you know, internal stuff that they, you know, they they
- 59:16don't let that punishment with within the program.
- 59:19Tom, I'm. I'm going to let y'all go 1st.
- 59:22I'm going to go last. Oh, you're going to go last.
- 59:24I'll go next. I'll give you the brown.
- 59:25We'll, we'll go. We'll go this way.
- 59:28How much help? And I don't think anything
- 59:29happened this weekend. You've got to let it go to
- 59:31court. And also Class 1 misdemeanors.
- 59:34There's with Virginia Tech, there's 4 levels.
- 59:37There can be a suspension, but usually it's a warning, some
- 59:42sort of other disciplinary action.
- 59:44Suspension is the 4th one on the list.
- 59:46It is the highest one on the list for a misdemeanor.
- 59:48And I know ADW is nothing to play around with.
- 59:52That shit can get people killed and to what some of the other
- 59:57people said, but we all have been young and done stupid shit
- 1:00:02at some points in our life. I don't think he's going to be
- 1:00:05suspended if they do anything. Maybe he don't play the first
- 1:00:07series. That might be it this weekend.
- 1:00:10Like we we took your captaincy away.
- 1:00:12You're not going to play the first series.
- 1:00:14You will not be out there and then put Thomas's thing up here
- 1:00:19real quick. Brian.
- 1:00:19I see it in the right corner. And we don't know quite this
- 1:00:23yet. We don't know what it is, does
- 1:00:26it? It does not make a difference.
- 1:00:28But that might go down to like fleeting and stuff.
- 1:00:32But I think he's playing and and people can, you know, try to get
- 1:00:36on a high horse or something. But I think I know what Tally's
- 1:00:40going to say a lot. I'm not going.
- 1:00:41I'm going to leave that silent, Brian.
- 1:00:43No, you say whatever you want to say.
- 1:00:44Oh. No, no, no, no.
- 1:00:46I know what Tally's going to say.
- 1:00:47I know. What he's?
- 1:00:48Going to say, I'm going to work around with what I know Tally's
- 1:00:50going to say. What I'm going to say is this.
- 1:00:52So when you look at a misdemeanor and when you look at
- 1:00:57what we've seen historically happened with these at Virginia
- 1:01:01Tech, but also when we look at A, at a grander scheme of how
- 1:01:03these things kind of play out elsewhere, I don't think there's
- 1:01:07a chance that he doesn't play in this game, whether he ends up
- 1:01:11sitting at a series or a quarter or what we or whatever it may
- 1:01:15be, that that would be the most I could foresee happening.
- 1:01:18I think he plays in this game. I actually think he plays all
- 1:01:21four quarters. And I think at some point this
- 1:01:24season we, you might see some additional disciplinary that
- 1:01:27results from, as Shelton said, the university process playing
- 1:01:31out for this. But I I don't think we're going
- 1:01:34to actually see punitive action taking from a playing time
- 1:01:38standpoint. You got to let the justice
- 1:01:40system do his job first before anything, because we don't we
- 1:01:45beat the stupid. We be the stupid program that
- 1:01:48he's going to sit the whole game and then they drop the charges
- 1:01:51when he goes to court. And it'd be like, why'd you they
- 1:01:55drop the charges? Why'd you wait down it?
- 1:01:58Light it up. No, I mean, that's that's that's
- 1:02:00what it is it it depends, man. Like there are some things that
- 1:02:05a college student can get in, some things anybody can get in
- 1:02:09that would warrant, Hey, I need you to be away from us.
- 1:02:12You know what I'm saying? Some things that rhyme with
- 1:02:15grape, stuff like that, any kind of, you know, harming somebody,
- 1:02:19things like that. Now I'm not taking anything like
- 1:02:22that. Somebody can get in as far as
- 1:02:25legal action or legal, you know, ramifications, things like that.
- 1:02:28But he's been asked 90 million times on here.
- 1:02:33And then and then we got to address it because that's what
- 1:02:35we do. We going to tell the truth on
- 1:02:36here all the time. Whether you like it, whether you
- 1:02:39don't like it, no matter who likes it.
- 1:02:42Somebody posted on, on, on, on X today, Ricky Labeaux, the blue,
- 1:02:47whatever his name is, he goes on there.
- 1:02:49And no disrespect to him, I think he's a good guy.
- 1:02:51I've had some interactions with him, but he goes on there and he
- 1:02:53just goes in talking about if the coach has any spine, he
- 1:02:58should do this. First of all, we don't come to
- 1:03:00your fucking job and tell you what to do because I'm sure you
- 1:03:03do some shit at your job is probably ain't right because I
- 1:03:05know I do. So we don't go to nobody's job
- 1:03:08and tell them what they should and shouldn't do, what it is.
- 1:03:10You ain't got a spine. Balls too big, too little,
- 1:03:13whatever. We ain't doing all that.
- 1:03:15But this is what I can say. There are things that people try
- 1:03:20to use football coaches to be more than football coaches.
- 1:03:25There are some football coaches that are huge in people's lives,
- 1:03:30and I'm not taking that away. This nowadays, more than
- 1:03:34anything, is treated like a pro system.
- 1:03:38There are that there's pro ramifications to what's going on
- 1:03:42with these young men. You got to let the justice
- 1:03:46system do their job. As an American, I've seen it
- 1:03:50plenty of times where police pull somebody over, beats the
- 1:03:53shit out of them, punches them through the window, shoots them,
- 1:03:56whatever the case is. And I'm like, Dang, that looks
- 1:03:58like it was bad. And then the first thing I see
- 1:04:01on social media, somebody says, well, we don't know all of the
- 1:04:05we don't know all of the details.
- 1:04:07Let's figure out what's going on first before we make a decision
- 1:04:10on this. And then on the other end, you
- 1:04:12got these people that just want to, you know, throw some kind of
- 1:04:15bait out and say, oh, this happened because it is.
- 1:04:18We don't know the details. We don't know what the substance
- 1:04:20was. We don't know exactly what
- 1:04:21happened. Neither do I care.
- 1:04:24All I know is number one, that ain't his daddy y'all talking
- 1:04:28about. He should be the the do this.
- 1:04:31And if he's trying to raise me and he ain't fucking raising
- 1:04:34nobody, he's a football coach that ain't winning no games.
- 1:04:38He has lost more games than he's won.
- 1:04:42He better put the best players on the field and try to figure
- 1:04:44out how to win. Taking the C away.
- 1:04:47Great. Good job, Coach Pryor.
- 1:04:48I don't blame you for that, but this is what I'll say.
- 1:04:51You better put the best players on the field to try to beat
- 1:04:53South Carolina because Shane Beamer going to be on your ass
- 1:04:57and the rest of the fan base going to be on your ass.
- 1:04:58So if you sit him because of that, you might as well sit
- 1:05:02yourself because you're going to put yourself in a position to
- 1:05:04lose. Back to what we talking about
- 1:05:06with Caleb. Now back to that situation, fans
- 1:05:11got to calm down. This happens all over.
- 1:05:13Not saying that it's right, but I've heard from some really,
- 1:05:16really good sources that there's some investigations being
- 1:05:19launched about how that stop went down.
- 1:05:22So they're targeting those kids. They're going to do that because
- 1:05:27you got kids in Blacksburg driving $90,000 cars, $60,000
- 1:05:32cars. There's some police.
- 1:05:35I heard he wasn't even from there.
- 1:05:36I heard he was from 30 miles away, but whatever.
- 1:05:38Again, I'm a dude in Alabama. I don't know nothing there.
- 1:05:42You got some people. And I'm not saying that it's
- 1:05:43racism. Sometimes it's placism, like if
- 1:05:46I'm a salesperson, which I am, and a new salesperson comes in
- 1:05:51and they are getting paid more than me, I'm going to be a
- 1:05:53little salty. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:05:55So a lot of times these cops look at these kids to come in,
- 1:05:58they know they're getting NIL deals.
- 1:06:00They seeing what they driving these bins is these hellcats and
- 1:06:05things like that, and they got a problem with it.
- 1:06:07So they going to target them, they going to follow them.
- 1:06:09Not making any excuses for anything a kid does.
- 1:06:13You got to be held responsible for what you do.
- 1:06:15That's why we have a legal system.
- 1:06:17Ricky, you ain't the legal system.
- 1:06:19Calm. You're nuts, buddy.
- 1:06:21Sunday is going to be a game on. Watch the game.
- 1:06:24If you want to protest watching the game because somebody's
- 1:06:26playing, protest. Go watch tennis.
- 1:06:29They play tennis sometime, too. I live by a pickleball court.
- 1:06:33It'd be a lot of people out there playing pickleball.
- 1:06:35Go watch them play. I'm just saying, man, that's how
- 1:06:38I feel. I had to get my rent out.
- 1:06:40I feel better. Curtis, reel me back in.
- 1:06:43I know I had to let you go because what you said the, the,
- 1:06:47the statement you made about where football coaches nowadays
- 1:06:50are, they're not. Some are father figures, you're
- 1:06:53right. Some are.
- 1:06:54Some really are. Some want to do things.
- 1:06:56But to your point, it is now a bigger game.
- 1:07:00It's about money. It's about it's like, like like
- 1:07:03you said, college football is no longer collegiate.
- 1:07:06College football and basketball are professional sports teams.
- 1:07:10You don't see the head coach running out in NBA or the NFL,
- 1:07:15right? To your point, he's got people
- 1:07:18out there he's got to lean on and I think he's got to learn a
- 1:07:21lesson from this. And I think the Cabinet sees one
- 1:07:23thing, I think probably going to courts going to be another one,
- 1:07:26so. When we think about it from a
- 1:07:28professional standpoint in the NFL, they don't preemptively.
- 1:07:33Hell no. Unless.
- 1:07:34You got to be convicted. Unless the deed is very crucial
- 1:07:39like Tally. Was I?
- 1:07:40Got a good they don't. Preemptively put somebody.
- 1:07:42On a bench. I got a great question for you,
- 1:07:44Sheldon. I know you might be a little
- 1:07:45young on this, but you do your research, so you probably know.
- 1:07:50I think Bobby had a spine. Bobby had a pretty good spine.
- 1:07:54He didn't make Peter sit down. Did he make Peter sit down?
- 1:07:57Peter was stealing that shit out of the store, wasn't he?
- 1:08:00Or getting it for free. Somebody was giving it to him.
- 1:08:03Did he? Did he make him sit?
- 1:08:05Or did he play in the game? And whoop my ass by yourself?
- 1:08:09I'm just asking. If it weren't for him, things
- 1:08:12have been different. If he had a spine, if we go by
- 1:08:16what was on X and he had a spine and we make him sit, we pay.
- 1:08:22History might be different, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:08:25We might be with this curse, might be gone.
- 1:08:28I'm just saying hey, sometimes, sometimes you got to do what you
- 1:08:32got to do to win. Have y'all watched?
- 1:08:33The mid game run that Mike had, I mean that might that might
- 1:08:36have been enough to seal it without Peter coming back and
- 1:08:39doing his thing. Have y'all ever watched the game
- 1:08:41the movie Blue Chips? Oh yeah.
- 1:08:43Chad, I know y'all. I know y'all.
- 1:08:44Have. Oh, stop.
- 1:08:46Hold on. Sheldon's never seen it.
- 1:08:48Shelton, you go to bed or what are you doing tomorrow?
- 1:08:51You need to take two hours of your time and watch Blue Chips.
- 1:08:54Blue Chips Man 30. Three years ago.
- 1:08:57Great movie. OK.
- 1:09:01Yeah, and I will say I, I, I agree with Ricky in theory.
- 1:09:05I would like to live in a world where athletes dealt with
- 1:09:07consequences just like regular people do.
- 1:09:09But that's not the world we live in.
- 1:09:11And so you're just going to play by play by all the rules that
- 1:09:14everyone else is playing by. So.
- 1:09:16Yeah, at that point if. Everybody else is cheating.
- 1:09:18You might as well cheat too. That's.
- 1:09:19Kind of. But it's got to be if we're
- 1:09:22dealing with rules, let's deal with them how everybody else
- 1:09:25deals with them. The justice system should handle
- 1:09:27it, right? All of the everything has to
- 1:09:30come out. Let's figure out what's going
- 1:09:32on. 1st. Did we plant something in the
- 1:09:34car? Was he on the edible?
- 1:09:36Did he smoke a little weed? Did he drink a beer?
- 1:09:40Guess what, we don't know. So fuck it, let's wait till we
- 1:09:44know before we find out there. You go all right real quick.
- 1:09:47I want y'all to give me one tell you truth on the depth chart
- 1:09:52that whether you feel good about it, bad about it, won't prepared
- 1:09:56for it or or or what we're not going to do what we can do
- 1:10:00better next because we figure out that next week with this
- 1:10:02shit that with the depth chart. I was not prepared for Montavius
- 1:10:05Cunningham at right tackle. I'm going to jump out right out
- 1:10:08the gate and let you know I was not prepared for Montavius
- 1:10:14Cunningham at right tackle. I don't hate it, but I was very
- 1:10:17much not prepared for it. So I will say that one.
- 1:10:21I agreed. Agreed.
- 1:10:23Although that tape we saw from two years ago against LSU, it
- 1:10:29was like that kid can play right tackle.
- 1:10:31That's why I said I don't hate it.
- 1:10:32I, I, and I'll piggyback on that, I hope I'm not taking
- 1:10:35anybody's not seeing Muskrat in any of those two deeps at the AT
- 1:10:40offensive line also swings me in the other direction.
- 1:10:44The musty rat. All right, Sheldon, what about
- 1:10:47you? Feel good, feel bad Shot.
- 1:10:52I don't know. It's hard to tell with how many
- 1:10:54ORS there are in the in the chat.
- 1:10:57I mean, I don't know. I feel like they they
- 1:10:58intentionally tried to be as ambiguous as possible.
- 1:11:02I don't know. I mean defensive, defensive end.
- 1:11:06I mean, I feel like John can we kind of knew he'd be a starter.
- 1:11:09It seemed like Arias Nash wasn't quite as I guess maybe
- 1:11:14productive as it would have, would have you know, liked.
- 1:11:16So he's a little bit a little bit further down.
- 1:11:19Bell and Burgos will be an interesting battle.
- 1:11:21I've been pretty high on Ben Bell from what from just from
- 1:11:22what I heard at camp, but it seems like Burgos is kind of
- 1:11:25challenging him as well. So I think I think that'll be
- 1:11:28interesting. I think there's a lot of there's
- 1:11:30a lot of like, you know, really solid, but no like true elite
- 1:11:33standouts on the on the defensive line.
- 1:11:35So I feel like I'm just interested to see kind of how
- 1:11:37that battle plays out because I think they've got some pretty
- 1:11:39good depth. They're much more than they had
- 1:11:40last year, but no like true bona fide star, like an APR.
- 1:11:43So I'm interested to see that. Anything shocked made you happy
- 1:11:48made you sad made. Man, you know how to, you know
- 1:11:50how to depth charts be. I'll be finding it.
- 1:11:53I'll be finding it humorous. Like Josh said, man, they was
- 1:11:56rowing a boat with all them ORS. They was in the canoe with so
- 1:11:59many ORS in that running back room.
- 1:12:01It was ORS everywhere. I'm like, what is him or him or
- 1:12:07him? They don't know, man.
- 1:12:09They just put the stuff out there.
- 1:12:11Y'all want a depth chart? I feel like the coaches got a
- 1:12:13sense of humor. They like y'all know what?
- 1:12:15Yeah, they they want a depth chart.
- 1:12:16Watch this. Watch this.
- 1:12:18Let's just put it out there so we don't know who.
- 1:12:21Only thing I know about the depth chart is that if he's
- 1:12:24healthy, which I think he is, Kyron Drones is the starting
- 1:12:27quarterback. Everything else is subjective.
- 1:12:30I don't know. I don't know nothing.
- 1:12:32So I'll say this, the, the, the, the right and the Rimac and
- 1:12:36Cunningham switch had because everything we heard and
- 1:12:40remember, we had, we had DC on here six days ago.
- 1:12:42Cunningham, who'd seen that stuff in person was like, every
- 1:12:45time we've seen it, Rimac's been it, right?
- 1:12:48Cunningham's been. Asked the question now, we asked
- 1:12:50the question in a different context.
- 1:12:52We were asking whether they were, you know, the tackles were
- 1:12:54swapped. We didn't realize that the guard
- 1:12:57and the tackle were getting. The guard and the tackle were
- 1:12:58swapped. Curtis, you got some people.
- 1:13:02I was going to say, yeah, you got a lot of people asking and
- 1:13:05talking about Selden. What you think about that?
- 1:13:07Well, the whole thing we got to think about what we're going to
- 1:13:11if if Montgomery has even 65% of the way he used to run tempo,
- 1:13:18everybody that's on that starting wide receiver depth
- 1:13:21chart, they're going to be in there because we're going to be
- 1:13:24running tempo. We're going to be running fast.
- 1:13:26You got him as the slot back up and Takihi, we know Heath is a
- 1:13:31gadget guy a little smaller, sells the exact opposite of him.
- 1:13:34Yeah, sells huge. So I'm with you.
- 1:13:38Like some of it just don't matter.
- 1:13:40Some of it they just mess it with the song.
- 1:13:42Now I'll say this. What did catch my eye and I
- 1:13:45thought to Brian about it was go to defensive end and Bell and
- 1:13:50Burgos and and Yonko. Not shocking, right, right.
- 1:13:54Elijah Fall the transfer portal guy Elijah falls not your
- 1:13:58typical defensive end. Elijah falls 63288.
- 1:14:03That's a that is saying we're there's going to be some three
- 1:14:06man fronts and he's probably going to be running the base in
- 1:14:10or they're going to be something.
- 1:14:11What is it? Brian running like 2 eyes and
- 1:14:14he'll play directly over a tackle as A5 tech and then let
- 1:14:19junk them because they we've been hearing Ben Beller and
- 1:14:22Virgos. There's two guys standing up a
- 1:14:24lot. There's two guys always standing
- 1:14:26up. Sometimes Ian has the fan of the
- 1:14:28dirt. I think I see that.
- 1:14:31But as far as everything else goes, it's like like people are
- 1:14:35saying, it's a good thing to have, gives us something to talk
- 1:14:38about. Yeah.
- 1:14:39And I mean, we still don't know, you know, exactly what, at least
- 1:14:43against South Carolina, what what base front we're going to
- 1:14:46come out in. I think we kind of assume it's
- 1:14:50going to be some variation of a of an even front, but to be
- 1:14:55determined. Well, I'll say this though, what
- 1:14:59I'll go. Ahead, I'm putting this up,
- 1:15:01Randy. The first was a speeding ticket.
- 1:15:03Yeah, you can have a reckless driving speeding ticket.
- 1:15:06That's not a second offense, DWI.
- 1:15:08That's completely different. Completely different.
- 1:15:12So no, Josh said. Josh said he was surprised to
- 1:15:14see Takai, but he knows he's a ball if he's healthy.
- 1:15:18I ain't gonna say I was surprised, but exactly right,
- 1:15:21Josh. Like I wouldn't the game last
- 1:15:25year at Vanderbilt and I kept saying and I was singing it from
- 1:15:29the mountaintops, like why can we not get this kid the ball?
- 1:15:33He was so much quicker and faster than the rest of the wide
- 1:15:36receivers that were on the field.
- 1:15:38I would say probably Jay Lane was the only one that kind of
- 1:15:42had the same twitch as I did see Takei have.
- 1:15:47But again, things happen during the year, people get banged up.
- 1:15:51I think he thought about leaving the team for a little while or
- 1:15:55maybe did leave the team for a little while.
- 1:15:57But whatever the case is, they've said he's had a great
- 1:16:01fall and he's he's a, he's a talented player.
- 1:16:03I just hope that this year he he puts it together and it's very
- 1:16:07frustrating to a player that you know your ability and you know
- 1:16:10what you can do and you're on a team that is not producing, not
- 1:16:15winning. I say that and you can't get on
- 1:16:17the field. So a lot of times these kids or
- 1:16:20these young men get frustrated and you know, they either going
- 1:16:24to pursue other opportunities or they want to know why I'm not on
- 1:16:28that. So I was asking the same thing
- 1:16:31last year, but I'm excited to see Heath get in the in the mix.
- 1:16:36I hope that we get to see what he can do because I really think
- 1:16:41that we haven't seen somebody in a phone booth like him.
- 1:16:46You know what I'm saying? We had a couple of wide
- 1:16:48receivers that were really good wide receivers last year.
- 1:16:50But I think that him getting off the line and I kept seeing him
- 1:16:54put him in motion and I'm like, man, he's fast.
- 1:16:57But we just never got to see that translate to even a play.
- 1:17:02I don't even say a big play to a play.
- 1:17:04So Josh, great, great look when you when you talked about him
- 1:17:08being that slot because I didn't even think about that.
- 1:17:10But I guess that's probably what I was surprised that just that
- 1:17:14he was listed there, but I'm excited that he's listed there.
- 1:17:19Lovett is effectively starter is, as is Caleb Brown.
- 1:17:25You know what? And some of this shit might be
- 1:17:27there to motivate people. Like they may know, like, yeah,
- 1:17:29I'm I'm the one. It's like, you know, you ain't
- 1:17:32nothing yet. We ain't played a game yet.
- 1:17:34All right, one thing before we turn on, we're going to get into
- 1:17:36Hokie Keys next and then make our predictions.
- 1:17:39One thing I was so happy to see because I do not think this is a
- 1:17:42lie. Tucker Holloway punt return that
- 1:17:44man Dangerous. Well, yeah, Tucker's good,
- 1:17:47dangerous. Hate it when he went down last
- 1:17:49year. So to see him back out there,
- 1:17:51man, he's he's to say that he is more special to me now.
- 1:17:56No disrespect to Jay Lane because Jay Lane was a very,
- 1:17:58very good player. Think he's going to have a long
- 1:18:00NFL career. Tucker being at punt return,
- 1:18:04it's special. He's just, he's just a different
- 1:18:07type of punt returner, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:18:09Kind of fearless back there. Just works hard, has the long
- 1:18:13strides when he runs and you go back and watch, what was it,
- 1:18:16Georgia Tech, that he took one back?
- 1:18:18Is that the game somewhere around there anyway?
- 1:18:21Not last year, yeah, before last.
- 1:18:22But anyway, seeing Tucker back in that punt return, in that
- 1:18:26returning position, think it helps us out a little bit.
- 1:18:30You look at punt returning, so like Jay Lane was the guy that's
- 1:18:35going to break that first tackle and then run away from people.
- 1:18:39I feel like Tucker, he's got that kind of vision and kind of
- 1:18:44sees how things are set up and just knows exactly where to go.
- 1:18:48And then that's where his talent is.
- 1:18:49And like you said, Tally, once he gets that, that acceleration
- 1:18:52up, he's got those long strides and it's hard to catch him at
- 1:18:55that point. Percent all right, so let's flip
- 1:18:59off here. Appreciate y'all all the
- 1:19:00comments in there, but we do need to talk about what we feel
- 1:19:04are going to be to the keys of the game from the Hokie side and
- 1:19:11Sheldon just goes Sheldon goes quiet of time.
- 1:19:13So Sheldon, you get to kick us off.
- 1:19:15What is going to be the key for the Hokies to pull the wind?
- 1:19:18Yeah. So I said for me, I said protect
- 1:19:21drones, you know, specifically with regards to trying to limit,
- 1:19:26you know what, what Stewart can do again, we talked about, you
- 1:19:29know, his pass rush numbers, 51 Kiwi pressures last year.
- 1:19:33That was fourth SEC and of the top six SEC pass rush pressure
- 1:19:39guys, five of them are now in the NFL.
- 1:19:43Obviously Stuart being the one exception.
- 1:19:45So this is a bona fide legit NFL talent.
- 1:19:46He's going to be going up against, as you said, Montavas
- 1:19:48Cunningham, who again, we have we didn't see last year.
- 1:19:51So we don't know what he is capable of.
- 1:19:53I'm a little bit more concerned about the left side of the line
- 1:19:55than I am the right side of the line.
- 1:19:56But still, I just I have some concerns about their ability to
- 1:20:00protect Kyron. I feel like if, you know, we
- 1:20:02saw, we saw last year with, you know, Karen, but constantly, you
- 1:20:05know, under pressure, seeing ghosts, you know, potentially
- 1:20:08getting hurt, I just think that's a bad, bad thing.
- 1:20:11You know, my biggest thing is pass protection, keep him
- 1:20:13protected in the pocket so he can make some throws and
- 1:20:15scramble out there and get some get some runs in.
- 1:20:19Cali. Yeah, no, what Sheldon said is,
- 1:20:21is really good. I don't, I don't even think I
- 1:20:23hit on this when they were talking about it earlier, but
- 1:20:28Karen is, is a lot like or whichever one's older him and
- 1:20:33sellers are very much alike. So how excited they are about
- 1:20:37Sellers? I'm as excited about Kyron
- 1:20:41because I've seen his potential. You know, I know what his
- 1:20:43ceiling is. I don't want to say I know what
- 1:20:45ceiling. I know what can be, which is the
- 1:20:47NFL guy. I feel like Sellers can be an
- 1:20:49NFL guy. I don't know where he goes.
- 1:20:52Kyron can be that as well. But it's all about protection.
- 1:20:55It's about sometimes if you do have a lack of talent in certain
- 1:21:01positions, you have to coach that talent that you do have up.
- 1:21:05So it's going to come down to two people coaching, 2 Staffs
- 1:21:10coaching and that's why I say my key to victory is going to be
- 1:21:14management and time management and adjustments.
- 1:21:19I think Tim talked about that a little bit when he talked about
- 1:21:22their DC maybe taking a little too long to adjust.
- 1:21:26Well, we had ADC that didn't adjust at all in the
- 1:21:29second-half, so we made an adjustment and got rid of him.
- 1:21:34Thank the Lord couple of people are gone.
- 1:21:36So I'm hoping that this staff, it does a much better job with
- 1:21:41the time management and their adjustments.
- 1:21:44Because to beat A-Team, even if you're punching a little bit
- 1:21:47above your weight class, you got to do some things strategically.
- 1:21:52It doesn't always have to be talent against talent.
- 1:21:54You know, talent does wins you some games, but coaching wins
- 1:21:58you some games as well. Pry has to prove that he's the
- 1:22:03guy. This is a game that he can prove
- 1:22:05it. He was close against a, you
- 1:22:07know, a couple of people that Miami game.
- 1:22:09If he takes that game, that's a signature win for him.
- 1:22:13If he wins a game like this, it's a signature win for him.
- 1:22:16He needs that for him. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:22:19Because if, if, if pride doesn't make this work.
- 1:22:23And I'm, I know I'm not trying to go too far, but if pride
- 1:22:25doesn't make this work this year, what does he go?
- 1:22:28You know what I'm saying? Like if, if, if he doesn't make
- 1:22:31this work and then he doesn't, you know, put together a good
- 1:22:34like his resume doesn't look good.
- 1:22:36Who hires him? The school of the blind and
- 1:22:40deaf. I mean, where's he, where's he
- 1:22:45where? Seriously?
- 1:22:46Like, where does he go from Virginia Tech if he doesn't make
- 1:22:49this work? Because what we talk about and
- 1:22:51what Virginia Tech fans know of him, the rest of the football
- 1:22:56world knows as well. Look at Justin Fuente.
- 1:22:58Yeah, he got paid, but he still ain't no head coach no more.
- 1:23:00And I mean, once you've been a head coach, I feel like you want
- 1:23:03to be a head coach, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:23:05Maybe he doesn't, but I don't know who.
- 1:23:07Let's probably be a head coach if he doesn't make this work.
- 1:23:10And I think he has the ability to be a head coach, but he has
- 1:23:13to prove it, starting with that. Time management, my boy, you
- 1:23:16better get that time management right.
- 1:23:18Use them timeouts, right. Call Shelton if y'all don't know
- 1:23:21what the the time frame is. I mean, he owns.
- 1:23:25The chart. He got the chart.
- 1:23:27College, Bryan, is it? Bryan going to.
- 1:23:33Tell us, I'll talk next. Let let's let's have a little
- 1:23:35conversation. So picture this, it's last year.
- 1:23:39It's late August. You know, you're in Nashville.
- 1:23:43You you've been drinking a couple days.
- 1:23:45You've been having a good time. You go to this this stadium and
- 1:23:49it's it's hot. It's hot as hell.
- 1:23:51And you're sitting there and all of a sudden you come out and you
- 1:23:53see your team and the offense goes up there and it doesn't
- 1:23:56really look like the offense that you expected.
- 1:24:00And, and, and, and you, you kind of scratching your head like,
- 1:24:02what the hell are we doing? So my key, don't be something
- 1:24:06you're not, don't, don't go out there and try to be something
- 1:24:10you're not. Play to your strengths as an
- 1:24:13offense. Play to your strengths as a team
- 1:24:16and let the chips fall where where they may.
- 1:24:18I mean, I, I think they are, you know, top to bottom a more
- 1:24:22talented team, but that doesn't always matter, especially week
- 1:24:251, especially when you got 2 new coordinators that they can't
- 1:24:27really prepare for. So don't be something you're
- 1:24:31not. Play to your strengths and let
- 1:24:33the chips fall where they may. You may should have went last
- 1:24:36because that was better. I went to analytical, my first
- 1:24:40one because I talked about him with with Tim, you got to
- 1:24:45neutralize Kilgore. That kid can pick balls off.
- 1:24:48He can make tackles. Don't make him part of their
- 1:24:52game. Basically get rid of him.
- 1:24:54And I know some people say Stewart, well, you know what
- 1:24:57Stewart is like, It's you can run away from him, run at him.
- 1:25:01You can do some things there. But with this kid, he's playing
- 1:25:04the nickel. Avoid him, avoid running to his
- 1:25:07side. The second one is this, and for
- 1:25:12them last year, turnovers were a big thing.
- 1:25:14In their nine wins, they were like plus 16.
- 1:25:19In their losses, they were -5 basically they lost the turnover
- 1:25:25differential in every single game they lost last year.
- 1:25:30And I think for the Hokies to win, it cannot be on the plus
- 1:25:33side. If it's the plus side it's a 2
- 1:25:35score win for them. If it's even we got a punchers
- 1:25:39chance if we can just steal one possession once.
- 1:25:45If we steal 2 that's when you start getting into the good shit
- 1:25:48because you start stealing 2 possessions.
- 1:25:50OK how much when the turnover battle?
- 1:25:54Because in the games they lost, that was a struggle for them.
- 1:26:01They made those turnovers, they lost possessions, and they lost
- 1:26:03some close games. Last year, they got blown out by
- 1:26:05Ole Miss. The other three games they lost
- 1:26:07were very close games. And I'll be honest, SEC fucking
- 1:26:13gave LSU that game last year, LSU, they gave LSU that game
- 1:26:18down South Carolina straight up. So that's mine.
- 1:26:22All right, Well, we come to the well, almost the end, but we now
- 1:26:25got to make our picks. Who wants to go first?
- 1:26:30I'll go first in Prof fashion. close game.
- 1:26:35South Carolina gets to win. I got 2128.
- 1:26:39Got to be 1 score. One score game, I got it.
- 1:26:41That's what I got. What about you, Sheldon?
- 1:26:46Yeah, I'm going to go 3124 Cox, but I'm actually I'm actually
- 1:26:50going to go back door cover or well, I don't know if it's a
- 1:26:54cover, but it's going to be a back door one score loss, which
- 1:26:56would be very unfortunate, but I just.
- 1:26:58Feel like that? Don't score the last touch.
- 1:27:01Yeah, yeah, I'll. Prize out there?
- 1:27:03No, no, Neil. Neil.
- 1:27:06Yeah, yeah. So I don't know it'll be it'll
- 1:27:08be tight game, lots of unknowns on both sides.
- 1:27:11But I think sellers is probably the the difference maker in this
- 1:27:14one. All righty.
- 1:27:18I'm sorry. Your turn, Sir.
- 1:27:20My turn all right, I'm going to do it.
- 1:27:24We're going to do a bit all right, so this is the bit until
- 1:27:27Prow wins A1 score game. Every fucking prediction that
- 1:27:30I'm going to have on here that's against the power 4 opponent is
- 1:27:34going to be a one score loss for the Hokies.
- 1:27:36So I've got 3330 Cox in this one.
- 1:27:39OK. 3330 Cox I am also I am also I have also picked in South
- 1:27:51Carolina 3324 He will not lose the one that she came to them.
- 1:27:59It will be the one point above it and the way I like my my, my
- 1:28:03head keeps playing it out like I think late game it's going to
- 1:28:08be, I think it's going to be AI think, I think what Cephas does
- 1:28:12and what Montgomery does are going to keep us in it.
- 1:28:14I do think what Brian mentioned about them being just a little
- 1:28:18bit deeper, I think they're going to hold on late.
- 1:28:21It's going to be like 4 minutes left.
- 1:28:23Shane's don't kick the field goal.
- 1:28:25We go up 9 and we aren't going to back door cover shelter.
- 1:28:29We're not going to do that. We're going, we're going.
- 1:28:31We're just not so. Yeah, so.
- 1:28:34Well, let me let me say this right quick before we go to the
- 1:28:37next bit. You see Randy's?
- 1:28:39Randy's. Which one?
- 1:28:42Post there where he says if Penn State moves on from from James
- 1:28:45Franklin. James Franklin.
- 1:28:47Well, I ain't worried about that.
- 1:28:48I just want to see. Just show the fact that he
- 1:28:50called us Holies. Randy, you can't call us Holies
- 1:28:54when we playing the Cox Holies. The Cox ain't going to work
- 1:28:58good, my boy. You got to put that K in there.
- 1:29:02That K is pivotal in this point right here.
- 1:29:06Any other week might have let it slide.
- 1:29:08Autocorrect is whipping Randy's ass right now.
- 1:29:11We didn't. Know, Randy, we can't.
- 1:29:14We can't beat up by the way. By the way, something we did not
- 1:29:17well, it happened after we got off last week.
- 1:29:21Randy King, former Roanoke Times writer passed away and it and
- 1:29:25they played the video you saw that did you see a Shelton?
- 1:29:28They played the Corey Moore video because Corey Moore loved
- 1:29:31Randy King to death. Hey, how you doing Randy after
- 1:29:36he's dropping F bombs on every national reporter Damage to?
- 1:29:39A man with everybody. Great attack.
- 1:29:41And how you doing Randy? How you doing, Randy?
- 1:29:44Sounds great. All right, well, that's our
- 1:29:46predictions. I'd love to see y'all.
- 1:29:48I know there's one in the chat. Let's put it up here.
- 1:29:51All right. Hey, Chris.
- 1:29:53Hey, good, Chris. How are we doing?
- 1:29:57Chris saying loves him kick a late field goal to give us a
- 1:29:59full touchdown win all right I like that all righty as usual
- 1:30:04y'all in this college football season.
- 1:30:06We will be watching our beloved Hokies all season, but we
- 1:30:10partake in things, we watch other games and we always pick
- 1:30:15the big Screener that intrigues us.
- 1:30:18And yes, there is a game you're not going to see on here this
- 1:30:21week, so don't be shocked by it. A Because that line's all shitty
- 1:30:26and anytime it's a pick em game, it ain't fun to really pick.
- 1:30:29But we've all got our games that we got to focus on and it is
- 1:30:33very ACC flavored because we are scheduled to play three of these
- 1:30:38four teams and I'm starting with the first one and we're going to
- 1:30:44Boulder Friday night. Georgia Tech who is every they
- 1:30:49are Virginia Tech this year in the ACC what we were last year,
- 1:30:53people got them all dark force. They could win 11 games.
- 1:30:57OK, cool. Well, they're going out to
- 1:30:59Boulder and they are A5 point favorite on the road elevation
- 1:31:05change. Dionne probably got something to
- 1:31:08prove without without Shidur back there.
- 1:31:12I don't know who's going to win the game, but if you give me a
- 1:31:15home dog with more than three points, I will take it all day
- 1:31:19long. Give me Colorado, Shelton, what
- 1:31:23do you got for this one? Yes, I'm checking GTI.
- 1:31:30Honestly don't really know why too many too many unknowns with
- 1:31:34Colorado is probably the probably the biggest thing.
- 1:31:38But yeah, I just I'd like I like I I really like bring Pi think
- 1:31:42he's I think he's made of the right stuff.
- 1:31:43But it is interesting you bring up the point of like, you know,
- 1:31:46this kind of like the BTC from last year, like will Georgia
- 1:31:49Tech have a similar, you know, underperformance or regression
- 1:31:52that, you know, we saw with BT? So just interest says you that.
- 1:31:57Callum. Georgia Tech.
- 1:32:02I'll tell you why after I picked a couple other games, but
- 1:32:05Georgia Tech. There we go.
- 1:32:09Brian. I'm going to go with, with
- 1:32:11Colorado here. I'm kind of with Curtis on, you
- 1:32:15know, I mean, Dion's coming off a cancer scare.
- 1:32:17He doesn't have Shudur. Like he's got a lot to prove in
- 1:32:20in this year. I think he's going to have them
- 1:32:23ready to play. And with the altitude change,
- 1:32:27you know, Georgia Tech probably top to bottom on that roster,
- 1:32:31probably better. I like, I like what what Brent
- 1:32:33he brings to the table, but I think there's just too many
- 1:32:36other factors at play in this one for that five line at home
- 1:32:40for Colorado. All right, who's next?
- 1:32:47Tally, Tally lead us all. Alabama and Florida State
- 1:32:52Castellano's been doing a lot of talking.
- 1:32:57You know, Alabama's in the second year with their head
- 1:33:00coach after the GOAT has retired.
- 1:33:04I am saying, though, Florida State is going to cover.
- 1:33:08Think they're going to lose, but I think they're going to cover
- 1:33:11now. I'll tell you why did I say
- 1:33:13that? The same reason I said the first
- 1:33:15one, because we play Georgia Tech and we play Florida State.
- 1:33:19Both of those teams are going to look good in the first week.
- 1:33:22So I have to hear about how bad they're going to kill us.
- 1:33:26That's what I'm going to hear the first week.
- 1:33:27Any team that we play is going to look good or compensated and
- 1:33:31they're going to say, man, when we play them, they're going to
- 1:33:33kill us. That's what I'm going to hear on
- 1:33:34on X all freaking week. Florida State's going to
- 1:33:38probably lose by 7 points close game.
- 1:33:41And then people's going to talk about how Florida State's back
- 1:33:44and they also Georgia Tech's going to go out there and whoop
- 1:33:48Colorado and people going to talk about how they win in the
- 1:33:50ACC. That's what happened here all
- 1:33:52week. So hey.
- 1:33:55Tally. I love it.
- 1:33:56I love it, Brian. I've got Alabama in this one.
- 1:34:01I I really don't think Florida State puts the pieces back
- 1:34:04together. I definitely don't think they
- 1:34:06put them back together week one against Alabama.
- 1:34:10I don't care if it's in Tallahassee.
- 1:34:13I I don't care about these other factors.
- 1:34:15I think Alabama's going to take care of business.
- 1:34:16It's not going to be, it's not going to be a huge, huge win,
- 1:34:20but I think it's going to be be those two scores that they need
- 1:34:22to take care of it. All righty.
- 1:34:27I'm kind of with Tally on this one, by the way, Big screen is
- 1:34:30presented by Moments on the Mor, our wonderful sponsor, I think.
- 1:34:35I thought she's going to cover. I think it's going to be a much
- 1:34:37tighter game than people think. I think it Castellanos hadn't
- 1:34:41ran his damn mouth so much they might could have pulled the the
- 1:34:45dub. But I think I think you're
- 1:34:48right, Ally. I think pegging this game is
- 1:34:50somewhere like a touchdown game. And is it cut late or is it you
- 1:34:55know, Bama just holds late? I think 13 has to and again it
- 1:35:00is a home dog, home dog land 13 and a half Shelton.
- 1:35:09Yeah, I'm going to take a slight MSU cover.
- 1:35:11I would have if this game was played under Dick Saban, I
- 1:35:13probably would have taken Bema 10 out of 10 times.
- 1:35:15But I just not the same team, not the same program.
- 1:35:19And I do think people are probably under selling FSUA
- 1:35:21little bit. So I'll take I'll take FSU a
- 1:35:23slight cover. All right, Shelton, you're up
- 1:35:25next. Yeah, so I went with Notre Dame,
- 1:35:28Miami. Interesting matchup.
- 1:35:30Carson Beck making his Kane's debut against the the reigning.
- 1:35:34Well, I guess CFP runner up from last year for this one, I went
- 1:35:40with Notre Dame. I just trust Freeman a little
- 1:35:44bit more and I don't exactly know what what we really have in
- 1:35:46Carson back given that he was obviously playing for really
- 1:35:49talented team last year they lost some weapons.
- 1:35:51So I'm a little bit more confident in Notre Dame than
- 1:35:54they in Miami. Kelly.
- 1:35:58Yeah, I'm taking Notre Dame as well.
- 1:36:00Like Sheldon said, I kind of just trust Freeman a little bit
- 1:36:03more than I trust Miami. I've started to go with my same
- 1:36:08logic as I use with the other teams, but that that line so
- 1:36:11close, it's almost to pick them so they can still look good and
- 1:36:15people going to talk about how they going to kill us too.
- 1:36:16But Notre Dame, I think taking this one.
- 1:36:22I guess that leaves me up next. I'm taking Miami here and it's
- 1:36:28really this is all about line. I I think there's going to be
- 1:36:33some solid play on both both teams here.
- 1:36:36But you know, 2 1/2 home dog. I'm I'm going to go with that in
- 1:36:39in this instance here. I I think they're just too
- 1:36:41evenly matched overall for to go any other direction.
- 1:36:46Yeah, and, and I'm the same way. Give me a give me the, give me
- 1:36:49the underdog at home and just I feel like.
- 1:36:54CJ Carr got. You know, is the quarterback at
- 1:36:56Notre Dame? I just, I think Riley Leonard
- 1:36:59was just a perfect piece for them last year.
- 1:37:02Tough runner, smart kid. And I don't know, can you can
- 1:37:06you recreate magic 2 times in a way in a row?
- 1:37:11So yeah, I, I, I think, I don't know who wins.
- 1:37:13I think the whole thing is I just want to be enjoying this
- 1:37:16game with a victory beer on Sunday night.
- 1:37:20Me. Too.
- 1:37:23Because if not it's I'm going to be in a pissy ass mood till at
- 1:37:27least half. Time.
- 1:37:28I'm with you. I've got you.
- 1:37:30Ron, you got the last one where we go.
- 1:37:34We're so we, we've got the, the Tigers of Death Valley Bowl
- 1:37:36here. We got LSU, Clemson, Clemson,
- 1:37:43you know -4 at home there. I, I'm riding with it.
- 1:37:47I, I feel like this is a program that I think is kind of put the
- 1:37:51pieces back together a little bit.
- 1:37:53And I think this might be a, a year where they can make a
- 1:37:56little bit of a run. So give me Clemson in this one
- 1:38:00down there at their home stadium, the other Death Valley.
- 1:38:05Yep I'm I'm taking Clemson as well.
- 1:38:07I'll lay the four points. Clemson wins by 7.
- 1:38:10Good game on Saturday night. Look forward to getting comfy
- 1:38:14and watching it, not be in a pissy mood.
- 1:38:18Yeah, I saw, I saw a stat the other day that LSU has I think
- 1:38:21has lost four or five straight season openers.
- 1:38:24So for no reason, Brian Kelly just does not have his A game,
- 1:38:27the season opener. So I think I'll take Clemson.
- 1:38:30I like their coaching staff just a little bit better.
- 1:38:33I just like to cause controversy so I say LSU.
- 1:38:36No reason why besides that. Just want to be different and be
- 1:38:40wrong. He wanted to be different.
- 1:38:41He is born of the tiger Eye underneath his name.
- 1:38:44Yeah, Tiger Eye. Well fellas, we got to the end
