- 0:38Speaker 2: Yeah, you were thinking nine pm, You're like, let's go.
- 0:40Speaker 4: Go girl dream honestly, but anyway, I'm here, nice and early,
- 0:45Speaker 4: bright and ready.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Let's go on a pushy tail.
- 0:47Speaker 1: You are, And honestly, we're so grateful because you are
- 0:51Speaker 1: literally seconds away from jumping back on tour.
- 0:54Speaker 4: Yeah, literally leaving here to go to the airport to
- 0:58Speaker 4: fly to Brisbane to kick off the sho shows this week.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Bring back Glamor again.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Yes, round two of this national tour that I embarked
- 1:06Speaker 4: on earlier this year. No plans to obviously do a
- 1:09Speaker 4: second tour, but the first lot selled so well that
- 1:12Speaker 4: we were like, all right, we're better do a few more.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Well, I will say, because there's a couple of tickets
- 1:19Speaker 1: left for a few of the shows, right, most of
- 1:21Speaker 1: them are sold out.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Yeah, we've got Brisbane this week and there's still some
- 1:24Speaker 4: tickets left to the Friday night. This is Friday in Brisbane,
- 1:26Speaker 4: so if any chicks are in Brisbane, Fridays and Brisbane
- 1:33Speaker 4: audiences are crazy, show there on.
- 1:37Speaker 3: A Sunday and we're like, oh, maybe it'll be a
- 1:39Speaker 3: bit more.
- 1:39Speaker 2: No, no, yeah, it was the wildest crowd.
- 1:42Speaker 4: Like when I walked out on stage for this tour
- 1:44Speaker 4: the first night in Brisbane, I was like, I feel
- 1:46Speaker 4: like Taylor Swift. They're screaming screen. It was crazy. So
- 1:52Speaker 4: I love a Brisbane audience.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Well yeah, we were lucky enough to see your show
- 1:56Speaker 1: in Sydney when you did the first round of the
- 1:58Speaker 1: tour earlier this year, and it was so fucking funny.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I feel like, well, we say that every time you
- 2:03Speaker 1: do a show, but every time you just elevate it
- 2:05Speaker 1: again and again, and I feel like you definitely could
- 2:07Speaker 1: hear us cackling from.
- 2:08Speaker 4: The oh for sure, I can always spot you from
- 2:11Speaker 4: the crowd. It is hilarious. And thank you as well
- 2:13Speaker 4: for always supporting and coming to my show and showing
- 2:17Speaker 4: up for me because it doesn't go out notice and
- 2:20Speaker 4: for that, honestly, there's so many who don't.
- 2:28Speaker 1: We will make sure to put a link in the
- 2:30Speaker 1: show notes for where you can grab tickets because there
- 2:32Speaker 1: are a couple of.
- 2:33Speaker 4: Shows, thank you. Yeah, I mean there's We're also doing
- 2:36Speaker 4: some regionals as well, like Tamworth, Coffs, Harbor, Bendy Go Geelong,
- 2:39Speaker 4: like I'm going back home to the Central Coast if
- 2:43Speaker 4: you want to come out and have a really camp night.
- 2:45Speaker 4: The shows bring Back Clamor it's all about how ugly
- 2:47Speaker 4: the world is right now, and you know, it's a
- 2:49Speaker 4: very political show about the rise of conservative right wing
- 2:53Speaker 4: and how we need to bring back glamour because the
- 2:56Speaker 4: world's getting too ugly for my liking, and so I
- 2:59Speaker 4: teach everyone how to do that.
- 3:01Speaker 3: I love that. That's such and it's such a beautiful
- 3:04Speaker 3: like premise of the show. It's such a beautiful like thing.
- 3:08Speaker 3: And then you're just funny as fuck and like it's.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Like it's a very earnest but then the actual show
- 3:14Speaker 1: is fucking diabolic. Yeah, so yeah, it's so funny.
- 3:21Speaker 2: But now we've got that out.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Of the way.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Very important up top, first, should we get into our tea.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Yeah, so kick us off. What's the tea?
- 3:29Speaker 1: Okay, the tea is Have you seen that for the
- 3:32Speaker 1: last like five or six days, Zy Larson has been
- 3:35Speaker 1: doing the midnight Sun Dance until she sells out her
- 3:38Speaker 1: Bangkok show.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, but I.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Haven't looked into what's actually happening with the Bangkok show.
- 3:43Speaker 4: I'm assuming it's not selling very well.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Yeah, So essentially that is what's happened, because I think that,
- 3:48Speaker 1: like her Sydney show sold out straight away. I think
- 3:50Speaker 1: quite a few of her shows for this tour have
- 3:53Speaker 1: sold out very very quickly. Yeah. I think she's had
- 3:56Speaker 1: like a run of really good sold out shows. Yeah yeah,
- 3:59Speaker 1: and then for some reason, the Bangkok show isn't selling
- 4:03Speaker 1: very well. So yeah, so she's been jumping on TikTok
- 4:06Speaker 1: just like unabashedly being like.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Doing this dance until the tickets sell.
- 4:10Speaker 1: And I think a lot of people have kind of
- 4:11Speaker 1: been clapping back in the comments, being like, well they're
- 4:15Speaker 1: not selling.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Well because it's too expensive.
- 4:17Speaker 3: How much are the tickets?
- 4:18Speaker 1: So I had a look, and the standard tickets range
- 4:21Speaker 1: from approximately one hundred and nineteen to one hundred and
- 4:24Speaker 1: sixty six Australian dollars okay, which if you think about it,
- 4:28Speaker 1: like one hundred and twenty dollars being start Gaga, I.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Mean, I know we're talking fifty yeah.
- 4:35Speaker 1: But yeah, but I'm like, I don't know what Gaga is,
- 4:37Speaker 1: like starting price would have been, whereas like one hundred
- 4:42Speaker 1: and twenty dollars for the starting ticket is pretty expensive.
- 4:46Speaker 2: However, I do think that if.
- 4:47Speaker 1: You compare that across yeah, shows like touring at the moment,
- 4:51Speaker 1: that is kind of a par And the thing is,
- 4:53Speaker 1: and I'm sure you're going to get into this, from what.
- 4:56Speaker 3: I've seen, never been to, is that a gunzit? But
- 4:59Speaker 3: from what I've seen online, it's a production. Like she
- 5:02Speaker 3: has heaps of dances and like heaps of lights and
- 5:06Speaker 3: costume changes and all of that.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Yeah, surely that comes into costing. Yeah exactly, Well that
- 5:13Speaker 1: was kind of what she was saying. So people were
- 5:15Speaker 1: clapping back in the comments. And I love her because
- 5:17Speaker 1: she's just chronically online. Yeah, like so she's always like
- 5:20Speaker 1: if anybody is ever referencing her and it goes virale,
- 5:23Speaker 1: She's always in the comments like hey, and she actually
- 5:25Speaker 1: like talks back to or speaks to her audience and
- 5:28Speaker 1: her fans, yeah, and her fans and somebody yeah did
- 5:31Speaker 1: point out like, well, girls, because we can't afford it,
- 5:34Speaker 1: the tickets are too expensive, And her response to one
- 5:36Speaker 1: of these comments was, I agree. I don't want my
- 5:39Speaker 1: tickets to be too pricey, and I will definitely see
- 5:41Speaker 1: what I can do about that. But right now in
- 5:44Speaker 1: my career, I'm definitely not making big bucks on touring.
- 5:47Speaker 2: It's basically a nonprofit at this point.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Everything that I make goes into paying people, transportation, production,
- 5:53Speaker 1: et cetera.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Which I was like, I think that is the.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Thing that a lot of people don't realize because for
- 5:59Speaker 1: some artists, touring and merchandise are definitely big money makers
- 6:04Speaker 1: for them because we I think a lot of us
- 6:06Speaker 1: do know that streaming, especially for music, like streaming music,
- 6:10Speaker 1: you don't actually get that much money from that. So
- 6:13Speaker 1: but I've heard you speak about this, Matt, and like,
- 6:16Speaker 1: what do you think when you hear people, you know,
- 6:18Speaker 1: critiquing whether it's like a Zara Larson or Harry Styles
- 6:22Speaker 1: or whoever it is, on.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Like the cost of concert tickets at the moment.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Well, I always say that if I wanted to be rich,
- 6:30Speaker 4: I would not do comedy shows. There is no money
- 6:34Speaker 4: in touring, and I haven't heard her say that whole
- 6:36Speaker 4: like it's basically a non for profit right now, and
- 6:38Speaker 4: I'm like, that is me right now. And it's one
- 6:41Speaker 4: of those funny things because it's almost like the bigger
- 6:43Speaker 4: you go and the more shows you do, the less
- 6:46Speaker 4: money you make. Like my last to a Dancing Queen
- 6:49Speaker 4: was really successful. We did like fifteen shows around the
- 6:52Speaker 4: country and they all sold out and I made good money.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Like it wasn't great. If, as I said, if I
- 6:56Speaker 4: wanted to make money, I wouldn't do the shows at all.
- 6:59Speaker 4: I just do sponsored videos or things like that. But
- 7:02Speaker 4: then with this tour, we've gone from we're gonna do
- 7:05Speaker 4: thirty seven shows all up, so we've almost rippled the
- 7:08Speaker 4: amount of shows and I'm probably gonna make less money
- 7:11Speaker 4: than the time before. And then things like merch. I
- 7:13Speaker 4: look at doing merch and things like that, and the
- 7:16Speaker 4: process one is so time consuming, especially for me, like
- 7:19Speaker 4: Zara last night, I mean, she would have like a
- 7:22Speaker 4: bigger team behind her, you know, doing all the logistics
- 7:25Speaker 4: of this, but like for me, there's just a small
- 7:27Speaker 4: team kind of doing this with me. And the fact was,
- 7:31Speaker 4: if I was to lug all the merch all around
- 7:33Speaker 4: the country, which so many people want it. They all
- 7:35Speaker 4: want They said, we would have bought a shirt if
- 7:37Speaker 4: you had a shirt, and I love hearing that, but
- 7:39Speaker 4: it's like, well, when I make my thirty three cents
- 7:41Speaker 4: off the T shirt that you've got, it's like not
- 7:44Speaker 4: worth my time to pay the shipping fees to and
- 7:47Speaker 4: from venues, or even just adding on another suitcase and
- 7:49Speaker 4: like taking it in a suitcase on the plane. Maybe
- 7:52Speaker 4: I don't know, God forbid that goes missing. Like there's
- 7:54Speaker 4: a lot to worry about, and so costs really do
- 7:57Speaker 4: add up, but you just can't look at it like that.
- 8:00Speaker 4: I'm sure Zara probably sees this as well, the same
- 8:02Speaker 4: as I do. Is that my shows are away for
- 8:05Speaker 4: my audience to connect with me on a deeper level,
- 8:09Speaker 4: on a different level, and it's about making that connection
- 8:12Speaker 4: with my audience, giving them something that they don't get online.
- 8:15Speaker 4: And you know, it's all good and well to like
- 8:17Speaker 4: listen to Zara's music all the time, but seeing a
- 8:20Speaker 4: person in concert is like it's worth every dollar in
- 8:23Speaker 4: my opinion, like that. I mean, look at when I
- 8:25Speaker 4: did the Kylie minogue to around the country. I was
- 8:27Speaker 4: spending seven hundred and fifty dollars per ticket on some
- 8:30Speaker 4: of them to be front row obviously and get like
- 8:31Speaker 4: the VIP package. And everyone's heard that story a million
- 8:37Speaker 4: billion times. But I went to every show in the
- 8:39Speaker 4: country of Kylie Minogue because I'm such a big fan
- 8:42Speaker 4: and I'd saved up for years to go, and I
- 8:47Speaker 4: really wanted to meet and greet, but she didn't do
- 8:49Speaker 4: them because it was just stuff for the pandemic, and
- 8:51Speaker 4: so people aren't really doing meet and greets at all
- 8:52Speaker 4: these days. I don't think. Yeah, I was hoping for
- 8:57Speaker 4: events and Boone meet and greet, but god, you probably
- 8:59Speaker 4: heard I had one and said to cancel that guarantee.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Yeah. Have you seen the video of him in the
- 9:05Speaker 3: Spider Man mask?
- 9:06Speaker 4: Of course I have too many times.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Video so long and I was like, shut up.
- 9:13Speaker 3: I was like, I love Spider Man and he's like, oh,
- 9:16Speaker 3: Tom Holden. I was like, yeah, definitely not. Oh.
- 9:23Speaker 4: I love when Benson gets his ads out. It's a
- 9:25Speaker 4: good day, Like he.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Doesn't flip and that land in the Spider Man.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Oh yeah, because he's a real flippity dippity.
- 9:31Speaker 3: He gets flippery dippity righting.
- 9:34Speaker 4: Expensive just for the insurance on him all those treats. Well,
- 9:38Speaker 4: I think imagine pink, you know, flying around the abbey.
- 9:41Speaker 4: The public liability insurance would be through the roof deal
- 9:46Speaker 4: because I have to pay insurance for my shows, and
- 9:49Speaker 4: it works out to be a couple of dollars like
- 9:51Speaker 4: per ticket, right, and then at the end of the
- 9:53Speaker 4: day and then you have to like also get a
- 9:55Speaker 4: public liability insurance license sort of thing. I don't know
- 9:58Speaker 4: how it works. I just pay you what I need
- 9:59Speaker 4: to pay. That's it. But it's funny where you select
- 10:02Speaker 4: what kind of things you do. And I noticed, because
- 10:05Speaker 4: obviously I've been getting it for about five years now,
- 10:07Speaker 4: I noticed last time I signed up they've added a
- 10:09Speaker 4: new one. They said, please look at our new categories
- 10:12Speaker 4: of things that you're doing on stage, and they've added
- 10:15Speaker 4: bubble blowing. So someone's been popped in the eye or
- 10:20Speaker 4: maybe slipped on a bit of detergent on the floor.
- 10:22Speaker 4: I don't know, but bubble blowing has been added. Because
- 10:25Speaker 4: you have for anyone who doesn't know you, tick what
- 10:27Speaker 4: you do on stage, and then they tell you the
- 10:29Speaker 4: price of what your insurance is.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Confetti technique, if your.
- 10:33Speaker 4: Sword swallowing on stage obviously your insurance is probably higher
- 10:36Speaker 4: than fine when I just stand there with a microphone.
- 10:39Speaker 4: So but yeah, there's all those little costs, and I
- 10:42Speaker 4: think anyone I've always been that person that's like, anyone
- 10:45Speaker 4: can charge anything for anything they put out into the world.
- 10:48Speaker 4: If Zarah Larson thinks she's worth seven hundred dollars a ticket,
- 10:51Speaker 4: she has every right to do that. And if people
- 10:54Speaker 4: want to pay it or not want to pay it,
- 10:56Speaker 4: then that's up to them. But yeah, I don't don't
- 11:01Speaker 4: don't call me an out of touch influencer, but like,
- 11:03Speaker 4: I just think, like one hundred and twenty bucks Australian
- 11:06Speaker 4: is not that expensive for a concert.
- 11:08Speaker 2: I agree with you.
- 11:08Speaker 3: I think it's everyone's own prerogative of what they want
- 11:11Speaker 3: to spend. And I've seen the videos of her concerts
- 11:14Speaker 3: and it's a whole shebang. Yeah, and her live talent
- 11:18Speaker 3: is incredible.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's the thing.
- 11:20Speaker 1: I'm like, I can understand though, that some people do
- 11:23Speaker 1: think that that do think that's out of their grass,
- 11:26Speaker 1: and I think we are seeing that. Like there's this
- 11:29Speaker 1: thing called blue Dot fever, and it refers to the
- 11:32Speaker 1: amount of concerts that have had to be canceled because
- 11:36Speaker 1: tickets aren't selling. Like, I don't know if you saw,
- 11:38Speaker 1: but Megan Trainer canceled her.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Yeah, Pussycat Dolls also post malone.
- 11:44Speaker 1: So like people who are still relatively current as well,
- 11:48Speaker 1: look it.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Not to be a nerd and bring it back, but like,
- 11:51Speaker 3: look at I think in this last year we had
- 11:53Speaker 3: three Australian musicals canceled Waitress, Beetlejuice, and there was another
- 11:58Speaker 3: one that I can't remember that it's run was sure. Yeah,
- 12:02Speaker 3: it's like there's definitely.
- 12:05Speaker 4: Going to be money love you know, No, it's going
- 12:07Speaker 4: to be money at the moment. And I guess, like
- 12:09Speaker 4: one hundred and twenty dollars is groceries for someone for
- 12:11Speaker 4: well maybe not even to be honest, every time I
- 12:15Speaker 4: do the grocery, they go, oh my god, I'm eating
- 12:17Speaker 4: for one person because Sky, my partner, is a vegetarian,
- 12:20Speaker 4: so we cooked totally separate meals. We don't really cook
- 12:22Speaker 4: anything together. And every time I do the groceries, I'm like,
- 12:26Speaker 4: this is for one person. Yeah, I can't imagine raising
- 12:29Speaker 4: a family of all, you know.
- 12:30Speaker 3: So yeah, like, oh, we've run out of cheese.
- 12:33Speaker 4: I'm like, why is cheese so expensive? Let's unpacked that
- 12:38Speaker 4: I'm back on cheese stringers. By the way, we've got
- 12:40Speaker 4: to we've literally got cheese.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Are they plastic? Maybe? Do I care?
- 12:47Speaker 4: But and you know, they've got new flavors of the
- 12:49Speaker 4: cheese stringers now, so you can get tasty cheese stringers.
- 12:52Speaker 4: So still the same string as brand, but they can
- 12:54Speaker 4: get up.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Do you remember the ad back in the nineties and
- 12:57Speaker 3: he has the hair for I loved him. Yeah he
- 12:59Speaker 3: was he had Yeah, the cheese, the cheese stringer guy.
- 13:07Speaker 3: He sucks good.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Hed you can he be a quick fuck? Or would
- 13:12Speaker 4: he make love?
- 13:12Speaker 3: No? No, no, he'd be using his stringers. He'd be
- 13:15Speaker 3: like in the bondage and ship.
- 13:20Speaker 4: No.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I love it, I love it.
- 13:22Speaker 3: I like you.
- 13:23Speaker 2: But where were Tazara?
- 13:25Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 13:26Speaker 3: I wanted to say on this though, is that I
- 13:29Speaker 3: think it's really cool to see her like trying. I
- 13:34Speaker 3: think this whole thing a bit like that it's like embarrassing,
- 13:37Speaker 3: like not that I feel this way, but that it
- 13:39Speaker 3: would be embarrassing to be like, oh, my show hasn't
- 13:41Speaker 3: sold out, I'm going to try and sell tickets. And
- 13:44Speaker 3: I feel like I've seen, you know, people online be
- 13:46Speaker 3: trying to sell tickets and it's you know, they'll get
- 13:49Speaker 3: like like, oh, we didn't sell. Didn't tell that. I'm like,
- 13:52Speaker 3: I actually think it's so commendable to be like my
- 13:54Speaker 3: show hasn't sold, but I want it to, so I'm
- 13:56Speaker 3: going to try. Yeah, exactly, like she's at least putting
- 13:59Speaker 3: herself out there, because I think that's some of the
- 14:02Speaker 3: things that people Then that's the thing, though, you can't
- 14:04Speaker 3: win because then there's other people like Megan Trainer, for example,
- 14:08Speaker 3: who when she canceled her tour, she did say that
- 14:11Speaker 3: that was because of she's like recording an album and
- 14:14Speaker 3: she's raising like her young family, and she was like,
- 14:16Speaker 3: I just don't have the time, and everybody was like.
- 14:19Speaker 2: No, girl, it's because the tickets didn't sell.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Which I'm like, either way, either of those are fair
- 14:23Speaker 1: excuses to cancel a tour really, but it's like, you know,
- 14:27Speaker 1: people will be like come up with some like more
- 14:29Speaker 1: pr friendly excuse as to why, and they you know,
- 14:33Speaker 1: critique for that, or somebody like Zara's like putting herself
- 14:36Speaker 1: out there and they're like, but I do feel like
- 14:38Speaker 1: people are.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Getting around it.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, because I loved Matt when you I think
- 14:43Speaker 1: it was I think it was this tour and you
- 14:45Speaker 1: were like, it's sold out, and then you're like, oh wait,
- 14:49Speaker 1: it's got all about.
- 14:50Speaker 2: That, but the chicks, you won't across it.
- 14:52Speaker 4: So basically, so basically what happened is when the tour
- 14:55Speaker 4: first went on sale. The very next morning, I woke
- 14:58Speaker 4: up and you couldn't get a ticket on ticket tech
- 15:00Speaker 4: anymore for any of the Brisbane shows. And so I've
- 15:01Speaker 4: gone on pot, god, it's sold out. It's sold out,
- 15:04Speaker 4: And so I got online and I was like, Brisbane
- 15:06Speaker 4: sold out, Oh my god, Oh my god. And then
- 15:09Speaker 4: I got an email later that day or a couple
- 15:11Speaker 4: of days later there was like, hey, sorry, there was
- 15:13Speaker 4: an admin erar and we only put like fifty of
- 15:15Speaker 4: the two hundred tickets on sale, so just letting you know.
- 15:20Speaker 4: Now another one hundred and fifty tickets have gone. So
- 15:22Speaker 4: I went no, under it's sold out so quickly, and
- 15:24Speaker 4: so I had to then do another video being like okay,
- 15:26Speaker 4: I said it was sold out, But that actually worked
- 15:28Speaker 4: really well because then they sold out really quickly because everyone,
- 15:30Speaker 4: you know.
- 15:31Speaker 3: They missed out.
- 15:32Speaker 4: I went in with like a strategy this year because
- 15:36Speaker 4: I don't spend any money on marketing for my shows.
- 15:40Speaker 4: It is all me on the podcast or coming on
- 15:42Speaker 4: other podcasts like Today, or just on my social media.
- 15:45Speaker 4: That's all the promo that I do. And then because
- 15:48Speaker 4: I hate spending money on marketing, I don't want to
- 15:51Speaker 4: do it. I want the money in my pocket.
- 15:52Speaker 3: You know, there's some marketing that I'm like, I wonder
- 15:54Speaker 3: how much that works, Like if you see a poster
- 15:55Speaker 3: on a poll, how how often do you exactly?
- 15:58Speaker 4: And that's the thing is when we did my first
- 16:00Speaker 4: to my tool manager was like, oh, yeah, we've got
- 16:03Speaker 4: a thousand flyers in Adelaide, and I was like, well,
- 16:06Speaker 4: how many tickets is that? Who's seeing a flyer in
- 16:08Speaker 4: a cafe and actually picking that up and coming to
- 16:10Speaker 4: the show? I don't. I don't know. Maybe they maybe
- 16:12Speaker 4: they do.
- 16:13Speaker 3: But I, as my consumer habits, I don't know.
- 16:17Speaker 2: By the time I see that, I can't remember. Usually
- 16:20Speaker 2: I've already bought tickets to.
- 16:21Speaker 4: It to go. I even write things down to remember
- 16:24Speaker 4: them and then forget I've written them.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Down, loads up and you're like, what does cheese string
- 16:28Speaker 3: us bondage?
- 16:30Speaker 2: Bondage? Yeah, idea.
- 16:33Speaker 4: Yeah. I went in with the strategy of like being
- 16:36Speaker 4: really honest and almost lifting the curtain a little bit
- 16:39Speaker 4: on how the whole thing works, because people just don't
- 16:41Speaker 4: really understand, and people have found it really really interesting.
- 16:45Speaker 4: And so that's like one way that I've been able
- 16:47Speaker 4: to sell tickets is like being like, here's a behind
- 16:49Speaker 4: the scenes, like this is what my backstage looks like,
- 16:51Speaker 4: this is how I get to the stage, This is
- 16:53Speaker 4: how ticket sales work. Also being really open with my
- 16:55Speaker 4: ticket sales and like getting on being like this is
- 16:57Speaker 4: how many tickets have sold. People get investors and almost
- 17:00Speaker 4: like root for me and go, oh, there's only eight
- 17:02Speaker 4: tickets left in Adelaide. Oh buy one. Oh, come and
- 17:04Speaker 4: be one of those eight people, so you can say
- 17:05Speaker 4: it's sold out, you know, so they want to like
- 17:07Speaker 4: get on board. And so I really respect what Sarah
- 17:10Speaker 4: Larson's doing, and as you said, what's what is wrong
- 17:13Speaker 4: with given something a go and trying. But I will
- 17:16Speaker 4: say it is a humiliation ritual prima, please come and
- 17:20Speaker 4: see me.
- 17:21Speaker 3: To my party.
- 17:24Speaker 1: But I do think it's character building and it sounds
- 17:26Speaker 1: like forge that connection even more, which is the whole
- 17:29Speaker 1: point of the tour.
- 17:30Speaker 3: So kudo Sarah, and udo's to humored.
- 17:40Speaker 2: So Matt, it's your turn.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Okay, well the tea. I'm going on a bit of
- 17:44Speaker 4: a Matt's rant of the week, which is, you know
- 17:46Speaker 4: how everyone's doing the trend five things that are worth
- 17:48Speaker 4: the money? Nothing you've done it have for you? Now,
- 17:50Speaker 4: what did you say? We're on yours?
- 17:52Speaker 3: My bravel coffee machine, my dice and eir rap pet insurance. Okay,
- 17:58Speaker 3: oh my kindle, Yeah, those were the four. Let's go
- 18:01Speaker 3: with that.
- 18:01Speaker 4: Okay. So here's the thing, everyone, I am sick of
- 18:04Speaker 4: these videos. I'm sick of these five things that are
- 18:06Speaker 4: worth the money. And it's like organic much of powder, dison,
- 18:11Speaker 4: air wraps. Sorry to call you out, you know, it's
- 18:14Speaker 4: my this vacuum cleaner that Let's be real, all right,
- 18:18Speaker 4: we need to actually have a conversation about being smarter
- 18:21Speaker 4: with our money. My five things that are worth the money,
- 18:24Speaker 4: Let's start with health insurance. That's that should be a
- 18:27Speaker 4: priority above a dice and air wrap. So insurance, I'm
- 18:33Speaker 4: bad by that actually because I missed that. I missed that.
- 18:35Speaker 4: I was going to call you out the whole video,
- 18:36Speaker 4: but health insurance, let's go at least ambulance cover. Come on.
- 18:41Speaker 4: I had some gallstones a couple of years ago, and
- 18:43Speaker 4: I had to get get.
- 18:44Speaker 3: An ambulance video airport.
- 18:47Speaker 4: Yes, at the airport, and when you get an air
- 18:50Speaker 4: when you get an ambulance, obviously they send you the
- 18:52Speaker 4: bill and then like you you have to say, like,
- 18:55Speaker 4: I've got insurance so I don't have to pay this.
- 18:57Speaker 4: And because it was from the airport, so much more.
- 19:01Speaker 4: And for those who don't know, quick story is I
- 19:04Speaker 4: was going. I was flying to Melbourne and it was
- 19:06Speaker 4: just after the Tailor Swift concerts and so the airport
- 19:09Speaker 4: was packed and I start getting this real weird pain
- 19:11Speaker 4: in my stomach and I'm like, oh my god, something's
- 19:12Speaker 4: not right. And I'm like I can't fly. And I'm
- 19:14Speaker 4: someone who's like pushed through pushed through, you know. And
- 19:16Speaker 4: it was for a job and I was getting paid
- 19:17Speaker 4: a lot of bloody money for it, so I wanted
- 19:19Speaker 4: to go on the fly like I was like nothing
- 19:21Speaker 4: stopping me from getting on the flight. I am on
- 19:23Speaker 4: the ground like like just wriggling in pain. They've put
- 19:27Speaker 4: up the screens around it, They've got the defibrillate around
- 19:30Speaker 4: they think I'm having a heart attack. Anyway, they call
- 19:32Speaker 4: an ambulance. And the thing is that Sydney Airport is
- 19:35Speaker 4: to get for the ambulance to get to you, because
- 19:37Speaker 4: they've got to bring all the equipment in and stuff, like,
- 19:40Speaker 4: they can't come through security and that's a security risk,
- 19:43Speaker 4: so they just actually come on the tarmac where the
- 19:45Speaker 4: planes are taking off care So for the whole time
- 19:48Speaker 4: that I was getting medical attention, they actually had to
- 19:51Speaker 4: shut down Sydney Airport for me for about forty five
- 19:54Speaker 4: minutes so that the ambulance could run onto the drive,
- 19:56Speaker 4: onto the tarmac and come to the door. And then
- 19:59Speaker 4: they put me on the stretcher and took me to
- 20:01Speaker 4: hospital and then I go off on the time. But
- 20:03Speaker 4: because of that, because they don't know whether the person's
- 20:05Speaker 4: like having a heart attack or whatever, they just have
- 20:07Speaker 4: to hold all planes international and domestic until further notice.
- 20:11Speaker 3: So these people everyone lying around for forty five minutes,
- 20:13Speaker 3: and everyone's in Taylor Swift merch and everyone's seen all
- 20:17Speaker 3: my videos from Taylor Swift because you know, they were
- 20:20Speaker 3: doing really well on social media, so everyone's recognizing me.
- 20:22Speaker 4: I'm on the ground and at that point I'd never
- 20:24Speaker 4: had a gallstone attack, so which by the way, it's
- 20:27Speaker 4: one in three, so everyone get ready. But I was like,
- 20:30Speaker 4: like I honestly, was like, I'm dying, but I had
- 20:32Speaker 4: kidney stones before. These things run in my family. I
- 20:36Speaker 4: don't think Dad's got a gall blood. I think great
- 20:37Speaker 4: Dad had his out as well. Like, yeah, anyway, so
- 20:41Speaker 4: I've got it removed now, so I never have a
- 20:42Speaker 4: gall bladder attack again, thank God. But where the frick
- 20:46Speaker 4: was I going with this health abulance cover?
- 20:48Speaker 3: Anyway?
- 20:49Speaker 4: It was like three and a half thousand dollars for
- 20:50Speaker 4: the ambulance and then I didn't have to pay that
- 20:52Speaker 4: because I had health insurance which included ambulance cover. But yeah,
- 20:57Speaker 4: like I think as well, I just watched those videos
- 21:02Speaker 4: and I'm just like, we need to start being a
- 21:05Speaker 4: little bit smarter with our money. Yeah, And it's funny
- 21:08Speaker 4: that I'm now having this conversation after talking about concert
- 21:11Speaker 4: tickets and being like, yeah, it's seven hundred and fifty
- 21:12Speaker 4: dollars on kid even know, Look, if I could go back,
- 21:15Speaker 4: it was an amazing time. But if I can go back,
- 21:16Speaker 4: I would love to maybe spend half that money instead.
- 21:18Speaker 4: I have a little bit money, more money out my
- 21:20Speaker 4: sleeve now well for things like too, and maybe I
- 21:23Speaker 4: could have done the merch or whatever.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Do you know what I mean, yeah, that's the thing
- 21:26Speaker 3: is I in the video, I was like petsurance, and
- 21:28Speaker 3: I was like, the thing is with some of these
- 21:30Speaker 3: I get it, like some people have never maybe they
- 21:34Speaker 3: paid for peturants in their entire pet's life and they've
- 21:36Speaker 3: never had to call it in. But for me, my
- 21:39Speaker 3: pets are three and one and it saved me over
- 21:43Speaker 3: sixteen thousand dollars that I pay thirty five dollars a month.
- 21:46Speaker 2: I know it's a little bit.
- 21:47Speaker 3: I know it's more expensive for dogs than cats. Yeah,
- 21:49Speaker 3: so like that's also, you know, something to consider, But
- 21:53Speaker 3: I would have I worked it out because there was
- 21:55Speaker 3: a there was a comment that was like just put
- 21:58Speaker 3: that money in a savings and you know you don't,
- 22:01Speaker 3: like it's too expensive you put money into savings? What
- 22:04Speaker 3: if you're not good at saving money? Like it's a
- 22:07Speaker 3: lot for me, Like saving money is a journey and
- 22:10Speaker 3: I haven't always been really really good at it. So
- 22:12Speaker 3: I was like, not that I'm really really good at
- 22:14Speaker 3: it now, but I'm just saying that, Like it would
- 22:16Speaker 3: have taken me, it would take me thirty eight years
- 22:19Speaker 3: to put thirty five dollars into a bank account and
- 22:22Speaker 3: to have the amount ready that I needed to have
- 22:25Speaker 3: for that thing. So it's like, for me, it's was
- 22:29Speaker 3: absolutely worth it because I remember when they were sick
- 22:32Speaker 3: and that like the our cat was in like emergency
- 22:35Speaker 3: VET hospital on Christmas, and I just remember saying to Rob,
- 22:38Speaker 3: I can't imagine being in this car and having to
- 22:42Speaker 3: contemplate whether or not we can afford to like save
- 22:44Speaker 3: our cat's life and be like and or then you
- 22:48Speaker 3: just have to bring them home and just hope for
- 22:50Speaker 3: the best. And I was like, to me, that is
- 22:52Speaker 3: worth thirty five dollars a month any day.
- 22:55Speaker 1: The fact way, I also just think this might be
- 22:57Speaker 1: a hot take, but for me, when I look like,
- 23:00Speaker 1: if I can afford to have a pet, part of
- 23:03Speaker 1: the cost is insurance, and if I can't afford the insurance,
- 23:06Speaker 1: I can't afford to have a pet.
- 23:07Speaker 4: Yes, I agree, yes, but that's what I think fat
- 23:10Speaker 4: thing's worth the money. Insurance, insurance, insurance, insurance, traveling. I mean,
- 23:15Speaker 4: how would you go traveling without travel insurance stress. Even
- 23:19Speaker 4: some of my friends don't do, like, you know, I
- 23:21Speaker 4: have to get all the insurances for your car. They
- 23:23Speaker 4: don't do one of the insurances.
- 23:26Speaker 3: One slip, that's the one that you need or just.
- 23:29Speaker 4: Like the I don't know. There's one of my friends
- 23:32Speaker 4: had an accident long ago and I was like, yeah,
- 23:34Speaker 4: you've got insurance, Like nah, don't And I was like,
- 23:37Speaker 4: why are you driving without insurance to cover yourself?
- 23:40Speaker 3: You got the you have to get the compulsory that
- 23:42Speaker 3: cover someone else that doesn't cover you.
- 23:45Speaker 4: I don't know anyway, I just think insurance And just
- 23:48Speaker 4: a hot tip for you because we spoke about this
- 23:50Speaker 4: not long ago on my podcast, but look into your
- 23:54Speaker 4: health insurance if you are paying because mine kept going
- 23:56Speaker 4: up each year and I just thought, well, cost of living,
- 23:59Speaker 4: everything's going up in inflation, like it's just you know,
- 24:01Speaker 4: going up as it is. Anyway, this year, I was like,
- 24:04Speaker 4: this is diabolical. While am I paying like four thousand
- 24:07Speaker 4: dollars a year for health insurance? This cannot be right.
- 24:09Speaker 4: I looked into it. Well, they automatically added midwife stuff
- 24:13Speaker 4: and pregnancy stuff and this that and everything, and I
- 24:16Speaker 4: was like, hang on, there's something's gone wrong here. And
- 24:19Speaker 4: so they'd added on each year and I don't know
- 24:21Speaker 4: what went wrong, And I don't know whether it was
- 24:22Speaker 4: just me or whether these things happened to a lot
- 24:24Speaker 4: of people, but yeah, I noticed, and so I gone
- 24:27Speaker 4: on and I changed it and anyway, I ended up
- 24:28Speaker 4: saving three and a half thousand dollars on my insurance
- 24:31Speaker 4: for the year for health insurance. Yeah, so it's just
- 24:33Speaker 4: a reminder, look into it, look into everything.
- 24:36Speaker 3: Yeah, what's the cost for the peace of mind that
- 24:40Speaker 3: it gives you?
- 24:41Speaker 2: Exactly?
- 24:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:42Speaker 1: And because everybody always thinks that will never happen to.
- 24:45Speaker 4: Me, exactly will it does? Well, that's me. I had
- 24:47Speaker 4: a good health track record as well. I've never had
- 24:49Speaker 4: anything wrong with me, basically touch wood. And then when
- 24:53Speaker 4: I got the gall stones, like that's the first time
- 24:55Speaker 4: I'd ever I feel like even had to go to hospital,
- 24:58Speaker 4: Like had never been in ambulance before. You know, I've
- 25:01Speaker 4: never even broken a bone, So it's like I always
- 25:03Speaker 4: get touchwood. Yeah. It was one of those things where
- 25:06Speaker 4: I'm like, Okay, I never thought it would happen to me.
- 25:08Speaker 4: And now I'm laying on the floor of an air
- 25:09Speaker 4: port with a thousand talists with fans around me, and
- 25:14Speaker 4: I can't breathe and I can't move, and I am
- 25:16Speaker 4: about to get airlifted out of here. Thank god I'm
- 25:18Speaker 4: at an airport.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Literally, But also when you're stressed about your health.
- 25:22Speaker 3: I was going to say, when you're in pain, when
- 25:23Speaker 3: you're like sick and you really just need to focus
- 25:25Speaker 3: on getting better, you don't want to be sitting there
- 25:27Speaker 3: going how much is can I afford it?
- 25:30Speaker 2: Because that's what a lot of people end.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Up doing, And I think that is like also something
- 25:34Speaker 1: that a lot of people have done, Like people aren't
- 25:36Speaker 1: going to the doctors or the dentists and stuff because
- 25:39Speaker 1: they can't afford it.
- 25:40Speaker 2: So I do also want to.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Acknowledge that that like for some people as well, like
- 25:45Speaker 1: insurances is like, well I can't afford That's.
- 25:48Speaker 4: A privilege to have. It should be a priority, though
- 25:51Speaker 4: it is a privilege, but it should be a priority
- 25:53Speaker 4: in my opinion.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 25:54Speaker 4: Yeah. But I am a big insurance girly.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Yeah, we love insurance.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Compare your options, yeah, not financial advice, YadA, YadA, YadA, YadA.
- 26:10Speaker 2: Okay, al, what's the tea?
- 26:13Speaker 3: Okay, My tea is that I'm sure you guys have
- 26:15Speaker 3: already seen this online, is that Barbi two is facing
- 26:19Speaker 3: potential cancelations. Have you seen this?
- 26:22Speaker 2: Yeah? Have you seen this?
- 26:24Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah? Yeah, So essentially what's happening is Barbi two
- 26:29Speaker 3: has been pitched, it's been wanting to go. It's like
- 26:31Speaker 3: in pre production kind of stages. It's not locked in. However,
- 26:36Speaker 3: the cast of Marco, Robbie, Ryan Gosling, and Greta Gowig
- 26:40Speaker 3: have declined their offers. And this is alleged reportedly because
- 26:45Speaker 3: none of this is confirmed, right like from the horse's
- 26:48Speaker 3: mouth essentially, and their offers they've been presented with and
- 26:53Speaker 3: I quote from media outlets life changing offers of around
- 26:59Speaker 3: six six offers.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Oh yeah, so.
- 27:02Speaker 3: Six different rounds, six different rounds of offers. However, if
- 27:06Speaker 3: they don't reach an agreement within the next four months,
- 27:10Speaker 3: it's done, it's scrapped, and the Riots go back to Mattel.
- 27:14Speaker 3: But because Greta basically wrote and built the entire world
- 27:19Speaker 3: of the first movie, if the rights of Like the
- 27:22Speaker 3: Barbie Movie go back, they actually can't use her work
- 27:25Speaker 3: anymore and they're gonna have to start from complete scratch,
- 27:30Speaker 3: which is very interesting and I very much love this, Like,
- 27:34Speaker 3: and by love, I'm being sarcastic. Is this rhetoric had
- 27:37Speaker 3: been like they've been offered life changing money. It's like, oh,
- 27:40Speaker 3: how ungrateful, how ungrateful these women aren't. And Ryan, you know,
- 27:44Speaker 3: would put him in else he's just ken, but like
- 27:48Speaker 3: that is only not taking this money because this could
- 27:52Speaker 3: change your life. Just make the movie, just do it,
- 27:54Speaker 3: and like it's very much. I've never ever ever seen
- 27:56Speaker 3: a rhetoric like that about a male stuff. But the
- 28:01Speaker 3: part that I think is quite interesting on top of
- 28:03Speaker 3: this conversation is that Matthew McConaughey has also come out
- 28:07Speaker 3: this week right saying that the movie that he owns
- 28:11Speaker 3: earns the most money on is How to Lose a
- 28:14Speaker 3: Guy in Ten Days and that's stress work. Yeah, I'll
- 28:18Speaker 3: get out it and from the residuals, right, And that
- 28:22Speaker 3: is reportedly what the disagreement is over, because they don't
- 28:27Speaker 3: just want one big, big payout, they want the years
- 28:31Speaker 3: of earnings for what they're working on. So it's very
- 28:35Speaker 3: interesting to see how this is all coming together.
- 28:37Speaker 2: But what do you guys.
- 28:38Speaker 4: Think, Well, I'm thinking, no, you're worth I don't blame
- 28:42Speaker 4: them for turning down an offer. I also would be interested,
- 28:46Speaker 4: Like if I was in Margo Rowie's position, I'd be like, Okay,
- 28:49Speaker 4: the first one was worldwide, change the world, love it
- 28:52Speaker 4: and it was perfection, Like the movie got such brave reviews,
- 28:55Speaker 4: like it was great, And it's like, is it one
- 28:58Speaker 4: of those things where it's like, if you don't if
- 29:00Speaker 4: it ain't broke, don't fix it. Like, if I'm going
- 29:02Speaker 4: to sign on for this second movie, you've got to
- 29:04Speaker 4: be paying me a lot of money because it will
- 29:06Speaker 4: be under so much more scrutiny. Oh. Absolutely, Like it
- 29:09Speaker 4: could make or break a career. Really.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Yeah, even the first one, everyone's like, nah, nah, we
- 29:15Speaker 3: don't like, what's it going to be, Barbie, She's gonna
- 29:17Speaker 3: blah blah blah blah.
- 29:18Speaker 2: And then everyone's like, I'm so sorry.
- 29:20Speaker 3: Yeah, that was one of the best movies I've ever
- 29:22Speaker 3: seen in my entire life. Every time I cry, you
- 29:24Speaker 3: had the same opinion, didn't use out.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Yeah, And because that's the thing, it's like, they're not
- 29:28Speaker 1: only thinking about the money that they're going to make,
- 29:30Speaker 1: but the legacy of that franchise, all that film. Can
- 29:33Speaker 1: we can we prioritize that a little bit more, just
- 29:36Speaker 1: across the board, well, because I do think that it
- 29:39Speaker 1: does tarnish it a little bit if the sequel is
- 29:42Speaker 1: a bit of a flop teainer like I do. Honestly,
- 29:45Speaker 1: I definitely can still enjoy it as its own film
- 29:48Speaker 1: and I'm still going to watch the original even if
- 29:51Speaker 1: the sequel isn't as good. But I do think that
- 29:53Speaker 1: it kind of takes away from the magic of the
- 29:55Speaker 1: first one if the second one or whatever.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Follows is as good.
- 30:00Speaker 3: Because also sometimes I'm like, I feel like I've been.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Taken advantage of as like an audience member, you know
- 30:05Speaker 1: what I mean, Like you're not putting that same level
- 30:08Speaker 1: of effort or magic into it because you know, I'm
- 30:10Speaker 1: just gonna watch it and spend the money anyway.
- 30:12Speaker 4: Just put yourself in Margot Robbie's position. The press tour, Yeah,
- 30:16Speaker 4: not only filming the movie, no, not, you know, going
- 30:18Speaker 4: through all the processes like that press tour was worldwide
- 30:22Speaker 4: and crazy and all the different outfits every time they
- 30:24Speaker 4: did it, do you know what I mean? Like I
- 30:25Speaker 4: think of Cynthia and Arianna in Wicked. Oh my god,
- 30:27Speaker 4: I can't believe they made it to the end of
- 30:28Speaker 4: that press tour. We saw them every day for two years,
- 30:31Speaker 4: doing a different interview, in a different outfit, on a
- 30:33Speaker 4: different red carpet, yellow brick road wherever around the world.
- 30:36Speaker 4: Like these celebs. If I was Margo Robbie, I'd go bloody.
- 30:39Speaker 4: Oh I don't want to do another Barbie movie. The
- 30:41Speaker 4: last one almost killed me. I'm I'm you know, so
- 30:44Speaker 4: you're gonna have to pull out one hundred and fifty
- 30:45Speaker 4: million or I'm not even thinking about it, you know. Yeah.
- 30:48Speaker 3: And there's also so much behind the scenes that we
- 30:50Speaker 3: don't know about. But I have noticed so much more
- 30:52Speaker 3: that Margot Robbie is moving into so much of a
- 30:56Speaker 3: producer role like she was, Like she is executed, It
- 31:00Speaker 3: produces on so many projects that like as her good
- 31:04Speaker 3: close and personal friend. It really seems like that's where
- 31:07Speaker 3: passions are beginning to lay for her. So it's like,
- 31:11Speaker 3: I think you're right that it's more like, well is
- 31:15Speaker 3: this worth it? Like is it well one knowing your worth?
- 31:19Speaker 3: And two can I be bothered? Is this where my
- 31:22Speaker 3: passions lie? And that's such a good regardless of whether
- 31:25Speaker 3: or not your fucking Margot Robbie or like starting your
- 31:27Speaker 3: first full time job, is like is this what my
- 31:30Speaker 3: passion is? Because it truly there's so many studies that
- 31:34Speaker 3: show if, like when you start earning money for something,
- 31:38Speaker 3: your like passion for it starts diminishing a little bit,
- 31:41Speaker 3: like you can like let's, for example, let's say you're
- 31:44Speaker 3: writing a book and you're like, I love writing books.
- 31:46Speaker 3: Writing books is my passion. I love it so much.
- 31:48Speaker 3: As soon as you start earning money for it, in
- 31:50Speaker 3: your brain, psychologically you start treating it as work and
- 31:53Speaker 3: it starts feeling like work. And so why are you laughing?
- 31:56Speaker 4: It's probably why I love comedy shows so much, because
- 31:58Speaker 4: there's no fack of money in it.
- 31:59Speaker 5: Yeah, you can still have passion for these things, but
- 32:05Speaker 5: they it does go down slightly, and especially with you know,
- 32:08Speaker 5: the role that they play that's so open to critique
- 32:11Speaker 5: and public commentary.
- 32:12Speaker 3: I can imagine being like that can't be fact.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Yeah, it wouldn't ever just be about that offer for
- 32:18Speaker 1: them and the money and what's on the table there.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Because for the thing as well, is like I understand
- 32:23Speaker 1: that they're like, oh, it's life changing money. They're so
- 32:25Speaker 1: ungreat she's Margaret Robbie.
- 32:27Speaker 3: I think she's okay.
- 32:28Speaker 1: I'm like, it would be life changing money for them, really,
- 32:31Speaker 1: because how much would their life really.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Change by any amount of money at this stage. But
- 32:36Speaker 2: the thing is.
- 32:37Speaker 3: Where they're accountant but just expeculating, perspectionion, just speculating, but
- 32:42Speaker 3: also like if Barbie Too is flopped Tina that could
- 32:46Speaker 3: ruin everything is.
- 32:48Speaker 4: And I think it will be.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Yeah, where do they go?
- 32:52Speaker 4: Amazing? But like we are also in a whole different
- 32:55Speaker 4: world now, and I think less people, as we've spoke about,
- 32:59Speaker 4: have money to indulge in luxury like going to the movies.
- 33:03Speaker 4: It's something that I don't spend money on. I'm lucky
- 33:06Speaker 4: enough to get invited to the premiere. If I don't
- 33:07Speaker 4: go to the premiere, I rarely actually go and see
- 33:09Speaker 4: a movie. I think we should bring it back, by
- 33:11Speaker 4: the way, I would love to bring.
- 33:12Speaker 3: It is coming back talking about it the other day.
- 33:15Speaker 3: But it's more expensive than the true It is a
- 33:18Speaker 3: very expensive But.
- 33:19Speaker 4: I think, out of everything to do in life, it's like,
- 33:22Speaker 4: who's choosing going to the movies? Yeah, there'd be a
- 33:25Speaker 4: select few, but like I just think like if for
- 33:28Speaker 4: most of the family of four, like that's a lot
- 33:32Speaker 4: of money for like, you know, there are cheaper things
- 33:34Speaker 4: to entertain the family, is what I'm saying.
- 33:37Speaker 3: I think they're also like Greta Gerwig is such a
- 33:41Speaker 3: talent and her movies are just so beautiful that I
- 33:45Speaker 3: really respect the fact that it's lack of Well, what's
- 33:48Speaker 3: the next story to tell? That's not just up, this
- 33:51Speaker 3: did really really well, Let's make another one because people
- 33:53Speaker 3: are going to come see it. And that's obviously a
- 33:56Speaker 3: strategy of you know, Hollywood and filmmakers at the moment,
- 33:59Speaker 3: is because it's they've got this guaranteed pocket of fans
- 34:03Speaker 3: that it's like, well they'll come.
- 34:05Speaker 1: At least everyone who saw the first one is probably
- 34:08Speaker 1: going to go see the same And I think that's
- 34:10Speaker 1: why I do respect it and that they haven't just
- 34:12Speaker 1: been like, all right, well, I'll take the cash, because
- 34:15Speaker 1: as a consumer, I would much rather go see a
- 34:18Speaker 1: fresh Greta or Margo Project or Ryan rather than going
- 34:23Speaker 1: to see a rehash.
- 34:24Speaker 3: Barbie Too exactly. I really don't. I mean I'm not
- 34:28Speaker 3: a film writer, shock, but like I don't know, I
- 34:31Speaker 3: can't see where that story would go that they didn't
- 34:33Speaker 3: answer in the first you know, she's.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Not a Barbie anymore.
- 34:37Speaker 3: She's a real girl.
- 34:39Speaker 4: I think that first one was like so impactful because
- 34:43Speaker 4: it was almost like we never like it took us
- 34:45Speaker 4: that story to go, oh my god, why have we
- 34:47Speaker 4: never thought about that? Why? Like that revelation was like
- 34:49Speaker 4: almost so simple, but we'd never looked into it before.
- 34:52Speaker 3: I literally just got goosebumps thinking about it. I'm like,
- 34:54Speaker 3: I'm going to rewatch that movie this weekend.
- 35:02Speaker 4: You know, Like I'm like, like, what's what's another lesson?
- 35:05Speaker 4: And I just think, as I said, like politically, the
- 35:07Speaker 4: world is changing so fast and all the rest of
- 35:10Speaker 4: it that Like I think when Barbie came out like
- 35:12Speaker 4: or like yes, now you have people going, oh, it's
- 35:16Speaker 4: a left wit left movie, do you know what I mean?
- 35:19Speaker 4: And there'd be like more outrage about how the message
- 35:22Speaker 4: is so simple. It's very bring back glamour. Actually, I mean,
- 35:26Speaker 4: I'll take one hundred and fifty million for part two.
- 35:28Speaker 4: I'll play Ryan Reynolds.
- 35:30Speaker 3: I'll become the best rendition of I'm Just Kid. Yeah,
- 35:33Speaker 3: it would be so good. But it would be like
- 35:35Speaker 3: past size Can.
- 35:36Speaker 4: I'll be past size Can.
- 35:37Speaker 3: It would be like you'd be like in sequence and
- 35:40Speaker 3: oh no, it can't happen.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Actually bring you know what.
- 35:43Speaker 3: Will take the offer? Yeah, you can be Margot and
- 35:47Speaker 3: you can be Keen.
- 35:48Speaker 2: So yeah, Warner coming.
- 35:51Speaker 3: Well apparently it's the biggest offer. And a lot of
- 35:54Speaker 3: this information that is hitting media really sounds like the
- 35:59Speaker 3: call is coming inside the house. It's very much like
- 36:01Speaker 3: Warner Bros. Is their publicers are working over time, because
- 36:05Speaker 3: everything I'm seeing is very much like we're really trying, guys,
- 36:10Speaker 3: like we're really trying to make this happen for you
- 36:12Speaker 3: the fen.
- 36:13Speaker 4: But I'm like, but also like we like, no one
- 36:16Speaker 4: knows about how PR works, Like this could be totally
- 36:19Speaker 4: made up just to gauge interest in Barbie.
- 36:22Speaker 2: And general Oh oh my god.
- 36:24Speaker 4: That could be fears, it could be the pr angle,
- 36:27Speaker 4: Like they're just like, let's just put this out and
- 36:29Speaker 4: see how many people are or are enrage or like
- 36:33Speaker 4: if anyone cares or if this because if that story
- 36:35Speaker 4: doesn't really take traction, yeah, yeah.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Then they'll do it. But if everyone's like, no, we
- 36:39Speaker 3: don't need a Barbi two movie, and they'll be like.
- 36:41Speaker 4: Now probably, so maybe that's the whole point of the
- 36:44Speaker 4: pr Yeah.
- 36:44Speaker 3: More importantly, Margot Robbie is apparently going to be starting
- 36:47Speaker 3: a Parates of the Caribbean movie, and that I am
- 36:51Speaker 3: signed up. That's a Pirate two Caribbean franchise is one
- 36:55Speaker 3: that I'm like, well, we can just do different stories
- 36:59Speaker 3: because you can do not Pirate, you know, and I
- 37:02Speaker 3: would just love her and that give me that one
- 37:05Speaker 3: we need, just like a whole ship of like female pirates. Yes,
- 37:09Speaker 3: I want that for the next one that would that's my.
- 37:13Speaker 4: Hilarious is Kiera Nightley in primary school and everyone's like,
- 37:16Speaker 4: are you gay? I was like, no, I love Kiera
- 37:19Speaker 4: Knightley because I thought she was like obscure enough that
- 37:22Speaker 4: it be believable. It's not like your typical because everyone
- 37:27Speaker 4: else is like Ashley Tisdale and Hilary Dark and whatever,
- 37:30Speaker 4: and I was like.
- 37:31Speaker 3: Kierra Nightley, who was everyone's like by awakening as well. Yeah,
- 37:38Speaker 3: and she's like one of the ones. It's like the
- 37:40Speaker 3: Chicken stick it the movie Sticket.
- 37:44Speaker 2: Oh no, it's good, the gymnastics one.
- 37:46Speaker 4: Well, we'd have to do a whole other episode on
- 37:48Speaker 4: my childhood. But we had no We had free to
- 37:51Speaker 4: air only, and I think we didn't even have General
- 37:53Speaker 4: ten Our TV. It didn't work. There was no movies,
- 37:57Speaker 4: there was no nothing.
- 37:57Speaker 2: That explains to Kathin Kim of it all.
- 37:59Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, because it was on the abcanly.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Well, thank you so much.
- 38:04Speaker 1: That's another episode of what's the tea? All wrapped up
- 38:07Speaker 1: and good luck on the tour mat. Like we said,
- 38:09Speaker 1: we'll make sure to put link to where you can
- 38:12Speaker 1: buy tickets in the show notes and also link to
- 38:14Speaker 1: High Scrollers Matt's podcast with Britney Saunders, which is one
- 38:17Speaker 1: of our absolute faiths.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Friends of the show, Friends of the show, and thanks
- 38:22Speaker 2: to you Chick for having us in Ehles.
- 38:23Speaker 3: We love to be here. Bye.
