Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: I drove 200 miles with my car smelling like cat pee.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I'll tell you all about it here. 106.7 Light FM.
- 0:05Speaker 1: I'm being Christine, producer Kristen. I was at Virginia Beach
- 0:09Speaker 1: over the weekend. I mentioned this yesterday. And my dad
- 0:12Speaker 1: is being moved from independent living to assisted living. So
- 0:16Speaker 1: he's being downsized. He's 95 years old. God bless him.
- 0:19Speaker 1: He's hanging in there.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:21Speaker 1: But his cognitive has dropped a little bit. And unfortunately,
- 0:25Speaker 1: the building he lives in has said he probably can't
- 0:27Speaker 1: really care for his two cats anymore. And it's true.
- 0:32Speaker 1: He was forgetting to do it. And, you know, there
- 0:34Speaker 1: was a lot of issues there. Anyway, we found the
- 0:37Speaker 1: place he adopted the cats from about eight years ago
- 0:40Speaker 1: and they agreed to take them back. So we surrendered
- 0:42Speaker 1: them over the weekend. It was very tough for all
- 0:45Speaker 1: of us. But I've been getting updates from this place
- 0:48Speaker 1: called Hope for Life in Virginia, and they've already said
- 0:50Speaker 1: how they're. Very happy, and they may have a home
- 0:54Speaker 1: for them soon. Oh, that's great. You have to go
- 0:55Speaker 1: as a pair. Oh, that's great. So all's looking great there.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Yeah, uh-huh.
- 0:58Speaker 1: But one of the cats that my dad had was
- 1:01Speaker 1: very skittish, never came out, always under the bed, and
- 1:05Speaker 1: used to spray. Oh, no. Where they don't use the
- 1:09Speaker 1: litter box all the time. Oh, no. And pee wherever
- 1:11Speaker 1: they want.
- 1:12Speaker 2: And that smell.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Oh, no. It's bad.
- 1:15Speaker 2: It's bad and you can't get it out.
- 1:16Speaker 1: And I don't know how my dad lived in it.
- 1:18Speaker 1: I guess that's part of the age. He used to
- 1:19Speaker 1: be like, I don't smell anything. It was horrible. Anyway,
- 1:22Speaker 1: long story short, I agreed to take some furniture that
- 1:25Speaker 1: we really like that my dad can't use in his old,
- 1:28Speaker 1: actually in his new apartment from his old apartment. So
- 1:31Speaker 1: I agreed to take some furniture. I put it in
- 1:33Speaker 1: the car and all of a sudden we're driving and
- 1:35Speaker 1: it smells like cat pee. Oh no. Lo and behold,
- 1:38Speaker 1: some of the furniture, the legs of the furniture had
- 1:41Speaker 1: been sprayed on. So our drive from Virginia Beach to
- 1:45Speaker 1: Jersey over the weekend was that.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Oh, that's pleasant.
- 1:47Speaker 1: So then I put it in the garage temporarily. And
- 1:51Speaker 1: then last night, we have a vacation home in Pennsylvania.
- 1:54Speaker 1: And I have to go there today to check on something.
- 1:56Speaker 1: And Coco goes, my wife, she goes, why don't you
- 1:59Speaker 1: just take that piece of furniture to PA? Because that's
- 2:01Speaker 1: where it's going to end up ultimately. So it's in
- 2:03Speaker 1: my car right now. So my drive here. And I
- 2:07Speaker 1: had the AC blasting. That helped a little bit. Yeah.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Sorry to be gross early in the morning, but that's
- 2:13Speaker 1: what I'm up against here.
- 2:14Speaker 2: That's a really hard odor to remove.
- 2:18Speaker 1: And a hard problem to fix.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:21Speaker 1: I think he tried to do something to break the
- 2:23Speaker 1: habit of spring, but that cat just always did it
- 2:27Speaker 1: and would be in the middle of the house and
- 2:29Speaker 1: just in the corner or on furniture. Yikes. Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:34Speaker 1: That's a bad smell. If you could tell me how
- 2:37Speaker 1: to get it out, I mean, I know there's like OxyClean. Yeah.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Does anybody have success on spraying something on furniture and
- 2:46Speaker 1: getting that smell out? If you could text 44363, you
- 2:49Speaker 1: could help me.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely. We'll try and find something for you. Well,
- 2:53Speaker 2: I'm glad Archie, my cat, is okay. We should do
- 2:57Speaker 2: a cat podcast. We need to do a cat podcast
- 2:59Speaker 2: because Eric left the house. He, you know, travels in
- 3:02Speaker 2: the middle of the night because it's easier for him
- 3:04Speaker 2: with his drummer schedule, right? So he left late last night.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Good thing I get up at like three o'clock in
- 3:09Speaker 2: the morning because Eric, for whatever reason, closed the bathroom
- 3:14Speaker 2: door that is like the boys' bathroom. That's where Archie's
- 3:17Speaker 2: litter box is.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Oh, so he just closed it. No way Archie can
- 3:21Speaker 1: get in.
- 3:24Speaker 2: But there's no way he could have worked his way
- 3:26Speaker 2: into there. So I'm glad I was up early because, yeah,
- 3:30Speaker 2: I know.
- 3:30Speaker 1: I was going to say, did Archie make a mistake somewhere?
- 3:32Speaker 2: No, no, no, he didn't. But I don't want him
- 3:34Speaker 2: to get into that habit.
- 3:35Speaker 1: I picture him in front of the door pacing, you know,
- 3:36Speaker 1: like when you're waiting for a restaurant.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Okay, now would be good. Open the door. Oh, and
- 3:41Speaker 2: another quick thing, Cubby. You recommended like Cat TV for
- 3:45Speaker 2: Archie so he could see squirrels and birds.
- 3:47Speaker 1: If you go to YouTube, you can type in all
- 3:49Speaker 1: kinds of.
- 3:50Speaker 2: It has gone so wrong for us.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Oh, you've done it.
- 3:52Speaker 2: We have a problem. We have a serious, serious problem.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Archie is addicted. And he is cut off because he
- 4:00Speaker 2: literally tried to jump through the TV.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Oh, they'll do that?
- 4:04Speaker 2: Yeah, but he could get hurt. It's so high. We
- 4:08Speaker 2: were really scared. He jumped up really high, scratched the TV,
- 4:11Speaker 2: and then fell and then did it twice before he
- 4:15Speaker 2: could get up to turn off the TV. And now
- 4:18Speaker 2: he just sits and gazes upon the TV like, Surely
- 4:23Speaker 2: they'll come back. And if we put the TV on
- 4:25Speaker 2: just to watch the news or a show, whatever it is,
- 4:27Speaker 2: he just sits there and watches with us. And it's like,
- 4:30Speaker 2: they're not coming back.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Right.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Like you've been cut off.
- 4:32Speaker 1: You're not going to go to YouTube and put a
- 4:34Speaker 1: squirrel video on ever again.
- 4:35Speaker 2: I can't. You can't handle it.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Right, right, right.
- 4:37Speaker 2: But the poor guy. Now we have a TV addiction.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I love it.
- 4:41Speaker 2: So we have to fix that.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Well, you know, open the window shades if you can.
- 4:44Speaker 1: As you know, that's another TV for a cat. Yeah.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Just looking out the windows watching TV for them. Mm-hmm.
- 4:49Speaker 1: All right, we have Sting concert tickets coming up at
- 4:52Speaker 1: 7.25 this morning. Teddy swims at 8.10. And we have you.
- 4:55Speaker 1: 106.7 Light FM. Thanks for having us on.
- 4:58Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Okay.
- 5:04Speaker 2: I need to tell you two things.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Cubby and Christine's.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Two pretty cool things.
- 5:11Speaker 1: How cool is this? The Girl Scouts will launch two
- 5:13Speaker 1: new cookies for the 2027 season, including one for dogs. Uh-huh.
- 5:18Speaker 1: The dog treat is called Patch Pals and was developed
- 5:21Speaker 1: with the dog subscription box company Bark. It's described as
- 5:25Speaker 1: a soft-baked blueberry muffin-flavored treat. Now, for humans, there will
- 5:30Speaker 1: be a new allergy-friendly cookie called Sparkables, created with allergy-friendly
- 5:35Speaker 1: brand Partake. And it's an oatmeal cookie with chocolate chips
- 5:41Speaker 1: that avoids the major food allergens like peanuts, eggs, and milk.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I know you're allergic to eggs, Christine.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Well, it all sounds good.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Yeah. Both new treats will be available online beginning January 12th.
- 5:52Speaker 1: So we're talking 2027.
- 5:53Speaker 2: We have some time. Doggies, hang in there.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Hang in there, dogs. It's coming. What do you have, Christine?
- 5:59Speaker 2: This is really cool casting news on Broadway. Sherri Shepherd
- 6:03Speaker 2: will be making Broadway history. She's joining the cast of
- 6:06Speaker 2: Disney's Aladdin as the genie, the first woman to ever
- 6:10Speaker 2: play this iconic role.
- 6:12Speaker 1: That's very cool.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Congratulations to her. She'll have a limited run. It's at
- 6:16Speaker 2: the New Amsterdam Theatre, October 16th through January 3rd of 2027.
- 6:21Speaker 2: And right now, Sherri Shepherd is preparing, taking dance lessons
- 6:25Speaker 2: from When I Understand and singing, and I'm sure really
- 6:27Speaker 2: excited about the role. She has been on Broadway once before.
- 6:31Speaker 2: She did play the evil stepmother. in Cinderella some years ago,
- 6:35Speaker 2: but she's returning to Broadway as the genie.
- 6:37Speaker 1: I remember the Cinderella thing, and actually she used to
- 6:40Speaker 1: call us when I used to work at KTU.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:43Speaker 1: She was, her and her son Jeffrey were big fans
- 6:46Speaker 1: of the radio station, and I believe Sherri Shepherd switched
- 6:48Speaker 1: over to us. So Sherri Shepherd, if you're tuned in
- 6:51Speaker 1: right now, we appreciate you.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Oh, that's so great and congratulations. How exciting.
- 6:55Speaker 1: More variety from the 80s through today coming up next.
- 6:58Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine and the great music variety you
- 7:00Speaker 3: expect next on Light FM.
- 7:02Speaker 1: The best frozen pizza. Where can you find it? 106.7
- 7:06Speaker 1: Light FM, Cubby and Christine, producer Kristen. I gotta tell you,
- 7:08Speaker 1: speaking of frozen pizza here, there is some good frozen
- 7:12Speaker 1: pizza and we had it last night actually i don't
- 7:14Speaker 1: remember i don't remember the brand but we're trying so
- 7:17Speaker 1: we just did a pizza night last night i yeah
- 7:19Speaker 1: coco was tired i was tired you know we've been
- 7:21Speaker 1: trying to have the kids eat a little bit healthier
- 7:24Speaker 1: but yesterday we're like we're getting pizza and she picked
- 7:26Speaker 1: up pizza and i forgot where it is and but
- 7:29Speaker 1: they loved it yeah so you have a list here
- 7:31Speaker 1: of some of the best frozen pizza.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Right people were asked what's their favorite frozen pizza and
- 7:36Speaker 2: I don't know what it is about frozen pizza Cubby
- 7:38Speaker 2: but I find it a comfort food too like a
- 7:41Speaker 2: lot of times if I make it Eric's like this
- 7:43Speaker 2: is what we're having for dinner I'm like yeah and
- 7:47Speaker 2: then he's like oh it's actually really good it is
- 7:50Speaker 2: I promise you can put a little salad on the
- 7:52Speaker 2: side make yourself feel better so DiGiorno comes in first
- 7:56Speaker 2: place as our favorite frozen pizza people say that tastes
- 8:00Speaker 2: the best here's the one that we bring home Newman's
- 8:03Speaker 2: Own Okay, I don't.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Know if I've had it.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Oh, it's really good.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Is it a Paul Newman thing, like the salad dressing?
- 8:09Speaker 2: Yeah, like the salad dressing.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Wow.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Really good pizza. They do thin crust. They do cauliflower crust.
- 8:14Speaker 2: It's really good. Red Baron pizza.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Oh.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Red Baron's good. Sorry.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Is it?
- 8:19Speaker 2: I haven't had that one. Amy's. We have that one.
- 8:21Speaker 2: That one's really good, too. And Tombstone.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Tombstone's good, too.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Those are our top five. favorites according to a nationwide
- 8:30Speaker 2: very crucial frozen pizza.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Survey now some people may text in and say why
- 8:34Speaker 1: do you have to do a frozen pizza when we
- 8:36Speaker 1: live in the pizza capital.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Of the world this area but there are times you're
- 8:39Speaker 2: in a pinch you're exactly you don't want to go
- 8:41Speaker 2: out you don't want to go out and it's right
- 8:43Speaker 2: there i have it in the freezer as a standby.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Right um you ever had tree tavern.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Tree tavern pizza was like an old.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Classic yeah one of uh One of the famous New
- 8:52Speaker 1: Jersey ones, I think.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Is that still around?
- 8:55Speaker 1: I'm looking it up right now.
- 8:56Speaker 2: I always ask these questions.
- 8:57Speaker 1: It says, yes, it says famous and enduring local frozen
- 9:02Speaker 1: pizza brands known for its distinct square cut, thin crust,
- 9:06Speaker 1: and nostalgic status. Still available in local supermarkets. Oh, wow.
- 9:11Speaker 2: There was a pizza back in the day called Selentano
- 9:16Speaker 2: that was a square pizza. It was so good.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I know that.
- 9:20Speaker 2: You do know it?
- 9:20Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Very big font, cursive letters.
- 9:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:25Speaker 1: That's how I remember the box.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Oh, wow. That was really good. Did you ever have
- 9:29Speaker 2: like when you were a kid, Elio's? Because they make
- 9:32Speaker 2: like the little.
- 9:33Speaker 1: The only thing Miles will eat pretty much. Yeah.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Because you don't have to make a whole pie.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Right. Right.
- 9:37Speaker 2: You can make a few pieces. I'm thinking of all
- 9:39Speaker 2: these great, like now I want it.
- 9:41Speaker 1: And pizza is the food that we would eat no
- 9:43Speaker 1: matter what time of day.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Give us a text. Frozen pizza. What's your favorite? 44363.
- 9:50Speaker 1: We're hungry, and we want to hear from you. 106.7
- 9:53Speaker 1: Light FM. Hey, don't forget, three hours commercial free. That
- 9:56Speaker 1: kicks off at 820.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Mort Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 10:03Speaker 1: You were telling me, Christine, we were getting a lot
- 10:05Speaker 1: of texts, more than you thought. Yeah. On frozen pizza. Yes.
- 10:08Speaker 1: The best frozen pizza. We were having a conversation about
- 10:11Speaker 1: that a moment ago.
- 10:12Speaker 2: We do the hard-hitting topics around here.
- 10:14Speaker 1: We really do. Yes, we do. We dive in deep.
- 10:17Speaker 2: So, yeah, DiGiorno was named the best tasting frozen pizza
- 10:21Speaker 2: on this nationwide list. And we said, well, what's your favorite? 44363.
- 10:26Speaker 2: And we've got some good ones here, Cubby. Are we ready?
- 10:29Speaker 1: Let's hear it.
- 10:30Speaker 2: We have a new frozen pizza, new to me. It's
- 10:32Speaker 2: called Screaming Sicilian from 917. We have 914 telling us, yes,
- 10:38Speaker 2: Tree Tavern frozen pizzas still exist.
- 10:41Speaker 1: And it's a New Jersey thing, right?
- 10:42Speaker 2: It's a Jersey thing.
- 10:43Speaker 1: You might be able to find it in your frozen
- 10:45Speaker 1: food section outside of Jersey, but I'm pretty sure it's
- 10:48Speaker 1: Jersey only.
- 10:49Speaker 2: And this person says there's a new frozen pizza called
- 10:51Speaker 2: DeFara frozen pizza that they want to try. They haven't
- 10:54Speaker 2: tried it yet. But yeah, quite a few votes here
- 10:57Speaker 2: for Tavern Pizza, especially from Jersey people. They say they
- 11:00Speaker 2: had it as kids and continue to enjoy it. So
- 11:02Speaker 2: there's that comfort. Lots of votes for Stouffer's. French bread pizza.
- 11:07Speaker 1: There's a name that's been around.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Yeah. Forgot about that one. That one's good. Let's see.
- 11:13Speaker 2: 775 Whole Foods. It's in the take and bake section. Yeah,
- 11:16Speaker 2: that's those are good. Stu Leonard's has a real good
- 11:19Speaker 2: one like that, too.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Trader Joe's also has a good one.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Trader Joe's. 917 says Trader Joe's has the best frozen
- 11:25Speaker 2: pizza with the best ingredients. I'm Bronx born and raised
- 11:28Speaker 2: Gen X. Danny from Westchester. Thank you, Danny.
- 11:31Speaker 1: I love how we haven't found one bad frozen pizza.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 11:34Speaker 1: I don't know if we're just hungry.
- 11:35Speaker 2: We love our frozen pizzas.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Newman's Zone's been mentioned before, right? You mentioned that earlier.
- 11:39Speaker 2: That was mine, and that's on the list. 973 said Newman's.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Let's see. The Little Round Pizza's from Costco. Half the
- 11:47Speaker 2: box is plain. Half is pepperoni. I think the brand
- 11:50Speaker 2: is Sparrow's.
- 11:51Speaker 1: 100%.
- 11:51Speaker 2: My grandkids love them.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Or it might be a Kirkland, too. I think Costco
- 11:55Speaker 1: might have a couple.
- 11:56Speaker 2: There's a.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Yes.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Yes.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Someone else's 914 Good Morning Costco has a really good
- 12:02Speaker 2: frozen pizza Kirkland brand. It's about a little over $ 11
- 12:05Speaker 2: and has a few pizzas in the box and is
- 12:07Speaker 2: really good.
- 12:08Speaker 1: ShopRite apparently has a good just flat out cheese pizza. Yum.
- 12:12Speaker 1: From what I'm reading too.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Okay.
- 12:15Speaker 1: But thank you for keeping up with all those text messages.
- 12:17Speaker 1: I know it's tough because they're coming at you really fast.
- 12:19Speaker 2: They're coming in fast and furious and it's all frozen pizza.
- 12:21Speaker 2: We love it. Hydrant Pizza. It's family owned from Wisconsin.
- 12:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:25Speaker 2: And back to Tree Tavern Pizza that you can get
- 12:27Speaker 2: it in New York.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:28Speaker 2: So thank you.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Again, pizza.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:32Speaker 1: 6.53 a.m., 3.30 a.m., 4 p.m. We'll take it. I'll
- 12:36Speaker 1: eat it anytime.
- 12:37Speaker 2: That's right.
- 12:37Speaker 1: All right, you got the headlines coming up, and what else?
- 12:40Speaker 2: Well, what do we love about football season?
- 12:43Speaker 1: Oh, and that reminds me. Survivor Pool. We'll talk about
- 12:45Speaker 1: that coming up. Hang on.
- 12:46Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 12:52Speaker 1: 6.59, hump day already. September the 9th. Christine has everything
- 12:55Speaker 1: you need to know. Good morning, Christine. Good morning.
- 12:57Speaker 2: And good morning, Cubby. So Mayor Mamdani has released some
- 13:01Speaker 2: 170,000 documents that he says show people got sick because
- 13:05Speaker 2: the government lied about the air condition after the September
- 13:10Speaker 2: 11th attacks. These new documents appear to show New Yorkers
- 13:13Speaker 2: were misled about air quality in lower Manhattan after the attacks.
- 13:19Speaker 2: And Iran says it has captured a U.S. submarine drone
- 13:24Speaker 2: in the Strait of Hormuz, the vessel ID'd as a
- 13:26Speaker 2: dive LD. It's a submersible that can counteract mines and
- 13:30Speaker 2: gather intelligence, among other missions. TSA is now allowing non-ticket
- 13:36Speaker 2: visitors to the gates at several airports in the U.S.,
- 13:39Speaker 2: and hopefully we'll see this expanding. You do have to
- 13:42Speaker 2: make sure that you register a few days in advance,
- 13:45Speaker 2: that you'd like to pick up a friend or relative
- 13:48Speaker 2: at the airport, But at least we're starting to see
- 13:50Speaker 2: that happen once again. And Apple is preparing to roll
- 13:53Speaker 2: out new devices today. They call it Surprise and Shine.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Expected to feature the long-awaited debut of a foldable iPhone.
- 14:02Speaker 2: In sports, baseball, the Mets beat the Marlins 7-5. Yankees
- 14:05Speaker 2: defeated the Rockies 5-3. NFL season starts tonight. Patriots will
- 14:10Speaker 2: play the Seahawks 8-20. So what's the best thing about
- 14:13Speaker 2: football starting up again? Do we even have to ask?
- 14:16Speaker 1: I mean, where do I start? Well, hope.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Spring's eternal. Fresh season, Sunday games, cooler weather, football, food, rivalries,
- 14:25Speaker 2: and suddenly the weekend has a rhythm again. And for
- 14:27Speaker 2: about the first three weeks, you can convince yourself that
- 14:30Speaker 2: your team might actually be good this year.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Yeah, as a Jet fan, I am pumped right now.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 14:35Speaker 1: We're undefeated.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that's very true. You keep that streak going.
- 14:39Speaker 1: And we're going to do something we did last year, Christine.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Coming up at 8-10, we're going to do our football
- 14:44Speaker 1: survivor pool.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Oh, good.
- 14:46Speaker 1: It requires you to pick one NFL team each week.
- 14:50Speaker 1: They have to win outright, and you cannot pick that
- 14:53Speaker 1: team again throughout the rest of the season.
- 14:55Speaker 2: It must be strategic.
- 14:56Speaker 1: And last year, I was in last place among that show. Yeah.
- 15:00Speaker 1: You came in second.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Yeah, producer Kristen is awesome with this.
- 15:03Speaker 1: She won the whole thing.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:05Speaker 1: She has spreadsheets on it. She does a PowerPoint on it.
- 15:08Speaker 2: She knows her stuff.
- 15:08Speaker 1: She does her research.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:09Speaker 1: All right, that's coming up at 8.10. We'll do our pick.
- 15:12Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Hey, it's Cubby, and I'm happy because I live in
- 15:18Speaker 1: New Jersey. Yeah. Apparently that's true, right? You too, Christine. Thrilled.
- 15:23Speaker 1: You too, Kristen. Yes. The happiest states. This is mind-boggling
- 15:27Speaker 1: to me. It's 106.7 Light FM, and I'm not trying
- 15:29Speaker 1: to poo-poo on New Jersey. I do love living in
- 15:31Speaker 1: New Jersey. I've lived in New Jersey for 30 years.
- 15:34Speaker 1: It's a fine, fine state. Just didn't think it'd be
- 15:37Speaker 1: this high.
- 15:38Speaker 2: As the happiest state in the country.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Happiest state in the country.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Number two.
- 15:42Speaker 1: That's amazing.
- 15:43Speaker 2: New Jersey.
- 15:44Speaker 1: And what's number one? Hawaii. Hawaii.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Which makes sense to me.
- 15:49Speaker 1: That does make sense. Are you sure you don't have
- 15:51Speaker 1: this list upside down?
- 15:52Speaker 2: You know.
- 15:53Speaker 1: So you go from Hawaii. Yay, we're happy.
- 15:56Speaker 2: To New Jersey.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Yay, we're happy.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Just as happy.
- 15:59Speaker 1: That's amazing. Now, I don't want to put you on
- 16:01Speaker 1: the spot, but does this article say why we're happy?
- 16:05Speaker 2: Yeah. WalletHub did this annual ranking of the happiest states
- 16:08Speaker 2: in the U.S. They base it on emotional and physical well-being,
- 16:12Speaker 2: work environment, community. The environment itself, whether people are in
- 16:19Speaker 2: happy relationships, and apparently we're doing okay in New Jersey.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Like we're checking off all those boxes. That's amazing. Now
- 16:26Speaker 1: let's talk about taxes in New Jersey. Where are we
- 16:28Speaker 1: right now?
- 16:29Speaker 2: Yeah. So again, how we're number two. So yeah, number
- 16:33Speaker 2: one is Hawaii, New Jersey. Then it's followed by Utah, Idaho, Maryland, Nebraska, Connecticut, Minnesota, California,
- 16:42Speaker 2: New Hampshire. And then coming in at number 11, which
- 16:44Speaker 2: really isn't too bad if you think about it, is
- 16:46Speaker 2: New York.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Wow. Wow.
- 16:48Speaker 2: But Jersey, peeps, we're up there at number two.
- 16:52Speaker 1: And you're happy, right? You live in North Jersey?
- 16:54Speaker 2: The love and joy I have for New Jersey. Born
- 16:58Speaker 2: and raised.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Does that have the whole list, by the way, or no?
- 17:03Speaker 1: If not, it's no big deal. I'm just curious who's last.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Oh, who was last?
- 17:08Speaker 1: That's okay.
- 17:09Speaker 2: I always feel bad having to say it. But maybe
- 17:12Speaker 2: they're not listening this morning.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Oh, you do have it?
- 17:13Speaker 2: I do have it.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Please tell me, I beg.
- 17:15Speaker 2: It's West Virginia.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Oh, poor West Virginia.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Louisiana came in number 49. And you love New Orleans.
- 17:22Speaker 2: New Orleans.
- 17:23Speaker 1: I wonder if weather plays a factor in that.
- 17:24Speaker 2: That's what I think, right?
- 17:26Speaker 1: But poor West Virginia.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Yeah, West Virginia came in last.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Where the state flower is a satellite dish. That was back,
- 17:36Speaker 1: that was an old joke because, you know, when satellite dishes,
- 17:38Speaker 1: you know, cable wasn't around everywhere.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:40Speaker 1: So you could get it if you had a satellite
- 17:42Speaker 1: dish and everyone had a satellite dish in West Virginia.
- 17:43Speaker 1: That was the only way to get it. Because there
- 17:44Speaker 1: was no cable. But I think they now have cable
- 17:46Speaker 1: and internet there at West Virginia. Yeah.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Working telephones. Right. Yeah. All of it.
- 17:51Speaker 3: All right.
- 17:52Speaker 1: We got Sting concert tickets coming up. We'll do that
- 17:55Speaker 1: around 725 and we'll begin another trivia battle here. On
- 17:59Speaker 1: Light FM.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Mort Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Covey and Christine, producer Kristen hanging out. And we were
- 18:07Speaker 1: talking a moment ago about how New Jersey is number
- 18:10Speaker 1: two in ranking of the happiest states in America.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Right behind Hawaii.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Hawaii number one.
- 18:15Speaker 2: We're so similar.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Yeah, that's amazing. But somebody in New Jersey not too
- 18:20Speaker 1: happy about a particular psychic.
- 18:22Speaker 2: This is true. So there is a lawsuit filed in
- 18:25Speaker 2: Bergen County where a Paramus psychic... is accused of telling
- 18:29Speaker 2: a woman that her late husband was cursed and his
- 18:32Speaker 2: spirit needed cleansing for $ 78, 000. So Marisol Meza claims she
- 18:39Speaker 2: ended up giving the psychic $ 78, 500 along with personal belongings.
- 18:47Speaker 2: And the psychic is Holly Stanley of Psychic Readings by Holly,
- 18:50Speaker 2: told her the money that she inherited from her husband's
- 18:53Speaker 2: death was also cursed and would infect her, and so
- 18:55Speaker 2: she needed that too.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Wow.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Like another $ 52, 000. And that's when Marisol said, this doesn't
- 19:01Speaker 2: feel right. And ended up calling the police. The psychic's
- 19:05Speaker 2: attorney sent News 12 a statement. News 12 New Jersey
- 19:08Speaker 2: is looking into this, saying the case has no merit.
- 19:11Speaker 2: They look forward to responding.
- 19:14Speaker 1: I don't know if they have a case, man. I
- 19:15Speaker 1: feel bad for the woman. You know, $ 78, 000 gone.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:20Speaker 1: But I don't think they have a case. Somewhere in
- 19:22Speaker 1: the small print. I'm sure it says if you're, you know,
- 19:26Speaker 1: entertainment purposes only, if you walk into a psychic, you
- 19:31Speaker 1: have to know. I don't know.
- 19:32Speaker 2: I don't know. I feel bad for this lady, right?
- 19:34Speaker 1: But I feel bad for the lady at the end
- 19:35Speaker 1: of the day.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Yeah, because I'm sure she's in mourning for her husband
- 19:37Speaker 2: and then being told that, you know, you're at a
- 19:39Speaker 2: really vulnerable point.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 19:41Speaker 3: All right.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Well, good luck to her. And I guess if that
- 19:46Speaker 1: psychic is really good, she'll know the outcome of this
- 19:48Speaker 1: particular case.
- 19:48Speaker 2: She knows what's about to happen.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Yes. All right. Let's open the phones right now. We
- 19:53Speaker 1: have Sting tickets and we want to give them to you,
- 19:55Speaker 1: but you have to know your pop culture. We're going
- 19:57Speaker 1: to do a trivia battle right now. We need two people. 1-800-222-1067. Yes.
- 20:01Speaker 2: And the details. Sting's 3.0 tour, one of his six
- 20:05Speaker 2: shows coming to Brooklyn Paramount this November. You can choose
- 20:08Speaker 2: Tickets available now at Ticketmaster.com or, as Cubby said, you
- 20:11Speaker 2: give us a call.
- 20:12Speaker 1: All right, you're going to go at it. Two people,
- 20:14Speaker 1: call now.
- 20:15Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 20:20Speaker 1: You pretty good at trivia?
- 20:22Speaker 2: Light FM's Trivia Battle.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Well, Christine, can you believe it? It's already hump day.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Feels like a Tuesday. Yes, it's good.
- 20:28Speaker 2: We're moving along.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Wednesday edition of a Trivia Battle. And we have Kim
- 20:32Speaker 1: from Morris Plains who lost yesterday. But you know how
- 20:36Speaker 1: we always say, you know, play again.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Yep.
- 20:38Speaker 1: So, Kim, you're playing again. You're on Team Cubby. Good morning, Kim.
- 20:41Speaker 1: How are you? I'm great.
- 20:42Speaker 2: How are you?
- 20:43Speaker 1: We're doing good. We hope you bring home a victory today.
- 20:47Speaker 1: And who's her competition?
- 20:48Speaker 2: Paul in Eastchester. Good morning, Paul.
- 20:51Speaker 3: Hi.
- 20:52Speaker 1: How are you guys?
- 20:52Speaker 2: We're doing great. Thanks. What are you doing today?
- 20:57Speaker 1: Just going to get some sunshine today.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Oh, that sounds nice.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Well, you'll get plenty of it. Sunshine today, high 85. Beautiful.
- 21:04Speaker 1: How about that for tying in the weather in the
- 21:05Speaker 1: trivia battle? Okay, here we go, guys. Kim, you're going
- 21:08Speaker 1: to get three questions. Paul, you'll get three questions. Best
- 21:12Speaker 1: out of three wins those steam tickets. Here we go, Kim.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Question number one. Do you know September's birthstone? Is it A, ruby, B, sapphire,
- 21:23Speaker 1: or C, pearl? Sapphire. You are correct. And Kim is
- 21:29Speaker 1: on the board 1-0.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Okay, Paul. It's National Teddy Bear Day. What is the
- 21:34Speaker 2: tummy symbol of Cheer Bear? Is it A, a colorful rainbow, B,
- 21:39Speaker 2: a sun, C, a heart?
- 21:45Speaker 1: I think it is a heart.
- 21:48Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Paul. It's a colorful rainbow.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Over to Kim. Can she take a 2-0 lead? We
- 21:54Speaker 1: shall see. Kim, can you tell me the name of
- 21:57Speaker 1: Nicole Scherzinger's old girl group? Is it A, Little Mix, B,
- 22:02Speaker 1: Fifth Harmony, or C, Pussycat Dolls?
- 22:05Speaker 2: Pussycat Dolls.
- 22:07Speaker 1: And Kim with a 2-0 lead.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Paul, here we go. Singer Ciara just announced she's pregnant
- 22:12Speaker 2: with baby number five. What NFL player is she married to? A,
- 22:16Speaker 2: Josh Allen, B, Russell Wilson, C, Patrick Mahomes. A. A,
- 22:23Speaker 2: Josh Allen. A.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Nope.
- 22:26Speaker 2: I'm sorry. It's B, Russell Wilson, which I think wraps
- 22:30Speaker 2: up the game.
- 22:31Speaker 1: That was pretty fast. Kim takes it. Paul, we have
- 22:33Speaker 1: to let you go. Thank you for playing. All right. Thanks.
- 22:36Speaker 3: It was just like last time.
- 22:37Speaker 1: The exact same thing. I can't get one right.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Oh, Paul, we'll try again. Third time's a charm.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Yep. Yeah. That's right. All right. Take care, guys.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Thank you. Have a good day. Kim, congratulations. You did it.
- 22:49Speaker 2: You're going to see Sting's 3.0 tour, one of six
- 22:52Speaker 2: shows coming to Brooklyn Paramount in November.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Yay!
- 22:58Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine and the great music variety you
- 23:01Speaker 3: expect next on Light FM.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen, just the three of us and
- 23:06Speaker 1: another season upon us. NFL football season kicking off tonight.
- 23:10Speaker 1: And we are going to do another Survivor Pool here
- 23:14Speaker 1: amongst our show with a new person playing, by the way.
- 23:17Speaker 1: I'll explain that in just a second. But for those
- 23:20Speaker 1: that don't know, an NFL Survivor Pool is a popular
- 23:22Speaker 1: contest that where you pick one team to win its
- 23:25Speaker 1: game outright each week, and a single loss eliminates you
- 23:30Speaker 1: from the competition.
- 23:31Speaker 2: But we do best of three.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Actually, we're lowering it this year. What? You get two misses.
- 23:37Speaker 2: I only get two misses?
- 23:38Speaker 1: You get two misses. And don't be complaining because you
- 23:40Speaker 1: came in second place. I came in third. I should
- 23:42Speaker 1: be the one complaining. Oh, okay. You did pretty good
- 23:45Speaker 1: last year. Kristen won the whole thing.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Yeah, of course.
- 23:47Speaker 1: But she was the last person standing.
- 23:49Speaker 2: She knows her stuff, yeah.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Yeah, but what do you think? You can miss two.
- 23:53Speaker 1: I think that's pretty good.
- 23:55Speaker 2: I like three better, but okay.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Okay. And Victor Sosa... who does the overnight shift here
- 24:00Speaker 1: at Light FM. We see him every morning on the
- 24:02Speaker 1: big changeover.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Yes.
- 24:03Speaker 1: He wants to play this year. Okay. So he has
- 24:05Speaker 1: given his pick as well.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Okay.
- 24:07Speaker 1: So here we go.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Putting Victor into the mix.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Got it. Week one. Yes, sir. Survivor pool. Christine, who
- 24:13Speaker 1: are you going with? And don't forget, you can only
- 24:16Speaker 1: pick that team one time this year. All right?
- 24:19Speaker 2: I know. And I hate to lose them after this
- 24:21Speaker 2: because they're beautiful animals. I'm going to pick the Jaguars
- 24:25Speaker 2: over the Browns.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Not a bad pick.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 24:29Speaker 1: That's a good pick. I know you like animals.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Well, that's my strategy. I go by the animal usually.
- 24:34Speaker 1: And Victor Sosa. Yeah? He picked Jags as well. Now,
- 24:37Speaker 1: that's another thing that I want to tell you about
- 24:39Speaker 1: for those that don't know the rules. It's okay to
- 24:41Speaker 1: pick the same team.
- 24:42Speaker 3: Okay.
- 24:42Speaker 1: In fact, I could pick the Jags right now.
- 24:45Speaker 2: And are you? No.
- 24:46Speaker 1: No. I'm going to go. You ready for this? Producer
- 24:48Speaker 1: Kristen says I'm silly for doing this because I should
- 24:51Speaker 1: save this team. I'm going Detroit Lions over the New
- 24:56Speaker 1: Orleans Saints. Oh, my. Okay. Like, I know they're going
- 25:00Speaker 1: to win. There's no question about it. Yeah. But I
- 25:02Speaker 1: might need Detroit.
- 25:03Speaker 2: You're going to need them down the road.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Later in the season. But I'm taking them now.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Old choice, Cubby.
- 25:07Speaker 1: I know. I know. And producer Kristen, who's not allowed
- 25:11Speaker 1: to talk. That's another meeting we have to have.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Who did she pick?
- 25:17Speaker 2: Kristen has chosen the Chargers over the Cardinals.
- 25:22Speaker 1: The champion of last year, by the way, Kristen. has
- 25:25Speaker 1: chosen Chargers over the Cardinals.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Whatever Kristen does, I would follow that.
- 25:30Speaker 1: I would do that. So those are our picks. Did
- 25:33Speaker 1: I get everything right? Did I throw it all out there? Okay,
- 25:35Speaker 1: those are the rules. Everything's good to go. And are
- 25:38Speaker 1: we playing for anything this year? Oh, I forgot. I
- 25:41Speaker 1: don't think I followed through last year because I was
- 25:42Speaker 1: the big loser. Did I buy coffee or breakfast?
- 25:45Speaker 2: It was breakfast.
- 25:45Speaker 1: I did buy breakfast.
- 25:46Speaker 2: All right.
- 25:47Speaker 1: I forgot when, but I did buy something.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Yeah, the first out breakfast for the group.
- 25:52Speaker 1: For the group.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Okay.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Okay.
- 25:53Speaker 2: We'll continue with breakfast until the last man is standing.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Right.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Which includes Kristen and me.
- 25:58Speaker 1: We get two whiffs. Don't forget. So we're allowed to
- 26:01Speaker 1: mess up twice.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:02Speaker 1: So we make it a little bit easier for us.
- 26:04Speaker 1: All right. With that said, enjoy your football this weekend.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Enjoy your football tonight. Enjoy Teddy Swim's in concert if
- 26:10Speaker 1: you call her number 10.
- 26:11Speaker 2: That's right. He is going to be at the Barclays
- 26:13Speaker 2: Center on Friday, October 2nd. Tickets available now at Ticketmaster.com
- 26:18Speaker 2: or you can give us the football champions... A call.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Right.
- 26:22Speaker 2: 1-800-222-1067.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Good luck.
