- 0:05Don Armstrong: And welcome to the In Wheel Time Car Talk Show just ahead.
- 0:08Don Armstrong: Recalls and what the auction car sold for.
- 0:12Don Armstrong: Jeff has a story about everything WD 40 can do for your home and your car.
- 0:18Jeff Dziekan: No home, just car.
- 0:21Don Armstrong: Well, then you you can extrapolate many of the things for the car to the home.
- 0:25Jeff Dziekan: Well, yeah.
- 0:26Jeff Dziekan: And and for personal hygiene dues.
- 0:30Mike Marrs: Huh.
- 0:31Jeff Dziekan: If you think about that for a minute.
- 0:33Mike Marrs: Yeah, if you're into extrapolating, go ahead on.
- 0:39Don Armstrong: I don't think we want to go off under that direction.
- 0:41Don Armstrong: We could use it because it'll become an R-rated show rather quickly.
- 0:45Jeff Dziekan: Well, if you get stuff on your fingers, like if you get grease or tar or rubber on your fingers, or on, you know, we're gonna get that off your with the WD.
- 0:52Jeff Dziekan: It works.
- 0:53Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 0:54Don Armstrong: Well, we're gonna delve into all of that.
- 0:57Don Armstrong: Howdy, along with Mike Out of this World Mars.
- 0:59Don Armstrong: We always need more Jeff Zeke and Chief Engineer David Ainsley.
- 1:02Don Armstrong: I'm Don Armstrong.
- 1:03Don Armstrong: Thanks so much for joining us today.
- 1:06Don Armstrong: Uh, we appreciate you.
- 1:08Don Armstrong: And uh let's start off this segment with the recalls.
- 1:11Don Armstrong: We mentioned that during our news segment.
- 1:14Don Armstrong: Um, they're not that's not in this because they've already been recalled and they're in trouble again.
- 1:20Don Armstrong: Anyway, low beam headlights may be too bright on the Tesla Model 3 and the Tesla Model Y.
- 1:30Don Armstrong: On the 3, 17 to 23, on the Y, 2020 to 2023.
- 1:36Don Armstrong: Front exterior turn signals may fail.
- 1:38Don Armstrong: That's not good.
- 1:39Don Armstrong: Rivian R1S and the Rivian R1T 25 and 26 model years.
- 1:45Don Armstrong: Here's a different one, because you never hear about Toyotas too much anyway.
- 1:50Don Armstrong: Blank instrument cluster display, Toyota Camry Hybrid 25 and 26, and deactivated electronic stability control for the Toyota BZ Woodland.
- 2:04Jeff Dziekan: Well, that's not a problem if it's deactivated, the the stability the stability control.
- 2:10Jeff Dziekan: Stability, I'm sorry.
- 2:10Jeff Dziekan: I thought it was okay.
- 2:12Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, that's that's not good.
- 2:13Jeff Dziekan: I had that quite on the Cadillac.
- 2:15Don Armstrong: Stability control.
- 2:16Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:17Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 2:18Don Armstrong: So now what we're going to do is uh-oh.
- 2:22Don Armstrong: We're going to do what the auction car sold for.
- 2:28Don Armstrong: It's a little fun game that we play, and uh we get the cars prices from what they sold for from Heming's sold car weekly roundup.
- 2:40Don Armstrong: Gather the kids around the TV.
- 2:42Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 2:43Don Armstrong: So we start this week's off with a 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle.
- 2:51Don Armstrong: Oh.
- 2:52Don Armstrong: That, my friends, is a good looking car.
- 2:55Don Armstrong: I'm tearing up.
- 2:56Don Armstrong: It's even got the red striped tires and the wheel trim rings.
- 3:01Don Armstrong: I love it.
- 3:02Don Armstrong: How much do you think that that sold car sold for?
- 3:07Mike Marrs: You know, I I would add that in the description it talks about having uh disc brakes, turbo 350 on it, but it also says it was repainted during a restoration process, prowler purple.
- 3:22Mike Marrs: Now you may sell that in any.
- 3:24Don Armstrong: Well, may I may I just also comment about one thing that kind of stands out to me is the looks to me as if it's got a big block in it.
- 3:35Jeff Dziekan: Yeah.
- 3:36Don Armstrong: Uh in 67, it would have probably been a 427.
- 3:42Mike Marrs: I think it's a big block, 396, because it's 396.
- 3:46Don Armstrong: We'll go with that.
- 3:48Don Armstrong: It's it's a big block.
- 3:50Don Armstrong: It's a big one.
- 3:51Don Armstrong: It is a big one.
- 3:52Jeff Dziekan: So with a big number of 80 85k.
- 3:55Jeff Dziekan: Really?
- 3:55Jeff Dziekan: Yeah.
- 3:56Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 3:56Don Armstrong: Well, it is rare because you don't see big blocks in this car very often.
- 4:01Don Armstrong: A 66 Chevelle.
- 4:03Don Armstrong: How much?
- 4:03Don Armstrong: You said how much?
- 4:04Jeff Dziekan: I said 85.
- 4:05Jeff Dziekan: David Ainsley says 30.
- 4:08Mike Marrs: George is at 3299.
- 4:11Jeff Dziekan: I like big blocks, and I cannot lie.
- 4:13Mike Marrs: Mr.
- 4:13Mike Marrs: Heitman's at 45.
- 4:16Don Armstrong: It sold for$36,750.
- 4:24Don Armstrong: That's a beautiful car.
- 4:26Jeff Dziekan: Probably bent or something.
- 4:28Jeff Dziekan: The frame is bent, I don't think so.
- 4:30Mike Marrs: But it's a convertible.
- 4:31Mike Marrs: You gotta also add.
- 4:32Mike Marrs: And that's what I thought too.
- 4:35Don Armstrong: Wow.
- 4:36Don Armstrong: What'd you say?
- 4:37Don Armstrong: A deduction?
- 4:38Don Armstrong: No, limited production.
- 4:39Don Armstrong: Oh, limited production.
- 4:40Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 4:41Don Armstrong: Let's move on to number two.
- 4:43Don Armstrong: Let's bump it up a bit.
- 4:45Don Armstrong: Let's go to 2013 model year for the Dodge Challenger.
- 4:51Don Armstrong: Give me a dollar.
- 4:52Don Armstrong: Is that is that a challenger?
- 4:54Don Armstrong: Yeah, it is.
- 4:54Mike Marrs: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:55Don Armstrong: Just want to make sure.
- 4:56Mike Marrs: Says it's only got 13,500 miles on it, and it is a 5'7 Hemi.
- 5:02Don Armstrong: And as Jeff said earlier, it says, Yeah.
- 5:05Don Armstrong: Well, because we were looking at some Cadillac black wing.
- 5:08Don Armstrong: He says, Yeah, it hasn't been off the drag strip since it was brand new.
- 5:12Don Armstrong: I don't know about that.
- 5:13Jeff Dziekan: The mileage are a quarter at a time.
- 5:14Don Armstrong: Yeah, the files are a quarter of a mile at a time.
- 5:17Don Armstrong: That's it.
- 5:19Don Armstrong: So what do you think?
- 5:20Don Armstrong: With 13,000 miles on it.
- 5:22Mike Marrs: And it is a 13.
- 5:24Mike Marrs: Two owners.
- 5:25Mike Marrs: Two owners.
- 5:26Mike Marrs: Second owner selling it.
- 5:27Mike Marrs: Heitzman's at 41,000.
- 5:29Jeff Dziekan: Oh, oh, oh.
- 5:30Jeff Dziekan: I wasn't going to go that high.
- 5:31Jeff Dziekan: Oh, see, I was going to go.
- 5:32Jeff Dziekan: George says 25.9.
- 5:33Jeff Dziekan: I'm going to go 27.
- 5:37Jeff Dziekan: Who else?
- 5:38Mike Marrs: Wonder where Mr.
- 5:38Mike Marrs: Ainsley went.
- 5:40Mike Marrs: Well, and he may have passed out from the price on the 30s.
- 5:43Mike Marrs: He may have.
- 5:44Don Armstrong: You know, one thing I do like about that though is I like the red inserts in the seats.
- 5:49Mike Marrs: Yes.
- 5:50Don Armstrong: Stands out.
- 5:51Don Armstrong: Now, is that a six-speed manual ball that I see in there?
- 5:54Don Armstrong: It kind of looks correct.
- 5:56Mike Marrs: It is a six-speed trimic.
- 5:59Don Armstrong: Wow.
- 5:59Don Armstrong: So this thing really is a rare breed onto itself.
- 6:02Don Armstrong: Sorry, I'll go 27.5.
- 6:04Don Armstrong: And no more.
- 6:05Mike Marrs: Changely said 38,000.
- 6:07Don Armstrong: It sold for 29,925.
- 6:11Mike Marrs: So that'd be Mr.
- 6:13Mike Marrs: George would be the closest.
- 6:14Don Armstrong: Yep.
- 6:15Don Armstrong: George would win that one.
- 6:17Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 6:17Mike Marrs: This is one I'm wanting to see.
- 6:21Don Armstrong: And I put this in there just for you, too, Mike.
- 6:23Mike Marrs: I appreciate it.
- 6:24Don Armstrong: A 2,000 Aston Martin DB7.
- 6:29Don Armstrong: Oh my.
- 6:30Don Armstrong: Isn't that a James Bond card?
- 6:32Don Armstrong: Yes, it is.
- 6:34Don Armstrong: And I believe it's got a V12 in it.
- 6:36Don Armstrong: Yeah, it certainly looks like it.
- 6:38Mike Marrs: V12, 28,950 miles.
- 6:42Mike Marrs: Wow.
- 6:43Mike Marrs: One of 750 V12 convertibles built, period.
- 6:48Don Armstrong: That's a nice car.
- 6:50Don Armstrong: All right.
- 6:50Mike Marrs: 160K plus original MSRP.
- 6:53Don Armstrong: So what what would you 26-year-old car?
- 6:57Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 6:58Don Armstrong: What do you think, Jeffrey?
- 7:00Jeff Dziekan: I'm gonna say 42.
- 7:03Mike Marrs: 42.
- 7:04Don Armstrong: What'd you say, Mike?
- 7:06Mike Marrs: Heitzman's at 60.
- 7:07Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 7:09Mike Marrs: George.
- 7:10Mike Marrs: Ooh, George.
- 7:11Mike Marrs: 70,07.
- 7:13Mike Marrs: Double seven issues.
- 7:17Don Armstrong: I like it, George.
- 7:18Don Armstrong: We love you, George.
- 7:20Don Armstrong: Yep.
- 7:21Don Armstrong: 70,000 and 007.
- 7:24Don Armstrong: Anybody else?
- 7:26Don Armstrong: Ainsley 75.
- 7:28Don Armstrong: Okay, are you sitting down?
- 7:30Don Armstrong: We are.
- 7:31Don Armstrong: We are.
- 7:32Don Armstrong: 28,000 875.
- 7:36Don Armstrong: Because of the maintenance fee on this every time you turn around.
- 7:42Don Armstrong: Can you imagine what an oil change on that thing it costs?
- 7:44Jeff Dziekan: Is there an oil change or is it one of those sealed systems?
- 7:46Jeff Dziekan: I don't know.
- 7:47Mike Marrs: Well, can you imagine?
- 7:48Mike Marrs: You're gonna have to take it to a dealer probably to do most anything to it.
- 7:51Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 7:52Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 7:53Mike Marrs: Wow.
- 7:54Don Armstrong: So$28,875 for the DB7 Aston Martin.
- 7:58Don Armstrong: All right, next up, this is like my buddy's car from high school.
- 8:03Don Armstrong: The only difference is that the front half, the engine, I'm sorry, the fenders and and the hood were were were basically flat black, like this one.
- 8:14Don Armstrong: The rest of the car was red, but it looks it's identical.
- 8:17Don Armstrong: Two-door 55.
- 8:18Don Armstrong: A stroker motor in it.
- 8:20Don Armstrong: It does look like an LS1 motor.
- 8:23Don Armstrong: So what do you think that this car sold for?
- 8:26Mike Marrs: Got a four-speed in it and a 411 posse.
- 8:30Don Armstrong: It's a drag car.
- 8:32Don Armstrong: An old drag car.
- 8:33Mike Marrs: Since they took the it was a body off, just the body work was a body off at interior restoration.
- 8:40Mike Marrs: They didn't do it.
- 8:40Mike Marrs: The rest of it's restored, I guess you'd say.
- 8:44Jeff Dziekan: I'm gonna go$25,000.
- 8:47Mike Marrs: George is at$999.99.
- 8:52Jeff Dziekan: Yeah.
- 8:53Jeff Dziekan: Uh Heitzman 33K.
- 8:56Don Armstrong: Well, I'm I'm I'm gonna tell you right now that Jeff Heitzman is one because the sold price is$37,800.
- 9:05Don Armstrong: Which I okay.
- 9:07Don Armstrong: I don't see it.
- 9:08Don Armstrong: Body off, frame off, restoration.
- 9:12Don Armstrong: David says$14.37.
- 9:15Don Armstrong: I mean, it's a nice car and all, but I think it's a niche driver, though.
- 9:19Jeff Dziekan: If it's a if it's a dragster, it's a well it's you're saying it's a dragster.
- 9:24Don Armstrong: We don't know that, but it's got a 411 rear end in it, which would, you know, it'd be at 6,000 RPM in the quarter mile.
- 9:32Don Armstrong: Yeah, that's exactly.
- 9:33Don Armstrong: All right, next up.
- 9:35Don Armstrong: A 1969 Plymouth GTX, which is makes this very uh very special car.
- 9:43unknown: Bo.
- 9:44Don Armstrong: A 69 GTX.
- 9:46Jeff Dziekan: That sure is pretty white interior.
- 9:49Jeff Dziekan: Yeah.
- 9:49Jeff Dziekan: Vinyl top.
- 9:50Mike Marrs: Says it's only got 60,000 miles on it.
- 9:54Don Armstrong: I don't I well, original miles.
- 9:57Don Armstrong: That's what it says.
- 9:59Jeff Dziekan: Wow.
- 10:00Jeff Dziekan: Here's my number, Mike.
- 10:01Jeff Dziekan: 35k.
- 10:03Jeff Dziekan: 35.
- 10:04Mike Marrs: 35.
- 10:04Mike Marrs: 440v.
- 10:06Mike Marrs: 440 V8, 4 speed with a track pack package.
- 10:10Mike Marrs: And if you'll notice, bench seat in the front.
- 10:15Jeff Dziekan: It's like a 6040.
- 10:18Jeff Dziekan: No, not in the front.
- 10:19Mike Marrs: Yeah, they call it a bench, they call it a six passenger option.
- 10:23Don Armstrong: Gotcha.
- 10:26Don Armstrong: Well, everybody's stumped.
- 10:29Mike Marrs: No, they just I'm I'm drilling.
- 10:31Don Armstrong: Heisman's at 39.
- 10:35Don Armstrong: George is at 21,999.
- 10:38Don Armstrong: Now, this is a rare car.
- 10:40Don Armstrong: And especially with the low mileage, David's at$28,999.
- 10:45Don Armstrong: It sold for$78,750.
- 10:51Don Armstrong: But why would you have aftermarket wheels on it?
- 10:55Don Armstrong: Those aren't stock wheels.
- 10:57Don Armstrong: No, but they like those wheels, I guess.
- 10:58Don Armstrong: That's why they did it.
- 11:01Don Armstrong: That's a killer for me.
- 11:03Don Armstrong: If you're gonna have a car like this, that's all fixed up and fancy and stuff.
- 11:08Don Armstrong: I mean, I would I definitely want to put that.
- 11:11Jeff Dziekan: And that doesn't look like a bench seat to me.
- 11:12Jeff Dziekan: That looks like a split seat somehow.
- 11:14Jeff Dziekan: Oh, it's bench, yes, but it doesn't.
- 11:15Jeff Dziekan: Oh, it's got the fold down armrest thing.
- 11:18Mike Marrs: It's their five passenger option, but I'm I'm with you.
- 11:21Mike Marrs: You got a car here that you got everything back to factory original look, except the wheels.
- 11:26Don Armstrong: Except the wheels.
- 11:27Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 11:28Don Armstrong: Boo.
- 11:29Mike Marrs: Yeah.
- 11:29Don Armstrong: Next up, a 19 and 55.
- 11:35Don Armstrong: Wow, this is nice.
- 11:36Don Armstrong: Except I don't I don't understand the red and green.
- 11:41Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 11:41Don Armstrong: Uh 55 Chevy 3100.
- 11:45Don Armstrong: Isn't that like a three-quarter ton?
- 11:47Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 11:48Mike Marrs: Yes.
- 11:49Don Armstrong: 55 Chevrolet 3100 that has uh not a stock engine in it.
- 11:54Don Armstrong: Is it?
- 11:54Mike Marrs: No, it's 300 horsepower 350.
- 11:56Don Armstrong: Yeah, they're saying 350 miles.
- 11:58Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 11:58Don Armstrong: So it's got a Chevy V8 headers and all that stuff on it.
- 12:01Don Armstrong: All right, all right, all right, all right.
- 12:03Don Armstrong: Uh 32.
- 12:05Don Armstrong: 32.
- 12:06Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 12:09Don Armstrong: Uh Jeff says 21.
- 12:14Don Armstrong: I just I'm just puzzled by the red interior on a green truck.
- 12:18Mike Marrs: They like this.
- 12:23Mike Marrs: The Lusk family.
- 12:25Don Armstrong: They're back 45K.
- 12:29Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 12:30Mike Marrs: Well David Ainsley?
- 12:33Don Armstrong: Ainsley's at 33.
- 12:34Don Armstrong: Ainsley wins.
- 12:36Don Armstrong: It sold for$30,450.
- 12:39Don Armstrong: I guess$32.
- 12:40Don Armstrong: I was close.
- 12:41Jeff Dziekan: There you go.
- 12:41Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 12:42Jeff Dziekan: Perfect.
- 12:42Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 12:43Don Armstrong: Next up.
- 12:46Don Armstrong: This, ladies and gentlemen, is the car.
- 12:49Don Armstrong: Yes.
- 12:50Don Armstrong: Not the exact one, but one just like it that Danny Krieger and I put in neutral and ran this car through the front of his grandmother's garage.
- 13:03Don Armstrong: You know, the statute of limitations still applies.
- 13:06Jeff Dziekan: Because that's a Buick Four holer.
- 13:08Don Armstrong: It's a four-holer.
- 13:09Don Armstrong: It's a Buick Roadmaster, ladies and gentlemen.
- 13:12Jeff Dziekan: And it is priceless.
- 13:13Jeff Dziekan: That's my that's my uh bid.
- 13:15Don Armstrong: I think that that Danny's grandmother's car was a four-door, but I don't I don't regress on this.
- 13:21Don Armstrong: I just whatever.
- 13:22Don Armstrong: It's the same model year, and uh it's a four-holer.
- 13:26Mike Marrs: Yeah, 322 V8 with a four-barrel sedan.
- 13:30Don Armstrong: It's what they call the nail head, I believe.
- 13:32Mike Marrs: Yes, sir.
- 13:33unknown: Yeah.
- 13:34Don Armstrong: So um I'm gonna tell you right now that Stan has a 55 Buick Special, which my dad had.
- 13:42Don Armstrong: And it didn't have power steering.
- 13:44Don Armstrong: You're thinking, oh my god, that car weighs at least three tons.
- 13:49Don Armstrong: Yeah, how do you steer it?
- 13:51Don Armstrong: Yeah, well, sitting still, it's difficult.
- 13:53Don Armstrong: But if you're rolling down the road, that thing is like a bus.
- 13:58Don Armstrong: It's huge and it's easy to steer with a massive steering wheel.
- 14:02Don Armstrong: You gotta get above 35 for it to be easy steering.
- 14:05Don Armstrong: So, what do you think that this thing sold for?
- 14:07Jeff Dziekan: I'm gonna go 24,000.
- 14:09Jeff Dziekan: 24.
- 14:09Jeff Dziekan: Yes.
- 14:10Don Armstrong: It's clean.
- 14:11Don Armstrong: Boy, that's true.
- 14:12Don Armstrong: Huh?
- 14:13Don Armstrong: Mr.
- 14:13Mike Marrs: Heisman's at 35.
- 14:15Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 14:17Mike Marrs: Lusk family says 27,500.
- 14:22Mike Marrs: Don't George says Don's girlfriend handled the chrome.
- 14:26Mike Marrs: I don't know what that is.
- 14:29Don Armstrong: He didn't have a trailer hitch either.
- 14:31Don Armstrong: He's going.
- 14:33Mike Marrs: He's going 28,999.
- 14:37Mike Marrs: Mr.
- 14:37Mike Marrs: Ainsley's at$1,500.
- 14:39Jeff Dziekan: $150.
- 14:40Mike Marrs: And Kyle Ainsley's at$20.
- 14:43Mike Marrs: I'm going to say$20.
- 14:46Don Armstrong: I think he meant$20.
- 14:47Don Armstrong: Them youngsters.
- 14:48Mike Marrs: Well, you know, he he likes them.
- 14:50Don Armstrong: Are you ready?
- 14:51Don Armstrong: Are you ready?
- 14:52Don Armstrong: Are you sitting down?
- 14:53Don Armstrong: No, didn't you?
- 14:53Don Armstrong: You too could have this car for$15,750.
- 14:59Jeff Dziekan: Wow.
- 14:59Jeff Dziekan: That's great.
- 15:00Jeff Dziekan: Didn't Rayman have Rayman had a convertible buet.
- 15:03Jeff Dziekan: I can't remember.
- 15:04Jeff Dziekan: That was the older model, though.
- 15:05Mike Marrs: It's pretty close.
- 15:06Don Armstrong: So we're going to finish up today's bidding with a 1954.
- 15:12Don Armstrong: Willis.
- 15:13Don Armstrong: What you talking about?
- 15:14Don Armstrong: What are you talking about?
- 15:15Don Armstrong: What are you talking about, Willis?
- 15:16Don Armstrong: A Willis pickup truck.
- 15:20Don Armstrong: There you don't see very many of these.
- 15:23Don Armstrong: That's an aftermarket motor.
- 15:25Mike Marrs: Oh yeah, it's 320.
- 15:27Mike Marrs: Wrote down 322, and I'm not sure why.
- 15:30Don Armstrong: I think that that, I think that that thing, a 54, probably had a four-cylinder.
- 15:34Don Armstrong: Might have been a six-cylinder.
- 15:36Don Armstrong: Probably a six.
- 15:37Mike Marrs: No, it's it's yeah.
- 15:38Mike Marrs: This one's got a V8 with a four-barrel on it.
- 15:40Mike Marrs: No, I know.
- 15:41Don Armstrong: I'm just I'm just saying, originally.
- 15:43Mike Marrs: 350 V8.
- 15:45Mike Marrs: It has been upgraded to a 12-volt system.
- 15:48Jeff Dziekan: Well, there you go.
- 15:50Jeff Dziekan: That's a that's an air.
- 15:51Jeff Dziekan: That's a cellar right there.
- 15:54Mike Marrs: Yeah, and it's uh got a three-speed manual transmission.
- 15:57Mike Marrs: And interestingly though, the four-wheel drive, the transfer case, is disconnected from the front axles.
- 16:05Mike Marrs: ITunes at 19,000.
- 16:07Mike Marrs: So it doesn't have real four-wheel drive.
- 16:11Jeff Dziekan: I'm gonna go 11,000.
- 16:13Jeff Dziekan: I'm gonna go way low on everybody because everybody's in the 20 range.
- 16:16Mike Marrs: Yeah, Lesk is at 23.
- 16:18Mike Marrs: George is at 26,999.
- 16:22Mike Marrs: Ainsy's there with you, George.
- 16:23Mike Marrs: Uh Jeff, 13,000.
- 16:27Don Armstrong: Well, it sold for$13,650.
- 16:32Jeff Dziekan: Perfect.
- 16:33Mike Marrs: Yeah.
- 16:34Jeff Dziekan: Nice job, everybody.
- 16:35Jeff Dziekan: That was good.
- 16:36Mike Marrs: That was interesting.
- 16:37Jeff Dziekan: Pay the uh pay the lady at the window for all of your winnings.
- 16:41Jeff Dziekan: Yes, that's it.
- 16:42Jeff Dziekan: And then make sure you have your insurance card with you before you pick it up.
- 16:44Jeff Dziekan: No checks.
- 16:45Jeff Dziekan: No checks.
- 16:46Jeff Dziekan: That's all the cashier's check.
- 16:47Jeff Dziekan: That's all.
- 16:48Don Armstrong: No, nothing.

- 18:42Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, some of these things are surprising.
- 18:43Jeff Dziekan: I don't call them hacks or just you know however people use these things.
- 18:46Jeff Dziekan: But uh, this versatile product has many uses other than you know the things that it's designed for, especially helpful in the garage.
- 18:52Jeff Dziekan: If you're looking for an inexpensive way to keep your car looking running, good is uh new.
- 18:57Jeff Dziekan: So originally developed by the aerospace industry as a degreaser and rust prevention solvent.
- 19:03Jeff Dziekan: And this, of course, the WD is water displacement, and it's the 40th formula.
- 19:08Jeff Dziekan: That's how that 40 came in there.
- 19:09Jeff Dziekan: Water displacement 40.
- 19:11Jeff Dziekan: Right.
- 19:11Jeff Dziekan: Uh it's suitable for every application.
- 19:13Jeff Dziekan: Always double check, though, uh, the instructions before you do any of these things for your car because it can be expensive if it doesn't work.
- 19:20Jeff Dziekan: So it's particularly useful for both protecting the chrome parts of your car and the rust improving their shine.
- 19:26Jeff Dziekan: Uh, it can be done by coating the chrome surfaces with the original WD 40, the spray, and then waiting for about 10 minutes so it sinks in a little bit, and then gently scrub the chrome before uh rinsing off the residue.
- 19:38Jeff Dziekan: And who doesn't like to rinse residue?
- 19:40Jeff Dziekan: I like it.
- 19:40Jeff Dziekan: Uh spray on another coat, wipe it clean, and uh your shine will come back to the chrome.
- 19:46Jeff Dziekan: Similarly, uh the WD can be restore the headlights if you trust that, and if they're not too bad.
- 19:52Jeff Dziekan: And I know my uh son Jason just did Kylie's before she went over to to Texas Tech.
- 19:56Jeff Dziekan: He did the buffing part of it.
- 19:58Jeff Dziekan: There's a process that they do at the dealership that he did for her.
- 20:01Jeff Dziekan: But that involves WD-40?
- 20:03Jeff Dziekan: No, no, no.
- 20:03Jeff Dziekan: It's all the compounds and things.
- 20:05Jeff Dziekan: But nevertheless, uh it's a multi-use product.
- 20:08Jeff Dziekan: Instead of applying it directly to lights, you should use it with uh put on chrome or you should spray it on a clean cloth, then thoroughly rub the headlights to restore their shine.
- 20:18Jeff Dziekan: Using WD-40 on car doors can also be particularly useful, cold weather.
- 20:23Jeff Dziekan: Uh in case that uh in that case, the WD can be used to unstick them in these situations.
- 20:30Jeff Dziekan: So you spray the WD on the frozen part and it will break loose.
- 20:33Jeff Dziekan: Using it on your car doors particularly useful in cold weather.
- 20:36Jeff Dziekan: Uh you can put it on your hinges as well.
- 20:39Jeff Dziekan: So gaskets and weather stripping of your car that can be limbered up.
- 20:43Jeff Dziekan: It can extend the lifespan as well as keep the climate control.
- 20:49Jeff Dziekan: Limber it up, uh, more efficient.
- 20:51Jeff Dziekan: The product can also be used to in a similar fashion for your windshield wipers, slowing down their wear and tear, saving you money, and it won't replace it.
- 20:58Jeff Dziekan: Putting that grease right on your windshield.
- 21:00Jeff Dziekan: There you go.
- 21:00Jeff Dziekan: Another way of this product lubricant is your strut mounts.
- 21:03Jeff Dziekan: Uh can be annoying, they squeak the top of the mount.
- 21:06Jeff Dziekan: Sometimes the bolts get rusty and things uh from the open road, spray it on there and they'll be lubed up.
- 21:12Jeff Dziekan: Very important though, not to use it on any of your brakes, because that's that'd be not be good.
- 21:17Jeff Dziekan: If you like keeping your car looking pristine and hate those sticky dashboards and all that good stuff people eat in your car, you can actually use this on uh some of the uh dash parts, maybe your steering wheel.
- 21:29Jeff Dziekan: They say it does work.
- 21:31Jeff Dziekan: I wouldn't do it, but there it is.
- 21:33Jeff Dziekan: Another common would be adhesives.
- 21:35Jeff Dziekan: If you got a bumper sticker or something that's sticky on your vehicle, rubber, tar, you can spray it on there, wipe it off, and it should be should be.
- 21:43Jeff Dziekan: Crayons.
- 21:44Jeff Dziekan: If you've got kids in your car and they write crayon stuff on the on the uh doors or the pads or anything like that on the seats, WD 40 can remove that as well.
- 21:52Jeff Dziekan: The solvent is safe to use with paint, but WD removes grime, tree sap, bird droppings, and all that good stuff, dead bugs and things.
- 21:59Jeff Dziekan: The electricity.
- 22:00Jeff Dziekan: Electrical components of your vehicle.
- 22:03Jeff Dziekan: His business will go down.
- 22:04Jeff Dziekan: Components of your vehicle are obviously some of the car parts that are important to keep moisture free, can be used to dry them out, including spark plugs, spark plug wires, and ignition distributors.
- 22:16Jeff Dziekan: This product is also dealing with flooded engines, whether that's part of your car, lawnmower, tractor, or other vehicle.
- 22:23Jeff Dziekan: Completely shut off the motor, spray the original WD formula into the carburetor.
- 22:28Jeff Dziekan: Once the moisture is clear, the engine should start and never have a problem after that.
- 22:33Jeff Dziekan: While it's great for drying out flooded engines, just remember that WD-40 is not a substitute for engine oil and should refrain from using it as such.
- 22:42Jeff Dziekan: And if you uh do a lot of highway driving, tired of having those bugs stick to your windshield, you can spray it on your windshield, and uh the bugs will just go off and they'll become roadkill.
- 22:51Jeff Dziekan: That's what the article says.
- 22:52Jeff Dziekan: Uh rather than stick to your windshield, the bug comes roadkill.
- 22:56Jeff Dziekan: So just be careful how you use it.
- 22:58Jeff Dziekan: Uh WD40 has many uses.
- 22:59Jeff Dziekan: You can spray it on your tire.
- 23:01Jeff Dziekan: Uh keep the grime, the grime, and road mud off your tires altogether.
- 23:06Jeff Dziekan: Uh spray it on there, and it comes off very, very easily.
- 23:09Jeff Dziekan: Isn't it mainly fish oil?
- 23:11Jeff Dziekan: I don't know.
- 23:13Jeff Dziekan: I've never read the back of it.
- 23:14Jeff Dziekan: I've never read the ingredients of it.
- 23:16Don Armstrong: Well, it's not that you're gonna eat it or anything, but it's not uh just be careful how you use it.
- 23:20Jeff Dziekan: There are some things that might you know ruin or get uh boogered up, as they say.
- 23:25Don Armstrong: Boogered up.
- 23:27Don Armstrong: All right there, uh Mr.
- 23:28Don Armstrong: Marnes uh got the driving destinations for us.
- 23:32Mike Marrs: Yes, sir.
- 23:32Mike Marrs: Got a few things that we were looking at.
- 23:34Mike Marrs: School, the kids have all gone back to school, so family weekend trips are basically what you're looking at either Saturday and Sunday or maybe for the whole weekend.
- 23:42Mike Marrs: So we were looking at day tripping.
- 23:44Mike Marrs: Uh and one of the things is Beaumont.
- 23:48Mike Marrs: Now it's far enough from Houston that it's out of Houston, but it's not really too far.
- 23:52Mike Marrs: It's only about an hour, hour and a half, depending on where you're coming from.
- 23:55Mike Marrs: And one of the things is the Spindle Top Gladys City Boomtown Museum.
- 24:00Mike Marrs: Now, this is really a look at what really changed Texas.
- 24:03Mike Marrs: The spindletop uh oil wells that came in from the spindle top oil field that's just outside of Beaumont, created a big gusher, set off the first big oil boom in the state of Texas.
- 24:14Mike Marrs: Now, the Gladys City Boomtown Museum, they've got a lot of things like a livery stable, a lot of reenactments or setups like were uh around during that time of year.
- 24:25Mike Marrs: And once a year, they actually have a smaller, but it's an oil derrick type setup, and they'll set off a water boom to kind of reenact the the gusher.
- 24:34Mike Marrs: And uh it's a pretty big deal, it's pretty neat, and then there's a lot of other museums to see around in Beaumont, uh including the State Fire Museum.
- 24:42Mike Marrs: Then uh the second place we wanted to look at is Nacadoches.
- 24:45Mike Marrs: Again, not too far to make it where it'd have to be a weekend.
- 24:49Mike Marrs: You can make it a longer day trip because it's a little bit further to drive.
- 24:52Mike Marrs: We've got a lot of historic buildings, got a walkable downtown, parks, uh creek, uh Millard's Crossing Historic Village is a place.
- 25:01Mike Marrs: It's got a lot of interesting things that go on in it, as well as the Stephen S.
- 25:05Mike Marrs: Austin University has a planetarium.
- 25:08Mike Marrs: So you can kind of do something kind of in the inside, get a little air conditioning, as well as get some of the outside experiences outside of Houston to make it a day trip, even though it's a little long.
- 25:19Mike Marrs: The third one we wanted to look at was Sea Center, Texas.
- 25:23Mike Marrs: Now, this is down in Lake Jackson.
- 25:25Mike Marrs: Uh I never heard of it until I went looking for all this stuff, and it's easy to get to and it's easy to overlook.
- 25:30Mike Marrs: I guess that's why nobody's heard of it.
- 25:32Mike Marrs: But coming out of Houston, 288's kind of a main thoroughfare.
- 25:36Mike Marrs: Well, you just get on it and you go south until you get to Sea Center, Texas.
- 25:41Mike Marrs: Now, it's also uh has an aquarium, it's a fish hatchery, and it really looks specifically at the Texas Gulf Coast marine life, you know, covering the salt marshes, the bays, artificial reefs, things like that.
- 25:53Mike Marrs: It's got a touch pool to where the kids can actually get in and handle a few of the marine animals that it's safe to do.
- 25:59Mike Marrs: And the best part is it's free.
- 26:03Mike Marrs: Then a little bit closer to your house there, Don, Rosenberg.
- 26:07Mike Marrs: It's still close to Houston.
- 26:08Mike Marrs: In fact, last time I was over there, it's basically Houston's about caught up with it.
- 26:12Mike Marrs: It's got a historic downtown with shops and restaurants, and it has the Fort Bend Museum.
- 26:18Mike Marrs: It's got some uh other opportunities such as Seaborne Creek Nature Park.
- 26:22Mike Marrs: You can go hiking, birding, do a little bit of fishing.
- 26:25Mike Marrs: So it's not too far, but it's a nice place to go.
- 26:28Mike Marrs: And it's also got a couple of uh people that's from that area.
- 26:32Mike Marrs: BJ Thomas is one of them, right there on the left.
- 26:34Mike Marrs: And then there's also dead.
- 26:36Mike Marrs: Yes, he is.
- 26:38Mike Marrs: But Steven Droits, D-R-O-Z-D, I'm not sure.
- 26:41Mike Marrs: How do you say his name, Don?
- 26:42Don Armstrong: I don't know.
- 26:43Don Armstrong: Oh who is he?
- 26:44Mike Marrs: He's he he's with a his one of the uh member of the flaming lips band.
- 26:50Mike Marrs: He's been on TV.
- 26:52Don Armstrong: Flaming something.
- 26:53Don Armstrong: I I know a few of those, but yeah, but flaming lips.
- 26:56Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 26:56Don Armstrong: Anyway, go ahead.
- 26:57Mike Marrs: Then we run down to Surfside Beach.
- 26:59Mike Marrs: Now, yeah, if you go down to Galveston, Galveston's pretty predictable about what you're gonna see, what you're gonna do.
- 27:04Don Armstrong: Candace Thackeray's hangout.
- 27:06Mike Marrs: There you go.
- 27:07Mike Marrs: Now, but if you go over to Surfside, which is uh west of Galveston, you get a little more simple.
- 27:13Mike Marrs: The beach, you still got the beach, the Gulf Air, and and lots of uh places to go have lunch, have dinner, but there's not really a big attraction like uh the parks and the museum or the strand that's really gonna drag a bunch of people down there.
- 27:27Mike Marrs: So this is actually more of a place you can go and literally go beach.
- 27:31Mike Marrs: This is a picture of the city hall at Surfside Beach.
- 27:36Mike Marrs: So it kind of gives you an idea of how laid back it is down there.
- 27:39Jeff Dziekan: City Hall looks like it looks kind of like a penitentiary.
- 27:42Jeff Dziekan: Just a side note, Mike.
- 27:43Jeff Dziekan: When I moved to Texas in 81, I lived in Clute, Texas, which is the mosquito capital of Texas, which is 15 minutes from where you're showing that picture right there.
- 27:51Jeff Dziekan: We used to spend six out of the seven days a week down at Surfside Beach.
- 27:56Mike Marrs: Yeah, yeah.
- 27:56Mike Marrs: Went through there, went through Clute one morning about 2 30 and uh met the local uh constable.
- 28:04Don Armstrong: I can't imagine why.
- 28:05Mike Marrs: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:06Mike Marrs: So the other one we wanted to mention is College Station.
- 28:09Mike Marrs: Now, uh, everybody thinks when you think college station, you go Texas AM.
- 28:13Mike Marrs: Yeah, Texas AM is a big deal.
- 28:15Mike Marrs: Love their band, their marching band, but there's a lot more things there not too far from Houston.
- 28:20Mike Marrs: George H.
- 28:21Mike Marrs: W.
- 28:21Mike Marrs: Bush Presidential Library Museum is there.
- 28:23Mike Marrs: Got a lot of interesting things in there.
- 28:25Mike Marrs: Maybe it's a little bit for the older kids or teenagers, but you can go there and you can actually go and explore the university itself.
- 28:33Mike Marrs: And the the football stadium is just monstrous.
- 28:36Mike Marrs: And there's even a picture here of uh some of the older places.
- 28:39Mike Marrs: But go down around Northgate or even slip over to Brian downtown if you need to go to a little bit more.
- 28:44Mike Marrs: But a lot of things to do there without actually having to go to a museum park or ankle.
- 28:52Don Armstrong: Thank you, sir.
- 28:53Don Armstrong: Uh in-wheel time car talk show continues right after this quick break.
