- 0:00Speaker 1: This podcast is recorded on Gadigal land. Always was, always
- 0:03Speaker 1: will be Aboriginal land. Hey chicks, I'm Al.
- 0:10Speaker 2: And I'm Sal.
- 0:11Speaker 1: And this is Two Broke Chicks, the show that shares
- 0:13Speaker 1: life lessons and tips to help make you rich in life.
- 0:15Speaker 1: And today it is spring. Welcome back, baby girl.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Hot chick spring checklist.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Exactly. We do these, I think we've been doing these
- 0:27Speaker 1: for like three years now. It's a long day. And
- 0:30Speaker 1: basically at the start of every season, we basically give
- 0:33Speaker 1: you a 90-day curriculum of things to do, trends that
- 0:37Speaker 1: are coming, new product launches, bada bing, bada boom. So
- 0:41Speaker 1: these are my favorite to record. I love a 90-day reset.
- 0:46Speaker 1: I love spring. It's always the vibe. But before we
- 0:49Speaker 1: get into it, we have to start with our obsessions
- 0:51Speaker 1: of the week. And this week's obsession is brought to
- 0:55Speaker 1: you by Dove and their Intensive Repair Ceramide Masque.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Okay.
- 0:59Speaker 1: So you can get the mask backed by 10 years
- 1:02Speaker 1: of research, which love that. And it's about kind of
- 1:06Speaker 1: adding in hydration, smoothness, shine, fullness back into your hair
- 1:12Speaker 1: by focusing on like the protein of your hair, which
- 1:16Speaker 1: love that you leave it on for three to five
- 1:17Speaker 1: minutes and then rinse. So perfect for an everything shower,
- 1:21Speaker 1: if you know what I mean.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Yeah and love that it's not like a whole extra
- 1:25Speaker 2: step that takes a really long time really easy to
- 1:27Speaker 2: add into the routine.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Exactly so it's formulated with glutamic amino serum and patented
- 1:33Speaker 1: bioprotein care technology which is backed by the 10 years
- 1:37Speaker 1: of research to help kind of re-strengthen and revitalize your hair.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Love it working on it in the lab yeah science
- 1:45Speaker 2: We've seen your feedback. We know you've been sharing all
- 1:48Speaker 2: of your thoughts on Dove's new hair mask.
- 1:50Speaker 1: And now we get to unpack them all. So we've
- 1:53Speaker 1: been reading out a couple reviews here and there of
- 1:55Speaker 1: the mask. I've got some more. Number one, great value
- 1:59Speaker 1: hair mask. I'm impressed with Dove. Absolutely love the product.
- 2:02Speaker 1: It has left my hair soft, smooth, and silky after
- 2:05Speaker 1: every use. Would 1000% recommend it.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Love that. Seriously.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Another one said, I've only used the Dove Intensive Repair
- 2:13Speaker 1: and Ceramide Mask once, but I'm already impressed. My hair
- 2:16Speaker 1: feels notably smoother, softer, and healthier, and it has the
- 2:20Speaker 1: lovely silky feeling without being weighed down.
- 2:24Speaker 2: This one says, this Dove Mask makes my hair so silky.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Absolutely love.
- 2:30Speaker 1: And another chick wrote, oh my God, everyone's been telling
- 2:33Speaker 1: me to try this Dove mask. I'm definitely going to
- 2:35Speaker 1: give it a go now.
- 2:36Speaker 2: We genuinely love seeing everybody's different experiences and the excitement
- 2:40Speaker 2: to try.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Dove has changed everything. I use it so much. Best
- 2:44Speaker 1: product ever.
- 2:45Speaker 2: They do say change is a good thing.
- 2:47Speaker 1: And then we've got this one. I'm obsessed with this
- 2:50Speaker 1: hair mask. It's the only one that reduced my frizz
- 2:53Speaker 1: and left my hair feeling so soft. I use it
- 2:55Speaker 1: all the time. Thank you, Dove.
- 2:58Speaker 2: See, I love this. Everyone notices something different.
- 3:01Speaker 1: And that's exactly why Dove wants honest reviews. I love
- 3:04Speaker 1: that from them. Cute.
- 3:06Speaker 2: I love that. Positive affirmations from the chickies. Exactly.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Because that's the whole point. Real reviews from real people.
- 3:16Speaker 2: So if you haven't tried the Dove Intensive Repair Hair
- 3:18Speaker 2: Mask yet, give it a go.
- 3:20Speaker 1: And join the conversation with your honest thoughts on our TikTok.
- 3:24Speaker 2: All right. My obsession of the week is actually a
- 3:27Speaker 2: new favorite pair of jeans.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Your cute jeans.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Yeah, from Target.
- 3:32Speaker 1: It's like.
- 3:33Speaker 2: I know, right? So recently I got the horseshoe leg
- 3:38Speaker 2: jeans from Target in like a chalky brown. I'm actually
- 3:41Speaker 2: wearing them right now if you're watching this episode on YouTube.
- 3:44Speaker 2: but they're 100% cotton and only $ 50.
- 3:46Speaker 1: It's actually wild how hard it is to find a
- 3:49Speaker 1: pair of jeans for 50 bucks.
- 3:51Speaker 2: I know, especially ones with like a fabrication like that
- 3:54Speaker 2: because I do personally like 100% cotton because I don't
- 3:57Speaker 2: really like jeans that have too much stretch in them.
- 4:01Speaker 2: I actually like them to have a little bit more
- 4:03Speaker 2: of that rigid but soft feeling. And that's like 10
- 4:08Speaker 2: out of 10 what these jeans do. And at first
- 4:11Speaker 2: I was like, what is a horseshoe jean? For anybody
- 4:14Speaker 2: who doesn't know, basically.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I'm really picturing the shape of a horseshoe jean.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. It's kind of like a more exaggerated baggy
- 4:21Speaker 2: version of a barrel jean. So a barrel jean is
- 4:24Speaker 2: like a little bit more tapered, whereas a horseshoe is
- 4:26Speaker 2: a little bit more baggy, which I actually like. I
- 4:28Speaker 2: feel like it really gives that 90s jeans look. Yeah.
- 4:32Speaker 2: And they do have them in a bunch of colours
- 4:34Speaker 2: as well. But I really like the chalky brown because
- 4:35Speaker 2: I pretty much only wear blue and black jeans. So
- 4:37Speaker 2: I feel like it's added something nice to the wardrobe.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Would you say they're short girl friendly?
- 4:43Speaker 2: Not really. I feel like they look okay. They look
- 4:47Speaker 2: all right, but they're definitely, they still go under my shoes.
- 4:50Speaker 2: We posted this on TikTok the other day. I tried
- 4:52Speaker 2: the cotton on petite jeans and they were still too
- 4:54Speaker 2: long for me. So I think I'm just exceptionally short,
- 4:58Speaker 2: even in the petite world.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I don't know. The average height is like 5'3. Yeah.
- 5:04Speaker 1: And you're only five foot. So it's like, it's not
- 5:07Speaker 1: that far off.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
- 5:08Speaker 1: We've had this rant on the show before. Why are
- 5:10Speaker 1: pants so long? And why are skits so short?
- 5:14Speaker 2: I know. Dresses and skirts are so short.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Can we just like meet in the middle?
- 5:17Speaker 2: Yeah. Please?
- 5:19Speaker 1: I'm becoming my own mum.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Well, on that note, shall we get into the hot
- 5:25Speaker 1: chick spring checklist?
- 5:26Speaker 2: Yes, let's do it. Okay.
- 5:28Speaker 1: So we start all of these episodes with a bit
- 5:31Speaker 1: of a forecast, the forecast of spring, if you will.
- 5:35Speaker 1: So we kind of discuss, you know, the trending fashion,
- 5:38Speaker 1: beauty items that are coming out, all that fun stuff.
- 5:41Speaker 1: As always with trends, you don't have to follow it
- 5:44Speaker 1: like Bible. It is not like, all right, everyone go
- 5:47Speaker 1: run out the door and buy every single one of these.
- 5:49Speaker 1: It's more, it's just a fun to discuss vibe. And,
- 5:52Speaker 1: you know, sometimes trends will really align with who you are.
- 5:55Speaker 1: And sometimes you'll be like, I'm okay to let that
- 5:57Speaker 1: one go. Yeah.
- 5:58Speaker 2: And a lot of the time as well with the
- 6:00Speaker 2: trends that we usually highlight in these episodes, There's elements
- 6:04Speaker 2: of them that you can actually pull from, from pieces
- 6:06Speaker 2: that you already own, which we always encourage as well.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Play within your own wardrobe.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Exactly. All right. So our first fashion trend for spring
- 6:16Speaker 1: is one that sounds really aligned to me personally, and
- 6:19Speaker 1: it's granny core.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Granny core is so bad.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Granny core is so bad. Grand, grand. So in the past,
- 6:27Speaker 1: we've seen things like cottagecore, coquette and pastels that have
- 6:31Speaker 1: very much been a hallmark for spring. Florals for spring. Groundbreaking. Groundbreaking.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Now a new bombshell has entered the villa and she's
- 6:41Speaker 1: stolen her entire fit from her grandma's closet.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Slay.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Did you ever go to like your nan or your
- 6:47Speaker 1: grandma or your nuna and be like, can I look
- 6:50Speaker 1: at your clothes? Yeah.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Always like playing with the jewellery especially.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Yes. Yeah. My mum doesn't know where my nuna's jewellery is.
- 6:58Speaker 1: She's like, I don't know and she won't tell me. Oh. Yeah.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Do you think that she's got it somewhere for safekeeping?
- 7:04Speaker 1: Yeah, she's got it stashed somewhere.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:07Speaker 1: But essentially, grannycore is on the rise this spring. It's
- 7:11Speaker 1: taking off and it's things like, you know, silk scarves
- 7:14Speaker 1: tied under the chin, midi skirts, chunky cardigans, flowy floral
- 7:18Speaker 1: dresses that look like your nana's nightgown. And I was
- 7:23Speaker 1: reading through this and I was like, I own a lot.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Of this already. That's what I made.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Yeah. I was like, am I granny?
- 7:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Do you know who I fuck with?
- 7:33Speaker 2: Who?
- 7:34Speaker 1: Granny from Little Red Riding Hood.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Was that the movie?
- 7:38Speaker 1: The one that, like, doesn't die. The one that's, like, um.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Hoodwinked? Is that what you're talking about? Yes. Yes. I
- 7:45Speaker 2: haven't watched it properly.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Oh, we tried to watch it.
- 7:48Speaker 2: It's not for me, I don't think. No!
- 7:50Speaker 1: I love Hoodwinked. It's such a fever dream of a movie.
- 7:54Speaker 2: I think it's one of those you had to be
- 7:55Speaker 2: there and I wasn't there. Justice for Hoodwinked.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Sorry. It's so good. We, like, tried to watch it
- 8:01Speaker 1: but we ended up, like, going out. And there's, like,
- 8:05Speaker 1: the voice cast in it. It is so good. Anyway,
- 8:08Speaker 1: the granny in it is like some like adrenaline junkie
- 8:11Speaker 1: that's like.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Love that.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Yeah, love her. I don't like the one where the
- 8:15Speaker 1: granny actually dies in Red Riding Hood.
- 8:17Speaker 2: No, it's a bit grim.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Yeah. Brother's grim. I was like, you don't know what
- 8:25Speaker 1: you did yet.
- 8:25Speaker 2: You don't know what you did yet.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Same person.
- 8:34Speaker 2: So.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Granny dresses have also appeared on the runway and in shows.
- 8:40Speaker 1: It's appeared at Chloe, Victoria Beckham, and Simone Rocha. But
- 8:44Speaker 1: it showed up in a lot of spring, summer 2026
- 8:46Speaker 1: collections showcasing in July. And it's a move towards dressing
- 8:51Speaker 1: a bit older. And part of the reason why we
- 8:53Speaker 1: could be seeing this trend is less to do with
- 8:56Speaker 1: how we look and more to do with how we
- 8:58Speaker 1: want our clothes to feel. And that's the part of
- 9:00Speaker 1: this that I very much more subscribe to.
- 9:03Speaker 2: And....
- 9:05Speaker 1: I very much, like when I was younger, I think
- 9:08Speaker 1: I said that about 17 times an episode, but now
- 9:11Speaker 1: I like, if something's making me uncomfortable, if an outfit,
- 9:14Speaker 1: if a dress, if a shoe is uncomfortable, it.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Just doesn't get worn. Yeah.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Do you know what I mean? And like half the time,
- 9:22Speaker 1: I think when, you know, we have this obsession with,
- 9:26Speaker 1: you know, sizes and being, you know, a certain size,
- 9:29Speaker 1: I would have that obsession. I would be like, no,
- 9:30Speaker 1: I want, like, it has to be that size has
- 9:33Speaker 1: to be a specific size because I've you know, didn't
- 9:35Speaker 1: want it to be a different size, but it, it
- 9:37Speaker 1: actually has nothing to do with like clothes sizes have
- 9:41Speaker 1: nothing to do with how it looks on your body,
- 9:43Speaker 1: but it's how it feels on your body.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:45Speaker 1: And it's like, now I'm always like, like two sizes up, please.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Because if anything is actually tight and touching on my body,
- 9:53Speaker 1: I want to crawl out of it. Yeah.
- 9:55Speaker 2: I don't want to feel any sort of fabric on
- 9:57Speaker 2: my body at any time. And I think that's kind
- 9:59Speaker 2: of what the granny core embraces.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Lots of flowing silhouettes and– but still having fun. I
- 10:07Speaker 2: also really like that too because I think a lot
- 10:09Speaker 2: of people as well associate, you know, like your 20s
- 10:12Speaker 2: with the time when you have fun with fashion and
- 10:14Speaker 2: then once you turn 30 you get thrown out to
- 10:16Speaker 2: the pastures and you just have to wear boring drab clothes.
- 10:19Speaker 2: And it's like, no, you don't. There's lots of funky
- 10:22Speaker 2: nannas walking around wearing like the best outfits.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Oh my God. If not funkier than I've ever been.
- 10:27Speaker 2: 1000%. That's what I aspire to be.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Exactly. I think what I like about this is the
- 10:32Speaker 1: fact that it's up and coming for spring because normally
- 10:37Speaker 1: we see, you know, cozy comfort, comfy vibes in more
- 10:41Speaker 1: of the cooler months. Whereas this one is more like, no, no,
- 10:44Speaker 1: we can be cozy and comfy in summer and spring too.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Like it's, We don't have to be, it doesn't have
- 10:49Speaker 1: to be hot girl summer. It can be granny core spring. Yeah.
- 10:53Speaker 1: You know, let's slip that on its head.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I like that.
- 10:56Speaker 1: So some of the granny core items we're seeing the
- 10:58Speaker 1: most are bandanas. Searches for them on Depop have soared
- 11:03Speaker 1: by 152% in the last three months. And they were
- 11:06Speaker 1: heavily featured in Copenhagen Fashion Week. Yeah. We're also seeing
- 11:10Speaker 1: the granny skirt.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Yep.
- 11:12Speaker 1: So this is characterized by its calf-skimming cut. This is
- 11:16Speaker 1: a skirt that leans into the awkwardness of, like, granny couture.
- 11:20Speaker 1: This one I love.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Couture.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Like I said.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Couture.
- 11:25Speaker 1: I am who I am.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Art teacher jewelry. I love this. Yes, I knew you would.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Statement pieces with lots of personality. Louder pieces have featured
- 11:36Speaker 1: on the autumn and winter catwalks from Chanel, Chloe, and
- 11:39Speaker 1: Saint Laurent.
- 11:40Speaker 2: I really see that for you. 1,000%.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I could see you being an arts teacher.
- 11:44Speaker 2: I don't think I have the patience to be a teacher, but, yeah,
- 11:48Speaker 2: I would love that. I'm just imagining the crazy art
- 11:51Speaker 2: teacher from Billy Madison. I don't know if you've seen that. He, like,
- 11:55Speaker 2: walks into the lunchroom and she's eating paste and, like,
- 11:58Speaker 2: dancing around. What a vibe. Yeah.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Into it.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Always admired her.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Who I want to be when I grow up.
- 12:06Speaker 2: I see my future and it is bright.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Yeah. Lace 90s. So 90s dresses have been worn by
- 12:11Speaker 1: celebs like Kaya Gerber, Olivia Rodrigo and Bella Hadid. They
- 12:14Speaker 1: look best when, you know, contrasted with something a little
- 12:16Speaker 1: bit more rough like denim or leather or like biker boots.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:21Speaker 1: And then last but not least, oversized denim, crochet scarves
- 12:24Speaker 1: and orthopedic shoes are also part of this trend.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Damn.
- 12:28Speaker 1: I know.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Orthopedic shoes. Honestly. Bring them back.
- 12:32Speaker 1: I had to get like orthotics when I was like
- 12:34Speaker 1: a teenager or something because you like roll your foot
- 12:36Speaker 1: in or you roll your foot out and you have to...
- 12:37Speaker 1: And I think they, like, specifically make them to, like,
- 12:40Speaker 1: the degree of how much you roll your foot.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Damn.
- 12:43Speaker 1: But I would always lose them. All right, our next
- 12:45Speaker 1: spring trend.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Okay, our next spring trend. I feel like every season
- 12:50Speaker 2: there's a new trending colour, which.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Especially pastel. Of late, yeah.
- 12:55Speaker 2: For the last, like, 18 months, I feel like the
- 12:58Speaker 2: new It Girl every season has made a different pastel.
- 13:01Speaker 2: And this year's trending colour is dusty pink.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Mm.
- 13:06Speaker 2: So, yeah, we'll get into it. Previously we'd seen butter
- 13:09Speaker 2: yellow was like the biggest trending color of the last
- 13:12Speaker 2: year or so. And she's still kicking.
- 13:14Speaker 1: She is.
- 13:15Speaker 2: She is. And that's the thing. Like we've seen her
- 13:18Speaker 2: being described her. It is a girl.
- 13:21Speaker 1: It's Kate Hudson in How to Lose a Guy in
- 13:23Speaker 1: 10 Days. That is butter yellow. Butter yellow is Kate Hudson.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Kate Hudson is butter yellow.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Exactly. But we've seen it kind of have a few
- 13:29Speaker 2: different iterations like butter yellow, buttercream yellow. Sorbet Yellow is
- 13:35Speaker 2: a new version that we've seen. So yeah, I don't
- 13:38Speaker 2: think that it's going anywhere. Same with Pastel Blue. I
- 13:41Speaker 2: think it's still very popular. But yeah, apparently Dusty Pink
- 13:46Speaker 2: is on the rise. So It's a pink shade, obviously,
- 13:50Speaker 2: that's similar to like a blush or a powder pink,
- 13:53Speaker 2: but it's often referred to as the shade of discreet luxury.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Oh.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. Very, very interesting. But I think it
- 14:01Speaker 2: can be quite versatile because it's soft enough to be
- 14:04Speaker 2: used as a neutral or you can use it as
- 14:06Speaker 2: a pop of color, which I do think is fun.
- 14:11Speaker 2: And also because pink had a huge moment like two
- 14:14Speaker 2: or three years ago with Barbie.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:17Speaker 2: And then I think even again when the Legally Blonde
- 14:20Speaker 2: reboot came out, we were seeing lots of, like, articles
- 14:23Speaker 2: and stuff about, like, pink is so back. So I
- 14:26Speaker 2: don't think that pink has actually left us truly.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Pink will never leave. Yeah. But I'm more like a magenta.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Like I love like a bright pink.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Same.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Yeah, me too. But I think that the dusty pink
- 14:40Speaker 2: is good for people who maybe don't really want to
- 14:44Speaker 2: play in like super vibrant colours and prefer something that
- 14:47Speaker 2: is a little bit more like muted and subdued, especially
- 14:51Speaker 2: for spring. Yeah. I think it's fun. But, yeah, I
- 14:53Speaker 2: personally do love like a fuchsia myself. Same.
- 14:56Speaker 1: But also like I remember two years ago when we
- 14:58Speaker 1: were like Buddy Yellow was coming and we were like, no, boo.
- 15:03Speaker 2: I will say– I don't own anything and I still
- 15:06Speaker 2: have it. I just don't think it's for my color palette.
- 15:09Speaker 1: But I like it. Like I think it looks really
- 15:11Speaker 1: lovely on people. I think it's really pretty. Whereas like
- 15:13Speaker 1: I was like, no, don't open the door. Yeah. And
- 15:16Speaker 1: then I'm like, no, it actually looks really cute. Yeah.
- 15:19Speaker 1: So I think that's the thing with these. It's like
- 15:21Speaker 1: how do people take it? Like obviously because trends are
- 15:25Speaker 1: a pendulum, like how do people take something from the
- 15:26Speaker 1: past and they modernize it with, you know, pairing it
- 15:29Speaker 1: with browns or like bright reds and, Or that vibe.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Like I do love a baby pink paired with a
- 15:36Speaker 1: bright red. Yeah, that's always cute. Or a, you know,
- 15:40Speaker 1: chalky brown.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Yeah yeah no that's so true dusty pink does pair
- 15:45Speaker 2: really well with lots of other colors like we were
- 15:47Speaker 2: saying like white cream beige gray camel and navy so
- 15:51Speaker 2: it is something that you would be able to work
- 15:53Speaker 2: in with probably a lot of the neutrals in your
- 15:56Speaker 2: wardrobe which i do think is always a good thing
- 15:58Speaker 2: whereas if there's like a color that you're like i
- 16:00Speaker 2: don't know how this will work with everything else i
- 16:02Speaker 2: own that's kind of the thing that you have to
- 16:04Speaker 2: think about if you want to start like incorporating new
- 16:08Speaker 2: colors because there's nothing worse than when you buy like
- 16:10Speaker 2: a shirt and then you're like This doesn't go with
- 16:12Speaker 2: literally anything.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Yeah, you're like, how do I style it?
- 16:14Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 16:16Speaker 1: And then some honorable mentions, we also have check print.
- 16:19Speaker 1: So gingham tartan plaid have extremely been popular this winter,
- 16:24Speaker 1: but this is kind of like a softer, more natural
- 16:27Speaker 1: progression of those patterns. And we'll probably be seeing like
- 16:30Speaker 1: finer lines with softer colors.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Yeah, gingham is very cute for spring. It's giving a
- 16:35Speaker 2: picnic blanket.
- 16:36Speaker 1: I love it.
- 16:38Speaker 2: And then also jackets. I mean, in Australia, like it's
- 16:41Speaker 2: probably not going to warm up for another couple of
- 16:44Speaker 2: weeks or months. So we're still going to be layering up.
- 16:47Speaker 2: And Australian Fashion Week showed us that the jacket has
- 16:50Speaker 2: become the main feature of the outfit. I think we've
- 16:53Speaker 2: subscribed to that. Our whole lives. Absolutely. Our jacket collections
- 16:57Speaker 2: are crazy. Our wardrobes are 90% jacket. 1,000%. Yeah.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Blue jeans and a jacket. Yeah. You know that sound?
- 17:05Speaker 1: It's like red trainers, white jeans.
- 17:07Speaker 2: That's me.
- 17:08Speaker 1: We're like cool jacket, blue jeans. That's me.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Yeah, literally. And we've been seeing silhouettes like the final
- 17:15Speaker 2: jacket in winter being really popular. But with the warmer weather,
- 17:19Speaker 2: we can scale it back a little bit. So I
- 17:22Speaker 2: think we'll be seeing more structured blazers. relaxed linen jackets
- 17:25Speaker 2: that are a little bit more breathable and also like
- 17:28Speaker 2: neutral toned and some more soft textured outerwear that's good
- 17:31Speaker 2: to just like chuck on in the afternoon when it
- 17:33Speaker 2: starts to get a little bit.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Cooler yeah i have seen nothing to support this claim
- 17:37Speaker 1: this is just a gut prediction but i think we're
- 17:41Speaker 1: gonna see soon the rise of the like shoulder scarf
- 17:46Speaker 1: You know, in like the 90s and the 2000s when
- 17:48Speaker 1: they'd be going to prom and they'd have like the
- 17:50Speaker 1: scarf around their arms and like around their shoulders. Yeah,
- 17:54Speaker 1: the shawl.
- 17:54Speaker 2: The shawl, that's the.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Word I'm looking for. Thank you. I reckon that's going to,
- 17:59Speaker 1: I haven't really seen it that much. I've been seeing
- 18:01Speaker 1: a little bit here and there. I reckon that's going
- 18:04Speaker 1: to be the new chutzpah.
- 18:07Speaker 2: I think so. Yeah, I think that makes sense because
- 18:09Speaker 2: we are just seeing scarves and those types of accessories,
- 18:12Speaker 2: whether it's like, Neck scars, head scars, scars tied around
- 18:15Speaker 2: the waist. Like we're really into the scarf. And I
- 18:18Speaker 2: think they do look very chic.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Oh, pretty good. All right. Moving on to beauty and skincare.
- 18:29Speaker 1: So wearable maximalism. So this aesthetic features all of the
- 18:35Speaker 1: color and all of the expression that we kind of
- 18:38Speaker 1: associate with spring. I think you either sit like, Like
- 18:43Speaker 1: on the spectrum, it's like you're like clean girl, no makeup.
- 18:47Speaker 1: And I really hate that term. But like no makeup, makeup,
- 18:50Speaker 1: which is a slay. But we are seeing the rise
- 18:54Speaker 1: of a lot more expression with makeup thanks to the
- 18:58Speaker 1: queen that is, is Zara Larsson. So think like bold colors,
- 19:03Speaker 1: experimental looks, and theatrics for every day. We've seen Marc
- 19:08Speaker 1: Jacobs Beauty. This has just relaunched in Australia. It's relaunching
- 19:13Speaker 1: in September this month. And one, that's so exciting. We
- 19:16Speaker 1: went to the Sephora showcase and we saw a bunch
- 19:19Speaker 1: of brands. And the one thing that was really, really
- 19:22Speaker 1: present across all the brands was how many were launching
- 19:25Speaker 1: bright colors.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Like bright color blushes, bright color lipsticks, palettes, and like
- 19:31Speaker 1: eyeliner mascara that like Marc Jacobs has relaunched their beauty brand.
- 19:36Speaker 1: And in this core lineup that, like, I'm sure there's
- 19:39Speaker 1: going to be more to come, but they've included this
- 19:43Speaker 1: electric blue eyeliner and electric blue mascara, which you wouldn't
- 19:47Speaker 1: expect from a base line. launch of a beauty brand,
- 19:51Speaker 1: but it goes to show how much we're looking towards
- 19:54Speaker 1: experimentation and rebelling against this idea of clean, neutral, and
- 20:00Speaker 1: maybe unassuming beauty standards that we've kind of been pushed towards.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Like I do think We've had this era of, you know,
- 20:08Speaker 1: the trad wife, a little bit more conservative, lower hemlines,
- 20:11Speaker 1: more like less loud makeup looks. Whereas now we're like, no,
- 20:16Speaker 1: fuck that.
- 20:18Speaker 2: It's time to have fun again.
- 20:19Speaker 1: It's time to have fun again. And it's spring. We
- 20:22Speaker 1: got a spring sprung.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. And the thing that I liked about that
- 20:27Speaker 2: collection and what we saw was yesterday as well is
- 20:29Speaker 2: that yes there were some of those things that were
- 20:31Speaker 2: like the magenta and blue mascaras and eyeliners which for
- 20:35Speaker 2: some people might be a little bit like whoa but
- 20:38Speaker 2: they also had some really beautiful shimmer like shimmer eyeshadows
- 20:42Speaker 2: that are meant to be paired with like a nude
- 20:44Speaker 2: or a neutral eye so that you can start playing
- 20:47Speaker 2: and start experimenting a little bit um because it's I
- 20:51Speaker 2: think that's the thing as well it can be a
- 20:53Speaker 2: bit intimidating playing with a lot of color um but
- 20:56Speaker 2: yeah I'm so excited.
- 20:57Speaker 1: And what I liked about it is that it's like
- 20:59Speaker 1: individual pieces like the eyeshadow was like individual colors you
- 21:06Speaker 1: don't have to buy a $ 100 palette that has one
- 21:09Speaker 1: color that you're going to use because we've also said
- 21:13Speaker 1: you know In the past we need like how many
- 21:16Speaker 1: times have we bought an eyeshadow palette because we're like, ooh,
- 21:18Speaker 1: that blue is really pretty.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:21Speaker 1: And then you use it maybe like once every three
- 21:24Speaker 1: months and if that and all the other colours.
- 21:27Speaker 2: You're like, well, they go to waste.
- 21:28Speaker 1: See ya.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Yeah, whereas these ones you can like pick obviously the
- 21:31Speaker 2: individual shades that you like and will actually use.
- 21:35Speaker 1: And then once you maybe get into the habit of
- 21:37Speaker 1: experimenting more, then you're like, okay, yeah, cool, I want
- 21:39Speaker 1: to get a colourful palette.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 21:47Speaker 1: So in terms of beauty trends that we're seeing for spring,
- 21:51Speaker 1: we're definitely seeing, like we said, lots of blue. Nails,
- 21:55Speaker 1: we're seeing more bright and patterned nails that are coming back.
- 21:57Speaker 1: We did really have this trend and error of like
- 22:00Speaker 1: bare nails, which I think was more of a reflection
- 22:03Speaker 1: of Cosy Lives as well.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Lip decoration and, of course, coloured mascara. So I think
- 22:10Speaker 1: it's more like a reminder of you don't have to
- 22:12Speaker 1: follow these trends, but maybe spring is like, have you
- 22:15Speaker 1: heard of shower make-up? Oh, yeah. Yeah. So shower makeup
- 22:19Speaker 1: is this thing that I've never heard of before, but
- 22:21Speaker 1: I saw it on the internet as I do with
- 22:22Speaker 1: all things. And it's like playing around with your makeup
- 22:25Speaker 1: and doing your makeup before you have a shower.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Yeah. I used to do that in COVID all the time.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Did you really?
- 22:32Speaker 1: Yeah. I didn't know that.
- 22:33Speaker 2: And I'd be like when, you know, there was nothing
- 22:35Speaker 2: really to do except like you could still go to
- 22:37Speaker 2: the library. Like I'd go and pick up books from
- 22:39Speaker 2: the library and I'd do like a full magenta pink
- 22:42Speaker 2: eyeshadow and like walk to the library. Yeah. Yeah. That's
- 22:45Speaker 2: so fun.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Yeah, because I was just like, well. What else am
- 22:49Speaker 1: I going to do?
- 22:49Speaker 2: Yeah, and then I'd maybe go home, like take a
- 22:51Speaker 2: couple of pics to post nowhere just for fun and
- 22:54Speaker 2: then go have a shower and take it off.
- 22:56Speaker 1: That's what I used to do like when I was younger.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Like I would just do full YouTube tutorials at home.
- 23:01Speaker 1: I'm not going anywhere.
- 23:02Speaker 2: I'm 14.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Yeah. But like, it's so fun. So yeah, shower, makeup
- 23:07Speaker 1: in spring, play around. And then when you're going out,
- 23:10Speaker 1: throw it a little bit here and there. But we
- 23:12Speaker 1: actually have a really good episode with a makeup artist
- 23:14Speaker 1: coming out on Thursday, just after this episode, about how
- 23:18Speaker 1: to have more fun with your colorful makeup looks. So
- 23:22Speaker 1: stay tuned for that.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Stay tuned, stay tuned. Okay, next up on the beauty agenda,
- 23:28Speaker 2: we want to talk through some You Smell Nice spring perfumes.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Hit me. Yeah. I want to do like, a series
- 23:35Speaker 1: that we just do like fragrance Fridays. And we just
- 23:38Speaker 1: talk about a new fragrance every Friday because I love perfumes.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Yeah. There are certain.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Categories that everyone has that it's like, I can't have
- 23:47Speaker 1: enough of it. I love to smell perfumes. I love it.
- 23:50Speaker 1: I know some people aren't a big fragrance people.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Yeah. It's not for everybody.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Because, you know, some people are more sensitive to smell,
- 23:56Speaker 1: but I love them.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Yeah. So tell me. Yeah, and I do also think
- 24:00Speaker 2: that fragrance used to be thought of as like, you know,
- 24:03Speaker 2: kind of like a last minute cherry on top. But
- 24:06Speaker 2: now I really do think that it is part of
- 24:08Speaker 2: your outfit.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Yes.
- 24:09Speaker 2: And part of who you are.
- 24:11Speaker 1: I'm not ready for the day. If I haven't sprayed
- 24:14Speaker 1: perfume on myself.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:16Speaker 1: I think I probably remember to spray perfume on myself
- 24:18Speaker 1: more than I remember to put deodorant on. Yeah. Priorities.
- 24:22Speaker 1: I know. I know that's not good.
- 24:23Speaker 2: No, that's fine. That's fine. You know your strengths. But
- 24:28Speaker 2: spring and summer as well is like a really fun
- 24:30Speaker 2: time to play with fragrances because we're leaning into some
- 24:33Speaker 2: of those more like fresh and floral and fruity scents
- 24:36Speaker 2: which are really, really beautiful and we can associate with summer.
- 24:40Speaker 2: I also do think that it's really fun to change
- 24:42Speaker 2: your scents throughout the year because we tie so much
- 24:44Speaker 2: of our memory and nostalgia to smell. So if you
- 24:49Speaker 2: have a perfume and you're like, this is my spring
- 24:50Speaker 2: and summer perfume.
- 24:51Speaker 1: That it was the summer of 69. Yeah. Yeah, I
- 24:55Speaker 1: agree with that. Yeah. I think there's definitely like fragrances
- 24:58Speaker 1: that maybe weren't like seasonal, like I don't tie it
- 25:01Speaker 1: to myself seasonally but I know... Where I was in
- 25:05Speaker 1: my life.
- 25:05Speaker 2: The era.
- 25:06Speaker 1: The era when I used that fragrance.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. 1000%. Yeah. So I've got a couple of recs. Okay. Stunning.
- 25:13Speaker 2: First one is Rare Beauty Beginnings. So this is the
- 25:17Speaker 2: new fragrance from Selena Gomez's brand, but it sounds perfect
- 25:21Speaker 2: for spring. It's got pear, gardenia, and jasmine. Jasmine is
- 25:24Speaker 2: my absolute favorite scent of all time. Really? Yeah. It's
- 25:28Speaker 2: my favorite flower, my favorite scent, and it's instantly springy.
- 25:32Speaker 2: as soon as I smell Jasmine. So I feel like
- 25:33Speaker 2: that's perfect. Gucci Flora Orchid. Also the whole Gucci Flora
- 25:39Speaker 2: range is perfect for spring.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Is that your favorite, favorite fragrance?
- 25:45Speaker 2: No, my favorite fragrance is Chanel Chance. Yes. But I do.
- 25:48Speaker 1: But the Gucci Flora was pretty close to that. Yeah.
- 25:50Speaker 2: I love all the, all the Gucci perfumes are amazing,
- 25:53Speaker 2: but This one in particular, as you might have guessed
- 25:55Speaker 2: from the name, has a lot of those orchid notes.
- 25:59Speaker 2: So it's got vanilla orchid and also something called ozonic accord,
- 26:03Speaker 2: which basically smells like fresh air after a rainstorm.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:10Speaker 2: Oh. Which, like, how many times have we probably been, like,
- 26:13Speaker 2: bottled that smell? Oh.
- 26:16Speaker 1: What a, yeah.
- 26:17Speaker 2: And like a spring shower, that's one of the best
- 26:20Speaker 2: parts of spring, like a beautiful hot day and then
- 26:22Speaker 2: a spring shower in the afternoon.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Literally.
- 26:24Speaker 2: In a perfume.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Oh my God.
- 26:26Speaker 2: Yes, please.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Sold.
- 26:27Speaker 2: Speaking of Marc Jacobs again, the Marc Jacobs Daisy Wild.
- 26:31Speaker 2: So I do love all of the Marc Jacobs Daisy perfumes.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Like they're a classic for a reason. I feel like
- 26:37Speaker 2: most of us have been wearing them on and off
- 26:38Speaker 2: since high school, but this Daisy Wild one is actually
- 26:41Speaker 2: like a chocolatey floral scent. And it has creamy banana,
- 26:46Speaker 2: juicy pear. Pear's trending, clearly.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Mixed with vanilla and amber. So I feel like that
- 26:51Speaker 2: is more of a like kind of gourmand floral dessert.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Yeah. Which I think is fun. It kind of combines
- 26:59Speaker 2: like a lot of those different elements. And then finally,
- 27:02Speaker 2: Sabrina Carpenter Lemon Pie. Okay. which again, I was like,
- 27:06Speaker 2: this just sounds like a delicious little spring dessert.
- 27:09Speaker 1: All of her fragrances are like a sweet treat.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. They're the sweet traits of the perfume world.
- 27:15Speaker 2: It has candied lemon, sugar, bergamot, meringue, limoncello, graham crackers, vanilla,
- 27:22Speaker 2: and tonka beans. It sounds like a recipe to me.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Yeah, literally.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Yeah. And also the packaging is cute as fuck.
- 27:28Speaker 1: So cute.
- 27:29Speaker 2: It's a little yellow chocolate bar. So even having that
- 27:32Speaker 2: like displayed out on your nightstand is like a cutie
- 27:35Speaker 2: little piece of decor as well.
- 27:37Speaker 1: I love these.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Cute.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Into it. Love it. Moving into more of our lifestyle
- 27:44Speaker 1: curriculum for spring. I hope you haven't heard of this
- 27:49Speaker 1: yet because I'm excited to talk to you about it. Yeah. But...
- 27:53Speaker 1: I think star signs are out and life path numbers
- 27:57Speaker 1: are in. Hold up. Have you heard of life path numbers?
- 28:02Speaker 2: I haven't.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Okay. Now, I'm going to start with a disclaimer. This
- 28:06Speaker 1: is just a fruity, frivolous, and fun thing to do
- 28:08Speaker 1: for 90 days. It's not Bible. Take it or leave it.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:12Speaker 1: So a life path number is a core numerology figure
- 28:16Speaker 1: calculated from your birth date that reveals your life, purpose,
- 28:20Speaker 1: personality traits and major challenges. It acts like a sun
- 28:24Speaker 1: sign in astrology to show you how you process the world. Okay.
- 28:29Speaker 1: So I'm very excited. I've worked out both of ours.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Okay.
- 28:34Speaker 1: So you write down your complete birth date, including the month,
- 28:38Speaker 1: day and year, and you add all of the individual
- 28:41Speaker 1: days together or digits together. So you add the month,
- 28:44Speaker 1: the day, the year all together. So if your birthday
- 28:47Speaker 1: was the 19th of the 4th, 1996, you go one
- 28:50Speaker 1: plus nine, plus zero, plus four, plus one, plus nine,
- 28:54Speaker 1: plus nine, plus six. Okay.
- 28:55Speaker 2: So it's the individual digits.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Individual numbers. Yeah. So you've got to get it to
- 29:00Speaker 1: a singular digit. So for me, that was equals 39.
- 29:03Speaker 1: So then I go three plus nine equals 12, one
- 29:06Speaker 1: plus two equals three. So my life path is number three.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Okay.
- 29:12Speaker 1: So number three is the communicator and the creative.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Okay.
- 29:17Speaker 1: So three is associated with creativity, communication, charisma, self-expression, and storytelling.
- 29:23Speaker 2: That is so fucking weird. What the hell?
- 29:26Speaker 1: I know. I know. I'm scared. I know.
- 29:30Speaker 2: I know.
- 29:30Speaker 1: So it's often described as the life path of people
- 29:33Speaker 1: who are here to make ideas entertaining, emotionally resonant, or
- 29:37Speaker 1: culturally interesting. What?
- 29:40Speaker 2: The fuck?
- 29:40Speaker 1: I'm going to get a big head after this.
- 29:42Speaker 2: This is not right. Like, how is that so accurate?
- 29:45Speaker 1: Thank you so much. That's actually really kind of you.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Typical three traits include being naturally expressive, witty, socially perceptive, imaginative,
- 29:54Speaker 1: and good at turning observations into stories.
- 29:57Speaker 2: Whoa.
- 29:59Speaker 1: There can also be a strong desire to create a
- 30:01Speaker 1: life that feels interesting rather than simply conventionally successful. However,
- 30:07Speaker 1: there's a shadow side.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Ooh, scary.
- 30:12Speaker 1: So they can have.
- 30:13Speaker 2: She comes out after 11pm.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Yeah, don't feed her, she'll eat your arm.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Yeah, don't feed her rosés after midnight.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Oh, no, do feed me rosés after midnight. So they
- 30:25Speaker 1: can have scattered energy, starting more than you can finish...
- 30:29Speaker 1: Sensitivity to criticism, overthinking how you're perceived and using humor
- 30:34Speaker 1: and lightness to dodge uncomfortable feelings. I was like, this
- 30:40Speaker 1: is way too accurate.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Oh, my God. I know.
- 30:43Speaker 1: So I was like, sorry, star signs, you're out.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Yeah, although Aries is still incredibly accurate for you.
- 30:51Speaker 1: I know, I know. So your life path, would you
- 30:57Speaker 1: like to know?
- 30:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Your life path is number eight.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Oh, okay. Interesting.
- 31:03Speaker 1: So eight is associated with ambition, authority, and achievement. So
- 31:10Speaker 1: it's very much how to learn how to wield power
- 31:14Speaker 1: and build something substantial. Okay. So eight is driven, naturally
- 31:20Speaker 1: good at seeing how to make things happen, drawn to achievement, independence,
- 31:25Speaker 1: and influence. Comfortable taking charge, motivated by tangible results rather
- 31:31Speaker 1: than just ideas.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Hold on. Who's your shadow self? Other people who are
- 31:38Speaker 1: a life path eight.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Martha Stewart. Okay.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Sandra Bullock. All right.
- 31:43Speaker 2: That's a good one. Robin Williams.
- 31:47Speaker 1: The best. RuPaul.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Fuck yeah. I'm on board now.
- 31:52Speaker 1: Okay. You're on board now. Nap. Yep. So number eight
- 31:56Speaker 1: isn't necessarily a business person energy. It's more about resilience
- 32:01Speaker 1: and turning talent into something successful.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Okay.
- 32:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:07Speaker 2: I feel like yours is really spot on. I don't
- 32:08Speaker 2: know about mine.
- 32:10Speaker 1: How you feel about yours, yeah.
- 32:11Speaker 2: But I can see parts of it for sure. Yeah.
- 32:13Speaker 1: I mean, we could probably dive in deeper to it,
- 32:15Speaker 1: but I feel like that's always the way with these things.
- 32:17Speaker 1: It's like, hmm, that one doesn't apply. Let me go
- 32:20Speaker 1: in deeper. Be like, oh, yes, that is sure.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Massage it to the point that it does.
- 32:24Speaker 1: But yeah, it made me think though. I was like,
- 32:27Speaker 1: you know, your seasons are only 90 days. Right? So
- 32:31Speaker 1: it's more like, what can you embody for 90 days
- 32:34Speaker 1: and see what happens? Like, I love a little bit
- 32:36Speaker 1: of an experiment.
- 32:37Speaker 2: The next step on our hot chick spring checklist is
- 32:40Speaker 2: embracing French Sundays.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Okay.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Which sounds like a dessert, but it's not.
- 32:46Speaker 1: It does!
- 32:47Speaker 2: So springtime is often viewed as a time of productivity,
- 32:51Speaker 2: which definitely can be true. Sun's out, let's grab the
- 32:54Speaker 2: bull by the horns, take advantage of the longer days.
- 32:58Speaker 2: But it can also be really rough to come out
- 33:01Speaker 2: of the hibernation of winter and, like, those slow winter
- 33:04Speaker 2: days and then go full throttle, like, you know, hit
- 33:08Speaker 2: the pavement running in spring. So that's why we're going
- 33:11Speaker 2: to embrace the French Sunday. So in France, the end
- 33:16Speaker 2: of the week is reserved for rest and reflection, almost
- 33:20Speaker 2: surrendering to a very deliberate and intentional slowness, which I
- 33:25Speaker 2: think that a lot of people... used to embrace on
- 33:29Speaker 2: a Sunday.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Well, yeah, but then we've seen this like, you know,
- 33:32Speaker 1: rise of the Sunday reset, which is very much like chores, chores, chores, chores.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. Like Sunday is now our admin day where
- 33:39Speaker 2: we have to do like all of the life admin.
- 33:42Speaker 2: And I think that's why we, a lot of the
- 33:43Speaker 2: time get the Sunday scaries.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Because we haven't actually given ourselves a chance to relax
- 33:49Speaker 2: and reset. And the French take this Sunday mindset very seriously.
- 33:54Speaker 2: They even have sayings that enforce that Sunday is the
- 33:57Speaker 2: day of rest. So one quote, I'm not going to
- 34:00Speaker 2: say in French, I'll butcher that. But in English, the
- 34:04Speaker 2: quote is, may your Sunday be filled with grace, peace
- 34:07Speaker 2: and blessings. So adopting this French Sunday can help us
- 34:11Speaker 2: kind of battle those Sunday scaries, spending that day before
- 34:15Speaker 2: a new work week, doing things that you actually love
- 34:18Speaker 2: and prioritizing things that make you feel like relaxed and reset.
- 34:22Speaker 2: So yeah, a little quick to-do list to adopt the
- 34:25Speaker 2: French Sunday, turn off your alarm clock, cancel hectic plans
- 34:29Speaker 2: and do what you actually just feel like doing. Focus
- 34:32Speaker 2: on those simple but purposeful pleasures, whether it's like walking
- 34:36Speaker 2: without a destination, going to your favorite cafe to grab
- 34:39Speaker 2: a coffee, journaling, putting your phone on do not disturb.
- 34:43Speaker 2: Let's embrace the French Sundays in spring.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the French Sunday in what you're describing
- 34:48Speaker 1: to me is very much like embracing being a little
- 34:51Speaker 1: bit unavailable more. You know, as like things get warmer,
- 34:55Speaker 1: I think our social calendar starts to fill up a
- 34:57Speaker 1: little bit more and we make ourselves a little bit
- 34:59Speaker 1: more available. Whereas like maybe keep your Sunday's as your
- 35:04Speaker 1: O-O-O day, your out-of-office day, but like for life.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. Do not disturb Sundays.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Yeah, out of office, sorry, can't come, busy Frenching my Sunday.
- 35:14Speaker 1: French kiss your Sunday.
- 35:15Speaker 2: French kiss your Sunday.
- 35:17Speaker 1: I've been trying to say that this whole time, you know. Okay,
- 35:21Speaker 1: and our last but not least tip, probably our most
- 35:25Speaker 1: important one to finish on a high, is to organize
- 35:29Speaker 1: your queue for spending. So spring is sale event season.
- 35:35Speaker 1: We have basically all of the huge sale events coming.
- 35:38Speaker 1: And by that, I mean Black Friday.
- 35:41Speaker 2: Yep. Yep.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Last year, it essentially went for 30 days. And this year,
- 35:44Speaker 1: I will not be surprised if it does the same.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Once spring ends, we're straight into Christmas. So if you
- 35:50Speaker 1: haven't started thinking about your budget or saving by then,
- 35:55Speaker 1: it's basically too late. So in order to save and
- 35:59Speaker 1: organize yourself, for spring and Black Friday and Christmas, we're
- 36:03Speaker 1: going to start now in September because that's who I
- 36:06Speaker 1: am as a person.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Organized queens.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Yes. So we're going to start thinking of Christmas presents,
- 36:11Speaker 1: what we want to buy for people for Christmas. We're
- 36:13Speaker 1: going to start thinking about what we need to buy
- 36:15Speaker 1: during Black Friday. Are there things in your wardrobe you
- 36:17Speaker 1: need to update? Is there homewares or appliances that you're like,
- 36:21Speaker 1: you know what, that fridge is on its last leg
- 36:23Speaker 1: and she needs to go. What are the things that
- 36:25Speaker 1: you need to buy during the end of the year?
- 36:28Speaker 1: Because this is really when most people save money up
- 36:31Speaker 1: to buy their big items yeah so i have a
- 36:34Speaker 1: little cheat sheet for how to save x amount by
- 36:38Speaker 1: the 25th of december hit me so if you want
- 36:41Speaker 1: to save a thousand dollars you need to put away
- 36:44Speaker 1: so this is more of a rough guide to get
- 36:46Speaker 1: around the number just because it was easier than going
- 36:48Speaker 1: into the cents yeah right so to save a thousand
- 36:52Speaker 1: dollars by christmas you need to put away nine dollars
- 36:54Speaker 1: a day But for $ 2, 000 by Christmas, you need to
- 36:59Speaker 1: save $ 17 a day. And to save $ 5, 000 by Christmas,
- 37:05Speaker 1: you need to save $ 43 a day. So I do
- 37:09Speaker 1: think whatever your budget is, you can actually kind of
- 37:14Speaker 1: look on your spending and see where maybe that ghost
- 37:17Speaker 1: spending is still happening. Like what is the subscription that
- 37:20Speaker 1: you're paying for? Go into your app store on your phone,
- 37:23Speaker 1: your settings, and see what subscription you have.
- 37:25Speaker 2: No idea.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Which camera app that is that you're paying $ 8 a
- 37:29Speaker 1: week for and you're like, oh.
- 37:30Speaker 2: I don't even use it anymore. I don't even use it. Yeah.
- 37:32Speaker 1: You know, look at the things that I'm not saying
- 37:34Speaker 1: you need to pull. I'm not saying you need to
- 37:37Speaker 1: save more when you're already like, I'm barely trying to
- 37:40Speaker 1: get through the week. It's like, what are you spending
- 37:42Speaker 1: on now that you actually don't prioritize as much as
- 37:45Speaker 1: having the amount that you need to spend towards the
- 37:47Speaker 1: end of the year?
- 37:49Speaker 2: Yeah. And I like that because I think that saving $ 1, 000,
- 37:51Speaker 2: $ 2, 000 or $ 5, 000 sounds like a really big goal. And
- 37:55Speaker 2: it definitely is. But when you break it down day
- 37:58Speaker 2: by day like that, I think so many of us
- 38:00Speaker 2: would be unknowingly spending, what was it? $ 9, $ 17 just
- 38:05Speaker 2: on by the time we walk out the door.
- 38:07Speaker 1: 1000%. And you can even walk that lower too. Like
- 38:10Speaker 1: if you want, you can make it $ 500, $ 700, like
- 38:14Speaker 1: whatever suits your circumstances. But I do really encourage you
- 38:18Speaker 1: to try and set up some kind of automatic transfer
- 38:21Speaker 1: to your savings so that you do have that wind.
- 38:24Speaker 1: at the end of the year, that you do have
- 38:26Speaker 1: that little nest egg because there are so many of
- 38:29Speaker 1: us that get to the end of the year and
- 38:30Speaker 1: it is so stressful. There's so much pressure on Christmas
- 38:33Speaker 1: shopping and spending and there's a million Black Friday sales
- 38:36Speaker 1: and you're like.
- 38:36Speaker 2: I don't know what to do.
- 38:38Speaker 1: That with this structure as well, you give yourself a
- 38:40Speaker 1: hard budget. You're like, this is what I've put away.
- 38:43Speaker 1: That's what I'm going to spend. And you can kind
- 38:45Speaker 1: of coordinate your wish list in accordance with that.
- 38:49Speaker 2: So, yeah. I like that.
- 38:51Speaker 1: That is a wrap for our Hot Chick Spring Checklist. Wow.
- 38:55Speaker 2: We'll see you in summer. See you in summer.
- 38:57Speaker 1: We're going to be like, how is it summer already?
- 38:59Speaker 2: I know.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Yeah, can't wait. Locked in.
- 39:02Speaker 2: Absolutely. Thanks for having us in Earholes Chicks. We love
- 39:05Speaker 2: to be here. Bye.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Bye.
