- 0:45Speaker 5: Enjoy the show.
- 0:49Speaker 6: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Provide more cooling in the containment chamber. To your stations,
- 1:21Speaker 4: we have a movie meltdown.
- 1:23Speaker 5: How soon can you land? I can't tell. You can
- 1:26Speaker 5: tell me, I'm a doctor.
- 1:37Speaker 1: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian.
- 1:39Speaker 7: I'm David.
- 1:40Speaker 8: I'm Jacqueline.
- 1:41Speaker 4: I'm Michael.
- 1:42Speaker 7: And we are back for another Marvel Super Special.
- 1:46Speaker 1: We're continuing our super series that we keep doing I
- 1:49Speaker 1: guess we need to name this damn series we've done
- 1:51Speaker 1: enough of them now so I guess it's the super
- 1:53Speaker 1: series so this one can be the Marvel super special
- 1:57Speaker 1: because you know we've hit Marvel more than anything but
- 2:01Speaker 1: I know one of the previous ones for our intro
- 2:04Speaker 1: we kind of did a little Netflix intro does anybody
- 2:08Speaker 1: have any we'll do non-spoilery comments about Luke Cage I'm
- 2:13Speaker 1: assuming at least there's been some minor interaction with that.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Oh, sweet Christmas.
- 2:19Speaker 7: I finished it this weekend, so I crammed it all in.
- 2:22Speaker 4: I like it. It's good fun.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I think it's really well done. Again, it's no different
- 2:29Speaker 1: than I've said for every one of them. We're four
- 2:31Speaker 1: in now, and every time I'm like, damn, this is good.
- 2:34Speaker 4: It makes me excited for Iron Fist coming out.
- 2:37Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 2:38Speaker 1: It's... I won't go too far into it, number one,
- 2:41Speaker 1: to not get into spoilers in that area, but also
- 2:43Speaker 1: because I'm going to come back to some points later
- 2:47Speaker 1: that tie to it.
- 2:49Speaker 7: Are you really worried about Luke Cage spoilers at this point?
- 2:52Speaker 7: It's been like a month.
- 2:52Speaker 10: Now, right?
- 2:54Speaker 8: I haven't finished it.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what I was going to say. How far
- 2:58Speaker 4: in are you?
- 2:58Speaker 1: I'm about half done. Yeah, I was half done before
- 3:01Speaker 1: this weekend. I crammed the rest in this weekend because
- 3:04Speaker 1: I was just trying to be like, Okay, let's get going.
- 3:06Speaker 4: So he's still trying to figure out that he doesn't
- 3:09Speaker 4: want to do anything with his powers right now.
- 3:12Speaker 9: Don't.
- 3:13Speaker 4: He changes his mind on that.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. I figured that. I mean, you're bulletproof. Why
- 3:17Speaker 1: would you want to go out in the world? I've
- 3:19Speaker 1: seen the gifs. So I don't know.
- 3:23Speaker 7: I think that one's really well put together.
- 3:26Speaker 1: The only thing I was going to say that I
- 3:28Speaker 1: think is really impressive, and I started noticing it this
- 3:30Speaker 1: weekend going through as many episodes as I did, I'm like, Writing-wise,
- 3:36Speaker 1: they've all been really good, and we're coming into the
- 3:38Speaker 1: last one with Jessica Jones. Luke was a great addition
- 3:41Speaker 1: to that one, but she was also, like, a really cool,
- 3:43Speaker 1: strong female character. This series is so loaded with strong, intellectual, capable.
- 3:50Speaker 7: Misty Knight.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Misty Knight is kind of the co-lead.
- 3:54Speaker 7: She's already confirmed for Defenders. Like, it's damn near her series.
- 3:56Speaker 7: They've already confirmed she'll be in Defenders. Yeah, I'm like, she's... Like,
- 3:58Speaker 7: she will be around.
- 3:59Speaker 1: She's almost the co-lead of this thing.
- 4:01Speaker 7: I would like to see her somehow... This is stretching.
- 4:05Speaker 7: But I would like to see her somehow end up
- 4:07Speaker 7: in the Black Panther stuff. Just because I want her
- 4:11Speaker 7: to get her arm. And I feel like if she's
- 4:13Speaker 7: going to get the arm, it's somehow going to be
- 4:15Speaker 7: with Black Panther.
- 4:15Speaker 1: He was tourniqueting it off. And then later I saw them,
- 4:18Speaker 1: like people were already like geeking out. And I was like, oh, well, maybe, no,
- 4:21Speaker 1: I guess it's okay this time.
- 4:22Speaker 7: But they're planting that seed.
- 4:24Speaker 1: They're coming back.
- 4:26Speaker 7: So I think that would be a great touch if
- 4:27Speaker 7: somehow it was something in the Black Panther mythos that
- 4:31Speaker 7: ends up kind of like being like, hey, we can
- 4:33Speaker 7: help you out with your arm.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Rosario Dawson's been good in all of them. I love
- 4:38Speaker 1: that she's the crossover character and obviously everybody keeps it
- 4:42Speaker 1: up in the hospital. It does make sense.
- 4:44Speaker 7: How many nurse ladies do we have now?
- 4:46Speaker 1: We're going to get one.
- 4:48Speaker 7: That's with this one, Doctor Strange, we got another nurse lady.
- 4:53Speaker 4: There's been multiple night nurses. Rosario Dawson's Nightmares wasn't ever
- 4:56Speaker 4: the only one.
- 4:57Speaker 7: There was its own comic, wasn't there? Wasn't there something
- 4:59Speaker 7: just about the nurses that was like three nurses or something?
- 5:02Speaker 4: I think it was something along the lines of how...
- 5:04Speaker 4: Is it not the Wrecking Crew? Is it the Wrecking Crew?
- 5:10Speaker 4: So there was a comic about the crew that came
- 5:12Speaker 4: up and cleaned up after all the shit that would
- 5:17Speaker 4: happen to the city when the Avengers would roll through
- 5:20Speaker 4: with some villain and... You know, buildings topple over. There's
- 5:23Speaker 4: like a cleanup crew that essentially comes in after them
- 5:26Speaker 4: and assesses all the damage. They're kind of.
- 5:29Speaker 7: Start the bill.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:30Speaker 1: It's $ 14 billion, Tony.
- 5:32Speaker 7: Would you write us a check?
- 5:34Speaker 4: They're kind of like an offshoot of S.H.I.E.L.D., but not
- 5:37Speaker 4: exactly with S.H.I.E.L.D. And their whole point is just to
- 5:40Speaker 4: get things put back together.
- 5:45Speaker 7: That would suck.
- 5:45Speaker 4: There was a short series about that group.
- 5:47Speaker 7: Sucky job.
- 5:48Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 5:49Speaker 1: You've always got guaranteed work coming in because they are
- 5:51Speaker 1: breaking shit in every movie.
- 5:52Speaker 4: No doubt.
- 5:53Speaker 7: Yeah, that would have been a fun angle in a
- 5:55Speaker 7: Civil War movie. Like, look, these guys, they have so
- 5:58Speaker 7: much cleaning to do because of you.
- 6:00Speaker 4: I think someone actually threw out a show pitch for
- 6:06Speaker 4: this group that hasn't been picked up yet, if it may.
- 6:11Speaker 4: For just the, you know, what happens to all the
- 6:14Speaker 4: leftovers when everybody rolls through and busts up the city.
- 6:17Speaker 7: It's kind of in the same ballpark as Powers a little,
- 6:19Speaker 7: because wasn't Powers just about, like, the average detective dudes
- 6:22Speaker 7: kind of, like, looking into, like, all the, like, side
- 6:26Speaker 7: effects of everything, like, heroes do? I don't think it was, like,
- 6:28Speaker 7: about them going after superheroes, but, like, everyone to superheroes, like,
- 6:33Speaker 7: fucked up. It was like, oh, we need to go, like,
- 6:35Speaker 7: take care of all these people. I didn't watch it,
- 6:37Speaker 7: but I like, I read about it. Cause it was,
- 6:38Speaker 7: it was, I'm forgetting the comic names. It was like,
- 6:40Speaker 7: Oh boy, I wrote it. It was like good, but
- 6:42Speaker 7: it was like, I don't know if I want to
- 6:44Speaker 7: watch a detective show about them, like hunting people affiliated
- 6:48Speaker 7: with super villains, but not the actual super villains.
- 6:50Speaker 1: It was weird.
- 6:51Speaker 7: They wanted to do that one notch away. Like it
- 6:53Speaker 7: was still, yeah, it was, it was very weird. It
- 6:56Speaker 7: was like, they wanted to go, well, we're still in
- 6:57Speaker 7: that universe, but we're not actually going to directly connect
- 7:00Speaker 7: with them.
- 7:01Speaker 4: And it's like, We're going to go for the guys
- 7:02Speaker 4: that we can manage.
- 7:03Speaker 1: I would think it'd be pretty easy to outsmart the minions.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Just saying. They keep bumping into walls and shit. I
- 7:09Speaker 1: think we can pin these guys down.
- 7:10Speaker 7: I think that's what doesn't sell it for me on
- 7:14Speaker 7: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It's like, I get that you're in
- 7:16Speaker 7: that same mythos, but it's just not directly connected enough
- 7:19Speaker 7: to hold my interest. Even with this new....
- 7:24Speaker 4: There's so many things that happen and they just don't
- 7:26Speaker 4: cross over enough into the movies for it to really matter.
- 7:29Speaker 1: To be that what should be connected. Like it'd be
- 7:32Speaker 1: different if it was just in the same universe and
- 7:34Speaker 1: this was a totally different, but I mean, it's still
- 7:36Speaker 1: the same group. Like they should be completely interconnected and
- 7:40Speaker 1: they aren't because they can't afford to be.
- 7:42Speaker 7: I think there was a long, and I'm just, just
- 7:44Speaker 7: me just as a person that reads, I don't know
- 7:46Speaker 7: that this was like this, but I think it was
- 7:48Speaker 7: initially meant to kind of be a, a bookmark for
- 7:53Speaker 7: like after infinity wars. I think they wanted to do
- 7:55Speaker 7: the inhuman stuff and, Because there was a dated Inhumans movie,
- 7:59Speaker 7: then they took that date away. And I think Agents
- 8:01Speaker 7: of S.H.I.E.L.D., because they were dealing with that. So I
- 8:02Speaker 7: thought maybe Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was like on the side,
- 8:05Speaker 7: going to start this Inhumans stuff. And then when Thanos happened,
- 8:08Speaker 7: then it would like come to the forefront, like, oh
- 8:10Speaker 7: my gosh, Inhumans. And that was, I think, going to
- 8:12Speaker 7: be like the next arc. But if it is that way,
- 8:16Speaker 7: they put it on the shelf.
- 8:17Speaker 4: To help the world fight Thanos kind of thing.
- 8:20Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 8:21Speaker 4: I thought it was going to be something like that too.
- 8:22Speaker 7: Because they hinted at Inhumans. Well, they were talking about
- 8:24Speaker 7: Inhumans on the TV show. And I'm like, this is crazy.
- 8:26Speaker 7: You're talking about Inhumans here. You haven't even mentioned them
- 8:29Speaker 7: in the theatrical universe.
- 8:30Speaker 4: And he has this plan for like 2028 for an
- 8:32Speaker 4: Inhumans movie.
- 8:34Speaker 7: Man, I remember that calendar. I had like 20 superhero
- 8:36Speaker 7: movies over the next 10 years. I'm like, how?
- 8:39Speaker 4: Just how?
- 8:39Speaker 1: You have to plan ahead.
- 8:41Speaker 7: But I mean, you got to give it to them like,
- 8:43Speaker 7: I saw some snippets today that was like, this is
- 8:47Speaker 7: the 14th Marvel movie, and it's the 14th Marvel movie
- 8:50Speaker 7: to be number one opening weekend. They're still doing it.
- 8:54Speaker 7: Even if it's getting pretty formulaic now, it's like they're
- 8:57Speaker 7: still doing it.
- 8:58Speaker 1: There was an old guy next to me at the
- 9:00Speaker 1: theater this weekend, and the double stinger comes on, and
- 9:04Speaker 1: everybody's like, all right. No, we got that last stinger.
- 9:07Speaker 7: Well, he got up and went.
- 9:08Speaker 1: I didn't really see him doing a sequel. I was like,
- 9:11Speaker 1: all right, for an old guy, that was pretty funny.
- 9:13Speaker 1: I was like, I was like kind of surprised he
- 9:16Speaker 1: was even there when he sat down. Cause he was
- 9:18Speaker 1: like easily like 60s, you know?
- 9:21Speaker 7: I had a couple really old people in front of
- 9:23Speaker 7: me too, where I was like asking myself, I was like,
- 9:25Speaker 7: you don't have kids with you. You are here to
- 9:27Speaker 7: see this Doctor Strange movie.
- 9:28Speaker 1: He was there by himself and then made a smart-ass comment.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I was like, good going, buddy.
- 9:33Speaker 5: That's fun.
- 9:34Speaker 4: So are we in Doctor Strange spoiler territory now?
- 9:37Speaker 1: Not officially.
- 9:38Speaker 7: I'm ready to do Luke Cage when we can get
- 9:40Speaker 7: spoilery on it because it's hard not to talk about
- 9:43Speaker 7: the last half of that show.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I mean, that was my main thing, though. It's just
- 9:46Speaker 1: like looking at it from a structural standpoint, which, again,
- 9:48Speaker 1: I will come back to in the other one. But
- 9:50Speaker 1: that's the thing I want to give them mostly on
- 9:52Speaker 1: this one is how many... Mostly because I'm comparing it
- 9:55Speaker 1: to a lot of crap that's on network television. I'm like,
- 9:57Speaker 1: there's a lot of... Because that's when we also have...
- 9:59Speaker 1: so many like cops that come into it. And we
- 10:02Speaker 1: have like we have Misty Knight, but then we have
- 10:04Speaker 1: the Inspector Ridley, the whole second half, who's like, again,
- 10:08Speaker 1: you assume she's going to be the same jackass, you know.
- 10:10Speaker 1: internal affairs whoever's gonna come down on her but she
- 10:13Speaker 1: ends up being a real.
- 10:14Speaker 7: Cop she was good about playing the line because she
- 10:16Speaker 7: first came in like oh she's gonna she's gonna bust
- 10:18Speaker 7: her ovaries for the rest of the season and then
- 10:20Speaker 7: like she kind of ends up kind of being with
- 10:22Speaker 7: her later i'm like oh well i don't know i
- 10:24Speaker 7: mean you know she just seems fair yeah she seemed
- 10:27Speaker 7: legit fair i thought she was gonna be like the
- 10:28Speaker 7: overbearing and she was she was kind of down the
- 10:31Speaker 7: middle like even sure when she needed it.
- 10:32Speaker 1: And rewarded her when she deserved the captain she had
- 10:35Speaker 1: before her too like they were all like super smart
- 10:38Speaker 1: and well written and i'm just like There's a lot
- 10:40Speaker 1: of cop shows out there on network television. And, like,
- 10:44Speaker 1: so many times, like, all of the main characters will
- 10:47Speaker 1: be just kind of by-the-numbers bullshit. Like, they all insert
- 10:51Speaker 1: the same dumb interactions you have to have before the
- 10:53Speaker 1: main dead person plot comes into play. And that's it.
- 10:56Speaker 1: And that's all they do. And worst of that is, like,
- 10:59Speaker 1: the female characters always get the short end of the stick. Like,
- 11:04Speaker 1: one of them.
- 11:05Speaker 7: I guess I won't out them.
- 11:06Speaker 1: I don't really care. I don't really watch it. But
- 11:07Speaker 1: one of them, like, they specifically... the producers between seasons
- 11:12Speaker 1: swapped out all the female characters for new women and
- 11:15Speaker 1: assumed they were like, eh, nobody will notice.
- 11:17Speaker 7: Nobody will care, basically. What is this?
- 11:20Speaker 1: Fuck you.
- 11:21Speaker 7: I'm trying to think which one.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Was it Criminal Minds, maybe?
- 11:25Speaker 7: It was the same characters in the show, but different
- 11:27Speaker 7: women playing them? No, they just brought in new people.
- 11:30Speaker 8: They were just completely unimportant.
- 11:32Speaker 7: Yeah, they were not. Oh my gosh. We already have
- 11:34Speaker 7: our main.
- 11:34Speaker 4: So they filled... Fill character archetypes.
- 11:37Speaker 1: We have three female people.
- 11:39Speaker 7: We can put three other female people.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Who cares?
- 11:42Speaker 7: We just have spots to fill. They don't even have names.
- 11:44Speaker 1: They're just generic.
- 11:45Speaker 8: One, number two.
- 11:47Speaker 1: And they'd been on there for several seasons, too. And
- 11:49Speaker 1: I'm like, it's not like they were unproven. They'd been
- 11:51Speaker 1: on there. They'd convinced everyone they were good enough characters
- 11:54Speaker 1: to be there. And then they just recycled them out.
- 11:56Speaker 1: And then I was thinking, that I started noticing, too.
- 11:59Speaker 1: I don't think Blue Bloods is a bad show.
- 12:02Speaker 6: But.
- 12:03Speaker 1: every season they keep swapping out Donnie with a new
- 12:08Speaker 1: female cop. And I'm like, well, the first one's really good.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Like she actually had character. She was well written.
- 12:13Speaker 7: And then after that, I'm like, what.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Are the odds? You're always going to get a female cop,
- 12:17Speaker 1: except it's the demographic you need to hit to keep
- 12:20Speaker 1: this little scenario going in your written screenplay. Like that's
- 12:23Speaker 1: the part that gets on my nerves. I'm like, Okay,
- 12:25Speaker 1: the first time it just happened, that's his partner. But
- 12:28Speaker 1: when every time they have to put another.
- 12:30Speaker 7: It's not, like, mandatory that he needs a female partner.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'm like, that doesn't even make sense in
- 12:34Speaker 1: the real world. I'm guessing, statistically speaking, it's still less
- 12:38Speaker 1: likely that you would get another female.
- 12:40Speaker 7: Cop, so.
- 12:41Speaker 1: It just seems forced. Especially when it's like a two
- 12:46Speaker 1: or threefer.
- 12:47Speaker 8: It'll be like, it's the only woman, it's the only
- 12:49Speaker 8: person of color, and they're gay.
- 12:51Speaker 7: They own the one character.
- 12:54Speaker 4: They do that with Grey's Anatomy, too.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:57Speaker 4: It's like, oh, we're missing this demographic?
- 13:00Speaker 7: It's all over.
- 13:01Speaker 4: Here's another rando doctor show.
- 13:03Speaker 1: And you're missing a link. good enough like we we
- 13:06Speaker 1: can cram as many different things on this one character
- 13:09Speaker 1: to fill everything we need i just watching network stuff
- 13:12Speaker 1: that always seems to be a weak spot is like
- 13:14Speaker 1: in general dialogue and character development's kind of iffy but
- 13:18Speaker 1: the women always get screwed over especially in these cop
- 13:21Speaker 1: shows so watching how well they develop the and again
- 13:25Speaker 1: it's just 13 episodes it's not like they've been doing
- 13:27Speaker 1: it for years it's in one little series and all
- 13:31Speaker 1: of these characters in general but specifically these female characters
- 13:34Speaker 1: are really well developed and i'm like see you can
- 13:37Speaker 1: do it you're just lazy network.
- 13:38Speaker 8: Television and it makes the whole show better it makes everything.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Better they're all so good i'm like again even the
- 13:44Speaker 1: ones i don't love like the inspector lady i'm like
- 13:46Speaker 1: i don't love her but because she's well written i
- 13:50Speaker 1: respect her i'm like i'm glad to see her in
- 13:52Speaker 1: scenes when she's there because she's it's a good performance
- 13:55Speaker 1: and it's well written like that's I could care less
- 13:58Speaker 1: about shit on network television for that very reason. Like,
- 14:01Speaker 1: they just half-ass it. So, that was my main thing
- 14:05Speaker 1: I noticed going into it.
- 14:06Speaker 7: But we still need, we still need one being a star.
- 14:09Speaker 7: That's what bugs me. I mean, we'll finally, with Wonder Woman,
- 14:11Speaker 7: finally have a female hero, like, leading the movie. But,
- 14:15Speaker 7: I mean, even in a Marvel universe, it's going to
- 14:17Speaker 7: be a couple years until you get Ms.
- 14:18Speaker 4: Marvel.
- 14:19Speaker 7: Like, we still have great, great co-stars, but when are
- 14:23Speaker 7: we going to get a strong female star with the power?
- 14:26Speaker 4: Like, Well, that's one of the big problems, I guess.
- 14:28Speaker 4: I mean, even by itself with Marvel. I mean, you
- 14:32Speaker 4: go even across the years, there aren't really a lot
- 14:34Speaker 4: of singular, stand-alone female characters that pop in your head
- 14:39Speaker 4: outside of Ms.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Marvel.
- 14:41Speaker 4: And that's only because she's just been around.
- 14:42Speaker 6: In the past.
- 14:43Speaker 7: In the X-Men universe, I feel like X-Men did really well,
- 14:45Speaker 7: especially in the 90s and making women strong. But more recently.
- 14:49Speaker 4: But they were still never ever by themselves, though.
- 14:51Speaker 7: No.
- 14:51Speaker 6: No.
- 14:52Speaker 1: I still love what they've done with Black Widow. I
- 14:54Speaker 1: think she's got so much potential to be her own star.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Have you heard the rumor?
- 14:58Speaker 7: Not on Widow, but I hope we'll tie into Willow.
- 15:00Speaker 7: They're talking about, I guess because they still don't feel
- 15:04Speaker 7: like Hawkeye could carry a movie either.
- 15:05Speaker 4: They're talking about... I don't think Hawkeye could carry a
- 15:09Speaker 4: movie by himself.
- 15:09Speaker 7: Black Widow could.
- 15:10Speaker 4: They don't even know if Black Widow could carry a
- 15:13Speaker 4: movie by herself.
- 15:14Speaker 7: Hawkeye netflix and you put black widow in there sold
- 15:17Speaker 7: i'll watch 12 episodes of the two of them well
- 15:19Speaker 7: yeah so i feel like that'd be a great twofer
- 15:22Speaker 7: let it be a co-lead don't make it like hawkeye
- 15:25Speaker 7: with black widow have it be hawkeye and black widow
- 15:28Speaker 7: yeah them doing stuff even if you want to go
- 15:30Speaker 7: old school and show them like the missions and stuff
- 15:31Speaker 7: that they joke about just give me 12 episodes of
- 15:34Speaker 7: those two and i will i will absorb it it
- 15:36Speaker 7: will be great i don't know if it could be
- 15:39Speaker 7: a movie But I do want to see more of
- 15:41Speaker 7: those characters, especially when they interact with each other.
- 15:43Speaker 4: I think it would serve better as a show than
- 15:44Speaker 4: just a two-hour plot.
- 15:45Speaker 1: It would probably work better, too. I think you would
- 15:48Speaker 1: get a better response from people. That's a tall order
- 15:51Speaker 1: to get people to run out and go see Opening Weekend, probably.
- 15:54Speaker 1: But just popping up on Netflix, you're probably going to
- 15:57Speaker 1: get a good response to it.
- 15:58Speaker 7: You could write something new with it. You could do
- 15:59Speaker 7: a more Mission Impossible feel. Where it's just hyper-espionage kind
- 16:03Speaker 7: of stuff. That's a whole new... motif for what we've
- 16:07Speaker 7: seen so far. It works really well. That's what makes
- 16:10Speaker 7: the Captain America one so successful. It feels like such
- 16:13Speaker 7: a smart international conspiracy diplomatic kind of stuff. It's a
- 16:19Speaker 7: different thing than Hulk and Thor. It could be something different.
- 16:24Speaker 4: Hawkeye as the dude James Bond.
- 16:25Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Is he really? And I like him, but.
- 16:30Speaker 8: I don't think he's charismatic enough.
- 16:32Speaker 7: Yeah, it's like he's... He tries.
- 16:34Speaker 1: He works really well as that supporting character.
- 16:37Speaker 7: Like, he literally, especially because... I feel like he's Joss Whedon.
- 16:40Speaker 7: I feel like he's Joss Whedon writing himself into the show.
- 16:42Speaker 7: He's like, this is what I would say in this.
- 16:44Speaker 7: You know, so it's like, here's Hawkeye. To say my
- 16:46Speaker 7: lines in the middle.
- 16:48Speaker 5: Of all this stuff.
- 16:48Speaker 4: Oh, can you imagine the actual Joss Whedon, like, legit
- 16:52Speaker 4: espionage show? But just written in the style of Joss Whedon,
- 16:57Speaker 4: it would be quite interesting.
- 17:01Speaker 7: I just want him to write something.
- 17:02Speaker 4: The closest he's gotten so far is Dollhouse. But it
- 17:07Speaker 4: has its own weird little quirks. But even still.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm okay with it.
- 17:13Speaker 7: I wish he'd come back. I don't want him to
- 17:15Speaker 7: do another movie. I want him to do something he'd
- 17:17Speaker 7: be comfortable with. But you cannot tell me there's not
- 17:20Speaker 7: something comic book-wise Joss Whedon couldn't come back and do.
- 17:22Speaker 7: Whether it be Netflix... Or, I mean, I don't know,
- 17:25Speaker 7: do some, I don't want to say S.H.I.E.L.D. Nothing against S.H.I.E.L.D.
- 17:30Speaker 7: I hear it's great now. I tried season one, and
- 17:31Speaker 7: it didn't grab me at all.
- 17:33Speaker 5: Like, at all.
- 17:33Speaker 7: I found myself watching it, because I was telling myself
- 17:36Speaker 7: I needed to watch it.
- 17:37Speaker 4: It's stagnant right now. Like, the whole Ghost.
- 17:41Speaker 7: Rider storyline that's going through. And it wasn't even, like,
- 17:43Speaker 7: classic Ghost Rider. They went with the Ghost Rider in
- 17:45Speaker 7: a car, and I'm like, I still feel like you're
- 17:47Speaker 7: not really giving us Ghost Rider. You gave us the
- 17:50Speaker 7: poor man's Ghost Rider, like, can't afford it that's kind
- 17:53Speaker 7: of part of the problem but well you know the
- 17:56Speaker 7: fact that now as we're about to talk about now
- 17:58Speaker 7: that we have a dr strange magic element like it
- 18:02Speaker 7: wouldn't hurt to bring in the demon aspect you know
- 18:05Speaker 7: but better than a b grade ghost rider give me
- 18:09Speaker 7: a real ghost rider going to hell and showing you
- 18:11Speaker 7: that whole dimension i mean i feel like they could
- 18:13Speaker 7: do that now now that you've you know, introduced magic
- 18:18Speaker 7: in all these realms and stuff. Now you go, well,
- 18:19Speaker 7: there is like a hell realm too. And that's where
- 18:21Speaker 7: Ghost Rider comes from. I feel like maybe they kind
- 18:25Speaker 7: of jumped the gun on that, trying to charge agents
- 18:27Speaker 7: of shield somehow.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Isn't that where Angel went?
- 18:30Speaker 7: Let's cross this all together. Let's get Joss in on this.
- 18:33Speaker 6: Oh, right.
- 18:34Speaker 7: I want Angel to come out of the hell dimension.
- 18:36Speaker 4: I mean, Buffy went there too.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Buffy to kick ass with Black Widow. Yeah, I want
- 18:41Speaker 1: all these crossing out. Disney owns everything, right? Don't they
- 18:45Speaker 1: own Joss and everything he's ever thought about?
- 18:46Speaker 7: How about we take a Ghost Rider-Buffy crossover? That could
- 18:48Speaker 7: be interesting.
- 18:49Speaker 1: I'm okay with that.
- 18:50Speaker 4: I think Buffy's, what, Warner Brothers?
- 18:52Speaker 1: I think it used to be. I don't know if
- 18:54Speaker 1: it's changed hands in the 40 or 50 different buyouts
- 18:57Speaker 1: that have happened since the Buffy days, but no telling.
- 19:00Speaker 7: Do you think that remake will happen? just out of
- 19:02Speaker 7: remake fears. Do you think eventually someone's going to go
- 19:05Speaker 7: remake Buffy? It itself was a remake.
- 19:07Speaker 1: So, I mean, I can't, you can't really complain about it.
- 19:11Speaker 1: You don't know what's going to happen.
- 19:11Speaker 4: Somebody's going to like what they saw with, with the
- 19:14Speaker 4: remake show of Buffy and want to bring that back
- 19:17Speaker 4: into a remake version of the old movie. But with the,
- 19:21Speaker 4: with the show lore, it's better.
- 19:24Speaker 1: I'm okay with it but.
- 19:25Speaker 7: If somebody useful did it i'm okay.
- 19:28Speaker 4: If they do something interesting like bring back the master
- 19:31Speaker 4: in it that might be a fun movie or do
- 19:34Speaker 4: something as crazy as the first evil it could be
- 19:37Speaker 4: a fun movie but if it doesn't have that joss
- 19:40Speaker 4: whedon feel right it has to have his writing yeah
- 19:43Speaker 4: it's gonna lose everything that it was ever meant to
- 19:45Speaker 4: be and paul.
- 19:46Speaker 5: Rubens you have to have Paul Rubens.
- 19:52Speaker 7: That death scene is still going on right now.
- 19:55Speaker 4: Right now.
- 20:01Speaker 1: You're going to wish you died.
- 20:30Speaker 3: Refresh yourself.
- 20:31Speaker 4: It's intermission time.
- 20:33Speaker 3: The concession stand is open and ready to serve you.
- 20:37Speaker 5: These women have just seen their doctor.
- 20:41Speaker 9: Doctor Death.
- 20:44Speaker 4: He stalks the city through the dark of night.
- 20:46Speaker 9: I think somebody's coming toward my apartment.
- 20:49Speaker 4: He has powers more terrible than any man who ever lived.
- 20:55Speaker 5: Don't answer your doorbell.
- 20:56Speaker 7: What do you want?
- 20:57Speaker 5: It may be Doctor Death. Making a house call.
- 21:01Speaker 8: Rated R.
- 21:02Speaker 5: Restricted. Under 17.
- 21:03Speaker 4: Not admitted without parent.

- 22:14Speaker 7: I'm Jenna Bush and you're listening to Movie Meltdown. Did
- 22:27Speaker 7: you guys see the new Wonder Woman trailer? Did you
- 22:29Speaker 7: get that before Doctor Strange?
- 22:30Speaker 1: I did not.
- 22:31Speaker 4: I did not either.
- 22:32Speaker 7: I think I'm still optimistic. Zach has burnt me just
- 22:36Speaker 7: about every time, but I'm still.
- 22:39Speaker 4: At this point.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Just about.
- 22:41Speaker 7: I mean, you got Jeff Johns is like roping him
- 22:45Speaker 7: in or whatever, but Zach, I believe, is still the director.
- 22:49Speaker 11: Well, so they did actually sign on a new director
- 22:52Speaker 11: only two days after we reported that Michelle McLaren had
- 22:55Speaker 11: left the project. They got Patty Jenkins, who originally was
- 23:00Speaker 11: signed up to direct Thor The Dark World before she
- 23:02Speaker 11: was replaced by Alan Taylor.
- 23:04Speaker 7: That's where I'm just like, until I see it, I
- 23:07Speaker 7: can't fully trust it. But second trailer still looks optimistic
- 23:12Speaker 7: to me. I'm still kind of... I just worry about
- 23:16Speaker 7: him more than anybody. Like I said, I'll get duped
- 23:18Speaker 7: again probably.
- 23:19Speaker 1: That's the only potential hazard, having him as a director.
- 23:24Speaker 4: I mean, I guess it can't be worse than Batman vs.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Superman.
- 23:28Speaker 4: Don't invite it.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Don't invite it.
- 23:30Speaker 7: You just created another timeline.
- 23:33Speaker 4: And it can't be worse than anything Aquaman could be.
- 23:38Speaker 1: But now he's angsty Aquaman.
- 23:40Speaker 7: I heard he wants to be the crow now too.
- 23:43Speaker 7: Or that they're looking at him to be the crow
- 23:45Speaker 7: because that crow remake is still up and down for
- 23:47Speaker 7: like the last 10 years. But now they're talking about
- 23:50Speaker 7: You want a big Hawaiian dude to play Eric Draven.
- 23:53Speaker 1: He was like 20, 20, 21.
- 23:54Speaker 7: He was like.
- 23:57Speaker 1: He's pushing it.
- 23:58Speaker 7: If not, the crow is one of those ones where
- 24:00Speaker 7: it's like, it's going to happen eventually, but I don't
- 24:04Speaker 7: want him.
- 24:04Speaker 1: To enjoy the crow three for all your extra crow
- 24:09Speaker 1: story needs or no four is the way to go.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Have you seen four?
- 24:13Speaker 7: I didn't even know there was a four.
- 24:14Speaker 6: Oh yeah.
- 24:15Speaker 7: There's four.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Like three is almost watchable as I remember it a
- 24:18Speaker 1: long damn time ago. Four. Go ahead and put that
- 24:21Speaker 1: on the list of shit we need to watch because
- 24:24Speaker 1: it is, like, two just makes me angry. Two is
- 24:26Speaker 1: just a bastardization. Four is, like, train wreck level of
- 24:32Speaker 1: what the fuck is on the screen right now? Like,
- 24:35Speaker 1: it has the weirdest cast.
- 24:37Speaker 4: It is the story.
- 24:38Speaker 7: Was four the one with Tara Reid?
- 24:39Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 24:40Speaker 7: Among other people. I think we worked at Suncoast when
- 24:43Speaker 7: I was in production. I remember, like, reading about it.
- 24:46Speaker 7: I'm like, no.
- 24:47Speaker 1: No.
- 24:48Speaker 7: You don't get any of my money. I don't even
- 24:50Speaker 7: want to see that in any way or form.
- 24:52Speaker 1: It's worth watching for the sheer what-the-fuck value, because it
- 24:56Speaker 1: is so ridiculous.
- 24:57Speaker 4: Are we talking, like, DOA-level ridiculous?
- 25:01Speaker 7: I mean, that is the one that had the kid
- 25:03Speaker 7: from Terminator. Well, it had Angel in it, right?
- 25:05Speaker 1: Wasn't it Angel?
- 25:06Speaker 7: Yeah, and it's ridiculous. I remember just reading the cast
- 25:09Speaker 7: and the synopsis.
- 25:10Speaker 1: I was like, no.
- 25:11Speaker 7: I'm pretty sure Dennis Hopper makes it. It was like
- 25:13Speaker 7: a farm boy becomes a crow, like a farm boy
- 25:15Speaker 7: becomes a crow.
- 25:16Speaker 1: It's so ridiculous. Oh no, we need to add that
- 25:19Speaker 1: to our list. But that is not this week's movie.
- 25:24Speaker 1: This week we went out on the town. Doesn't happen
- 25:27Speaker 1: for geeks very often.
- 25:29Speaker 5: Get more out of life. Go out to a movie.
- 25:36Speaker 3: You think you know how the world works?
- 25:46Speaker 6: You think that this material universe is all there is.
- 25:50Speaker 6: But what if I told you the reality you know.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Is one of many?
- 25:55Speaker 3: What the?
- 26:00Speaker 1: This doesn't make any sense.
- 26:02Speaker 6: Not everything has to, Dr.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Strange.
- 26:06Speaker 6: Through the mystic arts, we harness energy and shape reality.
- 26:13Speaker 4: The Avengers protect the world from physical dangers. We safeguarded
- 26:18Speaker 4: against more mystical threats.
- 26:21Speaker 5: Come with me.
- 26:22Speaker 3: You'll die protecting this world, Mr.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Doctor.
- 26:33Speaker 5: Mr.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Doctor, it's strange.
- 26:35Speaker 5: Maybe.
- 26:35Speaker 4: Who am I to judge?
- 26:41Speaker 1: This week's movie is Doctor Strange. The year is obviously 2016.
- 26:45Speaker 1: The director, Scott Derrickson, and the plot, according to IMDb,
- 26:50Speaker 1: if you want to call this a plot, a former
- 26:53Speaker 1: neurosurgeon embarks on a journey of healing only to be
- 26:56Speaker 1: drawn into the world of the mystic arts. That's barely even.
- 27:00Speaker 7: A, that's one single thing.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Yeah, that's not even a description. Spoiler alert! I'm sure
- 27:06Speaker 1: we're going to ruin the hell out of this movie.
- 27:09Speaker 1: You have been warned.
- 27:10Speaker 7: It won't be that bad. I can't even nitpick this movie.
- 27:15Speaker 4: I almost went in looking to try to nitpick it.
- 27:19Speaker 7: I can't.
- 27:21Speaker 4: But I also don't know enough about the whole of
- 27:25Speaker 4: the strange story.
- 27:27Speaker 7: We were talking about that before.
- 27:28Speaker 1: I think I came in the same way you did
- 27:30Speaker 1: without any real backstory at all. I didn't read that comic.
- 27:34Speaker 1: I didn't know much about him other than he had
- 27:37Speaker 1: that like he always had kind of a 70s vibe
- 27:39Speaker 1: about him yeah just the look and the outfit and
- 27:41Speaker 1: the hair and like he was just kind of the
- 27:43Speaker 1: medallion i mean dude's got a big old medallion so
- 27:45Speaker 1: i mean he had a very cool 70s dude vibe
- 27:48Speaker 1: going on so i'm like all right whatever but this
- 27:52Speaker 1: is like i can't tear it apart kind of attack
- 27:57Speaker 1: it my take as i walked out of the theater
- 27:59Speaker 1: was And I was like, but it's really well made.
- 28:05Speaker 1: It's the most impressive meh I've ever seen. Because I
- 28:09Speaker 1: just didn't really care one way or the other. But
- 28:12Speaker 1: it was all well done along the way. So that's
- 28:15Speaker 1: why I was like, I was going to throw out
- 28:17Speaker 1: a lot of options to you guys.
- 28:18Speaker 4: It just wasn't overwhelming.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm so like, I'm not engaged in any of it,
- 28:23Speaker 1: I think is the problem.
- 28:24Speaker 8: Doctor Strange was not strange enough. It's supposed to be
- 28:27Speaker 8: so much weirder than that, I felt like.
- 28:30Speaker 4: So we need Stanley Kubrick making this movie.
- 28:32Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah.
- 28:33Speaker 8: We need Super Bizarro. I don't just need the Inception graphics.
- 28:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:39Speaker 9: Oh, yeah.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Definitely.
- 28:41Speaker 4: Or Guillermo del Toro, not Benicio.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 28:44Speaker 8: Well, also Benicio.
- 28:45Speaker 1: I was going to say, he'd be an odd choice
- 28:46Speaker 1: for Doctor Strange.
- 28:47Speaker 7: I mean, I'm okay with that. He is the collector,
- 28:49Speaker 7: so he's going to find his.
- 28:50Speaker 9: Way in there anyway.
- 28:50Speaker 4: The collector is Doctor Strange.
- 28:51Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 28:52Speaker 8: But yeah, some kind of Guillermo aesthetics to that movie
- 28:54Speaker 8: would have really, I don't know, it would have made
- 28:56Speaker 8: it so much more magical and just odd. But it
- 29:00Speaker 8: was still super mainstream Avengers movie, but also kind of weird.
- 29:05Speaker 8: I guess these graphics are really strange and these visuals
- 29:09Speaker 8: are weird, but that's the weirdest thing about it.
- 29:11Speaker 4: I mean, his little trip through... Through the mystic dimensions
- 29:16Speaker 4: of the multiverse was about as weird as it got.
- 29:18Speaker 4: It was kind of interesting.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Are we talking at the end?
- 29:20Speaker 4: No, no.
- 29:21Speaker 9: Okay.
- 29:22Speaker 4: At the beginning.
- 29:22Speaker 7: At the beginning when he's just zipping around.
- 29:24Speaker 4: When the ancient one's like, all right, look, check this out.
- 29:26Speaker 4: You don't believe me? Here you go. Let's take a trip.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Whoosh.
- 29:29Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 29:29Speaker 1: It's just like a travel agent. Yeah.
- 29:32Speaker 8: It reminds me of the interstellar going into the black hole.
- 29:35Speaker 8: like visuals, like everything gets all.
- 29:36Speaker 1: Like, see now that is pretty weird actually. I mean,
- 29:39Speaker 1: especially for that time period and that type of movie
- 29:42Speaker 1: up to that point, like we never got that level
- 29:44Speaker 1: of strange in Dr. Strange. It's always just kind of like,
- 29:48Speaker 1: here's some cool visuals, right? Like, I just felt like
- 29:50Speaker 1: the whole time they were just, that was my thing.
- 29:52Speaker 1: As we get into these crazy visuals and they were
- 29:55Speaker 1: all really well done, but I'm like, remember when every
- 29:58Speaker 1: time they come out with a new form of technology,
- 30:01Speaker 1: you know, your new Blu-ray comes out, you get a
- 30:04Speaker 1: test disc that shows you the most impressive graphics you
- 30:08Speaker 1: can get. There was one that used to go, like,
- 30:10Speaker 1: every store, every electronic store is running it on a
- 30:12Speaker 1: loop all day long to show these new high-def TVs
- 30:14Speaker 1: or their new Blu-ray player, whatever the new HD technology is.
- 30:18Speaker 1: There's some, like, test thing. I feel like that's what
- 30:21Speaker 1: I was watching for most of that time. I'm just like,
- 30:23Speaker 1: this is all really impressive, but I don't really care.
- 30:26Speaker 4: I think his little jaunt through the multiverse is probably
- 30:29Speaker 4: about as weird as they could have taken it for
- 30:32Speaker 4: about as long in the movie to still keep people interested, like,
- 30:34Speaker 4: the general public interested in being.
- 30:38Speaker 4: Hooked to the rest of.
- 30:40Speaker 12: The story and yet i wasn't i think there's a
- 30:43Speaker 12: level there's still a level that if they'd have kept
- 30:46Speaker 12: that that whole vibe the whole movie people would have
- 30:49Speaker 12: just clocked out halfway through and been like screw this.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Just story-wise i was just like i don't i'm and
- 30:56Speaker 1: that's my thing that's what i started realizing and i've
- 30:59Speaker 1: brought it up on previous superhero episodes.
- 31:02Speaker 7: I'm like the further you get away.
- 31:04Speaker 1: From some sort of humanity, the less and less engaged
- 31:08Speaker 1: I am with you. That's why I've said on the
- 31:10Speaker 1: other ones, the character I could care less about in
- 31:13Speaker 1: most of the Marvel stuff is Thor. Now, luckily, I
- 31:16Speaker 1: like that actor, so he saves the role, but as
- 31:19Speaker 1: a character, he's a god. He's damn near infallible as
- 31:22Speaker 1: far as powers go, so I'm just like, why do
- 31:26Speaker 1: I care? Whereas, like, Iron Man's a dude in a can.
- 31:30Speaker 1: You know?
- 31:30Speaker 4: Like, he's a real.
- 31:31Speaker 7: Guy who's got real problems.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Like, he's just dealing with so much shit in the
- 31:37Speaker 1: real world that I'm like, okay.
- 31:38Speaker 7: I get this guy.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Like, it's the same thing with, you know, crossover into
- 31:41Speaker 1: the Batman. Like, it's that same thing. Like, this guy's
- 31:44Speaker 1: got shit going on. And then, like, he might die.
- 31:48Speaker 4: Doctor Strange is kind of in the same way. Because,
- 31:50Speaker 4: I mean, for all the mystical, magical stuff that he knows,
- 31:53Speaker 4: he is... also still just a dude who has a
- 31:56Speaker 4: good memory.
- 31:57Speaker 1: I don't dislike that performance, though. I think Cumberbatch does
- 32:02Speaker 1: a good job with it, but again, I think it's more,
- 32:04Speaker 1: and again, it may just be me. I just may
- 32:07Speaker 1: not respond to this character, and I was thinking maybe
- 32:10Speaker 1: any of the mystical characters, but I like Scarlet Witch.
- 32:13Speaker 1: And I think there's a real humanity to what she's
- 32:16Speaker 1: going with, dealing with her powers, that I didn't really
- 32:19Speaker 1: get with Doctor Strange.
- 32:20Speaker 8: His character isn't tragic enough. It's just like you were
- 32:23Speaker 8: texting and driving and now your hands don't work for who?
- 32:26Speaker 7: That's a lesson for everyone.
- 32:28Speaker 1: You're an arrogant douche.
- 32:30Speaker 4: The very last line of the credits.
- 32:32Speaker 1: By the way, guys, pay attention behind the wheel.
- 32:35Speaker 4: Just saying.
- 32:36Speaker 1: In case you missed the point of this movie, don't
- 32:39Speaker 1: be a dick all the time. I don't know, I
- 32:42Speaker 1: think that was my thing. I was like, I just
- 32:44Speaker 1: don't connect to most of the mystical characters because they're
- 32:48Speaker 1: so detached from humanity on any normal level. So, I mean, again,
- 32:54Speaker 1: that's the one I was like, I was trying to
- 32:55Speaker 1: just go across the board, but I do think her
- 32:57Speaker 1: performance as Scarlet Witch is really good and does lend,
- 33:01Speaker 1: so it kind of throws the monkey wrench in that
- 33:03Speaker 1: across the board. Maybe it's just these versions of Doctor
- 33:06Speaker 1: Strange and Thor I don't care about, but the other
- 33:09Speaker 1: thing I think I found a lot of problem with,
- 33:12Speaker 1: and I'm starting to see this with a lot of
- 33:15Speaker 1: shows outside of this, is when things all of a
- 33:19Speaker 1: sudden don't really have any stakes anymore because they're so weird.
- 33:22Speaker 1: And because the rules are so out the window that
- 33:25Speaker 1: you can kind of come back from anything.
- 33:27Speaker 4: I have a perfect example for you.
- 33:28Speaker 5: All right.
- 33:29Speaker 4: Supergirl.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Probably. I haven't been, I've seen one or two of
- 33:33Speaker 1: this new season, but I didn't watch last season.
- 33:35Speaker 4: The first problem with the show of Supergirl is the
- 33:38Speaker 4: fact that Superman is accessible.
- 33:40Speaker 1: In the world.
- 33:41Speaker 7: And he was just never around up until they cast him.
- 33:43Speaker 4: So there's no real stakes for her. Because if anything,
- 33:47Speaker 4: if it really, really came down to her life, Superman
- 33:50Speaker 4: is going to be there to save her. All they
- 33:52Speaker 4: had to do was just write something in to put
- 33:54Speaker 4: him off world. And that could have handled that for
- 33:57Speaker 4: as long as they needed to.
- 33:59Speaker 1: Yeah, because we don't know what sort of time frame
- 34:01Speaker 1: this takes place in. So they could have had during
- 34:04Speaker 1: that weird in-between period when he was off finding himself.
- 34:08Speaker 1: If we're going in that movie story. He'd be like, oh,
- 34:10Speaker 1: he's wandering around with a beard.
- 34:11Speaker 7: Don't worry about him.
- 34:12Speaker 1: He'll be back later.
- 34:13Speaker 4: Having him off world puts immediate life and death stakes
- 34:17Speaker 4: on anything that Supergirl does because she is as alone
- 34:20Speaker 4: as Superman is at this point. But they never did that.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Now that it's like a buddy cop show.
- 34:25Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Just like, well, now it's kind of more fun. Like
- 34:30Speaker 1: it's made it more of a fun. Again, I only
- 34:32Speaker 1: saw those couple episodes, but I'm like.
- 34:33Speaker 4: It's more fun.
- 34:34Speaker 1: It's enjoyable. But again, it doesn't feel like there's anything big.
- 34:38Speaker 1: To it, it's just sort of a fun little, here
- 34:41Speaker 1: you go. Just watch Alan McBeal for a little while.
- 34:44Speaker 1: I mean, Supergirl, whatever.
- 34:45Speaker 4: Hell, she's off the show right now.
- 34:47Speaker 1: She's finding herself. She's got a new career.
- 34:51Speaker 7: But no, that was mine.
- 34:54Speaker 1: It's one of those same things where I went in
- 34:56Speaker 1: that Legends of Tomorrow or whatever that other show is.
- 34:59Speaker 6: Mm-hmm.
- 35:00Speaker 1: But again, I went into the beginning and I kind
- 35:02Speaker 1: of like that idea. It's like, okay, you're taking Avengers
- 35:05Speaker 1: and Doctor Who and cramming them together and making a
- 35:08Speaker 1: show out of it. I understand your reasoning for creating this.
- 35:11Speaker 1: But midway in, I'm like, all right, I kind of
- 35:13Speaker 1: like this team aspect. I like that they're jumping around
- 35:15Speaker 1: the different plot lines. And then they did some really
- 35:17Speaker 1: interesting stuff like, okay, we're going to kill off this
- 35:20Speaker 1: character who's a regular character. And we wrote them in
- 35:23Speaker 1: and they were important and we killed them. I'm like,
- 35:26Speaker 1: all right, that's a pretty gutsy move, especially for network TV.
- 35:29Speaker 1: That's cool. And then two episodes later, they found a
- 35:32Speaker 1: way to.
- 35:32Speaker 7: Go around it and bring him back. I'm like, no,
- 35:34Speaker 7: fuck that. It's the same.
- 35:35Speaker 4: And that's what I was going to say.
- 35:36Speaker 7: Flashpoint's the same thing. It's only in season two, and
- 35:38Speaker 7: we've already rewritten your timeline like three times.
- 35:41Speaker 3: Yep.
- 35:42Speaker 7: What is your long-term plans? If you are already regurgitating
- 35:45Speaker 7: yourself this much in season two, what is your long-term plans?
- 35:49Speaker 7: If you hadn't chopped the nose off your face to
- 35:52Speaker 7: make this Legends of Tomorrow show and kept the Flash's
- 35:55Speaker 7: rogue gallery, you would have so much opportunity to write,
- 35:59Speaker 7: but you took all his main villains and threw them
- 36:01Speaker 7: over here.
- 36:02Speaker 4: Yeah, Flashpoint could have easily happened like three years from now.
- 36:04Speaker 1: They really jumped into that quick.
- 36:08Speaker 7: I remember as season one was ending, I'm like, you
- 36:11Speaker 7: are not really going to try to do Flashpoint now?
- 36:13Speaker 4: I don't feel I'm as invested as I should be
- 36:17Speaker 4: in the original incarnation of the characters for them to
- 36:20Speaker 4: be so screwed up as they are in Flashpoint. Now
- 36:23Speaker 4: it's like, oh, how are they weird this time?
- 36:25Speaker 1: That's the only thing I will give them credit is
- 36:28Speaker 1: at least this new season, they've stuck with it. They're
- 36:31Speaker 1: just like, No, you've screwed up the timeline and this
- 36:34Speaker 1: is where you are now. Yeah, until he has to
- 36:36Speaker 1: change it. That's what I'm afraid is they're going to
- 36:38Speaker 1: loophole it again.
- 36:38Speaker 7: Until they wipe it again. Like, you know it's coming.
- 36:41Speaker 1: It's like if they did that and just stuck with it,
- 36:43Speaker 1: it'd be like, okay, it shows you that there are
- 36:44Speaker 1: consequences to him doing these stupid superhero things. That's what
- 36:48Speaker 1: I feel like we don't have in so many of these.
- 36:50Speaker 1: It's like every time, and the Marvel Universe is really
- 36:53Speaker 1: bad about that. That was one of my things I
- 36:55Speaker 1: kept calling out. Like, stop killing characters and then taking
- 36:58Speaker 1: it away from us. There's a reason I don't want
- 37:00Speaker 1: to watch agents of shield.
- 37:01Speaker 7: It's because the guy is dead. We killed him in Avengers.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Don't bring him back with your stupid bullshit reasons.
- 37:07Speaker 7: The whole reason the end of that movie works.
- 37:10Speaker 1: But it gave the whole end of that movie stakes
- 37:13Speaker 1: that like, that's why like even him doctoring up the blood.
- 37:16Speaker 1: And I'm like, this has a price that you pay
- 37:18Speaker 1: to do these things that you're doing. And like, when
- 37:21Speaker 1: you just totally screw that over and be like, Nope,
- 37:24Speaker 1: just kidding. He's fine. They did the same. As much
- 37:27Speaker 1: as I love Winter Soldier, I'm sick of that fake out.
- 37:30Speaker 1: It almost works in Winter Soldier when they kill Samuel L. Jackson,
- 37:34Speaker 1: but I'm just like, if it never happened anywhere else
- 37:38Speaker 1: in the Marvel Universe, that's the one time I think
- 37:40Speaker 1: it works within the plot.
- 37:41Speaker 4: He's not dead.
- 37:41Speaker 7: But again, one more time, I'm like.
- 37:43Speaker 1: We've already just seen this the last big movie you
- 37:45Speaker 1: guys did. It's like they keep doing that. They kind
- 37:48Speaker 1: of did it with the first one with Tony Stark
- 37:50Speaker 1: probably should have died there if they were sticking with
- 37:53Speaker 1: a really interesting plot, but they were like, want to
- 37:55Speaker 1: put him in all these other movies so let's just
- 37:57Speaker 1: have him cough back to life it's okay so i
- 37:59Speaker 1: mean they keep playing that card of like are we
- 38:01Speaker 1: gonna kill him no.
- 38:02Speaker 4: Just kidding they might have they might have done that
- 38:04Speaker 4: with um uh war machine yeah but there's a thing
- 38:09Speaker 4: there's a his medical file pops up in dr strange
- 38:13Speaker 4: sort of like briefly there and it's gone it's it's.
- 38:16Speaker 1: That same thing it's like they don't want to fully
- 38:18Speaker 1: commit to that because again i feel like as much
- 38:20Speaker 1: as i liked about civil war if it's a civil
- 38:23Speaker 1: war people there need to be consequences yeah people need
- 38:26Speaker 1: to die you know it's like there needs to be
- 38:28Speaker 1: stakes involved and that was my problem with with dr
- 38:31Speaker 1: strange is like there's a lot of jumping around there's
- 38:34Speaker 1: a lot of buildings flipping there's a lot of jumping
- 38:37Speaker 1: from one place to another but in the end i'm
- 38:38Speaker 1: like i don't i don't know what you're fighting about
- 38:40Speaker 1: i don't know what this like i just didn't feel
- 38:42Speaker 1: invested in any of the action going on and there
- 38:45Speaker 1: was a lot of action so i'm like if i'm
- 38:46Speaker 1: gonna invest this much Like, you know, when it's the
- 38:49Speaker 1: Captain America movies and it's action going on, I'm invested.
- 38:52Speaker 1: It's a real world thing. There are stakes if they're
- 38:55Speaker 1: out there running in the middle of the street. You know,
- 38:58Speaker 1: somebody's going to get injured. Just jumping through time and space.
- 39:01Speaker 1: And I'm just like, what is the outcome?
- 39:03Speaker 4: What's going to happen? I think that was part of
- 39:05Speaker 4: their whole excuse for limiting some weird level of collateral
- 39:09Speaker 4: damage because they could jump in and out of reality.
- 39:12Speaker 4: So they're on that one. That sort of corner of
- 39:16Speaker 4: reality where they're not interacting with everybody else and they
- 39:18Speaker 4: could literally do whatever they wanted.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Which again makes me totally detached from it.
- 39:24Speaker 4: Right, but it has that weird disconnected feeling like, well,
- 39:27Speaker 4: what does it matter what happens when they can just.
- 39:29Speaker 1: other than this one guy who up to this point
- 39:31Speaker 1: in the movie's kind of been a dick so why
- 39:32Speaker 1: am i even on board with him like he hasn't
- 39:34Speaker 1: even redeemed himself really why do i care.
- 39:37Speaker 8: So and the thing for me was that he didn't
- 39:39Speaker 8: like it wasn't convincing enough for me that he jumped
- 39:43Speaker 8: to okay i'm gonna save the world now like He
- 39:46Speaker 8: didn't care that much before. He said he didn't want
- 39:48Speaker 8: to be involved. But then it was like three minutes
- 39:51Speaker 8: later he was all in. And that wasn't believable.
- 39:54Speaker 1: Enough for me.
- 39:54Speaker 4: He got thrown in and had to be involved. When
- 39:58Speaker 4: his life mattered to himself, he kind of had to
- 40:02Speaker 4: step in and do things.
- 40:03Speaker 1: And seemed super capable all of a sudden. Like we
- 40:07Speaker 1: get kind of a little bit of the journey at
- 40:08Speaker 1: the beginning. But then all of a sudden he's just like,
- 40:11Speaker 1: and this was mine. By the end it felt very Matrix-y.
- 40:15Speaker 1: Because he's almost the Chosen One for no good reason. Like,
- 40:18Speaker 1: at least in The Matrix, they came up with some, like,
- 40:20Speaker 1: you are the Chosen One. They didn't really build that
- 40:23Speaker 1: here as, like, he is special for some reason. And
- 40:25Speaker 1: that's why he's so good. And he's just going to
- 40:27Speaker 1: become the master of this whole little thing now. But
- 40:31Speaker 1: he just is.
- 40:32Speaker 7: Because he's super smart.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Yeah, he's super smart.
- 40:35Speaker 4: He's a good study.
- 40:36Speaker 1: He's super arrogant.
- 40:37Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Not a good driver so much, but I was just like, yeah,
- 40:43Speaker 1: the fact that they thrust on him all this responsibility,
- 40:46Speaker 1: and then there's also this weird little world that kind
- 40:48Speaker 1: of doesn't matter, sort of like in The Matrix 2,
- 40:50Speaker 1: where it's like, oh, this isn't real anyway, so don't
- 40:52Speaker 1: worry about it. And then the real world, you're sleeping somewhere.
- 40:55Speaker 1: So this dream world crazy bullshit going on, eh, there's
- 40:59Speaker 1: no stakes to it either.
- 41:00Speaker 7: Well, there was a weird time jump that they didn't
- 41:03Speaker 7: acknowledge well at all either, because when he's in the car,
- 41:05Speaker 7: when he gets in the wreck... He's getting a phone
- 41:08Speaker 7: call about something from Iron Man 2. He's getting a
- 41:10Speaker 7: call about the dude that gets his back broke or
- 41:12Speaker 7: legs are broke or something on the phone. That's the
- 41:14Speaker 7: dude that was testing out Was it Hammer Tech or whatever?
- 41:18Speaker 7: It was the people that were trying to make the
- 41:19Speaker 7: Iron Man suit. And they do that demo thing where
- 41:21Speaker 7: it crunches the guy. That's what that phone call was about.
- 41:25Speaker 7: So that is happening during Iron Man 2 stuff. So see,
- 41:28Speaker 7: there was a weird time jump. They didn't make obvious.
- 41:30Speaker 1: They don't acknowledge.
- 41:31Speaker 7: Unless you're just super dorky like me and you just
- 41:33Speaker 7: remember a lot. You're like, oh, this is back in
- 41:36Speaker 7: the day. So there was a weird time jump that
- 41:38Speaker 7: they didn't make clear. That's a lot of years. Okay,
- 41:41Speaker 7: that was back. during iron man 2 now we're here
- 41:44Speaker 7: to current.
- 41:45Speaker 4: Times yeah so he did go through months of training
- 41:47Speaker 4: years yeah they didn't make it clear at all just
- 41:49Speaker 4: just in surgery alone.
- 41:51Speaker 13: We gotta have a montage otherwise we don't understand that
- 41:56Speaker 13: yeah it's like unfortunately yeah like without that montage like
- 41:59Speaker 13: it it didn't land because i was kind of telling
- 42:00Speaker 13: my girlfriend at time i'm like you.
- 42:02Speaker 7: Know that was about iron man 2 like when is
- 42:04Speaker 7: this and then like A little bit later, I'm like, okay, wait,
- 42:07Speaker 7: I think we're at now now. So I think that
- 42:09Speaker 7: that's why he's good. I think it's been two, three
- 42:12Speaker 7: years and they did not get that through well.
- 42:15Speaker 4: I'm wondering if there's a director's cut.
- 42:17Speaker 1: We got to see him punching sides of meat and
- 42:19Speaker 1: chasing a chicken. You got to have an inspiring survivor.
- 42:22Speaker 7: Oh, wait, I'm on the wrong week.
- 42:22Speaker 4: We did sort of see that. I mean, see him
- 42:24Speaker 4: reach his hand through portals and steal books. Sneaky bastard.
- 42:28Speaker 4: It doesn't leave without me knowing, oh, yeah?
- 42:34Speaker 1: I will give them the, like, that effect looks cool.
- 42:38Speaker 7: Like, they made that.
- 42:39Speaker 1: That's why I wish it worked better for me as, like,
- 42:41Speaker 1: having some sort of stakes within the character and all that.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Because when he does the move, like, I'm like, that's
- 42:47Speaker 1: pretty badass.
- 42:48Speaker 7: Well, here's another thing I would point out as far as, like,
- 42:52Speaker 7: justifying his power. The moment he got the Eye of Omoto,
- 42:55Speaker 7: the moment he got that gem.
- 42:57Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 42:57Speaker 7: Power was off the fucking charts because that's an infinity stone.
- 43:00Speaker 7: That's a time stone.
- 43:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:01Speaker 7: The moment he had that on, his power level went
- 43:04Speaker 7: through the roof. And that's why I think a boy
- 43:06Speaker 7: just kind of snarkily says, well, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,
- 43:09Speaker 7: infinity stone. It's like, that's why you're so strong because
- 43:12Speaker 7: you have.
- 43:14Speaker 1: As it went on, I was also like, actually, that
- 43:17Speaker 1: cape's the cool one. You're some kind of a doofus,
- 43:20Speaker 1: but that cape's really fucking good and is the reason
- 43:23Speaker 1: you can fly and kind of knows what's going on
- 43:26Speaker 1: and you don't. And I'm like, can we just watch
- 43:27Speaker 1: the cape for an hour? The cape's pretty cool.
- 43:30Speaker 8: The cape gets its own story.
- 43:31Speaker 1: It should.
- 43:32Speaker 7: It's a side movie all on its own.
- 43:34Speaker 4: The relic chose him.
- 43:36Speaker 6: It did.
- 43:36Speaker 1: It was very Harry Potter, too. I choose you.
- 43:39Speaker 7: I was having flashbacks of Spawn at first, and I
- 43:42Speaker 7: was like, no, it's all right.
- 43:43Speaker 5: It's okay.
- 43:44Speaker 7: We can let the kids have personality.
- 43:46Speaker 1: Spawn movie. That's another one we need to add to
- 43:48Speaker 1: our list.
- 43:49Speaker 7: Oh, that's getting remade, too.
- 43:50Speaker 4: It kind of needs to be.
- 43:51Speaker 7: Just wait for it.
- 43:53Speaker 4: As long as they bring John Leguizamo back.
- 43:54Speaker 1: There we go. Fine casting.
- 43:58Speaker 4: The guy they had in Doctor Strange, what's his face?
- 44:02Speaker 4: The guy who had gone to Kathmandu, who he sought out,
- 44:05Speaker 4: who had used magic to help himself walk. Kind of
- 44:07Speaker 4: reminded me of John Leguizamo in a weird way. He
- 44:10Speaker 4: looked like an Elseworlds, sort of older John Leguizamo. Fang... I.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Was just trying to think of the actor. Benjamin Bratt.
- 44:20Speaker 7: Was that the dude from Miss Congeniality? Yeah, obviously. That's
- 44:23Speaker 7: where you.
- 44:27Speaker 1: Cast Benjamin Bratt.
- 44:28Speaker 7: Which does make me think... Don't pretend like.
- 44:31Speaker 4: You don't love Miss Congeniality. That's what I remember him from.
- 44:36Speaker 4: Good job.
- 44:38Speaker 1: But no, it is one of those that's them, I'm assuming,
- 44:42Speaker 1: planning ahead.
- 44:43Speaker 7: Just since we know.
- 44:44Speaker 1: They've got 10 movies out.
- 44:44Speaker 7: It's weird because they said they have no plans for
- 44:46Speaker 7: Doctor Who individual sequel at this point. Straight. I kept
- 44:50Speaker 7: doing that all weekend.
- 44:52Speaker 1: I kept fighting to call it that.
- 44:53Speaker 7: There's no official plans, but the way that ends, they
- 44:56Speaker 7: obviously are at least testing it. Like, do you want more?
- 44:59Speaker 7: Because I love that actor, that Chihuahua. The dude that
- 45:02Speaker 7: played Mordo. Chihuahua.
- 45:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:04Speaker 7: Yeah love that guy okay and i would gladly take
- 45:07Speaker 7: a home if you let the villain be a villain
- 45:09Speaker 7: in the next movie because case silliest should have been
- 45:12Speaker 7: great with that dude playing him but he was a
- 45:14Speaker 7: cameo that should have been a fucking villain and he
- 45:18Speaker 7: was a cameo so if you do another let baron
- 45:22Speaker 7: morto be in the movie then let us have a.
- 45:24Speaker 4: Villain he can hold a movie by himself Man.
- 45:27Speaker 7: How great would it have been for Casey Lewis and
- 45:29Speaker 7: Edward Cumberbatch, because I don't know the actor's name, but
- 45:32Speaker 7: that guy and Edward Cumberbatch having battle of wits and
- 45:36Speaker 7: scenes together. Those two could have nailed some great moments
- 45:39Speaker 7: of tension, and it was anytime they were on screen together,
- 45:42Speaker 7: it was just action. You wasted all this acting.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Mads Mikkelsen's so good at that kind of stuff.
- 45:47Speaker 4: He plays a fantastic villain that has... just hard belief
- 45:54Speaker 4: behind him. He sells that really well. He did it
- 45:58Speaker 4: great in Serenity. The whole fact that he believes in
- 46:02Speaker 4: a cause and it doesn't matter if the cause is
- 46:05Speaker 4: bigger than he is and he's just there to move
- 46:08Speaker 4: it forward. That's kind of his.
- 46:12Speaker 7: I thought his part was well written. Being someone coming
- 46:15Speaker 7: from the comic to the movie, the way they kind
- 46:16Speaker 7: of twisted him, I thought was neat. Because even in
- 46:18Speaker 7: a comic, it's weird because even the ancient one knows
- 46:21Speaker 7: he's bad in a comic. She's like, you're going to
- 46:23Speaker 7: turn on me one day. She doesn't say it, but
- 46:25Speaker 7: it's so obvious in the comic that she knows he's
- 46:27Speaker 7: going to go bad. So when he does go bad,
- 46:29Speaker 7: you're like.
- 46:30Speaker 1: Well, no shit.
- 46:31Speaker 7: Everyone kind of knew he was going to go bad.
- 46:33Speaker 7: So I thought it was neat the way they did
- 46:34Speaker 7: it where it wasn't like she knew he was going
- 46:36Speaker 7: to go bad. The fact that she kind of had
- 46:38Speaker 7: the secret and he figured it out and he was
- 46:40Speaker 7: just kind of like, I'm a Puritan. I don't want
- 46:42Speaker 7: anything to do with that stuff. I thought it was
- 46:44Speaker 7: a neat approach.
- 46:45Speaker 4: She had kind of mentioned that the best she could
- 46:48Speaker 4: see was the possibilities of things, which sort of makes
- 46:51Speaker 4: sense there because maybe there was a possibility that he
- 46:54Speaker 4: wouldn't turn bad. And that's what she was trying to,
- 46:57Speaker 4: trying to foster. And, but, You know, it ultimately wasn't
- 47:01Speaker 4: going to matter because, yeah, he's a villain.
- 47:03Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 47:03Speaker 7: Can't get around that.
- 47:04Speaker 1: As we get into the villains, does anybody have a
- 47:06Speaker 1: reason why the eye makeup is what it is?
- 47:09Speaker 7: Is there a specific reason it looks like that? Oh,
- 47:11Speaker 7: it happened after they, when they did the ritual and, like,
- 47:13Speaker 7: they saunced it up, whatever dimension. Like, if you watch, like,
- 47:16Speaker 7: all of them, like, their eyes burned away during that.
- 47:18Speaker 1: But it's just a weird look.
- 47:20Speaker 4: So you know they're bad.
- 47:21Speaker 7: He's like the deadly diva lizard or something.
- 47:24Speaker 1: He's just bad makeup job and kind of a lizard.
- 47:27Speaker 4: He's gonna turn into a reptile. I think it was
- 47:29Speaker 4: more specifically just to identify that, oh, these are the
- 47:31Speaker 4: bad guys.
- 47:33Speaker 1: I realized, yeah, it was very functional the way it was.
- 47:36Speaker 1: It's like, oh, punch him in the face.
- 47:38Speaker 7: I don't like that guy.
- 47:38Speaker 1: Look at him.
- 47:40Speaker 4: He's got a thing on his head and crazy eyes.
- 47:41Speaker 4: I'll kill him.
- 47:42Speaker 1: It's such a specific choice, though. It's not like, they
- 47:44Speaker 1: had red glowing eyes like every other bad guy in
- 47:47Speaker 1: the world. It's like, this was a very specific makeup choice.
- 47:49Speaker 1: And I was just like, is there a reason for that?
- 47:52Speaker 1: Because it's odd looking. I don't know. I wasn't comfortable
- 47:56Speaker 1: with that either, but Again, because I kind of wanted
- 47:58Speaker 1: a specific reason.
- 47:59Speaker 7: I'm like, is there some sort of weird reptilian thing
- 48:02Speaker 7: going to kick in at some point?
- 48:04Speaker 1: Are they mid-transformation here? It's very reptile-like. And lots of
- 48:09Speaker 1: blue eyes.
- 48:09Speaker 7: I just think it was like their eyes were burning.
- 48:11Speaker 1: See that? Again, it would almost make sense.
- 48:13Speaker 7: From looking at whatever dimension it was starting to burn away.
- 48:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:17Speaker 7: I'm at the point where I just want everything on Netflix. Like,
- 48:20Speaker 7: I look back... Because, you know, we've had plenty of
- 48:22Speaker 7: podcasts where I do the whole, it's a pilot. And
- 48:24Speaker 7: it's like, that's not a good defense. I know that.
- 48:26Speaker 8: But.
- 48:28Speaker 7: I look at everything on Netflix and I was like,
- 48:30Speaker 7: can you imagine a two hour Luke Cage? Can you
- 48:31Speaker 7: imagine a two hour daredevil? Can you imagine a two hour?
- 48:33Speaker 7: And I mean, they would not have worked the same way.
- 48:36Speaker 7: And I'm just at the point where it's like, can,
- 48:38Speaker 7: can we like do movies when it's like climactic fights,
- 48:41Speaker 7: like do everything on Netflix. And when shit hits the fan,
- 48:45Speaker 7: it's like movie, because I want, at least for pilot stuff, Dr.
- 48:49Speaker 7: Strange in 10, 12 episodes of training and doing stuff
- 48:52Speaker 7: and fleshing out. Seeing Mordo change slowly. I mean, that
- 48:57Speaker 7: would all and Wong I love that dude that guy
- 49:00Speaker 7: from Marco Polo I wanted him to be in there
- 49:02Speaker 7: more and I'm like he will be in it more
- 49:04Speaker 7: going forward because he is Dr. Strange's right hand man
- 49:07Speaker 7: but it was just so much so many times in
- 49:09Speaker 7: the movie I was like man just can we Netflix
- 49:12Speaker 7: everything like you really flesh it out so much better
- 49:14Speaker 7: when you get 10 12 episodes I.
- 49:16Speaker 1: Wanted to address that because I feel like I've said
- 49:19Speaker 1: that sometimes too. I said that about Age of Ultron
- 49:22Speaker 1: many times now.
- 49:23Speaker 7: I'm like, there's so much more story that needed to happen.
- 49:25Speaker 4: Age of Ultron really should have been better.
- 49:28Speaker 7: But at the same time.
- 49:29Speaker 4: That could have easily been two movies right there.
- 49:31Speaker 1: I don't think that, you know, I don't think we've
- 49:33Speaker 1: gotten away from the film time frame being a dead format.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Like you can still make amazing movies as a movie.
- 49:42Speaker 1: And I don't think it's above them to be able
- 49:44Speaker 1: to do that. It's just a different mode because you
- 49:47Speaker 1: get specific ones. You know, I think Winter Soldier works better.
- 49:51Speaker 1: In that time frame. If you drug it out for
- 49:53Speaker 1: 12 episodes, it might not be cool anymore. It may
- 49:55Speaker 1: be too damn long.
- 49:56Speaker 7: Even with that, though, it was kind of an origin
- 50:01Speaker 7: story for Winter Soldier. But it wasn't really an origin
- 50:03Speaker 7: story script. Which is why I think the Netflix things
- 50:08Speaker 7: work better. Because everything so far has been origin stories
- 50:11Speaker 7: for people.
- 50:14Speaker 4: I mean, Luke Cage in and of itself wasn't really
- 50:16Speaker 4: an origin story.
- 50:16Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 50:17Speaker 7: They threw in a couple episodes. Because we already inserted
- 50:18Speaker 7: him in another one.
- 50:19Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 50:19Speaker 7: They keep crossing over so much. Oh, but you didn't know.
- 50:21Speaker 4: They did throw a couple episodes of origin in there,
- 50:23Speaker 4: but it was really only about just as much as
- 50:25Speaker 4: you needed.
- 50:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:27Speaker 4: They threw it in, they took it out, and they
- 50:28Speaker 4: threw it in, and they did a whole episode of origin.
- 50:29Speaker 4: But could you have done it in two hours?
- 50:31Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 50:31Speaker 7: You think you could have did Luke Cage in two hours?
- 50:35Speaker 1: A story?
- 50:36Speaker 7: I don't know if it would be that exact.
- 50:37Speaker 1: But I almost felt like, again, maybe because I crammed
- 50:39Speaker 1: so much of it in this weekend, that last six
- 50:43Speaker 1: episodes or so, I'm like, are we still... They're kind
- 50:45Speaker 1: of dragging their feet a little bit at the end there.
- 50:48Speaker 4: Everything with Diamondback could have easily been two hours.
- 50:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it could have been wrapped up way quicker. Because
- 50:52Speaker 1: I'm like, is he still.
- 50:54Speaker 4: I think that's the only problem I have with Luke Cage,
- 50:56Speaker 4: is that there wasn't enough Cottonmouth. And there was too
- 51:00Speaker 4: much Diamondback.
- 51:01Speaker 1: I that's that's what i was gonna say too i
- 51:03Speaker 1: think that's the difference between like what they're doing with
- 51:06Speaker 1: series and what they've been doing with the movies and
- 51:08Speaker 1: i've called them out for this all along the villains
- 51:11Speaker 1: are so unimpressive in the movie.
- 51:14Speaker 4: The stakes got raised on them too quickly too too.
- 51:17Speaker 1: Soon yeah but they have that's the thing all of
- 51:20Speaker 1: these series have had really good villains so it's like
- 51:23Speaker 1: Marvel has good villains. They can write good villains, but
- 51:26Speaker 1: they're sending all of their time and investment into the series.
- 51:31Speaker 7: They're just like throwing them in as fodder for the movies.
- 51:33Speaker 7: Cottonmouth is a great villain. I get the impression that Marvel,
- 51:37Speaker 7: and I'm not saying I agree with this. I'm not
- 51:38Speaker 7: saying like artistically. I think on some corporate level, they've
- 51:41Speaker 7: basically said when it comes to Marvel villains, who's going
- 51:44Speaker 7: to end up with Thanos and who's fodder to just
- 51:46Speaker 7: be a one-off in a movie? Because Loki's not going
- 51:49Speaker 7: to die. He's going to end up with Thanos. I
- 51:51Speaker 7: kind of wonder if.
- 51:52Speaker 4: Baron Mordo is.
- 51:53Speaker 7: Just like the fact that one of the stingers kind
- 51:56Speaker 7: of ties in Loki. It's like, well, if this dude's
- 51:58Speaker 7: hunting Strange and now Strange is with Thor, I see
- 52:02Speaker 7: Baron Mordo ending up with Loki, which is awesome. I
- 52:04Speaker 7: would love to see the two of them start forming
- 52:08Speaker 7: that clique to be, even if it's with Thanos or
- 52:12Speaker 7: against him or to backstab him, because that shit happens
- 52:14Speaker 7: all the time in the comics. Like, yeah, we're going
- 52:15Speaker 7: to be buddy-buddy and take out all the good guys.
- 52:17Speaker 7: And then someone backs him. But they're obviously doing a
- 52:20Speaker 7: thing where it's like, either we're just going to make
- 52:22Speaker 7: you one movie like Ultron, or we're going to really
- 52:24Speaker 7: back you up. You're going to be long-term. We're going
- 52:25Speaker 7: to keep you around. And they haven't done it with
- 52:27Speaker 7: enough villains. I feel like even if you almost, I
- 52:31Speaker 7: guess Scooby-Doo wouldn't be the way to say it, but
- 52:33Speaker 7: even if every movie has some weird little loophole, like, well,
- 52:36Speaker 7: he's not dead. It's just some little sneaky thing, like
- 52:38Speaker 7: he's not dead. Then later on, you could go, look
- 52:42Speaker 7: at all these bad guys that are back. I don't know,
- 52:44Speaker 7: to do some with later, but the fact that they
- 52:45Speaker 7: kill them. I think that's what bugs me is that
- 52:47Speaker 7: they end.
- 52:48Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 52:49Speaker 7: And, like, these villains are just as important as the heroes.
- 52:52Speaker 7: I mean, you don't have Iron Man without Mandarin. Like,
- 52:58Speaker 7: you know, everyone, you know, Spider-Man and Doc Ock, you
- 53:01Speaker 7: have these, like, cliche villains and you've killed some of them.
- 53:04Speaker 7: And it's like, you kind of kill a character when
- 53:05Speaker 7: you kill their main rival.
- 53:07Speaker 1: They've always done that with the movies, though. They want
- 53:09Speaker 1: to wrap, I guess, for outsiders because, like, even, like,
- 53:13Speaker 1: the first real wave of that stuff coming in i
- 53:15Speaker 1: guess that like tim burton batman they kill the joker
- 53:17Speaker 1: i'm like yeah that's an overarching story that you can't
- 53:21Speaker 1: get away from like it's so important to the batman
- 53:25Speaker 1: universe you can't just take him and like it's like
- 53:27Speaker 1: they took their cue from that every superhero movie since
- 53:30Speaker 1: then it's like well at the end we gotta kill
- 53:31Speaker 1: off the villain.
- 53:32Speaker 4: I think the best handling of the villains of any
- 53:35Speaker 4: of the villains in any of the comic movies they've
- 53:37Speaker 4: had recently so far would be magneto Because he's such
- 53:41Speaker 4: an essential character himself. He's the one character. You couldn't
- 53:47Speaker 4: kill him if you wanted to. Because, I mean, they
- 53:50Speaker 4: didn't in the first X-Men movie. He was barely in
- 53:53Speaker 4: the second. And they didn't in the third X-Men movie.
- 53:58Speaker 7: Which didn't exist. Now it doesn't exist. We took care
- 54:03Speaker 7: of that.
- 54:04Speaker 4: But I mean, as far as villains, yeah, he's so
- 54:06Speaker 4: close to the X-Men-ism character anyway, because.
- 54:08Speaker 1: But it almost, he's kind of the same thing that
- 54:11Speaker 1: I throw Loki in.
- 54:12Speaker 7: I'm like, he's not really a villain.
- 54:14Speaker 6: Right.
- 54:15Speaker 1: And some of it's because... He's just his own perspective
- 54:17Speaker 1: of things. Some of it's because we like them so much, too.
- 54:19Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying about Loki. Loki's not a good
- 54:21Speaker 1: villain because... Because he's too damn likable. We all enjoy
- 54:24Speaker 1: when he's on screen and not in an evil villainous way.
- 54:27Speaker 4: We just like the character. What would Thor have without
- 54:30Speaker 4: Loki at this point?
- 54:31Speaker 1: Like I said, I don't think Thor is interesting at all.
- 54:34Speaker 1: Chris Hemsworth is at least charming and he makes that work.
- 54:37Speaker 1: But the only time it's interesting is with him and Loki.
- 54:40Speaker 1: And I'm like, Loki's carrying that relationship. Thor is a
- 54:43Speaker 1: boring character. He just is.
- 54:46Speaker 4: How about that time loop there at the end?
- 54:52Speaker 1: Again, a loophole.
- 54:54Speaker 4: I thought that was genius.
- 54:56Speaker 7: It was kind of fun.
- 54:56Speaker 8: It wasn't a bunch of explosions.
- 54:58Speaker 4: It was great. After they killed him the first time
- 55:03Speaker 4: when he came back.
- 55:05Speaker 5: Genius.
- 55:05Speaker 4: Just going to get him stuck in a time loop.
- 55:09Speaker 1: It was almost childish, which was one of the fun things.
- 55:13Speaker 1: He could have also just sat there and... plugged his
- 55:16Speaker 1: ears and sang Henry VIII over and over and over
- 55:19Speaker 1: again until he went crazy.
- 55:20Speaker 7: He's like, you know what?
- 55:21Speaker 1: Fine.
- 55:21Speaker 7: Just get out of my universe.
- 55:23Speaker 4: I mean, about the third or fourth time of that,
- 55:25Speaker 4: I'm watching it with my eight-year-old son, too. He starts
- 55:27Speaker 4: cracking up. It's the most fun part of that movie, probably. Yeah,
- 55:31Speaker 4: he realized that's what's happening. Oh, get him stuck in
- 55:33Speaker 4: a time loop. He can't get out. He's a prisoner.
- 55:35Speaker 4: He can't get out.
- 55:36Speaker 1: I'm going to drive you crazy.
- 55:37Speaker 4: And even you know this great demon is like are
- 55:40Speaker 4: you fucking kidding.
- 55:41Speaker 1: Yeah so again there's i mean i will almost give
- 55:46Speaker 1: them there are more moments of fun in this than
- 55:49Speaker 1: i expected because the going in i was just my
- 55:53Speaker 1: i did not have high expectations mostly because i didn't
- 55:56Speaker 1: know the story that well but i also like it
- 55:58Speaker 1: just seemed so grim as a story and like I
- 56:03Speaker 1: like Cumberbatch, but, like, again, he's not really known for
- 56:06Speaker 1: his comedy, so, like, he's pretty serious in most of
- 56:08Speaker 1: his stuff anyway, so he plays with it a little bit. Like,
- 56:12Speaker 1: him and the cape are fun, and, like, the moments
- 56:15Speaker 1: where he has little, like, snarky lines, so I'm like,
- 56:18Speaker 1: he made it more fun than I expected going in.
- 56:21Speaker 1: It's still not an overall fun movie like a lot
- 56:24Speaker 1: of the other Marvel stuff, but it was more enjoyable
- 56:27Speaker 1: on those moments than I expected, I guess.
- 56:29Speaker 2: I spent my last dollar getting here, won my ticket,
- 56:32Speaker 2: and you're talking to me about healing through belief.
- 56:35Speaker 6: You're a man looking at the world through a keyhole.
- 56:38Speaker 6: You've spent your whole life trying to widen that keyhole,
- 56:41Speaker 6: to see more, to know more. And now, on hearing
- 56:44Speaker 6: that it can be widened in ways you can't imagine,
- 56:48Speaker 6: you reject the possibility.
- 56:49Speaker 2: No, I reject it because I do not believe in
- 56:51Speaker 2: fairy tales about chakras.
- 56:53Speaker 7: Or energy or the power of belief.
- 56:55Speaker 2: There is no such thing as spirit. We are made
- 56:59Speaker 2: of matter and nothing more. You're just another tiny momentary
- 57:04Speaker 2: speck within an indifferent universe.
- 57:06Speaker 6: You think too little of yourself.
- 57:07Speaker 2: Oh, you think you see through me, do you?
- 57:10Speaker 5: Well, you don't.
- 57:11Speaker 7: But I see through you! I liked Tilda's once in
- 57:17Speaker 7: a lot.
- 57:19Speaker 4: I thought she was fantastic.
- 57:20Speaker 1: She's pretty damn impressive in most things. They did.
- 57:23Speaker 7: I mean, that was one of those.
- 57:25Speaker 1: As a new looking at it from a 2016 perspective,
- 57:30Speaker 1: they did modernize it to the point where it wasn't
- 57:32Speaker 1: overtly offensive because looking back, they're like, yeah, if you
- 57:36Speaker 1: go back to the old comics, it's all very stereotypical
- 57:41Speaker 1: when it comes to the Asian characters, you know.
- 57:43Speaker 7: One of those ancient Chinese secret, ancient.
- 57:45Speaker 1: Chinese secret, the, Your boy that's his sidekick is really
- 57:50Speaker 1: just kind of his servant.
- 57:52Speaker 4: And while it worked back in 1973, it doesn't really
- 57:55Speaker 4: fly now.
- 57:56Speaker 1: Kung Fu was still on TV every night with David
- 57:59Speaker 1: Carradine as our character. You could skate by with a
- 58:02Speaker 1: lot in the 70s.
- 58:03Speaker 7: That's the only reason Iron Fist existed. They needed something
- 58:06Speaker 7: else for Luke Cage and at the time in black culture,
- 58:09Speaker 7: they're like, what else is black culture like? They're like,
- 58:11Speaker 7: martial arts movies, so we need a martial arts character.
- 58:13Speaker 7: There was a lot of very You know, very specifically
- 58:17Speaker 7: written things for things like that.
- 58:19Speaker 1: It led to good stuff that would come out of it.
- 58:21Speaker 1: But yeah, it comes from very bad stereotypical beginnings sometimes.
- 58:26Speaker 1: So it was kind of interesting to see, okay, we're
- 58:29Speaker 1: going to, because.
- 58:30Speaker 7: It's not going to be an Asian character, we're also going.
- 58:32Speaker 1: To do the gender flip on it. We're going to
- 58:34Speaker 1: make her.
- 58:36Speaker 7: Own weird whatever race.
- 58:37Speaker 1: Celtic. Well, no, I'm just saying whatever creature Tilda Swinton is. Like,
- 58:43Speaker 1: I really don't know what she is. I don't feel
- 58:45Speaker 1: like she's human.
- 58:46Speaker 7: But she's an odd character.
- 58:48Speaker 1: She's a great actress.
- 58:49Speaker 14: She's just weird.
- 58:50Speaker 7: Like, anything you've ever seen her in, I'm like, I.
- 58:53Speaker 1: Don't know what's going on with that Tilda Swinton.
- 58:55Speaker 4: You know, honestly, I'm trying to remember anything else I've
- 58:57Speaker 4: seen her in.
- 58:58Speaker 7: She's just an odd actress. She was in Constantine.
- 59:00Speaker 8: Yeah, she was like the angel.
- 59:01Speaker 2: She was.
- 59:02Speaker 1: There you go.
- 59:03Speaker 7: Gabriel, yeah. I mean, she was the ice queen writer
- 59:07Speaker 7: in Narnia movies, right? i think so wasn't that.
- 59:09Speaker 4: Her isn't she the one and i get her mixed
- 59:11Speaker 4: up with alice creege because i want to see her
- 59:13Speaker 4: in like a borg suit.
- 59:16Speaker 1: I mean that could probably be arranged we could we
- 59:19Speaker 1: could throw enough money at her she'll put on the
- 59:21Speaker 1: boards um isn't she in the what's the freaking ice
- 59:25Speaker 1: train movie the snowpiercer yeah isn't she the weirdo like
- 59:30Speaker 1: that is a weird performance in snowpiercer yeah she's just
- 59:34Speaker 1: a weird actress which again is perfect casting to put
- 59:38Speaker 1: her in this weird mystical.
- 59:39Speaker 7: World what was the one she was in recently with
- 59:41Speaker 7: loki the vampire movie yeah that was she was great
- 59:44Speaker 7: in that that was lovers left alive i love that
- 59:46Speaker 7: movie yeah.
- 59:48Speaker 1: Again but she ends up in the weirdest property so
- 59:50Speaker 1: the fact that she's in this super mainstream superhero movie.
- 59:53Speaker 7: I'm like that's An odd choice for them.
- 59:55Speaker 1: So I'll give them points for doing interesting casting and
- 59:58Speaker 1: bringing in different people.
- 1:00:00Speaker 7: I saw that they had her in mind before the
- 1:00:02Speaker 7: script was written. Like, turning an ancient one into a
- 1:00:05Speaker 7: white person was like, They knew that ahead of time.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: Again, they always do that.
- 1:00:09Speaker 7: They already had her in mind. They're like, we want
- 1:00:11Speaker 7: Tilda Swanson to play this character. And when they wrote it,
- 1:00:13Speaker 7: they had her in mind and got her.
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: But again, I think that's the... Someone with quirks. I
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: think that's the out.
- 1:00:18Speaker 7: I think like if it were any other generic white person...
- 1:00:19Speaker 7: I think they want someone really androgynous. Just someone that
- 1:00:21Speaker 7: looks kind of alien. Like we want her to kind
- 1:00:23Speaker 7: of look different from humanity. She's so enlightened.
- 1:00:27Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:00:27Speaker 7: You know, we want her to visually look a little
- 1:00:29Speaker 7: different too. And she just does. She has this very.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: Otherworldly look to her. Yeah, it's almost like.
- 1:00:36Speaker 7: What was it in Community? They wanted her mascot to
- 1:00:38Speaker 7: encompass mankind. I feel like in some way she encompasses everything.
- 1:00:42Speaker 7: She looks like man, woman, just everything. Everything rolled into one.
- 1:00:46Speaker 7: This one body. I think she has a lot of presence.
- 1:00:49Speaker 7: Anything I see her in, she's just like, I just
- 1:00:51Speaker 7: want to sit down and talk to you.
- 1:00:53Speaker 8: She doesn't have eyelashes or eyebrows. She's just very intense
- 1:00:58Speaker 8: on her stare.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: I'm telling you, she might not be from Yeah.
- 1:01:02Speaker 7: Just throwing that out there.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: If she'd like to come on and defend herself and
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: her humanity, she's free. You're welcome to come join us.
- 1:01:11Speaker 4: Yeah, tell her if you're ever in Louisville.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: You know, if you're hanging out, feel free. We'll probably
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: sit in the same room and talk to you. Oh,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: how about the Blacklight poster universe we get at the
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: end there? Like, it's all I could think of.
- 1:01:28Speaker 7: The entire scene.
- 1:01:29Speaker 8: I'm just like, It reminded me of these like kids toys.
- 1:01:33Speaker 8: The ones that it's like they're like these little plastic
- 1:01:36Speaker 8: rod things. They've got little multiple colored balls on them.
- 1:01:39Speaker 8: I can't remember what they're called, but I was just
- 1:01:41Speaker 8: like thinking about that the whole time. I was like,
- 1:01:43Speaker 8: what is this little like?
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: Oh, Dormammu's little loop. dimensional world.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: Blacklight dimension.
- 1:01:48Speaker 8: Blacklight mini-golf universe.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: I just kept looking at the background waiting for a
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: giant snake to come out or a wizard. Well, we
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: kind of had a wizard. But at least a Black
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: Panther or a dude's van to go tearing by. It
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: just seemed like, again, back to the 70s, everything there
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: seemed like it needed to be on a cheesy poster
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: on somebody's wall in 1976.
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: My son thought it was actually pretty cool. It is cool.
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: His only real exposure to Doctor Strange is what he's
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: seen in the cartoons on Netflix. He's like, oh, wow,
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: it actually looked like Dormammu and his big pumpkin head
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: looking self.
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: Which they said was Cumberbatch doing the facial. Really?
- 1:02:27Speaker 7: They messed with it a lot, obviously. He did his
- 1:02:29Speaker 7: smog again. He got down on his stomach and put
- 1:02:32Speaker 7: all the balls on his face and did the whole.
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: He seems to like to do that. Put balls in
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: his face. That's what the word on the street is.
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: That is strange.
- 1:02:42Speaker 8: So going back to the time loops in that same
- 1:02:44Speaker 8: little universe thing, I was wondering like why it didn't,
- 1:02:48Speaker 8: like space time continuum didn't fracture. Like why, if he
- 1:02:51Speaker 8: was like messing with it that much and for that long,
- 1:02:53Speaker 8: I felt like.
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: He only messed with it once.
- 1:02:56Speaker 8: I guess that you could say it's only once.
- 1:02:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:02:58Speaker 8: I just felt like the more they go whip, whip, whip, whip,
- 1:03:00Speaker 8: that something would fracture and like. make everything collapse. That's
- 1:03:04Speaker 8: why when Mordo was like, there's consequences.
- 1:03:07Speaker 4: For your actions. Maybe he was hoping it wouldn't, so
- 1:03:11Speaker 4: it didn't.
- 1:03:12Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: He needs a flashpoint where he comes back and like.
- 1:03:14Speaker 8: I was waiting for something real weird to happen there.
- 1:03:16Speaker 8: I was like, all right, he's messing with it. Something's
- 1:03:18Speaker 8: about to like fracture and mess up and it's going
- 1:03:20Speaker 8: to be all crazy. And then it was just like, oh, it's.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: Just fixed now.
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: I kind of wonder if he'll do that for Ragnarok.
- 1:03:28Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: Like if that wouldn't, when that'll actually pay off. Because
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: it'll have to be something big enough in the natural
- 1:03:37Speaker 4: reality that he'll have to do something crazy with it.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: If he's in Thor world... Will it then affect our world?
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: Because it's a whole different dimension, right?
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: Asgard?
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: If he starts messing with things in the Asgard world,
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: does that affect us?
- 1:03:52Speaker 7: I don't think it's a dimension. It's just really far away.
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: It's a place.
- 1:03:55Speaker 7: It's not another dimension.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: It's not another dimension?
- 1:03:58Speaker 7: No, it's just really far away.
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: That's true.
- 1:03:59Speaker 7: We're only in the first world.
- 1:04:01Speaker 8: He had Natalie Portman look up at the skies and
- 1:04:03Speaker 8: be like, right over there. That's where we are.
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: Second star of the race. Right on time.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: See, Captain Hook?
- 1:04:08Speaker 7: You can wave to him from here.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: But yeah, it is one of those just trying to decide. Again,
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: it gets so mystical on these. I'm just like, okay, wait.
- 1:04:18Speaker 7: Let's pin this stuff down.
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: Although they were also saying that not all the dimensions
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: function the same too. So it might not have messed
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: up reality because he was in a completely different dimension.
- 1:04:29Speaker 4: Because they were talking about how Dormammu's dimension is beyond time.
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: So he brought time to it.
- 1:04:35Speaker 9: Right, right.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Well, then they did the weird mirror world thing. Again,
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: that's like, it's a weird complex thing that they throw
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: out there, but don't really explain it. So it's just
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: enough of an excuse to go, oh, shit's weird right now.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: But don't worry about it. It doesn't matter in the
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: real world anyway. So just, it's us showing off the
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: cool effects.
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: We're not affecting the real world. We're kind of behind it.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: We're just kind of showing you some cool effects and
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: we can run around and do crazy shit. Again, I
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: felt like sometimes it was just action for the sake
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: of action and it didn't have any consequences and it
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: didn't really matter what happened at the end anyway. So
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: I'm like, Can't we just do something that matters?
- 1:05:08Speaker 7: Like, I don't know.
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: By the end, I was just like, it was a
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: lot of cool visuals, but I didn't care what was
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: going on most of the time.
- 1:05:14Speaker 7: Which is why I was surprised they got to this point.
- 1:05:18Speaker 7: Because honestly, that's just how the comic is. Doctor Strange
- 1:05:21Speaker 7: is not an action comic.
- 1:05:23Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:05:23Speaker 7: And that's why I was surprised it got to the
- 1:05:25Speaker 7: point where we were doing a movie of it. Because
- 1:05:26Speaker 7: it's like, you're really getting to the comics for comic
- 1:05:29Speaker 7: people now. Like, this is not even like mainstream stuff
- 1:05:31Speaker 7: at all.
- 1:05:32Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
- 1:05:33Speaker 7: Because like I've said before, like, you know, one of
- 1:05:35Speaker 7: the main reasons I thought Doctor Strange comics were neat
- 1:05:38Speaker 7: when I was little is because of the artwork. Because
- 1:05:40Speaker 7: it would be this banana two-page spread of just Escher
- 1:05:44Speaker 7: and Salvador Dali just like splooging all over the page.
- 1:05:48Speaker 7: And then here's Doctor Strange like flying through it in
- 1:05:50Speaker 7: a corner. And it would just be pages of that.
- 1:05:52Speaker 7: Just really crazy psychedelic backgrounds. And he's walking over here
- 1:05:55Speaker 7: or he's talking to someone. And so, you know, going in,
- 1:05:58Speaker 7: that's why I was like, man, this movie is going
- 1:05:59Speaker 7: to have to be visually bananas to even try to
- 1:06:02Speaker 7: hold up. anything for the comic which i feel like
- 1:06:04Speaker 7: they got that part it was yeah it was the
- 1:06:06Speaker 7: same thing where you kind of look back though and
- 1:06:08Speaker 7: you go well in the comic yeah he was just
- 1:06:10Speaker 7: kind of walking through it though it's not like he
- 1:06:13Speaker 7: went to this dimension and bought and all this stuff
- 1:06:15Speaker 7: happened there it's just like i'm gonna take this shortcut
- 1:06:16Speaker 7: or i gotta go talk to this entity and he
- 1:06:19Speaker 7: would go there and talk to some entity but it
- 1:06:20Speaker 7: wasn't like action was happening anything so it was i
- 1:06:24Speaker 7: feel like i'm not defending them but i'm guessing that's
- 1:06:27Speaker 7: why they did the mirror dimension, all these safe reasons
- 1:06:30Speaker 7: to have fighting in that. So it's like, it's not
- 1:06:33Speaker 7: just something to look at only. It's like, well, all
- 1:06:36Speaker 7: the crazy stuff's happening there because, you know, again, like
- 1:06:39Speaker 7: as a kid, that's kind of how it was. And
- 1:06:40Speaker 7: it comes like, man, these backgrounds are wild and crazy,
- 1:06:43Speaker 7: but he's just kind of taking a shortcut like over
- 1:06:45Speaker 7: here through it. It wasn't like he hung out in
- 1:06:48Speaker 7: those realms and did stuff. You know, he was still
- 1:06:50Speaker 7: just a dude in New York, but.
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: It does make me wonder, and this I wanted to
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: throw out to you guys, does because we're getting more
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: and more into the magic realm, does magic fit in
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: this Marvel universe that they've now created? It has to
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: because of Infinity Stones.
- 1:07:07Speaker 7: I mean, it has to because of Infinity Stones.
- 1:07:09Speaker 4: I think it's fit back when they threw Thor in
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: because even Thor.
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: Made the mention. It had to be crammed in there,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: but it always just seems so uneven to me because again,
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: we've got a team where you've got Thor on the
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: same team as Hawkeye. You know, like it's, it's, It's
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: so unbalanced sometimes that I'm just like, it seems weird.
- 1:07:28Speaker 4: I mean, Thor made the comment to Jane that magic
- 1:07:32Speaker 4: was just science that they didn't know how to explain.
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: It's just.
- 1:07:35Speaker 7: The ancient one kind of tried to do that, too.
- 1:07:37Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:07:37Speaker 7: They just say something like, oh, well, think of this
- 1:07:39Speaker 7: as the program.
- 1:07:40Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: It's like you don't really have to know it. You
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: just have to believe that's the way it works. So
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: it's sort of a weird mixture of the both.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: It's just going to be getting further and further into
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: that world, which... Again, it is funny that they paired
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: up Thor and Doctor Strange going forward. That's obviously what's next.
- 1:07:59Speaker 7: It's kind of fun because in the comic, they don't
- 1:08:00Speaker 7: get along. They're strange bedfellows. Because, you know, and they
- 1:08:04Speaker 7: kind of, I thought they kind of did a good
- 1:08:06Speaker 7: job of kind of Dr. Strange was all of a
- 1:08:08Speaker 7: sudden real snarky and kind of confident in that stinger.
- 1:08:11Speaker 7: All of a sudden, it felt a little bit later.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: Again, it felt later.
- 1:08:14Speaker 7: For him to play the cop with Thor and be like,
- 1:08:16Speaker 7: you need to get off of Earth. I'm like, oh shit,
- 1:08:18Speaker 7: they're getting right into it. Because in the comics, Strange
- 1:08:20Speaker 7: is like, get the fuck off my planet. I don't
- 1:08:22Speaker 7: want any of you foreign people here. So I thought
- 1:08:25Speaker 7: it was neat that right off, he's like, your brother's
- 1:08:26Speaker 7: a dick and I don't really like you either. So
- 1:08:29Speaker 7: let's go get this shit done so you can go home.
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: What can we do to get rid of you?
- 1:08:33Speaker 4: I'm willing to work with you to get this taken
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: care of.
- 1:08:35Speaker 7: So talk about your good cop, bad cop. I mean,
- 1:08:37Speaker 7: Thor movie, you're going to have Doctor Strange and a Hulk?
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: And Loki.
- 1:08:42Speaker 7: I mean, yeah, I mean. Because we have to have
- 1:08:45Speaker 7: Loki in as many movies as possible. I mean, there's
- 1:08:46Speaker 7: going to be so much personalities going on. They have
- 1:08:49Speaker 7: a hell of a job writing that script. Because I
- 1:08:52Speaker 7: feel like this will really be the real pivot towards Thanos. Like,
- 1:08:56Speaker 7: they have to be going after Infinity Stones in this.
- 1:08:58Speaker 7: I don't see how they aren't. actually seeking the stones
- 1:09:01Speaker 7: at this point are we caught up with all of.
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: Them i think we're missing one i was i did
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: the rundown yeah too and.
- 1:09:07Speaker 4: I was like because we got red i think i was.
- 1:09:10Speaker 7: Like yeah i think we still need one more we.
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: Got red we got green we got the.
- 1:09:14Speaker 7: Purple one in guardians purple Blue. Vision, because yeah, Vision
- 1:09:18Speaker 7: has the.
- 1:09:19Speaker 4: And what's left? Like an orange one?
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of what they are. Because it
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: listed them all in something I was looking at earlier.
- 1:09:24Speaker 4: Because there was red.
- 1:09:25Speaker 7: Because there was Loki's staff.
- 1:09:27Speaker 5: It's blue.
- 1:09:27Speaker 7: The Tesseract cube. One of those ended up becoming a
- 1:09:30Speaker 7: thing in Vision's head.
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: Yellow.
- 1:09:32Speaker 7: There was the one in the second Thor movie.
- 1:09:35Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:09:35Speaker 7: What was the red? Okay, then we've had the green one.
- 1:09:38Speaker 7: The Guardians of the Galaxy.
- 1:09:39Speaker 6: Purple.
- 1:09:40Speaker 4: And the Eye of Agamotto.
- 1:09:42Speaker 6: Green.
- 1:09:42Speaker 4: So I think it's an orange one that's left.
- 1:09:44Speaker 7: Okay, so five. There's one more, which I'm assuming is
- 1:09:46Speaker 7: coming in Ragnarok. So, and that's just introduction. Someone still
- 1:09:49Speaker 7: has to collect them. I would think that Thor's visions, whatever,
- 1:09:52Speaker 7: whatever he's doing running around, I'm assuming the light bulb's
- 1:09:56Speaker 7: finally going to go off in this movie where it's like,
- 1:09:58Speaker 7: wait a minute, someone's collecting these things. And that will
- 1:10:02Speaker 7: lead into, you know, our last phase. But it's just, man,
- 1:10:05Speaker 7: that's a tough script. Hulk, Strange, Thor... That's the.
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: Saving grace for me is Hulk. Because I'm afraid it's
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: just going to be like the other Thor movies otherwise.
- 1:10:21Speaker 7: Well, they're going to do Planet Hulk with him, though.
- 1:10:22Speaker 7: So it's not like he's going to be a cameo.
- 1:10:25Speaker 7: If it's going to be a lot of Hulk kicking ass.
- 1:10:27Speaker 7: He's obviously not going to stay on the planet. But
- 1:10:29Speaker 7: there's some... I have heard, spoiler, that there is a
- 1:10:33Speaker 7: gladiator fight scene where he kind of like... It's confirmed
- 1:10:37Speaker 7: he's like Planet Hulk now. There's some kind of him
- 1:10:40Speaker 7: and Thor by some huge fucking creature. And after that,
- 1:10:43Speaker 7: it's like Hulk is a little smarter now or something.
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: I wouldn't be surprised if it's literally going to be
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: like 15 or 20 minutes of Planet Hulk. Like it's
- 1:10:50Speaker 4: going to be like an overwatch. opening scene.
- 1:10:52Speaker 7: Oh yeah, it's not gonna dominate the movie.
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: For whatever reason, we're opening on some rando planet in
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: some arena.
- 1:10:57Speaker 7: And maybe that planet'll have a gem. Maybe that'll be
- 1:10:59Speaker 7: the weird tie-in. Like, oh look, there's this orange stone
- 1:11:02Speaker 7: and this dude's sword. I don't know if I'm looking
- 1:11:04Speaker 7: for that other one.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: I've got this glove that needs something.
- 1:11:06Speaker 7: I'm curious which one it is, though.
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: Hulk is there, Thor drops in and is like, hey,
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: I heard you need some help. And Doctor Strange shows
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: up there, too, because he's running around being buddy cops.
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: And other universes. I don't know.
- 1:11:19Speaker 7: Maybe that'll be where Odin is. They can always make
- 1:11:22Speaker 7: it like that. Like maybe Loki put Odin on some
- 1:11:25Speaker 7: little old time planet and they go there to get
- 1:11:29Speaker 7: him and they have to fight all this stuff to
- 1:11:30Speaker 7: get him.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: I don't know. I feel like that's the most interesting
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: thing I've heard about. Because again, that second movie, it
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: was just like, again, it's just a whole lot of fighting.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: And I'm like, I don't, it looks cool. I don't
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: hate it.
- 1:11:42Speaker 7: I just don't care.
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: Like I just, by the end of it, I'm like,
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: all right, and now we're going to go back to
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: a real story where the Avengers come in. And I'm
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: just like, They're always just a, like a, they veer
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: off and do this other little side story that sometimes
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: doesn't even factor in. So my, we're at least this one,
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: we're going to have an end result. We're going to have,
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: I'm assuming the other stone and, but adding the Hulk
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: to it at least gives it something else that makes
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: it different from those other Thor movies.
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: I'm got a little more interest now that now that
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: I've heard that, that again, I think it goes back
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: to what we said earlier.
- 1:12:11Speaker 7: They, for some reason they feel like any villain they
- 1:12:15Speaker 7: introduce has to die before it's over.
- 1:12:17Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:12:18Speaker 7: And I don't, Why can't they just be defeated and
- 1:12:20Speaker 7: get away? You don't have to kill the villain at
- 1:12:24Speaker 7: the end of the story. It's okay if you beat
- 1:12:26Speaker 7: him and he gets away. At least then you have potential.
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: To do something else with him.
- 1:12:31Speaker 7: But it's just a way that they don't seem to care.
- 1:12:35Speaker 7: It's like we went back to a couple of times. Ultron, yeah,
- 1:12:39Speaker 7: he's going to die by the end of the movie.
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: Why?
- 1:12:41Speaker 7: He doesn't have to die. You don't have to kill him.
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: It's such a waste of It's such.
- 1:12:46Speaker 7: Shallow use of such, like I said, they have just
- 1:12:48Speaker 7: as much weight. I love Doom as much as I
- 1:12:52Speaker 7: love any Avenger. And if you do a Fantastic Four
- 1:12:54Speaker 7: movie or something with Doom and he died at the end,
- 1:12:56Speaker 7: I'd be furious. I'd be like, you killed Doom? He's
- 1:13:00Speaker 7: a great villain. Why would you kill him? You can
- 1:13:03Speaker 7: beat him all you want.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: You don't have to kill him. They all need to
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: learn something from Arkham.
- 1:13:06Speaker 7: Like, just keep him somewhere.
- 1:13:08Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:13:09Speaker 15: Create them all up somewhere there's your mirror zone like
- 1:13:12Speaker 15: create the whole weird prison thing they did in the
- 1:13:15Speaker 15: comic book version of civil war and put them put
- 1:13:17Speaker 15: them in that other dimension and have them break out
- 1:13:20Speaker 15: later like.
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: Hell we even did that with the avengers last movie
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: like they they put the avengers in prison right right
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: so i'm like.
- 1:13:27Speaker 7: We can't do that with the bad guys it was
- 1:13:29Speaker 7: in another dimension yeah they ripped a hole in a
- 1:13:31Speaker 7: dimension and created this prison You could have easily done that.
- 1:13:35Speaker 4: Yeah, Hank Pym made it, and he also miniaturized it, too.
- 1:13:37Speaker 4: It was in another dimension, and it was miniaturized.
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: Sneaky back.
- 1:13:41Speaker 4: It was way in there, like three ways from Sunday.
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: Nobody was going to get it.
- 1:13:45Speaker 8: Now they have Doctor Strange. You can just open up
- 1:13:47Speaker 8: a portal.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: Like, what if?
- 1:13:49Speaker 6: Yep.
- 1:13:50Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm disappointed with the way they treat villains. This
- 1:13:52Speaker 7: one's really... Like I said, not that Kaecilius was my favorite,
- 1:13:55Speaker 7: but the actor playing him made me go, oh, wow,
- 1:13:58Speaker 7: he's going to play Kaecilius?
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: He's got potential, yeah.
- 1:14:00Speaker 7: All right, this could be good. And then you got
- 1:14:02Speaker 7: old dude as Mordo. I'm like, okay, this is looking good.
- 1:14:05Speaker 7: So don't kill Baron Mordo in the next movie. Like
- 1:14:08Speaker 7: hopefully he sticks around kicking it with Loki and somehow
- 1:14:12Speaker 7: ends up with Thanos backstabbing or however they're going to
- 1:14:15Speaker 7: play that out. But I mean, it's just going to
- 1:14:19Speaker 7: feel really weak if in the end it's just Thanos.
- 1:14:22Speaker 7: Like he needs some other, you can't have all these
- 1:14:25Speaker 7: superheroes fighting one dude, even though that's how it was
- 1:14:27Speaker 7: in the comics. I don't think it'll be interesting to watch,
- 1:14:31Speaker 7: what is it, like 30-something, 40-something heroes fighting one dude?
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: Who's going to be your A team doing the Thanos fighting?
- 1:14:39Speaker 4: Who's going to be your B team doing.
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: Well, we know somewhere they're going to swoop in at
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: the last minute with Guardians of the Galaxy because they're
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: not really part of it, but they're going to be
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: in there.
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: And Ms.
- 1:14:49Speaker 8: Marvel.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: And Ms.
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: Marvel.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: We've got to work everybody in.
- 1:14:52Speaker 4: Okay, so the stones that they have so far. There's
- 1:14:56Speaker 4: the space stone. which is the Tesseract. The Reality Stone,
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: which is the Red Stone from Thor Dark World.
- 1:15:05Speaker 7: Right.
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: The Power Stone, which is the purple one.
- 1:15:09Speaker 7: Okay, that was Guardians.
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: The Mind Stone, which is the yellow one.
- 1:15:14Speaker 7: It was in Loki's staff, right? And then they ripped
- 1:15:17Speaker 7: it out and put it in Vision's head.
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: Isn't that how that worked?
- 1:15:19Speaker 7: So that's why Loki had some power.
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: Right, yeah, because it was the Mind Stone. And then
- 1:15:23Speaker 4: the Time Stone, which is the Anabagomoto.
- 1:15:25Speaker 7: So that's five. So what, power?
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: No, what's?
- 1:15:28Speaker 4: The Soul Stone is the one that's left.
- 1:15:30Speaker 7: Oh, we can bring someone back to life.
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: We can bring someone back to life.
- 1:15:35Speaker 7: Well, that's kind of interesting, though. I mean, I'm not
- 1:15:40Speaker 7: saying that you would bring Ultron back to fight, but
- 1:15:42Speaker 7: I mean, there has to be something.
- 1:15:44Speaker 14: About the Soul Stone.
- 1:15:46Speaker 7: He did become a conscious being.
- 1:15:48Speaker 4: In the comics, Adam Warlock has the Soul Gem.
- 1:15:54Speaker 7: Which was the stinger from Guardians of the Galaxy. When
- 1:15:56Speaker 7: are they going to introduce him? Because I don't think
- 1:15:58Speaker 7: he's in this next Guardians movie either.
- 1:16:00Speaker 4: Adam Warlock?
- 1:16:01Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:16:01Speaker 4: What was that in the stinger? I don't think I know.
- 1:16:04Speaker 7: Remember the Howard the Duck?
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:16:07Speaker 7: If you looked in the background, the cocoon that was
- 1:16:11Speaker 7: closed before is open during the stinger. So they acknowledged
- 1:16:15Speaker 7: Adam Warlock.
- 1:16:16Speaker 4: In the littlest way.
- 1:16:18Speaker 7: Acknowledged that Adam Warlock... If you've read the comic and
- 1:16:21Speaker 7: you know he's in that cocoon, but they haven't put
- 1:16:24Speaker 7: him on screen, it kind of makes me wonder if
- 1:16:26Speaker 7: they're going to. Because you wait too long, it's going
- 1:16:29Speaker 7: to feel really lame that this dude show up like, oh,
- 1:16:31Speaker 7: I got the last stone and I can do this guy.
- 1:16:34Speaker 7: Because in the comic, he is the main guy that
- 1:16:36Speaker 7: leads the charge against Thanos. So for him to not
- 1:16:38Speaker 7: be in it this late in the game.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: They kind of drug out the Thanos thing too long. Like, again,
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: it was the first Avengers movie. How many movies ago
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: was that? That he's like, all right, here I come.
- 1:16:48Speaker 7: I think that's how.
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: Four years ago.
- 1:16:50Speaker 7: It's so exponential, though. I think that Josh Brolin is.
- 1:16:54Speaker 4: Just sitting somewhere like, is it my turn yet?
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: Am I still getting paid for all these? At the
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: end of every other movie, I go, okay, now I'm
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: getting up. Don't make me get up.
- 1:17:03Speaker 7: I'm in my chair. I don't want to get up.
- 1:17:06Speaker 7: Every movie, he's just, fine, I'll do it my damn self.
- 1:17:08Speaker 7: you kids get my shoes.
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: I'm coming. It's just like, it's so dragging it out.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: I'm like, it better be pretty damned impressive.
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: Don't make me get my belt.
- 1:17:20Speaker 7: I mean, it's Avengers all over again. It was the
- 1:17:23Speaker 7: same way. Like, you know, that first time around we
- 1:17:25Speaker 7: had those four solo movies that came together and it
- 1:17:28Speaker 7: was so amazing. Like it's so next level. This is
- 1:17:32Speaker 7: going to be like 30 movies that come together for
- 1:17:36Speaker 7: one thing. Like it, the fact that they had that
- 1:17:39Speaker 7: super long-term vision and could tease you with them along
- 1:17:42Speaker 7: the way, you know, for me, it just gets me
- 1:17:43Speaker 7: excited because it's just knowing this is the big bad. Like,
- 1:17:47Speaker 7: we're beating bad guys, but this is the dude that's really, again,
- 1:17:50Speaker 7: you know, if they even kind of partially stick to
- 1:17:52Speaker 7: the comic, he's going to fuck some people up. This
- 1:17:55Speaker 7: dude's not going to go out easy. He's going to
- 1:17:58Speaker 7: fuck some people up.
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: Again, there should be stakes to this.
- 1:18:01Speaker 4: Yeah, my question is, once they get rid of Thanos
- 1:18:04Speaker 4: and resolve that, what happens next?
- 1:18:07Speaker 7: I'm the same way. I'm wondering, what do you do next?
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: Yesterday, when I was talking to somebody after the movie,
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: I was like, because we were talking about.
- 1:18:14Speaker 4: I mean, like, really, what happens next? Does Marvel sit?
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: You can't get much bigger than Thanos. Well, I mean,
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: are they done with this arc? Because that was my question.
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: I was like, okay, are we done? When we hit
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: the end of this main story, are we then going
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: to kind of, not necessarily reset it, but are we
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: going to, like, this death grip that she.
- 1:18:33Speaker 7: Has on this whole overview.
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: Are we going to let that go and be like, okay,
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: we're going to open it up to almost like what
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: the Star Wars universe is doing. We're going to let
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: them do outside stories with way more artsy directors that
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: are going to have to fit in this overview. And
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: we don't necessarily have to tie into the undertones. other universe.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: Unless we want to, we'll make use of it. But otherwise,
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: you can do kind of an outline story. with your
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: own weird characters from Marvel that you want to do.
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, I think at that point they could
- 1:18:59Speaker 4: literally pull names out of a hat and be like,
- 1:19:02Speaker 4: what Marvel property do we want to turn into something?
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: And give it to lesser known directors and let them
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: kind of do their own, because now they all have
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: to fit in the same little thing that they're building.
- 1:19:13Speaker 7: Nobody gets much play.
- 1:19:14Speaker 4: The only other big Marvel thing left is like House
- 1:19:18Speaker 4: of M.
- 1:19:19Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:19:20Speaker 4: You know, finding some way to merge the current MCU
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: with the X-Men.
- 1:19:25Speaker 7: Movie universe but that sucks because i feel like i
- 1:19:28Speaker 7: still want that good x-men run there's a part of
- 1:19:30Speaker 7: me it's like you do x-men next like you you
- 1:19:32Speaker 7: finish out thanos but on the side you look at
- 1:19:35Speaker 7: sony and go like you you've got about five more
- 1:19:37Speaker 7: years before we're gonna take that shit back and do
- 1:19:39Speaker 7: it right so you do your thing because i almost
- 1:19:41Speaker 7: feel like that's the other big one you can do
- 1:19:43Speaker 7: like there's x-men are my favorite like when it individuals
- 1:19:48Speaker 7: i love spider-man was like group stuff i was so
- 1:19:50Speaker 7: into 90s x-men a I would love all those characters' stories. Me, personally,
- 1:19:56Speaker 7: if you want to do a nice slow burn on
- 1:19:59Speaker 7: X-Men for 10 years after Thanos, I'm down if you
- 1:20:03Speaker 7: give it that heart.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: They all have their own solo Wolverine movie only for
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: every character.
- 1:20:08Speaker 7: The only thing that makes me happy about this Logan movie,
- 1:20:10Speaker 7: the only thing really.
- 1:20:13Speaker 7: This Logan movie might be really interesting, but the thing
- 1:20:15Speaker 7: that stands out to me that makes it really like,
- 1:20:17Speaker 7: oh my God, what is that? That girl is X-23.
- 1:20:20Speaker 7: It's confirmed that is X-23 on film. I'm stoked. I
- 1:20:24Speaker 7: want that girl to pop her claws. The fact that Logan,
- 1:20:28Speaker 7: I assume to some degree, is going to train her.
- 1:20:30Speaker 7: That makes me excited, but I'm like, for what, though?
- 1:20:33Speaker 7: So she can go back into the Sony movies? Like,
- 1:20:37Speaker 7: you have nowhere for her to go. Like, I like
- 1:20:39Speaker 7: what this Logan movie looks like it's doing. I just wish,
- 1:20:42Speaker 7: I hope that going forward, they do.
- 1:20:46Speaker 4: These X-Men stuff right. Like, don't get me wrong. Logan's
- 1:20:51Speaker 4: an important character in the X-Men. Out of all the
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: X-Men characters, Logan is the one that they focused on.
- 1:20:57Speaker 7: Banner, lighthouse character they've made him, and it just all
- 1:21:00Speaker 7: revolves around him.
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: It really does.
- 1:21:02Speaker 7: I mean, in the 90s, Wolverine had a lot of marks, but.
- 1:21:06Speaker 4: I think they could have done just as much more
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: with Gene.
- 1:21:11Speaker 10: Right.
- 1:21:12Speaker 6: Oh, no doubt.
- 1:21:13Speaker 4: Centering around Gene than Logan.
- 1:21:14Speaker 7: Yeah, Dark Phoenix saga needs to happen.
- 1:21:16Speaker 6: Like.
- 1:21:17Speaker 7: And I'm talking about that slow burn. Her and Cyclops,
- 1:21:20Speaker 7: you know, slowly falling in love. That whole mission that
- 1:21:23Speaker 7: led to the crash in the water. I mean, I
- 1:21:25Speaker 7: want that slow burn. The Shi'ar Empire jumping in there.
- 1:21:26Speaker 7: Her slowly turning evil and using her powers. I want
- 1:21:29Speaker 7: that slow burn that leads to that whole... And I mean...
- 1:21:32Speaker 7: Because it... I always felt like that's what.
- 1:21:36Speaker 4: I always felt like.
- 1:21:37Speaker 7: That's what the Dark Willow season of Buffy was. It
- 1:21:41Speaker 7: was like Joss doing his Dark Phoenix saga. Even the
- 1:21:44Speaker 7: way Xander has that heart-to-heart with Dan felt like Cyclops
- 1:21:47Speaker 7: having that heart-to-heart with Jean at Dan.
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: I was like, this is so... No, that wouldn't be Cyclops.
- 1:21:51Speaker 4: That would be Wolverine. But I mean, in the comic,
- 1:21:54Speaker 4: it was Cyclops, right?
- 1:21:55Speaker 7: That's like Jean, you know, and pulls her good side back.
- 1:21:58Speaker 4: It's always Logan.
- 1:21:59Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:21:59Speaker 7: Wasn't Logan in the comic? I thought Dark Phoenix stuff,
- 1:22:03Speaker 7: I thought it was Cyclops that got her to come
- 1:22:05Speaker 7: back at the end.
- 1:22:06Speaker 4: So Cyclops and Jean always have that connection because for
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: whatever reason, they're fated to have that connection. But whenever
- 1:22:12Speaker 4: she goes crazy and goes into Dark Phoenix... Is it
- 1:22:15Speaker 4: Logan that brought her out? It's Logan that always comes
- 1:22:17Speaker 4: back and brings her back because he's kind of the
- 1:22:18Speaker 4: only one that can physically... Well, yeah, she's the only
- 1:22:24Speaker 4: one that can physically take just about anything that she
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: dishes out or that she's like holding back for him
- 1:22:30Speaker 4: because there's some weird connection between him and her there
- 1:22:34Speaker 4: too that only, and that sort of messes up Scott
- 1:22:40Speaker 4: and Logan too because Scott's kind of jealous of that
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: part of it. You know, usually Scott ends up dying
- 1:22:47Speaker 4: or being sort of, take it out of the equation
- 1:22:50Speaker 4: one way or the other. But Logan comes back.
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: And brings it back.
- 1:22:52Speaker 7: I just remember there was a point where Dark Phoenix
- 1:22:55Speaker 7: came out of Dark Phoenix for a moment. Her and
- 1:22:57Speaker 7: Scott made love or had some moment on a mountaintop.
- 1:23:00Speaker 7: And there was something weird. No, for real. And there
- 1:23:02Speaker 7: was something where she gave him, they established telepathy. There
- 1:23:08Speaker 7: was something where she was like, do you want to
- 1:23:10Speaker 7: be in my mind and me in yours? She kind
- 1:23:11Speaker 7: of asked him and he's like, yes. And it's like
- 1:23:13Speaker 7: from then on, he can kind of talk in her head.
- 1:23:15Speaker 7: And I thought that when the last shit was going down,
- 1:23:18Speaker 7: Scott was just pleading with her and talking about who
- 1:23:23Speaker 7: she was and how much he loved her. And I
- 1:23:25Speaker 7: thought it was... It doesn't matter, but I'm just saying
- 1:23:28Speaker 7: that kind of stuff could easily.
- 1:23:30Speaker 4: All that happened before she had died that time and
- 1:23:34Speaker 4: before he started having his relationship with Emma. Because there
- 1:23:39Speaker 4: was that thing going on for a long time when
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: Jean was dead. And then the Shi'ar came back for
- 1:23:45Speaker 4: some reason and resurrected Jean. Jean in order to kill her,
- 1:23:49Speaker 4: which was, or will in order to destroy the Phoenix entity.
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: And I remember, I remember reading like.
- 1:23:54Speaker 7: Cause she blew up that universe.
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: Yeah. And I remember reading one of them, like, you know,
- 1:23:57Speaker 4: how do you blow up a fraction of infinity? Like,
- 1:24:00Speaker 4: how do you destroy?
- 1:24:00Speaker 7: This is way too complicated.
- 1:24:04Speaker 4: But she came back and somehow Emma conned the Phoenix
- 1:24:10Speaker 4: out of Jean into her.
- 1:24:12Speaker 9: Oh.
- 1:24:13Speaker 4: And she kind of went crazy. Because she didn't know
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: how to control the Phoenix. And something with Scott popped
- 1:24:21Speaker 4: up in there, too, that Jean didn't like, that she
- 1:24:23Speaker 4: realized that Emma and Scott had been a thing for
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: a while.
- 1:24:29Speaker 7: Which was weird.
- 1:24:29Speaker 4: Yeah, it went all crazy. So Jean eventually ended up
- 1:24:32Speaker 4: literally ripping the Phoenix out of Emma, taking it back.
- 1:24:36Speaker 4: It's ironic because the Dark Phoenix established.
- 1:24:40Speaker 7: So much great stuff for X-Men, but ultimately they regurgitated
- 1:24:43Speaker 7: it so much and ended up bringing it back. Like when,
- 1:24:46Speaker 7: what was it? The X-Men vs.
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: Avengers.
- 1:24:48Speaker 7: Ended up being about Phoenix shit. Like some of the
- 1:24:50Speaker 7: Phoenix came back again and gave like Scott and like
- 1:24:53Speaker 7: Namor and a couple people the power to Phoenix. Like, guys,
- 1:24:58Speaker 7: I get the Phoenix. The Phoenix saga is great. It
- 1:25:00Speaker 7: is one of the greatest story arcs I've read in comics.
- 1:25:03Speaker 7: But let it go. Like, let it go.
- 1:25:05Speaker 4: Oh, Galactus is showing up? Hey, Phoenix, where you at?
- 1:25:09Speaker 7: Throw up the Phoenix signal.
- 1:25:10Speaker 9: Phoenix away!
- 1:25:12Speaker 7: No, it is interesting because, I mean, you know, you
- 1:25:15Speaker 7: have Marvel Studios now. They're not just going to, like,
- 1:25:17Speaker 7: at the end of the Thanos movie go, well, we're done.
- 1:25:20Speaker 7: I mean, they're going to do something. So either it's
- 1:25:22Speaker 7: a reboot everything or.
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: I feel like that's what I'm like. I think they're
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: going to hand it off and be like, okay, we're
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: just not... Again, because they're on Disney now and, like,
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: Disney's okay with that. They're like, we're going to do
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: this Star Wars saga and then we're going to do
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: individual Star Wars universe movies. So I think they're going
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: to have to let go of that grip. That's like,
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: everything has to fit in this universe. Where they're going
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: to be like, just do your side story. And take
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: all your Marvel characters you want to and do your
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: own thing with them. They're going to have to somewhere
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: down the line. You can't keep doing this arc forever.
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: Sooner or later.
- 1:25:57Speaker 7: Just the actors and stuff get old too. You can't
- 1:26:00Speaker 7: play Captain America anymore.
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: You're great. I feel like that's definitely going to have
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: to happen. The other thing I was noticing in all
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: of this, while we're just doing general Marvel craziness, what
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: I keep seeing in the series world, not so much
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: in the movie world, but the series seems like it's
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: getting closer and closer to the X-Men existence of, oh,
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: you're one of them.
- 1:26:24Speaker 7: Yeah, people know you.
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: There's a lot of that in Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.
- 1:26:28Speaker 7: There's a lot of, oh, you're one of them.
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: So I'm like, are we going to build this world
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: where it's, humans versus the powers people? Is it going
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: to start segmenting them off?
- 1:26:40Speaker 4: That whole civil rights issue of mutants versus non-mutants was
- 1:26:46Speaker 4: a big thing that hit well for X-Men anyway. That
- 1:26:49Speaker 4: stands to reason that that's kind of what Marvel has
- 1:26:53Speaker 4: that they can use right now is in humans.
- 1:26:55Speaker 7: That's what I was going to say.
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: When they don't have the X-Men to pull from, are
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: they still going to bother to do that in this
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: other you know again i don't think they're bothering with
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: the movie universe because it's got a bigger arc going
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: on but i think they're doing it they feel like
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: they're kind of leading there they're.
- 1:27:09Speaker 4: Doing it in the way that makes the most sense
- 1:27:11Speaker 4: for today yeah like if they were trying to do.
- 1:27:14Speaker 7: This frighteningly accurate yeah if they were.
- 1:27:17Speaker 4: Trying to do this like 20 or 30 years ago
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: it'd be a completely set of a completely different set
- 1:27:21Speaker 4: of storylines.
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: Yes which is why i think the shifting in civil
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: war worked pretty well too because it It plays on
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: more of the stuff that's going on now and in
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: that storyline versus what was going on in the comic
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: when they wrote it. So they can kind of update
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: that stuff and change it so that it works better
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: watching it now. So I'm just kind of interested to
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: see where they go with that storyline and if they're
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: going to keep building up this thing with each new
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: series that crosses over as we get back to Daredevil
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: and as we get another Jessica Jones.
- 1:27:52Speaker 7: And we start getting all of this.
- 1:27:54Speaker 4: Heroes for Hire.
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: Yeah. I feel like they're going to have to finish
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: out that plot somewhere down there where they're like, either
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: everybody becomes okay with these characters or they have problems
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: with them and want to start segmenting people. It can
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: go a couple of interesting ways. I'm interested to see
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: what they do with that.
- 1:28:15Speaker 7: They need to just buy DC. hey i mean that's
- 1:28:19Speaker 7: not about the perfect cycle i mean you you finish
- 1:28:21Speaker 7: this out you do thanos you buy dc then you
- 1:28:25Speaker 7: spend 10 years doing a dc movies and go all
- 1:28:28Speaker 7: right it's been 10 12 years let's go back to
- 1:28:30Speaker 7: marvel let's do marvel again that was.
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: One of my favorite little geek world things that i
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: just saw it was on the teen titans this new
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: version of teen titans and they were they were the
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: one where they go to try to pretend like they're
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: being the Justice League and And they're all dressed in
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: their outfits, and they're like, oh, the real Justice League's.
- 1:28:47Speaker 7: Been kidnapped by Darkseid. And he's like, he's more powerful
- 1:28:49Speaker 7: than him.
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: They're like, more powerful than Superman?
- 1:28:51Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:28:52Speaker 7: More powerful than Wonder Woman?
- 1:28:53Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:28:53Speaker 7: More powerful than Spider-Man?
- 1:28:55Speaker 5: Well, Spider-Man wouldn't fight him.
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: And they're like, well, why not? Well, he just wouldn't. Well,
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: that just kind of makes him lazy, doesn't it?
- 1:29:02Speaker 7: He's like, I've lost a lot of respect for Spider-Man.
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: I was like, there's a lot of clever DC Marvel
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: jokes in the middle of Teen Titans. I thought that
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: was funny.
- 1:29:10Speaker 7: Not to get really crazy, but if Disney... by DC
- 1:29:15Speaker 7: talk about revolutionary like I know some people would hate
- 1:29:18Speaker 7: that I'm even about to say this but if you
- 1:29:20Speaker 7: put DC and Marvel not in the same world but
- 1:29:23Speaker 7: go they are parallel dimensions where they can interact I
- 1:29:26Speaker 7: want to read that Spider-Man Flash crossover I want to
- 1:29:29Speaker 7: read that Batman Wolverine crossover I want to read so
- 1:29:33Speaker 7: many of those people working together or fighting people together
- 1:29:38Speaker 7: that that opens everything they had.
- 1:29:40Speaker 4: A Batman Wolverine crossover way back when called was it
- 1:29:43Speaker 4: Dark Claw the Amalgam crossover.
- 1:29:47Speaker 7: Hawkeye versus Green Arrow. Yeah, what was in the 90s? Well,
- 1:29:50Speaker 7: that's what's so weird. I think I mentioned this before, actually,
- 1:29:53Speaker 7: where everything is so Coke and Pepsi with comics right now.
- 1:29:56Speaker 7: DC people hate Marvel, Marvel hates DC. It didn't used
- 1:29:59Speaker 7: to be like that. I remember in the 90s, they
- 1:30:01Speaker 7: had a crossover over the summer where they pitted DC
- 1:30:05Speaker 7: people versus Marvel people and they let the fans vote
- 1:30:08Speaker 7: and the votes decided who would win in the issues.
- 1:30:11Speaker 7: And it was like, Superman versus Captain America, Batman versus Wolverine,
- 1:30:17Speaker 7: Spider-Man versus... I kind of remember that, yeah. But they
- 1:30:20Speaker 7: were all matched up with the big guys from both sides.
- 1:30:23Speaker 4: Damage control, that's who they were called.
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: Ah, the clean-up crew. Interesting, right on.
- 1:30:28Speaker 7: So is it going to happen?
- 1:30:29Speaker 4: Are they talking about it? See, I don't... This article's
- 1:30:33Speaker 4: a year old, so I don't know. So not anytime soon.
- 1:30:37Speaker 4: I know it's been thrown around. as a possible like
- 1:30:41Speaker 4: series to, um, to accompany agents of shield. Like it was,
- 1:30:47Speaker 4: I guess like a, like a offshoot.
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: Still going to be TV based.
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:30:51Speaker 4: And the whole idea is to all the stuff that
- 1:30:53Speaker 4: goes into the cleanup of everything that all the Marvel
- 1:30:57Speaker 4: superheroes go through. And every time like buildings get damaged,
- 1:31:00Speaker 4: like who, who takes care of the leftovers and the
- 1:31:03Speaker 4: shit afterwards in this group called the damage control. And
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: they're just, they're just people. Like none of them really
- 1:31:07Speaker 4: have any special powers. There may be like one or two,
- 1:31:10Speaker 4: but they're just people that go around and like help
- 1:31:13Speaker 4: out everybody else after and, you know, do, do the
- 1:31:16Speaker 4: damage control. They're like a, I think they're like an
- 1:31:18Speaker 4: insurance agency. Interesting. It was, was essentially the, the whole
- 1:31:22Speaker 4: thing that I think they worked alongside shield in order to,
- 1:31:30Speaker 4: that was their, their literal like cleanup crew in order
- 1:31:33Speaker 4: to just like help take care of people. But yeah,
- 1:31:38Speaker 4: there's been show ideas to throw it around, but so
- 1:31:41Speaker 4: far as I've heard, nothing new as far as if
- 1:31:44Speaker 4: it's getting off the ground.
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: It seems like that would be hard to make work.
- 1:31:48Speaker 7: You would need a lot of cameos. You would need
- 1:31:51Speaker 7: a lot of cameos. At the very least, the beginning
- 1:31:55Speaker 7: needs to be a big fight, and then it's them
- 1:31:58Speaker 7: cleaning up afterwards, talking shit about.
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: It or something.
- 1:32:00Speaker 4: I think that's the problem, is that it's so going
- 1:32:02Speaker 4: to be centered around the fallout from... other superheroes doing stuff.
- 1:32:08Speaker 7: It's like, how many catastrophes can we have in a
- 1:32:10Speaker 7: season so that there's enough?
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:32:12Speaker 7: I would like to see shield connect with the Netflix shit.
- 1:32:15Speaker 7: Like why is it? I mean, that is at least
- 1:32:17Speaker 7: the same universe, right?
- 1:32:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:32:19Speaker 7: The TV Marvel.
- 1:32:20Speaker 4: So why hasn't TV Marvel, they showed up in hell's kitchen,
- 1:32:24Speaker 4: but for some reason they don't want to, they don't
- 1:32:26Speaker 4: want to cross over. They don't want to cross-contaminate.
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: I'm kind of okay with that, just because I love
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: what they're doing on the Netflix one, and I don't
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: really care about the S.H.I.E.L.D.
- 1:32:36Speaker 4: I would at least like S.H.I.E.L.D. to acknowledge that there
- 1:32:39Speaker 4: are things going on that people, that they have agents
- 1:32:43Speaker 4: looking into.
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: They're too bottled.
- 1:32:45Speaker 7: It feels bottled on S.H.I.E.L.D.
- 1:32:53Speaker 4: Could you guys go check that out? All right, move
- 1:32:55Speaker 4: on to the rest of the storyline.
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: And at this point, aren't they all just agents of
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: Hydra anyway?
- 1:33:00Speaker 4: I mean, S.H.I.E.L.D.
- 1:33:01Speaker 7: Is kind of- They kept the title name after the movie.
- 1:33:04Speaker 4: I was like, S.H.I.E.L.D.
- 1:33:04Speaker 7: Is kind of not S.H.I.E.L.D., right?
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: That's what we've learned. So agents of Hydra coming this fall.
- 1:33:10Speaker 7: That's funny. I never thought about that, how.
- 1:33:12Speaker 4: It kind of- And I think that's still kind of-
- 1:33:15Speaker 4: That was the one good thing that S.H.I.E.L.D. had as
- 1:33:19Speaker 4: a villain was another organization like Hydra.
- 1:33:22Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:33:22Speaker 4: And now kind of without Hydra, S.H.I.E.L.D. is in this
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: weird place. They don't have.
- 1:33:26Speaker 7: It goes back to the whole villain thing. They don't
- 1:33:29Speaker 7: have identity. They don't have the villains right. You don't
- 1:33:32Speaker 7: have Hulk Hogan without Rowdy Roddy Piper. You need that
- 1:33:35Speaker 7: bad guy too. And they keep just throwing the bad
- 1:33:38Speaker 7: guys over the cliff.
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: And it's... I mean, Hydra's still out there. They're just not.
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: I like that. It was so ingrained into our game.
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: world into our lives that we didn't even know what
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: was going on that i kind of feel like there
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: is a bigger threat that's just kind of waiting out
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: there that's still more or less hydra in this new
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: cut off the head a bigger head appears hydra vision you.
- 1:34:04Speaker 7: Know they could do to fear stuff wasn't it was
- 1:34:07Speaker 7: it uh the red skull's daughter that found the weird
- 1:34:10Speaker 7: power source what was it like five years ago i
- 1:34:12Speaker 7: was in comics where there was like i don't remember
- 1:34:14Speaker 7: there was like these weird Amulets or gems or something.
- 1:34:18Speaker 7: It wasn't Infinity Stone stuff, but it was something because
- 1:34:21Speaker 7: it wasn't about power. It had something to do with
- 1:34:23Speaker 7: like when the person touched it, their consciousness was like
- 1:34:26Speaker 7: overtaken by like. this entity that was just called fear.
- 1:34:30Speaker 7: And it was just about the, it was a little
- 1:34:32Speaker 7: bit like that. Um, the, uh, the dark green lantern
- 1:34:35Speaker 7: shit that happened.
- 1:34:36Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:34:37Speaker 7: It was kind of like that, but it was in
- 1:34:38Speaker 7: a Marvel universe. Cause like the word touched one and
- 1:34:40Speaker 7: he was immediately like evil.
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: It was weird.
- 1:34:42Speaker 7: Cause good guys and bad guys ended up touching these five,
- 1:34:45Speaker 7: six stones and they all became like this evil click.
- 1:34:49Speaker 7: And I want to say the main entity, it was
- 1:34:51Speaker 7: called like fear. But that would be some, I'm just
- 1:34:54Speaker 7: thinking like what you do after Thanos. That's something you
- 1:34:56Speaker 7: could do where it grabs people here and there. You
- 1:34:59Speaker 7: could do that in one or two movies.
- 1:35:01Speaker 4: I mean, that sounds like that would work pretty well
- 1:35:03Speaker 4: for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as it is now. It's a
- 1:35:05Speaker 4: pretty low ball.
- 1:35:05Speaker 7: Yeah, they can even be investigating that stuff now.
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: Like not just superheroes, just like other or lesser heroes.
- 1:35:11Speaker 7: Because it was a Hydra thing. It ends up it
- 1:35:12Speaker 7: was the Red Skull's daughter found like her dad's diary
- 1:35:17Speaker 7: something about some hidden thing that he was working on
- 1:35:20Speaker 7: it's like in Antarctica and she digs and she finds
- 1:35:22Speaker 7: something I forget the way it literally worked but it
- 1:35:25Speaker 7: was something where she had coordinates for like these objects
- 1:35:29Speaker 7: or these weapons but like as soon as you touched
- 1:35:32Speaker 7: it like it took over you and so like while
- 1:35:34Speaker 7: everyone's out trying to get these things some good guys
- 1:35:36Speaker 7: touched it too so it was this weird thing where
- 1:35:38Speaker 7: you had like bad guys and good guys, but they
- 1:35:41Speaker 7: were all in this clique together, like, trying to destroy
- 1:35:43Speaker 7: the Earth and stuff. It was neat. It was good for, like,
- 1:35:45Speaker 7: a one-shot kind of thing, but that'd be fun in
- 1:35:48Speaker 7: a movie. It'd be fun to see, like, an evil
- 1:35:50Speaker 7: Thor and an evil Hulk, like, a truly evil Hulk.
- 1:35:53Speaker 7: Because that's a movie in itself. You could do a
- 1:35:56Speaker 7: whole movie with just them fighting the Hulk.
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: It's just sheer destruction the whole time.
- 1:35:59Speaker 7: Because, I mean, that's what leads to Planet Hulk. Like,
- 1:36:01Speaker 7: when they realize they can't beat the Hulk.
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Period.
- 1:36:04Speaker 7: You can't. You just have to, like, knock them off
- 1:36:06Speaker 7: the planet because you don't know what to do with them. Yeah.
- 1:36:09Speaker 4: It's like, go sit in a corner.
- 1:36:11Speaker 7: Go sit in the other corner of the known existence.
- 1:36:14Speaker 4: It's like, just rampage through that planet for a while.
- 1:36:17Speaker 4: We'll call you when we need you.
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: Just leave us alone. Well, as usual, that's why it's
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: the Marvel Super Special. We've been all over the map
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: with Marvel. So, just to wrap up the Doctor Strange thing,
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: I mean, I've certainly given my take on it, so
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: I don't know. What is sort of the wrap-up you've
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: all had with The experience as a whole, I guess,
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: with Doctor Strange.
- 1:36:40Speaker 4: I'm curious to see what they'll do with Mordo and
- 1:36:43Speaker 4: a possible second movie if there's a second movie. But
- 1:36:48Speaker 4: I wouldn't be surprised and I wouldn't be sad if
- 1:36:53Speaker 4: they didn't make a second movie. So long as they
- 1:36:56Speaker 4: still use Mordo. Which they must since they put that
- 1:37:00Speaker 4: stinger in there.
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: Right. Yeah. They're planning something.
- 1:37:04Speaker 4: I like what they've done. with with dr strange with
- 1:37:08Speaker 4: even what little i.
- 1:37:09Speaker 7: Know he looks great i think he looked in that
- 1:37:11Speaker 7: the end shots looks great everything.
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: I think the effects were all really good too i'm.
- 1:37:16Speaker 4: Curious to see where they take his character and and
- 1:37:19Speaker 4: where he takes everyone else.
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: And on that stinger thing i was going into that
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: earlier that that benjamin bratt guy that we all you
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: know our favorite dude from miss congeniality he is an
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: original character he's not part of the that character name
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: that that there is no story arc with him. So
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: they created him for this movie.
- 1:37:38Speaker 4: For some reason, I was thinking they were going to
- 1:37:40Speaker 4: throw in like Fing Fang Foom in there.
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: Well, I'm like, that seems like that's too, like, again,
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: it's rare that they would get even a, you know,
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: a semi-known actor to play nobody. So the fact that
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: they planted him in there, that far in I'm just
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: like you know somewhere down the line they've got something
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: in mind for him right like he's going to come
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: back and be magical and fight with Doctor Strange somewhere
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: down the line or something like that or he's going
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: to be a villain somewhere down the line something's going
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: to happen with that character because it'd be different if
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: it was like an in joke for the comic books
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: but he's not it's an original creation that I'm like
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: okay that means they're planning something especially casting it with
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: somebody that's a known actor I.
- 1:38:21Speaker 7: Got the impression it was it was a writer's way
- 1:38:24Speaker 7: to get him to the ancient one. Instead of having
- 1:38:26Speaker 7: him like, you know, trying to do a montage of
- 1:38:28Speaker 7: him scouring the earth. I think it does. up stuff
- 1:38:30Speaker 7: online it was it was a way to have a
- 1:38:32Speaker 7: local guy that could go hey you should go over there.
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: It was a very practical way to do that instead
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: of years and years which again they still do years
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: and years but they don't tell us about it is
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: the problem.
- 1:38:43Speaker 7: I think I wish I would have like I I
- 1:38:45Speaker 7: enjoyed the movie being someone that came you know from
- 1:38:47Speaker 7: reading comics I felt like again it's where it My
- 1:38:50Speaker 7: view skews. I don't know if I can say it's
- 1:38:52Speaker 7: a good movie, but as someone that read the comic,
- 1:38:54Speaker 7: I really enjoyed this movie as a representation of the comic.
- 1:38:58Speaker 7: I wish instead of Kaecilius, they would have did his
- 1:39:00Speaker 7: original kind of first rival, Nightmare, because you could have
- 1:39:06Speaker 7: had him training and having maybe these really fucked up
- 1:39:10Speaker 7: dreams where you have this weird visual battles where he's
- 1:39:13Speaker 7: somehow being harassed by Nightmare and maybe the Ancient One
- 1:39:17Speaker 7: has to kind of help him deal with that. I
- 1:39:19Speaker 7: would have liked To have seen something like that where
- 1:39:21Speaker 7: it still would have had him training the whole time
- 1:39:25Speaker 7: and even being mentored more instead of just out the gate,
- 1:39:28Speaker 7: like killed his guy. It could have been structured a
- 1:39:30Speaker 7: little differently.
- 1:39:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I think a little more training and a little
- 1:39:33Speaker 4: more that nod to where, oh yeah, he's a good study,
- 1:39:38Speaker 4: but he still needs to actually learn through and train
- 1:39:40Speaker 4: things and figure out things and get over his own
- 1:39:43Speaker 4: self in order to get through it would have served
- 1:39:45Speaker 4: a lot better.
- 1:39:46Speaker 5: Yeah, I think so.
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: Because I feel like it is just sort of thrown
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: at us. And we don't know why.
- 1:39:52Speaker 4: His whole training happened too quick. I didn't get any
- 1:39:55Speaker 4: kind of.
- 1:39:56Speaker 8: Sense of time.
- 1:39:56Speaker 4: It was super condensed.
- 1:39:57Speaker 8: Everything did seem kind of rushed with his training. And
- 1:40:00Speaker 8: then him just suddenly being great.
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: And also not being a dick.
- 1:40:05Speaker 7: He's just a jerk.
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: And then all of a sudden he's like, I'm going
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: to save the universe. When did this happen? The other thing,
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: back to my point about the series having such well-written characters...
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: whatever notebook girl has nothing to do in this. No offense,
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: she seems like a decent actress, but I'm like, that
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: character is so wasted.
- 1:40:27Speaker 4: Even she mentioned that everything he's done is still self-serving.
- 1:40:32Speaker 4: He didn't really save the world because the world needed
- 1:40:35Speaker 4: to be saved. He saved the world because.
- 1:40:37Speaker 7: His life was in danger.
- 1:40:40Speaker 4: It was in his best interest that the world was saved,
- 1:40:43Speaker 4: not really because it needed to be saved. So he
- 1:40:44Speaker 4: still keeps that that that um a little bit of
- 1:40:48Speaker 4: arrogance about his character that keeps it true and i.
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: Think i think that almost has to be there like
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: that's still part of who he is yeah that's how
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: i caught it like when everything got wrapped up in
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: it and he got thrown into the the new york
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: sanctum and he had he had to fight for his
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: life because he didn't want to die i mean who
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: wants to die there's a way to balance that though
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: because that's what i've been so impressed with with that
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: tony stark character because he's still an arrogant prick but
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: he you see the nobility in him that like you
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: can't deny him like damn it he's a good guy
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: like at heart he still wants to be the best
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: person he can be.
- 1:41:25Speaker 4: Now he's also looking out for you know the betterment
- 1:41:28Speaker 4: of of his own property too as far as stark
- 1:41:31Speaker 4: tech like he doesn't want all the things that he's
- 1:41:33Speaker 4: created To get into the wrong hands and be used
- 1:41:36Speaker 4: for the wrong reasons.
- 1:41:38Speaker 7: He learned that lesson in the beginning.
- 1:41:40Speaker 4: After finally actually seeing what they do. What the things
- 1:41:45Speaker 4: that he builds, what they're actually used for. Instead of just, oh,
- 1:41:49Speaker 4: I built this cool thing. Hey, you guys can have it.
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: How much?
- 1:41:53Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:41:53Speaker 4: And for him, it wasn't even about dollar signs. It
- 1:41:56Speaker 4: was just something cool to build and someone else could use.
- 1:41:58Speaker 7: Just him trying to outdo his father and stuff, too.
- 1:42:01Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:42:01Speaker 4: Until he realized that, oh, this shit actually does damage.
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: I feel like that is showing what you can do
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: with a character. And again, of the problems that have
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: been in some of the bigger Marvel movies, that character's
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: always been impressive. And I'm fine with the Doctor Strange,
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: but I don't get that dynamic from him. It just
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: seems a little more... just cut and dry of like, okay,
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: I'm a jerk. Okay.
- 1:42:26Speaker 4: I got it.
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: It's just kind of filling in the blanks of what
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: we need to happen in this movie.
- 1:42:31Speaker 7: Honestly, in a comic, I don't remember many storylines that
- 1:42:35Speaker 7: are about personal shit. It's always this demon, this dimension,
- 1:42:38Speaker 7: this entity, this thing.
- 1:42:40Speaker 4: It's never like, I'm Doctor Strange. I'm the shit. Let's
- 1:42:43Speaker 4: take care of it.
- 1:42:44Speaker 7: Yeah, it's never about him at home. There's no demon
- 1:42:47Speaker 7: in a bottle episode. It's just him as the source
- 1:42:49Speaker 7: of Supreme. So he's not one of those personable kind
- 1:42:52Speaker 7: of characters, even in the comic.
- 1:42:53Speaker 4: He's just an eccentric dude in the background.
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: So maybe I had the right reaction to this movie.
- 1:42:58Speaker 7: It's not personable at all for me. And in the comic,
- 1:43:00Speaker 7: he's a lot like Tony Stark. So I know, not
- 1:43:04Speaker 7: defending the movie, the movie definitely has an Iron Man
- 1:43:06Speaker 7: formula going on. But in the comic world, They're very similar.
- 1:43:10Speaker 7: They're both narcissistic people that think they know what's right.
- 1:43:13Speaker 8: Makeable to see them interact.
- 1:43:16Speaker 4: And they both feel they have the power to change
- 1:43:19Speaker 4: the things for the better of everyone.
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: Is that where everyone lands on it?
- 1:43:23Speaker 7: It's functional.
- 1:43:25Speaker 4: Yeah. I liked it.
- 1:43:27Speaker 7: When I read the comic, I was happy. And like
- 1:43:31Speaker 7: I said, I'm just kind of repeating myself now, but
- 1:43:33Speaker 7: I just felt like the comic was such a visual
- 1:43:35Speaker 7: thing more than it was a substance thing that I
- 1:43:37Speaker 7: was just like, this is going to have to be
- 1:43:38Speaker 7: super pretty to even kind of do what they do
- 1:43:41Speaker 7: on the pages. And they nailed that part.
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: It looks pretty good. Again, I was okay with that
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: aspect of it. Again, I just wanted something else.
- 1:43:48Speaker 7: I just wish it was utilized better. I feel like
- 1:43:49Speaker 7: if it had been Nightmare, it just could have been
- 1:43:52Speaker 7: something where he has these haunting dreams and he's being
- 1:43:56Speaker 7: attacked by this entity in this dreamlike world and have...
- 1:43:59Speaker 7: you know, first couple dreams, he gets killed or, you know,
- 1:44:02Speaker 7: is running away screaming. But by the end, he's standing
- 1:44:05Speaker 7: up to this nightmare entity in his dreams.
- 1:44:07Speaker 8: It could have been super surreal.
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:44:10Speaker 7: It would give you a reason to have those weird visuals.
- 1:44:13Speaker 4: Maybe the next movie, they will get Guillermo del Toro
- 1:44:15Speaker 4: to come in.
- 1:44:16Speaker 7: Oh, that'd be fantastic.
- 1:44:17Speaker 4: Do some screen direction.
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: Again, he's almost got too much style. That's what I'm saying.
- 1:44:21Speaker 7: They won't let directors with.
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: Too much style come on board. That's why I'd love
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: to see them like finish this section and be like, okay,
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: now we're going to let you guys do whatever you
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: want with them.
- 1:44:30Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:44:30Speaker 4: It's like, now he's here. How weird can we get?
- 1:44:33Speaker 7: Like Guillermo, you've got visual style.
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: You've got your own sense of the way you like
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: to structure your stories. Like go to town, do whatever
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: the hell you want with these properties. And then we'll
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: just get another hell boy, basically, which I'm fine with.
- 1:44:45Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: So, Yeah, I'd like, again, I'm kind of looking forward
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: to getting to that point too, as much as I
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: like what they're doing with some of these.
- 1:44:52Speaker 4: Because currently I can't think of anyone else off the
- 1:44:54Speaker 4: top of my head that would have just that weird,
- 1:44:58Speaker 4: surreal style that could make something that would work well
- 1:45:01Speaker 4: for Doctor Strange.
- 1:45:03Speaker 7: There's the dude that did Melancholia. What's that dude's name?
- 1:45:06Speaker 7: That loves the super slow motion.
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: Yeah, von Trier.
- 1:45:10Speaker 7: Almost.
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: That's super artsy.
- 1:45:12Speaker 7: Not quite.
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: For a Marvel movie, that's super artsy.
- 1:45:15Speaker 7: Yeah, just, well, it's mostly slow motion. But, I mean,
- 1:45:19Speaker 7: he does have some great shots and stuff. I can
- 1:45:21Speaker 7: see maybe.
- 1:45:22Speaker 8: I think he's too arrogant to try to want to.
- 1:45:25Speaker 4: Do a superhero movie.
- 1:45:26Speaker 7: Plus, he would want his one skinny girl to be
- 1:45:28Speaker 7: the lead in it.
- 1:45:29Speaker 4: Who did Direction Behind, Event Horizon?
- 1:45:33Speaker 9: Oh, man.
- 1:45:34Speaker 7: Who was, who did Direction Behind?
- 1:45:35Speaker 4: Oh, Event Horizon? Event Horizon, yeah.
- 1:45:37Speaker 8: I watched that again recently. I can't remember.
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: Don't know if I knew to begin with.
- 1:45:42Speaker 4: But, I mean, that could be something to, like, explore
- 1:45:45Speaker 4: too for i mean that's just that kind of horrifying.
- 1:45:49Speaker 7: Yeah if you do if you like i said that's
- 1:45:54Speaker 7: why i'm jumping.
- 1:45:54Speaker 4: In the hell dimensions yeah make it crazy it's.
- 1:45:57Speaker 7: Kind of a shame that you know like i said
- 1:45:58Speaker 7: they kind of cashed in on ghost riders so quick
- 1:46:00Speaker 7: because he'd be a great at least you know someone
- 1:46:03Speaker 7: to introduce the hell world stuff now that we've got
- 1:46:06Speaker 7: dr strange and magic like he would have been a
- 1:46:07Speaker 7: great theatrical way to be like hey look at this
- 1:46:10Speaker 7: fucking weird hell world.
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: Doug Bradley is not happy with what they're doing with
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: Hellraiser now, so we could probably get him on board
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: with just about any better option, and then we could
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: have Pinhead. You've got to get some licensing going on here,
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: but Clive's ready to cut that loose anyway, so I
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: think we could bring, you know, Hellraiser into the Hell
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: dimensions for a big super crossover here. This is what
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: we need.
- 1:46:32Speaker 7: Everything in the same universe.
- 1:46:34Speaker 5: All of it.
- 1:46:36Speaker 4: Didn't they try to do that with Cabin in the Woods?
- 1:46:39Speaker 7: That's pretty much what it is. They just did kind
- 1:46:41Speaker 7: of knockoff versions.
- 1:46:42Speaker 11: Of all those.
- 1:46:42Speaker 7: I remember like screenshotting, or not, like pausing a screen
- 1:46:45Speaker 7: and like, I know that there was definitely ETs. Wasn't
- 1:46:48Speaker 7: there Kremlins? Am I crazy? Like, I remember that one
- 1:46:50Speaker 7: shot that pants. Or are you thinking of the Senate
- 1:46:53Speaker 7: of Star Wars Phantom Menace?
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: Because there are ETs in there.
- 1:46:56Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 1:46:57Speaker 7: No, I remember that too. But I... Isn't it Cabin
- 1:46:59Speaker 7: in the Woods that has a bunch of... I thought
- 1:47:01Speaker 7: when it did that one big paint away that there's
- 1:47:03Speaker 7: a bunch of.
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: But they're kind of like knockoff. Like everybody's sort of
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: like a generic version of every... Because there is sort
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: of like a Pinhead and a Jason and a Freddy,
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: but they're all kind of like.
- 1:47:12Speaker 4: The generic ones. The greatest thing in Cabin in the
- 1:47:14Speaker 4: Woods is still that damn unicorn. Just that rampaging unicorn
- 1:47:18Speaker 4: just takes out that dude.
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: That's all you need. Crazy unicorn. That's what I wanted.
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: A unicorn in my Black Light Poster world. On that note,
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: I think we should wrap it up. If nothing else,
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: we've been coming to you from Gallery K. Thank you
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: to Gallery K for letting us come here and loiter
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: about and yammer on about Marvel. They are galleryk.net and
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: go see what they've got in the works and come
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: here and hang out like we do. You can talk
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: about Marvel if you want. I don't know if you'll
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: record it and turn it into this craziness, but you
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: can definitely loiter about and talk about marvel until will
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: kicks you out like he's gonna do with us in
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: a minute so all right anything else to pass along
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: to people before we get the hell out of.
- 1:48:03Speaker 4: Here what's what's next coming up star wars.
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: Star wars that's our next super.
- 1:48:10Speaker 14: Geeky property get to see case alias actually act this
- 1:48:12Speaker 14: time who is he in star wars he he's he's
- 1:48:16Speaker 14: the guy that invented the death star he's the engineer
- 1:48:19Speaker 14: of the Death Star.
- 1:48:21Speaker 7: From the trailer, he's the dude that seems to be
- 1:48:23Speaker 7: like that they keep coming after and kidnapping over and over.
- 1:48:26Speaker 7: It seems like he's the engineer.
- 1:48:28Speaker 4: I didn't put the two and two together. That's the
- 1:48:29Speaker 4: same guy.
- 1:48:31Speaker 7: Oh, it is though, right? Am I crazy?
- 1:48:32Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:48:33Speaker 7: It's the guy from.
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: Hannibal, right?
- 1:48:35Speaker 8: You're talking about Mads Mikkelsen?
- 1:48:36Speaker 7: Yeah, Mads Mikkelsen. Yeah, he's in Rogue. That's awesome. Yeah,
- 1:48:40Speaker 7: he's the father of the girl.
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: All of the casting seems pretty good so far. Again,
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: I've tried to not watch some of these new trailers.
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: I'm like, I just kind of want to see it now.
- 1:48:50Speaker 7: And the dork in me is so giddy to see
- 1:48:52Speaker 7: Donnie Yen in a Star Wars movie. I know that
- 1:48:54Speaker 7: means nothing, but to me, Donnie Yen being in a
- 1:48:57Speaker 7: Star Wars movie just makes me so happy. Even if
- 1:49:00Speaker 7: he is a cliche blind swordsman thing, it's like, whatever,
- 1:49:04Speaker 7: it's Donnie Yen.
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: So, coming soon to a podcast near you lots of
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: star wars talk otherwise that about does it we will
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: return next time same geek feed thanks for listening.
- 1:49:46Speaker 3: Soothe my head. Turn my blue heart to red.
- 1:49:57Speaker 7: Doctor, doctor, give me the news. I got a.
- 1:50:00Speaker 4: Bad case of loving you.
- 1:50:02Speaker 3: No pills gonna kill my ill. I got a Things
- 1:50:17Speaker 3: don't make no pretty heart I learned that, buddy, from
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: the start You think I'm cute.
- 1:50:31Speaker 9: A little bit shy.
- 1:50:35Speaker 3: Mama, I ain't that kind of guy.
- 1:50:43Speaker 9: Doctor, doctor, give me the news.
- 1:50:45Speaker 3: I got a bad case of love in you.
- 1:50:50Speaker 9: No pills gonna kill my head.
- 1:50:52Speaker 3: I got a bad case of love in you.
- 1:51:19Speaker 7: You like it on top.
- 1:51:23Speaker 3: Tell me, mama, are you gonna stop? You had me
- 1:51:37Speaker 3: down with 21 misses. Smile at you, kiss on your lips.
- 1:51:52Speaker 9: Doctor, doctor, give me.
- 1:52:05Speaker 3: The news I've got a bad case of.
- 1:52:08Speaker 9: Love in you No pill's gonna.
- 1:52:11Speaker 3: Kill me I've got a bad case of love.
- 1:52:16Speaker 6: In you.
- 1:52:26Speaker 4: Is it really sad that I went into Doctor Strange
- 1:52:29Speaker 4: looking for things to nitpick.
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: And found nothing?
- 1:52:33Speaker 4: I was actually kind of surprised. I couldn't find anything
- 1:52:37Speaker 4: to nitpick about.
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: Again, that was my take on it. That was almost
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: my problem with it. I kind of wanted more out
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: of it than that. It didn't even deliver nitpickiness. It
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: was just so meh.
- 1:52:50Speaker 4: I was more happy that I couldn't nitpick about it.
- 1:52:52Speaker 4: I was just like, I like it.
- 1:52:53Speaker 9: It's good. Nothing bad to say.
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: That was my bad to say. I wanted more from it.
- 1:52:59Speaker 4: Maybe more risks.
- 1:53:00Speaker 7: Yeah, it seems very.
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: What's the least amount of stuff we can do to
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: kind of hit all these points we need to hit
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: so we can get to that next Thor movie? That
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: kind of felt like part of it.
