- 0:00SPEAKER_00: If your stool test didn't cover these seven things, then you still don't have the full picture.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: So if you've done some testing, even with a functional medicine doctor, and you still feel terrible, here's what's missing.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: So let's start with whatever your regular doctor ran first, because most of you probably started there.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: You went in, they sent you for a stool test, and that test is just checking for a handful of things.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: C.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: diff, H.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: pylori, blood, mucus, maybe cow protectin, maybe a parasite if you're lucky.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: So when it comes back and they tell you everything's normal, of course it's normal.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: They hardly looked for anything.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: A lot of you already figured this part out on your own, and that's exactly why you went and you found someone who does functional medicine.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: You did the right thing, that's a smart thing to do.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: So let's talk about what that actually got you and where even that falls short sometimes.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: Here's the thing functional medicine, stool testing is the wild west right now.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: There are dozens of labs.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: Every practitioner swears by a different one, but not all labs are the same.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: So if you went and you got one of these advanced tests done, your instinct was right, more testing was the right move.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Now the question is if the test you had done actually tells you everything you really need to know.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: So let me walk you through what a real comprehensive test needs to be looking at for IBS and chronic diarrhea and what's actually happening in your gut when one of these things gets skipped.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Short chain fatty acids.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Think of these like fertilizer for the wall of your gut.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: If that wall isn't getting fed, it stays thin, it stays irritated.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: And that's a huge reason why the diarrhea and urgency just keep cycling, even after you've already cleared out stuff that was bothering you.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: The lining never actually got what it needed to heal.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: A lot of these tests either skip this entirely or they give you half a number instead of the full breakdown of which ones you're actually low in and what kind of fatty acid imbalances you have in there.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: A real breakdown of your beneficial bacteria, not just, yep, you've got some good bacteria in there, moving on.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: That's like checking if a security team showed up to work without checking how many guards there are or where they're even standing.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: When the specific protective strains are missing, you lose the bacteria that calm inflammation down.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: You lose the bacteria that helps your bowel movements actually form properly.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: So you could take every supplement on the shelf, and if nobody ever identified which strains you're missing, you're not rebuilding the part that's actually broken.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: The third one is the full range of bad bacteria.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Some of these tests are basically checking your house for trouble, but they're only checking the front door.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: If the test is only screening for a short list of bacteria and what's actually going on in you isn't on that list, then you get a clean result.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Your doctor tells you everything looks fine, and the actual problem never even got tested for.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: The fourth one is gut pH.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: This sets the whole environment for everything else living down there.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: You could drop in the best, most expensive probiotic on the market.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: And if the pH is off, it's not gonna survive.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Same thing as fish dying in a tank set to the wrong temperature.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: And this is actually a big reason some of you got handed the right supplement and it did absolutely nothing.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: The supplement wasn't the problem.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: The environment that it landed in wouldn't let it work.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: Digestive enzyme levels.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Can your body actually break down what you're eating?
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: If your enzymes are low, food just sits there, undigested, longer than it should.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: And that feeds the wrong kind of bacteria.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: It adds to the bloating, the cramping, on top of whatever else is already going on in there.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: The actual condition of your gut lining is important.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: Most tests look at what's living in your gut.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: Way fewer are looking at the wall itself.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: And that's the difference between checking what's growing in the soil and actually checking the soil.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: A damaged lining is a huge reason that particles and toxins that should stay contained end up leaking somewhere that they shouldn't.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: That's where a lot of your inflammation keeps coming from, even after you think you cleared all of the bad stuff out.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: The seventh one here is whether your gut is actually getting rid of toxins or is it just recirculating them?
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: There's a marker for this.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: When it's high, your gut is basically acting like a garbage truck that picks up your trash and then drives it right back around and dumps it back in your driveway.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: If nobody ever measured this, you could do everything else exactly right and you still feel stuck because your body keeps reabsorbing the exact stuff you were trying so hard to get rid of.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: So that's seven.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: And here's the part that's honestly a little frustrating.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: Most advanced tests, even good ones from a real functional medicine practitioner, are only hitting two or three of these seven things.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Let me tell you about a woman that I worked with, 60 years old, urgent diarrhea, no matter what she ate for years.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: She'd already done the GI doctors, she had already gone and seen a naturopath, she tried low FODMAP, none of it was helping.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: Her low point was when she missed an entire family wedding because she was stuck in the bathroom the whole time.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: The ceremony, the reception, all of it.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: And everyone there knew exactly where she was.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: The testing that she had done with her naturopath was definitely more advanced than what any GI doctor would offer, but it still didn't give the whole bacteria picture.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: And it wasn't testing her toxin burden that I like to look at.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: We did testing that dug even deeper, showed me the data I needed, found an overgrowth of Aromonas bacteria, which didn't show up on her other test.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: And we also found a really high level of beta-glucaronidase that hadn't been tested for prior.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: Today, she has normal formed bowel movements.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: It doesn't run her life anymore because we got the right data.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: Quick pause here.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: If this is making sense so far, do me a favor and hit like.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: That's how YouTube knows to put this in front of more women dealing with the same thing.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: And if you haven't subscribed yet, go ahead and do that now so you don't miss what's coming.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Okay, let's keep going because there's one final piece that brings all of this together.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: The data isn't actually the whole story.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: Let's say, best case scenario, your test actually did cover all seven of these things.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: You got the good data.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: That still isn't the finish line.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: Because good data only matters if the person holding it actually knows what to do with it.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: And look, there are practitioners out there who know they can order the test.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: They know enough to hand you the report and point at a few different things on the test.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: But actually being a gut specialist and treating this day after day, client after client, that's a completely different skill than just ordering a test.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: And I see this one constantly.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: Women bring me results from someone else they worked with, and I'm looking at it thinking this well-meaning practitioner genuinely has no idea what they're looking at.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: Sometimes a gut is so inflamed, so angry that you have to calm it down first with something like butyrate or anti-inflammatory fatty acids before you can touch anything else at all.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: And sometimes it's the complete opposite.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: Sometimes you have to start clearing out what's causing all of that inflammation in there before any interventions or any amount of calming is gonna do a single thing.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: You get that order backwards and you can genuinely make someone feel worse instead of better.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: So if you've already done the testing and you even found someone who ordered a decent one and you're still not better, this might be exactly why.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: Good data in the hands of someone who doesn't specialize in this isn't enough.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: I have a client, Sheila, who did a lot prior to coming to me.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: She had seen a naturopath, functional medicine doctor, done multiple comprehensive stool tests like the GI MAP test.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: She was given protocols to clear what they found, but she didn't get any better.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: I think the naturopath and the functional medicine doctor's intentions were good, but they don't specialize in fixing the gut.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: They were more general health and wellness practitioners, and that matters.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: It took me years of study in just the gut, the microbiome, toxins, enzymes, digestive function, inflammation to really understand what the body needs, what aggravates it, what heals it.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: General studies with a couple extra courses here and there just doesn't cut it.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: And I see a lot of women like Sheila who still didn't get better.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: And it turns out it's because the data was there, but the knowledge and the right strategy wasn't.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: In Sheila's case, she was given a protocol to get rid of candida and some harmful bacteria, but nothing was done to address her fatty acid imbalance or her missing keystone bacteria.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: So the protocol didn't work.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: So here's what I actually want you to walk away with.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: If you've already done testing, basic or advanced, and you're still stuck, ask yourself two separate questions.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: Did the test actually look at everything that it needed to look at?
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: And did the person reading it actually know what they were looking at?
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: Both of those things have to be true, not just one of them.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: So if you watched this whole thing and you're realizing your test missed most of what we covered, or you're not even sure what your test actually looked at, you don't have to go figure that out alone.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: There's a link below to book a call with my team.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: We'll go through your situation and we'll tell you exactly where you stand.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: And if you've tried supplements and it just made you worse, be sure to watch this video next.
