Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Hey, discos, need a little more Disgraceland in your life,
- 0:05Speaker 1: just to touch to get you through. Yeah, me too.
- 0:08Speaker 1: This is the podcast that comes after the podcast. Welcome
- 0:12Speaker 1: to Disgraceland, the after Party. Welcome to the Disgraceland bonus episode,
- 0:32Speaker 1: a little thing we like to call the after party.
- 0:34Speaker 1: This is the show after the show, the party after
- 0:36Speaker 1: the party, the bridge to get you from one full
- 0:38Speaker 1: episode or Disgraceland to the other, the backyard to dig
- 0:42Speaker 1: into the dirt. On this bonus episode, we are talking
- 0:45Speaker 1: about the recent allegations against jay Z. Bit of conversation
- 0:49Speaker 1: on this week's full episode about Sean McGowan of the Pogues,
- 0:52Speaker 1: and we hear from you on your favorite Christmas songs,
- 0:55Speaker 1: and of course we are diving into your voicemails, text
- 0:57Speaker 1: and more, and as always, a whole lot of rosie.
- 1:00Speaker 1: All right, discoes, let's get into it all right. This
- 1:18Speaker 1: past Sunday, jay Z was accused of raping a thirteen
- 1:22Speaker 1: year old girl alongside his buddy fellow billionaire hip hop
- 1:25Speaker 1: mogul Sean Diddy Combs. I detailed this Comb's allegation a
- 1:29Speaker 1: couple of weeks ago here in the after Party. Quick refresh.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Though it's the year two thousand. MTV Video Music Awards
- 1:36Speaker 1: are happening in Manhattan. Did He throws an after party.
- 1:38Speaker 1: A young girl is invited off the street via one
- 1:41Speaker 1: of Diddy's chauffeurs. The girl attends the party, she's drugged.
- 1:45Speaker 1: She passes out in one of the bedrooms. Sean Combs
- 1:48Speaker 1: enters sees that the drug has taken effect on the
- 1:51Speaker 1: young girl. The plaintiff, who was groggy at the time
- 1:54Speaker 1: from the drug, was not completely passed out, and according
- 1:57Speaker 1: to her, remember jay Z entering the room with Shawn Combs,
- 2:03Speaker 1: a maniacal looking Shawn Combs by the way, who looks
- 2:06Speaker 1: through to the eye and says, you are ready to party?
- 2:11Speaker 1: Who now? The accuser then claims that Combs violently threw
- 2:17Speaker 1: her against the wall and alleges that that's when jay
- 2:22Speaker 1: Z ripped off her clothes, held her down, and raped
- 2:24Speaker 1: her while yet another celebrity, a female, a female celebrity,
- 2:30Speaker 1: watched this all happen and when the quote unquote God
- 2:33Speaker 1: Empsey gross, I hate that, I hate that nickname finished
- 2:38Speaker 1: at that point, when jay Z was done, Sean Combs
- 2:41Speaker 1: then raped this thirteen year old as well, and Jay
- 2:45Speaker 1: Z allegedly watched with the female celebrity watching as well. Now,
- 2:53Speaker 1: it has to be said that these are just allegations.
- 2:56Speaker 1: It has to be said that Sean Diddy Combs has
- 2:59Speaker 1: adamantly this specific allegation and all allegations of abuse against him.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Now it also needs to be said that Jay Z
- 3:09Speaker 1: has also denied this accusation, saying this past Sunday, when
- 3:14Speaker 1: news of the lawsuit broke the following and I'm going
- 3:16Speaker 1: to read you jay Z's entire response to these charges
- 3:20Speaker 1: because it's important. The guy's not guilty yet. Okay, No
- 3:24Speaker 1: matter what you think guilt by association, you like the guy,
- 3:27Speaker 1: you don't like the guy, He's still innocent until proven guilty.
- 3:31Speaker 1: And this is what he is saying in response to
- 3:34Speaker 1: the allegations against him. Quote. My lawyer received a blackmail
- 3:38Speaker 1: attempt called a demand letter from a quote unquote lawyer
- 3:42Speaker 1: named Tony Busby. What he had calculated was the nature
- 3:46Speaker 1: of these allegations in public scrutiny would make me want
- 3:49Speaker 1: to settle. You have to excuse the poor writing here
- 3:52Speaker 1: and bad grammar and usage. This I'm reading of verbatim.
- 3:56Speaker 1: The quotes go on to say, no, sir, it had
- 3:58Speaker 1: the opposite effect. You want to expose you for the
- 4:01Speaker 1: fraud you are in a all caps, very public fashion,
- 4:06Speaker 1: So no, I will not give you all caps one
- 4:09Speaker 1: red penny. These allegations are so heinous in nature that
- 4:13Speaker 1: I employ you to file a criminal complaint, not a
- 4:16Speaker 1: civil one two exclamation points. Whomever would commit such a
- 4:19Speaker 1: crime against a minor should be locked away? Would you
- 4:22Speaker 1: not agree these alleged victims would deserve real justice if
- 4:26Speaker 1: that were the case. This lawyer, who I have done
- 4:29Speaker 1: a bit of research on, seems to have a pattern
- 4:31Speaker 1: of these type of theatrics. I have no idea how
- 4:35Speaker 1: you have come to be such a deplorable human, mister Busby,
- 4:38Speaker 1: but I promise you I have seen your kind many
- 4:40Speaker 1: times over. I'm more than prepared to deal with your type.
- 4:43Speaker 1: You claim to be a marine. Marines are known for
- 4:46Speaker 1: their valor. You have neither honor nor dignity. My only
- 4:49Speaker 1: heartbreak is for my family. My wife and I will
- 4:52Speaker 1: have to sit our children down, one of whom is
- 4:53Speaker 1: at the age when her friends will surely see the
- 4:56Speaker 1: press and ask questions about the nature of these claims
- 4:58Speaker 1: and explain the cruelty and greed people I mourn yet
- 5:02Speaker 1: another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure
- 5:05Speaker 1: such at their young age. It is unfair to have
- 5:09Speaker 1: to try to understand inexplicable degrees of malice meant to
- 5:12Speaker 1: destroy families and human spirit. My heart and support goes
- 5:16Speaker 1: out to true victims in the world who have to
- 5:18Speaker 1: watch how their life story is dressed in costume for
- 5:21Speaker 1: profitability by this ambulance chaser in a cheap suit. You
- 5:26Speaker 1: have made a terrible error in judgment thinking that all
- 5:29Speaker 1: celebrities are the same. I'm not from your world. I'm
- 5:32Speaker 1: a young man who made it out of the projects
- 5:34Speaker 1: of Brooklyn. We don't play these types of games. We
- 5:37Speaker 1: have very strict codes and honor. We protect children. You
- 5:41Speaker 1: seem to exploit people for personal gain. Only your network
- 5:45Speaker 1: of conspiracy theorists fake physics. That's right, fake physics will
- 5:50Speaker 1: believe the idiotic claims you have levied against me. If
- 5:54Speaker 1: not for this seriousness, surrounding harm to kids would be laughable.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I look forward to showing you just how different I
- 6:01Speaker 1: am unquote. I have so many thoughts, guys. First of all,
- 6:05Speaker 1: what the fuck was that? Okay? I get that he's
- 6:09Speaker 1: he's saying he didn't do it. I get that he's
- 6:12Speaker 1: going after Tony Busby personally, and he should. This is
- 6:15Speaker 1: a very personal issue. But he knew this was coming,
- 6:21Speaker 1: and he seems to have had this statement prepared based
- 6:25Speaker 1: on how quickly it came out on Sunday. But dude,
- 6:30Speaker 1: let me tell you about this thing called grammarly dot com.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Run this thing through a copy of it. Matt Boden
- 6:38Speaker 1: right now is fucking dying inside having to let this
- 6:42Speaker 1: grammar and usage go forth in a disgrace land episode.
- 6:48Speaker 1: But a couple of serious things here. He does say
- 6:52Speaker 1: fake physics, by the way, I think he meant to
- 6:54Speaker 1: say fake psychics. And I just I got a comment
- 6:59Speaker 1: Jaz calls a young man. He's fifty four, God love him.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Jay Z is a master of the media. He is
- 7:05Speaker 1: a ruthless businessman. So when you hear this, take all
- 7:09Speaker 1: of that into account and I'm not going to pass judgment,
- 7:12Speaker 1: but I'm just giving you the information, all right, Okay,
- 7:15Speaker 1: So that's where we're at with this story. Sort of.
- 7:18Speaker 1: More news has broken since the allegations in since jay
- 7:21Speaker 1: Z's response, But I want to hit on a couple
- 7:23Speaker 1: things relevant to what we just spoke of. Here, Okay,
- 7:26Speaker 1: jay Z is accusing the attorney Tony Busby who filed
- 7:30Speaker 1: this lawsuit of extortion. Buzzby has issued a statement denying
- 7:36Speaker 1: that he is extorting jay Z and claiming that he
- 7:39Speaker 1: simply said a demand what's called demand to jay Z
- 7:43Speaker 1: on behalf of his client seeking mediation. In other words,
- 7:48Speaker 1: Buzzby is saying, no, jay Z, I didn't extort you.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I'm not trying to blackmail you. I simply I'm not
- 7:53Speaker 1: even looking for money. My client wasn't even looking for money.
- 7:55Speaker 1: We just wanted to get you to come to the
- 7:58Speaker 1: table with a mediator to discuss these allegations and to
- 8:02Speaker 1: come to some sort of settlement, right Buzzby, He's the
- 8:08Speaker 1: issue a formal statement. Like I said, I'm not going
- 8:12Speaker 1: to read it to you. Buzzby's statement here that I
- 8:15Speaker 1: just depicted it's true, but it's also disingenuous. I've read
- 8:20Speaker 1: the demand, and at the risk of turning this into
- 8:22Speaker 1: a legal podcast, which I don't want to do, I'm
- 8:23Speaker 1: not going to read it to you in full like
- 8:24Speaker 1: I just did jay Z's response, but I can tell
- 8:27Speaker 1: you that the demand from Busby is kind of extortiony.
- 8:31Speaker 1: It basically gives jay Z, like I said, the right
- 8:33Speaker 1: to come to the table to negotiate this matter out
- 8:35Speaker 1: of court. It's not black and white. It's very carefully
- 8:38Speaker 1: worded and it's also kind of clever. Now, does that
- 8:43Speaker 1: mean jay Z is innocent? No, doesn't mean he's guilty either.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Does that mean that Tony Busby is crooked? No, And
- 8:52Speaker 1: it doesn't mean that he's on the level either. It
- 8:54Speaker 1: means he's a lawyer, he has a client, he's trying
- 8:57Speaker 1: to do right buyer, and I'm sure that's settling this
- 9:01Speaker 1: out of court for millions of dollars rather than going
- 9:04Speaker 1: through a million dollar trial that will undoubtedly result in
- 9:08Speaker 1: this claimant's identity coming out in her life getting turned
- 9:11Speaker 1: upside down. That's more preferable to Tony Busby professionally. Now,
- 9:17Speaker 1: it should be noted that jay Z has countersued Tony Busby. However,
- 9:22Speaker 1: it should also be noted that Tony Busby is welcoming
- 9:25Speaker 1: the fight, and it seems he's also got the goods
- 9:29Speaker 1: on jay Z's attorneys, who he claims have been harassing
- 9:33Speaker 1: local Texans who are familiar with Buzzby and his firm.
- 9:36Speaker 1: It's attempting to pay them one thousand dollars a pop
- 9:39Speaker 1: minimum to go on record to talk shit about Tony Busby,
- 9:42Speaker 1: to create a narrative here about Tony Busby being a
- 9:44Speaker 1: bad guy, being a liar, being full of it, being
- 9:47Speaker 1: an unscrupulous, dishonest attorney. I want to point out though,
- 9:51Speaker 1: that the sourcing on this piece of the story, the
- 9:54Speaker 1: sourcing that I've seen on this particular claim about Tony
- 9:57Speaker 1: Busby where he's saying that he's got j Attorneys representatives
- 10:02Speaker 1: on tape trying to essentially bribe people who know him
- 10:07Speaker 1: to come out and speak against him. I gotta say,
- 10:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna say it right here. In the numerous instances
- 10:13Speaker 1: on the Internet where I've seen this story pop up,
- 10:16Speaker 1: the sourcing is light. It is thin. But but just
- 10:21Speaker 1: because it's weak, it doesn't mean it's not true. Okay,
- 10:25Speaker 1: we as we've already seen here, there's been numerous moments
- 10:27Speaker 1: when elements of this ditty story have popped up where
- 10:30Speaker 1: we're weak weekly uh should I say thin? Thinly sourced
- 10:36Speaker 1: information ended up proving to be true. But we've seen
- 10:38Speaker 1: the opposite as well. Case in point that that Jamie
- 10:41Speaker 1: Foxx Netflix thing hit last night and what people on
- 10:46Speaker 1: the Internet thought was coming about Diddy did not come okay,
- 10:49Speaker 1: So big fat disclaimer on this piece of the story
- 10:52Speaker 1: that allegedly has Jay's lawyers attempting bribery against Tony Busby,
- 10:55Speaker 1: that said, Buzzby has not given an inch in jay Z. He,
- 11:00Speaker 1: unlike Sean Combs, is opting for a scorched earth response
- 11:04Speaker 1: to Busby's client's allegations. Now, Busby isn't an idiot. He
- 11:09Speaker 1: had to have known that jay Z's response was a
- 11:11Speaker 1: pall possibility. And if he was gonna go down this
- 11:15Speaker 1: road against a multi billionaire, one of those powerful men
- 11:18Speaker 1: in entertainment, he's got to have evidence to prove out
- 11:21Speaker 1: his client's case. Otherwise, well, I don't know. Otherwise it's
- 11:24Speaker 1: a shocking act of hubris and just stupidity. So what
- 11:27Speaker 1: could the proof be? DNA? Perhaps maybe seems like a stretch.
- 11:31Speaker 1: This happened twenty four years ago. Video footage always a possibility,
- 11:36Speaker 1: but the year two thousand was a much different time
- 11:39Speaker 1: than twenty twenty four, and it just seems too easy
- 11:42Speaker 1: that there would be video footage of this incident. A
- 11:46Speaker 1: corroborating eye witness, someone at the party testifies that they
- 11:50Speaker 1: saw these individuals all go into the room together. I
- 11:54Speaker 1: guess that's possible. What about testimony from the third person
- 11:59Speaker 1: in the room, the unnamed quote unquote female celebrity. What
- 12:03Speaker 1: if that female celebrity is not just a no name,
- 12:05Speaker 1: but a person who has credibility with us, credibility with
- 12:08Speaker 1: the public, A person who she came out, sat down
- 12:11Speaker 1: in front of a camera on a big budget, trusted,
- 12:14Speaker 1: legacy media news program and laid all the cards on
- 12:18Speaker 1: the table, and you know, had a story that went
- 12:21Speaker 1: something like, you know, I was young, I was, I
- 12:23Speaker 1: was drugged myself. Perhaps I was drunk, I was, I
- 12:27Speaker 1: was easily impressed upon. I didn't know what was happening
- 12:30Speaker 1: at that time. I was an attic. I'm now clean,
- 12:32Speaker 1: I've found God all this stuff and yes, I'm I'm
- 12:35Speaker 1: okay now. But jay Z Sean Combs, you know, I
- 12:41Speaker 1: don't know. Maybe, I mean, that could be very compelling
- 12:44Speaker 1: for the American public, could be very compelling for a judge,
- 12:47Speaker 1: for a jury. Okay, that could be interesting. But I doubt, however,
- 12:53Speaker 1: that that person, that celebrity, that female, that a list celebrity,
- 12:57Speaker 1: would be collaborating with Tony Busby in a civil case
- 13:01Speaker 1: as opposed to collaborating with authorities in a criminal case,
- 13:04Speaker 1: because what's the leverage. I suppose the leverages Tony buzz
- 13:09Speaker 1: people will make her name public, But I don't know.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I mean maybe that's powerful enough. You know, in a
- 13:14Speaker 1: civil case, which this is, this case has nothing to
- 13:18Speaker 1: do with law enforcement. In a civil case, the burden
- 13:22Speaker 1: of proof is much lower because the judgment is just
- 13:25Speaker 1: financial damages. It's not jail time. But what can happen
- 13:28Speaker 1: in a civil case, and I believe what has already
- 13:30Speaker 1: happened as it pertains to the Shawn Combs legal drama,
- 13:34Speaker 1: is a civil case can become so damning and can
- 13:38Speaker 1: have so much evidence attached to it that that civil
- 13:42Speaker 1: case can compel a criminal prosecutor to bring charges. Remember
- 13:46Speaker 1: Cassi Ventura's lawsuit that Shawn Combs settled out of court
- 13:49Speaker 1: for thirty million dollars. That was a civil case, and
- 13:52Speaker 1: that civil case and that settlement inspired numerous other civil
- 13:55Speaker 1: cases to quickly be filed against Shawan Combs, including the
- 13:58Speaker 1: one from Rodney Little, Rodge Jones. Those civil cases, more specifically,
- 14:04Speaker 1: the evidence within those civil lawsuits I believe inspired federal
- 14:08Speaker 1: prosecutors to raid Sean Combs's house and ultimately to indict
- 14:12Speaker 1: him under federal law. If you read the Cassi Ventura indictment,
- 14:15Speaker 1: and you read the little Rod Jones indictment which I have,
- 14:18Speaker 1: and then read the federal indictment which I also have,
- 14:20Speaker 1: you quickly see that they're all part of the same piece.
- 14:24Speaker 1: The charges and the details and the federal criminal complaint
- 14:27Speaker 1: are so similar to the Ventura in Jones's civil lawsuits
- 14:30Speaker 1: that it would not surprise me at all to learn
- 14:33Speaker 1: the Cassie Ventura and Lulerod Jones are cooperating with Fed's
- 14:37Speaker 1: against Diddy. So what does this mean? If I know this,
- 14:41Speaker 1: then jay Z's lawyers definitely know this, and that means
- 14:45Speaker 1: that the smart play for jay Z is to go
- 14:48Speaker 1: full gladiator retaliation to Tony Busby. Regardless of whether he's
- 14:52Speaker 1: guilty or not, he has two and a half billion dollars.
- 14:55Speaker 1: He can take his chance as fighting this thing. In
- 14:57Speaker 1: the process, the benefit that risk is he's sending a
- 15:02Speaker 1: message to future claimants that don't fuck with me. I'm
- 15:05Speaker 1: jay Z, the God MC. I will rain down upon
- 15:08Speaker 1: thee with furious vengeance in the form of an army
- 15:10Speaker 1: of lawyers. And this contains the issue for jay Z,
- 15:14Speaker 1: and it keeps it from sprawling into the mess the
- 15:18Speaker 1: Diddy has created for himself by by settling with Cassie Ventura.
- 15:23Speaker 1: That's what kicked it all off for Sean Combs. What
- 15:26Speaker 1: blows all of this up. Like I said, if Buzzby
- 15:30Speaker 1: has proof that comes out in court, if Buzzby has
- 15:35Speaker 1: other victims of jay Z's or just other victims in
- 15:38Speaker 1: general of jay Z's or witnesses come out they go public,
- 15:43Speaker 1: or if they go directly to the Feds. If more
- 15:45Speaker 1: information gets out there, despite jay Z's scorched Earth gladiator
- 15:50Speaker 1: legal response, and once again the Feds are put into
- 15:53Speaker 1: a box. And if that info gets out there, the
- 15:56Speaker 1: FEDS are going to be compelled to bring a case
- 15:58Speaker 1: against jay Z, just as they have against Sean Combs.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Now I'm not saying that's going to happen, but what
- 16:05Speaker 1: I am saying is that jay Z's legal team they
- 16:09Speaker 1: know every which road this thing can spiral down, and
- 16:14Speaker 1: they are playing against those possibilities. And that is very
- 16:18Speaker 1: much part of jay Z's response, whether or not he
- 16:21Speaker 1: is actually innocent or actually guilty, regardless of what happens
- 16:26Speaker 1: this story, the jay Z part of the story is
- 16:31Speaker 1: far from over. He's not backing down, and neither is
- 16:33Speaker 1: Tony Busby. That is a lot. It's a lot of information, guys.
- 16:39Speaker 1: It's only been what four or five days since this
- 16:43Speaker 1: news broke. We're gonna get a lot more of it,
- 16:46Speaker 1: and I'll I'll have a little bit more of this
- 16:49Speaker 1: in the all access portion of this episode on jay Z,
- 16:53Speaker 1: we can get to I gotta say this. I released
- 16:55Speaker 1: the jay Z episode back in twenty twenty, and man,
- 16:58Speaker 1: oh man, has mine opinion of this guy changed. Since
- 17:03Speaker 1: I'm not saying that jay Z is guilty, I legitimately
- 17:06Speaker 1: do not know. If I'm betting, I'd say the odds
- 17:09Speaker 1: are even. That's not good. My gut, in other words,
- 17:13Speaker 1: tells me that there's a fifty percent chance that jay
- 17:15Speaker 1: Z is a bad dude. And I can in the
- 17:19Speaker 1: all access portion of so I'm gonna talk a little
- 17:21Speaker 1: bit more about what I mean by that. It's my gut,
- 17:24Speaker 1: all right, it's you know, you know, all qualifiers go
- 17:27Speaker 1: with that. If I thought this back in twenty twenty,
- 17:30Speaker 1: then that jay Z episode would have come out much differently.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Back then, I was kind of an awe of jay
- 17:36Speaker 1: Z is not only an artist, but as an entrepreneur.
- 17:38Speaker 1: I gotta say this too. I fucking love jay Z's music.
- 17:40Speaker 1: I love it all right. I think he's a genius.
- 17:43Speaker 1: I really truly do. And in that episode I make
- 17:46Speaker 1: the case that he's kind of a modern day Sinatra,
- 17:49Speaker 1: But man, I don't know it's different now. Anyways, that episode,
- 17:54Speaker 1: it's available for you in the archive. You can check
- 17:56Speaker 1: it out if you want to get a bit more
- 17:57Speaker 1: backstory on jay Z, even if you've alread heard, if
- 18:00Speaker 1: you want to revisit it. The nightclub stabbing, how he
- 18:03Speaker 1: handled that. It's similar, big, big, super high profile criminality.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Not a criminal case, I almost say criminal case, but
- 18:11Speaker 1: still high profile, front page of all the tabloids. Coincidentally,
- 18:17Speaker 1: at the exact same time, at the exact same time
- 18:21Speaker 1: the news of the nightclub stabbing with jay Z broke
- 18:25Speaker 1: back in the late nineties, Sean Combs was on trial
- 18:29Speaker 1: for a nightclub shooting. Interesting, huh, these guys are close.
- 18:34Speaker 1: More on that. Like I said in the all access
- 18:36Speaker 1: portion of this But anyways, if you want a little
- 18:38Speaker 1: more on jay Z's backstory, you want to have it
- 18:39Speaker 1: in mind while all this current news is filling your feeds,
- 18:43Speaker 1: check out the jay Z episode Disgraceful. All right, Speaking
- 18:46Speaker 1: of rewind episodes, it's Christmas time and that means we
- 18:49Speaker 1: have our Mariah carry episode coming your way right after
- 18:52Speaker 1: this one. Mariah and her bags of money that she
- 18:56Speaker 1: makes every year from her annual chart top one thing
- 19:00Speaker 1: All I Want for Christmas Is You song that is
- 19:02Speaker 1: currently number one of the Billboard Hot one hundred, as
- 19:04Speaker 1: it usually is at least for a couple of weeks
- 19:06Speaker 1: every year. Come this time anyway, check out the dark
- 19:09Speaker 1: story of the Christmas Miracle that keeps on giving, Mariah
- 19:12Speaker 1: Carey and her Banana's relationship with her wackado husband music
- 19:17Speaker 1: mogul Tommy Mottola. That's coming up in this week's rewind episode,
- 19:20Speaker 1: which will be next in your feed after this episode
- 19:22Speaker 1: that you're listening to right now. As always, if you're
- 19:25Speaker 1: listening to this bonus episode sometime in the future and
- 19:27Speaker 1: you can't find the Mariah Carey rewind episode, well that
- 19:30Speaker 1: just means that it's shifted back into its rightful place
- 19:32Speaker 1: in the archive. You can search your player, you can
- 19:34Speaker 1: search the web for Disgraceland and Mariah Carey, or you
- 19:37Speaker 1: can just go to our website Disgrace lampod dot Com.
- 19:40Speaker 1: All right next week on Tuesday, one of my favorite
- 19:43Speaker 1: episodes that we have created to date. I feel like
- 19:45Speaker 1: I say that every week. You know that means means
- 19:47Speaker 1: I love my job, means I'm psyched, I'm creatively plugged in.
- 19:51Speaker 1: I love this. I haven't heard the mix yet, Matt
- 19:53Speaker 1: Matt's mix in it, I think as we speak, but
- 19:55Speaker 1: I've written it and I'm pretty pumped on it. And
- 19:57Speaker 1: if you like rock and roll, miss this is for you.
- 19:59Speaker 1: It's on Elvis pres and Johnny Ace. Okay, if you
- 20:01Speaker 1: like rock and roll myths, if you like conspiracy, if
- 20:04Speaker 1: you like gangster stories, this story is for you. And
- 20:09Speaker 1: it also bonus takes place at Christmas, so I cannot
- 20:12Speaker 1: wait for you to hear it. And when you're listening,
- 20:14Speaker 1: be thinking about the rock and roll myths. Okay, which
- 20:18Speaker 1: ones are your favorites, Which ones are the most unbelievable?
- 20:21Speaker 1: Which ones are you aware of are not true and
- 20:24Speaker 1: have been busted? Let me know, Rod Stewart in the Stomach,
- 20:27Speaker 1: Pump Mama Cass and the ham Sandwich, Michael Hutchinson, the
- 20:30Speaker 1: you know, hit me up, Hit me up, whatever myth
- 20:33Speaker 1: you think of related to music, because I want to
- 20:35Speaker 1: dive into them in next week's after party with you
- 20:37Speaker 1: right here in this space. All right, I'm gonna take
- 20:39Speaker 1: a quick break. I'll be back on the other side
- 20:40Speaker 1: with your voicemails, texts and dms. All right, guys, we're back.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Can you hear that. I don't think you can hear that.
- 21:03Speaker 1: I don't think you can hear that. I record these
- 21:04Speaker 1: after party episodes differently than I record the full episodes,
- 21:08Speaker 1: because it's a different type of thing. I do them
- 21:10Speaker 1: from my desk. I do them in the studio that
- 21:12Speaker 1: I'm currently building, though construction has ceased, it's about to
- 21:17Speaker 1: pick up again in January. But outside right now, they
- 21:20Speaker 1: are building my neighborhood as we speak, and there's some trucks,
- 21:25Speaker 1: and I apologize if you're getting any of that noise.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Matt has found some handy AI device that can clean
- 21:32Speaker 1: up the sounds around my microphone. I'm doing a very
- 21:37Speaker 1: poor job of explaining that, but we should be good
- 21:40Speaker 1: to go. But these trucks are frickin' loud. I'm trying to,
- 21:43Speaker 1: you know, stop and start record to make sure that
- 21:47Speaker 1: you're not hearing the noise. If you do get some
- 21:48Speaker 1: of that there. It is hear that, he hear that,
- 21:52Speaker 1: that little sneaky fucker perfect timing. If you hear any
- 21:54Speaker 1: of that, I apologize, but we're doing our best to
- 21:57Speaker 1: clean it up and keep it out. Yeah, we're back.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Like I said, before we get to your calls, before
- 22:03Speaker 1: we get to your texts, before we get to your dms,
- 22:06Speaker 1: I have a question for you. Did you know Shada
- 22:10Speaker 1: isn't sha DA's name. I mean it is, but it isn't.
- 22:13Speaker 1: It's actually the name of her band, Shade, the singer
- 22:17Speaker 1: we've been calling Shade. Her name is Helen, Yes, Helen,
- 22:22Speaker 1: Helen has been singing smooth operator to you all these years,
- 22:26Speaker 1: and not the super sexy Shadah. Shada again is the
- 22:30Speaker 1: name of the band, but it's also part of Shade's name, Helen,
- 22:34Speaker 1: full of Shaday.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I do.
- 22:36Speaker 1: I didn't know that, Now I do, and now you
- 22:38Speaker 1: do too, or maybe you already knew it. I just
- 22:41Speaker 1: thought it was interesting, thought it was worth sharing. Speaking
- 22:43Speaker 1: of sharing, Ben from the eight to oh three called
- 22:46Speaker 1: in to share the following.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Jake, this is Ben from the eight oh three man.
- 22:50Speaker 3: I discovered a disgrace last few months. Back went back,
- 22:55Speaker 3: started episode one and dug my way through the entire
- 22:57Speaker 3: catalog till I am current. Just wanted to way in
- 23:00Speaker 3: on this week's question, Sir, The greatest Christmas song ever written,
- 23:05Speaker 3: hands down Barnan's Merry Christmas from the Family from one
- 23:09Speaker 3: mister Robert Earl Keane. It's everything that's cool about our
- 23:14Speaker 3: law country, red dirt country, whatever you want to call it, Americana.
- 23:19Speaker 3: I said it's it's bold, and it's offensive in parts,
- 23:23Speaker 3: but it's only offensive because it hits so close to
- 23:25Speaker 3: home for so many others. I guaranteed check it out.
- 23:29Speaker 3: It will be on your playlist. Keep doing what you're doing, brother,
- 23:32Speaker 3: You're amazing. Love your work, Ben.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Thank you for joining us. Robert Earl Keene, I have
- 23:38Speaker 1: never heard this song, but I am intrigued now. I
- 23:40Speaker 1: want to thank you for the message. Appreciate appreciate the
- 23:44Speaker 1: new listening as well, and the call six one seven
- 23:46Speaker 1: nine or six sixty six three eight if you guys
- 23:48Speaker 1: want to connect with us like Ben. Ben's call on
- 23:53Speaker 1: fear Christmas song is a response to the question we
- 23:55Speaker 1: asked in last week. The end of last week Shane
- 23:57Speaker 1: McGowan episode Seane McGown of course, wrote one of, if
- 24:01Speaker 1: not my absolute favorite Christmas song, fairy Tale of New York,
- 24:05Speaker 1: and the episode is largely about that. It's also a
- 24:08Speaker 1: little bit about Chain's background. I hope you guys get
- 24:11Speaker 1: a chance to check it out if you have not already.
- 24:13Speaker 1: And on the sort of this question, we're going to
- 24:16Speaker 1: talk about a bunch of your favorite Christmas songs here
- 24:18Speaker 1: in a bit, a bunch of your recommendations. And in
- 24:21Speaker 1: the Patreon we've got a good little back and forth
- 24:24Speaker 1: going in the chat on favorite Christmas songs and one
- 24:27Speaker 1: of the disco's Chris on it. That's not his real name,
- 24:30Speaker 1: that's his stage name or DJ name. Chris has put
- 24:33Speaker 1: together a massive Spotify playlist called Disgraceline Christmas Songs. It's
- 24:38Speaker 1: got all of your songs that you've recommended here and elsewhere.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Chris has been curating this. Go to Spotify and just
- 24:44Speaker 1: search Disgraceline Christmas Songs. Chris. If you're listening, I hope
- 24:48Speaker 1: you add these new songs in there. And Chris, just
- 24:50Speaker 1: shout out, man, thanks for doing this. Appreciate you. I
- 24:53Speaker 1: appreciate the crowded House vinyl that you sent me that
- 24:56Speaker 1: I have not been able to listen to yet, because
- 24:59Speaker 1: my record player is currently on the fritz. I might
- 25:03Speaker 1: listen to it. Mike, my son's got this little uh
- 25:06Speaker 1: third Man Records record player. It's like one of those
- 25:09Speaker 1: old school toy record players with the speaker read in
- 25:13Speaker 1: the same same kind of suitcase with the with the turntable.
- 25:18Speaker 1: It sounds like shit, but it sounds like shit in
- 25:20Speaker 1: a cool way. I don't know. Maybe I'll check out
- 25:21Speaker 1: the crowded House final on that anyways. Chris appreciate you.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Six one seven nine oh six six six three eight
- 25:26Speaker 1: Scott from the five to six to two.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Jake got from the five to six to two. My
- 25:31Speaker 2: favorite Christmas song is two thousand Miles by the Pretenders.
- 25:36Speaker 2: It's not really a Christmas song. It's more of a
- 25:39Speaker 2: tribute to James Honeyman. Scott a guitar player, and I
- 25:44Speaker 2: think it's just a beautiful song. And I'm from Ohio
- 25:48Speaker 2: and when I go back sometimes at Christmas time, it's
- 25:51Speaker 2: just it's very melancholy. Okay, Jake, love the show. Thanks bye.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Miles from Pretender's amazing song. Incredible song. And we're gonna
- 26:04Speaker 1: do a Chrissy Hinde episode. We got real close to
- 26:06Speaker 1: doing it. This year, we didn't. We're gonna do one soon,
- 26:09Speaker 1: I believe in the new year at some point, Scott,
- 26:13Speaker 1: thanks for the call. Six one seven rights in, Jake,
- 26:16Speaker 1: You're gonna cover why. Fairytale of New York is probably
- 26:19Speaker 1: the best all caps Christmas song of all time, but
- 26:23Speaker 1: a close second is The Waitresses. The Waitresses Christmas rapping.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Excuse me four minutes and thirty seconds to tell an
- 26:30Speaker 1: entire year of misconnections and opportunities wrapped up with a
- 26:35Speaker 1: serendipitous meeting in New York. Bodega lyrics, music storytelling skills
- 26:40Speaker 1: are all off the charts. Well now, I am super
- 26:43Speaker 1: intrigued and I can't wait to check this out. Three
- 26:46Speaker 1: to one two rights in. Good morning, Jake. I'm just
- 26:49Speaker 1: catching up with the Disgrace Sland episodes and heard you're
- 26:51Speaker 1: soliloquy about how rock and roll is dead and it's
- 26:54Speaker 1: never coming back, and this is a crazy false statement.
- 26:57Speaker 1: It's not as dominant as it once was, but it's
- 27:00Speaker 1: still there. There are a lot of new, exciting bands
- 27:03Speaker 1: putting out quality stuff. We just won't hear them in
- 27:05Speaker 1: the Top forty again. But screw the Top forty and
- 27:08Speaker 1: let the gatekeeping begin. Have a great day. Your podcast
- 27:11Speaker 1: is the best out there. I have your book from
- 27:13Speaker 1: a few years back and hope that you'll put something
- 27:14Speaker 1: out there again. Three one two. Really appreciate the text
- 27:18Speaker 1: because it gives me an opportunity to explain this a
- 27:20Speaker 1: little bit better. I agree with everything you're saying, but
- 27:24Speaker 1: you're missing my point. My point is exactly exactly this.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Rock and roll is dead because it is not on
- 27:31Speaker 1: the top forty. Rock and roll is dead because it
- 27:34Speaker 1: is not pushing mainstream culture in the way that it
- 27:36Speaker 1: once did, and I don't think it ever will again.
- 27:39Speaker 1: And if you listen last week like you did three
- 27:41Speaker 1: one two, I think, in addition to the music sort
- 27:45Speaker 1: of becoming relegated to a sort of subgenre of popular
- 27:50Speaker 1: music and the way that jazz has become, I think
- 27:53Speaker 1: that's the fate of rock and roll. It'll never dial completely.
- 27:56Speaker 1: I'm totally aware that there are incredible rock bands out
- 28:00Speaker 1: there killing it nightly in clubs, even in stadiums, but
- 28:05Speaker 1: still it doesn't erase the fact, doesn't negate my point
- 28:10Speaker 1: that rock and roll no longer drives popular culture. It doesn't.
- 28:13Speaker 1: It just does not, and I don't think it will again.
- 28:16Speaker 1: And that's a freaking bum out three one two. It
- 28:18Speaker 1: really bums me out. And like I said, I do
- 28:20Speaker 1: believe that the trajectory is it will be relegated to
- 28:25Speaker 1: a subgenre of popular culture in the same way the
- 28:28Speaker 1: jazz swing, you know, big band music, all genres that
- 28:33Speaker 1: once dominated the top forty. That's where rock is going.
- 28:38Speaker 1: And I think what will happen is a lot of
- 28:40Speaker 1: these stories will be forgotten, a lot of these larger
- 28:43Speaker 1: than life personalities will fade with time. And part of
- 28:49Speaker 1: what we're doing here right now is preserving that it's
- 28:54Speaker 1: at the core of this storytelling. And in a way
- 28:58Speaker 1: three one two, those bands that you're talking about that
- 29:01Speaker 1: are out there killing it right now, they're doing the
- 29:03Speaker 1: same thing. And my hat's off to them all right
- 29:06Speaker 1: over on x B K Kremal, cremoral, be Cremeral, I
- 29:12Speaker 1: don't know what they's called at three WK, Kramer hit
- 29:16Speaker 1: me up, says, listening to the led Zeppelin story this morning,
- 29:19Speaker 1: and I got to say, I don't think I'll be
- 29:21Speaker 1: able to hear them quite the same way again without
- 29:24Speaker 1: feeling a dark cloud of knowing. And some things can't
- 29:27Speaker 1: be unseen. Like Jimmy Page was thirty years old. Yep,
- 29:33Speaker 1: you're absolutely right. The led Zeppelin one is a tough
- 29:38Speaker 1: one when considering our support of the art versus the
- 29:42Speaker 1: artists based on Jimmy Page's behavior back in the day.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Side note, real quick, over on X. Any of you
- 29:49Speaker 1: over on X who are from New Jersey or DC area,
- 29:53Speaker 1: and you got eyes on these drones that are going
- 29:56Speaker 1: on these UAPs, these UFOs get at me at Disgrace
- 30:00Speaker 1: all right, I want to know what's up. I'm seeing
- 30:04Speaker 1: a bunch of stuff. It's freaking me out. I'm sure
- 30:06Speaker 1: you're freaked out to that point. We'll be looking not
- 30:10Speaker 1: at drones tonight if you're listening on Thursday to this episode,
- 30:14Speaker 1: because we're going to be looking at the Tom DeLong
- 30:18Speaker 1: little documentary that we made Disgraceland doc called We Are
- 30:21Speaker 1: Not Alone. This is going to drop live on Patreon
- 30:25Speaker 1: at eight pm Eastern Standard Time Thursday, December twelfth, which
- 30:30Speaker 1: is when this bonus episode that you're listening to right
- 30:33Speaker 1: now is being released. I will be in Patreon in
- 30:38Speaker 1: the chat chat and away commenting on this, eating my popcorn.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Beavis and butt he editing this thing. As I like
- 30:43Speaker 1: to say, we're gonna be talking to UAPs uphology the
- 30:46Speaker 1: whole bit. This this documentary is gonna be available only
- 30:49Speaker 1: to Disgraceland Patreon All Access members, but it's going to
- 30:52Speaker 1: be available to paid members and free members. So go
- 30:55Speaker 1: to disgracelandpod dot com slash membership and sign up, all right,
- 30:58Speaker 1: and I hope to see you there, all right, six
- 31:00Speaker 1: one seven nine oh six six six three eight to
- 31:02Speaker 1: leave me a voicemail, to send me a text at
- 31:04Speaker 1: Disgrace Slam Pod. You can hit me up on x
- 31:08Speaker 1: you can hit me up on Instagram, you can hit
- 31:10Speaker 1: me up on Facebook. I've been way more active on
- 31:13Speaker 1: Facebook in the last week. You may have noticed, you know.
- 31:16Speaker 1: It's one of those things. I woke up a couple
- 31:19Speaker 1: of days ago I looked at Facebook. We had attracted
- 31:22Speaker 1: like four thousand new followers in a month's time without
- 31:26Speaker 1: me even posting, just cross posting reels over from Instagram.
- 31:31Speaker 1: And there's a pretty active community over there. If you
- 31:34Speaker 1: guys are over there on Facebook, I've been neglecting you.
- 31:36Speaker 1: I apologize. I think what I'm going to start doing
- 31:40Speaker 1: on Facebook, because it's a different medium. I think I'm
- 31:43Speaker 1: going to be releasing some different videos over there that
- 31:45Speaker 1: I'm not releasing anywhere else longer videos in the reels,
- 31:50Speaker 1: but not quite as long as what you'd find on YouTube,
- 31:53Speaker 1: you know, like in the you know, two to three
- 31:55Speaker 1: minute range something like that. Just trying some different types
- 31:58Speaker 1: of storytelling with us over there. Uh, there seems to
- 32:02Speaker 1: be an appetite for it. So if you're if you're
- 32:04Speaker 1: on Facebook and you're listening to this, and you are
- 32:06Speaker 1: active on Facebook, give me a follow at Disgrace Lam Pod.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Even if you're already following me, go to the Disgrace
- 32:13Speaker 1: Lam podcast page and engage, you know, like it, write
- 32:18Speaker 1: a review, whatever, just you know, talk to me, comment whatever,
- 32:22Speaker 1: because what's happening. I don't know if you know this,
- 32:24Speaker 1: but when I post something on Facebook, ninety percent of
- 32:27Speaker 1: the people who see it are not you guys, are
- 32:29Speaker 1: not the followers. I don't know why. This is just
- 32:33Speaker 1: the way that it is. But if you engage with me,
- 32:35Speaker 1: you will get the content or regularly the algorithm will
- 32:38Speaker 1: figure it out. It's something that you want, Okay. Anyways,
- 32:41Speaker 1: Troy Daniel on Facebook writes how to make Gravy by
- 32:44Speaker 1: Paul Kelly is a song you may not get sent
- 32:48Speaker 1: Kelly is kind of Australia's Dylan, and around here, the
- 32:51Speaker 1: twenty first of December is known as Gravy Day. Give
- 32:54Speaker 1: it a spin, I reckon you'll dig it, Troy. I
- 32:56Speaker 1: have spun it and someone from Australia turned me on
- 33:01Speaker 1: to this last year and I love the song. It's
- 33:06Speaker 1: great and I love it so much. I thought it.
- 33:09Speaker 1: I thought your message worth reading here because if anyone
- 33:12Speaker 1: has not heard this, you need to check it out.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Paul Kelly Gravy by Paul Kelly. Okay, Christmas to go.
- 33:18Speaker 1: Check that out on Instagram at Disgrace Slam pod Anastasio Staskalopolis.
- 33:25Speaker 1: My Greek brethren writes, Hey, Jake ad from the four
- 33:29Speaker 1: to one zero for best Christmas rock and roll song,
- 33:33Speaker 1: Merry Christmas, I don't want to fight tonight by the Ramones.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Such an honest song. So many of us can immediately
- 33:39Speaker 1: relate to it, Yes, yes we can. There's nothing worse
- 33:43Speaker 1: than fighting with your loved one on Christmas. Okay, I
- 33:47Speaker 1: can't say it happens to me. My wife and I
- 33:49Speaker 1: get a good thing going, but it has happened to
- 33:51Speaker 1: me in the past, girlfriends, etc. And it's a fucking drag.
- 33:56Speaker 1: No one wants tension around the holidays. If you, guys,
- 34:00Speaker 1: you're heading into a tense situation this holiday. You know
- 34:04Speaker 1: whatever it is, bad family history, You don't want to
- 34:07Speaker 1: talk about politics, you don't want to talk about Just
- 34:10Speaker 1: talk about Shadah, just you know, light in the mood.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Let people know Shada is not actually sha Day's name.
- 34:16Speaker 1: I mean, it is her name, but it's not her name.
- 34:17Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. It's a band's name. It's
- 34:19Speaker 1: kind of her name. You know. You can you pull
- 34:22Speaker 1: from any number of crazy disgrace Land factoids that I've
- 34:25Speaker 1: given you to sort of distract from not fighting. Merry Christmas.
- 34:30Speaker 1: I don't want to fight tonight, all right, guys six
- 34:33Speaker 1: one seven nine oh six six six three eight to
- 34:35Speaker 1: leave me a voicemail, send me a text at disgracelam pod, Facebook, X, Instagram,
- 34:40Speaker 1: but this week especially Facebook, get at me. Send me
- 34:44Speaker 1: your messages, send me your comments, send me your recommendations,
- 34:48Speaker 1: your reviews, whatever you got, I'm here for it. Speaking
- 34:51Speaker 1: of reviews, I'll be back in the flash, all right, guys.
- 35:08Speaker 1: As an independent podcast, you know the drill, we live
- 35:10Speaker 1: and die by the power of audience recommendation. So get
- 35:14Speaker 1: out there, and if you've left a review for Disgraceland,
- 35:17Speaker 1: I thank you very much. If you have not, I
- 35:19Speaker 1: encourage you to because every every week I read a
- 35:22Speaker 1: couple of reviews right here, and uh, I reward you
- 35:26Speaker 1: reviewers who get in touch with me with some free merch.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Sometimes it's a T shirt, though not always. Sometimes it's
- 35:34Speaker 1: just a pin. Okay, sometimes it's a poster, depends on
- 35:37Speaker 1: what we have, all right, And if you have written
- 35:40Speaker 1: to me, and because because I ready review here and
- 35:43Speaker 1: you have not yet received the merch, I thank you
- 35:48Speaker 1: for your patience. It's a it's a virtue. It's a
- 35:50Speaker 1: it's a hard one for me, so I get it.
- 35:52Speaker 1: But I I I'm telling you the stuff is coming.
- 35:55Speaker 1: It is the holiday season. Things are a little backed
- 35:57Speaker 1: up here at Casa Day Disgraceland, uh the Double Levis offices.
- 36:01Speaker 1: But you will receive your Disgrace Sam merch. Thanks for
- 36:03Speaker 1: your patience and thanks for the review. We got this
- 36:06Speaker 1: one here from Carl. On this week Sean McGown episode,
- 36:10Speaker 1: Carl says this episode is in my top five on
- 36:12Speaker 1: a wider scale regarding the Disgrace Lam podcast, regardless that
- 36:15Speaker 1: the subject matter is in my wheelhouse production, content and
- 36:18Speaker 1: delivery is solid gold in the standard that all other
- 36:22Speaker 1: podcasts should be measured to. Jake and the wider Double
- 36:25Speaker 1: Elvis team keep up the world class work. It's fantastic
- 36:29Speaker 1: and wildly appreciated, and I'm spreading the gospel. According to
- 36:32Speaker 1: Saint Jake, I am no Saint Carl, but I appreciate
- 36:35Speaker 1: you and I appreciate the review on Spotify. Thank you.
- 36:38Speaker 1: I know the guys and gals here at Double Elvisdoo
- 36:41Speaker 1: as well. Andrew is present over on Apple Rights Love
- 36:45Speaker 1: three ohs. Love this show. I work a lot of
- 36:49Speaker 1: hours doing my numbing work, not mentioning what I do
- 36:52Speaker 1: because I don't want anything to happen to me. That
- 36:54Speaker 1: would be a disgrace. Hmm. I'm intrigued now, Andrew. Andrew
- 36:57Speaker 1: goes on to say, I just became a member, and
- 36:59Speaker 1: I wake up excited to go to work because I
- 37:01Speaker 1: know that I'm going to listen to the shows. So
- 37:04Speaker 1: many interesting facts, stories and people. Jake's storytelling a narration
- 37:07Speaker 1: is captivating. I love the music and dispersed throughout the
- 37:10Speaker 1: episodes as well. It's uplifting gets me happily through the
- 37:13Speaker 1: day and night as I plug along. This has made
- 37:16Speaker 1: my day to day life so much livelier. Four o's
- 37:20Speaker 1: and so listen, Andrew. I appreciate this. I really do
- 37:24Speaker 1: get in touch with gay some merch and Andrew. I
- 37:26Speaker 1: don't know what you do for a living. I'm gonna imagine, however,
- 37:30Speaker 1: that you're a CIA analyst and you're plugging away out
- 37:34Speaker 1: in Langley. Is that where the CIA is Langley, Virginia
- 37:37Speaker 1: or is that the FBI? I don't know where. I
- 37:40Speaker 1: guess the CIA, you know what, I bet the CIA.
- 37:42Speaker 1: They're just in these nondescript, you know, business office buildings
- 37:47Speaker 1: we see on the side of the highway. I imagine
- 37:49Speaker 1: you're in one of those, Andrew, just plugging away, you know,
- 37:53Speaker 1: going through your data, monitoring us, making sure we're not
- 37:58Speaker 1: speaking truth that you don't want to not Just kidding, Andrew,
- 38:01Speaker 1: thank you so much. I don't know what you do
- 38:02Speaker 1: for a living, but I'm intrigued, all right. Another way
- 38:04Speaker 1: to get at me is through email, discretion and pod
- 38:06Speaker 1: at gmail dot com. This one comes from Christopher Pogue.
- 38:11Speaker 1: Subject Pogue's message, Hey Jake, just listen to you Shane
- 38:16Speaker 1: McGown podcast fucking awesome. You have noticed my name is Pogue.
- 38:21Speaker 1: So I've been familiar with Pogue's music for a while.
- 38:24Speaker 1: I do stand up comedy. So I have a bit
- 38:26Speaker 1: about my name, how no one pronounces it right because
- 38:29Speaker 1: it has a silent you in it. Only so many
- 38:32Speaker 1: words have a silent you, so it's vague. Sorry, it's Vago.
- 38:38Speaker 1: I also get into the band the Pogues Pogue mahone
- 38:43Speaker 1: and what Pogue means, and how it has a cool background.
- 38:46Speaker 1: So if anyone wants to make fun of my name,
- 38:48Speaker 1: they can pogue my ass. So anyway, I also do
- 38:50Speaker 1: a stand up podcast called Comedy Anarchy on Spotify. I
- 38:53Speaker 1: was hoping for you to check it out and give
- 38:54Speaker 1: it a shout out. I just shouted it out there,
