- 0:55Speaker 4: I got to see you the other night, you did,
- 0:58Speaker 4: how are you?
- 1:00Speaker 3: I'm good? Tell the people what you saw me?
- 1:02Speaker 4: As we went and saw Stevie Wonder the other night. Uh,
- 1:08Speaker 4: sort of together together. I don't know it was.
- 1:10Speaker 3: I was in the same building, yep.
- 1:14Speaker 4: But we got a nice little chat in beforehand, which
- 1:17Speaker 4: was fun, and it was fun. Just a badass show.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Dude.
- 1:21Speaker 4: Stevie's I mean, I said it to someone last week.
- 1:25Speaker 4: I think he's maybe my favorite artist.
- 1:28Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean he's way up there. When people ask
- 1:31Speaker 5: me what my favorite album is. I'm like, there's so
- 1:34Speaker 5: many great ones, but songs in the Key of Life
- 1:37Speaker 5: is always it's up there.
- 1:38Speaker 4: He's Rushmore at the very least right of like the
- 1:41Speaker 4: artists I love and albums so and man, he just
- 1:45Speaker 4: played banger after banger. He played I think every single
- 1:49Speaker 4: song I wanted to hear.
- 1:51Speaker 5: There was only there was one I went through and
- 1:54Speaker 5: I was like, oh, he didn't do he didn't do
- 1:57Speaker 5: a couple, but which ones did you have or you
- 2:00Speaker 5: don't remember? The one that I really love is I
- 2:04Speaker 5: Believe When a Fall. Oh yeah, before he didn't do
- 2:10Speaker 5: that song.
- 2:11Speaker 4: I kind of forgot about that song. I do like this.
- 2:13Speaker 5: I I love that song. It it's the end credits
- 2:17Speaker 5: of High Fidelity.
- 2:18Speaker 4: Oh sure, sure sure, And yeah.
- 2:22Speaker 3: I've just been a big fan of that.
- 2:23Speaker 5: But I mean, he's got so many hits.
- 2:28Speaker 3: It was nuts.
- 2:29Speaker 4: The one I saw was Reggae Woman because I love
- 2:31Speaker 4: that song, but that's old so I'm like, you might
- 2:35Speaker 4: not even like that one. I don't even know or like.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Dude, he did super old one that he was all
- 2:40Speaker 3: over the place. Man, it was it was so good.
- 2:43Speaker 3: My only complaint. Forty minutes late.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Bru Yeah, that was. That was a little tough because.
- 2:49Speaker 5: I had I had my dad staying with the kids,
- 2:53Speaker 5: and like he needed to drive home after and it
- 2:56Speaker 5: was he had like an early flight.
- 2:58Speaker 3: I was just like, so sorry, he's.
- 3:01Speaker 4: Not even on yet. Did you stay the whole time?
- 3:05Speaker 4: We did not?
- 3:06Speaker 1: We left.
- 3:07Speaker 5: Yeah, I kind of figured your superstition, okay.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Right on, you were like we did. That was also
- 3:13Speaker 4: like the last song pretty much, so.
- 3:16Speaker 5: There was one they started a different song that was
- 3:19Speaker 5: It was almost just seemed like a jam with like
- 3:21Speaker 5: the forty five people that were on.
- 3:23Speaker 4: Stage jam for a little We gotta go, Yeah, for sure,
- 3:26Speaker 4: we got to go. A lot of people also left them.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Yeah we were we were not alone lost. Yeah yeah.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Oh man. It was so good though, and like, dude,
- 3:38Speaker 4: he sounds so good still.
- 3:40Speaker 3: I just couldn't seventy four.
- 3:41Speaker 5: I couldn't believe something like seventy four. And I just
- 3:44Speaker 5: could not believe how his high notes came out.
- 3:48Speaker 4: It's like the easiest part was singing the high notes
- 3:50Speaker 4: for him. It was bizarre and like so apparently live
- 3:54Speaker 4: because like it wasn't perfect, but I love that, you
- 3:57Speaker 4: know what I mean?
- 3:58Speaker 5: Like, yeah, yeah, he had to restart for once in
- 4:01Speaker 5: my life because we had a coughing fit and he
- 4:04Speaker 5: was like, no, no, no, no, no, start this thing over.
- 4:07Speaker 4: And I love that. I've always been a fan of that, Like,
- 4:09Speaker 4: hey man, yeah it happens, it's cool, just start it over.
- 4:13Speaker 4: It's all good.
- 4:13Speaker 5: I'm really glad he did, because again, one of my
- 4:16Speaker 5: favorites is and it was bad. That's probably the only
- 4:20Speaker 5: time I'm going to see him sing that song.
- 4:22Speaker 4: So almost certainly. But he's so funny. I didn't know
- 4:26Speaker 4: he was that funny either. I guess just cracking jokes.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Who's a funny guy.
- 4:30Speaker 3: I liked him and just silly.
- 4:32Speaker 4: He's just a goofball does all the voices and.
- 4:35Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, it was a trip.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Man. I'm so happy we went.
- 4:41Speaker 4: Sami's Sami's uh, really happy. I just decided to go
- 4:45Speaker 4: for it. And thanks because I think you brought it
- 4:47Speaker 4: up that it was even happening.
- 4:49Speaker 5: So yeah, thanks to Kelsey because I didn't know until
- 4:53Speaker 5: like a couple of weeks before it was going to happen.
- 4:55Speaker 5: And was like, yes, we're like she told me that
- 4:58Speaker 5: and I was like, did you buy tickets?
- 5:00Speaker 3: She's like no, It's like I'm buying tickets buying tickets.
- 5:02Speaker 4: Now what are we doing?
- 5:04Speaker 3: Like he is number one on my bucket? Yeah?
- 5:07Speaker 4: So, and like you said, probably not a lot of
- 5:09Speaker 4: chances left. You know, I hate to be morbid, but
- 5:11Speaker 4: also time goes on. I mean, or does it rob
- 5:15Speaker 4: or does it?
- 5:16Speaker 3: Or does it?
- 5:16Speaker 5: I just I just can't imagine him being able to
- 5:19Speaker 5: sing all those songs in the same keys.
- 5:21Speaker 3: Bro, they're so high before, so high.
- 5:23Speaker 4: He's so good too, man, Yeah, he's fun.
- 5:26Speaker 5: So that was our Stevie wonder appreciation.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Yes a minute, we love you, Stevie.
- 5:30Speaker 4: Should you hear we love you?
- 5:31Speaker 5: Stevie?
- 5:33Speaker 3: Let's go into what was the last movie you watched?
- 5:36Speaker 4: Last movie I watched? It was a spooky one. I
- 5:39Speaker 4: was trying to stay with the end of the I
- 5:42Speaker 4: guess this is post post Halloween now. So but you know,
- 5:45Speaker 4: whatever it is, we do we can. I watched The Substance.
- 5:51Speaker 5: Did you go to the theater and see the Substance?
- 5:53Speaker 4: No? It was streaming right, Maybe I procured it. I
- 5:56Speaker 4: guess I don't remember. Okay, I didn't go to the
- 5:59Speaker 4: theater because I would not have watched that in the theater.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Thank polarizing.
- 6:02Speaker 5: That's why I was like, I'm waiting to stream it.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I might.
- 6:07Speaker 4: Have a bootleged a copy. Then I don't know who
- 6:10Speaker 4: can tell, who can say you can't prevent anything, rob,
- 6:14Speaker 4: But yes, this movie is deeply upsetting. It is like
- 6:20Speaker 4: body what do they call that, like body gore horror film,
- 6:27Speaker 4: body horror? I think it's called body. Oh, it actually
- 6:29Speaker 4: says it right on IMDb body horror. It is that
- 6:32Speaker 4: to the nth degree. A really interesting story and I
- 6:37Speaker 4: really I hate loved it for like, like you, I
- 6:42Speaker 4: think you had told me this the first like two
- 6:45Speaker 4: thirds of it and then they kind of lost me.
- 6:48Speaker 4: They went a little bit of field on me.
- 6:50Speaker 5: I watched I watched a review on TikTok it just
- 6:54Speaker 5: like the first seventy five minutes were maybe one of
- 6:59Speaker 5: the best movies I've ever seen. Red Adust half hour
- 7:03Speaker 5: is unwatchable, is what he said. Yeah, he said, might
- 7:06Speaker 5: be the worst movie I've ever seen.
- 7:09Speaker 4: I'm kind of with that person. Actually, I ye, it's
- 7:12Speaker 4: so hard for me to judge. I don't love horror movies,
- 7:15Speaker 4: as we've talked about before, right, but this is a
- 7:18Speaker 4: lot about like like fame and you know, looks and
- 7:24Speaker 4: like people aging, specifically women aging and like all of
- 7:28Speaker 4: these things which are all interesting to me and a
- 7:31Speaker 4: cool story and then yeah, they just kind of lose
- 7:33Speaker 4: me halfway through. Glad I watched it. I never want
- 7:36Speaker 4: to see this book him and sure it's you know,
- 7:41Speaker 4: I'm a little too tender of heart, I think for
- 7:44Speaker 4: for these movies. But it was still kind of fun
- 7:47Speaker 4: to watch it. It was it's yeah, it was wild.
- 7:51Speaker 4: It was wild. I don't know if I can even
- 7:54Speaker 4: recommend it to anyone, Like right, I don't know if
- 7:58Speaker 4: you think you'll like it, I get I see will
- 8:00Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 8:01Speaker 5: That's how That's how I was with Midsommar, Like that
- 8:03Speaker 5: was unbelievable filmmaking. I would never recommend that to somebody
- 8:09Speaker 5: that I love, because I still have those images in
- 8:13Speaker 5: my brain when I close my eyes sometimes.
- 8:15Speaker 4: Yeah, and this one's not it's not that like it's
- 8:19Speaker 4: a because it's a little more like Kookie and out there.
- 8:22Speaker 4: It's I don't know for me, I can separate from
- 8:25Speaker 4: that a little.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Easier or something.
- 8:26Speaker 4: I don't know. Yeah, but yeah, it's it is. It's upseting.
- 8:29Speaker 4: I don't know, So check it out if you want.
- 8:32Speaker 4: I don't know what to tell you. People The acting
- 8:34Speaker 4: was great. Margaret Quality was awesome in it. To me,
- 8:37Speaker 4: Moore was great in it, and it was kind of
- 8:41Speaker 4: just those two honestly, Like there was a few other people,
- 8:44Speaker 4: but they're definitely lead leads. So uh yeah, that's all
- 8:49Speaker 4: I got for that one. How about you? What have
- 8:50Speaker 4: you been watching?
- 8:52Speaker 5: I went to the theater one day while the kids
- 8:53Speaker 5: were at school and checked out the new Jason Reightman
- 8:56Speaker 5: film Saturday Night.
- 8:58Speaker 4: Oh I really want to see this. What did you think?
- 9:02Speaker 3: I liked it.
- 9:03Speaker 5: It's all about what happened leading up to the very
- 9:06Speaker 5: first episode of Saturday Night Live, so it's like the
- 9:10Speaker 5: like ninety minutes before it's gonna start.
- 9:13Speaker 4: It's one of those like real timey kind of things, right, Yeah, yeah,
- 9:16Speaker 4: that's cool. I like those that can be a cool
- 9:20Speaker 4: I don't know thing anyway, it was cool.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 9:23Speaker 5: The biggest names of the movie play small roles. Willem
- 9:26Speaker 5: Dafoe and JK. Simmons are probably the biggest names. Oh cool,
- 9:29Speaker 5: nice our guy Lamar and Morris plays Garrett Morris, which
- 9:34Speaker 5: is fun and apparently they are not related.
- 9:36Speaker 4: Oh okay, just I love him so much.
- 9:40Speaker 5: Finn Wolfhart from Stranger Things plays an NBC page Nicholas
- 9:45Speaker 5: Brown from Succession, the really tall guy.
- 9:49Speaker 4: He plays cousin Greg.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Yeah, they yes, Greg.
- 9:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:53Speaker 3: He plays two roles. He plays weird Jim Henson and
- 9:56Speaker 3: he plays Andy Kaufman. And because they're so different, it works.
- 10:04Speaker 4: You like, can't like, were you almost surprised when you
- 10:07Speaker 4: realize that?
- 10:09Speaker 5: Yeah? I think I had actually seen him on a
- 10:11Speaker 5: talk show. Okay, god that that was happening, So it
- 10:13Speaker 5: didn't like my mind, but I was.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Like, it works.
- 10:17Speaker 4: I don't feel worried about that.
- 10:18Speaker 3: And he was really good at both.
- 10:20Speaker 4: I like that Fun in Succession, Oh, he was in Fun.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:25Speaker 5: But and I mean there's a bunch of other people
- 10:27Speaker 5: you'd recognize but maybe don't know their names.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Totally.
- 10:30Speaker 3: It was pretty stressful.
- 10:32Speaker 4: Yeah bad.
- 10:34Speaker 5: They were not like a polished machine at that point.
- 10:38Speaker 5: A lot of stuff going wrong pretty much anything that
- 10:41Speaker 5: could go wrong when sure.
- 10:44Speaker 3: It was really stressful.
- 10:45Speaker 5: It it almost felt like a sorc inscript with all
- 10:49Speaker 5: of like the walking.
- 10:50Speaker 4: Into yeah, a lot of like hallways stuff this hallways
- 10:54Speaker 4: it doesn't work or what exact costumes yeah, or you
- 10:58Speaker 4: know whatever, it would happen totally, that's cool.
- 11:01Speaker 3: But really good.
- 11:03Speaker 5: I wouldn't be surprised if it's up for some awards
- 11:05Speaker 5: like script or maybe some actings.
- 11:09Speaker 3: I doubt the acting, but yeah, it was. It was impressive.
- 11:13Speaker 3: I enjoyed it. I was a little stressed out.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Though, gotcha. But it was good. We've also been a
- 11:18Speaker 4: part of those shows where it's like, is this gonna happen?
- 11:22Speaker 5: Yeah, and I mean we all know that it's been
- 11:24Speaker 5: on for fifty years, so like that. But still, I mean,
- 11:29Speaker 5: but still, they did a really good job that I
- 11:32Speaker 5: was still stressed out knowing about a show that started fifty.
- 11:36Speaker 4: Yeah, that's so good, I guess.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Yeah. Have you been streaming anything fun?
- 11:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I've streamed the first Oh, I guess I don't
- 11:44Speaker 4: remember three or four episodes anyway of shrinking on Apple TV.
- 11:50Speaker 5: Plus that's the second season.
- 11:52Speaker 4: The second season is out now. Yeah, so I happened.
- 11:56Speaker 3: To love that first season.
- 11:58Speaker 4: The first season was so fun and what a roller
- 12:01Speaker 4: coaster ride.
- 12:02Speaker 5: Like.
- 12:02Speaker 4: This show does such a good job at being really
- 12:06Speaker 4: emotionally charged and then also funny at the same time,
- 12:11Speaker 4: or at least like they go back and forth really easily.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:15Speaker 4: Yeah, it's really great. I like this show a ton.
- 12:19Speaker 4: All the people in it are super good. It's I
- 12:21Speaker 4: think we've talked about it before, but Jason Siegel, Jessica Williams,
- 12:25Speaker 4: Harrison Ford, they're kind of like the lead leads. And
- 12:29Speaker 4: then there's a bunch of other people that are really
- 12:31Speaker 4: great that you've seen in other stuff that Krista Miller
- 12:35Speaker 4: cracks me up in this show especially. She's really funny.
- 12:39Speaker 3: I think the Drew Carey show.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Yeah, she was Scrubs back in the day, right y, yeah,
- 12:44Speaker 4: way back. Oh yeah, Drew Carrey show. God, I forgot
- 12:48Speaker 4: that part.
- 12:48Speaker 3: But she's been all over the place.
- 12:50Speaker 6: Man.
- 12:50Speaker 5: She was on that one show with Courtney.
- 12:52Speaker 4: Cox or something.
- 12:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Yeah, she's so funny in this show. I don't know.
- 12:59Speaker 4: I really I expected to not like that character, and
- 13:02Speaker 4: she's become one of my like a little favorite. She's
- 13:05Speaker 4: just a side character, but really fun and great. But yeah,
- 13:09Speaker 4: I just I like this show a lot. It's really
- 13:12Speaker 4: fun to see like therapy stuff being so like mainstream too.
- 13:17Speaker 4: That's kind of fun and just great.
- 13:19Speaker 5: Actually, it is one of those like super implausible oh yeah, yeah,
- 13:24Speaker 5: therapy things.
- 13:25Speaker 4: I think he likes it very much.
- 13:27Speaker 5: I don't think she's watched it, but I'm like, yeah, yeah,
- 13:32Speaker 5: I think it would be hard for her to get
- 13:34Speaker 5: around what he's doing his therapy.
- 13:37Speaker 4: It would be like an a cappella show and we'd
- 13:40Speaker 4: be like, well, that's not really how that works, or
- 13:43Speaker 4: you know, whatever is it though? But yeah, this show
- 13:47Speaker 4: is really fun. Apple TV Plus go check it out.
- 13:51Speaker 4: How about you, though, what have you been streaming?
- 13:54Speaker 5: I went to the Netflix machine and I watched the
- 13:57Speaker 5: new documentary featuring Will Ferrell and his friend Harper, who
- 14:02Speaker 5: has recently become a woman, called Will and Harper.
- 14:06Speaker 4: My sister in law has been telling me to watch
- 14:08Speaker 4: this and I just haven't done yet, but it looks lovely.
- 14:11Speaker 5: Tell me everything you you in particular Will love.
- 14:17Speaker 3: So.
- 14:17Speaker 5: Harper used to be the head writer of SNL. Oh
- 14:19Speaker 5: both mine were snl thinks.
- 14:21Speaker 4: That's fun.
- 14:23Speaker 5: And it was like when Will Ferrell was in the
- 14:25Speaker 5: cast and they had become close. So when Harper reached
- 14:30Speaker 5: out to Will to tell him about the transformation, he
- 14:34Speaker 5: came up with the idea to travel with Harper around
- 14:37Speaker 5: the country to see how Harper would feel going to
- 14:39Speaker 5: the same places now as a woman.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Oh.
- 14:42Speaker 4: Interesting, that's a cool that's a cool concept.
- 14:44Speaker 5: Okay, because Harper is into like dive bars and like
- 14:50Speaker 5: diners and like.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Yeah, kind of rough places.
- 14:57Speaker 5: So you know, it was interesting saying it was a
- 15:00Speaker 5: little stressful seeing how people would treat them in these
- 15:04Speaker 5: kinds of places. There were some beautiful moments and awkward moments.
- 15:11Speaker 5: It was a really wonderful film. That's made me just
- 15:15Speaker 5: love Will Ferrell even more because do we get to
- 15:18Speaker 5: see them like in the car together too, just like.
- 15:20Speaker 4: Talking about that life and you know what led to everything.
- 15:25Speaker 4: I'm sure you know all the stuff. Oh that's great. Yeah,
- 15:28Speaker 4: I'm gonna very emotional, like I'm gonna cry constantly.
- 15:32Speaker 5: You're gonna cry a lot. I definitely did a few times.
- 15:35Speaker 4: That's great.
- 15:36Speaker 3: It's a really beautiful film.
- 15:37Speaker 4: That's cool. I love that.
- 15:38Speaker 5: I would highly recommend it.
- 15:40Speaker 4: Have to check that out. That was on Netflix.
- 15:41Speaker 3: You said Netflix fis love it?
- 15:44Speaker 4: Cool? Ah, Well, what do you think should we do?

- 16:40Speaker 5: and shockingly, we have never done top five best movie scores,
- 16:47Speaker 5: and we figured this one was a really good.
- 16:50Speaker 4: Film, strong contender. I'm excited for this one and also
- 16:54Speaker 4: nervous that I'm forgetting like some very Oh my gosh.
- 16:57Speaker 4: I know.
- 16:57Speaker 5: I spent a lot of time on it last night
- 16:59Speaker 5: before I went to and I was just like, oh,
- 17:01Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 17:02Speaker 4: I finally had to just be like, you gotta stop,
- 17:04Speaker 4: you gotta stop.
- 17:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:05Speaker 5: Yeah, But and I was a little like on all
- 17:09Speaker 5: the lists I saw, like some of my favorites are
- 17:12Speaker 5: not on the best set.
- 17:15Speaker 4: Get scared in those situations because I'm like, oh god,
- 17:18Speaker 4: what am I forgetting? You know? Or whatever?
- 17:21Speaker 3: Yeah, but we'll find out. We'll see fun.
- 17:26Speaker 4: Well, that will be great. We will look forward to that.
- 17:28Speaker 3: Greg.
- 17:30Speaker 4: Also upcoming good stuff, coming attractions. That's what's called coming attractions.
- 17:35Speaker 4: We'll be covering a great film called Galaxy Quest next week.
- 17:39Speaker 3: I watched it this very day.
- 17:40Speaker 4: Check it out. Fun right, pretty fun. Don't say we
- 17:44Speaker 4: can't possibly, no, I won't save it for the pop
- 17:48Speaker 4: But yeah, Galaxy Quest next week, So check it out
- 17:51Speaker 4: right now. But first listen to the rest of this one.
- 17:55Speaker 4: We are here today to talk about a little film
- 17:58Speaker 4: called Interstellar. Uh, and we decided we had to get
- 18:02Speaker 4: to a stellar guess.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes.
- 18:07Speaker 5: I thought you're gonna say, two interns. I didn't know
- 18:10Speaker 5: what two inter people.
- 18:12Speaker 4: I don't know, but they are both stellar. They are
- 18:15Speaker 4: stars in the universe that is our friends. We can't
- 18:18Speaker 4: wait to have them on. I think they well, for
- 18:22Speaker 4: sure one of them has been on, but the other one,
- 18:24Speaker 4: for sure, I don't know why.
- 18:25Speaker 3: The other one has been on A movie game night,
- 18:27Speaker 3: but never on an episode too.
- 18:31Speaker 4: It was so fun anyway, without further ado, please give
- 18:34Speaker 4: it up for Jenica Faust and Darryl Marrier.
- 18:39Speaker 3: What's up, guys, that's you.
- 18:41Speaker 4: You guys are the guys.
- 18:44Speaker 5: Hello, say things over?
- 18:49Speaker 4: You could talk with us.
- 18:53Speaker 3: So glad to have you.
- 18:58Speaker 4: Go figure out a better ways.
- 19:00Speaker 1: An in your audience, I thought not to us.
- 19:03Speaker 4: Yeah, well let's say hello individually because I feel like
- 19:06Speaker 4: people are going to mix up these voices all night.
- 19:08Speaker 7: First up, Hi, Hi, guys, I'm so happy, are.
- 19:15Speaker 6: So good, I'm so excited.
- 19:17Speaker 4: Oh, we're excited to have you about a great film
- 19:21Speaker 4: that I think you like. But we'll learn more about
- 19:23Speaker 4: that later. Thanks for joining us.
- 19:26Speaker 3: And Darryl.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Hello, my voice, How are you doing very well? As
- 19:33Speaker 1: you can see the serious thrilled about that missing the game?
- 19:38Speaker 1: No big deal, big, no big deal.
- 19:40Speaker 4: He's really being a true birds.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Fine, it's fine, no big deal. Slam slam baby.
- 19:51Speaker 4: But you know, with this movie time being, you know,
- 19:55Speaker 4: the flipsy flopsy. You know, maybe this is what gets
- 19:57Speaker 4: you a win. Maybe in the future you I have
- 20:00Speaker 4: won the title by now, who knows?
- 20:02Speaker 1: You can feel it? How are you? By the way,
- 20:05Speaker 1: nice to see you.
- 20:07Speaker 6: So good to see you, Darryl.
- 20:08Speaker 7: I think it's so many.
- 20:10Speaker 6: I think it's actually been a few years since I've
- 20:12Speaker 6: seen you.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I think it has.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Actually we just talked serious, I think.
- 20:20Speaker 6: So, yeah, let's just catch up, y'all.
- 20:25Speaker 4: I'm glad.
- 20:26Speaker 6: I'm in Nashville. Where are you?
- 20:30Speaker 1: When did you move there? I'm in I'm in Sconing
- 20:34Speaker 1: up here, the big scone still so yeah, oh god,
- 20:40Speaker 1: I just couldn't be better. I'm on a podcast. I'm
- 20:42Speaker 1: doing podcasts now, so yeah, everything's changed now.
- 20:47Speaker 4: You guys were once in a band together, I believe.
- 20:49Speaker 4: Is that correct?
- 20:50Speaker 1: That's correct?
- 20:50Speaker 6: Yeah, get kicked out though.
- 20:53Speaker 4: So this is the awkward conversation you all here.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Tell you why you guys have.
- 21:02Speaker 5: That?
- 21:04Speaker 4: No, it's actually this isn't a movie podcast. We just
- 21:07Speaker 4: bring bands up, the break up on the podcast. The
- 21:11Speaker 4: immediate Well.
- 21:12Speaker 1: I've been wanting.
- 21:13Speaker 4: It's called going our separate ways and break up.
- 21:19Speaker 1: No open ended invitation always always well, you of course.
- 21:22Speaker 4: Think, yeah, what's that band? Rosewater? A different band.
- 21:28Speaker 1: That's us and continues to be us.
- 21:31Speaker 4: So, Jennico, will you be at the gig November eighth,
- 21:34Speaker 4: which I believe is tomorrow as people are hearing this,
- 21:37Speaker 4: it's the Poplo Center in Uh. Where did you say,
- 21:40Speaker 4: Oh Claire, Oh.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Claire, Wisconsin. Beautiful? Oh Claire, Wisconsin.
- 21:45Speaker 4: Love that, guess can go support it. It's a Veterans Fest, Wisconsin,
- 21:49Speaker 4: do it.
- 21:49Speaker 3: They're awesome.
- 21:51Speaker 4: I missed Veterans Fest this year and it made me sad.
- 21:54Speaker 7: But well, I was in Minnesota.
- 21:59Speaker 4: I know, my niece turned eighteen. We had a whole
- 22:02Speaker 4: big thing. It was great. I don't regret being there.
- 22:05Speaker 4: I regret her being born that day a little bit.
- 22:08Speaker 4: Other than that, I.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Think they could have done both. I think they could
- 22:11Speaker 1: have done both that songs.
- 22:12Speaker 4: I didn't see you in Duluth after that, girl and
- 22:15Speaker 4: we got to hang out and we had a nice little,
- 22:18Speaker 4: uh little mystery Science theater as we watched the boys say.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Yes yes, we were.
- 22:29Speaker 3: So psitive about you that I bet I do want
- 22:33Speaker 3: to say.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Quickly before I speak over and you one see how
- 22:35Speaker 1: I jumped in there to take care of that. Wasn't
- 22:37Speaker 1: that good? Rab I do appreciate you playing it. Wow, Hell,
- 22:42Speaker 1: I do appreciate you playing that's the way. That was
- 22:45Speaker 1: a big deal. So it was fun to see you
- 22:48Speaker 1: guys up there. It was a thrill, So I thought
- 22:50Speaker 1: that show was just fantastic.
- 22:52Speaker 5: I hope we get to keep doing it. That was
- 22:54Speaker 5: a that was a blast at times.
- 22:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I hope it wasn't successful only because I wasn't there.
- 23:00Speaker 4: I mean, that's my truly narcissistic take. So we'll see.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll find out it didn't go well at all
- 23:07Speaker 1: Without you.
- 23:08Speaker 3: It's not terrible, I thought so.
- 23:10Speaker 4: I thought so for sure it was less fun. No,
- 23:12Speaker 4: I don't know. Um anyway, go check out Rosewater November eighth,
- 23:18Speaker 4: do it at the Pablo Center Veterans Fest, Wisconsin. You
- 23:22Speaker 4: can find himfo online.
- 23:24Speaker 1: I'm sure this out there.
- 23:25Speaker 4: We're pretty scream into the wind and the winds will
- 23:29Speaker 4: call back. You'll find a ghost that will come tell
- 23:31Speaker 4: you where you need to be with coordinates.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Yeah, we're pretty bad at social media, so we we
- 23:37Speaker 1: won't find a whole lot, but it's out there.
- 23:38Speaker 4: Broke me too, I hear it, thoughts.
- 23:42Speaker 5: I was liking where you're going with.
- 23:44Speaker 4: That though, it was nae. Thanks, thanks, we tried. We try.
- 23:49Speaker 4: We are here to talk about a fabulous little film
- 23:51Speaker 4: called The Interstellar from the year twenty fourteen. Whoa amazing
- 23:57Speaker 4: It's only ten years old. It feels older than than
- 24:00Speaker 4: that somehow to me, I don't know older.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just as.
- 24:04Speaker 4: If time is relative anyway. Well, you get it started
- 24:09Speaker 4: with just a rough SYNOPSI sure.
- 24:12Speaker 5: In Earth's future, a global crop blight and second dust
- 24:17Speaker 5: bowl are slowly rendering the planet uninhabitable.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Professor Brand, a brilliant NASA physicist.
- 24:25Speaker 5: Is working on plans to save mankind by transporting Earth's
- 24:28Speaker 5: population to a new home via a wormhole. But first
- 24:32Speaker 5: Brand must send former NASA pilot Cooper and a team
- 24:35Speaker 5: of researchers through the wormhole and across the galaxy to
- 24:39Speaker 5: find out which of three planets could be Mankind's new home.
- 24:46Speaker 4: Finish, are you okay?
- 24:48Speaker 3: Global crop blight? It was like, what's happening there?
- 24:53Speaker 4: You're always so good at it.
- 24:58Speaker 3: Really, that was called the It was a blight.
- 25:02Speaker 4: The light is a specific kind of thing that happens
- 25:05Speaker 4: to plants.
- 25:06Speaker 5: Cool that you watch the I did watch it, Okay.
- 25:10Speaker 3: I didn't hear the.
- 25:11Speaker 5: Word blight, and then I saw it, and I was like,
- 25:13Speaker 5: I don't know if I'm saying this right. I've never
- 25:15Speaker 5: seen that word six times six times, Okay, So maybe.
- 25:21Speaker 1: What I was doing drinking game. New Drinking.
- 25:23Speaker 4: You did great drinking, but the Old Apocalypse drinking game.
- 25:34Speaker 4: All right, this is going well, let's go to Blighted Tomatoes.
- 25:40Speaker 4: Now not rotten, but okay, that a pretty solid actually
- 25:50Speaker 4: very low in my estimation, seventy three percent.
- 25:56Speaker 1: That up. That's crazy, it's bizarre.
- 25:59Speaker 4: I don't.
- 26:00Speaker 5: I bet this was critically beloved too.
- 26:05Speaker 4: Blight on them. Audience members though, had it up at
- 26:07Speaker 4: eighty six percent. So I kind of agree. And I
- 26:14Speaker 4: think it's time for us to talk about what we
- 26:16Speaker 4: think of it. It's time for our hot take.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Ouch, that's a hot take.
- 26:24Speaker 3: That's a hot take.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Flames that wasn't that good?
- 26:29Speaker 4: Space is hot when you enter your atmosphere. Space is
- 26:32Speaker 4: actually quite cold when you enter an atmosphere friction. I'll
- 26:36Speaker 4: go first. I really like this movie a lot. I
- 26:39Speaker 4: have to admit something. The first time I watched it,
- 26:42Speaker 4: I liked it. I didn't love this movie, and I
- 26:46Speaker 4: think the reason is I I picked up on the
- 26:51Speaker 4: twist immediately, like immediately, I was like, oh, I bet
- 26:55Speaker 4: it's this and that's what happened. And for some reason
- 26:57Speaker 4: that just clicked. It's not because I'm smart, because we've
- 27:01Speaker 4: as everyone has learned so far that's not the case. God, God,
- 27:06Speaker 4: no broken clock and all that. But yes, so I
- 27:10Speaker 4: didn't love it at first. I now, upon rewatching it,
- 27:16Speaker 4: I think this might be a perfect film. Like it
- 27:19Speaker 4: is amazing. It's really well put together. It's like super
- 27:24Speaker 4: serious and deep without taking itself too seriously somehow at
- 27:29Speaker 4: the same time, because there's like some comedy stuff that's
- 27:31Speaker 4: happening in it. The score is beyond beautiful, which I
- 27:35Speaker 4: know we'll talk about throughout this and you know in
- 27:38Speaker 4: our draft as well. It's what prompted that whole discussion.
- 27:42Speaker 4: But the usage of the like reoccurring same note with
- 27:46Speaker 4: things around it, changing the whole concept of like love
- 27:50Speaker 4: being this driving force for all of creation basically was
- 27:54Speaker 4: super cool and I really liked it. Yeah, I just
- 27:58Speaker 4: really really love this film. I think it's super well
- 28:01Speaker 4: put together, it's beautiful, it's super inventive, and the story
- 28:06Speaker 4: is wild and weird. I loved the usage of the
- 28:09Speaker 4: interviews that they had to make it feel very grounded.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I love that.
- 28:13Speaker 4: That was really cool. I didn't realize until this time
- 28:17Speaker 4: that that was Murph saying that talking about her father.
- 28:22Speaker 4: I didn't I didn't connect that before until this rewatch,
- 28:26Speaker 4: and just the like this movie is a huge like
- 28:30Speaker 4: mine obviously in so many ways, but the cyclical nature
- 28:34Speaker 4: of love and the future and past, and you know,
- 28:38Speaker 4: father and daughter dynamics are just really parent child dynamics,
- 28:42Speaker 4: and you know, all these things I think are just
- 28:45Speaker 4: really beautifully done in this And I just love the
- 28:48Speaker 4: beauty of the sort of that blind faith kind of
- 28:51Speaker 4: thing of just like we're gonna figure it out because
- 28:53Speaker 4: we have to figure it out. I just think it's
- 28:54Speaker 4: super well done. I think it's beautiful. I know everyone's
- 28:58Speaker 4: going to have other stuff, so all shut up. But
- 29:00Speaker 4: my my hottest take, oh hot take, Cooper was right.
- 29:05Speaker 4: He said the next time we'll see each other, we
- 29:06Speaker 4: could both be the same age, And when he sees
- 29:09Speaker 4: Murph through the bookcase, they are exactly the same age.
- 29:14Speaker 4: And that's because that's when she is like, that's my dad,
- 29:18Speaker 4: and she has like the Eureka moment of well not
- 29:21Speaker 4: the actual Eureka moment, but the moment where she's like
- 29:23Speaker 4: it was him the whole time, and then like starts
- 29:26Speaker 4: figuring out, you know, the Morse code and all that stuff.
- 29:28Speaker 4: That's the first time she sees him again. And they
- 29:30Speaker 4: are the same age at that point, and I thought
- 29:32Speaker 4: that was really cool. Wow, and it was kind of
- 29:35Speaker 4: hard to have a hot take. So that's my hottest take.
- 29:37Speaker 5: I thought you were going to say that you thought
- 29:39Speaker 5: Ellen Burston looked like she was one hundred and twenty
- 29:42Speaker 5: four years.
- 29:42Speaker 3: Old and they were the same age.
- 29:46Speaker 5: That's what I thought you were saying that she.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Knew hot take.
- 29:51Speaker 3: Somebody creams we can use what's happening?
- 29:54Speaker 4: Yeah, we don't know how you know uv Ray's work
- 29:58Speaker 4: in space without fiatmas fear it's fine.
- 30:01Speaker 5: Hot take, buddy.
- 30:05Speaker 4: So it was.
- 30:05Speaker 5: Interesting because I also when I first saw it, it
- 30:09Speaker 5: wasn't like my favorite movie ever. But the reason was
- 30:14Speaker 5: was because I had that whole thing of people seeing
- 30:17Speaker 5: it and telling me it's the best movie I've ever seen.
- 30:20Speaker 5: My expectations were so high that when I saw it,
- 30:25Speaker 5: I was like, yeah, I mean it's good.
- 30:28Speaker 3: So I do bad with that.
- 30:30Speaker 5: I do really bad when I get in there with
- 30:32Speaker 5: high expectations. And I don't fault whoever went on and
- 30:38Speaker 5: on about it, because it's definitely a movie to go
- 30:40Speaker 5: on and on about, but I just don't do well
- 30:43Speaker 5: in that scenario, that being what's that you.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Should fault them for that. They shouldn't. I'm going they
- 30:48Speaker 1: shouldn't be doing that.
- 30:50Speaker 5: You shouldn't do that, you know me. But that being said,
- 30:54Speaker 5: after rewatching this, it's undeniably an amazing film. I amd
- 31:00Speaker 5: be top two fifty. It's number nineteen. It's a sandwich
- 31:05Speaker 5: between One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest at eighteen and
- 31:08Speaker 5: seven at twenty. It was nominated for five Oscars for
- 31:13Speaker 5: Best Score, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing, Production Design,
- 31:17Speaker 5: and it won for Best Visual Effects. It's written by
- 31:21Speaker 5: Jonathan Nolan and co written and directed by the brilliant
- 31:24Speaker 5: Christopher Nolan.
- 31:25Speaker 3: He takes some really.
- 31:26Speaker 5: Complicated ideas and tries to make it consumable for folks,
- 31:31Speaker 5: even the not smart ones such as me, but not
- 31:34Speaker 5: dumbing it down like and still making people have like
- 31:38Speaker 5: to think for themselves. Yeah, I think he's really good
- 31:41Speaker 5: at that. The cast is awesome, filled with Oscar winners
- 31:45Speaker 5: and Oscar nominated actors. It's a great cast. The music,
- 31:49Speaker 5: like you said, is gorgeous. Crazy that it didn't win
- 31:53Speaker 5: an Oscar. It got beat out by Graham Budapest Hotel.
- 31:56Speaker 1: I saw Wow.
- 32:00Speaker 5: Photography Hoyt Van Houtem is incredible, especially like the wormhole scenes,
- 32:07Speaker 5: the cornfield chasing of the drone was incredible, super cool.
- 32:11Speaker 5: All this stuff on Man's Planet was beautiful. Yeah, beautiful movie.
- 32:16Speaker 5: Glad I'm able to appreciate it more now.
- 32:19Speaker 3: My hot take.
- 32:20Speaker 5: I remember one qualm I had with it back when
- 32:23Speaker 5: I watched it the first time is that I felt
- 32:27Speaker 5: like they shoehorned the like love is the only thing
- 32:30Speaker 5: that transcends time and space to the point where, like
- 32:35Speaker 5: when Anne Hathaway is doing it, I didn't super believe it,
- 32:40Speaker 5: And I think one of the reasons was because, like
- 32:42Speaker 5: we didn't have any of her backstory with Edmunds and stuff.
- 32:48Speaker 5: And I don't think she did a bad job saying
- 32:51Speaker 5: that line, like she was acting great, but it felt
- 32:55Speaker 5: misplaced or something. I just didn't super believe it, where
- 33:00Speaker 5: I totally believed, you know, McConaughey with his kids and
- 33:04Speaker 5: all that kind of love, but I wasn't feeling it there.
- 33:07Speaker 4: So yeah, I kind of wish they would have done
- 33:09Speaker 4: it with her and her dad too, to like also
- 33:12Speaker 4: have that father daughter relationship, you know, from a different
- 33:16Speaker 4: lens or something.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Yeahah, I get that one.
- 33:18Speaker 5: More qualm, Yes, I felt like Tom got completely forgotten about,
- 33:25Speaker 5: Like did Cooper even ask about his son when he
- 33:28Speaker 5: got back?
- 33:30Speaker 3: Like that seemed weird. It was all about Murph. You
- 33:32Speaker 3: just like forget you forget about his son.
- 33:36Speaker 1: He doesn't even say a thing about it.
- 33:38Speaker 4: I mean, Tom suck.
- 33:41Speaker 8: Well.
- 33:42Speaker 6: I watched a thing last night.
- 33:43Speaker 8: There's this guy that has a YouTube channel that does
- 33:46Speaker 8: like breakdowns and everything, and he speculated out that and
- 33:50Speaker 8: he was saying that he thinks that Tom was essentially
- 33:53Speaker 8: kind of replaced, like in Cooper's life, by Tars, and Tars.
- 33:58Speaker 6: Became, oh, his like drobot son.
- 34:01Speaker 8: Yeah, because he started to call he called Tom slick
- 34:05Speaker 8: and then he called Tars slick and like he did
- 34:09Speaker 8: all these comparisons or he was like, essentially the son
- 34:13Speaker 8: was kind of replaced by Tars.
- 34:15Speaker 6: He had this fatherso dynamic, which I thought was interesting
- 34:17Speaker 6: and kind of messed up. That is interesting, but like,
- 34:21Speaker 6: but I'm not a parent, so I don't know.
- 34:23Speaker 9: Maybe maybe it was shocking to me that we just
- 34:28Speaker 9: completely don't ever hear about it again after the you know,
- 34:32Speaker 9: after Jessica Chastain burns the crop.
- 34:36Speaker 5: And like makes him get away, it makes the family
- 34:40Speaker 5: get away from him.
- 34:41Speaker 1: I feel like maybe it's weird. Then maybe they left
- 34:43Speaker 1: some of that for kind of off screen. I don't
- 34:46Speaker 1: know if it's kind of building to a conclusion at
- 34:48Speaker 1: that point or something to be hard to kind from
- 34:50Speaker 1: a story maybe script standpoint, perhaps kind of presumably.
- 34:55Speaker 4: He died like much earlier than her because he was
- 35:01Speaker 4: in the dust storms and stuff, you know, like with
- 35:03Speaker 4: the kids having long issues and stuff. Tom probably didn't
- 35:06Speaker 4: fair great, sure, but.
- 35:08Speaker 5: Just said two seconds of dialogue, he stayed at the farm,
- 35:14Speaker 5: he was going to farm forever, and he's not here anymore.
- 35:18Speaker 5: Just something would have been that's that's just a little
- 35:22Speaker 5: little nitpick.
- 35:23Speaker 1: I get there, man, I get you.
- 35:26Speaker 5: It's like a hot take, buddy, hot take Hot What
- 35:31Speaker 5: did you think of this film?
- 35:34Speaker 6: I love this film.
- 35:35Speaker 8: It's really different experiencing it in my thirties than like
- 35:38Speaker 8: in my early twenties, Like agreed, you know, just like
- 35:42Speaker 8: I think also too, with the state of the world
- 35:45Speaker 8: maybe being being a little bit more aware of it,
- 35:47Speaker 8: it feels it felt a lot more real, just like this.
- 35:52Speaker 6: Yeah, so that felt a little bit more dire and sure.
- 35:56Speaker 6: Also just I couldn't stop crying the whole time.
- 35:59Speaker 8: I just just cried the whole time, like a father
- 36:04Speaker 8: having to leave his kid and they've already lost their mom.
- 36:07Speaker 6: And I, yeah, so I love this film. I love
- 36:11Speaker 6: the score so much.
- 36:12Speaker 8: I mean, most of what Christopher Nolan touches turns to
- 36:16Speaker 8: gold in my opinion, except for Tenant, which is dash agreed.
- 36:19Speaker 3: But I'm with you. Yeah, I didn't like it.
- 36:25Speaker 6: I love and I love the Yeah, I really like
- 36:27Speaker 6: the science.
- 36:28Speaker 8: I think they did a really good job explaining it
- 36:30Speaker 8: to people who aren't really sciencey, like myself.
- 36:34Speaker 6: A couple of hot takes.
- 36:35Speaker 8: I wish that there would have been more character development.
- 36:38Speaker 8: I would have watched a three and a half hour
- 36:39Speaker 8: long film to.
- 36:40Speaker 6: Get more backstory on characters and relationships.
- 36:43Speaker 8: And sure, because I remember just like wanting, like you
- 36:47Speaker 8: were saying, I was wanting to know more about Amelia's relationship,
- 36:51Speaker 8: and I was wanting to know like how how you
- 36:55Speaker 8: know how Jessica Chastain and her partner's relationships maybe developed
- 36:59Speaker 8: or Yeah, I found myself this time in my thirties
- 37:03Speaker 8: wanting to know more about the people's stories rather than
- 37:05Speaker 8: just like the space scenes. Sure, and yeah, they like
- 37:10Speaker 8: they it also moved so fast, like Jessica Chastain like hugging.
- 37:16Speaker 8: Hugging her brother right at the end felt like sort
- 37:19Speaker 8: of a Batman versus Superman moment, Like all of a sudden,
- 37:22Speaker 8: they're just hugging and I'm like.
- 37:23Speaker 6: Isn't he so mad?
- 37:25Speaker 8: The field is on fire and they're piling his kids
- 37:27Speaker 8: into the car Like that felt a little bit.
- 37:29Speaker 6: Maybe it's like forced through.
- 37:34Speaker 8: And then another my final qualm about most Nolan films
- 37:38Speaker 8: is I can't always hear anything, Like I had to
- 37:41Speaker 8: turn the subtitles on, and why does he always put
- 37:43Speaker 8: his protagonists in helmets and masks?
- 37:46Speaker 1: It's realistic, Okay, we can hear everything character.
- 37:51Speaker 6: Saying what all the time, though.
- 37:55Speaker 7: I minded so many times.
- 37:57Speaker 4: Yes he's a big whisper too, like.
- 38:00Speaker 7: Yes and then in a helmet.
- 38:02Speaker 8: So that's like always my biggest beef with these Nomal films.
- 38:06Speaker 8: It's like I can't hear what you're saying over this big,
- 38:10Speaker 8: beautiful sound design, but I can't.
- 38:12Speaker 6: Hear the dialogue.
- 38:14Speaker 8: Yeah, I love this film so much, though, I just
- 38:18Speaker 8: I love I love Han Zimmer and and just the CG.
- 38:23Speaker 8: I was like, The Black Hole was incredible, nuts and
- 38:29Speaker 8: I think it really does a good job at capturing
- 38:31Speaker 8: the magnitude of space in a way that space movies don't,
- 38:35Speaker 8: Like you really get a sense that you're like, oh God,
- 38:37Speaker 8: you are so far from home right now, You're so
- 38:40Speaker 8: so far away them spinning off and seeing the Earth
- 38:44Speaker 8: get smaller and smaller, and you're just like, Wow, they
- 38:46Speaker 8: are so screwed.
- 38:48Speaker 6: If anything happens. I think that and maybe like Gravity
- 38:52Speaker 6: really did it for me.
- 38:53Speaker 8: And I think those two movies came out in the
- 38:55Speaker 8: same summer, right, Gravity and Interstellar.
- 39:00Speaker 3: Close.
- 39:01Speaker 6: I just remember like being afraid of like a new
- 39:04Speaker 6: fear sort of being unlocked.
- 39:06Speaker 3: Yeah, Gravity was thirteen.
- 39:08Speaker 8: So it was before Okay, maybe I watched them in
- 39:12Speaker 8: the same summer anyway, Yeah, that's my take.
- 39:15Speaker 5: Take.
- 39:16Speaker 1: It's good, it's really hot. That's the hot and so far.
- 39:20Speaker 1: I think, boy Jenic, I think you maybe missed it
- 39:23Speaker 1: with that hug at the end. I thought I thought
- 39:26Speaker 1: it was well timed. I thought there's a hot take
- 39:28Speaker 1: to your hot take. How about that oh.
- 39:32Speaker 4: Take?
- 39:33Speaker 1: I think I just think when when that moment happened
- 39:39Speaker 1: and she realized that he was the one, he was
- 39:43Speaker 1: the ghost and he was in the watch and she
- 39:45Speaker 1: was trying to explain to him that he did come back.
- 39:47Speaker 1: It was kind of a unifying moment. So I found
- 39:49Speaker 1: it to be just right, just right. But I just
- 39:54Speaker 1: find this film to be well, it's one of my favorites.
- 39:58Speaker 1: I think it's nice, one of the greats, and be
- 40:00Speaker 1: reflected as such. I believe the score is a little low,
- 40:03Speaker 1: but maybe it was kind of beyond people at the
- 40:05Speaker 1: time a little bit. I mean, if there's kind of
- 40:08Speaker 1: problems with the movie, I think it's maybe something the
- 40:11Speaker 1: audience is bringing to the movie and not the movie itself.
- 40:13Speaker 1: I don't know, but sure, but I just kind of
- 40:16Speaker 1: figured by by any metric it kind of succeeds, you know.
- 40:20Speaker 1: You think, from the technical side to the to kind
- 40:23Speaker 1: of the ambition of the story, to the star power,
- 40:26Speaker 1: to the score. It's just when you get all those
- 40:28Speaker 1: elements working together, it's kind of hard to ignore, I guess.
- 40:31Speaker 1: But as far as my in my time, Noan Nolan
- 40:36Speaker 1: as it were, I I recall there's not a lot
- 40:40Speaker 1: of sorry a little inside here, I'm sorry, but but
- 40:47Speaker 1: there's not many filmmakers that I know of that I've
- 40:49Speaker 1: been able to follow since they started, you know, and
- 40:53Speaker 1: and can watch them kind of grow and discover their voice.
- 40:56Speaker 1: This might be true for you, Rob and maybe you Vugs,
- 40:59Speaker 1: but Jenn, I'm pretty sure was probably two years old
- 41:02Speaker 1: or maybe still a gleam in Trisha's eye. But uh,
- 41:07Speaker 1: but in two in two thousand, Memento came out and
- 41:13Speaker 1: I went to see that in the theater, and Christopher
- 41:16Speaker 1: Nolan was making pretty pretty small movies at that point.
- 41:19Speaker 1: That's a pretty low key, low budget, you know, raw movie.
- 41:22Speaker 1: So it was about that time we started realizing that,
- 41:25Speaker 1: you know, maybe someone the gray was coming. But around
- 41:28Speaker 1: the time of Insomnia, you could kind of see his
- 41:31Speaker 1: you know, his eye developing, his eye for detail, and
- 41:35Speaker 1: so you started to see what he what he would become,
- 41:38Speaker 1: you know. And then obviously with with the you know,
- 41:40Speaker 1: instead of onset of Batman and all these movies, you
- 41:43Speaker 1: just saw him every movie leveled up. It got bigger
- 41:46Speaker 1: and bigger and bigger, and you thought, it's not possible
- 41:49Speaker 1: to get any bigger than this, you know, like every
- 41:51Speaker 1: Batman movie was was bigger. And then in between the
- 41:54Speaker 1: Batman movies would be Batman Batman movies that you see them,
- 42:01Speaker 1: But in between the Batman movies, he would do like
- 42:03Speaker 1: a you know, a project for him. It's kind of
- 42:05Speaker 1: the old director's story, one for the studio, one for me.
- 42:09Speaker 1: But in all those stories, all those movies, everyone got
- 42:12Speaker 1: more ambitious. It got bigger in scope and philosophy, and
- 42:16Speaker 1: it was it was really exciting to watch, so to
- 42:19Speaker 1: kind of he's one of the few directors that I
- 42:21Speaker 1: know of that I've been able to see from the
- 42:22Speaker 1: start and watch from the beginning. You know, usually you're
- 42:24Speaker 1: reaching back into their old catalog. But I guess a
- 42:28Speaker 1: lot of the I guess a lot of the background
- 42:30Speaker 1: of this movie is interesting to me too. You got
- 42:33Speaker 1: McConaughey coming off of his kind of rom com run
- 42:36Speaker 1: there and so he had he had slowly built his
- 42:41Speaker 1: way up to this from you know, I think what
- 42:44Speaker 1: was it Lincoln Lawyer or was the one that kind
- 42:46Speaker 1: of put him back on the path, and he got
- 42:49Speaker 1: rust and Cole in there. He fit him in there too.
- 42:51Speaker 1: But you kind of this is like post rustin you know,
- 42:53Speaker 1: where he's just at the height of his power here,
- 42:55Speaker 1: and so you get that McConaughey. You mentioned hoy Ben Hoyts. Yes,
- 43:01Speaker 1: this was the first time that he worked with him
- 43:04Speaker 1: too on this movie. He had worked he'd worked with
- 43:07Speaker 1: a cinematographer called Wally Fister for a bunch of movies
- 43:12Speaker 1: before that. So in a lot of ways, this movie
- 43:14Speaker 1: was kind of a transition for Nolan too. I think
- 43:16Speaker 1: he's working with new crew. You mentioned the score of
- 43:20Speaker 1: Two Bugs. I'm just tying all the threads together here,
- 43:23Speaker 1: you know, just just but Hans Zimmer's score. He had
- 43:30Speaker 1: basically started from scratch with Zimmer and asked him to
- 43:33Speaker 1: reinvent the Zimmer wheel in a way too. And you know,
- 43:37Speaker 1: you know, what Zimmer got known for was the big
- 43:39Speaker 1: boomy scores of the nineties.
- 43:41Speaker 10: Or whatever, you know, just as loud as possible, I
- 43:44Speaker 10: want to melt their faces off, and so and that's
- 43:47Speaker 10: that continued, you know, through a lot of the Nolan
- 43:49Speaker 10: catalog too, but it was you know, some of the
- 43:52Speaker 10: Inception stuff as well, and the Batman movies obviously with
- 43:56Speaker 10: all the yeah, the Dark Knight, the.
- 43:58Speaker 1: Big Bois they called it, or whatever, those big horn blasts.
- 44:02Speaker 6: You know.
- 44:03Speaker 1: And so so with this one, he was asking you know,
- 44:06Speaker 1: Zimmer to reinvent his style as well, which was pretty cool.
- 44:10Speaker 1: And what we got was one of the great scores
- 44:12Speaker 1: I think too. So that's part of that metric I'm
- 44:15Speaker 1: talking about it's like every every possible you know, thing
- 44:19Speaker 1: you can measure it by succeeds in. I'm really surprised
- 44:22Speaker 1: to hear the seventy three percent. That blows my mind
- 44:25Speaker 1: a little bit. I'm surprised to hear the eighty six percent,
- 44:28Speaker 1: honestly from from fans as well. But the great I
- 44:33Speaker 1: think the trick of this, kind of the magic of
- 44:34Speaker 1: it is somebody mentioned the dust bowl footage, and I
- 44:39Speaker 1: might be stealing some of your trivia stuff, but those
- 44:42Speaker 1: were actual scenes from ken Burn's dustbel thing. That's probably
- 44:47Speaker 1: something you wanted to use later. I bet.
- 44:49Speaker 4: Oh it's cool they come up. Man, the idea so brilliant.
- 44:54Speaker 1: The idea of rooting the story in actual history, right
- 44:57Speaker 1: that if not necessarily experienced, but that we know so
- 45:00Speaker 1: well that we almost feel like we could have experienced,
- 45:03Speaker 1: is what allows him to build kind of the unbelievable,
- 45:08Speaker 1: if you will, there's a better word for that, I'm sure,
- 45:10Speaker 1: but he's able to build all of that story on
- 45:13Speaker 1: top of that because we're already rooted in that reality. Unfortunately, also,
- 45:17Speaker 1: it's potentially the story of our future as well. As
- 45:22Speaker 1: Jenica mentioned, I mean, as good as we are, as
- 45:26Speaker 1: as you know, mankind to kind of reach for the stars.
- 45:30Speaker 1: We're also pretty good at, you know, not taking care
- 45:32Speaker 1: of what we have, right, So so I think it's
- 45:35Speaker 1: also a story of the future and people feel that,
- 45:37Speaker 1: and I think that's a big part of why this
- 45:39Speaker 1: movie connects too on so many levels. It's kind of
- 45:42Speaker 1: we kind of see where we're headed. And I had
- 45:44Speaker 1: I did have a moment, I guess when I did
- 45:49Speaker 1: struggle with that scene in with Coop and Murph, you know,
- 45:54Speaker 1: when he's about to leave for that's a scene that
- 45:57Speaker 1: that kills me. It gets me pretty pretty badly every time,
- 46:00Speaker 1: and it's a scene that stays with me actually quite often,
- 46:02Speaker 1: I think a lot cinematically, so movie scenes come back
- 46:06Speaker 1: to me a lot because I watch a lot of movies,
- 46:09Speaker 1: but that scene is constantly, you know, in my head.
- 46:12Speaker 1: And I had a different kind of feeling on that
- 46:14Speaker 1: one this time, because I've seen this movie probably, you know,
- 46:17Speaker 1: and eight to ten times probably, I watch it pretty often.
- 46:22Speaker 1: I really love it. But when I was watching him
- 46:24Speaker 1: sit with her and kind of disregard her, you know,
- 46:27Speaker 1: and not listen to what she was saying, and obviously,
- 46:31Speaker 1: you know, he the plot demands that he doesn't. But
- 46:34Speaker 1: I was just thinking, in this most important, like it's
- 46:38Speaker 1: the most important possible time, that you would should be
- 46:40Speaker 1: present with her because you're about to live for as
- 46:43Speaker 1: long as you have no idea how long you be gone.
- 46:46Speaker 1: And just kind of seeing how bitter he was in
- 46:48Speaker 1: the beginning of the movie too, and like working through
- 46:51Speaker 1: that because of his station in life and what you know,
- 46:54Speaker 1: had come his way. It just kind of made me
- 46:57Speaker 1: think and still makes me think about kind of being
- 47:00Speaker 1: more present in the moment.
- 47:01Speaker 3: In a way.
- 47:02Speaker 1: It's like, we don't always appreciate what we have here
- 47:06Speaker 1: and now, you know, And part of me wonders if
- 47:09Speaker 1: that's not part of the lesson is is well we
- 47:11Speaker 1: want to solve everything and fix it. Maybe it's just
- 47:13Speaker 1: kind of appreciating the moments we have and what we
- 47:17Speaker 1: have around us and whatever may come from that. But
- 47:21Speaker 1: so that was a different feeling I had this time
- 47:23Speaker 1: watching it. But it's still just everything about it. It's
- 47:29Speaker 1: just kind of great.
- 47:30Speaker 3: Like it.
- 47:31Speaker 1: There's it's not lacking in any any any place. I'm
- 47:36Speaker 1: not the biggest Anne Hathaway fan, so I do struggle
- 47:39Speaker 1: with that, and I understand if the Rotten Tomatoes score
- 47:42Speaker 1: is solely based on her.
- 47:46Speaker 3: Yea, how take that?
- 47:48Speaker 1: But I found her to be way more believable than normal.
- 47:54Speaker 1: So that's got to be coming from Nolan and his toutelage,
- 47:57Speaker 1: if you will, words of the day toutelage. And but
- 48:02Speaker 1: I didn't. I wasn't too worried about the wolf. What's
- 48:06Speaker 1: his name? What wolf? What? What's his name? Edmunds?
- 48:11Speaker 4: Thank you?
- 48:14Speaker 1: I think that was kind of it was a little
- 48:16Speaker 1: bit of a plot device to keep them from that
- 48:18Speaker 1: planet a little bit, But I you know, I wasn't
- 48:22Speaker 1: too worried about that either. And I'm probably a little
- 48:24Speaker 1: biased to this movie because I love it so much.
- 48:26Speaker 1: The one hot take I do remember having at one
- 48:29Speaker 1: point was how many times they read that poem night
- 48:38Speaker 1: We get it, like we understand you know what you're
- 48:40Speaker 1: trying to say, you know, But I didn't. At this
- 48:42Speaker 1: time it wasn't as egregious, but previously I was just like,
- 48:46Speaker 1: good Lord, give him something else to say. There's other poems, Michael,
- 48:51Speaker 1: there's other poems.
- 48:54Speaker 5: Of dangerous minds, and that was in there.
- 48:58Speaker 4: That was its funny because they say that poem so much,
- 49:01Speaker 4: but then it's not the rage. It speaks to what
- 49:04Speaker 4: you said Darryl. I think, to me, the like main
- 49:07Speaker 4: story of this is, yes, he should have been more
- 49:10Speaker 4: present in that moment, but he didn't know that until
- 49:13Speaker 4: the future. And then it all leads to him going
- 49:17Speaker 4: to find her because there's a new moment to be in,
- 49:20Speaker 4: rather than regret all the time that he didn't get
- 49:23Speaker 4: with his daughter, the fact that she's going to die
- 49:25Speaker 4: before him, all these things, right, Like, Yeah, he's going
- 49:29Speaker 4: now to be in the moment with her, and it's
- 49:32Speaker 4: not raging against the night. It's actually embracing the moment,
- 49:35Speaker 4: I think, And I mean, I don't know if that's
- 49:38Speaker 4: what he's trying to say, but that's what I took
- 49:39Speaker 4: from it this.
- 49:40Speaker 1: Time specialists I like that a lot. Yeah, that's right.
- 49:43Speaker 1: I don't know money, So I guess, just in closing,
- 49:46Speaker 1: I guess. The great thing about Nolan, I think he's basically,
- 49:50Speaker 1: you know, from the start, at least if you've seen
- 49:53Speaker 1: everything he's done, he's basically an art house director, right,
- 49:56Speaker 1: So he's making indie art house movies and he's dressing
- 49:59Speaker 1: them in blockbusters. And it's that's the reason it works
- 50:02Speaker 1: for me so well, and it is every it is
- 50:04Speaker 1: every movie I agree except for Tennant, which was but that.
- 50:10Speaker 4: Was during the pandemic.
- 50:12Speaker 1: Anyway, to cut corners, yeah, maybe those are my thoughts.
- 50:15Speaker 1: So on its thank you, thank you.
- 50:18Speaker 3: That was great, super hot.
- 50:20Speaker 1: And Ellen Burston, I mean, come on, oh she looks
- 50:24Speaker 1: so what happened? So alright, p.
- 50:32Speaker 4: Well, let's go talk about our favorite acting performance. It's
- 50:35Speaker 4: time to name the dude the dude.
- 50:37Speaker 11: I'm the dude, so that's what you call me, you
- 50:40Speaker 11: know that, or his dude or duder or you know,
- 50:46Speaker 11: el dud reno if you're not into the whole brevity thing.
- 50:49Speaker 4: Sounds like Daryl wants to go first and pick Ann Hathaway,
- 50:51Speaker 4: So go ahead, Darryl.
- 50:52Speaker 1: Anne Hathaway is my dude, always, always my dude. No,
- 50:57Speaker 1: I mean I think it's pretty obvious here, and he's almost,
- 51:00Speaker 1: you know, he almost is the dude in a way.
- 51:03Speaker 5: He's a secondary version definitely taking that on for sure.
- 51:06Speaker 1: So I mean just his persona, you know, his real
- 51:09Speaker 1: life persona. So I think it's kind of me McConaughey personally.
- 51:12Speaker 1: I mean that that performance stands out above the rest.
- 51:16Speaker 4: I agreed, Is that what you had? Jenica?
- 51:20Speaker 8: Yeah, I want this version of Matthew McConaughey to be
- 51:23Speaker 8: my dad, and not like a kinky way, but just
- 51:26Speaker 8: like your.
- 51:27Speaker 4: Daddy or your dad, I said, I wanted.
- 51:37Speaker 8: Yeah, he's so if I had to have two dads,
- 51:40Speaker 8: I would want him to be my second dad because
- 51:42Speaker 8: he's just like so calm and knowledgeable and just like, yeah,
- 51:48Speaker 8: I love this moments.
- 51:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's great.
- 51:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 51:55Speaker 5: That that gift of him crying while watching twenty three
- 51:59Speaker 5: years of message that he missed. I mean, it's got
- 52:02Speaker 5: to be one of the most you.
- 52:03Speaker 4: Know how many times I receive that gift.
- 52:08Speaker 1: Receive it a lot, a lot.
- 52:12Speaker 3: He's a great crier though, very.
- 52:16Speaker 6: Realistic, very much.
- 52:19Speaker 5: Yes it's not yeah, and you couldn't understand him, but yes.
- 52:24Speaker 6: I knew it was happening.
- 52:26Speaker 5: Speak up.
- 52:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm still dying over that.
- 52:34Speaker 5: That's so good.
- 52:42Speaker 4: I mean, it's a clean sweep. The only thing I
- 52:45Speaker 4: put was just for the scene of reviewing the messages alone.
- 52:49Speaker 4: I give it to him because he also is crying
- 52:53Speaker 4: the whole time, but also has like all the emotions
- 52:57Speaker 4: of crying that we get right, because he's like, yes,
- 53:00Speaker 4: you know, heartbroken, he's proud, he's like all the things
- 53:04Speaker 4: like during that you know, like, yeah, I just think
- 53:06Speaker 4: it's beautiful and he's great in the rest of it too,
- 53:10Speaker 4: Like I I agree with Daryl, like he's kind of
- 53:13Speaker 4: mad at the beginning, right because like he could be
- 53:16Speaker 4: doing more, and then he has to deal with like
- 53:19Speaker 4: he really wants to go, you know, some part of
- 53:23Speaker 4: him really wants to go, and then some part of
- 53:25Speaker 4: him doesn't. Right, So I just think he conveys all
- 53:27Speaker 4: that super super well and he's just a He's just
- 53:30Speaker 4: a stun in this movie.
- 53:31Speaker 5: So absolutely yeah, clean, clean, sweet, really great cast. Though
- 53:38Speaker 5: let's uh, let's pick a supporting role. Let's pick the
- 53:41Speaker 5: Tucci Award, Jennicka you go for Yeah, you go first?
- 53:48Speaker 1: Please?
- 53:48Speaker 6: I chose Mackenzie Foy. I thought she was amazing.
- 53:53Speaker 7: She was really good.
- 53:54Speaker 8: ID sim relate to her too, just being a little girl,
- 53:57Speaker 8: and that's that is how I would react. And like
- 54:01Speaker 8: watching her right bust out the door chase after a dad,
- 54:05Speaker 8: and I don't know, I thought, especially for a kid,
- 54:09Speaker 8: and like watching them hold each other, and I don't know,
- 54:13Speaker 8: I'm thinking like they're complete strangers basically that I'm just
- 54:17Speaker 8: very impressed when kids can really act.
- 54:19Speaker 5: So don't give it to her, nice.
- 54:22Speaker 4: I think that's still face time from time to time
- 54:24Speaker 4: or something.
- 54:25Speaker 1: For me too. I know they do, they do, they do.
- 54:29Speaker 1: Thank you for saying I keep grunting. I keep grunting
- 54:32Speaker 1: approval over. I'm sorry, You're gonna have a lot on
- 54:34Speaker 1: that audio. I'm just doing it.
- 54:35Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, that's fine, I don't need to make more.
- 54:41Speaker 1: I can agree with that. But I would besides Anne Hathaway,
- 54:47Speaker 1: maybe the I would think a more America's former sweetheart
- 54:53Speaker 1: Matt Damon might be up for it as well. Hell yeah,
- 54:57Speaker 1: just for because he played against type so well. He
- 55:00Speaker 1: such a rat and he played that so well, and
- 55:03Speaker 1: you know it was an unexpected cameo. You know, you're
- 55:06Speaker 1: surprised to see him and then he's that. So I
- 55:09Speaker 1: thought that was that was pretty exciting. You know, my
- 55:12Speaker 1: my mom watched the movie. She still has a problem
- 55:15Speaker 1: with Matt Damon because.
- 55:16Speaker 12: Of this, because of that way she ever associated Yeah,
- 55:24Speaker 12: he really is a rat.
- 55:26Speaker 1: God. Every time I tell her that he's in a movie,
- 55:28Speaker 1: she's like, no, see that.
- 55:33Speaker 4: It's fun to me being able to rewatch it because
- 55:36Speaker 4: they like they show the pictures of the other people
- 55:38Speaker 4: who went on the initial things, but not his, which
- 55:41Speaker 4: I like, I never noticed that was so not shown.
- 55:45Speaker 4: I love that.
- 55:47Speaker 5: I also picked Matt Damon and I also remember being
- 55:50Speaker 5: shocked when it was Matt Damon coming out of the
- 55:52Speaker 5: sleeping chamber and just when he sees everyone's faces and
- 55:55Speaker 5: he just starts crying immediately, just like that was incredible. Yeah. Yeah,
- 56:02Speaker 5: when he when he is trying to kill Cooper and
- 56:05Speaker 5: Cooper is struggling to try and breathe, and when he's
- 56:08Speaker 5: trying to like calm him down, and his kids are
- 56:11Speaker 5: with him, just like you are, dialoglical monster you are.
- 56:18Speaker 6: I can't watch.
- 56:18Speaker 7: I actually can't do this.
- 56:20Speaker 1: I thought I could.
- 56:22Speaker 3: But I can't.
- 56:22Speaker 11: I could.
- 56:23Speaker 1: That was tough.
- 56:26Speaker 5: I thought he was pretty amazing in that limited role
- 56:29Speaker 5: though he was.
- 56:30Speaker 4: Yeah, the year before the market, so he did a
- 56:35Speaker 4: lot of space stuff right now.
- 56:36Speaker 8: Yeah yeah, what a what a like superstar to bring
- 56:41Speaker 8: out just for that much screen time.
- 56:45Speaker 6: I love that choice so much.
- 56:48Speaker 4: Totally with you guys on all of those.
- 56:52Speaker 1: Is going to be a surprise.
- 56:54Speaker 4: What do we got just to pick? I like Anne
- 56:57Speaker 4: Hathaway just but I mean ever since Princess Diary, whatever, I'm.
- 57:06Speaker 1: With her there. I'm okay with that.
- 57:08Speaker 4: But it liked her speech a lot about a lot
- 57:12Speaker 4: of things, but I can't believe it was Timothy Shalla May, Like, yeah,
- 57:20Speaker 4: I still can't believe that. Like, and this dude is
- 57:22Speaker 4: like a super duper star. Now that's so fun.
- 57:28Speaker 5: I saw a clip of him in an interview somewhere
- 57:32Speaker 5: where this was like his first big thing, and so
- 57:35Speaker 5: he was super excited. He went to the premiere, was
- 57:37Speaker 5: all excited, and he was so disappointed afterwards because he
- 57:41Speaker 5: was like, I was only in it for like two seconds,
- 57:45Speaker 5: remember me.
- 57:50Speaker 3: It worked out fine, he did well.
- 57:55Speaker 5: Uh.
- 57:56Speaker 4: David o' yellow oe is also in it for a
- 57:59Speaker 4: hot man and he's wonderful. I did not remember he
- 58:04Speaker 4: was in it at all.
- 58:05Speaker 7: The teacher, Yeah, he's.
- 58:07Speaker 4: The principal Princeville, principal principal guy. Yeah. I thought he
- 58:12Speaker 4: was really fun. And I loved John Licow as the grandpa,
- 58:17Speaker 4: especially the maternal grandpa, that like helped their relationship be
- 58:24Speaker 4: like a little bit icy still, which I thought was important. Yes,
- 58:29Speaker 4: icy necessarily, but like.
- 58:31Speaker 6: Strange.
- 58:32Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, totally. You know, they both have been hurt
- 58:34Speaker 4: by the loss of his wife and his daughter, right,
- 58:37Speaker 4: so like all that stuff is in there. I just
- 58:41Speaker 4: loved John. I think that's great.
- 58:43Speaker 1: Agreed. It's tough because because they all they kind of
- 58:48Speaker 1: skipped through so many actors because of the time changing everything,
- 58:51Speaker 1: so you don't get a ton of time with the
- 58:54Speaker 1: actors or the characters rather in each kind of age range.
- 58:58Speaker 1: So it's tough. This that makes it tougher because because
- 59:01Speaker 1: of that. But I still think it's a damon.
- 59:06Speaker 3: Matt Damon. Yes, definitely have to pick Matt Damon.
- 59:09Speaker 5: Jessica Chastain and this was great too.
- 59:11Speaker 4: But yeah, I was wonderful. She's so good and.
- 59:16Speaker 5: She's so good and everything. Mikechael Caine also awesome. You
- 59:21Speaker 5: saw him once, right, Jenn was I sure?
- 59:24Speaker 1: Did?
- 59:25Speaker 7: I did? I really did?
- 59:27Speaker 4: One of my favorite Yeah, because we like I remember
- 59:32Speaker 4: looking up the heights of a car to see if
- 59:34Speaker 4: it approximately worked for him and stuff.
- 59:37Speaker 8: Yeah, she looked up like his filming schedule, and he
- 59:42Speaker 8: was like in the in the area.
- 59:44Speaker 1: I don't know what he's agin. What did he say
- 59:47Speaker 1: to you?
- 59:49Speaker 8: I asked him if he was Michael Kaine, and then
- 59:52Speaker 8: he said some quippy little line about well, it looks
- 59:55Speaker 8: like your eyes are working, aren't they love.
- 59:58Speaker 7: Or something like that.
- 59:59Speaker 8: It was like some some kind of but he didn't
- 1:00:01Speaker 8: say no, and he didn't say yes.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: He was hitting it and I was a little drunk.
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: And then he said random is like rage rage.
- 1:00:11Speaker 8: He got in with a lot of pretty ladies though,
- 1:00:14Speaker 8: So I mean he was killing it, regardless.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: Of whether it's that's Cements, that's Michael.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: Lady.
- 1:00:22Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I like, I mean, I love that
- 1:00:27Speaker 8: he's in most Nolan films.
- 1:00:29Speaker 6: I think it's a fun like it.
- 1:00:31Speaker 8: There's there's like some there's something about like a Nolan
- 1:00:34Speaker 8: film where you just know, I like the consistency and
- 1:00:38Speaker 8: the I don't know, it feels.
- 1:00:42Speaker 4: I like to that Caine is like he's a dirt
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: bag kind of but also you're like kind of get it,
- 1:00:48Speaker 4: you know, in a weird way.
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: Terrible in all the Monster, Yeah, necessary monster.
- 1:00:57Speaker 8: Yeah, Darryl, I have the same thing with John Letgow
- 1:01:01Speaker 8: as your mom has with Matt Damon because I had
- 1:01:04Speaker 8: just watched Dexter season three or four.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Yeah, that'll do.
- 1:01:09Speaker 5: It the best seasons.
- 1:01:12Speaker 8: Yeah, And so he's just forever kind of not is
- 1:01:16Speaker 8: he the Trinity Kill the Trinity Killer?
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: He's like good.
- 1:01:22Speaker 8: It was the first time I was living alone, and
- 1:01:25Speaker 8: that's why I got my dog because I was like,
- 1:01:27Speaker 8: I'm going to get a gun and my family was like,
- 1:01:29Speaker 8: don't do that, so I got a dog instead.
- 1:01:33Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: Is lift go or lift gow Jonathan lift Guy?
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: I've heard both.
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: Yeah, the way Let's go or.
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: Left got That's definitely It's one of those good.
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: I don't know who's who makes the call on this one.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: I guess is it a vote because we got two
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: versus what was your vote? By the way, what did
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: you say?
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: Who did you actually pick?
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: I know you started into the other ones.
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: Well, I know that I always go last on that one,
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: so I always just do the the dea to be honest,
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: I really do. But I probably would have done Damon
- 1:02:10Speaker 4: because I think he's so graduated and it's so unexactors
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: guild Man, and I would absolutely do him. In real life,
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: you would he could be for sure? Yeah there, all right,
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: And I'm sorry to any of our our gay friends
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: if I'm co opting that.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: No, No, that's for you and you alone. Don't you
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: worry about that all you want? You say it?
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: So, well, yeah, I think he would probably be.
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: It for sure. Yeah.
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: Well cool, Well, let's uh, let's go to our favorite scene.
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: This was tough.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: Let's pick the dingus is quite simple.
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: Really, dingus us.
- 1:02:52Speaker 6: I could talk about my dingas all dy long.
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: Let's go first on?
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: So hard to say, go, yeah, why don't you want
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: one of you guys go? We started the other ones?
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: Come on the first person.
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: I mean, it's true, I'll go it's I already said it.
- 1:03:10Speaker 5: But that gift just Cooper watching the videos from his kids.
- 1:03:13Speaker 5: That's what I think about when I think about this movie.
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: That's where my head goes. It's incredible acting. You can't
- 1:03:19Speaker 5: really imagine it. They had one little screw up on
- 1:03:22Speaker 5: this planet and he lost twenty three years and happening.
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: That's what I feel about most of the last two decades, honestly,
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: just lost them.
- 1:03:42Speaker 6: It's so dark.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: That's were laughing so hard? Am I laughing?
- 1:03:54Speaker 7: Jumped in and said, no, no.
- 1:03:55Speaker 5: That's not just laughed.
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: I kind of get it.
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: We're terrible.
- 1:04:08Speaker 4: I need to go cry for a second.
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: So everybody in my.
- 1:04:10Speaker 6: Favorite cry of the screen though, and yeah, yeah, yeah please.
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: What's your favorite seed? Daryl?
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: Oh Me, I had a real hard time with this.
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: It is difficult, this one, I think, uh, the one
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: that comes back to the most. Although I enjoy. Let's
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: say I took a note of it. I enjoy the
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: I love the docking sequence.
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: Yes, my doctor there take it another to cut that out.
- 1:04:50Speaker 7: Let me start from the time lights.
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: Look, let me look five four five four.
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: No, that's not what I want to do anyway. So
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: there was a scene. Let me rephrase that.
- 1:05:06Speaker 7: Maybe there was a.
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: There was a scene in the movie of trying to
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: dry dock the what do you call that thing, the
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: explorer with doctor there. He's doctor Man's trying to dock
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: the explorer or whatever, and they're talking, trying to talk
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: to him. That scene is excellent.
- 1:05:31Speaker 4: I do love yeah, so calm yeah, yeah, doctor man,
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: doctor Man.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: Do not try to doc doctor.
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: Doctor man.
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: Wow, that was bad. But I love the tester act
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: black hole sequence. But you know when he discovers I
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: remember a memory. I have a memory of that scene. Actually,
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: I was in the Imax theater watching that and I
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: remember it. At that moment, I saw kind of the
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: everything was coming together, and I thought to myself, I'll
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: never get to experience this for the first time again.
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: I was really bummed at that moment. I was like,
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: because I could see it all coming together, I know
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: how special. It was, at least to me. But I
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: just remember I actually looked around the theater for a second,
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: you know, and like and drank the whole thing in
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: and I'm like, I'm never going to see this for
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: the first time again. But so I do love that
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: scene quite a bit too. But the one that always
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: comes back to me in those images the Stone in
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: my Shoes Chris with Collegenica. But is that when he
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: leaves the house whole that whole sequence when he's in
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: the truck. It culminates through that scene kind of the
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: build up to when he's got to leave, and then
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: he's driving away. The score swells the cameras the camera's
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: connected to that to the back of the truck, so
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: you watch it driving away, she runs out, you know,
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: that whole sequence, and he's doing that face again where
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: he doesn't let it go, but that's all building up,
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: you know, in him, and then they just cut right
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: to that quiet rocket launch. It's just one of the
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: one of the finest sequences. I think. So that's one
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: of my favorites.
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: Agreed.
- 1:07:14Speaker 5: I love that so much, and I love that we
- 1:07:16Speaker 5: didn't get all that time of him like getting ready
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: to get into the It was so yeah, very yeah, yeah,
- 1:07:26Speaker 5: that's a really good call, Jennica, what did you have?
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: Did you my.
- 1:07:31Speaker 8: Second Darryl's I also loved. I loved his facial acting
- 1:07:36Speaker 8: so much where he's like still crying and then he
- 1:07:42Speaker 8: looks over and wrenches the stuff off of the passenger seat,
- 1:07:46Speaker 8: kind of like with this excitement and this.
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: Skill, hope and so good.
- 1:07:50Speaker 6: Yes, you could see the hopefulness and then the yeah
- 1:07:55Speaker 6: it kills me. I was I was just crying so hard.
- 1:07:59Speaker 8: I watched I'm of It on the airplane yesterday and
- 1:08:01Speaker 8: I was just sobbing next to a stranger.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: I'm pretty stoic in the in the movies. I'm always
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: trying to choke it back. That's some some wee can
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: something we can talk through, Jennka. Maybe another time. But
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: I'm it's like I'm always just like, nope, you're not
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: going to do it here, but just cowboy style. But
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: that scene and him watching those videos, so I'm I mean,
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: I'm I'm on the edge of my seat with the
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: crying game of course to find out the actual number
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: because I was losing it and I always stuff it,
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: stuff it down. So anyway, oh sorry, Who's Next huge?
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: Right used to do?
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I love all those scenes. You guess picked I
- 1:08:43Speaker 4: had the Messages one. I mean, that's right there, because
- 1:08:47Speaker 4: I'm kind of with you, Rob, like when McConaughey is
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: reviewing the twenty three Years of Messages, it's just I'm
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: with you. That's what I think of when I think
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: of this movie in a lot of ways. I want
- 1:08:58Speaker 4: to couple in the water Planet sequence with that because
- 1:09:01Speaker 4: I think that's just so incredible and really, I don't know,
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: just really fun. Like the yeah, the wave is just
- 1:09:10Speaker 4: like that's not you know, like it's so cool.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: He's still alive down there, you know.
- 1:09:15Speaker 7: Yeah, and probably.
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: He's a he's alive down there. Space suit. He's in
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: a space suit. He's sealed in it. He's fine. He's
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: just floating in the water, just riding the waves.
- 1:09:30Speaker 4: Mass Well, we have we have some trivia about that
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: very thing. But the sorry later.
- 1:09:37Speaker 5: And that guy he was in he was in American Beauty.
- 1:09:40Speaker 5: He was in He's in Yellowstone.
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: We had mentioned him. Wes Brantley is his name.
- 1:09:44Speaker 4: He was in the West World too, I think, right,
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: maybe not that I love that that Water Planet sequence,
- 1:09:55Speaker 4: and then obviously that goes right into that. You know
- 1:09:59Speaker 4: who we didn't mentioned though, is the the other crew mate,
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: because when they come back to the ship and he's like,
- 1:10:05Speaker 4: I've been here for twenty What is that dude's name?
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: Actually, I don't know. It's the only time I've ever
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: seen him, and that I can think of.
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: Romilly? Right, so David?
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: Does he have other credits to his name?
- 1:10:20Speaker 4: You know, I didn't recognize him from almost anything else. Right.
- 1:10:24Speaker 4: He's so good in this that it's it seems crazy.
- 1:10:27Speaker 8: He was in cloud Career, move start on Anlan and
- 1:10:30Speaker 8: just in there quit where you're at?
- 1:10:32Speaker 6: Yeah, Interstellar?
- 1:10:38Speaker 5: Yeah you ever seen Interstellar?
- 1:10:43Speaker 7: No, pretty big role.
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: But when he's like I waited so long and like
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: you can tell that he's just been without people for
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: twenty years, Like, oh my god. Pretty well. He actually
- 1:10:52Speaker 4: did really well all things considered. I feel like another
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: scene though, I love when it's clicking into place that
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: Damon's character is lying to them and that like alongside
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: of Murph figuring out who the ghost is and like
- 1:11:13Speaker 4: what's happening? The field's burning? You know, like it, I
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: get it. It's like the climax of the movie. But
- 1:11:18Speaker 4: that scene is so cool. And so well paced, because
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: like we're going back and forth through these multiple things
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: happening all at the same time, really fun.
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: Like that's why there's too many good scenes.
- 1:11:31Speaker 5: Yeah, well it's even just there's too many good scenes.
- 1:11:36Speaker 5: There's too many good ones.
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: I mean, we've picked.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: I don't like that. I don't like that there's a
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: good scenes.
- 1:11:40Speaker 5: There's too many, there's too many. Just the doctor Man
- 1:11:44Speaker 5: reveal that was also a great scene. And all that
- 1:11:51Speaker 5: stuff went down with the water planet and it was horrible.
- 1:11:54Speaker 5: And then you see Matt Damon and you're like, oh sweet,
- 1:11:58Speaker 5: we're gonna yeah, worry, this planet's gonna work.
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: It's gonna be great. Like we got over here, it's
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: gonna be We're gonna have a good time.
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: And then but other than that, and then they flipped
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: it and it was horrible.
- 1:12:15Speaker 6: Man, I agree. I like the pacing of that scene.
- 1:12:18Speaker 6: And they kept saying on Earth like we got to
- 1:12:20Speaker 6: get out of here. It's not safe here, it's and
- 1:12:24Speaker 6: kept flipping back and forth.
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: And that was that is a good one.
- 1:12:29Speaker 6: Mm hmmm. You know where they where they shot the
- 1:12:33Speaker 6: ice planet?
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: No, I don't.
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: Wasn't that Iceland?
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: Iceland?
- 1:12:38Speaker 4: That would have been my guest, but I don't know.
- 1:12:40Speaker 5: I think it was Iceland. That is crazy that that
- 1:12:46Speaker 5: is on earth. It doesn't look like it, dude, Iceland is.
- 1:12:49Speaker 4: The craziest place I've ever been. Everybody, it's so dope.
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: Got to go. We all got to go, all four
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: of us.
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: Let's go.
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: Let's ready, Let's get the due a lingo going. We
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: can It'll be great.
- 1:13:03Speaker 6: We can ask the library.
- 1:13:04Speaker 4: Is that language is part? I love that? Are we
- 1:13:09Speaker 4: going to pick one? I don't even known there? Yeah?
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: I would be great with Yeah, why don't we do
- 1:13:16Speaker 5: the watching the video and we do the rocket launch
- 1:13:19Speaker 5: sceor you know, leading up to the rocket launch was
- 1:13:23Speaker 5: sott first time.
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: That's the thing. Christopher Nolan is really good. He's really
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: good at using sound and then the void of no
- 1:13:32Speaker 4: sound like that is one.
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: Of his tricks in his bag.
- 1:13:35Speaker 4: For sure.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: That is so great.
- 1:13:38Speaker 4: He doesn't Oppenheimer several times. And yeah, it's wonderful. I
- 1:13:42Speaker 4: like that.
- 1:13:42Speaker 6: I still need to see that. I haven't seen Oh.
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: You do need to see that.
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: You haven't seen it.
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: It's good.
- 1:13:48Speaker 6: I haven't seen it. I need I can see it now.
- 1:13:50Speaker 6: I think when it came out last summer, I was like,
- 1:13:52Speaker 6: I can't, I can't.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: Do anything or what.
- 1:13:55Speaker 6: But yeah, I don't know. I watch it now.
- 1:13:58Speaker 4: It's wonderful. It's watch of my favorites of his, but
- 1:14:01Speaker 4: it is a masterpiece.
- 1:14:03Speaker 7: What is also Nolan.
- 1:14:07Speaker 8: Tim was noticing this yesterday because we watched the rest
- 1:14:10Speaker 8: of the movie after the airplane.
- 1:14:11Speaker 6: We watched the rest at home and.
- 1:14:13Speaker 8: He He's like, I keep waiting to get up to
- 1:14:16Speaker 8: go pee, but like I forget and Nolan films, there's
- 1:14:19Speaker 8: always just something important happening.
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: Yeah, always like kind of.
- 1:14:24Speaker 8: Like in Dunkirk, where it's just like the you know,
- 1:14:27Speaker 8: like it starts here and then you're up here the
- 1:14:29Speaker 8: whole time and then the movie's ever And I feel
- 1:14:31Speaker 8: like this is kind of like that, where everything it's
- 1:14:34Speaker 8: kind of important all the time.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: Mm hmmm.
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: Dunkirk's not my favorite, that's for sure. Rewatch either this
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: or Dark Knight.
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: I think rewatched Dumb Kirk. I had the same feeling
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: with that one when I first watched it. I didn't
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: get it. I'm like, you're Nolan's being too Nolan here.
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: But rewatch, oh man.
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: I just watch it late at night, so I had
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: the sound down even and I was just riveted.
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: Nice, I was so excited.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: Give it a rewatch. Yeah, it's better second time.
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: Wrong, take it for me, yeah, I will.
- 1:15:07Speaker 6: I am not rewatching tenant.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: Yeah. Exposition exposition, exposition. Let's explain this for three subtitles.
- 1:15:17Speaker 6: Subtitles.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: That's right, yeah, same thing, mass mask. Well.
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: Speaking of being able to hear things, let's talk about
- 1:15:25Speaker 4: the ones we could here. It's time to talk about
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: our best quote.
- 1:15:27Speaker 5: Show me the mother, show me.
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: Jica. You want to start?
- 1:15:39Speaker 8: Yeah, my favorite quote was once your parent, You're the
- 1:15:41Speaker 8: ghost of your children's future.
- 1:15:43Speaker 6: I like that because the whole movie hinges on that.
- 1:15:45Speaker 4: My goodness, that hard stuff there, it's hardcore.
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:15:49Speaker 8: I can't imagine as a parent here, Like I'm curious
- 1:15:52Speaker 8: from the dads to this the panel here travel too,
- 1:16:00Speaker 8: like I related to to Mackenzie Foyd too, Like sometimes
- 1:16:05Speaker 8: I feel that way, Like I remember when Tim went
- 1:16:07Speaker 8: to Australia last year and I like, couldn't you know
- 1:16:09Speaker 8: you don't hear from him for like sixteen hours or whatever.
- 1:16:13Speaker 6: Sort of remember feeling that way, like what if this
- 1:16:16Speaker 6: is the last time I see you and I don't
- 1:16:19Speaker 6: hear from you.
- 1:16:20Speaker 8: I just really I don't know, so like, Wow, I'm
- 1:16:23Speaker 8: curious if you just like really got get some emotional
- 1:16:26Speaker 8: watching watching dad's say goodbye.
- 1:16:29Speaker 6: To their kids.
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: Oh it's the worst. Yeah. Well, and he.
- 1:16:32Speaker 5: Also said before that he was like, I think his
- 1:16:35Speaker 5: wife had said, now, we're just here to be memories
- 1:16:38Speaker 5: for our kids, Yes, just like Jesus one.
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: Yeah, just a lot.
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: I really truly think that's the universe's reason for me
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: not having children. It's like, you can't handle it, bro
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: too tender.
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: Yeah, you can't handle it. Yeah, Janicket, you keep bringing
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: in a can foy. It's just that you just want
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: McConaughey to be your your daddy or whatever. That's what
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: we should talk about that a little bit.
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: I feel.
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: Mackenzie boy and I have so much in common.
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: I feel, I don't.
- 1:17:16Speaker 6: Know, literally nothing in common.
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: Really desire to have McConaughey. I like those two quotes.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: That's what I picked both of those. I think, Oh
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: it was the same quote, wasn't it. I did like
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: when he said I wrote it down because I was
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: never going to remember it. But he had the quote,
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: we used to look up at the sky and wonder
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: our place in the stars. Now we just look down
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: and worry about our place in the dirt. That's good.
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: I like that one a lot.
- 1:17:46Speaker 5: I love that I did too well delivered. You guys
- 1:17:50Speaker 5: picked really deep ones. My favorite one was from Tars.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: Everybody good, plenty of slaves for my robot colony.
- 1:18:00Speaker 7: That was good.
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: Really, it was pretty good. That was so good.
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: We needed Tars. We didn't talk about him either. That
- 1:18:06Speaker 5: was Bill Irwin.
- 1:18:07Speaker 4: Yeah, Tars was great, We needed him.
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: I wanted to nominate that guy for the the two
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: two absolutely forgot. I was going to mention the.
- 1:18:19Speaker 5: Voice and needed that comic relief big time. It was
- 1:18:23Speaker 5: good that his humor was like at sixty five percent.
- 1:18:27Speaker 4: That's the one I wrote down, what is humor setting
- 1:18:30Speaker 4: at Tars one hundred percent, Let's go ahead and bring
- 1:18:32Speaker 4: that back to seventy five.
- 1:18:34Speaker 6: That was so good. That was really good.
- 1:18:37Speaker 8: One quote that that stuck with me was Liftgo was
- 1:18:41Speaker 8: saying I think he was like six billion people trying
- 1:18:43Speaker 8: to have it all, and I like.
- 1:18:46Speaker 6: Like, we're over seven billion now. That stressed me out
- 1:18:49Speaker 6: pretty hard.
- 1:18:50Speaker 4: I immediately looked that up.
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: There.
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: Oh no, it's coming, it's happening. It's going to happen
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: for sure.
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: The last people to starve will be the first to suffocate,
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: Like hell.
- 1:19:08Speaker 6: Yeah, so dark uh.
- 1:19:12Speaker 4: Wolf mankind was born on Earth, but it was never
- 1:19:16Speaker 4: meant to die here like a like a more.
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: That's true, and that couples with this, you know, I
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: think he says his planet is a treasure, but it's
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: been telling us to leave for a while.
- 1:19:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:19:29Speaker 3: That was good.
- 1:19:30Speaker 4: That is great.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: God a lot of dark quotes here, the robots us
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: quote geez.
- 1:19:45Speaker 6: When he was like self distract and yeah, that was funny.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: At the end, flurry of him with the what was
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: the other one about blowing him out of the air
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: lock or whatever.
- 1:19:55Speaker 6: Yeah, you could use.
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: The light whatever is light. I'm ready colecting that. Well huh,
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: he's got a light hit and.
- 1:20:06Speaker 4: You're indicator that's not that's it there it is. I
- 1:20:10Speaker 4: also loved the when the when Damon is trying to
- 1:20:14Speaker 4: do Daryl's favorite activity of docking with the station and
- 1:20:20Speaker 4: he's like he's talking right before it explodes. He's like,
- 1:20:24Speaker 4: this isn't about my life or your life or Cooper's life.
- 1:20:27Speaker 4: This is about all of us. There is a moment and.
- 1:20:29Speaker 6: Then that was so fun like and soundless.
- 1:20:34Speaker 13: That was great.
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: Oh yeah, well, no one.
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: Can hear you scream in space?
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: Right?
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: I think we learned that from somebody saying I also
- 1:20:41Speaker 4: love the we agreed Amelia ninety percent when they're talking
- 1:20:44Speaker 4: about how truthful they're going to be and he sends
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: her off and it goes into the black hole and
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: all that. I love that, right?
- 1:20:51Speaker 6: That was Okay, Now I got it.
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: That's a tough sequence too, That's are I didn't know.
- 1:20:57Speaker 6: I had to rewind that a few times. I didn't
- 1:20:59Speaker 6: get that honesty.
- 1:21:02Speaker 8: Earlier.
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: They're like, I've learned that one hundred percent honesty isn't
- 1:21:05Speaker 4: the best bet all the time. And she's say, yeah,
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: you're right, let's agree on ninety's. They're referenced a couple
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: of times, but right there at the end, which I loved. Ye,
- 1:21:15Speaker 4: I do love the poem. I agree they say it
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: like three too many, but I like that poem.
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: I mean it's a great poem. Guys. Nobody's denying it's
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: a great poem. We're just saying, hey, read.
- 1:21:31Speaker 4: No, it's lovely. I'll send it to you.
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: Why don't you read it for us?
- 1:21:35Speaker 4: No, it's pretty long.
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:21:37Speaker 4: Came into the conversation you.
- 1:21:40Speaker 5: Want to know somebody who says that is a Dylan Thomas.
- 1:21:45Speaker 5: That Dylan Thomas poem. Really great is Rodney Dangerfield and
- 1:21:50Speaker 5: back to school?
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: You guys go and watch it. It's wonderful.
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: Is that for exact class or whatever?
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: Yes, yes, wow, that's a good one.
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: That's right.
- 1:22:05Speaker 4: Then it's at the very beginning. But we're repopulating the earth.
- 1:22:10Speaker 4: Do your part, old man. Yeah, that was pretty fun.
- 1:22:15Speaker 8: Also just demonstrates how like how dire the situation is
- 1:22:19Speaker 8: that his ex fot there in law or his widow
- 1:22:22Speaker 8: father in law sort of is encouraging him to go
- 1:22:27Speaker 8: find a new partner.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: Yeah, that teacher, I think he was encouraging to right. Yeah,
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: he was supposed to go popular too.
- 1:22:34Speaker 4: She's been in a number of things.
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, that was a great scene and it gets
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: tossed away because it's so early on, but the whole
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: scene in the school is excellent, pretty wonderful, just because
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: the actors are so good, I'm sure. But lent a
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: lot of weight to the story.
- 1:22:49Speaker 5: It was a great sentence, and he had that good
- 1:22:52Speaker 5: line asking about his pants size. So you need two
- 1:22:55Speaker 5: numbers to figure out the size of your one number
- 1:23:01Speaker 5: for my kid to go to school or whatever.
- 1:23:03Speaker 3: That something like that.
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: That's pretty great. I'm not afraid of death, No, I'm
- 1:23:09Speaker 4: a physicist. I'm afraid of time. I thought it was
- 1:23:12Speaker 4: a really cool I thought that was a great one.
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: That was Michael Kaine, My Michael, yeah one.
- 1:23:21Speaker 5: You did a good job writing more down because I
- 1:23:24Speaker 5: really yeah, I was having a hard.
- 1:23:25Speaker 4: Time hear half of them.
- 1:23:27Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: That's your favorite.
- 1:23:31Speaker 4: What I just want to say, Hulu does this really
- 1:23:34Speaker 4: cool thing that I hope everyone adapts. Now, if you
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: rewind on Hulu, it automatically brings the subtitles up for
- 1:23:42Speaker 4: what you were wound back to. And I think that's brilliant.
- 1:23:45Speaker 4: Yep everywhere, because.
- 1:23:47Speaker 6: I'm usually why I'm rewinding in a Nolan film, particularly, I.
- 1:23:53Speaker 4: Know that's true.
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: It's a bummer.
- 1:23:57Speaker 7: It's true style.
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: He hates it. Finally, just like loud stuff in the
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: background as well.
- 1:24:05Speaker 5: Over the dialogue, Well let's go, let's keep going, let's
- 1:24:08Speaker 5: uh bugs, boom moments, the crying game.
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: Oh.
- 1:24:12Speaker 5: I feel like I'm gonna need your help, Jennica, because
- 1:24:14Speaker 5: I only picked six, but it seems like there should
- 1:24:18Speaker 5: have been like sixteen. So if you can think of more,
- 1:24:21Speaker 5: I'll tell you the sixth that I thought of, Okay,
- 1:24:25Speaker 5: that don't make me leave like this, I love you forever.
- 1:24:27Speaker 5: I'm coming back and still boohooing as he's driving away.
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: That's twice. That's two maybe right.
- 1:24:34Speaker 5: Right now, McConaughey watching the twenty three years of videos.
- 1:24:38Speaker 5: We talked about that quite a few times.
- 1:24:40Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:24:40Speaker 5: Obviously when Mike okay explained that there was no plan
- 1:24:45Speaker 5: A and then kick the bucket, yep, when we think
- 1:24:51Speaker 5: McConaughey is sacrificing himself to let Anne Hathway get to
- 1:24:56Speaker 5: the other planet and going into the black hole.
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: Definitely that one, oh yes, yes, yes, yes, maybe the most,
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: maybe cried the most there maybe because it was you know,
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: momentum was going sure right, yeah, and you had tears
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: left over from the last their cumulative.
- 1:25:13Speaker 5: Tears, for sure, they're cumulative, for sure.
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: Okay, that's the most cried. We should pick that too.
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: Cried the most too, So sorry, go ahead, I apologize.
- 1:25:22Speaker 5: The fifth one was just him screaming like make him stay, Murph, God,
- 1:25:29Speaker 5: don't let me leave, Murph.
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: Yeah, that's pretty bad. The seeing his you know daughter
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: again for the first time when she's older. I would say, yeah,
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: I would say when Matt Damon cried, we all.
- 1:25:43Speaker 7: Cried, Oh.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: That, okay, there's a seven because it's just a reflex,
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: you know, and he's so good at a good call.
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: Let's see what else? When that's pretty close? I would
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: I could, I could imagine.
- 1:25:59Speaker 4: That I was there. I did cry. Was her saying,
- 1:26:05Speaker 4: what are you going to do? Just wait here for
- 1:26:06Speaker 4: your next kid to die?
- 1:26:08Speaker 5: And I was like, that was brutal, Cry me cry,
- 1:26:14Speaker 5: that was sad.
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: Let's see good at eight?
- 1:26:19Speaker 8: Did you cry at the drone like they're driving through
- 1:26:23Speaker 8: the cornfields and having so much fun and he's like
- 1:26:26Speaker 8: feeling life again?
- 1:26:27Speaker 4: No, that's the thing I probably done.
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: But yeah, did you cry when she discovered him in
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: this in space when they when they picked them up
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: and you knew he was going to be saved and
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: and oh yeah, be.
- 1:26:41Speaker 3: Okay, okay, okay.
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: And then did you when he was going to go
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: find Anne Hathaway and they showed these cut scenes of
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: him running to the ship and then an Athaway she's alone, man,
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: she's gonna be by herself, but he's coming for her.
- 1:26:55Speaker 4: Did that?
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: Did you cry?
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: Then?
- 1:26:58Speaker 4: I actually just wrote the entire ding from the time
- 1:27:01Speaker 4: from the time they pick him up. To the end
- 1:27:03Speaker 4: of the film is I was basically crying the whole
- 1:27:06Speaker 4: time and no one should see their kid die, which
- 1:27:16Speaker 4: which I think is proof that she did have a
- 1:27:18Speaker 4: relationship with her brother, because I think she gets that
- 1:27:20Speaker 4: from her brother, like because he had to see his
- 1:27:23Speaker 4: kids die and work through all that, right, or at
- 1:27:26Speaker 4: least one kid die. Jesse. I think it was his name,
- 1:27:30Speaker 4: kid Die.
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: It's such a brutal line.
- 1:27:41Speaker 4: Yes, oh my.
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: God, did you cry when the ghosts snacked over the
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: moonlander off the shelf? That was sad broken moonlander. No,
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: I don't think I cried specifically, because okay, so that's
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: nine times.
- 1:27:55Speaker 6: Did you cry when they had to put their masks
- 1:27:57Speaker 6: on what was coming through?
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: No, kiss your boyfriend because you were so happy?
- 1:28:06Speaker 4: I did, Like I did, write down the Eureka moment.
- 1:28:10Speaker 4: I did like that.
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Grace, I forgot, yeah.
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: Could have done, could go with or without, just for
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: He's always to for Grace, you know, that's always.
- 1:28:24Speaker 4: That's true. I have one four, I have.
- 1:28:27Speaker 3: Nine written down right now?
- 1:28:29Speaker 5: You still have four more?
- 1:28:30Speaker 4: More?
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: Could lord? I guess we got to no four.
- 1:28:35Speaker 4: Saying I have children, professor, then get out of here.
- 1:28:38Speaker 4: And save them.
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: That's early.
- 1:28:41Speaker 4: That's an early one. H the man was born on Earth,
- 1:28:45Speaker 4: but it never meant it. They were never meant to die.
- 1:28:47Speaker 4: Here got me, okay, uh, when they get hit by
- 1:28:52Speaker 4: the wave, but really, more specifically when they come back
- 1:28:55Speaker 4: and see Rom who's waited twenty three years. That really
- 1:28:59Speaker 4: got me.
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: Talk about his body floating in the water down there,
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: that part so.
- 1:29:04Speaker 8: Much, or that he's horrible when she's like she had
- 1:29:09Speaker 8: died probably an hour ago.
- 1:29:11Speaker 4: Minutes ago.
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, really.
- 1:29:18Speaker 4: Oh and then just I guess it. I guess it
- 1:29:20Speaker 4: was her hugging him, now that I look at this,
- 1:29:23Speaker 4: I didn't write down hugging him, so I missed just
- 1:29:26Speaker 4: on she was her saying he came back all this
- 1:29:28Speaker 4: time it was him, and I didn't know it. Dad's
- 1:29:31Speaker 4: gonna save us.
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: Yes, that whole thing, that was powerful stuff.
- 1:29:36Speaker 4: Yeah. So what is that fifteen?
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: That's fifteen?
- 1:29:39Speaker 3: I think it's fourteen fourteen record?
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: What's your record?
- 1:29:42Speaker 4: No, this was like Lord of the Rings. We were
- 1:29:46Speaker 4: up in Lord of the Rings, Return of the Trageting.
- 1:29:51Speaker 4: It was for sure the forties something.
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: Fifty fifteen endings, I suppose catch.
- 1:29:57Speaker 4: I just love those movies so much.
- 1:30:00Speaker 3: So many dissolves, dangerously close to just kidding.
- 1:30:08Speaker 4: Speaking negative.
- 1:30:16Speaker 7: Piece, so bad, so sad, been here for hours, that's fun.
- 1:30:24Speaker 4: All right, Well that was all booze. Let's go ahead
- 1:30:26Speaker 4: and talk about some movie trivia because I had kind
- 1:30:29Speaker 4: of maybe let's see, I thought this was crazy. To
- 1:30:34Speaker 4: create the wormhole and the black hole, doctor Kip Thorn
- 1:30:38Speaker 4: collaborated with visual effects supervisor Paul J. Franklin and his
- 1:30:41Speaker 4: team at Double Negative Pages of deeply sourced theoretical equations
- 1:30:46Speaker 4: to the team, who then created new CGI software programs
- 1:30:50Speaker 4: based on these equations to create accurate computer simulations of
- 1:30:53Speaker 4: these phenomena. Some individual frames took up to one hundred
- 1:30:58Speaker 4: hours to render an ultimate crazy. The entire CGI program
- 1:31:02Speaker 4: reached eight hundred terabytes of data, which is.
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: And you got to wait one hundred hours to see so.
- 1:31:12Speaker 4: Crazy the resulting oh god, what did it scroll? The
- 1:31:16Speaker 4: resulting visual effects provided Thorn with the new insight into
- 1:31:19Speaker 4: the effects of gravitational lensing and accretion disks surrounding black holes,
- 1:31:25Speaker 4: and led him actually to write two scientific papers, one
- 1:31:28Speaker 4: for the astrophysics community and one for the computer graphics community.
- 1:31:33Speaker 4: Like this pushed science forward, which is crazy to think
- 1:31:36Speaker 4: about Wow, that super bizarre. But I just thought that
- 1:31:39Speaker 4: was wow, super intense and no wonder they looked so
- 1:31:42Speaker 4: wonky crazy. Let's see, Wow, they also grew Christopher Nolan
- 1:31:48Speaker 4: sought to grow five hundred acres of corn for the
- 1:31:51Speaker 4: corn fi I was which they learned from Man of
- 1:31:55Speaker 4: Steel was feasible. And then the corn was sold and
- 1:31:58Speaker 4: they actually made a profit from it.
- 1:31:59Speaker 3: So that's yeah.
- 1:32:00Speaker 6: I was it in Calgary or something.
- 1:32:03Speaker 4: I don't know. I didn't read that, but that would
- 1:32:04Speaker 4: make sense. I know, of course made a profit corn.
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: That was the film's profit was just from the corn.
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: That's all the time.
- 1:32:11Speaker 4: I think they might have made some other profit on
- 1:32:14Speaker 4: a corn.
- 1:32:14Speaker 3: So yeah, not make money.
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: I like that actually because it's his style of you know, building.
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: It's just another set you built, basically, and he's still
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: he still does that, and that's getting rarer and rarer.
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: What's a better way to say that, guy rare? Another way?
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: That's great to say, no, but you know, there's not
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: They're all just Zack snydering all the time, you know.
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: So it's nice to see some building sets in that
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: corn as an example that I thought that was such
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: a cool, cool.
- 1:32:45Speaker 8: Fact that Yeah, that did you all stress out at
- 1:32:48Speaker 8: all that he just drove his truck somebody's cornfield?
- 1:32:53Speaker 4: Yes, because they did all that.
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: They grew five hundred acres of corn. That's what they're
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: trying to do.
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: In the movie.
- 1:33:04Speaker 8: Is fine, just like I hope that's his field because
- 1:33:09Speaker 8: it's just stroying somebody's crops.
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: But I did have that thought, like what are you doing?
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: You need this?
- 1:33:15Speaker 6: So it looked also ul and also what if it's
- 1:33:21Speaker 6: not as corn?
- 1:33:22Speaker 4: Corn look mature, they'll be able to get it. Still
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: it's just knocked down. It's fine. We don't worry about that.
- 1:33:30Speaker 4: Maybe it was his corn. I don't know. That's a
- 1:33:34Speaker 4: good question. That's a good question.
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: That is a great question.
- 1:33:41Speaker 4: I don't What I do have is the method of
- 1:33:44Speaker 4: space travel in this movie was based on physicist doctor
- 1:33:48Speaker 4: Kip Thorn, doctor.
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: Thorne's works that was Inconceivable.
- 1:33:58Speaker 4: This method was also used in con Tact, which also
- 1:34:01Speaker 4: starts Matthew McConaughey.
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, not a bad little movie either.
- 1:34:09Speaker 4: We talked about how like Hans Zimmer was asked by
- 1:34:13Speaker 4: Chris Brolan to make a unique score, he said it
- 1:34:15Speaker 4: was time to reinvent the endless string Ostinados need to
- 1:34:19Speaker 4: go by the wayside the big drums.
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: For years.
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: Yes, but they said I heard it.
- 1:34:25Speaker 4: He gave the composer one page of text and that
- 1:34:30Speaker 4: was all he went off of basically to do that.
- 1:34:32Speaker 4: So he gave him like a vibe page basically actually
- 1:34:36Speaker 4: based off.
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: That vibe page was apparently more about Hans Zimmer than
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: the film. Also, that's crazy, which is pretty cool. I
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: thought that was an interesting detail. You got the do
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: you have the trivia about the where the project came from?
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: Where it started?
- 1:34:57Speaker 4: It was in just tell me it was.
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: It was originally a Spielberg movie, Spielberg written by Jath
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: Nolan still but in strange fashion, it was a more
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: of a kind of a darker ending to the film
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: with with stevens or what Steven's idea for the movie
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: was was a little bit of a darker ending.
- 1:35:21Speaker 3: Stephen Spielberg had a darker ending. Yeah, yeah, that's surprising.
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: It was a different film though, Right, there's a dark
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: side to Spielberg, man, is there?
- 1:35:31Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: Like absolutely, kind of like the AI thing, right, everybody
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: assumed the dark part of that movie was Kubrig, but
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: it was Spielberg anyway. His version of it was darker
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: and I think a little more convoluted once I read
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: the synopsis, if you will, and I thought that he
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: Nolan grabbed that script and kind of carved away the
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: clay in all the right ways. So if you love that.
- 1:36:00Speaker 4: Speaking of like his love of practical effects, the giant
- 1:36:03Speaker 4: dust clouds were created on location using large fans to
- 1:36:08Speaker 4: blow cellulose based synthetic dust through the air for real, apparently,
- 1:36:14Speaker 4: which is insane. They did film in Iceland. You're right
- 1:36:21Speaker 4: about that, Rob, because Anne Halfaway suffered from hypothermia while
- 1:36:24Speaker 4: filming in Iceland due to the fact that her astronaut
- 1:36:27Speaker 4: soup was open. Uh to say soup suit was open
- 1:36:31Speaker 4: while filming scenes in the icy waters. Fun Bummer doctor
- 1:36:39Speaker 4: Kip Thorne won a scientific bet against Stephen Hawking upon
- 1:36:44Speaker 4: the theory the astrophysics theory that underlies this movie, and
- 1:36:49Speaker 4: as a consequence, Hawking had to subscribe to Penthouse magazine
- 1:36:53Speaker 4: for a year, which this bet was depicted in the
- 1:36:56Speaker 4: theory of everything already subscribed. So yeah, he's.
- 1:37:04Speaker 3: Now I have two of these. What am I going
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: to do?
- 1:37:09Speaker 4: They already have my info? How do I do this again?
- 1:37:12Speaker 2: Uh?
- 1:37:14Speaker 4: But several tracks of the score were recorded at the
- 1:37:18Speaker 4: tempo of a one beat per second, precisely matching the
- 1:37:22Speaker 4: passage of time, which I thought was really fun.
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: Can I can I add on to that? Do you mind?
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: Is anybody mind?
- 1:37:31Speaker 4: I don't mind at all.
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: When they got apparently when they were filming the gargantuous scenes,
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: he slowed that beat to every second and a half.
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: Cool mimic the slowing of the time, which I thought
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: was pretty Yeah, I'd be impressive.
- 1:37:54Speaker 5: That a second and a half.
- 1:37:55Speaker 3: You know, it is weird? Got it?
- 1:38:03Speaker 4: Let's see the books displayed on the bookshelves shown in
- 1:38:06Speaker 4: the movie, where the actual books. Nolan had to read
- 1:38:08Speaker 4: the books for his research about black holes and the singularity.
- 1:38:13Speaker 3: They were really god.
- 1:38:16Speaker 7: Books, extra meanings.
- 1:38:21Speaker 6: Some of them was like a wrinkle in time was
- 1:38:23Speaker 6: on there.
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: And everyone poops, seminal work of our age.
- 1:38:35Speaker 4: Some boring ones where we okay, Let's get on the
- 1:38:38Speaker 4: Doyle one. Although Doyle is presumed rowned after being struck
- 1:38:41Speaker 4: on the title wave on Miller's planet, his soon appears
- 1:38:43Speaker 4: intact when the meaning it's remotely possible he could have
- 1:38:47Speaker 4: survived the impact and is merely unconscious.
- 1:38:51Speaker 5: Given extreme time dilation.
- 1:38:53Speaker 4: On Miller's planet, a rescue is very possible. Assuming a
- 1:38:57Speaker 4: mission were to be dispatched from Cooper's station or ding Saturn.
- 1:39:00Speaker 4: It would only take nine hours in relative time for
- 1:39:03Speaker 4: Doyle to be rescued, but over six past for the
- 1:39:07Speaker 4: rest of the world rescue, so they could get there
- 1:39:11Speaker 4: like nine hours after and he could still be alive.
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: Crazy, I think he's alive.
- 1:39:17Speaker 4: That dude is dead.
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: I think they need Tom.
- 1:39:19Speaker 8: Isn't that a role though in film and TV? That
- 1:39:21Speaker 8: if you don't see them, if you don't see a corpse.
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: Yes, you don't see where's the core?
- 1:39:28Speaker 4: We could see the body likes to leave a sequel
- 1:39:32Speaker 4: check off spacesuit. You know, if it's there, you got
- 1:39:34Speaker 4: to use it. Ah Old Murph has the first and
- 1:39:38Speaker 4: last lines of dialogue in the movie Ellenstein Burst. After
- 1:39:50Speaker 4: solving the gravity equation, Murph shouts eureka, and this is
- 1:39:53Speaker 4: of course a reference to the phrase used by the
- 1:39:55Speaker 4: Greek inventor Archimedes. I found it. He said it after
- 1:40:00Speaker 4: realizing the volume of water displaced in the tub was
- 1:40:03Speaker 4: equal to the volume.
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: We don't know why.
- 1:40:05Speaker 4: He said, uh, yeah, that's what that was.
- 1:40:15Speaker 3: Eureka, Eureka. That was all that those are good.
- 1:40:19Speaker 5: I didn't see any stuff for actors up for roles.
- 1:40:24Speaker 5: I was surprised that I didn't see that. The only
- 1:40:26Speaker 5: thing I saw was the this that it was originally
- 1:40:29Speaker 5: Spielberg's project.
- 1:40:30Speaker 3: That is crazy, let go of it.
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right about that. Usually there's other names attached,
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: is what you're saying. Yeah, and I didn't notice that either, interesting,
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: especially when another director has it.
- 1:40:41Speaker 5: Like a lot of times I he'll figure out who's
- 1:40:43Speaker 5: going to be in the in the cast, and then
- 1:40:47Speaker 5: they didn't do.
- 1:40:47Speaker 4: That for this.
- 1:40:48Speaker 3: But who knows, I don't know.
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: I think he's I think he casts pretty specifically though too,
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: No one does. I don't think there's a ton of Well, he.
- 1:40:56Speaker 4: Was probably out of point by then where he could
- 1:40:58Speaker 4: just get anybody that he wanted basically right, Yeah, and
- 1:41:03Speaker 4: continues to.
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: For sure, just true.
- 1:41:07Speaker 3: I didn't have anything else, anybody else trivia.
- 1:41:10Speaker 8: Jonathan Nolan had studied like four years of physics I
- 1:41:14Speaker 8: think at Caltech when he was writing the script, maybe
- 1:41:17Speaker 8: before he wrote the script.
- 1:41:18Speaker 6: So he already knew. I didn't realize that about him.
- 1:41:22Speaker 6: Nolan brothers, those.
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: Nolan's I read dummies. I have something I have something
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: in the trivia trivia. I learned through my research, my my,
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: my muccho research that Mud was the Mud was the
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: role that got him this role. Nolan saw Mud and
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: realized the depth of McConaughey. I also learned, funny enough,
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: when we were talking about how he was coming out
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: of the rom coms that they all said he took
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: those roles just as seriously has any other role. I
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: thought he was just the dude, you know, just just
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: nude bongos after the after you yelled cut. But dude
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: was real serious about the rom coms too, which is
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: pretty pretty funny, pretty interesting.
- 1:42:13Speaker 4: Yeah, that's why they're also good. That's right, that's fun.
- 1:42:19Speaker 3: He is good.
- 1:42:20Speaker 4: It's all I got for trivia.
- 1:42:22Speaker 3: That's it, all right, And that there let's go. Will
- 1:42:25Speaker 3: there be a sequel? Darryl thinks, so.
- 1:42:27Speaker 5: I do.
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: The the Doyle Doyle Rescue.
- 1:42:33Speaker 4: Weekend at Doyle's planet, walk him around this corpse.
- 1:42:41Speaker 3: They get the surfboard wave.
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: I think he's just a way man. That's a killer wave.
- 1:42:48Speaker 4: Many nice?
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: All right? Cool? Well, do you guys want to play
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: a game?
- 1:42:56Speaker 3: I made a game for you.
- 1:42:58Speaker 5: I did a starting five. So how I do this
- 1:43:01Speaker 5: I'm gonna name my five favorite actors from a particular film,
- 1:43:05Speaker 5: and when you know the film, you ring.
- 1:43:07Speaker 4: In with your name.
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:43:09Speaker 5: If you get it wrong, there won't be any negative points,
- 1:43:12Speaker 5: but you won't be able to guess again for that movie.
- 1:43:15Speaker 5: If there are actors' names remaining, you can guess those
- 1:43:18Speaker 5: for a point each. Okay, Okay, another person can steal
- 1:43:22Speaker 5: if you get any of those names wrong. And all
- 1:43:25Speaker 5: of these films have something in common. When you know
- 1:43:28Speaker 5: the theme, you can ring it at any time, so
- 1:43:30Speaker 5: you can ring in the theme also, yep, absolutely you can.
- 1:43:34Speaker 5: Oh my god, and it might have something to do
- 1:43:36Speaker 5: with this film, just throwing that at you. All right,
- 1:43:41Speaker 5: are we ready?
- 1:43:44Speaker 3: It's number one?
- 1:43:47Speaker 5: The first name Harvey ca Tell wow, wow, I know
- 1:43:55Speaker 5: The second name Hersharnin what yep?
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: I mean, I know what they're in. Okay, I should
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: guess right.
- 1:44:06Speaker 3: Now if you want to, but you can't guess again
- 1:44:08Speaker 3: if you get it wrong.
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: Man, that's tough.
- 1:44:10Speaker 5: There's three names remaining.
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: I'm so confused.
- 1:44:14Speaker 5: Number three Adrian Brodie, Grand Budapest.
- 1:44:20Speaker 3: Yep, say your name first.
- 1:44:21Speaker 5: You definitely got it right.
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: I'm supposed to ring in.
- 1:44:24Speaker 5: How do I do it, Daryl, Daryl, you were absolutely correct.
