Latest / The Uncensored Catholic / Show 197: The 7 Principal Virtues and vices, Chastity and Unchastity
Transcript
- 0:41Speaker 1: The f A. Hey, y'all, welcome this week's show. We'll
- 1:02continue the series we've been doing on the seven virtues
- 1:06and their opposite vices. Today will be getting into everybody's
- 1:12least favorite virtue. I think it's chastity. At least it
- 1:15is the hardest one for me, There's no doubt about that.
- 1:18But to start with, we'll go with a couple questions
- 1:22and answer some radio replies. We keep this brief because
- 1:25Father Sprago's section on chastity and on chastity is actually
- 1:30fairly long. So the questionaire asks the priests being tied
- 1:38to dogma, are you not the least fitted of all
- 1:40men to speak about religion? And they answer no. Other
- 1:43men give their personal opinions, which are not necessarily any
- 1:46better than the opinions of their fellow men. I am
- 1:49able to give the exact doctrine of Christ. And Christ said,
- 1:52my doctor is not mine, but he has sent me.
- 1:55The Catholic Church also says, my doctrine is not mine,
- 1:58but that of Christ, who sent me. One who has
- 2:01the infallible Catholic Church as a guide to save him
- 2:03from mistakes, is best fitted of all men to speak
- 2:07about religion. Person continues, do you honestly give your own
- 2:11opinion or the opinion of your church? And they answer it.
- 2:14In matters of history, I state historical facts, and since
- 2:18they are facts, they are my own belief. One question
- 2:20of faith, and on question of faith and morals, if
- 2:23the church has given any definite teaching, I give that teaching,
- 2:28and since it is true, it is of course my
- 2:31own conviction. Where the church has no definite teaching but
- 2:34leaves it to a free matter, I give what I
- 2:39consider the most probable explanation. Person says, why not preach
- 2:44charity instead of speaking always with self satisfaction of your
- 2:48only right dogmas? And they answer, with so many conflicting churches,
- 2:54it is a vital matter to find the truth. If
- 2:57the Catholic Church were self satisfied, she would be content
- 2:59to have the truth herself and not bother about those
- 3:02without it. As for charity, it is better to exercise
- 3:05charity than to talk about it. And there can be
- 3:08no greater charity than to point out the right road
- 3:11to those who have missed the track. Boy, that's something
- 3:14our culture has opposed to these days. One of my well,
- 3:21I guess she's still a friend girlfriend for a while
- 3:26turned out to be very liberal. She'd tell me that upfront,
- 3:29and a Lutheran and things fall apart for obvious reasons.
- 3:35But she thinks that I'm horribly judgmental for pointing out
- 3:40such things, as you know, the Bible says homosexuals aren't
- 3:44going to heaven. The Catholic Church teaches that it's a
- 3:48sinful behavior to engage in homosexual sex, or divorce. She
- 3:53thinks it's horribly judgmental that the Catholic Church forbids divorce.
- 3:59And I'm like, well, okay, what's better here? What do
- 4:04you think God would have us do? And what would
- 4:06you do in this situation? You see a blind person
- 4:09walking toward traffic or a cliff and they're about to die?
- 4:12Do you warn them or do you stay silent on it?
- 4:16If you stay silent on it, aren't you culpable. She
- 4:19can't accept that, cannot accept that whatsoever. And it's a
- 4:23shame because she's a beautiful little Barbie doll. I mean,
- 4:26she really is absolutely gorgeous, is what she is. But
- 4:30that's that all right now, moving on to Father spiago
- 4:37on under the topic of Chassi Chassis consists in preserving
- 4:42the mind and body, free from anything that might stain
- 4:46their innocence. Saint Stanislaus Costka left the room immediately if
- 4:52a single objectionable, objectionable word was uttered in his presence.
- 4:57Saint Alice wishes to the same. Many persons have given
- 5:01up all they had, even their lives, in order to
- 5:03preserve the virtue of chastity, witness Joseph in Egypt, Saint Agnes,
- 5:09Saint Agatha, and other saints. Chastity is a superhuman perfection.
- 5:13In other words, we can't do that one without God.
- 5:16It goes so against human nature. It is divine in
- 5:19its origin, for God brought it to earth from heaven.
- 5:23Those who practice the virtue are like the lily and wellchanticals.
- 5:28What's that song of song of Solomon? Song of songs?
- 5:31However you want to call it? Canicals two to one.
- 5:37Every tiny insect that rests upon the snowy petals of
- 5:40the lily mars its dazzling whiteness and disfigures its beauty.
- 5:45So the mere thought of evil is a stain upon
- 5:47the mind of a man who lives chastely. Rough handling
- 5:50spoils the fair lily because it causes it to wither.
- 5:54So the man who lives chastely suffers from indiscriminate intercourse
- 5:59with others around him hope, which she just means conversation.
- 6:02Of course, the lily grows upright straight and slender, so
- 6:07the man who lives chastely must ever look upwards and
- 6:10tend towards heaven. The lily fills the whole house with
- 6:13its fragrance. So the good man who lives chastely edifies
- 6:18all with whom he associates by his good example. Those
- 6:22who lead a chasse life resemble the angels and are
- 6:25most pleasing in God's sight. Those whose life is pure
- 6:29are angels in human form. Chastis is an angelic virtue.
- 6:32By it, men become like angels. Chase souls are in
- 6:36fact superior to the angels because they have the flesh
- 6:39to combat, which the angels have not. They preserve angelic
- 6:42purity in spite of the continual temptations of the devil.
- 6:46What differentiates an angel from men is not their virtue,
- 6:51but their bliss. The purity of the angels is more blissful.
- 6:54That of man is stronger because there's a result of struggle.
- 6:58We learn from the lives of saints that the angels
- 7:01delight in their company, that the angels delight in the
- 7:05company of chase mortals, thus proving that they regard them
- 7:08as their equals. The devil knows that through chastity man
- 7:12recovers the angelic dignity which he lost. Hence they strive
- 7:17assiduously to instill impure thoughts into his mind. Men who
- 7:21live chastly are extremely pleasing to God. God, when on
- 7:25the earth, showed a predilection for chase souls, he chose
- 7:28a pure virgin for his mother, a man of angelic
- 7:31purity for his falster father. The Baptist, who is purified
- 7:34in his mother's womb, was his precursor. The chase John
- 7:38was his favorite disciple, privilege at the Last Supper to
- 7:40rest upon his breast. At the foot of the cross,
- 7:43two pure innocent souls stood, and he loved little children
- 7:46because of their innocence. He that loveth cleanness of heart,
- 7:50shall have the King for his friend. Proverbs It's twenty
- 7:53two to eleven. God calls the chase soul by enduring
- 7:57title friend, sister, or spouse, and again Canticles for six
- 8:01through eight. The son of God so delighted in virginity,
- 8:05that he chose to be born of a virgin and
- 8:07to give to man an example of it in his
- 8:09own person. The pure also enjoy the esteem of their
- 8:12fellow men in a high degree. Even the heathen respects chassis.
- 8:16The Romans had their vestal virgins, who, during their service
- 8:20in the temple a period of thirty years, lived in celibacy.
- 8:23When they appeared on the streets, public honor was shown them,
- 8:26and if they chanced to meet a criminal on the
- 8:28way to execution, he was immediately pardoned. If pagans respected
- 8:32the daughters, if pagan's respected those of their daughters, who
- 8:36preferred virginity to the marriage, state ought the Christian to
- 8:39look with contempt upon the virgin who, from supernatural motives
- 8:43does not marry. Oh, how beautiful was the chaste generation
- 8:46with glory, for the memory of it is immortal, because
- 8:49it is known both with God and with men. That's
- 8:52wisdom for one. Those who lead a life of chassis
- 8:56possess the sanctifying grace that the Holy Spirit in abundant measure.
- 9:00They will be happy here on earth and will enjoy
- 9:02special distinction in heaven hereafter. Purity of heart is health
- 9:06of the soul. It also gives light to the understanding.
- 9:09The chaste are like a crystal without a flaw, or
- 9:12a clear, gently flowing stream in which the face of
- 9:15Heaven is mirrored. Purity of heart, interior brightness, and angelic
- 9:19freedom aid to the attainment of wisdom and imparts knowledge
- 9:23to servants and teachers, to philosophers and theologians. It was
- 9:26through his spotless purity that Saint John the Divine penetrates
- 9:30so deeply into the sublime mysteries of the faith, that
- 9:33in the commencement of his Gospel he soared us on
- 9:37Eagle's pinions to gaze upon the Godhead. Purity enables man
- 9:42to gaze undazzled upon the Son of Justice. It also
- 9:46endows the soul with heroic courage. Judith, the Weak Woman,
- 9:50displayed such heroism of the Siege of Bethulia that she
- 9:54went into the enemy's camp and beheaded Holofernes. Holy Scripture
- 9:58says of her, for thou hast done manfully, and thy
- 10:02heart has been strengthened because thou hast love chastity. That's
- 10:05Judith fifteen eleven. Oddly enough, I've found out recently that
- 10:11a lot of Protestant Bibles don't include the was it
- 10:14the Book of Judith? Yeah, yeah, I think they have Ruth. Yeah,
- 10:18they got Ruth, but no Judith. That's really strange because
- 10:22I mean even when I was a Protestant, I mean,
- 10:24we had a lot of old Bibles in the family
- 10:26and it was in ours, so you know, as far
- 10:29as I remember. Yeah. Anyway, the pure of heart easily
- 10:33acquires other virtues that are happy even in this world.
- 10:37Chastity possesses an indescribable attraction and intrinsic sweetness. It affords
- 10:43enjoyments far more delightful than sensual pleasures. Purity is also
- 10:47a health to the body. Virtual purity is an earnest
- 10:50and foretaste of the immortality of the glorified body. He
- 10:53who is chastely generally enjoys better health than lives to
- 10:56an advanced age. Sometimes God and his wise providence withdraws
- 11:00pure souls from earth and their youth. If so, he
- 11:03takes them away lest wickedness should alter their understanding or
- 11:07deceit beguile their souls. Wisdom four eleven. Another book the
- 11:11Protestants don't have in their Bible. You really would wish
- 11:15to have the Book of Wisdom, the Wisdom of Solomon,
- 11:19to whom it's attributed. Why wouldn't you want wisdom in
- 11:23your Bible. It's just I can't figure out why they
- 11:28threw that one out. But Martin Luther also wanted to
- 11:31get rid of the Book of James in the New Testament.
- 11:35He hated James for he wanted to get rid of
- 11:37revelations or the Apocalypse as he used to be called.
- 11:40He hated it. What are you going to do? Those
- 11:44who lead a chase life will enjoy special distinction heaven.
- 11:47Virginal souls will be near the throne of God. They
- 11:50will stand around the lamb and follow him whithersoever he goeth.
- 11:55They will singing a new chnicle that no man can say,
- 11:58that's apocalypse or Revelation fourteen. I believe God will crown
- 12:03the chase souls canticles four eight. Recently a Protestant told
- 12:08me that the Song of Songs or Songs of Solomon
- 12:11or canticles had no place in the Bible. He thought
- 12:13it was pornographic and should be taken out of the Bible.
- 12:17Aren't you glad we have an intact Bible at a
- 12:20church to guarantee it. I think it was. St. Augustine
- 12:24said he wouldn't even believe the Bible was true unless
- 12:28the Catholic Church guaranteed it. And that's because Jesus gave
- 12:31his authority to the Apostles, to the Catholic Church. He
- 12:36didn't leave us a Bible, he left us a church. Yeah.
- 12:40I had an interesting conversation with some Protestants over the
- 12:42past couple of days. They totally reject the authorities of
- 12:45the Apostles, even when you point out those words to them,
- 12:48And he ask them, how do you know the Bible's true?
- 12:51And they said, because it's the word of God. Who
- 12:53told you that? Who told you that? Well, it was
- 12:56a preacher. It was their parents who told them that.
- 13:00It was a preacher at their parents. All right, let's
- 13:02keep going back. Who originally told Christians that the Bible
- 13:06was the word of God would be the ones who
- 13:10wrote the books of the New Testament, and then of
- 13:12course the Council that officially I mean Saint Jerome, I
- 13:16mean he didn't even translate the whole Bible into a
- 13:18common language until the late three hundreds. I think it
- 13:22was like maybe four to twenty three or so. Was
- 13:24an Icea, where they said, this is the official Bible,
- 13:27and as the Catholic Church, we guarantee this to be
- 13:31the word of God. Their Protestants don't even have a
- 13:35religion without the Catholic Church. I mean, think about it,
- 13:38they'd have no Bible, but no one told them it
- 13:41was true without the Catholic Church. It's just bewildering, honestly,
- 13:50especially when you're talking with people from like fringe, really
- 13:54fringe groups. You know, these like Torah Observant and Seven
- 13:58day ad Venison, various ones, Church of God, and I
- 14:02mean some of their thinking is so twisted and weird.
- 14:09One of them we talked for probably a good hour,
- 14:14and I was proving to him that Christians go to
- 14:17church on Sunday using the early church fathers. And he
- 14:20said he could not believe that we weren't still bound
- 14:22by the law of Moses. So I went through Acts
- 14:25and Corinthians and all the book. I gave him quote
- 14:29after quote after quote after quote saying Christians aren't bound
- 14:32by the law of Moses, the Jewish law. And he said,
- 14:38but you know, I believe what the Bible says. I said, well,
- 14:42what does the Bible say is the pillar and foundation
- 14:44of the truth. He would not answer the question. And
- 14:48I said, well, Jesus, I mean the Bible says it's
- 14:50the church. This was St. Paul said. And I said,
- 14:55then Jesus said, if a man would not listen to
- 14:57the Church, let him be into you as a heathen.
- 15:00And he came back, that's not even in the Bible.
- 15:02And I said, Matthew and gave him the chapter and
- 15:06verse and he blocked me. And that was the end
- 15:10of the conversation. I mean, that was it. I said,
- 15:13you really don't know your Bible as well as you
- 15:15think you do. And see that's the problem. Anyway, Those
- 15:21who leader chase life will enjoy special distinction in heaven.
- 15:26Virginal souls will be near the throne of God, and
- 15:28they will stand around the lamb and follow him. Oh,
- 15:31we already do that whithersoever he goeth. Yes, I remember
- 15:35saying that God who crowned the chase soul, that is,
- 15:39he will confer upon them a special and singular glory.
- 15:43The chase generation, triumph, triumpheth forever wisdom four two. The
- 15:49virginal soul will have their portion with the blessed Virgin.
- 15:53Even here on earth, God chooses them as recipients of
- 15:56his revelations. To them, he discloses his seeks to their petitions.
- 16:01He turns a gracious ear queen esther obtained from her
- 16:05royal consort all that she asks because of her fidelity
- 16:10and attachment to him. So the heavenly spouse grants the
- 16:13petition of all chased souls. It is the bound in
- 16:17duty of every man to preserve chastity inviolate until he
- 16:22embraces the married state. Maybe the bound in duty, but
- 16:27I think ninety nine percent of us fall short that
- 16:30would say yes. This is enjoined by God and the
- 16:34sixth commandment of the Decalogue. Among the Jews, a breach
- 16:37of chastity was punished by stoning. Due Toonomy twenty two
- 16:40to twenty one. The Romans buried alive any vestal virgin
- 16:44who violated the vowel virginity. See how severe a penalty
- 16:48the law of Jews and Pagans inflicted upon those who
- 16:51outrage chastity. The following means should be employed for the
- 16:55preservation of chastity. We should be temperate a customer, selves
- 16:59to the extra self control, receive the sacraments frequently, pray
- 17:03devoutly to the Mother of God, meditate love, to meditate
- 17:07upon the truce of religion, especially upon the presence of
- 17:10God and the four last Things. Finally, we should observe
- 17:13moderation in frequenting the ballroom the theater, and be guarded
- 17:18in our intercourse with persons of the opposite sex. Saint
- 17:21Augustine declares that the preservation of chastity is the greatest
- 17:25victory achieved by the Christian and requires the hardest struggle.
- 17:31The fathers of the Church call it a martyrdom, a
- 17:33bloodless martyrdom, a white martyrm as they call it, it
- 17:37is true, but not on that account the less sublime.
- 17:41That's bloodless, it means it's still a martyrdom. It's still
- 17:44really good for the martyr's agony is short and admits
- 17:48him immediately to celestial glory. Whereas a safeguarding of chastity
- 17:52demands a prolonged and lifelong conflict. Self control has been
- 17:57enlarged upon under the head of the means of attaining perfection.
- 18:00In general, we may particularize the necessity of bridling the
- 18:06tongue and observing custody of the eyes. Saint Augustine says
- 18:10that tattlers and busybodies are in great danger of losing
- 18:13their purity. Death comes up into the soul through the
- 18:17window of the eyes. I guess it's Jeremiah nine twenty one.
- 18:21The lion is said to be tamed by blindfolding him,
- 18:24So we can subdue our evil proclivities by strict custody
- 18:27of the eyes. Fasting is another aid to the preservation
- 18:31of purity. The flesh is tamed just as animals are,
- 18:34by depriving them of food. Be not drunk with wines,
- 18:37says the apostle, wherein is luxury Ephesians five eighteen. Feasting
- 18:42foster's fleshly lusts, says Saint Ambrose Try, saying that five
- 18:46times fast and wine heats the blood and inflames the
- 18:49passion of young men. Prayer and sacraments are a means
- 18:53of grace, without which is impossible to conquer one's self.
- 18:57It is a mistake, says Saint John Christostom, to imagine
- 19:00that one can, in one's own strength, vanquish concupiscence and
- 19:04preserved purity. By God's mercy alone can the passions of
- 19:08nature be controlled. No man can otherwise be continent unless
- 19:12God give it to him Wisdom eight twenty one. That
- 19:16may be why Martin Luther hated the Book of Wisdom. Yeah,
- 19:21he was really big on extramurial affairs. He was probably
- 19:25an adulter himself. He encouraged his followers to commit adultry
- 19:30and accuse Jesus of committing adultery. And that's the founder
- 19:33of Protestantism. Yeah, real nice guy. Through confession and communion,
- 19:38the will of strengthened and the man as enabled to
- 19:41avoid sin. The adorable sacrament of the altar is the
- 19:44corner of the elect and a wine springing fourth and
- 19:50a wine springing forth Virgin zach Raiah nine seventeen. The
- 19:54wine of earth is prejudicial to purity. The wine of
- 19:57Heaven produces purity. Devotion to the Mother of God. God
- 20:00is also most efficacious to how many young people has
- 20:04it proved the means of maintaining themselves in innocence like
- 20:07the angels. Singary speaks of a disolete youth whom a
- 20:11priest and the confessional told to recite three ave marias
- 20:14every morning in honor of the immaculate purity of our lady.
- 20:17After some years, the young man returned the priest and
- 20:20informed him that to this practice he owed his complete conversion.
- 20:24Meditation upon the truce of religion destroys the taste for
- 20:27sensual pleasures. Walk in the spirit, and you shall not
- 20:31fulfill the loss of the flesh Galatians five sixteen. Those
- 20:34who delight themselves in God care for no other joys
- 20:37after tasting spiritual joys. Those of the earth are insipid
- 20:41and even abhorrent. He who remembers that God is present
- 20:44everywhere and sees everything will not do what is displeasing
- 20:47his sight. Witness the conduct of Joseph Genesis thirty nine
- 20:52to nine. I believe, and Susannah Dan thirteen thirty five.
- 20:58Do not deceive yourself with the hope your sins will
- 21:00remain hidden. For God is on the present, and from
- 21:03Him nothing can be concealed. In all ways, in all
- 21:07that works, remember Thy last in, and thou shalt never
- 21:09sin Ecclesiasticus seven. If the flame of impurity blazes up
- 21:17within you, think of eternal fire, and that thought will
- 21:19quench it. Saint Martina Martinian I guess a hermit and Palestine,
- 21:25was tormented by temptations, thrust his feet into the fire,
- 21:29And when he screamed with pain, he asked himself, since
- 21:32he could not bear that feeble flame, how could he
- 21:34endure the everlasting burning of hell fire. The subject of
- 21:38dancing and theater going has been treated of unrestrained and
- 21:42familiar intercourse with persons of the opposite sex. Too many
- 21:46are too many a source of danger. Undue familiarity between
- 21:50young men and women is likely to inflame the passions,
- 21:52as straw is to blaze up when brought into contact
- 21:55with the fire. One cannot be too careful in this respect.
- 21:58Love your own fireside. If a candle is to be
- 22:01kept alight, says Saint Thomas Aquinas, it must be put
- 22:04into a lantern. So if you mean to live chastely,
- 22:07beware of going too much abroad. And now we'll discuss
- 22:11the opposite of chassity, which is unchasty. Unchastity consisted thoughts, words,
- 22:16and deeds which are destructive of innocence. If the chase
- 22:19resembled a lily, the unchase resemble a thornbush, which tears
- 22:23one to pieces. It was in order to expiate the
- 22:27sins of impurity, that the Redeemer of the world suffered
- 22:30himself to be cruelly scorged and crown with thorns. Unchased
- 22:33persons are like the brute beasts. They are unlike God
- 22:36and displeasing to him, and are regarded with contempt by man.
- 22:40Impurity degrades man to the level of brute beasts. The
- 22:44unchas prefer the gratification of their lust to the joys
- 22:47of paradise. To them. The words of the Psalmists may
- 22:50be applied. Man, when he was in honor, did not
- 22:52understand he that hath been compared to senseless beasts and
- 22:56made like them. I don't remembers alm. That is pride
- 23:01is the sin of angels, Avarice the sin of man,
- 23:04and lasciviousness that of the brute. It is the most
- 23:06degrading to humanity, which is brought so near to the
- 23:09deity by the incarnation of the Son of God, to
- 23:12be unduly subject to any dominion but that of God.
- 23:16By unchasty, man loses his likeness to God. Through this sin,
- 23:20man defiles the image of God in which he was created,
- 23:23and commits a grievous offense against the most High. It
- 23:26is because no other sin defiles a man as this does,
- 23:29that is called by the name of impurity or uncleanliness.
- 23:33The unchased are extremely displeasing to God. In primitive ages,
- 23:36when mankind fell into various sins, even that of idolatry,
- 23:40God bore with them patiently. But when they fell into
- 23:42impurity and sank even deeper in that vice, their wickedness
- 23:46was so abhorrent to him that it repented him that
- 23:49he had made man upon the earth Genesis six six.
- 23:53Saint Philip Neary possessed the gift of discerning the chase
- 23:55from the unchased by the sense of smell to the
- 23:58former of sweet odor attached, whereas the latter stunk in
- 24:02his nostrils. Those who violate their chassis are thus spoken
- 24:06of by the prophet Jeremiah. How is the gold become
- 24:10dim the finest color has changed? The noble son of Simon.
- 24:13They were closed with the beath's gold, and they are
- 24:16esteemed as earthen vessels. They that were fed delicately have
- 24:20died in the streets Lamentations four, one, two five. The
- 24:24unchased lose the esteem of their fellow men. They are
- 24:27trodden upon as dung upon in the way Ecclesiasticus nine
- 24:31to ten. Unchased persons do not possess sanctifying grace at
- 24:35the holy ghosts. They are severely chastised by God in
- 24:39this life and after death are condemned to eternal perdition.
- 24:42The indulgence of evil lusts is a bate the devil
- 24:45throws out, and those who swallow the alluring morsel are
- 24:49drawn by him to destruction. The end of this sin
- 24:52is as bitter as wormwood and as sharp as a
- 24:55two edged sword Proverbs five to four. Saint Jerome declares,
- 25:00the fruits of the sin are more bitter than gaul
- 25:04since the unchased, or without the light of the Holy Spirit,
- 25:07their understanding is completely darkened. When man descends to the
- 25:10level of the beast, he loses that intelligence which extinguishes
- 25:14him from the brute. He becomes like the horse and
- 25:16the mule, which have no understanding Psalms thirty one to nine.
- 25:20The sensual man perceiveth not these things that are of
- 25:23the spirit of God one Corinthians two fourteen. Through yielding
- 25:27to this sin, King Solomon lost his wisdom and was
- 25:30so blinded by folly that he turned aside to the
- 25:33gods of the Heathens. Third Kings eleven. The will is
- 25:37weakened by the sin of impurity. It creates a sort
- 25:39of paralysis in regard to good works, and thus amendment
- 25:43is rendered most difficult with the unchased as a prisoner
- 25:47who has forged iron fetters for himself impurity as a
- 25:50sneer of the devil, and those who are caught in
- 25:53this net can hardly ever escape from its meshes. It
- 25:57leads moreover to many other sins jealousy, hatred, murder, et cetera,
- 26:01et cetera. The terrible consequences of this sin are seen
- 26:04in the case of Henry the eighth. It was the
- 26:06cause of his rupture with Rome and the apostasy of
- 26:09the English people. On Chassis is severely punished. In this life,
- 26:13peace of mind is lost. The bodily health has impaired.
- 26:16Every sin that a man doth is without the body.
- 26:19But he that committeth, But he that committeth fornication sinneth
- 26:24against his own body one Corinthians six eighteen. The voluptuary
- 26:29soon loses the bloom of youth and becomes prematurely aged.
- 26:34Special chastisements moreover overtake those who violate chassis. The dels
- 26:38was sent on earth on account of that sin. Genesis
- 26:41sixty seven, and the Lord rain down brimstone and fire
- 26:44upon Sonom and Gamara, because of the transgressions of the
- 26:47inhabitants in the same respect have become exceedingly grievous to
- 26:51him Genesis eighteen twenty. And if in the present day
- 26:55God does not visit impurity with the same condinned punishment,
- 26:59it is because as an infinitely fiercer fire, an infinitely
- 27:03more rigorous chastisement is reserved for sinners in our own time. Fornicators,
- 27:07we are told, shall not o possess the Kingdom of
- 27:09God first Corinthians six point nine. Neither fornicators nor unclean

- 27:27shall be taken away from the number Ecclesius nineteen thirty
- 27:34nineteen three. If you live according to the flesh, you
- 27:37shall die Romans eight thirteen. The gratifications momentary, the penalty
- 27:42is eternal. The best means of avoiding the sin of
- 27:44impurity is flight. Remember how Joseph acted in Genesis. What
- 27:50is that? Thirty nine? I think there are other means
- 27:52of avoiding the sins, such as the reception of the sacraments,
- 27:55devotion to the Mother of God. Yet best of all
- 27:57is instant flight from temptation, the Apostle said. The Apostle
- 28:02says that we ought to resist all temptations of sin,
- 28:06but from impurity. He bids us flea fly fortification First
- 28:10Corinthians six point eighteen. In battling with sensual temptations, cowards
- 28:15game the victory. They seek safety in flight. All right, y'all,
- 28:19we'll leave it there. We got one more virtue to go,
- 28:22and that'll be the next show, and it's zeal in
- 28:24what is good. That's the opposite of sloth, by the way,
- 28:30So we're about to wrap this one up. Have a
- 28:35great week, and I watad next time.
