- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:10Speaker 1: covering one piece episodes nine oh two, nine oh three,
- 0:15Speaker 1: and nine oh four. The Yokozuna appears, the Invincible Urashima
- 0:22Speaker 1: goes after Okiku, a climactic sumo battle, straw Hat versus
- 0:27Speaker 1: the strongest ever Yokozuna, and Loofy rages rescue Otama from danger.
- 0:37Speaker 1: In these episodes, Loofy says that he has never lost
- 0:44Speaker 1: a sumo match, which I have to assume is true
- 0:48Speaker 1: because I don't think he's ever done a sumo match, right,
- 0:51Speaker 1: Is this one of those like fay brags. Welcome to
- 0:58Speaker 1: spoil Me. Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Thank you very much to Florian for commissioning this episode. Yeah, y'all,
- 1:25Speaker 1: this is a really uh this is a group of
- 1:32Speaker 1: episodes that is certainly falling into a bit of the
- 1:36Speaker 1: pacing thing. I just don't really love watching the kind
- 1:47Speaker 1: of combat that we're specializing in here on this show.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Most of the time. It's I love to see Lufy whin.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I love to see Lufy put a bully in his place.
- 2:00Speaker 1: I love to see a woman who's a sword fighter.
- 2:03Speaker 1: So you know, I have been wishing and wishing that
- 2:05Speaker 1: we could have a woman character who actually does combat,
- 2:10Speaker 1: and I'm getting that, so I do not want to
- 2:14Speaker 1: be ungrateful for this progress. I'm super super pleased, but
- 2:20Speaker 1: when it comes to this type of I hit you,
- 2:26Speaker 1: you hit me, then I hit you again, then you
- 2:28Speaker 1: hit me again, and then I hit you again, and
- 2:30Speaker 1: then you hit me again, it really does start to
- 2:33Speaker 1: wear on me a little bit, you know, and I
- 2:39Speaker 1: begin to just sort of glaze over. I think, so
- 2:45Speaker 1: I don't. It's like I said, there's things that I
- 2:48Speaker 1: do like within this group of episodes, but I am
- 2:51Speaker 1: definitely not going to be going like beat by beat
- 2:54Speaker 1: through everything because a lot of it is simply the
- 2:56Speaker 1: types of moves that Loofy uses and the types of
- 3:00Speaker 1: moves that like Hurashima uses, And at one point he
- 3:04Speaker 1: uses a body satfa slap and I don't know why,
- 3:10Speaker 1: but that one really caught my imagination. I was just like,
- 3:13Speaker 1: isn't the whole thing with the like Bodysafa that he's
- 3:15Speaker 1: like serene and doesn't give in to like temper tantrums
- 3:20Speaker 1: and resort to violence and shit. But like, uh, I
- 3:24Speaker 1: think I have that wrong. I think that I just
- 3:26Speaker 1: don't really know what I'm talking about. So Saraphim says
- 3:31Speaker 1: there should have been a little info box or aside,
- 3:35Speaker 1: commenting that the sumo matches he's had were all with
- 3:38Speaker 1: oos up on the sunny. Oh okay, you know what, guys.
- 3:43Speaker 1: So Saraphim and Florian are here in the chat with
- 3:45Speaker 1: me today, which I really appreciate because there wasn't anybody
- 3:47Speaker 1: last time, and I had some questions and I this time,
- 3:53Speaker 1: I didn't mention this last time because there was nobody there.
- 3:57Speaker 1: But there are actually now that you mention it, info
- 4:01Speaker 1: boxes that pop up a lot, and the crunchy roll
- 4:09Speaker 1: does not translate them. There is no text below the
- 4:14Speaker 1: info box other than sometimes the character's name, but it's
- 4:20Speaker 1: very clear from the number of characters within the box
- 4:26Speaker 1: that is not just their name in that box, that
- 4:30Speaker 1: there is a bunch of other things like being listed,
- 4:33Speaker 1: and we do not get the translation on all of
- 4:37Speaker 1: the rest of that. So I had had a few
- 4:39Speaker 1: moments of being quite irritated because I remember back when
- 4:43Speaker 1: I was like One Piece has moved platforms a few times.
- 4:47Speaker 1: I believe I started off watching it on Hulu and
- 4:50Speaker 1: then it moved to Netflix, and now I'm on Crunchy Role.
- 4:53Speaker 1: It had been Fundimation and Hulu didn't do any translations
- 4:58Speaker 1: on certain parts, but Funimation did them, and I really
- 5:02Speaker 1: would have expected Crunchy Roll to do them, and they're
- 5:06Speaker 1: not doing it. So just a heads up. If there's
- 5:11Speaker 1: like info that's pretty important within that, y'all are gonna
- 5:14Speaker 1: want to let me know because I am not often
- 5:17Speaker 1: given anything Further, Seraphim says, but yeah, this one, this
- 5:25Speaker 1: one stretch of things is rather drawn out, far more
- 5:28Speaker 1: than needed. That one isn't even on you. The anime
- 5:30Speaker 1: really overdid the padding on the sumo fight, and Florian says, yeah.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Episode two is just one big fight. Seraphim says yeah,
- 5:38Speaker 1: but also enlightened enough to put some in their place
- 5:41Speaker 1: if needed. A boat of body soft life, I recall
- 5:44Speaker 1: is someone who achieved enlightenment enough to escape the cycle
- 5:46Speaker 1: of reincarnation, but chooses to remain in it to help
- 5:49Speaker 1: guide others. Oh, this is making me think of my
- 5:55Speaker 1: sometimes co host Rashan has said before that if there's
- 5:58Speaker 1: an afterlife, she's going to be really pissed because she
- 6:01Speaker 1: wants the nothingness that was promised and just wants to
- 6:05Speaker 1: be able to rest and the idea of like I
- 6:09Speaker 1: could simply not reincarnate and have to do this all
- 6:12Speaker 1: over again, but I'm going to stay like she would
- 6:15Speaker 1: just be like what ew no. Florian says, they also
- 6:20Speaker 1: tell you the devil fruit, as far as I know,
- 6:23Speaker 1: in the boxes. Okay, okay, I'm so glad that you
- 6:27Speaker 1: brought up these boxes guys, because I like, I forget
- 6:30Speaker 1: about them when I'm actually talking about the episodes because
- 6:33Speaker 1: There's been so many other things going on that I've
- 6:35Speaker 1: wanted to talk about more. But there is a kind
- 6:39Speaker 1: of centaur girl character in this group of episodes, and
- 6:43Speaker 1: her box, like I said, does not get translated, but
- 6:46Speaker 1: there is one word at the very end of all
- 6:48Speaker 1: of the characters that's in English, and it just says smile.
- 6:52Speaker 1: So my assumption when I saw that is like her
- 6:56Speaker 1: powers come from a smile fruit, and that's what it
- 7:01Speaker 1: is that we're being told, is that she has eaten
- 7:05Speaker 1: one of the artificial ones, and that's where this all
- 7:07Speaker 1: is coming from. Saraphim says, Yeah, the ODA boxes tend
- 7:12Speaker 1: to have a lot of info, and yeah, she has
- 7:13Speaker 1: a horse smile. It's kind of funny because like the
- 7:19Speaker 1: way that she's illustrated when she laughs and her ears
- 7:23Speaker 1: and stuff. It's much more giving donkey even than horse.
- 7:28Speaker 1: But uh, I think that's just like the goofiness aspect.
- 7:32Speaker 1: She is really so okay. Now, I kind of want
- 7:36Speaker 1: to go like screenshot all of the characters and the
- 7:40Speaker 1: boxes that turn up and get you guys to give
- 7:42Speaker 1: me the lowdown because I feel like I've really been
- 7:44Speaker 1: missing out here. But uh, all right, So backing things up,
- 7:51Speaker 1: we are entering this town and there is a dude
- 7:57Speaker 1: that just comes flying at us, Like I was sort
- 8:01Speaker 1: of thinking, here's an attack, but it looks like Bro
- 8:08Speaker 1: has just been chucked by Hiroshima during the fight. So
- 8:16Speaker 1: what I am given to understand? First of all, I
- 8:19Speaker 1: must address this also, guys, as much as it fucking
- 8:25Speaker 1: galls me, I don't think there's any mention of whether
- 8:31Speaker 1: or not that couple that own the restaurant cooked their
- 8:35Speaker 1: raccoon or not. I would really like it confirmed or
- 8:40Speaker 1: denied whether or not that raccoon was cooked. Please, we
- 8:45Speaker 1: just end that scene, and then when we come back,
- 8:51Speaker 1: it's a whole fucking outdoor like fight theater thing, and
- 8:58Speaker 1: we have skipped over the harassing of like regular individuals
- 9:02Speaker 1: for a much more formal setup for a fight. So
- 9:08Speaker 1: I don't know what all happened in the middle there,
- 9:14Speaker 1: but I had been really thinking that we were going
- 9:17Speaker 1: to be getting more of a definitive response about that,
- 9:21Speaker 1: and we don't. And I just need to register. I
- 9:26Speaker 1: need that information. This isn't a want, Okay, I really
- 9:31Speaker 1: need to know, and I would like it if all
- 9:33Speaker 1: of you would let me know at least if we
- 9:37Speaker 1: get that confirmation later, even if it's a spoiler. Don't
- 9:41Speaker 1: tell me the result, just let me know if I
- 9:43Speaker 1: find out. You know, Florian says, Oh my god, have
- 9:48Speaker 1: you all seen this little raccoon who is small? Yes,
- 9:51Speaker 1: you are talking about Jimothy, I believe is the way
- 9:54Speaker 1: he's being called. He has a weirdly shaped raccoon. Now
- 9:59Speaker 1: you all know that I raccoons, and you would think
- 10:01Speaker 1: that this would be right at my alley. But I've
- 10:03Speaker 1: got to admit that he falls into the cryptid category
- 10:05Speaker 1: for me and kind of creeps me out. I won't
- 10:08Speaker 1: deny that he is cute at times, but there are
- 10:11Speaker 1: other photos of him that I find deeply unnerving. So
- 10:16Speaker 1: your mileage may vary. It's a very I you know,
- 10:26Speaker 1: but yeah, so this fight is I mean, it just
- 10:32Speaker 1: sort of It's not that this isn't like set up,
- 10:39Speaker 1: because there is like a full stage and audience and everything,
- 10:45Speaker 1: so it feels like there is some official quality to this.
- 10:52Speaker 1: But there's also because of how very recently this dude
- 10:56Speaker 1: was just harassing that the restaurant owners, Like I really
- 11:01Speaker 1: thought that that had been happening almost simultaneously with us
- 11:05Speaker 1: running towards the town. So the feeling that I got, Oh,
- 11:12Speaker 1: Sarahim says, wiki has no information and I don't recall
- 11:15Speaker 1: it ever coming up again. So given this is oda,
- 11:17Speaker 1: Loofy's showing up saved him. No one in one Piece
- 11:20Speaker 1: is dead till you see a corpse. That's true. I'll
- 11:22Speaker 1: accept that he's not dead, but uh, Louviys showing up
- 11:26Speaker 1: can't have saved him because Hiroshima is over here. Is that?
- 11:30Speaker 1: Did I just say Hiroshima? Oh my god? That was Hiroshima?
- 11:35Speaker 1: Oh my god, oh boy. Everybody would just just this
- 11:40Speaker 1: never happened. He is like in the midst of a
- 11:45Speaker 1: full on series of matches that like have clearly been
- 11:52Speaker 1: going on for a minute. So Louvie can't have saved
- 11:55Speaker 1: him because that was going on evidently a while ago
- 12:00Speaker 1: this point it's not you know, so I don't know.
- 12:03Speaker 1: It was just sort of a weird time thing where
- 12:07Speaker 1: I took for granted that the timing was something, and
- 12:12Speaker 1: even if I allow that there was slightly more time
- 12:16Speaker 1: than I thought, it still wouldn't really be enough for
- 12:20Speaker 1: us to have so fully transitioned into a completely different
- 12:23Speaker 1: activity at this point. So it's a weird thing that
- 12:28Speaker 1: just genuinely confused me because I thought that was going
- 12:32Speaker 1: to be what happened would be that Loofy turning up
- 12:35Speaker 1: is what saves the raccoon, and then for us to
- 12:39Speaker 1: not even be in the restaurant anymore. Russima is in
- 12:44Speaker 1: his sumo garb, and it is like evidently on his
- 12:50Speaker 1: twelfth fight or something. I just got real confused and
- 12:54Speaker 1: had a moment of like, wait, hold on, hold on.
- 12:58Speaker 1: So this dude has evidently like issued an open invitation
- 13:07Speaker 1: for anybody who wants to go up against him to
- 13:10Speaker 1: do so, and it remains surprising the takers that he's
- 13:17Speaker 1: getting because this is I mean, he has injured a
- 13:21Speaker 1: lot of people really really badly. There comes a point
- 13:25Speaker 1: later where a guy is tallying up the number of injuries,
- 13:31Speaker 1: like specifically bones broken. I did find this really funny
- 13:36Speaker 1: because the guy says something like and uh, I think
- 13:41Speaker 1: like eleven spinal columns. Maybe he says everything very definitively,
- 13:48Speaker 1: but then once it gets to like the spine, he's
- 13:51Speaker 1: just sort of ah about that maybe and is so
- 13:54Speaker 1: much less certain. But yeah, the fact that people are
- 14:02Speaker 1: dealing with the intense injuries that they are and then
- 14:04Speaker 1: there are still folks willing to step up and come
- 14:07Speaker 1: at him. I mean, I guess I just could never
- 14:11Speaker 1: once you see that many people laid low. The one
- 14:14Speaker 1: thing I could potentially understand is you see all these
- 14:19Speaker 1: people laid out, and then you think to yourself, oh,
- 14:22Speaker 1: he's gotta be tired now. And so you go in
- 14:24Speaker 1: there feeling like he has finally begun to flag and
- 14:28Speaker 1: maybe you stand a chance because of sheer exhaustion on
- 14:32Speaker 1: your opponent's part, which is like a little bit of
- 14:36Speaker 1: a dirty tactic, but it's like acceptable. If a guy
- 14:39Speaker 1: is gonna come out here and challenge literally anybody, you've
- 14:42Speaker 1: got to accept that, dude, that that's going to be
- 14:45Speaker 1: a technique. Somebody employees, you know. So this whole thing
- 14:52Speaker 1: is absolutely like what I'm feeling from this because setting
- 15:00Speaker 1: aside the weirdness of the timing from the last scene
- 15:04Speaker 1: where we saw Urashima, this dude had just been being
- 15:09Speaker 1: gassed up by that weird mouseman. I feel like that
- 15:16Speaker 1: sentence sounds so fucking unhinged if there's no context for it.
- 15:23Speaker 1: But yeah, this mouse man is telling him as like, essentially,
- 15:29Speaker 1: you're too strong and famous and rich and powerful to
- 15:34Speaker 1: worry about what anybody says about what you're doing. You
- 15:37Speaker 1: officially get to do what you want. And thus, what
- 15:43Speaker 1: I sort of took from this scene is that this
- 15:47Speaker 1: hadn't like been gonna be an official fight. It was
- 15:50Speaker 1: that Urashima was sort of like amped up from that
- 15:56Speaker 1: conversation and had decided to test, Yeah, I am unstoppable
- 16:02Speaker 1: and I'll prove it and set this up sort of
- 16:07Speaker 1: spur of the moment because of the fact that he
- 16:10Speaker 1: was feeling invincible. I'm not sure if that is actually true,
- 16:16Speaker 1: because again, the timing is like a real weird thing here,
- 16:20Speaker 1: but I just want to share that's how I interpreted
- 16:24Speaker 1: it when we ran across it was that this was
- 16:26Speaker 1: something that he was simply doing as a means of
- 16:29Speaker 1: like showing off because he was really high on himself
- 16:32Speaker 1: in this moment, and like I said, I may be
- 16:36Speaker 1: very wrong about that. It's fine, and it doesn't honestly
- 16:39Speaker 1: matter either way what this actually is. If it's like
- 16:42Speaker 1: an official match that was scheduled in YadA YadA or
- 16:45Speaker 1: what it, it's just irrelevant. But because the timing was such,
- 16:51Speaker 1: that's how I was seeing it initially, and now when
- 16:53Speaker 1: I think about it, I'm like, that doesn't feel likely.
- 16:58Speaker 1: So yeah, Urushima is like a building and there are
- 17:07Speaker 1: these wrestlers coming at him and they're just normal ass guys.
- 17:15Speaker 1: They're clearly experienced, capable wrestlers, they're clearly strong. But Ururushima,
- 17:27Speaker 1: it's like you're riding a mountain bike and you decide
- 17:34Speaker 1: that you can go headfirst into an eighteen wheeler and
- 17:40Speaker 1: maybe come out of it. Okay, you're not even in
- 17:45Speaker 1: the same species list of vehicle anymore. Just can you
- 17:51Speaker 1: tune into reality for a moment. What are you fucking thinking?
- 17:55Speaker 1: This is bananas? The two dudes come at him at once,
- 18:00Speaker 1: and it's they They run into him. It does nothing.
- 18:07Speaker 1: The one guy says he's like a wall, and I
- 18:12Speaker 1: couldn't help but kind of laugh because Rashima is in
- 18:17Speaker 1: that squat that prepped like, okay, bring it on kind
- 18:21Speaker 1: of position, right, And when they back up and the
- 18:25Speaker 1: guy says he's like a wall, it really feels like
- 18:29Speaker 1: Rashima is waiting for them to make another move and
- 18:34Speaker 1: then realizing that the way they had just come at
- 18:38Speaker 1: him was what that was the whole plan, And so
- 18:42Speaker 1: he has almost a similar reaction to me where I'm
- 18:45Speaker 1: watching this and I'm literally like, hold on, was that
- 18:48Speaker 1: the whole that was the only method that you guys
- 18:51Speaker 1: were going to employ was simply just running at him?
- 18:54Speaker 1: You are not even a fifth his size? Why would
- 18:58Speaker 1: you think that would work? And Russiama was looking at
- 19:01Speaker 1: them with this sort of like almost confused, Is that
- 19:06Speaker 1: all you've got? And I was like, I also have
- 19:09Speaker 1: this question, dudes, just in simple physics, if he were
- 19:15Speaker 1: an an inanimate object that wasn't even going to fight
- 19:20Speaker 1: back against you, I don't see you being able to
- 19:24Speaker 1: knock him over because you just don't even have like
- 19:27Speaker 1: any leverage or anything. But you're over here like thinking
- 19:33Speaker 1: that this nothing is gonna it's I just there's almost
- 19:40Speaker 1: a feel from Russima's face of like real frustration and
- 19:45Speaker 1: disappointment at the fact that they did. They wasted his time,
- 19:50Speaker 1: you know in this really like, oh, I thought I
- 19:53Speaker 1: was going to get an actual challenge and a fight,
- 19:57Speaker 1: and you brought me this, and it's the best you
- 19:59Speaker 1: have to offer. And that is such a fucking pathetic display.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I'm embarrassed for you, and I'm irritated that I even
- 20:06Speaker 1: have to deal with you right now. And I don't
- 20:09Speaker 1: ever want to say that. I see his point, but
- 20:12Speaker 1: I can't help but say it here because it's just
- 20:16Speaker 1: you know, so anyway, uh, like I said, these these
- 20:23Speaker 1: dudes get fucking trounced the level to which he like,
- 20:30Speaker 1: it's it's a slap. One of them just gets slapped
- 20:34Speaker 1: a mile away. It I just feel like, how do
- 20:41Speaker 1: you ever hold your head up again after that? You know?
- 20:44Speaker 1: So there's a also I want to mention. I know,
- 20:49Speaker 1: I'm kind of like, I'm kind of jumping around here
- 20:53Speaker 1: with the with the events of these episodes, but I
- 20:56Speaker 1: think that's fine considering how a lot of it is
- 20:59Speaker 1: just the same thing over and over. But Rashima is
- 21:06Speaker 1: about to go up against these dudes, and we see
- 21:09Speaker 1: some women in the audience who are like cheering him on,
- 21:14Speaker 1: and they're really obviously like fangirls, and later when he
- 21:22Speaker 1: sees a Okiku, he's like, Oh, I'm so glad that
- 21:28Speaker 1: you accepted my invitation. I knew you would have a
- 21:33Speaker 1: change of heart and realize that you wanted to marry me.
- 21:37Speaker 1: I love the fact that her simply turning up here
- 21:40Speaker 1: he interprets as accepting a marriage proposal, which is just wild,
- 21:47Speaker 1: but of course you would, because the man is a maniac.
- 21:51Speaker 1: She tries to hide behind Zora, and Zorro's like, uh,
- 21:54Speaker 1: you are way too big for that to work, and
- 22:00Speaker 1: everybody like you know, he is super excited and happy
- 22:03Speaker 1: and calling out to her, And then we find out
- 22:06Speaker 1: that there are all of these women in the audience
- 22:09Speaker 1: who are super jealous and wish that they were going
- 22:13Speaker 1: to be marrying this guy themselves, which I actually really
- 22:17Speaker 1: appreciate is a detail because I forget frequently that the
- 22:22Speaker 1: things I consider desirable in a partner are not the
- 22:28Speaker 1: things that matter to everyone. I am. I have my
- 22:34Speaker 1: own priorities, and I think they're healthy, good priorities, but
- 22:39Speaker 1: they are not necessarily everybody's priorities, and there are going
- 22:44Speaker 1: to be people who have a whole other set of
- 22:48Speaker 1: requirements for their partner, And so we hear one lady
- 22:52Speaker 1: who's just like literally yelling I want a rich husband
- 22:57Speaker 1: and is like chewing the front of her kimono in
- 23:01Speaker 1: frustration because she's so unspeakably jealous that he is going
- 23:06Speaker 1: to be going for this woman instead of her. Evidently,
- 23:10Speaker 1: it's very much like as long as he's single, I
- 23:13Speaker 1: could have a chance. In the way that K pop
- 23:15Speaker 1: stars are discouraged from having personal relationships, or if they do,
- 23:20Speaker 1: they have to keep them really dl and not be
- 23:22Speaker 1: seen in public because them actually being with somebody is
- 23:26Speaker 1: ruining the fantasy for their fans. And it's just, you know,
- 23:33Speaker 1: like I can acknowledge that we all have our different
- 23:36Speaker 1: things that we care about and that we are looking for,
- 23:39Speaker 1: but it's so a guy like this is gonna hit you,
- 23:47Speaker 1: like he's so obviously going to solve things by hitting you.
- 23:51Speaker 1: And I guess there are just people who would see
- 23:55Speaker 1: it as a fair trade off, like, yeah, he's gonna
- 23:58Speaker 1: hit me, but I'll be rich, So how bad could
- 24:04Speaker 1: it possibly be, you know, And like, considering the poverty
- 24:09Speaker 1: of a lot of the people in the neighboring village
- 24:11Speaker 1: and whatnot, the concern about just being able to survive
- 24:18Speaker 1: is very real, but it doesn't seem like anybody in
- 24:21Speaker 1: this village really seems to need to worry about that,
- 24:24Speaker 1: So it does feel like it's more of a greed
- 24:26Speaker 1: thing here. That said, I will you know, the manosphere
- 24:35Speaker 1: has been rampant with dudes complaining about how some women
- 24:40Speaker 1: only care about how much money a man makes and YadA, YadA, YadA.
- 24:45Speaker 1: And the thing is, those same men are the ones
- 24:48Speaker 1: who want a traditional wife, which means they want a
- 24:52Speaker 1: woman who, once she gets pregnant, she stops working. She
- 24:55Speaker 1: stays home and cares only for the children and for him.
- 24:58Speaker 1: She makes dinner, cleans the house, and manages everything. And yeah, dude,
- 25:02Speaker 1: if that's what you're looking for in a female partner,
- 25:06Speaker 1: you are going to need to prove that you have
- 25:08Speaker 1: the funds to support that lifestyle because that costs. It
- 25:16Speaker 1: costs money for one person to be working, and it
- 25:21Speaker 1: costs money also for her to maintain her figure, which
- 25:25Speaker 1: you allege is very important to you. It costs money
- 25:28Speaker 1: for her to get whatever like refreshers in plastic surgery
- 25:32Speaker 1: and fillers you want if it's important to you that
- 25:34Speaker 1: she keep looking good. And dudes just really want it
- 25:39Speaker 1: all without having to offer fucking anything bare minimum Anyway,
- 25:47Speaker 1: these ladies who are jealous, I just really want to, like,
- 25:54Speaker 1: I want to have an opportunity to set them up
- 25:59Speaker 1: with or Orushima and have a moment to see. My
- 26:05Speaker 1: belief is that Urushima is in this place right now
- 26:08Speaker 1: where he is really focused on Ukiko and wants her
- 26:13Speaker 1: explicitly because there is something in her that he can
- 26:17Speaker 1: see isn't bowed or impressed by him. I think that
- 26:21Speaker 1: this is like a kind of subconscious thing that happens
- 26:25Speaker 1: with a lot of guys, is they are they can
- 26:29Speaker 1: sense that a woman is sort of like has a
- 26:34Speaker 1: self confidence to her and a surety, and they are
- 26:41Speaker 1: drawn to that not because they respect her or see
- 26:45Speaker 1: her as a full person, but because they have this
- 26:51Speaker 1: dominance thing in their personality and they want to bring
- 26:55Speaker 1: her low. So I feel like something in him can
- 27:01Speaker 1: tell that she's more than she seems and wants to
- 27:06Speaker 1: subdu that, and that's part of the appeal with her.
- 27:11Speaker 1: And I would like to test this by having him
- 27:13Speaker 1: go out with like these women who are impressed by him,
- 27:17Speaker 1: who admire him and would like to do anything to
- 27:22Speaker 1: please him, and see if my theory is born out
- 27:28Speaker 1: that actually won't hold his interest for very long, because,
- 27:32Speaker 1: like my initial instinct was to say, he has such
- 27:37Speaker 1: a huge ego that if these women were to go
- 27:40Speaker 1: on a date and like swoon over him, maybe that
- 27:45Speaker 1: would be appealing and he would sort of lose interest
- 27:50Speaker 1: in Ukiko. But the more I think about it psychologically,
- 27:53Speaker 1: I think the fact that she doesn't swoon is what
- 27:57Speaker 1: interests him. And when people talk about like playing hard
- 28:02Speaker 1: to get, what I said about the way he wants
- 28:06Speaker 1: to subdue the spirit in her is part of what
- 28:10Speaker 1: makes the playing hard to get thing a really no
- 28:13Speaker 1: win situation, because if guys are drawn to that, I
- 28:19Speaker 1: think it's usually for the wrong reasons. It's like there
- 28:22Speaker 1: is the instinct of like, I will take this this
- 28:29Speaker 1: being who is free and cage them, and that will
- 28:34Speaker 1: feel like I really accomplished something. And thus the woman
- 28:38Speaker 1: either gets to be caged and that's her reward and
- 28:42Speaker 1: so nothing after, like he loses interest and starts taking
- 28:48Speaker 1: her for granted, or she continues to try and fight
- 28:52Speaker 1: against the cage, which if they are in like a
- 28:56Speaker 1: long term relationship, will start to count against her and
- 28:59Speaker 1: he will see her as less desirable as time goes on,
- 29:02Speaker 1: and the very thing that interested him is going to
- 29:03Speaker 1: be what repels him anyway. I'm so sorry about going
- 29:09Speaker 1: off on this tangent y'all, but you know, I just
- 29:11Speaker 1: the psychology of men I do find sort of compelling
- 29:16Speaker 1: sometimes in a really like what's the word I want?
- 29:22Speaker 1: It's like you have a dark curiosity about it that
- 29:26Speaker 1: you kind of want to leave alone and not pursue,
- 29:29Speaker 1: but there's another part of you that just really wants
- 29:32Speaker 1: to know. And it's sort of almost like a self
- 29:38Speaker 1: protective thing as a woman, where it's like, maybe if
- 29:40Speaker 1: I can figure out the psychology behind why they do this,
- 29:44Speaker 1: I will be able to keep myself from being harmed
- 29:47Speaker 1: by that behavior. It's very much like a control freak
- 29:50Speaker 1: instinct in me at least anyway. So I just all
- 29:58Speaker 1: of this to say the fact that there are women
- 30:00Speaker 1: who are very into him it should not have surprised me,
- 30:03Speaker 1: but it did. And I just why can't you just
- 30:07Speaker 1: go for those ladies and leave Ukiko alone? But he
- 30:11Speaker 1: can't do that? And uh, this she is such a
- 30:19Speaker 1: fucking g here. I the announcer is taking for granted
- 30:25Speaker 1: utterly that Ukiko is his fiance, because why would this
- 30:32Speaker 1: man be yelling about how she's accepted his proposal from
- 30:35Speaker 1: the stage with like hearts pouring off him. If that
- 30:40Speaker 1: isn't what happened. So the announcer is just like, you know,
- 30:43Speaker 1: saying this out loud to everybody, and she is watching like,
- 30:49Speaker 1: oh my god. And Zora looks at her and just
- 30:53Speaker 1: like really, and she says no. He is completely deluded.
- 31:00Speaker 1: So she says, I'm not gonna budge, absolutely uninterested, and
- 31:11Speaker 1: Zorro smiles and is just like, all right, copy that now.
- 31:16Speaker 1: I'll be honest. There was a little part of me
- 31:19Speaker 1: that was sort of keeping an eye on Zorro to
- 31:22Speaker 1: see if I saw a flicker of interest from him.
- 31:26Speaker 1: Zorro has not shown any interest in anybody at all
- 31:34Speaker 1: that I can recall, right, romantically obviously, I mean, And
- 31:39Speaker 1: I was sort of thinking, like, she's pretty, she sword fights,
- 31:45Speaker 1: she's independent, is it possible that he could be into her?
- 31:52Speaker 1: And I really when she said like, when he said
- 31:56Speaker 1: really and she said no, I was very much on
- 32:00Speaker 1: high alert, like, okay, is he saying really? Because he's
- 32:04Speaker 1: also a little bit jealous and relieved when she says no.
- 32:09Speaker 1: But I've got to be real. It feels not like
- 32:14Speaker 1: there's interest from him at all. It really feels purely
- 32:17Speaker 1: like he said, really because I wouldn't have expected that
- 32:20Speaker 1: from you. You seem smarter than that, And her saying
- 32:23Speaker 1: like absolutely not and him being pleased is just more
- 32:27Speaker 1: about I knew you didn't sound like an idiot, you know,
- 32:30Speaker 1: so a little bit like it's not even really that
- 32:35Speaker 1: I'm I want Zoro to be into anybody exactly, It's
- 32:41Speaker 1: just that when they're when you have a character like
- 32:44Speaker 1: Zorro who is so stoic all the time and so reserved,
- 32:50Speaker 1: often it can be really really fun to see them
- 32:56Speaker 1: a little bit out of their element in terms of
- 33:00Speaker 1: the way they're feeling and thus the way they're behaving.
- 33:03Speaker 1: And you know, like, I wouldn't mind seeing a Zoro
- 33:10Speaker 1: who is in love and how that would like manifest
- 33:16Speaker 1: from him, because I can't even really imagine it. He's
- 33:19Speaker 1: so practical so much of the time, and I just don't,
- 33:24Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, so I don't. Yeah, it's
- 33:27Speaker 1: not even really about Ukiko and me being like, oh
- 33:30Speaker 1: my god, but they'd be so good together, like I
- 33:32Speaker 1: felt that way with Sanji and Pudding because their personalities
- 33:38Speaker 1: actually went together really really well. But with this it's like,
- 33:43Speaker 1: I mean, I could take her leave Ukiko. At this point,
- 33:46Speaker 1: she seems cool and I'm really excited to have like
- 33:49Speaker 1: a fighter, but in a personal sense, I don't care.
- 33:53Speaker 1: It's much more like I would love to see how
- 33:57Speaker 1: Zoro behaves when he's in love and just get to
- 34:02Speaker 1: have a bit of a goofiness come from him that
- 34:04Speaker 1: we don't get most of the time. So this is
- 34:10Speaker 1: when Lufy stops stands up on the lion Dog's head
- 34:15Speaker 1: and he starts yelling that he wants to talk to
- 34:20Speaker 1: whoever has o Tama and do you guys know who
- 34:26Speaker 1: the boss is, because we want to talk to whoever
- 34:29Speaker 1: that is. And Lufy finally jumps down from the lion
- 34:35Speaker 1: and is just like because nobody responds, and says, all right, fine,
- 34:39Speaker 1: we'll just go find her ourselves. And when they jump down,
- 34:43Speaker 1: a bunch of dudes circle them, and it turns out
- 34:47Speaker 1: they have been sent to grab Okiku and like take
- 34:53Speaker 1: her over to Urashima, which of course he would say that.
- 34:58Speaker 1: So we have a series of of fight fight, fight, fight, fight,
- 35:02Speaker 1: and then there finally comes a point where Urashima is like,
- 35:08Speaker 1: all right, you know what I think I'm over it,
- 35:12Speaker 1: and she decides that she is going to step up.
- 35:19Speaker 1: She goes she's she's brought over to the ring and
- 35:23Speaker 1: he tells her to leap into his arms, which can
- 35:27Speaker 1: you imagine, And as she's standing there, a bunch of
- 35:32Speaker 1: folks are like they are realizing who she is and
- 35:36Speaker 1: that they recognize her and that she comes from the
- 35:38Speaker 1: town full of poor people and are talking about how
- 35:42Speaker 1: she's way low class to be here. One of them
- 35:44Speaker 1: says something like I knew she was a tramp the
- 35:47Speaker 1: second I saw her, and just begin like really talking shit.
- 35:54Speaker 1: And it's interesting because Urashima is looking around, he can
- 35:58Speaker 1: clearly hear everybody, and I was sort of like, how
- 36:02Speaker 1: is he going to react to this, because a part
- 36:05Speaker 1: of me wondered if he was going to take it
- 36:07Speaker 1: back and be like, actually, the way everybody is reacting
- 36:11Speaker 1: signals to me that she is below me and I
- 36:15Speaker 1: shouldn't give her the time of like he would be
- 36:17Speaker 1: peer pressured into sort of retracting his interest, but instead
- 36:22Speaker 1: he yells that they are all fucking peasants who are nothing,
- 36:31Speaker 1: and he sees them as dirt under his feet and
- 36:36Speaker 1: that they're basically alive because he lets them be alive.
- 36:40Speaker 1: And I could kill you if I wanted. You're you know, like,
- 36:46Speaker 1: and I just choose to spare you, and you should
- 36:48Speaker 1: be fucking grateful to me. And it's very funny because
- 36:53Speaker 1: everybody's expressions are just so shocked, and I'm like, this
- 36:56Speaker 1: guy has made it really clear the way he feels
- 36:57Speaker 1: about pretty much everybody, so I feel like this shouldn't
- 37:00Speaker 1: be a shock. But they're seeing who they want to see,
- 37:03Speaker 1: and he This is what I really really appreciated because
- 37:10Speaker 1: what I was sort of like, or is he going
- 37:13Speaker 1: to defend Okiku and be like, she's just as good
- 37:15Speaker 1: as any one of you and your idea of like
- 37:19Speaker 1: class is, you know, like if there was going to
- 37:23Speaker 1: be something that's almost redeeming. Instead, what he does is
- 37:31Speaker 1: he manages to just denigrate everybody else and make it
- 37:34Speaker 1: clear that he sees them as even more inferior. So
- 37:39Speaker 1: he somehow manages to do both things that like he's
- 37:46Speaker 1: not even really standing up for her, he's standing up
- 37:51Speaker 1: for himself and his own choice and making it much
- 37:56Speaker 1: more about the fact that they would question who who
- 38:00Speaker 1: he chooses, then making it about the fact that they
- 38:04Speaker 1: are judging her for where she comes from. And I
- 38:09Speaker 1: just think that's a really interesting way to thread the
- 38:13Speaker 1: needle and make it like, Oh, he wants what he wants,
- 38:16Speaker 1: and he's gonna do what he wants. But that's because
- 38:19Speaker 1: of his own reasons, and it's not because he's like
- 38:22Speaker 1: standing up to popular opinion exactly so much as popular
- 38:26Speaker 1: opinion he doesn't even register as something that is relevant
- 38:30Speaker 1: to him because he's so above it all. And you know,
- 38:35Speaker 1: it's just I don't know. I think that it wouldn't
- 38:40Speaker 1: have occurred to me to have him play it this way.
- 38:44Speaker 1: I really like it because an option like this, like
- 38:48Speaker 1: I said, I don't think it would have occurred to me.
- 38:50Speaker 1: And there's so many there are so many things I
- 38:54Speaker 1: think as our society is growing a little bit more
- 39:01Speaker 1: aware about the inequities, like racially, in terms of gender,
- 39:08Speaker 1: there's all kinds of things that we use to make
- 39:10Speaker 1: ourselves feel better than other people. And I think that
- 39:15Speaker 1: there was a real tendency in the past where if
- 39:18Speaker 1: somebody simply did X, everybody was like, oh, because they
- 39:23Speaker 1: think why is bad, and so they must be doing
- 39:26Speaker 1: the right thing and that makes them a good person.
- 39:31Speaker 1: And we're beginning to understand that, like, there are plenty
- 39:34Speaker 1: of reasons why somebody would choose X over Y that
- 39:36Speaker 1: have nothing to do with doing the right thing. Like,
- 39:41Speaker 1: I know this is a wild example to pull right now,
- 39:43Speaker 1: but I'm gonna do it because it just came up
- 39:45Speaker 1: on a podcast with me and Rashaan where we were
- 39:47Speaker 1: talking about Abraham Lincoln and he gets celebrated for setting
- 39:51Speaker 1: the slaves free. But the man had said, very definitively,
- 39:55Speaker 1: if he could have gotten away with keeping slavery and
- 39:59Speaker 1: preserved the union, he would have done so. He did
- 40:02Speaker 1: not care about slaves. He was not concerned. It was
- 40:07Speaker 1: purely about everybody is going to keep throwing a fuss
- 40:13Speaker 1: if we don't do away with this, and so my
- 40:16Speaker 1: hands are tied. But it wasn't really about, like I
- 40:19Speaker 1: believe in in the personhood of slaves and that they
- 40:23Speaker 1: are equals. He flat out said he did not see
- 40:25Speaker 1: them that way. But historically we have still been like, oh,
- 40:30Speaker 1: he freed the slaves and he was like about civil right,
- 40:32Speaker 1: and it's just not true. We just he was doing
- 40:36Speaker 1: what he did for his own very specific reasons that
- 40:39Speaker 1: we have decided to turn into a sort of heroic act.
- 40:44Speaker 1: And uh, I just thought like, because I was watching
- 40:47Speaker 1: this moment and I was like, Okay, there's only two choices.
- 40:50Speaker 1: He caves or he stands up for her, and Otto's like, no, no, no,
- 40:56Speaker 1: there's a whole other thing that's different, that's like still
- 41:00Speaker 1: completely all about him and his ego. And I was like, oh, yeah,
- 41:03Speaker 1: I didn't even I don't even think of that one.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Sarahim says, Okay, the Zoro thing isn't attraction. It's something
- 41:13Speaker 1: that really doesn't translate at all. What he's reacting to
- 41:16Speaker 1: is the way she said I Japanese has tons of
- 41:19Speaker 1: pronouns with various meanings and nuances. The eye she used
- 41:23Speaker 1: here is very archaic that is traditionally used only by samurai.
- 41:27Speaker 1: That's what caught his attention. Sounds like the dub just
- 41:30Speaker 1: kind of tossed in whatever they could to fill the
- 41:33Speaker 1: time without having to explain all that. I think, Sarah
- 41:40Speaker 1: Em what you're referring to actually was in the last
- 41:43Speaker 1: three episodes, because there was like a moment where she
- 41:47Speaker 1: says mine instead of mine in a very archaic way,
- 41:52Speaker 1: and he says mine and sort of gives her a look.
- 41:57Speaker 1: So I think that's what you're talking about. But here
- 42:01Speaker 1: it was more. That's not the scene I'm talking about here.
- 42:04Speaker 1: This is about her reacting to Iroshima saying that they
- 42:09Speaker 1: are engaged, very definitively in her being like fuck no.
- 42:14Speaker 1: So I was trying to determine from that whether or
- 42:18Speaker 1: not he was like at all into her, and how
- 42:21Speaker 1: like whether his reaction of relief was about him being
- 42:24Speaker 1: personally interested the other thing that was last time. But yeah,
- 42:30Speaker 1: so and he goes on to say, ignore those vermin
- 42:35Speaker 1: and be mine, and then has heart eyes and is
- 42:38Speaker 1: coming at her with his lips puckered up in such
- 42:41Speaker 1: a way that I think it's supposed to be a kiss,
- 42:43Speaker 1: but like actually looks a lot more like a baby
- 42:48Speaker 1: trying to like nurse. It's extremely unnerving. And she says,
- 42:53Speaker 1: I do not see vermin. I see people who are
- 42:57Speaker 1: trying to survive, and she crouches and puts a hand
- 43:01Speaker 1: on the hilt of her sword as he comes at her,
- 43:05Speaker 1: jumps into the air and slices his top knot off, which,
- 43:13Speaker 1: if I am not mistaken, is a wildly humiliating thing
- 43:18Speaker 1: to fucking happen. I mean, it's obviously framed as this
- 43:23Speaker 1: within the episode, but from what I understand traditionally, and
- 43:28Speaker 1: she calls him a vulgar beast. The only filth before
- 43:34Speaker 1: me is thine own heart. That is a fucking poem.
- 43:43Speaker 1: The only filth before me is thine own heart. My goodness,
- 43:51Speaker 1: I just loved it so so much, guys. Her cutting
- 43:56Speaker 1: is fucking I mean, damn. And later on she says
- 44:01Speaker 1: something like she's watching the fighting break out and she's
- 44:03Speaker 1: like I don't know what to do. Oh no, And
- 44:06Speaker 1: I love Zoro being like, quit it with the act.
- 44:09Speaker 1: You can obviously take care of herself. And I was like,
- 44:11Speaker 1: thank you, because after what she just did, how is
- 44:15Speaker 1: she going to be like oh oh why and like
- 44:18Speaker 1: clutch at her pearls, like we didn't just see what
- 44:20Speaker 1: we fucking saw. We know now the jig is up?
- 44:24Speaker 1: What are you doing? So anyway, obviously, Urashi is pretty upset,
- 44:34Speaker 1: and all of the townsfolk are like, not only oh
- 44:40Speaker 1: my god, I can't believe that that just happened to
- 44:43Speaker 1: him in terms of his hair, but also she really
- 44:46Speaker 1: just fucking rejected him in front of everybody in like
- 44:49Speaker 1: the most brutal way one could imagine. And Zoro is
- 44:55Speaker 1: down there thinking, all right, well, what we've done is
- 44:58Speaker 1: definitely going to attracts attention, So I have no doubt
- 45:01Speaker 1: the boss that's got oh Otama is probably going to
- 45:06Speaker 1: be coming for us any second. And then Urashima turns
- 45:13Speaker 1: and he looks at Okiku and he decides that he
- 45:17Speaker 1: is going to attack her. And it's a weird thing
- 45:21Speaker 1: because he's gonna attack her. Now, Guys, I don't you
- 45:32Speaker 1: know that scene in Austin Powers where that guy is
- 45:37Speaker 1: like yelling no as the steamroller comes for him, but
- 45:44Speaker 1: he's like thirty feet away, and it just feels like
- 45:49Speaker 1: he has a lot of opportunity to simply step left
- 45:53Speaker 1: two or three feet and just simply not be run over.
- 45:59Speaker 1: I know that this is just like the choice within
- 46:02Speaker 1: the animation, but it's a really weird choice to make,
- 46:07Speaker 1: considering we just saw Okiku sail through the air and
- 46:13Speaker 1: cut his topknot off in one motion like it was nothing.
- 46:18Speaker 1: We have her just fucking standing there with her hands up,
- 46:24Speaker 1: being like, you wouldn't hurt a woman, And then when
- 46:28Speaker 1: he decides that he's gonna fucking hit her, her being like, oh,
- 46:33Speaker 1: you would hit a woman, And as he begins to
- 46:38Speaker 1: hit her, she's just sort of gaping and has her
- 46:42Speaker 1: hands up in a mild sort of like no no,
- 46:47Speaker 1: but doesn't draw her weapon or do anything to defend herself.
- 46:55Speaker 1: I don't understand this. Why are we doing it like this?
- 47:00Speaker 1: We obviously can handle herself. For what reason? Is it
- 47:04Speaker 1: just her standing and staring with her mouth open? I
- 47:08Speaker 1: think it was like I think maybe it's just worth
- 47:13Speaker 1: seeing it all in slow motion, and so it feels
- 47:16Speaker 1: like she has all this time where she's just gaping
- 47:19Speaker 1: at him. But even so, the way we just saw
- 47:23Speaker 1: her move, I trust that even if this were in
- 47:27Speaker 1: slow motion, she'd have been out of the way, you know,
- 47:33Speaker 1: and her like holding her hands up, and she's trying
- 47:36Speaker 1: to reason with him. She says something like, let's not
- 47:39Speaker 1: be hasty, and he looks down and she says, you
- 47:45Speaker 1: really are the kind of beast who would strike a woman,
- 47:49Speaker 1: and he calls her a low born harlot. So he
- 47:56Speaker 1: comes his hand is coming at her. It's very clear
- 47:59Speaker 1: that he's going to do the same kind of like
- 48:01Speaker 1: slap or grab or something I don't know, and allmost
- 48:08Speaker 1: grabs her before Loofy jumps into the way. Now, this
- 48:13Speaker 1: is kind of where my problem is is that if
- 48:17Speaker 1: it is in slow mo, then Loofy is like moving
- 48:22Speaker 1: at normal speed. So I don't know, it's just weird. Like, uh,
- 48:28Speaker 1: Saraphim says, yeah, she's still trying to underplay her skill.
- 48:33Speaker 1: Why why Like we saw everybody saw it. You did
- 48:39Speaker 1: it in front of a huge audience. You're not fooling anyone.
- 48:42Speaker 1: It's just confusing, now, you know. I think you're right
- 48:46Speaker 1: that that's what it's supposed to be. But it's just
- 48:49Speaker 1: a weird choice to do that, especially like later on
- 48:52Speaker 1: with Zoro being like quit the act. I was like, yeah,
- 48:56Speaker 1: thank you, because I don't understand how she think she
- 49:00Speaker 1: can just do take back seats on the incredibly bonkers
- 49:04Speaker 1: thing she did. Anyway, So, uh, Lufy does sumo slap
- 49:14Speaker 1: back at him with his giant rubber hand, and it
- 49:19Speaker 1: sort of like creates a shock wave the two of
- 49:21Speaker 1: them coming at each other in this way. I as
- 49:27Speaker 1: soon as I saw that there was a sumo fight
- 49:30Speaker 1: going on as they were coming in, I'm like, well,
- 49:31Speaker 1: obviously Lufy is going to have to get into this.
- 49:35Speaker 1: It's interesting though that the tone of it is pretty
- 49:38Speaker 1: much Lufy is so excited to fight and is like
- 49:43Speaker 1: smiling throughout a lot of it. Don't get me wrong.
- 49:46Speaker 1: I know that Lufy tends to smile during fights anyway
- 49:49Speaker 1: a lot of the time, you know, but it is
- 49:52Speaker 1: is just there's really a sense of like, this isn't
- 49:55Speaker 1: exactly necessary, I'm just having a good time that I
- 50:00Speaker 1: wasn't expecting. I thought he was gonna come at this
- 50:03Speaker 1: with a lot more of like an angry vibe. And
- 50:07Speaker 1: so the episode like ends with the two of them
- 50:10Speaker 1: hitting each other with equal force, and once we get
- 50:14Speaker 1: into the other the next episode, it's like the force
- 50:17Speaker 1: was such that they each all most are pushed entirely
- 50:22Speaker 1: out of the ring, which I'm assuming is like part
- 50:26Speaker 1: of the way like sumo wrestling works is that you
- 50:31Speaker 1: are trying to get somebody shoved out of a certain
- 50:38Speaker 1: range of space so that both of them are balanced
- 50:45Speaker 1: on the edge, wind milling their arms, trying to stay
- 50:48Speaker 1: within the lines, and they just barely manage to do it.
- 50:54Speaker 1: And then fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, lots
- 50:58Speaker 1: of fighting. We cut for a while over to Otama
- 51:06Speaker 1: and she is being pinched with pinchers as they're trying
- 51:10Speaker 1: to like get her power to manifest. I got the
- 51:14Speaker 1: answer to my question, which was like if she if
- 51:17Speaker 1: they just do this is it automatically going to create
- 51:19Speaker 1: like you know, a mochiball or whatever, and evidently not.
- 51:24Speaker 1: It's just like they're just I don't know. Maybe he's
- 51:26Speaker 1: it's because he's going for the wrong cheek, but I
- 51:30Speaker 1: don't know, and it's sort of like I think that
- 51:37Speaker 1: this is also part of why the fight didn't grip
- 51:42Speaker 1: me too much, is the fact that I know that
- 51:44Speaker 1: she's like being tortured. Essentially, to go from this great
- 51:51Speaker 1: distress of this little girl to Louviy who's having the
- 51:55Speaker 1: time of his life fighting a sumo battle that really
- 51:58Speaker 1: doesn't even need to be it was really for me
- 52:02Speaker 1: feeling like this is so indulgent, sir, Can you please
- 52:06Speaker 1: keep your eyes on the fucking prize and get it done.
- 52:09Speaker 1: I understand that we don't exactly know where to head
- 52:11Speaker 1: right now, but anything would be more productive than doing this.
- 52:17Speaker 1: I was just like, dude, not now, she's literally got
- 52:23Speaker 1: adults gripping her up and yanking at her with pinchers.
- 52:28Speaker 1: Can we focus? But of course we can't because Lufy
- 52:32Speaker 1: has ADHD and so he just sees this fight and
- 52:36Speaker 1: it's just playtime. And I was just like, okay, fine,
- 52:40Speaker 1: but can Zoro bring him back down to earth and
- 52:44Speaker 1: remind him what the fuck we have to do. Like
- 52:46Speaker 1: you know, eventually there does kind of come a point,
- 52:49Speaker 1: but it was just not enough in my opinion. We
- 52:55Speaker 1: also have a brief sojourn over to uh Trafalgar Law
- 53:02Speaker 1: and he is upset with Beppo because Bepo ate a
- 53:07Speaker 1: fish that was in the poisoned river water. And Bepo
- 53:11Speaker 1: is like, I'm so sorry, please forgive me. And as
- 53:14Speaker 1: he says that, Trafalgar looks at him and there's like
- 53:17Speaker 1: all of these little sparkles and it's meant to be that.
- 53:20Speaker 1: Like Bepo is using his adorableness to charm his way
- 53:25Speaker 1: out of being in trouble, which does not work for
- 53:29Speaker 1: the record, but it was very cute and very funny
- 53:34Speaker 1: that he's just like, don't try and get your start
- 53:36Speaker 1: your cuteness with me. So anyway, Loofy winds up chucking
- 53:46Speaker 1: Urashima practically a mile away. It's humiliating, and then he
- 53:54Speaker 1: turns to all of the townsfolk and is like, tell
- 53:57Speaker 1: me who's in charge. We want to fight your boss,
- 54:01Speaker 1: and it's weird. Nobody like it's not weird because he
- 54:11Speaker 1: was warned I think Ukiko says something like as they're
- 54:14Speaker 1: coming in, Zoro asks, why don't we just stop and
- 54:19Speaker 1: ask somebody where we should go? And she's like, they're
- 54:21Speaker 1: never gonna talk to us, so nobody here offers up
- 54:26Speaker 1: any information. And there comes a point later on where he,
- 54:32Speaker 1: like Lufy, grabs this guy and is just demanding from him,
- 54:35Speaker 1: like what's the name of your boss? And the dude
- 54:40Speaker 1: is gasping out, and he gasps out in such a
- 54:47Speaker 1: way that Lufy like mishears him and thinks that he
- 54:53Speaker 1: is saying like Balden something like that. And so we
- 54:59Speaker 1: have now the thing where Loofy is mispronouncing or completely
- 55:04Speaker 1: misunderstanding somebody's name. It's a classic Loofy classic. I'm not
- 55:11Speaker 1: mad at it, but again, I was so annoyed with
- 55:15Speaker 1: him at this point, with the fact that he had
- 55:16Speaker 1: wasted so much time. It felt like that I was
- 55:20Speaker 1: really not giving him a lot of grace. I'll be honest.
- 55:23Speaker 1: I was like, please, sir, and he's just sort of
- 55:28Speaker 1: casting about asking everybody and yelling out the name of
- 55:31Speaker 1: this guy, which is totally incorrect. Eventually, hold him, here's
- 55:36Speaker 1: the commotion, and there's you know, him looking at the
- 55:39Speaker 1: wreckage of all the houses that uh freakin' what's his
- 55:44Speaker 1: face got chucked through and it's just it's like a
- 55:49Speaker 1: comet came to you know what I mean. It's just
- 55:51Speaker 1: like he's there's a trench going through a big section
- 55:56Speaker 1: of the town. So he decides that he is going
- 56:02Speaker 1: to grab Outama and go find out what the fuck
- 56:06Speaker 1: is going on, and like meet movie. At this point,
- 56:12Speaker 1: we have the introduction of this horse girl. I know
- 56:17Speaker 1: that that's like not actually her name, but I am
- 56:24Speaker 1: you guys all understand the deal with names and this show,
- 56:27Speaker 1: and that it's just general speed is what this guy
- 56:32Speaker 1: calls her. I suppose considering that she is a centaur,
- 56:37Speaker 1: she's probably pretty fast. Her deal is that she has
- 56:44Speaker 1: a three hundred and fifty degree range of vision, so
- 56:47Speaker 1: she doesn't need to turn around, which she's pretty interesting,
- 56:54Speaker 1: and you know, it makes it so that like trying
- 56:56Speaker 1: to sneak up on her or anything is just pointless.
- 56:59Speaker 1: I can't help but be like, that's still all ten degrees,
- 57:07Speaker 1: you know, just like internally just well it sounds like
- 57:09Speaker 1: a weakness to me, But she is a very interestingly
- 57:14Speaker 1: designed character. Considering that she is in the face does
- 57:20Speaker 1: look like all of the other female hot characters, but
- 57:23Speaker 1: then when she laughs, she is made to look very goofy.
- 57:27Speaker 1: It's just funny because, like mostly in this show, if
- 57:32Speaker 1: a lady's hot, she's hot, and that sort of never changes.
- 57:35Speaker 1: But this one has definitely got her moments of being like,
- 57:38Speaker 1: oh boy, her face just did something real weird there,
- 57:42Speaker 1: you know. And she's coming in and looking at the
- 57:45Speaker 1: marketplace that's evidently got lots of like, what's the word
- 57:50Speaker 1: I want? There's lots of options today, and she is
- 57:55Speaker 1: like excited about it. I didn't really get. She's yelling
- 57:59Speaker 1: at some guy who is doing gymnastics on top of
- 58:06Speaker 1: Holdham's mansion. I don't understand what's happening here. I'm gonna
- 58:12Speaker 1: be very honest with you. All the townsfolk are like
- 58:16Speaker 1: cheering around this fire that has started, and I don't
- 58:22Speaker 1: understand why they're cheering or what this dude in particular
- 58:28Speaker 1: is doing. I feel like I miss something here. Seraphim
- 58:35Speaker 1: says Speed. All the headliners are named after card games. Oh,
- 58:41Speaker 1: I didn't know there was a game named Speed. There's
- 58:43Speaker 1: a game named Hawkins, and what are the other ones?
- 58:50Speaker 1: Hold them like Texas hold them? I see that I
- 58:53Speaker 1: don't remember the other ones. Oh Orien says firefighters in
- 59:01Speaker 1: old Japan used to put on a show more than
- 59:07Speaker 1: making the fire go away. Oh my god, I look,
- 59:15Speaker 1: this is just me bringing my very American ness to
- 59:18Speaker 1: the equation, which I understand is like problematic. But if
- 59:22Speaker 1: I were watching my home burned down and there were
- 59:27Speaker 1: a bunch of people applauding a gymnast putting on a
- 59:32Speaker 1: show above the wreckage of my life burning away, I
- 59:39Speaker 1: would really feel a fucking way about that. I that's
- 59:47Speaker 1: all I'm gonna say. That's all I'm gonna say. Wild Okay.
- 59:54Speaker 1: So she is looking out and is seeing all of
- 59:58Speaker 1: the wreckage of everything and is saying, like the sumo
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: event can't have been the cause of this. Something's wrong,
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: Which it's funny because she's like both correct and incorrect.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: It's not just the sumo thing, but that is exactly
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: what caused it, if you want to be extremely pointed
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: about it. And uh, bald baldema, baldema, I think is
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: what Loofy keeps calling hold him and hold him. Turns
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: up and they're the way that he's got a tama
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: gripped in the teeth of the lion, So Loofy kind
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: of has the same reaction to the lion that I
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: had of just like what the fuck? What? Hold on? What?
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: And I have to say that if the characters in
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: the world of One Piece are startled enough to notice
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: that something's really weird, then it's really weird. Like then
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: it's really weird because shit does not phase a lot
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: of them that is extremely weird in my book. You know, oh,
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: Seraphim says, other than Hawkins because he had a name already.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: The other ones are Sheep's Head and gin Rummy. I
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: remember Sheep said, I feel like I remember you guys
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: even telling me that it was a card game thing
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: now actually and me being like, Sheep said's a game.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: So there's evidently lots of games that I'm just totally
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: unaware of. Edo period, firefighters were local celebrities, and rival
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: companies would have wars over who got what turf. Also,
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: firefighting at the time was less about putting out the
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: fire and more quickly tearing down enough houses around the
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: fire to keep it contained. I mean, even so, God
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: Florian says, smile, lion fruit is the one that he
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: ate that hold a mate. If I ate a lion fruit,
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: and this is the result. I think I would feel
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: pretty ripped off. I'm not gonna lie. This isn't what
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: I wanted. I would want to transform into a lion
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: myself or have lion like strength or something, but I
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: just have like the front end of a lion hanging
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: off my middle that likes to punch me in the balls.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: These smile fruits just should really come with some like
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: safety warnings anyway, all right, I want to make sure
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: because like I'm over time here, so I'm just trying
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: to see. But yeah, it pretty much just ends with
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: Loofy like facing off with him and Otama in the
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: lion's mouth crying for help, and that's pretty much it.
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: So yeah, I am looking forward to the next group
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: of episodes. But I'm really hoping that it's not like
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: just a fistfight again, because it looks like it might
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: just be, and I hope if it is, it's like
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: a little bit varied and more interesting than this last one.
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: That's okay, all right, I'm gonna wrap up. Thank you
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: guys again for hanging out with me. I appreciate you
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: very much, and I will see you next week. To
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: the lou motherfuckers. That was an unspoiled network podcast.
