1:56
Speaker 3: coming up with Chef Paul. We'll talk about that. Plus,
1:59
Speaker 3: we have a gardener here as we do every Friday
2:02
Speaker 3: from the Cannell Charlestey Main Association with this week's Adopt
2:05
Speaker 3: Me Please Pet of the Week calls and text. Are
2:07
Speaker 3: welcome to kind of historic day here in the Palmar
2:11
Speaker 3: Store studio because this is the last day that will
2:13
Speaker 3: actually be in this particular studio. Like the Jeffersons, we
2:17
Speaker 3: are moving on up or in this case down come Monday,
2:21
Speaker 3: we're going to be in our new temporary home downstairs
2:24
Speaker 3: here at eleven eleven. It's a temporary home because we're
2:26
Speaker 3: getting all new digs up here, complete with TV cameras,
2:30
Speaker 3: lights and more. Chris Lawrence, you're looking forward to this,
2:33
Speaker 3: aren't you. Man?
2:34
Speaker 5: Oh yes, I've been in radio thirty five years now,
2:38
Speaker 5: a little over thirty five years. I have never ever
2:42
Speaker 5: in my career worked in a brand new studio, So yeah,
2:45
Speaker 5: Monday will be a milestone event in my career.
2:48
Speaker 3: And this studio, I mean and I we talked about
2:50
Speaker 3: it a little bit on their not with the listeners
2:52
Speaker 3: necessarily care, but they are, you know, we have total
2:55
Speaker 3: redo here, so they're moving us downstairs into one of
2:58
Speaker 3: those new studios.
2:59
Speaker 5: And that's going to be the transition studio for everybody
3:01
Speaker 5: in the building. Everybody will rotate through that studio until
3:05
Speaker 5: the last rebuild is done. And I think it's your boy,
3:09
Speaker 5: Steve Animal in the Mountain is going to get it.
3:11
Speaker 5: He'll be the last guy in there, and then he'll
3:13
Speaker 5: never leave. That's because that's where he will be locked
3:15
Speaker 5: up and kept because it'll be trashed. It'll be beer
3:18
Speaker 5: cans all if it's not before then, he will definitely
3:22
Speaker 5: be good thing. He's the last one.
3:24
Speaker 3: Do you use it? Yeah? Absolutely, will smell like bad
3:26
Speaker 3: decisions exactly. Well, all right, so you're here to talk
3:29
Speaker 3: about high school football. Last night, Tom Bragg and Matt
3:32
Speaker 3: Murphy had the call of the Hoover Winge game. That
3:34
Speaker 3: was kind of a blowout, as we kind of unfortunately
3:36
Speaker 3: for Wayne. We kind of thought it would be Hoover
3:39
Speaker 3: improved to I think six and oh.
3:41
Speaker 5: Yeah they're six and oh and your Joey feels on
3:43
Speaker 5: the morning news talking about it, and it was a
3:46
Speaker 5: they're really in a in a in just a mode
3:51
Speaker 5: now to try and host a couple of playoff games.
3:53
Speaker 5: That's sort of their goal at this point.
3:55
Speaker 3: Stay healthy.
3:56
Speaker 5: Yeah, they like to they'd like to host at least too,
3:59
Speaker 5: maybe even replayoff games and then just drive to Charleston
4:02
Speaker 5: for the title said which which you know this year,
4:04
Speaker 5: that's what they would do.
4:05
Speaker 3: Let's talk about the game that you and Aaron Parker
4:07
Speaker 3: have to name.
4:08
Speaker 5: Well, we've got Hurricane, who's number nine in Class Quad
4:11
Speaker 5: A taken.
4:11
Speaker 3: On Triple A.
4:13
Speaker 5: Capital Capital is two and three, but they are a
4:16
Speaker 5: team that is, you know, dangerous because they've got a
4:19
Speaker 5: lot of skill. However, most of their you know guys
4:22
Speaker 5: are young and they're just learning. But man, they've got
4:25
Speaker 5: the raw talent there, as Capital always does. John Carpenter
4:28
Speaker 5: is the coach again. He's back in charge there and
4:31
Speaker 5: he's starting to get them believing in themselves and starting
4:34
Speaker 5: to feel their oads and many they'd like nothing more
4:37
Speaker 5: than to get a win and go to a three
4:39
Speaker 5: and three on the season with a victory over Hurricane.
4:42
Speaker 5: That'll be a tall order because obviously Hurricanes got it's
4:45
Speaker 5: mojo working as well. They took care of business last
4:49
Speaker 5: week against Saint Albans and they seem to have everything
4:52
Speaker 5: moving in the right direction. They felt real comfortable with
4:55
Speaker 5: They kind of used last week's game against Saint Albans
4:58
Speaker 5: almost as an extra workout to get some things done
5:00
Speaker 5: and work out some kinks, and they felt pretty good
5:03
Speaker 5: about that. Tyshawn Dues, their standout wide receiver, didn't even
5:07
Speaker 5: play last week. He had a little bit of turf
5:09
Speaker 5: toe from the week before, so he got a rest.
5:11
Speaker 5: He'll be back in action, I think tonight and shell
5:14
Speaker 5: Lee Campton, They're other wide out, has really been lights out.
5:17
Speaker 5: So if anybody can match up with these guys, definitely
5:20
Speaker 5: Capital has the skill to do it, but do they
5:22
Speaker 5: have the experience? And that'll be the question we're trying
5:25
Speaker 5: to answer tonight. Novella timebe the quarterback at Hurricane Is.
5:28
Speaker 5: He's been lights out as well, so look for him
5:30
Speaker 5: to have a big evening. And I'm looking forward to seeing.
5:32
Speaker 5: Speaking of new Digs, because they are now hosting the
5:36
Speaker 5: state high school football championships, they've done a lot of
5:39
Speaker 5: work over at Ladleyfield University of Charleston Stadium, including a
5:42
Speaker 5: rebuild of the press box and and and anybody who
5:47
Speaker 5: is familiar with that area, it used to be a
5:50
Speaker 5: big open air, you know, rooftop broadcast facility. They've kind
5:54
Speaker 5: of divided that up and that's where we'll be coming
5:56
Speaker 5: to you from tonight, and I'm told I've not seen
5:58
Speaker 5: it yet, but I'm told by several people have done
6:00
Speaker 5: games there that it's looking really nice over there.
6:03
Speaker 3: That sounds good. The weather is going to be perfect
6:05
Speaker 3: fall weather because we really haven't had I don't think
6:08
Speaker 3: we've had a Friday night that actually felt like fall.
6:11
Speaker 3: But it's I felt last week. Last week was closed, okay,
6:13
Speaker 3: because when I stepped out of the house this morning,
6:15
Speaker 3: I was like, gets down right cold. Oh yeah, I was.
6:17
Speaker 5: I was looking at that grass in these boat and
6:19
Speaker 5: going die die, Come on, frost, just do it for me,
6:22
Speaker 5: just kill it all.
6:23
Speaker 3: So it is going to be great weather tonight for
6:25
Speaker 3: that Hurricane and Capital matchup, and of course we'll have
6:28
Speaker 3: all the coverage here starting at one time.
6:30
Speaker 5: We'll be on there at seven following sports Line. The
6:32
Speaker 5: kickoff is at seven thirty from Ladley Field.
6:34
Speaker 3: Let's talk about West Virginia doors tomorrow Weekenin.
6:36
Speaker 5: You know, a couple of weeks ago, I went to
6:38
Speaker 5: the West Virginia Trappers convention at Glenville and I got
6:42
Speaker 5: a few interviews there. I'm going to put those together
6:44
Speaker 5: tomorrow for a pre produced show, but really good information
6:50
Speaker 5: those trappers man, those guys know the woods better than anybody.
6:52
Speaker 5: So we'll talk about trapping for the most part and
6:55
Speaker 5: hoping to get an update. We talked about this right
6:57
Speaker 5: after Hurricane Helene. You know, blue Stone Down was full
7:01
Speaker 5: of debris and was almost up was well above Summer Pool.
7:05
Speaker 5: All that's filtering down through the New River. How is
7:08
Speaker 5: that impacting fishing? Because this is a great time of
7:10
Speaker 5: year to be fishing the New River. I'll talk to
7:12
Speaker 5: my buddy Larry Nybert with the West Virginia Experience tomorrow.
7:15
Speaker 5: He's going to give us an update on where things
7:17
Speaker 5: stand as far as fishing on the New River goes tomorrow.
7:19
Speaker 5: So that'll be uh, that'll be part of the broadcast
7:21
Speaker 5: tomorrow as well.
7:22
Speaker 3: Look forward to that, Chris, I appreciate next time we
7:24
Speaker 3: talk will be in a new studio.
7:26
Speaker 5: Well yeah, let's hope.
7:28
Speaker 3: That's the plan, and we may be setting up out
7:30
Speaker 3: front outside.
7:31
Speaker 5: We may have a couple of tin cans and a
7:33
Speaker 5: piece of string out in the strout on Virginia Street
7:35
Speaker 5: here and or a megaphone, just trying to get as
7:37
Speaker 5: many people as we can. Although if we had a
7:40
Speaker 5: megaphone out in the parking lot, that would probably be
7:42
Speaker 5: equally your listenerships.
7:44
Speaker 3: So other's that. Yeah, Yes, that's nice, Chris, thanks a lot.
7:47
Speaker 3: And no, because you're a Hall of Famer doesn't mean
7:48
Speaker 3: you can talk to me that.
7:49
Speaker 5: I give you. I give you the best audience you
7:52
Speaker 5: have coming into this thing, so I hope you appreciate it.
7:54
Speaker 3: I appreciate it. Chris is responsible for me being here,
7:56
Speaker 3: so go ahead and blame him for that. All right, Chris,
7:58
Speaker 3: I appreciate it.
7:59
Speaker 6: Man.
8:00
Speaker 3: After our coverage of Hurricane and CAPITALI stick around for
8:02
Speaker 3: Fred and Dave and the crew with Metro News Game night.
8:04
Speaker 3: All right, let's transition talk to Hannah Gardner from the
8:07
Speaker 3: Kennaal Charles new Man Association with this week's Adopt Me
8:10
Speaker 3: Please Pet of the Week. Hannah, good morning, Good morning.
8:13
Speaker 7: How are you.
8:14
Speaker 3: I'm doing fine, Welcome to the show. Now, you don't
8:16
Speaker 3: get to come in studio with us. You have a
8:19
Speaker 3: couple of times, but you know, this is kind of
8:21
Speaker 3: our thing. We're all excited about here as we're getting
8:23
Speaker 3: a new studio. So the next time that you actually
8:25
Speaker 3: do grace us with your appearance here, it'll be in
8:28
Speaker 3: a brand new facility.
8:31
Speaker 7: I'll have to come see it.
8:33
Speaker 3: Yes, absolutely, I'll send you some pictures a little bit
8:35
Speaker 3: later and you can see. And maybe I don't, but
8:37
Speaker 3: they told us they sent out a memo that said
8:40
Speaker 3: in the new studios, no food or drink, and I
8:42
Speaker 3: think that probably applies to animals as well. So I
8:45
Speaker 3: don't know if they're going to allow dogs or cats
8:47
Speaker 3: in the studio.
8:49
Speaker 7: Well, that is fun.
8:50
Speaker 3: We'll still have a little highlight, all right, So let's
8:53
Speaker 3: talk about Mischief, that is our dog this week. Tell
8:58
Speaker 3: us the story of Mischief, all right.
9:01
Speaker 7: Well, Mischief, he is a very very sweet and outgoing boy.
9:07
Speaker 7: He is around one year old, and he definitely shows
9:12
Speaker 7: as though he is still a puppy. He is very
9:15
Speaker 7: much puppy like. So if you're looking for a larger
9:20
Speaker 7: dog that is still puppy like but is around one
9:25
Speaker 7: year then he would be the perfect candidate for you.
9:29
Speaker 7: He came in as astray to Kha, so we don't
9:34
Speaker 7: know much about his background. We just know what we
9:37
Speaker 7: know from what he's been with us at our care.
9:41
Speaker 7: But we do know he wasn't a home once before,
9:43
Speaker 7: and they did verify that he is very puppy like.
9:47
Speaker 7: He does like to romp and run and play and
9:50
Speaker 7: be rough. And he's just your typical puppy. He would
9:55
Speaker 7: probably benefit from a crate for crate training or some
10:00
Speaker 7: like that, or if you have like a nice yard
10:03
Speaker 7: that he can run around in or something just so
10:05
Speaker 7: that way he can run out that energy and get
10:08
Speaker 7: all of that out so he is more able to
10:10
Speaker 7: focus and pay attention and hang out with you and
10:13
Speaker 7: stuff like that. He's got a lot of energy that
10:15
Speaker 7: he needs to run out. But he is kid friendly
10:17
Speaker 7: from what we've noticed, and he is foster eligible, so
10:20
Speaker 7: if you wanted to foster him for a few nights,
10:22
Speaker 7: we encourage it. He is a very very good boy
10:25
Speaker 7: and he loves other dogs.
10:26
Speaker 8: He's very very.
10:27
Speaker 7: Playful with other dogs. He does pool on the leash
10:30
Speaker 7: a little bit, but that is expected where he is
10:33
Speaker 7: still puppy like. So if you just have some patience
10:37
Speaker 7: with him and work with him on that, he would
10:39
Speaker 7: be a great great boy.
10:41
Speaker 3: And again his name is Mischief And as always I've
10:43
Speaker 3: got his picture posted. You can check it out for yourself.
10:45
Speaker 3: Beautiful dog. Dave Aland Radio and Facebook that's where you'll
10:47
Speaker 3: find the picture of Mischief and at Dave A seventy
10:50
Speaker 3: or the Dave Allen Show on X on the artist
10:52
Speaker 3: formerly known as Twitter. The Dave Allen Show in five
10:54
Speaker 3: any Live is presented in part by General Hardware of
10:56
Speaker 3: Winfield and Milton and General Number of Winfield All Projects,
10:59
Speaker 3: Big small shop locally visited General Hardware WV dot com.
11:03
Speaker 3: How are we look at as far as the numbers
11:05
Speaker 3: go at the shelter, Hannah.
11:07
Speaker 7: Oh, well, not too much different. We still kind of
11:11
Speaker 7: have just been hanging out in the overflow number range.
11:16
Speaker 7: We're still in critical capacity right now. But I will
11:21
Speaker 7: say we have been getting a good bit out. That
11:24
Speaker 7: doesn't mean that anything's really changing, because as soon as
11:27
Speaker 7: we get them out, we get more in. We get
11:29
Speaker 7: more in all the time, So it's kind of just
11:32
Speaker 7: like a rotating thing. Right now. We get a good
11:35
Speaker 7: bit out, we get a good bid in, and it's
11:37
Speaker 7: not really changing at the very moment.
11:39
Speaker 3: What do you need of As a matter of fact,
11:42
Speaker 3: just as I said that, somebody texted and said, do
11:44
Speaker 3: they still need blankets and towels? I think that's a
11:46
Speaker 3: given that you always do, Is that right? Oh?
11:49
Speaker 7: My goodness, Yes, we always need blankets and towels. We
11:52
Speaker 7: always need I do think we had gotten in when
11:56
Speaker 7: we ask for purian a dog child. This just kind
11:59
Speaker 7: of gives you example. We did ask for peering a
12:02
Speaker 7: dog chow last time that I was on this show,
12:05
Speaker 7: as well as on our social media, and we got
12:09
Speaker 7: in I don't know, gosh, we got in probably over
12:12
Speaker 7: one hundred almost maybe so bags of dog food for
12:16
Speaker 7: the kennel dogs and that was gone within that same week,
12:20
Speaker 7: so it's it's very very fast. I think we were
12:23
Speaker 7: gone like earlier in that week. So yes, peering a
12:27
Speaker 7: dog chowd puppy chow, kit and chow. I know that
12:30
Speaker 7: the blankets and linens are always welcome. We always run
12:34
Speaker 7: through those because we can't keep a lot of them.
12:36
Speaker 7: A lot of them get too soiled for us to keep,
12:39
Speaker 7: so we have to throw them away. So yes, we
12:41
Speaker 7: are always always always wanting some blankets in linen.
12:44
Speaker 3: And I think it's very important for listeners to remember that.
12:47
Speaker 3: You know, they may be animal lovers and maybe they
12:50
Speaker 3: can't necessarily have an animal, they live in an apartment
12:52
Speaker 3: or something, or maybe they're just maxed out and they
12:54
Speaker 3: can't take it anymore. There are always ways that you
12:57
Speaker 3: can help the shelter that don't necessarily have to be
13:01
Speaker 3: hands on, that you don't necessarily have to adopt a
13:03
Speaker 3: pet or even foster one. There are plenty of ways.
13:05
Speaker 3: If you're an animal lover like I am, like you are,
13:08
Speaker 3: there are other ways that people can help, and this
13:11
Speaker 3: would be a great one of those. But just help
13:13
Speaker 3: them with the supplies and donations of such.
13:16
Speaker 7: Yes, of course, the donations are something that is.
13:19
Speaker 9: A big, big, big help.
13:20
Speaker 7: We always love when people will bring up some donations.
13:22
Speaker 7: It's very helpful. But you can also do a couple
13:25
Speaker 7: other things you can. Of course, as always, we encourage
13:29
Speaker 7: you to adopt. If you can't do that. We have
13:32
Speaker 7: our body program, which is where you take them out
13:34
Speaker 7: for the day on a day trip if you want
13:36
Speaker 7: to go to like a pupcin festival or something. And
13:39
Speaker 7: then we also have weekend fosters where you can foster
13:42
Speaker 7: for the weekend. We also have just fostering where you
13:45
Speaker 7: can foster for just a couple of days to a
13:47
Speaker 7: week or something just however long you may need. We
13:50
Speaker 7: also have slumber parties where you can take them just
13:53
Speaker 7: through the night and see how it goes. And volunteering, donating, adopting,
13:57
Speaker 7: all of that it's just very big help. We definitely
14:00
Speaker 7: need it, and right now it's the time that we
14:02
Speaker 7: could use everybody's help to get all of these animals out,
14:05
Speaker 7: even if you just want to come up and take
14:06
Speaker 7: a dog for a walk, take some pictures of them,
14:08
Speaker 7: learn all about them, and maybe even make a post
14:10
Speaker 7: of them yourself.
14:12
Speaker 3: Final thing I want to bring up here. We had
14:14
Speaker 3: a text the so do you take puppy and kitt
14:16
Speaker 3: and milk supplements?
14:19
Speaker 7: Yes?
14:19
Speaker 3: I don't think they meant do you personally take them?
14:21
Speaker 3: I think do you have them with your breakfast? I
14:24
Speaker 3: think they were asking do you accept the donations?
14:27
Speaker 7: Yes, we do. We definitely take in milk replacements as
14:31
Speaker 7: well as the supplements that go along with those, anything
14:34
Speaker 7: that we can get to help, because we do have
14:37
Speaker 7: some kittens and puppies that come in that may need
14:39
Speaker 7: that extra push. So yes, we definitely take this.
14:42
Speaker 3: All right, Hannah, we'll talk to you next week. I
14:44
Speaker 3: appreciate you being here. Thanks a lot, Thank you and

Speaker 3: a garden from the GNNALA. Charles and you made association.
14:49
Speaker 3: The dog's name is Mischief, one year old male not
14:52
Speaker 3: fixed yet but will be. Seems to be dog friend.
14:54
Speaker 3: He has a lot of puppy like tendencies, they say,
14:57
Speaker 3: which means he's probably going to chew one things a
14:59
Speaker 3: little bit till he gets a little bit older and
15:00
Speaker 3: it's corrected. Seems to be really good with other playful dogs.
15:04
Speaker 3: They're still working on the house training with them a
15:06
Speaker 3: little bit. But again he's young, only one years old.
15:09
Speaker 3: One year old, so there's certainly something that you could
15:11
Speaker 3: work through. A beautiful, beautiful dog. Update. He's updated on
15:15
Speaker 3: all of his vaccines. If you want to see the
15:17
Speaker 3: picture of Mischief again, I've got his picture posted a

Speaker 3: number of critters you can have in your house, there
15:36
Speaker 3: are so many other ways that you can help the shelter.
15:39
Speaker 3: You could take them out for a day, you know,
15:41
Speaker 3: she said. You can foster, or you can just make
15:44
Speaker 3: a donation. Doesn't have to be cash necessarily. If you've
15:46
Speaker 3: got some old towels and blankets later and they need
15:48
Speaker 3: those sort of things at the shelter. If you want
15:51
Speaker 3: to buy some dog or cat food just to get
15:53
Speaker 3: in touch with them, or just drop them off up there.
15:55
Speaker 3: I'm sure they would be glad to have them. But

19:28
Speaker 3: Dear Dave, make sure you give us the thirty second
19:30
Speaker 3: warning on Greg Thomas. Thank you in advance should be
19:33
Speaker 3: around nine forty or so. Every time I have mister Thomas,
19:36
Speaker 3: you can just have these guests on the show that
19:39
Speaker 3: whether people like them or don't like them, or they're indifferent,
19:42
Speaker 3: that they always elicit a lot of calls, a lot
19:44
Speaker 3: of texts and things of that nature. You know, we
19:46
Speaker 3: call them in the business. We call them hot buttons,
19:48
Speaker 3: and Greg Thomas is a hot button. Mike Pushkin is
19:50
Speaker 3: a hot button. So yeah, yeah, I'm gonna give you
19:53
Speaker 3: a warning that about twenty tail or so Greg Thomas
19:56
Speaker 3: is going to join us. I don't have to give
19:58
Speaker 3: a warning for this gentleman of those name is Andrew
20:01
Speaker 3: Blackwell with Habitat for Humanity. How are you man?
20:03
Speaker 9: Good morning? Yeah, you're doing great.
20:05
Speaker 3: What did you do with strong?
20:05
Speaker 9: I thought, I don't know. You know he works on
20:08
Speaker 9: his own schedules.
20:09
Speaker 3: Well, he may very well be the busiest man in
20:11
Speaker 3: the one.
20:12
Speaker 9: He was probably listening to us right now.
20:14
Speaker 3: So you have a big event coming up next week.
20:18
Speaker 3: It's going to be at the Baltwyooed Event Center on
20:21
Speaker 3: Patrick Street and Charleston called the Taste of Chef Paul.
20:25
Speaker 3: It is not, of course, to our James James Beard
20:27
Speaker 3: Award winning chef Chef Paul Smith. It's fundraiser though for
20:30
Speaker 3: Habitat for Humanity.
20:31
Speaker 9: Talk about this event, yeah, So every year we offer
20:35
Speaker 9: a taste of selections from a prominent chef from across
20:39
Speaker 9: West Virginia. Usually that chef is from out of town.
20:42
Speaker 9: But the timeliness of the James Beard Award really called
20:48
Speaker 9: us to invite Chef Paul to come do this event
20:52
Speaker 9: for us. And I learned just the other day that
20:54
Speaker 9: when he was in high school, he was a volunteer
20:56
Speaker 9: for Habitat for Humanity here in Charleston, So it was
21:00
Speaker 9: a really good fit. I think he's excited to do it.
21:02
Speaker 3: So I'm looking at this menu here, and you know,
21:04
Speaker 3: I'm a foodie, so I'm looking at this menu, so
21:07
Speaker 3: I'm just gonna mention a couple of things here. Ten
21:10
Speaker 3: ten caesar salad. You had me at caesar salad. That's
21:13
Speaker 3: one of my favorite things in the world. A horseradish
21:16
Speaker 3: bread and butter pickles, toasted briosh with ramp herb, peppercorn potato,
21:24
Speaker 3: soufle bites. And over to the main menu, Nashville Fried chicken. Yeah,
21:29
Speaker 3: you got me on that one got me out of
21:30
Speaker 3: all these, I don't even.
21:31
Speaker 9: Read all these, you know. And the great thing is
21:33
Speaker 9: the selection. You get to go pick and try things.
21:38
Speaker 9: And these are staples that that Chef Paul is known for.
21:42
Speaker 9: The golf shrimp and grets, cast iron seared ten ten beef,
21:46
Speaker 9: and then a chocolate silk tartlet for dessert.
21:49
Speaker 3: Let me tell you you had my wife at Shrimp
21:51
Speaker 3: and Grits because that's her favorite thief. She had to
21:53
Speaker 3: choose between me and a shrimp for grits. Goodbye, Dave. Absolutely,
21:57
Speaker 3: but I'm a big I'm a big fan of just
21:59
Speaker 3: about any kind of food. Now, this is happening Tuesday's
22:01
Speaker 3: Baldwooed event center. Talk about how to get tickets.
22:04
Speaker 9: Yeah, so you can go to our website. If you
22:06
Speaker 9: search for Habitat for Humanity knaf hutting them, you'll find
22:10
Speaker 9: us there and it's one of the banner images. So
22:15
Speaker 9: you can click on it and get tickets. Now you're
22:16
Speaker 9: going to have to act fast. I think we have
22:18
Speaker 9: less than a dozen tickets left.
22:20
Speaker 3: Really less than a dozen tickets left, yes, Well, and
22:23
Speaker 3: then there's and for good reason, I mean, because this
22:25
Speaker 3: is a great event. And I'm going to give a
22:27
Speaker 3: big shout out to the folks over to Baltwood and
22:29
Speaker 3: their event center, David Sean and those folks over there.
22:32
Speaker 3: They're just fantastic to give back to the community, whether
22:34
Speaker 3: it's this event, the Inside the Huddle event that they
22:37
Speaker 3: host every year with Tony Kreedi, there's just so many
22:39
Speaker 3: different events that they have over there. They're just simply
22:42
Speaker 3: it simply great people that believe in giving back in
22:44
Speaker 3: the community.
22:45
Speaker 9: Well, you know, and that's critical and I think it's
22:48
Speaker 9: a central focus of our mission as well, providing affordable
22:52
Speaker 9: housing to neighbors in our community because everybody deserves a
22:57
Speaker 9: decent place to live.
22:58
Speaker 3: Matter of fact, mister Strung just texted me and said listening,
23:02
Speaker 3: thank you. So he's listening somewhere.
23:05
Speaker 9: My phone beep too, So well.
23:07
Speaker 3: Yeah, I think you were including on the text as well.
23:09
Speaker 3: The Dave Allen Showing five Day Live, brought to you
23:10
Speaker 3: apart by your hometown baseball team, the Charleston Dirty Birds,
23:13
Speaker 3: Birds and our sister station, the Beats, invite you to
23:16
Speaker 3: go Mark Ballpark Thursday, the twenty fourth for Trick or Beat,
23:19
Speaker 3: presented by Selango Law. Two sessions, one at six the
23:22
Speaker 3: other at seven thirty. You must have a ticket to
23:25
Speaker 3: be admitted. Tickets are available in our studios eleven eleven, Virginia,
23:28
Speaker 3: Stree D's, and Charleston during normal business hours. And you
23:32
Speaker 3: got to get those tickets, all right. So you touched
23:35
Speaker 3: on a little bit, Andrew, But let's go back and
23:37
Speaker 3: kind of give us the overall mission of Habitat for Humanity.
23:41
Speaker 9: Yeah, so we develop and provide affordable housing for members
23:46
Speaker 9: of our community, and there's a big misconception that Habitat
23:51
Speaker 9: gives houses away. That's actually not the case. Our big
23:56
Speaker 9: advantage for folks who need housing and who are willing
24:02
Speaker 9: to partner with us by investing sweat equity and helping
24:05
Speaker 9: build their house or the house of somebody else in
24:08
Speaker 9: the program is a zero percent interest mortgage. And so
24:12
Speaker 9: over the life of a thirty year mortgage that you know, normally,
24:16
Speaker 9: at commercial rates you pay just as much as you
24:19
Speaker 9: pay for the house in interest, and so at zero
24:22
Speaker 9: percent entest you don't have that expense.
24:25
Speaker 3: And the tickets for this particular event again are one
24:27
Speaker 3: hundred dollars for single tickets or a couple, or for
24:30
Speaker 3: two tickets one hundred and seventy five dollars. But as
24:33
Speaker 3: Andrews said, you got to get these, like you know,
24:35
Speaker 3: yesterday quickly.
24:36
Speaker 6: Yeah.
24:36
Speaker 9: I figure they'll be sold out by the end of today,
24:39
Speaker 9: by the.
24:39
Speaker 3: End of this interview they made, it could be they
24:42
Speaker 3: could be gone. And I think it's very important that
24:44
Speaker 3: you bring out again about the misconceptions about Habitat for Humanity,
24:47
Speaker 3: which you mentioned is that you're just you know, giving
24:49
Speaker 3: people home and saying here, here's your house. And you know,
24:52
Speaker 3: like Oprah, you get a car, You get a car
24:54
Speaker 3: and here's some keys, and have at it. But it's sweat.
24:57
Speaker 3: It's all about sweat.
24:58
Speaker 9: Equity it is. You know. We we like to say
25:00
Speaker 9: that we do not give a handout, we give a
25:02
Speaker 9: hand up. And you know, access to affordable housing is
25:07
Speaker 9: becoming more and more difficult, especially safe, decent housing, and
25:13
Speaker 9: so I think we play a critical role in this
25:16
Speaker 9: in part of the solution. We're not the whole solution
25:20
Speaker 9: by any means, but but we do do a substantial part.
25:24
Speaker 3: I believe. I don't want to talk a little bit
25:26
Speaker 3: about my good friend Cheff Paul Smith. He may be
25:29
Speaker 3: challenging Jim Strawn for the busiest guy in Charleston, I
25:32
Speaker 3: mean with his restaurants. And I was going to say
25:35
Speaker 3: he announced earlier this week he's going to be opening
25:37
Speaker 3: up a new place upon Bridge Road, an Italian neighborhood
25:40
Speaker 3: type spot called Police. I love the name. I love it.
25:43
Speaker 3: I love it, and and I read the article that
25:45
Speaker 3: the great article that's the food gat Steven Keith did
25:48
Speaker 3: in the Gazette mail earlier this week about that. But
25:50
Speaker 3: he always, you know, Cheff Paul always has time to
25:53
Speaker 3: give back to the community. I mean, I've got I
25:56
Speaker 3: had a matter of fact, I'll tell you a quick
25:58
Speaker 3: story a couple of weeks ago. He's doing an event
26:00
Speaker 3: and he's doing some different projects with health right, and
26:03
Speaker 3: I put the wrong graphic on my little Facebook post
26:07
Speaker 3: promoting the show because I had like three different things
26:09
Speaker 3: that Chef Paul was doing, and in my preview, I
26:13
Speaker 3: put up the wrong graphic for the wrong event and
26:15
Speaker 3: I had to go back to correct it because I
26:17
Speaker 3: got them all mixed up.
26:18
Speaker 9: Yeah, you know, his commitment to the community is really commendable,
26:24
Speaker 9: and you know that's we all thrive when we help
26:29
Speaker 9: each other.
26:29
Speaker 3: Yeah. Indeed, again we're talking with Andrew Blackwell with Habitat
26:33
Speaker 3: for Humanity the Taste of Chef Paul in Charleston, and
26:36
Speaker 3: again it's been advertised as an exclusive dinner featuring variety
26:40
Speaker 3: of gourmet itams prepared by Chef Paul Smith. It's Tuesday
26:43
Speaker 3: at the ball tow Ooed Event Center, but as of
26:45
Speaker 3: the our airtime this morning, there were only about twelve
26:48
Speaker 3: tickets or so left. You got to get hit the
26:50
Speaker 3: website and you got to get those tickets, and it's
26:52
Speaker 3: just going to be I think one of those events
26:55
Speaker 3: Andrew and Charleston that you don't want to miss.
26:57
Speaker 9: No, you know, we won't have a whole lot of talking.
27:00
Speaker 9: We'll talk a little bit about what we do and
27:02
Speaker 9: why we do it, but the evenings about.
27:05
Speaker 3: The food, yeah, and about Habitat for Humanity as well.
27:08
Speaker 3: And I mean, I mean I first got this, you know,
27:11
Speaker 3: last night. Actually well actually I already had it saved anyway,
27:14
Speaker 3: but I was looking at it and I was like,
27:16
Speaker 3: my god, this sounds good, and I don't at my
27:18
Speaker 3: particular time I read this, I didn't have any of
27:19
Speaker 3: these items in my kitchen. Yeah, I did not have
27:22
Speaker 3: access to a player to shrimp and grits at like
27:24
Speaker 3: nine o'clock.
27:25
Speaker 9: Last night, right exactly.
27:26
Speaker 3: That's good. So, by the way, you are the second
27:29
Speaker 3: to last guests to be in this particular studio.
27:31
Speaker 9: You just told me that. That's I feel honored.
27:34
Speaker 3: On Monday, we will be moving downstairs, and the whole
27:36
Speaker 3: plan is we're going to move downstairs, which is, like
27:39
Speaker 3: Chris said, a transitional studio, and then they're going to
27:42
Speaker 3: rebuild the studio that we are in now with cameras.
27:45
Speaker 3: So in addition to listening to the show, just like
27:49
Speaker 3: and you can, you can watch you can, you can
27:51
Speaker 3: watch all of the you can watch Jim Strawn come
27:53
Speaker 3: into our studio and kick over the computer tower like
27:56
Speaker 3: a couple of.
27:56
Speaker 9: The cameras would be here today. So I got all
27:58
Speaker 9: dolled up, but apparently for no reason.
28:00
Speaker 3: All right, so again, let's go over all the details
28:03
Speaker 3: on the event again. Go ahead.
28:04
Speaker 9: Yeah, So this coming Tuesday, the sponsors reception starts at five,
28:09
Speaker 9: dinner at six. Tickets are available at HFHKP dot org.
28:13
Speaker 3: And it's going to be a great menu. I've mentioned
28:15
Speaker 3: some of the items are going to be there, and
28:16
Speaker 3: all of the benefit, all the proceeds that are raised
28:19
Speaker 3: will benefit Habitat for Humanity. Big shout out to the
28:21
Speaker 3: folks of ball Toyota and also the John L. Dickinson
28:24
Speaker 3: Family Homeowner Education and Community Center as well. Get those tickets.
28:28
Speaker 3: As of airtime, there are only about twelve tickets that
28:31
Speaker 3: were available, So get them quick, get them all right?
28:33
Speaker 3: All right, Andrew, I appreciate you being here twenty five

33:26
Speaker 3: Greg Thomas is here. I said that, Greg, because I
33:30
Speaker 3: read some online chatter that some people were upset. Now
33:33
Speaker 3: there's always going to be and I'm a sports nut,
33:35
Speaker 3: so there's always going to be people that say, unless
33:37
Speaker 3: you wear traditional golden blue, and they do that with
33:40
Speaker 3: Marshall too. You know, it should be one call and
33:42
Speaker 3: I completely get that. But there are people upset that
33:45
Speaker 3: they are pain tribute to coal miners. I mean, how
33:48
Speaker 3: screwed up is that? I mean, to be honest with you, man,
33:51
Speaker 3: I mean if they did the same thing with the
33:52
Speaker 3: Dirty Birds. You know, a lot of people didn't like
33:54
Speaker 3: the Dirty Birds name. Okay, okay, I'll give them that,
33:58
Speaker 3: but they said, we should not be paid tribute to
34:01
Speaker 3: a business that has caused so much devastation in West Virginia.
34:06
Speaker 3: How about a business that supported this state for a
34:09
Speaker 3: number of years along with the steel industry. But I'll
34:11
Speaker 3: get off my soapbox. People.
34:15
Speaker 14: It's a testament to how far along the country has
34:19
Speaker 14: come for people to that's what they have to complain about, right, Like,
34:23
Speaker 14: It's not like like how am I going to eat?
34:25
Speaker 14: How am I going to do this? Like that? That's
34:27
Speaker 14: the thing that's like really stuck on them, is uh
34:31
Speaker 14: is things like that. I mean, I you know, I mean,
34:35
Speaker 14: I'm not surprised by it. Of course. I mean it's
34:36
Speaker 14: you know, and it's a w you know which Morgantown
34:38
Speaker 14: is like, you know, our cities are liberal, man, at
34:44
Speaker 14: least two of them are. Yeah, what I think Charleston's liberal.
34:47
Speaker 14: I think Huntingdon's liberal, Morgan's liberal.
34:49
Speaker 3: Huntington tends to be because anywhere that you have a university,
34:52
Speaker 3: a large.
34:53
Speaker 14: University, I've seen recent polling from that area that will
34:57
Speaker 14: tell you that they're more liberal than what you think
34:59
Speaker 14: they are. Yeah, it's uh, yeah, you know, look, I
35:04
Speaker 14: think it's the whole country is that way, right though.
35:06
Speaker 14: I mean the urban areas are becoming increasingly blue and
35:10
Speaker 14: the rural areas are becoming increasingly red.
35:13
Speaker 3: And the battles for the suburbs, I guess, I guess
35:15
Speaker 3: which is probably a mix.
35:16
Speaker 14: I would think, Yeah, well, it's it's a pendulum that
35:18
Speaker 14: swings back and forth, right, I mean, the suburban people,
35:20
Speaker 14: it's less about the culture and just more about the pocketbook. Yeah,
35:25
Speaker 14: and you know, if the economy's going well, you know,
35:28
Speaker 14: they have the ability to care about other issues. And
35:31
Speaker 14: if it's not going well, then you know, that's that's
35:33
Speaker 14: what they care about. And I think right now in
35:35
Speaker 14: the country that is what people care about, right, I mean,
35:37
Speaker 14: I think the suburban people now it's less about you know, uh,
35:43
Speaker 14: you know, social issues and things like that, and it's more,
35:46
Speaker 14: you know, inflation's killing people. You know, inflation's killing people.
35:49
Speaker 14: And if you're somebody that's you know, bought a house
35:52
Speaker 14: on a five year arm or whatever, and you're living
35:55
Speaker 14: in a you know, the suburbs, and you're like, gosh,
35:58
Speaker 14: you know this this the entry rates are killing me. Uh,
36:01
Speaker 14: just going to the grocery store is very, very expensive.
36:06
Speaker 14: And I think that's you know, when when Trump makes
36:09
Speaker 14: the election about that, he picks up steam, right, and
36:14
Speaker 14: he has been doing that for the last few weeks.
36:16
Speaker 3: Then look, you know, and I'm not necessarily a fan
36:18
Speaker 3: of Donald Trump, but I will say this, I agree
36:20
Speaker 3: with you one hundred percent on that because but but
36:22
Speaker 3: he can't seem to help himself, Greg. He has to
36:24
Speaker 3: go off on these tangents and put out so much
36:27
Speaker 3: bs out there that gets if he would just stay
36:29
Speaker 3: and I know probably his hammlers are saying, economy, economy, economy,
36:33
Speaker 3: stay on the economy.
36:35
Speaker 14: I talked to uh, you know, I do other radio
36:37
Speaker 14: interviews like this and speak to groups, and I was
36:39
Speaker 14: speaking to a conservative group up in Fairmount a couple
36:42
Speaker 14: of weeks ago, and you know, I was talking about
36:45
Speaker 14: the lawsuit abuse like I'm about to hear and and
36:47
Speaker 14: and other kind of conservative issues and Republican stuff, and
36:51
Speaker 14: one of the one of the ladies was like, man,
36:53
Speaker 14: Trump needs somebody like you to tell him what to say.
36:55
Speaker 14: And I was like, buddy, you know how many people
36:58
Speaker 14: he's got like me like that. Dude's got all kinds
36:59
Speaker 14: of people around him all day long being like you
37:02
Speaker 14: got to say this, say this, here's the polling, here's
37:04
Speaker 14: the messaging, here's what you got to do. And sometimes
37:07
Speaker 14: he does and sometimes he doesn't. And I will say,
37:10
Speaker 14: I do think he's been doing a pretty good job
37:12
Speaker 14: over the last couple of weeks. And I think that's
37:13
Speaker 14: why you're seeing him with a lead, right. I mean it,
37:17
Speaker 14: it went from he had this huge lead over Biden.
37:21
Speaker 14: You know, they they pulled you know, the Democrat, you know,
37:24
Speaker 14: whoever makes decisions for the Democrat Party, They they pulled
37:29
Speaker 14: him off the ballot. They installed Kamala without any votes,
37:35
Speaker 14: and the media went crazy for and the liberals in
37:39
Speaker 14: the city, in the urban areas went crazy for her
37:42
Speaker 14: numbers went way way up. And now though people are
37:45
Speaker 14: actually you know, they tried to hide her, right, I mean,
37:48
Speaker 14: she wasn't doing the interviews.
37:49
Speaker 3: Even the Democrats were coming, and her supporters were saying,
37:52
Speaker 3: I mean even people on some of the Sunday morning
37:53
Speaker 3: to the Donna Brazil's of the world, we're saying, she'll
37:56
Speaker 3: get out there, She'll get out there. And then she
37:58
Speaker 3: came back and said, no, she's got to get it
38:00
Speaker 3: out there. Well, and she has been and she has.
38:02
Speaker 14: Been well, she has been and it hasn't been going
38:04
Speaker 14: very well.
38:05
Speaker 6: Right.
38:05
Speaker 14: I mean, I think, Look, I don't think this is
38:08
Speaker 14: a situation of her being incompetent. I think this is
38:11
Speaker 14: I mean, I don't think I think she's extremely liberal,
38:14
Speaker 14: and I think they are now coaching her to say,
38:17
Speaker 14: you can't you can't actually show people who you are
38:19
Speaker 14: because you're going to lose, right, you're so liberal that
38:22
Speaker 14: if people know this, and now, I think she's just
38:24
Speaker 14: sort of being overhandled, right, And and that's you know,
38:28
Speaker 14: and I've seen it at the local level. I mean
38:30
Speaker 14: not to this degree because it's you know, national attention
38:33
Speaker 14: and all that, but you know, I think she's just
38:35
Speaker 14: being overhandled and she's being overhandled because they are scared
38:40
Speaker 14: to death. She's going to actually tell people what she thinks,
38:43
Speaker 14: which is far far left of where those independent suburban
38:48
Speaker 14: people that you sort of brought up are. And I
38:51
Speaker 14: think Trump, you know, so now all of a sudden,
38:54
Speaker 14: she's you know, not doing great on the on the
38:57
Speaker 14: on the on the stage, you know, on the world stage.
39:01
Speaker 14: Really because everybody's watching to see what happens with our
39:03
Speaker 14: with our presidential election. Trump right now is actually staying
39:08
Speaker 14: relatively disciplined for him.
39:12
Speaker 3: For him, it's.
39:14
Speaker 14: A scale, it's a relative situation, and I think he's
39:18
Speaker 14: doing a pretty good job of staying focused.
39:21
Speaker 3: Uh.
39:21
Speaker 14: And it's right, it's immigration, it's the economy. That's what
39:26
Speaker 14: they need to be talking about. And I think the
39:28
Speaker 14: more the Democrats, uh, you know, they're they're this whole
39:33
Speaker 14: thing where like she's trying to separate herself from Biden
39:36
Speaker 14: is hilarious to me, right, I mean, you're the vice president.
39:39
Speaker 3: That's a hard ask anybody.
39:41
Speaker 14: And the fact that they're you know, it's it's they're
39:43
Speaker 14: trying to pull it off. It's not working among anybody
39:46
Speaker 14: other than like their you know, solid blue people are
39:50
Speaker 14: believing that. So they're in a tough spot. I mean,
39:53
Speaker 14: they really are. You know, they've got a candidate that
39:55
Speaker 14: can't actually be yourself. They've got an economy that they
39:59
Speaker 14: have to own, which is very which is not going well.
40:03
Speaker 11: Uh.
40:03
Speaker 14: You know, you've got this unrest in several different places
40:07
Speaker 14: across the world that that we keep meddling in and
40:11
Speaker 14: uh and people back home, man are just kind of like,
40:14
Speaker 14: you know, I don't want you to continue to fill
40:17
Speaker 14: our cities with illegals. I you know, don't you know
40:19
Speaker 14: we need to put our FEMA money in these in
40:23
Speaker 14: the wake of these hurricanes and storms rather than just
40:26
Speaker 14: you know, propping up you know, bringing in hundreds of
40:29
Speaker 14: thousands and millions of illegals, uh to our country cities.
40:32
Speaker 14: And they're in a tough spot. I mean, I think
40:34
Speaker 14: if the I think, look, I think at the election
40:36
Speaker 14: were today Trump wins. But as you said said, you know,
40:41
Speaker 14: we've got a month and uh he is you know,
40:45
Speaker 14: he's stuck his foot in his mouth in less time
40:48
Speaker 14: than a month before.
40:49
Speaker 3: Yes, yes, indeed. But Dave Allen Chilling five Any Life

41:07
Speaker 3: edu slasht apprenticeships. Today Tech says inflation. This is like
41:11
Speaker 3: what they did was ABC here A inflation is not
41:15
Speaker 3: killing people. B climate change caused by burning fossil fuels
41:19
Speaker 3: is actually killing people. And see Greg Thomas is a suburbanite.
41:22
Speaker 14: Oh my gosh, this person, this person, this person's one
41:27
Speaker 14: for three. I actually am a suburbanite.
41:30
Speaker 3: So okay, they as am, I as am I I'm
41:32
Speaker 3: a suburbanite.
41:33
Speaker 14: They're one for three. I live in h I live
41:35
Speaker 14: at the edge of South Charleston because I don't live
41:38
Speaker 14: within the socialist confines of where I'm currently located. Uh
41:44
Speaker 14: they' they're one for three there, right. I mean, for
41:46
Speaker 14: anybody to say that inflation isn't killing people, it's like,
41:50
Speaker 14: I mean, this is either somebody who's just extremely brainwashed
41:55
Speaker 14: on the end of where like they're entirely relying upon
41:58
Speaker 14: the government for their own well being, or it's somebody
42:01
Speaker 14: that's so rich they don't have to worry about the
42:04
Speaker 14: fact that their groceries cost twice as much as they
42:05
Speaker 14: did three years ago. And so you know, in climate change,
42:11
Speaker 14: if you still believe in climate change at this time,
42:13
Speaker 14: I mean, what a like? How gullible do you have
42:16
Speaker 14: to be? I mean what an unbelievable?
42:17
Speaker 3: Mean let me push back on a little bit. Do
42:19
Speaker 3: you think it's possible for people to believe because it's
42:21
Speaker 3: always been this yet? Yes or no? I am one
42:25
Speaker 3: that believes that climate change is a thing, but I
42:28
Speaker 3: don't necessarily know how much how much I buy into
42:31
Speaker 3: the fact that man has as much to do with
42:33
Speaker 3: it as what they say it does. I mean, the
42:35
Speaker 3: climate is changing, but.
42:37
Speaker 14: But it's I guess I got Okay, I should have
42:40
Speaker 14: said I think my man made climate change as a hoax.
42:44
Speaker 14: I think it is a hoax. I think it's it's
42:45
Speaker 14: a socialist driven scam.
42:49
Speaker 3: And let me get to Okay, we discovered that you
42:52
Speaker 3: were a suburbodad. Okay, we answer that Greg Thomas is
42:55
Speaker 3: a Republican propagandist who's used talking points to appease his
42:58
Speaker 3: dear leader your fiance.
43:00
Speaker 14: Now, I don't have any talking points in front of me.
43:05
Speaker 14: I guess I just say the things that I that
43:07
Speaker 14: I believe. I don't know. I there are things that
43:13
Speaker 14: I don't you know, there's there there are Republican talking
43:16
Speaker 14: points that I can't look. I can't sit around and
43:18
Speaker 14: watch Fox. To me, Fox News is sort of the
43:20
Speaker 14: Republican talking point stuff, right, It's like, Okay, you're not
43:23
Speaker 14: a fan. No, And I think and I think it's
43:25
Speaker 14: it's just disingenuous, and I think it's it's not good
43:28
Speaker 14: for us in the long run to just be like, Okay,
43:30
Speaker 14: you know, let's just hit the lowest common denominator every morning, right.
43:34
Speaker 14: I mean I get that you've got to do it sometimes,
43:37
Speaker 14: but at some point you've got to get by just
43:40
Speaker 14: that lowest common denominator and actually have a discussion about
43:42
Speaker 14: how we're going to solve problems.
43:44
Speaker 7: Uh.
43:44
Speaker 14: And I don't really think that's what That's what that
43:47
Speaker 14: level of cable you know, news does. And that's just
43:51
Speaker 14: the nature of the beast, right, I mean, it's you know,
43:54
Speaker 14: you know, it's that's Facebook, that's Fox News. It's sort
43:57
Speaker 14: of the same, you know, the same stuff. It's just
43:59
Speaker 14: what's the lowest I'm a denominator that we can hit,
44:01
Speaker 14: and that's what they hit. But you know, I'm I
44:04
Speaker 14: don't know, I'm actually a conservative, you know, I've been
44:06
Speaker 14: a conservative my whole life. I've you know, I believe,
44:10
Speaker 14: I believe in it, you know. I mean I'm friends
44:13
Speaker 14: with actual liberals right that like believe it. I mean
44:15
Speaker 14: I don't. I don't really have a lot of friends
44:17
Speaker 14: in the modern day Democratic Party because I think they're
44:20
Speaker 14: they're just actual like socialists. But I think, you know,
44:23
Speaker 14: twenty years ago, Democrats were like liberal, you know what
44:27
Speaker 14: I mean, Like they we were all trying to get
44:30
Speaker 14: to the same place. We were just going in different directions.
44:34
Speaker 14: And I think the modern day Democratic Party just we're
44:37
Speaker 14: not even going to the same place. It's like we're
44:39
Speaker 14: not even on the same.
44:39
Speaker 3: And I think if I could play Devil's advocate here
44:42
Speaker 3: and then we got to go a break, I think
44:43
Speaker 3: that some of that could be said for some of
44:46
Speaker 3: the far right Republicans and I and trust me, I'm
44:48
Speaker 3: not talking about Greg Thomas here, I'm not talking about
44:50
Speaker 3: Eric Tarr here. I'm talking about far far, far right.
44:53
Speaker 3: They're doing more damage the Marjorie Taylor Greens of the
44:56
Speaker 3: world in my opinion, are doing more damage to the
44:58
Speaker 3: Republican Party than but any Democrat could ever do.
45:01
Speaker 14: We have people on our side that want total control
45:04
Speaker 14: the way there are people on the far left that
45:06
Speaker 14: want total control. Right. I mean, that's that's really what
45:08
Speaker 14: it is. And I guess that's what you know. There's
45:12
Speaker 14: always been that argument of like some of the actual
45:14
Speaker 14: conservatives are just the old school liberals.
45:16
Speaker 3: Right.
45:16
Speaker 14: It was like, okay, we you know, we have that
45:18
Speaker 14: we want we want people to take care of themselves.
45:22
Speaker 14: We want you to be able to make decisions for yourself,
45:24
Speaker 14: whatever that decision may be. Uh, sort of that libertarian
45:27
Speaker 14: almost end of our party.
45:30
Speaker 1: Uh.
45:30
Speaker 14: But no, we look, we have people on our side
45:32
Speaker 14: that that want to force you know, certain you know,
45:38
Speaker 14: they want to govern where they you know governm morality
45:42
Speaker 14: type stuff. I mean, that's that stuff's crazy.

Speaker 3: Texas. I don't mind Mitre Thomas as he has as
49:01
Speaker 3: his opinions, but I could never cast a vote for
49:03
Speaker 3: Donald Trump. He does not stand for anything I want
49:05
Speaker 3: to see done in America. I pity us if he
49:08
Speaker 3: actually wins Texas, Dave, thanks for having Greg Thomas on
49:12
Speaker 3: the program. He's a man with common sense.
49:15
Speaker 14: Look there as my dad listening.
49:18
Speaker 3: What is that said, Texas? It's sad listen to Greg
49:21
Speaker 3: cheer for a dementia stricken geezer. Dementia stricken Geezer. Good
49:26
Speaker 3: name for a band. All right, So let me let
49:28
Speaker 3: me the real reason I had you here today was
49:32
Speaker 3: to talk about you. Of course, they are the director
49:34
Speaker 3: of Citizens against Laws City Abuse in West Virginia. This
49:36
Speaker 3: has been citizens This has been Lawsuit Awareness Week. So
49:39
Speaker 3: we got parades, we got a loss of awareness. Queen,
49:42
Speaker 3: what do we got? You did get a proclamation from
49:44
Speaker 3: the governor.
49:45
Speaker 14: Yeah, the governor issued a proclamation for Lawsuit Abuse Awareness Week.
49:49
Speaker 14: I look, just something we do every year to kind
49:51
Speaker 14: of highlight you know, the messages that we give all year,
49:54
Speaker 14: but you know, essentially just to say, look, this is
49:57
Speaker 14: an issue that impacts people. You know, we essentially have
50:00
Speaker 14: you know, we did a study where you know, it
50:02
Speaker 14: was out there. We call it like a tort tax.
50:03
Speaker 14: It's like, you know, how much does lawsuit abuse cost
50:06
Speaker 14: your family? We did one here in West Virginia. It
50:08
Speaker 14: was about six hundred and sixty two thousand and thirty
50:10
Speaker 14: five cents a year cost the states over ten thousand
50:13
Speaker 14: jobs a year. You know, obviously, we've you know, it's
50:15
Speaker 14: been an issue that the legislature has addressed. You know,
50:19
Speaker 14: we we've we've made a lot of strides in improving
50:22
Speaker 14: our state Supreme Court. We got the creation of the
50:24
Speaker 14: Intermediate Appellate Court. But we still have problems, right, I mean,
50:27
Speaker 14: our circuit courts are still very bad in a lot
50:30
Speaker 14: of places, especially here in Kannac County. And you know,
50:34
Speaker 14: there's just there's certain things to just pop up, right,
50:36
Speaker 14: I Mean, you see advertising around certain issues. Anytime you
50:39
Speaker 14: see an ad for a lawsuit, that means those people
50:42
Speaker 14: are making more money off of those types of lawsuits
50:45
Speaker 14: than what they probably should be, right, I mean, you know,
50:48
Speaker 14: and so you know, we try to highlight that kind
50:51
Speaker 14: of stuff. You know, it has a negative impact on jobs,
50:55
Speaker 14: It has a negative impact on affordable access to affordable
50:58
Speaker 14: health care. And you know so Citizen Against Lawsuit Abuse
51:01
Speaker 14: get over twenty thousand members state wide, and we just
51:03
Speaker 14: continue to talk about the message and highlight the abuses.
51:06
Speaker 3: To Dave Allen showing five any line brought to you
51:08

Speaker 3: inch chocolate chip cookie only twenty three ninety nine. Texas
51:15
Speaker 3: people dog Fox all the time, but notice the stories
51:18
Speaker 3: you get on there you don't see on ABC, NBCCBS, CNN,
51:21
Speaker 3: et cetera, et cetera. Shall I go on? Well, one
51:23
Speaker 3: of the reasons is that I dog Fox News is
51:25
Speaker 3: because they admitted in court that they weren't a legitimate
51:27
Speaker 3: news source. They admitted that in the They came out
51:30
Speaker 3: and said we are entertainment. That's it's court documented. They
51:33
Speaker 3: said we are not a legitimate news source. I mean,
51:35
Speaker 3: what do you want? I want to close with this,
51:38
Speaker 3: because Greg, this is a serious time here. As I've
51:42
Speaker 3: been saying throughout the show that this is our last
51:45
Speaker 3: day in this particular studio. I don't know exactly how
51:48
Speaker 3: many years that things have come out of this studio.
51:51
Speaker 3: But I mean you think about people like Don Cook
51:53
Speaker 3: and all these people that have set in this very seat.
51:55
Speaker 3: Come Monday, we're in a brand new studio. You, Greg Thomas,
51:59
Speaker 3: the lightning that you are, the bad mofo. You are
52:03
Speaker 3: the last ever guest in this studio in all those years.
52:07
Speaker 14: Well it's uh, you know, unexpected that that is the
52:10
Speaker 14: case for me to walk in here and do this.
52:12
Speaker 14: But you know, look, I appreciate it. Look, talk radio
52:14
Speaker 14: is important. It's important for a community. You guys provide
52:18
Speaker 14: an essential service. You do a very very good job
52:20
Speaker 14: with it. And look, I think you don't really have
52:24
Speaker 14: a real community if you don't have this kind of platform.
52:26
Speaker 14: You guys do it and do it very well.
52:28
Speaker 3: All right, man, thanks a lot. We didn't even pay
52:29
Speaker 3: you to say that, all right. Last ever guest was
52:32
Speaker 3: Greg Thomas. I want that on a plaque. Ryan, Let's
52:34
Speaker 3: put that out like like almost like employee of the month.
52:37
Speaker 3: Our last ever guest was Greg Thomas. We gotta go,
52:39
Speaker 3: hobby coming up, But ten oh six, have a great weekend.
