- 0:00SPEAKER_01: Hot Pockets!
- 0:01SPEAKER_00: I had to ask the question because we just found out that apparently Hot Pockets no longer use the crisping sleeve, which really didn't really didn't do what needed to be done with that.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: Except for the corners, which were outside the sleeve.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: They were always rock hard.
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: It did incinerate the inside.
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: The crisping sleeve never touched the corners, though.
- 0:19SPEAKER_01: That's the funny part.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: Never.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: It crisped the corners.
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: The inside was lava.
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: And then oh, I said to Scott, we need to do a hot pocket taste test.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: Do I still love them like I used to love them?
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: See, I haven't had a hot pocket in over 20 years, and I and this is the God's honest truth.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: Neither one of my kids, the young ones, uh, have had a hot pocket.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: I can't believe that.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: Because that was that was our after school snack.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: I know that was like dinner when my mom was like, I'm not cooking.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: Eat a hot pocket.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: Go get two.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: And well, they came as two, so you got a you know, well-rounded Okay, you got something in your stomach.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: Well, I had a brother, so you get one, I get one.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: You didn't buy the you didn't make four?
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: No, it was, I mean, it was an after school snack.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Well, either way, so we found that I had to save room for the Twinkies.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: Come on, stop.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: Okay, you're right, 90s.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: Um, so uh neither one of them have had uh hot pockets.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: So, but uh I'm not alone.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Uh it turns out that uh okay, so we get close with Andrea.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: They go, My kids have ate them, but they aren't fans.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Oh uh and then another one came in.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Let's see, this one from hang on, uh 2973.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: We had them in the house once, but my kids never ate them.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: My oldest is 13.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: They don't like those pizza rolls uh either.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Uh dang fussy kids.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Now the pizza rolls also are like a lava pot.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: Yes, and they just they're they oh also once they get a little colder, once they cool down, becomes a rock as well.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: I have some in the freezer that the only thing that's uh happening to them is freezer burn.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: So that's my revenge on those.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: Yes, I love it.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: Instead of burning my mouth, I'm burning you in the freezer.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: I love a good freezer burn ball.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: Pony Joe, I like the cheeseburger ones.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: Ah, and and the taco ones.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: The taco ones were the best ones.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: I see, I don't remember the taco ones.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: Did they actually have them?
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: I Googled it.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: They were the Southwest taco.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: I don't think I ever had those.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Oh, they were the best ones.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: And the pretzel ones, oh, so good.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: I don't think I think a more of a majority of people, I mean, we're speaking to a segment right here that lived on Hot Pockets and potentially kept you alive for a couple years of your life.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: But I think there has been a massive shift.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: And I'm gonna bet you sometime in the 2010s, Hot Pockets.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: You know what?
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: Do me a favor, Google um, how do we how do we Google this?
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: What did you want to ask?
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: Are Hot Pockets profitable for their guys?
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Because I'm wondering when the decline started.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Because like I said, 12 and 7.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: No, no hot pockets.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: One of the things that first comes up, are hot pockets bad for you?
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Well, um I mean, I suppose you could type it in uh you didn't you didn't type it in are they good for me, so you'll get an honest answer.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: Hot pockets generate over$1.2 billion in annual revenue, and they have a profit margin of 30%, which is why they keep them.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: I guess I would have liked to have seen was there somewhere where it changed, like around 2010, they took the dip of the city.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: Oh, I'm sure.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: You need to have that younger audience to sustain the future.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: Or single guys.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: I also think well, that's the same with how when's the last time you ate a microwaveable meal?
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: Like growing up, we always ate the Salisbury's, what was it, like the Marie Calendar Salisbury steak.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: Right, right.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: I haven't bought a microwave meal in forever.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: Even when I was younger, we had the oh, what was the it was a blue box, you got a brownie in there.
- 3:42SPEAKER_01: Oh, the hungry man's?
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: It was made for kids.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: Oh, the kid cuisine.
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: Kid cuisine.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: Kid cuisine, yeah.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: Nothing cuisine.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Cuisine.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: Cuisine.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: There's nothing good about a kid's cuisine.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: No, but that I mean, kids wouldn't even eat those now.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: I would I do want to read a couple more text messages about the hot pockets.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: Because uh uh my daughter tried one bite of a hot pocket and was not a fan.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: This is more than one.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: I'm telling you.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: She does not like anything in a bread pocket, so no pizza rolls, no hot pockets, nothing.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: I think kids also have a a better palate now.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: I mean, here's Lydia eating a charcuterie board every single day.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, it's she she's She's not gonna eat no, she's not gonna eat no lunchable like I had, where it was like slimy, greasy ham.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: Wet cheese.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: No Lydia is better than that.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Well, then clearly, because I have to make slimy ham.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: Oh, it was always sh and it had a pink sheen.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: Oh, God, yes.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: Terrible.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: All right, I have to switch it for a minute here.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: There's uh a video going viral of someone uh throwing a block of ice down a 137-meter hole in Antarctica.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: And it's been the whole day the whole day.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: We're not coming from me.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Uh apparently.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Are you in pyramid bond?
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: Apparently, it makes these cool laser sounds, and I want to hear it.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: So they're having a full-on Star Wars under the ice.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: Oh, did you hear the end?
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's so cool.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: I love a pew-pew.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, here, let me have you the pew-pew.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's so cool.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: I gotta get the video so you can share this.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah, please do.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, that's awesome.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: Um, you know what the other thing that we didn't play yet?
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: And Pony Joe, thank you so much for being or was it Chris?
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: One of our listeners was on top of this, and they had texted about this weeks ago, and I don't want to forget about it.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: Send of the month.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: Can I have the audio, please?
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, oh yes, go ahead.
- 5:49unknown: Okay, thank you.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: Ah, oh, not that one.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: Not that one.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: Not that one.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: Um, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: Is it this one?
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: Wednesday.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, we're done.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: It's over.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: It is over.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: Is that it?
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: I think it was Chris that texted about that.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: Well, they are spot on right.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: And by the way, this is the 85th day of September.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: I just want to point that out.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: Every other month went by quick, but the paychecks, man, that made me realize this is a long month.
