- 0:03[SPEAKER_01]: At least you know Michael what's going on.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_01]: We know you have takes, we have takes.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm back to surprise that you're a rant line, rape line, whatever, is this completely full.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_03]: What can't we just win a game?
- 0:14[SPEAKER_03]: Can I blame Michael Cassfield for this?
- 0:16[SPEAKER_03]: Can I blame Bob Connelly for this?
- 0:17[SPEAKER_03]: Can I put on a zebra shirt and just go out there?
- 0:20[SPEAKER_03]: Scratch, claw, up against the wall.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: Can't explain it while I'm feeling right now, guys.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: I can't believe it.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: Let's open up that raised ball.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: or can't believe U.S.C.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: is undefeated in the ATC.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, we're in the big tent.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: What the record, oh no!
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, buddy, welcome back to Red Trey Radio.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: This is the car cast.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: For U.S.C.s 3424 loss on the road in a wet south bend.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm your host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my host, my
- 1:01[SPEAKER_01]: This was a game.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: It was a game.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_01]: The ball was played.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_03]: The ball was played.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, our correct.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: Precipitation was precipitating.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_03]: Ah, yeah.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_03]: Rain was falling.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_03]: White thing was not lightning, and lightning, though.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: True.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: So the perfect conditions to call a wide receiver pass, I think.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_01]: Personally, I think it was fantastic conditions for that, right?
- 1:34[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I put on Twitter that if the Marilyn game broke me last year, then that wide receiver past broke me this year.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just, I'm broken.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_03]: I don't, I, I don't know what to say.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_03]: I, I, I think that there will be people, and I know like Michael, you might be this voice.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if you still feel this way, but during the game you were certainly talking
- 2:06[SPEAKER_03]: Like, there's reason for, you know, optimism in the sense of, you know, USC played well in a lot of areas and the defense got some big stops and my other played well for the most part, you know, this that and the other thing and I
- 2:27[SPEAKER_03]: come away with a far more pessimistic feeling about this game because I think Notre Dame played absolutely dog shit with the exception of Jeremiah Love.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_03]: I thought CJ Carr begged to give this
- 2:57[SPEAKER_03]: outside of putting up 315 rushing yards, which didn't require all that much effort in the end.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_03]: I thought Notre Dame would have looked back at this performance and said, wow, we were bad in this game.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_03]: If USC wins this game, Notre Dame is talking about how they screwed up and how they gave it to USC.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_03]: And instead, we're talking about USC screwing up harder, finding a way to be worse, to be more
- 3:46[SPEAKER_03]: It's I'm just I'm so frustrated because this was such a winnable game.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_03]: This was such a winnable game.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_03]: And it's a game that USC can't win hasn't won in the last few years.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_03]: USC needs a big win on the road.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_03]: They need it.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_03]: They've needed it for 10 years.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_03]: 15 years, I think now.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe it's 10 years, 2016, last big road win.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_03]: U.S. is dying for this win and Notre Dame was handing it to them, Notre Dame who got a turnover and then failed to turn it into points and gave the ball back to USC.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_03]: Like, and, and, and still, USC can't get it done.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_03]: The opposing team, a ranked team, is begging them to upset them, and USC says, no, I don't think I will.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_03]: And there's a variety of reasons why, because Jade and my Ava misses a throw, because USC's offensive line can't clear rushing lanes for King Miller or Brian Jackson or
- 5:10[SPEAKER_03]: because Jacobi Lane decides to drop a couple passes because Mackay Lemon doesn't know what to do when he's asked to throw the ball because shockingly, Mackay Lemon is not a quarterback.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_03]: I'm tired of getting on here and doing carcass about this exact game over and over and over again.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_03]: It's because it's just it's groundhog day on the road for USC against any opponent.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_03]: Let alone a good opponent.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_03]: It's groundhog day.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_03]: This team is capable of winning these goddamn games and yet this team continually throws it away throws it away throws it away
- 6:10[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't know, I'm I'm left with the feeling and I don't want to do this and I don't want to turn it into this, but I can't help this feeling.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_03]: USC loses this game because Lincoln Riley is their head coach because Lincoln Riley doesn't understand what
- 6:31[SPEAKER_03]: to how to quality control his defense.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_03]: Lincoln Riley doesn't understand how to game plan his defense or help his DC game plan their defense.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_03]: And because Lincoln Riley in the most critical moments pulls out the most horrific play calls that he is this game had probably the five worst play calls of the season for USC.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_03]: results impacting like your view of what a play call is.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_03]: No, like these are plays that have not worked.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_03]: Not just this year and the reason they like you see hasn't been running these plays this year and it's been a breath of fresh air.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_03]: The Blake McCree is not a good option rolling out into the flat.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_03]: It's not a play that worked this year in the two times they ran it.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_03]: It's not a play that works.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_03]: So why on both 4th downs in this game is that the thing you're calling?
- 7:40[SPEAKER_03]: Why?
- 7:43[SPEAKER_03]: Why?
- 7:44[SPEAKER_03]: Oh God.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_03]: Why?
- 7:45[SPEAKER_03]: Are you calling?
- 7:48[SPEAKER_03]: A wide receiver pass in the rain.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_03]: when you just got momentum.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_03]: When your offense has been moving the ball, despite not being able to run, your offense has been finding a way down the field.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_03]: Your offense is...
- 8:09[SPEAKER_03]: Doing what it needs to do, moving down the field against this defense.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, in the, I think in the first half settling for field goals really hurt USC.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_03]: But USC's offense is good enough to go toe to toe with this defense.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_03]: You don't need to get into your bag with trick plays.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_03]: You just don't do what you're good at.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_03]: Do what you're good at.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_03]: throw the ball to Jakobi Lane, throw the ball to McKay Lemon, throw the ball to Tano Kines, throw the ball up the seam to your tight ends, don't try this bullshit on the edge.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, USC loses this game because Blinken Riley is their head coach.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_03]: And that's probably
- 9:08[SPEAKER_03]: I've, I'm trying, given the circumstances, given the reality, given that we know that Lincoln Riley isn't going anywhere for the foreseeable future.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_03]: I am trying so hard to give a certain amount of grace and a certain amount of, maybe he can figure it out.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_03]: He's still a relatively young coach, maybe he can figure it out.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_03]: He just, you know, messed up his previous defensive coordinator hires.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_03]: He just needs to find the right one.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_03]: You know, he's rebuilding USC.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_03]: He needs to restock the cupboard.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_03]: All of these things like I'm trying, but it is year four, it is year four, and without Caleb Williams being a freaking magician, USC has consistently fielded a bad defense that can't stop the run, and consistently had terrible
- 10:07[SPEAKER_03]: Game altering stupid playcalls at key moments in these games on the road that USC could and should be winning And instead it's just the same thing over and over again and I don't see progress and I don't see Things getting better all I see is
- 10:30[SPEAKER_03]: What is the personnel involved?
- 10:32[SPEAKER_03]: Because the difference between this year and last year is quite simply that Jayden Mayova is a better quarterback than Miller Moss.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_03]: That is the difference between this team and last year's team.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_03]: Jayden Mayova is a better quarterback than Miller Moss.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_03]: That's it.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_03]: The defense still stinks against the run.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_03]: The linebackers are still completely absent unless there's an 18 on their jersey.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_03]: The debies are still vulnerable.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_03]: The offensive line still struggles against any good defensive front that they face.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_03]: And this team as a whole is still mistake prone in the worst possible ways.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_03]: This was 2022.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_03]: It was 2023.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_03]: It was 2024.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_03]: And now we're in 2025.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_03]: It's year four.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_03]: you have to have found a way to win one of these games.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_03]: And if it is year four and the only time you've ever done it, actually didn't even do it because Caleb Williams never even did it.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_03]: So you couldn't win this game with Caleb Frick and Williams.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_03]: And you can't win this game with Jain Mile, who's legitimately playing as well as any quarterback in the country.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_03]: If you can't win it with them, or with your opponent, a top 15 team, playing poorly, then how are you going to win anything?
- 12:15[SPEAKER_03]: We shouldn't still be looking for moral victories around, well, you see, you know, moral victory around.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_03]: Well, maybe you see, you can still be nine and three, like maybe you see, you can still
- 12:28[SPEAKER_03]: No, it is year four.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_03]: LSU wants to run Brian Kelly out of town, and Brian Kelly has never lost more than has never won less than nine games in LSU.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_03]: They want to run Brian Kelly out of town, because LSU understands they're not contending for a title with Brian Kelly as their head coach.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_03]: And USC isn't even there.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_03]: USC isn't even in the Brian Kelly,
- 12:58[SPEAKER_03]: part of it.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just so I'm so I'm I can no longer find moral victories.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_03]: I can't.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_03]: I can't.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_03]: Notre Dame was favored by 7 or 8, U.S.C.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_03]: loses by 10.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_03]: It's just, it's a game that, it's a game that, it's a game that U.S.C.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_03]: has to be able to win.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: especially because everything happened that you needed to happen for the most part, right?
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: If you would have told us before the game started, you were going to have Notre Dame punts twice as many times as you do.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_01]: You are going to hold them to scoring on only four offensive
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: There's going to be one receiver that has more than two catches.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_01]: Jake, my office is going to throw for 328, and Jacobi Lane's going to catch six passes for a buck 11.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_01]: Notre Dame's going to go 3 of 11 on third down.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like all these things and have eight penalties for 96 yards.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, all of those things.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: If you're going to say that all those things happened, that's a win.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_01]: And like I know that we can sit here and talk about the 300 yards on the ground.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_01]: I really don't.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: I, you talked about the game plan on defense.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_01]: I thought the game plan on defense worked.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_01]: This was, Dan Lynn clearly went all in and stopping in the past.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_01]: Could we talk to a week about how, how our SC's corner is gonna remotely live against this receiving court, right?
- 15:23[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't do anything through the air.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna push back to see they didn't do anything to the air because CJ Car missed his guys That didn't did the Clancy Pender gas thing in the sense of I'm gonna stop one thing I'm gonna give up the other thing and give up the other thing real bad but like It got S C enough stops on defense to win the game
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: did they shut Notre Dame down completely certainly not they gave up three hundred and six raps in yards Jeremiah love looked incredible uh run in through the whole looks like one of the best running backs have ever seen your life right he's really damn good he's really damn good yeah but like
- 16:08[SPEAKER_01]: They got this, they still got the stops.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_01]: They got the third downstuffs, three of 11 on third down.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: And they got a fourth downstop on top of that.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_01]: My new, it was late when they just checked it in the end zone.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_01]: To me, this comes down to like, you got a good game out of my avid.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I think my avid played really damn well in this game.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_01]: He played well enough to win.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: He throws the one in herception.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: And it's a pass where he makes the right read.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_01]: He throws the ball behind Jacobi Lane.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: i'm sorry it's a rain game it happened it's it you're gonna throw a pick in a rain game like i can live with it he bounces back and he throws the long past to macaite lemon couple drives later right like things are going still right in the past game they they had everything there my issue in this game it's it's not Lincoln Riley in the grand scheme of things it's Lincoln Riley
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: calling plays on the critical dance.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: There were three game, sorry, drive ending plays that lose the game for us in this game.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_01]: Three of them.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: Fourth and fourth and what?
- 17:20[SPEAKER_01]: Three at the Notre Dame 19, in the first half, and it was the little flat
- 17:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's a third down play and they've ran something very similar.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_03]: Well, both of them are down, both of them are plays where passes behind the sticks.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, run that on third down.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's not your fourth down play.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_01]: That, like, don't call that on fourth down.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: The, the, the bootleg.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm okay with the bootleg on third down, not fourth and it just third an inches.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: I like that play call a lot.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: Fourth and inches.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_01]: No, it is certainly even if it works.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sitting here and saying that that is getting too cute with like Lincoln Riley is an elite plate designer The offense works There's a reason that your number one and all these offensive statistics just run your offense if you just run your offense You're going to move the ball you're going to move down and they did that in this game
- 18:25[SPEAKER_01]: And then it's like this galaxy braining when you get to these critical place.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_01]: That they grab all the momentum was just swinging back and forth in the second half, right?
- 18:37[SPEAKER_01]: They turn it around, they get the big touchdown to Jacobi Lane, immediately you kicked in the face again with the Jitterian price kickofferter.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_03]: Because of this tackles, that's fun.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and you come back.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's the interception.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_01]: Well, damn, so you'll like the games getting out of hand, right?
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: But no, I mean, sorry, Notre Dame, Mrs. the field, the field will attempt.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_01]: You're right back in it, you're only down three.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_01]: You get the big long pass play to Mackay lemon for what 39 yards.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_01]: You're in Notre Dame territory.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: You've got the momentum on your shoulders again.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_01]: You're down three, you're driving for the lead.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: It is raining buckets.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: And you go with the, I guess it wasn't a double pattern.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: It was like a sweet past.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, get sweet past.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's the way to say it.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_01]: Why does he ever pat, like, I'm okay with the trick play in a rivalry game.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_01]: I like a trick play in a rivalry game.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_01]: SC scored in a trick play against Illinois that got called back for a penalty that had nothing to do with the play, right?
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like I'm okay with trick plays, not in that situation.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_01]: not at all.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_01]: You have all the momentum in the world at that point.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: You're driving.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: There's a million tight butt holes inside of Notre Dame Stadium.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: This is a Notre Dame team that has lost two close games in the fourth quarter of this year.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: You're putting doubt in their heads.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_01]: You're moving the butt leg.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: You have everything going in your favorite right now.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_01]: Your defense somehow is still
- 20:23[SPEAKER_01]: try to do something that he doesn't do with clubs on.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, in the rain.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_03]: And yes, Mokai should know, Mokai shouldn't attempt to, like, you shouldn't fumble the way he does.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_03]: You should just take the loss or throw it away way earlier.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_01]: But you're going to give him your losses.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_03]: You're going to lose.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, this is why, why receivers don't throw the ball that often because they're not trained.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_03]: What to do when a man is in their face?
- 20:51[SPEAKER_03]: That's not their skill set.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_03]: So don't ask that of them in a monsoon.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, we got a, we got a super jet.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: Super jet comes from Tim and LA for a bottle of screwball or whatever, helps dull the rage.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_03]: The screwball is not strong enough.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: Cheers.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_03]: Oh.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I'm not like, like, I sent this to our group chat.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_03]: Like, on the plus side, what's that meme where it's like a TikTok where the guys like, like, quick, tell me something something that'll make me feel something and then the response is like, like, a rage bait or something like that is like that, the only positive about tonight is that
- 21:52[SPEAKER_03]: There is a universe where U.S.C.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_03]: loses this game in a fashion that leaves me very apathetic and just like, yeah, but the way that U.S.E.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_03]: lost this game, like ignited, like, I texted our group chat, like I went from apathetic to apoplectic.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_03]: Like, yeah.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think it makes it more frustrating that, like, S.C. didn't get played off the park tonight.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: Like, somebody in the chat said that, like, S.C. is just not that good.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: That's why I'm so pissed off.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: This is the problem.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_01]: The problem is that the team is good enough to win these games and they don't.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_03]: Don't stop the crowd.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_03]: Break yourself into thinking that USC blacks talent or that they can't go toe to toe with teams like Notre Dame.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they got, they can.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_01]: They got blown away in rush defense and they still should have won the game.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like they weren't good enough to win this game despite their works.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: S.C. is probably going to be unranked tomorrow and you know, I don't care, they're just rankings, but whatever, but like this is the team that looks like a top 20 team.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_01]: They should belong there and they should prove that they belong there, but this is okay.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_01]: Why, you know, not having these things that just like, and this is where I felt like the players were let down today with those play calls.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't like being the play call guy, right?
- 23:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like those who terrible play calls.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone of those play calls was bad in the moment.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like you can't even, there's, it's not results by us.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 23:28[SPEAKER_01]: God formation by us, whatever.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_03]: I, I, I know you said you don't care about the rankings and I agree that like the rankings aren't, the rankings aren't the end all be all.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_01]: They might actually, they might be ranked because nine ranked teams are losing this well, that's fair.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_03]: I'll have to figure that out as soon as we're done because I'm doing the rankings again this week, but like they matter to me in that I push back at anyone.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_03]: who claims that USC does not have top 20 talent.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_03]: USC doesn't maybe have top 10 certainly not top 5 talent.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_03]: Certainly not in the trenches.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_03]: But you cannot tell me that USC has lacked top 20 talent.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_03]: Go like even under Clay Hilton, that team, those teams had top 20 talent.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_03]: The first season that Lincoln Riley,
- 24:30[SPEAKER_03]: takes over and flips the roster.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_03]: That's top 20 talent.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_03]: 2023 has top 20 talent.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_03]: They finish outside the top 25.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_03]: 2024 has top 20 talent.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_03]: They finish well outside the top 25.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_03]: And this freaking team.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_03]: This freaking team has top 20 talent.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_03]: Well, you know, it's like, it's this like defense mechanism that USC fans used to make it easier to cope with the fact that USC is perennially underachieving by acting like, oh, what was it you covered was bear.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_03]: The cover was not that bear.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_03]: The cover was
- 25:11[SPEAKER_03]: Not stacked full of the way that it was for every smart when he took over Georgia or You know any other like like Kailin to board when he took over Bama or Dan landing when he took over Oregon.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah certainly the covered was not stalked the way it was But U.S.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_03]: He's covered it's still stalked a hell of a lot better and has been stalked a hell of a lot better than teams like Missouri
- 25:40[SPEAKER_03]: or Vanderbilt, or Indiana, or Illinois, or any of these teams don't kid yourself.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_01]: This is not a national championship roster, but it surely is a get in the playoff and lose in the first round roster, and actually hasn't done that, you know what I mean?
- 25:56[SPEAKER_03]: Like, and we've talked about it a million times before USC, do we think ASU's roster was stacked when Kenny Dillingham took it over?
- 26:03[SPEAKER_03]: That was a mess of a freaking program.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I got a bunch of super chats, so it's it's good to those, but yeah, I'm with you.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_01]: Alright, first one from Saga here's to six more eight and four seasons of Riley.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe we get a chance to press the reset button in 2030.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_03]: That's why I'm so mad.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_03]: I'm so mad.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_03]: I do want to call.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you for the super chat by the way, Sagar.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_03]: I want to call intentions on the idiom said in the chat.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_03]: I grabbed this from way back, but on the six more eight and four seasons of Riley thing, idiom said the thing is this, you have to keep processing coaches until you find the right one.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_03]: We might not hit on the next one, but the longer Riley stays, the longer we aren't there.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_03]: And that is my, like, that's the, there was a discussion in the chat about, like, well, who is USC going to get that's better?
- 27:06[SPEAKER_03]: And this is certainly a question that's going on around the country, James Franklin.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_03]: This was the reason for Penn State not to fire him, because realistically, the chances of them getting someone better than James Franklin is,
- 27:17[SPEAKER_03]: pretty low actually it's it's it's not even 50 50 if we're being honest um and USC getting somebody better than Lincoln Riley is also 50 50 at best but this is why I and I am now this is gonna be in my new crusade Michael
- 27:34[SPEAKER_03]: This is why you do not hand a football coach, a 10 year contract.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_01]: This is why this happened forever.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_03]: This is why I would never hand out a contract that was more than five years.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_03]: Because then you get stuck in this because if Riley had been given a five year contract where he was paid $11 million a year,
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: he would have already gotten the extended by the way.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_03]: You wouldn't have extended him.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_03]: You would have fired him all the way.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_03]: Well, you would have extended him after year one.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_03]: We've put him in really freaking stupid by the way, which there are countless examples.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_03]: LSU Penn State.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_03]: This is the game.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_03]: This is what the story is.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_03]: Texas, you know, there's a million different teams.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_03]: If you don't give him that deal, somebody will.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_03]: We'll then let somebody take that like what I don't know let let them leave then I don't whatever it is do not give them a 10 year contract
- 28:25[SPEAKER_03]: I would rather at this point, and we talked about like it's so frustrating that USC took this away from us by the way, when USC hired Lincoln Riley, what we said was, wow, this is USC statement of intent.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_03]: This is the most ambitious hire that USC has made since going out and getting Howard Jones.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_03]: USC has not been this ambitious, making a hire, and the cost of the ambitious hire was
- 28:55[SPEAKER_03]: I would rather go hire Joe Schmowe G5 coach or Joe Schmowe defensive coordinator from where or offensive coordinator from wherever and live through three year cycles of, well, this guy's not the guy next, this guy's not the guy next, then have to continue to go through this.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_01]: Let me ask you this question.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, let's get to the the other super chat first.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_01]: And then I got a question for you.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: The other super chat big up to USC Murray here says I'm late.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_01]: Perhaps you covered it but didn't help and have one more win than Riley after 46 games.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's close.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember exactly what the records are people posted all the time though.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_01]: I don't I don't know exactly what it is.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_03]: which which is that it's close is is is is a problem for sure and like that's that's the biggest problem because my argument about clay help me was that he was like a wins above replacement level coach like people want to say clay help him was a terrible coach he's not a terrible coach he's just not a good coach he's not he's just not a coach that elevates anything like play home was going to keep you as he
- 30:08[SPEAKER_03]: So long as this team continued buying into him, the reason that things failed was because, you know, the buy-in stopped coming, but Clayton was going to win games.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_03]: at a level that simply if you are at USC and you have the talent available to you see you will probably win games in that range you're going to have like one you know one week season when you don't have a good quarterback went to a reasonable yeah and then you're going to have you know when you have a good quarterback you're going to be in a range to you know when maybe ten games when you have like the right mix of talent but then the next year you're going to go eight and five and blah blah because when you're at USC
- 30:45[SPEAKER_03]: your your floors so much higher than most most team's floors right what Lincoln Riley is doing right now while making top five money is wins of a replacement like he's he's just doing exactly what Clay helped him did because this is simply what USC is if they don't have a coach that out like yeah so what is the point of Lincoln Riley let me ask you this question.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_01]: would because somebody in the chat said that what's this again, I had a scroll up and make sure I get this right.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_01]: Jason, the chat says, and be the New York Giants question mark about the hiring and firing coaches every three years until you get the right guy.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: Here's the, and this is an absurd concept, so take that for what it's worth.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_01]: Would your rather be the team that goes 40 years between national championships
- 31:41[SPEAKER_01]: to play off bids in those 40 years, but you win two national championships when you finally find your right coach, or would you rather be the team that goes to 20 playoffs when no national championships in those 40 years, but you're in the play off every year, you've got top five recruiting classes every year.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_01]: You're hosting game day, you're doing all the, whatever it is, right?
- 32:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like, would you rather be that team?
- 32:08[SPEAKER_01]: And the reason I asked this is because,
- 32:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm with you.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_01]: If you come up with the idea that like, okay, Lincoln Rally is not the guy who's going to win the national championship and you're only, and that's what the benchmark is and the, that's what, what should it be?
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: It should be, right?
- 32:23[SPEAKER_01]: But like, if, if the idea is like, he's not the winning national championship.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_01]: And so, all right, move on.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_01]: If that's, if that's where you're going.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_01]: You absolutely run the risk of doing the New York Giants thing.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: of, you know, uh, cycling through guys.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_01]: Now, where S.C. has the benefit here is even your bad hires that S.C. are going to win games.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like Paul Hackett took S.C. to a Sun Bowl, baby?
- 32:49[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm, you know what I mean?
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: Ted Toler took S.C. to a Rose Bowl.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_01]: Clay Halton took S.C. to two big bowls should have been two Rose bowls.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_01]: Um, it was one.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, it should have been two if not for the playoff screw in that up.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: one of a conference title, right?
- 33:08[SPEAKER_01]: So like, Lane Kiffin one, 10 games.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: Sark recruited a class that won a run Spawn, right?
- 33:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like, even your bad coach is still win.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe that answers the question for you.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_03]: But like the fact of the matter is there are far more.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_03]: Kiffins and Sarks and Heltens out there, then there are Kirby's or, you know, Sabons or whatever, like they're just simply way more of those guys out there, but at least a new coach brings new hope, and I think where I am so frustrated is,
- 33:50[SPEAKER_03]: They elongated the clay-hilton era, far beyond what it should have been.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_03]: So we spent far longer waiting for the new hope to bloom with a new head coach.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_03]: And then they hired a coach that was going to...
- 34:08[SPEAKER_03]: Whether he succeeded or failed, walking for another elongated period where you couldn't just move on when you realize that he's not the guy.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_03]: And now you end up in this situation where you're in your four, he still can't win this game.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_03]: He still can't win the road game against a half decent opponent.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_03]: And
- 34:30[SPEAKER_03]: I think we all know what the reality here is.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_03]: And I, I get it.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a pessimist and maybe there are people in listening or in the comments or whatever who are saying like, you don't know, next year it could be better because Chad Bowdoin or whatever.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_03]: But I don't think so.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so because I don't, I, is, are next year are they going to, when it gets to fourth and three at the 19 are they going to call a tight end flat again?
- 34:56[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, I mean like,
- 35:01[SPEAKER_03]: What reason do I have to believe that next year's defense is going to be better than this year's defense?
- 35:06[SPEAKER_01]: So, um, in the chat, where's it?
- 35:10[SPEAKER_01]: Is it Marcus that said this?
- 35:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm, I'm just a million things to scroll through.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I've been listening for 20 minutes, haven't heard a negative word once about Dan and Lynn.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_03]: Trust me.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_03]: There are plenty of those in me.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_01]: They gave up 36 yards on the ground.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: 6.3 yards per play, 442 yards, there's 402 reasons to talk about how things went wrong for the defense the night, they didn't lose because of the defense.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_03]: And I think you're mad because that's the frustrating thing because USC's defense is bad USA's defense and they should have still won the game.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_03]: They still should have won the goddamn game and this and this Maybe this is why I'm also so annoyed because we spent years talking about you know what I could live with being big big 10 bad big 12 that bad Yeah
- 36:02[SPEAKER_03]: And then U.S. he went and hired the coach that should have put them into big 12 bad territory and he produces 24 freaking points in a game where the offense operated at a level that should have put them in range to score 40 and they needed to score 40 in this game.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_03]: We said this before the game.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_03]: They needed to get close to as close to 40 as possible because you guess what?
- 36:27[SPEAKER_03]: The defense was always giving up 30 something to Notre Dame.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_03]: They were always going to give up somewhere between 30 and 35 to Notre Dame at best.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_03]: Like I was not planning for USC to hold USC under to hold Notre Dame under 30 points.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_03]: Was I planning for them to give up 300 yards on the ground?
- 36:46[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe not.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just not surprised, but I wasn't necessarily.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_02]: You're the cloning player all right.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_01]: Did they or they did not best it I mean I didn't listen had a couple good money They weren't tested that greatly, but like I this was Nicholson's best best night.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_01]: I think yeah I think I thought he played well, but this is also on this is also on Riley because
- 37:12[SPEAKER_03]: And let's be totally fair, I was excited about the dent in Lynn Hire, but I did, and we can go back and check the tape.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_03]: I did say the concern is you are rolling the dice with a defensive coordinator who's only got one year of experience, had one really good year, somebody else's players, and
- 37:40[SPEAKER_03]: he's able to replicate that at USC and clearly he is not and to me that is again Lincoln Riley and again we've said this in the past.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_03]: Is it that Lincoln Riley has just gotten a couple of defensive coordinator higher as wrong or is it that Lincoln Riley doesn't know what a good defensive coordinator looks like and it is starting to become very clear to me that it's the latter that it is
- 38:10[SPEAKER_03]: A, he can't identify what good defensive coaching looks like, and or B.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_03]: he cannot put his defensive coordinator in position to succeed.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_03]: He cannot help them come up with a game plan or approve a game plan that is the right way.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_03]: He cannot manage a defensive coordinator to a degree.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_03]: He cannot hold a defensive coordinator to a standard that puts his team's in position to to be in contention.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_03]: If this is happening now a third time, then it's not just personnel, then it's not just the coaches themselves.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_03]: It is something fundamental with Lincoln Riley.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_01]: I have a hard time with the, he can't hire good defensive coaches thing.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_01]: When we have sat here and,
- 39:16[SPEAKER_01]: commended them for every higher that they've made on the defensive side in the last two years.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_03]: So, but why are all those hires weaker than the sum of their parts?
- 39:27[SPEAKER_03]: Like, that's my, this is my question.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_03]: This is why I have to question if it's something about the way that Riley runs the program, the way that Riley oversees
- 39:38[SPEAKER_03]: the what is going on with his defenses because his oversight of the offense outside of his friggin annoying play calling everyone's in a while like his oversight of the offensive clearly pretty freaking good like the the offenses that he produces generally have extremely high ceilings and it's only them shooting themselves in the foot that gets them into trouble and that's a whole other thing but like yeah his defensive defenses of consistently underperformed
- 40:08[SPEAKER_03]: what you would expect from the hiring that was being made of like for that side of the ball.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_03]: So it's maybe it's that, you know, USC is taking decent coaches and making them worse by putting them together in this melting pot where they aren't mixing well.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_03]: I don't, or he's,
- 40:33[SPEAKER_03]: whatever it is, whatever it is, something isn't right.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_03]: Something is off.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, you know, we talk about like, what's the difference in my Ava and Miller Moss?
- 40:43[SPEAKER_03]: My Ava has a certain amount of like it factor that's just different for me than Moss.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_03]: it's like the reverse it factor.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_03]: I can't tell you exactly what it is and people will throw out possibilities and I won't exclude them but I can't say for certain that it's the way he practices.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_03]: I can't say for certain that it's who he hires.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_03]: I can't say that it's for certain you know how they gain plan or or who they recruit or any of these things because I just simply don't know.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not close enough to it to be able to diagnose it.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_03]: But it is, there is, there is, there is an, an anti-IF, an anti-IF factor going on with Lincoln Riley and the way that his defense is performed.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't want to let Danton Linn off the hook here because Danton Linn is responsible for figuring this stuff out.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_03]: And Danton Linn, if he wants to be a head coach someday, needs to be able to do that on his own.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_03]: It just feels like there's something deeper going on than just Stanton Lind doesn't know what he's doing, which is certainly possible.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_01]: I've got a super chat.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_01]: From 300 G, J, W. For me, the kickoff for turn right after we took the lead was the killer.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_01]: Especially because S.C. got the lead.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_01]: with the 59 yard touchdown passage of Kobe Lane.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_01]: And that was the aha moment, right?
- 42:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like that was the moment that it's like, oh, you know, as he can do this, as he will, like things are gonna go right for S.C. At some, like, the momentum was on U.S.E.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_01]: side.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then immediately, burst popped right there.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_01]: But even after that, they still had chances the missed wheel though.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_03]: And then USC just, again, just absolutely fumbled away their best chance at a signature road victory.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_01]: And I, I just go back to like Lincoln Riley is an exceptional play designer, arguably the best in the business.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_01]: This is an offense that clearly works.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_01]: Why are you overthinking it on critical place?
- 43:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's working 98% of the other place.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_01]: Frankly, those critical, like these are the place that those critical plays are the ones that you should be able to really succeed in because
- 43:37[SPEAKER_01]: This is an offense that is built on when they're at their best.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_01]: They are going to where the numbers benefit them, right?
- 43:44[SPEAKER_01]: They are running into a light box.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_01]: They are throwing into into space and getting receivers in open space.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_01]: Why, I just don't know why you go away from those things.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_03]: Why not just pass the bot like four speed McIlemmin on that play.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_03]: just force me to him.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_03]: I don't, you know, get the, I love tight ends.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_03]: I love Lake McCree.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_03]: I love Walker Lions, but if I need a play, if I need a play, if I need to put the ball in somebody's hands and I don't have women Jordan anymore and I don't have Eli Sanders anymore.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_01]: To be fair, he did put the ball in the Kylamans hands.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I'm talking more about the 4th downs.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm not.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_03]: For all those 4th downs, I would rather just throw it up from a guy and see if he can make a play.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_03]: Your probability there is simply higher by just doing that instead of the calls that you see.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_03]: And I hate you and you and I know we hate
- 44:56[SPEAKER_03]: microanalyzing play calling because so much of it is confirmation by us, which I stupidly love calling results by us.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_03]: It's a good play call if it works and it's a bad play call if it doesn't.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_03]: Except that in this case, I cannot get over the fact that I've spent out come by us out come by us I'm biased.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna Wikipedia page.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_03]: I cannot get over the fact that I have spent the majority of this college football season So we're talking a month and a half
- 45:36[SPEAKER_03]: mentioning over and over and over and over again.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_03]: Every single game I think I've had this observation, wow, I love that USC is thrown at the tight ends over the middle instead of trying to get the tight ends out into the flat, because that is not their skill set, that is not where they're most valuable, that is not where they do their damage, and I'm so relieved that USC seems to have given up those plays.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_03]: Only for in the most important game of the year
- 46:06[SPEAKER_03]: for Lincoln Riley to pull that out of his bag and say here like it's like Lincoln like grabbed me and like shoved my nose and poop kind of like levels of just like odd I
- 46:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think the frustrating thing here is like, I thought Notre Dame's game plan defensively made a lot of sense.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_01]: They put Leonard Bohr in the slot.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_01]: They try to take away McIleman, and it worked from a vast majority of the game.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_01]: They played a lot of man.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_01]: And the man took away a lot of the screens.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I think there was a nice little chess match that Lincoln had to overcome that, right?
- 46:47[SPEAKER_01]: Because man is a screen killer.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_01]: And he found ways to beat it.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_01]: And then completely overdone it on their good old downs on four tenths.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_01]: So we got more super chats.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: All right, see how gatewood just pops in with a super chat
- 47:11[SPEAKER_01]: Just a, just a I'm out of coffee.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_01]: Just a sign of a pre, I'm out of, we're going to have to do.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_03]: Do you want some water?
- 47:18[UNKNOWN]: Not good.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_03]: Because I have like, so here's the thing.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_03]: I'm doing the, uh, went to the store, grabbed bottle of hoisin sauce.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, look.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_03]: Already had a bottle of hoisin sauce.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_03]: I'm doing that with water bottles.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_03]: Like every time I come over to the to the studio, I've like grab a water bottle on my way.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_03]: And now I have like four full water bottles sitting there because I didn't realize that I had had the one that I brought before.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_03]: So yes, sorry.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_03]: Sorry, more supercrets.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_01]: GS 75 85 says year four time for results not giving me beat along the line against the frickin iris.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that you
- 47:55[SPEAKER_01]: And at some point, you've got to win one of these games.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to win one of these games.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_01]: Especially when, I feel like I'm saying it a million times, like the reason you lost is not because of the lack of talent man to man.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, they got post-off, the line of scrimmage in the rust defense terribly, but that's not why you lost the game.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_01]: You were gonna win this game, despite that, if you finished off your own drives, and as you couldn't finish off their own drive, which is their strength.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_01]: They failed at their own strength, right?
- 48:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like you can't do that on the road.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_01]: You cannot do that on the road, especially when it's your strength.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_01]: The film photos show Super Chat.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_01]: Cheers.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Renetri.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_01]: Also reset the program again.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a lot of people in here for changes.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_01]: Big changes, CEO gatewood, another Super Chat.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_01]: We had two smaller DTs against five offensive linemen and two tight ends just like the Illinois game.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_01]: Also the linebackers were exploding downhill with power, ours just reacted and soft.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_03]: I will say it again, not to cut you off Michael, but USC is playing with 10 men.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_03]: with their lineback with the linebacker situation right now.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_03]: U.S. is playing with ten men because I'm sorry.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_03]: And I somebody, somebody in the chat said, you know, what point do we hold, sorry, it was a Curtis said, what point do we hold players accountable?
- 49:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean,
- 49:26[SPEAKER_03]: I would love to hold players accountable.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_03]: I just don't know how much I'm going to do that when USC has undersized defensive tackles in a foreman front and relying on Eric Gentry and Desmond Stevens, a player who it has become extremely clear, should not have been viewed as the next, as the answer
- 49:54[SPEAKER_03]: that USC didn't go out and get a plug-and-play that are in linebacker.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_03]: Is it Desmond Stevens fault that he's playing as a software when he's clearly, like, is it Desmond Stevens fault that he is USC's best option at linebacker?
- 50:10[SPEAKER_03]: Like, that, I don't know that that's, obviously, that I like Desmond Stevens to play more aggressively to play, you know,
- 50:21[SPEAKER_03]: to to play more confidently and all that all of that.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I would.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_03]: But unfortunately, Desmond Stevens is USC's best option at linebacker.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_03]: And if he is not capable of doing that job, and at least from what we have seen, the people behind him aren't capable of doing it that much better, then who's fault is it that he's on the field?
- 50:47[SPEAKER_03]: it's not his fault that he's on the field yeah it's the coaches who didn't produce somebody better or recruit somebody more capable or older or more ready I
- 51:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Curtis, the test is that Riley tell the quarterback to throw two picks.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_01]: One of them was in the final second on a desperation drive.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care about it.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_03]: And the other pick, it's not like, it's not a bad myovapick.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, like you said, like, it's a, it's a bad throw in the rain.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's, that's why it's tough to, it's a rain game.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to have a pick.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I, I, I,
- 51:28[SPEAKER_01]: I get put more stock in my office game tonight overall.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_01]: My office not why S.C. loft this game.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_01]: He did get away with it incredibly insane decision in the first half.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_01]: He's just scrambling not looking anywhere throws the ball somehow right in the bucket.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_01]: uh... for tuna kines uh... yeah miracle beyond miracle that should have been probably intercepted uh... uh... kind of says y'all wasn't complaining about that why receiver pass when it worked against you see a last year it was the morning reading cats and dogs against you see a lot of you know like i said i said earlier i'd like a wide receiver pass i'd like to trick play in a in a rivalry game i think those are fun i think those
- 52:20[SPEAKER_01]: I'm fine with that.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not fine with it in the rain.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_01]: When like, they can't kick a feel goal in the rain.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_01]: you've already thrown an exception on the drive before and we don't know for sure but like maybe maybe that throws bad for my oven because because uh... it slips off his hand in the rain i don't know whatever it is right but like you don't do that in the rain yeah it's the rain fact what was that that what i like the play just not then what was the trick play that got called back uh... for the legal man downfield what what was the the what what what how did that work
- 53:01[SPEAKER_03]: Like a flee flicker thing was it like a flee flicker or whatever.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_03]: I want to say I guess I wish I remember that play more clearly I guess what my my argument about the wide receiver past thing would be I would rather have McIlem and being the one catching that past than throwing it personally No, yes That's you know, I think that sort of like splitting hairs at a certain point the issue is mostly for me
- 53:27[SPEAKER_03]: that it was raining and you put that in in lemons hands and you gave lemon that responsibility without you know making sure that he knew what to do in case of the play blowing up or if you did it didn't stick and more more than anything it's that it's just that in the context of the game.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think you needed to get that creative to move the ball.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_03]: because USC's offense was functional, despite not being able to run the ball for crap.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_03]: The offense was functional in, it's all like, as it was.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_03]: So this wasn't a situation where USC had to do something weird to get by a Notre Dame defense that was stifling them.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_03]: You could have just kept running your offense.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_01]: No, I, yeah, a thousand percent agree, there was a and Curtis is correct, coaches call plays, players execute them.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_03]: The players didn't execute tonight.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_03]: Jacoby Lane dropped the touchdown pass.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_03]: No, I'm sorry, no, that was intercepted.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_03]: and got into to the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of the rest of
- 55:05[SPEAKER_03]: tonight more than noted aim did i'm i i i don't want to be uh... but i will say like i think one of them was tiki tack at worst tiki tack at work like i don't there was a late hit in the first half that did not get called uh... the face mask on jacobie lane uh... the p i on that inner siff
- 55:26[SPEAKER_03]: There were the other PIs that weren't called.
- 55:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 55:29[SPEAKER_01]: There was a really bad PIs that didn't call in the second drive for the first time.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_03]: There was a whole, the pretty blatant hold on the kickers are in all of that, you know, sort of expected.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_03]: But like, yeah, like, Notre Dame will be complaining about the refs as well.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_03]: And they will have every right to, but like, the refs were just bad.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_03]: They messed up, they called those incompletions, intersections.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_03]: like it's like they assumed that Notre Dame's players were telling them the truth like that they were like well they're saying they intercepted that so we must have intercepted so they must have intercepted it's like what what use your eyes what was the other they didn't call um i want to say was Jeremiah love like
- 56:09[SPEAKER_03]: punching dudes they didn't they when USC got the the legal block in the block in the back penalty they called they didn't call that note room should have lost that down it should have been third and twenty-five or whatever it was it was just like functional mistakes that these
- 56:39[SPEAKER_03]: it was that they were just simply terrible at their job.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_01]: I thought the officiating tonight was very subpar.
- 56:49[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if like they call those, I would be okay with the idea of like, oh, we're going to lean on the side of a turnover so we can overturn it.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_01]: Except that puts
- 57:05[SPEAKER_01]: the onus on the replay to a to 100% have the evidence and given how many times a play will stand because you just you don't have the evidence or like you're pretty sure but you know a million percent sure that's where I can I can I petition for the rest to have the power to say I don't know.
- 57:33[SPEAKER_03]: And let it go to replay and not have it be uphold or overturned on a play that is dead like a play word the right instead of the ref having to decide in that moment which way it went and then have that potentially impact which way the call goes like I would be much more comfortable if
- 57:51[SPEAKER_03]: The ref at the goal line said, you know, what?
- 57:55[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't see if that ball was caught by the defender.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_03]: And I didn't see if that ball was caught by Jacoby Lane.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_03]: Therefore, let's send it to replay without a call.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_03]: Like, let's let replay decide what the call, what the correct call should be, not overturned or whatever.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_01]: I guess the argument there is, if you don't have a call in the fields and there's no conclusive
- 58:18[SPEAKER_01]: evidence one way or the other you have nothing at that point.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 58:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 58:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_01]: There was there was a chat earlier that I missed about how the defense was the problem because of if Notre Dame doesn't have their mistakes.
- 58:33[SPEAKER_01]: They went by three scores.
- 58:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_01]: Notre Dame had a million mistakes too.
- 58:40[SPEAKER_01]: I see it a million mistakes too in this game.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_01]: I think on a play by play basis when you add in all the mistakes, like this game is pretty damn even.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_01]: I know the name running the ball, being effective, running the ball, I think makes up for the difference.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, absolutely.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_01]: But like, yeah, if every opponent is perfect, they're going to beat you by three scores.
- 59:04[SPEAKER_01]: That's, that's usually how, that's, yeah, I, um,
- 59:09[SPEAKER_03]: I put this on Twitter, trying to go find it, the exact, the exact, speaking of Twitter.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_03]: You know what, sorry, side note, what annoys the shit out of me is somebody responding to something that I tweeted in the first quarter at the end of the game as though I was complaining about the entirety of the game.
- 59:33[SPEAKER_03]: because I said in the first quarter that they didn't call an obvious PI and then a Notre Dame fan is like getting in my face about how like, oh, but that you know, Notre Dame had eight penalties for 94 yards.
- 59:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 59:45[SPEAKER_03]: After they didn't call that opening PI, I'm sorry.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_03]: Sorry.
- 59:49[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 59:50[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, what I put on Twitter was USC's defense is not good, but they are a C student who got a D tonight.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_03]: USC's offense is elite.
- 59:59[SPEAKER_03]: They are an A student
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_03]: Like that is where that's where I'm coming from when it comes to the defense.
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_03]: Trust me, I this defense is far far far far from where it should be.
- 1:00:10[SPEAKER_03]: It is at an unacceptable level of defense, but also we know what this defense is.
- 1:00:16[SPEAKER_03]: We know where the weaknesses are and we know that like my best guess is they don't have a better option than Desmond Stevens.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_03]: They don't have a better option than Marcellus Williams.
- 1:00:26[SPEAKER_03]: They don't have a better option.
- 1:00:28[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I don't know.
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_03]: than whatever pairing of defensive tackles that they're throwing in there, they are just they're they're rolling with what they got and what they got is not good enough and should not be acceptable to come into a season as, but they are what they are and what they are is a defense that.
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_03]: will feel not too terrible about the fact that at least they held note a name to three of 11 on third down like like the defense is is one of moral victories three of 11 on third downs was probably enough to put USC in position to win the game even with all of the other bullcrap if USC's offense.
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_03]: plays at the elite level that USC needs this offense to play in order to win games.
- 1:01:16[SPEAKER_01]: I look at it this way.
- 1:01:16[SPEAKER_01]: This game, everybody not just us.
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody who talks about this game all weeks, this was going to be a high scoring game, right?
- 1:01:25[SPEAKER_01]: In a high scoring game, I think you are playing percentages.
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_01]: And I think you are looking for stops more than anything else.
- 1:01:34[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_01]: in a shootout 2.83 points for drive wins you the game Yeah, but you got scorn the points on your half.
- 1:01:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and I see didn't didn't do that.
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_01]: So like, yeah I see it more opportunities to score They settled for fields goals.
- 1:01:56[SPEAKER_01]: They settled for field goals in the first half.
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_03]: They had the turnovers down.
- 1:02:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you see you left a lot of points on the board.
- 1:02:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely All right
- 1:02:08[SPEAKER_03]: uh... md in the truss as i thought to not play great today yeah i thought this was a game where clearly no-terdam was trying to put the lid on uh... mkai and jokobi lane was kind of slow-going getting into it and to not really
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_03]: really picked up his level as a receiver we've seen to look mostly contributed this stage as like a blocker and he's done a pretty good he's he's he's earned his place on the field with the effort that he puts out there but we haven't necessarily seen him do more than like make one big catch in a game and I thought he was readily available and willing and capable of of taking advantage of Notre Dame's attention being elsewhere so that was a really good sign I think that
- 1:02:54[SPEAKER_03]: what you want from from USC going forward is to be able to continue to integrate to look into this offense to the point where he's not just a guy you go to because the other two are covered but a guy you go to because he's now at a point where he's a weapon for you as well and I think we saw much closer to what that looks like in this game than we have before.
- 1:03:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree, um, look at drive stats here in Stapbroke's, by the way, 70 up plus yard drives both teams had three 10 plus play drives both teams had one average yards gained per drive both teams had 36.
- 1:03:43[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, the the difference is the TD rate S C's was 15% Notre Dame's is 33.
- 1:03:53[SPEAKER_01]: only one time that Notre Dame settle for a field, well, I see settled for three and turn the ball over on down in the red zone.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_01]: But also, Notre Dame threw a pick in the red zone.
- 1:04:03[SPEAKER_01]: So if anything, those cancel out.
- 1:04:04[SPEAKER_03]: Well, and a lot of that had to do in my opinion with just the fundamental difference between these, the offenses that were out there against the defenses that were out there.
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_03]: Notre Dame, I think, was more successful in the red zone because they were able to run the ball and just run it and run it and run it and run it.
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_03]: And USC, because they were stifled in the run game, it felt like USC was laboring a little bit in terms of finding space.
- 1:04:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and you know where I am asking questions of this offense.
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I said that they just need to call their offense.
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_01]: And if you just stick to your offense, you will move the ball and you will have success naturally because this is the number one offense in America, right?
- 1:04:50[SPEAKER_01]: But the things I'd like to see S.C. get cute with are the things that they had success with last year in flashes that we just haven't seen more of.
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_01]: The jets, go back and watch the Nebraska game.
- 1:05:06[SPEAKER_01]: They run like five or six jet plays.
- 1:05:09[SPEAKER_01]: And one of them is a triple option jet that picks up a third down.
- 1:05:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's a beautiful pitch from my ava.
- 1:05:16[SPEAKER_01]: And it's a perfectly executed play.
- 1:05:20[SPEAKER_01]: Where were any of those?
- 1:05:21[SPEAKER_01]: And I know that tonight is maybe not the night to ask for those.
- 1:05:25[SPEAKER_01]: You don't want to ask for it.
- 1:05:26[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, they should have done speed option in the rain.
- 1:05:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm not going to sit here and say that.
- 1:05:31[SPEAKER_01]: But like, they had a million zone reads that they ran against Illinois.
- 1:05:37[SPEAKER_01]: They had a bunch against Michigan State.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it was weird.
- 1:05:42[SPEAKER_03]: It was weird the way it felt like USC wasn't doing the not just the read options on read game, but like I didn't notice USC doing too many RPOs either.
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_03]: or not, maybe not, maybe just in the hand off and not taking the RPO, maybe Notre Dame was taken away.
- 1:06:00[SPEAKER_01]: There was a lot of man coverage that was tight and taking away screens, I would imagine that a lot of those RPOs were killed off that way.
- 1:06:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but I think you're right too, and I think this is a personnel situation.
- 1:06:15[SPEAKER_03]: If you had women, Jordan or Eli Sanders, I think you're probably trying to run outside a little bit more often.
- 1:06:22[SPEAKER_03]: I don't sure.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think USC even attempted to run outside in this game and, you know, King Miller has sort of north-south speed and obviously Brian Jackson is north-south runner.
- 1:06:34[SPEAKER_03]: He's not going to, you know, beat anybody to the edge.
- 1:06:37[SPEAKER_03]: The one time USC tried to beat them to the edge was by putting us on long street in the game.
- 1:06:41[SPEAKER_03]: The problem being is, and this is only when mentioned the last time a song was out there,
- 1:06:45[SPEAKER_03]: U.S.E.
- 1:06:47[SPEAKER_03]: could need.
- 1:06:48[SPEAKER_03]: U.S.E.
- 1:06:49[SPEAKER_03]: needed to include a couple Hassan long street plays in like every game.
- 1:06:56[SPEAKER_03]: And it's too telegram.
- 1:06:58[SPEAKER_03]: And one like they need to be one where he runs and one where he passes if you are handed off for something.
- 1:07:04[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, if if you don't let him do anything but hold the ball himself, you are telegrapping to the other team.
- 1:07:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:07:10[SPEAKER_03]: that when he is in the game he is going to run the ball and I think Notre Dame read that beautifully and it was also a really like again like credit to Notre Dame's defense their individual players that's a great angle that's great closing speed to shut that down because the blocking was there.
- 1:07:25[SPEAKER_03]: They had gotten the blocks they needed to get outside it's just that I wanted it was the safety I think who just made a B-line to it and made the stop so you know sometimes that's that But I think it's USE made it a little bit too easy for that for that safety to know exactly what was going to happen on that play Yeah, I thought Notre Dame's game plan defensively was fantastic They did go the nuclear route and put Leonard Moore in the slot on my Kylemon
- 1:07:53[SPEAKER_01]: They, they won that matchup, I think.
- 1:07:56[SPEAKER_01]: McCoy Lemon has the one big play, but like playing and play out, he was taking out the game because of that.
- 1:08:04[SPEAKER_01]: They clearly watched all the film, right?
- 1:08:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like, the funny thing is he, his tunnel screens.
- 1:08:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no tunnel screens, because there was no opportunity to do them.
- 1:08:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:08:13[SPEAKER_03]: They blew up one by just blowing up came, like they just blocked his route out.
- 1:08:19[SPEAKER_01]: And I love that time when
- 1:08:22[SPEAKER_01]: They were in zone, and Blacklitch called this out on the broadcast, right?
- 1:08:28[SPEAKER_01]: Where lettered more is outside, which is sort of the indicated if they're in zone, right?
- 1:08:35[SPEAKER_01]: And my other change is everything at the line, and goes into bubble screen, and pick up five yards, Blacklitch, it was like, how they just don't get much on that.
- 1:08:46[SPEAKER_01]: five yard bubble screen fine.
- 1:08:48[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care.
- 1:08:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like you take the five yard bubble screen when your SEC's moving the ball, but like since you're not being able to run, it's also difficult to move the ball, you take the five yard bubble screen.
- 1:09:00[SPEAKER_01]: It was taking what the defense gave you.
- 1:09:03[SPEAKER_01]: I liked that kind of thing.
- 1:09:04[SPEAKER_01]: I would have liked to just see more of that.
- 1:09:06[SPEAKER_01]: And that's an as another thing.
- 1:09:08[SPEAKER_03]: I would love to go back and watch this more closely.
- 1:09:12[SPEAKER_03]: And even better it would
- 1:09:16[SPEAKER_03]: did it feel like to you at all like, and I don't think I have a played poorly, but it did feel a little bit like my obba was channeling calibrilliums in that
- 1:09:29[SPEAKER_03]: When things weren't immediately available, his instinct was to jack it up deep and see what would happen.
- 1:09:37[SPEAKER_03]: Instead of take the shorter game, take the smaller game.
- 1:09:41[SPEAKER_01]: But at night, when they were calling PI very closely, I don't know if they were, I don't know if they were.
- 1:09:47[SPEAKER_01]: I guess the point I'm trying to make here is like,
- 1:09:51[SPEAKER_01]: Notre Dame had a fantastic game plan.
- 1:09:53[SPEAKER_01]: Notre Dame played really well defensively to hold S.C. and check, hold McKay Lemon and check.
- 1:09:58[SPEAKER_01]: Take away the run, all those things, which is why I think my prevailing point here is this would have been a more palatable loss for S.C. if you lost, trying to do what you're good at, right?
- 1:10:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you lost this game because Leonard Moore made a play on McKay Lemon on a fourth down.
- 1:10:17[SPEAKER_01]: Right, you know what I mean?
- 1:10:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, like like you lost this play because you did your you you did your thing and you got beat doing your thing and like you got beat But I see loses these fourth down plays by going off script and That's that's what's for it because it's like I
- 1:10:40[SPEAKER_01]: Run this snake and get stuffed on the snake.
- 1:10:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 1:10:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:10:43[SPEAKER_01]: Get stuffed on the snake and you could say you were beat on the snake.
- 1:10:46[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sympathetic to them not wanting to run that snake because of the way that Notre Dame's defensive line had been.
- 1:10:52[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well, the snake, you can run off the snake.
- 1:10:54[SPEAKER_01]: You can run off the snake.
- 1:10:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, exactly.
- 1:10:57[SPEAKER_03]: Like if you don't want to run the snake because you have good reason not to run the snake, that's fine.
- 1:11:02[SPEAKER_03]: Because don't run the stupid tight end play that literally has not worked in years.
- 1:11:08[SPEAKER_03]: That play has not gotten USC more than two yards at any given point in the entirety of the Lincoln Rylera.
- 1:11:14[SPEAKER_03]: Looks so beautifully.
- 1:11:16[SPEAKER_03]: In NCAA.
- 1:11:17[SPEAKER_03]: I know.
- 1:11:17[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sorry to see it be whatever.
- 1:11:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, see that be 26.
- 1:11:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:11:20[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 1:11:20[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to wrap up there.
- 1:11:22[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be back Monday to talk more U.S.E.
- 1:11:25[SPEAKER_01]: football.
- 1:11:26[SPEAKER_01]: Really?
- 1:11:27[SPEAKER_03]: Can I just point out too?
- 1:11:30[SPEAKER_03]: This is also a prime example of why I don't really care that much about penalties and the whole, like, oh, you have seen the most penalized team, but like, you have seen as one penalty for five yards in this game.
- 1:11:40[SPEAKER_03]: Notre Dame has eight for 96 and who wins.
- 1:11:45[SPEAKER_01]: Well, again, Notre Dame's game plan in this was don't get beat.
- 1:11:51[SPEAKER_01]: And they were willing to take the the PIs by being handsy and again in a game like this you're playing the percentages And this is why like I'm I'm not okay with SC giving up 300 rushing yards I'm not saying that what I'm saying is like FC played the percentages their game plan wise and still got the stops Notre Dame play the percentages and got the stops themselves
- 1:12:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I guess, you know, Kudos to Notre Dame's defense of gameplay and for that, because they're stops more beneficial, right?
- 1:12:27[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 1:12:29[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we'll be back Monday, an hourly 3 p.m. Pacific time on Monday.
- 1:12:33[SPEAKER_01]: 3 p.m. 3 p.m. as one one special time for a special pod.
- 1:12:40[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to follow that episode to talk about everything here.
- 1:12:42[SPEAKER_01]: Rotometer.
- 1:12:44[SPEAKER_01]: There is a link in the
- 1:12:46[SPEAKER_01]: Description if you're watching on YouTube down in the doobly do go click that link tell us where you feel about the Trojans going forward Where's your rado me to right now?
- 1:12:56[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, wait, where's yours?
- 1:12:57[SPEAKER_01]: Lisa?
- 1:12:58[SPEAKER_03]: I'm broken Michael.
- 1:13:00[SPEAKER_03]: I'm broken.
- 1:13:01[SPEAKER_03]: It's it's it's a one.
- 1:13:05[SPEAKER_03]: Oh One
- 1:13:07[SPEAKER_03]: I guess it's a completely unfair one, but I'm I just I can't I Okay, if you see comes out and beat goes on the road and beats Nebraska
- 1:13:23[SPEAKER_03]: Even though Nebraska's not ranked anymore, they lost the last today all that kind of I will still count beating Nebraska on the road as a really quality win for a team that needs to show they can win on the road.
- 1:13:34[SPEAKER_03]: If they beat Nebraska, if they go to Oregon and go toe to toe with Oregon and don't even have to beat Oregon, but at least be in the game against Oregon.
- 1:13:53[SPEAKER_03]: Do I think this season was a massive failure?
- 1:13:56[SPEAKER_03]: No, I wouldn't count this season as a massive failure.
- 1:13:59[SPEAKER_03]: My problem is, USC has still not showed me.
- 1:14:04[SPEAKER_03]: They can win on the road against anybody but Purdue.
- 1:14:09[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm not going to pencil in Nebraska as a win and I'm not going to pencil in Iowa as a win or Northwestern or you see a lay by the way, so no I'm at a one because I am traumatized and I will not let USC trick me into being at anything but a one until USC proves that I should be higher
- 1:14:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no I think that's fair.
- 1:14:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's totally fair.
- 1:14:36[SPEAKER_01]: I've also I've seen people in the chat say to have it in five.
- 1:14:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's I think that's a little overkill.
- 1:14:41[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my, my rotometer if we're judging my chances on SC winning a national championship this year next year whatever I think yeah, I think it's like a one or one and a half or whatever
- 1:14:54[SPEAKER_01]: If we're talking about Ashley's ability to get wins for the remainder of the season, get to the playoff and all that kind of stuff, I think my rudder matters like a five.
- 1:15:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's, I think they played well enough tonight to go nine and three.
- 1:15:11[SPEAKER_01]: The problem is, to your point, like, is that an impressive nine and three considering
- 1:15:23[SPEAKER_01]: one road game against a competitive team.
- 1:15:28[SPEAKER_01]: Probably not, but also at the beginning of the season, we would have taken nine or three.
- 1:15:31[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know what I mean?
- 1:15:33[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 1:15:35[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 1:15:36[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, anyways, that's where the cookie crumbles.
- 1:15:38[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, eight and four, nine and four is what we have in the chat here.
- 1:15:41[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, and then, uh, Tim and L.A. said careful not to screen your fingers running to the Rado meter and turning it down too quickly.
- 1:15:49[SPEAKER_01]: So, that's where we stand.
- 1:15:51[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we'll be back Monday, 3 p.m. 3 p.m. Monday, special one week time frame.
- 1:15:59[SPEAKER_01]: Special time or one episode.
- 1:16:01[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 1:16:03[SPEAKER_01]: Until then, we will see you.
- 1:16:06[SPEAKER_01]: See you.
