- 0:05Speaker 1: The Committee will come to order them. Today, we are
- 0:09Speaker 1: going to dive into reckless and wasteful spending of our
- 0:12Speaker 1: federal government, particularly when it comes to foreign aid. The
- 0:15Speaker 1: United States should not be the sugar daddy for the
- 0:17Speaker 1: entire world, especially not for countries and organizations who act
- 0:21Speaker 1: contrary to our nation's beliefs. Our country is thirty six
- 0:24Speaker 1: trillion dollars in debt, yet we continue to send billions
- 0:28Speaker 1: of dollars overseas, often funding projects that are not just useless,
- 0:32Speaker 1: but in many cases actively harmful. Taking the path to
- 0:36Speaker 1: fiscal responsibility is often a lonely journey, but thanks to
- 0:40Speaker 1: Elon Musk and Doze, they've brought to light the waste
- 0:43Speaker 1: that I've been highlighting for over the last decade. Every
- 0:46Speaker 1: year I released my Festivust Report to expose the ridiculous
- 0:49Speaker 1: spending of the federal government, and this past year was
- 0:52Speaker 1: no exception. I uncovered over a trillion dollars in government waste,
- 0:57Speaker 1: with the State Department and Usaaid being some of the
- 1:01Speaker 1: worst defenders. Let me give you just a few examples
- 1:04Speaker 1: of what these unelected bureaucrats are spending your hard earned money.
- 1:07Speaker 1: On four point eight million dollars went to Ukraine's Public
- 1:12Speaker 1: Affairs office in Kiev to fund social media influencers instead
- 1:18Speaker 1: of protecting our own border. Two point one million dollars
- 1:22Speaker 1: was sent to Paraguay to enhance their border security. USAID
- 1:30Speaker 1: also funded a group of Ukrainian women led designers to
- 1:34Speaker 1: travel to the Paris Fashion Show. I don't know about you,
- 1:37Speaker 1: but i'd imagine Ukrainian women have more important things to
- 1:40Speaker 1: worry about than appearing in the Paris fashion Show. USAID
- 1:44Speaker 1: spent two million dollars on transgender surgeries, hormone therapy and
- 1:49Speaker 1: gender firming care in Guatemalam. Three million dollars was spent
- 1:55Speaker 1: to promote girl centric climate action in Brazil to picture
- 2:00Speaker 1: what a conversation about girl centered climate action looks like.
- 2:04Speaker 1: It's like, hey, Barbie, do you know what girls centered
- 2:06Speaker 1: climate change is? Since when do we believe arguments need
- 2:10Speaker 1: to be tailored for girls to understand? How insulting to
- 2:13Speaker 1: women at large that they think there are special arguments
- 2:16Speaker 1: for girls to understand that are different than boys. Twenty
- 2:20Speaker 1: five thousand dollars to fund a transgender opera in Colombia.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Was nobody in Colombia willing to buy a ticket. USAID
- 2:28Speaker 1: spent thirty two thousand dollars in Peru to create a
- 2:31Speaker 1: comic featuring a trans hero to address social and mental
- 2:35Speaker 1: health issues. What does that have to do with diplomacy?
- 2:38Speaker 1: Twenty thousand dollars to fund a DEI program for a
- 2:41Speaker 1: drag theater in Ecuador. Twenty million dollars was spent to
- 2:46Speaker 1: produce a new sesame street show in Iraq. USAID spent
- 2:51Speaker 1: six million dollars to promote a project boosting sustainable tourism
- 2:56Speaker 1: in Egypt. I guess the US is now the traveler
- 3:00Speaker 1: for the entire world, since they spent fifty million dollars
- 3:04Speaker 1: on Tunisias tourism, even though it's already one of the
- 3:07Speaker 1: most visited countries in Africa. USAID gave eighty seven point
- 3:13Speaker 1: nine million to help Afghans farm and incidentally farm poppy,
- 3:18Speaker 1: the plant from which opium is extracted. As of twenty
- 3:21Speaker 1: twenty one, Afghanistans supplied ninety percent of the world's heroin.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I thought the saying in the US was just say
- 3:27Speaker 1: no to drugs. How about we just say no to
- 3:29Speaker 1: wasteful foreign aid. Seventy thousand dollars for a live musical
- 3:34Speaker 1: event to promote Diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility. In Ireland,
- 3:40Speaker 1: State Department paid three hundred and thirty thousand to compile
- 3:43Speaker 1: a disinformation index to blacklist conservative media outlets. USID funneled
- 3:50Speaker 1: over fifty four million dollars to Eco Health Alliance, funding,
- 3:54Speaker 1: the very organization linked to the Wuhan Institute of Arology,
- 3:58Speaker 1: the likely origin of the COVID NIGHTE teen pandemic. Disgraceful
- 4:02Speaker 1: fifteen million dollars was awarded to Taliban controlled Afghanistan to
- 4:07Speaker 1: distribute oral contraceptives and condoms. There's still a three billion
- 4:12Speaker 1: dollar fund for afghan reconstruction that I've tried to take
- 4:16Speaker 1: that money to pay for other things that the government
- 4:19Speaker 1: is spending money on, and yet there's been resistance by
- 4:22Speaker 1: the other side to deplete that fund and say we're
- 4:24Speaker 1: done funding things in Afghanistan. This is just the tip
- 4:28Speaker 1: of the iceberg. These are taxpayer dollars being used to
- 4:32Speaker 1: fund ideologically misguided, ineffective, and unnecessary projects thanks to the
- 4:38Speaker 1: blundering bureaucracy, while our own citizens struggle to put food
- 4:41Speaker 1: on the table. This is not what our government was
- 4:44Speaker 1: designed to do. The US government is not a charity
- 4:47Speaker 1: and it should not be doling out cash to foreign organization,
- 4:51Speaker 1: some of which actively oppose the United States, with no oversight,
- 4:55Speaker 1: and we don't have the money to give, we're borrowing
- 4:57Speaker 1: the money we send. We need to ask a simple question,
- 5:01Speaker 1: why are we borrowing money to send money overseas? Even
- 5:04Speaker 1: if USAIDEA eliminated the crazy left wing grants for trans operas,
- 5:09Speaker 1: it still makes no sense to borrow money to then
- 5:12Speaker 1: turn around and send it overseas. Borrowing money to send
- 5:15Speaker 1: his charity is like the worker who has no money
- 5:18Speaker 1: left after paying for their food, rent, and gas, saying, well,
- 5:21Speaker 1: I see this homeless person, have such great sympathy, I'll
- 5:24Speaker 1: go to the bank and I'll borrow a thousand dollars
- 5:26Speaker 1: to give to this person. That's what we are doing.
- 5:28Speaker 1: We can't pay for our own and we are borrowing
- 5:31Speaker 1: the money we send overseas. That money could be used
- 5:34Speaker 1: to pay down our thirty six trillion dollar debt and
- 5:38Speaker 1: take care of the American people, the very people who
- 5:40Speaker 1: actually pay these taxes in the first place. It's time
- 5:43Speaker 1: for a real change. Americas should not continue to be
- 5:47Speaker 1: the world's piggybank. It's time to end the waste of
- 5:50Speaker 1: foreign aid and end the bureaucracy, and for once do
- 5:53Speaker 1: what's right by the American tax payer. With that, I
- 5:58Speaker 1: recognize the ranking Member for opening remarks. Thank you, thank you,
- 6:03Speaker 1: mister Chairman.
