Transcript
- 0:51Well, hello, ladies and gentlemen.
- 0:53My name is Brett Keane and you're watching and listening to
- 0:55the Brett Keane Show. I hope that a lot of you have
- 0:58had the opportunity to check out my international radio station
- 1:02that seems to be doing really, really well.
- 1:05I'm doing 100 times better on my radio station than I'm doing on
- 1:09YouTube. I don't know if many of you been
- 1:11noticing lately, but YouTube has been extremely boring.
- 1:16It's been dull. A lot of people are just simply
- 1:19not making videos. People are leaving YouTube.
- 1:23People are talking about leaving YouTube.
- 1:25And of course the people who run YouTube are absolute assholes
- 1:29who are screwing a lot of folks over.
- 1:32Demonetizing, kicking people whether they want to go or not.
- 1:36So I guess a lot of folks are running towards Rumble or many
- 1:41other video sites. Well, when you get an
- 1:45opportunity, if you're not checking out my radio station,
- 1:48you can check out my merchandise, you can check out
- 1:51my shirts. And also I've written books.
- 1:54If you're into reading scifi or science fiction, fantasy, that
- 1:59type of stuff, dark horror, then my books are right up your
- 2:03alley. And of course I do music.
- 2:06I'm in the graphic design, art and all this.
- 2:10Well, besides doing all that stuff on Friday 7:00 PM Central,
- 2:14I'm going to be doing a live show.
- 2:17Now I have rules to my show. You're allowed to cuss.
- 2:20You're allowed to act like a damn fool.
- 2:22If you want to. We can talk, we can debate, we
- 2:25can discuss. The only rule that I have is
- 2:29that before my music drops, I do about a 10 minute intro where I
- 2:35do music and announce that the show's going to begin.
- 2:39While I'm getting my technical stuff together now, I don't
- 2:44enjoy doing live shows by myself.
- 2:47I usually have a set of topics together, but I usually wanted
- 2:51to, where there's at least one person in before the music.
- 2:55Before the intro drops, you're able to come in right away and
- 2:59you just wait for that music to go and then I'll be on the
- 3:03screen and then I'll bring you up and then we can talk.
- 3:07I don't want to be sitting there by myself talking for 20-30
- 3:11minutes all by myself for an hour, waiting for people to come
- 3:14in. So if I don't have at least one
- 3:17person, I will shut it down within 15 minutes after doing my
- 3:21intro. If at least one friend or
- 3:23stranger comes in and has a conversation with me, that is
- 3:28the reason why I do like shows, so I can talk to people.
- 3:32If I want to do a solo video, well, I've already got 500 to
- 3:351000 of those made the chat. The shows are about chatting
- 3:41with you and hearing your views and perspectives and ideas.
- 3:45And Speaking of perspectives and ideas, as many of you know, on
- 3:49my community page I put a poll system up and I asked people
- 3:55what would you like me to make a video about?
- 3:56What would you like me to talk about?
- 4:00It could be anything from advice to Do you want me to talk about
- 4:04God, religion, atheism, politics, the state of the world
- 4:10and reality, existence? It could be anything from What's
- 4:14your view on this book or this movie or this game?
- 4:18Or on this subject matter having to do with sociology or
- 4:22psychology. And a lot of you have said that
- 4:25you want to hear my thoughts on parenting.
- 4:29I gave a topic about bad parenting up there.
- 4:33So many of you voted for that. So today we're going to discuss
- 4:38that. And remember, Friday, 7:00 PM
- 4:41Central, I'll be doing a live show.
- 4:43If there's any videos that you disagree with or you have
- 4:47something that you want to say about it, that's the time to do
- 4:50it. All right?
- 4:52So I'm not a professional therapist.
- 4:56I'm not a psychiatrist. I'm not a doctor.
- 5:00I don't have any credentials for any of that shed.
- 5:02I've never went to school for being a teacher or a
- 5:07professional parenting therapist or any of this shed or
- 5:10counselor. But I can tell you that I have
- 5:13the cred, the street credibility of actually being a father of
- 5:17two successful children who are now in their 20s.
- 5:22I have a son that just recently turned 25 years old.
- 5:25He had him a cake. Ice cream and all that.
- 5:29And we watched some Star Trek Strange World shows together
- 5:33recently and talked and chilled. My son has a beautiful working
- 5:39young lady in his life. He's may marry her.
- 5:43He's his views on marriage are unusual because of how
- 5:49relationships work nowadays in our modern times.
- 5:54A lot of a lot of strange women out there, a lot of women out
- 5:58there take advantage of young men, so he's taking his time
- 6:02with it. There's a lot of boys out there
- 6:05and young men who jump right into relationships and then they
- 6:09find themselves getting screwed or whatever.
- 6:12But I've taught my son all of his life that whether it's a guy
- 6:15or a woman, friendship, relationship, whatever.
- 6:19The deal is always get to know them as well as you possibly can
- 6:24before you make the decision to tie the knot or commit yourself
- 6:28to anything. That's what I've taught my son
- 6:30and daughter, My son, I'm at 25. My daughter is 21.
- 6:39A few months ago she had a birthday.
- 6:41She also got her a new truck. My son doesn't need a new
- 6:46vehicle because when he started driving, he ride out the bat,
- 6:50got him a new truck. So she's been having some tough
- 6:54times with driving. She's got a lot of anxiety.
- 7:00She's been involved in a car accident whenever she was a
- 7:02child. My wife was driving to an
- 7:05intersection. She had the right of way and
- 7:08somebody slammed in the vehicle and almost killed my wife and my
- 7:11daughter. And ever since then my daughter
- 7:13has had anxiety. She's okay with sitting in the
- 7:17passenger side but driving. And on top of that, she's seen
- 7:21repeated car accidents throughout her life.
- 7:25On the highway. Yeah, my wife and daughter were
- 7:28almost killed in a car accident many years ago.
- 7:31I didn't talk about that back in the day.
- 7:34Very often during that time I was having a lot of social media
- 7:38problems and I was kind of just dealing with whenever I made
- 7:44videos, just talking about the usual topics I got into.
- 7:48My wife is okay now and so is my daughter, but that is something
- 7:54that happened. Well, as far as parenting goes,
- 7:58I remember thinking whenever I was younger, whenever I started
- 8:02to get to the point where I started thinking, do I want a
- 8:04family, do I want to get married, do I want to be in a
- 8:08relationship, All this kind of stuff.
- 8:11I remember thinking that it was very scary and I also had very
- 8:16negative views about having children or bringing them into
- 8:20the world when I was younger because my parents were such
- 8:23failures. My mother and father, they had
- 8:27some good things about them, but they were not good as parents.
- 8:32They weren't even really decent as people.
- 8:35They were very self absorbed. My father was very into car
- 8:40restoration and mechanic stuff and he seemed as though he
- 8:44preferred either going solo fishing by himself or working on
- 8:49cars all day as opposed to spending time with sons or
- 8:52daughters or kids. In fact, he made it pretty clear
- 8:56to me whenever I was younger he didn't even want to be a parent,
- 9:00that apparently my mother wasn't doing her birth control
- 9:05properly. Yes, my father actually told me
- 9:08that it's probably one of the most wicked things a parent can
- 9:10tell you, but my father has never been one of those people
- 9:14that holds back his feelings or his thoughts.
- 9:16Or that is one thing about my dad that some people like is
- 9:20they like the fact that he's truthful and he won't.
- 9:24He doesn't give a shit if he hurts people's feelings, even if
- 9:27they're his own kids. So if you don't want to know
- 9:30something, my dad's not this type of person.
- 9:33You want to ask unless you're ready for the fucking cold
- 9:35hearted truth. My mother was a bipolar manic
- 9:39depressive who was on so many medications she was referred to
- 9:43as the human pharmacy. So watching them fail repeatedly
- 9:47at the parenting accomplishment, it made me think that.
- 9:53It made me believe on a psychological level that if I
- 9:56ever had kids, I probably wouldn't be very good at it.
- 9:59And I also watched other family members.
- 10:01I watched my friends and seeing how their parents were, and I
- 10:06seen how some people turned out later on in life.
- 10:09I'm now 45 years old. I was born in 1976.
- 10:13I've seen countless marriages go bad.
- 10:17I've seen countless parenting go bad, where kids ended up getting
- 10:20on drugs, joining gangs, getting into bad shit, failing at
- 10:25school. I've seen young women get
- 10:27pregnant before they're even grown up enough to even be
- 10:32considered anything but a kid themself.
- 10:35So I really didn't have any reason to think at all that
- 10:40having children myself would be a good idea.
- 10:44And on top of that, I've always been pretty damn poor.
- 10:48Not poor like in living in Africa pulling flies and maggots
- 10:52out of my fucking hair. Kind of poor, but the kind of
- 10:55poor that makes it harder to take care of a home that you
- 11:00own. Paying bills, all that kind of
- 11:03shit. I'm one of those type of people
- 11:06and middle America who find it very difficult to afford health
- 11:10insurance. In fact, they don't even have
- 11:13any. I either have to choose between
- 11:15Netflix, live streaming or being able to get worked on when I get
- 11:21sick. I come from a family, a lot of
- 11:25them Iris and Indian, and their attitude is unless you're
- 11:28fucking dying, you don't need to go to a hospital.
- 11:32You know if you got fucking cancer, their words are wow.
- 11:37You'll just shrug it off, you fucker.
- 11:39You'll be fine. What doesn't kill you makes you
- 11:44stronger. Why do I need to buy you some
- 11:47floss and toothpaste? Just use a fucking rusty nail.
- 11:50That kind of attitude, Yeah, it's like that.
- 11:55I originally grew up and lived in the city for the longest
- 11:58fucking time and then I moved out in the country and it
- 12:02literally is country. I'm so far out in the fucking
- 12:06woods, ladies and gentlemen, that Jason Voorhees would get
- 12:08lost and be horrified if he tried to walk around here, even
- 12:13though we've got lakes and ponds and rivers and shed.
- 12:20So eventually, obviously, I got older.
- 12:24I ended up meeting a really good woman.
- 12:27I got the nowhere for quite a few years before I tied the knot
- 12:31with her and put a ring on her finger.
- 12:34I remember we had talked off and aren't about doing the whole
- 12:39marriage thing, but I kept on thinking to myself, why do we
- 12:42need a piece of paper? Why do we need a court or church
- 12:45to tell us we're official? As far as I was concerned, I was
- 12:49getting all the benefits of what you'd get in a marriage anyway.
- 12:53But as time went by, my wife, who would become my wife, did
- 13:00decide that it was very important to her.
- 13:03She wanted to have that. She wanted to be able to say,
- 13:07yes, I'm I'm like legally married to this man and we went
- 13:12ahead and debt it. And I think one of the major
- 13:14reasons that convinced me is because one I knew that it would
- 13:20help our the income basis. When you're married to someone,
- 13:25you kind of share the whole taxes and all that kind of
- 13:28stuff. And also, I didn't want my son
- 13:32to be born into a world where his parents weren't actually
- 13:36married. I felt like that was important.
- 13:39So although I loved my woman who would become my wife, it was
- 13:44also important that if I was going to have children that they
- 13:47know that their parents are official, that they're legal and
- 13:52all that kind of stuff, if that makes sense now.
- 13:56I did it for all those reasons before, but later on in my life
- 14:02I'm very happy that I did all that, but most of it was for
- 14:07kind of appropriate reasons or what kind of fit in society.
- 14:12But nowadays I'm glad that I'm married.
- 14:15I'm glad that me and my wife tied the knot.
- 14:18I think that it was a good decision on the basis of love
- 14:22and caring and all that. I'm just saying that during the
- 14:24time I had a different mindset, well, I found out something
- 14:35shocking. I found out that if you bring
- 14:39children into the world and you love them, you spend time with
- 14:44them. Don't be so quick to yelling and
- 14:47screaming or disciplining them by whipping their ass, but
- 14:50actually when they make a mistake or do something wrong,
- 14:54if you can find the patients and yourself to sit down with your
- 14:57kids, explain why something is fucking wrong or immoral or
- 15:02something they shouldn't do. And also explain in great detail
- 15:06what the fucking consequences are of, you know, playing out in
- 15:10the street or drinking poison. That kind of shit.
- 15:14And you give them advice and suggestions and actually pay
- 15:17attention to them and also learn how to not only instruct but
- 15:23also listen to your child. Because believe it or not, as
- 15:28children get older, they start getting really good at
- 15:30communicating what it is that will make them happy, what that
- 15:34will make them feel good. And if you don't look at them
- 15:38like some parents do, as if they're your fucking property,
- 15:41but actually look at them as another human being who didn't
- 15:45ask or choose to be in this fucking world.
- 15:49If you think of them as another person and not just a part of
- 15:53you or just something that you made the decision to have, you
- 15:58think of them as a person who has a mind, a brain free will,
- 16:03and make choices. They're sentient and have a
- 16:06heart as well, and you treat them as such.
- 16:10Surprisingly, you will learn that you will have constructed
- 16:17some decent human beings on the planet, that you will actually
- 16:22have kids that you can be proud of and never disappointed in if
- 16:27you keep what I'm telling you in mind.
- 16:30Too many fucking parents out there.
- 16:32They want a carbon copy of themself.
- 16:35They feel like if their kids don't go from A to B and do
- 16:40things like they do immediately, then their kids ain't worth the
- 16:43shit. There's parents out there
- 16:46nowadays that force their kids to do things that their children
- 16:50don't want. I think that if a kid doesn't
- 16:53want to do something then you shouldn't make them do it.
- 16:56Like for instance my kids told me whenever they were younger I
- 16:59suggested and encourage them to go to church.
- 17:02They said no, don't want to go to church.
- 17:06They were willing to have conversations with their father
- 17:09and their mother about a higher power or the concept of God or
- 17:13their belief system. But they didn't want to go to
- 17:15some church where they were surrounded by strangers
- 17:19listening to some imperfect man behind a podium tell them how to
- 17:23walk with God. They figured if they were going
- 17:26to get any good spiritual advice, it would be from the
- 17:29people that they trusted and loved, people that wouldn't rob
- 17:32them one day down the road or do something scandalous or sinful
- 17:37in their eyes whenever it came to entertainment or anything in
- 17:43this world. You know, if my kids said I need
- 17:46some clothes, if I need this, if I need that, I made sure they
- 17:50had it. They knew summer was almost up.
- 17:53They were getting ready to go back to school.
- 17:55We would sit down and say, what do you need for school?
- 17:57What do you need in order to be as useful as possible in the
- 18:01classroom? The kids would put out a list
- 18:04for me, we'd go to the store and we would get what they needed.
- 18:09A lot of parents nowadays, they don't even care when they're
- 18:12going grocery shopping. They want the kid to be quiet.
- 18:16Instead of telling the kid to be quiet and expect the kid to be
- 18:20completely chill out in the store, why don't you try having
- 18:23a conversation with them? Like say, So what do you think?
- 18:26Should we get some milk and orange juice?
- 18:28Should we get this? Tell them that the orange juice
- 18:32has vitamins in it. That milk in some ways, is good
- 18:35for you. Unless you got a relative who's
- 18:37got some kind of problem with drinking milk.
- 18:42I forget what the word is called lactose or something.
- 18:44I've got some family members like that where they get sick if
- 18:47they drink milk, so they get the shits.
- 18:50So you got to be careful with that.
- 18:53So I ended up finding out that as long as you love your kids,
- 18:58as long as you truly, sincerely love your kids, your kids are
- 19:01going to feel that vibe. They're going to know it.
- 19:05And I also discovered that kids tend to respect you if they're
- 19:09doing something wrong, and you make sure you spend time with
- 19:13them explaining things. They really appreciate that.
- 19:18They really appreciate the fact. And even if it seems like at the
- 19:23moment when you're disciplining them that they're not enjoying
- 19:26it or they're rolling their eyes, later on they will be
- 19:30telling you stories. That I remember when I was
- 19:33little, Dad, and you did this and you told me that.
- 19:36And I remember I wasn't happy then.
- 19:38But I thank you for, you know, what you've done, how you
- 19:43fathered me, how you were the man in my life that took care of
- 19:47us and all that kind of thing. That's one thing you got to
- 19:51realize by kids. Nobody likes to be told that
- 19:54they're doing wrong. Nobody likes to be told you're
- 19:58not doing that right. But if you do it in a sensible,
- 20:02decent way, like you would with any other human being.
- 20:06You're not going to offend them or hurt them or make them feel
- 20:09uncomfortable or awkward in that position.
- 20:14A lot of parents nowadays, I've noticed whenever I've had a lot
- 20:19of friends, where some of them, their parents would just the
- 20:22first thing they would do when they were mad at their kid was
- 20:25yell or scream on top of their lungs or instantly tell them to
- 20:29get in their damn room where you're grounded.
- 20:31Or you know, some parents, I watched them beat the shit out
- 20:35of their kids and all that over something trivial or minute.
- 20:41I got to say that. And all the time that I have
- 20:45been a father, I've only had to spank my son once, give him a
- 20:49couple swats across the ass because he decided that he
- 20:53wanted to grab some stuff out of the store whenever we were
- 20:56getting ready to leave. And I had already explained to
- 20:59him a few times that you don't take things that aren't yours.
- 21:02He was still a a young boy whenever he did it.
- 21:05So you know, I didn't get all, you know, Charles Bronson on his
- 21:11ass or anything, but I gave him a couple swats and I said that's
- 21:14no, no. And because I rarely ever
- 21:17spanked him or rarely did anything, that was the first
- 21:20time I remember him thinking, man, I don't want any more of
- 21:24that shit. I don't want Dad's big old hand
- 21:27or Paul going across my ass in a mall like fashion.
- 21:30So that I took care of that. Yep.
- 21:37I see a lot of parenting. A lot of parents do wrong
- 21:41because a lot of them don't seem like they ever want to have
- 21:45kids. They don't seem like they want
- 21:48to be patient. A lot of parents have gotten
- 21:51into this routine where they work all day and then they don't
- 21:55spend any time with their kids. When they do come home, they're
- 21:58exhausted, they're tired, They're pissed off about their
- 22:01day, and then they either take it out on their spouse or the
- 22:04children that they have and they're rarely there and they
- 22:09leave it up to the government and the schools to raise their
- 22:12children for them or their grandparents and all that kind
- 22:15of shit. I didn't have that benefit when
- 22:19my kids were growing up. My grandmother ended up dying
- 22:25and my real mother ended up passing away years back while my
- 22:29boy was still a baby. So my kids never had that.
- 22:37There was never anybody I could call on the phone and say, hey,
- 22:41can you watch my kids? Can you do this?
- 22:44And plus I have. Me and my wife had seen so many
- 22:47videos and so much shit where people would hire babysitters
- 22:51and then the babysitters would abuse the kids or do horrible
- 22:55things to them and shit or scared them.
- 22:57So my wife and I decided if we're going to bring kids in the
- 23:01world, then we're going to be responsible for them.
- 23:04When we go to the store, we take them with us, We go anywhere the
- 23:08kids come with us. And that also kind of helped us
- 23:12because it kept us away from parties.
- 23:14It kept us away from shit that might have got some young adults
- 23:18like my wife and I in serious trouble.
- 23:21If we were only willing to go places that were acceptable for
- 23:24children, then that meant that we weren't going to be the kind
- 23:27of parents that were going out the bars and drinking and doing
- 23:30stupid shit. Instead, we were being the
- 23:34adults that were required in order to take care of kids.
- 23:39A lot of people, they're now like that.
- 23:41There's some people who think it's a good idea to go out to a
- 23:44party with their friends, even if they're adults, drink their
- 23:48ass off, and then come home vomiting and falling all over
- 23:51the place in front of their own children.
- 23:53And of course some assholes get addicted and then they start
- 23:57becoming a problem for their spouses and their kids.
- 24:00Drugs, alcohol, all that kind of shit.
- 24:03My kids never had to worry about that.
- 24:05I've always had a clear, stable mind.
- 24:08The only thing my kids have ever had to deal with, whenever it
- 24:11comes to me that was negative was having to deal with my
- 24:14health issues. As I've gotten older, I've had a
- 24:17lot of problems and all that, and that's something they've had
- 24:22to experience and deal with. And also, my daughter has had
- 24:26some health issues in the past that involved a lot of doctor
- 24:30stuff. But besides that, we made sure
- 24:32she made it to her appointments, made sure she got her medicine,
- 24:36yadda yadda yadda. And it is what it is.
- 24:43I think a lot of parents who do want their kids to be
- 24:47successful, they don't want their kids to be successful in
- 24:52the way where a kid is successful based upon their own
- 24:56accomplishments or what they desire to do.
- 24:58Have you noticed that some parents, they only think their
- 25:02kid can be successful is that their kid does exactly the kind
- 25:06of same shit they do or inherit their career or job that they
- 25:10have. Our parents hate it whenever
- 25:13they hear that their kid did something good that has nothing
- 25:16to do with what they're capable of or what they know how to do.
- 25:21A lot of parents don't understand that if the kid says
- 25:24I really enjoy doing a job that you would have never done, you
- 25:28should still tell them I'm proud of you.
- 25:31I think that's great. I'm glad that you found
- 25:33something that makes you happy. I'm glad that you found
- 25:36something that gets you paid so you can pay your bills and do
- 25:39your stuff. Unless your kid is getting into
- 25:43something that is dangerous to them or, you know, being a porn
- 25:48star or something. Really, anything they do,
- 25:52whether it's computers, design, or working in a factory or even
- 25:57a restaurant, you should tell them I'm proud of you.
- 26:01You're proud of them because there's a lot of kids out there
- 26:05that don't even know the first fucking thing about what they're
- 26:07going to do or what they can do with their life.
- 26:10If your kids start getting jobs and doing things, which I've
- 26:13seen my son and then daughter do, and they're making their own
- 26:16money and they're making the world, one of the things I'm
- 26:19most appreciative of being a father is, is that I know that
- 26:24if I died tomorrow, my kids would be able to take care of
- 26:28themselves. That's awesome.
- 26:31I can't tell you how much anxiety I had when I first
- 26:33brought my son in the world. I was like, what is my kids
- 26:37going to do? How long do I need to exist or
- 26:40be alive until they realize what they got to do?
- 26:44How old will they be by that time?
- 26:46And I that's a realistic fear ladies and gentlemen, because
- 26:50I've seen so many fucking people out there.
- 26:53I've seen things on the news where some kids never grow up
- 26:57and they stay in their parents house till they're like fucking
- 27:0040 years old and don't do anything for themselves.
- 27:06And that's terrible. My son, by the time he was 22
- 27:10years old, said actually at about between 18 and 20, he
- 27:16decided he wanted to move into his own home.
- 27:21He said I'm ready to drive. I'm ready to have my own home.
- 27:24And he did it. He got it going.
- 27:27We helped him out a bit. We made sure that he got some
- 27:31good deals and some stuff and he did well for himself.
- 27:36And my daughter's doing great. She's still living with us and
- 27:38all that, But she had a she's had a bit more of a difficult
- 27:43time because of her health issues and all that.
- 27:46So it's going to be a little bit of time before she goes out of
- 27:49the house. But she's already got her a good
- 27:51job. She started doing good things.
- 27:56People have to realize when you're raising kids, it's not
- 28:00like some kind of a job performance rating.
- 28:04It's not about just how well you can perform because some people
- 28:08don't have a whole lot of tools, some people don't have a lot of
- 28:12money, some people don't have a lot of resources.
- 28:15But the kids are not going to think about that kind of shit.
- 28:19Maybe when they get older they'll be aware of, hey, we
- 28:23don't have what these people have, but you need to teach them
- 28:27not to covenant other people's stuff in the 1st place.
- 28:30Don't idolize others. Just be yourself and do the best
- 28:34you can in life, the thing you're going to be graded on as
- 28:38a parent does. Did you love them?
- 28:41Did you care about them? Were you there for them when
- 28:44they needed you? When they needed someone to
- 28:46listen to, When they needed someone to hold them and when
- 28:50they needed to be hugged when their heart was broken?
- 28:54These are the kind of things you're going to be graded on as
- 28:57a parent from your own children. Doesn't fucking matter what
- 29:00other people think. Doesn't matter what some
- 29:02stranger outside of your home thinks.
- 29:05Did you love your kid? Did you love your child?
- 29:09That is the only thing that fucking matters.
- 29:13It's not about how rich you are or how successful you are at
- 29:16your job or your career. Whenever it comes to parenting,
- 29:22it comes to Were you there? Can your kid?
- 29:27Once you have left this world, can your kid honestly and
- 29:31sincerely look another person in the eye and say My father was
- 29:35good to me, He loved me. He seen me as being the most
- 29:41important thing in his life. And that's how you got to look
- 29:45at your children. You got to look at them as God's
- 29:48gift to you, God's blessing to you that they originally came
- 29:54from God. They are not yours.
- 29:56They are not your property. But they are sentient human
- 30:01beings that God put in your life to love and care about and
- 30:05experience joy with. And that's how you become a good
- 30:11father or mother. Cherish the little things, don't
- 30:17cause your little ones to stumble.
- 30:20Love them, care for them. But to be honest with you, the
- 30:24most important thing that a lot of adults need to learn how to
- 30:27do, You need to grow up, and you need to learn how to love
- 30:31yourself. Because I've always said this,
- 30:35if you don't learn how to love yourself and care about yourself
- 30:39and your needs, then you have no business trying to love somebody
- 30:45else. Because if you don't even know
- 30:47how to love yourself or take care of yourself, then you're
- 30:49not going to know how to love somebody else, right?
- 30:53And all of your insecurities will subconsciously or
- 30:57unconsciously, continue to be pushed down on the other person
- 31:01you're with, whether they're your child or your spouse.
- 31:05Love and accept yourself for who you are.
- 31:08And once you do that, you have room in your life and the skills
- 31:12and the learning and the education to be able to love
- 31:15someone else and take care of someone else.
- 31:20Yes, our kids are a part of us. They are genetically a part of
- 31:25us. But they are God's gift to us.
- 31:28Don't look at them like a slave or some kind of property or a
- 31:32carbon copy of yourself. Do not imagine or fantasize or
- 31:36visualize in your head that they have to do everything you do or
- 31:41commit to everything you've committed to in order to be
- 31:44considered good. Besides, a lot of parents
- 31:48nowadays, they forget that they used to be kids too.
- 31:52They forget that they have made a lot of mistakes before they
- 31:55became the person they are now. And when people forget that, and
- 32:01you raise your kids and expect your kid to ultimately be
- 32:04perfect like you perceive yourself to be, well, you're
- 32:08going to have a lot of problems with that.
- 32:11To be an adult, to be a man or a woman, you have to have a lot of
- 32:15experiences. Making mistakes is just as
- 32:18important as accomplishing things.
- 32:21Making mistakes gives you the opportunity to be able to learn
- 32:25and make better decisions and be able to accept the opportunities
- 32:29when they come. So yeah, and that's the deal.
- 32:36I hope that with all my description and explanation of
- 32:40myself as well as my wife and how we raised our kids, this
- 32:45will give people an idea on how not to do bad parenting and how
- 32:49to be good. Not just good parents, but good
- 32:52people. Good people tend to make good
- 32:57kids. That's the way it is if you're a
- 33:01bad person. Or and because there are some
- 33:05bad people out there who actually think in their head
- 33:08that they're actually good when they're not.
- 33:11And then they wonder why it is their kids end up totally fucked
- 33:15or stupid. Well, that's the reason.
