- 1:16Nice, nice and succinct. I liked it.
- 1:19Good words, thanks. You would have never used that.
- 1:22Word. Yeah, we don't need him.
- 1:26Alright, so I'll start with my ad.
- 1:27I feel like I've mentioned him a ton this week in my in like
- 1:31every episode we've mentioned I've mentioned him because Josh
- 1:34Norris is my ad for the week. He is just so solid.
- 1:36He's got very solid proofs all season with .65 Pimms, two
- 1:40shots, 7.4 faceoff wins and 2.6 hits such as really good cat
- 1:44coverage. And then his points in power
- 1:45plays were really good at the start of the season and they've
- 1:48been awful the past month, corresponding with the demotion
- 1:50to the third line. But he was recently moved back
- 1:53to line one with Ketchup and Batherson and asked three points
- 1:55in his past three games. So grab him before someone else
- 1:58does. This is really a really good
- 2:00pickup. Yep, I like everything you said.
- 2:02I mean, listen, Josh Norris is banger league like Hall of Fame
- 2:06at this point. I feel like yeah, we've talked
- 2:08about him so much. He has such good deployment now.
- 2:11CAD coverage is there as a pure C, you don't really have a lot
- 2:14of guys that do that. So he's always worth picking up,
- 2:17I think. And right now is the time to do
- 2:18it. Any kind of deep leak, you
- 2:20should absolutely be on your roster even in shallow leagues
- 2:23right now. Like he's definitely more roster
- 2:25worthy than a lot of your guys that are way higher percent
- 2:26owned. So Yep, my ad is Logan Cooley of
- 2:34the Utah OHE said Utah Hockey club.
- 2:37But. It's not the Utah.
- 2:39He's 47% owned and why he is my ad is because in every two
- 2:43leagues he's on waivers and as a Logan Cooley owner in one of my
- 2:48leagues, I've tried shopping him because he's been really hot.
- 2:51But people are just like don't buy the hype for some reason.
- 2:54They don't want to give you any kind of value for him.
- 2:56So if that's the case, I'm going to say just add him, keep on
- 2:58your roster and enjoy Hot Rod because he just got better
- 3:02deployment. With Gunter being out, they kind
- 3:04of consulted on that Line 1 and that P1.
- 3:07So he's playing there. Last two games he's played 23
- 3:09minutes, 24 minutes, almost 25 minutes.
- 3:12So he's definitely getting ice time.
- 3:13Right now he's playing with Clayton Keller and Nick
- 3:15Schmaltz. He's getting as best deployment
- 3:18as he can get. He's the 1C for this Utah team.
- 3:20And I think Skye Limit, like he was a highly touted prospect.
- 3:23The power play is really good. I think you could do worse.
- 3:26And if he's available in over 50% of leagues, like that's the
- 3:29time to get. Him yeah, this is a a no
- 3:31brainer. I mean, I think he should be
- 3:33owned in most leagues at this point has been putting up unreal
- 3:36numbers for consistent amount of time even before this guenther
- 3:41injury and getting moved to the top line.
- 3:42So now he's only going to get better with that deployment and
- 3:45he's the line one power play, one centre on a team.
- 3:48He was a third overall pick like 2 years like 3 years ago.
- 3:52And and so it's not a surprise that he's breaking out and
- 3:54having a great season. And I don't expect him to coolly
- 3:57off anytime soon. Whoa.
- 3:59You just have it all up, so you could say that.
- 4:00Didn't you? I just thought of it, I mean.
- 4:03There's a lot of guys that are rostered like more than he is
- 4:06that I'd rather have. Cool.
- 4:07Yeah, he he's been better than Stamkos lately.
- 4:10Yeah, I mean, Stamkos is a whole other story.
- 4:12He's never gonna drop too much in roster percentage, even if
- 4:15he's not playing great. Yeah, but but yeah, no.
- 4:17Definitely or Dylan Strome rest of season.
- 4:20'S so bad, but he started off so.
- 4:22Hot 82%. Yeah, I mean, Trump had an
- 4:25unreal start to the season though, but he did just get
- 4:27bumped off line 1 so it could be cooling.
- 4:29I wouldn't be surprised. I would take cool.
- 4:32Yeah alright, let's get to to Jake's ad.
- 4:35He mentions William Eckland, another guy that we mentioned in
- 4:38our streamers episode. Yeah, he is super hot lately.
- 4:42All factors lead to this being a breakout campaign for Eckland.
- 4:45His minutes have been consistently awesome all year.
- 4:48He was previously picked 7th overall by the Sharks and is now
- 4:50playing with Celebrity, who is an incredible offensive force at
- 4:53.83 points per game on the season.
- 4:55The only reason he's not rostered in many more leagues
- 4:57he's currently at 18% is because his peripherals are
- 5:00inconsistent. However, if he can average 2
- 5:02plus shots on goal per game and keep up this points per game
- 5:06plus pace, this seems which seems totally reasonable.
- 5:08His roster percentage should shoot up relatively quickly and
- 5:10you don't want to miss the boat. So yeah, this is a great pickup.
- 5:14Yep, I mean, I think what you have to pay attention because he
- 5:17the deployment was a really big factor.
- 5:19Like Jake has mentioned previously, the shots weren't
- 5:21there before. Now that they're there, he's
- 5:23kind of has some peripherals to back up his production because
- 5:27he's used, he was on trial for being like, you know .8 points
- 5:29per game guy with like zeros across the board.
- 5:31Besides that, now he's away easier hold and I think with the
- 5:33deployment plan celebrity like he, he could realistically be a
- 5:38rest of season hold that should be like, you know, 60 to 70% in
- 5:41your fantasy leagues and provide some really good value for you.
- 5:43So now's the time to get in while he's still a majorly
- 5:46available. Yep.
- 5:47All right, moving on to our holds.
- 5:49So my hold for this week is Sam Bennett.
- 5:52His points have been awful the past month with only .15 points
- 5:56per game, but his peripherals are still great with one PIM,
- 6:002.5 shots, 7.3 faceoff wins, and two hits.
- 6:03So let's just get things straight.
- 6:05He's not going to go back to the crazy hot start out at the
- 6:07beginning of the season. I don't if you remember that,
- 6:09but he started off really nuts point wise.
- 6:11But he should definitely bounce back to above .5 points per
- 6:14game. And when you combine that with
- 6:15his, perhaps he's a guy you're super happy to have on your team
- 6:17in a bangers league. So don't do anything crazy and
- 6:21try and drop him in a bangers league because of how awful his
- 6:24points have been lately. They will come back and you'll
- 6:26be happy that you held on to. Him, it's tough, right, because
- 6:28like whenever you have any type of player on your fantasy team,
- 6:31if you're getting zero points for any consistent amount of
- 6:33time, like that's it's hard to own, yeah, because you're like
- 6:35this guy is providing 0 value. Obviously, he's still being
- 6:38consistent with his shots and his hits.
- 6:40And if you play with Pimms and face off wins, those are always
- 6:43great. He's aligned 2 and Matthew
- 6:45Patrick was one of the best players in the league, right?
- 6:46Yeah, I feel like that Line 2 has kind of been a little bit
- 6:48colder at times, which isn't magical truck ceiling, first of
- 6:52all. But Bennett, he's just always
- 6:55reliable to be that like, you know, that gritty centre who's
- 6:58gonna continue to contribute in the banger categories and also
- 7:01give you points. I think now's the time to just
- 7:03hold and see how it goes. It's really hard to drop a
- 7:06player that has his level of deployment.
- 7:08So don't hold that. Don't, don't drop.
- 7:11Please hold. And the points are yet to come.
- 7:14Yeah. All right.
- 7:16My hold is honestly, this was tough.
- 7:19But it is Brock Besser of the Vancouver Canucks.
- 7:23I mean, listen, the Vancouver Canucks, I don't know if I could
- 7:27say or a S show, you know what I mean?
- 7:29Yeah, that word, I don't want to say it, but it's yeah, it's a
- 7:33mess. Thank you, Josh.
- 7:35Right now he's playing with Peterson and the brusque.
- 7:37And so you're saying, OK, the peripheral peripherals, the
- 7:40deployment is really good. Let's peripherals have been so
- 7:42bad. He's getting no points.
- 7:43He's not even shooting. And that's like the only thing
- 7:45that is known for it, right? Yeah, we're seeing his usual
- 7:48linen. JT Miller not even play on PP1,
- 7:50not really get much ice time. So right now something's
- 7:53happening. Something's happening in
- 7:54Vancouver and it's not good, but I think when Vancouver starts
- 7:57ticking, it'll be when the not the breast with Besser, when
- 8:01Besser starts turning up, like their success will be correlated
- 8:04together. And maybe it takes AJ Miller
- 8:06trade for that to happen. Who knows?
- 8:08Maybe they change the lines up, who knows, but when better
- 8:11starts ticking is when Vancouver gonna start seeing success, and
- 8:14I think that was the time. Hold him, don't drop him.
- 8:16He has too big of a name that you can drop.
- 8:18If you can sell him, I'd consider that, but I just want
- 8:21to really give some confidence to Besser owners who are really
- 8:25frustrated that they're not really getting anything out of
- 8:27him right now. I would say unless there's a
- 8:30really good option on your waivers, I would not consider
- 8:32dropping them. Yeah, I fully agree he's too
- 8:35good to drop. And yeah, he's been pretty
- 8:37brutal lately, but it's like you said, just the entire Canucks
- 8:39team is a mess. I mean, Patterson was was your
- 8:42buy low for the week? Yeah, so like.
- 8:44Gonna turn around. I I think we.
- 8:46Scored two like. Yeah, and he's never gonna lose
- 8:48his deployment. He's always gonna be line one or
- 8:51two in power play one and he's gonna be their go to guy for
- 8:54scoring. So he's a really good hold.
- 8:56Yeah, don't get too frustrated and do anything rash that you'll
- 8:59regret for the rest of the season.
- 9:02And I mean, if only Jackie had we've already had a hole that I
- 9:07really that I really liked. Jake's old is Matt Michkov of
- 9:14the Philadelphia Flyers, So this is what Jackie has written down
- 9:17for him. So Mitkov was Jakies week 13 by
- 9:21low and since then his shots on goal per game have gone way up,
- 9:26but the points are still lagged with all rookies being
- 9:29inconsistent. This is going to be a thing
- 9:31we're going to expect from Michkov, but we know he can also
- 9:33be a star in the League One day. If not this year, I'd expect his
- 9:38shots on goal to positively regress a lot as it's more
- 9:42comfortable playing in the NHL in a shallow points league or
- 9:45Jake's in a shallow points league where he holds.
- 9:47Michael has been rough holding him at times throughout the
- 9:49year, but when he gets on a hot streak is very nice to own him
- 9:51and he doesn't think that should be dropped by any means.
- 9:54The Tortorella volatility is obviously something that you
- 9:56keep in mind with rookies specifically, but he's averaging
- 10:00over three shots on goal game and 0.3 power play points a game
- 10:04over the last week. He clearly has a lot of
- 10:07offensive potential on the Flyers that Satina needs that
- 10:12and he's arguably their best weapon.
- 10:13So if they want to make a push for the playoffs, it's gonna be
- 10:16on. Mitch comes back, but it's it's
- 10:18hard to it's hard to drop a guy that has that kind of like
- 10:22talismanic, you know, effect for his team, right?
- 10:25Yeah, I fully agree. I don't think, I don't think you
- 10:28could drop him. I think that's one of those guys
- 10:31who since he's a rookie, is gonna be very streaky and you
- 10:34kind of just hope that his hot streak corresponds with your
- 10:36fantasy playoffs because we've seen him this season even be
- 10:40just electric and unreal. But The thing is that all these
- 10:43rookies, they come into this 82 game season playing against like
- 10:46big NHL ers, they're not used to it.
- 10:48Some guys like Mitch have even came from like, you know,
- 10:50Russia. So it's not necessarily used to
- 10:52North American hockey either. And so it's a bit of an
- 10:55adjustment for sure. But when you're an elite talent
- 10:57like that, you find ways to score and get points.
- 11:00And even if Tortorella is gonna mess around with his deployment
- 11:04and stuff, at the end of the day, Michkov is the future of
- 11:07that team. And so other than really connect
- 11:09me, he's the guy to own on Philly.
- 11:11My advice is you hold them. You can never drop him.
- 11:14You hold them and then as soon as he starts turning it up with
- 11:16points and stuff you try to sell them.
- 11:18Yeah, I agree. My advice alright, and then my
- 11:21drop for the week is Matthias Ekholm.
- 11:24I always look at I love doing these drops.
- 11:26It's my favorite part of this episode because I just wanna
- 11:29yell at the screen when I see some of these guys being roster
- 11:31to this highly because it just makes no sense.
- 11:33Of these guys are rostered because in plus minus leagues
- 11:36are actually like. That's fair.
- 11:37That is the one thing that Yahoo.
- 11:39Default leagues have plus minus a lot of leaks out there.
- 11:41Still play with us. That's fair.
- 11:42OK, so my first one because. It's the worst I was.
- 11:44Gonna say my first PSA is stop playing with plus minus because
- 11:47that's a joke of a category but once you know so ignoring plus
- 11:51minus because you shouldn't be playing with that.
- 11:53Ecom has .42 points per game, 2.3 shots and .7 hits and 1.4
- 11:58blocks on the season. So he's not good at points, he's
- 12:01not good at peripherals, he's never going to get a shot at
- 12:03power play 1. I don't know why he's 79% owned
- 12:06that's. Wild 79.
- 12:07Percent, I know. That's just crazy.
- 12:08Like we were talking about Cooley as an ad, right?
- 12:11Cooley's 47% owned and at home 79% owned.
- 12:15With the defenders. That's always the defenseman I
- 12:17find are like the ones who are like crazy high owned.
- 12:19And this is just another great sample of a guy who's great in
- 12:21real life but terrible for fantasy.
- 12:23So drop him, you know, drop him, clear up your response and
- 12:27decide do you want that roster spot to be a defenseman who will
- 12:30get you points? Then you could stream some guys
- 12:32who are on hot streaks. Do you want it to be someone who
- 12:34will actually get you peripherals?
- 12:35Get one of those 5% owned guys who bangs like crazy, you know,
- 12:38but like these middle of the pack guys who get you a little
- 12:40bit of points and a little bit of perhaps, but knock it at
- 12:42anything. They're just not worth holding
- 12:43on your roster. Drop at home, pick up a Jackson
- 12:46Lacombe who's on, yeah, one on on Anaheim, and that's going to
- 12:49give you that power play exposure.
- 12:50You're not really getting much on the peripherals anyway, so
- 12:53might as well get some power. That's it exactly.
- 12:56Yep. My drop is I'm going a little
- 12:59bit lower in the roster percentage this time around, but
- 13:01it is Brady Shay of the National Predators.
- 13:04He's 40% owned but realistically I don't know why anybody is
- 13:08holding him because he has. He averages 0.3 points per game.
- 13:13Wow with no power play and 1.6 shots.
- 13:18Basically zero hits and maybe a block.
- 13:20That's truly so. It's just out of your defensemen
- 13:23spot if you're in a really deep leagues Even then I would just
- 13:26rather pick up anybody that's like 5 to 10% owned that has
- 13:30good peripherals that you can stream on a four-game week.
- 13:32And I think that's gonna be more valuable than holding British on
- 13:34your roster because you're not holding him for the points.
- 13:36He's going to use your power play exposure.
- 13:38He has a couple of points on the season because when you'll see
- 13:40was out and he got some ice time there, but he's not shooting.
- 13:44You're not getting any hits from him really one blocking game.
- 13:47There's so many more defensemen that will get you more hits and
- 13:49blocks and shots combined than Brady Shay.
- 13:52And yet he's still 40% owned. He's one of those guys that he
- 13:55was on Carolina last year, really good IRL defensemen, not
- 13:58as good fantasy defensemen. And there's a lot of guys like
- 14:01that and you just have to separate the name value with the
- 14:03actual defensive capabilities and their fantasy value.
- 14:06And he's like one of those guys that I really attribute that to.
- 14:09And yeah I would say pop up pick up, use that spot to stream
- 14:14schedule wise, get 5 or 6 games out of his roster spot and
- 14:17you'll be way better off. Yeah, fully agree.
- 14:21This is someone who pretty much puts zeros across the board
- 14:23consistently. I have no idea why he's even
- 14:25rostered at all. You look at Nashville and
- 14:28General who's been super underwhelming this year.
- 14:30Even Yoshi's been pretty bad lately, you know?
- 14:32And so if a guy like Yoshi is not doing well in a team, you're
- 14:36not expecting like Brady Shay to really be picking up the slack,
- 14:38and he's not. So feel free to drop him and
- 14:41clear up that roster. Spot there's so many games that
- 14:42is just like zeros with one shot, zero with one shot, zero
- 14:45with two shots like that's not that's not helping you and you
- 14:47were. Saying how like hypothesis on
- 14:50why some of these guys are so highly owned plus minus but now
- 14:53feels like bottom of the league standings.
- 14:54So I don't know what this guy is bringing to anyones fantasy
- 14:56roster, but just dump him and pick up someone more valuable.
- 15:00Yep, and there you have it. All right, so that wraps up our
- 15:03add hold drop. Thanks for joining us.
