- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, Well, Chris is decked out read I gave
- 0:04Speaker 1: her props in the pregame show filling in for Gino.
- 0:06Speaker 1: I guess we start with defense again because the first
- 0:09Speaker 1: three quarters Boys defense was really good again tonight.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Yeah. I think coming into it, we knew that they
- 0:17Speaker 2: didn't handle our pressure well last year, so we came
- 0:21Speaker 2: in with the same aggressive mindset, and I thought we
- 0:25Speaker 2: turned them over. We did a really good job. They
- 0:27Speaker 2: made some adjustments. We were switching and they started rolling
- 0:30Speaker 2: instead of popping out, and we had to make some adjustments,
- 0:34Speaker 2: and I thought we did a pretty good job with
- 0:35Speaker 2: that job. What greed would you give your team on
- 0:37Speaker 2: the whole game, because it seems a lot of fastest
- 0:39Speaker 2: they did pretty darn good. Well, you know, I thought
- 0:45Speaker 2: the first half we turned the ball over too many times,
- 0:49Speaker 2: and they weren't forced turnovers, they were kind of mistakes
- 0:53Speaker 2: on our ends. So that was disappointing. We were only
- 0:56Speaker 2: averaging twelve for an entire game, and we had eleven
- 0:58Speaker 2: at halftime. We cleaned that up and had five in
- 1:02Speaker 2: the second half. Most of those came I think in.
- 1:04Speaker 1: The fourth quarter.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I think, you know, you never want to make a
- 1:09Speaker 2: win a loss I think our kids worked too hard
- 1:11Speaker 2: to come out in the fourth quarter and not get
- 1:13Speaker 2: things done. And I didn't think we got as much
- 1:15Speaker 2: done in the fourth quarter with different groups as we
- 1:18Speaker 2: could have and as we've shown in practice. So that's
- 1:23Speaker 2: just something I think we have to work on, you know.
- 1:25Speaker 2: But certainly, overall, we did a lot of great things.
- 1:28Speaker 2: We passed the ball well, so you know, looking at
- 1:32Speaker 2: it from the positive Standwoay, there are things that I
- 1:36Speaker 2: thought we did well, and then there's certainly things that
- 1:38Speaker 2: we needed to clean up.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Weeah ten straight games now of at least twenty assists
- 1:43Speaker 1: in a game. Kaylee heckled the way with six. You
- 1:45Speaker 1: look at Sarah Strunk's numbers and you say, wow, she
- 1:48Speaker 1: made her last nine shots after a slow start, seven
- 1:51Speaker 1: rebounds to assist, two steals, two blocks. But you mentioned
- 1:55Speaker 1: the turnovers. It seems like she's trying a few things. Yes,
- 1:59Speaker 1: she was a little slow in the first half, no question,
- 2:02Speaker 1: but it seems like she's working on that bounce pass
- 2:05Speaker 1: that Gabby Williams used to be so good at. Just
- 2:07Speaker 1: hasn't quite mastered that yet. But she does a lot
- 2:09Speaker 1: of things well.
- 2:10Speaker 2: I don't know if i'd agree with that. I don't
- 2:13Speaker 2: think it was the bounce pass. I think she was
- 2:15Speaker 2: trying to make some plays that weren't necessarily there. She
- 2:18Speaker 2: was trying to make some plays for her teammates. But
- 2:21Speaker 2: I mean, I don't think there's a better passer than
- 2:23Speaker 2: Sarah Strong. It was uncharacteristic, I think, But I think
- 2:29Speaker 2: they were plays that she was trying to make something
- 2:31Speaker 2: happen that may either wasn't there exactly at that moment,
- 2:36Speaker 2: or could have been there but the other person might
- 2:39Speaker 2: not have been ready for it at that point. I'd
- 2:41Speaker 2: have to watch the film again. But I just I'm
- 2:44Speaker 2: always surprised because generally, if Sarah makes one mistake like that,
- 2:49Speaker 2: she doesn't make a bunch of them. And today they're
- 2:51Speaker 2: just seemed like it happened in a bunch in the
- 2:54Speaker 2: first half, but then not in the second half, because
- 2:57Speaker 2: she's usually a perfection. She is a perfection. So again,
- 3:01Speaker 2: I just thought it was uncharacteristic for her. How Bell, Caroline,
- 3:06Speaker 2: we saw our running off? She al right, it was
- 3:08Speaker 2: it sickness or what was that?
- 3:10Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 3:10Speaker 2: No, Caroline's fine, She's fine.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Okat Okay, Hey, Sarah Williams gave you a pretty good effort.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Tonight in seventeen minutes, eleven points, six rebounds, a couple
- 3:19Speaker 1: of early misses, but it seems like you're always making
- 3:22Speaker 1: a concerted effort. I don't know if it's the planner,
- 3:25Speaker 1: it just works out that way, but she always seems
- 3:28Speaker 1: involved very early in the game. From a scoring aspect.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know that i'd say it was a
- 3:34Speaker 2: concerted effort to get that done. I think it was opportunity.
- 3:38Speaker 2: We've got a lot of guys that can if they
- 3:40Speaker 2: have matchups that go in their favor, but as a whole,
- 3:45Speaker 2: our post players can't miss as many layups as they do,
- 3:48Speaker 2: and that's you know, unfortunately it's Sarah Williams, it's Jenna.
- 3:52Speaker 2: We just can't because those are in our mind. That's
- 3:55Speaker 2: that's like a turnover because you're you know, you're not
- 3:59Speaker 2: getting a two when you're giving them an opportunity to
- 4:01Speaker 2: go down the other end and get more and usually
- 4:03Speaker 2: they score. So we just really have to clean that up.
- 4:06Speaker 2: That's one of those things we work on it every day.
- 4:08Speaker 2: We just have to really take advantage because we're working
- 4:10Speaker 2: really hard. Jana had set six offensive rebounds, so we're
- 4:13Speaker 2: working hard. It's not a question of work ethic or effort.
- 4:18Speaker 2: It's more just getting it done when when the timing
- 4:20Speaker 2: is there, and when you know you're in that moment
- 4:22Speaker 2: in this game, you need to be able to get
- 4:25Speaker 2: that done, make those layups.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Yeah, a few quick thoughts. On Saturday, the Hawk guys
- 4:30Speaker 1: are next in Brooklyn.
- 4:32Speaker 2: You know, you know these are this game and that
- 4:36Speaker 2: and the game on Saturday are the two most dangerous
- 4:38Speaker 2: games for us because they're the two right before Christmas break.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Fortunately we're playing you know, I think Marquette's a good
- 4:44Speaker 2: team in our league, and then certainly Iowa is a
- 4:47Speaker 2: quality opponent that we really need to be able to
- 4:50Speaker 2: focus on and be focused in order to have a
- 4:52Speaker 2: chance to beat them. They're aggressive. They you know, they've
- 4:55Speaker 2: got the kids. I've never pronounced her name right, but Stulky.
- 4:58Speaker 2: She played well against us two years ago and she's
- 5:01Speaker 2: a junior a senior now. And their side, they play hard,
- 5:04Speaker 2: they play emotional. They put a lot of points on
- 5:08Speaker 2: the board. So we're gonna have our hands fall. We've
- 5:09Speaker 2: got uh some time to rest up a little bit,
- 5:13Speaker 2: pack up, get down to Brooklyn, and and then really
- 5:16Speaker 2: get down to business.
- 5:18Speaker 1: And it's early too, so yeah, that's the best part.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Absolutely no argument there, Chris. Thank you as always, we'll
- 5:24Speaker 1: see you Saturday.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Thank you.
