- 1:12Speaker 2: specifically in the Apple Podcast system. If you are an
- 1:15Speaker 2: iPhone user, we love a five star review, and if
- 1:18Speaker 2: you want to take it one step further, share us
- 1:20Speaker 2: with your friends. I recently saw listener Holly post on
- 1:26Speaker 2: Facebook about her time at Bramblefest, a podcast event that
- 1:31Speaker 2: you and I attended, and people were like, there are
- 1:34Speaker 2: Hallmark podcasts, and so you know what I know.
- 1:39Speaker 1: So tell a friend. I'm shocked to hear that I know. Like,
- 1:44Speaker 1: we're not that niche. Apparently we are. We're more a
- 1:47Speaker 1: niche than we thought. So don't assume you don't know
- 1:51Speaker 1: what people don't know. Wow. Interesting to our regular listeners.
- 1:55Speaker 1: The mailbag is open as well if we hadn't. We
- 1:59Speaker 1: are planning an episode for later in August. Yes, we
- 2:03Speaker 1: your emails. Yeah yeah, so keep keep sending them if
- 2:08Speaker 1: you have thoughts on Providence Falls or anything that you
- 2:12Speaker 1: see coming down the Is it pipeline? I don't know
- 2:16Speaker 1: if it's pipe or pike, you know. The other day
- 2:19Speaker 1: I had to google is it deep seated or deep seated,
- 2:24Speaker 1: because I could make an argument for both. Regardless, it's
- 2:28Speaker 1: not irregardless, it's just regardless.
- 2:31Speaker 2: The correct idiom is coming down the pike. It means
- 2:34Speaker 2: something is approaching or expected in the near future.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but isn't isn't it similar for pipeline too.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Like, yes, it is similar, but the actual idiom is
- 2:48Speaker 2: coming down the pike.
- 2:49Speaker 1: All right, back on track, Hey, send us your emails,
- 2:52Speaker 1: girls Gone Hallmark at gmail dot com. Let's hear a
- 2:56Speaker 1: synopsis for Chance of a Lifetime. Newbie police detective Cora

- 3:18Speaker 1: Along with directing all three Providence Falls. She has a

- 3:25Speaker 1: Lazy J Mayley, which could likely be for Homemark. The

- 3:52Speaker 1: series Faking It. This is her first Hallmark project. Tell
- 3:56Speaker 1: me why, Because she's such a great actress You're you're
- 4:00Speaker 1: floored by she only has fifteen acting credits exactly, Well,
- 4:04Speaker 1: I think she has long stints. So The Bold type obviously,
- 4:07Speaker 1: and that MTV series Faking It was like thirty plus
- 4:11Speaker 1: episodes as well. Yeah Lachlan Quarmby plays Liam. Lachlan has
- 4:16Speaker 1: eighteen acting credits with projects like This Series, Allegiance, and

- 4:40Speaker 1: A Tale of Two Christmases. Felicia Simone plays chorus friend Susette.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Felicia has twenty nine acting credits, with roles in The
- 4:48Speaker 1: Handmaid's Tale and Shmagadoon. She played the character named Jones
- 4:54Speaker 1: in both of the three Wiseman movies.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Amatai Marmesteine plays angel Agon. Amatia is best known for
- 5:01Speaker 2: roles in Wayward Pines, Tracker, and Family Law. He has

- 5:27Speaker 1: Maddie will Always be Allen to Us. From Date My Dad,
- 5:30Speaker 1: The one Season Wonder from UpTV.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Paul mcgillian plays Coora's dad, James McLoud. Paul's another busy
- 5:38Speaker 2: actor with one hundred and thirty acting credits. He's appeared
- 5:40Speaker 2: in Hallmark movies like Last Year's Falling Together, Christmas in Tahoe,
- 5:44Speaker 2: and An Unexpected Christmas. Jessica Sipos plays Meredith Brady. You
- 5:50Speaker 2: might recognize Jessica from her recent role as Ava in
- 5:53Speaker 2: Love on The Danube Royal Getaway. She's also appeared in
- 5:57Speaker 2: Betty's Bad Luck and Love, A Season for Femily, as
- 6:00Speaker 2: well as a recurring role as Sarah Mercer on Chesapeake Shores.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Keegan Connor Tracy plays Angel Samel. She has over eighty
- 6:08Speaker 1: acting credits, including the sitcom Blockbuster and thirty six episodes
- 6:12Speaker 1: of Once Upon a time as the Blue Fairy. That's
- 6:14Speaker 1: where I recognized her from Mother Superior and Zelena. Did
- 6:20Speaker 1: she play like three characters? No on that show, not Selena,
- 6:25Speaker 1: That's what IMDb said.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Hallmark fans may also recognize her from Morning Show Mysteries
- 6:31Speaker 2: and Garage Sale Mystery.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Glenn Gordon plays Trouble Team Dominic. He has appeared in
- 6:37Speaker 1: a ton of Hallmark projects, including Dream Mom's Unexpected Grace,
- 6:41Speaker 1: Open by Christmas, and Sweet Carolina, to name a few.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Let's take a quick break and we're gonna come right
- 6:47Speaker 1: back with our first impressions of Chance of a Lifetime. Hey, Wendy,
- 6:58Speaker 1: what's your first impression? Chance of a Lifetime? Hey O,
- 7:02Speaker 1: Hallmark is brewing up a new trope. It's the sensitive
- 7:05Speaker 1: tea Guy. And I would just like to point out,
- 7:09Speaker 1: if you recall when we reviewed Pearl and Paradise earlier
- 7:12Speaker 1: this year, Christopher polahas character also a tea guy. Also
- 7:18Speaker 1: a tea guy. I'm a tea gal, so I noticed
- 7:21Speaker 1: these things. Makes me very happy. My first impression, I'm
- 7:25Speaker 1: calling it right now. This is going to be the
- 7:27Speaker 1: highlight of the year on Hallmark. Interesting. Well, let's get
- 7:33Speaker 1: into it, because I'm curious to see what you liked
- 7:35Speaker 1: about it. Well, I'm going to start off by telling
- 7:39Speaker 1: you that I did read the book.
- 7:41Speaker 2: I've only read the first one so far. I like
- 7:44Speaker 2: the movie so much better. I like the tone of
- 7:46Speaker 2: the movie better. The movie has more humor than the book,
- 7:49Speaker 2: especially among the angels. The angels are very classically angelic
- 7:54Speaker 2: in the book, like curly blonde ringlets appearing out.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Of the mist.
- 7:59Speaker 2: You know, they don't have this like nineteen eighties library
- 8:05Speaker 2: vibe to them.
- 8:06Speaker 1: I'm going to talk about that. I just like the tone.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I think it's funny.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Comparing the book to the movie. I don't not this
- 8:15Speaker 2: person usually, but the movie is better.
- 8:17Speaker 1: You're typically a book is better kind of goal. Sometimes
- 8:20Speaker 1: books have more of an opportunity to develop things. They
- 8:23Speaker 1: have less of a time constraint. You know, sure you
- 8:25Speaker 1: can get more into it. But in this case, movie
- 8:29Speaker 1: killed it nice.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Well.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I think the production is super elevated, don't you agree? Yes?
- 8:37Speaker 1: I think I like Hallmarks the way Hallmark is going
- 8:45Speaker 1: in terms of investing in next level storytelling. To me,
- 8:53Speaker 1: if you like the way the Way the Way Home looks,
- 8:57Speaker 1: or Miss is Toe Murders, you're gonna get that same
- 9:00Speaker 1: kind of polish here. This isn't your typical Hallmark movie.
- 9:06Speaker 2: I fully agree this movie could be lifted out of
- 9:09Speaker 2: Hallmark and would not be out of place on any
- 9:11Speaker 2: number of streamers in terms of production value. And my
- 9:16Speaker 2: notes say that Katie Stevens, she's like a ten out
- 9:19Speaker 2: of ten for me in this movie. I've always liked her.
- 9:23Speaker 2: We have we write hard for The Bold Type. I
- 9:25Speaker 2: love that series, but she's honestly better than that in
- 9:29Speaker 2: this and she was in The Bold Type. But I
- 9:32Speaker 2: also think like this is the best we've ever seen
- 9:35Speaker 2: from Evan Roderick too. Like I think everybody is like
- 9:38Speaker 2: operating at.
- 9:40Speaker 1: One hundred in this movie. I yeah, that's I wonder
- 9:45Speaker 1: I wonder why.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Well, I am going to go ahead and give credit
- 9:51Speaker 2: to the production company. We know that this is Juanna
- 9:55Speaker 2: Garcia Swisher's production company that created this movie, found the stories,
- 10:00Speaker 2: wanted to create it. I don't know if that's where
- 10:03Speaker 2: credit is due, but I'm going to start at the bottom.
- 10:05Speaker 2: I feel like that's the foundation of it. And like
- 10:10Speaker 2: you said, the production value is so sky high on this,
- 10:13Speaker 2: I just.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Think they did it right. I agree, it's so it's
- 10:20Speaker 1: so interesting to me that Hallmark is dropping these on
- 10:23Speaker 1: a Saturday night, just sprinkled in amongst your regular Hamewark
- 10:32Speaker 1: fair It feels like it should be more of an event,
- 10:36Speaker 1: and I wonder about.
- 10:37Speaker 2: The choice to drop it in August, like it or not.
- 10:41Speaker 2: August is not Hallmark's key time, so obviously they could
- 10:47Speaker 2: they do it during counden to Christmas. No, it doesn't
- 10:49Speaker 2: make sense. Last year, some of the best movies of
- 10:53Speaker 2: the year came out in August.
- 10:54Speaker 1: The Magic of Lemon Drops.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Was an August movie, so maybe there is a desire
- 10:59Speaker 2: for it. I don't know what Hallmark's viewership looks like
- 11:01Speaker 2: in August, but I I worry that this series is
- 11:06Speaker 2: going to be overlooked by certain viewers. And I'm here
- 11:10Speaker 2: to tell you I have not watched the next two movies,
- 11:12Speaker 2: but based on this movie alone, I don't think this
- 11:15Speaker 2: is when you should skip.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Oh No. In fact, there's been a little bit of
- 11:20Speaker 1: commentary out there about not being excited for this. Yeah,
- 11:25Speaker 1: you're wrong. Those people are the ray Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:29Speaker 2: I think I think there's I think there's some like
- 11:32Speaker 2: you see, the people are not excited for a period piece,
- 11:37Speaker 2: which I would not say this is a period piece,
- 11:39Speaker 2: right like, we get flashbacks to their time, but it
- 11:44Speaker 2: exists mostly in present day. And I would say, don't
- 11:47Speaker 2: let the I don't really love a period piece.
- 11:51Speaker 1: I don't really love like the rogue situation because that's
- 11:55Speaker 1: yet's typically you right like that, you would not be drawn,
- 11:58Speaker 1: I think if you saw the post because the poster,
- 12:01Speaker 1: especially the first one, if I'm not mistaken, the photo
- 12:06Speaker 1: of them is from the past. Well, I'm going to
- 12:11Speaker 1: talk about that in my wish ahead too. Oh, let
- 12:16Speaker 1: me tell you something else. I like.
- 12:17Speaker 2: I like that I'm torn about who to root for
- 12:20Speaker 2: when it comes to Liam or Finn. This is another
- 12:23Speaker 2: difference in the book. In the book, Finn is written
- 12:26Speaker 2: pretty bland, pretty square. He's a good guy, he has
- 12:30Speaker 2: a good heart. But the book is also told from
- 12:36Speaker 2: the perspective of Liam and Cora, and so he's kind
- 12:38Speaker 2: of a third party. And as viewers in the movie,
- 12:42Speaker 2: we're meeting them at the same time. We don't have
- 12:45Speaker 2: the history that Liam remembers, we don't have the history
- 12:48Speaker 2: that Cora is remembering in her dreams. We're meeting them
- 12:50Speaker 2: at the same time, so our relationship with them is
- 12:53Speaker 2: building at the same time, and they're doing a nice
- 12:57Speaker 2: job of making Finn someone to root for, even knowing
- 13:01Speaker 2: that Liam's like.
- 13:02Speaker 1: She's my destiny situation. Yeah, I think it works here.
- 13:07Speaker 1: We have our good girl, our good guy, and then
- 13:09Speaker 1: our our rooting bad boy he rogue.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Yes.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it's a love triangle that works for me.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Like I'm buying in on all three. I think there's
- 13:20Speaker 1: chemistry there, like Cora has chemistry with each guy. It's working,
- 13:29Speaker 1: It's working for me. I I agree with you. I
- 13:32Speaker 1: haven't gotten to the point yet where I'm like rooting
- 13:35Speaker 1: for one or the other, just because I don't know
- 13:37Speaker 1: enough about Finn or Liam yet. So I'm I'm excited
- 13:45Speaker 1: to see where it goes. Yeah, what else do you like?
- 13:50Speaker 1: I really enjoy that Cora she is a NEPO baby,
- 13:58Speaker 1: but I like that she is dealing with the weight
- 14:02Speaker 1: of her job, especially with her dad breathing down her neck.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Like it's an interesting angle. There's a lot of depth
- 14:08Speaker 1: and tension here. I like that she has this important job.
- 14:14Speaker 1: She's a strong female character. I like that she's not
- 14:17Speaker 1: some sort of like baker or you know, hmmm, yeah,
- 14:21Speaker 1: she's a baddy. I Yeah, she's a battye. I like Also,
- 14:27Speaker 1: while I was watching this, I was like, this feels
- 14:30Speaker 1: like a mystery. Mm hmmm, like a Hallmark. Miss like
- 14:33Speaker 1: a Hallmark. It's in that genre. They're really not like
- 14:38Speaker 1: defining it though, are they No, because the mystery is
- 14:41Speaker 1: secondary to I think the ultimate destiny of it all. Yeah.
- 14:48Speaker 1: I like Cora a lot. I like her character a lot.
- 14:51Speaker 1: I love Katie Stevens, but I like Cora a lot
- 14:54Speaker 1: as well, so watching her is is entertaining enough for me. Yeah.
- 15:04Speaker 2: I really like both Katie Stevens and her character as well.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Here's another book versus movie, if I may. A choice
- 15:13Speaker 2: that the movie has made that was not made in
- 15:16Speaker 2: the book is that we have history repeating itself with
- 15:18Speaker 2: many of the same characters. Now, much like in the book,
- 15:22Speaker 2: we have these characters that have all been reincarnated.
- 15:25Speaker 1: It's not just Cora and Liam. We do have Meredith Brady,
- 15:32Speaker 1: but the choice to where her husband dies.
- 15:37Speaker 2: That does happen in the book, but it's not a
- 15:39Speaker 2: repeat of history. Like what we're seeing is like everything
- 15:42Speaker 2: is happening the way that it happened in the past.
- 15:44Speaker 2: I like that choice, and I think it adds to
- 15:47Speaker 2: the drama of Finn's needing to make a decision that's
- 15:51Speaker 2: best for Cora as opposed to his needs.
- 15:54Speaker 1: And what she wants. I have some thoughts on the
- 15:56Speaker 1: whole destiny of at all in my.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Wishes, but I do think it adds some drama to
- 16:03Speaker 2: his choice, particularly in the cliffhanger ending of this episode
- 16:07Speaker 2: where Core comes clean to him and she's like, I'd
- 16:09Speaker 2: like to find out what this can be, right after
- 16:11Speaker 2: he has committed to getting her together with Liam, knowing
- 16:14Speaker 2: that's the only thing that's going to save her.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, that was great. That was great. Let's talk
- 16:22Speaker 1: Matty Finocchio for a minute. Oh my gosh. So happy
- 16:25Speaker 1: to see him, Like we always get him as like this,
- 16:28Speaker 1: like lovable goof m I I'm into this kind of
- 16:33Speaker 1: smart ass detective version. Yeah. He plays it so well.
- 16:39Speaker 1: More of this, please, more of this, more of this. Yeah,
- 16:42Speaker 1: he's one of those actors that we have been calling
- 16:45Speaker 1: for for a long time. Give this guy a bigger role,
- 16:47Speaker 1: give this, give him a lead role. This is a
- 16:50Speaker 1: pretty big role. Yeah, his police chief role. Yeah. I
- 16:54Speaker 1: love it. I love seeing him and I also really
- 16:57Speaker 1: enjoy the friendship between Cora and Susette as well. I
- 17:03Speaker 1: like that we just don't have. You know, every Hallmark movie,
- 17:07Speaker 1: our female lead needs a sounding board. She needs an
- 17:11Speaker 1: insert bestie here. Susie's great. I like Susette a lot.
- 17:16Speaker 1: I love Susette. I also I want Cora's haircut. Oh,
- 17:20Speaker 1: Cora has great hair, like the way Katie Stephens like
- 17:23Speaker 1: her bangs fall out of her bun. It's perfect, It's great.
- 17:25Speaker 1: I love it. Yeah, I know, she looks so good.
- 17:28Speaker 1: I read that she had a baby at oh some
- 17:32Speaker 1: point too. You know, we reference it a lot the
- 17:35Speaker 1: series The Bowld Type. I can't remember the actress's name,
- 17:39Speaker 1: Megan Fahee is that her name? Who was in The
- 17:42Speaker 1: Boll Type, who was like completely blowing up all over
- 17:45Speaker 1: right now, And so I was waiting, like for Katie
- 17:50Speaker 1: Stevens to get her moment. But like obviously she was
- 17:52Speaker 1: building a family or whatever, which is great. I'm happy
- 17:56Speaker 1: to see her in this role. I would love for
- 17:59Speaker 1: her to be in more homes. I think she's just
- 18:01Speaker 1: a phenomenal actor. I think she's a great fit here. Oh, now,
- 18:07Speaker 1: can you see Katie Stevens in like a regular one
- 18:11Speaker 1: off Hallmark.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Movie or no, Yeah, I could see her. I could
- 18:15Speaker 2: see her in a Christmas movie.
- 18:17Speaker 1: I wonder if she can do comedy. Yeah, because her
- 18:21Speaker 1: bold type role was real serious, like she was not
- 18:24Speaker 1: the silly one at all. Yeah, I wonder if she
- 18:27Speaker 1: can do comedy. I would be interested to see her
- 18:30Speaker 1: in something. You know, like Bethany Joy Lynz can can
- 18:36Speaker 1: do a lot of comedy. Her movies are kind of elevated.
- 18:41Speaker 1: I don't know, just wondering, anyway, do you have any
- 18:46Speaker 1: more likes? Just one, just a little baby like I
- 18:50Speaker 1: think they did a nice job. Really liked the zipper scene.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Thought it was hot or Liam zips up her dress
- 18:56Speaker 1: with the music. You know what it reminded me of
- 18:59Speaker 1: is that movie from the early nineties with let Me
- 19:06Speaker 1: Get There. Hang on just a second, the brain is
- 19:09Speaker 1: working Demi Moore or Indecent Proposal, Indecent Proposal, where they
- 19:14Speaker 1: had a scene where like he's unzipping the dress. Yes,
- 19:19Speaker 1: it was the same kind of tone. Obviously he's sipping
- 19:22Speaker 1: up the dress in this scene, but there was something
- 19:25Speaker 1: about it that I was like, this feels very familiar.
- 19:29Speaker 1: It was just like the same kind of tension. Yeah,
- 19:33Speaker 1: it was real sexy. Yeah, let's stop wishes. Okay, here's
- 19:38Speaker 1: my biggest one. There was too much past, not enough present.
- 19:44Speaker 1: I know you said earlier, You're like, there's not it's
- 19:46Speaker 1: not that bad. It's mostly in present day, you know,
- 19:49Speaker 1: you know me like, I don't like historical pieces however,
- 19:54Speaker 1: but that said, I love the Way Home and I
- 19:58Speaker 1: love when they go back to the eighty hundreds. So
- 20:01Speaker 1: I was like going into this going like, Wendy, you
- 20:05Speaker 1: don't hate it, like, just be open to it. Yeah,
- 20:08Speaker 1: I prefer the present day stuff, but we need the
- 20:11Speaker 1: past stuff to tell the story. But they don't know.
- 20:14Speaker 1: I don't know what it is though. I don't know
- 20:16Speaker 1: if it's the way they talk. Yeah, I don't. I
- 20:22Speaker 1: don't know. I wish I could articulate, like what I
- 20:26Speaker 1: don't enjoy about it. A lot of it I can
- 20:32Speaker 1: tell you has to do. The scenes are very dark,
- 20:35Speaker 1: they are, and I don't know full disclosure. We got
- 20:39Speaker 1: these on a screener, so I don't know if I
- 20:43Speaker 1: think they're done. I think you think this is a
- 20:45Speaker 1: final I do. There's the scenes are so dark they
- 20:49Speaker 1: are agreed greed, So I don't know if that's like
- 20:53Speaker 1: if I just can't like, I'm like, what's happening. I
- 20:56Speaker 1: can't really see and as I'm watching on a screener.
- 20:59Speaker 1: We don't have up titles either, so hard time hearing
- 21:02Speaker 1: exactly like what is being said. So that's a me problem.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Well, one of my biggest wishes comes down to the
- 21:14Speaker 2: whole destiny of it all. They Liam was a bad
- 21:18Speaker 2: dude and to keep from going to hell, basically, he
- 21:21Speaker 2: has to make sure that Kora achieves her destiny. My
- 21:24Speaker 2: question is, if it's her destiny, wouldn't it happen no
- 21:28Speaker 2: matter what. Yeah, that's the confusing part to me is
- 21:33Speaker 2: they're like, no, her destiny is to be with Liam,
- 21:36Speaker 2: and she dies, right, she dies in the past, and
- 21:40Speaker 2: the history is going to repeat itself. She's going to
- 21:42Speaker 2: die now if she goes with you instead of with Liam,
- 21:44Speaker 2: if with Fenn. With Fenn, you're right, her destiny is
- 21:47Speaker 2: to be with Finn. Thank you to four letter vaguely
- 21:51Speaker 2: Irish names.
- 21:53Speaker 1: But if if that is her destiny, then that should
- 21:56Speaker 1: be what happens no matter what. You shouldn't be able
- 21:58Speaker 1: to interrupt it. You shouldn't need a reincarnated past love
- 22:02Speaker 1: in order to guide her on her destiny. Okay, but whatever,
- 22:06Speaker 1: I'm here for it. My other wish is the angels
- 22:10Speaker 1: needed to give Liam more information to live in the
- 22:14Speaker 1: present day. In the book, they like frontload him. He's like, Oh,
- 22:18Speaker 1: the angels have given me enough memory so that I
- 22:19Speaker 1: understand what I'm doing here. He's not, like, why is
- 22:22Speaker 1: my pocket ringing? Yeah, he needs to understand cars, he
- 22:27Speaker 1: needs to understand phones, he needs to understand gender equality,
- 22:29Speaker 1: like some basic information needed to be loaded into his
- 22:35Speaker 1: little past brain. Well, we have the same the same
- 22:40Speaker 1: criticism of the Way Home as well, like we have
- 22:45Speaker 1: oh my god, what is that character's name? Jacob? Yeah,
- 22:48Speaker 1: we have Jacob returning to present day and he doesn't
- 22:52Speaker 1: he isn't aware of all the present day luxuries we have. Right,
- 22:56Speaker 1: it's kind of the same idea. I agree. Why didn't
- 22:59Speaker 1: the angels unload him? I don't. I don't know, And
- 23:02Speaker 1: in the in the book they do.
- 23:03Speaker 2: And even in the book he like, he's like, I
- 23:05Speaker 2: need he doesn't understand computers, and he like asks them,
- 23:08Speaker 2: y'all need to help me out here, like I need
- 23:10Speaker 2: to need some computer knowledge to do my job. It
- 23:13Speaker 2: seems like it could have been like a funny line
- 23:15Speaker 2: here too in the movie, because the movie is so
- 23:18Speaker 2: much more comedic than the books are, it could have
- 23:20Speaker 2: been something where he could have been like, yo, help
- 23:22Speaker 2: a dude out. It's just so incongruous what I'm sitting
- 23:26Speaker 2: here thinking about the way home. And at least in
- 23:28Speaker 2: the way home, there's like a couple of people who
- 23:30Speaker 2: know Jacob's origin, so they understand that he doesn't know
- 23:34Speaker 2: the way of the future. Liam's all alone, so he
- 23:37Speaker 2: doesn't have anybody to like help.
- 23:39Speaker 1: It doesn't Argon come.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good point. Maybe that's how they Yeah,
- 23:44Speaker 2: Agon comes and that's his name, Egon and exists, which
- 23:49Speaker 2: is another weird thing, like nobody wonders where this who
- 23:52Speaker 2: this dude the police officer came from that nobody recognizes.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Yeah, just some incongruities. The Angel stuff is is weird
- 24:01Speaker 1: to me. It's not weird, it feels out of place.
- 24:04Speaker 1: I think while I was watching it yesterday, I sent
- 24:07Speaker 1: you a text. I was like, this seems like completely
- 24:09Speaker 1: weird because we have these like bright stark, very like
- 24:13Speaker 1: liminal spaces right that I'm like, what what's happening here
- 24:18Speaker 1: between you know, the past, the Ireland stuff in the
- 24:23Speaker 1: past and the present day. And then it reminded me
- 24:26Speaker 1: of the movie My Dreams of You remember, where they
- 24:30Speaker 1: were like manufacturer that they were like tinkering in the
- 24:33Speaker 1: in the dream space and these like unworldly places and
- 24:38Speaker 1: they had like the VHS tame. Yes, I'm like, why
- 24:41Speaker 1: is everything like so outdated technology wise? Like why is
- 24:45Speaker 1: this what it looks like? Uh huh, yeah, you think
- 24:47Speaker 1: they'd have like a high tech situation room situation and
- 24:50Speaker 1: not this like four inch TV. Yeah. Yeah. And then
- 24:55Speaker 1: I wondered, I was like, could this story work without this,
- 25:00Speaker 1: without the angels, without this layer?
- 25:03Speaker 2: Then what's the motivation? Right, like because the whole point
- 25:06Speaker 2: is he's trying to save her and himself.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, I'm not an author of fiction, so
- 25:14Speaker 1: I don't have an answer for you. But I don't know.
- 25:18Speaker 1: It just feels too multilayered to me. It's like it's
- 25:21Speaker 1: a lot for me to find it all believable. Yeah,
- 25:25Speaker 1: for sure, it's not a realistic movie like this is
- 25:28Speaker 1: definitely lives in the fantasy realm for me. Yeah, and
- 25:32Speaker 1: I like that genre. I just needed to be a
- 25:35Speaker 1: little bit believable. Maybe I don't know. I was all
- 25:39Speaker 1: in I'm jumping in a pond, so I don't you know,
- 25:41Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't know. Yeah, I don't know either.
- 25:44Speaker 1: I do say I think that you're very pleased that
- 25:47Speaker 1: they did the angels this way and not the way
- 25:49Speaker 1: they were described in the books, with their like blonde
- 25:51Speaker 1: ringlets and they're flowing robes and they appear out of
- 25:54Speaker 1: the mist, and you know, it's a lot it's real
- 25:56Speaker 1: like angelic. I don't know. Maybe that would make it
- 26:00Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 26:00Speaker 2: I wonder as a viewer, like, does that make it
- 26:02Speaker 2: easier or are we enjoying this like the Good Place.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Vision of the angels. Yeah, I like it more personally,
- 26:11Speaker 1: but it is like maybe almost too realistic to buy it. Yeah,
- 26:20Speaker 1: I would be interested to hear what that conversation was
- 26:23Speaker 1: like with their choices of how are we going to
- 26:25Speaker 1: navigate this whole angel's thing, because maybe they don't want
- 26:30Speaker 1: to touch it in terms of it being too faith based. Yes,
- 26:35Speaker 1: you know, the stereotypical imagery of what an you know,
- 26:40Speaker 1: an angel might be. So that's interesting. It's very interesting.
- 26:47Speaker 1: My final wish is I did think this episode was
- 26:51Speaker 1: a little bit slow, But I think, like you said
- 26:56Speaker 1: at the top of the episode, the first book you
- 27:00Speaker 1: reference the first book, there's a lot of like context,
- 27:03Speaker 1: like there's got a there's a lot of like stuff
- 27:06Speaker 1: that they have to build out first for this multi
- 27:11Speaker 1: arc like this. You know, so I think we're gonna
- 27:14Speaker 1: get there, Like I can tell it's like going to
- 27:16Speaker 1: be the long game, and I'm interested. I didn't think
- 27:18Speaker 1: it was. I didn't think it was slow to the
- 27:22Speaker 1: point of like, oh my god, I want to stop
- 27:24Speaker 1: watching this. I think that it in my mind. I
- 27:28Speaker 1: was like, this isn't your one and done Hallmark movie,
- 27:31Speaker 1: your hour and forty minute movie. Like this is obviously
- 27:34Speaker 1: like multi episodes, so I can buy into it being
- 27:39Speaker 1: like a little bit slow to start well.
- 27:42Speaker 2: And I also think one important thing for people to
- 27:45Speaker 2: realize watching this, this is a true trilogy. This isn't
- 27:49Speaker 2: a collection. These movies build on each other. Whereas The
- 27:53Speaker 2: Groom's Been the Wedding Veil, those each standalone. Yes they
- 27:56Speaker 2: have connections to the other movies, but they tell a
- 27:58Speaker 2: complete story, and that's not what we're getting here. Like
- 28:00Speaker 2: you really need to watch one, then two, then three
- 28:03Speaker 2: to get the.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Full story right right? Right? Are you ready for? Did
- 28:09Speaker 1: you see that? Sure? I don't have any true did
- 28:13Speaker 1: you see That's just just some thoughts? Okay, go ahead.
- 28:18Speaker 1: One when Cora catches Jake when she confronts him about
- 28:23Speaker 1: his gas station dealings, and he fakes her out and
- 28:28Speaker 1: takes off running and then fumbles his keys. I didn't
- 28:32Speaker 1: love it. I felt very poshly. I was like this,
- 28:35Speaker 1: this guy is not giving me tough guy, yeah, yeah
- 28:40Speaker 1: at all. Like Cora is a bigger baddie than this guy.
- 28:45Speaker 1: He's really like fumbles.
- 28:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:47Speaker 1: That it was rough. I was like, uh, okay, two
- 28:50Speaker 1: more quick takes.
- 28:51Speaker 2: I was watching this movie and my husband walked in
- 28:53Speaker 2: the room, took one look at Eggon and he says
- 28:54Speaker 2: he looks like a short Ross Geller.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, he does. I was like, that's going
- 29:02Speaker 1: in the notes. I love it. Finally, our boy Finn
- 29:06Speaker 1: took Katillion, which is why he knows how to ballroom
- 29:10Speaker 1: dance and has manners. I went to Katilion six dang
- 29:13Speaker 1: years of it. So Finn, I see you, bro. You
- 29:17Speaker 1: know it is so funny. You know what I thought
- 29:18Speaker 1: about It was a full Gilmore girl's moment when Lauraai
- 29:23Speaker 1: tells Rory that Luke can dance, and she's like, Luke
- 29:26Speaker 1: can dance, Luke can dance, And I was like, Ben
- 29:29Speaker 1: can dance dance? Yeah, my only did you see that
- 29:33Speaker 1: is at the top of the episode when Cora wakes
- 29:37Speaker 1: up from her nightmare and girlfriend's got a full face
- 29:39Speaker 1: of makeup and I'm talking like a full lip like okay,
- 29:44Speaker 1: all right, all right.
- 29:46Speaker 3: That's all.
- 29:47Speaker 1: I'm a little nervous to ask, what did you rate?
- 29:49Speaker 1: Chance of a lifetime? Don't be nervous. I think it's
- 29:51Speaker 1: a promising start. I gave it four stars. Oh interesting,
- 29:54Speaker 1: me too, Okay, yeah, cool.
