- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one piece episodes six forty three through six forty five,
- 0:15Speaker 1: Shaking Heaven and Earth, Admiral Fujita's Power, a blow of Anger,
- 0:21Speaker 1: a giant versus Lucy, and Destruction Cannon blasts Lucy in trouble.
- 0:29Speaker 1: In these episodes, we have a lot of irons in
- 0:35Speaker 1: the fire right now, and even though I thought we
- 0:38Speaker 1: were on our way to everybody mostly regrouping, it's beginning
- 0:43Speaker 1: to look like that's going to take longer than I
- 0:45Speaker 1: thought it would. Welcome to spoil Me. Welcome to the
- 1:09Speaker 1: show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you very much to
- 1:12Speaker 1: Florian for commissioning this episode, and Florian is here in
- 1:15Speaker 1: the chat as well as sarahm the Welcome to both
- 1:19Speaker 1: of you. Delighted to have you here. So yeah, these
- 1:24Speaker 1: three episodes are I mean, okay, so I said this
- 1:29Speaker 1: last time and I'm going to reiterate it just so
- 1:34Speaker 1: that if you are jumping around episodes, which I don't
- 1:37Speaker 1: know why you would. Sorry, I dropped my tissue box
- 1:40Speaker 1: and forgive me if I sound weird. Guys, I'm still
- 1:43Speaker 1: fighting the spronchitis from COVID and I am not over
- 1:48Speaker 1: it yet, but this, this Coliseum fight feels really it
- 1:57Speaker 1: feels like I am the author had hoped I would
- 2:02Speaker 1: care about it a lot more than I do, and
- 2:05Speaker 1: it's just really difficult for me to get invested because
- 2:10Speaker 1: I think that, so, you know, we've the whole way
- 2:16Speaker 1: that I have been covering one piece has been from
- 2:20Speaker 1: the start kind of loving the absurdity of a lot
- 2:23Speaker 1: of it and then getting a little bit hung up
- 2:26Speaker 1: on how unlikely certain things are when the show wants
- 2:32Speaker 1: me to care about people and then it doesn't like
- 2:36Speaker 1: actually have any real risk, And I go back and
- 2:42Speaker 1: forth in my success on whether or not I'm able
- 2:45Speaker 1: to set aside how I feel about that, because sometimes
- 2:48Speaker 1: I really can just be like, okay, fine, you know,
- 2:51Speaker 1: I know everybody here is going to be okay, but
- 2:54Speaker 1: I'm still worried about what's going to happen in the interim,
- 2:57Speaker 1: or what's going to happen to like a side character
- 2:58Speaker 1: or whatever. And then there are times where I find
- 3:03Speaker 1: it really almost impossible to set aside the fact that
- 3:07Speaker 1: I know everything is going to be fine because it's
- 3:11Speaker 1: taking so long to get to the point, and it
- 3:14Speaker 1: feels like it's trying to drive this sense of tension,
- 3:18Speaker 1: and all of that depends on me feeling like there's
- 3:21Speaker 1: any risk for my people at all, and I don't
- 3:24Speaker 1: feel that. So Sarahim says, it's just impressive he took
- 3:30Speaker 1: this long to get to the requisite shown in tournament arc. Yeah,
- 3:33Speaker 1: it's funny. You guys know that I covered the Cradle series,
- 3:37Speaker 1: and when I was covering that and we got to
- 3:39Speaker 1: a tournament in that, I was like, really delighted by it.
- 3:42Speaker 1: And then once I started covering one Piece, I begin
- 3:44Speaker 1: to realize, like, just how incredibly influenced by anime in general,
- 3:49Speaker 1: and clearly one Piece specifically he was when he wrote Cradle.
- 3:53Speaker 1: And so when we got to the tournament here, I
- 3:56Speaker 1: was like, oh, yeah, okay, here we go. But the
- 4:00Speaker 1: thing is that what the tournament does, is it, if anything,
- 4:08Speaker 1: shines a brighter light on the thing that I try
- 4:12Speaker 1: so hard to ignore. So it's doing no services to
- 4:17Speaker 1: the story and is in fact hampering my ability to
- 4:21Speaker 1: go along with things, because all it is is one
- 4:25Speaker 1: hugely badass guy vaunted by everybody. The announcer can't stop
- 4:32Speaker 1: talking about how impressive this guy's attack is. All of
- 4:35Speaker 1: the shit he can do how many people are afraid
- 4:38Speaker 1: of him, the number of men that this guy has
- 4:41Speaker 1: already killed, and then he steps up and he does
- 4:44Speaker 1: his crazy attack and a bunch of people fall down,
- 4:49Speaker 1: and then eventually another guy comes up and kills that guy.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Rince repeat, and it's just like we've had I think
- 4:57Speaker 1: at least twelve by this point, right, So it's over
- 5:02Speaker 1: and over again. Guys that like we're getting all of
- 5:06Speaker 1: this time dedicated to who ultimately don't matter at all
- 5:11Speaker 1: except for being a stepping stone towards showing us somebody
- 5:14Speaker 1: who's actually much more intimidating and powerful. And I don't
- 5:23Speaker 1: think I would mind this as much if we didn't
- 5:26Speaker 1: spend so much time on it and behave the whole
- 5:29Speaker 1: way as if it were going to suddenly turn into
- 5:32Speaker 1: something else. But I know what we're doing, and we
- 5:37Speaker 1: don't need to focus on it as much as we
- 5:40Speaker 1: are if this is all it's going to be. And
- 5:43Speaker 1: it's just like my attitude that I mentioned from the
- 5:47Speaker 1: last episode of not learning anybody's names and just letting
- 5:49Speaker 1: it wash over me because I don't know who's going
- 5:51Speaker 1: to actually be important. When you get into this many
- 5:55Speaker 1: episodes in a row of me having to do that,
- 5:57Speaker 1: it starts to feel like I'm just disconnecting from the
- 6:00Speaker 1: show in general, and I don't want to do that.
- 6:03Speaker 1: I don't like that, you know. And it's also really
- 6:06Speaker 1: tough because like when somebody's ability is supposed to be
- 6:11Speaker 1: so threatening, but all it is is a ton of
- 6:15Speaker 1: like fire and broomstone, it's a you know, sound and fury,
- 6:23Speaker 1: and then nobody actually seems that hurt by it. It's
- 6:28Speaker 1: really tough for me to understand what about them is
- 6:33Speaker 1: meant to be threatening because it's sort of like going
- 6:38Speaker 1: back to the thing way back with is it Kuma?
- 6:44Speaker 1: What is the guy who was like partially a robot
- 6:47Speaker 1: and he does that like power that we back up
- 6:51Speaker 1: from the island and we see what looks like essentially
- 6:55Speaker 1: a mushroom cloud, and it's this huge impress sive attack.
- 7:03Speaker 1: But then when we come back to the island, everybody's fine, right.
- 7:10Speaker 1: So this is the example that I think of the
- 7:14Speaker 1: most because when I saw that attack, I really did
- 7:17Speaker 1: have a moment of like, is that island even there anymore?
- 7:20Speaker 1: And then when we return to the scene, nothing has
- 7:26Speaker 1: really been done. It's like he managed to knock everyone
- 7:29Speaker 1: out for a second, but they're not actually harmed that badly.
- 7:34Speaker 1: The one person who walks away from this whole thing
- 7:36Speaker 1: feeling like they really sustained some damage was Zoro because
- 7:41Speaker 1: of the way things went down with him on an
- 7:44Speaker 1: individual level. So Kuma the Ursa shack, Thank you guys. Yes,
- 7:51Speaker 1: so this has been you know, after that initial moment
- 7:55Speaker 1: with Kuma, that was like the moment that I started
- 7:57Speaker 1: to be like, oh god, okay, So no matter how
- 8:01Speaker 1: impressive somebody seems, when you come right down to it,
- 8:07Speaker 1: their attacks are going to be all show and it's
- 8:10Speaker 1: not really gonna do anything. Like the one thing that
- 8:14Speaker 1: I'll say about somebody like Moria is that even though
- 8:17Speaker 1: he gets defeated, at least his power like is doing
- 8:21Speaker 1: something to really change the landscape of the fight. When
- 8:24Speaker 1: he's stripping people from their shadows and stuff. It may
- 8:27Speaker 1: be that they don't wind up permanently hurt by it,
- 8:30Speaker 1: but at least it's like in the scenes, really changing
- 8:36Speaker 1: up how everything can work. But in the Colosseum, we
- 8:42Speaker 1: don't have anybody who has that kind of interesting ability.
- 8:48Speaker 1: The most we got was, like I guess, like Bella
- 8:55Speaker 1: knows with his springs, you know, that's the only person
- 8:58Speaker 1: that I can think of, the king that has the
- 9:01Speaker 1: big punch literally just has to be defended by all
- 9:04Speaker 1: his guys and not do anything in order for his
- 9:07Speaker 1: punch to work. And otherwise we've had like our green
- 9:14Speaker 1: haired guy that I really like, the Cannibal. He his
- 9:18Speaker 1: man eater, I think is what Florian said. The name
- 9:20Speaker 1: really translates to. He has had his like ability. That is,
- 9:27Speaker 1: it's fun because this guy can troll people and that
- 9:30Speaker 1: makes it more interesting to watch, so that's something. Otherwise, though,
- 9:36Speaker 1: it feels like we're just getting dudes that are big,
- 9:40Speaker 1: lots of dudes who are very strong and very big,
- 9:44Speaker 1: and every time you think that's the biggest guy, another
- 9:47Speaker 1: bigger guy comes out, and then another bigger guy than
- 9:50Speaker 1: that guy comes out, and it just starts to be like,
- 9:53Speaker 1: is this it is that all we're doing? And I'm
- 9:56Speaker 1: sure if you were actually in the audience for this,
- 9:58Speaker 1: it would be very fun to watch. But because I
- 10:02Speaker 1: am sitting on the sidelines waiting for the part where
- 10:05Speaker 1: Loofy defeats everybody, basically I am bored by it. And
- 10:13Speaker 1: Florian says I used to feel the same way about
- 10:16Speaker 1: the tournament. Yeah, and Seraphim says that said A good
- 10:21Speaker 1: part of the issue is also how much Toy padded
- 10:24Speaker 1: things out in the anime. Am I saying that right, Toy,
- 10:29Speaker 1: it's t o e I the uh you know, creators
- 10:34Speaker 1: of the anime. But I don't remember if you guys
- 10:36Speaker 1: have told me how I'm how I should pronounce it.
- 10:41Speaker 1: So anyway, I just I really have I am. I
- 10:47Speaker 1: am aware of the fact that the universe here functions
- 10:54Speaker 1: in such a way that nobody really dies, that like
- 10:58Speaker 1: profound injuries aren't really permanent. Even what we usually get
- 11:05Speaker 1: are people that are sick for a while in some
- 11:09Speaker 1: way and in like a critical sense, and then they recover.
- 11:13Speaker 1: But we don't ever have anybody even with like a
- 11:16Speaker 1: broken bone, that they need to be worried about healing.
- 11:20Speaker 1: It usually feels like we get people covered in bandages
- 11:23Speaker 1: and then like an episode later or even at the
- 11:25Speaker 1: end of the same episode, as bandages are gone and
- 11:27Speaker 1: they're basically fine like a lot of the time. So
- 11:31Speaker 1: I try and keep that in mind and just be like,
- 11:33Speaker 1: you know, I can't hang on to that as something,
- 11:35Speaker 1: even though I think it would be more satisfying narratively,
- 11:39Speaker 1: that's just not this universe and I have to be
- 11:42Speaker 1: okay with that, and I managed to do it mostly,
- 11:46Speaker 1: But I just think this tournament leans into so many
- 11:50Speaker 1: things that are it's like, specifically this property's weakness actually
- 11:57Speaker 1: that it makes it more difficult to watch overall, because
- 12:02Speaker 1: I'm like, you're just highlighting everything that I think doesn't
- 12:06Speaker 1: really work about the way combat works in this world
- 12:11Speaker 1: and the fact that there don't really seem to be
- 12:14Speaker 1: stakes a lot of the time, and that is the
- 12:18Speaker 1: thing that I'm I just am being forced to constantly
- 12:23Speaker 1: look at in these episodes. So and loofy, It's like
- 12:29Speaker 1: it's such a weird thing because it feels like his
- 12:32Speaker 1: cover has been blown a couple times, but nobody is
- 12:35Speaker 1: really buying it except for Cavendish obviously, who is very
- 12:39Speaker 1: angry that nobody else is buying it. So I'm also
- 12:43Speaker 1: struggling with like feeling much, feeling very much urgency about
- 12:49Speaker 1: him keeping his cover because I feel like if nobody
- 12:54Speaker 1: has figured it out at this point, even though multiple
- 12:58Speaker 1: people have pointed it out, and all anybody would have
- 13:00Speaker 1: to do is call time out and go down there
- 13:03Speaker 1: and pull his helmet off and his mustache off, I
- 13:07Speaker 1: am not like I am certain there is gonna come
- 13:12Speaker 1: a point where his identity is actually revealed and there's
- 13:17Speaker 1: like a free for all of some kind while everybody
- 13:19Speaker 1: tries to get to him. But that feels very much
- 13:24Speaker 1: like I am expecting this because of the narrative structure
- 13:29Speaker 1: of this kind of plotline and the tropes surrounding it,
- 13:32Speaker 1: not because it feels like it is being well set
- 13:34Speaker 1: up in the story. So I this is this. When
- 13:40Speaker 1: it feels like that, that's when you get into really
- 13:43Speaker 1: unfortunate territory of your audience just sort of sitting around
- 13:49Speaker 1: waiting for a thing to happen and not actually feeling
- 13:52Speaker 1: engaged by all of the events that are allegedly leading
- 13:56Speaker 1: up to that thing. So yeah, and I really I
- 14:01Speaker 1: want to emphasize when I say all this, I'm only
- 14:04Speaker 1: talking about Loofy's story, and I don't feel this way
- 14:08Speaker 1: about a lot of the other plot lines that are happening,
- 14:11Speaker 1: with the sole exception being the thing going on with
- 14:15Speaker 1: Do Flamingo and Law and so it's like, I don't
- 14:20Speaker 1: hate this arc. I just feel like everybody but Lufy
- 14:25Speaker 1: has something way more interesting going on, and I don't
- 14:31Speaker 1: want to be spending as much time with him as
- 14:33Speaker 1: I am. It's very clearly like what we have done
- 14:39Speaker 1: with this tournament is drop Loofy to the bottom of
- 14:44Speaker 1: a lake, or got him stuck between two buildings, or
- 14:49Speaker 1: put him in some kind of cage. Every time that
- 14:53Speaker 1: you've got one of these big arcs that you have
- 14:55Speaker 1: to take Loofy out of the equation for a little
- 14:57Speaker 1: while so that everybody else gets into place and then
- 15:01Speaker 1: he can get got at the leisure of the big
- 15:03Speaker 1: bad So at the very least, keeping Loofy out of
- 15:09Speaker 1: the main fight by doing this is more interesting than
- 15:13Speaker 1: him just being stuck in like a shaft somewhere. But
- 15:17Speaker 1: that's really kind of an incredibly low bar that I
- 15:22Speaker 1: don't even think this is clearing that successfully. It's like
- 15:27Speaker 1: it's more interesting, but only a little. And I would
- 15:32Speaker 1: argue that this is worse because when he gets stuck somewhere,
- 15:35Speaker 1: we don't spend very much time with him, so we
- 15:38Speaker 1: don't have to sit there and watch him be stuck
- 15:40Speaker 1: trying to get unstuck for that much of the show.
- 15:44Speaker 1: But because this is the attack we're taking to get
- 15:47Speaker 1: him distracted and out of the main series of events,
- 15:51Speaker 1: and we're spending so much time on it. It's just
- 15:54Speaker 1: a really bad combination. So anyway, I just it's really
- 16:01Speaker 1: difficult how how much of this is probably just padding
- 16:07Speaker 1: when there are so many more interesting things you could do.
- 16:10Speaker 1: And I feel this way every time you guys know
- 16:12Speaker 1: that the things they choose to pad out I find
- 16:14Speaker 1: puzzling because there are a lot of much more fun
- 16:18Speaker 1: options all the time and they never take them. And
- 16:20Speaker 1: I don't get why, like it has it has to
- 16:24Speaker 1: be just something about the economy of the animation or something.
- 16:29Speaker 1: So now that I have just started like the first
- 16:32Speaker 1: twenty minutes of this just complaining, I'm sorry everybody, but
- 16:35Speaker 1: I just really want you guys to understand where I'm
- 16:37Speaker 1: coming from here, let's talk about the things that I
- 16:41Speaker 1: actually like. So first of all, just the thing going
- 16:47Speaker 1: on with Soanjy and his girl Violet. I found it
- 16:54Speaker 1: very funny that Violet not only knows right where this
- 16:59Speaker 1: factory is, she also has a map that can lead
- 17:02Speaker 1: him there on her person. So she hands this over
- 17:06Speaker 1: to him, and Sonjie is basically like, if they know
- 17:10Speaker 1: that you gave me this map, you were going to
- 17:13Speaker 1: be in so much trouble, Like there's I can't just
- 17:16Speaker 1: let you go back to these dudes, because that sealed
- 17:19Speaker 1: your fate pretty much. And she just sort of laughs
- 17:25Speaker 1: and calls him hopeless before running off. And I love
- 17:30Speaker 1: that he uses a transponder Snail to talk to Frankie
- 17:33Speaker 1: for a little bit and get sort of like the
- 17:35Speaker 1: updates on what's going on and give him information also,
- 17:39Speaker 1: And when he's talking to Frankie and Frankie is like,
- 17:43Speaker 1: what are you? What have you even been doing? Sanji
- 17:46Speaker 1: says to Frankie, I've been falling in love. And Frankie says,
- 17:54Speaker 1: I that's sweet. And it was so funny because I
- 17:58Speaker 1: felt like is one of maybe like two characters that
- 18:02Speaker 1: would actually react that way. Everybody else is so over
- 18:06Speaker 1: Soangi's shit with women that I don't think anybody else
- 18:11Speaker 1: would have had a positive reaction to that statement. But
- 18:16Speaker 1: it's I feel like it's Frankie and maybe Loofy, perhaps
- 18:23Speaker 1: Brooke perhaps, and otherwise everybody would just be like, oh, oh,
- 18:27Speaker 1: here we go again, you know, but Frankie is very
- 18:30Speaker 1: much like, all good for you, man, you know. I
- 18:34Speaker 1: will mention too that we still despite the fact that
- 18:39Speaker 1: we had this toy soldier at this point, like eight
- 18:42Speaker 1: episodes earlier, be like, you don't know the terrible history
- 18:45Speaker 1: of dress Rosa. He still has not told it or
- 18:49Speaker 1: we haven't seen it still. So at this point, I'm
- 18:52Speaker 1: just starting to be like, I don't know when we're
- 18:54Speaker 1: getting this story. Like I genuinely I thought I knew
- 18:58Speaker 1: how this was going to shake out, and I clearly don't.
- 19:03Speaker 1: So I'm gonna jump back to the sonny because this
- 19:09Speaker 1: is so strange. Excuse me, guys, I'm so sorry. Let
- 19:15Speaker 1: me take this inp of this tea here, I got
- 19:16Speaker 1: this mint lemon tea. My poor throat is like just
- 19:23Speaker 1: not wanting to cooperate. So on the sunny there is
- 19:31Speaker 1: a woman who works for the don Quixote Pirates. I
- 19:38Speaker 1: feel like her name was like Edith or Enid. I'm
- 19:42Speaker 1: having to go back to that spot here, but she
- 19:48Speaker 1: is a oh no, it's Giola, I think is the
- 19:52Speaker 1: way that you say it, I got that way wrong.
- 19:54Speaker 1: She looks like such an Enid to me, honestly, But
- 19:59Speaker 1: this lady is she has some sort of devil fruit power.
- 20:06Speaker 1: And I can't remember if she says what the fruit's
- 20:10Speaker 1: name was, if it was like the art art fruit
- 20:13Speaker 1: or something, but she is turning everything around her into
- 20:21Speaker 1: pieces of art, and that is a very loose, you know,
- 20:26Speaker 1: like what you consider art. That's a very subjective, open
- 20:30Speaker 1: ended thing. So the art that she is creating, it's
- 20:36Speaker 1: very much giving like nineties modern. There was the oh,
- 20:45Speaker 1: she's on the sheet, I forgot about the sheet. Thank you, Florian,
- 20:47Speaker 1: the art art fruit, thank you. Yes, she is turning
- 20:53Speaker 1: everything into these Impressionist sort of there's so she eventually,
- 21:03Speaker 1: like spoilers, winds up transforming the sonny, and because the
- 21:08Speaker 1: sonny has that weird sort of lion slash sunflower on
- 21:12Speaker 1: the front, she turns that into something that actually looked
- 21:17Speaker 1: a lot like some pieces of art that I have
- 21:20Speaker 1: seen in life. And there was just something very familiar
- 21:25Speaker 1: about the overall style and the look of what she's
- 21:30Speaker 1: making here, and combined with her appearance, where she's got
- 21:35Speaker 1: these sort of like you know, she's got very bright,
- 21:38Speaker 1: curly red hair and these Catti glasses, and she does
- 21:45Speaker 1: have kind of the look of like a fifth grade
- 21:48Speaker 1: art teacher, and so the look of everything that she
- 21:55Speaker 1: is making kind of vibes with that a little bit.
- 21:58Speaker 1: To me. It just this is a particular style of
- 22:02Speaker 1: art that I remember how popular it was for a while,
- 22:07Speaker 1: and I didn't like it then, and I don't like
- 22:09Speaker 1: it now, And she can turn earn anything into this.
- 22:13Speaker 1: So she does this to our four friends and has
- 22:16Speaker 1: some like real weird cubist stuff going on with a
- 22:19Speaker 1: couple of them. She makes Nami look like she's like
- 22:23Speaker 1: eight years old. Basically, we get like a zero in
- 22:27Speaker 1: on her boobs deflating so that she becomes flat chested
- 22:31Speaker 1: all of a sudden. There's just a lot of a
- 22:35Speaker 1: lot of choices made with what this lady can do.
- 22:40Speaker 1: And evidently she was like hiding on the Sunny and
- 22:44Speaker 1: the point is to make sure that they can't escape
- 22:47Speaker 1: on the ship. This is like she was sent to
- 22:51Speaker 1: make it so that the Sunny isn't seaworthy anymore. So
- 22:55Speaker 1: our friends they try to escape the ship and draw
- 22:58Speaker 1: her attention to them so that she won't like continue
- 23:03Speaker 1: to fuck things up on the ship itself, because they
- 23:07Speaker 1: aren't aware going into this that that's the whole mission, Like,
- 23:12Speaker 1: she's not gonna get distracted with you guys, because fucking
- 23:15Speaker 1: the sonny up is why she's here. You guys were
- 23:18Speaker 1: actually the fun little extra bonus bit that she did
- 23:22Speaker 1: that wasn't necessary, So they like get on the water
- 23:27Speaker 1: ski thing and they leave and taunt her from far
- 23:31Speaker 1: away because they believe and I'm not really sure if
- 23:35Speaker 1: it's mentioned or if they are just assuming, but they
- 23:39Speaker 1: seem to think that if they're far enough away from her,
- 23:42Speaker 1: she won't be able to affect them. And I don't
- 23:45Speaker 1: know what her range actually is, but it seems like
- 23:47Speaker 1: they're right. But like I said, it doesn't matter because
- 23:50Speaker 1: she wants to transform the Sonny. It's like, what the
- 23:52Speaker 1: whole part of this that matters? And Brook keeps bringing
- 23:58Speaker 1: up the fact that they are going to be in
- 24:01Speaker 1: for it when Frankie sees what has happened to the Sonny,
- 24:04Speaker 1: and I have like, I have to assume that there
- 24:08Speaker 1: is a way to undo this, or else the sunny
- 24:10Speaker 1: is just gonna always look like this. I do not
- 24:13Speaker 1: believe that will be the case, but it is a
- 24:14Speaker 1: funny thing to think about that if this is we're
- 24:17Speaker 1: just like what it looks like. Now, there's also a
- 24:20Speaker 1: part of me that's like, what if Frankie liked it?
- 24:23Speaker 1: What if Frankie came back and was like, Yo, this
- 24:25Speaker 1: is actually dope as hell? He wouldn't because Frankie is
- 24:29Speaker 1: he is actually despite the fact that he's like wacky,
- 24:32Speaker 1: he's actually pretty practical with the way he builds stuff.
- 24:35Speaker 1: He wants it to have a reason for being the
- 24:38Speaker 1: way it is, whereas this lady, it is pure asthetic.
- 24:40Speaker 1: And that's all. She keeps like yelling about how she's
- 24:45Speaker 1: feeling inspiration and she feels the need to create, and
- 24:51Speaker 1: it's just the language that she is using. It's very
- 24:54Speaker 1: funny because if you've been around artists, especially artists that
- 24:59Speaker 1: are like very vocal about things in a way that
- 25:02Speaker 1: not all of them are, they will talk like this
- 25:05Speaker 1: sometimes and you just kind of have to be like, Okay,
- 25:07Speaker 1: calm down, you know, like I get it. Sometimes you
- 25:10Speaker 1: are inspired and sometimes you just want to make stuff.
- 25:12Speaker 1: I completely have that. I am an artist and I
- 25:15Speaker 1: have so many different craft things in my home because
- 25:19Speaker 1: I have a million hobbies because I'm always wanting to
- 25:22Speaker 1: make stuff. But I don't like dramatically stand up and
- 25:26Speaker 1: posture for a moment saying I feel the need to
- 25:28Speaker 1: create before I begin assembling a bracelet, you know. So
- 25:34Speaker 1: this ability. She's also like backed up by two dudes
- 25:37Speaker 1: who I was sort of hoping that these guys would
- 25:40Speaker 1: be a little bit more interesting than they seem to be.
- 25:42Speaker 1: They look sort of similar, except one has this weird
- 25:46Speaker 1: sort of like glasses thing going on that I don't
- 25:50Speaker 1: know what that is. But they don't have much personality
- 25:55Speaker 1: to them, or they're just sort of like, do you
- 25:57Speaker 1: know who you're speaking to? Like they're her lackeys, as
- 26:02Speaker 1: if she had a sort of posse, you know, like
- 26:04Speaker 1: an entourage, and they're her fans. But I don't know
- 26:10Speaker 1: what those two are actually capable of doing in terms
- 26:14Speaker 1: of fighting, or I'm assuming they don't have a devil fruit,
- 26:18Speaker 1: because it seems like if you've got a devil fruit,
- 26:21Speaker 1: you wind up with like hangers on, But hangers on
- 26:24Speaker 1: are not also devil fruit users. It's like they're the
- 26:28Speaker 1: accessories to a devil fruit user. They come in the
- 26:31Speaker 1: little box when you get your devil fruit. There's also
- 26:33Speaker 1: like a box that you open that has your henchmen
- 26:35Speaker 1: in it. So this is like that's that's pretty much
- 26:42Speaker 1: a wrap on what's going on over on the Sunny,
- 26:45Speaker 1: And I have no idea how we undo that. I
- 26:47Speaker 1: really just like I I enjoy the weirdness of it.
- 26:53Speaker 1: I'll say that the animation, the way that it shows
- 26:57Speaker 1: things changing, I wonder what it's like as an animator
- 27:02Speaker 1: to be working with different versions of characters that you're
- 27:06Speaker 1: familiar with. Like, I bet the people who animate this,
- 27:09Speaker 1: they could draw Chopper in their fucking sleep, you know,
- 27:12Speaker 1: and it wouldn't It would be like their eyes closed,
- 27:15Speaker 1: you would see a perfectly rendered Chopper. But do they
- 27:20Speaker 1: enjoy when things get shaken up like this and they
- 27:23Speaker 1: have to make Chopper look so different or is it
- 27:25Speaker 1: a pain because they've got to do something that's not
- 27:29Speaker 1: natural to them, you know? Anyway? All right, So the
- 27:36Speaker 1: whole thing with Zoro, this is another one that definitely
- 27:40Speaker 1: feels hugely padded. So Zoro is arguing with this fairy,
- 27:47Speaker 1: and I Sarahim says, now, I want to see the
- 27:51Speaker 1: henchman henchman fruit its powers to create loyal henchmen for you.
- 27:55Speaker 1: I love it. I love the idea of that, like
- 27:58Speaker 1: because of the fact that it would be nice to
- 28:00Speaker 1: have henchmen, but also the idea that, like, you do
- 28:05Speaker 1: kind of need an unlimited supply of henchmen if you're
- 28:07Speaker 1: a bad enough person who just sends guys in to die,
- 28:10Speaker 1: you know, that's like an unlimited resource and that would
- 28:14Speaker 1: be pretty helpful. I have to imagine. I guess it
- 28:17Speaker 1: depends on how much you have to retrain your henchmen
- 28:20Speaker 1: when you make a new one, because that training period
- 28:23Speaker 1: that's tough. You could maybe produce a bunch of them
- 28:26Speaker 1: and have like an orientation class and then build dorms
- 28:30Speaker 1: and have some of the henchmen just hang out in
- 28:32Speaker 1: the dorms while the other henchmen go off and do
- 28:34Speaker 1: their thing, and then once those die, you pull the
- 28:37Speaker 1: ones from the dorms and have them go back on duty.
- 28:41Speaker 1: I like this idea. I'm here for it, Okay. So anyway,
- 28:46Speaker 1: Zorro's got this fairy and I'm sorry, guys, I've forgotten
- 28:52Speaker 1: her name because we saw it and it was something
- 28:55Speaker 1: very unusual, so I can't remember what it was. But
- 28:58Speaker 1: she is very frustrated, as anybody would be, with the
- 29:04Speaker 1: fact that Zoro doesn't know directions at all, and it's
- 29:09Speaker 1: such a it's such a weird like issue to give
- 29:15Speaker 1: to him. And it makes sense when you stop and consider, like, well,
- 29:19Speaker 1: we have to get Loofy out of the main fight, right,
- 29:23Speaker 1: so we always have to come up with something that
- 29:25Speaker 1: sidelines him in some particular way. But Zorro is also
- 29:30Speaker 1: such a competent, valuable fighter, that we have to give
- 29:35Speaker 1: him a kind of flaw that often keeps him from
- 29:38Speaker 1: getting to the place where he can help, and that
- 29:42Speaker 1: is it's excruciating to watch sometimes because if he arrived
- 29:49Speaker 1: in time, the story couldn't happen, you know, things would
- 29:52Speaker 1: be over too fast. So he's running around in the
- 29:57Speaker 1: wrong direction, even though this girl is telling him go left,
- 30:02Speaker 1: and he's turning right. And I just want to say,
- 30:08Speaker 1: when I was a kid, I don't know if it
- 30:12Speaker 1: was a language barrier issue. It may have been my father.
- 30:20Speaker 1: You know the old chestnut about how men don't want
- 30:23Speaker 1: to stop for directions, And there's a reason that it's
- 30:28Speaker 1: a stereotype, and it's because a lot of men don't
- 30:30Speaker 1: want to admit the fact that they don't that they're
- 30:32Speaker 1: not in total command of what's going on at a
- 30:34Speaker 1: given time, especially when it has to do with like travel,
- 30:39Speaker 1: anything with a car. Dudes feel very strongly on it
- 30:42Speaker 1: that that is their domain and that they should always
- 30:45Speaker 1: like know what's happening. And so my father, he did
- 30:49Speaker 1: not like listening to directions, and there was also definitely
- 30:53Speaker 1: a misogynist streak in him. And so when it was
- 30:55Speaker 1: me or my mother trying to tell him where to go.
- 30:58Speaker 1: It was like he was more resistant to that. And
- 31:02Speaker 1: there was an interesting meme a couple of years ago
- 31:06Speaker 1: that came up in my memories recently, and it was
- 31:08Speaker 1: advice from a woman who was talking to one of
- 31:12Speaker 1: her male friends and trying to explain to him how
- 31:16Speaker 1: much opposition women encounter from men all the time over
- 31:20Speaker 1: very silly little things. And she said, pay attention to
- 31:25Speaker 1: whether your first instinct anytime a woman tells you something
- 31:29Speaker 1: is to argue with her or disagree with her or
- 31:32Speaker 1: dismiss what she's saying. And she said this, and he
- 31:38Speaker 1: apparently after like this conversation, he texted her like a
- 31:42Speaker 1: day later and was just like, holy shit, because he
- 31:45Speaker 1: began to see it in himself that he does do that.
- 31:48Speaker 1: And this is a guy who's like somewhat aware and
- 31:50Speaker 1: wants to be better, and he realized he still does this.
- 31:53Speaker 1: And I've talked this phenomenon over with a lot of
- 31:56Speaker 1: women and with my mother, because it's something that I
- 32:00Speaker 1: have seen in every relationship I have ever been in.
- 32:03Speaker 1: I always see, like a dude that I am giving
- 32:09Speaker 1: perfectly good, solid advice that I know they know is correct,
- 32:14Speaker 1: ignoring it, and it seems like for no other reason
- 32:17Speaker 1: than the fact that I told them this is what
- 32:20Speaker 1: they should do, and they're too petulant to just do
- 32:23Speaker 1: that thing. So then you get into this territory where
- 32:27Speaker 1: you have to like pretend that it's their idea and
- 32:31Speaker 1: like coddle them in such a way that they don't
- 32:34Speaker 1: think they're being bossed around. And it's really really pathetic.
- 32:39Speaker 1: And you know, I'll say this, I am somebody who
- 32:41Speaker 1: can be extremely contrarian, so I understand the urge whenever
- 32:45Speaker 1: somebody tells you to do something to just do the opposite,
- 32:48Speaker 1: and I know what that's like. But it's more than that.
- 32:52Speaker 1: You know, this is definitely just based on not trusting
- 32:56Speaker 1: women and not believing what they're saying and thinking that
- 32:58Speaker 1: they don't have judgment that can determine whether certain thing
- 33:01Speaker 1: is true or you know what I'm saying. So anyway,
- 33:05Speaker 1: all this to say, when I was younger and I
- 33:08Speaker 1: was on a road trip with my parents, I was
- 33:11Speaker 1: in the back car and my mom was looking at
- 33:14Speaker 1: a map trying to explain to my father which turn
- 33:16Speaker 1: to take. She literally said go right and gestured to
- 33:21Speaker 1: the right as she said it, and he said what
- 33:25Speaker 1: go left and turned left as she and I started
- 33:28Speaker 1: yelling at him, no, no, no, turn right. So this
- 33:32Speaker 1: whole thing with Zorro and like ignoring her instructions and
- 33:36Speaker 1: going the exact wrong way feels absurd. But then I
- 33:40Speaker 1: think about that moment and how it was, Like I
- 33:44Speaker 1: give the benefit of the doubt that it might have
- 33:46Speaker 1: been a language barrier thing, except for the fact that
- 33:48Speaker 1: I remember her gesturing, because you can sort of automatically
- 33:51Speaker 1: do that when you're reading a map and trying to
- 33:53Speaker 1: show to somebody, And I have difficulty understanding how this
- 33:58Speaker 1: man could do this. So actually, with Zorro, it's somewhat
- 34:04Speaker 1: believable this dude, and Seraphim is correct Sarahim says she
- 34:09Speaker 1: needs to stop telling him where to go and just
- 34:11Speaker 1: sit on his head pulling a rattui. And I was
- 34:15Speaker 1: thinking that same exact thing, like Kent, is there a
- 34:18Speaker 1: way that you can just use reins in some way
- 34:21Speaker 1: to direct him, because obviously speaking isn't doing the trick.
- 34:26Speaker 1: I feel like what would be ideal if it weren't
- 34:29Speaker 1: for the fact that the fairy is injured, would be
- 34:32Speaker 1: to steal one of his swords and run off in
- 34:34Speaker 1: the correct direction, but obviously the whole point of this
- 34:37Speaker 1: is that she can't run, so eventually, like after he
- 34:42Speaker 1: goes the wrong way again, she kind of freaks out
- 34:46Speaker 1: on him and starts yelling about how all of this
- 34:49Speaker 1: is your fault, which it's not entirely fair, but also
- 34:54Speaker 1: the fact that they are running this late for whatever
- 34:57Speaker 1: it is his fault because he is so bad at this.
- 35:00Speaker 1: So he drops her off and like puts her in
- 35:03Speaker 1: a kind of weird plant on the side of the
- 35:08Speaker 1: road where she's like hiding, and he starts to go
- 35:12Speaker 1: off by himself, but then like a second later, he's
- 35:16Speaker 1: standing in front of her again because you just literally
- 35:18Speaker 1: went in a huge circle, which actually I found to
- 35:21Speaker 1: be kind of a funny joke that like he puts
- 35:24Speaker 1: her down, she's despondent, like, oh no, I've been abandoned,
- 35:28Speaker 1: and then like all she had to do was wait
- 35:29Speaker 1: a couple of minutes and he just turns back up
- 35:31Speaker 1: again by accident. So she apologizes to him for yelling,
- 35:38Speaker 1: And this is, you know, moments where I realize how
- 35:40Speaker 1: petty I can be. She wasn't wrong in large part,
- 35:45Speaker 1: and I just feel like she did not need to apologize,
- 35:49Speaker 1: but clearly he disagrees because then she says, like, help
- 35:53Speaker 1: me please, and he says, well, since you ask so
- 35:56Speaker 1: nice and picks her up again. I'm very curious, like,
- 36:03Speaker 1: once they arrive at their destination exactly how the vibe
- 36:06Speaker 1: between her and Zoro is going to be because him
- 36:09Speaker 1: seeing her crushing asphalt in front of him, it feels
- 36:13Speaker 1: like he was pretty damn impressed by what she was
- 36:15Speaker 1: able to do. And I'm wondering about like her fighting
- 36:20Speaker 1: ability with this injury, if she's even going to be
- 36:22Speaker 1: able to fight, or if she'll be sort of like sidelined,
- 36:26Speaker 1: And then we're gonna have like a very strong male
- 36:28Speaker 1: character male fairy turn up. I really kind of hope not,
- 36:33Speaker 1: because women in this universe get so few chances to
- 36:37Speaker 1: be like real badasses. But uh, we'll see. I'm gonna
- 36:41Speaker 1: handle myself a little on that, so excuse me. Sorry,
- 36:46Speaker 1: guys again, I'm trying to jump around here. I'm gonna
- 36:51Speaker 1: talk about what's going on with uh with Law and
- 36:56Speaker 1: Do Flamingo and uh, what is the guy's name? I
- 37:02Speaker 1: keep wanting to say, I Toro, and I feel like
- 37:04Speaker 1: I'm like close but not quite there. This it's the
- 37:09Speaker 1: blind man with the scars across his eyes, and he
- 37:16Speaker 1: talking about Fuji Torah, thank you saraph him. I was like,
- 37:19Speaker 1: weirdly close. This dude is choosing to attack because he's
- 37:32Speaker 1: trying to determine whether or not the situation between Law
- 37:38Speaker 1: and the One Piece crew the Straw Hats is that
- 37:44Speaker 1: of like allies or whether or not they are working
- 37:47Speaker 1: for him. And apparently, and this was a little bit
- 37:56Speaker 1: confusing for me, but apparently he's in more trouble if
- 38:02Speaker 1: they are allies then if they are under his command,
- 38:08Speaker 1: because I think the gig is here that if he
- 38:12Speaker 1: were commanding them, then he could be excused based on
- 38:16Speaker 1: whatever position it is that he holds somehow, But if
- 38:20Speaker 1: it turns out they're working together, then he is like
- 38:23Speaker 1: allying with an enemy. And correct me if I'm wrong,
- 38:27Speaker 1: because I watched this because I had to postpone this recording.
- 38:31Speaker 1: I watched these episodes twice, and both times I felt
- 38:35Speaker 1: like I wasn't really understanding the distinction here. But whatever
- 38:40Speaker 1: the case, apparently the only thing that Fuji Tora needs
- 38:47Speaker 1: is like his word. He's not looking for proof. He
- 38:50Speaker 1: just wants Trafalgar to say what's true. And he'll go
- 38:57Speaker 1: with it, which understandably, Caesar is very much like, are
- 39:00Speaker 1: you serious, Like how does that work? And so what
- 39:06Speaker 1: he says he chooses whichever one is the like going
- 39:10Speaker 1: to be the most difficult. So he decides that he's
- 39:18Speaker 1: going to attack Law and arrest him. But what he
- 39:25Speaker 1: chooses is his is this power that's basically like a
- 39:29Speaker 1: meteor that is coming from the heavens now. He does
- 39:35Speaker 1: this two times, and I am still unsure why our
- 39:43Speaker 1: guys are still sort of standing on these little spires
- 39:46Speaker 1: of rock, because they, like the meteor comes down, and
- 39:51Speaker 1: I know at least one of these times, Law uses
- 39:55Speaker 1: that room power and he manages to make a dome
- 39:59Speaker 1: and slice the thing apart, and so it flies in
- 40:02Speaker 1: different directions and they don't get nailed with it, but
- 40:08Speaker 1: they are standing in like a crater, him and do
- 40:11Speaker 1: Flamingo looking over at Fujira, and they are standing on
- 40:17Speaker 1: these spires of rock sticking up from the bottom of
- 40:20Speaker 1: the crater that are just wide enough for their like
- 40:24Speaker 1: two feet to stand. And it was kind of another
- 40:31Speaker 1: example of like the power where I'm like, wait, how
- 40:35Speaker 1: does this how is this so impressive looking? But okay,
- 40:38Speaker 1: so Saraphim says, each one used their power to protect themselves,
- 40:42Speaker 1: so that's all that it managed to protect their exact bodies,
- 40:46Speaker 1: but anything beyond that tiny little spot was obliterated. I
- 40:51Speaker 1: get it. And the way that law justifies Fuji Torah
- 40:58Speaker 1: using this ability right now is like, well, the guy
- 41:02Speaker 1: is blind, so no matter what, he won't miss. It's
- 41:07Speaker 1: sort of like just that he's blind, he has to
- 41:11Speaker 1: do a big sweeping attack to make sure he hits
- 41:14Speaker 1: the target because he can't really tell, which I feel
- 41:19Speaker 1: like is probably not a guy that you want as
- 41:23Speaker 1: an admiral if he's going to be this undiscerning in
- 41:30Speaker 1: his attacks. You know, like if this were a different situation,
- 41:34Speaker 1: there could have been like a crowd of innocent bystanders.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Even his own men have to go running for cover
- 41:41Speaker 1: because this thing is like coming heading towards them, and
- 41:43Speaker 1: like I said, it is a meteor. It is humongous,
- 41:47Speaker 1: and it is gathering velocity as it comes down. Like
- 41:50Speaker 1: this is no joke. So it was just a bizarre
- 41:55Speaker 1: thing A couple times with him because I was like,
- 41:57Speaker 1: I don't really see why. Your power is huge and impressive,
- 42:04Speaker 1: but it feels like if you are willing to be
- 42:06Speaker 1: this irresponsible about it. That's not speaking much for your character,
- 42:13Speaker 1: do Flamingo says a couple times, like when he first
- 42:16Speaker 1: pulls out this meteor, Do Flamingo literally says like, don't
- 42:19Speaker 1: you think that's a little overkill? And I was like, yeah,
- 42:21Speaker 1: thank you. Actually I don't like to be over here
- 42:24Speaker 1: agreeing with you, but yes, so that whole thing because like,
- 42:31Speaker 1: of how earthshaking this is in a very literal sense.
- 42:35Speaker 1: When we go back to the little underground world of
- 42:39Speaker 1: the fairy people, they're actually seeing the place shake and
- 42:44Speaker 1: tremble and like rock rolling down and dust and whatnot.
- 42:49Speaker 1: And we get to find out some of what's going
- 42:51Speaker 1: on with the uh the story that USAP came up
- 42:59Speaker 1: with that makes them think that USOP is their hero.
- 43:03Speaker 1: I had thought that it was about Loofy, that there
- 43:06Speaker 1: was something there, but it turns out that that story
- 43:11Speaker 1: that we got to read and then meet the guy
- 43:14Speaker 1: like hundreds of episodes ago now at this point and
- 43:20Speaker 1: I can't remember his name, but it was that story
- 43:22Speaker 1: book and he's got that weird like chestnut shaped thing
- 43:25Speaker 1: on his head. He is like he had been really
- 43:31Speaker 1: helpful to these little people, and it seems like he
- 43:36Speaker 1: was a botanist or something and so assisted with whatever
- 43:39Speaker 1: was going on with the health of the island and Nolan,
- 43:44Speaker 1: thank you Florian, And we don't get a lot of specifics.
- 43:50Speaker 1: It's just basically like he saved us and helped us
- 43:53Speaker 1: so much and we owe him big time. And so
- 43:58Speaker 1: what Usop has tried to convince them is that he's
- 44:03Speaker 1: like related to the guy or friends with him because
- 44:07Speaker 1: of the helmet that he is wearing being shaped in
- 44:09Speaker 1: a similar way, and they buy it, I think maybe
- 44:14Speaker 1: just because he says I mean it, which we still
- 44:18Speaker 1: really haven't gotten any like specifics about that, and so
- 44:23Speaker 1: they are treating both him and Robin like gods and
- 44:30Speaker 1: feeding them really well. Robin kind of tries to yell
- 44:33Speaker 1: at us Up a little bit and calls him shameless
- 44:36Speaker 1: for this whole thing, but Usup seems very unbothered by
- 44:39Speaker 1: it and is just like, you got free because of
- 44:43Speaker 1: what I said, So I don't really think that you
- 44:45Speaker 1: need to be complaining about it. The Tamtata just extremely gullible,
- 44:51Speaker 1: says Seraphim. Yeah. The the thing that the fairy with
- 45:00Speaker 1: Zoro is saying is like, you know, well, I need
- 45:04Speaker 1: to get back to them and turn in time for
- 45:07Speaker 1: the fight with Do Flamingo. And here all of these
- 45:13Speaker 1: fairies are talking with each other about how fortuitous it
- 45:17Speaker 1: is that Usup turned up at this point, because he
- 45:21Speaker 1: is clearly being sent by like the spirit of Noland,
- 45:28Speaker 1: Like you know, greater forces are at play here that
- 45:32Speaker 1: have ensured that they are going to be fighting by
- 45:37Speaker 1: the side of somebody really important that will help turn
- 45:41Speaker 1: the tide. And I felt a little bit like I
- 45:46Speaker 1: felt a little bad that they got fooled, but I
- 45:48Speaker 1: also felt like it can't hurt, right, And just because
- 45:53Speaker 1: our guys are going to be fighting Do Flamingo for
- 45:55Speaker 1: another reason, entirely, they'll still be fighting him, So oos
- 46:01Speaker 1: Up is going to be able probably to like keep
- 46:04Speaker 1: up his end of this deal that they think they've
- 46:07Speaker 1: got going with him without too much trouble, I bet.
- 46:11Speaker 1: And I'm just sort of excited because I the fact
- 46:18Speaker 1: you guys I said this last time, but anytime that
- 46:21Speaker 1: you have got like underdogs that are just really not
- 46:25Speaker 1: being seen as a threat and they are like mobilizing
- 46:30Speaker 1: to do some shit, I always just find it extremely satisfying.
- 46:34Speaker 1: So I am looking forward to seeing how this works. Oh,
- 46:40Speaker 1: and you know, there's this this other story that's going on,
- 46:45Speaker 1: you guys. The one thing that I'll say about the
- 46:49Speaker 1: fight in the coliseum that grabbed me this time. I'm
- 46:51Speaker 1: sure you guys gonna all predict what this is going
- 46:54Speaker 1: to be. One it's the fact that Loufy befriends the bull.
- 46:59Speaker 1: There's this bull that is fighting, and I always feel
- 47:03Speaker 1: really bad whenever in this universe and animal is forced
- 47:07Speaker 1: to be like mean, and Loofy doesn't even like beat
- 47:11Speaker 1: it into submission the way that he has done in
- 47:13Speaker 1: the past. He just kind of walks up to it
- 47:16Speaker 1: and seems like maybe he uses hockey and is like, hey,
- 47:18Speaker 1: let's be friends, and the bull is instantly on his side.
- 47:24Speaker 1: So I loved this, and I was so bummed out
- 47:28Speaker 1: when eventually the two of them get smashed by this giant.
- 47:32Speaker 1: And the giant, by the way, looks very much like
- 47:36Speaker 1: a doublewewwe guy from like the early two thousand's late nineties.
- 47:42Speaker 1: I can't remember the dude's name, but there is like
- 47:44Speaker 1: a really specific look to him that I was like,
- 47:49Speaker 1: this is somebody right, And everybody assumes that once Loofy
- 47:56Speaker 1: and the bull get crushed that that's a wrap, but
- 48:00Speaker 1: of course is able to recover. It does not seem
- 48:02Speaker 1: like the bull has but I'm sure he'll ultimately be fine,
- 48:06Speaker 1: but he has definitely been taken out of commission for
- 48:08Speaker 1: right now. And the other thing that I thought was
- 48:15Speaker 1: sort of interesting is Bellamy is being offered a chance
- 48:20Speaker 1: to get on Flamingo's good side by killing Lufy, and
- 48:26Speaker 1: he obviously is feeling a bit of a way about
- 48:29Speaker 1: Loofy lately and has sort of begun to like the
- 48:32Speaker 1: kid who was cheering for him on the sidelines. So
- 48:35Speaker 1: now that he is given this mission, he is really
- 48:39Speaker 1: really bummed out about it. And I'm always a fan
- 48:43Speaker 1: of this sort of thing as well, whenever there's like
- 48:46Speaker 1: a bad guy who seems to sort of turn a
- 48:48Speaker 1: corner and reevaluate the way that they have been doing things,
- 48:52Speaker 1: and then they are forced to do that shit again
- 48:57Speaker 1: when a part of them has begun to sort of
- 49:00Speaker 1: be like, you know what, I don't feel like I
- 49:02Speaker 1: don't feel like this is the move anymore. Actually, I'm
- 49:07Speaker 1: just interested to see what Bellamy does, because I am
- 49:12Speaker 1: really you guys know that I found Bellamy to be
- 49:17Speaker 1: like the most boring of the villains that Lufy had
- 49:20Speaker 1: gone up against At that point, I was not into him,
- 49:24Speaker 1: and I stand by that. But the way that they
- 49:27Speaker 1: have chosen to go with it here and have him
- 49:30Speaker 1: be like a little bit different about after everything that
- 49:33Speaker 1: he has been through and learning about some of the
- 49:35Speaker 1: things that Lufy had claimed that he laughed at. I
- 49:39Speaker 1: am feeling like they have won me back a little
- 49:44Speaker 1: bit on this guy. And I really can't predict what
- 49:47Speaker 1: he's going to do. I would like for him to
- 49:49Speaker 1: sort of pretend to carry out orders, but like give
- 49:55Speaker 1: Lufia a heads up and make it so that he
- 49:56Speaker 1: doesn't have to get hurt. I don't know, but yeah,
- 50:04Speaker 1: so that's going on with him, and uh, and then
- 50:06Speaker 1: there's fucking uh what is the name of the big
- 50:11Speaker 1: old man that is like so determined to kill Loofy?
- 50:14Speaker 1: So many dudes keep like going up to him and
- 50:16Speaker 1: thinking that they're going to be able to Hinjao that's
- 50:19Speaker 1: the name. They think they're going to be able to
- 50:21Speaker 1: handle this man. And I was like, what is the
- 50:24Speaker 1: deal with the This man has crushed so many folks already,
- 50:31Speaker 1: and you guys are not learning your lesson. And when
- 50:34Speaker 1: they try and challenge him, he just says that they're
- 50:37Speaker 1: basically brats who haven't earned the right to do that,
- 50:40Speaker 1: and I like that energy. Actually it's not even like,
- 50:44Speaker 1: of course I can beat you, it's more like, how
- 50:46Speaker 1: dare you even think that you have the right? Florian
- 50:51Speaker 1: says Bellamy was worse than Don Kreeg. Exclamation point question mark. Okay,
- 50:56Speaker 1: So here's the difference. When I say, like boring villain.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Dunk Kreeg was an interesting villain in a vacuum because
- 51:08Speaker 1: all the wild like body mod powers that he had
- 51:13Speaker 1: with all the guns and shit. So Bellamy is more
- 51:17Speaker 1: boring in his overall look. I think that was something
- 51:20Speaker 1: that I said at the time was that like he
- 51:23Speaker 1: kind of just looks like some guy. There's nothing particularly
- 51:28Speaker 1: outstanding about his outfit or his hair, or the way
- 51:32Speaker 1: his body is shaped or his face. So in a
- 51:36Speaker 1: lot of ways, he sort of blends in and doesn't
- 51:39Speaker 1: feel like he's going to be the threat that we
- 51:42Speaker 1: need to worry about, because the only thing that we
- 51:45Speaker 1: ever see that makes him feel like something was not
- 51:48Speaker 1: right with this guy is that like one eye will
- 51:51Speaker 1: be way bigger than the other. When he starts laughing,
- 51:53Speaker 1: he'll get like this distorted sort of freaky maniac looked
- 51:58Speaker 1: to his eyes, but overall he was kind of just
- 52:03Speaker 1: like he was very basic and don't Creek. It was
- 52:08Speaker 1: for me. Dun Kreek felt like somebody who had a
- 52:10Speaker 1: ton of potential and just the most boring thing was
- 52:16Speaker 1: done to him, you know, Saraphim says, I mean, duncin
- 52:22Speaker 1: Ju fought Garp. He's got more than enough reason to
- 52:25Speaker 1: talk smack to these youngsters. Well as I'm saying, like
- 52:27Speaker 1: I like it, and he's like just determined to crush loofy.
- 52:34Speaker 1: But so is Cavendish. Cavendish is off to the side
- 52:36Speaker 1: by the way, just like eating a steak. I'm not
- 52:39Speaker 1: really sure how this works for Cavendish, Like I thought
- 52:42Speaker 1: that he was part of this group that was going
- 52:44Speaker 1: to fight, but he's setting himself completely apart from it all.
- 52:48Speaker 1: So now I'm like, is that right? Is that what's happening?
- 52:51Speaker 1: Maybe he's part of a different block. And I also
- 52:56Speaker 1: love the fact that the man eater dude keeps trying
- 52:59Speaker 1: to steal so of his food and Cabinish keeps like
- 53:01Speaker 1: smacking his fork down, because that is also how I am.
- 53:05Speaker 1: When anybody tries to take my food, I do not
- 53:07Speaker 1: share you better get your own. I always offer some,
- 53:11Speaker 1: but you're out here just like trying to get off
- 53:14Speaker 1: of my plate. I don't think so I got exactly
- 53:16Speaker 1: the amount that I wanted and you don't get to
- 53:18Speaker 1: have any Saraphim says that he's in the next block. Okay,
- 53:24Speaker 1: so that's what's going on with him. I just want
- 53:27Speaker 1: to lay I'm just sort of going over things really
- 53:29Speaker 1: quick to make sure that I have got everything. Because Bartolomeo,
- 53:34Speaker 1: that's the name of the guy who's the man eater
- 53:40Speaker 1: the oh oh right. I wanted to talk about Rebecca
- 53:45Speaker 1: because there is a dude who gets really badly injured
- 53:49Speaker 1: and he's like the sort of medical team I guess
- 53:54Speaker 1: that is around him trying to help him. They are
- 54:00Speaker 1: being like, are you sure you're losing lots of blood?
- 54:02Speaker 1: And he says something like, do you realize that you
- 54:08Speaker 1: are sending people in to be killed horribly? Why do
- 54:13Speaker 1: you care if I'm okay or not? Like this is
- 54:16Speaker 1: really weird of you. And I liked that, actually, I
- 54:20Speaker 1: felt like that was a completely reasonable question. But uh,
- 54:25Speaker 1: there's a moment where he looks up and he sees
- 54:30Speaker 1: Rebecca and it seems like the two of them are related.
- 54:33Speaker 1: I don't know if she's his daughter, because like he
- 54:36Speaker 1: pictures her, it seems when she's very little, So that
- 54:39Speaker 1: was my assumption, and I don't know what the link
- 54:44Speaker 1: between the two of them is. But I've got to say,
- 54:51Speaker 1: this whole thing with Rebecca, my friends, what is it
- 54:57Speaker 1: that we are doing here? I cannot Everything that has
- 55:05Speaker 1: involved her has been like the worst part of the episode,
- 55:12Speaker 1: and I hate this for her. Like, you know, she
- 55:16Speaker 1: shows up when Lufy's in the same outfit as the
- 55:19Speaker 1: statue and then tells a story about this incredible gladiator
- 55:22Speaker 1: who killed all these people, but then ends it with like, well,
- 55:25Speaker 1: we don't actually know that's true. All of that is legend.
- 55:28Speaker 1: Nobody remembers him. And that was just very like what okay,
- 55:34Speaker 1: And then the thing with her and her like relationship
- 55:37Speaker 1: with the toy soldier, which is just very creepy to me,
- 55:42Speaker 1: and I don't get this at all. And then here
- 55:45Speaker 1: and it's just like her standing in this guy looking
- 55:48Speaker 1: at her with a sort of like oh my god,
- 55:50Speaker 1: it's you, you know, and I it just feels like
- 55:56Speaker 1: everything that she has done in the show has been
- 56:02Speaker 1: like just standing and being there, so that a male
- 56:08Speaker 1: character can like have a reaction or do or say something.
- 56:13Speaker 1: She does not feel like her own person at all.
- 56:16Speaker 1: She just feels like a catalyst for a bunch of
- 56:20Speaker 1: other shit to happen around her. And it is it's
- 56:27Speaker 1: just a really it's like already a shitty thing to
- 56:31Speaker 1: do to a female character, but then like put it
- 56:35Speaker 1: on top of the fucking outfit that he has her
- 56:37Speaker 1: trotting around in, and it is insulting. So I just
- 56:42Speaker 1: really I really like this particularly I hate and we're
- 56:47Speaker 1: gonna have to see how this goes, because you're gonna
- 56:50Speaker 1: have to do a lot to win me back over
- 56:51Speaker 1: for this chick. I just don't see it happening, but
- 56:56Speaker 1: you know, sometimes he does. Sometimes he manage to toWin
- 56:59Speaker 1: me back. We'll say, look what you done with Bellamy.
- 57:03Speaker 1: All right, everybody, but I'm gonna wrap this one up.
- 57:05Speaker 1: But thank you guys so much for hanging out with me,
- 57:07Speaker 1: and thank you for your patience and everything I'm rescheduling.
- 57:10Speaker 1: I appreciate it a lot, and I hope you all
- 57:12Speaker 1: are enjoying the coverage. And until next time to Blue motherfuckers.
- 57:44Speaker 1: That was an Unspoiled Network podcast
