Transcript
- 0:00Hello there, it's time for most things Kenobi.
- 0:04I prefer all things Kenobi, but I suppose that's not the Jedi
- 0:08way. As long as it's not all things
- 0:11Anakin. Hi everyone, welcome to another
- 0:26episode of Most Things Kenobi, a podcast about Obi Wan Kenobi and
- 0:29all things Star Wars. I'm your host, Lauren.
- 0:33And I'm your host, Leanne. And it's time to wrap up.
- 0:36Andor, I don't know about you. It really is.
- 0:39I'm exhausted from this recording schedule.
- 0:44Biweekly has become a lot easier on our very, yeah, busy lives,
- 0:49hasn't it I? Don't know how we used to do
- 0:52this every week. Oh my Lord.
- 0:54It's crazy. We were going at a pretty hard
- 0:56clip, but Andor alone is exhausting.
- 1:00Yeah. So.
- 1:00Oh. My God, I'm physically tired.
- 1:03I'm emotionally tired. I'm just spiritually tired.
- 1:06It's it's. I'm done.
- 1:09I'm Yeah. Well, so is Andor.
- 1:15I mean, so is Cassian, period. I mean, oh man, we we've been
- 1:24dying to record this episode since it aired.
- 1:28Yeah, we've been delayed a few times and now we're finally
- 1:31getting to. I'm so ready.
- 1:33It's going to be cathartic. I've been like talking to
- 1:36myself, walking around my house. I have so many feelings.
- 1:43I just had to talk to myself about it.
- 1:45I've talked to other people too, but it's it's not been enough.
- 1:49It's not the same. It's not the same.
- 1:51It's not, Yeah. Well, shall we?
- 1:54Yeah, so spoiler alert, of course.
- 1:57If spoiler, if you haven't watched what is it 1011 and 12
- 2:01of Andor Season 2, then turn back now.
- 2:04But let's launch into this bitch.
- 2:07Yeah, God. And with that being said, we
- 2:15have the the first episode, which in all seriousness,
- 2:21probably my favorite episode of the season.
- 2:23It was so. 10. So good it was I can.
- 2:27Pretty much say it was my favorite episode of the season.
- 2:30Yeah, I was on the edge of my seat, fully engaged the entire
- 2:35time. The amount of emotion in every
- 2:39piece of it. Yeah, Oh, my goodness.
- 2:42It was very complex emotion. I was watching some interviews
- 2:47with the actress who plays Clay, Elizabeth Delao, I think is her
- 2:52name. And oh, my gosh, she's a new
- 2:56actress. She's literally out of RADA, the
- 2:58British school for drama, just like right before she got cast
- 3:03in and or she just graduated drama school.
- 3:05This is her first thing really ever.
- 3:08Holy shit. Right.
- 3:10She's amazing. Congrats to Hersh.
- 3:12Kudos. Yeah, Tony Gilroy said they'd
- 3:15cast someone else and then they, those people got, you know, jobs
- 3:19somewhere else and they released them from their contract and
- 3:22then found Elizabeth. And he was like, we weren't
- 3:24really sure, you know, how she was going to be.
- 3:26And he's like, after Season 1, it was like, she's very skilled.
- 3:29So they wrote her a much bigger part in Season 2.
- 3:32And thank God, 'cause it was. So fantastic.
- 3:35She was she this this episode, I, I was moved from start to
- 3:43finish in so many ways and like angry emotions and sad
- 3:48desperate, you know, full of feeling emotions and just Oh my.
- 3:54God, yeah. So hands off to her acting
- 3:59abilities, which I had. No, you wouldn't.
- 4:01You couldn't have told me at the beginning that she was fresh out
- 4:05of acting school because she's really good.
- 4:09And it was really obvious in this episode.
- 4:13And I just have to say that I thought it was a very
- 4:18appropriate send off for a really complex, pivotal
- 4:22character like Lutheran. Especially the parting shot,
- 4:25which I mean, we'll get to. But like, I thought it was a
- 4:28very good way to say goodbye to him after all this.
- 4:35And then even the lingering pieces that followed in the the
- 4:39next two episodes, the mentioning of him, Lutheran is
- 4:42one of those characters. It's like, is he good?
- 4:45Is he bad? No, he's good.
- 4:48But no, he's not that good. His intent is good.
- 4:53Is it like, you know, and the way that what's his name?
- 4:58Skarsgard. Stellen Skarsgard.
- 5:00Stellen, excuse me, because there's like 15 of them.
- 5:02Stellen's performance, he's he's a he's like a top notch actor
- 5:06anyway, but his performance is just, it brought the nuances
- 5:11that that character required and I just hats off.
- 5:14Round of applause. Really.
- 5:16Truly, I didn't want to see him go, but we knew it was coming.
- 5:20You know the pain was coming. I think it's great that in his
- 5:26final episode, they did all the flashbacks, so you get and they
- 5:30Orient you to the character finally, this guy who's been
- 5:33like a mystery the entire time. I think that was a really good
- 5:37way of doing it. And Stellan was saying that he
- 5:39and Tony had had conversations really early on, and originally
- 5:43Tony had an idea that Stellan's family had been murdered while
- 5:46Luthan's family, Luthan's family had been murdered.
- 5:49And he was like on a revenge track.
- 5:52And what they ended up doing is making him a soldier, which they
- 5:56weren't 100% clear, but it seemed like he was in the Empire
- 6:02and that Clea is the one who wanted revenge.
- 6:05And Clea is the one who pushed Lutheran into being a
- 6:07revolutionary because she was very clear she and.
- 6:11Oh, it was very clear. They said this in the interview,
- 6:14too. They're like, she always knew
- 6:16that that's what she wanted, that she was ready to take
- 6:18action. And Lutheran was the one who was
- 6:20like, make sure you're sure and true sure.
- 6:26She was very sure. I mean, also, kudos to the young
- 6:29actress who played young Clay. Yeah.
- 6:33Wow, she was great. My jaw literally dropped when I
- 6:37realized what any of that was. Who was looking through.
- 6:41Yeah. Like the the slats in the.
- 6:45In the ship? In the ship, yeah.
- 6:47And like, she was that she was like a runaway.
- 6:51She was a not a captive. She was one of them that was
- 6:54being attacked. And then when they they said
- 6:57down the line, like, is this your daughter?
- 6:59Yeah. And I mean, she basically became
- 7:02that for him. Well, and he said, when it's
- 7:04convenient, we will be. Right when it works when it
- 7:08works. For us, when it fits us.
- 7:09And I saw Elizabeth give an interview saying that Clea never
- 7:14thought of him as her father, that she actually had a complex
- 7:19a bunch of we're like, we're just jumping all around.
- 7:21But like she said that basically when she kills Lutheran at the
- 7:25end, that she doesn't using the part of herself that hates him
- 7:30for what he did to her people. And she says she that's part of
- 7:34why she's always so prickly is because she still carries that
- 7:39pain that will always be between them.
- 7:41But she also did grow to love him in a way.
- 7:43And that's why you see the little soft moments between
- 7:46them. I mean, it's, it's such a fun,
- 7:48complex relationship. And now to go back and rewatch
- 7:51it in that context, I think will be really interesting.
- 7:54Totally. Well before any of this happens,
- 7:58the opening sequence is actually present day.
- 8:02It's not flashbacks of Lonnie reaching out to Luthan.
- 8:07Yeah, with the big information. That so we, if I understand this
- 8:15correctly, we have Lonnie to thank, yes, by way of Dedra,
- 8:23yes. 'Cause apparently he got like
- 8:24her passwords. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:27Wild. Yeah like such an interesting
- 8:31way to reveal it. My only complaint is that they
- 8:34left it to the last fucking second.
- 8:37I feel like this really needed more of a run up considering how
- 8:42complex Rogue One becomes. I don't believe that that all
- 8:44gets like falls into place in a 24 hour period but whatever
- 8:49that's fine. That's my only complaint with
- 8:51this is the timeline basically. But.
- 8:54Yeah, my God, I feel so bad for Lonnie.
- 8:57He is like this unsung hero who's been sweating his ass off
- 9:01trying to, like, pass information to the rebellion in
- 9:04the belly of the beast, like right in the center of of all
- 9:08the evil. And then that's.
- 9:10It. That's it.
- 9:11Lutheran kills him. Well, he had to have known.
- 9:18The minute, the minute Lonnie was like, where are we going?
- 9:21And Yavin, he says, Yavin, I was like, oh, he would not like he
- 9:26wouldn't tell him that if he meant to take him there.
- 9:28It's too risky. It's way too risky as.
- 9:31Soon as he said that, I was like, oh, Lonnie.
- 9:34He's dead. Yep, sweet summer child is back.
- 9:38Exactly. Which is sad because he did
- 9:41reveal he had a wife and a child and so of course they're left
- 9:44behind with all of this. And the way it was, the way it
- 9:48all played out, it the ISB didn't really catch on right
- 9:52away that it was Lonnie. Lonnie wasn't just murdered.
- 9:56You know, at first they kind of thought that's what happened.
- 9:58And then they realized, oh, he's been in Dedra's files.
- 10:02And it just becomes a very complex web very quickly in the
- 10:06ISB. I love it.
- 10:07It's really fun. I love the whole thing because
- 10:11this is exactly how the fucking Empire operates and we've been
- 10:14saying it since day one. You're only on top for a while
- 10:17and then somehow that system will eat you.
- 10:19It always does. You can't do everything
- 10:23correctly in their eyes. You're always going to have a
- 10:25misstep, and that misstep will always be used against you to
- 10:28get rid of you. Because the target is always
- 10:31moving, how are you ever supposed to hit it every single
- 10:34time? Please may I talk about
- 10:37something cinematography related really quick of.
- 10:39Course, my favorite part. I didn't catch it the first time
- 10:43I watched it because I was just so in the moment.
- 10:47The second time I watched it I said what the fuck is that shot?
- 10:51Holy shit. I did like pause it.
- 10:52What? So after Lonnie says you know he
- 10:55has the conversation with Lutheran, Lutheran leans in and
- 10:58he says tell me about the weapon.
- 11:00Then the next shot is Lutheran coming down the stairs.
- 11:04Like walking away from that scene and it is the most extreme
- 11:07Dutch angle I've ever seen. What is a Dutch angle?
- 11:12So Dutch angle is what you know, most of the time it's like a
- 11:15straight on shot. When it's Dutch angled, the the
- 11:19vertical lines are not parallel to the size of the frame.
- 11:24It's canted. So it'll, it'll like people
- 11:29won't stand upright, they'll be, it'll look like they're like
- 11:32tipped to the side a little bit. It's 'cause the camera is
- 11:35tipped, obviously not the person.
- 11:37If you watch this shot again, Lutheran is completely sideways.
- 11:41His body is parallel with the bottom of the frame and he's
- 11:45walking right to left across the screen even though he's going
- 11:50downstairs. Oh wow.
- 11:52It's nuts and it's. Awesome.
- 11:54I don't know if I have to go back and look.
- 11:58Yeah, because I I don't know that I would ever pick that out.
- 12:02It's. So interesting.
- 12:04So it's Dutch angle used to be Deutsch angle.
- 12:06Like it's a German. It's German Expressionism.
- 12:09And German expressionism happened after World War One,
- 12:12and it was the first time warfare was urban, It was
- 12:18mechanized, it was on a mass scale.
- 12:21Before that, it was all fought on battlefields, you know, with
- 12:24cannons and rifles and bayonets. Yeah, right.
- 12:26True, Yeah. Now they had mustard gas and you
- 12:29would breathe it in and die weeks later, you know, it was
- 12:32just like. Horror.
- 12:34So they started to use film to express that psychological
- 12:37horror. Making canted angles was one way
- 12:43to do. Sometimes they would even build
- 12:44sets, like the Cabinet of Doctor Caligari is really famous.
- 12:48All the sets are built crooked because that's crazy.
- 12:52It's to make you feel crazy. It's to make you feel terrified
- 12:55and unsettled. And like that's what a Dutch
- 12:58angle is for. It implies disorientation,
- 13:01unsteadiness, ominous foreshadowing, deeply disturbed
- 13:04mental states. All of the above for this
- 13:08moment. Lutheran finds out about the
- 13:10Death Star and they cut to a shot like that immediately,
- 13:14right? Like crazy.
- 13:15He must have been so off center from what he normally is
- 13:18feeling. And then by the time he gets to
- 13:20the bottom of the stairs, he's upright again.
- 13:22He's center in the frame. It's like it took that long for
- 13:24him to realize what he had to do.
- 13:26That's really cool. That's really cool.
- 13:28I have to go back and rewatch. It's so awesome.
- 13:31And this is like this, the subconscious dialogue of a
- 13:34movie, right? It's like, right, this character
- 13:37has just gotten the most frightening news he's probably
- 13:40ever heard and realized he's probably gonna die and makes his
- 13:45decision and knows exactly what he has to do after that.
- 13:47It's so cool, yes. And then there's the scene of
- 13:50him and Clay in the stairwell right after that.
- 13:53Yeah, yeah, yeah. And the fart like establishing
- 13:57shot is like jagged steps going up and it looks like they're in
- 14:02a mouth. It looks like teeth.
- 14:05Oh my God. Yeah.
- 14:06And then the. I need to go back and rewatch
- 14:08all. The stairwell.
- 14:11Of these parts. Yeah, I mean, it's very, it
- 14:14seems very deliberate in my opinion.
- 14:17But the the the well looks like a throat and the the stairs look
- 14:21like teeth. It's really cool.
- 14:24It's like. OK, I need to see it again.
- 14:26It's very. Cool.
- 14:27I I loved the the imagery. It was really powerful in these
- 14:31moments. And again, like if you're just
- 14:33swept up and you're, I didn't see it the first time.
- 14:35That's what I that's I didn't, I feel kind of like annoyed at
- 14:39myself that I'm that I missed it.
- 14:42But I'm such a feeler that I'm like, honed in on what the
- 14:45people. Yeah, the motion and.
- 14:48And there's a lot. There's a lot.
- 14:50There's a lot going on with this, with Luthan talking to
- 14:53Claya and telling her what she needs to do, which we find out
- 14:57in the flashbacks has always been yeah, like their thing.
- 15:00And like when I tell you to move, move.
- 15:03Yeah. And she gets that little smile
- 15:05on her face when he says it. Yeah, yeah.
- 15:07That was. I liked the way they introduced
- 15:10it without explaining it, and then they explained it later and
- 15:12I was like, oh, that was a really nice way of it really was
- 15:16putting those pieces together. I appreciated everything in this
- 15:20episode, as painful and like intense as it was her
- 15:24infiltration of that hospital. So smart and I and I actually
- 15:29love how they thought it was multiple people but no, it's
- 15:32just one clay. I know.
- 15:34And I kept thinking, I kept thinking how in Season 1, Luthen
- 15:38said. Build your exit on your way in.
- 15:39And it was like, Clay knows how to do that so well.
- 15:43She really did. I mean top to bottom and the
- 15:47little tools she had left in like the craziest hiding spots
- 15:52inside that safe house. You know, I wrote that it was
- 15:54like a squirrel hiding nuts in a tree.
- 15:56It was just. She really did like in the
- 15:58foundation in in the fucking walls in the smart though.
- 16:04Smart though. It was really smart.
- 16:06Yeah, she said she actually bought, the actress bought a
- 16:10kids radio set where you learn to, like, put a radio together
- 16:14so that she had, like, learned some skills about actually
- 16:17putting electronics together to do this part.
- 16:20Yeah. I thought that was a cool.
- 16:22It was good. It was good.
- 16:23Yeah. It was a very pivotal moment
- 16:25because, I mean, that's like her SOS going out.
- 16:29Yeah. And they don't.
- 16:31They don't. On the other side, they don't
- 16:32know if it is Luthan or who it is.
- 16:36Yeah, I mean, they thought it could have been a trap even.
- 16:39Yeah, really. Man, well, how did you feel
- 16:43during the the shot in the gallery when Dedra shows up
- 16:47while Luthan is there? Well, I knew the second he took
- 16:52out a knife that that was very purposeful and it wasn't going
- 16:56in. It wasn't going in her because
- 16:58he's too smart to try and kill an ISB agent.
- 17:01I didn't know that she was going to present any of this the way
- 17:06that she did. It was very tense and very
- 17:08awkward. And when they finally dropped
- 17:10the pretenses and said, I know exactly who you are and well,
- 17:13I've known who you are. No, no, no.
- 17:15You know, like I was like, OK, now we're getting to the meat of
- 17:19this. But I think I think the second
- 17:22that Lutheran saw she was at the door, he's like.
- 17:26This is it, Yeah, this is. This is it and.
- 17:29I and it was, I guess, Lana. Did was.
- 17:31Warn him. I guess I kind of forgot about.
- 17:33That right, right, but I mean like he went back and destroyed
- 17:38everything and the very we don't know that though, because we
- 17:42only see him pouring that metal acid looking thing onto the and
- 17:50and and it doesn't quite get the whole thing before Deidre shows
- 17:53up. And so in the background of all
- 17:56this, I'm like, please tell me that was destroyed.
- 17:59Please tell me like, please, because if he's like killing,
- 18:02trying to kill himself, you would think he he dotted all of
- 18:06his eyes before doing this. So I had to trust that.
- 18:10But like, the whole thing was so fucking tense and Deidre really
- 18:14thought she did something. She really thought she did
- 18:18something. Oh man, that for her character
- 18:21to to end up this way, because she started kind of with this
- 18:27whole aggressive and tenacious approach and it worked well for
- 18:33her and now it's getting her into serious trouble.
- 18:37Yeah, yeah. She was so good though this
- 18:40scene, she performed so well. Well, I have a lot to say about
- 18:44her character when we get to like later the later the latter
- 18:492 episodes. Excuse me, and and and.
- 18:52Lutheran didn't quite finish himself.
- 18:55I know the whole fear of like maybe he won't die, which is a
- 18:59terrible. Place to to be honestly, I knew
- 19:04that Clay made the decision. She has to go in and finish it
- 19:08because that's exactly what Lutheran would have expected her
- 19:10to do. He would have wanted it to be
- 19:12her, yeah. Totally.
- 19:13She has like nerves of steel. Like I said last episode, if I
- 19:17had half the nerve that this character had like, Oh my God, I
- 19:21could do anything. But she she just decided made it
- 19:25happen in a similar situation. That would be an extremely
- 19:29difficult decision to make. But I, I have to believe that
- 19:33Lutheran, she knew going in, Luther would accept no other
- 19:38move from her. Don't try to save them.
- 19:41Don't try to get him out of there.
- 19:42This has to be the way it's done.
- 19:44And honestly, when he does pass, he passes rather peacefully and
- 19:52you know, in bed, you know, in a way he got the last laugh on him
- 19:57because, you know, even though he was almost resuscitated back
- 20:02with all of their technology, he still had Clea.
- 20:05A terrible thing to be put on Clea.
- 20:08But if anyone was going to do it, she could do it.
- 20:11And she did. I mean, Oh my God, she she
- 20:15covered her tracks and then some.
- 20:18That hospital scene. Oh my God, that was better than
- 20:21some full on action movies that I've seen.
- 20:25Yes. Like in theaters?
- 20:27This felt more like spy. What's the word spycraft, which
- 20:33they kept saying Andor was gonna be a a, an espionage show and it
- 20:37kind of fell away from that. I feel like for a while this
- 20:41felt like it. This is her this sneaking in
- 20:44those those outfits looked like one step up from Narcena 5.
- 20:50Honest to God forms I thought that I thought but they had like
- 20:53what are they? Are all the nurses and doctors
- 20:55wearing socks? And Jelly sandals like the dude
- 20:59like they had. Jelly shoes.
- 21:00OK, that's what I thought and I'm just like what the fuck had
- 21:05Jelly shoes? They must.
- 21:07Not spill fluids ever on those floors if you have a Jelly shoe
- 21:11with socks so. Impractical.
- 21:14Oh my God. But honestly I kind of felt for
- 21:18like the old alien that she was like pushing along.
- 21:22Like that poor creature had no fucking idea what she was in the
- 21:24middle of. I felt so bad for her.
- 21:27She was. I was like, please don't let
- 21:28anything happen to her. You know that that was they use
- 21:31that same alien on Niyamos, Cassian walks by and it's
- 21:36sitting on the watch there and they in the elevator scene where
- 21:40she's sitting with the the alien in the elevator, the Niyamos mix
- 21:43is playing in the back. Oh my God.
- 21:47I don't know if. She's an icon.
- 21:49The same character but it's the same alien it though so.
- 21:53She's an icon, Whoever that bitch was, she's an icon.
- 21:59She's over in like she's over there playing pinochle with the
- 22:03rest of the the old, the old folks, It's key.
- 22:06While the rest of the hospital's getting blown up by ISP, an
- 22:09empire. And she's just like, what was
- 22:11that? I just feel for her, whoever she
- 22:13is kicking, I know her feet. You know, Oh my God, I really
- 22:19want the best for her. Whoever she is, I want the best
- 22:22for her. This is precious God.
- 22:25I feel like the the whole sequence where we first start to
- 22:29see the flashbacks of Lutheran, At first, like you, I was like,
- 22:32who is this? Because you only see their legs
- 22:34come in and sit down. Yeah.
- 22:36Right. No.
- 22:36And I realized it was Luther. I was like, oh, this is going to
- 22:39be really fucking cool. Which is so funny because the
- 22:41last episode I said we haven't had any flashbacks and you know.
- 22:43It's so funny. It's so funny because I thought
- 22:46of you and I'm like, oh, here we go.
- 22:48We getting flashback? They were perfect though.
- 22:52If any, if anything, in season 2 deserved a flashback.
- 22:56This was it, Yeah. Really.
- 22:58Yeah. For.
- 22:58Sure, it filled in so much in such a short amount of time.
- 23:02It was just really like. Yeah, it was so good.
- 23:06So I thought it was interesting about Lutheran because he was
- 23:09speaking another language. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:13So they like giving us his back story but still keeping part of
- 23:16him a secret from us, which is? Which I'm totally fine with.
- 23:20Yeah, it's really cool. This, the whole thing though,
- 23:23really reminded me of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
- 23:27Like what you're hearing in the background and how like they're,
- 23:30you could hear them saying like, oh, there's more down in the
- 23:33basement and stuff like that. Because I watched it with
- 23:35subtitles you could hear over his radio.
- 23:38Because obviously Tony Gilroy is trying to make a lot of
- 23:40references to World War 2. That's what it made me think of.
- 23:43So I was like, is he empire? Is he separatist?
- 23:49Is he Republican? What is he?
- 23:51I couldn't quite tell, honestly. Maybe that's part of the
- 23:54mystery, too. Yeah.
- 23:57It would make sense if he was on the other side and then
- 24:02converted to being a rebel because obviously whatever they
- 24:05were doing, he wanted it to stop because that's what he kept
- 24:07saying. And so make a stop, make a stop,
- 24:10make a stop, make a stop. So I, I have to believe that he
- 24:13wasn't comfortable with whatever, you know?
- 24:17Yeah, it was too horrific to live with, basically.
- 24:22Yeah, and then the little girl he found ended up kind of
- 24:26propelling him forward out of that and into whatever their
- 24:29future was together. Yeah.
- 24:31I wonder if he thought like, thought of it as like a bit of
- 24:34salvation, you know, to or like, yeah, I don't know, by saving
- 24:37her, he could somehow atone. Well he asked to make it stop
- 24:41and she was his out for that so. Yeah.
- 24:44He could make it stop by helping her and getting the fuck out of
- 24:47there. Whatever there is, like his
- 24:50assignment, his yeah rank, whatever, whoever he worked for,
- 24:54whatever that was. Yeah, yeah, he he had a another
- 24:59name too. His name.
- 25:00They called him Sergeant Lear. So yeah, which Lear is his is
- 25:06rail backwards Lutheran rail? Oh my fucking God.
- 25:11Isn't that I didn't catch? That either how stupid.
- 25:16I mean, how stupid am I that Oh my God damn there's a lot going
- 25:21on in these episodes. I didn't even catch it.
- 25:23I liked it without all these tidbits.
- 25:25I mean, I didn't even know. Like again, I watched him with
- 25:28subtitles. Without that I didn't know.
- 25:30They even said his name. I heard them say Sergeant
- 25:32something, but I didn't hear what they said.
- 25:34So it it took me a little bit of I was studying to figure it out.
- 25:40I guess I was more focused on the fact he was a Sergeant
- 25:43because I was like OK, now I know where he gets his tact
- 25:46from. Like the his his skill with
- 25:49getting all of this done. He's not just some dude, right?
- 25:53So takes one to no one situation.
- 25:55So and then he says we're Lutheran and Claya now to her.
- 26:02Yeah. And I was like.
- 26:04Oh, I wonder if her name is backwards too.
- 26:07Yeah, well, maybe. That would be weird.
- 26:11I don't think I could pronounce that.
- 26:13Clay a yah lock cheese. I'll just pass.
- 26:21That's a very Star Wars name, honestly.
- 26:23Yeah, probably pronounceable. I wanted to ask you, too.
- 26:28OK, So that part of the flashback where they're sitting
- 26:30at the nice little cafe and they're.
- 26:33Yeah, every flashback you notice they're dressed slightly nicer
- 26:35and nicer, you know? They're getting money from
- 26:38somewhere. Yeah, well, he's selling his
- 26:40antiques and making some money. Was that Naboo?
- 26:46It sure looked like it. I mean it, it sure fucking
- 26:49looked like it. I mean I don't know but it my
- 26:53first thought was are they on fucking the booth blowing shit
- 26:56up like right? It looked like that bridge that
- 26:58her Padme's funeral. Procession.
- 27:01The funeral bridge. Yeah, yeah.
- 27:03Which is fucking wild if you think about it.
- 27:06Yeah, that's, I mean. Like you're in Palpatine's
- 27:09backyard, literal backyard blowing shit up.
- 27:13Maybe you shouldn't be doing it, but I think it's ballsy.
- 27:15And if they were, I couldn't quite couldn't quite tell, but
- 27:19it sure the whole thing struck me as Oh God, I've seen this
- 27:23before. I've seen this bridge.
- 27:24I've seen this area. Right.
- 27:25It felt familiar. All the locations they felt that
- 27:29were so beautiful like this. The mountain town.
- 27:32Oh, I think that's in Spain. It was so beautiful.
- 27:37What great locations? Yeah, I know.
- 27:40I was thinking like, man, this would have been fun to to film
- 27:44here. So I guess what the the episode,
- 27:50I guess it just ends after she well, we haven't even talked
- 27:54about Dedra getting arrested. She gets arrested in this
- 27:58episode. Yeah, I can't.
- 28:00So I didn't. I don't have any notes.
- 28:02So I'm leaning on you again to kind of walk us through the
- 28:04timeline. OK, how far do we get with her
- 28:08arrest and her she goes? Does she get questioned in this
- 28:12episode? No, it's the beginning of the
- 28:14next episode. Because I got shit to say about.
- 28:18That let's just jump there, please, because that.
- 28:20Shall we? Was fucking awesome.
- 28:24Why? Why have we not been using Ben
- 28:26Mendelsohn more please guys he. Costs money.
- 28:33Hi, he is so fucking good. Ed's chronic.
- 28:37I can't get over how good that scene was.
- 28:40The framing of him standing behind her.
- 28:43How fucking unnerving. And his head wasn't in the shot.
- 28:46You didn't need to see his head in the shot, you already knew.
- 28:50I mean Oh my God, how unnerving the whole thing.
- 28:54And then he would when he gets down and gets in her face.
- 28:57Yes. And whoever writes his like
- 29:01sassy 1 liners in return of whatever she's saying, he has a
- 29:06better line to deliver back. And he makes good points.
- 29:10Everything she tried to say, he countered with something and he
- 29:15was right. Like, we can't worry about this
- 29:18and you need to tell me this and we need to cover this right now
- 29:21and all this. It was, so I was turned on.
- 29:26I'll just say it. It's hard not to be.
- 29:28It was very, very good. And his, his Cape was on point,
- 29:33pressed, ready to go as usual. But he, he was in no fucking
- 29:36mood. He was in no fucking mood.
- 29:38Yeah. And she should have known the
- 29:40second he stepped in that room, it was over.
- 29:42Shit done. I mean, it was done.
- 29:44She could hear the cameras turned off, and she was
- 29:46immediately afraid. Yeah, And then he stood behind.
- 29:50Do you know that? That's a fucking power move to
- 29:53stand behind someone. And he, Ben Mendelsohn, is not
- 29:55that tall. He's not that tall.
- 29:57Nobody. Dwarfed her and she is really
- 29:59tall. Yeah.
- 30:00And so the fact that they were able to get like the scaling so
- 30:04that he was imposing and she was diminutive, which her entire
- 30:09life she's been trying to be imposing, yes, and in control
- 30:14and all this stuff. And oh, such faith in the
- 30:17Empire. Dedra, how's that feeling for
- 30:20you? And you fell right into the trap
- 30:22they set. Perfectly, Yeah.
- 30:24Walked right into it and I. I right into it I.
- 30:27Feel like sorry for her on a level because since she was
- 30:31taken as a child she has been brainwashed her entire life but
- 30:35granted she believes it. But you know how much can you
- 30:39blame a person when they've been fed this since they were an
- 30:42infant? She didn't stand a chance but
- 30:45the I love how the framing of that cut Krenik off.
- 30:49Like basically right above his mouth or his nose.
- 30:52It's so dehumanizing. He has no humanity.
- 30:56You know, there's nothing to appeal to there.
- 30:58And I heard that that move where he pokes her on the top of the
- 31:02head. Oh I fucking loved every sick.
- 31:04I'm jumping in my chair. I loved that so much.
- 31:07Please poke me in the head. Credit please, I'm begging you.
- 31:12I want aggressively poked in the head like that.
- 31:15I'm sorry. I totally cut you off.
- 31:17I'm so sorry, Chill, I need to call myself okay?
- 31:23You've only ever seen you. Get this excited when Vader
- 31:26dragged a lady down a street. Amen, bitch, we're on.
- 31:30We're on a level below this. What is wrong with me?
- 31:36Don't answer that question. It's like my best friend Derek
- 31:42says the bad guys are more interesting and I have to agree.
- 31:45I have to agree. I mean, they definitely don't
- 31:48think they're bad guys and that's what like adds to the.
- 31:51Whole I know I love everything So what were you going to say?
- 31:54I'm so sorry. The poking.
- 31:55The head, he improved it. It was not in the script.
- 31:58That's Ben Mendez. That's even hotter.
- 32:01Oh shit, no. Shit, Leanne needs someone to
- 32:05throw a bucket of cold water on her right now.
- 32:09What did Deidre think? Imagine being Denise to be like
- 32:12what the fuck is he doing? Yeah, like her.
- 32:15Her reaction is genuine. She was just like, terrified.
- 32:19I actually, I wanted to know too, if when he grabs her by the
- 32:22head, if that was also improv because that, I mean, it's when
- 32:25chronic is in your personal space.
- 32:28It's very frightening. But also it's gonna be
- 32:31frightening. Awesome to watch.
- 32:33It isn't. It is if it's not real life.
- 32:35It was real life. It would be super.
- 32:36Obscurect. Yeah, totally.
- 32:38Very very very beside ourselves and panic attacking.
- 32:41But what I think is so funny about all this is how little he
- 32:46is on the grand totem pole. And we see it in Rogue One.
- 32:49He literally gets choked by Vader.
- 32:51Yes, I saw, I think Star Wars explained, did a whole picture
- 32:56of there's always a bigger fish. And it was Dedra all the way up
- 33:00to Emperor and everyone always, everyone on this list thinks
- 33:04they're the top fucking dog and there's always a mistake.
- 33:07Yeah, and. And The thing is, is the Empire
- 33:11gives you just enough leash, right?
- 33:13Yeah, just enough leash to hang yourself with.
- 33:16And that's what every single one of these fuckers have done.
- 33:19Yeah, with that goes to part of GAS too.
- 33:23Yeah. There is no one is safe.
- 33:26I know that whole exchange with particas and chronic is very
- 33:30interesting. God.
- 33:32Yeah, okay, We're not there yet. They're not there yet.
- 33:35No, it's so good. I love it.
- 33:40And then just one more thing when Dedra walks, like Chronic
- 33:44leaves her right, how her hair didn't just go poof after, like
- 33:49the nerves and her hair just cut, you know, like in a
- 33:52cartoon, like you lose all the hairpins and your hair just like
- 33:56puffs out. That's what I would have.
- 33:58So he goes out and he makes like a comment or two to whoever's
- 34:01out in the hallway and stuff. And then they just leave her
- 34:04like an afterthought. Fucking horrible.
- 34:07I love. It you can see him, he's being
- 34:08told that Lutheran is dead. Yeah.
- 34:11And he gets this look like a. Motherfucker, I know one more
- 34:16thing on the list. Yep.
- 34:18It's so good. Oh my God.
- 34:20I, I really feel like the whole time watching all of these three
- 34:26episodes, I kept thinking, this is what I've been waiting for.
- 34:31These dynamics, this kind of writing.
- 34:34I think it should have been been much more than three episodes.
- 34:38Well, it should have been in the last set of three.
- 34:41Whether it was somewhere in the middle, maybe the start it just.
- 34:44Introduces it in a little more and then we could have been it
- 34:48was the most enjoyable parts are the parts that are really
- 34:51reminiscent. I mean, to me some of the most
- 34:54enjoyable parts are reminiscent of Rogue 1A. 100%.
- 34:58It's rewarding to an audience that's already, you know, in
- 35:01love with that piece of work. So that's why I was like, really
- 35:06loving this. We're starting to see Chronic is
- 35:07now under pressure because his pilot, his Edu pilot has already
- 35:13defected to saw the rebellion doesn't know it yet, but they're
- 35:16about to learn about it, right? Because that's what Tivic is
- 35:19going to tell Cassian. And so Chronic is like
- 35:22desperately trying to scramble to close the the leak.
- 35:27And that's why he's suddenly at the ISB shithole headquarters,
- 35:32which has been really nice to all of us.
- 35:34Like, we think it's fancy. Chronic thinks it's a pile of
- 35:37garbage there. Well, shit.
- 35:39Half of them are dead or all of them have somehow found their
- 35:43way out, whether they're in prison or they're dead or
- 35:47they're they've been shifted somewhere else, like Oh my God.
- 35:52And. The the one guy I thought was
- 35:54gonna die is the only one who lived.
- 35:57The the guy was like balding who who told part of gas that
- 36:02they're waiting for you. He's the one I was like, after
- 36:04the last episode with Mon Mothma and he's on the radio and she
- 36:07gets away. I was like, well, that guy's
- 36:09gonna die and he's still there. He's the one that.
- 36:13He's the essentially, he's the Piet of of this.
- 36:17He, he really is. He is actually.
- 36:19That is, that is the the best. Yeah, analogy, truly.
- 36:24Oh my God. Does part of gas go in this
- 36:27episode or is it the third episode?
- 36:30It's good question. The third of these three.
- 36:33I think it's the third, yeah. OK.
- 36:36All right, I'll wait. Yeah, I think it is.
- 36:38Yeah, it's a great. All the scenes with him are a
- 36:42delight in them because he's such a good actor.
- 36:45Truly, truly. OK, So then Clay goes back to
- 36:49the safe house. She's back at the safe house.
- 36:51She's got her little little gadgets.
- 36:54She makes her radio and she starts radioing out and we
- 36:57assume it's like an SOS signal. And then we cut to Yavin.
- 37:02Right. And the card game, yeah.
- 37:05Like it looks like a like they described it as like a frat
- 37:11house where Melchi and K2 and Cassie and they're all living in
- 37:15this jungle villa. Here's.
- 37:19Here's the thing, what a brilliant way to just integrate
- 37:24K2 into like just every day he's slumped in that giant body of
- 37:31his. He's over that table up to his
- 37:36elbows and he's holding these cards and he's doing the Droid
- 37:39thing with the statistics and the, and the the probabilities
- 37:43and this that and the other thing and the eyeballs, the
- 37:46eyes. It's so comical to me.
- 37:50I remembered why he might be my favorite Droid because it's just
- 37:58brilliant how he went from this well and we see his power in
- 38:03this fucking episode. It's it's awesome.
- 38:06It's so. Great.
- 38:08Holy shit. So we OK, but I loved, I love
- 38:12the little the bro, the bro scene.
- 38:15K2's just trying to figure out human emotion, trying to figure
- 38:19out cards. There's some sassy back talk.
- 38:22I just, it was very cute. It was cute to see them kind of
- 38:25at ease for once. It's the first time in timeline
- 38:30basically that you see Cassie and laughing.
- 38:34It'll be the last time we see him laugh as well, right up
- 38:37until. When Kay slaps him in the face,
- 38:40then he he laughs. There, that's right, that.
- 38:43That's really just Diego laughing, but that's OK.
- 38:45I like that they left it in. Correct.
- 38:47Yeah. Wait, that wasn't that was an
- 38:48improv. Too right?
- 38:49It was, yes. OK, that's what I thought and
- 38:52they. Said that Diego laughing was
- 38:54actually him breaking character, but they liked it enough to
- 38:56leave it in. So yeah, I, I think, yeah, I
- 39:01know. I, I saw some somebody posted on
- 39:04Tumblr and I thought this was very funny that you know, that
- 39:07Vicks breaks up with Cassie and and he looks healthier and
- 39:10happier than he's ever looked before.
- 39:13I. Mean.
- 39:14I'm like, some relationships aren't good for you.
- 39:17Yeah, I was like, he, I don't know.
- 39:19Do you think they de aged him a little bit for these episodes?
- 39:23He looked very beautiful. I can never tell.
- 39:26Listen, I can never tell because they they got the hair and
- 39:30everything. This is the seamless transition
- 39:33to Rogue One. So it's got to look like he's
- 39:35younger. He was, how many years ago was
- 39:37that? Like almost 10.
- 39:39Yeah, it was close to it was 2016, so.
- 39:43Yeah, yeah, exactly. So like everyone ages, so I'm
- 39:46sure they had to like smooth it out a little bit.
- 39:48But I am the worst person to ask when it comes to like the trick
- 39:52of of de aging. It's kind of funny.
- 39:54I'm not good at. Because they have, I don't think
- 39:56they have been de aging him the whole show and then to do it in
- 39:59these last few episodes where he's actually older than he was
- 40:02in the earlier episodes, but de aging.
- 40:04So he looks like he's in Rogue. What I was like, this is getting
- 40:08a little out of hand. I didn't really notice it that
- 40:11much. I noticed that his hair was was
- 40:14different but at the same time I thought he looked super young
- 40:17when he was the fashion designer when he was posing as the
- 40:20fascist. So like, it really depends.
- 40:23He looked very, very beautiful. I was.
- 40:27I was here for it. We we know you're here for it.
- 40:31I mean, Diaboluna is not an unfortunate looking individual
- 40:36by any means. What a way to think that.
- 40:40Well, I'm trying to. What I'm trying to say is very
- 40:42handsome, so it'd be hard for them to fuck that up.
- 40:46Like, I mean, they're working and they didn't a really good
- 40:51palette to work with. Yeah, I don't know.
- 40:53He looks really good. I don't know.
- 40:54He looks, really. Look at your face.
- 40:56I know, I feel like I'm getting really.
- 40:58Sorry I. I feel very those are supposed.
- 41:02To be the depressing episodes. Damn.
- 41:05I'm here, I'm not. Do I have to come over there and
- 41:09aggressively poke you in the head?
- 41:11Now I need a cold bucket of water throwing on me.
- 41:14I'm I'm overheating. Jesus, oh God, thank you all for
- 41:19just bearing with us. What is Star Wars if not
- 41:27something beautiful to look at? So.
- 41:29Listen, I know there's chronic fans out there.
- 41:31In fact, my my friend Dan. Dan, he's a, he's a Ben
- 41:36Mendelsohn fan. So I don't want to, I don't want
- 41:38to hear it. I'm not.
- 41:39I'm not crazy. Diane, where are you?
- 41:40Diane, I know you out there. Yeah, Yep.
- 41:43Listen, we're all, we're all here for the chronic business.
- 41:47So. Yes, it's not enough chronic.
- 41:50Honestly, there was not enough chronic.
- 41:52There was not enough K2. There should have been at least
- 41:55three more episodes of both those characters.
- 41:58But. Honest to God the K2 moments we
- 42:00got were fantastic. I loved when he just it's so
- 42:05funny because of the way that Droid is shaped.
- 42:08It is, it is an unfortunate shape for a Droid.
- 42:12They're top heavy, they're lanky, they're hunched, you know
- 42:16what I mean? And they kind of they kind of
- 42:19stomp forward, you know, with like their arms don't move.
- 42:23So they look like Frankenstein and they're, you know.
- 42:26They're like deceptively agile. You think it's going to be
- 42:30lumbering, but it's really strong and terrifying.
- 42:34Very and that I I for a second I thought how I we know they're
- 42:39going to get out of that safe house When when Diego see what
- 42:43happened now when Cassian and his boy are are there trying to
- 42:50save Clay. See I'm all distracted now.
- 42:52I can't remember names, numbers, tell, whatever.
- 42:55Well, it takes his critics. Cape and Leanne can't remember
- 42:58anything. Cassian's hair and Cassian's
- 43:01hair. Cassian's hair and facial hair
- 43:04and facial structure and jackets.
- 43:07His jackets are the best jackets.
- 43:08Ever. These are all these are all the
- 43:10characters of Star Wars that are not recognized.
- 43:13Not enough hairs and jackets, The cloaks.
- 43:17Yeah. It's true.
- 43:19You know, we did an episode all about Obi Wan Kenobi's hair.
- 43:21We should do an episode about all the other great hair.
- 43:25No, what we should do is about all the capes in in Star Wars,
- 43:28because there are many good capes out there.
- 43:31It's. True.
- 43:32It's true. Can we?
- 43:32And we can do hair, thank you. Why not top to bottom hair down
- 43:37to the down to the cloak Jesus. We have derailed ourselves.
- 43:47Oh, my God, my face is so red. I'm so warm.
- 43:50All right, let's get back on track here.
- 43:53Where are we? Are we in the safe house?
- 43:56Yeah, I think so. Yeah.
- 43:57So on, Gavin. There we go.
- 43:59We're on Gavin. They got the message from Clay
- 44:02and then they're gonna go rescue.
- 44:05Her, well, Will got it, yes, and I think it was nice that Will
- 44:08kept the radio on. Yeah.
- 44:11Like he kept the signal open, Like these little pieces of
- 44:15Luthan are still working together, even though it's a
- 44:17much larger entity now. Yes, and it's against the rules
- 44:20for them to have outside radios and he's still kept it.
- 44:24Well, then there's the scene with Partigez, Chronic and Hert
- 44:28Hert HOERTE. However you say that guys.
- 44:32It's a difficult name. Hert.
- 44:36I don't know, but that was an interesting scene.
- 44:38Ben Mendelsohn was so good in that scene.
- 44:42So good. Oh my gosh.
- 44:43And he said something about the ever lengthening ISB death
- 44:47March. Yes, that was a really good way
- 44:50to phrase that. Yeah, honest to God.
- 44:53And part, I guess, just gets this look on his face like I
- 44:55might be on that March myself. Yeah, he was.
- 45:00He was. Yeah.
- 45:01Oh. My God.
- 45:01He's he. I feel like he's been around
- 45:04longer and you could see the fear in his eyes when the the
- 45:09takedown of the safe house goes wrong and he knows it.
- 45:13Yes, yeah. And I feel like even in the very
- 45:15first episode with Chronic, you kind of see, we're in dangerous
- 45:19territory here. And as they they start to go
- 45:22deeper and deeper into these covert operations that are
- 45:26actually for the Death Star, that it's more and more likely
- 45:30that all this shit is going to fall apart and they're going to
- 45:33get eaten up by the machine. And I feel like party guys kind
- 45:35of had a sense that that was coming.
- 45:38Yeah, I mean, he should have because it seems like he's been
- 45:41around longer. He's in he, he talks to Admiral
- 45:45Ularen, he talks to Ularen. So he's on a level where.
- 45:50And. The Emperor.
- 45:51So like he's kind of up there and he should, he should know.
- 45:55And that's why he knew enough to just kind of end it himself,
- 46:00because what they were about to do to him.
- 46:02Yeah. At least what's his name gave
- 46:05him the the the space to do it. And I actually thought, that's
- 46:09in another episode, isn't it? I'm jumping ahead.
- 46:11It is, but yeah, it was. It's like he respected part of
- 46:14gas enough to give him that moment to.
- 46:17He turned his back, faced the stormtroopers, and I like how it
- 46:21happened in the stormtroopers raise their guns and he just
- 46:23raised his hand and said no, yeah, it's fine.
- 46:26Give it a like he knew everyone, knew it was unspoken, and just
- 46:30let it happen. Yeah, right.
- 46:32Yeah, and you know, it's kind of interesting how many deaths in
- 46:36this show are off screen, which I think is why Luthan and Cyril
- 46:41are like so impactful because they're kind of the only ones
- 46:44that you see. Even Brasso it you don't see it.
- 46:48No. So yeah, but they did hide.
- 46:52They did hide the blood because we always say like, they just
- 46:54can't take blood, OnStar. Wars.
- 46:57But Lutheran, I didn't actually know if he did, like where he
- 47:01cut himself or stabbed himself or whatever he did.
- 47:05Like, it's not really visible or noticeable, especially on the
- 47:09table. I was looking at his throat.
- 47:11That's what he probably should have done.
- 47:13That's what. I know I you and I are such
- 47:16space twins. Oh my God.
- 47:17Isn't that isn't that crazy? Like I had the same I was like
- 47:21he would have died faster if he cut his femoral artery in his
- 47:25leg. I just think that maybe it was
- 47:27too much for Star. Wars.
- 47:28Yes, I think so. I was you.
- 47:31I was having this exact thought process earlier today, yeah.
- 47:35There we go. I was like it, OK, They had to
- 47:37make it, you know, something where there wasn't gallons of
- 47:41blood all over. Yeah, exactly because.
- 47:46Lutheran is smart enough, I think, to have done that, but he
- 47:49is Star Wars, so. I understood that.
- 47:53I understood what was going on, but.
- 47:55Plus it created all this tension and an excuse for Clea to go
- 47:59after him and it. Gave us badass Clea, which I am
- 48:03always here for and I'm I'm actually glad she made it.
- 48:06I am so. We can talk about that.
- 48:07We'll talk about that. Sorry.
- 48:10OK, so Kathy and Melchi and Kay are now getting ready and
- 48:15they're going to go see who this emergency signals from.
- 48:18They don't know it's from Clay, but right.
- 48:20It's kind of interesting because it is a bit of a throwback to
- 48:24Rogue One. When they get on the ship, they
- 48:26don't have permission to take off.
- 48:27And you could hear in the background someone saying you're
- 48:31not authorized to take this ship and that they need to stand
- 48:34down. And it's Tony Gilroy is the
- 48:36voice over the radio. I didn't know that.
- 48:39And it's Tony Gilroy in Rogue One who says you're not
- 48:43authorized Rogue One, There is no Rogue One, so he's playing
- 48:46the same character. Oh that's nice.
- 48:50Oh shit, I didn't notice that. Awesome, I thought that was
- 48:53cute, but can I just have a little gripe for a second?
- 48:58I have a lot of gripes, we just haven't gotten to them yet.
- 49:00I know I actually do too. I have quite a lot.
- 49:02Something about this timeline is really frustrating and like how
- 49:06Draven is pissed that Cassian keeps breaking protocol
- 49:10basically and like going against the rules.
- 49:14I have two complaints about this.
- 49:15First of all, in Rogue One, it's implied that when Cassian
- 49:18decides to not shoot Galen and when he decides to like go with
- 49:21Gin, he's basically going AWOL with Gin.
- 49:26That's a big decision for him to make because he is someone who
- 49:29follows the rules, right? So they've they've had him just
- 49:34breaking all the rules in Andor and not taking anything about
- 49:38the rebellion seriously. And it's completely out of
- 49:42character for who he is in Rogue One, which is now literally like
- 49:4624 hours away from this stuff that's happening.
- 49:50So I find that to be really incongruous writing and it's
- 49:53really frustrating. Also, they keep saying we have
- 49:58these rules in place because we're barely established as the
- 50:01rebellion and blah blah blah. A New Hope is taking place in
- 50:04about like 3 days from now. That's a very good point.
- 50:10And like, that's a very good. Point.
- 50:12They were. They gave the impression that
- 50:14they were established. You know this is true.
- 50:17This is true. They had protocol enough in
- 50:20place to like have battle plans when they get attacked by the
- 50:25Death Star and to leave and go find a new battle or a a a new
- 50:31base on Hoth. You know, I know the rebellion
- 50:35is still young, but it should be way more established than what
- 50:38they're implying here. And I find that really
- 50:41irritating because it's like, that was Canon and and that's
- 50:47been established since 1970. Something like this?
- 50:50Is correct. Yeah, I don't know, I found that
- 50:52kind of annoying. The timeline really did kind of
- 50:55fuck it up for me. You know, I had a lot of moments
- 50:59where I just scratched my head and I thought, I thought we
- 51:02already did this or had this or it was established or something.
- 51:08You know, they're just little things that it didn't quite line
- 51:11up. So I'm with you on that.
- 51:14They're like important most of the time I can be like, yeah,
- 51:17it's fine. But like this shit's like tied
- 51:20into all the rest of the the original trilogy.
- 51:24So I I feel like their job should have been to not change
- 51:29the perspective of Rogue One, but to like honor what was
- 51:33there. Yeah, I you have a round table
- 51:36full of figureheads that includes Bale or Ghana.
- 51:39And you're, you're not quite the rebellion yet.
- 51:41I think you're a rebellion. Right, exactly.
- 51:44You have a table of people that you're answering to that's not
- 51:48just some faction setting up in the woods.
- 51:52Right. And you have a chain of command
- 51:54and like, yes, Melchi's group was good enough to go into
- 51:59Wabani and take Jin out, yes. So they're not just a bunch of
- 52:03like new recruits with their heads up their ass.
- 52:06Exactly. They would have.
- 52:08Been that was what we got in the first set of episodes.
- 52:11Yeah, exactly. So it would it would be cool to
- 52:13see like the the progression from in inside, like internal
- 52:18fighting in the the young, young rebellion to we're now
- 52:21established. We have maybe.
- 52:23I mean, I guess there is some progression if you look at it at
- 52:26it that way. But to keep saying that, you
- 52:28know, it's still so young. I mean, Leia is a week away at
- 52:32this. Three days.
- 52:33How many days? I don't know.
- 52:34I. Can't remember days away cuz
- 52:36she's at the end of rows. This.
- 52:37Is it? Yeah, Yeah.
- 52:39Yeah, I think that they kind of messed the timeline up for sure.
- 52:43It's not matching up. In.
- 52:45Important ways? Yeah, exactly.
- 52:48Exactly, that's why I mentioned it.
- 52:50It's not petty, I think it was like a mistake, but.
- 52:55I do too. Anyway, thank you for letting me
- 52:57gripe on that so. I'm with you on that one.
- 53:00I am. So that's when they go, they go
- 53:02to, they go back to Corusan and they go to the safe house.
- 53:06I feel like all the stuff that happens here and like the
- 53:09interactions with Kay just really fed my soul.
- 53:13It did. It really did.
- 53:15It was everything that I had hoped for.
- 53:17If you see the beginning of Cassian and Kays relationship
- 53:20and it was it was fantastic. You can see where I and I kept
- 53:24thinking of this when Kay is in row one and he tells them to go
- 53:28and he does the final like shut down and the sparks are flying
- 53:31and he dies. Essentially why there was trust
- 53:35there between him and Cassian like always.
- 53:39And that timeline works because they had a whole year to
- 53:43establish that he's obviously quite comfortable with Cassian
- 53:46and his friends. Well, I mean, comfortable enough
- 53:49to argue over cards, but like, also comfortable enough to see
- 53:53that there's something amiss, know that Cassian is in there,
- 53:57and then to make a plan and go in and and like, quote, UN
- 54:02quote, save the day. But yeah, he took action where a
- 54:06lot of like, human characters might not have given the
- 54:10situation. So they clearly must have like
- 54:13an established like enough of an understanding of each other.
- 54:15Yes, see, and like, wouldn't that have been nice to get a
- 54:18whole another episode block where we see that happening?
- 54:22Yeah, like, I would have liked that for sure.
- 54:24The the part where he says he was at Corset once he was in a
- 54:29parade. During the parade.
- 54:35That was possibly my favorite line, except when he says I
- 54:39don't like it here. Nothing has ever been more
- 54:48relatable than K saying I don't like it here.
- 54:51Totally. I was in a parade once like, and
- 54:55I was wondering, was he there to kill people?
- 54:57Like was he there to like manhandle and and keep order?
- 55:01So it wasn't a jolly parade? Was he there to like, establish
- 55:04order like? Probably.
- 55:06Or it was like one of those like Hitler parades where they like
- 55:09show off all their, you know, weapons.
- 55:12Yeah, 200 KX units marching down the street.
- 55:18Like God. But even when he was like, when
- 55:23he's like, I don't like it here. And then they show him sitting
- 55:26in the chair and he just like flops back in the chair.
- 55:29That was so, that was so relatable.
- 55:32And then when the power like flickers and goes out and he
- 55:35goes oh, no, Oh no. And and there was a part of me
- 55:39that's like, would he, would a Droid actually have that much
- 55:42personality to say that and understand?
- 55:44But he would. Yeah, he would.
- 55:46I just, we've been, I think we've been missing the like we
- 55:50needed a break from the tension. Yeah.
- 55:53And K is it 100? Percent, but it's not hokey
- 55:57comedic relief. No, it's actually part of his
- 56:01fucking makeup. Yes, yes, only Alan could have
- 56:05portrayed it only perfectly. Oh God, it's so good.
- 56:09It's so good. Thank God.
- 56:12I'm so glad they brought it back.
- 56:13Brought K back because we we needed it.
- 56:17We did and and he he really showed up.
- 56:19I mean, I'm glad Clay made it out and she got to go back and I
- 56:23really thought it was interesting that she's there
- 56:27Cassie and says to her, don't you want to see what you helped
- 56:31create? Now I totally get she's loyal to
- 56:35this side and not what has grown.
- 56:37And like, if you leave this, then you're you're leaving it
- 56:41for good and you're becoming something out.
- 56:43Like, you know, the separation between what she's always known
- 56:47and then what is brand new. I totally get that.
- 56:50I totally get. But then I do appreciate the
- 56:53fact that like in the final shots she does seem to smile and
- 56:58appreciate and like oh if in my head she was saying like if
- 57:02Lutheran only knew and I'm sure he did.
- 57:05But he stayed behind for a reason.
- 57:08Mon was his extension. I know she seems she seems so
- 57:11lost after. I get it though.
- 57:14For so long she was in one role. That's what she did.
- 57:18She was excellent at it. And she just lost the person who
- 57:22was always with her, helping her and being a part of what they
- 57:26were doing and what they believed in so strongly.
- 57:28And now she's kind of adrift and she's injured, which makes
- 57:32everything worse. And amongst a bunch of
- 57:34strangers, who can she trust? Who can she not trust?
- 57:38Like to her, I would be, I would feel a little bit like cornered
- 57:42and overwhelmed. I totally understood all of
- 57:45those emotions. She displayed them.
- 57:46She like portrayed that whole thing.
- 57:49Florida. State.
- 57:50So let's move on to the last episode then, Like this.
- 57:53Yeah, because my God. That whole sequence of them
- 57:57facing off with those ISB soldiers in the in the I don't
- 58:03even know it was the safe house but they went to the wrong unit
- 58:07and the people were in a really nice looking condo.
- 58:10I'm like why is Lutheran's condo so shitty looking?
- 58:14Everyone else there seems true in a nice life.
- 58:17What the hell is that place look like crap for?
- 58:20It look like an abandoned tenement and the next floor.
- 58:23Up did it really did. It was shit hiding in the walls.
- 58:28Yeah, Can you imagine hearing people banging on the walls like
- 58:31that? You would have heard everything
- 58:33Clay was doing. City life.
- 58:37I know. Seriously, I don't miss it.
- 58:39But again, they were concrete walls.
- 58:41Maybe they didn't hear anything. Yeah, or maybe they have some
- 58:44sort of, you know, space noise cancelling.
- 58:48Yeah. Wall.
- 58:51Oh my God. So they they rescue Clea, they
- 58:54bring her back, and then we see Cassian, more like Cassian in
- 59:00Rogue One when he has to meet with the Count.
- 59:02It was great. It was totally great.
- 59:04When he speaks for Lutheran, basically like you have.
- 59:07I know him, I know the good and the bad, and I still chose to
- 59:11follow him like that. That was good.
- 59:14It was such a good speech and I again, it points out like
- 59:19Cassian, like never speaks in this show.
- 59:23Well, yeah, but. It's weird though, like I was
- 59:27telling Rebecca, she and I were talking about this and I was
- 59:30like, I feel like we know Clay better and Mon Mothma better.
- 59:35I know Lutheran better. We watched 24 episodes about
- 59:38Cassie and Andor and I feel like I don't know anything more about
- 59:41him. Like we I feel like there's more
- 59:45character showing in Rogue One, like little and it's Diego's
- 59:49performance. It's not even like, you know,
- 59:51explanation through his dialogue, although there is that
- 59:55he is warm in a way that he's not always in Andor and he's
- 1:00:01actually got like a smirk or like a laugh or sense of humor
- 1:00:05and that's missing in Andor. We get a sense of his internal
- 1:00:09struggle, like when he was thinking about shooting Galen,
- 1:00:12you can see him realizing that he can't do it.
- 1:00:16I feel like we don't see that. We don't get a lot of Cassian's
- 1:00:20internal monologue in this show, and the whole fucking show is
- 1:00:23supposed to be about how he became who he is.
- 1:00:26How? How's this possible?
- 1:00:30How is it possible, Leanne? How can I love and hate
- 1:00:33something so much? How could it be like so good and
- 1:00:36so right and so far off the mark at the same time?
- 1:00:39I don't even know how it's possible.
- 1:00:41This scene where he's talking to the council.
- 1:00:45I had a problem with this scene though.
- 1:00:47I did too. Oh, you did.
- 1:00:49Oh, I did. Like, I really loved Diego's
- 1:00:52performance. I thought what he said was cool.
- 1:00:54I thought the interaction with Draven was very telling because
- 1:00:56like Draven, I think really likes Cassian, but he has to
- 1:00:59maintain chain of command. So he's trying to like correct
- 1:01:02buffer, you know. Yep, Yep, Yep.
- 1:01:05So when Cassian is like, are you serious to that senator and
- 1:01:08he's. Like gives him the yeah, he's
- 1:01:09like, call it no, no, no. What is your gripe though?
- 1:01:15I bet we have the same one. Bail.
- 1:01:20We're not the only ones with this complaint, yeah.
- 1:01:23Is that so? And it's not the performance of
- 1:01:27the individual, it's the character deviation that I
- 1:01:30didn't quite, I didn't. It didn't sit right with me.
- 1:01:35Yes, it didn't sit right with me.
- 1:01:37And I'm not sure why they did this.
- 1:01:40The argumentative tone. Bale always heard out everyone
- 1:01:44and always heard out two sides and considered everything, every
- 1:01:49angle. That's what made Bale Bale.
- 1:01:52Yeah, just watch the Kenobi series the way he is so.
- 1:01:56That's what I'm saying. And sweet with his own daughter
- 1:01:59like. You had the argumentative other
- 1:02:02people in the circle. Which are they're so fucking
- 1:02:05exhausting, those people, my God.
- 1:02:08Truly. I mean, now I understand if you
- 1:02:14get told news of a Death Star, it's going to take some time.
- 1:02:21I mean, didn't somebody say that they need time?
- 1:02:24Yeah, and evidence, you know, they need to verify I.
- 1:02:28Totally get that. I totally get that.
- 1:02:30Because again, you don't know sources, how it's manipulated.
- 1:02:36You know, the information itself, whether it came from
- 1:02:38Lutheran or not, you should. You must always verify before
- 1:02:41you go make a big changes. Totally.
- 1:02:44Yeah, my problem is just with how aggressive Bale's character
- 1:02:49was with this. I felt it was not in character.
- 1:02:53I felt the same. It felt like you haven't read
- 1:02:56the book Wild Space, have you? I haven't.
- 1:02:59Should I? Yes.
- 1:03:02OK, no, did it. Yes you should and maybe if you
- 1:03:07don't want to read it, listen to the audio book.
- 1:03:09But it is OK. It's it'll probably it's the
- 1:03:13kind of 1 where it's like you love and hate it.
- 1:03:16Like it's so I see ridiculous. I can't believe some of the shit
- 1:03:19that happens in it. That's why I was like enjoying
- 1:03:22it. Bale is like this though the
- 1:03:24whole time. Is that so?
- 1:03:26Yeah, and everyone has said in Wild Space, he feels super out
- 1:03:30of character. He's fighting with Obi Wan
- 1:03:32constantly. What?
- 1:03:34Yeah. And it's, it's, it's very
- 1:03:37exhausting and it's nothing like how he is in Clone Wars or in
- 1:03:42any of the other portrayals of Bale.
- 1:03:45So I I felt the same. I was like, why is he being such
- 1:03:48a stick in the mud and he's not in charge?
- 1:03:50Fucking mud. Mothma was here first man like.
- 1:03:53It's true. However, it doesn't really line
- 1:03:58up with how he acts in Rogue One, where he's so ready to go.
- 1:04:03What changes in three or four days?
- 1:04:05Yeah, I don't know. I could see maybe in a year,
- 1:04:08let's just take devil's advocate route and say like, he's going
- 1:04:11through something, couldn't imagine what I mean, what could
- 1:04:17be anything, but maybe in a year he warms up to whatever the
- 1:04:23fuck. I don't know, I don't know.
- 1:04:24I I I'm I'm really struggling to find even something salvageable
- 1:04:28here but. Yeah, he kind of was like
- 1:04:31pontificating. He's like walking around like he
- 1:04:34was giving a speech at the Senate.
- 1:04:36This is not the place to do this.
- 1:04:38You can take the senator out of the Senate, but you can't take
- 1:04:41the Senate out of the senator. It's true.
- 1:04:44It's true. Can we talk about Mon's hair?
- 1:04:49Poor girl, she got jungle hair now.
- 1:04:51We we knew it was coming. We knew that haircut, that style
- 1:04:55was coming. She needs a good blowout and
- 1:04:58some humidity restriction in some kind of spray anti humidity
- 1:05:02spray in her hair. How are all of these women?
- 1:05:06They're frizz free. How my hair would look like a
- 1:05:10cotton puff if I was living. In a man I don't know.
- 1:05:17Good jeans? I don't know, but.
- 1:05:21I don't know, they all got lucky.
- 1:05:23Maybe there's something in Star Wars where you can put it on
- 1:05:25your hair and it repels humidity.
- 1:05:27But. Listen, listen to us.
- 1:05:28We keep making excuses for this shit.
- 1:05:35I want to. Can I go back to Bale one more
- 1:05:37second? Because he does go back to
- 1:05:39Cassian's Hut. Yeah.
- 1:05:42I thought that was more in character.
- 1:05:46Yes, I I did too. That was more diplomatic.
- 1:05:49And warm, and may the Force be with you.
- 1:05:51And it was very Bale, right? Yeah.
- 1:05:55So there I I had an an internal struggle the entire episode and
- 1:06:00I'm just going to let it go because I have much larger
- 1:06:02problems with other parts of this episode than Bale.
- 1:06:06But it's nice to know there are other people that felt the same
- 1:06:09way, including yourself. Oh, yeah, right away.
- 1:06:11I was like, this feels weird. Well, I've always had like a
- 1:06:14head cannon that Mon Mothma and Draven really like Cassian a
- 1:06:20lot. And it was kind of nice to see
- 1:06:22that that they they do. Of course Mon Mothma was going
- 1:06:26to draw Cassian's word after what he did for her, so.
- 1:06:29Amen. Yeah, as she should.
- 1:06:31As should everyone, in fact. Yeah, I'm glad to see that it
- 1:06:34like there were advocates in the room, even though Bill and
- 1:06:37everybody else, all the other senators were being what's so
- 1:06:41annoying. I like how Cassian was like
- 1:06:44permission to go to the whatever room, you know, and he was like
- 1:06:48real sarcastic about it. But Mom's like, granted, before
- 1:06:51anyone else could speak, you know, I was like, there we go.
- 1:06:54There we go, girl. Yes, that's awesome.
- 1:06:56I loved that too. It's.
- 1:06:58Great. Yep, Yep, she has the final say
- 1:07:01in this boardroom. Bitch.
- 1:07:03Seriously, she's the one who makes it all the way to Return
- 1:07:05of the Jedi. So let's.
- 1:07:06Yeah, let's. Give her the space.
- 1:07:08Yeah, exactly. So that everything kind of like
- 1:07:13slows down now. Tony Gilroy described it as
- 1:07:15quote delivering the pizza, which I thought was really
- 1:07:17annoying. What the fuck?
- 1:07:22It's like you just give everybody what they wanted at
- 1:07:24the end and then move into Rogue One and.
- 1:07:27He didn't do that, though. I know that did not happen.
- 1:07:30I know it's not. It's not the pizza I ordered.
- 1:07:33My pizza was not delivered, Tony.
- 1:07:37It was undercooked, in fact, and incorrect.
- 1:07:41Yeah. And then it had additional
- 1:07:42toppings that I didn't ask. For yeah, no, none of us ordered
- 1:07:45this. Yeah, weird pizza analogies
- 1:07:50coming out of. Yeah.
- 1:07:51Thanks, Tony. I did like the scene with
- 1:07:56Cassian and Val where they finally acknowledged like their
- 1:08:00shared history. They toasted.
- 1:08:02Oh, they toasted everyone. Yeah, I thought that was very
- 1:08:04nice. Nice way to wrap that up.
- 1:08:06And why does it always take someone else to mention Marva?
- 1:08:09Why does Cassia never mention Marva?
- 1:08:11Or Clem? Why or BI?
- 1:08:14Think he's just one of those closed.
- 1:08:17Those closed books where? Yeah.
- 1:08:20You know, don't acknowledge the pain and it won't be there.
- 1:08:22You know, he's, he's like one of those.
- 1:08:24That's how I gathered it, anyway.
- 1:08:26I'm very glad that somebody fucking mentioned Marva because
- 1:08:29she gave a speech that inspired insurrection.
- 1:08:33Like absolutely she deserves a mention.
- 1:08:36Brasso, our boy hit somebody over the head with her brick and
- 1:08:39I will never forget it. That was one of the best scenes
- 1:08:43in all of. Amazing, amazing, amazing.
- 1:08:46I love you Brasso. Forever and always.
- 1:08:49Then there's that really cool moment where they show Clea in
- 1:08:53the hospital and she decides to get up and she's like pulling
- 1:08:57the needles out and ripping the bandages off.
- 1:09:00And then they start playing Nemec's manifesto.
- 1:09:03Yes, I thought that was a good call back.
- 1:09:05Yes. And what he was saying was very
- 1:09:07much, you know, applied to Clay and then they cut to party gas.
- 1:09:11And I'm like, is party gas listening to it?
- 1:09:14And he was. And I have to say, I called this
- 1:09:19a long time ago. I was so excited.
- 1:09:21You did you. Did I thought I mentioned this
- 1:09:24to you? I thought I had texted you when
- 1:09:26I had this thought, right? That when Tarkin says in Rogue
- 1:09:31one, we need a statement, not a manifesto.
- 1:09:33I was I was yes, I know this is like red cutting, but baby it's
- 1:09:37cuz mimics manifesto got out there and.
- 1:09:41I think. So we got proof.
- 1:09:43We proved now because part of Gas was actually listening to it
- 1:09:46right before he killed himself. Yeah, that's crazy.
- 1:09:50It's crazy. It's crazy how that like Nemic
- 1:09:53is still a part of this even though it was such an
- 1:09:56unfortunate loss in last season. And it makes me wonder like,
- 1:10:01Cassian was the one who had it. He must have been the one who
- 1:10:04got it out there somehow cuz Nemec was still writing it.
- 1:10:07He hadn't finished it when he died.
- 1:10:09So it was so cool. And then I loved when part of
- 1:10:12GAS asked the other officer, who do you think it is?
- 1:10:15Like who do you think, like is speaking who wrote this?
- 1:10:18And they don't write. He doesn't even, he just moves
- 1:10:21on. It doesn't answer the question.
- 1:10:23Yeah, ignore it and it'll go away.
- 1:10:25It was AI thought that was a really cool scene.
- 1:10:27And then we've talked about it a little bit already, how part of
- 1:10:30Gas decides to take his own life there instead of I wonder who
- 1:10:34they were going to bring him down to sea.
- 1:10:38Oh I am, I'm positive it was someone towards the top.
- 1:10:42He's too old for this shit. He literally said without saying
- 1:10:45I'm too old for this, let me just get this little gun out
- 1:10:50like I'm too old. Well, because they would have
- 1:10:52made an example of him, I'm sure.
- 1:10:55For sure, his name would have been tarnished forever and who
- 1:10:59knows what happens to these bodies.
- 1:11:01Yeah, yeah, there's just there's a lot of like cross cutting, I
- 1:11:05guess. Then they go back to Cassian and
- 1:11:08Val is leaving and she tells him to reach out to Bix and he says
- 1:11:12he doesn't. I hated it.
- 1:11:13Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:11:14Good for him. Yeah, I have.
- 1:11:17Well, yeah, we have lots to talk about here.
- 1:11:20While we're getting to it. Somebody posted that like
- 1:11:23Cassian. I've seen this a lot actually.
- 1:11:26Cassian and Bix had true love and I.
- 1:11:30That's all. I as a divorcee, I have a
- 1:11:34different take on on that. Yes.
- 1:11:39I had a partner to leave me in a very similar way to how Bix left
- 1:11:43Cassian, and you can. Same.
- 1:11:45You can come to peace with it, but you don't want to see them
- 1:11:48again. Nope.
- 1:11:50No, They made their choice. That's it.
- 1:11:53Yeah, got to go. Whatever their motivation is, it
- 1:11:57doesn't mean that you're ever going to really be comfortable
- 1:11:59seeing them again. No, it's true.
- 1:12:02So I was kind of glad that he was like, she's, she says she
- 1:12:05does. Like she's safe where she is.
- 1:12:07She wouldn't be safe with me. Like what?
- 1:12:09Well, I'm glad he made it about her safety and not about
- 1:12:11emotion, because that's gone. So we had to turn it into
- 1:12:14something because Belle is her friend, you know?
- 1:12:18And I'm sure they talk and well, it's obvious they talk.
- 1:12:21But yeah, no, no thanks. I'm I'm glad Cassian was strong
- 1:12:26on that front. Yeah, I know.
- 1:12:28I was kind of like hoping they wouldn't mention Bix in this
- 1:12:31episode. And then they put it here and
- 1:12:33then they put it, put it later as well.
- 1:12:35Get to. Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:12:37And I was like, God damn it, Yeah.
- 1:12:40I was hoping that was it. I was hoping that would be it.
- 1:12:43I was too. I We almost made it to the end
- 1:12:46of the episode. Yeah, I wondered too.
- 1:12:49Why did they suddenly put another dream of Cassie and
- 1:12:53sister in there? I have to say it.
- 1:12:57I think it's Claya. I don't care what anyone says.
- 1:12:59I put the things together the way I did and I'm like, I do
- 1:13:04wonder if she's his sister and Luther knew all along and didn't
- 1:13:09say anything and it's just the way it is.
- 1:13:13And whether or not actresses or actors or writers, producers say
- 1:13:18otherwise, I want to go forward thinking that Cassian was with
- 1:13:23his sister all along and saved her.
- 1:13:26Oh, wouldn't that be so poetic? Yeah.
- 1:13:28Yeah, and it's just like Lutheran to not tell them.
- 1:13:32Yes, it is. And that actually would add so
- 1:13:35much meaning when Clay opens the door and she says, of course it
- 1:13:38would be you. Exactly, yes.
- 1:13:41So there's a little too much SIM symbology for me to ignore it.
- 1:13:46Ignore the possibility. The thing that is she speaks
- 1:13:49Basic when he finds her, and obviously they didn't speak
- 1:13:53basic on Kanari, but that doesn't mean that she couldn't
- 1:13:56have been found by somebody else.
- 1:13:58Right, it's true you. Know like after Cassian leaves
- 1:14:03Kanari, there's no telling but I mean, Marva said that basically
- 1:14:07Republic ships are are landing here, we have to go.
- 1:14:11So it's very possible that his sister was taken and taken.
- 1:14:14They were all speaking basic, but I mean the fact that they
- 1:14:17threw in the flashback scene like kind of confirmed it for me
- 1:14:22because there was no reason for it otherwise.
- 1:14:25Yeah, it was, and the only other person who gets flashbacks is
- 1:14:29Cassian. It's Cassian and Clea Playa's
- 1:14:32childhood. Cassie's childhood.
- 1:14:34Seems like and I I, I read the argument that that's a different
- 1:14:38child actor for young playovers. Who cares?
- 1:14:43She grew up a little bit. Obviously she's not going to be
- 1:14:45the little kid. Yeah, there were different.
- 1:14:47There were. Different child actors for
- 1:14:49Cassie and there was at least two that I could remember so.
- 1:14:52Yeah, come on. That's not an indication
- 1:14:54otherwise. I would like to just think that
- 1:14:57Luther knew Lutheran had his ways and that's that.
- 1:15:01Yeah, I think it's a very interesting take and it feels
- 1:15:05very poetic, I think. Well, I think it's also left up
- 1:15:09to us as the viewers. They didn't come to a solid
- 1:15:12conclusion. Yeah.
- 1:15:13And so maybe it is just up to us to decide for ourselves.
- 1:15:17And I'm deciding that they were brother and sister.
- 1:15:19It fits enough. Yeah, it's great.
- 1:15:22And the scenes that they had together were very, very
- 1:15:25interesting, like when she in the when she was making him the
- 1:15:29ID to get into Man man Mothma's speech, like their inner
- 1:15:34exchange there was really, really cool.
- 1:15:36Well, how often have we seen siblings torn apart across a
- 1:15:39Galaxy and come together? It's not new.
- 1:15:42That that's true, especially in Oh man.
- 1:15:46In. Star Wars, that it's like, it's
- 1:15:49what George Lucas says, that it's like poetry.
- 1:15:52It's supposed to reflect over and over in the generations, and
- 1:15:55that's why it's kind of rewarding for the audience.
- 1:15:57Yeah, I think that that would be great.
- 1:15:59I wonder if they'll ever confirm it, but probably not because
- 1:16:01they left it open on purpose I think.
- 1:16:03And I'm fine with that. That means I get to have my my
- 1:16:07cake and eat it too in this regard.
- 1:16:09God, sometimes we just don't want the answers.
- 1:16:12Like just leave it a mystery guys.
- 1:16:13Yes. Well, I thought that was
- 1:16:17interesting to throw it in their last second because they haven't
- 1:16:19really. It was like one of the only
- 1:16:22internal experiences we see with Cassian.
- 1:16:25Again, like what I was saying earlier, we don't really get his
- 1:16:28internal monologue, but we're seeing that he still does think
- 1:16:30about his sister. Yes, and not Bix.
- 1:16:36I mean not not that he's seeking thinking of a sister in the same
- 1:16:40manner that he would Bix, but if he's having dreams, it's of his
- 1:16:44family. Yeah, I think it was cool too
- 1:16:46when they cut to him, like he has the conversation with Bale
- 1:16:50and then he gears up right and he like.
- 1:16:52That's it. And we're seeing, yeah.
- 1:16:55Gets the belts on, gets the holster, the jacket, and it's
- 1:16:58just like. Everything we know.
- 1:17:00It's Batman. He's getting ready to go on
- 1:17:02patrol. This is it.
- 1:17:04This is, this is it it though? Like, yeah, after this,
- 1:17:08everything changes and we know it.
- 1:17:10And I thought it was a I love scenes where the main
- 1:17:14character's walking and it's kind of slow MO and there's
- 1:17:19things happening and we're experiencing it, you know, as
- 1:17:22it's happening. Like the characters.
- 1:17:23I just love shit like that. I'm a sucker for it every time
- 1:17:26it's. So great, Oh my God.
- 1:17:28But he watered his plants before he left.
- 1:17:33I got the sentiment from it. In my opinion, all of these
- 1:17:37relationships have been sprouting, loosed and watered
- 1:17:42them. And now the rebellion has grown
- 1:17:45and, and now Cassian's off to I mean, it's just like what you,
- 1:17:50what you give attention to and take care of grows.
- 1:17:53Yeah, and there's there's this quote from Audrey Hepburn.
- 1:17:57Like there's an an idea that plants indicate hope.
- 1:18:02And she said to plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.
- 1:18:06Yeah, yeah. Oh, that's, that's exactly it,
- 1:18:10yes. You like water, intend this
- 1:18:12plant or a seed that you don't even see and then in the future
- 1:18:16it grows into something from your care and your attention.
- 1:18:21Yes. So I think that like that whole
- 1:18:23sentiment of hope and like it's it's there.
- 1:18:27We didn't need the extra. Right.
- 1:18:30But I mean, there's, there's so much pain.
- 1:18:32Yeah, yeah, yeah. I need to.
- 1:18:34I need to be reminded of it. Yeah, well, and then while
- 1:18:38Cassie's doing his walk, he walks by all these people,
- 1:18:41right? And like Mel, she is on a
- 1:18:42morning run. Did you notice all the guys that
- 1:18:44he's leading are the ones that go with Jen and Cassie and to
- 1:18:47scare? If Oh yeah, I did.
- 1:18:49I did though. It's like, it's all these great
- 1:18:52little shots. Like what about the shot of
- 1:18:55Perrin? Oh, I didn't need to see him,
- 1:18:59but he's a piece of shit. How funny was it?
- 1:19:02Like he's wasted in a car with his daughter's mother-in-law?
- 1:19:06Like what the fuck? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:19:08I mean, some people move on in different ways and some people
- 1:19:12drink themselves into a car with their daughter's mother-in-law.
- 1:19:18I thought it was very interesting they cut to like
- 1:19:21they cut to Parrin, they cut to then they cut to Dedra in
- 1:19:26fucking Narkeena prison. Yes, yes.
- 1:19:30And I have things to say about this, if I may.
- 1:19:33Please, by all means. For those who understand this
- 1:19:36reference, she is the Cersei Lannister of Star Wars of Andor
- 1:19:44and I don't think it was a fitting end for her.
- 1:19:47It wasn't good enough for me. I don't want her to sit in jail.
- 1:19:53I don't want her to sit in Narcena or any version of that.
- 1:19:58Perhaps that is the torment she deserves, but I want, I want an
- 1:20:03epic send off for an epic character.
- 1:20:06It's not enough that she's been reduced to this shell of AI.
- 1:20:12Don't even know. It just wasn't enough for me.
- 1:20:15Was her performance good? Yes.
- 1:20:18Her breaking down in that cell, Fantastic.
- 1:20:22Not good enough for me she needed.
- 1:20:24She was so good and so terrible and so everything that's right
- 1:20:29with the Empire and wrong with the world.
- 1:20:31She needed a more epic send off. But perhaps, perhaps.
- 1:20:35And when you're just that good at being bad, this is what this
- 1:20:40is it. There is no proper send off.
- 1:20:42I'm not sure. Well, maybe death would have
- 1:20:44been too easy for her. I understand that's what they
- 1:20:47went for, but someone like that never fucking learns.
- 1:20:52No and like it. If she were to be released at
- 1:20:55some point, she would not be remorseful and or or like
- 1:21:00rehabilitated. There's no going back for
- 1:21:03someone like that. And you know she's going to
- 1:21:04schmooze her way or try to within that area to get more
- 1:21:09privileges or get, you know, her, her sentence eased or
- 1:21:13something. Maybe not, maybe not.
- 1:21:15I don't know. It's left up to us to wonder
- 1:21:17what happens to her. But maybe I maybe the proper
- 1:21:21send off is her living long enough to see the end of the
- 1:21:24Empire and the Death Star blown up.
- 1:21:25Because I'm sure whatever happens, she sees it.
- 1:21:29Yeah, I wonder if they would find out what happens.
- 1:21:32Well, maybe that's how they built the second Death Star.
- 1:21:35Actually. It's like once they blow up the
- 1:21:38Death Star, then what? What are they making at Narcina?
- 1:21:40It's like, Oh yeah, they made another Death Star.
- 1:21:43So she's still kind of working for the same people she always
- 1:21:46has. She's just been reduced to a
- 1:21:48prisoner. And I don't think it's fair.
- 1:21:50I don't think it's fitting enough.
- 1:21:51Yeah, Denise could have. She was so good.
- 1:21:54She could have portrayed all sorts of amazing scenes.
- 1:21:57They only gave her like 1/2 minute if that, of scene where I
- 1:22:03would have preferred her to like go nuts and be in a straitjacket
- 1:22:06and like shaking and stuff. That would have been cool.
- 1:22:09Where she just completely loses her mind, you know, I don't
- 1:22:13know. It might happen, it's just not
- 1:22:15going to happen. It might happen, yeah.
- 1:22:17It's just implied. Perhaps that's it.
- 1:22:20That's the thing about the Empire.
- 1:22:21They're always left with nothing in the end, and that includes a
- 1:22:24soul. Yeah, it's true.
- 1:22:28Well, they also they showed saw on Jetta and he's looking out
- 1:22:33the window seeing a Star Destroyer over Jetta City.
- 1:22:37So the thing that's really cool is they're playing the past to
- 1:22:40present suite from season 1 over all of this.
- 1:22:44So like past and present like. Well, that's that's appropriate.
- 1:22:47Yeah, and they cut to chronic watching the Death Star finish
- 1:22:51right as Cassian is about to get on his ship.
- 1:22:53So it's like they they end it there and then.
- 1:22:57Well, we've seen that shot of Chronic before where he's
- 1:23:00standing there longingly looking out at his what he.
- 1:23:03Deems in it. Yeah, his perfect other half.
- 1:23:09When Cassian gets to the ship and flies away.
- 1:23:12And that was almost the ending until the last scene, which you
- 1:23:17and I have kind of talked about a little bit.
- 1:23:19Yeah, because we couldn't help it.
- 1:23:21Usually Lauren and I don't talk about stuff prior to this.
- 1:23:24This is our raw reaction. Except for this part, because I
- 1:23:27just. I just had to know what she
- 1:23:29thought because I hated the final shot.
- 1:23:34I don't give a fuck about any of this.
- 1:23:38The show's name is Andor. You end with a shot of Cassie
- 1:23:42and Andor. I don't want to see Bix.
- 1:23:44I don't want to see his child. If it's his child, we don't
- 1:23:49really know. We can assume, but we don't
- 1:23:51know. Yeah.
- 1:23:54I mean be for real. It's his.
- 1:23:57I get that's why she left. It's probably his.
- 1:24:00I'm just trying to. Yeah.
- 1:24:02I can't stand it. I can't either.
- 1:24:05What? Are you OK?
- 1:24:06No, me, I hate it. I hated it.
- 1:24:09I think I. Thought it was horrible.
- 1:24:12I agree it should have been a last shot of fucking Cassie and
- 1:24:15like that's that's it. It's supposed to be about him.
- 1:24:18I think that throwing a baby at the end is become like this
- 1:24:21cheap gimmick that people do all the time now and I don't.
- 1:24:26I don't need hope through a baby.
- 1:24:30Like Cassian's actions with Gin are enough hope in and of
- 1:24:34themselves. That's it.
- 1:24:36Yeah. This.
- 1:24:37It really bothered me. I felt like it was.
- 1:24:39It was a predictable chief gimmick.
- 1:24:42I felt like it was cruel also in a sense because Cassian gets
- 1:24:48left and isn't told the truth. Why?
- 1:24:50Do you really think it wouldn't be deeply hurtful for a person
- 1:24:53to find out? Like, say he finds out that she
- 1:24:55was pregnant and his whole life he's had no agency, right?
- 1:25:00He's taken. His parents are taken from him.
- 1:25:02He's taken by new people and thrown into a new environment.
- 1:25:06No choices ever. This woman makes a choice for
- 1:25:09him. I hate it.
- 1:25:11It's a continuation of a man with no agency.
- 1:25:14It's an insult to the character. I I fucking hate everything
- 1:25:20about this because she didn't even give him a chance to want
- 1:25:25to be a father. Oh, how nice of you Bix, to take
- 1:25:30the choice completely out of his hands by never telling him he
- 1:25:34had a kid with her. That's not nice.
- 1:25:38Don't do that. Oh, it's so noble though she she
- 1:25:43went and found a safe place where she could raise Cassian's
- 1:25:46baby. Oh, how wistfully we look up to
- 1:25:49the sky and wonder if if the pilot dad will ever come back.
- 1:25:53No, and the kid suffers for it because she doesn't fucking know
- 1:25:59that he dies with the Death Star.
- 1:26:01She doesn't know. She'll find out because he has.
- 1:26:05I don't. Think she'll find out?
- 1:26:06He, Val will tell her he has all these people to mourn him, and
- 1:26:11Jin has no one to mourn her. When Kassian says you're not the
- 1:26:15only one who's lost everything. He hasn't lost everything.
- 1:26:18He has Val. He's got Melchi at that point.
- 1:26:21He has K, he's got Mon Mothma, he has Draven, he has people,
- 1:26:26he's got friends. Jin is.
- 1:26:29Alone. Yeah, and all the people her
- 1:26:33found family from Rogue One, they all die with her.
- 1:26:36Yeah, yeah. So where was Jin?
- 1:26:40Oh, that's right. We never even spoke her name in
- 1:26:42this episode. Another issue I had, We're going
- 1:26:44to have a parting shot of Bix so and so.
- 1:26:47Who the fuck? And we're not going to mention
- 1:26:49Jin Urso. We got Galen's name.
- 1:26:52Yeah, barely. I was so irritated that they
- 1:26:56didn't even say her name. It's just like how they won't
- 1:26:59say Ahsoka's name in the Kenobi show and they won't say Obi
- 1:27:03Wan's girlfriend. What's her name?
- 1:27:04Satine. They won't say Satine in the
- 1:27:06Mandalorian. What are we doing?
- 1:27:08Yeah. Star Wars, what are we doing not
- 1:27:11acknowledging the women that are the power behind these
- 1:27:13situations? I know.
- 1:27:16Fucking over it. I know it feels like it.
- 1:27:20I know that Tony Gilroy has not been shy about kind of shitting
- 1:27:24on Rogue One because it was in bad shape apparently, when he
- 1:27:28was brought on to like, fix the story before they finished
- 1:27:32editing it. OK, so it, it sometimes has felt
- 1:27:37like Andor is his slap in the face to Rogue One, and that's
- 1:27:43unnecessary because Rogue One is really, really good.
- 1:27:47And to not mention Jin, OK, you and I are partial to her.
- 1:27:53We love her. She's one of our favorite Star
- 1:27:55Wars characters. Take our emotion out of it.
- 1:27:58Jin is living under an alias at this point, so they would have
- 1:28:03to know where she is in regards to her aliases.
- 1:28:06She would have to know her connection to Sagarera and why
- 1:28:10that would be useful for the information that Cassian is
- 1:28:14about to get from Tivic. It would be useful to know that
- 1:28:17Galen or so had a daughter. But where is she?
- 1:28:19She's not. Exactly there I thought when
- 1:28:22they showed saw on like the calm in the in like Mon was like
- 1:28:27arguing with him that we were getting to mentioning Jin and
- 1:28:31how Galen is tied into this and how Jin is like the the the
- 1:28:35piece on the board that needs to be moved in order for all of
- 1:28:38this nothing. Yeah.
- 1:28:41Fucking fell flat on its face. And like we've said before,
- 1:28:44we're hours away from them needing her and they have no
- 1:28:47idea. Like she's not been mentioned.
- 1:28:49She's not on their radar at all. You really think you're going to
- 1:28:52track this person down? No, This would have taken a lot
- 1:28:55of Intel. This would have taken a lot more
- 1:28:57than just one person. This is Mon would have known
- 1:29:02knowing Saw and talking to Saw and knowing the connection that
- 1:29:05he had with her. Yeah.
- 1:29:07In in their past shit Lutheran would have known.
- 1:29:11Yes, that's what I was thinking too.
- 1:29:12Like Lutheran knew, saw a long time.
- 1:29:15He would have known. Jin existed.
- 1:29:18Oh yeah, and he would have known.
- 1:29:20Lutheran was smart enough to know or at least figure out that
- 1:29:23her father was involved with the empire.
- 1:29:25Let's not say building a Death Star, but you know, cuz that all
- 1:29:29came out kind of in the last minute.
- 1:29:32But yeah, Lutheran is not stupid, and he's got friends
- 1:29:37everywhere, you know? Right and saw thought of Jen as
- 1:29:40his daughter in his. Own 1000%.
- 1:29:43In his weird way. Yes, we don't get that emotional
- 1:29:47scene in Rogue One without some fucking lead into it.
- 1:29:50Yeah, the fact that they don't mention it at all feels like
- 1:29:55maybe a purposeful insults kind of.
- 1:29:58Yeah, of course. Why wouldn't you?
- 1:30:00She's the central. She is the reason Rogue One
- 1:30:03exists and happens. She's the main character, like
- 1:30:05we said, not Cassian. Yes, correct.
- 1:30:08And it's just like, it's just weak writing in my opinion, that
- 1:30:11you're not trying to tie your strands together.
- 1:30:13Why the fuck wouldn't you? And also to like the truth is
- 1:30:17the whole thing with Alani, like bringing all the Intel at once,
- 1:30:22I thought was very convenient. This in in Rogue one, the book,
- 1:30:28they imply that Cassian has been working on this project for a
- 1:30:31long time, getting little pieces of disparate information and
- 1:30:36finally puts it all together when he talks to Tivic.
- 1:30:39And then he's like, oh, my Intel is starting to make sense now.
- 1:30:43He already knows about Jin. He has a plan for extracting her
- 1:30:47already from Wabani. Like where the fuck was all this
- 1:30:51in the show? Did they even mention Wilbani?
- 1:30:54I don't think they did. I didn't hear it.
- 1:30:56They did once in season 1 when Tim with two M's says are we
- 1:31:02going on the Wilbani run or something like the planet was.
- 1:31:05Tim with two M's. There's someone I haven't heard
- 1:31:08of in a while. Tim with two M's.
- 1:31:11Yes. Yeah, yeah, fucking A.
- 1:31:15Yeah, I have. I have serious issues with the
- 1:31:17fact that they didn't mention Gin and now Cassian has a baby.
- 1:31:21What the fuck, guys? Like, can we just not try to be
- 1:31:26so out there? Like to to completely not stick
- 1:31:31the landing? Like, yeah, where you were
- 1:31:33there, But guys, you were right there and then, yeah.
- 1:31:36Yeah, yeah, yeah, yes. I find it so I was so excited.
- 1:31:42And as soon as I saw that shot, as soon as I saw BI was like,
- 1:31:46fucking hell, she's gonna have a baby.
- 1:31:49And there she was walking with a baby out in the field.
- 1:31:51And I was like, God damn it, Do we always have to have this
- 1:31:55perfect Madonna and child, right?
- 1:31:59Women don't always have to have this kind of portrayal.
- 1:32:04Yeah, it's true. It's true.
- 1:32:07Also, did she actually choose the rebellion if she moved to a
- 1:32:11peaceful? I know it was the the remainder
- 1:32:14of the people back on whatever planet that was.
- 1:32:17And how like how if she wasn't safe there before, why is she
- 1:32:21safe there now? I don't, I don't know more
- 1:32:26questions than I was that I wanted at that point.
- 1:32:29The other thing is, so the only thing I appreciated about that
- 1:32:33scene was that B2 was was fine, that he's OK living his best
- 1:32:36life. Yeah, he had a.
- 1:32:38Friend, we did have closure on B and I.
- 1:32:42It could have been cute just to end with him and just be like,
- 1:32:45oh good, B's OK. Seriously, can I?
- 1:32:48I have a little list of things that have no closure.
- 1:32:52Can I just OK, run through it? Let's.
- 1:32:54Do it. I love it.
- 1:32:55Let's go. There's no gin.
- 1:32:57There's no more reference to Clamor Marva except right at the
- 1:33:00last second. There's no reference to whether
- 1:33:03or not Nimic's manifesto is the thing on Cassian's jacket in
- 1:33:08Rogue One. Yeah, that's right.
- 1:33:09That's right. Yep.
- 1:33:10There's no mention of Cassian learning that he and Melchi
- 1:33:13helped build the Death Star. That's.
- 1:33:15True that. We don't know what happens to
- 1:33:18Keno LOI, we don't know what happens with the Maya pay
- 1:33:23rebels. They never came back to that and
- 1:33:25connected it to Yavin or anything.
- 1:33:28It was a waste of time, it turns out.
- 1:33:30It was absolute waste of time. Why did they bother with SAW?
- 1:33:34Because they ended up not following any of the plot line
- 1:33:37with Will or any of that. Like why did they, you know,
- 1:33:40revolutionize Will only to have him go back to work for Lutheran
- 1:33:43and not do anything else with SAW?
- 1:33:45I thought it was very strange that he made it out of Saw's,
- 1:33:48you know, inner circle. Yeah, right.
- 1:33:51And just apparently walked away no problem after huffing, you
- 1:33:55know, fumes with him. There's no real explanation of
- 1:34:01Cassian's line. When he says I've been in this
- 1:34:03fight since I was six years old, they didn't really actually
- 1:34:06address that. Also, he says you're not the
- 1:34:10only one who lost everything, but he didn't lose everything.
- 1:34:13And there's no resolution about his sister.
- 1:34:18So there's just like a huge fucking list of loose ends that
- 1:34:22didn't need to be loose ends. We just spent time dealing with
- 1:34:25other shit over here and not actually addressing the like
- 1:34:28human part of Cassian where he's a human being with interesting
- 1:34:32back story. But instead we have this huge
- 1:34:34scope of like the Gorman front and the desks are sort of and
- 1:34:38like, I feel like they they kind of lost track of the parts that
- 1:34:43are important are the humanity parts.
- 1:34:45And I, yeah, I really have to say, my personal feeling is that
- 1:34:49Tony Gilroy was obsessed with the character of Bix.
- 1:34:53He was infatuated with Bix. And so Bix became this central
- 1:34:59point, this pivot point, because Tony loved Bix.
- 1:35:05Oh my hot take. Yeah, that's because.
- 1:35:10If you I can see it, I can. See it if you take her out and
- 1:35:15just put her like how Will was used and how Brasso was used, it
- 1:35:22actually gives you all this wiggle room to create more of
- 1:35:26Cassian. And they don't.
- 1:35:30They spent all this time developing Bix and not really
- 1:35:35developing Cassian. The show is called Andor.
- 1:35:38I was here to see stuff about Andor like OK again, not the
- 1:35:47actresses fault, I don't. Know this has nothing to do with
- 1:35:50any of the actors or actresses. No, yeah, she's bless her, she's
- 1:35:54lovely. I just feel like I feel
- 1:35:57disappointed I guess cuz I didn't get what I wanted a
- 1:36:00little bit. Right.
- 1:36:01But we're aware. We're aware that, yeah.
- 1:36:04Like. That is the that's an emotion,
- 1:36:06and we're experiencing it, but also some of that shit's pretty
- 1:36:09important. If we're tying it into Rogue
- 1:36:11One, that's where my line is drawn.
- 1:36:14Yeah, exactly like I can accept not getting what I want.
- 1:36:18It happens all the time. Yeah.
- 1:36:20But like, you had an end point, like you know where you're
- 1:36:24going. Why the fuck did you fuck so
- 1:36:26much of this up? We ran out of all of our
- 1:36:33perfect, as Luther said, yes. Oh my God, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:36:38And like I I feel like this is one of the best production value
- 1:36:41shows I've ever seen. Hands down, they did such a good
- 1:36:46job at what they did show. I mean, say what you will about
- 1:36:51whether or not you want this or that to happen, it was filmed
- 1:36:54beautifully. It's it's beautiful.
- 1:36:56The acting is excellent, the music is exceptional, the
- 1:36:59costumes, it's one of the best things I've ever seen.
- 1:37:03My issue is with how they develop Cassian.
- 1:37:06Everything else I loved. I loved on Mothma's arcs and Val
- 1:37:13and Luther and Clay. Everybody was totally, it was so
- 1:37:16beautifully done. I think there are issues with
- 1:37:18the timeline and I think Cassian was like barely developed and
- 1:37:23where he was developed is actually in contradiction with
- 1:37:26how he is in Rogue One. That's where my big issue is.
- 1:37:30It's a pretty big issue. Considering it's a big issue
- 1:37:32because that's the tie in to Rogue One, yeah, Since we didn't
- 1:37:37get Jin, we have to go off of what we have with Cassian.
- 1:37:41Yeah, and the timeline. Yeah.
- 1:37:43And he's, he's not quite the way he is in Rogue One.
- 1:37:47He's pretty different actually, which is a bummer.
- 1:37:52Guess I love him in Rogue One. Rogue One remains my favorite,
- 1:37:56still remains my favorite non Skywalker related Star Wars
- 1:38:02media. I guess you could say non
- 1:38:04trilogy related media. I will never ever forget how I
- 1:38:10felt in the theater seeing that movie and I will defend it until
- 1:38:15the day I die. I don't know that I can add and
- 1:38:17or to that because of that. I think that's why we feel so
- 1:38:20strongly, because Rogue One is just that good.
- 1:38:25Yeah. And I, I think that part of why
- 1:38:27it works, it's because they don't actually fall into the
- 1:38:32cliches. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:38:34Yeah, and I, I think Bixon Cassian falling in love is a bit
- 1:38:38of a cliche and it's a little bit boring.
- 1:38:41Like we've been there, done that.
- 1:38:43And I think why the the tension with him and Gin is so powerful
- 1:38:49is because it's unresolved. Yeah, I still ship them.
- 1:38:53I still ship. Them I I do too and I don't give
- 1:38:57a fuck. I'm honestly, I really think I'm
- 1:38:59going to have to compartmentalize Andor away from
- 1:39:01Rogue One. I've already started.
- 1:39:04I have to. There's stuff in there that that
- 1:39:07like, like Lutheran has changed a lot for me.
- 1:39:11And his character is the piece from Andor that I will defend
- 1:39:14till the day I die because of just how poignant his character
- 1:39:17was. Yeah.
- 1:39:19He is like the finest thing that came out of this series, in my
- 1:39:23opinion, that still works with what we know in Rogue One and
- 1:39:27doesn't destroy anything. It strengthens a lot.
- 1:39:30It adds back story without taking away from what we know in
- 1:39:33Rogue One and on and on and on beyond Rogue One.
- 1:39:37And there's a lot that I'm going to have to compartmentalize.
- 1:39:40Yeah. And that's that's pretty.
- 1:39:42That's pretty typical with Star Wars at this point.
- 1:39:45I'm honestly getting fucking tired of it.
- 1:39:50I'm, I hate to say this, but I'm with you.
- 1:39:52I'm with you. Yeah, I'm getting tired.
- 1:39:54Like I feel like we're being. Stretched and asked to
- 1:39:58accommodate a lot. Yeah, and like, if we're going
- 1:40:02to fuck around with legacy stuff.
- 1:40:05Yeah, why let's let's just not do that.
- 1:40:08Yeah, maybe we should stop fucking with legacy.
- 1:40:10I don't know. I don't want to be that shit
- 1:40:13talker, but I'm also at the point where I've had to watch a
- 1:40:17lot of things that are really meaningful to me, things that
- 1:40:20have gotten me through the hardest periods of my life and
- 1:40:23then they get ruined. And I've actually like maybe
- 1:40:29like 10 years ago, I almost got a Star Wars tattoo and it was
- 1:40:32like whenever around like Disney bought Star Wars and then I
- 1:40:35didn't for some reason. Because of that.
- 1:40:38Well, I just wasn't sure and then it was a good thing I
- 1:40:41didn't because all this stuff that I considered is now has a
- 1:40:45different meaning. Well that's kind of how I feel
- 1:40:47about the undermining of Vader's sacrifice with the the whole
- 1:40:52like pre not prequel the sequel trilogy.
- 1:40:55Yes, yeah. That's obviously a major point.
- 1:41:00Yeah. And like, that was all very,
- 1:41:03very ruined, like D points. Z Point.
- 1:41:06Yeah, Return of the Jedi was undermined.
- 1:41:09Yeah. In full by that shit.
- 1:41:12So you know, I've had to do this before and I'll do it again with
- 1:41:16this show, but I that doesn't mean I like doing it.
- 1:41:18It doesn't mean it's fun because you see it, and you you can't
- 1:41:21just ignore it because you've seen it.
- 1:41:23Right, exactly like the whole idea of Luke being whatever he
- 1:41:28is. In.
- 1:41:29The Last Jedi and then like Obi one being undermined by bringing
- 1:41:34Darth Maul back. Even though it was great plot,
- 1:41:36it was entertaining, It really like it took meaning away from
- 1:41:40what that character did. Yes.
- 1:41:42They just keep doing that and I'm really, I'm tired.
- 1:41:47I'm, I'm tired of it. I know that you and I had jokes
- 1:41:51like if they said that Jen was Cassian's sister that we would
- 1:41:54leave the fandom. No, I'm, I'm with, I'm.
- 1:41:57I would leave the fandom tomorrow and I would never look
- 1:42:00back and I'd be OK with it. Bye.
- 1:42:02Yeah, and I just, it's like, if they keep changing shit, I'm
- 1:42:05gonna get really tired. And I, I love Star Wars, but
- 1:42:08it's starting to be like, I love Star Wars, but, you know, I hate
- 1:42:11having to, like, qualify it. Well, all right.
- 1:42:16How do we wrap this up then? What would you give the series
- 1:42:20as a whole? Shall we rate it?
- 1:42:23My God. There's too many ways to rate it
- 1:42:26because like filming wise, costume wise, acting wise, 10
- 1:42:30out of 10, yeah, timeline wise, 5 out of 10.
- 1:42:33Where the fuck is gin? 0 out of 10.
- 1:42:36Like, yeah, yeah, yeah. Exactly.
- 1:42:38So I guess we can't, I guess. It's hard because I felt season
- 1:42:431 was perfect and had a really like had amazing potential and I
- 1:42:48was really happy with the way season 2 started.
- 1:42:51And like, every arc we went through, I became more and more
- 1:42:54deflated. And yeah, as Bix became more and
- 1:42:58more of a like a cliche and yeah, Cassian didn't do
- 1:43:03anything, and then the timelines don't really match up.
- 1:43:06And so I don't know, I have really mixed feelings.
- 1:43:09I think it's one of the most perfect things I've seen and one
- 1:43:12of the most frustrating and heartbreaking things I've seen
- 1:43:14because I care that much about Cassian in particular and Rogue
- 1:43:19One, And I get it. If you're not obsessed with
- 1:43:21Rogue One and you don't have like an obsession with Cassie
- 1:43:24and Andor, this is probably super great and entertaining.
- 1:43:27Yeah. And I can, you know, I
- 1:43:29understand that. Well.
- 1:43:31I kind of came away feeling like I wish I'd never watched it
- 1:43:34because I I'm sad the way it changed things about Rogue One
- 1:43:38for me. You were fearful of that.
- 1:43:41Yeah, if I had known, I wouldn't have watched it, I think.
- 1:43:46Oh, I mean, that's I feel about, I feel that way about a lot of
- 1:43:49stuff in Star Wars. But I am happy and thankful that
- 1:43:54we got characters like Lutheran, you know, and Clay.
- 1:43:58I love the back story of Mon that was that was flawless.
- 1:44:03Yeah. Genevieve really shines in every
- 1:44:07scene. She's no matter what it.
- 1:44:08Is my God, she's such a good. So there's a lot of really good
- 1:44:12golden Nuggets, yeah, but as far as like, the tale of Cassian,
- 1:44:17Andor didn't stick the landing. I'm not going to let it ruin
- 1:44:24Rogue One, because I just won't. I won't allow it.
- 1:44:27I know I'm going to have to like reprogram my brain so that Rogue
- 1:44:30One looks exactly the same to me as it always did because I even
- 1:44:34wrote like a fick and my own fick meaning got changed because
- 1:44:38of this stupid. Show.
- 1:44:41Well, I mean, you can still hold on to that.
- 1:44:42That's yours. Nobody.
- 1:44:44I've been rereading it and it feels different.
- 1:44:47It made me so angry. Oh, Oh yeah.
- 1:44:52Which I just have to point out. How must Gareth Edwards feel?
- 1:44:56I thought of that. I hope.
- 1:44:58I don't know. I'm listen, I'm with Gareth till
- 1:45:01the end. I'm a ride or die with him.
- 1:45:05I I don't know. I mean like he's the reason
- 1:45:09Diego Luna is Cassie and Andy. He chose him personally, like
- 1:45:13without auditioning. Yep.
- 1:45:16It must feel like such a slap in the face.
- 1:45:22It must be so hard to see all this love and all these
- 1:45:26accolades going to Andor, which it deserves because it is
- 1:45:29incredible, the production value.
- 1:45:31But it's like, but it's changing.
- 1:45:33Rogue One and Rogue One did not need to be changed.
- 1:45:37It was perfect just as it is. That must be such a hard pill to
- 1:45:41swallow as the creator and director of that movie.
- 1:45:45Yeah, but he still has the best piece of post original trilogy
- 1:45:51truth Star Wars out there. So he he still, he still wears
- 1:45:56the crown because. Remember when Rogue One, it was
- 1:45:59like it came out after the the prequels and it went back to
- 1:46:04tactile stuff like it was real creatures and real sets.
- 1:46:09It wasn't green screening and it felt like A New Hope again.
- 1:46:13It was like. Oh my God, where has this been?
- 1:46:15Truly, truly. It was special.
- 1:46:18It really was and I got to see it with you in theater when they
- 1:46:21re released it. I know it was so much fun.
- 1:46:24God, I cried just as much then as I did.
- 1:46:26What is wrong? Don't answer that question.
- 1:46:28I keep saying what's wrong with me, but don't answer but Rogue
- 1:46:32One. I mean, I know that it's
- 1:46:33emotional, but like, I cried for joy when Vader's in that hallway
- 1:46:37scene. I have problems.
- 1:46:40I'm not a violent person, I just really like the bad guy when
- 1:46:43he's at his prime. Oh, I love you so.
- 1:46:47Much my final thought on this, I miss Jen, what's your final
- 1:46:55thought? My final thought is just kind of
- 1:46:58like that sums it up. Fair.
- 1:47:10All right, well, that's it. We're exhausted.
- 1:47:17Oh my God, we're gonna go back to our every other week schedule
- 1:47:21because this is so tiring. Not only was it every week, but
- 1:47:25it was like 2 hour long episodes every time.
