- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Epstein Chronicles. A couple of weeks ago, we were talking
- 0:09about the private investigators who removed evidence from Epstein's home. Well,
- 0:14now we're hearing that the House Oversight Panel is seeking
- 0:17testimony from these private investigators about what kind of evidence
- 0:22was moved. And the craziest part is the DOJ never
- 0:26seized any of this information, never sees any of this evidence,
- 0:29never sees any of these desktop computers, never sees any
- 0:32of it, just like they never raided Zoro Ranch, just
- 0:35like they never raided the houses in Colorado. I guess
- 0:39all of that was just an oversight. Maybe they forgot
- 0:41that Jeffrey Epstein had other properties to raid, or that
- 0:45he had storage units that needed to be searched. I
- 0:49remember when Rex Huwerman was first arrested and accused of
- 0:52being the Long Island serial killer, they rated what two
- 0:57three different storage units that this dude had. Meanwhile, you
- 1:00have a guy like Jeffrey Epstein who has houses that
- 1:03remain untouched and storage units that the DOJ didn't even
- 1:07care about. So now the House Overside Committee is trying
- 1:11to get a handle on what might have been in
- 1:14those storage units, and in hopes of doing that, they've
- 1:17hit the private eyes with subpoenas. So today we have
- 1:21an article from ABC News and the headline House overside
- 1:24Panel seeks testimony from private investigators who removed evidence from
- 1:28Epstein's home. The authors of this article are Lauren Peller,
- 1:33Peter Charlembeau, and James Hill. Democrats on the House oversighte
- 1:38Committee are seeking testimony from private investigators who are removed
- 1:42and stored a trove of evidence from the late sex
- 1:45offender Jeffrey Epstein's Palm Beach mansion before it was searched
- 1:49by police in two thousand and five, according to letters
- 1:53reviewed by ABC News, So you need to tell me
- 1:56that this was an expansive investigation, that no stone was
- 2:00left unturned, that everybody was looked at, everybody was talked to,
- 2:04everybody was brought in. Well, we know that's not true,
- 2:10and it's not just me telling you that anymore. Like
- 2:12I always say, you now have that evidence for yourself.
- 2:16This whole entire thing down in Florida was nothing more
- 2:19than theater. The idea was to get it off the plate.
- 2:24The federal government knew how damaging it could be. For them.
- 2:28So they wanted the state to take care of it right,
- 2:30kick it right back down the state, and wipe our
- 2:33hands clean of it. That's what they thought. They never
- 2:36thought that this was going to pop back up, that
- 2:38people were going to still be interested in what happened
- 2:40with Epstein, that Julie K. Brown would kick off her series.
- 2:45Yet here we are, and now people want answers. And
- 2:50I think that if you really want to get to
- 2:51the bottom of what happened, you have to start at
- 2:54ground zero. And ground zero, obviously is the first investigation
- 2:58in Florida. While the Department of Justice appearing to have
- 3:02never obtained the evidence, which included three desktop computers and
- 3:07more than two dozen phone directories. Lawmakers want to interview
- 3:10the men about the removal of what could have been
- 3:13key evidence for police and prosecutors in their probe into
- 3:16Epstein's sex trafficking. And I think the big question here
- 3:21is how did they know to remove it? Who tipped
- 3:24them off? Because somebody tipped Jeffrey Epstein off down in
- 3:27Florida without a doubt. Was it Sandy Berger, was it
- 3:31somebody else? Who knows, but somebody definitely tipped them off,
- 3:35because if you remember, by the time that the authorities
- 3:38got there, everything was removed. The hard drives were gone,
- 3:42the computers were gone, wires were dangling, nothing left to
- 3:46be found. The Committee requests that you make yourself available
- 3:50for a transcribed interview to provide insight into the contents, removal, storage,
- 3:56and location of the materials removed from mister Epstein's pom
- 3:59Beach home. Oversight Committee ranking member, Representative Robert Garcia of
- 4:03California wrote in letters that were sent to three private
- 4:07investigators who were working for Epstein, I'm sure that's an
- 4:11enjoyable email to get or note to get or whatever. Yeah,
- 4:17we're gonna need you to come in and talk about
- 4:18Jeffrey Epstein and why you hid some information and evidence
- 4:22that could have helped the cops see you on such
- 4:25and such a date. The next call is directly to
- 4:27your lawyer, Right, so and so, I got a big
- 4:31problem and it's Epstein related. The committee also seeks information
- 4:37regarding the reason for the removal of these materials, the
- 4:41potential withholding of these materials from law enforcement, and any
- 4:45other information regarding the activities and crimes of Jeffrey Epstein
- 4:49and any of his co conspirators, Garcia wrote, ABC News
- 4:53last month reported about the removal of potential evidence which
- 4:57may have shielded Epstein from legal scrutiny, and can try
- 5:00to how he was able to largely evade justice for
- 5:03more than a decade. And I think that's a valid
- 5:06line of questioning, right, I mean, you have these computers,
- 5:10you have this evidence, and it's all in this storage room,
- 5:13and according to reports, it was moved right before the
- 5:16house was raided, like for real, and the original investigators
- 5:21had no questions about that. Alex Acosta, Mariva, Lafauna, nobody
- 5:26wanted to kick in the door and get that information.
- 5:29Oh that's right. The operation was being run by Matt Mentchell,
- 5:34and Matt Mentchell well, he had other ideas, and unfortunately
- 5:37none of those ideas had anything to do with Jeffrey
- 5:40Epstein really being held accountable. There was good reason to
- 5:43believe the computers contained relevant and potentially critical information, and
- 5:49it was clear Epstein did not want the contents of
- 5:51his computers disclosed. The OPR report said, well, I wonder
- 5:55why you really think Jeffrey Epstein wants anyone rifling around
- 5:58on his computer, considering the nonsense he was up to
- 6:02highly doubt that. But again, my question is who the
- 6:07hell tip this guy off, Who let him know that
- 6:10the cops were coming and that he had to get
- 6:12rid of all this evidence before they got there. I
- 6:15think that's a pretty big question, and I think it
- 6:18really goes to the heart of the real problem down
- 6:20here in Florida. The fix was in from the very beginning,
- 6:25before the guy was even arrested. The fix was in,
- 6:28and I think at this point it's indisputable. In letters
- 6:34first obtained by ABC News, Garcia formally requested that private
- 6:39investigator Paul Lavery, Stephen Kira Lee, and William Riley appears
- 6:43separately for voluntary transcribed interviews. The deadline for the investigators
- 6:49to respond is April ninth. According to the letters, Epstein's
- 6:53longtime attorney, Darren Endyke, who sat for a deposition before
- 6:56the oversight panel last week, told lawmakers that the evidence
- 7:00was likely never turned over to law enforcement. Like, how's
- 7:04that even possible if you got in trouble. Believe me,
- 7:08the FEDS they're getting all of it, whatever information is available,
- 7:12whatever information exists, they're getting that shit and they're going
- 7:15to use it against you. But Jeffrey Epstein. Ah, come on,
- 7:20nothing to see here, folks. Just a guy that was
- 7:22soliciting a girl for some sex. No big deal. Ah,
- 7:26she wasn't even a minor, she was about to be eighteen.
- 7:30That's the kind of bullshit they're pulling on us, and
- 7:33I find it wholly unacceptable. After Epstein's conviction, after he
- 7:40served jail time, through conversations with defense counsel, I became
- 7:44aware that there were computer hard drives in the possession
- 7:47of private investigators, and Dyke said in his deposition, I
- 7:51just don't know how they came into possession, but I
- 7:54knew of the existence of hard drives. Again, he had
- 7:57no idea. Nobody knew anything, folks. Nobody had any idea
- 8:01what was going on, and they were all just winging it.
- 8:04Everybody was just you know, going on vibes. Look, the
- 8:06truth is, every single person who's come up and given
- 8:09a deposition so far has lied. They've all perjured themselves,
- 8:13and nothing's going to happen. This would have to be
- 8:15a real investigation for something to happen, and it most
- 8:20certainly is not. Documents released earlier this year by the
- 8:25Department of Justice shed new light on the removal of
- 8:28the potential evidence. According to a two thousand and five
- 8:31memo from private investigator William Riley Till, one of Epstein's
- 8:35criminal defense lawyers, Lavery visited Epstein's pom Beach home to
- 8:39remove items of potential evidentiary value less than two weeks
- 8:43before police raided the mansion in October of two thousand
- 8:46and five. Obviously tipped off what He just had a vision.
- 8:52He was sitting around and he called the psychic hotline
- 8:54and Miss Cleo picked up and she was like, oh yeah, man,
- 8:57you're going to be raided in two weeks because short
- 9:00of that, somebody tipped them off. So the question is who.
- 9:07Lavery removed more than one hundred pieces of potential evidence,
- 9:10according to an index released by the DOJ, including the
- 9:14three computers, twenty nine bound telephone directories, and a listing
- 9:18of nearby messuses, as well as the trove of sexually
- 9:21explicit materials. Among the removed material was a photo with
- 9:26a handwritten message saying you better never forget about me
- 9:29from an unknown woman who signed her name. Class of
- 9:32two thousand and five. When the Palm Beach Police Department
- 9:36searched Epstein's home two weeks later, investigators noted that multiple
- 9:40computers from the property were conspicuously absent from the home,
- 9:44including one linked to Epstein's surveillance system. Oh, I wonder why.
- 9:49I'm sure was all just a coincidence, right, Just like
- 9:51the video from the jail, or the fact that Jeffrey
- 9:53Epstein was logged in as an African American person in jail,
- 9:58or the fact that he was put in a cell
- 10:00with Tartaglione. All this stuff is just a coincidence. And
- 10:05if you don't think so, you're a conspiracy theorist. That's
- 10:08the narrative. But the truth is a long way from
- 10:12their narrative, isn't it. And the truth is we've been
- 10:15bullshitted from the very beginning. While federal prosecutors attempted to
- 10:21recover the evidence while investigating Epstein in the lay two
- 10:24thousands include including a subpoena for Riley for testimony, law
- 10:28enforcement agreed to abandon the effort when Epstein agreed to
- 10:32the two thousand and eight plead deal that allowed him
- 10:34to avoid a lengthy jail sentence. Documents released by the
- 10:38Department of Justice indicate Epstein's attorneys continue to keep tabs
- 10:42on the evidence to ensure the material were not disclosed
- 10:45to attorneys for Epstein's victims and civil litigation. Can you
- 10:49imagine what was on those computers and how much evidence
- 10:52the DOJ just let walk away. In two thousand and nine,
- 10:58Riley confirmed that he would cantinue to store the material
- 11:01in a safe and secure location, though the evidence location
- 11:05in the following decade remains unclear. If at any time
- 11:08you're unable to maintain possession of those materials, or have
- 11:12any concern whatsoever that mister Epstein's possessions may be compromised
- 11:16in any manner, please advise me immediately such that we
- 11:20can take the necessary actions to protect and preserve those
- 11:23materials as is required in the non prosecution agreement. An
- 11:27attorney for Epstein wrote in a letter memorializing the conversation
- 11:31about the evidence. So let's get rid of the NPA,
- 11:35which is illegal anyway, which has already been shit on
- 11:39by the court, and then let's get down to business.
- 11:43Oh wait, Pam Bondi's in charge. She's not going to
- 11:45do that. That would out all of Donald Trump's friends,
- 11:48and we can't have that, can we? Billing records of
- 11:52the private Detective Agency owned by Riley and Curley, both
- 11:55former Miami police officers, show that the firms invoices for
- 11:59Epstein and his attorneys span several years and included recurring
- 12:03charges for a storage facility. According to records included in
- 12:07the DOJ's release of the Epstein files, the dj knew
- 12:11exactly where this stuff was and they didn't want to
- 12:14touch it. Was it that radioactive? I don't know. Maybe
- 12:20we'll find out, but I doubt it. Riley and Lavery
- 12:24did not respond to requests for comment last month. Reached
- 12:27by phone, cure Lee said he would not discuss anything
- 12:30related to Jeffrey Epstein. Garcia told ABC News, it's incredibly
- 12:35troubling that Epstein's computers and hard drives were in possession
- 12:39of private investigators and may have never been seen by
- 12:42any law enforcement agency. Are we not even going to
- 12:44mention the fact that he was tipped off? That might
- 12:47be important, because what does that matter if the law
- 12:50enforcement agency sees the information that's on the computer or
- 12:54the evidence that's inside of those documents, if they're not
- 12:57going to act on it, and if somebody from law
- 13:00enforcement tipped them off, we got a bigger problem here.
- 13:04And as you know, I believe we have a bigger
- 13:07problem here. The idea that now these private investigators have
- 13:12this enormous amount of information that has not been accessible
- 13:15to us on the Committee or in Congress or the
- 13:17American public is pretty significant. Garcia said, they are an
- 13:22important part of our investigation. House Democrats in the letters
- 13:27requested that the investigators preserve all relevant material in their possession,
- 13:32including hard drives, storage devices, backup archived data, cloud based storage, accounts,
- 13:37financial records, videos, photos, audio recordings, and all communications. The
- 13:44committee also requested any records reflecting the transfer, custody, or
- 13:48handling of the above materials and any physical items that
- 13:52were taken from Jeffrey Epstein's home. They're not going to
- 13:55get that. You can ask for it, but I don't recall.
- 13:58I forgot, oh that was placed. I expect a whole
- 14:01lot of that. Yo. Can we be real any evidence
- 14:04that was in those files or anything that was on
- 14:07those hard drives is long gone. What it's all preserved?
- 14:11Give me a break. While Garcia's invitation for a voluntary testimony,
- 14:17if the men do not cooperate, the committee could vote
- 14:19to subpoena them or the Republican chairman of the committee,
- 14:23Representative James Comer of Kentucky could also unilaterally compel them
- 14:28to testify. Oh, we're relying on Comer again. Huh. It's
- 14:32like relying on a blind guide to get you up
- 14:35Mount Everest. Not really going to work out the way
- 14:37you think. We're bringing in anyone that has information that
- 14:42could be helpful to our investigation, and hopefully we'll be
- 14:45able to get to the truth to the American people
- 14:48and provide some type of justice for the victims. Comer
- 14:52said after a recent deposition with Epstein's accountant, Richard Kahn,
- 14:57I really wish that Comber cared. He doesn't, and it's
- 15:01his actions that show us at this whole entire thing
- 15:04is nothing more than a way to help Donald Trump.
- 15:07That's what he's trying to do. Marie Villafana, the former
- 15:12assistant US attorney who pushed to indict Epstein during the
- 15:16investigation in Florida, previously said if the evidence on the
- 15:19missing computers had been what we suspected it was, it
- 15:22would have put this case completely to bed. According to
- 15:25the OPR report, Yeah, Villafana is not a hero here.
- 15:30And I have an email from Villa Fauna where she's
- 15:33working with Epstein's lawyers to try and find statutes to
- 15:37charge them with a lesser crime, and over the weekend,
- 15:39I'll be sharing that with you. Acosta said he had
- 15:43no recollection of the efforts to obtain the computers and
- 15:46objected to the report's conclusion that he should have given
- 15:49greater consideration to pursuing the evidence before entering the deal
- 15:53with Epstein. The report said, look, Acosta was just window dressing.
- 16:01The decision came down from Justice, from Maine Justice, and
- 16:04that was a Philippe and Mukasey. And remember it was
- 16:09Menchel who really designed this plea deal, you know, the
- 16:12guy that ended up being Jeffrey Epstein's buddy. Yeah, that guy.
- 16:15And as far as the evidence inside of that storage room,
- 16:18who the hell knows what was in there or what's
- 16:21in there now? And maybe Congress should stop being nice
- 16:24and stop asking if this guy wants to come in
- 16:26or these guys want to come in to talk and
- 16:30order them to do so. And will that happen? Who knows.
- 16:33We'll have to see what goes on and if these
- 16:36investigators try to fight this invitation to speak to Congress,
- 16:40And like usual, we'll keep an eye on this one,
- 16:43and we'll see where it all ends up. All the
- 16:46information that goes with this episode can be found in
- 16:50the description box.
