- 0:00Speaker 1: I just shot content for my new product, the Lemon Scrub.
- 0:02Then I got Fiverr and Upwork consultants to edit it
- 0:05for me. Hey guys, Davey here. Just to recap, I'm
- 0:0826 years old and I've got businesses that do over
- 0:11$ 270 million in sales on Shopify. In this series, I'm
- 0:14trying to show you every single step of the way
- 0:16how to build a million dollar brand. First, we started
- 0:18with finding the product and getting the supplier. Then we
- 0:21branded it and we wrote the copy.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Now we've got to shoot the.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Content for our website and our ads. So this is
- 0:27the final product. The branding is looking great. It is
- 0:29incredibly effective at cleaning, which is what we need for
- 0:32our videos. Before we jump into shooting content, make sure
- 0:35you like and subscribe.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Let's get into it.
- 0:39Speaker 1: One of the most important parts of online businesses at
- 0:42the moment is content creation. The term content marketing is
- 0:44thrown out a lot. I really do believe that the
- 0:47best performing brands are there because of both product market
- 0:50fit and their ability to do amazing content marketing. At
- 0:53The Oodie, we've always invested so much in videography and photography.
- 0:56You really need to make sure with your imagery, the
- 0:58customer knows exactly what they're getting. You need to show
- 1:01the materials in high quality images. You need to show
- 1:04the fit and the feel. This will increase your conversion
- 1:06rate drastically. People are too worried about investing a lot
- 1:09of time or energy into creating good content when it's
- 1:12actually one of the most profitable things that you can
- 1:14be doing in the early stages. It will also decrease
- 1:17the amount of returns you have if you can clearly
- 1:19convey your product use and imagery on your website. There
- 1:23are three ways that you can get product imagery for
- 1:25your website. One, do it yourself, which we're gonna do today. Two,
- 1:29you can get a professional to do it, which is
- 1:31actually a great option if you have the budget. Three,
- 1:34you can actually get product image renders done quite cheaply
- 1:37on Fiverr. Since I don't have the budget to hire
- 1:39a professional today, I'm gonna do it all myself. Let's
- 1:41jump into the kitchen and start cleaning. Instead of randomly shooting,
- 1:49we need to do our homework. We gotta make sure
- 1:51that we are prepared. So to get prepared, all you
- 1:54need to do is Google your competitors. We're gonna check
- 1:57out the images that they have to make sure we
- 1:59can cover our website and all of the other marketing
- 2:02that we need to do. We've already done our copy
- 2:05for our website, which is really important. Now we need
- 2:07to match up those images to those talking points you
- 2:10can create mood boards using pinterest and create what's called
- 2:13a photography brief you then need to actually do this
- 2:16for the video shots as well that you need you
- 2:18need to make sure that you get all the key
- 2:19shots so that when it comes to making facebook ads
- 2:22you can create something that can convert no you don't
- 2:24need any fancy equipment we're just going to use an
- 2:26iphone we do have a lot of natural light here
- 2:28which is absolutely perfect we also might need a light
- 2:31box but you can get one of those really cheap
- 2:33off amazon Don't get fooled into thinking that you need
- 2:35fancy equipment to start your e-commerce business. You even don't
- 2:38need a model. You can just use your friends and family.
- 2:41My first ever Udi shoot, I used my mum. I'm
- 2:43gonna use my mum today as well for the cleaning products.
- 2:45So before your photo shoot and during, make sure you
- 2:48clean your camera lens to make sure that there's no
- 2:50blurry spots. Make sure you have a steady hand during
- 2:53it You can invest in a tripod if you want.
- 2:55There's even iPhone tripods. iPhone's pretty good with the steady
- 2:57hand side of things. They've got great stabilizers built in.
- 3:00The key thing is always gonna be lighting. Shoot next
- 3:03to a diffused window or get a light box yourself.
- 3:06One common photography tip is separate the scene into three
- 3:09even sections.
- 3:10Speaker 2: It's called the rule of thirds.
- 3:11Speaker 1: You can even change the exposure settings on your iPhone
- 3:14to change the amount of light that's coming in. For
- 3:16the product lifestyle images, use some really cheap props and
- 3:19contrasting backgrounds. You can even get a piece of colored
- 3:22cardboard in your brand colors to make it look even
- 3:25more professional. When you're videoing, one of the main pieces
- 3:27of advice that I have is make sure you stick
- 3:29to your shot list. The amount of times that I've
- 3:31shot home videos and realized that I missed some key
- 3:34shots is... At.
- 3:40Speaker 2: One sample. Oh, it's a disaster. Oh, for sake. And scene. Right,
- 3:48let's try that again.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Key communication to your subject or your model is really important.
- 3:52Give them the brief of what you're trying to achieve
- 3:54and let them naturally do it.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Audio is so important.
- 3:57Speaker 1: If you're filming a video where you need the audio,
- 3:59make sure the room acoustics is good or get a
- 4:01cheap lapel mic. Alrighty, so now I'm just going to
- 4:03take some product imagery. I've only got one sample. The
- 4:06rest of the labels are coming next week. So we
- 4:09just need to make sure that we don't ruin this tub,
- 4:11but it should be fine. So we'll start with product imagery.
- 4:14Then we'll go into videography. We've got our model over there.
- 4:17then we are going to just get some images during
- 4:20that video shoot as well. We should be able to
- 4:23make it work. So I've got this basic light box here.
- 4:27What we can also do, just get some basic cheap
- 4:29props like this, obviously on brand neutral color palette, still
- 4:35a fair bit of light here.
- 4:36Speaker 2: We can just get some simple shots like this. Something
- 4:40like that, looks quite good.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Just gonna get some on-brand yellow card, get some images
- 4:50with that. So I've got my mum here, Kim Fogarty.
- 4:55Say hello.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Hello.
- 4:57Speaker 1: So we're just gonna start using some hands in the
- 4:59imagery and then we're gonna start taking some videos.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I want the hand like kind of flat on it. Yeah,
- 5:05you can sit up there. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, that's better.
- 5:11A good branded background. You might try it on the
- 5:15side as well, like that.
- 5:19Speaker 1: While I'm here, I'm just gonna get some quick boomerangs
- 5:21and stuff like that. We'll probably use them in the
- 5:23Facebook ads. So what you're gonna do is you're just
- 5:26gonna kind of hold it naturally in that flat, in
- 5:29front of that position.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Yeah, and then you're just gonna open it up.
- 5:32Speaker 1: What we'll do is we'll try to just get like
- 5:41a little bit more movement in the hook. So one
- 5:42of our shot lists, was it was sliding along the counter,
- 5:46just try to get a bit of intention. So I'll
- 5:48get you to stand there and I'm going to get
- 5:49you to do the same thing. I'm just going to
- 5:50slide it to you first. Sweet. So we can probably
- 5:55start doing our cleaning shots now. Let's start with the oven.
- 5:59So the oven was the most common video that we
- 6:03saw on both TikTok for our competitors. And also I
- 6:06just think it's a great usage for the product. So
- 6:09we're going to start with the oven, make sure we
- 6:11get our key shots there first. then we'll probably go
- 6:14onto the barbecue, try to do some pans, some bathrooms
- 6:18as well. That should give us the whole house and
- 6:20be able to convert customers. What you're going to do
- 6:22is you're going to take the lid off and then
- 6:24you can just put it on the side.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Actually, just leave it on for now. Leave it on
- 6:28for now.
- 6:28Speaker 1: So yeah, you can take the lid off, put it, yeah,
- 6:31just down there is actually fine. And then just a
- 6:33light dabbing of it. And then you're just going to
- 6:35do circular motions on the bit. We're going to start
- 6:38with the actual front, because that's gonna clean up really nicely,
- 6:42just naturally as you would. Once you've done all of
- 6:45those circles, we'll.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Have to get a microfiber cloth. I'll just grab that
- 6:49for you.
- 6:51Speaker 1: And then we'll just keep going and we'll do the
- 6:53wipe clean, the final wipe clean. So whenever you're ready.
- 7:01See it's coming off already, which is good. It smells
- 7:08absolutely amazing, which is obviously what we wanted. So just
- 7:10trying to get it as many angles as possible. Well,
- 7:12you can probably get a little bit more scrub from us.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Yeah, nice.
- 7:20Speaker 1: And I'll just get you to pause there. I'm just
- 7:23gonna get some images. So we might just leave this
- 7:27section just to compare it. So now we're just gonna
- 7:29do the reveal common shot that people doing cleaning commercials,
- 7:32we've studied this.
- 7:33Speaker 2: So you're just gonna keep wiping them away. Yep, perfect.
- 7:37So nice. And you can see how much that's cleaned already,
- 7:40which is fantastic. Were you ever in doubt? It works
- 7:44really well.
- 7:44Speaker 1: It's very satisfying.
- 7:46Speaker 2: My housemates are happy I'm finally cleaning. Yeah, but your
- 7:49mother's here doing it for you.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Is that the plan?
- 7:52Speaker 2: Yeah, that's why I did a cleaning product.
- 8:06Speaker 3: This is a remarkable, world-changing cleaner. It's a six-in-one product.
- 8:10It can do anything from the really grotty barbecue plate
- 8:13to the dishes in the sink to the bathroom, even
- 8:16does windows. It's really world-changing. Click on the link below
- 8:20to buy.
- 8:20Speaker 1: If you're ever wondering how professionals get their really clean,
- 8:25sparkly countertops, they use amazing products just like the lemon scrub.
- 8:30Speaker 2: So when you're saying that, and there's no movement.
- 8:32Speaker 3: We've all got really stubborn, dirty places in the house.
- 8:36This grout in the outdoor tiles has been really hard
- 8:40to get clean.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Wow.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Before and after, amazing.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Come back, yeah. Maybe just start scrubbing quicker. Yeah. Think about, right, okay.
- 8:57Speaker 3: You've probably seen a lot of cleaning products on social media.
- 9:00But really, the cutting edge technology of this lemon scrub
- 9:04is the most efficient that I've come across. You can
- 9:07see how beautifully it's cleaned this really grotty, stubborn barbecue
- 9:11plate right back to the stainless steel with very, very
- 9:15minimum scrubbing.
- 9:19Speaker 1: It really is awesome. Alrighty, so now what I've done
- 9:22is I've just dragged all the videos and images onto
- 9:24the computer so that we can get an editor to
- 9:27work on it. I'm gonna use Fiverr today. I used
- 9:30Upwork in one of my really early videos, so you
- 9:32know how to use that. Fiverr is pretty much the same.
- 9:35They pretty much standardize their processes. What I'm gonna show
- 9:37you today is actually what not to do when using
- 9:40a consultant.
- 9:41Speaker 2: So I'm gonna jump onto Fiverr.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I'm just gonna pick someone without too much vetting of
- 9:45their portfolio. I'm also going to give them very little instruction.
- 9:49Chances are, most of the editors on here would be
- 9:52able to do a good job with a proper brief.
- 9:55If you don't spend the proper time and communicate properly,
- 9:58it's not gonna work out well, which is exactly what
- 10:00I'm gonna do today. This is a very common mistake
- 10:03that people make. They outsource the very final moment of
- 10:06the editing, which is really important. After I find this
- 10:08fiber person, I'm actually gonna show you how I edit
- 10:11footage using Premiere Pro. I strongly recommend that you learn
- 10:14how to use one of these video editing software. It's
- 10:16not that hard, it takes a bit of patience, And
- 10:18it's a great skill to learn. Let's first find our
- 10:20lucky freelancer. So this is just our Google Drive where
- 10:23I've dragged all the footage in here. We made it
- 10:26really nice and organized. So we've got our audio, we've
- 10:29got some DLSR photos. You might not have them if
- 10:32you're only using iPhone. All of our iPhone footage is here,
- 10:36both videos and then also pictures in here.
- 10:40Speaker 2: So nice and organized.
- 10:41Speaker 1: They most definitely need editing, but they're looking pretty good. So,
- 10:48Coming over to Fiverr, I've already created an account, free account,
- 10:51no problem. So we can just come in here and
- 10:54click post request. And we just basically need to describe
- 10:57the service. We're going to say, please create.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Three times Facebook ads for drop shipping. I'm just going
- 11:10to say drop shipping, even though we're not doing it.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Product.
- 11:15Speaker 2: We're going to go here, video and animation. Video editing.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Would like it delivered in, let's go three days. I'm
- 11:24gonna react to these videos probably next week. And what
- 11:28is our budget for this service?
- 11:30Speaker 2: Let's go $ 10. $ 10?
- 11:30Speaker 1: Okay.
- 11:30Speaker 2: $ 10 for three videos. I don't know if we'll be
- 11:37able to get that, but. So we've spent about $ 700
- 11:40at this stage. So we can most definitely afford a
- 11:42$ 10 video. So you've got all of these job posts here.
- 11:46We can go into them.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Really all you're looking for is the reviews until you
- 11:51can see their past work.
- 11:53Speaker 2: So you can just click play. One thing you'll often.
- 12:04Speaker 1: See with these videos is that they've got these crazy
- 12:07text animations, which, look, I have never really seen those
- 12:13kind of crazy text animations increase performance. All it does
- 12:17is distract you from the product. I think you want
- 12:20it just like you see subtitles on a movie. It's
- 12:23really digestible, it gets your eye, it's really easy to understand,
- 12:27but then you can still actually watch the clip itself. Um,
- 12:32that's something that I would probably rein them in with a,
- 12:35with a brief and a proper, um, example, but because
- 12:39I'm going to do a poor job today, I'm going
- 12:41to just, um, let them do whatever they want.
- 12:44Speaker 2: So a lot of.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Fiverr people will actually ask you to contact before the order.
- 12:48This is actually quite a good idea. Um, you know,
- 12:51it's very hard to standardize the product offering here. So
- 12:54they do want to ask you some basic questions and
- 12:57sometimes they'll also just kind of raise the price accordingly. So, um,
- 13:02You know, this person's actually got some decent reviews. I'm
- 13:06going to try to find someone maybe a little bit
- 13:09less experienced.
- 13:10Speaker 2: So we'll come down to.
- 13:13Speaker 1: They've only got seven reviews. So they're obviously relatively new.
- 13:19You can also scroll down to the seller and understand
- 13:21their average response time and the rest of the product
- 13:25offerings that they have. And then we can contact the
- 13:27seller or we can check out now. I'm just going
- 13:29to contact the seller and make sure that they reply.
- 13:33This is usually where I would be asking for a
- 13:35lot more information about the person, getting their portfolio if
- 13:40there wasn't enough, asking about their lead time, we would
- 13:44go into and then provide them probably a script as well.
- 13:48This person might not be a native English speaker, so
- 13:51giving them exact key shots as well would be really important.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Let's just go. Can you please create me three times?
- 14:03Facebook ad videos. Here is the footage. Yeah, that's shocking.
- 14:12Speaker 1: So they've got color grading on it, which is terrible.
- 14:15There's the strange text animations, which, as I said, you
- 14:21want it to feel really native to the feed. really
- 14:33no editing in this section, besides from that little animation.
- 14:37Do not use that ad on Facebook. The main thing is, obviously,
- 14:43the color grading at the start. It's just completely ruined it.
- 14:47And then they've also grabbed images and warped the images.
- 14:50They've scaled it wrong, which is obviously not right. That's
- 14:54actually just basic poor videography skills. It's not really about
- 14:59my brief, so... So they've got some pretty fast transitions,
- 15:04which is good.
- 15:05Speaker 2: They haven't added it.
- 15:06Speaker 1: To be 4 to 5 ratio. It's 9 by 16,
- 15:10which isn't a deal-breaker, but.
- 15:14They've selected a few good clips here. This one's just
- 15:18dragging on way too long. It needs to be faster.
- 15:24Basically showing the same thing over and over again. That
- 15:27would cause churn, people to drop off. Needs to be
- 15:31quicker transitions. Honestly, the videography work that I probably did
- 15:37wasn't great there for these clips. It's good that they've
- 15:40got this reveal though. Satisfying end. That wasn't too bad.
- 15:50A little bit better than the others. Took a while
- 15:55for the music to start then. Less intrusive text, but
- 16:02This is why you need to write the copy for
- 16:04the videos, because you can't really expect someone else to
- 16:07write that. They've got some good talking points here. They're
- 16:14just looking at one clip though. They're just looking at
- 16:18the saucepan clip as well, which is probably the least impressive.
- 16:20I'm going to show you how it cleans household things.
- 16:24The music then just skipped a beat, which was weird.
- 16:27They've obviously haven't paid for the full... They've just merged
- 16:31two 30-second royalty-free clips, which doesn't make sense.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Again.
- 16:37Speaker 1: They have matched at least the soft-to-touch, safe-to-touch with the
- 16:49skin sound with the actual shot of the skin, so
- 16:52that's a good sign. But yeah, still pretty, pretty lame video.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Oh gosh. Oh, this is just so much text. Very intrusive.
- 17:09Saying stovetops, and it's not actually a stovetop.
- 17:15Speaker 1: They're putting the text in all different spots on the clip.
- 17:19You just want your text to be in the same
- 17:20spot each clip, because otherwise your eye's gonna be jumping
- 17:23around the video. The text is way too big, and
- 17:27it's also a terrible font. It looks like Word in 2005.
- 17:30I actually don't mind this top header bar. The top
- 17:38header bar's really effective at getting conversions. So they put
- 17:47the audio over this one, which is quite good. I
- 17:50would like to put some royalty-free music just under that
- 17:55audio just to make it feel a little bit more seamless. Basically,
- 18:00if you've got this underlying royalty-free clip of music, you
- 18:05can make audio transitions without them feeling more jarring because
- 18:10the audio continues on. If you've got someone speaking, you
- 18:14can use that audio to join up the two clips. Again,
- 18:18you've got the header bar, the offer, which is good.
- 18:20There's just really no storytelling or good advertising concepts in here.
- 18:26You need to tell a story, paste the video out accordingly,
- 18:30explain the features and benefits, and then have a call
- 18:32to action. That's something that you just need to have
- 18:34in your brief. So they were pretty horrible. Lucky that
- 18:38I edited a couple last week. Let's jump into those videos.
- 18:42I think we'll use them instead for the Facebook ads.
- 18:44By no means a professional. I self-taught myself everything from YouTube.
- 18:49I have a really quick workflow just to get a
- 18:53basic video done. I'm just going to open up Premiere Pro.
- 18:57So I'm just gonna set up a new project and
- 18:59I'm just going to call it Lemon Scrub. Create a
- 19:01new folder so I can stay organized. Final Cut and
- 19:05Premiere can most definitely feel a little bit intimidating, which
- 19:08is fair enough. This is why I suggest that you
- 19:11watch a couple of really simple YouTube videos before just
- 19:14downloading the tool. Because if you just come in here
- 19:17and fiddle around, it is going to take you a
- 19:19lot longer to learn rather than seeing a professional.
- 19:22Speaker 2: What I'm gonna do is I'm going to go File, New, Sequence.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Now we need to make sure that this is four
- 19:30to five ratio suitable for Facebook and Instagram, which is
- 19:34that slightly vertical tile that takes up the most real
- 19:38estate in Instagram and Facebook on mobile. So I already
- 19:42have a custom preset down here, four to five Instagram
- 19:45or square Instagram. You can create your own sequence here
- 19:48by just going 108, and then 1350 which creates four
- 19:54to five ratio if this isn't coming up four to
- 19:57five ratio possibly you don't have square pixel aspect ratio
- 20:01so you can change that the only other thing that
- 20:04i probably recommend you looking at is making sure that
- 20:08you've got 23.976 frames per second.
- 20:12Speaker 2: That is what we're after. So we can create that one.
- 20:18Speaker 1: And now this is where we're going to drag all
- 20:20of our clips and audio to make our video. Alrighty,
- 20:30so we've finished our ad. It's about 20 seconds long.
- 20:33It's most similar to probably what we call a UGC ad.
- 20:38iPhone quality and someone's just speaking. I've added subtitles. You
- 20:42can use Rev to add subtitles or you can use
- 20:45Premiere Pro's auto captioning or you can write them out yourself.
- 20:49And I've just overlaid that. I've had a small time
- 20:52ramp to make it a little bit engaging at the end. Ideally,
- 20:57I probably would have liked the first three seconds to
- 20:59be a little bit more of a hook to get
- 21:01the user's attention. But the reason why I really like
- 21:04this video is because of how well it actually.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Cut through the toothpaste.
- 21:09Speaker 1: And you can kind of see just how effective the
- 21:12product is. I'm going to go ahead and also create
- 21:16a bunch of other ads with text overlays, looking at
- 21:19the barbecue, as I mentioned before, to make sure that
- 21:22we have all of those With the barbecue one, I'm
- 21:27definitely going to, you know, say, you know, is this
- 21:31your barbecue and talk about the cutting of the grease.
- 21:36Speaker 2: But I think this turned out pretty well. I'll just
- 21:38play it now.
- 21:39Speaker 3: If you've ever wondered how your professional cleaner gets your
- 21:41bench top in your bathroom really clean, they use products
- 21:45similar to the lemon scrub. Look how easily this cuts
- 21:49through the toothpaste, the soap, the makeup.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Beautiful.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Click on the link below to buy.
- 22:03Speaker 1: So let's jump in. Let's edit the rest of the videos.
- 22:05I'm also gonna have to edit the pictures as well.
- 22:07I'm gonna use Lightroom for that, another Adobe software. However,
- 22:11you know, there's plenty out there. You might not even
- 22:14need a photo editing software. We're just gonna crop them
- 22:17to one-to-one ratio for the website, the product images. We're
- 22:20gonna do a couple of landscape images as well because
- 22:22I know that Shopify is gonna need them with a theme.
- 22:25Not too much heavy editing, just a bit of color
- 22:27grading and its exposure settings.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Yeah, let's jump into it.
- 22:42Speaker 1: So you're probably wondering about TikTok videos, which I think
- 22:45this product is gonna absolutely crush on TikTok. We're gonna
- 22:48do a whole episode on organic social media. I think
- 22:50it's gonna be a really important part of this product.
- 22:53especially with a low AOV, if we can get organic
- 22:55traffic converting, it's gonna be a great moneymaker.
- 22:58Speaker 3: You've probably seen a lot of cleaning products on social media.
- 23:01The cutting edge technology of this lemon scrub is the
- 23:04most efficient that I've come across. It's cleaned this really grotty,
- 23:08stubborn barbecue right back to the stainless steel with very
- 23:11minimum scrubbing.
- 23:13Speaker 2: It really is awesome. So there you have it. The
- 23:31edits are done.
- 23:32Speaker 1: You can see how much it can vary depending on
- 23:34the consultant that you pick. It's worth spending a bit
- 23:37of time on that, making sure that you understand what
- 23:40you're looking for and then just testing them out accordingly.
- 23:43Next steps is we have to use this content to
- 23:45create an amazing website that converts. Something with high average
- 23:48order value, possibly even a subscription model. Then we've got
- 23:51to launch the ads finally and see if we can
- 23:54get some sales. Don't forget to like and subscribe. Leave
- 23:56a comment if you've got any questions. Peace.
