Latest / The Sean O'Connell Show / Ted Pardee previews No. 14 Houston at No. 10 Utah from a Cougars perspective
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Color analyst on the Houston radio broadcast. He also does
- 0:03Speaker 1: some pro football color. Ted, welcome to the show.
- 0:06Speaker 2: How are you, sir?
- 0:08Speaker 3: I'm doing great. How are you guys doing today?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Doing all right.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I'm just kind of filibustering about this Houston team and
- 0:14Speaker 1: what we should see. at rice Eccles stadium on Saturday night,
- 0:17Speaker 1: but you have a lot more insight and a lot
- 0:19Speaker 1: more knowledge of what this Houston Cougars team actually is
- 0:23Speaker 1: this year. Uh, just your 10,000 foot view, the overarching
- 0:28Speaker 1: kind of opinion of this matchup number 10 versus number
- 0:32Speaker 1: 14 college game day road game for the Houston Cougars
- 0:36Speaker 1: at rice Eccles stadium night game, but Utah has never
- 0:40Speaker 1: beat Houston in football. So what is the Houston perspective
- 0:44Speaker 1: on this matchup?
- 0:46Speaker 3: Well, the Houston perspective is, to start with, that this
- 0:49Speaker 3: is probably the best matchup that Houston's had in the
- 0:53Speaker 3: past three, probably, I don't know, three or four years, honestly.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Playing against a fantastic Utah team that, in many ways,
- 1:03Speaker 3: is a mirror image of the University of Houston. Like,
- 1:05Speaker 3: if you look at these two offenses... Man, they love
- 1:08Speaker 3: to do the same thing. They like to ball control
- 1:11Speaker 3: the opponent. They like to, you know, great running games,
- 1:15Speaker 3: great quarterback leadership, some great skill position guys. And, you know,
- 1:21Speaker 3: you just, you know, you start looking at just a
- 1:23Speaker 3: couple of the pieces of the puzzle. You look at,
- 1:25Speaker 3: you know, at things like scoring offense. You know, Utah
- 1:28Speaker 3: averages 40 points per game. Houston, 39.3. You know, very close.
- 1:33Speaker 3: You look at total offense, you know, 486 for Utah,
- 1:38Speaker 3: 485 for Houston. It's eerie, you know, when you start
- 1:42Speaker 3: to look at how similar those two offenses are. What
- 1:46Speaker 3: Houston's had success doing this year is playing ball control
- 1:50Speaker 3: against every one of their opponents. The one it didn't
- 1:54Speaker 3: work against was Texas Tech, and that thing came down
- 1:56Speaker 3: to the very end of the game. And, you know,
- 1:58Speaker 3: we could talk a little bit more about that. That
- 2:00Speaker 3: really had more to do with the defensive blitz packages
- 2:03Speaker 3: that the Cougs ran or didn't really have success with. But,
- 2:06Speaker 3: you know, offensively, you know, Connor Wegman is an absolute
- 2:11Speaker 3: fantastic quarterback. So happy for him starting at Texas A
- 2:15Speaker 3: & M. He was a five-star recruit coming out of
- 2:18Speaker 3: high school out of the Houston area. So really for
- 2:21Speaker 3: him to come back to the University of Houston, you know,
- 2:24Speaker 3: kind of coming home, his parents can just drive over
- 2:26Speaker 3: every day, every game. And, you know, it's been wonderful
- 2:30Speaker 3: to watch that young man mature and grow into the
- 2:32Speaker 3: leader that he is today.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Well, he is, if you're a Utah fan, he is
- 2:37Speaker 1: the problem you're trying to solve this week because, as
- 2:40Speaker 1: I think you probably heard me talking about before we
- 2:42Speaker 1: welcomed you, he's so intelligent with the football in his hands.
- 2:46Speaker 1: He's underrated as a pure athlete, and he's a competitor.
- 2:51Speaker 1: He's going to do the right thing to try to
- 2:52Speaker 1: get his team marching down the field and get into
- 2:54Speaker 1: the end zone, and by far the best quarterback Utah
- 2:58Speaker 1: will have faced this year. So just between us, Ted,
- 3:02Speaker 1: how do you rattle Wegman? I mean, is there something
- 3:06Speaker 1: that this Utah defense should be trying to do to
- 3:08Speaker 1: get him off his game?
- 3:11Speaker 3: Well, you know, I would normally say get after him
- 3:13Speaker 3: with the blitz, but, you know, you've got to be
- 3:15Speaker 3: extremely careful with the blitz because, you know, the football
- 3:21Speaker 3: has become such a chess game these days, you know, and,
- 3:24Speaker 3: you know, you do this, I do that, right? And
- 3:26Speaker 3: so if you think about what blitz does, you know, so...
- 3:30Speaker 3: On a base level, and Utah does this offensively too,
- 3:33Speaker 3: you run the ball so well that you force defenses
- 3:35Speaker 3: to bring one more defender into the box, right? But
- 3:39Speaker 3: when you do that, you trade off for the passing game.
- 3:42Speaker 3: You can't do it both, right? You can't have six
- 3:45Speaker 3: guys in coverage and be able to stop the run.
- 3:48Speaker 3: So you've got to bring that extra guy from coverage
- 3:51Speaker 3: into the box. And then what that means is defensively,
- 3:55Speaker 3: you then have to play more man coverage on the
- 3:58Speaker 3: back end. What's the best thing for a scrambling quarterback
- 4:02Speaker 3: is for the defense to be playing man-to-man where the
- 4:05Speaker 3: cornerbacks and safeties are turning their back to the line
- 4:08Speaker 3: of scrimmage to chase the receivers down the field. That
- 4:11Speaker 3: is exactly when you see Conor Wegman take off. He
- 4:15Speaker 3: will take off running when it's that type of situation.
- 4:18Speaker 3: He's not just one of these guys that's always looking
- 4:21Speaker 3: to run, but when he runs, he's very smart about it. Again,
- 4:25Speaker 3: he's a veteran quarterback. He's been around, he knows what
- 4:29Speaker 3: to look for. So he doesn't just, you know, take
- 4:31Speaker 3: chances on the run. And when he does run, he
- 4:34Speaker 3: runs at the best possible time. So, you know, I
- 4:38Speaker 3: think that if you're Utah, you've got to find a
- 4:40Speaker 3: way without running a spy on defense, you know, that's
- 4:43Speaker 3: how you typically will stop a running quarterback without spying him.
- 4:47Speaker 3: You've got to find a way to keep him honest
- 4:49Speaker 3: and force him to throw the ball. You know, when,
- 4:51Speaker 3: when Connor's hot, boy, he's red hot throwing the ball. Uh,
- 4:56Speaker 3: occasionally as he had, uh, you know, last year, did
- 4:58Speaker 3: he have a couple of games where he didn't throw
- 4:59Speaker 3: the ball pretty well? Yeah. He had one or two
- 5:02Speaker 3: of those games. If you could get him into that
- 5:04Speaker 3: situation where he's not throwing the ball well, or better yet,
- 5:07Speaker 3: get the whole team into a situation where they make mistakes,
- 5:10Speaker 3: where they get bad penalties, they fumble the ball. That's,
- 5:14Speaker 3: that's really what Utah has to do. They've got to
- 5:16Speaker 3: force Houston into making mistakes.
- 5:20Speaker 1: If you're wondering how much of a mirror match this
- 5:22Speaker 1: game really is, uh, Look at the rankings, the statistical
- 5:26Speaker 1: rankings all over the place, as Ted just alluded to,
- 5:29Speaker 1: and it's Utah's third and Houston's fourth, or Houston's second
- 5:34Speaker 1: and Utah's third, and whatever statistical category in the Big
- 5:37Speaker 1: 12 you want to bring up.
- 5:38Speaker 2: This is a fun one.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Devin Dampier, who's a good athlete and a great running quarterback,
- 5:44Speaker 1: he has carried the ball 59 times this year. Connor Wegman,
- 5:48Speaker 1: Houston quarterback, has carried the ball 59 times this year.
- 5:52Speaker 1: There's too many similarities. between these two teams. If there
- 5:57Speaker 1: is a weakness for Houston, and I've been paying attention
- 6:00Speaker 1: to some of the blogs and the forums and things
- 6:03Speaker 1: like that, it seems like if there's any dissatisfaction to
- 6:07Speaker 1: be found, it's that maybe the secondary for Houston has
- 6:10Speaker 1: shown some vulnerability. Oftentimes, fans and writers are a little
- 6:14Speaker 1: bit reductive in their assessment. I wanted your thoughts on
- 6:18Speaker 1: what Houston brings defensively, especially in.
- 6:20Speaker 2: The back end.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Well, you nailed it, right? You nailed it. Passing defense,
- 6:26Speaker 3: Houston gives up about 265 yards per game. Utah only
- 6:31Speaker 3: gives up about 214. That's a big delta. And so
- 6:36Speaker 3: why is that? Well, Houston has– they've had three big-time
- 6:40Speaker 3: injuries in the back end of their defense this year,
- 6:44Speaker 3: and probably really what I would call their most productive
- 6:49Speaker 3: all-round player. You know, you've got– You've got a guy
- 6:54Speaker 3: like Javion White. He is number zero. He's been a
- 6:58Speaker 3: big contributor. Jaden Yates is the guy that is really
- 7:03Speaker 3: missing right now on the defense. He was number one.
- 7:06Speaker 3: When you look at your two-deep, he may not be
- 7:08Speaker 3: on there right now because he's been injured. He was
- 7:11Speaker 3: the leading tackler. He's kind of one of these guys...
- 7:15Speaker 3: They like to call that position, like, star, or they
- 7:18Speaker 3: call it... You know, it's really a nickel. It's actually
- 7:21Speaker 3: another backer, is really what it comes down to. He's
- 7:24Speaker 3: lined up like a linebacker, but he can cover like
- 7:26Speaker 3: a DB. And let me tell you, Jaden Yates was
- 7:29Speaker 3: that guy. He was an unbelievable player. So when you
- 7:31Speaker 3: lose that, and then you get a couple more injuries.
- 7:34Speaker 3: You know, I mentioned Javion White was dinged up a
- 7:36Speaker 3: little bit. You know, you get a couple other guys
- 7:38Speaker 3: that are injured. You know, it really, really hurts the defense.
- 7:42Speaker 3: So what you have now is you've got... will James
- 7:46Speaker 3: playing corner, DJ rim playing corner, number five and number three,
- 7:50Speaker 3: those two guys are going to have to hold it down.
- 7:53Speaker 3: And DJ was a backup, right? He was the number
- 7:56Speaker 3: two defensive back. He was the number two corner. They
- 7:59Speaker 3: had to put him into position to start. So that's
- 8:02Speaker 3: going to put more pressure. The talent that Utah has
- 8:05Speaker 3: at receiver, I think is going to press Houston a lot.
- 8:08Speaker 3: And so Houston's going to have to be really creative
- 8:10Speaker 3: about how do they cover? How do they, how do
- 8:12Speaker 3: they disguise their coverages? One thing you should pay attention
- 8:15Speaker 3: to Austin Armstrong, the Houston defensive coordinator, you know, he learned,
- 8:19Speaker 3: he started off his, his coaching career at Georgia. So
- 8:23Speaker 3: he runs a sec style defense. They try to confuse
- 8:27Speaker 3: the quarterback. They'll try to confuse Duff here as much
- 8:29Speaker 3: as they can. And I know he's a great mind.
- 8:32Speaker 3: He's a super smart quarterback, but they're going to try
- 8:34Speaker 3: to confuse them at the line of scrimmage with a formation,
- 8:37Speaker 3: the defensive formation to make him make a mistake.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Ted party.
- 8:41Speaker 1: The Houston color analyst is our guest here on the
- 8:43Speaker 1: Sean O'Connell show ahead of a game day matchup at
- 8:47Speaker 1: rice Eccles stadium night game, blackout game, all the, the makings,
- 8:53Speaker 1: the recipe for what should be an incredible night with
- 8:55Speaker 1: a really talented Houston team coming in number 14 in
- 8:59Speaker 1: the country. And, you know, Houston, I think I've made
- 9:04Speaker 1: this point several times.
- 9:05Speaker 2: My listeners are probably sick of it.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Houston, I think is kind of the hinge point for
- 9:09Speaker 1: the big 12 race because the They play three of
- 9:11Speaker 1: the top four ranked teams in their regular season schedule.
- 9:15Speaker 1: They missed BYU, but already played Texas Tech, already played
- 9:18Speaker 1: Oklahoma State.
- 9:20Speaker 2: They've got Utah on the slate this week.
- 9:22Speaker 1: It's a tough schedule, certainly, if you're Houston Cougars and
- 9:25Speaker 1: their coach, but you kind of control your own destiny
- 9:28Speaker 1: in a way that even Texas Tech and BYU don't
- 9:31Speaker 1: because they miss some of the top competitors opposite them.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Given that and the fact that they have not yet
- 9:37Speaker 1: had a bye, it seems like this Houston team is
- 9:40Speaker 1: really kind of like keeping pace with or outpacing expectations
- 9:44Speaker 1: of but I'm not there where they're setting the expectations
- 9:47Speaker 1: relative to what this fan base and this university thought
- 9:50Speaker 1: they could be this year.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Ted, how close are they?
- 9:55Speaker 3: Well, you know, Houston, Houston's a tough market. Let's be
- 9:58Speaker 3: totally honest. Right. I mean, you guys, everybody's seen the
- 10:01Speaker 3: challenges we've had at getting fans out to the game,
- 10:03Speaker 3: and that was when we're in the top 25. I mean,
- 10:05Speaker 3: come on, right? Houston is a, you know, it's a
- 10:08Speaker 3: town that I mean, they ran the Houston Oilers out
- 10:12Speaker 3: of town, so that ought to tell you something about
- 10:14Speaker 3: the fan base here, right? Like, they're not afraid to
- 10:16Speaker 3: lose a team. And so what you have to do
- 10:18Speaker 3: here is you have to be consistently good. And I
- 10:21Speaker 3: think that, you know, against Oklahoma State, it was a sellout.
- 10:25Speaker 3: The fans came out, right? It was obvious. It was
- 10:27Speaker 3: two good teams going head-to-head, a good matchup. A great night.
- 10:31Speaker 3: You know, finally, we had some good weather in Houston.
- 10:34Speaker 3: It's been in the 90s, you know, all year long
- 10:36Speaker 3: until finally we get a break where it's, you know,
- 10:38Speaker 3: finally in the 70s at night. But, you know, I
- 10:41Speaker 3: think that when you look at this matchup, it is
- 10:45Speaker 3: really best on best. I honestly think what Houston does,
- 10:48Speaker 3: Houston often plays to the level of their competition, right? And,
- 10:53Speaker 3: you know, that, that can be a good thing and
- 10:54Speaker 3: a bad thing to be totally honest with you. You know,
- 10:56Speaker 3: I mean, I think that, you know, if you, if
- 10:58Speaker 3: you look at some of the, the matchups, you know,
- 11:01Speaker 3: Houston was right there with Texas tech to the very end,
- 11:04Speaker 3: but they didn't play their best game. And I think
- 11:06Speaker 3: that as the season has gone on, you've got a
- 11:09Speaker 3: couple of guys that have really stepped out and really
- 11:11Speaker 3: shown that their leaders, guys like Sione Foto, middle linebacker,
- 11:15Speaker 3: former Utah guy. So you guys may remember him. you know,
- 11:17Speaker 3: on defense, you know, you get other guys on defense
- 11:21Speaker 3: like Jordan Allen, who have really come out and shown
- 11:23Speaker 3: that he's a, he's a veteran leader. You get other
- 11:26Speaker 3: guys on the offensive side of the board, like Patrick Overmeyer,
- 11:30Speaker 3: you know, he transferred, he's a tight end transferred from
- 11:32Speaker 3: UTSA and he's really just done a fantastic job of
- 11:37Speaker 3: getting catches and making big plays. So, you know, it's, it's,
- 11:41Speaker 3: it's a situation where, you know, Houston hasn't had their
- 11:45Speaker 3: off week yet. They're kind of getting on a roll.
- 11:47Speaker 3: They've been a little bit dinged up on defense, but
- 11:50Speaker 3: they're not using that as excuses. This is a team that,
- 11:53Speaker 3: you know, they're kind of the team that we're like, Hey,
- 11:55Speaker 3: we don't have any superstars on this team. We just
- 11:57Speaker 3: have a bunch of dudes. Right. And, and that's really the, the, the,
- 12:01Speaker 3: the mentality and really the identity of this team is
- 12:04Speaker 3: it's a blue collar team. And they love that. They
- 12:07Speaker 3: love to be that kind of, you know, Connor Wegman. I,
- 12:10Speaker 3: Texas A & M didn't want me. Okay, that's fine.
- 12:13Speaker 3: You know what? I'll go to Houston. I'll show the
- 12:14Speaker 3: world what I can do. The Cougar team has a
- 12:17Speaker 3: chip on their shoulder, and that's why they always can
- 12:20Speaker 3: be in any game. But make no mistake, they're playing
- 12:24Speaker 3: the best team in the league right now. Utah, to me,
- 12:26Speaker 3: is the most well-rounded team. They're an unbelievable force, just
- 12:31Speaker 3: looking across the board. Defensively, wow, what a stacked defense
- 12:37Speaker 3: and what a fantastic team. Great offense. So This is
- 12:40Speaker 3: the kind of matchup that you want. I mean, you know,
- 12:42Speaker 3: we said this last week against Oklahoma state, you want
- 12:45Speaker 3: these matchups, you want to play against good teams. You
- 12:49Speaker 3: don't want to play against bad teams. Sometimes when you
- 12:51Speaker 3: play against a bad team, you have a letdown, right? So,
- 12:53Speaker 3: you know, play against the good teams and show the
- 12:55Speaker 3: world what you're all about.
- 12:57Speaker 1: How many times has Houston been on the featured game
- 13:00Speaker 1: day matchup?
- 13:01Speaker 2: Do you know?
- 13:03Speaker 3: Well, in my recollection, the last time Houston was on
- 13:08Speaker 3: game day or involved in it was when Houston played
- 13:12Speaker 3: SMU and we had case Keenum at quarterback and game
- 13:15Speaker 3: day was on campus. I think it's the only time
- 13:18Speaker 3: they've ever come to Houston. In my recollection, I've been
- 13:22Speaker 3: doing this 21 years as an announcer. So Houston, It's
- 13:27Speaker 3: a big deal. It's a really big deal for Utah.
- 13:30Speaker 3: I mean, come on, this is what you want if
- 13:32Speaker 3: you're Utah, right? I mean, it's kind of the coming
- 13:34Speaker 3: out party. Like, it's time for the nation to see
- 13:37Speaker 3: how good Utah really is. And we're along for the ride.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Houston's hyping it. Like, just if you look at your
- 13:43Speaker 3: social media feed, you know, University of Houston's been hyping that, hey,
- 13:47Speaker 3: this is a game day game, right? We're not being
- 13:50Speaker 3: highlighted in it, but let me tell you what, we're
- 13:51Speaker 3: going to go along for the ride as well. So
- 13:55Speaker 3: it's exciting. The players want to show out. They want
- 13:58Speaker 3: the nation to see what they can do against a
- 14:01Speaker 3: really great team. And this is what you want. This
- 14:04Speaker 3: is the best of college football, in my opinion.
- 14:06Speaker 1: You just mentioned his name, and I wasn't even aware
- 14:09Speaker 1: of this injustice until I was checking your Twitter feed.
- 14:12Speaker 1: But Case Keenum, is not eligible for the college football
- 14:17Speaker 1: hall of fame, despite all of the records he holds
- 14:21Speaker 1: in the college football record book, uh, 5,000 yard seasons, completions,
- 14:27Speaker 1: passing touchdowns, total yards, passing yards.
- 14:30Speaker 2: I mean, this guy was, uh.
- 14:33Speaker 1: I mean, he's the best college football quarterback ever by
- 14:36Speaker 1: some metrics. And he's not eligible for the NCAA, uh,
- 14:40Speaker 1: for the college football hall of fame.
- 14:42Speaker 2: This is dumb.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Why don't they– It's criminal. Listen. Yeah, it's criminal. And
- 14:49Speaker 3: I'll tell you what. I'll give you– I'll one-up you there.
- 14:52Speaker 3: And I've said this also on Twitter. My college roommate
- 14:55Speaker 3: was David Klingler. We played in the Southwest Conference. We
- 14:59Speaker 3: beat Texas three years in a row when I was
- 15:02Speaker 3: in school. David Klingler previously was the owner of all
- 15:06Speaker 3: of the NCAA records, all of them, all of them,
- 15:09Speaker 3: until Timmy Chang in Hawaii and then Case Keenum. Those
- 15:14Speaker 3: two guys started to chip away at David's records. David
- 15:17Speaker 3: still holds records to this day. People thought Houston used
- 15:22Speaker 3: to run up the score all the time when I
- 15:24Speaker 3: played back in the 90s, 80s, and early 90s. And
- 15:28Speaker 3: so for whatever reason, he was not named a unanimous All-American.
- 15:33Speaker 3: In order to be in the Hall of Fame, you
- 15:34Speaker 3: have to be a unanimous All-American. And Case and David Klingler,
- 15:38Speaker 3: neither one of them were named unanimous All-Americans. So they
- 15:40Speaker 3: will not be allowed under current rules. They are not
- 15:44Speaker 3: ever going to be in the College Football Hall of Fame.
- 15:46Speaker 3: And that is the biggest travesty ever.
- 15:51Speaker 2: It really is. It's ridiculous.
- 15:52Speaker 1: And look, it's fine if your criteria are a certain
- 15:57Speaker 1: way to adjust those criteria. A Hall of Fame is
- 16:00Speaker 1: not like some sacred institution that can't alter things. The
- 16:04Speaker 1: College Football Hall of Fame altered their criteria so that
- 16:07Speaker 1: we could put Mike Leach in.
- 16:08Speaker 2: And I think everyone was happy about that, right?
- 16:10Speaker 3: Right.
- 16:10Speaker 2: So why not do it for the all-time NCAA leader
- 16:14Speaker 2: in passing yards? That's bananas.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Well, and, you know, you look at Case, and he
- 16:20Speaker 3: was in the Heisman running, right? He was one of
- 16:22Speaker 3: the top five guys for the Heisman, and David Klingler
- 16:25Speaker 3: finished second for the Heisman. You know, I mean, what
- 16:27Speaker 3: else do these guys have to do? Honestly, I don't know.
- 16:31Speaker 3: If you look, you know, you guys will probably like this.
- 16:34Speaker 3: Look at David Klingler's stats against the winner in 1990,
- 16:36Speaker 3: Ty Detmer. Take a look at his numbers. Look at
- 16:41Speaker 3: the two guys and stack up their numbers.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Utah fans are going to jump on an opportunity to
- 16:48Speaker 1: theoretically take a Heisman trophy away from BYU.
- 16:51Speaker 2: So you're going to get a bunch of support there.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Go check it out. Trust me. When you see how
- 16:56Speaker 3: Ty Detmer's numbers versus David Klingler's numbers, you'll be absolutely flabbergasted.
- 17:01Speaker 3: And I'm telling you, Houston, in David Klingler's junior year,
- 17:06Speaker 3: they beat A & M, Arkansas. Like, you know, they
- 17:10Speaker 3: didn't just beat, you know, we're not playing against Tulsa.
- 17:13Speaker 3: We're playing against power five, back then, power five teams.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Before I let you go, What kind of game do
- 17:20Speaker 1: we get on Saturday night? I think this one might
- 17:23Speaker 1: end up being a shootout, and we could get, you know, 42-45,
- 17:27Speaker 1: something like that. You're kind of coming off a little
- 17:29Speaker 1: pseudo-mini-shootout against Oklahoma State. How do you think it plays
- 17:33Speaker 1: out in Salt Lake City?
- 17:36Speaker 3: Well, I mean, I'm a homer. I love the Cougs.
- 17:40Speaker 3: I got to say that, you know, I think it's
- 17:42Speaker 3: obvious why Utah is favored. I mean, there's no question
- 17:45Speaker 3: that Utah– uh, is, is the, is the right on
- 17:49Speaker 3: paper is the better team right now. Um, I honestly
- 17:54Speaker 3: think the score is going to be a little bit
- 17:56Speaker 3: lower scoring. You know, if you, if you go back
- 17:58Speaker 3: to 2024, You know, I think it was 17, 14,
- 18:02Speaker 3: you know, and, and that sounds about right to me.
- 18:04Speaker 3: I hate to say that. Cause that's not a, doesn't
- 18:06Speaker 3: sound like a super exciting game, but you know, it's
- 18:10Speaker 3: one of these games that you're just not sure. Both
- 18:13Speaker 3: defenses are so good. Both offenses are, are, are the,
- 18:16Speaker 3: they're marriage images of each other. I think it's going
- 18:20Speaker 3: to be one of these games where it comes down
- 18:21Speaker 3: to the last possession. And, and, you know, whoever gets
- 18:25Speaker 3: the ball last is going to be the winner.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Well, we'll see you up here on Saturday. Enjoy your
- 18:32Speaker 1: visit to Salt Lake City, Ted, and thanks for your
- 18:34Speaker 1: time today.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Yeah, you bet. We love coming up there. Beautiful place,
- 18:38Speaker 3: and we're looking forward to some cool weather, so can't
- 18:41Speaker 3: wait to get up there.
- 18:42Speaker 1: That's Ted Pardee, Houston color analyst. He'll be on the
- 18:46Speaker 1: call on the Houston side of things when the Cougs
- 18:49Speaker 1: come to Rice-Eccles Stadium for an 8-15 kickoff on Saturday night.
